- 0:00Speaker 1: Donald. They are making a Lando series for Disney Plus,
- 0:05Speaker 1: and uh, Donald Lover's coming back and I just don't
- 0:09Speaker 1: see how anyone could avoid you being on this show.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Wait Donald's when did How did I miss this morning?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Oh see, Joel, I had it right. Yeah, this is
- 0:21Speaker 1: brand new news. Uh. They think they just dropped a trailer.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I haven't watched the chair trailer. Yeah, I think Yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 1: somebody was saying that there's some images on Disney Plus.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So I'm not sure if they cut a trailer from
- 0:33Speaker 1: nobody call me listen. Wait, Joel, it's already been filmed. No,
- 0:38Speaker 1: it hasn't been filmed. No, no, no, I think it's
- 0:40Speaker 1: footage from Solo that's been caught up like that, Like yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but he's in there doing his Landau thing and they're
- 0:46Speaker 1: like coming soon and Lando CALRISI and listen. I was
- 0:49Speaker 1: gonna say, Solo is a good movie. Y'all can hate
- 0:51Speaker 1: if you want to and act like so I didn't
- 0:53Speaker 1: make it through. Let me just listen. Let me just
- 0:57Speaker 1: tell you something right now. It was nothing wrong with Solo.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It was a fun Star Wars movie. If it had
- 1:05Speaker 1: come out before the Last Jedi when everybody was kind
- 1:08Speaker 1: of over Star Wars for that little bit of time.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I promise you it would have been well received. The
- 1:15Speaker 1: problem was it was Rogue One, the Last Jedi, and
- 1:19Speaker 1: then Solo, all within a year and a half, and
- 1:23Speaker 1: Nat freaking made it so everyone was like, I'm not
- 1:26Speaker 1: up there. It's too much Star Wars. For me. It's
- 1:29Speaker 1: too much Star Wars. But listen, listen. If that would
- 1:32Speaker 1: have if that were the Force Awakens, let's say, how
- 1:35Speaker 1: about this now, I'm not gonna go down to wormhole.
- 1:39Speaker 1: What if that was one of them, if that was
- 1:41Speaker 1: one of the first television shows. Let's say that was
- 1:44Speaker 1: what the Mandalorian was, if Solo was what the Mandalorian was.
- 1:48Speaker 1: When it came on, everybody and it and and and
- 1:50Speaker 1: they were like, look, we're not gonna make it a movie.
- 1:52Speaker 1: We're just gonna make it a television show. We're gonna
- 1:54Speaker 1: do nine episodes of Solo. And the first episode was
- 1:58Speaker 1: the movie that we saw. Everybody would be losing their
- 2:01Speaker 1: mind on how great Solo was, So don't give me
- 2:03Speaker 1: a bullshit. It was just too much Star Wars. Okay
- 2:07Speaker 1: for our own podcast, Yeah, exactly. And I also think
- 2:10Speaker 1: anytime a directors are replaced with a new director, and
- 2:13Speaker 1: that director comes in and has to sort of start
- 2:16Speaker 1: from whatever point he's starting. I mean, it's kind of
- 2:19Speaker 1: a recipe for a disaster. It's two different movies. There's
- 2:23Speaker 1: the there's the Christ and Film movie, and then there's
- 2:26Speaker 1: the Ron Horward movie. I would have really liked to
- 2:28Speaker 1: have seen the Christ and Film movie, because they're they're
- 2:31Speaker 1: funny dudes. But but I guess my my assumption was
- 2:34Speaker 1: always that they must have gone off too far in
- 2:37Speaker 1: there in their own direction. And Kathleen Kennedy, the woman
- 2:41Speaker 1: who you can't recognize from her identical twin, probably thought like, Hey,
- 2:45Speaker 1: that's not the tone of this. What are you guys doing.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know what I made that up.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I made that up in my head, Joel. But doesn't
- 2:52Speaker 1: sound like it's realistic. I'm very curious to know the
- 2:55Speaker 1: real story of what all went down. I've heard a lot,
- 2:58Speaker 1: a lot of rumors, but there's there's nothing conferred. Everyone's
- 3:03Speaker 1: being very tight lipped as of now. I think it's
- 3:05Speaker 1: a story we'll hear more about in five or ten years. Well,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I think yeah, one day. Yes. Everybody's so excited for
- 3:11Speaker 1: the Snyder DC cut and everything like that, is it
- 3:14Speaker 1: really going to be better than the Justice League movie? Though?
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't know, but all I can tell you is this,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I'm just asking out there. Joel nodded her head like
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't know. Dan nodded his head like I don't know.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But everybody bought whatever the HBO Max. Is that what
- 3:28Speaker 1: it is? Yeah? Yeah, you have to buy HBO Max?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Or is it if you have you have Hbo do
- 3:33Speaker 1: you just get HBO Max? No? You actually answer this question. No,
- 3:37Speaker 1: if you have a subscription, you do not need to
- 3:39Speaker 1: buy it. You can use your can log in like
- 3:41Speaker 1: your you're yeah, like if I have it through if
- 3:43Speaker 1: I have it through my cable or whatever, I have it, Okay.
- 3:46Speaker 1: But if you don't have it and you're like, I'd
- 3:47Speaker 1: rather just pay like ten dollars and have the HBO
- 3:49Speaker 1: streaming experience, you can do that as well, and it's
- 3:52Speaker 1: totally worth it. There's so much content. And when does
- 3:55Speaker 1: the Snyder cut drop? That is a Google question. Let
- 3:59Speaker 1: me find out sting And how are you a day show?
- 4:02Speaker 1: Are you? Well? I'm you know, doing it the best
- 4:05Speaker 1: I can. California just reached reached number one in the
- 4:09Speaker 1: US with Yeah. Congrats everybody, congrats we did We did
- 4:12Speaker 1: a thunderous applause Dan, No, how about instead of thunderous applause, Dan,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you just do thunderous booing. Yeah, jeers, Dan, jeers. We
- 4:24Speaker 1: did work, good work, did it? Good work? La could work, California.
- 4:28Speaker 1: We are the worst, dude. We're gonna be making movies
- 4:32Speaker 1: and Stad nobody's gonna make anything here. Well, you know
- 4:37Speaker 1: it's okay, though, it's okay. We had it coming. We
- 4:39Speaker 1: were so freakingy. This is Canada's chance, you know, how
- 4:43Speaker 1: like if we're in pole position for production and Canada's like,
- 4:47Speaker 1: oh shit, and now you can hold in the cars
- 4:49Speaker 1: and they take it on the turn and then they
- 4:50Speaker 1: make a move on turns. Yeah, this is Canada's chance
- 4:54Speaker 1: to come in. Just steal all the US production. Good luck.
- 4:57Speaker 1: They can do it right now. You can do it
- 4:59Speaker 1: right now, Canada, right now, Canada. You need to make
- 5:02Speaker 1: the incentives even bigger and bam, it's over. Just don't
- 5:07Speaker 1: tax us, just don't tax us. Everyone will come. Do
- 5:11Speaker 1: you know that the film industry started in my in
- 5:13Speaker 1: my hometown, well, my home neighborhood of what well Edison's
- 5:19Speaker 1: Black Mariah, where he was making the very first films
- 5:24Speaker 1: was in West Orange, New Jersey. That's where his laboratory
- 5:27Speaker 1: and where he did all his work was. You can
- 5:29Speaker 1: actually go there. It's a museum. And the Black Mariah
- 5:32Speaker 1: was his first sound stage. I don't know if you
- 5:34Speaker 1: guys know this trivia and the Black Mariah was a
- 5:37Speaker 1: rectangle or square that sat on a giant circular track
- 5:43Speaker 1: and so it could spin. It had a sunroof and
- 5:45Speaker 1: it would spin to find the light because Edison needed
- 5:48Speaker 1: so much light to make these films that the roof
- 5:51Speaker 1: would open and the whole thing would rotate three hundred
- 5:54Speaker 1: and sixty degrees to find the sun. And so the
- 5:57Speaker 1: movie industry begins and it's like, holy shit, this is
- 6:00Speaker 1: the thing. And then someone goes, why are we doing
- 6:02Speaker 1: this in New Jersey? Why don't we do this where
- 6:06Speaker 1: the sun is always out and it's always seventy five
- 6:08Speaker 1: degrees and it's always sunny, and we don't have to
- 6:11Speaker 1: We can do whatever the how we want. And that's
- 6:13Speaker 1: how this song. All the leaders, all the leaves are brown,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and this guy is great, and this guy is great.
- 6:23Speaker 1: California Candyfunia Tree on a Way Tuesday. Hey, Well that
- 6:30Speaker 1: was that was a beautiful ndition that was written a
- 6:32Speaker 1: few years later in the sixties. Okay, but that's about
- 6:38Speaker 1: living in Laurel Canyon. And I think right being, there's
- 6:41Speaker 1: a great documentary on the Laurel Canyon music scene. I
- 6:45Speaker 1: highly It's called Laurel Canyon, I believe, and it's on
- 6:49Speaker 1: epics UM and there's a two parter and it's about
- 6:54Speaker 1: the music scene in the sixties and the seventies and
- 6:57Speaker 1: Laurel Canyon, and it's just fucking great if you love
- 7:00Speaker 1: music and music documentaries. I do love music and I do.
- 7:03Speaker 1: How are you man? It's I'm good. Heather Lockleer's here today.
- 7:06Speaker 1: That's a thing that's amazing. First, is she here, Dan, Joel?
- 7:09Speaker 1: Is she in the waiting room? Probably we should probably
- 7:12Speaker 1: get into this shing. Nobody leaves Heather in the corner.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Heather in the corner. I'm nervous. Can I be honest
- 7:18Speaker 1: with you that I'm nervous too. I'm gonna be honest
- 7:21Speaker 1: with you. Yes, I knew that we had a guest,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and I knew that it was someone of importance. Yes,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I did not. I'm afraid I did not know the
- 7:32Speaker 1: magnitude of the guests this week. I how did you
- 7:34Speaker 1: not know that it was Heather Locklear. She's the only
- 7:36Speaker 1: star in the episode that would that we would ask,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I mean, who did you think it might be besides
- 7:41Speaker 1: Heather Locklear? I thought it was Shay because this is
- 7:44Speaker 1: such an important episode. Also, no Shay were specifically requested
- 7:48Speaker 1: his story, which I believe is the episode Johnny C voiceovers, Okay,
- 7:53Speaker 1: so I think that's one of Shay's favorites. So we said, Shay,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you pick because this is such an important story in
- 8:00Speaker 1: the whole you know, scrubs thing. This episode is so important.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I never imagine in my whole life that I would
- 8:07Speaker 1: ever be in in a position to keep Heather Locklear winning.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Let's not doing anymore sending stop it. Seven stories about
- 8:17Speaker 1: Shore we made about a bunch of dots and nurses,
- 8:22Speaker 1: and Jan said, he's the stories. So gather around you.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Here are yeado around you? Here a Heather? Can you
- 8:40Speaker 1: get us? Here we go. I got so excited. My
- 8:49Speaker 1: dogs are all barking. Now, hey, shut up, I'm talking
- 8:52Speaker 1: to Heather lock Clear. How are you guys? Hi, Heather?
- 8:57Speaker 1: We are so excited you're doing this. We're very deep
- 9:00Speaker 1: saying Donald, you look like you're in a closet with clothes.
- 9:06Speaker 1: What's going on? Where are he is at in a
- 9:10Speaker 1: closet with clothes that you nailed it? This is my closet.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I share it with my wife. I was hoping because
- 9:17Speaker 1: there's some nice thing. Yeah, put something up, something else up,
- 9:22Speaker 1: because it was just my golf shirts and stuff. She
- 9:23Speaker 1: would like, that's ugly to look at. Let me put
- 9:26Speaker 1: Let me put Oh, you didn't tell me that those
- 9:27Speaker 1: dresses were up as background designed by Casey. I thought
- 9:30Speaker 1: that they were outfit she might be wearing soon. Now
- 9:32Speaker 1: you're telling me that the Donald might be or Donald
- 9:34Speaker 1: might be wearing. But you're now you're saying that Casey
- 9:36Speaker 1: didn't like the look of the closet on the and
- 9:38Speaker 1: decorated a little bit. Yeah, she put up. She put
- 9:40Speaker 1: up something so that the backdrop was a little different.
