- 0:00Speaker 1: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 0:02Speaker 1: corona with lime that makes the roar of the crowd
- 0:05Speaker 1: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 0:07Speaker 2: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 0:09Speaker 2: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 0:13Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 0:16Speaker 1: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 0:19Speaker 1: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold corona.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 0:25Speaker 2: So find your seat, your corona, and your lime. Because
- 0:29Speaker 2: real fans know the only thing better than nine innings
- 0:32Speaker 2: is extra innings, especially on La Playa.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Corona.

- 1:00Speaker 4: Back toward the wall.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It is over.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Off the batter's eye.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Out to Asford Alley.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Kyle Schwarber has just completed an improbable comeback. A two-run
- 1:14Speaker 1: game-winning home run.
- 1:17Speaker 3: The Phillies down 4-0.
- 1:20Speaker 4: They win it 6-4. It's the first walk-off home run
- 1:25Speaker 4: in more than three years. Kyle Schwarber, our guy, friend
- 1:30Speaker 4: of the program.
- 1:33Speaker 3: We're still doing the Loveable Reunion, bro. We're still doing it.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Let's go, Schwarz.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Hey, can you believe that the Phillies haven't had a
- 1:40Speaker 4: walk-off home run in three years? That's, I was... blown
- 1:43Speaker 4: away when I heard that.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Me too.
- 1:45Speaker 4: You see walk-off home runs every other day, but, man,
- 1:48Speaker 4: what a moment there in Philly. They're down 4-0 going
- 1:52Speaker 4: into the ninth, all with two outs, scored all six
- 1:55Speaker 4: runs with two outs, and then Schwarber with the iconic
- 1:58Speaker 4: pose there. I mean, bro, he's on another level, Rossi.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Bro, that place loves him. They go crazy.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And you just start– it's like there's certain guys in
- 2:08Speaker 1: the league that when they come– to hit they come
- 2:11Speaker 1: to hit especially in big moments they're gonna you know
- 2:14Speaker 1: they're gonna come through you just feel it and Schwab
- 2:16Speaker 1: is is in a leading all of baseball with home
- 2:19Speaker 1: runs the dude is just the the you know he's
- 2:23Speaker 1: the slugger of our time right now uh he's rolling
- 2:25Speaker 1: especially with like judgy out uh it's fun it's fun
- 2:28Speaker 1: to watch him but it's amazing I I go back
- 2:32Speaker 1: to like catching and you've got two outs, you're like, Oh,
- 2:34Speaker 1: they'll hit it at somebody.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:35Speaker 3: There's two outs.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Just keep putting heaters down, heaters in, heaters out. And
- 2:41Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, you know, that butthole gets
- 2:43Speaker 1: tight a little bit. And then Schwartz comes through.
- 2:47Speaker 3: That was, that was amazing.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Happy for him.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Good job.
- 2:50Speaker 4: I texted him yesterday and I go, you're my favorite player.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I go, that was amazing. And he's just like, I
- 2:55Speaker 4: can't believe we fucking won that game. Right. And even
- 2:58Speaker 4: that's the beauty of Schwartz. Even as a player, you're just,
- 3:01Speaker 4: After those games, you just sit back in the clubhouse
- 3:04Speaker 4: with the boys and you're like, wow, can you believe
- 3:05Speaker 4: we just did that? Those are the defining moments in
- 3:08Speaker 4: the season where you look back and you're like, that
- 3:10Speaker 4: was a big moment for us. That was a big
- 3:12Speaker 4: confidence builder.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I feel like those wins, when you have those throughout
- 3:15Speaker 1: the season, those are the ones that get you into
- 3:17Speaker 1: the postseason.
- 3:18Speaker 3: You're never out of a game. You never stop fighting.
- 3:21Speaker 1: When you have those comeback wins like that, the guys
- 3:23Speaker 1: just keep throwing A-Bs on there.
- 3:25Speaker 3: And the Phillies have been rolling, man.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Rolling.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I don't know if he gave them some good juju
- 3:29Speaker 1: at the Field of Dreams, but forward for a couple
- 3:33Speaker 1: homers there.
- 3:34Speaker 3: And they've been, I mean, their offense.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Nine and one in their last ten.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I mean, they're now three and a half back from
- 3:41Speaker 4: the Braves. It seemed like last week it was a
- 3:44Speaker 4: long shot that they can catch the Braves. They're three
- 3:46Speaker 4: and a half back. They play the Braves seven times
- 3:48Speaker 4: in September.
- 3:50Speaker 3: That's got to be nice.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I mean, bro, that Luisa rise comes in. They're not
- 3:54Speaker 4: striking out as much. They're putting the ball in play more.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Harper is rolling. Harper's having a very underrated season. He's
- 4:01Speaker 4: just kind of going kind of just under the radar
- 4:04Speaker 4: the whole year. He's going to have 30 pumps. He's
- 4:06Speaker 4: a 900 OPS. So, I mean, this team is something.
- 4:10Speaker 4: They lost last night. Shout out to Cal Raleigh with
- 4:13Speaker 4: the three home runs. Hopefully he gets rolling for the Mariners. But, man,
- 4:17Speaker 4: the Phillies, man, they got in a three-game series. They
- 4:21Speaker 4: are going to be tough.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Well, where are you going, right?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Like, with the rise and the contact that they added,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and then Harper leads all of baseball and walks.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Like, he's not, he's like, you know what, we're deep.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Guys like Alec Baum, who struggled in the first half,
- 4:36Speaker 1: you know, he's getting on base, Stott's getting on base.
- 4:38Speaker 1: When you have a lineup that's controlling the strike zone
- 4:41Speaker 1: like they are right now, and dudes are turning it.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Over, and you're going to have to come see somebody.
- 4:46Speaker 1: In that Phillies ballpark and at that citizens bank, it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: we're at the bank and the, the lineup is deep.
- 4:53Speaker 3: It's a tough, it's a tough row for the, for
- 4:55Speaker 3: the opposing pitcher. Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Right now it's lined up for a Cubs Phillies in
- 5:00Speaker 4: the wildcard. That's going to be, that would be epic.
- 5:02Speaker 4: If that happened, that'd be fun to watch at Wrigley too.
- 5:05Speaker 4: So Cubs are rolling. That leads us to another episode,
- 5:09Speaker 4: Rossi of Ross and Rizzo unfiltered. We are back. rossi
- 5:14Speaker 4: is in pebble beach.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you live from yeah no big deal
- 5:19Speaker 1: my bad.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Wow are you kidding me well how's it going how's
- 5:22Speaker 4: your golf game yesterday.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I played okay yesterday we played spy class not that
- 5:27Speaker 1: it's about me but let me talk about me i
- 5:28Speaker 1: got to play with some country music buddies and a
- 5:31Speaker 1: comedian jeff die uh brett young chase rice like we
- 5:35Speaker 1: had a just a heck of a time yesterday playing
- 5:38Speaker 1: and then we got pebble uh this morning when i
- 5:40Speaker 1: get off here with you so Uh, excited. It's for
- 5:43Speaker 1: a good cause. Um, you know, doing some chair, you know,
- 5:46Speaker 1: my charity work in the off season, but, uh, or
- 5:48Speaker 1: in season, I guess. Uh, but you know about that,
- 5:51Speaker 1: having a blast. What have you been up to?
- 5:54Speaker 4: I did the red Sox giants game, uh, last this Sunday,
- 5:59Speaker 4: which was fun. I'm in New York. Now I go
- 6:02Speaker 4: to Chicago this weekend, got the reds and Johnny Lester's, uh, reds,
- 6:07Speaker 4: Johnny Lester's retirement Rossi. I don't know if you saw this,
- 6:10Speaker 4: but The Cubs did a top 150 team. Unfortunately, you
- 6:15Speaker 4: did not make it. Fortunately, I did make it. Wrigley
- 6:22Speaker 4: celebrating 150 years of baseball at Wrigley. It's a pretty
- 6:26Speaker 4: big honor to make that team, especially with all the
- 6:29Speaker 4: people who have played in Chicago. But it's going to
- 6:31Speaker 4: be a good weekend. They're doing a ceremony on Saturday,
- 6:34Speaker 4: doing some dinner on Friday with friends and family. And
- 6:37Speaker 4: then the game Sunday. The game Sunday is going to
- 6:39Speaker 4: be fun. I'm actually in the booth for the first time.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Nice.
- 6:43Speaker 4: I'm going to have to pick your brain on that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Maybe we'll get you on here to maybe hopefully you say,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I can't believe I said that on TV or something.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Hopefully it's not just me this whole time.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Jason Benetti teased me up nicely. But being in the booth,
- 6:58Speaker 4: that'll be fun. And then Joey Votto is inside the pitch.
