- 1:23Speaker 5: enough that's like, you know the stuff that that play
- 1:25Speaker 5: was fun.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I got a huge you're not a fun guy.
- 1:30Speaker 6: The touchdowns that they scored in the Super Bowl. I
- 1:31Speaker 6: don't know if you remember this, Mic, I know you
- 1:33Speaker 6: don't tend to remember plays. Now, you don't like football
- 1:35Speaker 6: like I do.
- 1:36Speaker 7: I think an acre is how much one single man
- 1:38Speaker 7: could reasonably.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Plow in a day. I'm pretty sure that's where that
- 1:43Speaker 4: came from.
- 1:43Speaker 8: That's what we're talking about. When you come up with
- 1:46Speaker 8: I'm going.
- 1:46Speaker 6: To live in Tennessee. That was the Alexis thing ever

- 2:12Speaker 3: We're going against Paul right now. He's on the Sports Hub.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So myself, Chris Ferrara in the booth being assisted by Matisse.
- 2:20Speaker 3: So they're trying to figure it out. This is not
- 2:22Speaker 3: Catch twenty two.
- 2:23Speaker 1: There's a lot of scrambling back there and pushing the
- 2:26Speaker 1: buttons and picking up phones and but we're we're here
- 2:29Speaker 1: we're here talking Patriots for the next two hours. We
- 2:33Speaker 1: get the Broncos coming up on Sunday, Sunday night game.
- 2:37Speaker 3: How's the weather is? It's gonna Is it gonna snow?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Possible snow?
- 2:40Speaker 8: Yeah, little weather weather possibly Now.
- 2:42Speaker 1: The day before it was to be pretty warm. So
- 2:45Speaker 1: I gotta imagine that there's this cold front coming through
- 2:49Speaker 1: and that usually caused precipitation.
- 2:51Speaker 3: When it's good for Santa.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It just depends on how cold it gets, whether it's
- 2:55Speaker 1: snow or rain.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But if it gets too cold, would have what do
- 2:58Speaker 3: you get freezing rain?
- 2:59Speaker 1: When you get that, some times it gets too cold
- 3:01Speaker 1: to snow. Yeah, the air dries out and it just
- 3:04Speaker 1: doesn't snow.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Now, if Matt was here, I'm sure you be playing
- 3:06Speaker 3: the what are you a weather man?
- 3:08Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 3:09Speaker 8: So I saw I saw marine walking out with his
- 3:13Speaker 8: sick kid and he goes, yeah, he has an ear infection.
- 3:16Speaker 8: Poor kids, just like holding his ear like this. He goes,
- 3:22Speaker 8: and I was like, oh no, buddy.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Those are the worst infections for kids.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah, my kid had a double once.
- 3:28Speaker 5: The same thing, like you know, you're all your work
- 3:31Speaker 5: day gets thrown upside down is based on schedules and stuff.
- 3:34Speaker 3: But yeah, we've been there.
- 3:35Speaker 8: I mean, it wasn't like funny obviously, but it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Was you just pointed out loser fun Your dad's gotta work.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So what do we got?
- 3:44Speaker 3: Hello? We got to fla k part two? Fred? Unfortunately, God,
- 3:47Speaker 3: are we even going to talk about it? I don't
- 3:48Speaker 3: even know if I want to.
- 3:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I definitely don't.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I don't want to, but I could could.
- 3:54Speaker 1: That at all explain Ryland's miss and also the Denver
- 3:57Speaker 1: Kickers miss who hadn't missed that all season?
- 3:59Speaker 8: That said Mark and Mark Daniels is the one that
- 4:02Speaker 8: had the report and that in the story that was
- 4:05Speaker 8: what they whoever he talked to said that it was
- 4:10Speaker 8: why Bucker and Ryley missed. Yeah, the ball the ball
- 4:13Speaker 8: is short on both kicks or something like that, because
- 4:16Speaker 8: violence went straight up right, it wasn't flying properly. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 8: there wasn't enough air in the ball.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So so that's weird.
- 4:23Speaker 8: Yeah, if I was Harrison Bucker, I'd be pissed. It's
- 4:25Speaker 8: his first miss of the year, so he might.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Why haven't we heard from him yet, Like I'd like
- 4:29Speaker 3: to hear him, right, that.
- 4:30Speaker 8: Might have cost him. Not the guy that's missed half
- 4:32Speaker 8: his kicks. You want to hear from the guy that
- 4:33Speaker 8: hasn't missed, Yeah, me too, you know, like he he
- 4:36Speaker 8: that might have ruined his perfect season, Like he might
- 4:38Speaker 8: have had a perfect season on field goals and they
- 4:40Speaker 8: just ruined him.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And this was just the officials just not pumping up
- 4:44Speaker 1: the ball.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Yeah, the cap, the kate balls don't they're kept under
- 4:49Speaker 5: wraps until the game, so they're responsible for it.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I mean, like the only thing.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Like I'm bump Paul's not here because I would just
- 4:56Speaker 5: love to hear how either a disinterested he is or
- 4:58Speaker 5: you know, his conspiracy theory.
- 4:59Speaker 3: That he tried to figure out.
- 5:01Speaker 5: But I mean, I think, to me, on a year
- 5:02Speaker 5: where the referees have kind of been on the you know,
- 5:05Speaker 5: in the crosshairs, it's just kind of another sign of
- 5:07Speaker 5: you know, not an attention to detail and you know,
- 5:10Speaker 5: them messing up so that the Yeah, but see.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I know I'm going to open up a can of
- 5:18Speaker 1: worms here. But this is what Brady was pissed off about.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Back in the day. He told his guys, if you
- 5:28Speaker 1: bring the rule book in there with them, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: because and show them the minimum amount it can be inflated.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And that's what I want and what would happen is
- 5:39Speaker 1: they get the ball just the way he wanted and
- 5:42Speaker 1: then the rest would go and you know, add a
- 5:45Speaker 1: little bit more. And Brady was like, no, they're not
- 5:47Speaker 1: supposed to do that. You know. That was the whole thing.
- 5:50Speaker 1: It was like, it wasn't breaking the rules, it was
- 5:54Speaker 1: you know, getting the ball to the you know, absolute
- 5:57Speaker 1: minimum and proving to the rest that yes, we can
- 6:00Speaker 1: do this, you know.
- 6:02Speaker 8: So just just to be clear though, that the K
- 6:05Speaker 8: balls and the game balls are separate. They're separate ball, right,
- 6:08Speaker 8: so that the K balls are controlled by the league.
- 6:11Speaker 8: The ball that Brady was using in the twenty fourteen
- 6:13Speaker 8: AFC Championship game is controlled by the Patriots. That was
- 6:16Speaker 8: the problem.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Well, it's it's controlled by the Patriots. But the check
- 6:19Speaker 1: officials check them before the game.
- 6:20Speaker 8: Yeah, but they're those are Each team brings their own balls. Yes,
- 6:24Speaker 8: this is too many references to balls. But the other
- 6:28Speaker 8: thing I would just say is that if you look
- 6:31Speaker 8: up the temperature on Sunday at kickoff in the game
- 6:34Speaker 8: book is fifty three degrees with like seventy percent humidity.
- 6:38Speaker 8: You look up the temperature in the game book of
- 6:41Speaker 8: the twenty fourteen AFC Championship Game, fifty one degrees with
- 6:45Speaker 8: seventy percent humidity. It's almost like fifth grade science could
- 6:48Speaker 8: have explained this thing all along. Yeah, Like, it's the
- 6:51Speaker 8: exact same conditions, it's the exact same issue. They brought
- 6:54Speaker 8: the balls out of the locker room early. The balls
- 6:56Speaker 8: were sitting there, they lost air pressure, and they were
- 6:59Speaker 8: under in plated. Shocker, Like, I can't believe that that's
- 7:03Speaker 8: someone doesn't.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Want to talk about it. You're so passionately.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I never thought we were going to have to discuss
- 7:06Speaker 4: the ideal gas log.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I know that we just ignored that
- 7:10Speaker 3: whole thing.
- 7:11Speaker 8: I want a public apology from Roger Goodell in the
- 7:13Speaker 8: National Football League.
- 7:14Speaker 7: To from Bill Nye, who tried to say that the
- 7:18Speaker 7: Patriots cheated.
- 7:19Speaker 8: No, No, Bill ny was on the Patriots side.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I think I think I have that Atra grind with him.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I don't know. I think he was more Bill. He
- 7:26Speaker 3: was more Bill.
- 7:27Speaker 8: Bill ny was definitely on the Patriots side. He was
- 7:29Speaker 8: explaining the ideal gas a lot of people.
- 7:30Speaker 5: I'm going to be on Alex and I think, I
- 7:32Speaker 5: don't know, I I think and I know what you're
- 7:34Speaker 5: trying to say, but I think he was against He
- 7:35Speaker 5: came out against.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Bill saying Bill's explanation didn't make sense.
- 7:39Speaker 8: Okay, well that's different.
- 7:40Speaker 11: He's sign he did a whole Bill Ny whole thing
- 7:46Speaker 11: was explaining like one oh one what the ideal gas
- 7:49Speaker 11: law was, which is what explains the night of the
- 7:51Speaker 11: twenty fourteen AMC Championship game.
- 7:53Speaker 8: So I don't know how we're anti Okay.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I'm sorry we brought it up. Sorry anyway, that was
- 7:59Speaker 1: just a little thing that came up after the game.
- 8:02Speaker 1: But it was the Patriots that reported this, by the way, right.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd like to hear I mean, as Evan said, like,
- 8:07Speaker 5: I'd like to hear from the Chiefs too, if this
- 8:09Speaker 5: was you know, right well.
- 8:10Speaker 4: In the locker room.
- 8:11Speaker 7: I wasn't in their post game, but was Chad and
- 8:14Speaker 7: Bryce and were they visibly obseved?
- 8:16Speaker 8: Yeah, they were upset about something. That's sort of what
- 8:18Speaker 8: made Mark Daniels I think, start poking around and maybe
- 8:21Speaker 8: one of them told him off the record that this
- 8:23Speaker 8: is what happened, and so he went in and talked
- 8:25Speaker 8: to some more people about it.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it was just I mean, I don't want to
- 8:29Speaker 5: get into it, but yeah, Bill Nye after Bill Belichick
- 8:31Speaker 5: came out and said what he said didn't make any sense,
- 8:33Speaker 5: and I told ABC News Bill like refuted the coach checks.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I don't I we don't need to get into it.
- 8:38Speaker 3: But that's what I was.
- 8:39Speaker 8: I think we were just making different points.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, Bill NY's a Colts fan.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Oh man, I to get it too, like just I mean,
- 8:48Speaker 5: real quick though, like that just ruined it. Like, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 5: you've been trying to get back to the super Bowl
- 8:53Speaker 5: since twenty eleven.
- 8:54Speaker 3: They beat the Colts, I mean they hammer them.
- 8:55Speaker 5: I mean we've all seen the clip of Edelman and
- 8:58Speaker 5: Gronk laughing their ass off about it.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Now ridiculous it was, but you know, you're you're excited.
- 9:03Speaker 5: You're like, oh man, we're finally gonna, you know, go
- 9:05Speaker 5: back after a few years, and you know, this is
- 9:07Speaker 5: the first thing that came out. And being on the
- 9:08Speaker 5: West Coast, you know, I know it was I think
- 9:10Speaker 5: it was a late game, but it was still early
- 9:11Speaker 5: out there, so you know, all of a sudden you
- 9:13Speaker 5: saw what the Bob Kravitz was that who it was.