- 9:43Speaker 1: The camera is so Zach, you're all happening there that, Yes, Heather,
- 9:48Speaker 1: I I well, Donald has you. Donald has two young children,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and so he kind of has to hide out in
- 9:54Speaker 1: his walking closet to do this here. I put my
- 9:58Speaker 1: dog out with my boyfriend because he would bark and
- 10:00Speaker 1: be all over and and my daughter just left Donald,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I have to say, she just wanted to say that
- 10:05Speaker 1: she has a crush on you. I don't think she Yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I don't think she ever saw it Scrubs, but she
- 10:11Speaker 1: I don't think she was alive, but I think she
- 10:13Speaker 1: saw Uptown Girls together and right were We've been talking
- 10:19Speaker 1: about this now we have so much to ask you.
- 10:21Speaker 1: But wait, since you brought it up, let's start with
- 10:22Speaker 1: Uptown Girls. Donald's told us a lot of fun memories
- 10:25Speaker 1: of making that movie. Howther did you have a good
- 10:26Speaker 1: time making that movie? No, he had good friends with
- 10:28Speaker 1: the co stars. He really didn't talk to me. I
- 10:31Speaker 1: think we had one night out. Yeah. He was really sweet,
- 10:33Speaker 1: but he had He was very much in a group,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and I was the old lady of everything. So I
- 10:37Speaker 1: was like, okay, that's not it at all. Were you
- 10:40Speaker 1: too cool for school? For so wevous? I was so nervous, Yes,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I was. He was, he was he was trust me,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I was. That's so sweet? We had we I think
- 10:53Speaker 1: we had one just one night out, right, that was it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: It was one long night, long night in a line
- 10:59Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, yeah, but if yeah, that was it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Fun time. I enjoyed making that movie. I enjoyed being
- 11:06Speaker 1: in that city in the summertime. That was so cool.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I know, I was like, I'll all go to New York.
- 11:11Speaker 1: That's great. It's so rare when someone actually lets you
- 11:13Speaker 1: shoot in Manhattan these days or even those days. So
- 11:16Speaker 1: when someone's like it's a movie and you're like, okay,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I like the script, they're like, and it's shooting in Vancouver. Yeah, exactly,
- 11:22Speaker 1: exactly right, That's how it always. We were just saying
- 11:25Speaker 1: that how Vancouver has an opportunity right now, right this
- 11:28Speaker 1: mo yeah, right, but they could snatch up all the work.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I know. We just said that before you, before you
- 11:34Speaker 1: came out and Heather, we were saying that Canada is
- 11:36Speaker 1: in a position since the since COVID is just devouring
- 11:39Speaker 1: Los Angeles to steal production once and for all. Oh
- 11:43Speaker 1: for sure, yeah, just not with us. Yeah we're not
- 11:46Speaker 1: allowed in, but maybe one day to let us in.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Maybe one day to let us in. We never really
- 11:51Speaker 1: wanted to go to Canada so much, I know, and
- 11:54Speaker 1: now and now it's exact. It's exactly like like life
- 11:57Speaker 1: when someone's like, now we don't now you know, now
- 11:59Speaker 1: we're all please let us in, please let be let
- 12:01Speaker 1: us be in a relationship. With you right exactly, Heather.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I was just looking at your IMDb, and an actor
- 12:09Speaker 1: could only dream to have had the length of a
- 12:12Speaker 1: career you've had. I mean you have. I can't I
- 12:15Speaker 1: I donald, and I can only hope that that we
- 12:19Speaker 1: have a fraction of the success you've had over your life.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Oh you already do no, No, no, you're started. No,
- 12:24Speaker 1: you start right. I'm older than you. Well, i'm older
- 12:26Speaker 1: than you. Time to catch up. You have a smigels.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But but you started very young. And now is it
- 12:31Speaker 1: true that I was just looking? What was the was
- 12:34Speaker 1: it Chips? Your very first job, That's what I mean?
- 12:36Speaker 1: He says. It was my first job, my first line,
- 12:39Speaker 1: make them stop? Please make them stops, and remember that
- 12:44Speaker 1: was good. It was actually a group of motorcycle riders
- 12:50Speaker 1: throwing a girl up in a blanket. I don't know
- 12:52Speaker 1: if it was me or someone else, but I remember
- 12:53Speaker 1: for the audition, I was always nervous and um. For
- 12:57Speaker 1: the audition. I heard the girl before me say make
- 13:01Speaker 1: them so, please make them talk, and I'm like, oh,
- 13:02Speaker 1: that's the way I'm supposed to do it. So I
- 13:04Speaker 1: copied her. You stole her line reading I'm gonna try
- 13:11Speaker 1: that yes, I did. I was. Yeah, it was very good.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So wait, why was it so these motorcycle man? I
- 13:15Speaker 1: just want to catch the scene. They have a teenage
- 13:17Speaker 1: girl in a blanket and they're throwing I think there's
- 13:20Speaker 1: two of us and um and I think, yeah, they
- 13:23Speaker 1: might be throwing the other girl up in a blanket
- 13:25Speaker 1: and there she's so terrified of these guys and I'm screaming,
- 13:29Speaker 1: make them stop. I don't know who I'm screaming too.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Probably probably to punch, Yeah, probably to punch your job.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I hope it was John or Punch that came to
- 13:37Speaker 1: your rescue. Yeah, it's like if you're on if you're
- 13:40Speaker 1: on Chips and like your storyline didn't involve pont puncher
- 13:43Speaker 1: John point Ye. I wonder if that happen with us,
- 13:50Speaker 1: like people like you know, Heather, you got to do
- 13:52Speaker 1: two episodes and you got to interact with almost everyone. Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 1: I'd be funny if you came to do a show
- 13:58Speaker 1: that was popular and like you never your storyline didn't
- 14:01Speaker 1: include any of the lead character. Can you imagine You're like, oh,
- 14:04Speaker 1: it's that's well. Oh, actually there was something I did.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I did the First Wives Club, and there was a
- 14:11Speaker 1: couple of scenes and there was there was a couple
- 14:13Speaker 1: of scenes that they cut out of me, and then
- 14:15Speaker 1: the only scene that I had at no lines, and
- 14:18Speaker 1: one of the actors were at a funeral and he's
- 14:20Speaker 1: supposed to take his hand and touch my breast and
- 14:23Speaker 1: they show that and he actually touched more than It
- 14:27Speaker 1: was kind of gross, and so I said, can you
- 14:31Speaker 1: just take my name off the credit since now I
- 14:32Speaker 1: don't have any lines or and you know I saw
- 14:35Speaker 1: everyone from Afar, so it was credit less. So wait,
- 14:38Speaker 1: you're in the First Wives Club and the only thing
- 14:40Speaker 1: that happens is a man grabs your breast. He doesn't
- 14:42Speaker 1: grab it, he actually outlines my area with his finger.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I didn't say that in the script. I was like,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I'm so glad they're following his hand down because my face,
- 14:52Speaker 1: my mouth is fallen open and I can't believe it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And don't do it again. Just one take and let's go.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Oh my god. Yeah, you know, I you know, I've
- 15:00Speaker 1: never asked someone this, but it's just it must be.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It's a it's a blessing because you're such a stunning
- 15:06Speaker 1: woman and always have been a sex I think it's
- 15:08Speaker 1: safe to say you were a sex symbol because you
- 15:11Speaker 1: are you are were okay, no, you were in art
- 15:14Speaker 1: and uh is it ever? Because Donald and I never
- 15:18Speaker 1: faced this problem. We're not sex symbols. But I mean,
- 15:22Speaker 1: did you ever feel like did you feel like did
- 15:24Speaker 1: you did you sometimes feel like guys like I don't
- 15:26Speaker 1: I want to do the part, but I don't want
- 15:28Speaker 1: to do that that random sex scene with that guy,
- 15:30Speaker 1: Like does that have to be in there? Does that
- 15:31Speaker 1: come up? Well, it wasn't really. We were at we
- 15:33Speaker 1: were in a funeral. We were on the benches at
- 15:35Speaker 1: the church. Yeah, so it was, and so there was
- 15:38Speaker 1: more to the part, and I had feeling the bigger,
- 15:40Speaker 1: bigger scenes, and that's they just thought they, I don't know,
- 15:43Speaker 1: maybe I was bad in it, and they went, let's
- 15:45Speaker 1: just put that. I doubt it. You're one of the viewer.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You're one of the very few people. You're one of
- 15:51Speaker 1: the people that we were talking about you because you're
- 15:53Speaker 1: one of the very few people that was on two
- 15:55Speaker 1: hit shows at the same time, right right, that was
- 15:58Speaker 1: very cool. I tell us about that you were doing,
- 16:00Speaker 1: you were doing um Dynasty, Dynasty and and t J Hooker. First,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I did, how opposite can you be? Um, and Dynasty.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I think they let me go because they were letting
- 16:12Speaker 1: someone else go and I'm like, okay, So then I
- 16:15Speaker 1: got this other job t J. Hooker, and then they
- 16:16Speaker 1: brought me back, so um, you know I would we
- 16:20Speaker 1: work week here in a couple days on Dynasty and
- 16:23Speaker 1: it was no big deal. I wasn't the main purse character,
- 16:25Speaker 1: so it's only had a few lines in each thing.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It wasn't tough about it was a big deal because
- 16:29Speaker 1: that doesn't ever happen to anybody. Yeah, it two different networks.
- 16:33Speaker 1: It two different networks. Now it was ABC and it
- 16:36Speaker 1: was they were both spelling o that. Yeah. Did love
- 16:42Speaker 1: Heather Locklear? He sure did? And then he passed away
- 16:44Speaker 1: and then I'm like, jobless, don't say that, don't say
- 16:50Speaker 1: you listen to Bill Bill Lawrence clear Well, I did
- 16:55Speaker 1: Spin City and I'm not sure if he was writing
- 16:57Speaker 1: on it then or not. I'm not sure what the
- 16:59Speaker 1: thing was. Maybe he left, but I think he might
- 17:02Speaker 1: have created it. Is that true or not? Yes, he
- 17:04Speaker 1: created the show, and I'm sure if he wasn't writing that,
- 17:06Speaker 1: he obviously thought you were very funny something. Yeah, but
- 17:10Speaker 1: he also you know, Bill is a very one thing
- 17:13Speaker 1: about our friends. He's very loyal and when he likes people,
- 17:17Speaker 1: he likes to work with them over and over again.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So even if he wasn't writing the show at the time,
- 17:22Speaker 1: the fact that you were on the show means he
- 17:24Speaker 1: was like, oh, you know, he's obviously seen your work
- 17:26Speaker 1: and thought, oh, she's so funny, she's so beautiful. And
- 17:29Speaker 1: well I befriended his wife, and so now I get
- 17:32Speaker 1: Christmas cards. Oh that's the way in, that's the way
- 17:36Speaker 1: that is. It's always the wife. Chris. What was t J.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Hooker like, because we always hear all these Shattner stories,
- 17:42Speaker 1: mostly from Star Trek, but but you knew like Shatner,
- 17:46Speaker 1: I mean, this is a long time ago. Well, he
- 17:49Speaker 1: was very intimidating to me, and he's like, when you
- 17:52Speaker 1: stop speaking, saying, you know, like you can't think for
- 17:54Speaker 1: any lines, kind of like on your Sean Scrubs, you
- 17:56Speaker 1: can't think, you can't go hum. I mean you do,
- 17:59Speaker 1: you guys do, because then you have that bubble where
- 18:01Speaker 1: you're doing something else. But he would say, if you
- 18:03Speaker 1: stop speaking and take I'm gonna start, I'm gonna jump in.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So I'm like baa. And it was always like license
- 18:10Speaker 1: plate numbers. I'd have to remember, oh, license plate blah
- 18:12Speaker 1: blah blah, blah blah, and this and blah blah. And
- 18:14Speaker 1: they'd have different fifty different characters in one show, and
- 18:17Speaker 1: so I was just delivering them boring information and it
- 18:19Speaker 1: made me so nervous. So and he'd look at me
- 18:22Speaker 1: and stare and wait, and I'd go and he jumped
- 18:26Speaker 1: in and that was about it. Yea, he is very intimate.
- 18:30Speaker 1: He's Captain Kirk. I can understand why he's well, I
- 18:32Speaker 1: didn't ever see those shows. So he was the shat
- 18:36Speaker 1: even at the last even at the time, Heather, were
- 18:38Speaker 1: you curious to not to go back and see, like, oh,
- 18:40Speaker 1: let me see what this was? This guy's the lure
- 18:43Speaker 1: of of Shatner. Yes, I did. I could see the allure.
