- 1:02Speaker 4: How crazy does that sound?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Unless you're in the water the whole time, and even
- 1:07Speaker 3: that after a while is just that is when you
- 1:10Speaker 3: know you've reached a level of soupiness, that's just it's
- 1:13Speaker 3: not going to work at all.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Last Thursday I thought about going to the pool
- 1:17Speaker 2: and then yeah, I was like nah no when we
- 1:20Speaker 2: got home from work, and then I thought to myself,
- 1:22Speaker 2: my body is not where I wanted to be physically speaking.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Nobody needs to see me topless by the pool right now.

- 1:51Speaker 2: A bit today. Okay, it's a little bit less summer
- 1:54Speaker 2: than it was last week. Oh inje. So anyway, how
- 1:59Speaker 2: are you what's bringing you joy today? Is that the
- 2:01Speaker 2: leftover fireworks you've got in the garage? What is it?

- 3:02Speaker 3: is fourth of July, with nine pm on Saturday as
- 3:04Speaker 3: the busiest hour of the year, and most of them
- 3:07Speaker 3: were about illegal or hazardous fireworks. DC police made just
- 3:10Speaker 3: four arrests on the mall, but more than a dozen
- 3:13Speaker 3: fireworks related arrests were made city wide, while medics handled
- 3:16Speaker 3: nearly seven hundred patient contacts. Meanwhile, fireworks that were not
- 3:21Speaker 3: properly put out sparked a fourth of July house fire
- 3:24Speaker 3: in Ashbourne that spread to two neighboring homes, causing nearly
- 3:29Speaker 3: one point two million dollars in damage.

- 4:06Speaker 3: processed meat as a carcinogenic. Forecast for today, we have
- 4:12Speaker 3: a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs
- 4:15Speaker 3: are going to get to about eighty six right now,
- 4:16Speaker 3: seventy five in Lorton.
- 4:18Speaker 2: You might be dragging. It's okay now that you've got
- 4:20Speaker 2: the news top stories at the top of the hour,
- 4:22Speaker 2: stay right there because we want to check in with
- 4:25Speaker 2: you and see how you're doing your morning mindset. Words
- 4:29Speaker 2: that we hope might inspire are on the way in
- 4:32Speaker 2: just a few Stay with us Washington's variety from the eighties, nineties,
- 4:37Speaker 2: and today it's a new week here at ninety seven
- 4:39Speaker 2: point one wash FM High you're done.
- 4:42Speaker 4: We're trying to.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Help you get into a better morning mindset as we
- 4:45Speaker 3: start a new week with a quote.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And we're gonna go way back for this one. Plato,
- 4:51Speaker 2: the philosopher. Remember him. Think when you were in high
- 4:56Speaker 2: school doing your studies. Plato said, the beginning is the
- 5:00Speaker 2: most important part of the work. Much like today being Monday,
- 5:05Speaker 2: is the beginning of a brand new week. Plato says
- 5:07Speaker 2: the beginning is the most important part of the work.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So if that is the case, if the philosopher Plato
- 5:13Speaker 2: is right, this morning is a brand new page. It's
- 5:18Speaker 2: a fresh page. Our challenge is to write the first
- 5:22Speaker 2: sentence this morning. Well, so what will you write Plato,
- 5:27Speaker 2: the beginning is the most important part of the week.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Keep that in mind as you get into this first
- 5:33Speaker 2: day of a brand new week. Mention your morning mindset
- 5:36Speaker 2: for this Monday, we're Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 5:38Speaker 2: You can find it on the Toby and chilipage at
- 5:40Speaker 2: WASHINGFM dot com, Insta and all of those related miscellaneous
- 5:45Speaker 2: social media type things. All Right, stay there, because in
- 5:49Speaker 2: just minutes we get warmed up on this Monday.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Well, I didn't tell you this last week, but we
- 5:54Speaker 3: had a huge success, specifically my son at the kid
- 5:58Speaker 3: Casino at the Beach.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a kid casino at the beach.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Okay, well the arcade. Well wait till you find out
- 6:07Speaker 3: all the prizes he was able to win.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Well, for a minute, I thought your son like wanted
- 6:12Speaker 2: like Texas.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Hold him or something you might as well have.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Alrighty, Then in moments we will learn about the kid Casino,
- 6:20Speaker 2: Toby and Chilli in the Morning, Washington's variety from the eighties,
- 6:24Speaker 2: nineties and today, and we're gonna talk about a kid
- 6:26Speaker 2: casino Chili. You had me at kid Casino, Toby and
- 6:29Speaker 2: Chili in the Morning, And now I'm curious how did
- 6:32Speaker 2: your son, how did he tear it up at the
- 6:35Speaker 2: casino and pull in some big winnings? What went down?