- 7:01Speaker 4: So the banter back and forth. between us two. I'm
- 7:05Speaker 4: looking forward to talking to Joe.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah. That'll be fun. That'll be fun. Hey, congrats on that. The, the,
- 7:12Speaker 3: the making that team.
- 7:14Speaker 1: That's if I would have been on that team, we
- 7:16Speaker 1: would have had to check whoever made that thing out.
- 7:18Speaker 3: We would have, we would have had to, we would
- 7:19Speaker 3: have had to do.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Some background, but that's awesome, man. That's all I'm going
- 7:24Speaker 1: to be there to celebrate Johnny Lester. I wish I
- 7:26Speaker 1: could make it. I've got some, I got my, my daughter.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'm going to see her play Troy this weekend for volleyball.
- 7:32Speaker 1: So I'm pumped about that.
- 7:32Speaker 3: And I got Harper.
- 7:34Speaker 1: My, uh, my little one turns 11 tomorrow. So I'm going,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I got a little birthday party at the house.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 7:40Speaker 4: There we go.
- 7:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Wow. Sleepover.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:43Speaker 3: So pray for me. Pray for me. Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 3: It'd be good.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Are you flying?
- 7:48Speaker 1: I fly tomorrow, tomorrow. I'm going to fly out tomorrow.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And then I've got to host the birthday party at
- 7:53Speaker 1: my house on Friday. A little water slide, a little pizza.
- 7:55Speaker 1: We'll do the whole thing, you know, uh, pick them
- 7:57Speaker 1: up all from school, load them down.
- 7:59Speaker 3: And let them party. So you had the Rafi Devers moment.
- 8:04Speaker 3: What was that like? Rafi Devers first came back at Fenway. Yeah, well,
- 8:09Speaker 3: I had.
- 8:09Speaker 4: The Sunday game, so I didn't see Friday, but the
- 8:13Speaker 4: boos were steady on Sunday as well. I mean, I
- 8:17Speaker 4: said this on air. When you have a passionate fan
- 8:20Speaker 4: base with Boston, it doesn't surprise me that they booed
- 8:23Speaker 4: Rafi with the superstar that he was and the terms
- 8:26Speaker 4: he left on. It doesn't surprise me that he got
- 8:29Speaker 4: all the boos all weekend. But what he did there
- 8:32Speaker 4: when he was at the Red Sox, you know, he
- 8:34Speaker 4: posted every day. I respected him from afar. He won
- 8:37Speaker 4: a World Series championship. I mean, at the end of
- 8:40Speaker 4: the day, he felt like he was miscommunicated with by
- 8:43Speaker 4: Craig Breslow and the Red Sox front office. And they
- 8:46Speaker 4: trade him away. And he seems to be pretty happy
- 8:48Speaker 4: in San Francisco. But the Red Sox are on one
- 8:51Speaker 4: end of the spectrum and the Giants are on the
- 8:53Speaker 4: other end of the spectrum right now. The Red Sox
- 8:54Speaker 4: are rolling. The Giants are on pace to lose a
- 8:57Speaker 4: lot of games. So, um, but yeah, it was, uh,
- 9:01Speaker 4: it was fun being there. It was fun being in
- 9:03Speaker 4: that action, being at Fenway, seeing the, the role that
- 9:06Speaker 4: the Red Sox, man, that team is real.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Well, and you know, as well as I do, like
- 9:11Speaker 1: there's something about going back to the team that, uh,
- 9:14Speaker 1: even when you leave on good terms, like I grew
- 9:16Speaker 1: up a Braves fan and played for Atlanta for four years,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but when you go back, you want to beat the team.
- 9:21Speaker 3: You left. It doesn't matter.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Oh, no doubt.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You definitely want to do it.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I mean, they lost on Friday. They lost on Friday,
- 9:27Speaker 4: and he hit the homer. He hit the homer.
- 9:29Speaker 3: That had to feel good.
- 9:29Speaker 4: The homer had to feel good.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I said the Red Sox messed up. They should have
- 9:34Speaker 4: just played it. If they wanted the fans to cheer,
- 9:36Speaker 4: they should have just played the Rafi Devers compilation video
- 9:39Speaker 4: of him hitting all of his home runs off Garrett Cole. Right? Yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 4: give him some love. Yeah, and then just a quick
- 9:46Speaker 4: montage of them winning the World Series. But I feel like,
- 9:49Speaker 4: I mean, even in the ninth inning there, when the
- 9:52Speaker 4: Red Sox were about to win, you have– Here's the
- 9:55Speaker 4: home run here. I mean, the pose there, I've seen
- 9:57Speaker 4: that pose so many times playing against him. even in
- 10:02Speaker 4: the ninth inning when the Red Sox were about to
- 10:04Speaker 4: win and sweep you hear the Red Sox fans screaming
- 10:07Speaker 4: Yankees suck Yankees suck.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So that's so great well they've got some games coming
- 10:14Speaker 1: up that'll be a nice little back and forth.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Yeah this weekend They have a big set this weekend.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Four games in three days, doubleheader on Saturday. I mean,
- 10:27Speaker 4: the Red Sox are real, man. I can't praise Chad
- 10:31Speaker 4: Tracy enough. I've got to interview him a few times
- 10:35Speaker 4: now being there at NBC. And I was really excited
- 10:38Speaker 4: to see how he would be now compared to when
- 10:40Speaker 4: he first got the job because when he first got
- 10:42Speaker 4: the job, it was a shit show there. And man,
- 10:46Speaker 4: he's just steady Eddie impressive. I don't know if you
- 10:49Speaker 4: know him at all, but it's in the blood. It's
- 10:52Speaker 4: in the family. His dad was a big league manager.
- 10:54Speaker 3: So his dad was my manager when I broke into
- 10:57Speaker 3: the big leagues.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Jim was. Yeah.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah. So, uh, back in the dinosaur days, I know
- 11:02Speaker 1: you've got a, you got a joke right around the
- 11:03Speaker 1: court for that, but, um, he, uh, his dad was amazing.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Dad's one of those really smart baseball guy back in
- 11:10Speaker 1: the national league. And, We had, you know, Sean Green,
- 11:13Speaker 1: Dave Roberts, Ron Ventura. We had a really good team
- 11:16Speaker 1: and made the playoffs. But his dad was really baseball savvy.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I talked to him a little bit about that. He
- 11:23Speaker 1: said his dad is paying attention a lot more to
- 11:26Speaker 1: baseball than he was for a while.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Oh, I bet.
- 11:29Speaker 3: His dad's locked in on every game.
- 11:30Speaker 4: I mean, bro, I... we were talking to him pregame, right?
- 11:35Speaker 4: And we're in the manager's office. You know how we
- 11:37Speaker 4: go in before when you're on the national broadcast, you
- 11:39Speaker 4: go and you get about 20, 30 minutes with the
- 11:41Speaker 4: manager one-on-one time. And it's intimate. And he was just
- 11:45Speaker 4: telling us basically the communication that he has, I'm so
- 11:51Speaker 4: impressed with. He's saying all the right things as a
- 11:53Speaker 4: former player. Where early on, they were awful at challenging.
- 11:58Speaker 4: And they would get their players together and say, hey,
- 12:01Speaker 4: this is where umpires tend to call strikes on you.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Let's start challenging that. And like, these are the leveraged counts,
- 12:07Speaker 4: communicating on challenging, communicating on, they swang a lot. They
- 12:11Speaker 4: were swinging a lot early in the count just because
- 12:13Speaker 4: it was early in the count. And they kind of
- 12:15Speaker 4: got back to that old school Red Sox mentality where
- 12:18Speaker 4: they're grinding pitchers out. And they talked about it and
- 12:21Speaker 4: they met as a group and they met as a
- 12:23Speaker 4: group for their identity. And all of these things he's saying,
- 12:26Speaker 4: I'm like, man, this is, I feel like For being
- 12:30Speaker 4: a first-time manager in the position he's in, in Boston,
- 12:33Speaker 4: where it's different with the media, the fact that he's
- 12:36Speaker 4: communicating this well with his players is just really impressive,
- 12:39Speaker 4: and you can see why they've turned around. He's at
- 12:42Speaker 4: the head of the ship, and when the head is
- 12:44Speaker 4: sturdy like he is, it trickles all the way down.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and the adversity he had to deal with when
- 12:51Speaker 1: he first stepped in there.
- 12:53Speaker 3: There's a lot of drama. They weren't good.
- 12:55Speaker 4: They were terrible.
- 12:56Speaker 3: They're terrible.
- 12:57Speaker 4: They were terrible.