- 18:46Speaker 1: He's very charming. Um. But he's very and he's very
- 18:50Speaker 1: funny and very dry. Um. I had ended up doing
- 18:53Speaker 1: a Boston Legal with him and that was fun. And
- 18:56Speaker 1: I was a little older more it seemed closer to
- 18:59Speaker 1: his age than when I was eighteen, um and brand new. Um.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But he and then I remember going, I think I
- 19:06Speaker 1: don't maybe it was Nobu and um I it was
- 19:11Speaker 1: he and his wife, and we went to some place
- 19:14Speaker 1: where you throw the braws off and you put him
- 19:15Speaker 1: on the ceiling something like something similar, something similar. I
- 19:21Speaker 1: don't think it was that, but it was another place
- 19:23Speaker 1: and I was on the bar and I go, should
- 19:26Speaker 1: I take it off? And I'm thinking he's probably going,
- 19:28Speaker 1: why are you asking me? And he said sure, and
- 19:30Speaker 1: I took it off and it's left there somewhere. Um,
- 19:33Speaker 1: he's like, why asking me? Right? Um? What's his name?
- 19:43Speaker 1: On a Seinfeld? The little guy who Yes, So he
- 19:49Speaker 1: is a huge fan of William Shatters And if you watch,
- 19:52Speaker 1: he goes, tell me what schatters like, tell me what
- 19:54Speaker 1: he's like. And I'm like, well, sometimes he's an asshole,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and um, sometimes he's not. But he's like, oh, I
- 20:00Speaker 1: got and I didn't want to, you know, say anything there.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I mean, there's nothing wrong with William Bill but um,
- 20:06Speaker 1: so you if you go back and watch, you'll see
- 20:08Speaker 1: his cadence is similar to William Shatner's. Oh really he
- 20:12Speaker 1: was Jerry. Now you have to look at it differently. Yeah,
- 20:17Speaker 1: coming over, yeah, coming over, Jerry exactly past the Wow,
- 20:25Speaker 1: this is gonna blow people's minds. So Jason Alexander was
- 20:28Speaker 1: such a big fan of William Shatner that if you
- 20:30Speaker 1: listen to his cadence, some of it is in the
- 20:32Speaker 1: spirit of that unique Shatner cadence. Exactly. I want to
- 20:38Speaker 1: meet the person. I want to meet the person who's
- 20:40Speaker 1: a fan like like it's such a fan of like
- 20:42Speaker 1: Christopher Walking and tries to steal his cadence. That's the
- 20:45Speaker 1: hardest cadence I've ever heard in my life. That is
- 20:47Speaker 1: the toughest I feel at home speaking right the seeing
- 20:53Speaker 1: of wait, by the way, you do a great um
- 20:56Speaker 1: Jimmy crack Corn of Neildman I had. That's stuck in
- 21:00Speaker 1: my head. I don't care. Only that is the only
- 21:06Speaker 1: impersonation that I can do that's actually close to it.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It's it's it's it's only because when I was a kid,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I used to watch you know, Transformers and and G
- 21:17Speaker 1: I Joe after school on you know, W P I X,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and they would always in between the shows that they
- 21:24Speaker 1: would play a commercial for Neil Diamond's greatest hits, Oh
- 21:29Speaker 1: my gosh, and I could only get the first few lines.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I don't I've never owned a Neil Diamond record. I've
- 21:35Speaker 1: never been to a Neil Diamond concert. I've never seen
- 21:39Speaker 1: a Neil Diamond movie. All I know is that he
- 21:42Speaker 1: sang a bunch of songs and they went like turn
- 21:45Speaker 1: on your hard light, a very good let it shine
- 21:48Speaker 1: wherever you go around the world. Oh my, that's surprised. Now.
- 22:02Speaker 1: It's the only all the years I've known him, Heather,
- 22:06Speaker 1: it's the only impression he does. Well. Yeah, like they
- 22:09Speaker 1: tried to get me to do Aaron nevill I can't do.
- 22:24Speaker 1: That's great, that's all we got. Now. I'm guessing Jimmy
- 22:27Speaker 1: Krackcorn is probably a public domain song. I'm guessing because
- 22:31Speaker 1: they didn't. Maybe that's why we chose it because we
- 22:35Speaker 1: didn't have to pay for it. But all the songs
- 22:37Speaker 1: in this episode, Heather, sometimes, now that these shows are
- 22:41Speaker 1: all streaming, some of the songs had to be replaced
- 22:44Speaker 1: because the contracts they signed for the original show didn't
- 22:46Speaker 1: didn't extend to streaming. So, uh, this episode I thought
- 22:50Speaker 1: really suffered because there was some good music in this
- 22:52Speaker 1: episode that is all gone. I don't know if you
- 22:55Speaker 1: guys love Yeah, I did watch, but I didn't. Well,
- 22:59Speaker 1: the end be a Nelly song, right, and that was
- 23:02Speaker 1: not the song. If you want to go and take
- 23:03Speaker 1: a rap with me might yeah and then wow, but
- 23:15Speaker 1: I just wanted to say that the show ends, and
- 23:17Speaker 1: it's supposed to be like we're on a rooftop and
- 23:19Speaker 1: in downtown LA, and it's it's like and then I
- 23:22Speaker 1: was really I was really noticing that that song whenever
- 23:25Speaker 1: they replaced the song, well, was someone that went in.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I think it was Randall? Oh you did Spin City? Yeah?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Well he he told Donald and I that he was
- 23:38Speaker 1: the one who had to oversee someone going, hey, we
- 23:41Speaker 1: got to fill in these slots, and so I don't know,
- 23:44Speaker 1: they're not nearly as good, but I guess if you
- 23:46Speaker 1: have the DVDs, you're the only person with the real
- 23:48Speaker 1: all the real original music. But we we usually I
- 23:51Speaker 1: think I do. Should we get into the recap? Let's
- 23:53Speaker 1: get into the recap because we've got the how they're Lockley,
- 23:56Speaker 1: you're here? Um. JANEA. Bachin wrote this episode. She's a
- 24:00Speaker 1: very I mean, do you want me to do that
- 24:01Speaker 1: thirty minute recap? Oh? Sorry, thirty minutes, thirty minutes. Sorry,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I forgot Heather. Um, we have a new thing there, Donald,
- 24:10Speaker 1: it's not new anymore, but we keep forgetting it. But
- 24:12Speaker 1: Zach keeps forgetting about it. I love it. I know
- 24:15Speaker 1: why I forget about it. I love it. I don't
- 24:16Speaker 1: know either. Listen, it's anxiety for me. I freaking sit
- 24:20Speaker 1: down and I really think about it. And sometimes it's good,
- 24:23Speaker 1: sometimes it's not. That's how it goes anyway, Heather, he
- 24:26Speaker 1: is going to sum up the whole episode in thirty seconds,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and then together we'll go through and really parse it
- 24:32Speaker 1: all out. But now I get stop, watch out, hold
- 24:34Speaker 1: on Donald. Okay, listen, this might be a little bit
- 24:36Speaker 1: longer than thirty seconds, but I really like it when
- 24:38Speaker 1: you at least try to get thirty sets. But then
- 24:40Speaker 1: I might miss out on things and stutter over my
- 24:43Speaker 1: words because I'm so nervous. This is This is very nervouacking.
- 24:45Speaker 1: But here we go, keep marks, get set go. This
- 24:49Speaker 1: episode's about a bunch of things, but mostly it's about
- 24:52Speaker 1: double standards. Turke and jd are fine if they robbed
- 24:55Speaker 1: the hospital, but not each other. Cox hates his hates
- 24:58Speaker 1: the fact that his girlfriend has baggage, but binds up
- 25:01Speaker 1: having his own. Elliott loves the perks of having daddy
- 25:04Speaker 1: take care of everything, but longs to make her own
- 25:07Speaker 1: career decisions. This is an important episode because at the end,
- 25:11Speaker 1: all of them are moving forward in their personal lives.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Turken Caller at the next level of their relationship, Jordan
- 25:17Speaker 1: and Cox are going to start a family, Elliott is
- 25:20Speaker 1: stepping away from her comfort zone, and the hospital is
- 25:22Speaker 1: becoming more of a backdrop. Meaning this is a sneak
- 25:26Speaker 1: peak of what's to come. Oh shit, that was amazing.
- 25:29Speaker 1: It was amazing. It was thirty nine seconds. So in
- 25:32Speaker 1: some ways you failed. But let me tell you how.
- 25:34Speaker 1: You listen, let me tell you how. I didn't give
- 25:35Speaker 1: a I don't care. I don't care if I feel
- 25:38Speaker 1: it anymore. I don't care because it could be I'll
- 25:41Speaker 1: do a minute one next time. I want to give
- 25:43Speaker 1: you a genuine compliment. Do a minute one next time.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I want to give you a genuine compliment. Donald, That
- 25:50Speaker 1: was real, not no bullshit. That was a very good summary,
- 25:53Speaker 1: and you actually highlighted things that I didn't even see.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I saw what you were saying in terms of the
- 25:59Speaker 1: episode being um being about new chapters in a sense,
- 26:03Speaker 1: but I didn't think of it in the macro like, oh,
- 26:05Speaker 1: this is a shift in in in the show in
- 26:09Speaker 1: that we tease the marriage, we tease Johnny c and
- 26:13Speaker 1: Christa getting back together. Um, we tease Elliott going off
- 26:17Speaker 1: on her own. Right, Elliott is separating from her parents
- 26:20Speaker 1: and and and and being financially independent. And JD realizing
- 26:24Speaker 1: he's about to be in limbo at the end of
- 26:26Speaker 1: the episode, Right j JD nervous about losing his best
- 26:29Speaker 1: friend because Carlos says the word we about Turk and
- 26:32Speaker 1: her and and he's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what's
- 26:34Speaker 1: happening here? Am I gonna lose my best friend? So
- 26:37Speaker 1: my point is that was very good because your your
- 26:40Speaker 1: summary was not just hey, here are the facts. It
- 26:43Speaker 1: had some insight into it. I will gladly give up
- 26:47Speaker 1: those nine seconds of failure appreciate the insight. So that
- 26:50Speaker 1: thunders applause Dan, thunders applause Dan, Dan, I'm going to
- 26:53Speaker 1: approve that. Thunderous applause TECHND. I wonder if we should
- 26:57Speaker 1: make it so when we add these on, there's a
- 27:00Speaker 1: plause toun of x if if we both need to improve.
- 27:03Speaker 1: It's like it's like you know when in the Nuclear
- 27:05Speaker 1: Code where they both have it to turn their key.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, that's my favorite part of Superman UH
- 27:11Speaker 1: three with Richard Pryor in it where he's pretending he's
- 27:14Speaker 1: drunk and he has to put the keys in at
- 27:16Speaker 1: the same time, and he makes he makes a little uh,
- 27:20Speaker 1: not a concoction, but like a little uh levy using
- 27:22Speaker 1: another person. If you ever going to be the opportunity,
- 27:25Speaker 1: what about the beginning of war games? What about the
- 27:27Speaker 1: beginning of war games when they go turn your key, sir,
- 27:29Speaker 1: put the turn your key and he puts his gun. Yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 1: oh that was a great scene. Love it. Sorry, Heather,
- 27:35Speaker 1: we sometimes have trouble staying on love me. Thanks to
- 27:40Speaker 1: look for this podcast should be called a digression. That's okay.
- 27:46Speaker 1: It's some people. I see some people on the web.
- 27:49Speaker 1: We're commenting like, I really enjoy it, but they don't
- 27:51Speaker 1: always talk about the episode. I'm like, well, guys, that's
- 27:53Speaker 1: the show. This is the show. That the show, the
- 27:55Speaker 1: show is there, right, the show is this? Right? We also, okay,
- 28:01Speaker 1: so they all they talk about things I don't know
- 28:03Speaker 1: where Yeah, all right, so um. The first thing I
- 28:06Speaker 1: laughed at out loud was when I walk in Carla
- 28:10Speaker 1: is in the apartment and I pick up our taxidermy
- 28:13Speaker 1: dog to hide my my tidy whities, and Donald walks
- 28:17Speaker 1: and he goes, don't use rowdy to cover up your giblets.
- 28:24Speaker 1: The dialogue is excellent. Weird word for what A weird
- 28:28Speaker 1: word for what a great word for grind giblets. I
- 28:32Speaker 1: like it giblets. It sounds like what what is it? Gizzards?
