- 0:00Speaker 1: Time for football Inside the Birds podcast, Bosher, who's joining us.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We're gonna break things.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Down from the weekend going forward to this preseason game
- 0:10Speaker 1: with Patriots.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I know it's a week.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Practice, but Jeffy, belated birthday, my friend.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I hope you had a great time.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I did, thank you. It's it's felt like my birthday
- 0:22Speaker 3: month instead of my birthday since we are now about
- 0:24Speaker 3: fourteen days removed and I'm still celebrating a little bit.
- 0:28Speaker 3: But that's the funny thing.
- 0:29Speaker 2: You're like a twenty two year old girl. Yeah you
- 0:32Speaker 2: had a birth month.
- 0:32Speaker 3: An influencer.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you're an influencer.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I've been called the worst peachy.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Well, Jeff, I want to talk about the preseason dud
- 0:43Speaker 1: that was on Saturday Night.
- 0:45Speaker 2: One takeaway I did have. I thought Jeremiah.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Trotter looked really good over the weekend, uh for the
- 0:52Speaker 1: most part, but I thought he was someone who had
- 0:55Speaker 1: a big game. Jeff, what did you make a Jeremiah
- 0:58Speaker 1: Trotter's performance.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I've been thinking a lot about Jeremiah Trotter because you know,
- 1:04Speaker 3: I can't remember a bad practice ever from Jeremiah Trotter
- 1:07Speaker 3: junior at going back to his rookie year, this is
- 1:10Speaker 3: year three now, and what a time to be alive
- 1:12Speaker 3: for Jeremiah Trotter Junior, because there's probably never not since
- 1:17Speaker 3: I've been covering the team for twenty some odd years,
- 1:19Speaker 3: and even going back where a guy could be that
- 1:21Speaker 3: good and not break into the starting lineup at off
- 1:25Speaker 3: ball linebacker for the Eagles. I mean ten years ago
- 1:28Speaker 3: he would have been their best off ball linebacker by
- 1:30Speaker 3: ten miles. And now now he can't even start because
- 1:34Speaker 3: they have an All Pro in a first round pick.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I do I wonder. I don't think how he wants
- 1:42Speaker 3: to get rid of him in any because it's important
- 1:44Speaker 3: to have depth. But smile, mind and Junior is there
- 1:47Speaker 3: and chance Campbell's the guy they really like, and they're
- 1:49Speaker 3: gonna have to make tough rofster decisions.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Part of me wonders with how we call around, what
- 1:55Speaker 3: people call him to maybe inquire about the availability of
- 1:59Speaker 3: Jeremy am I Trotter Junior. But I you know, the
- 2:02Speaker 3: Eagles really like him and you can't really depend on
- 2:07Speaker 3: I don't want to be unfair, but John Campbell has
- 2:09Speaker 3: had shoulder surgeries twice in three years so far, and
- 2:12Speaker 3: he you know, comes from Alabama, he had some injuries there.
- 2:15Speaker 3: He's I think Trotter is a really good players. Probably
- 2:18Speaker 3: if he's he's probably gonna be on the field.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Uh.
- 2:21Speaker 3: And I wonder if Vic Fangiel will try to figure
- 2:23Speaker 3: out some ways to get him on the field, but
- 2:26Speaker 3: not necessarily at the expense of other good players.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought he really stood out early on in
- 2:32Speaker 1: the ballgame. But one guy who I think had a
- 2:35Speaker 1: little bit of trouble and continues to is Killy Ringo.
- 2:37Speaker 1: What what do you believe his role is gonna be
- 2:40Speaker 1: and where he's at? I mean, he lets up the
- 2:41Speaker 1: first touchdown of the game. He's just slow to get
- 2:44Speaker 1: into the route and cover the receiver going going across
- 2:47Speaker 1: the middle. What do you make of Killy Ringo's role
- 2:50Speaker 1: going forward with this organization?