- 12:58Speaker 3: And he was patient.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Sell the team.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Wilson got 10 years.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I remember him doing a lot of small stuff that
- 13:05Speaker 1: made it on social media that felt like bringing that
- 13:08Speaker 1: group together as a family, supporting Wilson and him getting
- 13:11Speaker 1: 10 years this year. I think Sonny Gray had something
- 13:14Speaker 1: special happen. It just felt like they were starting to.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Sonny Gray is good, right? They thought he was going
- 13:21Speaker 4: to be good.
- 13:22Speaker 3: He's great. Sonny Gray.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Right?
- 13:24Speaker 3: Great.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Garrett Crochet goes down. Their best pitcher, one of the
- 13:29Speaker 4: best pitchers in the American League, down. Their left fielder,
- 13:31Speaker 4: their star left fielder, Roman Anthony, gone, right? And he's
- 13:35Speaker 4: doing this with guys that he had in AAA, so
- 13:37Speaker 4: maybe that's an advantage because they know each other and
- 13:39Speaker 4: they're more comfortable in the big leagues. But, man, that team,
- 13:43Speaker 4: that team's, they got a deep bullpen, a really deep bullpen,
- 13:47Speaker 4: and they're battle-tested, so they believe, they believe they can
- 13:51Speaker 4: catch the Yankees. They believe that there's still enough time
- 13:53Speaker 4: to win the division, so. Anything can happen. That's the
- 13:56Speaker 4: beauty of this game. And this season right now is crazy.
- 13:58Speaker 3: It's crazy. It's so much fun. And we're approaching September.
- 14:01Speaker 3: It's right around the corner.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And just the playoff race down to the end is
- 14:05Speaker 1: just getting tighter and tighter. We've got to give the
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yankees some love because I feel like their offense hasn't
- 14:13Speaker 1: been just the typical Yankees. You think about the Bronx
- 14:17Speaker 1: Bombers and those guys with Judge out and Stanton out
- 14:20Speaker 1: and Belly. But the Yankees have been 11-6 since the
- 14:24Speaker 1: trade deadline.
- 14:25Speaker 3: The Red Sox 11-8.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You would assume that, you know, the Red Sox were
- 14:29Speaker 1: better because they were getting all the hype and they've
- 14:31Speaker 1: turned it around.
- 14:31Speaker 3: And that run they went on before the break. But
- 14:33Speaker 3: the Yankees have held steady with that pitching staff they have.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I'm so excited about the series this weekend, four-game set,
- 14:39Speaker 1: because you've got two really good teams. Yankees flying under
- 14:43Speaker 1: the radar somehow, but doing it with the pitching and
- 14:46Speaker 1: defense and some timely hitting and the.
- 14:48Speaker 3: George Lombard Jr.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Coming up and being steady there, and we've talked about
- 14:52Speaker 1: that a little bit, but it's going to be an
- 14:54Speaker 1: exciting series because I think they've, you know, their offense
- 14:58Speaker 1: isn't the homer offense that we're used to, but they've
- 15:00Speaker 1: made some really good moves at the deadline to kind
- 15:02Speaker 1: of piece it together, and when they get Judge back,
- 15:04Speaker 1: that may be the best team in baseball for me
- 15:06Speaker 1: if he comes back.
- 15:06Speaker 4: And is swinging well. Yeah, their pitching's deep. Fried's going
- 15:09Speaker 4: to be coming back. Weathers just went down, but I
- 15:12Speaker 4: think it's good news. He won't be down for too long.
- 15:14Speaker 4: They're going to have the formula in the postseason where
- 15:18Speaker 4: they can move some starters to the bullpen. Clark Schmidt's
- 15:21Speaker 4: coming back. He can give them innings late, hopefully. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 4: I mean, look, I think the American League really comes
- 15:32Speaker 4: down to two teams making it to the World Series.
- 15:35Speaker 4: I really feel like it's the Yankees or the Red
- 15:36Speaker 4: Sox that are going to do it. Obviously, there's a
- 15:38Speaker 4: team that's going to get hot, but You look at
- 15:40Speaker 4: the American League.
- 15:42Speaker 3: The Rays always fly on the radar.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I know, but I can't.
- 15:45Speaker 1: They're good.
- 15:46Speaker 4: The Rays are really good. The Rays just, for me,
- 15:49Speaker 4: they just fly under the radar. They don't play in
- 15:51Speaker 4: these big magnitude games. I mean, I have a ton
- 15:55Speaker 4: of respect for the Rays because they always show up. But,
- 15:57Speaker 4: I mean, I just feel like the Red Sox are
- 15:59Speaker 4: playing at such a high level and they're battle-tested. Not
- 16:03Speaker 4: to say every team isn't because every team goes through
- 16:04Speaker 4: their own adversity, right?
- 16:05Speaker 1: Sure. Well, and I think, like, the postseason's a different
- 16:08Speaker 1: beast until you prove it in the postseason.
- 16:10Speaker 3: It's hard to get. Totally.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That's why everybody just underestimates Milwaukee, right? Like, they haven't
- 16:16Speaker 1: done it in the postseason.
- 16:16Speaker 4: They haven't done it, yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 3: You got to go do it. You got to go
- 16:19Speaker 3: do it. Speaking of.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Speaking, adversity.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Adversity. There we go. See, we were on the same page, bro.
- 16:24Speaker 3: It was third episode in. We're locked in.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Houston Astros, Dana Brown, gone. He gone. Jim Crane decided
- 16:33Speaker 4: to pull the plug on her GM. um they are
- 16:37Speaker 4: currently winning the al west with a losing record which
- 16:40Speaker 4: is crazy uh crazy this late in the season to
- 16:45Speaker 4: fire your gm is on a first place team on
- 16:48Speaker 4: a playoff contending team that's that's that's a head scratch.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah well yeah it gets you it gives you a
- 16:55Speaker 1: little glimpse inside you know what might be going on
- 16:58Speaker 1: behind the scenes obviously not good um you know when
- 17:02Speaker 1: the owner has to take over baseball operations.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 4: They said he's going to be involved in pretty much
- 17:07Speaker 4: everything now.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:08Speaker 1: When I know he leans on, like he leans on
- 17:11Speaker 1: Bagwell and Biggio, these guys that he keeps close to him.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I love that.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Like being able to ask real players, but you know,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I was digging a little bit on that.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Like what, it doesn't make any.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Sense, but like Houston was seven and 11 since the
- 17:24Speaker 1: trade deadline and three and six at home, this last
- 17:26Speaker 1: homestand against teams under 500.
- 17:29Speaker 3: So I don't know if it has.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Something to do where he feels like, Dana Brown didn't
- 17:33Speaker 1: do enough at the trade deadline or push forward.
- 17:37Speaker 4: He pretty much did nothing. He went out and got
- 17:39Speaker 4: Dart and Varsha. That's it, right?
- 17:42Speaker 3: Yeah. I thought they needed some pitching. I thought they
- 17:45Speaker 3: needed some starting pitching.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Everyone did.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Yeah. It felt like there was a lot on there.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Obviously, we're not in those conversations of what guys are
- 17:51Speaker 1: asking for. When people get fired, Jordan's a beast.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Triple crown MVP.
- 17:54Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 18:01Speaker 3: That dude's an animal.
- 18:02Speaker 4: That'll be interesting to see this offseason if a new
- 18:05Speaker 4: GM comes in and the direction that the Astros go in.
- 18:09Speaker 4: I mean, the ALS is far from over. It's going
- 18:11Speaker 4: to come down to probably the last day of the season.
- 18:14Speaker 4: I mean, it feels like whatever team decides to get hot,
- 18:17Speaker 4: which a team will get hot, is going to win
- 18:19Speaker 4: that division.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Sure.
- 18:21Speaker 4: So that's a head scratcher there. Our Cubbies had two
- 18:26Speaker 4: heartbreaks in Seattle.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:29Speaker 4: They got walked off back-to-back nights. Craig Council pulled Shota
- 18:34Speaker 4: early in that last game there. I believe he pulled
- 18:37Speaker 4: him in the second or third inning. And I kind
- 18:42Speaker 4: of liked it. I mean, Shota was struggling a little bit.
- 18:44Speaker 4: The Cubs needed to win. You can't get swept there
- 18:47Speaker 4: in Seattle. You're out west, so. They end up putting
- 18:49Speaker 4: up 19 runs, so it's hard to lose when you
- 18:51Speaker 4: put up 19.
- 18:52Speaker 1: That's like the lackey line.
- 18:57Speaker 3: 12 runs in airtight defense, Rossi. I've never lost with it.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Never lost, but how about Randy Rosarino?
- 19:05Speaker 1: That was actually really good, but when you believe Andy, Randy,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean, is freaking..
- 19:11Speaker 4: Dude, two times in the history of the game, Rossi,
- 19:15Speaker 4: where a guy leads off the game with a home
- 19:16Speaker 4: run and ends the game with a walk-off, and it
- 19:18Speaker 4: happened in the last week.