- 28:37Speaker 1: To me? Like, what are giblets? What are giblets? It's
- 28:40Speaker 1: the extra it's the extra stuff. Biscuits A burning giblets
- 28:45Speaker 1: are the stuff you don't use when you cook a turkey, right,
- 28:48Speaker 1: chicken or whatever. I don't know. I thought take it
- 28:51Speaker 1: out that I don't know the culinary term for edible
- 28:57Speaker 1: awful of a foul that typically includes the heart, the
- 29:00Speaker 1: actual gizzards, liver, and other organs. There you go, I
- 29:04Speaker 1: know what those other ones are. Yeah, yeah, no one
- 29:09Speaker 1: cooks chicken. Penis might be a delicacy. Somewhere about to say,
- 29:16Speaker 1: you never know? You never know either do you like
- 29:19Speaker 1: eating weird stuff? Or or are you conservatively you're you know, no,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I eat like, what's weird giblets? I don't know. I'm
- 29:27Speaker 1: not saiblets, but like to eat like, you know, when
- 29:31Speaker 1: you're out and about and someone says, oh, tried this
- 29:33Speaker 1: weird food? Do you do you do that because I
- 29:35Speaker 1: normally don't. I'm like, no, I'm gonna have you ever
- 29:37Speaker 1: Have you ever had snails? No, I've never had a cargo.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I have that's good, but no, I usually ask for
- 29:43Speaker 1: someone else to taste it first and look at their face. Donald, Donald,
- 29:50Speaker 1: are you an adventurous I don't think you too. You
- 29:54Speaker 1: like what you like. I don't around with food, man,
- 29:56Speaker 1: but you like sushi. I do like sushi, and I
- 29:59Speaker 1: like some texture is a big deal for me. And
- 30:02Speaker 1: if I know what it is and then the texture
- 30:05Speaker 1: is what I imagine it would be like, then I
- 30:08Speaker 1: have a problem with it. Like somebody was like, do
- 30:10Speaker 1: you like beef tongue? And I was like, absolutely not. No.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And it's all because when I was younger, I tried
- 30:16Speaker 1: it and my grandmother made it and I tried it
- 30:19Speaker 1: and it tasted exactly well, it didn't taste like but
- 30:22Speaker 1: it felt in my mouth exactly what I thought a
- 30:25Speaker 1: tongue would feel like. If you can always like, just
- 30:29Speaker 1: check your own tongue and it's probably like that, yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 1: exactly what it was like chewing all night tongue And
- 30:34Speaker 1: I was like, I'll never ever ever see it in there,
- 30:36Speaker 1: and like the deli counter. They'll be just like a
- 30:38Speaker 1: giant beef tongue. It's I don't like that. But those
- 30:43Speaker 1: people eat brains too, they eat cal brains, right, yeah, no,
- 30:46Speaker 1: I do you know it's a delicacy in some places.
- 30:48Speaker 1: It's like it's like watching Indiana Jones and the Temple
- 30:50Speaker 1: of Doom Chilled monkey Brain. Yeah, as we talked about
- 30:54Speaker 1: that movie Gaming Nightmares. Yeah, um, this was a big episode, yeah,
- 30:59Speaker 1: from me in particular. When I look back at it now,
- 31:02Speaker 1: it's even bigger. Ken Winningham, the first black director Scrubs
- 31:07Speaker 1: has ever had, yes, directed this episode. Yeah, I think
- 31:12Speaker 1: this is its first time directing it too. And Ken's
- 31:14Speaker 1: a very good director, and he became one of our
- 31:17Speaker 1: regulars because we love Ken Winningham. He's gone on to
- 31:20Speaker 1: direct so many shows. He's directed pretty much everything. He's
- 31:24Speaker 1: directed pretty much everything. But I remember thinking, I remember
- 31:28Speaker 1: thinking about, oh, they hired a brother. Okay, Um, so
- 31:32Speaker 1: that that was good. I mean that was that made
- 31:34Speaker 1: you feel um like okay about obviously about time, guys,
- 31:38Speaker 1: it's like middle of season two. How about some people
- 31:40Speaker 1: of of different minorities that are directing the show? Right?
- 31:44Speaker 1: We did? We had had a had we had a woman,
- 31:46Speaker 1: we'd had a couple of women director already at this point,
- 31:49Speaker 1: maybe Gail Mancuso. I think, m yeah, but I mean
- 31:54Speaker 1: now and now this is twenty years later, this is
- 31:55Speaker 1: still a big conversation. Yeah, it's what it is, right
- 31:59Speaker 1: and you know, you know, we've still got to make
- 32:01Speaker 1: these moves, but it's it's it's what it is, and
- 32:04Speaker 1: it's time for it's time to change that. We got
- 32:07Speaker 1: to restart coming up soon. So that's that's uh now
- 32:13Speaker 1: now in again, I think in a in a good way,
- 32:15Speaker 1: there's a mandate making sure people do it. You know,
- 32:18Speaker 1: the networks in the studios. I've really said when I
- 32:20Speaker 1: when we made our show Alex Sync, they said, no,
- 32:22Speaker 1: we want you know, it isn't It isn't like, oh,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you guys can do whatever you want. It's like, no,
- 32:27Speaker 1: we would like a certain amount of minorities to be represented,
- 32:30Speaker 1: we'd like a certain amount of women to be represented.
- 32:32Speaker 1: And I think that that's really great and only getting better.
- 32:35Speaker 1: I agree with you. Let's go to break, guys, We're
- 32:38Speaker 1: gonna go to break and be right back with Heather Lock.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Were any bad? Um? I'm weeping at two fifty four
- 32:54Speaker 1: because doctor Cox, I think winked at me. And that's
- 32:57Speaker 1: how happy I am that is approved. Were those real
- 33:01Speaker 1: tears or did somebody? No? No, I mean when I'm
- 33:06Speaker 1: doing a dramatic thing, I can get myself there. But
- 33:09Speaker 1: in a comedic cart in no way, am I just
- 33:11Speaker 1: gonna start bawling? All right? I want to ask you,
- 33:13Speaker 1: I want to ask you to do it. Can you
- 33:14Speaker 1: do that? Can you cry on cue? No? Right, it's
- 33:18Speaker 1: very hard. I meant to tell the Garden State story, dude,
- 33:22Speaker 1: tell the story of Natalie Portman and tell the story
- 33:24Speaker 1: of you. The two different versions of crying in that movie. Well,
- 33:28Speaker 1: Natalie is very good at that. Natalie Um like some
- 33:31Speaker 1: actresses I know. Can Sarah Chawk's another person I know
- 33:34Speaker 1: who can do this, can kind of go off in
- 33:36Speaker 1: the corner for a minute and get herself into a
- 33:38Speaker 1: head place. Yeah, and then and then do it and
- 33:41Speaker 1: cry for me. And then Garden State she had to
- 33:43Speaker 1: do that a lot because she had some some crying
- 33:46Speaker 1: moments for me. I actually was a blessing in disguise
- 33:50Speaker 1: because when there was a scene in in the in
- 33:54Speaker 1: a bathtub, empty bathtub where we're sitting and I was
- 33:56Speaker 1: meant to cry, and I there was a we shot
- 33:59Speaker 1: the wide master shot first, and and and like I said,
- 34:03Speaker 1: just being in that moment and with such a good actress,
- 34:05Speaker 1: and it was so real. It genuinely happened, and I
- 34:08Speaker 1: cried and it was a powerful moment, except that it
- 34:14Speaker 1: was the big wide master right and um, and the
- 34:17Speaker 1: camera wasn't going to see most of that. It was
- 34:18Speaker 1: just sort of establishing the room. The trick for those
- 34:21Speaker 1: of you who aren't in the entertainment sustry and doing
- 34:23Speaker 1: what we do is now you're gonna to do that
- 34:24Speaker 1: over and over and over again. You're gonna have to
- 34:27Speaker 1: do it when then when the medium shot, you have
- 34:28Speaker 1: to do it. When it's a close up, you're gonna
- 34:30Speaker 1: have to do it when it's over Natalie's shoulder. And
- 34:32Speaker 1: for me that was close to impossible to just keep
- 34:35Speaker 1: being able to emulate what had happened naturally in the
- 34:39Speaker 1: wide shot. But that's the that's the task of a
- 34:41Speaker 1: of an actor, but for me it was. But but
- 34:44Speaker 1: I was also directing, so then I had to go, Okay,
- 34:46Speaker 1: this isn't gonna match and you know what, maybe it's
- 34:49Speaker 1: too much. So I decided just to just on the
- 34:53Speaker 1: spot go if it's not happening naturally, I don't want
- 34:56Speaker 1: it to be this false. So then it became I
- 35:00Speaker 1: only shed one single tear, and then we had a
- 35:02Speaker 1: joke about her collecting it in a little plastic cup.
- 35:06Speaker 1: But but so that that was kind of how I help,
- 35:08Speaker 1: because when I was directing, I felt like, you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: if it's forced and it's false, and it's weird that
- 35:12Speaker 1: I'd rather not have it even be in the in
- 35:14Speaker 1: the show, is that what you meant to submit itself?
- 35:16Speaker 1: The exact story I was talking about. I found that such.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I found that so fascinating. It was like the scene
- 35:22Speaker 1: was supposed to be something else, and you you know,
- 35:26Speaker 1: you blew your wad in the first your first in
- 35:30Speaker 1: the yeah, and now it's and now it's time to
- 35:34Speaker 1: do it again, and it's like, all right, well we're
- 35:36Speaker 1: not gonna get that. And you turned it. You turned
- 35:39Speaker 1: the negative into a positive. And it's actually one of
- 35:42Speaker 1: the more powerful scenes in the movie. Yeah, thank you,
- 35:45Speaker 1: thank you. That's pretty great. Thank you. I just go, no,
- 35:49Speaker 1: no go you guys. I was going to say that
- 35:51Speaker 1: it's a it's a good lesson for filmmakers out there. Um,
- 35:56Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be related to tears, but about
- 35:58Speaker 1: about adapting. So something happens and you go and I've
- 36:01Speaker 1: had this happen. You know, when you're directing something, whether
- 36:03Speaker 1: it's a music video or a giant feature film, every
- 36:05Speaker 1: day something is going to happen where you're gonna go, Okay,
- 36:08Speaker 1: that's not according to plan. Is this a blessing in disguise?
- 36:12Speaker 1: So for me and this example Donald's talking about, it
- 36:14Speaker 1: was like being able to cry NonStop for hours was
- 36:18Speaker 1: just not going to happen. It just wasn't what my
- 36:20Speaker 1: head wasn't in that space. I was also directing the
- 36:22Speaker 1: movie and had so much anxiety going on. So then
- 36:24Speaker 1: it was like shifting, Well, what if it's not that.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Maybe maybe bawling like that is way too much for
- 36:29Speaker 1: this character. What if it's if? What if it's actually
- 36:31Speaker 1: a joke that all I can produce is one tier
- 36:33Speaker 1: and we laugh about it. So sometimes just going with
- 36:37Speaker 1: it and coming up with a new plan on the
- 36:39Speaker 1: spot is one of the most crucial things of being
- 36:42Speaker 1: a filmmaker, but also a lot of blessings in disguise
- 36:46Speaker 1: can come out of it. Usually when I'm in that place,
- 36:49Speaker 1: the director says, don't blow it on this master, we're
- 36:52Speaker 1: gonna it's going to be for a second and then
- 36:54Speaker 1: we'll come in and do that. But I do find
- 36:56Speaker 1: what you said. I mean, I I don't think heavy
- 37:00Speaker 1: tears unless it's like for whatever reason is called for.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I think the real moment is when you're in the moment,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and if it comes, it comes, But usually your face
- 37:08Speaker 1: and your heart starts to happen, and all kinds of
- 37:10Speaker 1: stuff happen. It becomes more real. Rather than showing something
- 37:14Speaker 1: and trying to get to show something, it's whatever else
- 37:17Speaker 1: has I agree, it never feels as good as a
- 37:19Speaker 1: pet peeve of mine when you watch so many movies
- 37:21Speaker 1: and TV shows where someone is crying but there aren't
- 37:24Speaker 1: tears coming down their face. Yeah, next time you watch
- 37:28Speaker 1: it a crying scene, notice if the persons has actual
- 37:32Speaker 1: tears in their eyes, because a lot of times they're
- 37:34Speaker 1: scrunging up their face and making the noises, which is
- 37:36Speaker 1: just a huge pet peeve of mine. I would if
- 37:39Speaker 1: the moment, if it's a necessity and the project needs it,
- 37:43Speaker 1: are there's mental things blow in their eyes. There's all
- 37:45Speaker 1: sorts of tricks like if it's mandatory, go do it,
- 37:48Speaker 1: Go fake it. But don't don't do the there's no
- 37:51Speaker 1: water in your eyes crunch up face thing. I hate that.