- 2:52Speaker 3: I don't make anything. He has no role other outside
- 2:55Speaker 3: of special teams. He's a very good gunner, a Pro
- 2:57Speaker 3: Bowl level gunner. If he's on the team, that's what
- 2:59Speaker 3: he'll be. He's not in the pecking order. I mean,
- 3:02Speaker 3: you've got the only way he's in the pecking order
- 3:05Speaker 3: is if you have a rash of injuries, and right
- 3:06Speaker 3: now the Eagles kind of do you know, I know day,
- 3:10Speaker 3: you had Quenya Mitchell back and Cooper to Gen back
- 3:13Speaker 3: at practice, so you know Ringo was back to being
- 3:16Speaker 3: among the third teamers. But the other day, on Thursday,
- 3:21Speaker 3: the last practice before today, there was no Degene, no Mitchell,
- 3:25Speaker 3: no Treique Castro Fields, who has even escalated up the
- 3:30Speaker 3: dip chart. So that's when you saw Ringo finally get
- 3:34Speaker 3: some reps opposite Wooland, but not before Mac McWilliams got
- 3:37Speaker 3: one too. So if you're gonna do a when healthy,
- 3:40Speaker 3: who is above Kielley Ringo, answer to your question. Right
- 3:43Speaker 3: when healthy, You've got Cooper Gen, You've got quinn On Mitchell.
- 3:47Speaker 3: You've got Michael Carter Junior as a nickelback ahead of
- 3:51Speaker 3: Killey Ringo. You've got Jonathan Jones, the thirty three year
- 3:54Speaker 3: old backup that they signed who is now injured. But
- 3:56Speaker 3: we'll see when healthy, I said, right, he would be
- 3:58Speaker 3: ahead of kill Ringo, and so would mac McWilliams and
- 4:01Speaker 3: maybe possibly even Tury Castro Fields, which just shows you
- 4:05Speaker 3: that if he's on the team, Killer Ringo is their
- 4:08Speaker 3: gunner and that's it. And you know he's another guy
- 4:11Speaker 3: that we'll see at cutdown to day. If there's some
- 4:14Speaker 3: kind of intro. I can't imagine there would be, but
- 4:16Speaker 3: if how he could could unload him, he might try.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Jeff, one of the more polarizing guys coming out of
- 4:23Speaker 4: the draft is Eli Stower, second round pick.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Fan base is going crazy.
- 4:27Speaker 4: They're going I mean, they're really concerned about the camp
- 4:30Speaker 4: that he's having and the preseason game that he had
- 4:33Speaker 4: on Saturday night. I guess for you, Jeff, this guy
- 4:37Speaker 4: was always going to be a project, right, I mean
- 4:38Speaker 4: new position.
- 4:39Speaker 2: For him, right? Are you? What's your level of concern
- 4:42Speaker 2: with him?
- 4:42Speaker 4: Does he still profile as a tight end or is
- 4:45Speaker 4: he maybe more of a wide receiver? I guess just
- 4:48Speaker 4: your overall thoughts of the camp and the game that
- 4:51Speaker 4: Eli Stower's had for us.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I would hope that nobody who is
- 4:56Speaker 3: rational and who listens to Inside the Birds or ninety
- 4:59Speaker 3: seven to three ESPN Football at four would have expected
- 5:04Speaker 3: much more from Elia Stowers because when they when we
- 5:07Speaker 3: when the Eagles drafted him, we talked about how much
- 5:10Speaker 3: of a great, how great of an athlete that he is,
- 5:13Speaker 3: and this athletic traits that he would bring to the position,
- 5:16Speaker 3: but that he was far behind as a blocker. He'd
- 5:19Speaker 3: only played tight end for two years at Vanderbilt. He
- 5:22Speaker 3: was a quarterback before that, and in those two years
- 5:25Speaker 3: he played in an offense that didn't really ask a
- 5:27Speaker 3: lot of blocking from the tight end position. So this
- 5:30Speaker 3: is all relatively new to him, and I've seen it
- 5:33Speaker 3: every year for as long as I've been reporting that.