- 6:38Speaker 3: I call arcades kid casinos because to me, they're very similar.
- 6:42Speaker 3: It's like their form of gambling. You know, you go
- 6:44Speaker 3: and you play some games. The house usually wins and
- 6:46Speaker 3: sometimes you get lucky. Well, we go to the casino.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Come sorry.
- 6:49Speaker 4: We go to the.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Arcade a lot when we're at the beach. It's one
- 6:53Speaker 3: of our activities. And over the course of the last
- 6:56Speaker 3: few years, we've learned that the one arcade game that
- 6:59Speaker 3: paid that well for us is the coin Pusher. I
- 7:02Speaker 3: don't know if you've ever seen this, and they kind
- 7:07Speaker 3: of pushes and shoves it. Some of them come with
- 7:10Speaker 3: different character cards that also drop down, and if you
- 7:13Speaker 3: collect the whole set of them, you get an extra
- 7:15Speaker 3: three thousand tickets.
- 7:16Speaker 4: We accumulated over twelve thousand tickets.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Wow, that's a lot of tickets.
- 7:21Speaker 3: It was the best haul we've ever had in any arcade.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Usually those arcade prizes air quotes are like trinkets that
- 7:29Speaker 3: you can find at the dollar tree that go in
- 7:31Speaker 3: the trash and are never used. But here's what we
- 7:34Speaker 3: got that we've used many times. We were able to
- 7:37Speaker 3: get two magnetic wallets for cell phones, like the ones
- 7:41Speaker 3: you attach to the back a missting fan.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Especially over the weekend. It was very handy.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Sure, not one, but two portable bluetooth speakers.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And my favorite massage gun, you know, the thing that
- 7:54Speaker 3: has different attachments Liken.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It was not the arragun Bran.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Telling you we have used all of these things since.
- 8:03Speaker 4: The day we won them. I don't think we'll ever
- 8:05Speaker 4: top this hall.
- 8:06Speaker 3: And I will tell you this is why he's gonna
- 8:09Speaker 3: want to go back to the casino, because now he's hooked.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He's like, I mean the arcade, Yeah, I keep going
- 8:14Speaker 3: it a casine.
- 8:14Speaker 2: So where there's a number of law enforcement going Chilia
- 8:17Speaker 2: Mars taking her kid to casinos. Yeah, that's right. You'll
- 8:21Speaker 2: see him at the MGM Grand hitting the slush.
- 8:23Speaker 3: If you're asking, Chillie, if you were to purchase each
- 8:25Speaker 3: of these items individually.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Okay, yes, fine, we probably end up spending more. But
- 8:30Speaker 4: it's about the fun, that's right.
- 8:32Speaker 2: That's about the timeless memories you made with your son
- 8:35Speaker 2: and your husband at the kid casino. Anyway, if you've
- 8:39Speaker 2: got any kid casino adventures, so you want to share
- 8:41Speaker 2: with the class eight sixty six, ninety seven, forty three
- 8:44Speaker 2: sixty one. In the meantime, the News on the Way
- 8:46Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour. What's going on?
- 8:49Speaker 3: So US News and World Report just ranked the best

- 9:06Speaker 3: NATO leaders will meet in Turkey starting tomorrow, with European
- 9:09Speaker 3: allies getting ready for a future where the US plays
- 9:11Speaker 3: a smaller role in the alliance's defense. This all comes
- 9:15Speaker 3: as a president keeps pressing for changes to how NATO operates.
- 9:19Speaker 3: The US continues its World Cup run.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Today.