- 37:55Speaker 1: I feel like Jane Fonda did that on a Golden
- 37:57Speaker 1: Pond or something. She talked about that she had more
- 38:00Speaker 1: tears left or something. I don't remember something like that,
- 38:03Speaker 1: but um, yeah, I think whatever the real moment is is,
- 38:06Speaker 1: if there's not a tear, yeah, just don't fake it.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Just go Yeah. People have reactions about stuff and it's
- 38:12Speaker 1: no tears come out, of course. And also sometimes even
- 38:15Speaker 1: as a writer, I find myself writing something where I'll go,
- 38:18Speaker 1: you know, in the script, I'll write, she hears the
- 38:21Speaker 1: news and instantly breaks down crying, and and then you think,
- 38:25Speaker 1: in reality, a lot of times people that doesn't happen
- 38:27Speaker 1: at all. You might cry later, but in the moment
- 38:29Speaker 1: of hearing it, you're just fucking dumbfounded. You're sitting there
- 38:32Speaker 1: likes like, you know what I mean. And I have
- 38:35Speaker 1: to catch yourself as I have to catch myself as
- 38:37Speaker 1: a writer going be very sparing with with with with
- 38:41Speaker 1: tears direction and yeah, of course, because that might happen naturally,
- 38:45Speaker 1: but also it can get especially it's tricky when you're
- 38:48Speaker 1: writing it. I'm one of the things I'm working on
- 38:50Speaker 1: now is this is this drama and I have to
- 38:52Speaker 1: find you have to find those moments so it doesn't
- 38:54Speaker 1: feel like, oh my god, there's all these these tears
- 38:57Speaker 1: and how do you do that when the stuff you're
- 38:59Speaker 1: talking it is very heavy? Well, what happens in real life?
- 39:02Speaker 1: You know? We Donald, I just had a friend die.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Of course I cried, but I got sorry, thank you.
- 39:09Speaker 1: But nine times out of ten, I was more sitting
- 39:10Speaker 1: there like this, dumbfounded with my with my head in
- 39:13Speaker 1: my hands and my jaw dropped. You know. So you
- 39:15Speaker 1: gotta you gotta remind yourselves about what's what's real, What's
- 39:18Speaker 1: what's really, what's what's what really happens. I remember doing
- 39:21Speaker 1: a scene for Dynasty. I don't think I've ever been
- 39:23Speaker 1: angry in my life, you know, in that up to
- 39:25Speaker 1: that time, and um, I was angry, but I'm so angry.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I started crying, and uh, I think they were like,
- 39:33Speaker 1: what the fff is she doing? But that was a
- 39:35Speaker 1: real emotion for where probably just for me, you know,
- 39:38Speaker 1: because being angry and that brought it about. But they
- 39:41Speaker 1: ended up did they use it? Oh good? Yeah? I
- 39:43Speaker 1: love that stuff. I love happy accidents. You know, you know, yeah,
- 39:47Speaker 1: in the in the comedy world, we are always you know,
- 39:50Speaker 1: it goes without saying you're trying to keep those moments in.
- 39:52Speaker 1: You know, we ripped something. We think it's fun. But
- 39:54Speaker 1: in the drama space too, you want to be like,
- 39:57Speaker 1: oh my god, Heather got so fucking mad she started crying. Eureka,
- 40:02Speaker 1: that was natural. That was real, Like keep it like,
- 40:05Speaker 1: that's the stuff, that's the that's the precious things we
- 40:07Speaker 1: all stumble into, you know, yes, yeah, it's amazing. Well
- 40:11Speaker 1: we started someone was comedically. I can never do it comedically,
- 40:14Speaker 1: so right that Meg Ryan scene in Freaking when Harry
- 40:19Speaker 1: met Sally when he comes over and she's crying because uh,
- 40:25Speaker 1: she's gonna be thirty soon and he's like when she's
- 40:28Speaker 1: like some day and she's crying, but it's there. That's
- 40:34Speaker 1: one of the best scenes ever in the history of
- 40:38Speaker 1: that That that's scene right there. That was your favorite
- 40:40Speaker 1: comedic that's your favorite comedic crying moment. Yeah, easily one
- 40:45Speaker 1: of That is my favorite comedic cry. Sarah Chuk was
- 40:49Speaker 1: good at doing it for real on this show because
- 40:51Speaker 1: she had times, I think even we've talked about it
- 40:53Speaker 1: where she had to be like you know, crying pretty
- 40:57Speaker 1: much on cute, not even from a dramatic moment from
- 41:00Speaker 1: from like, yeah, it's pretty hard, I think. Yeah, analgesic. Now,
- 41:06Speaker 1: I didn't know what what an anal jesic was. It's
- 41:09Speaker 1: aspirin um. Yeah, but we've always laughed at this joke
- 41:13Speaker 1: because your patient thinks it's anal jesic and puts the
- 41:16Speaker 1: pills in his Buttah, that's so good. It's a great joke. Yeah,
- 41:23Speaker 1: it's great. It's pronounced analgesic. The pills go in your mouth, sir, Yeah, no,
- 41:28Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't know what that was, did you
- 41:30Speaker 1: don Donald, you didn't know either, right, I don't know
- 41:32Speaker 1: how many people got that joke at the time. Well, no,
- 41:35Speaker 1: the joke isn't that. The joke is actually when you
- 41:38Speaker 1: tell him that it's not on your Yeah, right, right, yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 1: who gives a shit? Exactly? Okay, you're right, you're right,
- 41:46Speaker 1: you're right. Who cares? What it really is? The joke is,
- 41:48Speaker 1: old man, don't put these pills in your ass, right exactly?
- 41:53Speaker 1: That guy, I think Donald, if I'm not mistaken, he
- 41:55Speaker 1: was like a regular go to old man we often knew.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I've seen all was he in a bunch of episodes.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I've seen him a few times be like the go
- 42:05Speaker 1: to ancient old man. Do you want to ask Wicki
- 42:10Speaker 1: or is this something that would Wicki's not gonna know that,
- 42:13Speaker 1: And we haven't given him his his funkle pops. Dan.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Those his funk pops behind you. They're real. I didn't
- 42:18Speaker 1: know Dan has his funcle pops right behind that. Dan.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I didn't know if you purchased those for yourself or
- 42:24Speaker 1: if they were for Scrubs. Wicky guy. I acquire them
- 42:26Speaker 1: so that we could get weight signed as fast as possible. Okay, Heather,
- 42:30Speaker 1: you might want some of these. They're there. You have
- 42:32Speaker 1: a Scrubs pops. We have a Scrubs Wikipedia type page
- 42:36Speaker 1: where you uh can look up facts on the show.
- 42:42Speaker 1: And so we got the guy who helped curate this
- 42:45Speaker 1: whole thing with a bunch of other people, and he
- 42:48Speaker 1: comes on the show every now and then answers questions
- 42:50Speaker 1: for us, but he's he's not really into it, Like
- 42:53Speaker 1: he's kind of into it, but he's not really into it.
- 42:55Speaker 1: So we're bribing him. So we're like a technical advisor
- 42:58Speaker 1: kind of guy, somewhat of a yes, I that's a
- 43:02Speaker 1: that's a great way to put it. Yeah, that's a
- 43:04Speaker 1: good way of saying it. He's technically advising. He's like
- 43:07Speaker 1: the keeper of the scrubs Bible. Right, Well, yeah, I
- 43:11Speaker 1: guess so and so we but we got to bribe
- 43:14Speaker 1: him with Funco pops otherwise he doesn't do his job. Well,
- 43:17Speaker 1: that's what oh show for, Heather. Um. They're they kind
- 43:21Speaker 1: of look like bubble heads. They're they're a very popular thing.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Grown up action figures is what they are. They're action
- 43:26Speaker 1: figures from grown ups. It's kind of like it's kind
- 43:30Speaker 1: of like a bobblehead, but they don't bother. These ones
- 43:32Speaker 1: don't babble. I don't think, right, Dan, these aren't bobble ones. Right,
- 43:37Speaker 1: there are Funco pops that that that bobble We didn't
- 43:41Speaker 1: get those. Okay, that's very cool. So if your daughter
- 43:44Speaker 1: is truly a fan of Donald Faison, um, I know
- 43:48Speaker 1: it's from Uptown Girls, but you could get her a
- 43:50Speaker 1: Donald Faison Funco pop. You know, her boyfriend would be destroyed,
- 43:54Speaker 1: okay for him. Don't come up break them? Oh right,
- 44:02Speaker 1: that would be the coolest thing ever. I could walk
- 44:04Speaker 1: around and say that I broke them up. The craziest
- 44:08Speaker 1: thing is if my daughter wore that dress behind you,
- 44:10Speaker 1: oh my god, she might like it. Well, my wife
- 44:14Speaker 1: would probably break up with me. Now I like that.
- 44:20Speaker 1: So there's this pressure, as we understand it, for women,
- 44:25Speaker 1: young doctors to go into become ob gyms because they
- 44:29Speaker 1: make a lot of money, I guess. So we have
- 44:32Speaker 1: this thing where the guino girls are are coming after
- 44:35Speaker 1: that was funny, and then Jady goes in this fantasy
- 44:39Speaker 1: and they're having a pillow fight and they start making
- 44:41Speaker 1: out and then he gets interrupted, so he never gets
- 44:43Speaker 1: to see any of the fun sex. And then he
- 44:47Speaker 1: tries to go back into the fantasy and she says,
- 44:50Speaker 1: I'm very glad that we experimented with each other, but
- 44:52Speaker 1: I'll never do it again. That will never happen again. Yeah,
- 44:56Speaker 1: he's missed the whole dreamy fantasy. Yeah, I love the
- 45:00Speaker 1: fact that, uh that when uh Heather and Cox are
- 45:05Speaker 1: walking through the hallway and she's saying hi to all
- 45:08Speaker 1: the other doctors and everything like that. Yeah, he thinks
- 45:10Speaker 1: she's just flirting and she's like, no, no, no, I
- 45:13Speaker 1: slept with them, and right Heather unabashedly the characters like
- 45:21Speaker 1: he was like, thinks, oh, you're bribing them because you're
- 45:23Speaker 1: selling pharmaceuticals. She's like, no, I just slept with them
- 45:26Speaker 1: exactly like that about her though, she was like, no,
- 45:28Speaker 1: you get to fuck around, Like yeah, I bug around. Yeah,
- 45:31Speaker 1: I mean, and that's my motto too. I think that's
- 45:34Speaker 1: I think that's everybody. I think we're starting to gear
- 45:36Speaker 1: into that being everybody's motto now, like that shouldn't be
- 45:39Speaker 1: any stead Like that's what I was saying. The show
- 45:41Speaker 1: is such about it's this episode in particular is about
- 45:44Speaker 1: double standards, you know what I mean, and how to
- 45:47Speaker 1: and how we and how we tackle double standards. This
- 45:49Speaker 1: dude's so bent out of shape, uh that you slept
- 45:53Speaker 1: with guys at the hospital, but he's got a pregnant
- 45:56Speaker 1: lady yea in his back pocket and what I'm mean,
- 46:00Speaker 1: it's like, yep, come on now, you can't. You can't.
- 46:02Speaker 1: What's good for these exactly right, exactly, Heather. Did you
- 46:07Speaker 1: have fun working with our with our pal, the legendary
- 46:10Speaker 1: Johnny c McGinley, Because it looks like you guys had
- 46:12Speaker 1: great chemistry. He was so much fun and everybody talks
- 46:16Speaker 1: so fast on that show. I was like, oh my god,
- 46:19Speaker 1: here I am well I'm shotting her again. Um, but no,
- 46:21Speaker 1: I had a great time with him, and yeah, he
- 46:24Speaker 1: was very very fun. I really adored him. You guys
- 46:26Speaker 1: had such good chemistry together. You did. Thanks, you did.
- 46:30Speaker 1: You had a good you had a good Bansward. I'm
- 46:32Speaker 1: sure Johnny C was excited when Bill was like, oh,
- 46:34Speaker 1: in your love interest for the week is Heather Lucklear.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I don't think so. It was really fun. John C
- 46:44Speaker 1: McGinley was single at this moment too. He was like, yeah,
- 46:50Speaker 1: he did the Ralph Heather we were talking about. And
- 46:54Speaker 1: then the episode before this one, because you're in that
- 46:56Speaker 1: one too, about these pharmaceutical reps who were often attractive
- 47:01Speaker 1: women and they flirt with the doctors. Did you know
- 47:03Speaker 1: about this lunch? Yeah? Did you know? I did know
- 47:06Speaker 1: about it. I um. They were like, oh yeah, they
- 47:09Speaker 1: take all the doctors to lunch and they flirt with
- 47:11Speaker 1: them and give them all them you know, And yeah
- 47:13Speaker 1: I did. I was very well aware. But my favorite
- 47:16Speaker 1: line was anal leakage and the thing I got to say.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I loved saying anal I think I might be that
- 47:25Speaker 1: could be a good ring tone. Guy. Another one, another
- 47:28Speaker 1: one one Heather Lockley's saying anal leakage could be your notification. Um,
- 47:39Speaker 1: but yeah, so that but I did. I was aware
- 47:41Speaker 1: of that. Yeah, because we were talking about in the
- 47:43Speaker 1: last episode, how was such a thing where they they
- 47:46Speaker 1: they hired, they recruit these beautiful women who who doctors
- 47:49Speaker 1: are going to flirt with and go to dinner and
- 47:51Speaker 1: drinks with and uh and and we kept this going,
- 47:54Speaker 1: you know, you bring all this swag to the hospital
- 47:56Speaker 1: and the mug. Actually, if you see there's an earlier
- 47:58Speaker 1: scene in this where I'm holding I'm drinking coffee out
- 48:00Speaker 1: of a Plomox mug. That's the that's oh gosh. And
- 48:03Speaker 1: then I think donald didn't we keep it going for
- 48:05Speaker 1: like any shows up in the hospital, there was always
- 48:10Speaker 1: Plomox stuff all around because all your all the swag
- 48:14Speaker 1: you left stayed around for years. Now, here's something I wonder, Um,
- 48:18Speaker 1: you know they're always say beautiful women doing that, But
- 48:20Speaker 1: are there beautiful men doing it? Because there's female doctors.