- 19:20Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 19:21Speaker 4: That's crazy. It's only happened twice, and it happened in
- 19:24Speaker 4: one week in.
- 19:25Speaker 3: The history of our game.
- 19:26Speaker 4: I didn't know that. I didn't know that.
- 19:28Speaker 3: That's nice. That's nice.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Well, it just tells you the way the lineups are
- 19:33Speaker 1: constructed now with guys.
- 19:34Speaker 3: It's not just speed. I know both those guys can run,
- 19:37Speaker 3: but speed.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Like, it's not just speed in our game and the
- 19:40Speaker 1: old school, like, guy that gets on base and fast
- 19:43Speaker 1: and you got a guy that hits behind him and
- 19:44Speaker 1: then all your power hitters come up three, four, five. Like,
- 19:47Speaker 1: now it's like, you better you better be locked in
- 19:50Speaker 1: as a pitcher when you step on the ground. Real,
- 19:52Speaker 1: real legit threat, power threat. I mean, Schwarbs, when he's
- 19:56Speaker 1: leading off, like it's, there's, the game has changed. You
- 20:00Speaker 1: know what I thought about? Hold on, go back to
- 20:02Speaker 1: Schwarbs real quick, not to bounce around. But I thought
- 20:04Speaker 1: about you having Schwarbs lead off and you were like,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I don't know about that. He should hit more RBIs.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And then he came up and hit that walk-off because
- 20:11Speaker 1: he was the top of the order.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I was like, there we go. There we go.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Rossi, listen.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Listen.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I get those guys. I get those good players back
- 20:20Speaker 3: up to the top.
- 20:21Speaker 4: You and I both know if you're trying to win
- 20:24Speaker 4: the game in the ninth inning or eighth inning on
- 20:26Speaker 4: a daily basis, your team isn't very good.
- 20:28Speaker 3: You're right.
- 20:29Speaker 4: So it happened off. They walk off. You need walk-offs.
- 20:32Speaker 4: But if you're trying to get your best player up
- 20:34Speaker 4: in the ninth inning to win a ball game every night,
- 20:36Speaker 4: you're not a good team, okay?
- 20:38Speaker 3: Good point, okay.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I'll never back down from it. I understand getting your
- 20:42Speaker 4: best players up. I just love that it happened.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I was like, Riz, I got to bring it over
- 20:44Speaker 3: the pot. I got to bring it over the pot.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Guys, we were on the number one team in the world,

- 21:41Speaker 1: the bedroom.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Kobe's in Arizona, had a little drama last night. We
- 21:45Speaker 4: have a video of Merrill Kelly, maybe some sign stealing.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Relaying signs.
- 21:52Speaker 5: We thought he had something on my changeup. We thought
- 21:54Speaker 5: he was giving, especially the lefties. Every time I was
- 21:58Speaker 5: throwing a changeup, we felt like he was relaying that.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Is that something that you've experienced before?
- 22:03Speaker 5: Uh, I mean, you know, that's stealing signs is as
- 22:06Speaker 5: old as baseball. Um, I think it's a little bullshit
- 22:09Speaker 5: when it comes from a coach, you know, I think,
- 22:12Speaker 5: you know, if it's a guy on second base and
- 22:13Speaker 5: they see the grip in your glove, or if the
- 22:16Speaker 5: hitters can see something that you're doing with your glove,
- 22:19Speaker 5: you know, I think that's fair game. I think guys
- 22:21Speaker 5: have been doing that since the beginning of baseball. Um,
- 22:23Speaker 5: I think it's a little bush league when it comes
- 22:25Speaker 5: from outside that I think inside the lines is one thing.
- 22:28Speaker 5: I think the guys that are standing outside the lines, um,
- 22:31Speaker 5: I think it's a little, I think it's a little
- 22:33Speaker 5: bush league.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Rossi, what do you, what do you got on that Rossi?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Man, listen, like, you know what? It's pretty good when
- 22:40Speaker 1: you're competing. It's free game for me, you know, like it,
- 22:46Speaker 1: if somebody's able to get your pitches, they're like, that's
- 22:50Speaker 1: on you, you know, you gotta be able to hide
- 22:52Speaker 1: as many cameras we have in the ballpark. Everybody's got
- 22:55Speaker 1: the technology where they're, getting inside the glove from second
- 22:58Speaker 1: base and they've got the low, you know, they share
- 23:01Speaker 1: camera views.
- 23:01Speaker 3: There's a low hole. There's a low home and a.
- 23:04Speaker 1: High home camera view where you can see everything guys
- 23:08Speaker 1: are doing. And guys are trying to get any kind
- 23:10Speaker 1: of edge they possibly can. Like I, you know, the
- 23:13Speaker 1: people's like the integrity of the game, all that stuff's like, bro,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I'm trying to win.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Like I'm trying to win.
- 23:17Speaker 4: What he was saying too was Quentin Berry, the Cubs,
- 23:20Speaker 4: their base coach, he thinks was relaying change up to lefties. And,
- 23:26Speaker 4: Fuck yeah, he's relaying. If you're giving it, we're taking it. Right?
- 23:30Speaker 4: As an offensive guy, I know pitchers feel differently, obviously
- 23:33Speaker 4: as Merrill feels differently, but we're all between the lines.
- 23:36Speaker 4: The dugout is between the lines.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Right? Once you get into that dugout, I know the
- 23:40Speaker 4: chalk is what they say is between the lines, but
- 23:43Speaker 4: this is an entire operation that's going on. And it takes,
- 23:48Speaker 4: it doesn't just take the players to win games. It
- 23:51Speaker 4: takes an entire army. Every team is doing it. Every
- 23:54Speaker 4: team's doing it. That's right. And if you're a pitcher
- 23:57Speaker 4: now getting butthurt over people stealing signs, you're living under
- 24:02Speaker 4: a rock because you know every single team has their
- 24:04Speaker 4: own mechanisms of trying to find things. You need to
- 24:07Speaker 4: be on top of it. I know just through rumors,
- 24:11Speaker 4: Torrey Lovello is amazing at picking up signs here and
- 24:14Speaker 4: there and pitches and what pitchers' tendencies. So every team's
- 24:19Speaker 4: doing it. I have zero problem with it. I'm happy
- 24:23Speaker 4: with the Cubs.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And I always think like, There's an easy fix. I
- 24:27Speaker 1: don't know if he didn't know until after the game
- 24:29Speaker 1: maybe or felt it in the game.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Well, no, they were chirping during the game. The dugouts
- 24:33Speaker 4: were going back and forth, and it's like, well, clean
- 24:35Speaker 4: it up.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Hold a change up and then pick up and change
- 24:38Speaker 1: last minute and buzz somebody. I'll stop looking at my
- 24:42Speaker 1: third base coach if he calls change up and I
- 24:45Speaker 1: get one at the dome. I might be like, okay,
- 24:48Speaker 1: he missed that one. I can't trust that.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yeah, there's ways around it.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Rossi, listen. pretty much my entire career. If a catcher
- 24:57Speaker 4: set up early inside on me, you know, uh, from
- 25:01Speaker 4: managing and playing together, I'd have someone in the dugout
- 25:04Speaker 4: scream something because I can start doing the math in
- 25:07Speaker 4: my head very quickly. If they're setting up inside, depending
- 25:10Speaker 4: on the count, it's pretty much a fastball. Now, if
- 25:13Speaker 4: they're setting up inside with two strikes and it's a one,
- 25:17Speaker 4: two count or the way they, the way the, the
- 25:19Speaker 4: whole at bat took shape or place, it could be
- 25:23Speaker 4: a back foot slider, but if a catcher sets up
- 25:25Speaker 4: early inside on me, most of the time it's a fastball.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Why not? If, if the catcher is going to set
- 25:30Speaker 4: up early and give that away, why not get it?
- 25:32Speaker 1: Well, and that's the, and that's the thing about why
- 25:35Speaker 1: catchers set up later or, you know, I feel like
- 25:39Speaker 1: we've talked about this a hair, but like this setting
- 25:42Speaker 1: up middle for catchers now is so hard for me
- 25:45Speaker 1: to get on board with because of how I caught.
- 25:47Speaker 3: But like, there's a lot that goes into that.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Like, you know, Nobody's stealing Tampa Bay signs because their
- 25:51Speaker 1: catcher's set up middle every pitch.
- 25:54Speaker 3: You know, so either you can't... Rip it and rip it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and you gotta, if you can't get it from
- 25:59Speaker 1: the pitcher, you shouldn't be able to get it from
- 26:00Speaker 1: the catcher, right? So you have to start eliminating ways
- 26:03Speaker 1: of giving teams any advantage. And there's so many advantages
- 26:06Speaker 1: you can give away and the good teams don't.
