- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi baby, Hey man, you dude. Oh man, I'm starting
- 0:05Speaker 1: to get cabin fever. On lockdown again. No, we're not
- 0:11Speaker 1: on lockdown yet. We will be on lockdown soon. Is
- 0:13Speaker 1: that what they're saying about it? Later? They're going to
- 0:15Speaker 1: shut it back down. No, they're not saying. Nobody's saying
- 0:18Speaker 1: that right now. But what if these numbers keep trending
- 0:21Speaker 1: the way they're trending. I mean, it's gonna be the
- 0:26Speaker 1: way it is. You know, animation takes a really long time.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It takes so long. Can you hire someone to help
- 0:35Speaker 1: you with your project? No, I could, I've I've I'm
- 0:41Speaker 1: not at that stage yet, but it takes really really long.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And we haven't even started. We're not even close to
- 0:48Speaker 1: animating yet. We're you know, we're still putting the writer's
- 0:52Speaker 1: room together. But thank you so much Adult Swim for
- 0:57Speaker 1: giving us the budget to put a writer's room together.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Hiring writers, Yes, because I'm really excited. That's a lot
- 1:06Speaker 1: of fun and I've never done that before and it
- 1:07Speaker 1: would be really cool to bounce side. Now. Do you
- 1:09Speaker 1: have lots of people that you have worked with before
- 1:12Speaker 1: that you think might be good for this. I was
- 1:15Speaker 1: told this is what I was told, you never know
- 1:19Speaker 1: how someone is in the writer Someone could be really
- 1:21Speaker 1: great at pitching ideas and stuff like that to you,
- 1:25Speaker 1: but when they get into a writer's room, it could
- 1:27Speaker 1: be something completely different. So I went out and I
- 1:30Speaker 1: vetted a bunch of people. I talked to a bunch
- 1:32Speaker 1: of people. The people that I also also people that
- 1:35Speaker 1: I wanted to be in the writer's room because this
- 1:37Speaker 1: takes so long, because animation takes so long. They were
- 1:42Speaker 1: available and now they're no longer available. And so I
- 1:46Speaker 1: remember being in the Scrubbe writer's room and there were
- 1:49Speaker 1: there were sort of all different types of writers at
- 1:51Speaker 1: the table. There were some people like Mike Schwartz's in
- 1:54Speaker 1: this episode as Lloyd, for example, who were just hilarious
- 1:57Speaker 1: with jokes, jokes, jokes, jokes, jokes, some of them not
- 2:00Speaker 1: even usable in the show, just a hilarious human being
- 2:03Speaker 1: and um. And then there are people who were like
- 2:05Speaker 1: really good story. They weren't necessarily the jokes people, but
- 2:08Speaker 1: they would help you break the whole arc of the episode.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And so Bill had assembled this sort of team of
- 2:13Speaker 1: different people with different skill sets. Right, but this one,
- 2:18Speaker 1: this one is just ideas as of right now. And
- 2:21Speaker 1: but we're not there yet. We haven't even opened up
- 2:24Speaker 1: the writer's room yet. We've got the people, the people
- 2:27Speaker 1: that are going to do it there, they've all said yes, good,
- 2:30Speaker 1: But now we're waiting on I guess the availability. I
- 2:34Speaker 1: don't know what we're waiting on now. But we're not
- 2:36Speaker 1: doing it this week. We were supposed to start this
- 2:38Speaker 1: week and now we're starting next week. Okay, animation takes forever. Dude,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Well but you're not animating anything right now. You're just
- 2:43Speaker 1: in the writing phase. But animation period takes forever. Like
- 2:47Speaker 1: that's that's the that's the rule of thumb in the
- 2:51Speaker 1: industry of animation. You know, it always takes forever. Every
- 2:56Speaker 1: meeting is so important. Okay, Well, I would have thought
- 3:00Speaker 1: that the writing was no different than any other writing.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You're just writing. You're not sitting there trying to move
- 3:04Speaker 1: a piece of clay around. No, but you got to
- 3:06Speaker 1: write to the specs of the first of all, you
- 3:10Speaker 1: got to write to scale. You have to write too,
- 3:13Speaker 1: all right, we have a budget, so you can't get
- 3:15Speaker 1: out of control and write something that's so crazy that
- 3:18Speaker 1: you know, right, well, that's like anything I'm wriking an
- 3:20Speaker 1: indie movie. I can't make it. There be a plane
- 3:22Speaker 1: crash right exactly? Can happen off camera? Though? Right? Oh
- 3:30Speaker 1: my god, look at that plane crash exactly. But with
- 3:36Speaker 1: with animation you can you can be big to a
- 3:38Speaker 1: certain point and then kind of got a scale back.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So well, you you know, you could probably a lot
- 3:45Speaker 1: from Seth Green because he's done this right. He could
- 3:48Speaker 1: be a good mentor to you. Well, I'm working with
- 3:50Speaker 1: his company. He's always been Him and Matton have always
- 3:57Speaker 1: been very very very very generous. You should invite Seth
- 4:01Speaker 1: Green to come on the podcast. It'd be a lot
- 4:03Speaker 1: of fun. I wonder if you'd do it. Why would
- 4:05Speaker 1: set are your friends with Seth Green? Why would Seth
- 4:08Speaker 1: Green be too cool for school to do our pode?
- 4:10Speaker 1: We're a Scrubs rewatch show, so he'd probably be like
- 4:13Speaker 1: I was never on Scrubs. Well that doesn't matter. We
- 4:15Speaker 1: could do a special episode with Seth Green where we
- 4:17Speaker 1: talk about his very long career and how he segued
- 4:20Speaker 1: into producing Robot Chicken and all the many things he's done.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm down to have him one. Seth dat po Danel,
- 4:28Speaker 1: wouldn't you be interested in that? Daniel very much? So?
- 4:31Speaker 1: I love Seth Green. Yeah, I love Seth Green too.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Why you guys are speaking my language here? Look, Seth
- 4:36Speaker 1: Green is. Seth Green is a beloved performer, very much.
- 4:39Speaker 1: So Seth Green's amazing. I want to talk to him
- 4:42Speaker 1: about being um Um the Sun to Um doctor doctor Evil, Scott.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You want to talk to him about Scott Evil? Yeah?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Um should be getting the show. Sure, where's Joel Joel um?
- 4:59Speaker 1: We had to move our time today and Joelle couldn't
- 5:01Speaker 1: do noons, so she's dry joining us late and a
- 5:06Speaker 1: rapt little Oh so this is gonna be a slightly
- 5:09Speaker 1: more masculine show. Let's get this stunt stories about show.
- 5:17Speaker 1: We made about a bunch of doctor nurses stories. So
- 5:28Speaker 1: YadA around here, a yado around here. What an episode.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It is the moment that where everyone's lives changed and
- 5:42Speaker 1: we got to see Donald's do the poison dance. This
- 5:46Speaker 1: is a very, very epic episode. This is the episode
- 5:49Speaker 1: where zb had his had pulled some stunt casting and
- 5:54Speaker 1: had his then girlfriend with my girlfriend Lee Mandy Moore
- 5:58Speaker 1: on the show to be his new love interest. And
- 6:02Speaker 1: she's great. She's so funny in it. She's really good,
- 6:05Speaker 1: she's really funny. She's got great comic timing that man anymore.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And there's got a lot of it's got saltine, It's
- 6:12Speaker 1: got Yeah, let's just start with the biggest topic. I
- 6:15Speaker 1: know we've touched on this before, but slow it down, Okay.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Tell everyone the story of how you didn't even read
- 6:22Speaker 1: the script for the poisoned dance. You had been told
- 6:26Speaker 1: to put together a little routine because you're a good dancer,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and you showed up and had no clue and had
- 6:31Speaker 1: to improvise a dance that has now been made immortal
- 6:34Speaker 1: in Fortnite. First of all, I think I was also
- 6:38Speaker 1: late that day. So I am so at this point,
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm newly divorced, and I'm out on the town. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm dating again, and so and also Scrubs is really really,
- 6:53Speaker 1: really really popular at this point, right, So you were
- 6:56Speaker 1: out and about at the clubs, as the kids say,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I was out in the clubs trying to make it happen,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you know, like everybody else that was at the club
- 7:05Speaker 1: trying to make it happen. Anyway, So I think I
- 7:08Speaker 1: was late, and I remember getting there and the whole
- 7:13Speaker 1: cruise there, and I'm like, what the hell is going on?