- 9:15Speaker 3: From the oh yeah, and it was like, oh no,
- 9:18Speaker 3: here we go again. And then you know, you spend
- 9:20Speaker 3: the whole week like well.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And I think if it was like week two of
- 9:22Speaker 1: the season, it wouldn't have been a big deal. But
- 9:24Speaker 1: it was the week before the Super Bowl.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well Week two would have been hot and the ball.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Wouldn't be well yeah, I'm just saying, yeah, it would
- 9:30Speaker 1: have been too well anyway, all right, let's move on. Yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 1: what else? What else do we have to talk about? Ah?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Because I know people don't want to talk about the game.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, people don't want to talk about winning
- 9:40Speaker 3: the game.
- 9:40Speaker 1: But you let's let's talk about one of your I
- 9:43Speaker 1: often do this on Thursday, one of your roundtable questions. Yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 1: worst and best memories playing in Denver.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, I don't know.
- 9:51Speaker 5: I mean, I know it's probably a deep dive for
- 9:52Speaker 5: alex in Tamara because we're we've been doing you know,
- 9:54Speaker 5: these guys forever, but you know, we threw it out there.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 5: Worst memory, I mean, I think that twenty fifteen season
- 10:02Speaker 5: was they were doing great.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Yer worst memory in Denver, I don't know, I'm surprised.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Well, mine was the same year, but it was the
- 10:10Speaker 1: age change in twenty fifteen. It was just such a
- 10:13Speaker 1: frustrating game because Brady was getting his head beaten in.
- 10:17Speaker 1: You know, as I recall, like the offense was hurt.
- 10:21Speaker 1: You know, really you were down to, uh, James, who
- 10:25Speaker 1: is it James.
- 10:26Speaker 5: At the time, James White got a ton of targets
- 10:28Speaker 5: at James White and Gronk, right, yeah, you know, and
- 10:31Speaker 5: they just couldn't get anything going.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And then finally that last drive, Gronk just was a
- 10:38Speaker 1: man possessed, went down the field, they get within two,
- 10:44Speaker 1: they go for the two. Brady looks to Edelman and
- 10:48Speaker 1: Gronk was open. If he had just looked the other way,
- 10:51Speaker 1: he would have had a wide open Gronk, believe it
- 10:53Speaker 1: or not, after that drive and it was unsuccessful, you know,
- 10:57Speaker 1: but it was just a it was just a frustrating you.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Know, there's a lot of there's a lot of them though.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I mean, there's there's Shannon Sharp. We're killing the Patriots.
- 11:05Speaker 5: I mean the reason I brought up in your right,
- 11:06Speaker 5: I mean, they lost TWFC championships there, and it's hard
- 11:08Speaker 5: to say that a regular season game was worse than that.
- 11:10Speaker 3: And I was just kind of going off the cuff.
- 11:12Speaker 5: There, but I will say that, like everything was going
- 11:15Speaker 5: great until that Harpers off. I mean, it and had
- 11:18Speaker 5: they won that game, they probably would have been playing
- 11:20Speaker 5: then that AFC Championship in New England, and you know,
- 11:23Speaker 5: it just kind of felt like, you know, so, so
- 11:26Speaker 5: you don't always have a moment during a season when
- 11:28Speaker 5: he felt this is where it all went wrong.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And they went in ten and oh and then they
- 11:31Speaker 1: lost for their last six games. It just broke them
- 11:34Speaker 1: for some reason.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 8: So, I mean, I guess I chucked that season up
- 11:37Speaker 8: to Dean Lewis getting hurt, like you know, gets to
- 11:41Speaker 8: their offense was unstoppable. But my worst memory by far
- 11:45Speaker 8: is two thousand and five Divisional round. I mean, it's
- 11:47Speaker 8: not even close. It's a great I had never experienced
- 11:50Speaker 8: losing before as a Patriots fan. I was, you know,
- 11:52Speaker 8: only like eight or nine years old when they Brady
- 11:55Speaker 8: took over as the quarterback, so like that was his
- 11:58Speaker 8: first playoff loss. I well, I don't even know how
- 12:01Speaker 8: I woke up the next morning, Like I was dejected
- 12:03Speaker 8: because I had no idea how to handle it. And
- 12:06Speaker 8: it's a touchback. It will always be a touchback, and
- 12:09Speaker 8: it's still a touch back to this day. So that's
- 12:11Speaker 8: by far. But I was trying to think of, like
- 12:12Speaker 8: my best memory, it's kind of.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Hard like they the comeback, well the safety game, but
- 12:17Speaker 1: you were maybe been too young.
- 12:19Speaker 8: Yeah, but they've lost a lot of really big games
- 12:21Speaker 8: in Denver, so I can't really think of like any
- 12:24Speaker 8: good ones in Denver.
- 12:25Speaker 3: In Denver, I mean here, it would be the thirteen comeback.
- 12:28Speaker 8: Yeah, That's that's what I put because I was at
- 12:31Speaker 8: that game and that was a great game. And then
- 12:33Speaker 8: I think it was fun to kill Tim Tebow, but
- 12:36Speaker 8: like it wasn't like really like that exciting and that
- 12:38Speaker 8: those were both here.
- 12:39Speaker 1: So I was here, right, you know, there was a
- 12:44Speaker 1: game I think it was one where the Patriots lost,
- 12:47Speaker 1: but it was a game in which they realized we
- 12:50Speaker 1: can beat this team, like we only beat ourselves today,
- 12:53Speaker 1: but we're a better team than Denver. That was an one. Yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 1: and I think they hadn't won there in a long time,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and they didn't win that game, but they all came
- 13:03Speaker 1: out of that games thinking we're not that bad that
- 13:07Speaker 1: we could beat this team.
- 13:08Speaker 3: The one podcast we did, yeah, a lot of those
- 13:10Speaker 3: guys talked about that.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and then you know, even before the nineteen
- 13:14Speaker 1: ninety eight that was the first first ever post game
- 13:19Speaker 1: live video streaming show, and we did that under the
- 13:22Speaker 1: stands at the old Mile High Stadium.
- 13:24Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, I mean so the Hall actually tweeted this yesterday.
- 13:28Speaker 8: Their record in Denver is bad overall, eleven and twenty
- 13:32Speaker 8: one in Denver all time. They lost eleven games in
- 13:36Speaker 8: a row at one point in Denver from sixty nine
- 13:38Speaker 8: to ninety eight, and then post two thousand, they're still
- 13:41Speaker 8: only five and seven. Yeah in Mile High.
- 13:43Speaker 1: So it's a house of horror. Yeah, it's rocky horror.
- 13:47Speaker 8: It's not been great.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I evn't brought up the five. I mean that game.
- 13:50Speaker 5: To me, that was probably like my moment of when
- 13:53Speaker 5: I started kind of on this path because I was
- 13:55Speaker 5: same thing. I was so dejected by that loss and
- 13:58Speaker 5: the realization of all right, we got Belichick and Brady,
- 14:01Speaker 5: like we have a finite amount of time with these
- 14:03Speaker 5: two guys, Like how how can we maximize it?
- 14:05Speaker 3: You know?
- 14:05Speaker 5: And that was really that was when I started getting
- 14:07Speaker 5: into like patsfans dot com message boards and blogging and
- 14:11Speaker 5: starting to write about the team and develop own opinions
- 14:13Speaker 5: and stuff like that.
- 14:14Speaker 3: That loss like it would.
- 14:18Speaker 1: And I think there's like little moments in all of
- 14:21Speaker 1: those games. They were all a lot of them were
- 14:23Speaker 1: just weird games, you know. I just remember uh uh
- 14:29Speaker 1: Chad Brown getting folded in half in Denver, like I
- 14:32Speaker 1: never saw anyone get hit. Like his ankles were up
- 14:35Speaker 1: by his forehead. He was just literally folded in half.
- 14:38Speaker 1: He got hit so hard. I remember who was the
- 14:44Speaker 1: great guard that we had Mankins on his knees in
- 14:48Speaker 1: front of an offensive lineman just hauling off and just
- 14:50Speaker 1: punching him in the in the nuts like it Like
- 14:53Speaker 1: it wasn't even like trying to hide it. He just
- 14:56Speaker 1: like reared back. It sounds like I remember Vince Wilford
- 15:00Speaker 1: going like from his middle nose position all the way
- 15:03Speaker 1: to the sideline to make that tackle, which was just
- 15:06Speaker 1: an amazing athletic performance. And of course you know Ben
- 15:10Speaker 1: Watson chasing that guy down Champ Bay. Yeah, nine yards
- 15:14Speaker 1: touch back.
- 15:15Speaker 5: I got a question this a little bit of a side,
- 15:17Speaker 5: but do you feel like and you you you usually
- 15:19Speaker 5: go to all the games, but do you feel like
- 15:20Speaker 5: you remember the games better? Like, cause I get a split, like,
- 15:22Speaker 5: do you feel like me remember games better if you're
- 15:24Speaker 5: there in person or if you watch them on TV?
- 15:27Speaker 5: Like sometimes I feel like I remember the away games
- 15:29Speaker 5: that we watch here in the studio better because they're
- 15:32Speaker 5: kind of narrated for you.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yeah, the live games, it's it's harder to like.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Because a lot of times people call in and be like, oh,
- 15:37Speaker 5: the announcers pointed out this, and like, I don't we're
- 15:39Speaker 5: not listening to the announcers.
- 15:41Speaker 8: That happens a lot because I'm like obviously tweeting about
- 15:44Speaker 8: the game and like more like the x's and O stuff,
- 15:46Speaker 8: and that was so much quicker, and people will like
- 15:48Speaker 8: tweet at me being like, well Tony Romo said this,
- 15:51Speaker 8: and I was like, well, I'm not listening to Tony Romo,
- 15:53Speaker 8: so I don't know what Tony Romo said, but I
- 15:56Speaker 8: I feel like, you know, in my house, like Patriots
- 15:59Speaker 8: games as a fan and was it was like a
- 16:02Speaker 8: big deal, like we you know, we'd have big dinners
- 16:05Speaker 8: or meals with it, and lots of people would come
- 16:07Speaker 8: over and things like that. So like the the two
- 16:10Speaker 8: thousand and five divisional game, like we had a packed house,
- 16:13Speaker 8: like we had like a full house, like we have
- 16:15Speaker 8: a bunch of food, like, you know, cause we thought
- 16:17Speaker 8: they were just gonna win another super Bowl, like like
- 16:19Speaker 8: what did we know? And uh, and and then they lose,
- 16:22Speaker 8: and like it's just you know, I just will never forget,
- 16:24Speaker 8: like the room like after that game and everybody just
- 16:27Speaker 8: kind of shuffling out and to go home and you
- 16:29Speaker 8: know whatever, and and uh yeah, So I I feel
- 16:32Speaker 8: like I remember the games as a fan like that
- 16:35Speaker 8: because I watched them, you know, most of my father
- 16:37Speaker 8: and like my sister and like my family and like
- 16:40Speaker 8: so those do stick out a little bit more like
- 16:42Speaker 8: I miss being able to do that.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I mean, I can't think of any other place that
- 16:46Speaker 1: has had that many bad things happen, you know, like.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Baltimiami there in Miami.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Baltimore, we've had Miami. That's another one, of course, of course.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yeah, those are those are the two Buckebooths of of you.