- 26:09Speaker 4: There's so many tendencies that catchers do that it's almost
- 26:14Speaker 4: impossible not to give away. There's times where a catcher
- 26:18Speaker 4: you know, leans left and anytime he leans left first
- 26:21Speaker 4: and does anything, he's going right. Or anytime he puts
- 26:25Speaker 4: his glove down or anytime he touches his shin guard,
- 26:28Speaker 4: it's these, these habits that they don't understand they're doing
- 26:31Speaker 4: that people are getting paid to pick up these tendencies.
- 26:34Speaker 3: So yeah, no doubt.
- 26:35Speaker 4: It's, it's, I look as hitters, we need the edge
- 26:39Speaker 4: at every edge we can get. We got guys throwing 105.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I know Merrill Kelly isn't, isn't up there anymore. He's,
- 26:45Speaker 4: he's in the lower 90. He's, he's kind of the, uh,
- 26:48Speaker 4: abnormal starting pitcher now but he keeps getting it done
- 26:51Speaker 4: he's had a hell of a career especially playing in
- 26:52Speaker 4: japan but um the cub the cubs though they win
- 26:57Speaker 4: last night they play better which is crazy to me
- 27:01Speaker 4: against national league teams and american league teams they're terrible
- 27:05Speaker 4: against the al 55 and 32 against nl and what
- 27:08Speaker 4: are they against the al.
- 27:13Speaker 1: AL, the Cubs are 21-24, and the Brewers are 27-15.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Shout out Chris Tran giving us these stats. The Cubs
- 27:22Speaker 1: have been better than the Brewers in the NL, but
- 27:25Speaker 1: the Brewers have dominated the AL at the 27-15 record,
- 27:28Speaker 1: and the Cubs are 21-24.
- 27:30Speaker 3: That's hard to believe.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Isn't that weird? For me, that must just be the
- 27:35Speaker 4: ebbs and flow of the season and their timing of
- 27:38Speaker 4: playing these teams because the American League is clearly down, right?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:42Speaker 4: You have a lot of teams under 500, the wildcard
- 27:45Speaker 4: race under 500. So just for me, for the Cubs,
- 27:49Speaker 4: it's just probably one of those things where it's there.
- 27:53Speaker 4: I mean, maybe they're getting up for the bigger games.
- 27:54Speaker 4: I don't know. They're playing at a very high level
- 27:56Speaker 4: at Wrigley, which, which personally concerns me. Their, their levels
- 28:00Speaker 4: that they're playing at are almost too high. I need
- 28:02Speaker 4: them to just, I don't want to see the Cubs
- 28:05Speaker 4: go on a 10 game winning streak. I just want
- 28:06Speaker 4: them to go eight and two, eight and two, seven
- 28:09Speaker 4: and three, just, Just be steady, Eddie, and then at
- 28:12Speaker 4: the end of the season when you get to the playoffs,
- 28:13Speaker 4: that's when the emotions get as high as they need
- 28:15Speaker 4: to be.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Well, the good news is they don't have to play
- 28:18Speaker 1: any AL teams until the World Series when they get
- 28:20Speaker 1: to the playoffs.
- 28:21Speaker 4: That's a good point.
- 28:22Speaker 3: The Cubbies, the future's looking bright for them. The Cubs
- 28:25Speaker 3: fans can get.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Excited about this postseason run they're going to get on.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I think, man, they're hitting it all at the right time.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But let's switch to our Corona Playa.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Of the Week.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Corona Playa of the Week. Sponsored by Corona, our Player
- 28:43Speaker 4: of the Week is Fernando Tatis Jr. for the scorching
- 28:48Speaker 4: San Diego Padres. New ownership. I don't know if you
- 28:52Speaker 4: saw the new owners yesterday coming in. All excited. We're
- 28:57Speaker 4: going to win. We're going to win soon. We're going
- 28:58Speaker 4: to do whatever we need to do to win, which
- 29:00Speaker 4: is exciting for Padres fans, that's for sure. Fernando Tatis,
- 29:05Speaker 4: NL Player of the Week, 12 for 25, two doubles,
- 29:08Speaker 4: four home runs, 11 RBIs. Four-hit, two-home run game on
- 29:13Speaker 4: Sunday versus the Twins. Rossi, this is..
- 29:16Speaker 1: 12 homers since the All-Star, since the trade deadline.
- 29:21Speaker 4: 37 games, 12 takes. He didn't hit his first home
- 29:24Speaker 4: run until May 30th, Rossi. Okay?
- 29:27Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 29:28Speaker 4: I believe that's the date.
- 29:29Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Everyone's like, oh, what's wrong with Tatis? He's going to
- 29:32Speaker 4: be on pace to hit his 25, like he always does.
- 29:36Speaker 4: He's on fire. The Padres are rolling.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Man.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Machado's doing his thing. He's got 20 plus punts. Cronenworth's
- 29:42Speaker 4: swinging it better. Cronenworth's swinging it better. They go out.
- 29:46Speaker 1: A.J.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Peller goes out and gets starting pitching at the deadline.
- 29:49Speaker 4: They have a nasty bullpen. Again, we can talk any
- 29:52Speaker 4: single team in the NL. Right now, Rossi, it's lined
- 29:56Speaker 4: up that it's Dodgers-Padres in the first round. Wild card.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Three games. Which is what we all... That's like... They
- 30:04Speaker 3: hate each other. You know they don't like is... I
- 30:06Speaker 3: think the.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Padres always feel like the Dodgers are the big brother
- 30:08Speaker 1: and haven't been able to take the ball back.
- 30:10Speaker 3: From them on the playground, you know? So... Yeah. And
- 30:14Speaker 3: they've got a star-studded... Like, the Padres... Well, A.J.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Preller's done. He's just put dudes at every position and
- 30:21Speaker 1: real players and signs.
- 30:23Speaker 4: He keeps doing it.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Young guys. Yeah, he keeps doing it. He keeps doing it.
- 30:25Speaker 1: And even with some pitching hurt, like you said, goes
- 30:28Speaker 1: out and gets the right guys that are established and
- 30:30Speaker 1: know how to handle the moments. And it's a fun
- 30:33Speaker 1: team to root for, I've got to be honest. You know,
- 30:36Speaker 1: we both played in San Diego for a minute. What
- 30:38Speaker 1: a great fan base they've got. And it's picked up
- 30:40Speaker 1: so much more since we've been there. So, yeah, again,
- 30:45Speaker 1: it's fun to watch these teams and the guys that
- 30:47Speaker 1: are got these resumes in the back of their baseball
- 30:50Speaker 1: cards starting to get back to what they normally do and.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Then take off.
- 30:54Speaker 4: What they normally do. The guys on the back of
- 30:56Speaker 4: the baseball card, that's exactly what you said. These superstars, man,
- 30:59Speaker 4: they find ways. It's a 162-game grind. Look at Alex Bregman.
- 31:03Speaker 4: The Cubs fans were ready to write off Bregman in
- 31:05Speaker 4: the first two months, and he's completely turned it around.
- 31:08Speaker 4: It's a law of averages. You just keep playing the superstars.
- 31:12Speaker 4: The good players in the game, they figure out ways
- 31:15Speaker 4: to win And they figure out ways to get their numbers.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Let's transition, Rossi. This episode is brought to you. I
- 31:23Speaker 4: want to give a shout out to SeatGeek for sponsoring
- 31:25Speaker 4: this episode with your Floribama sitting here at the Floribama.
- 31:30Speaker 3: SeatGeek.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I would love to go see a show there. I
- 31:34Speaker 4: saw Kenny was just there recently down there at the Floribama.
- 31:38Speaker 3: My boy, Riley Green.
- 31:38Speaker 1: That's where he pretty much came up singing. And now
- 31:42Speaker 1: he's exploded, but. John McGinnis, good buddy of mine, owns
- 31:45Speaker 1: this place. Got to meet him.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Awesome dude.
- 31:47Speaker 4: If you have a chance to get the floor, legendary, legendary.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Shout out.
- 31:52Speaker 3: We now got a sponsor. I'm going to have to
- 31:54Speaker 3: call John. Hey, we're all over the pot.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Rossi, I was watching MLB Network and I saw the
- 32:03Speaker 4: rookie of the year race for the NL and I
- 32:05Speaker 4: saw JJ Weatherholt as the clear favorite to win the
- 32:09Speaker 4: rookie of the year. And I'm sitting there, I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 32:12Speaker 4: what about Sal Stewart, right? And I go pull up
- 32:16Speaker 4: the numbers, and I think, I mean, this is going
- 32:21Speaker 4: to come down to the wire here with Sal Stewart
- 32:23Speaker 4: and J.J. Weatherholt.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Bro, listen, I did Cubs cards, I guess, about a
- 32:30Speaker 1: week ago, and... you know, we get these packets and
- 32:33Speaker 1: you're doing all your research and stuff. And there was
- 32:35Speaker 1: a line in there that said the clear favorite is J.J.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Weatherholt for Rookie of the Year. And immediately in my mind,
- 32:42Speaker 1: I've done two Reds games. Sal Stewart fucking rakes, bro.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Rakes. Bro, he has 98 RBIs as a rookie.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And we're not even in September yet.
