- 0:00Here's your host, Alex Garrett, and welcome inside to this edition of the
- 0:13Alex Garrett Podcast Network. You know, all weekend you've been maybe thinking about
- 0:18the fragility of your bracket. Meanwhile, I've been thinking about the fragility of
- 0:23life. So today is Palm Sunday. Hope you've got a blessed one.
- 0:29But the last few days have been thinking have gotten me thinking about the fragility
- 0:38of life. Because while all of us have been consumed, I included with
- 0:44the bracket busting that's been the first couple of rounds in the NCAA tournament in
- 0:49twenty twenty four. I mean Oakland beating Kentucky fourteen over three. And by
- 0:55the way, did you see that Oakland, which I've was a school in
- 1:00Michigan, got eighty thousand dollars from the University of Louisville fan base for beating
- 1:07Kentucky. How about that? And I believe they turned into merchandise in their
- 1:14tournament run, but nonetheless, which only lasted one game because they did get
- 1:21knocked out by NC State. But nonetheless, nonetheless, the brackets have been
- 1:34busting. But the fragility of life is more important than the fragility of our
- 1:38brackets, isn't it? While coaches and even fans and players may even on
- 1:44the sideline or on the court complaining. Caitlin Clark, right, you were
- 1:48complaining a little bit. Did you not see the footage in Moscow of the
- 1:53concert hall being terrorized with forty dead at least and one hundred wounded. Did
- 2:01you not notice that Kate Middleton had her cancer diagnosis reveal right on national television
- 2:09in the middle of March Madness this past Friday. Well we all noticed it,
- 2:15but not many talked about it after it happened. But that's where I
- 2:21feel like we have to have that conversation. The fragility of life weigh outweighs
- 2:25the fragility of the bracket. So even if your bracket got busted, even
- 2:30if your team didn't go it further into the tournament, thank god you are
- 2:36around to see your team even in the tournament. Thank god you were even
- 2:42around to complain about maybe a referees call or a coaching decision, or if
- 2:49you're the coach, complain about certain situations on the court, certain calls and
- 2:54whatnot. Thank God you were there to breathe and make those complaints because there
- 3:01are forty no longer able to do that in Russia because they are dead from
- 3:07terrorism and what everything of Vladimir Putin. The Russian citizens do not deserve to
- 3:15die in the hands of Isis. They do not. They don't even deserve
- 3:21to diet the hands of their own government. But isis not. They don't
- 3:24deserve that either, and so and so, I just wanted to take a
- 3:30step back, because there is something to the fragility of life that is so
- 3:38much more important but gets less magnified than the fragility of a bracket. And
- 3:46it's like that every March Madness. But this year there are some real heavy
- 3:50news. And by the way, those that were firing off conspiracy theories and
- 3:57those that were firing off hateful things about Kate Middleton's cancer, a photoshop edit,
- 4:06a Mother's Day in the UK, just shut up now. We don't
- 4:12need to hear you talking about how sad you are she's suffering. You made
- 4:15fun of her while she was going through it in January and February and March.
- 4:24So take a seat on the bench to use marchmadness language and sit this
- 4:28one out. I have had a family member, my father that I have
- 4:33cancer, so I can empathize with how bad things have gotten for the Royal
- 4:39family, whether it be Sir Charles's King Charles is now cancer, cancer,
- 4:46Kate Middleton's cancer. It's not easy, it's horrible. But for those who
- 4:53are Monday Morning quarterback in a photo, shame on you for now saying how
- 4:59bad do you feel for doing that? Own up to him and realize that
- 5:04you don't think of the Royal family as people, but they are in fact
- 5:10real people, and they are showing us the fragility of life by what Kate
- 5:15Middleton did on Friday, by what's been going on with King Charles and his
- 5:21kids are diagnosis. So don't sit there and tell me that you care.
- 5:29Now. We don't want to hear that. We don't need to hear that.
- 5:35And Prince William and Came Milton have been saying they've been getting a lot
- 5:39of support, and I sometimes wonder where from because before this video was released
- 5:46on Friday, a lot of people were making fun of her, were making
- 5:50fun of her non a disappearance from the public life, but she clearly had
- 5:59been taking care of her and meeting with the great doctors, the great medical
- 6:02teams that Buckingham Palace has to offer. So, whether it's this Moscow terrorism
- 6:14at the hands of ISIS or Kate Middleton, can we just realize that life
- 6:19is bigger than a bracket and basketball and sports for one second of this fast
- 6:27paced action that now will hit the Sweet sixteen next week. Yeah, I've
- 6:33been talking about how I'm excited when my final four picks may it to the
- 6:38next round, but I'm also aware of the brutalities that the world's facing so
- 6:45much so, and I haven't really done this in an anti Israel light,
- 6:50but what I'm about to tell you should not be taken as totally anti ISRAELI
- 6:58I'm gonna go out in March than say River to the Sea, which is
- 7:01very hurtful to the Jewish people, by the way, very hurtful. But
- 7:11I want to give this information from long reads because here's another situation that we've
- 7:18been maybe not noticing as much. First of all, Secretary of Blincoln has
- 7:26been really swinging and missing when it comes to foreign policy and being the Secretary
- 7:30of State. I wish you put that guitar down and actually get Hamas and
- 7:35Israel to talk. If we're going to play that role. We have to
- 7:41play that role. But Hamas rejects every Israeli deal, while Blinkin plays as
- 7:46a guitar and then goes and talks to Egypt about how they can play a
- 7:51role in providing a pathway for citizens of Gaza fleeing their home. But while
- 8:05I believe the state of Israel, I believe Israel has to defend itself,
- 8:09this stack cannot be ignored. According to say word Derby in Long Reeds,
- 8:15more than the thousand children injured it in Israel's brutal bombardment of Gaza are now
- 8:22amputees. Eliza Griswold meets some of the children and the people treating them,
- 8:35and I talk with doctor Gasan Abu Tisita, who spent forty three days in
- 8:43Gaza performing surgeries. The number of child amputees carries long term implications, Abu
- 8:54Sada told Eliza Griswold, listing his concerns. Israeli forces apparently destroyed Goadz's only
- 9:03facility for manufacturing prosthetics and rehabilitation. This facility was funded by Qatar. Right
- 9:20now, the leading manufacturer of child prosthetics, the German company Autobach, is
- 9:24working to supply the necessary components to children up to the age of sixteen.