- 9:21Speaker 3: The men's team will battle Belgium in round of sixteen
- 9:24Speaker 3: from Seattle, the US trying to make that first quarter
- 9:27Speaker 3: finals appearance at the World Cup since two thousand and two.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Two women are dead and a firefighter is injured after
- 9:33Speaker 3: a house fire in Silver Spring early yesterday morning. The
- 9:37Speaker 3: cause is under investigation. Metro says everyone's okay after a
- 9:41Speaker 3: train derailed near the College Park station on Saturday, with
- 9:45Speaker 3: eleven riders evacuated and one taken to the hospital for evaluation.
- 9:49Speaker 3: They blame the extreme heat for warping a rail and
- 9:53Speaker 3: causing the derailment. A Winehouse report calls Smithsonian leadership, especially
- 9:58Speaker 3: at the National Museum of American hit History, untrustworthy, activists
- 10:02Speaker 3: pushing in ideal ideology out of step with the country's history. Now,
- 10:07Speaker 3: this is all part of the president's broader push to
- 10:09Speaker 3: reshape institutions he sees as too liberal and A new
- 10:14Speaker 3: ranking of the best US cities for quality of life
- 10:17Speaker 3: is now out from the US News and World Report.

- 10:27Speaker 3: topped the list, Bethesda.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Maryland, came in third. In Rockville, Maryland landed in ninth.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Forecast for today, we have a chance of some scattered
- 10:36Speaker 3: showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Heights getting up around eighty
- 10:39Speaker 3: six right now, seventy six and Laurel.
- 10:42Speaker 2: And that's the newest top stories at the top of
- 10:44Speaker 2: the hour, when you get up with ninety seven point one,
- 10:46Speaker 2: watch FM Toby and Chile in the morning in just minutes.
- 10:51Speaker 2: We want to talk to you about the fact that
- 10:52Speaker 2: there are people who are not having fun. Why aren't
- 10:55Speaker 2: they having fun because it's becoming too expensive to have
- 11:00Speaker 2: Remember this word funflation. It'll be important coming up. What
- 11:07Speaker 2: is something you used to do all the time, but
- 11:09Speaker 2: now because of funfla shit, it's just too expensive. It's like,
- 11:14Speaker 2: you know, what's become a luxury that didn't used to
- 11:17Speaker 2: feel like a luxury. Naty seven point one WATCHFM go morning.
- 11:21Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chilly in the morning. So let's talk
- 11:24Speaker 2: about this funflation, shall we.
- 11:26Speaker 3: It is true, well, it is very true, and I
- 11:28Speaker 3: think this initially came up maybe last week World Cup
- 11:31Speaker 3: ticket prices, Like even for somebody to go see a
- 11:33Speaker 3: great soccer game, it's really expensive. So these sports games
- 11:37Speaker 3: and stuff that people used to go to all the
- 11:39Speaker 3: time now they can't afford.
- 11:41Speaker 4: For us as a family, bowling.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Bowling is something we used to do so much when
- 11:45Speaker 3: my son was younger. But over the last i don't know,
- 11:47Speaker 3: five to six years, even that's become a bit much.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I don't think we can do this as often as
- 11:53Speaker 4: we could before.
- 11:54Speaker 2: It is absolutely true that everything is so much more expensive.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I used to travel a lot to have experiences when
- 12:01Speaker 2: my daughter Kyla was living with me. You know, now
- 12:03Speaker 2: she's an adult out on her own. How you like
- 12:05Speaker 2: all those expenses? No more funflation? For you. But you
- 12:08Speaker 2: notice my significant other and I haven't gone really anywhere lately.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And it's not about you know, recovering just from the
- 12:14Speaker 2: knee injury and all this stuff and the knee surgeries.
- 12:17Speaker 2: It's about everything being expensive, from our favorite places to stay,
- 12:21Speaker 2: from our favorite places to travel to even the airfare
- 12:24Speaker 2: to get there. Hold on to your wallet.
- 12:27Speaker 4: It really is.
- 12:27Speaker 3: So we were wondering, like, what's an example of funflation
- 12:31Speaker 3: in your world? It used to be fun but it's
- 12:33Speaker 3: just too darn expensive.
- 12:35Speaker 2: How did it become a luxury? Tap the talk back microphone.