- 32:52Speaker 4: He's going to end up with 110. He could end
- 32:54Speaker 4: up with 120 if he has a big September.
- 32:55Speaker 3: And it's all big, like big hits.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Like if I could, you know, I know we're talking
- 32:59Speaker 1: about power is such a great in players and contact
- 33:03Speaker 1: I love, but a dude that drives in runs, like,
- 33:07Speaker 1: that's irreplaceable. And what he's doing offensively, like, no disrespect
- 33:12Speaker 1: to J.J. Weatherholt, but I watched that same MLB network.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Mikey Lowell broke down, like, what are we even talking about? Like,
- 33:19Speaker 1: this guy is slash line at 263, 336, 472 slow,
- 33:23Speaker 1: 27 homers, and leads all of baseball in RBIs.
- 33:25Speaker 5: 806 OPS.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I don't know how he doesn't win.
- 33:34Speaker 4: And he plays every day.
- 33:35Speaker 3: I love defense. I love defense. Love defense, right?
- 33:39Speaker 4: Well, he's a decent first baseman as well. I always
- 33:41Speaker 4: got to give love to my first baseman.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but I just mean that's given J.J.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Weatherholt all the– being a shortstop and– sorry, second baseman
- 33:48Speaker 1: and being so good up the middle. And I get
- 33:51Speaker 1: defense is great, and I love defense. But when you've
- 33:55Speaker 1: got a pure hitter that's a rookie and leading any
- 33:58Speaker 1: category in an offensive category– In baseball, like, I don't know, man.
- 34:05Speaker 3: That was where my vote would go. And we still
- 34:07Speaker 3: got the rest of the season to play out. But
- 34:10Speaker 3: what Sal Stewart's.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Doing is a no-brainer.
- 34:12Speaker 1: J.J.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Weatherholt's having a great year, right? He has 17 homers.
- 34:17Speaker 4: He's got a 724 OPS. But I think this is
- 34:22Speaker 4: the topic that we always talk, like, war, right? He's
- 34:27Speaker 4: got 50 more RBIs.
- 34:29Speaker 3: He's got 50 more RBIs than J.J.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Weatherholt.
- 34:31Speaker 4: 50. That's where I don't understand. How is war factoring
- 34:37Speaker 4: in that JJ is such a better player via war
- 34:40Speaker 4: than Sal Stewart, right? That's where this war number is
- 34:44Speaker 4: so messed up, man. It's just people love to talk about, oh,
- 34:49Speaker 4: his war, his F war, this war. It's like, bro,
- 34:51Speaker 4: look at the player, right?
- 34:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:55Speaker 4: It's just... I don't know.
- 34:56Speaker 3: They're both good.
- 34:57Speaker 4: It's, it's fun to have both great players.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Like, yeah, I'm not trying to, we're not trying to
- 35:00Speaker 3: bash on, uh, guys.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Ali Marble speaks very highly of him. He, he grinds.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I mean, he's come up and he's held his own bro.
- 35:09Speaker 4: And it's not easy to hold your own as a rookie. So, um,
- 35:12Speaker 4: they're both doing good.
- 35:13Speaker 1: The rest of both of them, I'm anxious to see the,
- 35:15Speaker 1: the race, uh, down the stretch and, and the national league, but, uh,
- 35:19Speaker 1: it's pretty, pretty impressive.
- 35:21Speaker 4: I was locked up by Kevin McGonigal. I mean, he's just,
- 35:24Speaker 4: I feel like he's just a clear favorite. He's, I mean, 283,
- 35:27Speaker 4: 14 homers as a rookie, almost 80 walks. That's pretty crazy, Rossi.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. I mean, what he's doing there, filling right in,
- 35:37Speaker 3: has been really impressive.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And, you know, you heard all the rumors about how
- 35:41Speaker 1: great this guy was in the minor leagues, and you
- 35:43Speaker 1: never know how it's going to play out. But what
- 35:46Speaker 1: he's doing has been really impressive. The guys have started.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Scott Harris told me, he was like, wait till you
- 35:52Speaker 1: see this McGonagall kid. Wait till you see this McGonagall kid. Yeah.
- 35:55Speaker 3: And I'm always like, ah, the hype's not real.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I don't think vet players are always like, ah, we'll
- 36:00Speaker 1: see how they do in the league. But the young
- 36:02Speaker 1: talent in our games coming up, and nothing is phasing
- 36:05Speaker 1: these guys.
- 36:06Speaker 3: They handle moments.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I feel like they go through so much as young
- 36:11Speaker 1: players and travel ball and all the showcases and playing
- 36:14Speaker 1: in the big stadiums that when they get in front
- 36:16Speaker 1: of these crowds and these big stadiums, they're not even phased.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:19Speaker 4: I mean, bro, there's only two other players to have a–
- 36:24Speaker 4: better on base percentage than him in their rookie year
- 36:27Speaker 4: in the last 15 years and that's Aaron Judge and
- 36:30Speaker 4: Mike Trout so that's pretty good company I'm not comparing
- 36:35Speaker 4: them but.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Sure well I mean we start putting up those kind
- 36:38Speaker 1: of numbers that's the thing that gets you in the
- 36:41Speaker 1: right conversations is when you start comparing numbers to guys
- 36:44Speaker 1: that were the best at the same time and go
- 36:49Speaker 1: on to have great careers and we know how much
- 36:52Speaker 1: we love that on base stat.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Oh yeah This weekend, coming up, Rossi, we have, I
- 36:57Speaker 4: know we talked about it a little bit, but big
- 36:59Speaker 4: four-game set, Red Sox-Yankees. We both played in this rivalry.
- 37:04Speaker 4: You were Red Sox, I was a Yankee. At Yankee Stadium,
- 37:08Speaker 4: the Bronx is going to be electric. Who are you
- 37:13Speaker 4: giving the edge to right now?
- 37:14Speaker 1: Well, you know, I think I just like what the
- 37:18Speaker 1: Yankees are doing right now as much as I want
- 37:20Speaker 1: to pull for the Sox. Um, I just love that
- 37:23Speaker 1: pitching staff is so sustainable and consistent. Uh, but like
- 37:27Speaker 1: a good store we were in, in 2013, we had a, uh,
- 37:31Speaker 1: a nice lead and the Yankees weren't very good. They,
- 37:33Speaker 1: they didn't make the post season that year, but, um,
- 37:35Speaker 1: we came in and they were one of the hottest
- 37:36Speaker 1: teams in baseball of the last month. And it was
- 37:39Speaker 1: our last series. And we had a four game set
- 37:40Speaker 1: as well at Yankee stadium. And it was one of
- 37:44Speaker 1: those like, Hey, we better bring it. Cause you know, the,
- 37:46Speaker 1: the energy there is, is electric every time they play.
- 37:50Speaker 1: It doesn't matter who's in the race and not. And
- 37:52Speaker 1: we won three out of four games, I'll never forget.
- 37:54Speaker 1: And we beat Mariano twice. I think Knapp hit a
- 37:57Speaker 1: home run to tie it late. And Daniel Nava got
- 38:00Speaker 1: a big knock on one for us to go to extras.
- 38:04Speaker 1: And we ended up winning three of the four. But
- 38:06Speaker 1: I'll never forget. we were tested in that moment. It's like, yeah,
- 38:11Speaker 1: we're playing great. We were in first place. We were
- 38:13Speaker 1: one of the best teams in baseball, but the Yankees
- 38:15Speaker 1: were one of the hottest teams in baseball. We went
- 38:17Speaker 1: in there and it was a battle for four games.
- 38:19Speaker 1: And luckily we came out of there three or four.
- 38:20Speaker 1: And I think that gave us the confidence that just
- 38:22Speaker 1: took us all the way to the World Series. But
- 38:24Speaker 1: when you're in those environments, I always said the American
- 38:27Speaker 1: League East, when you're, it's usually one of the, and
- 38:30Speaker 1: this year, obviously it's a little bit down the American
- 38:33Speaker 1: League as a whole, but When you're in the American
- 38:34Speaker 1: League East in those environments, you're always playing playoff baseball.
