Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Would and should the US actually commit US troops to
- 0:04Speaker 1: defend Taiwan.
- 0:05Speaker 2: You know, I think that.
- 0:09Speaker 1: This is such a you know, I think that.
- 0:15Speaker 3: This is a.
- 0:18Speaker 1: This is of course, a very long standing policy of
- 0:24Speaker 1: the United States.
- 0:25Speaker 4: AOC taking heat after that fumbling Munich earlier this month,
- 0:28Speaker 4: but now she's pointing the finger at President Trump and
- 0:31Speaker 4: her critics for a series of verbal stumbles and policy missteps.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Let's bring in Kayle McGee white Fox News contributor and
- 0:36Speaker 4: Steve Boat Institute fellow, and Megan Hayes, former Biden director
- 0:39Speaker 4: of message planning. Ladies, good to see you this afternoon.
- 0:42Speaker 4: So she took to Instagram over the weekend to say, Hey,
- 0:45Speaker 4: it's not me, it's you. Listen to what she said.
- 0:50Speaker 1: If you think that I don't understand foreign policy because
- 0:53Speaker 1: out of hours of discourse about international affairs, I pause
- 0:58Speaker 1: to think, though one of the most sensitive geopolitical issues
- 1:03Speaker 1: that currently exist on curse, I'm afraid the issue is
- 1:07Speaker 1: not my understanding, but rather the problem is perhaps you've
- 1:12Speaker 1: gotten adjusted to a president that never thinks before he
- 1:17Speaker 1: speaks and doesn't care about the implications of his words
- 1:21Speaker 1: before he speaks.
- 1:22Speaker 4: On matters like these people say that's the Instagram equivalent
- 1:25Speaker 4: of a midnight drunk dial complete with snoring fiance. What
- 1:30Speaker 4: do you think of that?
- 1:32Speaker 5: I mean, I think that when you go to these
- 1:33Speaker 5: conferences abroad, you need to come and you need to
- 1:35Speaker 5: have your reduction in a row. They're extremely serious events.
- 1:38Speaker 5: People there have been studying these policies and are complete
- 1:42Speaker 5: experts in this long past members of Congress, and I
- 1:45Speaker 5: just think when you go, you just need to come
- 1:48Speaker 5: correct or don't go. You're representing the United States, regardless
- 1:51Speaker 5: of party, you represent the United States, and I just
- 1:53Speaker 5: think that we should expect better.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I thought it was interesting, she said, the fact that
- 1:56Speaker 4: I took a moment to think about it, that is
- 1:58Speaker 4: a question. You don't even need to think about it.
- 2:00Speaker 4: The answer is thank you very much for allowing me
- 2:02Speaker 4: the chance to change American policy. But American policy has
- 2:05Speaker 4: been long standing tradition of strategic ambiguity, and I'm not
- 2:08Speaker 4: about to change that here and now. That should be
- 2:11Speaker 4: top of mind.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Right She went to a security conference and was absolutely
- 2:14Speaker 3: shocked that she was asked a question about one of
- 2:16Speaker 3: the biggest security related stories in the entire world. But
- 2:20Speaker 3: I do think that it's telling that she ran to
- 2:22Speaker 3: Instagram later to complain about the fallout, because it shows
- 2:26Speaker 3: that she's comfortable on social media where she is frequently praised,
- 2:29Speaker 3: and she's able to speak into this leftist echo chamber
- 2:32Speaker 3: that she's created for herself. And she was shocked when
- 2:35Speaker 3: she went to the security conference and was actually asked
- 2:38Speaker 3: real life questions about real life policies that affect a
- 2:41Speaker 3: lot of people. And so when she couldn't just immediately
- 2:43Speaker 3: pivot to well, we have to fight the oligarchy or
- 2:46Speaker 3: we have to implement democratic socialism, she just totally fell
- 2:49Speaker 3: apart and then run back to the exact same place
- 2:51Speaker 3: where she's comfortable.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I mean the fact that for yours in the background
- 2:54Speaker 4: going aw, it's just priceless. I mean, you couldn't have
- 2:57Speaker 4: gone to a different room. Got to talk about Gavin
- 2:59Speaker 4: News because he was with Andre Dickens, the mayor of Atlanta,
- 3:03Speaker 4: the other day where he was trying to relate to
- 3:05Speaker 4: the audience and said.
- 3:07Speaker 2: This, I'm not you know, I'm not trying to impress you.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I'm just trying to impress upon you. I'm like you,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I'm no better than you. You know, I'm a nine
- 3:20Speaker 2: sixty SAT guy, and you know and I'm not trying
- 3:25Speaker 2: to offend anyone, you know, trying to act all there have.
- 3:28Speaker 2: You got nine forty, but literally a nine sixty sat guy,
- 3:35Speaker 2: I cannot you you've never seen me read a speech
- 3:39Speaker 2: because I cannot read a speech.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Which prompted this response from Nicki Minaja on acts. His
- 3:45Speaker 4: way of bonding with black people is to tell them
- 3:47Speaker 4: how stupid he is and that he can't read. He's
- 3:50Speaker 4: not just telling them that they're all probably stupid and
- 3:52Speaker 4: probably can't read. He's literally slowing down his speech to
- 3:55Speaker 4: make them understand the words that are coming out of
- 3:57Speaker 4: his mouth as if they're children. That means he really
- 4:00Speaker 4: believes they're slow. He's not just saying that he didn't misspeak.
- 4:03Speaker 4: He believes it. When I first mentioned it to you,
- 4:06Speaker 4: you had this look of horror on your face.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Well as someone he used to work for, someone who
- 4:10Speaker 5: was gaff prone, and we got ourselves in a lot
- 4:12Speaker 5: of these situations. I have respect for him that he's
- 4:15Speaker 5: out there and he's talking to people and he's trying
- 4:16Speaker 5: to relate to them. But this is why you go
- 4:19Speaker 5: on book tours before you run, because you get to
- 4:21Speaker 5: make these mistakes and you get to you know. Do
- 4:23Speaker 5: I think that he's being racist, Absolutely not. Do I
- 4:25Speaker 5: think that he meant how it's being received, Absolutely not.
- 4:27Speaker 5: But the fact of the matter is that's what came across,
- 4:30Speaker 5: and those are the things that he needs to work
- 4:31Speaker 5: on if he wants to run for president and be effective.
- 4:33Speaker 5: But I do think it's telling that the way that
- 4:35Speaker 5: he thought he could relate to the audience was talking
- 4:37Speaker 5: about how stupid he supposedly was, or how illiterate he's
- 4:40Speaker 5: claiming to be. I get the whole relatability here, but
- 4:44Speaker 5: I mean it's sort of the bigger tree of low expectations.
- 4:46Speaker 5: You're telling on yourself a little bit when you're saying
- 4:49Speaker 5: that the only way I can relate to the audience
- 4:51Speaker 5: is by making myself a pere dumber. I don't disagree
- 4:54Speaker 5: with you. It was horrible.
- 4:56Speaker 2: There you go.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Don't sugarcoat it. Tell us what you really think. Thanks