- 16:58Speaker 8: Know, Patriots, the dynasty.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Right, no matter what team they had those places. And
- 17:02Speaker 5: I mean are other teams like that too? Is that
- 17:04Speaker 5: is it always hard to play for everybody in Miami.
- 17:06Speaker 8: Or no, but other other Like every team has like
- 17:09Speaker 8: that thrown in the side, right, Like every every team
- 17:13Speaker 8: I feel like has that, but the Dolphins. I mean,
- 17:16Speaker 8: the Patriots lost, have lost to the Dolphins when they've
- 17:19Speaker 8: had much better teams. Oh, Miami, Like yeah, even recently,
- 17:23Speaker 8: you know.
- 17:23Speaker 3: So yeah, that eighteen team that was eighteen.
- 17:26Speaker 8: Nineteen had like it was week seventeen and nineteen, like
- 17:30Speaker 8: a terrible Miami team.
- 17:31Speaker 5: After beating them, like well, I mean just rolling them
- 17:33Speaker 5: that we two here with that was down there, down there,
- 17:37Speaker 5: but with Antonio Brown, the Antonio Brown game.
- 17:40Speaker 1: All right, eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 17:42Speaker 1: ACE ticket hotline? Web radio at Patriots dot com is
- 17:45Speaker 1: the email address? All crazy? Oh, there we go, something's
- 17:50Speaker 1: happening branding. Let's let's go to the phones because we've
- 17:55Speaker 1: got a hurry. Paul's not here. We got so you're
- 17:58Speaker 1: going to handle the picks?
- 17:59Speaker 3: Sure, am, I got? I'm ready to go?
- 18:00Speaker 1: And do you have what happened last week? No?
- 18:03Speaker 5: Wait, okay, yeah I do. I okay, no, I actually yes,
- 18:07Speaker 5: I do.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I apologize.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I know this is going to take a little longer
- 18:09Speaker 1: than it usually.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's okay.
- 18:11Speaker 8: We have a lot of problems with picks today because
- 18:13Speaker 8: we don't have Paul, and then practice is at like
- 18:16Speaker 8: one forty for some reason today, so I have you
- 18:18Speaker 8: may not get back and I'm not going to be
- 18:20Speaker 8: back in time, and I'm probably not going to be
- 18:22Speaker 8: here when we normally do picks, so it's just going
- 18:24Speaker 8: to be a mess.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we do picks earlier.
- 18:27Speaker 1: You'll have to give Deuce your pick your pick.
- 18:29Speaker 8: I'll give my picks. I make my picks, though everybody's
- 18:31Speaker 8: gonna say I cheated.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Man.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Let's go to the phones. The A sticket hut line?
- 18:36Speaker 1: Tyreek is in Charleston? Is that Charlestown, Charleston, South Carolina? Whiche?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Where are you from? I'm in Charleston in the Carolinas
- 18:46Speaker 1: or yeah, Carolina sounds good?
- 18:49Speaker 3: Cool?
- 18:50Speaker 12: All right, good to speak with you, guys. I hate
- 18:53Speaker 12: to bring this up, but I got two questions for
- 18:55Speaker 12: you guys.
- 18:56Speaker 13: Is when we look back, if Bill does leave.
- 18:59Speaker 12: This team an offseason as say that project players were
- 19:03Speaker 12: the true downfall of this organization. And the second question
- 19:09Speaker 12: is is that is if Bill does stay, will we
- 19:14Speaker 12: look at this draft and say he's not going to
- 19:16Speaker 12: take the consensus best pick if we have a top
- 19:19Speaker 12: ten pick.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I would say no.
- 19:24Speaker 5: I think it's he's missed on the layup the high
- 19:26Speaker 5: end guys. It's not the projects that's hurt them. It's
- 19:28Speaker 5: been missing on first round draft picks and the talented
- 19:31Speaker 5: guys of just those that's the core that's supposed to
- 19:34Speaker 5: be here not you know, I think it's fine to
- 19:36Speaker 5: take flyers on guys, and I'm sure that there's been
- 19:38Speaker 5: some you know.
- 19:39Speaker 3: That some earlier developed better than those later.
- 19:41Speaker 5: But to me, it's like you look at their first
- 19:43Speaker 5: and second round picks going back to twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen,
- 19:46Speaker 5: that tonnage of all those missus building on each other,
- 19:49Speaker 5: and now we're sitting here without a core. We don't
- 19:52Speaker 5: really have many star players that that, to me is
- 19:54Speaker 5: is the biggest issue.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Yeah, I feel like some of the in the recent drafts,
- 19:58Speaker 8: like some of their flyers on three or have actually
- 20:00Speaker 8: been their best picks, like Mike on Winnie, Yeah, probably,
- 20:03Speaker 8: you know, Pop Douglas this year is probably their best
- 20:05Speaker 8: rookie they they've they've actually hit on a few of
- 20:09Speaker 8: those types of guys. I agree with you said. It's
- 20:11Speaker 8: it's the top of the roster guys. You know, Cole Strange,
- 20:13Speaker 8: it's uh, you know, Matt Jones unfortunately now is looking
- 20:16Speaker 8: like one of those misses. So yeah, like those are
- 20:19Speaker 8: the picks that have been killing them. But it just
- 20:22Speaker 8: interesting though, Like I don't trust him, but I don't
- 20:26Speaker 8: know about how you guys feel of like giving Bill
- 20:28Speaker 8: the number two overall pick in the draft and giving
- 20:30Speaker 8: him control of the pick again. You know, like he's
- 20:33Speaker 8: had and I don't necessarily think that he would go
- 20:35Speaker 8: and pick a ut Chattanouga guard again. But like, he's
- 20:39Speaker 8: probably not gonna pick the sexy pick, right, Like it's
- 20:42Speaker 8: not gonna be Marvin Harrison Junior. It's probably gonna be
- 20:44Speaker 8: Olo Fashanu or you know, something like that. And you know,
- 20:47Speaker 8: how would we all feel about that, I guess, or
- 20:49Speaker 8: him taking a defensive player like or something like that.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I just wonder how it all feeds into what.
- 20:54Speaker 5: You know, we talked about what he would say, what
- 20:56Speaker 5: his pitch would be to the Crafts and essentially would
- 20:58Speaker 5: be boiled down to, I don't a quarterback.
- 21:00Speaker 3: You know, we didn't get good quarterback play.
- 21:02Speaker 5: So does that you know, if that was the case,
- 21:05Speaker 5: would that mean he had to take a quarterback or
- 21:07Speaker 5: you know, I just I don't know.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Maybe I mean, maybe he you.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Know, he's takes a tackle, you know, despite him sometimes
- 21:13Speaker 1: saying I don't know or I don't remember, he's got
- 21:16Speaker 1: a photographic memory when it comes to this stuff. And
- 21:18Speaker 1: I'm sure that he could sit down with the exception
- 21:20Speaker 1: of the Cowboys in the Saints game, probably tell Robert
- 21:23Speaker 1: Kraft the key points in each game where they could
- 21:26Speaker 1: have won or lost it and you know, whether it
- 21:29Speaker 1: was a turnover or whatever, and show how close they
- 21:34Speaker 1: were to winning some of those games, you know. And
- 21:38Speaker 1: but it goes beyond that. It goes beyond just the thing.
- 21:41Speaker 5: I mean, just like even something as simple as like
- 21:44Speaker 5: this year with the special teams, like we just kind
- 21:46Speaker 5: of shifted Joe Judge over there and it made no
- 21:48Speaker 5: difference at all. Like, you know, those are the kind
- 21:50Speaker 5: of things that like, like it's not just like the
- 21:53Speaker 5: big pieces, it's like these little moves that haven't paid off.
- 21:56Speaker 5: And you know, I don't want to get on Adrian
- 21:58Speaker 5: klemb I don't know, you know what he's dealing with,
- 21:59Speaker 5: but it's you know, these a lot of these moves
- 22:01Speaker 5: didn't work out. You weren't able to get past all
- 22:04Speaker 5: the problems you had last year, and I mean, I
- 22:06Speaker 5: just I still think last year was just the travesty
- 22:09Speaker 5: that was you know, that whole situation with the offense, and.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Then there's a lot of things that we don't even
- 22:13Speaker 1: know about. You know, like like it's kind of coming
- 22:16Speaker 1: out now that you know, Malie Cunningham really did have
- 22:19Speaker 1: a lot of guys who were wondering, how come he's
- 22:21Speaker 1: not playing, you know, things like that, and yeah, you know.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I don't you don't remember that stuff coming out before,
- 22:27Speaker 3: Like I.
- 22:27Speaker 7: Know Sophie about this year, it just feels like not
- 22:31Speaker 7: that that was a leak, because Sophie literally got it
- 22:34Speaker 7: in locker, right, but just all the leaks this year,
- 22:37Speaker 7: all just the narratives coming out from unnamed sources, and
- 22:40Speaker 7: it's just so different.
- 22:41Speaker 4: We've never really dealt with this.
- 22:42Speaker 5: And it's because it's a three win season two and
- 22:44Speaker 5: it's like it's what happened, no balls, and it falls apart.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I mean, I mean I said it, you know, to
- 22:49Speaker 5: the guys. I mean I don't really ever remember. You know,
- 22:51Speaker 5: I usually get in here about eight fifteen, eight thirty
- 22:53Speaker 5: somewhere in there, and you know, there's just been multiple
- 22:55Speaker 5: times this year where there are guys like honking behind
- 22:58Speaker 5: me to get through the gate because I'm assuming they
- 22:59Speaker 5: got an eight thirty meeting and everybody.
- 23:01Speaker 3: You know, what happened in the day is of first one,
- 23:03Speaker 3: first last one.
- 23:04Speaker 1: You're on time, you're like you're late, right, and.
- 23:06Speaker 5: These are like you know, and I I mean, I've
- 23:08Speaker 5: always this has been my schedule. I don't I don't
- 23:10Speaker 5: ever recall like, oh my gosh, there's like six cars
- 23:12Speaker 5: just come flying into.
- 23:13Speaker 3: The parking lot like at eight twenty eight, you know,
- 23:16Speaker 3: trying to get in. So it's it's a lot of stuff.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I mean, I can't say I'm surprised.
- 23:19Speaker 5: This is what you kind of expect to have happen,
- 23:21Speaker 5: is people start to talk, people start to get disengaged,
- 23:24Speaker 5: and it slowly just kind of.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Said this, So what do you say about it?