- 7:15Speaker 1: And Bill goes, Oh, you gotta dance, and this this
- 7:19Speaker 1: is the episode where you know you did? You truly
- 7:22Speaker 1: know nothing about this. I had no clue what we
- 7:25Speaker 1: were doing that day? Did we? Did we? You know,
- 7:27Speaker 1: because some episodes we'd have read through, and very more
- 7:30Speaker 1: often than not, we didn't. This was not one of
- 7:32Speaker 1: those read through episodes. And if it was, I don't remember.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't remember, I don't listen. I got there and
- 7:39Speaker 1: I was totally caught off guard. Like, okay, so you
- 7:41Speaker 1: got there and everyone's waiting, you're late, you're probably hungover,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and they're like, hey, you know about the dance routine
- 7:47Speaker 1: that you're gonna do right right? But I couldn't understand
- 7:49Speaker 1: why the whole, the whole, the whole company, everybody from
- 7:55Speaker 1: Scrubs from Crafty to everybody's in the room to watch
- 7:59Speaker 1: this ship. And I'm like, because they probably thought Donald
- 8:01Speaker 1: has worked out some hilarious dance. We want to see it.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So Rob goes first, and Rob really did work out
- 8:12Speaker 1: or Rob had probably rehearsed for two weeks, and so
- 8:15Speaker 1: we're block shooting also, so everything has to be this way,
- 8:18Speaker 1: and everything is facing the television right right right, and
- 8:22Speaker 1: Rob goes first, and I have to immediately go up
- 8:25Speaker 1: after him. All right, now, when you're watching Rob, you're
- 8:27Speaker 1: going too fast. When you're watching Rob, are you laughing? Yeah, dude,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I can't stop laughing. I can't say I can't stop
- 8:34Speaker 1: laughing because he literally did the whole song. So Rob
- 8:37Speaker 1: does the whole working foot. He even has everyone's watching
- 8:41Speaker 1: to see what you can He's worked out a whole routine.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Oh right, Like I'm not even sure if it's in
- 8:49Speaker 1: the where he goes oh, where he's singing like he
- 8:52Speaker 1: goes hardcore. Yeah, the whole song. It's not an exaggeration
- 8:57Speaker 1: to say that he probably worked that out over the
- 8:59Speaker 1: course of two weeks. Yes, like literally, like, dude, he's
- 9:02Speaker 1: got can you come out and play? And he throws
- 9:05Speaker 1: up like a ball, an imaginary ball, and hits it
- 9:08Speaker 1: with a bat you know what I mean, an imaginary bat.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Like by the way they go U, I love that
- 9:14Speaker 1: they go a nice job on the costume and he
- 9:16Speaker 1: goes what costume, Ye, my normal gear, But that's not
- 9:20Speaker 1: his normal stuff. We know that. We know that the
- 9:22Speaker 1: todd well, that might be his air banding uniform. I
- 9:27Speaker 1: don't know anywhere anywhere you're watching and you're going, Todd's
- 9:29Speaker 1: killing it. What's going through your head? Are you? Are
- 9:31Speaker 1: you starting to think about like what you're gonna do? No,
- 9:34Speaker 1: because I all I know is the song is Poison,
- 9:37Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, I got this shit. Just please
- 9:40Speaker 1: be faster than I remember, because sometimes songs come on
- 9:43Speaker 1: that you used to dance to and they're a little
- 9:45Speaker 1: bit slower than you remember them being, and so the
- 9:48Speaker 1: moves that you're gonna do to them don't necessarily fit.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And I'm like, if it's poison, I think I could
- 9:53Speaker 1: do this if I you know, and it comes on,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I'm fucking drunk. Everybody's watching, You're drunk. You're still drunk. No,
- 10:02Speaker 1: Like I'm like still hungover from the club, Like I'm
- 10:05Speaker 1: still it's in me, you know what I mean? Like
- 10:07Speaker 1: this shit's still in me? Now? Was this a bell?
- 10:10Speaker 1: It's a bell? BIV Devoso one of the best bands
- 10:13Speaker 1: ever in the history of my life were New Addition,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and then what came from New Addition Ralph Tresh. Now
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm watching watching This is Pop on Netflix and there's
- 10:22Speaker 1: a whole section. Um but anyway, so does any of
- 10:28Speaker 1: these moves? Were they a part of their music video?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Or you just know. I was just riffing. Like when
- 10:34Speaker 1: I was a kid, we did we used to do uh.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Me and my buddies would do new addition like concerts
- 10:42Speaker 1: like we would do. We'd put the music on and
- 10:45Speaker 1: we'd work out routines and stuff like that, and we'd
- 10:48Speaker 1: each pick one of the band members to be And
- 10:51Speaker 1: so a lot of the moves that I did in
- 10:54Speaker 1: this were from me being a kid in us, me
- 10:57Speaker 1: and my buddies dancing and stuff like that. But as
- 10:59Speaker 1: far is putting it together and and and uh in
- 11:03Speaker 1: an order or anything like that, that's I had no
- 11:07Speaker 1: clue what I was. Like, I know, you're just freestyle.
- 11:09Speaker 1: That's what's so amazing about it is that you hadn't
- 11:11Speaker 1: It's one thing that you're a good dancer, which you
- 11:13Speaker 1: naturally are, but you also are just improvising this. You
- 11:17Speaker 1: don't really know where you're going next with it. No,
- 11:19Speaker 1: you did it so seamlessly. Yeah, well, you know, part
- 11:23Speaker 1: of it's like the lyrics and because I knew the
- 11:26Speaker 1: song so like this was one of my jams back
- 11:28Speaker 1: in the day, Like I used to rub this shit
- 11:30Speaker 1: all it's poison poison, yes, Spider Man A freeze and
- 11:33Speaker 1: full effect. Like I knew the ship by heart regardless,
- 11:37Speaker 1: so when it came on, I was like, oh, this
- 11:40Speaker 1: is this is gonna be easy. And what was great
- 11:42Speaker 1: it was when they cut finally and everybody cheered. Part
- 11:47Speaker 1: of me was like, you know, oh, thank god, I
- 11:50Speaker 1: just dodged a bullet. But the other part was like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: you know the other another part of me was like,
- 11:55Speaker 1: oh shit, I wonder how this is gonna look when
- 11:58Speaker 1: when people see it, because and I knew it was
- 12:01Speaker 1: gonna be good because I remember I was dating a
- 12:03Speaker 1: girl at the time, and John Michelle, when he was
- 12:06Speaker 1: editing this, called me into the editing bay and she
- 12:09Speaker 1: was with me. I made her come to work with me,
- 12:11Speaker 1: or she dropped me off at work that day, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: I remember her being so fucking pissed off that she
- 12:16Speaker 1: had to drop me off at work. And John Michelle
- 12:18Speaker 1: called me in with her to see the rough cut,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and he's like, dude, you gotta see this, and she's like,
- 12:23Speaker 1: And I remember the girl being like, she sits down
- 12:26Speaker 1: and watches and it comes on, and her whole attitude
- 12:30Speaker 1: shifted as she was watching it. She went from being
- 12:33Speaker 1: so pissed off that she had to be there to
- 12:36Speaker 1: being so impressed, and I remember being like, oh, this
- 12:38Speaker 1: ship could be fire. And when it came out, you know,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I knew a lot of people, a lot of talk,
- 12:44Speaker 1: a lot of people ago. This is two thousand and six.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I looked it up and this is something that Scrubs
- 12:49Speaker 1: fans adore and has come up so many times in
- 12:54Speaker 1: our life. And of course there was it was like
- 12:57Speaker 1: what do you call it? For the fortnight? But even
- 13:00Speaker 1: even with Fortnite, even though Fortnite did it like it was,
- 13:03Speaker 1: it pops up and it would pop up in memes
- 13:05Speaker 1: and all types of shit. Yeah all the time. People
- 13:07Speaker 1: love it. Now did you only do one take? Yeah?
- 13:10Speaker 1: That's only one take? Wow? Wow she had she had
- 13:13Speaker 1: shot two sizes, probably simultaneously. Yeah. No, it was every year,
- 13:16Speaker 1: it was two cameras. Yeah, let everybody. Yeah, well it's
- 13:20Speaker 1: very funny man. And then and then your whole arc
- 13:24Speaker 1: in this episode is so funny that you you piss
- 13:27Speaker 1: off Kelso So then he's he's made up no air
- 13:30Speaker 1: banding signs, which is like footloose if you really think
- 13:33Speaker 1: about it, dancing it's the plot of footlooseing Scrubs. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:38Speaker 1: so that's Lloyd the guy air banding is the drummer
- 13:41Speaker 1: is Mike Schwartz, one of the funniest writers on Scrubs,
- 13:44Speaker 1: really really great guy. And he would play Lloyd. We've
- 13:46Speaker 1: spoken about him before and uh and he got Sammy playing.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I think sam was a left handed guitarist right, yes, yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 1: well he played the bass. He played on the Janitors,
- 13:58Speaker 1: playing bass in the Yeah, but usually, but usually Sam
- 14:02Speaker 1: would play bass like with his band. Okay, in real
- 14:05Speaker 1: life he would play a left handed bass, but he
- 14:07Speaker 1: plays it left handed. Now. I noticed at the end
- 14:09Speaker 1: everyone's pretty much is selling it well like like obviously,
- 14:13Speaker 1: Muschwartz is a decent must be a decent drummer. He
- 14:16Speaker 1: looks like he knows what he's doing, right, Neil is
- 14:19Speaker 1: at least making it look like he's playing the bass.
- 14:21Speaker 1: We listen to that song over and over and over again. Sammy,
- 14:25Speaker 1: he's like firing away on the fucking left handed guitar.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I had never heard more than a feeling until this moment,
- 14:31Speaker 1: until you shot it, until I shot it that day.
- 14:34Speaker 1: That's funny. That's a famous song. Yeah, more than a
- 14:37Speaker 1: feeling and used to play Scrubs by the way, I
- 14:44Speaker 1: was just before you before you continue scrubs. Wicky pointed
- 14:47Speaker 1: out something that I didn't even know that you say
- 14:51Speaker 1: a line that a lot of people say wrong without
- 14:55Speaker 1: knowing it. It's not I may be dreaming, it's I
- 14:58Speaker 1: begin dreaming. Oh okay, I'm just saying there's probably a
- 15:03Speaker 1: lot of people whose minds are blown right now because
- 15:06Speaker 1: they know the song very well, including Daniel count one
- 15:09Speaker 1: right here, Including Daniel. I had that recently with Tea Pain.
- 15:13Speaker 1: You guysn't you guys to buy you a drink? Yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 1: and then I'm gonna take you home. I always thought
- 15:21Speaker 1: it was oh, we I'm gonna take you hope, But no,
- 15:24Speaker 1: he says. And then the bartender she made us drinks
- 15:31Speaker 1: to drink. We drunk. The men got drunk. Shit gets
- 15:35Speaker 1: me every tale that Tea Paint, that's tea Pain, you know,
- 15:39Speaker 1: I feel such I feel such an affinity for Tea
- 15:42Speaker 1: Pain ever since he was on this This is Pop
- 15:45Speaker 1: Special and said that Usher put him to a four
- 15:48Speaker 1: year depression for saying he ruined music. So sad. I
- 15:52Speaker 1: don't mean to laugh, because I depression is real, and
- 15:54Speaker 1: I know the man isn't lying, But I mean, I
- 15:56Speaker 1: don't know anything about tea Pain and he was so
- 15:59Speaker 1: heartfelt and documentary I felt so bad for them. I
- 16:02Speaker 1: call them and fucking apologized. Dude. That dude had some
- 16:06Speaker 1: of the hottest songs I ever heard in my life. Man, hell,
- 16:09Speaker 1: buy you a drink. I'm in love with the stripper
- 16:12Speaker 1: features for days. Dude, He's on everything. Well, you said,
- 16:17Speaker 1: was it you were? The No? Was it you were?