- 48:23Speaker 1: That's a very good question. I think there are. I
- 48:25Speaker 1: think I'm sure there's. I had a handsome friend. I
- 48:28Speaker 1: had a handsome friend from high school who became one
- 48:31Speaker 1: of those guys. I definitely think they're they'd lean to
- 48:35Speaker 1: being good looking people because yeah, I don't know. I think,
- 48:38Speaker 1: I think again. I just remember knowing about this twenty
- 48:43Speaker 1: over twenty years ago because I knew girls who did
- 48:46Speaker 1: it and they were all very pretty and they and
- 48:47Speaker 1: they would tell me they were like, you won't believe
- 48:49Speaker 1: how fucked up this is, Like people don't know, people
- 48:51Speaker 1: don't remember a girl from my from my high school
- 48:53Speaker 1: telling me you don't. You can't believe the data we
- 48:56Speaker 1: have on these doctors, like the shit we know, we know,
- 48:59Speaker 1: we know, and they're prescribing it. What else they're prescribing
- 49:01Speaker 1: If they're not prescribing that, how many How it's compared
- 49:04Speaker 1: to last month, Um, when we gave them a big
- 49:07Speaker 1: incentive that trip. Look how much the graph showed how
- 49:10Speaker 1: much they prescribed it more. And I just can remember
- 49:13Speaker 1: I remember being like, this is so fucked up. And
- 49:15Speaker 1: then I thought it'd be like I thought it'd be
- 49:17Speaker 1: like discovered and over it's like payola back in the
- 49:19Speaker 1: day of the radio station days. And no it's still
- 49:22Speaker 1: going on. Um, that's still going on today, Like aren't
- 49:25Speaker 1: the doctors aware that this is happening? And there, Yeah,
- 49:27Speaker 1: but they want the trip and the pretty woman. I'm sure. Yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 1: I would love to go play golf with a pharmaceutical rep.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Get me out of the hospital for four hours, perfect,
- 49:38Speaker 1: all the yeah, and sometimes it's like a golf retreat.
- 49:41Speaker 1: All you have to do is go like watch the
- 49:43Speaker 1: Plumox video and then you're like on a golf retreat,
- 49:46Speaker 1: right yeah, yeah, um Donald, we have to let Heather
- 49:50Speaker 1: Lockleier go because we only asked her. Yes, listen, we
- 49:53Speaker 1: only we only recruited a legend for an hour, and
- 49:57Speaker 1: we can't. We can't keep her. You're funny, you are funny,
- 50:00Speaker 1: but how do we really want to because we really
- 50:04Speaker 1: are yours. We were both genuinely nervous, so I'm sorry
- 50:07Speaker 1: if we spoke fast and nervously. No, no, me too,
- 50:11Speaker 1: so I might with you. It was it was here
- 50:13Speaker 1: was a pleasure. But it was such a big deal
- 50:16Speaker 1: to have you on the show. When when uh when
- 50:19Speaker 1: this I remember when it happened and they were like,
- 50:21Speaker 1: we got Heather Lockleer and me being like, holy shit,
- 50:23Speaker 1: how do we get out of Lockleer because he had
- 50:25Speaker 1: a good show. Yeah, well, thank you very much. But
- 50:29Speaker 1: it was such a it was it was such an
- 50:31Speaker 1: amazing moment, amazing moment to have you on the show
- 50:34Speaker 1: and then still having an end also because we had
- 50:37Speaker 1: spent the summer together doing Uptown Girl. Yeah right, that
- 50:40Speaker 1: was crazy. It was really nice, and you know what,
- 50:42Speaker 1: it was such a joy for me to do because
- 50:44Speaker 1: it was so different from what I was doing. And
- 50:47Speaker 1: the writing is excellent, the show is great, and you
- 50:49Speaker 1: guys are great and et cetera, et cetera. Well, thank you.
- 50:52Speaker 1: How we really it's good to see you. Good to
- 50:55Speaker 1: see you. Do we have a caller? We do? We
- 51:01Speaker 1: do have a caller? Um um, We're gonna take them
- 51:05Speaker 1: right away. We have to go to break. What do
- 51:06Speaker 1: we do? Think I think we should go to break.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Let's just talk for one second about head of Lockdo
- 51:10Speaker 1: I have to admen? I was very nervous. I spoke fast.
- 51:13Speaker 1: I apologize to the audience. You have to understand I
- 51:17Speaker 1: had such a crush on her as as a young person,
- 51:20Speaker 1: and I I was tongue tied, Donald, I was tongue tied.
- 51:24Speaker 1: You did great. You know what I knew. I sensed
- 51:26Speaker 1: that you were a little nervous. I was making was
- 51:29Speaker 1: I was talking like that, but I sensed it, and
- 51:32Speaker 1: so I tried to throw you into a comfort zone
- 51:34Speaker 1: and just have you talk about you know, uh, garden State.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah that was good. Good Alley you yeah, yeah,
- 51:40Speaker 1: you got me. Yeah, I see what you did. You're
- 51:42Speaker 1: a good co host, you said. Zach's rambling nonsense. Why
- 51:46Speaker 1: don't I steer him to some subject he likes to
- 51:49Speaker 1: discuss directing films? Right exactly? I see, God, you're good.
- 51:53Speaker 1: It's just because I love you, fucking hell, I love you.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I want to do And on that note, we'll be
- 51:59Speaker 1: right back. How about Sarah calling a vagina a bijinga?
- 52:09Speaker 1: I had? Is this something that it goes on forever
- 52:12Speaker 1: it goes? No? But I'm saying, like, did they make
- 52:15Speaker 1: this up the scrubs writers? Because what that I've never
- 52:17Speaker 1: heard of vagina called a bajinga before. I've heard it
- 52:19Speaker 1: called so many things that it has. Somebody somewhere has
- 52:22Speaker 1: to call it a bigenga, like I've heard Nanni my
- 52:26Speaker 1: key key vertical smile, my right, my my my new
- 52:30Speaker 1: new my she she yeah, my bigengau, my vagina, my birdginer,
- 52:39Speaker 1: my birdginer yeah, Mgina yeah, vagina gin je Joel or
- 52:54Speaker 1: any jobel or any of those nicknames from vagina. I
- 52:56Speaker 1: don't know, we'll have to google it. I remember, I've
- 53:00Speaker 1: never heard. I've never heard before. It was crazy that
- 53:07Speaker 1: you gotta kind of put it like a different like.
- 53:09Speaker 1: I don't know where this accent would come from, but
- 53:11Speaker 1: it's sort of like a growlinan too much yang yang
- 53:18Speaker 1: too much, too much? Another another one, another one. Oh,
- 53:28Speaker 1: that's a fun game to play make up nonsense terms
- 53:31Speaker 1: for vagina. I'm glad we played. Well, you know we
- 53:35Speaker 1: are well listen, but jingo is bajingo. That's that becomes
- 53:38Speaker 1: Sarah's term for vagina. It's her go to. It's her
- 53:41Speaker 1: go to. Let's bring it our guest. Okay, but don't
- 53:44Speaker 1: mention any of the vagina terms around the gas. Dude,
- 53:46Speaker 1: I'm done. I'm done with it. Want to be appropriate? Hey,
- 53:52Speaker 1: Hilly and Shine? Who Shelley? Shelley is mom. So the
- 54:01Speaker 1: last time I used this, we um we were playing
- 54:05Speaker 1: categories with my boyfriend who's in England. But the day
- 54:08Speaker 1: to you, oh you, she took audience members. She took
- 54:14Speaker 1: a sip of a of what looks like an apple tine.
- 54:18Speaker 1: It looks like an appletinea. I don't think it's just
- 54:19Speaker 1: wearing water. She's wearing a han solo tank top. Donald. Yeah,
- 54:24Speaker 1: she knows the way to my heart. Yeah she does.
- 54:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna say something. I'm gonna say something real quick.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah ahead, Haley, you might just be the best guest
- 54:32Speaker 1: we've ever had ever. She's wearing that shirt. Can you
- 54:35Speaker 1: tell Donald where to get that shirt? Haley? Please? One
- 54:40Speaker 1: that's not gonna be Donald. You shopping Forever twenty one
- 54:44Speaker 1: Donald's Forever six. You know, I thought Forever twenty one
- 54:47Speaker 1: was the store that you went to when you were
- 54:48Speaker 1: twenty one. I thought that too, but I was not
- 54:52Speaker 1: twenty one when I bought it, So I thought Forever
- 54:54Speaker 1: twenty one meant that you wanted to look like a
- 54:57Speaker 1: twenty one year old. That's not It mean everything under
- 55:00Speaker 1: everything is twenty one dollars an under or something? Really, Yeah, Joel,
- 55:04Speaker 1: is that true? I think there's things for over. It's listen,
- 55:08Speaker 1: I will think it. You can buy have three dollars
- 55:10Speaker 1: and lager items were more expensive, but yeah, but you
- 55:15Speaker 1: can divide it and at the end you get twenty one, right,
- 55:18Speaker 1: something like that. This is oh my god, this is
- 55:21Speaker 1: a mind blowing moment for me because I, up to
- 55:24Speaker 1: this moment, thought the whole concept was let's say you're
- 55:27Speaker 1: a little bit older, but you miss feeling like a
- 55:29Speaker 1: little hip. You can go to Forever twenty one and
- 55:31Speaker 1: you're gonna look Forever twenty one. No, no, no, no, no,
- 55:35Speaker 1: it's it's it's you got a couple of You got
- 55:37Speaker 1: a couple of twenty ones in your pocket and five
- 55:44Speaker 1: dollars in your pocket. You can get five outfits from
- 55:47Speaker 1: Forever twenty one. Okay, I did that math quick. That
- 55:50Speaker 1: was quick. That's relatively good. Where are you calling from, Haley.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I'm in Sola Dad, California, at my mom's right now.
- 56:00Speaker 1: So this is where I've been all lockdown. Yeah, there
- 56:02Speaker 1: is Solo Dad. Where is Solo Dad? I don't know
- 56:04Speaker 1: where that is. Um, So it's near. It's about half
- 56:06Speaker 1: an hour south on the one on one of Monterey. Okay, okay,
- 56:11Speaker 1: So it's there's nothing here, there's nothing. You do? You
- 56:15Speaker 1: do you're gonna do? You're doing? What are you doing? Haley? Um?
- 56:21Speaker 1: Right now, I bide my time until I get to
- 56:24Speaker 1: go back to the UK. So that's where your boyfriend is.
- 56:29Speaker 1: And that's where your boyfriend is, So you want to
- 56:31Speaker 1: you want to get back to him? I do, yes, Haley,
- 56:34Speaker 1: You can go. You can go to the UK, Haley,
- 56:37Speaker 1: you just have to quarantine for two weeks on your own. Yeah. Yeah, Um,
- 56:41Speaker 1: well we're doing a visa right now, so we're working
- 56:44Speaker 1: on that. Oh I see and and um and are
- 56:47Speaker 1: you are you content to to be a transplant and
- 56:50Speaker 1: live there full time with your with your boyfriend? Yeah,
- 56:53Speaker 1: I'd love to be transplanted into that country, so stick
- 56:56Speaker 1: me there. I do love the UK, love it. We
- 57:00Speaker 1: love it too. I'm gonna be uh yeah, I'm gonna
- 57:02Speaker 1: be transplanting there myself. Wait what Yeah, you're gonna love
- 57:08Speaker 1: them to UK? Well, for part I'm I'm I'm I'm
- 57:11Speaker 1: dating a British woman and part time I will be
- 57:14Speaker 1: I'm spending I'm sure a percentage of my life there.