- 23:27Speaker 8: And I like, I wonder, you know, we talked so much,
- 23:30Speaker 8: and I talk so much about like personnel and x's
- 23:33Speaker 8: and o's and all this kind of stuff. Like special teams,
- 23:36Speaker 8: I think is a great example of this, Like how
- 23:38Speaker 8: much of that is just buy it? Like in special
- 23:40Speaker 8: teams is not like you're not reinventing the wheel on
- 23:42Speaker 8: special team team, right, It's just like this is what
- 23:45Speaker 8: we do. This is what every other team does, and
- 23:47Speaker 8: like you have to go and cover this punt and
- 23:50Speaker 8: teams that you know in the past with the Patriots
- 23:53Speaker 8: that have had great special teams, how much of that
- 23:54Speaker 8: was just because they knew that, like one play on
- 23:57Speaker 8: special teams could win them a super Bowl. Whereas now
- 24:00Speaker 8: it's like, okay, we're three and eleven. Who gives a
- 24:02Speaker 8: crap about covering this kick right now? And I think
- 24:05Speaker 8: that those like buy in things are are Maybe it
- 24:08Speaker 8: was a sense of pride, Yeah, like that, that's maybe
- 24:11Speaker 8: number one over all the other stuff.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Well, I heard on one of Paul's shows this morning
- 24:15Speaker 1: they were talking about all on it. No, you know,
- 24:19Speaker 1: will you regret it if Bill goes to another team
- 24:23Speaker 1: and has success? And in my opinion, no, I wouldn't
- 24:28Speaker 1: because I hope that he goes and has success. It's
- 24:31Speaker 1: just not going to happen here. Yeah, it's just you know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's washed up, but I think that
- 24:37Speaker 1: the situation here has been played out, and I think
- 24:41Speaker 1: it's good for him to move on, just like in
- 24:44Speaker 1: Brady's mind it was good for him to move on.
- 24:47Speaker 5: You know, it's become a common refrain that I've heard
- 24:50Speaker 5: a lot. I got to admit it kind of annoys me.
- 24:52Speaker 5: It's just time.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's just time, that's what got You know it when
- 24:56Speaker 1: you see it, You know it when you see it.
- 24:58Speaker 8: But I also just I don't get the regrets thing
- 25:01Speaker 8: of like, you know, if he goes on and wins
- 25:02Speaker 8: the Super Bowl else like, who cares? Like it's he's
- 25:04Speaker 8: not the right coach, but he wasn't gonna do what
- 25:06Speaker 8: he makes?
- 25:07Speaker 7: You wonder though, like why not? Where's the disconnect? Why
- 25:10Speaker 7: did it fall apart?
- 25:11Speaker 1: Why? I don't know, well written, you know, we'll find
- 25:14Speaker 1: out more and down the road.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Maybe as soon as this February with the dynasty, Like that's.
- 25:19Speaker 8: Is why I have my doubts of him going on
- 25:22Speaker 8: and being super successful elsewhere though too is you know,
- 25:24Speaker 8: I've been asking around the locker room a little bit
- 25:27Speaker 8: about Drod Mayo, just like what kind of coaches he
- 25:29Speaker 8: you know, what what makes him a good coach? Because
- 25:31Speaker 8: if he is the next head coach of the Patriots,
- 25:33Speaker 8: you know, I want to try to know as much
- 25:35Speaker 8: as I can about him. And I think a lot
- 25:37Speaker 8: of players I've spoken to have said that have pointed
- 25:42Speaker 8: to other situations around the league and some of these
- 25:44Speaker 8: younger head coaches and how their buildings are being run.
- 25:49Speaker 8: And one player mentioned to me that he has a
- 25:52Speaker 8: former college teammate that plays for the Dolphins and he
- 25:55Speaker 8: said that, you know the stories that this guy tells
- 25:57Speaker 8: him about McDaniel and how loose and how like fun
- 26:01Speaker 8: he is to be around, and just like how just
- 26:04Speaker 8: like quirky he is, and like just how laid back
- 26:08Speaker 8: it is. He's like, you know, it's not that they
- 26:09Speaker 8: don't get down to business when they need to get
- 26:11Speaker 8: down to business, but it's just it's easier to play
- 26:15Speaker 8: for him. And that's how a lot of the guys
- 26:18Speaker 8: talk about Girod is that like he's a player's coach,
- 26:21Speaker 8: and he has that sort of pulse of like I
- 26:25Speaker 8: wouldn't want to be a drill sergeant either, like playing
- 26:28Speaker 8: for that. So I think that for better or worse,
- 26:30Speaker 8: you know, there's a lot of these modern athletes really
- 26:33Speaker 8: are gearing themselves more towards the McDaniel people.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Did you see the clip I'm just where he's given
- 26:41Speaker 1: the talk. I thought it was good, like the accountability
- 26:45Speaker 1: part of it. I thought, it's to me, it's a
- 26:47Speaker 1: little off putting with all the swearing, like I don't
- 26:49Speaker 1: think he needs to do that. It didn't seem to me.
- 26:52Speaker 1: It was distracting when he swore. Otherwise, I thought it
- 26:55Speaker 1: was a great message, like I'm gonna call really bad plays,
- 27:00Speaker 1: gonna be on me and I'm gonna screw up. But
- 27:02Speaker 1: don't get mad, don't get sad, just move on. You know,
- 27:05Speaker 1: good play, bad play, next play.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Just just some context.
- 27:08Speaker 5: So this is from Hard Knocks and season Hard Knocks,
- 27:10Speaker 5: and it's and it's one of my favorite stuff to
- 27:12Speaker 5: watch is when the coach is actually talking to the
- 27:14Speaker 5: team and McDaniels, you know, come up and and and
- 27:17Speaker 5: like Fred said, taking responsibility but you know, putting a
- 27:19Speaker 5: play up and basically ripping himself on the film, which
- 27:23Speaker 5: you know, I think you respect, but I totally agree
- 27:25Speaker 5: with you.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Like, why is he just like it's just every other
- 27:27Speaker 1: word and yeah, it's like he's trying to fit in.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I know, yeah, well yeah, yeah.
- 27:32Speaker 4: That's what it comes down to.
- 27:33Speaker 7: I think, especially as the season's gone on, he's got
- 27:35Speaker 7: in so much attention this year, like at this point
- 27:37Speaker 7: he kind of knows.
- 27:37Speaker 4: What he's doing.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, I mean, he's a he's a great coach.
- 27:40Speaker 5: I just uh, you know, I think the interesting thing
- 27:42Speaker 5: with him is are they gonna, you know, be able
- 27:44Speaker 5: to kind of change the narrative. They're well aware of
- 27:46Speaker 5: what the narrative is, do you see two will get
- 27:48Speaker 5: up and be like, you want to say that I'm
- 27:49Speaker 5: nothing without Tarik saying I don't care, like I'm just
- 27:51Speaker 5: here to do my job, you know.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I mean, I I like how to ha handled it.
- 27:54Speaker 5: But at the end of the day, you guys got
- 27:56Speaker 5: to go out and win, and you're gonna have to
- 27:57Speaker 5: unless you get home field, you're gonna have to go
- 27:59Speaker 5: into you know, on a waste stadium and win probably
- 28:02Speaker 5: in kind of harsh condition against you know, do you
- 28:04Speaker 5: have that toughness or you kind of you know, like
- 28:06Speaker 5: your coach when everything's going great, it's great, and.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Then there's the test if that keeps happening of whether
- 28:13Speaker 1: or not McDaniel's style works. Yes, when you're right, when
- 28:19Speaker 1: you're in front, you know, okay, But.
- 28:22Speaker 8: I just think that you know, they mentioned McDaniel because
- 28:26Speaker 8: his college he may play for McDaniel, But he also
- 28:28Speaker 8: mentioned some other of the younger coaches, Damiko Ryans, you know,
- 28:32Speaker 8: so he said, you know, I'm not as familiar, but
- 28:34Speaker 8: like that's what I've heard, you know, just from talking
- 28:36Speaker 8: to guy you know, friends and stuff around the league
- 28:38Speaker 8: that you know, these younger coaches just take a much
- 28:40Speaker 8: different approach. To criticism, to schedule, to all of it.
- 28:47Speaker 8: And I just wonder if if Bill hasn't isn't going
- 28:51Speaker 8: to be able to adapt to that sort of culture,
- 28:53Speaker 8: Like it's not the way it was twenty years ago
- 28:56Speaker 8: when you could be a drill sergeant with these guys,
- 28:58Speaker 8: or you can get up there and you know, guys
- 29:01Speaker 8: on the in front of the entire team and have
- 29:03Speaker 8: everybody be okay with that.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Like, and I wouldn't be surprised if, you know, if
- 29:07Speaker 1: he did go to another team, if he didn't change up.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Like when you're here, it's hard to change up because
- 29:13Speaker 1: like this is who I am. I'm not gonna, like
- 29:14Speaker 1: all of a sudden become a different guy here. But
- 29:16Speaker 1: when you go to a new place, it's a fresh
- 29:19Speaker 1: start and maybe you can adjust a little bit better,
- 29:22Speaker 1: you know, with these this new team and new players.
- 29:25Speaker 8: Yeah, what I always wonder with hard Knocks. Did you
- 29:26Speaker 8: see the clip of him like saying one play drive,
- 29:29Speaker 8: one play drive. So he's like on the sideline, was
- 29:32Speaker 8: before Jalen Wattles touchdown this past week, and he Tyreek
- 29:36Speaker 8: is like standing in street clothes on the sideline and
- 29:38Speaker 8: McDaniel goes up to Tyreek, and he's like, I got
- 29:41Speaker 8: I just got a feeling that like this is gonna
- 29:42Speaker 8: be a one play drive like that. And then he
- 29:45Speaker 8: just looks at him and he just goes. I said,
- 29:47Speaker 8: a feeling like that with Wattle is just gonna this
- 29:49Speaker 8: is gonna just be a touchdown to Wattle.
- 29:50Speaker 14: What do you say?
- 29:51Speaker 4: He's like a manifesting Yeah.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:53Speaker 8: And then the very next play, sixty yard touchdown to
- 29:55Speaker 8: Jalen Wattle. So like, is that was that editing?
- 29:59Speaker 1: Like they like, well, that's the NFL films? Does that
- 30:02Speaker 1: all right?
- 30:02Speaker 8: So do they clip that from like a different part
- 30:04Speaker 8: of the game.
- 30:05Speaker 5: And then it just seems like Daniel humor to like
- 30:08Speaker 5: kind of put that in play, you know what I mean,
- 30:10Speaker 5: Like he's like the next like after it happened, he
- 30:11Speaker 5: would record that to give it to him.
- 30:14Speaker 8: Yeah, but if it because like all had like wild
- 30:17Speaker 8: just runs by his guy. It's not like it was
- 30:19Speaker 8: like some like dressed up player or something like that.
- 30:21Speaker 5: Well that's and that to that point, I mean, and
- 30:22Speaker 5: I've mentioned this to you guys a little bit as
- 30:24Speaker 5: we've talked about you know, we all hope that you know,
- 30:26Speaker 5: they get if they get a new coach that it's
- 30:28Speaker 5: going to be somebody offensive and you know that he's
- 30:31Speaker 5: going to be.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Able to pick a quarterback and be his guy.
- 30:33Speaker 5: But you know, is there something just to be said
- 30:36Speaker 5: for the guys like Tamiko Ryans or maybe someone like
- 30:38Speaker 5: Drame who maybe necessarily isn't an offensive.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Guru, but it's just a guy that that.
- 30:43Speaker 5: People want to follow and that you know that they're
- 30:45Speaker 5: gonna buy what he's selling, you know, And and sure
- 30:48Speaker 5: we'd love to have the you know, the offensive whiz,
- 30:50Speaker 5: but you know, I don't. I don't think that this
- 30:52Speaker 5: means like that every NFL team now needs to have
- 30:55Speaker 5: an offensive head coach. I think, you know, I mean,
- 30:57Speaker 5: maybe he is, but maybe he's also a defensive guy
- 30:59Speaker 5: like likes or you know, you're seeing a little bit
- 31:02Speaker 5: with Antonio Pierce. I know that's a weird situation with
- 31:04Speaker 5: the Raiders, and it's kind of the inmates running the
- 31:06Speaker 5: asylum right now. But you know, you just you see
- 31:09Speaker 5: these guys react to those coaches and you know that
- 31:11Speaker 5: they're going to go out and play hard for them.
