Hillary Clinton And The Transcript From Her Epstein Related Talk With Congress (Part 1) (9/13/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:02
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to dive into
• 0:06
Speaker 1: the Hillary Clinton transcript from her conversation with Congress about
• 0:11
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. And like usual, we're going to start with
• 0:15
Speaker 1: Hillary Clinton's opening statement. And this comes after she was
• 0:18
Speaker 1: sworn in. Mr. Chairman, Ranking Member, Members of the Committee,
• 0:23
Speaker 1: as a former United States Senator, I have respect for
• 0:25
Speaker 1: the legislative oversight and I expect its exercise in as
• 0:30
Speaker 1: do American people, to be principled and fearless in pursuit
• 0:33
Speaker 1: of truth and accountability. As we all know, however, too
• 0:37
Speaker 1: often congressional investigations are partisan political theater, which is an
• 0:42
Speaker 1: abdication of duty and an insult to the American people.
• 0:45
Speaker 1: This committee justified its subpoena to me based on an
• 0:48
Speaker 1: assumption that I have information regarding the investigations into the
• 0:52
Speaker 1: criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and Glenn Maxwell. Let me
• 0:56
Speaker 1: be as clear as I can, I do not. As
• 0:59
Speaker 1: I stated in my sworn declaration on January 13th, I
• 1:03
Speaker 1: had no idea about their criminal activities. I do not
• 1:05
Speaker 1: recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his
• 1:08
Speaker 1: plane or visited his island or offices. I have nothing
• 1:12
Speaker 1: to add to that. Like every decent person, I've been
• 1:15
Speaker 1: horrified by what I've learned about their crimes. It's unfathomable
• 1:19
Speaker 1: that Mr. Epstein initially got a slap on the wrist
• 1:22
Speaker 1: in 2008, which allowed him to continue his predatory practices
• 1:26
Speaker 1: for another decade. Mr. Chairman, your investigation is supposed to
• 1:31
Speaker 1: be assessing the federal government's handling of the investigation and
• 1:34
Speaker 1: prosecution of Epstein and his crimes. You subpoenaed eight law
• 1:38
Speaker 1: enforcement officials, all of whom ran the Department of Justice
• 1:41
Speaker 1: or directed the FBI when Epstein's crimes were investigated and prosecuted.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: Of those eight, only one appeared before the committee. Five
• 1:50
Speaker 1: of the six former Attorney General were allowed to submit
• 1:52
Speaker 1: brief statements stating they had no information to provide. You
• 1:56
Speaker 1: held zero public hearings, refused to allow the media to
• 1:59
Speaker 1: attend them, including today, despite espousing the need for transparency
• 2:03
Speaker 1: on dozens of occasions. You've made little effort to call
• 2:06
Speaker 1: the people who show up most prominently in the Epstein files.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: And when you did, not a single Republican member showed
• 2:13
Speaker 1: up for Les Wexner's deposition. This institutional failure is designed
• 2:18
Speaker 1: to protect one political party and one public official, rather
• 2:22
Speaker 1: than to seek the truth for the victims and survivors,
• 2:25
Speaker 1: as well as inform the public who want to get
• 2:27
Speaker 1: to the bottom of this matter. My heart breaks for
• 2:30
Speaker 1: the survivors, and I'm furious on their behalf. I've spent
• 2:33
Speaker 1: my life advocating for women and girls. I've worked hard
• 2:37
Speaker 1: to stop the terrible abuses so many women and girls
• 2:40
Speaker 1: face here and around the world, including human trafficking, forced labor,
• 2:44
Speaker 1: domestic violence, and sexual slavery. For too long, these have
• 2:49
Speaker 1: been largely invisible crimes or not treated as crimes at all.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: But the survivors are real, and they're entitled to justice.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: In Southeast Asia, I met girls as young as 12
• 2:59
Speaker 1: years old who had been forced into prostitution and raped repeatedly.
• 3:04
Speaker 1: Some were dying of AIDS. In Eastern Europe, I met
• 3:07
Speaker 1: mothers who told me how they lost their daughters to
• 3:09
Speaker 1: trafficking and did not know where to turn. In settings
• 3:13
Speaker 1: around the world, I met survivors trying to rebuild their
• 3:16
Speaker 1: lives and help rescue others with little support from people
• 3:19
Speaker 1: in power who too often turned a blind eye and
• 3:22
Speaker 1: a cold shoulder. If you are new to this issue,
• 3:25
Speaker 1: let me tell you, Jeffrey Epstein was a heinous individual,
• 3:29
Speaker 1: but he's far from alone. This is not a one-off
• 3:32
Speaker 1: tabloid sensation or political scandal. It's a global scourge with
• 3:36
Speaker 1: an unimaginable human toll. My work combating sex trafficking goes
• 3:41
Speaker 1: back to my day as his first lady. I worked
• 3:43
Speaker 1: to pass the first federal legislation against trafficking and was
• 3:47
Speaker 1: proud that my husband signed the Trafficking Victims Protection Act,
• 3:51
Speaker 1: which increased support for survivors and and gave prosecutors better
• 3:54
Speaker 1: tools for going after traffickers. As Secretary of State, I
• 3:58
Speaker 1: appointed a former federal prosecutor, Luis de Baca, to ramp
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: up our global anti-trafficking efforts. I oversaw nearly 170 anti-trafficking
• 4:08
Speaker 1: programs in 70 nations and directly pressed foreign leaders to
• 4:12
Speaker 1: crack down on trafficking networks in their countries. Every year,
• 4:16
Speaker 1: we publish a global report to shine a light on abuses.