- 38:37Speaker 1: And especially Red Sox, Yankees, being in that energy does
- 38:43Speaker 1: nothing but good for you when you get to the
- 38:45Speaker 1: postseason because nothing's going to phase you. This Gold Glove
- 38:48Speaker 1: Player of the Week segment is brought to you by Bluetooth,
- 38:51Speaker 1: the number one brand for better sex. If you want
- 38:54Speaker 1: to perform like a champ, go to Bluetooth.com. Guys, check
- 38:58Speaker 1: out Brandon Nemo. Him.
- 38:59Speaker 3: And then he just poses. Look at the pose.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Give me the pose.
- 39:03Speaker 3: It was like a knight bowing down to the queen, bro.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Watch this. Just over the wall. And I love this
- 39:10Speaker 3: pose right here. Just down. Can't believe it. Pitch is excited.
- 39:14Speaker 3: But the fact he takes the knee. Watch it one
- 39:16Speaker 3: more time. Goes up. Ben Attendee. Poor guy. And the
- 39:20Speaker 3: White Sox are rolling. But pose me. That's the finish there.
- 39:25Speaker 3: They stuck the landing. I mean, that's a 10 out
- 39:28Speaker 3: of 10 for me, Riz. I don't know about you.
- 39:30Speaker 3: but that is absolutely epic, bro.
- 39:32Speaker 4: That's our Gold Glove Play of the Week.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Thanks, Bluetooth, for the sponsor.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Oh, man. And Ben Attendee, though. You said Ben Attendee.
- 39:41Speaker 4: He's having a great year. Good bounce back year for
- 39:43Speaker 4: the White Sox. Right in the middle of that lineup.
- 39:45Speaker 3: You need your horses. And he's like that.
- 39:48Speaker 1: He's now the veteran guy with all those young guys
- 39:50Speaker 1: around and signing that contract.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Going through some losing, struggling, like you said.
- 39:54Speaker 1: And getting rewarded for going through the grind, as you
- 39:57Speaker 1: did in Chicago for a long time.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Been there.
- 39:59Speaker 3: I know what it's all about. Yeah, you've been there.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:01Speaker 3: That's got to feel good.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Let's get into our daily mailbag, our Tim Buss Ball
- 40:06Speaker 4: Bag Questions of the Week, where Rossi and I answer questions.
- 40:10Speaker 4: If you have any questions, you can leave a comment
- 40:12Speaker 4: on YouTube. Or email rossandrizzo at gmail.com. We will answer
- 40:17Speaker 4: some of the best questions of the week. We have
- 40:20Speaker 4: an email from Evan Newman. Oh, and we talked about this, Rossi.
- 40:25Speaker 4: How do you view the war argument and how should
- 40:27Speaker 4: it be evaluated in MVP debates? Most notably, PCA and Otani.
- 40:32Speaker 4: How has it affected your time as a player and
- 40:34Speaker 4: manager analytically, statistically, and in contract negotiations?
- 40:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I had never looked at war.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I think that definitely like when you're dealing with offseason
- 40:43Speaker 1: contracts and stuff. But we're talking about Pete and Shohei.
- 40:47Speaker 1: You know, I think Pete, I always kind of look
- 40:50Speaker 1: at it like the eyeball test. The numbers are great
- 40:52Speaker 1: to put them side by side. But what's the eyeball
- 40:55Speaker 1: test and who's most important to their team, the most
- 40:57Speaker 1: valuable player? Like when Shohei's pitching, it's hard to argue
- 41:00Speaker 1: because he's doing something that nobody else is doing. And
- 41:03Speaker 1: you can equate PCA's defense to that. obviously, but it
- 41:07Speaker 1: doesn't compare to when he's starting and putting up a
- 41:10Speaker 1: one seven ERA, you know, but Pete, for me right now,
- 41:15Speaker 1: and maybe there's a little bit of just like show.
- 41:17Speaker 1: He's been the best for a long time. You get
- 41:19Speaker 1: a little bit of like, bored.
- 41:21Speaker 4: Shohei's having kind of his bored boring down year right
- 41:24Speaker 4: now which is crazy.
- 41:28Speaker 1: And he already has like 80 innings of dominant pitching
- 41:31Speaker 1: you know so the fact I've always I had this
- 41:34Speaker 1: debate and I'm gonna get off topic for a second
- 41:36Speaker 1: but like I listen to all these debates and stuff
- 41:37Speaker 1: is like what if you put Shohei's numbers in the
- 41:40Speaker 1: closer role and took those innings like it would be
- 41:43Speaker 1: different if he was on the mound closing at 80
- 41:45Speaker 1: innings with a 1-7 and let's say 30 something saves Like,
- 41:49Speaker 1: people would be like, oh, it's not even close.
- 41:50Speaker 3: It'd be Shohei. But the fact that because.
- 41:52Speaker 1: It was early in the season and it was starter innings, like,
- 41:55Speaker 1: it feels like a little bit it's linked to PCA.
- 41:57Speaker 1: But with that being said, I love the– like, PCA
- 42:02Speaker 1: is must-watch TV. When I turn on the Cubs game,
- 42:04Speaker 1: I can't wait for that dude to come to play.
- 42:06Speaker 4: So is Shohei, bro.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Shohei is. And maybe it's a little bit at West Coast.
- 42:09Speaker 4: That's why this is going to be a great debate.
- 42:11Speaker 3: It's going to be great.
- 42:11Speaker 1: But Pete's doing something special now, and his odds of
- 42:15Speaker 1: winning are higher than they've ever been. So– Um, I
- 42:19Speaker 1: think PCA, like if there was a vote right now,
- 42:21Speaker 1: I think PCA wins it. But I, you know, my
- 42:26Speaker 1: manager brain goes, bro, uh, like I would rather have
- 42:29Speaker 1: Shohei on my team, which is nuts.
- 42:32Speaker 4: As far as the war goes, it's the war. I
- 42:35Speaker 4: think you have two guys here that the war is just, it's,
- 42:39Speaker 4: it's a stat that if front offices want to look
- 42:44Speaker 4: at that stat and use it as a good thing,
- 42:45Speaker 4: they can, if they want to use it a bad thing,
- 42:47Speaker 4: they can't. Someone just told me, I had the Astros
- 42:50Speaker 4: Mariners last week, right? And I believe they asked the
- 42:57Speaker 4: Mariners GM about Josh Naylor. Josh Naylor steals over 20
- 43:00Speaker 4: bags a year now. And they say, does that factor
- 43:02Speaker 4: into his contract, right? And he says, no. And my opinion, why?
- 43:07Speaker 1: Why?
- 43:08Speaker 4: Because he plays first base and he's a big guy?
- 43:09Speaker 4: 20 bags is 20 bags. It's not easy to steal
- 43:13Speaker 4: 20 stolen bases. So these teams pick what they want
- 43:17Speaker 4: to look at. And if a guy's a high war player,
- 43:19Speaker 4: they could justify it. If he's a low war player,
- 43:20Speaker 4: they it's, There's just, the war stat is just, can
- 43:23Speaker 4: we get rid of it, please? Yeah.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Well, I just love, like, we all like guys with
- 43:29Speaker 1: high baseball IQ and they find moments.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Those are what we call winning players, right?
- 43:33Speaker 1: And I want more of those guys on my team.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I want as many of those guys on my team
- 43:36Speaker 1: as I possibly can. Again, taking advantage of anything I see,
- 43:40Speaker 1: and you're going to fall asleep on me because I'm
- 43:42Speaker 1: a first baseman and I'm a.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Heavyset power hitter.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Like, go ahead. Yeah, that's fine.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Rossi, there's guys, and you know, in front offices, they
- 43:48Speaker 4: value war. One war is like $ 10 to $ 12 million.
- 43:52Speaker 4: that's what they value war at, which is how can
- 43:54Speaker 4: you value a stat that much? That's, to me, is crazy.
- 43:59Speaker 4: We put numbers on everything. We put numbers on everything. Evan,
- 44:03Speaker 4: thank you for the question.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Good question.
- 44:05Speaker 4: I hope we answered it.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I got to know what Thomas, let me, this one's
- 44:08Speaker 1: for you. I'm going to let you do this one first.
- 44:11Speaker 1: We got an email from Thomas Temple. Rizzo, did you
- 44:13Speaker 1: guys ever get in an argument when David Ross, myself,
- 44:17Speaker 1: was your manager for the year and a half.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Do we get any arguments?