- 5:36Speaker 3: When you have a kid who's swimming upstairs in his
- 5:39Speaker 3: head trying to figure things out, he plays slower. Your
- 5:42Speaker 3: play speed, your play speed and your time speed can
- 5:45Speaker 3: be two different things depending on what's going on with
- 5:48Speaker 3: you mentally, and right now he looks like he's adjusting
- 5:51Speaker 3: slowly to the physicality of that position the game overall,
- 5:56Speaker 3: and he's playing slow. It's not really letting us athletic
- 5:59Speaker 3: traits come through. I think we all remember it might
- 6:02Speaker 3: be a while though, but zach Ertz was similar. He
- 6:04Speaker 3: came in as a pass catching tight end, didn't block
- 6:07Speaker 3: a whole lot at Stanford, which does produce some good blockers,
- 6:10Speaker 3: but he wasn't one of them, and he was slow
- 6:14Speaker 3: to adjuster. Now, he was far more advanced than Eli
- 6:16Speaker 3: because he had played the position and he had been
- 6:19Speaker 3: asked to block in college. He just wasn't great at it,
- 6:22Speaker 3: and you saw how rough it was for Ertz year
- 6:24Speaker 3: one and year two. We all remember him not tackling
- 6:27Speaker 3: Vontees perfect right on the interception return and getting all
- 6:31Speaker 3: sorts of grief from Eagles fans, and then he wound
- 6:35Speaker 3: up having a very good career. So yeah, you gotta
- 6:37Speaker 3: be patient. The problem, Pete and Nick is that this
- 6:41Speaker 3: is not like the way. This is not the offense
- 6:44Speaker 3: set the Eagles were running years ago. This is an
- 6:46Speaker 3: offense where you're in a lot of twelve personnel but
- 6:49Speaker 3: being asked to block, you're asked to run. And he's
- 6:53Speaker 3: just not You saw, I saw that in the preseason game.
- 6:55Speaker 3: He was that's not his forte right now.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Jeff Shawn spoke earlier today, and you know they weren't
- 7:03Speaker 1: going to show much of this offense.
- 7:04Speaker 2: People shouldn't have expected anything.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Really, you were gonna see a lot of different concepts
- 7:10Speaker 1: or anything like that.
- 7:11Speaker 2: From your perspective at training camp for Sean Mannion, what.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Is the expectation for this entire offense heading into the
- 7:21Speaker 1: season and what should people expect from the new version
- 7:24Speaker 1: of what Jalen Hurts and company are learning.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Well, First and foremost, Nick and Pete you know, one
- 7:29Speaker 3: of the things that I don't think it's discussed enough
- 7:34Speaker 3: and you I think you can judge it positively even
- 7:37Speaker 3: without like results or good is getting to the line
- 7:41Speaker 3: of scrimmage and getting the play calls in. That has
- 7:43Speaker 3: been really to me sharp and on time in training camp.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And uh, I thought it was decent in the preseason game.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And you know, I know Sean said today he was
- 7:55Speaker 3: gonna coach the next game from the booth. He was sidelined,
- 7:58Speaker 3: you know, because he's trying to figure out what the
- 7:59Speaker 3: best thing is for him. But before the egle. I
- 8:03Speaker 3: hate to say this, and I know that some people
- 8:04Speaker 3: aren't going to agree with it, but sometimes when you
- 8:06Speaker 3: especially when you're learning a new offense, you got to
- 8:09Speaker 3: crawl before you walk. And I think to get passed
- 8:12Speaker 3: last year, one of the first things Eagles have to
- 8:15Speaker 3: do is to just be cleaner out of the huddle.
- 8:17Speaker 3: They have to get to the line of scrimmage. They
- 8:19Speaker 3: have to get plays off. You can't constantly and I
- 8:22Speaker 3: know this last game wasn't a great example of it
- 8:24Speaker 3: because they only ran forty four plays, but they were
- 8:26Speaker 3: better to the line of scrimmage. They just weren't running
- 8:28Speaker 3: plays because they weren't effective in moving the chains. That
- 8:32Speaker 3: to me, first of all, we didn't even see the starters,
- 8:35Speaker 3: But I just wanted to see this offense function at
- 8:39Speaker 3: a pace that is not like molasses. And I thought
- 8:42Speaker 3: at least you were able to see that against the Ravens.