- 12:38Speaker 2: If you're listening to us on your iHeart app this
- 12:40Speaker 2: morning and you're signed in, we're call age sixty six
- 12:42Speaker 2: ninety two seven forty three sixty one. Like Jordan from
- 12:45Speaker 2: Springfield has done. Jordan, the prices are out of control
- 12:49Speaker 2: on what that you used to love to do. And
- 12:52Speaker 2: thanks to funflation, you can't now go ahead one of
- 12:55Speaker 2: the movies, going to the movies, and we're in the
- 12:58Speaker 2: midst of summer block bus season right now.
- 13:01Speaker 4: It is so true.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You have to pick and choose which ones to go see.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Plus when you get there, forget about concessions. Now we
- 13:07Speaker 3: just go and watch the movie which is odd without popcorn.
- 13:10Speaker 5: It's too expensive to go, It's not it's not worth
- 13:13Speaker 5: it to me.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I don't think you're alone in that assessment there, Jordan,
- 13:17Speaker 2: thank you for call this morning from Springfield. So tell
- 13:20Speaker 2: us what's something you used to do all the time
- 13:22Speaker 2: but funflation has made it just too expensive? Now we're
- 13:27Speaker 2: listening and you should call us at eighty six six
- 13:29Speaker 2: nine two seven forty three sixty one. Thanks Funflation. Now
- 13:35Speaker 2: the things we used to love to do are way
- 13:37Speaker 2: too expensive ninety seven point one. Watch FM. We're Toby
- 13:40Speaker 2: and Chilly in the morning and we're talking about it
- 13:41Speaker 2: today eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
- 13:45Speaker 2: If you want to jump into the conversation, So Funflation.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I had said that bowling has become too expensive for
- 13:51Speaker 3: us as a family. You talked about even quick little
- 13:54Speaker 3: weekend getaways with your girlfriend have become too expensive?
- 13:57Speaker 2: Sure, traveling for experiences and sh in Pinquarter downtown. What
- 14:02Speaker 2: has become way too expensive for you to do that
- 14:06Speaker 2: you used to love to do once upon a time,
- 14:08Speaker 2: but now funflation. Believe me, I love doing this is
- 14:11Speaker 2: going to concerts.
- 14:12Speaker 4: And when did it become too much for you.
- 14:14Speaker 5: I remember when we passed one hundred hour mark for
- 14:16Speaker 5: a concert and I was like, wow, But now I
- 14:18Speaker 5: feel like it's one hundred and fifty to see a
- 14:20Speaker 5: show that I really want to see. And you know,
- 14:22Speaker 5: you want to take a date to Boom. You're into
- 14:24Speaker 5: three hundred and you haven't even gotten drinks served anything dinner.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So it's crazy. Yeah, it is totally crazy.
- 14:31Speaker 3: And you must not be a swifty because one hundred
- 14:33Speaker 3: and fifty would be considered cheap for some shows.
- 14:36Speaker 4: But honestly, it's a lot of the.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Ticket resellers that are making it impossible too.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and the fact that they nickel and dime you
- 14:42Speaker 2: on everything. Oh you printed your tickets to Tome, Well,
- 14:45Speaker 2: that's a five dollars service change, and then because you
- 14:48Speaker 2: bought the tickets online, that's another service charge. Funflation cabin
- 14:53Speaker 2: John Andrea, good morning, thanks to funflation. What's way too
- 14:57Speaker 2: expensive to do now that you used to going to
- 15:01Speaker 2: amusement parks? Are we talking like King's Dominion?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 15:05Speaker 4: Which one specifically?
- 15:07Speaker 2: Like Disneyland? Ooh, you're talking West Coast.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Disney World is just as bad.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I used to love making a trip and going to
- 15:14Speaker 3: Disneyland and forget about it.
- 15:16Speaker 4: They keep raised every twenty minutes, they're raising the price.