• 4:20
Speaker 1: The findings of those reports triggered sanctions on countries failing
• 4:23
Speaker 1: to make progress, so they became a powerful diplomatic tool
• 4:27
Speaker 1: to drive concrete action. I insisted that the United States
• 4:31
Speaker 1: be included in the report for the first time ever
• 4:33
Speaker 1: in 2011, because we must hold ourselves not just to
• 4:37
Speaker 1: the same standard as the rest of the world, but
• 4:39
Speaker 1: to an even higher one. Sex trafficking and modern slavery
• 4:43
Speaker 1: should have no place in America, none. Infuriatingly, the Trump
• 4:47
Speaker 1: administration gutted the trafficking in Persons' Office and at the
• 4:50
Speaker 1: State Department, cutting more than 70% of the careers civil
• 4:54
Speaker 1: and foreign service experts who work so hard to prevent
• 4:57
Speaker 1: sex trafficking crimes. The annual trafficking report required by law
• 5:01
Speaker 1: was delayed for months. The message from the Trump administration
• 5:05
Speaker 1: to the American people and the world cannot have been clearer.
• 5:09
Speaker 1: Combating human trafficking is no longer an American priority under
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: the Trump White House. That's a tragedy. It's a scandal,
• 5:16
Speaker 1: and it deserves vigorous investigation and oversight. A committee endeavoring
• 5:22
Speaker 1: to stopping human trafficking would seek to understand what specific
• 5:25
Speaker 1: steps are needed to fix a legal system that allowed
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Epstein to get away with his crimes. A committee run
• 5:31
Speaker 1: by elected officials with a commitment to transparency would ensure
• 5:34
Speaker 1: a full release of all the files. It would ensure
• 5:38
Speaker 1: that all lawful redactions of those files protected the victims
• 5:41
Speaker 1: and survivors, not powerful men and political allies. It would
• 5:46
Speaker 1: get to the bottom of reports that DOJ withheld FBI
• 5:49
Speaker 1: interviews in which a survivor accuses President Trump of crimes.
• 5:53
Speaker 1: It would subpoena anyone who asked on which night there
• 5:57
Speaker 1: would be the wildest party on Epstein's island. It would
• 6:01
Speaker 1: demand testimony from prosecutors in Florida, New York, and the
• 6:04
Speaker 1: Department of Justice about why they gave Epstein a sweetheart
• 6:07
Speaker 1: deal and chose not to pursue others who may have
• 6:10
Speaker 1: been implicated in his crimes. And it would demand that
• 6:13
Speaker 1: Secretary Rubio and Attorney General Bondi testify about why this
• 6:17
Speaker 1: administration is abandoning survivors and playing into the hands of traffickers.
• 6:22
Speaker 1: It would seek out advocates and law enforcement officials on
• 6:24
Speaker 1: the front lines of the fight against human trafficking and
• 6:28
Speaker 1: ask them what support they need. And it would put
• 6:30
Speaker 1: forth legislation to provide more resources and force this administration
• 6:35
Speaker 1: to act. But that's not happening. Instead, you have compelled
• 6:39
Speaker 1: me to testify fully aware that I have no knowledge
• 6:42
Speaker 1: that would assist your investigation in order to distract from
• 6:45
Speaker 1: President Trump's actions and cover them up despite legitimate calls
• 6:48
Speaker 1: for answers. If this committee is serious about learning the
• 6:51
Speaker 1: truth about Epstein's trafficking crimes, it would not rely on
• 6:55
Speaker 1: press gaggles to get answers from our current president on
• 6:58
Speaker 1: his involvement. It would ask him directly, under oath, about
• 7:02
Speaker 1: the tens of thousands of times he shows up in
• 7:04
Speaker 1: the Epstein files. If the majority was serious... It would
• 7:08
Speaker 1: not waste time on fishing expeditions. There's too much to
• 7:11
Speaker 1: be done. What's being held back? Who's being protected? And why?