- 8:45Speaker 3: And we'll see how that looks going forward, and then
- 8:47Speaker 3: especially in joint practices, you know, against the Patriots. We'll say,
- 8:51Speaker 3: but I think so far watching in training camp, that
- 8:55Speaker 3: is an area to be pleased about that the common
- 8:58Speaker 3: fans really won't be able to see until a week one.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Jeff Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee and Cole Payton? Is it
- 9:07Speaker 4: three guys for two spots? In your estimation? Do the
- 9:11Speaker 4: Eagles kind of want Andy Dalton to win this job?
- 9:15Speaker 4: I know it's still an open competition, but they did
- 9:17Speaker 4: go out and trade for him, and he's been in
- 9:19Speaker 4: the league for years.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Now.
- 9:21Speaker 4: What's your gauge I guess on the quarterback competition? Is
- 9:25Speaker 4: it three guys for two spots? Can you find a
- 9:27Speaker 4: role for Cole Payton on this team?
- 9:31Speaker 3: Yeah, Pete, that's that's for me. That's been the enigma
- 9:34Speaker 3: wrapped in a riddle for ever since they acquired Dalton,
- 9:38Speaker 3: like you got four and draft of Peyton. You got
- 9:40Speaker 3: four quarterbacks? You know how many are gonna be active
- 9:44Speaker 3: on game day two?
- 9:45Speaker 2: You know?
- 9:46Speaker 3: So what do you? What do you? Who's gonna get
- 9:48Speaker 3: practice reps? Because really, your first team quarterback gets all
- 9:51Speaker 3: the reps. Sometimes your backup gets reps. Sometimes he does not,
- 9:56Speaker 3: and then whoever is left sometimes that backup runs the
- 9:59Speaker 3: scout team or third quarterback. Now you got four, it's
- 10:03Speaker 3: it's easy to say, well, you could just get rid
- 10:05Speaker 3: of one of them, but that one would be Dalton.
- 10:07Speaker 3: But they're they're in bed with him contractually for decent money,
- 10:11Speaker 3: even though I believe the Panthers are picking up half
- 10:14Speaker 3: of it. So I don't know how it's gonna work out.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I've been trying to figure it out on my own head.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I suppose there's a shot that Dalton gets traded. I
- 10:22Speaker 3: suppose there's shot and McKee gets traded. There's still a
- 10:26Speaker 3: chance that somebody gets hurt in training camp and a
- 10:28Speaker 3: quarterback demand, you know, gets up there, just like years
- 10:32Speaker 3: and years ago when Teddy Bridgewater got hurt and it
- 10:35Speaker 3: led to the Eagles trading Sam Bradford. Right, So I
- 10:39Speaker 3: can't sit here right now. I'm very I'm just as
- 10:41Speaker 3: curious as you to see how it works itself out.
- 10:45Speaker 1: We're talking with Jeff Moscher inside the Birds football at four.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Jeff. One room that very much.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Intrigues me right now is the wide receiver room. DeVante
- 10:54Speaker 1: Smith back out at practice today. Darius Cooper seems to
- 10:58Speaker 1: have been or become the dark of training camp. With
- 11:01Speaker 1: McKay Lemon dealing with some injuries as well. Where is
- 11:05Speaker 1: that wide receiver room at? What do you make of
- 11:08Speaker 1: my Kai Lemon missing time? I mean, where's he gonna
- 11:11Speaker 1: be at? Where the start of the season coming up
- 11:13Speaker 1: here shortly, and Darius Cooper didn't really do much, had
- 11:16Speaker 1: a big third down drop in that preseason game on Saturday.
