- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I'm Jennifer Lauer, writer, yogi, and fitness fanatic.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Lately, I've been having lots of coffee meetups, long,
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: honest conversations that delve into mindset,
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: identity, choices, and habits that shape our lives.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: I kept thinking how I wanted to share these conversations.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: So here we are.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Each episode moves in three beats.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: An inspirational story,
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: an interview with thinkers,
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: builders, athletes, and artists, people who want to share their own transformations.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: And we'll end with a brief meditation to practice calming the nervous system.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: If you've been connecting with the stories and conversations here,
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I've also written some fiction that explore emotional spaces.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: One is an AI dystopia, and the others are part of a paranormal mystery series.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: So if you're ever curious, you can find them on my website, jenniferlauer.com.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Today's inspo comes from another book I've been reading.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: This one is called The Audacity Experiment by Chris Corsini.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: I really enjoyed the book.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: It was really fun.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Speaking of fun, my favorite chapter, the chapter is called More Joy, More Play.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: This is such a key that in this very busy world,
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: we often forget how important play is and just relaxing and allowing all of
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: the incredibly serious things that are going on in the world,
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: the seriousness of living.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: We have jobs and bills and children and Health problems,
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: family and friends and work colleagues.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: One of the things I am trying to do more of in my life is to make joy and play more
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: of a priority.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And this is as easy as putting the phone down in the evening and taking out a puzzle
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: and putting on a record or painting.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: I've had a few people in my life recently revisit their love of painting.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I actually went to the art store and got more canvas and I haven't used it yet
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: so this is maybe a message to myself to do this and it doesn't have to be
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: that complicated.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: It could just Be a board game with friends.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Make the joy, make the play a priority.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Because playing is something that humans do so well.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: We make believe physical sports.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: We have so many opportunities for it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And I think sometimes in this age of productivity, we can forget.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Even if you have to schedule once a week something joyful.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Once a day would be preferable, really.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Do something that you think is fun.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: I know this will sound strange,
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: but I bet there are some people out there who don't even know what they would do
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: for fun because they're so busy and so encumbered with life.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: So what I would suggest, write down a few things that you like to do for fun.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: When's the last time you laughed out loud?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Was it watching a stand-up special with your favorite person?
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Was it making a new recipe, painting rocks and putting them around your neighborhood?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: There are so many different things you could do.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: I would suggest making a little list because when you have the free time to do
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: a little bit of something for fun,
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: often we won't do anything or we'll do the easiest thing.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Sometimes just making the list puts it in your brain and you're like, oh, I forgot.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, that's the last time I was laughing hysterically.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: There is no better medicine for the ills of life than laughter.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: I hope this helps.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Again, the book I'm referring to, The Audacity Experiment by Chris Corsini.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Have a good one.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Is a meditation by popular demand.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: It seems that the body scan meditation episode that we did a few episodes ago was super popular.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: I'm following that up with today's meditation.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to focus on confidence.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Some days you just need a little boost of confidence.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: You need to ground into yourself.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It's a good meditation for if you're feeling low or if you need it right before a big meeting.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Or a big experience where you just want to feel good and you want to feel embodied.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: That's kind of the goal today for this confidence meditation.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: It won't be too long so you can use it again and again if you just need
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: a little boost of confidence.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Get yourself in a seated position.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: If you are able to close your eyes, you can.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Allow your body to settle.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Just take nice, even breaths.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Allow your shoulders to release.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Your stomach to fill with air on every inhale.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Totally release any tension you might have.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Relax the glutes.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Relax the jaw.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Tune in to your inner spirit.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Tune in to your breath.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Tune in to your heart beating, your blood flowing out to all of your limbs.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: If you ever have a voice that is critical, why don't we let that voice go quiet today?
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Let's focus on how we feel.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: We're going to say a few mantras.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Tuning in to your body.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: And your thoughts, and your breath.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: A great reminder of your uniqueness.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: There's only one you, your experiences, your relationships, and your dreams.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: That's the beauty of humanity.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Each of us brings a gift to the world.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Even if the gift is just our mere presence, You are bringing your unique self to that person.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And whatever you bring to them ripples out into everyone else.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Let's take a moment to be grateful for all of the different parts of what make us unique.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Let's be grateful for our messy parts, for our weird parts, for our beautiful parts.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Because all of those things together equal you.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And you are a part of the entire consciousness.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: No matter how large,
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: no matter how small,
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: what you bring is incredibly important because there is only one you.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Let's do a couple of mantras to help us really deepen into our own spirit.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: I'm going to say each mantra three times.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Again, try to relax your shoulders,
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: relax your face, allowing your lips to part and breath to flow in and out easily.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: You can say them out loud if you like.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Even if it takes years to climb the mountain, I will go one step at a time.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Even if it takes years to climb the mountain, I will go one step at a time.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Even if it takes years to climb the mountain, I will go one step at a time.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: I allow the possibility of yes to inspire me to ask for the impossible.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: I allow the possibility of yes to inspire me to ask for the impossible.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: I allow the possibility of yes to inspire me to ask for the impossible.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: I am enough exactly as I am.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: I am enough exactly as I am.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: I am enough exactly as I am.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: As you go off into your day,
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Remember your gifts and bring to everyone you see your grounded authentic self.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Remember they are expecting you to be a gift.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we worry that others are judging us or looking for us to fail.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: But the truth is deep down we all have the desire to win.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: We all have the desire to be seen and understood and loved.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: So if you can remember when you meet the eyes of someone else today,
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: that is their deep desire as well.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: And that they're bringing their original gifts to the world just as you are.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: That maybe we can all be kinder and more bold with our decisions.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Remembering how alike we all are.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: And then also how we all bring a different gift to the table.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: So I hope these mantras have helped.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Remember you are enough exactly as you are at this moment.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: No need to change a thing in this moment right here, right now.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: You are exactly as you should be.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Please go off into your day.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Share your gift.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Just be you.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