- 31:12Speaker 5: And I think that that, you know, is probably the
- 31:14Speaker 5: biggest thing rather than hey we've got the best you
- 31:17Speaker 5: can have the best scheme, but if your guys aren't
- 31:18Speaker 5: going to play for you, it's it's.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Not gonna matter because they're not going to execute.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean owl from Wisconsin is the thing that
- 31:24Speaker 1: sticks with me from McDaniel is actually when they were
- 31:27Speaker 1: blowing someone out and the backup quarterback throws a pick.
- 31:30Speaker 1: McDaniel then goes up to him and says, hey, man,
- 31:33Speaker 1: that's on me. I called a bad play. I couldn't
- 31:35Speaker 1: see Bill doing that in a thousand years.
- 31:38Speaker 5: I agree with no, And I mean, and you know,
- 31:40Speaker 5: when you read between the lines a little bit, I mean,
- 31:41Speaker 5: and Jalen Mills had like a tweet like last week
- 31:43Speaker 5: about like it's amazing what happens when your coaches believe
- 31:46Speaker 5: in you, and I just, you know, I do I
- 31:48Speaker 5: wonder what I mean, everybody's always said, anybody that's played
- 31:51Speaker 5: in this building has said it's it's really hard here
- 31:53Speaker 5: and you really have to be into football, and you know,
- 31:55Speaker 5: I and I just wonder as time has progressed if
- 31:58Speaker 5: there's because I do think there are still guys that
- 32:00Speaker 5: appreciate that. Like I think Gibral Peppers is like, fine,
- 32:03Speaker 5: he doesn't need a pat on the back. He wants
- 32:05Speaker 5: somebody who's gonna, you know, get him motivated and tell
- 32:07Speaker 5: him what needs to be done. And you know, but
- 32:09Speaker 5: I just wonder if if it shifted a little bit
- 32:11Speaker 5: and now there's a more majority of players who are
- 32:14Speaker 5: like I just wish coach was nice to me, and
- 32:16Speaker 5: then I play hard.
- 32:17Speaker 1: For I know, but you know, like say saying I
- 32:20Speaker 1: called a bad play but we won, you know, is
- 32:24Speaker 1: but if you start losing a lot, then.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Me again, guys, yeah, you know, coach.
- 32:30Speaker 1: You can't do that. You know, you can't do that.
- 32:33Speaker 1: So it's it's.
- 32:34Speaker 3: A fine line.
- 32:35Speaker 1: And I think at the bottom line, for a head coaches,
- 32:38Speaker 1: they have to be true to themselves and honest, they
- 32:41Speaker 1: can't be some they can't be you know, they have
- 32:44Speaker 1: to be themselves because yeah, people see right through that.
- 32:47Speaker 8: But but so the Jets are on hard knocks at
- 32:49Speaker 8: the normal time in the summertime, and like Robert Sola
- 32:52Speaker 8: came off a little bit performative too, So I wonder
- 32:54Speaker 8: how much of that is just editing and they know
- 32:56Speaker 8: they're on camera, like.
- 32:58Speaker 3: It can't help but change a little bit when cameras.
- 33:00Speaker 8: Are Yeah, yeah, but I was talking to My problem
- 33:04Speaker 8: is I don't change to Jabriel about Gerard Mayo too,
- 33:07Speaker 8: and he you know, he said that like the the
- 33:10Speaker 8: two things that he looks at for in a head
- 33:12Speaker 8: coach are great motivator and great teacher, Like those are
- 33:16Speaker 8: the two big things. And like to your point, he
- 33:18Speaker 8: didn't say like great x as and O's guy, right,
- 33:21Speaker 8: he didn't say, you know, great schemeer, great game planner.
- 33:25Speaker 8: So maybe the best motivator and teacher is not an
- 33:28Speaker 8: offensive coach, Like maybe that is Gerrod Mao, maybe that
- 33:31Speaker 8: is you know, well.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Ourselves told me, you know, coaching is teaching, That's what
- 33:36Speaker 1: it is.
- 33:36Speaker 5: I mean, you know clearly, you know, Kyle Shanahan I
- 33:39Speaker 5: would say, has both. You know, it seems Sean McVay
- 33:41Speaker 5: for a while at least, I mean, his guys all
- 33:43Speaker 5: really you know, seem to play for him. And I
- 33:46Speaker 5: mean I think just you know, part of it is
- 33:48Speaker 5: is the next generation of younger coaches that I.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Mean, they just they can't help. I mean, Bill's my
- 33:52Speaker 3: dad's age, you know.
- 33:53Speaker 8: It's yeah, And I think Bill is probably his best
- 33:57Speaker 8: trade is his ability to teach the game. Like I
- 33:59Speaker 8: think that's what really I wish that we could like
- 34:02Speaker 8: showcase that more because that's by far like what he's
- 34:06Speaker 8: the best at, which is why I think he's been
- 34:08Speaker 8: so good and more than any of the other I.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Tell the story all the time when he came in
- 34:12Speaker 1: ninety six as a defensive assistant for Parcels and it
- 34:16Speaker 1: was we're at training camp in Bryant and Lawyer Malloy
- 34:20Speaker 1: was holding court and he said, this guy's a genius,
- 34:23Speaker 1: you know, and he just met him because the way
- 34:25Speaker 1: he makes it so easy to understand he's a genius.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And that always stuck with me, you know, Like Looyer,
- 34:32Speaker 1: Malloy was a guy. Lawyer Molloy was a guy who
- 34:35Speaker 1: always spoke his mind. Like if you cut a guy
- 34:37Speaker 1: and he didn't like it, he'd circle.
- 34:39Speaker 8: Back and cute and tell you so.
- 34:41Speaker 1: But like, you know that that's stuck with me, and
- 34:45Speaker 1: I've heard it from a lot of players since, that
- 34:48Speaker 1: you understand what you have to do when you play
- 34:51Speaker 1: for Bill Belichick. He makes it very clear to you
- 34:54Speaker 1: what your responsibility is and what the expectation is for you,
- 34:58Speaker 1: and then it's up to you to do it.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, he's gonna be honest with you too. Yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 3: that's part of it.
- 35:03Speaker 5: I don't I always balked at the genius thing, and
- 35:06Speaker 5: it's interesting hearing it like come from lawyer Malloy's mouth.
- 35:08Speaker 5: But like, you know, I just I think some of
- 35:10Speaker 5: it was Bill was unfairly saddled with he's a genius.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Well, his own dad said, genius, all you do is
- 35:15Speaker 1: walk up and down the sideline. It's his father.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Well, and that's the standard that I think people some
- 35:19Speaker 5: people hold him to, and it's like.
- 35:21Speaker 1: He's just a football coach, like well, I think within
- 35:23Speaker 1: the confines of football, he's a genius football. We understand
- 35:26Speaker 1: his IQ for football is out of this world. Yeah,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I think I think overall he's he's a really really
- 35:31Speaker 1: intelligent person, you know, like he's a smart guy.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Well, you see with the history, I think that's as
- 35:35Speaker 5: close as you really get consistently, other than as I
- 35:38Speaker 5: brought up a billion times, the the O nine doc
- 35:40Speaker 5: where you actually got to see film of Bill talking
- 35:42Speaker 5: to the team, and you know, there's no filter. It's
- 35:44Speaker 5: you know, everything we hear through the media's is filtered.
- 35:46Speaker 5: And you know, I understand and I respect that, but
- 35:49Speaker 5: you know, there's just it's cool when you hear about
- 35:51Speaker 5: what what buttons he's actually you know, trying to push
- 35:53Speaker 5: showing old boxing matches or old horse races or you know,
- 35:57Speaker 5: all those different kind of techniques that that I really
- 36:00Speaker 5: just enjoyed that Jackleton. I mean, those are the things
- 36:03Speaker 5: that I really enjoy about about the coaching profession and
- 36:06Speaker 5: just you know, trying to get I mean, this is
- 36:08Speaker 5: how I always put it. I have one year coaching
- 36:09Speaker 5: club hockey. But it's it's really hard to get a
- 36:12Speaker 5: bunch of individuals to play together the way you want
- 36:15Speaker 5: them as a team. It's it's you don't you don't
- 36:17Speaker 5: know what buttons to push, kids are in line, out
- 36:19Speaker 5: of line, you don't know.
- 36:20Speaker 3: And it's a it's a really really hard job to do.
- 36:23Speaker 3: And I mean I respect those who do it.
- 36:26Speaker 1: All right, let's get back to the phones. Let's go
- 36:28Speaker 1: to Arthur in New York. What's up, Arthur.
- 36:32Speaker 15: How's it going, guys?
- 36:34Speaker 1: Okay?
- 36:35Speaker 15: The first thing I wanted to say was, I think
- 36:37Speaker 15: Belichick is an absolute home run with the special teams
- 36:41Speaker 15: this year. Baringer is I think I just saw leading
- 36:44Speaker 15: the Pro Bowl vote and Ryland absolute home run as
- 36:48Speaker 15: he's got us in the top three for a draft pick.
- 36:51Speaker 15: And I absolutely love Jaydan and Daniels. And when you
- 36:54Speaker 15: ask anybody what's the big knock on Jadane Daniels, they
- 36:57Speaker 15: say he's too skinny. He's six three, one hundred and
- 37:00Speaker 15: eighty pounds. If that's the biggest knock on him, then
- 37:03Speaker 15: that's like someone saying on their job application. Though my
- 37:06Speaker 15: worst thing is that I worked too hard, like literally,
- 37:08Speaker 15: and he can gain twenty pounds, that's not the end
- 37:11Speaker 15: of the world. He ran for over two thousand yards
- 37:13Speaker 15: the last two seasons and twenty one touchdowns. So even
- 37:15Speaker 15: if this guy couldn't throw the ball at all, he
- 37:18Speaker 15: is by far the best rusher in the draft, and
- 37:20Speaker 15: that is not a debate. By far the best rusher
- 37:22Speaker 15: in the draft. He throws a beautiful deep ball. He's
- 37:25Speaker 15: gonna have a Zach Wilson like Proda where everyone's like,
- 37:27Speaker 15: oh my god, this guy can absolutely hit these sixty
- 37:30Speaker 15: yard bombs down the field. He threw seventy two percent
- 37:34Speaker 15: completion this year, and he was throwing it deep down
- 37:36Speaker 15: the field.
- 37:36Speaker 12: He wasn't bow.
- 37:37Speaker 15: Nicks in the Oregon offense, who was throwing forty percent
- 37:39Speaker 15: screens behind the line of scrimmage. He was throwing it
- 37:42Speaker 15: consistently down the field. His completion percentage has gone up
- 37:44Speaker 15: three straight seasons. His elite pocket presence, He knows exactly
- 37:47Speaker 15: when to run, exactly went to hang in there and
- 37:50Speaker 15: make a throw.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Agent, No, where do you think he's going to go?