- 15:19Speaker 2: So that's off my list. Yeah, that's the thing about
- 15:22Speaker 2: this funflation. Everything costs more everything, right, and they're just
- 15:28Speaker 2: passing that cost right along to the consumer us and
- 15:33Speaker 2: so now we get to have no fun Thanks funflation.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Who do we blame for this? Can we call a
- 15:39Speaker 2: congress person or something? It's ninety seven point one wash FM,
- 15:43Speaker 2: Toby and Chile in the morning. All right, let's keep
- 15:45Speaker 2: everything going in minutes. We got the news Top stories

- 16:19Speaker 3: on another player's ankle. FIVA reviewed the play and suspended
- 16:23Speaker 3: the penalty. Hundreds of masked Patriot Front members marched from
- 16:28Speaker 3: Union Station to Eastern Market on the fourth of July,
- 16:31Speaker 3: carrying American and Confederate flags. Interior Secretary Doug Bergham says
- 16:37Speaker 3: although he disagrees with the group's message, he says they're
- 16:40Speaker 3: entitled to the same free speech rights as anyone else now.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Fireworks that were not properly put out sparked a fourth
- 16:47Speaker 3: of July house fire in Ashbourne that spread to two
- 16:50Speaker 3: neighboring homes, causing nearly one point two million dollars in damage.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Three people went to the hospital. The administration says they
- 16:58Speaker 3: will not rebid repairs to the Lincoln Memorial's reflecting pool.
- 17:03Speaker 3: They say they're sticking with the same contractor they did
- 17:05Speaker 3: the first time around. The repair could reportedly cost tens
- 17:09Speaker 3: of thousands of dollars, and White House officials blame vandals
- 17:12Speaker 3: for the damage. Three Red Line stations, Bethesda Medical Center
- 17:17Speaker 3: and Grosvenor Strathmore, will close today through September sixth for construction.
- 17:22Speaker 3: So Metro's running free shuttles between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights,
- 17:26Speaker 3: but writers, of course, should expect twenty extra minutes or
- 17:29Speaker 3: more on their commute. And finally, Bay Bridge travelers got
- 17:33Speaker 3: a new site this weekend. It was a giant thirty
- 17:37Speaker 3: by fifty foot American flag donated by local VFW and
- 17:42Speaker 3: American Legion posts and officials say the flag is going
- 17:45Speaker 3: to be flying on holidays like Labor Day, Veterans Day,
- 17:48Speaker 3: and other federal observances.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Toby and Chilly's nearly impossible.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Question Monday morning, what's the question?
- 17:55Speaker 3: Sixty one percent of singles have looked for ad here?
- 18:01Speaker 4: Where is it?
- 18:01Speaker 3: Here's a clue it is a web related answer like online.

- 18:30Speaker 1: Chillies nearly impossible question?
- 18:32Speaker 2: What is the question? One more time for those who
- 18:34Speaker 2: might have missed it?
- 18:35Speaker 3: Sixty one percent of singles have looked for a date
- 18:39Speaker 3: here where is it?
- 18:40Speaker 4: And it's something to do with online?
- 18:42Speaker 2: All right, you're playing for these tickets, Brian Adams, Your
- 18:45Speaker 2: nearly impossible question is on at eight sixty six nine
- 18:48Speaker 2: two seven forty three sixty one in Owings Mills, Good morning, Randy,
- 18:52Speaker 2: how you doing good? Great this morning? Did you have
- 18:55Speaker 2: a good fourth of July, sir, oh yeah, besides rain,
- 18:58Speaker 2: Well you'll have these things. We deal with storms because
- 19:02Speaker 2: they eventually end. You know, I'm trying to keep the
- 19:05Speaker 2: glass half full this morning for us. Exactly, these Brian
- 19:09Speaker 2: Adams tickets could be yours. You got the question, what's
- 19:11Speaker 2: your guess? I think it's LinkedIn? Have you ever looked
- 19:14Speaker 2: for love on LinkedIn?
- 19:17Speaker 4: I've looked of their pictures.
- 19:18Speaker 3: H okay, well maybe because the picture hasn't been impressive
- 19:22Speaker 3: enough for their resume, hasn't been impressed I don't enough.
- 19:25Speaker 3: It turns out, exactly, It turns out, Randy, that sixty
- 19:27Speaker 3: one percent of singles have looked for a date on LinkedIn.
- 19:31Speaker 4: So that's correct.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Great, thank you then, well, thank you for playing and
- 19:36Speaker 2: congratulations on the win. Enjoy Brian Adams. All right, thank
- 19:39Speaker 2: you so much, and if you want to see Brian Adams,
- 19:42Speaker 2: be here tomorrow morning right after Top Stories at the
- 19:44Speaker 2: top of the hour around seven ten for another chance
- 19:47Speaker 2: to play and win with your nearly impossible question. This week,
- 19:50Speaker 2: Brian Adams tickets up for grabs. Now stay right there
- 19:54Speaker 2: because next we Tellby and Chilly in the morning, as we.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Do every Monday, we find a story we think will
- 20:00Speaker 3: well make your Monday. This time, it's a Landover arena
- 20:02Speaker 3: that recently turned into one giant baby shower for underserved moms.