• 7:16
Speaker 1: The cover-up. So my challenge to you, Mr. Chairman, and
• 7:20
Speaker 1: members of this committee, is the same challenge I put
• 7:22
Speaker 1: to myself throughout my long service to this nation. How
• 7:26
Speaker 1: to be worthy of the trust of the American people
• 7:28
Speaker 1: that they've given you. They expect statesmanship, not gamesmanship. Leading,
• 7:34
Speaker 1: not grandstanding. And they expect you to use your power
• 7:37
Speaker 1: to get to the truth, and to do more to
• 7:39
Speaker 1: help survivors of Epstein's crimes, as well as the millions
• 7:42
Speaker 1: more who are victims of sex trafficking in this country
• 7:45
Speaker 1: and around the world. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. And I
• 7:49
Speaker 1: would like to request that the video of this deposition
• 7:52
Speaker 1: be made available within 24 hours, as it has been
• 7:56
Speaker 1: for other witnesses. Billy Grant, I guess, is doing the
• 8:00
Speaker 1: questioning here. Thank you, Madam Secretary. The time reads 1134.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: The majority's time will begin now. Madam Secretary, in the
• 8:08
Speaker 1: interest of efficiency here today, I'm going to ask you
• 8:11
Speaker 1: one question followed by a list of names. The question
• 8:14
Speaker 1: can be answered yes or no. If you do indicate
• 8:17
Speaker 1: yes to an individual, I'll come back and revisit that
• 8:20
Speaker 1: at the end. The question is, have you ever communicated
• 8:24
Speaker 1: with any of the following people relating to Jeffrey Epstein
• 8:27
Speaker 1: or Ghislaine Maxwell? Richard Kahn, answer no. Darren Indyke, no.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: Sarah Kellen, no. Doug Band? Not that I recall. Larry Summers? No.
• 8:37
Speaker 1: Huma Abedin? Have I ever talked to her about this?
• 8:40
Speaker 1: In preparation for the hearing I have. Question outside of that?
• 8:45
Speaker 1: Answer not that I recall. Noam Chomsky? No. Leslie Groff? No.
• 8:49
Speaker 1: Nadia Marcinkova? No. Jean-Luc Brunel? No, I don't know most
• 8:54
Speaker 1: of these people. Should I tell you that I know
• 8:56
Speaker 1: who they are, or just tell you I never talked
• 8:58
Speaker 1: to them? Question, just so you never talk to them
• 9:02
Speaker 1: is fine. Alan Dershowitz, answer no. Kathy Rumler, answer no.
• 9:07
Speaker 1: Bill Richardson, answer no. George Mitchell, answer no. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,
• 9:12
Speaker 1: formerly Prince Andrew, answer no. Peter Mandelson, answer no. Reid Hoffman,
• 9:17
Speaker 1: answer no. Karinia Shulak, answer no. Bill Gates, answer no.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: Ehud Barak, answer no. Woody Allen, no. Sandy Berger, no.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: Jess Daly, no. Paul Morris, no. Leon Black, no. Sultan
• 9:32
Speaker 1: Ahmed bin Sulaym, answer no. Leslie Wexner, no. Jack Kessler, no.
• 9:38
Speaker 1: Mark Middleton, no. Harvey Weinstein, no. Ellie Dorothchild, no. Ariane Dorothchild, no.
• 9:46
Speaker 1: Lynn Forrester Dorothchild, no. Many other members of the Dorothchild family,
• 9:51
Speaker 1: answer no. Glenn Dubin, no. Eva Anderson Dubin, no. Casey Wasserman, no.
• 9:58
Speaker 1: Larry Vysotsky? No. David Rogers? No. Ira Magaziner? No. Daniel Gilbert? No.
• 10:06
Speaker 1: Karen Ewing? No. Stacey Plaskett? Not that I recall. Howard Lutnick?
• 10:12
Speaker 1: Not that I recall. Steve Bannon? Answer, I don't know
• 10:16
Speaker 1: if I ever met him. You'll have to introduce me. Question,
• 10:20
Speaker 1: I'll take that as a no. Answer, just to be
• 10:22
Speaker 1: absolutely clear, you've asked if I've ever communicated about Epstein,
• 10:26
Speaker 1: a man I've never met, with any of these people,
• 10:28
Speaker 1: most of whom I've never heard of and certainly not met.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: That's the premise of your question? Oh, please, she never
• 10:35
Speaker 1: met any of these people, huh? Right, and I'm fucking
• 10:37
Speaker 1: Santa Claus. Question, Mr. Epstein or Ms. Maxwell? Clinton, you
• 10:42
Speaker 1: did not say that. Question, I did say that in
• 10:45
Speaker 1: the beginning. I'll repeat the question. Clinton, no, that's okay.