- 11:19Speaker 2: What's the wide receiver room looking like?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I think McKay's gonna be close. You know, he's
- 11:25Speaker 3: he's been out for a while, but he's really starting
- 11:27Speaker 3: to ramp up what he's been doing in warm ups.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I would I'd be kind of surprised if his first
- 11:35Speaker 3: time back on the field in a real practice setting
- 11:38Speaker 3: is joint practices against the Patriots that are going to
- 11:41Speaker 3: be physical and intense. But maybe he does individual work
- 11:44Speaker 3: there or some seven on sevens. I would think the
- 11:47Speaker 3: first practice after the Patriots game, as long as everything
- 11:53Speaker 3: is going the way things are going, we probably will
- 11:55Speaker 3: see him ramping up more so, and then once we do,
- 12:00Speaker 3: you know, he's gonna get every opportunity to be the
- 12:02Speaker 3: quote unquote number two wide receiver. But there's no question
- 12:05Speaker 3: that Dantavian Wicks and Darius Cooper and even Elijah Moore
- 12:10Speaker 3: have been obviously have had good camps and good rapports.
- 12:13Speaker 3: But you know, let's be realistic. When Week one happens
- 12:16Speaker 3: and the offense jogs out onto the field and they're
- 12:19Speaker 3: in let's say they're in thirteen sorry, eleven personnel, three
- 12:22Speaker 3: wide receivers. It's gonna be DeVante Smith, It's probably gonna
- 12:27Speaker 3: be Dantavian Wicks. I'm not sure yet who would be
- 12:30Speaker 3: that third receiver. But they're also gonna play a lot
- 12:32Speaker 3: of twelve personnel, so that would be your two wide receivers.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I'm sure they'll figure out ways to get Marcus Brown
- 12:37Speaker 3: if he's on the team some opportunities there. Dallas Goddard
- 12:42Speaker 3: is gonna be your second in line for targets though,
- 12:45Speaker 3: right so it's gonna be DeVante Smith, Dallas Goddard, You're
- 12:48Speaker 3: gonna see a lot of running with Saquon Barkley. So
- 12:52Speaker 3: as Adam Kaplan's always saying he's right, we make a
- 12:55Speaker 3: big deal about it. This Darius Cooper and Dontavian Wicks
- 12:57Speaker 3: and all the they're the fourth and fifth options on
- 13:00Speaker 3: a good day, you know what I'm saying, Like when
- 13:03Speaker 3: they face the Bears, are not the Bear, the Rams
- 13:05Speaker 3: or somebody has a really good defense. And maybe there's
- 13:07Speaker 3: only like thirty one attempts in twenty five completions and
- 13:13Speaker 3: eleven to fifteen of them to eighteen of them go
- 13:16Speaker 3: to Davante Smith and Dallas Conder. We're talking about five
- 13:19Speaker 3: to seven targets and passes for everybody else, right, don't
- 13:22Speaker 3: forget the running backs that might be catching the ball
- 13:24Speaker 3: a little bit more in this offense too. So that's
- 13:27Speaker 3: where I'm at with the wide receiver room, it's it's
- 13:29Speaker 3: Davante Smith, Dallas Goddard went healthy, I'm gonna call to pass,
- 13:34Speaker 3: catch a room, and then everybody else picks up the scraps.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Jeff looking at the offensive line, I know there's been
- 13:42Speaker 1: a lot of discussion about the depth on the O line,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and obviously the injuries were a major concern last year
- 13:48Speaker 1: and they're gonna be a major concern heading into this year.
- 13:51Speaker 1: The stemstells off over the summer lane. Johnson's probably gonna
- 13:55Speaker 1: be his last year. What do you make of the
- 13:58Speaker 1: depth on the offensive line into this year?
- 14:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's better, Nick and Pete. I think,
- 14:05Speaker 3: I mean it should be. I know, you know, Adam
- 14:08Speaker 3: and I are big on just not taking anything you
- 14:10Speaker 3: see in training camp and making any long term declarations.