- 20:07Speaker 2: You gotta hear this. Don't go anywhere. Let's go over
- 20:10Speaker 2: to Prince George's County for this story that we think
- 20:13Speaker 2: might just make your Monday. Here at ninety seven point
- 20:15Speaker 2: one washuf M, Toby and Chilly in the morning, hundreds
- 20:18Speaker 2: packed into the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex and
- 20:22Speaker 2: Landover not for a game, but for a community baby shower,
- 20:26Speaker 2: the kind where you walk in and you leave with diapers,
- 20:29Speaker 2: maybe wipes, or a car seat and maybe just maybe
- 20:32Speaker 2: a little peace of mind.
- 20:34Speaker 3: So this was a free event and was put together
- 20:36Speaker 3: by MedStar Health and also volunteers from Clinton Baptist Church,
- 20:40Speaker 3: and it was designed with a very specific purpose, and
- 20:42Speaker 3: that was to support the black and Latino families across
- 20:46Speaker 3: the DC area who are trying to navigate the very
- 20:48Speaker 3: real pressures of raising kids in today's economy. Now we're
- 20:51Speaker 3: talking about families, we're buying formula or even a pack
- 20:54Speaker 3: of diapers isn't always a given.
- 20:56Speaker 2: But it's not just about the stuff, No, families, they
- 20:59Speaker 2: also cannnected with resources for housing, insurance, snap Wick. It
- 21:04Speaker 2: was a one stop shop for support that a lot
- 21:07Speaker 2: of these parents well, honestly, they didn't have easy access
- 21:10Speaker 2: to this stuff before they walked through the doors.
- 21:12Speaker 4: And here's a bigger picture.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Black and Hispanic mothers in Prince George's County face significant
- 21:17Speaker 3: health's disparities when it comes to prenatal care, and infant
- 21:20Speaker 3: deaths in the black community have been on the rise
- 21:23Speaker 3: in recent years.
- 21:24Speaker 2: This event is one community's answer to all of that,
- 21:28Speaker 2: showing up, filling in the gaps, making sure families know
- 21:31Speaker 2: they're not doing this thing called life alone. It's now
- 21:36Speaker 2: in its third year and judging by the turnout, it's
- 21:39Speaker 2: only getting bigger.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So thank you so much to MedStar Health and also
- 21:44Speaker 3: from the volunteers at the Clinton Baptist Church for putting
- 21:46Speaker 3: on this community baby shower and giving us a story
- 21:50Speaker 3: that really did make our Monday.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And if you want to read more about it, get
- 21:53Speaker 2: to the Toby and Chilly page at waschipfim dot com.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Oh you've got a story that you think we should
- 21:57Speaker 2: share that might just make our Monday, Well send it
- 22:01Speaker 2: to us. We can't wait to read it. And as
- 22:04Speaker 2: we keep things rolling. We've got Top Stories at the
- 22:06Speaker 2: Top of the Hour coming up in just a few
- 22:08Speaker 2: What are you working on.