• 10:48
Speaker 1: but I didn't talk about her with any of these
• 10:50
Speaker 1: people either. Question understood. Answer, I barely knew her. Question,
• 10:55
Speaker 1: David Gergen. Answer, no. Elon Musk. Answer, no. Abigail Johnson. Answer, no.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: Jeff Bezos. Answer, no. Larry Page. Answer, no. Sergey Brin. Answer, no.
• 11:06
Speaker 1: Louis Free. Answer, no. Question, a new member arrived. Would
• 11:12
Speaker 1: they please introduce themselves for the record? Wesley Bell, Representative,
• 11:16
Speaker 1: Missouri First Integration District. Catherine Turner jumps in now. Can
• 11:21
Speaker 1: you read back the initial premise of your question? Because
• 11:24
Speaker 1: I too did not hear. Question. Yes, ma'am. Have you
• 11:28
Speaker 1: ever communicated with any of the following people relating to
• 11:31
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell? Clinton, I didn't hear the
• 11:34
Speaker 1: Maxwell piece, but we could ask the court reporter. It
• 11:37
Speaker 1: doesn't matter. It's the same answer. But I did not
• 11:40
Speaker 1: hear the Maxwell name in there. Billy Grant understood. Question.
• 11:43
Speaker 1: So was the last name you said Larry Page? Comer
• 11:47
Speaker 1: jumps in. Sergi Bryn. Billy Grant, the last name I
• 11:51
Speaker 1: stated was Louis Free. You indicated no. Is that a correct?
• 11:55
Speaker 1: Hillary Clinton, I think you mean Free? Question, Free, yes ma'am.
• 12:00
Speaker 1: Catherine Turner, Louis Free. Clinton, no. Question, and Sarah Kay? Clinton, no.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: And these are all to the best of my recollection.
• 12:10
Speaker 1: As I say, many of the people I've never heard of.
• 12:13
Speaker 1: Most of these people I've never had a relationship with. Although,
• 12:16
Speaker 1: I know their name. Some of them are deceased. But
• 12:19
Speaker 1: I was not communicating about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,
• 12:23
Speaker 1: as I understand that's what you're asking me. Contacting people
• 12:25
Speaker 1: about them, that did not happen. Question, is there anyone
• 12:29
Speaker 1: you had a conversation with about Ghislaine Maxwell? Answer, oh,
• 12:32
Speaker 1: I'm sure I've talked about Ghislaine Maxwell, and especially in
• 12:35
Speaker 1: preparation for the hearing. Question, and outside of the conversation
• 12:39
Speaker 1: with counsel, what did you talk about with Ms. Maxwell? Answer,
• 12:42
Speaker 1: I don't recall any conversation about Ms. Maxwell, but I
• 12:46
Speaker 1: knew her casually. So I can't tell you that I
• 12:48
Speaker 1: never had a conversation that mentioned Glenn Maxwell's name because
• 12:51
Speaker 1: I don't recall that. Question understood. And you say that
• 12:55
Speaker 1: you knew Ms. Maxwell casually. What does that mean? Answer,
• 12:59
Speaker 1: just as I said, I knew her primarily as someone
• 13:01
Speaker 1: who dated someone that I knew. Question, and who was
• 13:04
Speaker 1: that individual? Answer, Ted Waite. Question, and who was Ted Waite? Answer,
• 13:09
Speaker 1: Ted Waite was as successful as I recall a software developer. Question,
• 13:14
Speaker 1: and roughly... When was the first time Ms. Maxwell would
• 13:17
Speaker 1: have come up in a relation to Mr. Waite? Answer,
• 13:20
Speaker 1: I don't recall, but perhaps sometime around 2010 because he
• 13:24
Speaker 1: was invited to my daughter's wedding and she was a guest. Question,
• 13:28
Speaker 1: have you ever spoken with Ms. Maxwell personally yourself? Answer,
• 13:31
Speaker 1: I'm sure I have, yes. Question, could you estimate on
• 13:35
Speaker 1: how many occasions? Answer, not many. I didn't see her
• 13:37
Speaker 1: very often. Question, when would the first occasion have been? Answer,
• 13:42
Speaker 1: I have no recollection. Question, did your first interaction... Would Ms.
• 13:46
Speaker 1: Maxwell occur while President Clinton was President of the U.S.
• 13:49
Speaker 1: and you were First Lady of the United States? Answer, no.
• 13:53
Speaker 1: I don't recall ever meeting her while Bill was still
• 13:55
Speaker 1: in the White House. All right, folks, we're going to
• 13:58
Speaker 1: wrap up right here. And in the next episode dealing
• 14:00
Speaker 1: with the topic, we're going to pick up where we
• 14:02
Speaker 1: left off. All the information that goes with this episode
• 14:05
Speaker 1: can be found in the description box.