- 57:16Speaker 1: Don't get upset. I'm not moving there, Donald, I'm just
- 57:20Speaker 1: saying that if if, if I'm if one Hayley can attest,
- 57:24Speaker 1: if one is in a relationship with an English person,
- 57:27Speaker 1: you have to you have to go there sometimes, and
- 57:28Speaker 1: it's a delightful place to go. Hey, listen, they could
- 57:31Speaker 1: be from a country you don't want to visit. Hayley
- 57:34Speaker 1: and I are lucky that it's a country we both love,
- 57:37Speaker 1: and the food's not as bad as everyone says it is. Oh,
- 57:39Speaker 1: the food's wonderful. Give me you can give me mushy
- 57:42Speaker 1: peas any day of the week. Oh my god. Do
- 57:45Speaker 1: I like the bangers in Mash? You like the bangers
- 57:47Speaker 1: in Mash? I don't. I don't really eat pork, so
- 57:50Speaker 1: I eat the mash but not the bangers. I don't
- 57:53Speaker 1: understand why we don't have mushy peas in this country,
- 57:55Speaker 1: because it's as good. You can use my my pool
- 58:01Speaker 1: when I'm gone. Okay, cool, Haley. I'm gonna miss you.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Haley doesn't have to hear about this. We can negotiate
- 58:07Speaker 1: that off all right. Oh it's fine. Just make sure
- 58:10Speaker 1: all my rafts stay inflated, right anyway, Haley, Haley, do
- 58:16Speaker 1: you have a question for us? Please? Please? I do.
- 58:19Speaker 1: I had it on a piece of paper and I
- 58:20Speaker 1: left it in the other room. But don't get it. Okay. Um,
- 58:25Speaker 1: So this is my Fruit Cups. Yeah, yeah, yeah, which
- 58:28Speaker 1: is probably my favorite episode and I don't really know why.
- 58:32Speaker 1: It's just my favorite episode. It's the one I probably
- 58:35Speaker 1: quote the most, you know, like the Daily Users and
- 58:38Speaker 1: walks away right, um? And I love the music the
- 58:42Speaker 1: first scene. Whenever I used to where I worked, I
- 58:45Speaker 1: wouldn't occasionally had to take you know, a toilet paper
- 58:47Speaker 1: roll or two from work, and I'd occasionally be like,
- 58:50Speaker 1: or you steal stuff and take it back to work
- 58:53Speaker 1: or take it back home. Um, But I feel like
- 58:56Speaker 1: it's a pivotal point for all the characters. Doctor Cox
- 59:01Speaker 1: gets back together with Jordan, j D and Turk kind
- 59:04Speaker 1: of both realized that, you know, Turk's relationship with Carla
- 59:07Speaker 1: is really solidifying in this, and Elliott stands up to
- 59:10Speaker 1: her dad. So I was kind of wondering, at what
- 59:12Speaker 1: point in the series did you think that your characters
- 59:16Speaker 1: matured the most, or whether it was how you played
- 59:18Speaker 1: them or how it was written. All right, Hailey, look
- 59:21Speaker 1: at Donald's smug face. Does he said he say the
- 59:24Speaker 1: same thing? Yes? He No, he totally agrees with you.
- 59:27Speaker 1: He gave his thirty second summary and touched on everything
- 59:30Speaker 1: that you just said. And that's why he's got that
- 59:32Speaker 1: shit eating grin on his face. Why did they call
- 59:37Speaker 1: it a shitted ingrin? You wouldn't be grinny when you
- 59:40Speaker 1: were eating shit, would you, No? I would not be
- 59:42Speaker 1: smiling if I had to stick Dodo in my mouth
- 59:45Speaker 1: that would be like it would be like it would
- 59:48Speaker 1: be I get it. So it's not really a shittat ingrin.
- 59:50Speaker 1: It's the face you make but you're like, oh god,
- 59:53Speaker 1: growth and it looks like a smile, but really what
- 59:56Speaker 1: it is? Joel, are you looking around up for a
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: we need to know the origin of shit eating grin?
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: What though? Anyway? Anyway, um so Donald, your best to
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: answer that because you you you've already spoken about this price.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I think this is the episode where now when we
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: were filming it, No, I did not realize this because
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: none of us knew where the show was going to
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: go at this point. But you're absolutely right. Every story
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: that's told in this in this episode goes to the
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: end yea, each and every one of these stories. Elliot
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: standing up to her dad, this becomes her on her
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: own and having to make decisions on her own, and
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: we see how crazy life is for her when she
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: has to do that, right, She's a hectic person. Jude, Carla,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: and Turk go on to get married and have kids.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Cox and Jordan gone to have more children every one
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: of these and Jad's in limbo for the rest of
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: the season up until the last Forever in Limbo. That
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: could be the name of the show. Forever in Limbo
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: j season up until season eight, you are forever in Limbo.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: You are the dude who has no idea. We don't
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: know where you're gonna go. But at this point, if
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you were to look back after doing the whole show,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: this would be the episode my fruit Cups where you're like,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: this is where they gave us a taste of what
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: was to come. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't see that, to
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: be honest, I was just kind of in more of
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: a micro viewing of it, laughing at the jokes. There
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: was some. There's some one like you keep saying beday
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: bidet to you, sir, the mention of Beijingo. There's some.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: There's a few classic sort of moments in here. Um
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Laverne in the beginning when she's like you look pretty right,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Jes the pills and right, Jim. It's the first appearance
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: of the Volvo. I believe Donald, do you know that?
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Don't don't ruin it, Hailey, because you probably know Donald.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Do you know the name of the brown Volvo? No Malik.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: We named the Vovo malik Ya. I named my Vovo Malik. Yeah. Wow.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: And then you named just it might be my vovo.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I don't know. Why did you name your brown Bobo Malik?
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I have a feeling, I have a feeling. Yeah, I
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: think tur named the car because I definitely I definitely
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: named my scooter Sasha. Yeah. Sure, sure you know. Remember
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: I I post a picture of me on on anything
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: two wheels. People were like, is that new Sasha? I like,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: post a picture of my motorcycle, and I'm like, oh,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Sasha got an upgrade. There was that time that you
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: brought me that scooter and it was gray. He didn't
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: even wear it, didn't even drive it once I did
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: drive it around. You named it? What are you talking about? Oh?
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: You named it Sasha Gray? Yeah? And then back, Well,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: let's tell the audience the true story of this, because
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: it really it was hurtful to me. No, I had
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: to Here's the thing it don't do as I'm gonna
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: be one hundred percent on. So for my birthday, Zach
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: buys me a scooter, a great scooter named I named
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: her Sasha Gray. Sure. Sure, let's keep let's keep a
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Hailey innocent of any absolute knowledge, right. And the problem
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: with it was, though, is that you had to have
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: a motorcycle license to drive it. It wasn't one of
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: those things where you could just it wasn't a scooter
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: that was uh slow enough that you could ride around
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: on it and not have to have a license. So
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: if I would have got pulled over, they automatically would
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: have been like, let me see your license. I'd be like,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I don't have a license, and then they confiscate Sasha
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Gray and then I'd never see her again. All right now,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: from my point of view, Haley, imagine you're my really
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: good friend and it's a big birthday. I think it
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: was a meaningful, important birthday, and I was like, I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: want to do something like baller for you. I'm gonna like,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna ring your doorbell, Haley,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: and when you come outside, there's gonna be a brand new, beautiful, expensive,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: shiny scooter there for you. Yeah. It was one of
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: the best birthday presents ever. And then and then and
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: then for years and years and years, I'd be like,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: do you ever use the good And he'd be like, oh,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: my motorcycle license, my motor and I'd be like, oh, okay,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: well you're gonna get that right, You can get that.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Just go go take the test real quick, you and
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: he'd be like, oh, yeah, yeah, the battery's dead now,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I know. Yeah, there was always a reason. There was
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: always a real scooter around my neighborhood quite a few times. Bullshit, Haley,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: you know what I finally did you want gonna go
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: get Casey? I reclaimed that shit, Haley, I was like
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: taking her. That ship was straight up out of a
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: jay Z song. Yeah. I rolled up, I rolled up
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: and took it back. At a protest, they repo Javi Cole.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Everything was all good just a week ago. That's what
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: you did. You rewed the vehicle. I took Sasha Gray
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: away from you. You did, and it hurt my feelings. Yeah,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I understand. Um. Anyway, Sorry we had to air that
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: in front of you, Hailey. Do you have another question
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: for Donald Phazon or I guess um, I have a
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: funny story that relates to Zach what you were talking
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: about a few episodes ago with the Temple of Doom. Yeah,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I have a funny I can ask my question or
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: I can relate another silly story story serious story and
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: if it's and if it's not funny, we'll let you.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: You can edit it out. We edited out everything. No one. Um. So,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: when I was maybe about eight nine ten m I
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: noticed that were you eight nine or ten in between there?
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I don't really remember you were. I was an adolescent
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: right about it. But I had noticed that there was
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: something kind of growing on my throat area, and I
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: went up to my dad, who's a doctor, and I
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: was like, Dad, look, I have an Adam's apple. Because
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I was a child, I didn't know that that was
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: not a girl thing to have, right, Well, that's not normal.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: So we went to go get it checked out and
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: I had to get something removed that was growing on
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: my vocal cords, and it was as a child, surgery
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: is kind of scary. So after we had done the
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: surgery and I was staying overnight, UM, my dad was like, oh,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: we have some movies that are at the hospital. Here,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: we'll watch this one. And it was Indiana Jones Temple
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: of Do And right when it gets to the part,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: you know, and he's ripping out the heart, I just
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: immediately started bawling. Yeah, yeah, that's why exactly. My mom
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: came the next day. He's like, yeah, she had this
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: really bad reaction to the movie and She's like, well,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: of course she did. They were pipping out somebody's heart. Yeah,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: and I don't think I watched it for at least
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: another ten years, and then I watched it again and
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I was like, this isn't that bad. But Haley, but Haley,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Haley and I were scarred by this film. Are Yeah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: our parents made bad choices. How can you be upset
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: at that movie? I had a whole birthday revolved around
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Indiana Jones later, not Temple of Doom, the first one. Mainly.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Raiders in a low stark is just as scary when
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: they opened the Ark of the Covenant and it makes
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: the dude's face smut. No, I had no problem with that.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: There was something about there was something about there was
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: a man that screams like a blood curdling scream. He's like,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: screams like that. I backed up from the mic. You're welcome,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: You're welcome. You're welcome America, America, UK, Germany, Italy, Australia.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: But you listen, Australia, You're welcome. Another one, another one, listen.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: A lot of people are asking I don't mean to
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: cut you up, but a lot of people are asking me.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: And this is I feel we need to explain this.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: We didn't make up another one. Oh yeah, I didn't.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I just thought everyone would know the pop culture thing
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: of another. No, DJ k Yes, DJ Khalid. College's college?