- 16:19Speaker 1: The documentary that they say that all these rappers they
- 16:22Speaker 1: didn't want to be associated with with the with the
- 16:24Speaker 1: auto tune, but they wanted his hooks, so they had
- 16:28Speaker 1: him do the fucking hooks with the sound that was
- 16:31Speaker 1: so popular, and then they'd rap over it and they
- 16:33Speaker 1: felt like, I'm not really doing that shit. Tea Pains
- 16:35Speaker 1: do it in the back of exactly exactly in the
- 16:38Speaker 1: document right, Yep. They knew it was popular. They were like, Okay,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I want to use this, but I'm not doing that.
- 16:42Speaker 1: You doing Wayne? Wayne did it so many so did Kanye.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Kanye didn't. Yeah, they talk about that in the documentary.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I'm telling you, Donald, you love this documentary.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And for those of you who actually take our recommendations
- 16:55Speaker 1: on like Donald, check it out. I'm gonna continue watching
- 16:58Speaker 1: the next one is, uh, I watched Auto Tune one,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and then there was the boy band one. Have you
- 17:03Speaker 1: watched them all? Now? I watched I watched the first four.
- 17:06Speaker 1: The next one is the about the Swedish songwriters. Yes,
- 17:10Speaker 1: about how all the pop started to be coming out
- 17:12Speaker 1: of Swedish Sweden Stock. Well, I'm gonna just put it
- 17:15Speaker 1: out there, the people that deserve a lot of a
- 17:18Speaker 1: lot of respect in the game right now, because what
- 17:22Speaker 1: they did was they took their style and ran with
- 17:24Speaker 1: it new addition into Jackson five for sure, like all
- 17:27Speaker 1: the Motown boy band's new addition. But then also Brandy Norwood,
- 17:31Speaker 1: Brandy mo to the e to the Moitia, Brandy, all
- 17:35Speaker 1: of these when she was out, no but her and
- 17:38Speaker 1: Monica were only two doing it. And then all of
- 17:42Speaker 1: these little girls came out doing their music too. That's
- 17:44Speaker 1: why you got Mandy Moore. That's how you got freaking
- 17:46Speaker 1: How dare you lump Mandy Moore in with I'm just
- 17:50Speaker 1: but that's how you got Mandy. That's how you got
- 17:52Speaker 1: freaking Jessica. I don't think there's a Brandy episode of
- 17:55Speaker 1: the This is Pop. But they all know, but all
- 17:57Speaker 1: of them know, all of them. Know. If it wasn't
- 17:59Speaker 1: for Brand's paving the way for these young artists to
- 18:03Speaker 1: see how it's done, it wouldn't have been done. Did
- 18:06Speaker 1: we shout about I'm the same I'm saying, mocassow. I
- 18:09Speaker 1: think it's I'm gonna say it on the side of
- 18:11Speaker 1: the mountaintop or something. No, it's I'm gonna say it
- 18:13Speaker 1: once again. I'm not gonna stop. I'm gonna say it
- 18:15Speaker 1: once again. I'm not gonna stop. I thought I was.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it on the side of the mountaintop.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it on the side of the mountaintop. Google.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I still like I still like Mama saying I'm aside
- 18:24Speaker 1: my CROs That's what I always say. I'm saying. But
- 18:27Speaker 1: apparently it's I'm gonna say it once again. I'm not
- 18:29Speaker 1: gonna stop, right Agana, I'm gonna say it one more time.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm not gonna stop. I'm gonna say it one more time.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm not gonna stop. I'm saying on my time, I'm
- 18:36Speaker 1: not gonna stop. I'm gonna saying one time. I'm not
- 18:38Speaker 1: gonna stop. I'm gonna saving on a time. I'm not
- 18:40Speaker 1: gonna stop I'm saving them say what say yea, um,
- 18:50Speaker 1: there you go. You've learned something today on the podcast.
- 18:53Speaker 1: It's uh, it's it's I'm gonna say it once again.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I'm not gonna stop. It's not I'm gonna say Mama,
- 18:59Speaker 1: say mocassa. It's not. I'm gonna say it on the
- 19:01Speaker 1: side of the mountaintop. And it's not. That's hilarious. Somebody
- 19:06Speaker 1: actually told me that once. I'm gonna say it on
- 19:08Speaker 1: the side of the mountaintop. Wait what why not just
- 19:11Speaker 1: on the top of the mountain? Just go to the
- 19:12Speaker 1: top of the mountain? Why are you? Why are you?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Why are you going to be on the side? Why
- 19:15Speaker 1: not go all the why not? Why not go all
- 19:17Speaker 1: the way to the top of the mountain? You've come
- 19:19Speaker 1: this far, hit the summit. Maybe he gets tired along
- 19:22Speaker 1: his I'm gonna saying, fucking I can't go no further.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I just gonna say it on the side of the mountaintop. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 1: I was gonna stay. My plan when I set out
- 19:31Speaker 1: this morning was to say it on top of the mountaintop.
- 19:33Speaker 1: But I'm fucking tired, so I'm just gonna say it
- 19:36Speaker 1: on the side of And also, it's I'm it's not
- 19:44Speaker 1: I may be dreaming. I may be dreaming, it's I
- 19:48Speaker 1: begin dreaming. So there you go. Um, all right, so
- 19:53Speaker 1: there's a very funny subplot where JD is trying to
- 19:56Speaker 1: rub it in Elliott's face that he's landed this beautiful,
- 20:00Speaker 1: stunning girl. Yes he's not just beautiful, but she's his
- 20:03Speaker 1: exact female doppelganger. Yes, she's dorky, she likes Harry Potter,
- 20:09Speaker 1: she doesn't like sports, she drives a scooter. Not only that,
- 20:13Speaker 1: she's willing to put on old people makeup just to
- 20:16Speaker 1: take a picture. Okay, so let's talk about that. Mandy
- 20:19Speaker 1: and I are dating, and I wrote her into doing
- 20:22Speaker 1: the show, which she was happy to do because she
- 20:24Speaker 1: loved Donald, she loved everybody. She loved the show, She
- 20:26Speaker 1: loved Bill and there, in true Scrubs fashion, like great, Um,
- 20:30Speaker 1: we have a new scene. You guys are gonna be
- 20:33Speaker 1: in eight hours of makeup, And yeah, I remember her
- 20:36Speaker 1: being such a good sport about that. The funny thing is,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I really I was looking at that. I really look
- 20:41Speaker 1: like and you know my dad before he passed Donald,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I looked a lot like my dad, didn't. Guy, Yeah,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you did look like a dad. You did a great job.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And I've done you know those apps where you where
- 20:51Speaker 1: they show you what you look like when you're old,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and it looks a lot like this. This makeup job
- 20:55Speaker 1: like this. This team did a great job. The only
- 20:58Speaker 1: thing is it's a little bit. It's a little it
- 21:01Speaker 1: looks a little heavy. Let's say, the skin all looks
- 21:05Speaker 1: heavy on YouTube, but Mandy went on to do that
- 21:08Speaker 1: for a living with this. Yes, oh yeah, and it's
- 21:10Speaker 1: kind of the same. And it's kind of the same
- 21:12Speaker 1: plot you say, you know, I wanted to take a
- 21:14Speaker 1: picture of us when we were old, just in case
- 21:16Speaker 1: one of us dies in some horrible accident or some
- 21:19Speaker 1: shit like that. And the dude dies in a fire
- 21:21Speaker 1: and we're watching it. Isn't that a spoiler? Bro? I
- 21:23Speaker 1: don't watch this as us, but didn't you just fucking
- 21:25Speaker 1: say a spoiler for people that are just starting this
- 21:27Speaker 1: A is us tonight? I'm sorry, but he dies somehow,
- 21:36Speaker 1: and I could face full face cast to do this,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you know what they do. I don't know if they
- 21:43Speaker 1: do it this way anymore, because it seems really fucking dangerous.
- 21:46Speaker 1: They cover you with this what is it? It's like
- 21:50Speaker 1: a drying it's a drying mold, right, and it's a
- 21:54Speaker 1: limited time. There's like three guys working on you at
- 21:56Speaker 1: one time because it starts setting. It's kind of like
- 21:59Speaker 1: that shit they put in the tray in the Dennis
- 22:01Speaker 1: office to take impressions, but around your whole fucking head.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And what they do is they I don't know what
- 22:08Speaker 1: it is. I'm sorry, I forgot what it is. They
- 22:10Speaker 1: put straws in your nostrils, right, so you could breathe,
- 22:14Speaker 1: and then they cover your whole face except for your nostrils,
- 22:18Speaker 1: and you have to just chill and like keep calm
- 22:21Speaker 1: while it sets. If you're claustrophobic, it's you're fucking you're dead.
- 22:25Speaker 1: You're dead. If you're you could not have it. The
- 22:29Speaker 1: best thing to do is to fall asleep. No, they
- 22:32Speaker 1: I think I think they said they recommended like taking
- 22:34Speaker 1: like an anti anxiety, something like xanax or valium or something.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I don't even know if we did that, but I
- 22:38Speaker 1: remember they're being like, you might some people do take
- 22:42Speaker 1: the edge off with a little anti anxiety medicine marijuana. No,
- 22:47Speaker 1: that would be the opposite for me, that would rely
- 22:49Speaker 1: that would make me like more panic. Did you look
- 22:52Speaker 1: what it says, Daniel, it's what they use. Um. Yeah,
- 22:55Speaker 1: there's like a bunch of different language. So there's silicone putty.
- 22:58Speaker 1: There's also just they call it hutt a lot cavics,
- 23:01Speaker 1: color change algein it. Yeah. But anyway, if you the
- 23:06Speaker 1: closest thing related to is that fucking colored shit they
- 23:09Speaker 1: put in the tray at the Dennis office and take
- 23:11Speaker 1: impressions of your teeth, smells and taste so good. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 1: Now imagine all over your face and the only way
- 23:16Speaker 1: you can breathe is through two straws in your nostrils.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I better hope I would pray for. The good news
- 23:23Speaker 1: is once an effects house has done it to you, uh,
- 23:27Speaker 1: they keep your head on file. Really. Yeah, so that
- 23:31Speaker 1: when I went to go use the same effects house
- 23:33Speaker 1: for I wish I was here stuff They don't digitally
- 23:36Speaker 1: do it. Now, that's a very good question. I think
- 23:39Speaker 1: if it's prosthetics, they still take an impression. I remember
- 23:42Speaker 1: asking the woman when I was recently visiting Legacy Effects
- 23:45Speaker 1: and she said they don't do the nostrils straw thing anymore.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That she said, that's really dangerous because if you know,
- 23:53Speaker 1: if something happens and a booger. Let's just say a booger. Yeah,
- 23:57Speaker 1: I think she was. She implied that they just don't
- 23:59Speaker 1: cover the bottom of the nose at all, but they
- 24:02Speaker 1: don't like stick straws up there. Um, so I'm trying
- 24:08Speaker 1: to compete with Elliott. I'm trying to rub it in
- 24:09Speaker 1: her face that I've got a hot chick. And I go,
- 24:12Speaker 1: what's waiting for me in my room is what's known
- 24:14Speaker 1: in the football terms. And what the fuck did he say? Oh?