- 37:55Speaker 5: I'm curious where do you think he's going to go
- 37:56Speaker 5: in the draft?
- 37:57Speaker 15: Like I think, I think every year there's a quarterback
- 38:00Speaker 15: that rises late that people aren't expecting. I think he
- 38:04Speaker 15: could go as high as number one. I'm being serious.
- 38:06Speaker 15: I think he could go as highest number one. Just
- 38:09Speaker 15: look at him at it's eighteen years old, as a
- 38:11Speaker 15: true freshman at Arizona, seventeen to college and two interceptions.
- 38:16Speaker 15: He was electric as an eighteen year old freshman. And
- 38:20Speaker 15: if you look at the quarterbacks taken the last five years,
- 38:22Speaker 15: brock Perty in twenty twenty two was the last quarterback taken.
- 38:26Speaker 15: The only time really was twenty twenty one, where Trevor
- 38:28Speaker 15: Lawrence was picked first and we got left with Mac
- 38:31Speaker 15: and Justin Fields and Zak Wilson, where the number one
- 38:33Speaker 15: guy actually ended up being the best quarterback. In twenty twenty,
- 38:36Speaker 15: Jalen Hurst was the fifth quarterback taken. Justin Herbert was
- 38:39Speaker 15: the third quarterback take in twenty nineteen, Kyler Murray was
- 38:41Speaker 15: the first quarterback. Look what he's turned into. In twenty
- 38:44Speaker 15: seventeen they took over and Deshaun Watson in twenty sixteen,
- 38:48Speaker 15: Dak was the eighth quarterback taken. So I see these
- 38:51Speaker 15: people on Twitter what I'm saying. I think Jaydon Danis
- 38:52Speaker 15: would go first. And that's calling me the idiot, Oh.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Idiot.
- 38:57Speaker 15: Tyl Williams is the guy.
- 38:58Speaker 16: Well you don't know that.
- 38:59Speaker 1: No, no, no, thanks for the passion, Arthur. No, I'm
- 39:04Speaker 1: intrigued by him. I've said it a long time ago.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I'm intrigued by Jade and Daniels.
- 39:08Speaker 5: I'd love to fall in love with one of these quarterbacks.
- 39:10Speaker 5: And I mean, I'm just starting to dip my toe
- 39:12Speaker 5: in a little bit here. It's as well, we all
- 39:14Speaker 5: know what I do with the jab. But like I mean,
- 39:15Speaker 5: I just when I talk about these guys, I want
- 39:17Speaker 5: to come from a place of where I don't want
- 39:18Speaker 5: to just read what someone else wrote and spit it
- 39:20Speaker 5: back to somebody, you know, I want to actually But
- 39:22Speaker 5: I hope I could develop that kind of passion. I
- 39:25Speaker 5: just I mean, I throw it kind of at Evan
- 39:26Speaker 5: of Is, Jade and Daniels the kind of quarterback that's
- 39:29Speaker 5: going to fall in that kind of middle area between
- 39:32Speaker 5: the Patriots first two picks where maybe it doesn't quite
- 39:34Speaker 5: make sense to take them in second unless unless you
- 39:36Speaker 5: love him as much.
- 39:36Speaker 1: If you love him, it doesn't matter take him first.
- 39:39Speaker 3: You love them, Yeah, you know, but if.
- 39:41Speaker 5: There's some questions, you know, is it is it the
- 39:43Speaker 5: kind of thing where well, we don't we don't really
- 39:45Speaker 5: want him at two, but he's going to be gone
- 39:46Speaker 5: by thirty three.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but when it comes to quarterback before, if you
- 39:52Speaker 1: like the guy, where you take him shouldn't matter. Like
- 39:55Speaker 1: it's never too soon to take the quarterback you love.
- 39:59Speaker 5: But what if you felt like, look, we could put
- 40:01Speaker 5: Joe alt at left tackle. He day one started, he's
- 40:04Speaker 5: there with Daniels. Oh, it's gonna take some time, it's
- 40:06Speaker 5: gonna take we might not even have them the first year.
- 40:08Speaker 5: I'm just you know, speculating. I don't know, but like
- 40:10Speaker 5: that's the that's where I'm kind of coming from. Then
- 40:12Speaker 5: you don't like him, like it's hard to then you
- 40:14Speaker 5: don't love him, but we think if we but he's
- 40:15Speaker 5: got all the tools, Fred, if we could just get him,
- 40:18Speaker 5: you know, put forty pounds on us, so it is
- 40:21Speaker 5: risks thicker.
- 40:22Speaker 8: I'm not quite as passionate about it as Arthur is,
- 40:25Speaker 8: but I I love Lamar Jackson's my favorite player in
- 40:29Speaker 8: the league. I love Lamar Jackson. And I think Jayden
- 40:32Speaker 8: Daniels is the closest thing I've seen to Lamar since
- 40:35Speaker 8: Lamar at Louisville, Like he is that dynamic. I think
- 40:40Speaker 8: that the because Arthur laid out all the positives about
- 40:43Speaker 8: Jalen Jade and Daniels, I don't really need to go
- 40:45Speaker 8: down that road. I think the negatives with his game.
- 40:49Speaker 8: The size matters because he's gonna have to take a
- 40:53Speaker 8: beating in the NFL. And is he gonna Is he
- 40:55Speaker 8: gonna be able to stay healthy? That's that's a factor,
- 40:58Speaker 8: Like you have to factor that into especially. Yeah, and
- 41:02Speaker 8: if he's gonna run as much as he's gonna have
- 41:05Speaker 8: to run, because that's his skill set, Like you can't
- 41:07Speaker 8: take away his superpower and make him a pocket pass.
- 41:10Speaker 7: And if he puts on the weight you want him
- 41:12Speaker 7: to put on, which one is so much easier said
- 41:14Speaker 7: than done, is he the same runner?
- 41:16Speaker 10: Right?
- 41:16Speaker 8: I'm not interested in him putting on any weight because
- 41:19Speaker 8: I don't want to take away anything from what he's
- 41:21Speaker 8: good at. So what what Lamar has been able to do,
- 41:25Speaker 8: and he's gotten hurt, Like, Lamar has not necessarily been
- 41:29Speaker 8: able to sustain it either. But Lamar is pretty good
- 41:32Speaker 8: at knowing when the journey is over, right, like and
- 41:35Speaker 8: knowing like all right, I'm just gonna slide down or
- 41:38Speaker 8: I'm gonna run out of bounds and I'm gonna avoid
- 41:40Speaker 8: the hits. And he's pretty good at that. And and
- 41:43Speaker 8: I think that that's something that you're gonna have to
- 41:45Speaker 8: develop if you're Jaden Daniels. I think the couple things
- 41:47Speaker 8: that one I disagree with him that he knows when
- 41:51Speaker 8: to run and he knows when to stay in the pocket.
- 41:52Speaker 8: He takes off a little bit too much for my liking.
- 41:55Speaker 8: I think that he's gonna have to learn to sit
- 41:58Speaker 8: in the pocket a little bit more. And the NFL
- 42:01Speaker 8: number two, when he gets to some of these more
- 42:03Speaker 8: sophisticated defenses, he's had trouble with post snap processing, like
- 42:08Speaker 8: you know, when they changed the picture on him and
- 42:10Speaker 8: it starts as single high and then it becomes too high.
- 42:13Speaker 8: And that's what NFL defenses do. The NFL defenses aren't stagnant,
- 42:16Speaker 8: they're constantly moving around, they're constantly disguising. How is he
- 42:20Speaker 8: going to handle those kinds of things?
- 42:22Speaker 1: Are?
- 42:22Speaker 8: You know, Florida State got him on that, Alabama got
- 42:25Speaker 8: him on that a little bit. So those are some
- 42:28Speaker 8: of the things that people are looking at as like
- 42:30Speaker 8: quote unquote knocks. But I he's a first round pick
- 42:33Speaker 8: in my book, Like he's going to be a first
- 42:35Speaker 8: round pick. I think, I think you're crazy if you
- 42:37Speaker 8: if you let him fall out of the first round
- 42:39Speaker 8: as a league, and the league was crazy that they
- 42:41Speaker 8: let Lamar goo Is as late as he did, Like
- 42:43Speaker 8: Lamar should have been much higher. And I just look
- 42:45Speaker 8: at Jayden Daniels and say, we're that much further along
- 42:49Speaker 8: now in terms of value out in QUARTERBA.
- 42:51Speaker 1: But think about Lamar was teams were just afraid that,
- 42:55Speaker 1: you know, if we're going to get him, we got
- 42:57Speaker 1: to change our offense because very few teams had an
- 42:59Speaker 1: offense that suit Lamar Jackson. I give Harbaugh a ton
- 43:02Speaker 1: of credit for doing that. How much would a team
- 43:06Speaker 1: like the Patriots or you know, any other most other
- 43:10Speaker 1: teams have to change their offense if they picked Daniels.
- 43:13Speaker 8: Quite a bit. But I think that you know, just
- 43:16Speaker 8: just to play it out with the Patriots. Like, if
- 43:19Speaker 8: Bill O'Brien is here next year, how much different does
- 43:22Speaker 8: it need to be than the Deshaun Watson offense in
- 43:25Speaker 8: Houston right Like, I don't know if it needs to
- 43:27Speaker 8: be significantly different in terms of that offense, but that's
- 43:31Speaker 8: a lot different than the offense that they're running right now.
- 43:34Speaker 8: I just think that there's so when you look at
- 43:38Speaker 8: like prospects in general, with quarterbacks, especially, like you want
- 43:40Speaker 8: to have an elite trade, like you want to have
- 43:43Speaker 8: something that makes this guy special, and Jading Daniels, no
- 43:47Speaker 8: doubt about it. His mobility is special, Like that is
- 43:50Speaker 8: a special trait that he has as a playmaker. And
- 43:54Speaker 8: I think the rest of it you could probably figure out,
- 43:56Speaker 8: Like I think he's going to be able to figure
- 43:58Speaker 8: it out.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Why is Caleb Williams can considered better than him?
- 44:01Speaker 8: Just like a more natural passer, Like it doesn't look
- 44:05Speaker 8: you know, he's throwing motion, his ability to read defenses,
- 44:08Speaker 8: his ability to win the pocket. I'm just a little
- 44:11Speaker 8: bit more of a natural thrower, probably a little bit
- 44:13Speaker 8: more natural arm talent too. But I like Daniels a lot.
- 44:16Speaker 8: I do not as much as Arthur.
- 44:17Speaker 1: But let's go to Mark in Connecticut. What's up? Mark?
- 44:22Speaker 16: Merry Christmas?
- 44:23Speaker 12: Everybody?
- 44:23Speaker 1: You too?
- 44:24Speaker 13: You I have a thought here, all right? If I'm
- 44:29Speaker 13: the GM, this is what I'm gonna do. Grod Mayo
- 44:33Speaker 13: is going to run the helm. I'm gonna bring in
- 44:36Speaker 13: Kirk Cousins as my quarterback. I'm gonna add T Higgins
- 44:42Speaker 13: as my wide receiver. I'm gonna draft Marvin Harrison Junior.