- 9:31Procuring prosthetics, however, is only the first step child amputees in medical care.
- 9:37Every six months. Abu Sitz has said, bones are growing faster and
- 9:43rohnes grow faster than self tissue, and several nerves often reattached painfully to skin.
- 9:50Such limb requires eight to twelve more surgeries. While'm gonna post it on
- 9:58my podcast. On my podcast, by you you get the point, it's
- 10:03not looking good for the amputees in Gaza, the children amputees let alone.
- 10:11Then, But and it's another example of life being bigger than basketball, life
- 10:22being bigger than this bracket. Because I've been I've been very cautious outside this.
- 10:31I feel like if you say certain things, you will appear anti Israeli,
- 10:35anti Semitic when it comes to this disaster in the Middle East. I
- 10:46will not understand why the Israeli government sat on this intel that Hamasa was going
- 10:52to do what they did on October seventh. But I do not understand why
- 10:56those who say free Palestine are yelling at innocent Jewish people on the streets of
- 11:01New York. You know, it felt like every day for a little bit
- 11:07there. But alongside the amputees, I have to say's decision to continue this
- 11:18bombing and it worked a segment of getting Hamas leaders who are hiding under these
- 11:26hospitals. That is true. But when you see thousands of amputees and you
- 11:35see what the continued bombing and the continued narrative of Israel bombing has done here
- 11:43to American Jews and put down safety at risk. I really believe that and
- 11:48have believed that the news indirectly indirectly affected American Jewish lives because those American Jewish
- 11:58lives are always under threat. When I see those who were screaming in the
- 12:05streets free Palestine and anti Israeli sentiment, because when you say NYC condemns Israel,
- 12:18I think you loop in those Jewish people who are innocently trying to live
- 12:24their life and steer away from the terrorism that came to them on October seventh
- 12:31and does come to them in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Avision. But
- 12:39when I see a story like the amputees, I cannot ignore that. As
- 12:43someone who wants to discuss adaptability, my goodness, the Gosen population has a
- 12:52lot of adapting to do now, and that includes that includes those who have
- 13:00lost limbs in this battlefield. And so to that end, if you are
- 13:11pro Israel, you cannot ignore the numbers. If you are pro the Jewish
- 13:18people and the right to defend themselves, you still cannot ignore these numbers.
- 13:26But if you are free Palestine, folks, you shouldn't be wearing pins like
- 13:33Mark Ruffalo did of bloodied hands that were shown at the hands of someone who
- 13:41murdered you know, Jewish people. I'll send you the backstory on those pins
- 13:48that you saw at the Oscars. Those were by the very nature anti Semitic,
- 13:54and I'll tell you why. So can we stop ignoring all these different
- 14:00the damage done in Gaza, the continued rhetoric here on the home front,
- 14:09And if I'm the Israeli government, if I am that in Yahoo, maybe
- 14:13the realization that my goodness, my actions are impacting American Jews safety, and
- 14:22that is on him. Yes, Hamas has rejected deal after deal after deal.
- 14:33But when I say life is bigger than a bracket, these are the
- 14:37hard conversations to have. And no matter how many deals Hamas rejects, not
- 14:43much tyranny. They reign on those people of Palestine. The very nature of
- 14:50what Israel has continued to do with certain wins here, and there is more
- 15:00they're affecting the Jewish population of America and New York City than it is having
- 15:09an effect a positive one on the Israel Hamas War. So Prime Minister Naneahoo
- 15:26will probably be voted out, but more so than that, he needs to
- 15:31come to grips with the fact that what he's doing is affecting only gods and
- 15:37children, but Jewish Americans who are just trying to live life here without being
- 15:45yelled at by an insane free Palestine from the river to sea protester. And
- 15:52and that's not even counting what's going on in the anti sentimatism front on campuses
- 16:00that's also being caused by the academia, if you will, but by the
- 16:08news cycle. And when the new cycle continues to say how bad a Jew's
- 16:12bomb and kasa, the pressures on Jewish students are getting worse. I do
- 16:21believe they are connected. So not only is life bigger than basketball or a
- 16:25bracket, it's bigger than politics. It's affecting your lives across our nation,
- 16:33and it all needs to end, especially in this holy time. So yes,
- 16:42just like we laid the palms for Christ to enter Jerusalem, maybe this
- 16:51Palm Sunday we canna lay the palms for innocent Gosins. We have nothing to
- 16:56do with the Hamas terror attacks and Israel established a better ground game to get
- 17:03their nemesis and the world's nemesis and wipe out Hamas. That's my prayer,
- 17:11this Palm Sunday. Life is bigger than a bracket.