- 24:23Speaker 1: He says it, you remind me of my mom. That's right, No,
- 24:27Speaker 1: you smell like my mom. Yeah, you smell like my mom.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Walked right, A woman doesn't want to hear that. He
- 24:32Speaker 1: jumped in the bed and was like, oh, you smell
- 24:35Speaker 1: like my mom. She was like two seconds like what
- 24:39Speaker 1: did I say? I walked in when you want my mom? Yeah?
- 24:42Speaker 1: And she left. She didn't like that. But then later
- 24:45Speaker 1: I smell her and I go, mummy, mummy. But but
- 24:48Speaker 1: you also flip it on her. You flip it. And
- 24:50Speaker 1: he's like, I didn't say you smelled like my mom.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I said you smelled like me mom. Memm, No, my mom, my, mom,
- 24:57Speaker 1: my mom? Which is what a flower or something? Yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 1: which it's a flower that grows in some region somewhere.
- 25:03Speaker 1: What about when um, I say, I haven't I haven't
- 25:06Speaker 1: hit it in a little while, but there's good reason,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and Cox goes, yeah, his face and his personality sticks
- 25:12Speaker 1: and stones will and then I good forever, So I
- 25:21Speaker 1: don't hold of a second. JD killed a pony. Jad
- 25:25Speaker 1: apparently killed a pony while doing a prank to Elliott.
- 25:29Speaker 1: The prank was pretending that he was the car was
- 25:31Speaker 1: rolling down a hill and it had no brakes, right,
- 25:34Speaker 1: And Elliott says, I really didn't like it. And also
- 25:37Speaker 1: we learned and later in the episode that not only
- 25:38Speaker 1: did JD kill a pony, but was a hit and run. Yeah. Stop,
- 25:43Speaker 1: it's not really feels out a character for JD to
- 25:48Speaker 1: hit and run a pony, yeah, and a family's pony,
- 25:51Speaker 1: which means only reason they would the only reason they
- 25:53Speaker 1: would have that knowledge is if the family was standing
- 25:55Speaker 1: there right with the pony, like you killed the pony
- 25:58Speaker 1: in front of a little girl and and and then
- 26:00Speaker 1: screeched off, And then it really feels out a character
- 26:06Speaker 1: for JD. But Elliot certainly remembers it and doesn't doesn't
- 26:10Speaker 1: like it. Yeah, it's trying to give JD dating advice
- 26:14Speaker 1: because he's horrible. He always says the wrong thing. But
- 26:18Speaker 1: what I don't understand is how did it go from
- 26:23Speaker 1: you dating uh Julie to Elliott dating Julie and then
- 26:28Speaker 1: you saying to Elliott, stay away from my girlfriend and
- 26:32Speaker 1: stay away from my JD wigs right. Well, because the
- 26:35Speaker 1: fantasy had there's two there's multiple misdirects in this with
- 26:39Speaker 1: the fantasy. The first one is when we go to
- 26:41Speaker 1: us those old people and you think this is them old,
- 26:44Speaker 1: and then we pull the makeup off to reveal that no,
- 26:47Speaker 1: that we've hired the top effects firm in Los Angeles, Yes,
- 26:51Speaker 1: to create old age make up for us, Yes, and
- 26:55Speaker 1: apply seven hours worth of prosthetics just so we could
- 26:59Speaker 1: take a picture. In case one of us dies horribly horribly,
- 27:05Speaker 1: we'll have this memory of us being old together. One
- 27:08Speaker 1: one of you will have this memory of you, guys
- 27:10Speaker 1: being right now. The second time that happens is we
- 27:12Speaker 1: go to a fantasy and you think it's me making
- 27:15Speaker 1: out with Elliet with with Julie, but then you reveal
- 27:19Speaker 1: that it's Elliott, and you think that it's Elliott as
- 27:23Speaker 1: j D. Right, but then break it down again, he says, oh,
- 27:28Speaker 1: and thanks for calling me j D. Right, So it's
- 27:31Speaker 1: really Elliott dressed up as JD is just so that
- 27:34Speaker 1: she could date. Yes, And then JD puts it all
- 27:39Speaker 1: together and tells Elliott to stay away from his girlfriend,
- 27:44Speaker 1: but also to stay away from his JD wigs. It
- 27:49Speaker 1: must be for the first prosthetic that he had when
- 27:51Speaker 1: they were doing the old people. Why does JD have
- 27:54Speaker 1: j D wiggs for the old man j D for
- 27:57Speaker 1: old man j D. No, because old man j D
- 28:00Speaker 1: had old man hair, right, But that's one of his
- 28:02Speaker 1: JD wiggs. I don't know. I just I don't know
- 28:05Speaker 1: because in the in the in the makeup room, in
- 28:08Speaker 1: the hair and makeup room, there were so many JD
- 28:10Speaker 1: wigs for different stunt people and for different purposes. They
- 28:14Speaker 1: literally were like multiple JD wigs. Stay away from my girlfriend, Elliott,
- 28:19Speaker 1: and stay away from my JD wigs. YEA, Season five
- 28:27Speaker 1: is crazy, man, even five is great though. I love it. Yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: it's so good. They'll never know what you're gonna get it.
- 28:33Speaker 1: It's just a bag of bat shit. Yeah, it's nuts,
- 28:37Speaker 1: it's Literaliott tells me that I shouldn't have we flash
- 28:40Speaker 1: back to us making out, and she as an example,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I go, are you getting thicker? That's not something to
- 28:48Speaker 1: feel to say? How do you tell your woman? You know,
- 28:52Speaker 1: sometimes a man might truly be saying, especially you Donald's
- 28:56Speaker 1: who has always appreciated the thicker female form, be saying like,
- 29:00Speaker 1: m baby, you're so thick and juicy. You can't to
- 29:05Speaker 1: my wife. Really, what if you want to appreciate like
- 29:10Speaker 1: these curves? Girl? Yeah, my wife works out way too
- 29:13Speaker 1: much too for me to say some dumb shit like
- 29:16Speaker 1: that get killed. How could you say it in a
- 29:20Speaker 1: way that she might appreciate. Damn, I love the way
- 29:23Speaker 1: your body feels against mine, so like, hold, I'm writing
- 29:26Speaker 1: this down. Wow felt that shit. It's like what Elliott
- 29:31Speaker 1: says to JD in this episode. She says, just say,
- 29:34Speaker 1: I'm so lucky I found you. Yeah, I'm happy I found,
- 29:37Speaker 1: glad I found I'm glad I found you, which is magical.
- 29:41Speaker 1: It has like a magic effect on Julie because everybody
- 29:45Speaker 1: wants to feel that way. Everybody wants to feel appreciated,
- 29:49Speaker 1: everybody wants to feel loved. One more thing about the
- 29:51Speaker 1: audition that's so funny is when when Sam, who says
- 29:56Speaker 1: it is Sam, he's gonna be trouble about you. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 30:01Speaker 1: but he's just so damn talent talented. Yeah, he becomes
- 30:06Speaker 1: a captain talent talent good, he's gonna be trouble. I
- 30:14Speaker 1: never you did turn out to be trouble. I turned
- 30:16Speaker 1: out to be trouble because I disrespected doctor Kelso. Yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 1: you really went all in on Kelso for some reason
- 30:22Speaker 1: had a burst of having no fear of him at all. Yeah,
- 30:25Speaker 1: out of nowhere. So uh. Cox in this episode has
- 30:28Speaker 1: a hard time showing affection to his son. Now is
- 30:31Speaker 1: this a thing? I mean, I must be right, because
- 30:33Speaker 1: there's plenty of men out there who said their dad's
- 30:35Speaker 1: barely hugged them, their dad's never kissed them there, but
- 30:38Speaker 1: you're you, For example, over my dad, my dad hugged
- 30:42Speaker 1: me and kissed me. Yeah, my dad too, that's weird.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Would my dad would go for the lips sometimes, which
- 30:49Speaker 1: I I didn't really love as an adult man, I
- 30:52Speaker 1: didn't appreciate it. Yeah, but I loved his cheek kisses
- 30:54Speaker 1: and his forehead kisses. I just wasn't I wasn't always
- 30:57Speaker 1: down for a for a lip peck. My mom too
- 31:00Speaker 1: goes for the lip peck. Sometimes I'm all right with
- 31:03Speaker 1: kissing my mom every now and then on the lips.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think it's like I made you give me those lips, right,
- 31:09Speaker 1: That's how I treat my kids. Right, But you are.