- 44:47Speaker 13: So now you have two Number one, I'm gonna resign
- 44:49Speaker 13: Kendrick Borne. I'm gonna sign Hunter Henry, and I'll draft
- 44:53Speaker 13: a tight end or pick up another free agent. I'm
- 44:57Speaker 13: gonna draft two tight ends, I mean, I'm sorry, two
- 45:00Speaker 13: offensive linemen to sure up the line. Maybe a running
- 45:04Speaker 13: back as well.
- 45:06Speaker 12: In there?
- 45:06Speaker 13: What are you guys' thoughts on?
- 45:07Speaker 1: So you're going heavy on offense? Damn the Torpedoes.
- 45:14Speaker 8: I don't disagree with the heavy offense approach, like I
- 45:17Speaker 8: have no time for Kirk Cousins, but I other than that,
- 45:22Speaker 8: like I mean, obviously I think some of that is
- 45:24Speaker 8: not going to happen. Simply they're not drafting Marvin Harrison
- 45:27Speaker 8: Junior and paying T. Higgins twenty five million dollars a year,
- 45:30Speaker 8: Like I just unless they are run by somebody completely
- 45:34Speaker 8: different that has nothing to do with Bill Belichick and
- 45:36Speaker 8: has never learned a thing from Bill Belichick in his life.
- 45:39Speaker 8: They're not going to spend two premium premium assets on receivers.
- 45:44Speaker 8: I just don't see that happening.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but in terms of money, but that's what you
- 45:48Speaker 1: need though, Yeah, in terms of money in four years,
- 45:50Speaker 1: maybe you don't re sign t Higgins and Marvin Harrison
- 45:53Speaker 1: is great and then you just draft another I.
- 45:55Speaker 8: Just don't think that. I just don't think that they
- 45:57Speaker 8: would allocate their resources that way. I think it's too
- 46:00Speaker 8: much into one.
- 46:01Speaker 3: I mean, I think you undervalue the offensive line. I
- 46:03Speaker 3: mean I don't.
- 46:03Speaker 5: I don't think you just pick up two offensive two
- 46:05Speaker 5: tackle starters as rookies and you know, I mean we've
- 46:08Speaker 5: seen Kirk Cousins with Justin Jefferson.
- 46:10Speaker 1: I mean, well, they've shored up the offensive line through
- 46:15Speaker 1: free agency, you know, veteran guys that they bring in,
- 46:18Speaker 1: and you know these guys.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Yeah, but I think these left tackles though, this is
- 46:22Speaker 5: that I need somebody in place there.
- 46:24Speaker 3: And I mean I'm not going to make the case
- 46:25Speaker 3: for Alton and.
- 46:26Speaker 5: You know, I mean, I don't, you know, generally overall disagree.
- 46:29Speaker 5: I think those are the kind of moves they have
- 46:30Speaker 5: to make. I'm with Evan though on kirk Cousins. I'd
- 46:33Speaker 5: rather go with somebody that like Jacoby Brissett, who we
- 46:36Speaker 5: know is not going to be the starter. We're not
- 46:38Speaker 5: going to pay him like the starter. He's keeping the
- 46:40Speaker 5: seat warm until whatever rookie we have is ready. And
- 46:43Speaker 5: I don't want to pay kirk Cousins to be average
- 46:45Speaker 5: kirk Cousins. And I got to pay him, you know,
- 46:47Speaker 5: twenty twenty five million, and he's coming off an injury
- 46:50Speaker 5: and I've already seen him with an elite weapon and
- 46:52Speaker 5: it was fine.
- 46:53Speaker 3: You know, It's just there's nothing intriguing about that.
- 46:55Speaker 5: At best, he maybe gets back to a level he's
- 46:57Speaker 5: been at with the Vikings, which is kind of what
- 46:59Speaker 5: Mac was last year.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Ka, Right, So he's Are you saying that he's too
- 47:04Speaker 1: much to pay to be a bridge quarterback because I
- 47:07Speaker 1: don't think he's going to take you to the promise?
- 47:09Speaker 3: No?
- 47:09Speaker 5: No, yeah, basically yeah, basically, I'd rather just put somebody
- 47:12Speaker 5: that there's no illusion that we're hoping, like if you
- 47:15Speaker 5: signed kirk Cousins.
- 47:16Speaker 3: I think the message is we kind of think he
- 47:18Speaker 3: could do something for us.
- 47:19Speaker 5: You know, we're gonna pay him kind of like that,
- 47:20Speaker 5: and he's kind of the starter. Now I'd love to
- 47:22Speaker 5: I'd probably And this is assuming you get a first
- 47:24Speaker 5: round quarterback in some capacity, whether it's that second pick
- 47:28Speaker 5: or you trade back up into the first round to
- 47:29Speaker 5: get you know, maybe somebody like Daniels if that kind
- 47:32Speaker 5: of thing lined up.
- 47:33Speaker 3: But you know, keep the seat warm. But we're not
- 47:35Speaker 3: under any illusion.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Let's just say that this is the year that Rogers
- 47:40Speaker 1: is available. Is this the year that you draft Marvin
- 47:43Speaker 1: Harrison and bring Aaron Rodgers in and maybe go.
- 47:46Speaker 3: For it or without Belichick?
- 47:49Speaker 1: Well who cares for the head coaches?
- 47:51Speaker 3: Yeah? I don't know.
- 47:52Speaker 5: I mean I think that that made have made sense
- 47:54Speaker 5: last year with like a last hurrah for Bill to
- 47:56Speaker 5: try to get back on track and try to get
- 47:59Speaker 5: you know, one last you know.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Just good season double digit wins.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I guess what I'm saying is, is there a scenario
- 48:04Speaker 1: in which you're taking Harrison and bringing in a quarterback
- 48:07Speaker 1: who can win it for you?
- 48:09Speaker 3: Now?
- 48:09Speaker 8: Do you think Kyler Murray can win it for you?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Now?
- 48:12Speaker 5: I kind of am intrigued by Kyler Murray now I
- 48:16Speaker 5: mean in that but at least like this thing. And
- 48:18Speaker 5: that's fine, Like, and I know you'd have to pay him,
- 48:20Speaker 5: you know, probably more than even Kirk Cousins, but there's
- 48:23Speaker 5: just something intriguing and fun about him. That and if
- 48:25Speaker 5: we're not under the illusion that this is the guy
- 48:27Speaker 5: that we're going to tell I mean, and that I
- 48:29Speaker 5: don't know, it's the only one that he has.
- 48:31Speaker 3: He has some potential, you know.
- 48:33Speaker 5: I still feel like any's small and it's kind of funny,
- 48:35Speaker 5: but I just think of like from an entertainment standpoint,
- 48:38Speaker 5: I would be like, oh, you signed Colin Murray, Like
- 48:40Speaker 5: I'm interested to camp.
- 48:41Speaker 3: If we signed Kirk Cousins, I'm like, I could care
- 48:43Speaker 3: less about watching kirk Cousins in trading came.
- 48:45Speaker 7: He's like the ultimate purgatory quarter back.
- 48:47Speaker 4: I know, it's basically.
- 48:49Speaker 3: He's that guy right now, Like it's just Kirk Cousins.
- 48:51Speaker 3: That's we all know what we're talking about.
- 48:53Speaker 8: That Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I I know this
- 48:56Speaker 8: is gonna upset some people. I'm like, not really on
- 48:59Speaker 8: the Marvin Harrison junior train. I just think that you're
- 49:03Speaker 8: too far away to be drafting the shiny toy, Like, okay,
- 49:08Speaker 8: so you're gonna draft Marvin Harrison Junior. Second, Overall, he's
- 49:12Speaker 8: not gonna have a quarterback to throw them the ball.
- 49:13Speaker 8: He's not gonna have an offensive line to protect the
- 49:15Speaker 8: quarterback who can't throw him the ball. And he's gonna
- 49:18Speaker 8: be down the field like Garrett Wilson with his hands
- 49:20Speaker 8: up in the air like I'm wide open and there's
- 49:22Speaker 8: not gonna be a football, and so like what where
- 49:24Speaker 8: does that ultimately? Like, he's an incredibly talented player and
- 49:29Speaker 8: he's gonna be great in the NFL, I'm sure, but
- 49:32Speaker 8: I just don't know if right now, I think that
- 49:36Speaker 8: I still kind of subscribe to the old school thought
- 49:38Speaker 8: of like the receiver is the last thing that you do,
- 49:40Speaker 8: Like you got to build up the line, you got
- 49:42Speaker 8: to get the quarterback, and when you have it all
- 49:44Speaker 8: ready to go, that's when you drop in Tyreek Hill.
- 49:46Speaker 8: That's when you drop in Aj Brown. If you do
- 49:49Speaker 8: it out of order, then I think you're gonna have
- 49:51Speaker 8: Garrett Wilson who is just always open but has no
- 49:53Speaker 8: quarterback to get him the football.
- 49:54Speaker 5: And I think those things you said point towards the
- 49:57Speaker 5: argument for taking a left tackle.
- 49:58Speaker 3: I mean to take you know, for or Joe Walt,
- 50:00Speaker 3: who are you know too?
- 50:01Speaker 8: There's a really like people aren't gonna like it. No,
- 50:04Speaker 8: but there's a really really good argument for taking one
- 50:07Speaker 8: of the tackles.
- 50:08Speaker 5: If you're realistic about where this team is right now,
- 50:10Speaker 5: is a three win team, the worst team in the AFC,
- 50:13Speaker 5: that we're not going back to the playoffs next year,
- 50:15Speaker 5: that we need to build this brick by brick what
- 50:17Speaker 5: has been one of the biggest pieces missing.
- 50:19Speaker 3: And of course we all know the quarterback. But I
- 50:22Speaker 3: left tackle.
- 50:23Speaker 1: So even with the second or third pick, let's just
- 50:25Speaker 1: say you take that tackle, say you take Joe Wall,
- 50:29Speaker 1: who do you pick at the top of the second?
- 50:30Speaker 1: What position do you pick at the top of the second?
- 50:33Speaker 5: I mean I would I mean I talk about trading
- 50:35Speaker 5: back up to get the court to get a quarterback.
- 50:37Speaker 5: I think that would for me, that would be the
- 50:39Speaker 5: move if And that's why I was kind of trying
- 50:41Speaker 5: to line things up on Daniels. But I mean, I
- 50:44Speaker 5: just I don't see how they can get out of
- 50:46Speaker 5: at least Day two without drafting a quarterback this year.
- 50:48Speaker 5: I don't I don't. I don't know how they can
- 50:50Speaker 5: do it. It doesn't necessarily have to be second overall. But
- 50:53Speaker 5: I mean, and I and again my philosophy, you draft.
- 50:55Speaker 3: A quarterback every year. Every year, you should draft a quarterback.
- 50:58Speaker 5: But I think it's it's it's just hard to see.
- 51:00Speaker 5: And and again, I'd like to just I'd like to fall
- 51:02Speaker 5: in love with one of these guys. I'd love to,
- 51:03Speaker 5: you know, just be like, I know he's got some wortz,
- 51:05Speaker 5: but this is you know, And I mean the other
- 51:07Speaker 5: thing that like part of my process is like watching
- 51:09Speaker 5: interviews with these guys. Watch don't like, I don't just
- 51:11Speaker 5: like I want to hear them talk. I want to
- 51:13Speaker 5: hear what kind of people they are, you know. I
- 51:15Speaker 5: think that tells you a lot. It's almost like a
- 51:16Speaker 5: job interview.