- 14:13Speaker 3: But going off of last year, right, last year, you're
- 14:17Speaker 3: top guys off the bench for Fred Johnson at tackle,
- 14:21Speaker 3: Matt Pryor at sort of swing tackle and then not
- 14:25Speaker 3: and then on the inside it was what Brett toath Right,
- 14:29Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead, and I'm gonna go ahead and
- 14:32Speaker 3: say that Land that Fred, Mark Helbell and Kendall Drew
- 14:40Speaker 3: Kendall are gonna be an upgrade there. Could I be wrong, sure,
- 14:44Speaker 3: but I don't think I'm gonna be wrong. So I
- 14:46Speaker 3: think I think you're looking at better depth overall. I mean,
- 14:50Speaker 3: you need to be honestly, they better be and Mark
- 14:52Speaker 3: Albell better be better than Matt Pryor.
- 14:54Speaker 2: He just better.
- 14:55Speaker 3: You're a third round pick, and you're as big as
- 15:00Speaker 3: a mac truck. They're doing the right thing by cross
- 15:03Speaker 3: training him at left tackle, even though he's only gonna
- 15:05Speaker 3: play right tackle. So that's good there, and then we'll see.
- 15:09Speaker 3: You know, we can talk about like guys like Willie
- 15:11Speaker 3: Lampkin right, or Mike and Morris or Juku. But you
- 15:17Speaker 3: know that's now. If you're talking about your fourth and
- 15:19Speaker 3: fifth guys off the bench on the old line, you're
- 15:22Speaker 3: not talking about a very good season if those guys
- 15:24Speaker 3: have to play. So But but I do think it's
- 15:26Speaker 3: important to talk about the first two guys. And I
- 15:29Speaker 3: think Fred and Kendall or Fred and Markel that gives
- 15:34Speaker 3: you an upgrade over Fred and and and Matt Pryor
- 15:39Speaker 3: or or Fred and and Toath.
- 15:42Speaker 4: I guess, Jeff, one word we heard a lot last
- 15:44Speaker 4: year in their struggles was the word execution. And they
- 15:48Speaker 4: didn't really execute on Saturday night with the penalties and
- 15:52Speaker 4: the drops and all that. How important in this offense, Jeff,
- 15:57Speaker 4: is execution? And when you talk about blocking, timing, moving
- 16:03Speaker 4: your feet, quick routes under center and all that stuff,
- 16:06Speaker 4: how important is it for this team to execute something
- 16:10Speaker 4: that they that they just did not do last year.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's important execute, no doubt about it.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I could borrow an old line from the Bucks coach
- 16:20Speaker 3: John McKay when he was asked about his team's execution,
- 16:23Speaker 3: and he said he was in favor of it. But
- 16:26Speaker 3: that's what I was looking for, that's the question. But
- 16:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna be realistic and I'm gonna be honest. And
- 16:32Speaker 3: I know a lot of people.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Because also Jeff, I mean, Sirianni after the games that
- 16:35Speaker 4: we're a work in progress.
- 16:36Speaker 2: You know there's gonna be veins.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and I believe that. And I've referenced this before
- 16:42Speaker 3: with Mike and even on our inside the Birds pod, like,
- 16:45Speaker 3: I would not be surprised if you saw a lot
- 16:48Speaker 3: of pre snap penalties, a lot of false starts early
- 16:52Speaker 3: on some holdings or missile or maybe even illegal shifts
- 16:56Speaker 3: and motions, because you're doing a lot more of that.
- 16:59Speaker 3: And I go back to the Jaguars learning an entirely
- 17:02Speaker 3: new offense last year under Liam Cohen. And I don't
- 17:05Speaker 3: know if people remember this, because I know they won
- 17:06Speaker 3: thirteen games and were pretty good, but September was a
- 17:09Speaker 3: mess for the Jags. If you go look at them offensive.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I mean, Brian Thomas was dropping passes. Trevor Lawrence was
- 17:15Speaker 3: one of the lowest rated quarterbacks in the NFL. You know,
- 17:19Speaker 3: their run game was okay, it was nothing great, and
- 17:23Speaker 3: I think and they were bogged with penalties. And I
- 17:25Speaker 3: would expect that the Eagles, as Nick serri Andani said,
- 17:28Speaker 3: or are going to have those growing pains early on.