- 44:24Speaker 4: There was a few. I think there was one. I mean,
- 44:29Speaker 4: there was one time Lester and I came to your room,
- 44:31Speaker 4: I think in St. Louis, just to hang out and
- 44:32Speaker 4: check in on you to make sure you're doing all right. Because,
- 44:35Speaker 4: you know, the manager spot's different and all the history
- 44:38Speaker 4: we had. There was one team meeting where Rossi was
- 44:42Speaker 4: going crazy on us. It was one of the first
- 44:46Speaker 4: times he flew up on the team. And he's telling us,
- 44:48Speaker 4: you guys got to compete. And he's like getting all
- 44:51Speaker 4: loud and screaming at us. And I'm sitting in my
- 44:54Speaker 4: locker doing everything I can not to laugh because I
- 44:59Speaker 4: know David Ross is David Ross. And I wanted to
- 45:03Speaker 4: video him. And right after the meeting, I go, bro,
- 45:06Speaker 4: it took me everything not to take my phone out
- 45:08Speaker 4: and start recording you.
- 45:09Speaker 3: And I was like, I would have killed you, bro.
- 45:12Speaker 3: I was just seeing red.
- 45:14Speaker 1: I think like Javi guy had picked off that game
- 45:16Speaker 1: or something and we were just like, you know, I
- 45:18Speaker 1: think it was 21 or maybe 20. We just were
- 45:22Speaker 1: kind of just lulling and guys thinking about their numbers
- 45:26Speaker 1: and all that stuff. And I was like, bro, we
- 45:27Speaker 1: just got to compete.
- 45:31Speaker 4: The easy part for me as a player was I
- 45:34Speaker 4: pretty much hit third or fourth every single day and
- 45:36Speaker 4: played first base. So there wasn't a lot of interactions happening.
- 45:42Speaker 4: negative or positive with the manager it was always just
- 45:45Speaker 4: friendly for the most part because i knew my.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Relationship yeah and our relationship i i leaned on you
- 45:50Speaker 1: guys you lester lester lester leaves it wrong but you
- 45:54Speaker 1: have strong opinions and takes nico was a really good
- 45:56Speaker 1: young guy to bounce things off of jay was always
- 46:00Speaker 1: just shoot me straight you know like if i think
- 46:02Speaker 1: when i managed and i first got in the seat
- 46:03Speaker 1: it was it was such a like i hope i'm
- 46:06Speaker 1: doing this right i'm trying my best and i know
- 46:08Speaker 1: these guys but Let me ask the guys.
- 46:11Speaker 3: They know me as good as anybody. Let me ask
- 46:13Speaker 3: the boys that I've been to battle with. And that's
- 46:15Speaker 3: what was great about managing.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I remember there were so many questions when I got
- 46:19Speaker 1: that job about, how are you going to be hard
- 46:21Speaker 1: on these guys?
- 46:21Speaker 3: Are you going to be able to manage them?
- 46:23Speaker 4: Well, I could tell you how you'd be hard unless
- 46:25Speaker 4: you just fucking traded all of us.
- 46:27Speaker 3: I did that. Okay. Okay. Okay. Shout out, Jen.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Shout out, Jen.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Oh, gosh.
- 46:35Speaker 1: One more.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Our last ball bag question of the week is from
- 46:38Speaker 4: Brad Barber. As a player, how much did your history
- 46:41Speaker 4: against a player or team affect you as you prepared
- 46:45Speaker 4: for slash took you at bat?
- 46:46Speaker 3: It's a good question.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Josh, I think this is a good one for you
- 46:48Speaker 4: to start, especially as a catcher.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it was really good. Well, you want to find
- 46:52Speaker 3: the history in your pitcher.
- 46:53Speaker 1: The thing that people don't know, first of all, front
- 46:55Speaker 1: offices don't value the history, the matchups, right? It doesn't
- 47:00Speaker 1: matter if you're hitting 1,000 off a guy and you
- 47:04Speaker 1: see him well. They feel like the law of averages
- 47:07Speaker 1: are going to come back. So that's always a tough
- 47:09Speaker 1: little battle. But the thing about managing and catching is
- 47:13Speaker 1: that the pitcher knows and the hitters knows. You know
- 47:16Speaker 1: the guys that you saw well. And when you got
- 47:17Speaker 1: in the box, you're like, I own this guy. There's
- 47:20Speaker 1: nothing he can do to get me out. immediately you're
- 47:23Speaker 1: a better hitter when you get in the box.
- 47:24Speaker 3: With that mindset.
- 47:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Versus like, I've never gotten a hit off this freaking guy.
- 47:28Speaker 1: You know, this guy owns me and I'm just trying
- 47:32Speaker 1: to grind right now.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 47:33Speaker 1: It's just a different kind of defensive mindset versus offensive.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So the matchups matter. And then I always, when I caught,
- 47:42Speaker 1: you would go over.
- 47:42Speaker 3: The scouting report with Lester or early in my career,
- 47:44Speaker 3: whoever that was. And yeah, immediately you.
- 47:47Speaker 4: Did catch other guys other than yeah well i'll tell.
- 47:50Speaker 1: You one i'll tell you one that was really funny
- 47:52Speaker 1: uh i was in atlanta and we played the twins
- 47:54Speaker 1: and tim hudson will go to our pre-game meeting he's
- 47:56Speaker 1: like bro jim tommy owns me he's like he hits
- 47:59Speaker 1: me freaking so well it's a left center homer or
- 48:02Speaker 1: double in the gap every time and so i'm like
- 48:04Speaker 1: well honey that makes sense like so i i i
- 48:08Speaker 1: did a good job of reading swings is what i
- 48:10Speaker 1: did So Jim Tomey had this, like, left center power,
- 48:14Speaker 1: let the ball get deep.
- 48:15Speaker 3: And that's right into Huddy's beautiful swing. And big time power.
- 48:18Speaker 3: He would get in the box. His shoe was this
- 48:20Speaker 3: freaking big. He's a man.
- 48:22Speaker 4: One of my favorite human beings on earth.
- 48:24Speaker 1: And Huddy would throw him two seamers, was right into
- 48:27Speaker 1: the barrel. So we just started fours in and cutters in.
- 48:30Speaker 1: And I think he walked him once, but we got
- 48:32Speaker 1: him out two other times. And a little bit of that, like,
- 48:35Speaker 1: trying to change their mindset and doing stuff. But my
- 48:38Speaker 1: point to that is pitchers know when guys own them.
- 48:41Speaker 1: They get scared.
- 48:41Speaker 4: Tommy was nine for 18 off Hudson with four homers.
- 48:45Speaker 3: There you go.
- 48:45Speaker 4: Is that good? There you go.
- 48:46Speaker 3: 500 average. That's pretty good.
- 48:50Speaker 4: For me, it definitely helps. I think anytime you face
- 48:52Speaker 4: a pitcher and you get history and you log stuff
- 48:55Speaker 4: in your own brain, whether you have hits off him
- 48:57Speaker 4: or not, it always plays into your favor. Especially, I
- 49:01Speaker 4: always go, who is catching as well? What team, the tendencies? But, man,
- 49:05Speaker 4: the mental battle for me is if I had good
- 49:07Speaker 4: numbers off a guy and I was scuffling, I would
- 49:09Speaker 4: go into that game saying, fuck man, if I don't
- 49:11Speaker 4: get a hit off of this guy, how bad am I? Right.
- 49:14Speaker 4: Cause I have great numbers off them. And then you
- 49:17Speaker 4: go into the games where it's like, you're facing the
- 49:18Speaker 4: Scherzers or Kershaw's or Strasburg's and all these elite pitchers
- 49:24Speaker 4: to Rom. And, oh, I got no chance today. And
- 49:26Speaker 4: you end up getting two hits. So, it's a funny game.
- 49:29Speaker 4: It's a mental game. The mental aspect of it.
- 49:32Speaker 1: But I think that's the biggest factor of the matchups.
- 49:34Speaker 1: It's like both guys know mentally what they've done.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Oh, totally.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:39Speaker 4: There's guys that knew they owned me and I got
- 49:40Speaker 4: a hit off of them. I remember I hit a
- 49:42Speaker 4: home run, a two-strike home run off. Chase Anderson. Chase
- 49:45Speaker 4: Anderson owned me. I have three hits off of him.
- 49:48Speaker 4: One is a bunt single. Another one, I don't even
- 49:53Speaker 4: know if I did.
- 49:53Speaker 3: You know a guy owns you and you start butting
- 49:55Speaker 3: on him.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Exactly. And I clipped him late in my career. And
- 50:02Speaker 4: I hit a home run off him. It was like
- 50:03Speaker 4: a two-strike choked up just over the yellow line in
- 50:06Speaker 4: Milwaukee home run. And I loved it. But he knew
- 50:11Speaker 4: he owned me. It's a battle. I had good at-bats
- 50:15Speaker 4: off him, but he got me out every time it
- 50:17Speaker 4: seemed like. Yes, the history does help. And it does
- 50:20Speaker 4: help repairing. Rossi, I know you got a tee time
- 50:24Speaker 4: there in Pebble. Hopefully you've We're going to have to