- 31:12Speaker 1: But also your kids are little made you. But anyway,
- 31:14Speaker 1: if Donald and I can give you a public service announcement,
- 31:17Speaker 1: if you're a father, kiss your freaking kid and hug
- 31:20Speaker 1: your freaking kid. Don't be like Cox. Give them hugs,
- 31:24Speaker 1: give them love, give them affection. Don't bring this stupid
- 31:26Speaker 1: masculinity bullshit into it. Right, Donald, preach real talk. The
- 31:30Speaker 1: last thing you want your kid to ever say is
- 31:32Speaker 1: your hits are like hugs to me, Dad, It's the
- 31:34Speaker 1: last thing you ever want to hear your kids say. Well,
- 31:38Speaker 1: my father was a big hugger. So is mine. So
- 31:41Speaker 1: is mine. Yes, you're lucky that you still get to
- 31:44Speaker 1: receive those hugs. So hug your parents. But the love
- 31:47Speaker 1: of God, Cox's character triggered me. We should got a break, right, Yeah,
- 31:53Speaker 1: let's got a break. We'll be right back with more,
- 31:56Speaker 1: including the introduction of Hide the Salt Team, and we
- 32:06Speaker 1: are back. Sorry, thank you, Casey, Guad, don't hate to rabbit.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I want you to know that. I was upstate New
- 32:15Speaker 1: York this weekend with some friends, including my friend Preston
- 32:19Speaker 1: that you know and love, and I played for him
- 32:22Speaker 1: the Casey song and they thought it was fuego really,
- 32:27Speaker 1: and we sang it a lot up there. It became like,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you know, one of the jams of the weekend. Really, Yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 1: I don't know none about raising these foods, so tell
- 32:39Speaker 1: me what to do, nothing about raising these kids, Like, hey,
- 32:43Speaker 1: you go nothing about raising these kids. That's wood, it ease,
- 32:48Speaker 1: and that's wood. Hide the Saltine. I did not know
- 32:53Speaker 1: find the salt Find the saltin right, find the Saltine.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And I did not know it was three players. I thought,
- 32:59Speaker 1: I'll aways thought it was only two players. Well, I
- 33:01Speaker 1: thought it was still you and I thought it was
- 33:03Speaker 1: just a JD and Turk thing. Now, yeah, obviously a
- 33:06Speaker 1: game that the janitor knows about, right, because you go,
- 33:09Speaker 1: you play, and then he pulls and then he pulls
- 33:13Speaker 1: a salteine out from behind his ear. Right, should we
- 33:16Speaker 1: do an ask Bill here and ask where the fuck
- 33:18Speaker 1: find the Saltine? Game? From? Yes, Bill, Bill, this is
- 33:22Speaker 1: a very wacky episode. It's got air banding, it's got
- 33:26Speaker 1: find the Salteine? Where the heck did find the Salteine
- 33:30Speaker 1: come from? Can you please tell us, tell the audience,
- 33:33Speaker 1: tell our fans, tell our listeners. What is the genesis
- 33:39Speaker 1: find the Salteae? Hey, guys, I miss you. I don't
- 33:43Speaker 1: know if that's because I'm busy or because you guys
- 33:47Speaker 1: haven't asked me as much to be on my podcast,
- 33:52Speaker 1: but um, even if my feelings are hurt, I'm going
- 33:55Speaker 1: to try and answer this question, just like in a
- 33:59Speaker 1: positive best friend type away, where did the game find
- 34:04Speaker 1: the salteam come from? On a lot of TV shows,
- 34:07Speaker 1: what you do is you have writers that write the
- 34:10Speaker 1: TV shows and then they hang out in the room
- 34:14Speaker 1: and then they come up with things that they might
- 34:15Speaker 1: think are funny, and then they put them in these
- 34:18Speaker 1: things that we distribute to you guys called scripts. All right,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I don't know where it came from. Goes, we just
- 34:28Speaker 1: made it up. That sounds a little cranky. I just
- 34:32Speaker 1: miss you. Donald. Your kids look beautiful, Zach, you look handsome.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And the one thing I can say think it about
- 34:40Speaker 1: this question is you got graveled. That at least was
- 34:44Speaker 1: real because we used to put pebbles in each other's
- 34:47Speaker 1: shoes in the writer's room, and I think find the
- 34:50Speaker 1: salteam came from getting graveled. And I hope to see
- 34:53Speaker 1: you guys soon and gravel one, if not both of you,
- 34:56Speaker 1: but not Joel, but definitely danil see you guys. Thanks Bill.
- 35:02Speaker 1: So j D gives Elliot bones city, right, well you
- 35:11Speaker 1: do that, but you also you you know Elliott warned
- 35:14Speaker 1: you don't take things too fast, right, and you do
- 35:16Speaker 1: something that I've I don't even think you never did
- 35:19Speaker 1: to Turk with Turk. You gave Julie the key to
- 35:22Speaker 1: your wizard hat chest. First of all, it's a really
- 35:29Speaker 1: funny mislead. It's like you think I gave her the
- 35:31Speaker 1: key of the apartment. It's like she's even trying to
- 35:33Speaker 1: open a door to the apartment. But I'm like, no,
- 35:36Speaker 1: it's but I'm it's like it's better right right? And
- 35:39Speaker 1: then I feel like this is the kind of thing
- 35:41Speaker 1: that you, Joel and Daniel would actually appreciate, like a
- 35:45Speaker 1: key to a secret wizard hat box. Hell, yeah, does
- 35:50Speaker 1: she have her own? Or does do you give her one?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I think that's a very good question. Now, is this
- 35:57Speaker 1: JD's wizard hat collection and I'm letting her use mine?
- 36:01Speaker 1: Or did I specifically buy her her own wizard hat,
- 36:04Speaker 1: because then within less than three seconds, you guys have
- 36:07Speaker 1: already taken the picture. The picture, it's a portrait that's
- 36:10Speaker 1: been Yeah, income coming from is there a Is there
- 36:17Speaker 1: a unicorn in the pick? In the in the Yeah,
- 36:19Speaker 1: we are on a unicorn. I don't know. I don't
- 36:21Speaker 1: know if the unicorn. I don't know if the unicorn
- 36:23Speaker 1: posed for the portrait or not. Do you think that
- 36:30Speaker 1: the artist um had creative license and added the unicorn?
- 36:34Speaker 1: Or do you think we we hired a hired r
- 36:36Speaker 1: You hired him to do. You guys are like, what
- 36:39Speaker 1: would be He was like, well, what would you guys
- 36:41Speaker 1: like to be doing? Because I could do the picture
- 36:43Speaker 1: sitting picked the picture of just like you guys. Of
- 36:46Speaker 1: course we're sitting on the unicorn. How much extra is
- 36:48Speaker 1: it for us to be sitting on a unit? I mean, well,
- 36:52Speaker 1: I have other fictitious animals that we could wow Pegasus, Yeah, Pegasus.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I don't know if it has wings or not, I
- 37:02Speaker 1: don't remember, but it is a unicorn. It is definitely
- 37:04Speaker 1: a unicorn, and you guys are definitely serious. Now that
- 37:06Speaker 1: was a painting that was around forever. I didn't. I
- 37:08Speaker 1: didn't know what to do with it. Did you keep it? Well? Eventually,
- 37:12Speaker 1: Manny and I weren't dating any longer, and I remember,
- 37:14Speaker 1: so what do you do with that? What do you
- 37:16Speaker 1: do with a giant portrait of you and your ex
- 37:18Speaker 1: girlfriend and wizard hats riding at Pegasus? What do you
- 37:21Speaker 1: what do you do with that masterpiece of art? I
- 37:24Speaker 1: don't know. I was never in my house. I just
- 37:25Speaker 1: remember it was. It was in someone's office at Scrubs.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Someone somewhere is like, I got a picture, I got
- 37:32Speaker 1: a painting. This is weird painting of Zach. There's no
- 37:35Speaker 1: way that there's no way that picture got destroyed. Some
- 37:38Speaker 1: writing what could be either a Pegasus and or Unicorn.
- 37:42Speaker 1: If you are a member of the Scrubs crew and
- 37:45Speaker 1: you listen and you have any idea what that portrait is,
- 37:47Speaker 1: please let us know. We would I wonder where it is.
- 37:51Speaker 1: We would like to ask you where it is displayed.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I would love to walk into someone like that. Mandy.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Mandy just had a baby. I'd like to send to
- 38:00Speaker 1: Mandy as the congratulations on your baby present and he's
- 38:07Speaker 1: a mom. Wow, yeah, I know, I can't believe it.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Congratulations to congratulations man, he listens to the podcast, but
- 38:13Speaker 1: if she but if you do, congratulations to you and
- 38:17Speaker 1: your new baby. Turk goes to apologize to Kelso, and
- 38:21Speaker 1: Kelso says he doesn't give a rat's ass about the
- 38:25Speaker 1: apology because he has so many things going on with
- 38:30Speaker 1: his life anyway, one of them being his son. Has
- 38:34Speaker 1: a play off off Broadway, Yeah, called Doctor Dad. It's
- 38:40Speaker 1: not off Broadway's Buffalo. Yeah, he got over in Buffalo.
- 38:44Speaker 1: What does that mean? He got held over in Buffalo, Gona.
- 38:47Speaker 1: It's gonna keep Oh my god, someone someone one day.
- 38:56Speaker 1: She just compile all of the stories about Kelso's gaze. Yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 1: well he's a successful play right too, Doctor Dad. Listen,
- 39:04Speaker 1: Doctor Dad is being held over in Buffalo. That means
- 39:07Speaker 1: at least sold some tickets today. It's a musical, right, yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 1: it is a musical. It is a musical, Doctor Ja.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I laughed so much at this episode, like it's crazy, dude,
- 39:28Speaker 1: just crazy crazy. I really didn't remember that Season five
- 39:32Speaker 1: was was noticeably more wacky and sillier and funnier. This
- 39:37Speaker 1: is outrageously crazy, all right, So, Julie we um we
- 39:42Speaker 1: were we got our wizard hats and we got a
- 39:44Speaker 1: portrait and we're on matching scooters and we pass a
- 39:48Speaker 1: sign that says land for sale. Pretty much, it's an acre,
- 39:52Speaker 1: it's a half acre. It's a half acre. This episode
- 39:55Speaker 1: is called My half Acre. I believe right, dyes, um
- 39:59Speaker 1: and um. We also learn a little side note that
- 40:02Speaker 1: the janitor stores or has been caught storing deer meat
- 40:06Speaker 1: in Kelso's office mini. Where is he? Well, he's clearly
- 40:13Speaker 1: a hunt hunter. Yeah, he's a hunter because he did
- 40:15Speaker 1: have a squirrel army. But why this feels like if
- 40:18Speaker 1: you're the janitor of a giant hospital, the head janitor
- 40:20Speaker 1: of an enormous hospital, why would you choose the head
- 40:23Speaker 1: of the hospital's mini fridge destroy your dear meat. There's
- 40:26Speaker 1: got Clearly Troy has some place in the walk in
- 40:31Speaker 1: crazy ice. Margo could probably find a spot for you
- 40:35Speaker 1: right in the fridge, right. I don't know. I love
- 40:38Speaker 1: little things like that that come out and scrubs one
- 40:40Speaker 1: liners that like we're talking about the pony, like they
- 40:43Speaker 1: just meant to be like one line punch lines. We're like, wait, wait,
- 40:46Speaker 1: let's just dissects. This was a hidden run and it
- 40:50Speaker 1: was on a date with Elliott, and we know that
- 40:53Speaker 1: it was a family's pony, so if you put that
- 40:56Speaker 1: match together, the family was standing when they're with the pony,
- 41:00Speaker 1: and JD tried to impress Elliott during a date and
- 41:02Speaker 1: pretended his brakes were out. The prank winner Rye. The
- 41:07Speaker 1: pony was killed, and we sped off and then sped
- 41:10Speaker 1: off before asking if anybody was okay. The j of
- 41:20Speaker 1: the janitor is a deer hunter, or actually it's knowing
- 41:23Speaker 1: the janitor. It's probably even funnier if he had nothing
- 41:26Speaker 1: to do with killing the deer. He just needed a
- 41:27Speaker 1: place to stores menicon. Yes, I noticed there was a
- 41:33Speaker 1: lot of improv in this episode. A lot of there
- 41:35Speaker 1: were actually I take it back, there was a lot
- 41:37Speaker 1: of in this episode. Every time the cold open, they
- 41:41Speaker 1: didn't had to get out of it like they could tell,
- 41:43Speaker 1: so they just had like what if I jump from
- 41:46Speaker 1: here to there and hurt myself? No, I go eagle.