- 22:09Speaker 3: We all know that a lot of teens and young
- 22:11Speaker 3: adults struggle with mental health, but you might be surprised
- 22:14Speaker 3: to find where these young people are turning for advice.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 22:24Speaker 3: NATO leaders will meet in Turkey starting tomorrow, with European
- 22:28Speaker 3: allies getting ready for a future where the US plays
- 22:31Speaker 3: a smaller role in the alliance's defense. This all comes
- 22:34Speaker 3: as the President keeps pressing for changes to how NATO
- 22:38Speaker 3: operates well. The US continues its World Cup run today,
- 22:41Speaker 3: with the men's team battling Belgium in the round of
- 22:45Speaker 3: sixteen in Seattle. The US is trying to make its
- 22:48Speaker 3: first quarterfinals appearance at the World Cup since two thousand
- 22:51Speaker 3: and two. DC's nine one one Center logged thousands of
- 22:55Speaker 3: calls this Fourth of July, with nine pm Saturday apparently
- 22:59Speaker 3: as the busiest hour of the year, and most of
- 23:01Speaker 3: those calls were about illegal or hazardous fireworks. Police say
- 23:05Speaker 3: they made just four arrests on the mall, but more
- 23:08Speaker 3: than a dozen fireworks related arrests citywide. The White House
- 23:12Speaker 3: released a report on Saturday accusing Smithsonian leadership of pushing
- 23:16Speaker 3: political activism over honest history. They singled out the National
- 23:21Speaker 3: Museum of American History for allegedly downplaying the founders. This
- 23:26Speaker 3: all follows an executive order from the President targeting what
- 23:29Speaker 3: he called divisive historical narratives. Metro says, Everybody's okay. After
- 23:34Speaker 3: a train derailed near the College Park station on Saturday,
- 23:38Speaker 3: investigators blamed the extreme heat for warping a rail and
- 23:41Speaker 3: causing that derailment, and a new study finds at about
- 23:45Speaker 3: one in five teens and young adults turned to AI
- 23:48Speaker 3: chatbots for mental health advice last year. Nearly two thirds
- 23:53Speaker 3: kept it a secret from their parents or doctors, and
- 23:56Speaker 3: researchers warned that chatbots upbeat responsive may reflect flattery rather
- 24:02Speaker 3: than actual sound guidance. Forecast for today, we have a
- 24:06Speaker 3: chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, with highs
- 24:09Speaker 3: around eighty six. Right now seventy seven in Beltsville.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Well, in case you missed it, over the holiday weekend,
- 24:15Speaker 2: there was a wedding of sorts at Madison Square Garden
- 24:20Speaker 2: in New York City. I wonder who we're talking about. Well,
- 24:25Speaker 2: in case you missed it. We'll tell you about this
- 24:27Speaker 2: wedding and we'll unpack everything that we saw and share
- 24:31Speaker 2: our thoughts in just a few She didn't know. It
- 24:37Speaker 2: is National ice Cream Month and during the summer months,
- 24:39Speaker 2: the average person eats eleven scoops of ice cream a week.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Ninety seven point one Wash FM. We're Toby and Chilly
- 24:45Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 24:46Speaker 3: As far as favorite brands in Virginia, it's Coldstone Creamery.
- 24:49Speaker 3: For Marylanders, it's Tilenti and in DC, Jenny's Splendid ice Cream.
- 24:56Speaker 2: You had me at ice cream? Can we have some
- 24:59Speaker 2: magic shell in bluebell on this list? So where do
- 25:02Speaker 2: you want to start? When we talk about the Taylor
- 25:04Speaker 2: Swift and Travis Kelsey wedding over the weekend, there's so
- 25:08Speaker 2: many angles and nobody exactly knows what really happened except
- 25:13Speaker 2: for the people who were inside. And well, of course
- 25:16Speaker 2: you have that many people inside, some things are going
- 25:17Speaker 2: to drip out. Ninety seven point one WATCHFM. We're Telby
- 25:20Speaker 2: and Chile in the morning. Where do we begin?
- 25:22Speaker 3: Well, I think one of the things that leaked initially,
- 25:24Speaker 3: Toby was that Adam Sandler officiated the wedding and that
- 25:29Speaker 3: there were no bridesmaids or groovesmen like Jason was Travis's
- 25:32Speaker 3: best man and Austin, Taylor's brother, was the man of honor.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Right on, So let's start with the Adam Sandler officiating
- 25:40Speaker 3: and singing, like, does that surprise you in any way?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Or that's Travis Kelsey putting his stamp on the entire thing?
- 25:46Speaker 4: You think it was Travis?
- 25:47Speaker 3: Ah, hey, sure put me in Happy Gilmore to let
- 25:49Speaker 3: him officiate the wedding, right And I also think too
- 25:52Speaker 3: that there's got to be some camaraderie between all three
- 25:55Speaker 3: of them, between Taylor, Travis.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And Adam Sandler. So it's kind of a cool thing,
- 25:59Speaker 2: you know, and he's ordained, so you know what game on.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Here's another thing we learned, TMZ saying that each of
- 26:06Speaker 3: them gave twenty minute vows and that Taylor sang part
- 26:09Speaker 3: of her vows. That's a lot of talking to each other.