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: Isn't it college? Depending? You know, some people say college,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: some people say college. Dan, you're a DJ, what is it? Well,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: there's there's Khalid, the artist who made talk um. And
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: then I thought it was DJ Khaled with it more
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: like I thought too Yeah, yeah, okay, Jay Kalid DJ
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Khaled when he drops his latest tracks, he will in
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: the spirit of Puffy back in the day, going ahead
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: or can't stop, won't stop? Yeah, his his thing is
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: a number one, Like, here's another hit song for you guys.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: He has another one. There's that, and then there's major key,
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: and then there's way the best. Major key means what
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: if the song isn't a major key. I don't know
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: what major key is. That's a question to ask scrubs Wicky.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Now we're gonna go to no. Now we're gonna go
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: to no. Imagine, imagine we have we have, we have
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: asked DJ Khalid, and now we're gonna gonna ask DJ Khaled.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Um mean by major key? Another one? Um? Joe, did
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: you ever find out what shit eating grin was about? Yeah,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: there's a couple of stories you want to hear. Yeah
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: please sure? Okay? Um, So, my favorite one comes from
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: RB Smith. He's from the UCSD Astrophysics program, and this
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: is off with the San Diego reader dot com. He
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: says the original form of this phrase was grinning like
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: a possum eating shit, which was occasionally euphemized to grinning
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: like a possum eating pumpkin seeds. To those are us
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: fortunate enough to have observed this teeth together, lips apart,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: smile on the face of the aforementioned marsupial munching on
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: the aforementioned sectological delegacy. He's smart. The expression conjures up
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: a very explicit and not infrequently very apropro image, So
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: that's part of it. Did he say scatological delicacy? Yes,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: those are not two words I've ever heard together. It
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: was not fun to say that name of my band,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I m so. So it's referring to an animal who's
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: eating shit. It has a big smile on his face
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: because the animal likes eating shit. But it's not really shit.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: It's actually pumpkin pumpkin. No, no, no, no, that's like
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: a clean version. Yeah, when if you're saying it in
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: front of a kid, you're like, oh, he's like he's
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: eating pumpkin. Look at that pumpkin seed eating grin on
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: his face. Yeah, I'm gonna start saying pumpkin seeding grin
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: instead of shit eating grin. Um, Haley, Um, we like
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you so much. We're gonna end with one more question
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: from you, all right, Um. If so, I don't know
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: if you guys remember, because I know you guys have
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: been saying that you don't remember um some of the episodes.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: But if there was one line that another character had
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: that you wish you could have had to say, what
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: do you remember? Which one? It was? Good question? M
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: m m m m m m No. I like in
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: your Endough, that's I say that a lot as well.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: I say that a lot. I think i'd take sometimes
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: when I'm banging this mattress, I pretend I'm banging that
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: one something Todd said. The Todd says, Um, I also
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: like Niel's line, my good Lord didn't bless my wife
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: with another pointer pointer in thumb pinky nine French nine
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: French is very popular yeah, you know, for you know, uh,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I want to be the one inside of you. I
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: thought that was very funny too, But I said that
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: you said that, so you didn't really answer. You're the
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: only man who's ever been inside of me. Whoa, I
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: just took out his appendix. There's no mean to clarify.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Oh no, okay, sum Hayley. Thank you so much for
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: coming on. Good luck getting to be with your your
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: fella in the in the United Kingdom. Perhaps perhaps I'll
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: see you over there after we've both the quarantined and
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: most likely you won't be nice. Donald. This is called pleasantries. Donald,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I will wave to you. I will. I'm about the train.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: It's not a train, it's called the tube. There are trains.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: The tube is only in London. Yeah, Donald, don't listen,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: don't know. I'm in Newcastle. So I'm in like the
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: north north of London. Oh it's we ritzy. No, it's
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: not rit ritzy. London is London is the hood if
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: you ask me, Yo, tonight on Donald talks about different
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: neighborhoods of London. All right, bye, Hailey, thank you so much,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: thank you so much, thank you, guys. I saw Lisa
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Marie Pressley in London. Really yeah, like at a show.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: She did a show. It was like, my buddy was like,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Lisa Marie Pressley is performing, you know. Um, first one,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: I'm glad we're all finally alone now because I feel
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: like we had to be great for Heather, and then
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: we had to host Hayley, who was delightful. But sometimes
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: you just want to just curl up on the couch
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: with your friends and and just shoot the ship, you know. No,
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: I totally agree. Yeah, so let's just let's relax. I'm
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: gonna top up my pants and just I'm gonna kick
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: my shoes off. Let's pack a bowl and let's just
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: fucking relax now. No more house guests, no more visitors. Okay,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: just us. Let's get feedle on the couch and watch alone.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Um now Donald Show, ladies and gentle. No, no, no, no,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: it's not we got more to do. Don't crystals back
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: on the Christa Miller's back looking gorgeous and pregnant and pregnant.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Is that William in her belly? That must be will
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: in her belly? Yes, that's amazing. What I told Casey
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: that she was like, holy cow, it was this was
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: that long ago because William is a what is he
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: a senior in high school? Now? Yea, he must people
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: and he dunked. He can dunk, and he plays basketball
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: and he got the game. Yeah, you guys are seeing
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: him in this episode in utero and now he dunks.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: If you want to see him do it, you can
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: go to Bill Lawrence's Yeah, Bill Lawrence on him on
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Bill Lawrences Vduzer v Duzer's Instagram and you can see
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: his son dunk. How about a ten thirteen when I
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: go I told her you smoked the angel. Yeah, that
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: was improvd that wasn't something really that was improved. I
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: remember it was something else originally, and uh, that was funny. Yeah.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: I remember laughing so hard when you said that too,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: and I remember thinking that'll never make this episode. That
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: will never make the shit because we weren't allowed to
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: talk about weed back then. It was so scandalous. Now,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I want to know something you're you're I read on
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: scrubs Wiki that your Brady Bunch trivia here is wrong. Um,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I don't know not about Listen. I don't know nothing
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: about the Brady Bunch in the first place, so I
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: don't Okay, Well, Turk Turk is quite wrong here, and
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: I'll tell you why. I can't back it up though,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: because I don't no shit about the Brady Bunch. I'm
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: just telling you so you know if it ever comes
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: up again in your life. When Turk tries to prove
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: his knowledge of the Brady Bunch by describing exactly which
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: episode JD is referring to, he's incorrect. He claims the
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: episode quote Marcia gets creamed, and quote was in by
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: the way, you could never name a show that today
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: was in seasons was in season five, episode three, while
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: it was actually episode seven that season. So somebody fucked up.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: We can blame Whee who wrote this. Janee, you fucked up, okay,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: and you're a north Western grad. I expected more from you.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: I really got a hand it to Christopher in this episode,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: you know, making fun of herself and you know, making
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: fun of the fact that she's pregnant and being so vulnerable.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: She did such a great job, and the scene in
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: the bathroom where she's crying, you know, and I felt
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: very raw and real. Yeah it did, you know. And
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I remember when my wife was and there were days
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: where she didn't necessarily feel like you know, she was
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: the sexiest person on the planet. And I remember just thinking, Wow,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: she's so beautiful. She's so beautiful, And I feel like
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: that's what Cox was going through in this episode, you know,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: regardless of him dating how the Lockeleyest character and everything
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: like that, there's something special about when you see somebody
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: who you love and they're carrying your baby inside of them,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: that you just think that the most beautiful human on
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: the planet. Like I just I just remember looking at
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Casey and being like, holy shit, she's so beautiful. And
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: she and she'd be like I got three chins, and
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: I'd be like, I don't give a shit. You could
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: have twenty chin. You looked so beautiful. I love all
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: three of them, right, you know what I mean? Well,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: I bet you know christ is a really good actress.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: But I also bet that you know she was legit pregnant,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: and I'm sure that she could call upon those feelings
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: when she's sitting on the bathroom floor feeling, you know,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: undesired by by doctor Cox. I thought that was a
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: really nice scene between the two of them. Yeah, and
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: it was a good fake out too. Yeah, that was
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: clever how they had to do that. So Johnny C
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: grabs two things whiskey. Heather's on the couch. By the
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: time he comes around, it's been changed to Krista and
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: she's like, you know, I can't drink that, right. He's like, yeah,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: they're both for me. Yeah, I love that. Yeah. Now,
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: this we've we've said it a couple of times, but
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: this is one of the greatest lines in Scrub's history.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: In this episode thirteen o nine, I have one of
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: those French things that shoots water up my butt. But
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: day the day to use her, however, I said, but Day,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: that was very clever. Heather has a line that's funny
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: when she disses Kristen. She says, anywhere anybody looks, they'll
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: see that was fucked up. And how about when I
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: scare you in the ambulance and you scream? That was funny? Yeah,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: and yeah, I was gonna say, dude, such a good scene. Man,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: that's one of those moments. You know, you we've worked
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: together for a really long time, and you have and
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: and I've seen I feel like i've seen most of
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: your tricks. You've developed some new tricks that I haven't
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: seen in the last ten years because you've gone on
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: to work on other things and everything like that, but
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: this is one of those. But this is one of
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: the first times where we had done a season of
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: of Scrubs together already, and I hadn't seen you play
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: this this this side before where it was like you
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: were you were thinking, you you're really thinking about it
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: in the scene and it disturbs you, but it doesn't
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: disturb you to where you're like kind of fucked up
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: about it, but it's just like, holy shit, life's changing
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: for us. And I had never seen you played that before.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: And I remember watching this because I watched it like
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: two two hours ago and thinking, if I remember correctly,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: I remember Zach not knowing how he wanted to play
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: this scene, and we worked on this on his side
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: for a bit and this is what he came up with,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: and it works so well, dude, it works. It's like
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: it's it's one of those moments where you know you're
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: in awe of the moment as an actor, but you're
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: also you want to keep it grounded, like so she said,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: she said, you said we No, she said we you
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: know what I mean. And that could have been played
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: so many other ways, it could have been underplayed, but
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: you played it very thoughtfully, and I thought that was
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: so amazing. Thank you, thank you for saying that. I,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: you know, it's on this show. It was always you
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: and I so easily went into the silly stuff, right
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: because that's just that's who we are and that came
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: naturally to us. But then there's always these great moments
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: in the scene is one of them where we have
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: this sort of heart to heart where we would have
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: to shift our brains a bit and be like no, no, no,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: go out of broad silliness and like drop in and
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: be just totally real and straight with one another. And
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: I think that's one of the things that made this
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: special to a lot of people because because it had
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: it had the ability to do that, it had the
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: ability to drop in and be real. Yeah, you know,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: and and and and that's I mean, yeah, obviously that's
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: the reason why we ran for so long. But that's
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: such a special thing man to to for me now,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: to go back and look at the things that we
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: did in our past and the things that you know,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: it's a lot like what this episode is about, you know,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: just to look at, you know, moments that we had
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: back in the day and really appreciating them. You know, Uh,
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: I miss the camaraderie that we had. I don't think
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: i'll ever in my life experience what we experienced when
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: we were making this show again. And you know, you
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: search for it and you try to create it with
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: other people, and sometimes you even fake it. But you know,
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: we were also young, but we were also young. And
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, yeah, of course nine year
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: runs on a show with great people, it's not something
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: that happens multiple times in a lifetime, necessarily, But also
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: we were young and so wide eyed and so um
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: excited and really savoring it, I think. And now you know,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: you have a family, you know, we all have grown up.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: We've got other things going on. I didn't even know
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: that we would. I don't even know if it's recreatable
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: in a new environment, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I I I can't imagine myself like I can't imagine
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: myself spending the amount of time that we've spent together
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: with someone else, now, you know, other than my wife.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: And the hours too, man, I also don't want to
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: work that hard. I don't mind working those hours when
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: I love I love working. I love working. But when
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: I look at this show and how much how we were,
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: We were just non existent. Well, you worked a lot
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: about there were times where you just didn't do but
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: I just didn't leave. There there were times where I
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: thought about sleeping in that fucking hospital. Yeah no, not me,
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: but I never did. Um Listen. The rooftop that ends
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: this show, wasn't it Downtown La? I don't know. I
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: would like to believe that it was. It could have
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: been Joseph's. No it wasn't it was. It could have
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: fancy rooftop, and I believe it. We went down Town
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: LA for it and then but scrubs Wiki is saying
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: that it was at UCLA, and I think it might
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: be wrong. And they're saying it's the the roof of
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: COPD give this and we kinda give this to freaking
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: funcos Man. No, listen, he deserves funcos for the services
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: he's already performed. They've given us false. False. It's false though, man,
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: that definitely where at UCLA? Was that? He says? Well,
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: Wiki or it's s just him, him and his thousand
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: minions say couple commons, but that would be Westwood and
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: that's not Westwood. And the end of the show, right, Dan,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: you want to ask Bill. Do you think Bill would remember? Remember?
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Let's ask DJ dj Khaled at the end of this episode, um,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: what what building are we on? I believe it was
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Downtown Summer saying it's a UCLA property, which is Westwood.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on this, Zach major Key, I
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: got nothing. I don't I really honestly don't even have
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: a DJ Khalid impersonation in my repertoire. If you watch
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: Scrubs on Hulu, they play a DJ Khaled commercial about
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: him brush somebody brushing their teeth, and DJ Kaled's like
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: circular motions. Do another one? What if I another one?
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: What if I do DJ Khaled? But as an as
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: a as an impersonation that I'm good at. So you
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: just have to use the audience. We'll just have to
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: pretend this is how he talks ahead. He talks like
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Aaron Neville. I don't remember who where you got shot
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: that scene? But I don't think it was you don't
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: see him. It was downtown LA. That's how djal talks someone. Mind?
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: Oh right now, did Aaron Neville die? I don't know,
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: but he's rolling over it right right? Why is he
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: rolling over in his grave? He's alive. Well that's something
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Charles Barkley says. Oh, um, dj kal it is Aaron
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Neville dead. No, he's very much laugh We should probably
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: show great show listeners, we love you. Why is the
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: janitor stealing a computer? He goes the whole the whole episode.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: He's trying to figure out who's stealing all of these
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I think the reveal is that he's the one stealing
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: everything out of the hospital. Right. Well, no, he didn't
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: steal the drugs and he definitely didn't steal the pudding
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: pops because we did the pudding. Because we did right. Hey, guys,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: we had a great time with you today. Yes, sorry
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: um um for anything that went Yeah, we want to
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: thank Heatha Locklear for being on the show. I want