- 41:53Speaker 1: There's a lot of prat falls in this episode. When
- 41:55Speaker 1: all those failed, just have JD falls in his face. Well,
- 41:58Speaker 1: Mandy falls on her face. Mandy had a very nice fall,
- 42:00Speaker 1: by the way. I remember on the day that one
- 42:02Speaker 1: in the restaurant, she was so game four. The stunt
- 42:05Speaker 1: woman did the biggest part of the tumbler, but I remember,
- 42:07Speaker 1: you know, she still had to she still had to
- 42:09Speaker 1: do a sort of big drop back without a matt that.
- 42:14Speaker 1: You know. It was a bit of a this is
- 42:16Speaker 1: gonna hurt, but it'll be funny and uh, and she
- 42:19Speaker 1: was game. She went for it. Here it is. And
- 42:21Speaker 1: I remember we were dating and I was like, yeah, girl,
- 42:24Speaker 1: you take that stunt fall, darling, You're good at this.
- 42:30Speaker 1: So Turk also, So Turk finally gets up the nerve.
- 42:34Speaker 1: You know, the janitor presses to him. You know, the
- 42:36Speaker 1: reason why he's upset isn't because you said no to
- 42:41Speaker 1: the procedure he's mean to say no to speaking for him.
- 42:45Speaker 1: He's upset because you disrespected him. And so Turk apologizes
- 42:49Speaker 1: for disrespecting Kelso to Kelso. And we learned that the
- 42:57Speaker 1: cool Cats don't just rock together. I mean, they just
- 43:00Speaker 1: they rolled together. And then you have like a band
- 43:07Speaker 1: shake where you just tap your cast to go cool Cats,
- 43:09Speaker 1: cool cast. But it's gotta be low. It's gotta be
- 43:11Speaker 1: real low. It's always real low. It's always like cool
- 43:14Speaker 1: Cats back. Do you remember if that comes I don't
- 43:17Speaker 1: know if it ever comes back again. But I laughed
- 43:21Speaker 1: very hard at oh shit. I laughed very hard when
- 43:25Speaker 1: the janitor says when when he when he when he
- 43:27Speaker 1: pulled out his salt team when you're like, do you play? Dude?
- 43:30Speaker 1: I laughed very hard when Ted breaks his imaginary bass.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Why Ted break is because Kelso tells him to get
- 43:38Speaker 1: back in his cage and he takes off his bass
- 43:40Speaker 1: and throws him on the ground and go, oh, I
- 43:43Speaker 1: shouldn't have done that? Was that Ted? Or? Yeah? What about?
- 43:46Speaker 1: What about when Mike Schwartz says, Lloyd, uh, you see
- 43:50Speaker 1: him put the the pantomime drumsticks in his back pocket. Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 1: that's real commitment. Yeah. Now we pull up to a
- 44:02Speaker 1: half acre and we're moving so fast, even though Elliott
- 44:05Speaker 1: appears in the realtor sign and says, what are you doing?
- 44:08Speaker 1: You always do this, You always go so fast. You're
- 44:12Speaker 1: gonna buy land with this woman? And I say, the
- 44:15Speaker 1: only thing I've got in my portfolio is some Eastern
- 44:18Speaker 1: Airline stock and an unopened pack of lay missed trading cards.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Did they did they make lay Miss trade? I'm sure
- 44:26Speaker 1: they do, Daniel. Can you check if if lay Miss
- 44:29Speaker 1: Trading cards are thinking? Would Preston though Preston would definitely know.
- 44:33Speaker 1: But but Daniel's gonna look it up. Um, I had
- 44:38Speaker 1: Three's Company trading cards. How could there not be lay
- 44:40Speaker 1: Miss trading cards? Wait, you had three Company trading cards?
- 44:43Speaker 1: Who would There's only five characters on the whole damn show. No,
- 44:47Speaker 1: it was like remember how trading cards used to be
- 44:49Speaker 1: like you know these when we were growing up there
- 44:51Speaker 1: were trading cards for everything. It would be like, you know,
- 44:54Speaker 1: so it was like that funny moment where John where
- 44:57Speaker 1: Jack fell over the couch, and then it would be
- 44:59Speaker 1: like Chrissy like this, and it would just be like
- 45:02Speaker 1: a moment from the scene. Got it, Yeah, go ahead, Daniel.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Not a ton of trading cards, lots of like fan
- 45:08Speaker 1: made kind of stuff, but unfortunately no official Layman's trading.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Let's get into this, Donald, Tops, Tops, make it happen. Tops, listen, Tops.
- 45:18Speaker 1: I know that we don't have any rights to the
- 45:20Speaker 1: income from this, but you have two packs sold. If
- 45:24Speaker 1: you make Lama's Trading cards, I would also like Lama's
- 45:28Speaker 1: funco pops. Um. All right, I think we did most
- 45:34Speaker 1: of it, right, Do we have a guest? Guests just arrived?
- 45:37Speaker 1: All right, good, I'm gonna whisy Winkle and we'll be
- 45:40Speaker 1: right back with a very exciting guest. And we're back.
- 45:51Speaker 1: We're back. We're back. We're back back back but back
- 45:54Speaker 1: back back but but back but back. Daniel, you know
- 45:56Speaker 1: this bamp bampa bamp bamp bamppapa pop up? What is
- 46:00Speaker 1: that R? That sounds like? Oh, I was I was
- 46:04Speaker 1: gonna say rush. I was gonna say rush. Weren't gonna
- 46:06Speaker 1: say rush rush. That's a great, that's say rush down.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I did say bell biv DeVoe. I'm not gonna lie.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I was going to say Metallica and be wrong. Just
- 46:18Speaker 1: gotta be. You got rush even from that. All right,
- 46:22Speaker 1: bring them in, bring me our guests. We gotta call
- 46:28Speaker 1: it talks to show dudes, you know, like a ball
- 46:32Speaker 1: smoke some maybe talking about the episode. So come on, Joan,
- 46:37Speaker 1: let's get the show. Ladies and gentlemen. Give it up
- 46:43Speaker 1: for shan happening. Sean, you are on the show, and
- 46:59Speaker 1: tell who's with you? All right? This is my boss.
- 47:02Speaker 1: His name is Kenny. Yeah. Nice. You guys are in white.
- 47:08Speaker 1: I'm telling the audience they're in white lab coats. They're
- 47:11Speaker 1: wearing they're wearing masks. Surgical assuming you can't take off
- 47:15Speaker 1: your masks because you're at work, and that's the rule. Okay,
- 47:18Speaker 1: and um that's all we know. There's a sign behind
- 47:21Speaker 1: them that says no eating or drinking. Inside there appears
- 47:25Speaker 1: to be fluorescent lighting and just a little bit of
- 47:28Speaker 1: a hint of a cloud picture deep in the background
- 47:31Speaker 1: on a maroon wall. All right, what's up, guys? Where
- 47:34Speaker 1: are we? What's happening? Yeah, so we're we're in a
- 47:37Speaker 1: conference room at the Innovation Center beyond meats and oh
- 47:42Speaker 1: beyond meat get on, because there was an episode I
- 47:47Speaker 1: think in season zero whereas accaid like, oh yeah, I
- 47:50Speaker 1: beyond meating it. It's pretty good. And we're like, oh yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 1: we're here in a couple of shout outs. So we're like,
- 47:54Speaker 1: oh man, maybe that's our way in. So this is
- 47:57Speaker 1: your way in because by I listen, I want to.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I'm glad that Joel Joel, who can't be here right now.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I'm glad she organized this because Donald and I are
- 48:05Speaker 1: are both having varying degrees of success getting off land animals. Yeah,
- 48:11Speaker 1: I am one hundred, not one hundred, I'll say ninety
- 48:15Speaker 1: eight percent there. I occasionally have a dabble Donald's back
- 48:19Speaker 1: down to pretty much eating everything good work. I'm I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,
- 48:23Speaker 1: I'm I'm closer to around. You know. But when I
- 48:29Speaker 1: but you did reduce, you did reduce. We'll give you
- 48:31Speaker 1: points for reduction. Yes, but but I but I will
- 48:34Speaker 1: have to say, and I don't think beyond meats even
- 48:36Speaker 1: a sponsor, but I will say they should be tell
- 48:38Speaker 1: your tell your friends in marketing. But I will say,
- 48:40Speaker 1: my biggest thing when my personal biggest thing when it
- 48:43Speaker 1: came up to like giving up meat, was oh, but
- 48:46Speaker 1: I love cheeseburgers. That's like my favorite thing. Yea, and yeah,
- 48:50Speaker 1: and I and I have to say, uh, you scientists
- 48:53Speaker 1: over there have figured something out. It tastes good. What's
- 48:56Speaker 1: the secret? Yeah? Not just not Yeah, how do you
- 48:59Speaker 1: turn pet into red heat meat? It's about yellow pee.