- 17:31Speaker 3: And I'm very anxious to see if the fan base
- 17:34Speaker 3: can be you know, patient with it. Not typically something
- 17:38Speaker 3: that we associate with our fan base and our media
- 17:40Speaker 3: as well. So we'll see. But you know, if the
- 17:44Speaker 3: Eagles start slow, it wouldn't shock me. But obviously, like
- 17:47Speaker 3: just like two thousand and four, it's gonna be how
- 17:48Speaker 3: you fit it from October on as how you play.
- 17:52Speaker 3: And they're and like the Jags last year, they were
- 17:55Speaker 3: really good come November December, I mean they were really
- 17:59Speaker 3: starting to get it. Lawrence was really starting to pop
- 18:01Speaker 3: with Parker Washington and his weapons, and the Eagles have
- 18:04Speaker 3: better weaponry than the Jaguars do, so once they do
- 18:07Speaker 3: get it, it should look good. But I do think
- 18:10Speaker 3: it's going to be a little bit slowest to begin with.
- 18:13Speaker 4: That's the rational thinking that we were looking.
- 18:15Speaker 1: At Sorry, Jeff, one last one.
- 18:21Speaker 3: And I'm sure you guys will be really, really rational
- 18:23Speaker 3: on Mondays. Eighteen points a game, right, I'm giving them
- 18:29Speaker 3: two quarters.
- 18:30Speaker 2: That's it.
- 18:30Speaker 1: The white Horse RV text line will be blowing up,
- 18:33Speaker 1: to say the least.
- 18:35Speaker 2: But Jeff, one more for you.
- 18:36Speaker 1: As we go into this week and the joint practices
- 18:40Speaker 1: at New England, we know everyone's been circling this on
- 18:43Speaker 1: their calendar for a preseason week. I should say, leading
- 18:46Speaker 1: up to the game, what is your outlook and your
- 18:49Speaker 1: expectations surrounding this whole entire week?
- 18:56Speaker 3: My outlook and my expectation, you know, I think you'll see.
- 19:00Speaker 3: I think the cool thing about practicing against the Patriots
- 19:03Speaker 3: is they are always well prepared, well coached. I mean
- 19:06Speaker 3: when I say always under Mike Rabel, especially Vrabel is
- 19:11Speaker 3: gonna have his guys ready to go, be prepared. He
- 19:14Speaker 3: is a good coach. They'll be well coached. You're playing
- 19:16Speaker 3: against a pretty good defense there that you're gonna have
- 19:19Speaker 3: joint practices against. So I think that that's gonna be
- 19:22Speaker 3: another great test for this work in progress offense. And
- 19:26Speaker 3: you know, starters aren't gonna play in the preseason game,
- 19:28Speaker 3: so these they'll script up some really good situational periods,
- 19:31Speaker 3: red zone, third down, move the ball, and it'll be exciting.
- 19:35Speaker 3: And I imagine because both of these coaches are real
- 19:39Speaker 3: sticklers on discipline and not you know, not letting things
- 19:44Speaker 3: get out of hand that yeah, there'll be some scrap,
- 19:48Speaker 3: but they'll be taking care of really quickly.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be fascinating.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I know the check go's going up there as well
- 19:55Speaker 1: to Boston for this week. But Jeff, thank you so
- 19:58Speaker 1: much for joining us on football at four. And you
- 20:00Speaker 1: got what thirteen fourteen more days of your belated birthday
- 20:03Speaker 1: and your birthday month?
- 20:04Speaker 2: All right, so enjoy birthday month?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Can I make it a birthday year?
- 20:07Speaker 1: Is that?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Is that? Okay?
- 20:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Why not? Right?
- 20:09Speaker 3: The birthday?
- 20:10Speaker 2: I love it. Go have yourself a stake today, man, Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 2: go enjoy it. Jeff, thanks so much, man, We appreciate it.
- 20:17Speaker 3: You got a fellows. Take care