- 26:12Speaker 3: For the guests had to sit through forty minutes of vows.
- 26:15Speaker 2: There was that, But I also really liked what I
- 26:17Speaker 2: heard about those vows that they brought both of them
- 26:20Speaker 2: to tears, and that's the sign of true love, real
- 26:23Speaker 2: like a real connection.
- 26:25Speaker 4: You know, they definitely have a connection.
- 26:26Speaker 2: You can talk that long about one another, sing a
- 26:29Speaker 2: song and then boom tears. Yes, I'm sure it was magical.
- 26:33Speaker 3: And they were expecting other people of the twelve hundred
- 26:35Speaker 3: guests to also cries, so they were all handed handmade
- 26:39Speaker 3: handkerchiefs with two tees intertwined so that they could wipe
- 26:43Speaker 3: their tears away while they.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Were twined with hearts at this garden party inside the
- 26:48Speaker 2: garden that is known as Madison Square Garden. It's just
- 26:51Speaker 2: oh my, it'll all be real clear when the Disney
- 26:55Speaker 2: Plus special releases later on this fall.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yes, you believe that's going to happen, right, Yes, going
- 27:00Speaker 3: to be a televised something.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Would not have had her video crews and people there,
- 27:05Speaker 2: She would not have had that stage done up the
- 27:08Speaker 2: way it was done. There's always something else.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Paul McCartney singing, I mean a.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Song that he hadn't sung in decades.
- 27:15Speaker 4: I want to hold your hand. Yeah, I mean that's intense.
- 27:17Speaker 3: So I think that there's a lot to that rumor
- 27:20Speaker 3: that this is going to be televised because her fans,
- 27:22Speaker 3: well they deserve all the Swifties deserve to be part
- 27:25Speaker 3: of the ceremony.
- 27:26Speaker 2: When she did bring them in too. She did announce
- 27:28Speaker 2: it right there on Madison Square Garden when it was done,
- 27:31Speaker 2: so it's not like the world didn't know. The world
- 27:34Speaker 2: absolutely knew. And it was beautiful from what I'm told.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I think Mamma Kelsey called it magical when she was
- 27:41Speaker 2: asked during the Macy's Fourth of July parades.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and also now we just wait to see the
- 27:47Speaker 3: door tucks and door dress she reportedly wore.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Don't forget about the custom low bouton shoes either.
- 27:52Speaker 4: We'll see if any photos leak Since straight up flex.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning at ninety seven point
- 27:58Speaker 2: one wash Chef Ben, have you seen the fountains are
- 28:02Speaker 2: flowing again. There's new stuff popping up all over DC.
- 28:06Speaker 3: And now Freedom Plaza has reopened after months of rehab,
- 28:10Speaker 3: including now a dozen life size statues of revolutionary war heroes,
- 28:14Speaker 3: plus a new monument that honors the patriots who died
- 28:17Speaker 3: on the British prison ships America.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Is it just me, Chi Leaders, This seem like one
- 28:24Speaker 2: of those weeks where people are like on vacation, And
- 28:27Speaker 2: I think you're right, it's a little odd, a little
- 28:30Speaker 2: quiet around here at the office. Hopefully it's a quiet
- 28:32Speaker 2: week for you. Hopefully it's not too crazy. Thanks for
- 28:35Speaker 2: joining us this morning. It's ninety seven point one washing
- 28:37Speaker 2: FM Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Before we bounce out of here and have Jenny Chase
- 28:41Speaker 3: come in, we always like to leave you with a
- 28:43Speaker 3: quote to get you into a good morning mindset.
- 28:48Speaker 2: The philosopher Plato would remind us on this Monday, the
- 28:52Speaker 2: beginning is the most important part of the work. The
- 28:56Speaker 2: beginning is the most important part of the work. It's
- 29:00Speaker 2: kind of appropriate for a Monday, at brand new week.
- 29:03Speaker 2: This is your new page, Mike. Is that first sentence,
- 29:10Speaker 2: and we will talk to you tomorrow. Have a great day.
- 29:14Speaker 1: What more Toby and Jilly head over to WASHAFM dot