- 49:05Speaker 1: That's the protein that we're using. Oh yeah, tell us
- 49:07Speaker 1: about that. What's the secret. I mean, you have to
- 49:09Speaker 1: give us a secret. And greening you'll probably be fine.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we'll share what we can share here. But yeah,
- 49:13Speaker 1: I mean keep down. You know, what we're doing here
- 49:15Speaker 1: at the Innovation Center is where we all come from
- 49:18Speaker 1: various different scientific backgrounds. We're trying to take the knowledge
- 49:21Speaker 1: that we know from all of these different areas and
- 49:24Speaker 1: really understand what's going on with the animal meat and
- 49:27Speaker 1: what's going on with our product. So if we can
- 49:29Speaker 1: really take that science and understand, you know, how do
- 49:31Speaker 1: we put this fat, this protein, these minerals, this water,
- 49:33Speaker 1: you kind of construct it in a clean label way
- 49:36Speaker 1: so that we can kind of get a more realistic
- 49:39Speaker 1: and more representative and plant based product. That's the work
- 49:42Speaker 1: that we're working on here, and so ultimately we're using
- 49:45Speaker 1: a lot of clean label ingredients. We're trying to make
- 49:47Speaker 1: sure that we can get those things processed with the
- 49:51Speaker 1: minimal amount of processing. So that's just eat pressure, temperature, time,
- 49:56Speaker 1: and kind of controlling how we can mix all of
- 49:58Speaker 1: those things together. Really, we're using the same equipment that
- 50:01Speaker 1: you find in a you know, kitchen, but scaled up
- 50:05Speaker 1: or you know, in any type of bread or pastum
- 50:08Speaker 1: making processing factory and twisting how we kind of think
- 50:12Speaker 1: about it, so thinking a little outside of the box
- 50:14Speaker 1: how those types of processes are usually done to try
- 50:16Speaker 1: and get something that's realistic. So what is it? It's
- 50:20Speaker 1: before we go forward, so I could make I could
- 50:23Speaker 1: make beyond meat in my kitchen. I mean every I
- 50:26Speaker 1: think if you look on YouTube, there's a lot of
- 50:27Speaker 1: people who try and make what we make in their kitchen,
- 50:30Speaker 1: and you know, different levels of success. I would say,
- 50:33Speaker 1: but you know, we do have some proprietary parts that
- 50:36Speaker 1: we really crack down here that really make our texture,
- 50:40Speaker 1: our mouth feel, our juice. It would be funny if
- 50:42Speaker 1: that was me the ingredient list. There's a few proprietary
- 50:54Speaker 1: things like colmy that no, No, now I have a question.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I listen. I honestly think it tastes amazing. Um, how
- 51:05Speaker 1: does the price point come compare because obviously that's on
- 51:09Speaker 1: people's minds. They go, well, I'm not going to pay
- 51:11Speaker 1: more for it for sure, No, And that's something that
- 51:13Speaker 1: we're working on, you know, for the last couple of years.
- 51:16Speaker 1: So it is a little bit more of a premium
- 51:18Speaker 1: product right now as it stands compared to the Animal Meet.
- 51:20Speaker 1: But there's you know a lot of things that we
- 51:22Speaker 1: have to take into consideration. They're the subsidies that the
- 51:25Speaker 1: Animal Meet industry guests from, yes, the government from taxes,
- 51:30Speaker 1: our scale as we start as we increase. You know,
- 51:33Speaker 1: when I started here six years ago, we were working
- 51:36Speaker 1: on the original burger, and we were making that in
- 51:39Speaker 1: a little kitchen here in lah you know, kind of
- 51:42Speaker 1: a handmade kitchen where we were doing hundreds of burgers
- 51:45Speaker 1: a day and that kind of scale compared to where
- 51:48Speaker 1: we're at now, tens of thousands of you know, patties
- 51:51Speaker 1: per day or whatever we're making. They're everywhere, and they
- 51:54Speaker 1: also have sausages. We had Donald and I got. I
- 51:57Speaker 1: think you guys are probably responsible because someone sent us
- 52:00Speaker 1: the motherload care package we got. Yeah. Yeah, but then um,
- 52:06Speaker 1: but then Donald, there was breakfast sausage, there was there's
- 52:11Speaker 1: our Joel. There were a burger Joel. It's been a
- 52:15Speaker 1: very masculine show without you. We really really need it. Oh,
- 52:19Speaker 1: I'm so happy to bring my feminine energy to the podcast. Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 1: we need it. We need it. Well, we're learning at
- 52:24Speaker 1: these gents are telling us all about beyond me. Donald,
- 52:26Speaker 1: you had a question, go ahead. Yeah. So it's really delicious,
- 52:31Speaker 1: and there's some people like you order it from restaurants
- 52:34Speaker 1: and they've really mastered the way in cooking it, whereas
- 52:37Speaker 1: like if I cook it, it's not as juicy, you
- 52:40Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like it's a little bit, but
- 52:42Speaker 1: it's still delt like I like a burger bell done,
- 52:45Speaker 1: so I don't mind a burger that's not that you
- 52:47Speaker 1: know that juicy, But then you get it from a
- 52:49Speaker 1: restaurant and they figured out a way to make it
- 52:51Speaker 1: so it's literally like you're biting into a hamburger. What
- 52:55Speaker 1: is the what is the difference? Are you guys giving
- 52:58Speaker 1: people like a different way to cook it? Like, how
- 53:01Speaker 1: do you cook it to make it so it's just
- 53:03Speaker 1: like a hamburger? No? I think it Maybe it kind
- 53:06Speaker 1: of boils down to like like in the burger, Like,
- 53:08Speaker 1: we do have some work to get it perfectly there.
- 53:10Speaker 1: You know, you guys have seen it or tasted it.
- 53:13Speaker 1: There's still work for us to do it here, to
- 53:14Speaker 1: make it where we want it to be, like an
- 53:16Speaker 1: animal product and replicate what animal beef is. But like
- 53:20Speaker 1: when you're cooking a burger at home, if you cook
- 53:22Speaker 1: that on the griddle some way, you know, the chef
- 53:24Speaker 1: at the restaurant's gonna probably do that a little bit better,
- 53:27Speaker 1: and they always do. Yea, But I love it. He
- 53:31Speaker 1: said that in the nicest way possible. If it because
- 53:34Speaker 1: he's a professional fucking chef, right, No, actually we're both scientists. Yeah,
- 53:40Speaker 1: but yeah, no, I have other questions. All right now, listen,
- 53:43Speaker 1: Impossible Burger. They're the competitor right there, and now who
- 53:47Speaker 1: who's winning in the space? You guys are them? Come on?
- 53:50Speaker 1: Is that even questions? No? I think no, it's a
- 53:56Speaker 1: great question. Does that? I think it's I mean, I
- 53:58Speaker 1: know you guys are scientists and you're not in the
- 54:00Speaker 1: fucking sales department, but I wonder if you know who's
- 54:02Speaker 1: the scientific point of view? And really, you know, this
- 54:04Speaker 1: is our point of We're not representing anybody right now.
- 54:07Speaker 1: It's just we. We're fans of you guys, fans of
- 54:09Speaker 1: the show, and we want to be on here, but
- 54:11Speaker 1: we can talk about this stuff. Well, I'm just saying,
- 54:13Speaker 1: do you guys, as scientists take apart the Impossible Burger,
- 54:16Speaker 1: much like I'm sure the scientists had three musketeers, might
- 54:19Speaker 1: take apart the snickers and see what is in it
- 54:23Speaker 1: and what how they make their new get? Oh yeah,
- 54:26Speaker 1: I think I think everybody based industry has probably taking
- 54:30Speaker 1: apart everybody else's product for sure. But you know, I
- 54:33Speaker 1: think the Thing Impossible is doing some great stuff and
- 54:36Speaker 1: they have you know, they're pushing for the same real
- 54:39Speaker 1: change that we're trying to push for you know, sustainability,
- 54:42Speaker 1: of impacting the climate change, how animal welfare, all of
- 54:45Speaker 1: those things are at the core of what they're trying
- 54:47Speaker 1: to do this for the change. Maybe the biggest difference
- 54:51Speaker 1: we have probably in the approach of doing that is that,
- 54:55Speaker 1: yeahthically modified. We think that, you know, you can get
- 55:01Speaker 1: everything you need from the plant, and so getting extracts
- 55:04Speaker 1: from plants directly doing our you know, science to understand
- 55:07Speaker 1: how to utilize them the best way and then putting
- 55:10Speaker 1: them together into the product. We think we can get
- 55:12Speaker 1: there with that, and you know, they go with a
- 55:15Speaker 1: little bit different solution there in that term how far
- 55:19Speaker 1: are we are? How far away are we from seeing seafood?
- 55:22Speaker 1: Then yes, yes, because we need we need seafood since
- 55:26Speaker 1: you guys are killing it. We need we watch Sea
- 55:28Speaker 1: Spirit seed and got all. I'm still not eating fish.
- 55:31Speaker 1: I still haven't I watched that documentary because of you guys. Actually, well,
- 55:37Speaker 1: I'm I I have occasionally cheated with sushi. I must
- 55:41Speaker 1: say I occasionally give myself a sushi cheat. Donald, shut up,
- 55:44Speaker 1: you went totally gaging. I am like almost all the
- 55:49Speaker 1: way there. And if I go over someone's house and
- 55:51Speaker 1: they've made a beautiful dinner and the only thing they're
- 55:52Speaker 1: serving is fish. I'll eat the fish, but for the
- 55:55Speaker 1: most part of not. But anyway, that's irrelevant. Nobody give
- 55:57Speaker 1: a fuck about that. When when are you beyond gonna
- 56:00Speaker 1: make fish and chicken? We need that too. Chicken, Yeah,
- 56:03Speaker 1: because chicken is weird. I'm gonna tell you something right now.
- 56:05Speaker 1: I've yet to taste good plant based chicken. That ship
- 56:08Speaker 1: is mush. Everywhere is nothing but mush. Let the men speak.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I don't Donald's. How do you solve Donald's mush complaint? No,
- 56:18Speaker 1: it's a great, great complaint. I think. In the terms
- 56:21Speaker 1: of the chicken part, we have some I mean the
- 56:23Speaker 1: news we're not breaking it here because it's on our
- 56:25Speaker 1: website and other people. But we just released some pretended
- 56:28Speaker 1: can you guys please pretend it's exclusive chicken chickens out
- 56:36Speaker 1: Beyond Meat get it right where you want it, Chicken Tenders.
- 56:41Speaker 1: And also we partnered up with an express we just
- 56:44Speaker 1: released today, um Beyond the Orange Chicken. So it's it's
- 56:51Speaker 1: but it's all fat based alternative meats um and yeah,
- 56:55Speaker 1: it's just got released today, so it's all over our
- 56:57Speaker 1: so cal right now. Actually, there are a bunch of
- 56:59Speaker 1: locations and I want some of that right now. I
- 57:01Speaker 1: want to get most mates into our house. Now what
- 57:06Speaker 1: about Okay, we got let's just make just one last thing.
- 57:10Speaker 1: We just want to make it clear. This isn't This
- 57:12Speaker 1: isn't an ad, y'all. This isn't an ad. We're not
- 57:15Speaker 1: doing an ad. This is just actually something that about
- 57:17Speaker 1: they should become an advertiser, Joel after this, like Joel
- 57:22Speaker 1: is going to make a call because they should be good. No,
- 57:24Speaker 1: but this is in all seriousness. Donald and I, as
- 57:26Speaker 1: you know, all both trying to eat less animals, and
- 57:29Speaker 1: I really stand by beyond. I think it's great. Um, fish,
- 57:32Speaker 1: is that in the program? Is there someone behind you? Guys?
- 57:35Speaker 1: That's desk, says fish guy. They can't really talk too
- 57:39Speaker 1: much about things that haven't been announced. Oh that means yes,
- 57:42Speaker 1: we can just let you know. We got lots of
- 57:44Speaker 1: prototypes that where we're constantly working on. Here. We'll tell
- 57:47Speaker 1: your boss to watch the spiracy and get to fight.
- 57:52Speaker 1: We're very excited. Like, um, you know, as an African
- 57:56Speaker 1: American male, high cholesterol is a big thing in my family.
- 57:59Speaker 1: And when you eat red meat and when you eat
- 58:02Speaker 1: even when you eat chicken and stuff like that. It's
- 58:04Speaker 1: not necessarily the best for your cholesterol intake. And I'm
- 58:09Speaker 1: not the type of person that just wants to eat
- 58:10Speaker 1: beans for the rest of my life. So you know,
- 58:14Speaker 1: having uh you know the beyond burger or with the
- 58:18Speaker 1: or or a sausage or you know, uh, it is great.
- 58:22Speaker 1: So the more products you guys put out, the easier
- 58:26Speaker 1: it is to get off meat. Yeah, I am, I am,
- 58:30Speaker 1: I Yeah, it needs to happen faster than is my point.
- 58:34Speaker 1: They're working well, they probably be doing it faster if
- 58:36Speaker 1: they weren't fucking appearing on podcasts all the time right now.
- 58:42Speaker 1: I'm just kidding guys. Um, I have a question. I
- 58:45Speaker 1: heard in the news that some Texas Agricultural board got
- 58:50Speaker 1: angry because plant based meat is selling so well that
- 58:54Speaker 1: they want the labeling to no longer we call meat.
- 58:58Speaker 1: They don't want meat, they want meat the word meat
- 59:01Speaker 1: taken off the label. Is it because they're so fucking
- 59:04Speaker 1: livid that that plant based meat is taking off? Is
- 59:08Speaker 1: that true? Yeah? I know, we've there's been a couple
- 59:10Speaker 1: of those, I guess failings in the last couple of years.
- 59:13Speaker 1: But I think that just shows, you know, how much
- 59:15Speaker 1: of it an impact companies like Beyond Meat are having
- 59:18Speaker 1: and we hope to like you guys, say, do do
- 59:22Speaker 1: more and get out more options for the consumers so
- 59:24Speaker 1: that they can ye replace any of the animal meats
- 59:27Speaker 1: that they need with our products. And well, I think
- 59:30Speaker 1: you're doing a great job. Thank you so much. Do
- 59:39Speaker 1: you guys have questions for us? Or do you need
- 59:43Speaker 1: to fix your life? We can do any need to
- 59:44Speaker 1: fix your Yeah, yeah, I'm a little on the podcast,
- 59:48Speaker 1: so I don't know if all right, Well, don't worry
- 59:50Speaker 1: about a question, then we'll just fix your life. It's
- 59:52Speaker 1: time for Beyond Meat's favorite segment, Donald, It's time too
- 59:56Speaker 1: fix your all right. So I think we kind of
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: already touched on it already. Someone just stretched behind you. Yes,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: here it Beyond Meat. We're trying to, you know, come
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: up with new products and innovates, just continuously and constantly,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: so you know, based on the things that you've had.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Is there any feedback that we could solicit from you guys?
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Are the things you want us to improve on or
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: are there any products you might be interested in looking at?
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I guess we've already touched on I didn't see like,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: oh I have you guys have like an old, like
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: traditional like Nathan's hot dog. I saw lots of sausages.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: I'd like just a real old fashioned barbecue hot dog.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: You got that? That would be great. Yeah. For now
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: we just have those sausages. But yeah, well there's my
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: frigging complaint. Boys, we gotta get regular hot dog. Sometimes
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: you don't want to like a flavored killed bassa unless
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: you donald no lack of think about is kear bass
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: a saucy? Your butt cheeks is warm? What? Oh it's
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: a tenacious D song? I'm so confused. Yeah, no, I
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: was just wondering. I mean, you guys are both great singers,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: and you guys are always saying on here. Part of what,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you know, what we were doing, I think during COVID
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: times is listening to this podcast to kind of like
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: laughing unwind. But a big part of what we also
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: did around here to kind of unwind is go karaoke
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: and and do all that kind of stuff. Yes, I'm wondering,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: what what what are you guys karaoke? Go tos or
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: is there anything that poss up for question? I got
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I got a couple of them now it used to
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: only be one. It used to be poisoned. I used
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: to go and do so we thank you very much,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: but so I would always do that at karaoke. But
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I got a couple of new ones, Dan and Shay.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I don't know if you've ever heard of them, speechless
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: standing that just standing in that band whatever the song,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: watching you is all that I can do. I'm speechless.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: You already know that you're my weakness. After all this time,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I'm just as nervous. Watching you is all that I
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: can do. Anyway, that's a great karaoke one. And then
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I heard one person single karaoke song and you don't
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: hear it often, but faith, it's just faith, and I
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: can't believe it's real. Yes, I can't believe it's true. Ahead, girl,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I can't believe it's happening. I can't believe with you
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: something like that. And I can't believe that you are
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: here with me and I am here with you, softly
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: kissing you all right wherever kids see. I don't think
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: they said perform all of your favorite Daniel, Joel, do
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: you have your go to karaoke songs that you like? Okay?
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Any winehouse is m Valerie, which is the atypical Los
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Angeles girl anthem. If you go to karaoke out here,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you'll hear it four times a night. But it hits.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: It's in everybody's vocal range, and I love that. Um.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I could karaokee any Beyonce's song. Obviously not as good
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: as Beyonce, but I know all the lyrics and I'm
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: ready to go on. Well, you know the one, super Confidence,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: you know, the one that everybody does. Oh oh oh no,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: No that's terrible. No, it's a crazy not great to
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: karaoke my baby, Okay, Yeah, it's hard to sing though. Yeah,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Joel's got the Rangeoel wasn't incredible, But all you gotta
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: do is going young hope. Y'all know how the flow
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: is local. Oh, I got three, I got three, I
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: got three. One is the Sound by Carl Ray Jepson.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Um You Ought to Know by Atlantis Morrissett, and then
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars. Those are
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: my three. I don't really do karaoke, but I think
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I would probably do everywhere by Michelle Branch. Complicated Abril Levine, Great,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: you know you know what you shouldn't do? By our
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Abril Levine take me about a hand, Take me somewhere New.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, yeah, do you remember do you
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: remember us singing that ship Forever? That song? We used
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: to sing that song so comfort in our sexuality that
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: we'd be running around our apartment singing Abril Levine in
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: our boxers. We sang that song on set too, and
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: we changed the lyrics too. Do you remember changing the lyrics?
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: I'm with you, No, take me bout a hand, to
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: me somewhere New. I don't know who you are, but uh,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna shoot you. Oh my god, I'm sorry. I
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: can't play this at the Beyond party yet it can um. Yeah, well,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I would sing the original Avril levison en version without
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Donald's orgasm. I'm gonna Zach Zach Zach. I love you boy.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: All right, I think we've ran this into the ground.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: It's always nice. It's always nice to end the show
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: with one of Donald's fake orgasms. Okay, thank you, thank
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: you for beyond me. It just sounds like it doesn't
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: even sound like an orgasm anymore. It just sounds like
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: some he just yelling in pain. Okay. It's one thing
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: if they were the impossible guys, but this is all right, guys, well,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: thank you for coming on. We really appreciate it. And
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: uh and I mean we did it. You want to
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: just end the show with yes, you can stay on
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: to the end of the show. This is the end
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: of the show. We love you all I ever put
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: shout outs. And my fiance Liz, she wanted to thank
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: all you guys because we both grew up with scrubs
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: and that's sort of why she's in the healthcare industry
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: right now. I'm here right now, but she wanted to
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: say thank you very much, thank you, and yeah, we
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: just got engaged last week. Congratulation. Yeah we have. We've
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: been together for like thirteen years high school sweethearts and
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: took you a long time high finally you finally decided
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: to do it. Huh, well yeah sweethearts. You know, ye know,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: that's great. They've been together for thirteen years, he said, bro,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: I know, but I mean, how hold are you? How
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: hold you? Twenty seven? Twenty seven? There were high school sweethearts.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: There's no, that's not you guys are like junior high
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: school sweethearts. Yeah yeah, wow, it's adorable and last and
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: you live in California too, Wow, and you got good jobs.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: It's almost time to buy a half acre. I brought
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: it all back to the show, Donald, That's why they
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: came in the big bucks back. All right, guys, thank
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: you so much for tuning in, and we love you,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: We appreciate you. Be kind if you're open to it.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Try not eating animals. Uh. These fellows are doing all
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: they can to make fake burgers taste like real animals.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: So check out Beyond Meat again. Not a sponsor, Donald,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: and I just support the cause. And uh, that's a
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: shout out to Joel for getting these guys on here
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: today too. So much go work, good work. Well, so

- 1:08:11Speaker 1: a little concerned about John c McGinley live. He's not
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: He needs to be censored sometimes, yeah he can. He
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: sometimes leaves the PC card at home. Daniel, Daniel, I
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: may need you to just go beep oh when if
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: he says anything crazy, I hope there's a delay. I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: truly hope there's a delay. We don't have a delay, Joe,