- 51:17Speaker 1: If you're okay with taking a tacko in the first round,
- 51:21Speaker 1: do you draft, do you you know, trade down to
- 51:25Speaker 1: like maybe six, pick up one of these guys then
- 51:28Speaker 1: maybe and then come up you know, have an extra pick.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I don't need it, I work.
- 51:33Speaker 5: With I mean, I just think again, Fred like that
- 51:34Speaker 5: to me is like just this is this is a
- 51:36Speaker 5: three win football team.
- 51:37Speaker 3: This is a team that badly needs talent in a
- 51:40Speaker 3: number of areas.
- 51:41Speaker 5: And I'm, you know, one hundred percent with Evan on
- 51:44Speaker 5: to thinking that we're just gonna plug a wide receiver
- 51:46Speaker 5: in here. You know, by the time you're ready to
- 51:48Speaker 5: actually play with Marveson Marvin Harrison Junior, you're gonna have
- 51:51Speaker 5: to give him a new contract and pay him through
- 51:53Speaker 5: the nose for you know, hopefully because he's been good.
- 51:56Speaker 1: But you know, it's it's I I still will say,
- 51:59Speaker 1: if there's a quarter back you love, take them, just
- 52:01Speaker 1: take them. I'm worry about the rest after. Just get
- 52:05Speaker 1: that position.
- 52:06Speaker 8: I agree with that, and I still think that as well.
- 52:08Speaker 8: But I just think that the tackle argument is is
- 52:11Speaker 8: is there? And if you look across the league at
- 52:13Speaker 8: the teams that are that are in it, they all
- 52:15Speaker 8: have good offensive lions, like all of them San Francisco, Philadelphia, Detroit,
- 52:20Speaker 8: you know, Dallas, like You're nobody has a bad offensive
- 52:24Speaker 8: line among that group, and those are the teams that
- 52:26Speaker 8: are all favored, you know, to win the Super Bowl.
- 52:28Speaker 16: Right.
- 52:29Speaker 8: So it's just.
- 52:30Speaker 5: It's like one of those philosophical questions where like if
- 52:32Speaker 5: you could have I could if you draft to tackle,
- 52:34Speaker 5: I guarantee he's gonna be good. But if you draft
- 52:36Speaker 5: a quarterback, you got a fifty to fifty chance if
- 52:38Speaker 5: he's gonna actually if he's gonna end up like Mac
- 52:40Speaker 5: or an actual player. You know, Like I just think
- 52:42Speaker 5: that they're in a place right now.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but then will you do you ever get the court?
- 52:46Speaker 1: I know, I know, Like if the guy you love
- 52:48Speaker 1: is right there, you have to take him.
- 52:50Speaker 8: So do you think that, like, you know, just to
- 52:52Speaker 8: play it out, Like, do you think that the Lions
- 52:54Speaker 8: have any regrets whatsoever on Penny Seool because I think
- 52:57Speaker 8: that they are ecstatic that Penny Stools on their football team.
- 53:00Speaker 8: I know I would be right, and like.
- 53:02Speaker 3: That's the long term approach. When they took they.
- 53:05Speaker 8: Took it and they built They drafted him, they drafted
- 53:08Speaker 8: a bunch of those guys on their offensive line, and
- 53:10Speaker 8: they built it like they slowly built up their team.
- 53:13Speaker 1: And now, but is Jared gott If Jared Goff's the
- 53:16Speaker 1: reason where they ultimately lose in the playoffs every year,
- 53:19Speaker 1: then maybe they do regret it, but.
- 53:21Speaker 8: You like how the team isn't But I don't think
- 53:23Speaker 8: they regret like they might regret like not having a
- 53:26Speaker 8: better quarterback than Jared. But that doesn't guarantee.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Escially when they had the chance to get one.
- 53:31Speaker 8: Maybe I don't know, but I just look at that
- 53:33Speaker 8: guy moved the right side off.
- 53:34Speaker 5: But but but it's such a favorable circumstance. So if
- 53:37Speaker 5: they say this year, like again, draft a quarterback every year,
- 53:40Speaker 5: maybe you get another guy and he starts to put
- 53:42Speaker 5: but you've got you know, you got to the point
- 53:44Speaker 5: where you could select Jamison Williams when you knew he
- 53:46Speaker 5: wasn't even gonna play.
- 53:47Speaker 3: For a year because you're you're big in the long approach.
- 53:50Speaker 5: You're not taking the oh god, we got to get
- 53:51Speaker 5: the receiptingly a number one right now.
- 53:53Speaker 3: And and you know, like that's gonna the answer.
- 53:55Speaker 5: It's I think that they're unfortunately gonna have to be
- 53:58Speaker 5: more methodical about rebuilding.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Well that's gonna be you know, if that's the way
- 54:03Speaker 1: they want to do it, that's gonna have to be
- 54:04Speaker 1: a cell job by whoever takes over this team to
- 54:07Speaker 1: tell the fans you're gonna need to be patient. We're
- 54:10Speaker 1: building for the long.
- 54:11Speaker 7: We saw this season like what it looks like when
- 54:13Speaker 7: you put a quarterback in a really bad situation with coaching, Well,
- 54:17Speaker 7: that's right, I know all of it. So it's like,
- 54:19Speaker 7: are you going to take a quarterback that's not really
- 54:21Speaker 7: in a great position to succeed anyways and then maybe
- 54:24Speaker 7: waste his development?
- 54:25Speaker 4: Who knows?
- 54:25Speaker 3: Like what is he walking into next year? I mean,
- 54:27Speaker 3: and you know the Trent Brown comments like yesterday.
- 54:31Speaker 5: Like he's got to go, He's got to go, like
- 54:34Speaker 5: you know, he just this is what you can't have,
- 54:37Speaker 5: Like people are not on board with this program. They're here,
- 54:40Speaker 5: they're talking on the media. Now it's getting worse, and like,
- 54:42Speaker 5: you know, it's just I respect. I mean, I know
- 54:44Speaker 5: Paul you know, never really thinks Trump Brown's good, but
- 54:47Speaker 5: like you know, when he plays, he's good. But we
- 54:48Speaker 5: just we got to get off that roller coaster. We
- 54:50Speaker 5: gotta find he's good, solid, solid, reliable tackle in a
- 54:54Speaker 5: perfect world. It's like Trent Williams, who is you know,
- 54:56Speaker 5: setting the tone like everyone's terrified of our left tackle.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Like what's it like to go on.
- 55:00Speaker 8: A game like that about an argument to take Joeell,
- 55:02Speaker 8: you know, best player.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Whereas we go into a.
- 55:05Speaker 5: Game where we're like we don't know if he's gonna
- 55:07Speaker 5: A be healthy or b even if he plays, we're
- 55:10Speaker 5: not sure today if he's gonna be engaged or you know,
- 55:12Speaker 5: it's just gonna be a good game from him, is
- 55:14Speaker 5: it not? You know, it's They've tried long enough to
- 55:17Speaker 5: put the right butt, push the right buttons, and to
- 55:19Speaker 5: give him the right money to get that performance out
- 55:21Speaker 5: of them.
- 55:21Speaker 17: But I'm at the point now where like obviously the
- 55:26Speaker 17: last three games of this season, when losses like don't
- 55:28Speaker 17: necessarily matter, in fact, they probably rooted them to lose,
- 55:31Speaker 17: Like I'd rather than play Viderian Low at left tackle
- 55:34Speaker 17: and shut Trent Brown down.
- 55:35Speaker 8: I don't want Trent Brown playing another snap for this
- 55:37Speaker 8: football team. Like get like that guy yesterday is ridiculous,
- 55:42Speaker 8: Like it's ridiculous, Like a couple of weeks ago, you
- 55:44Speaker 8: say that you're the best offensive player on the team,
- 55:47Speaker 8: which like may be true, Okay, like when you care,
- 55:51Speaker 8: but then you don't even care to go on the
- 55:53Speaker 8: trip to Germany. You stay home from Germany. Now all
- 55:56Speaker 8: of a sudden, you got sixteen injuries on the listed
- 55:59Speaker 8: on the injury report because you need a multiple excuses
- 56:02Speaker 8: not to show up to work and play. And then
- 56:04Speaker 8: you don't play, and then you go and you sound
- 56:06Speaker 8: off about it. A practice squad quarterback who may or
- 56:09Speaker 8: may not even play a down in the NFL as
- 56:11Speaker 8: a start ever and now and we're supposed to like
- 56:14Speaker 8: have your back like you're you're one of our guys.
- 56:18Speaker 1: And the thing is they've had his back. Yeah, you know, they've.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Given him more chances saying what's it gonna be?
- 56:22Speaker 1: Like he frustrates me because I'm like, Paul, I do
- 56:25Speaker 1: think he's good.
- 56:27Speaker 8: That's where I'm coming.
- 56:29Speaker 5: Awful, you can get that out of him, Like, I
- 56:32Speaker 5: guess that's the only person they I'm sure.
- 56:36Speaker 8: Yeah, that's where I'm coming from with somebody that has
- 56:39Speaker 8: defended his tape and said that like when he's out
- 56:42Speaker 8: there and he's locked in. He has played good football
- 56:44Speaker 8: this year for them earlier this year, but his attitude
- 56:47Speaker 8: is part of the problem with the bigger picture of
- 56:49Speaker 8: the team.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Patty's inn agawam, what's up? Patty?
- 56:55Speaker 18: Hey, good afternoon, every one, good after Ready that time
- 57:00Speaker 18: of year. I just want to say, not to get like,
- 57:05Speaker 18: not not to get hit on the fields or anything,
- 57:07Speaker 18: but I gotta you know how I feel about you.
- 57:10Speaker 18: You're the king of all Patriots media, and I just
- 57:12Speaker 18: got to say before I get to my point that
- 57:15Speaker 18: I think this iteration of the Flagship show is far
- 57:18Speaker 18: and away.
- 57:19Speaker 3: The best.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Without Paul.
- 57:25Speaker 18: Yeah, exactly now, but you know it's great that Paul
- 57:30Speaker 18: Paul is still around. Love the love it when you
- 57:32Speaker 18: guys get into it still, Mike Evan, Alex Tamara, all
- 57:36Speaker 18: the additions you made it. I mean, you guys, you're
- 57:39Speaker 18: a powerhouse and.
- 57:42Speaker 13: I love you.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Robert Craft at one Patriot Place.
- 57:47Speaker 18: Hey, I advocate for you, all right, pump up your pay,
- 57:52Speaker 18: but I just I want to make a police all
- 57:54Speaker 18: Patriots fans too, that may attend the last game of
- 57:56Speaker 18: the season against the Debts. It's it's it's pretty much,
- 58:00Speaker 18: in my opinion, foregone conclusion. Belichick's gone if it's made
- 58:05Speaker 18: known to the public at that time. Regardless of what happens,
- 58:09Speaker 18: I hope the fans are classy enough to show him
- 58:12Speaker 18: the respect that that he's earned over the last one
- 58:14Speaker 18: four years, regardless of whether they win like thirteen to ten,
- 58:18Speaker 18: or if they get blown out somehow, that they that
- 58:21Speaker 18: they showed their respect. Give him the standing ovation and
- 58:24Speaker 18: that's all I got. Guys. Merry Christmas, Happy hot I got,
- 58:27Speaker 18: Happy Holidays, Happy New Year.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Let's go bab Thanks Patty, I think regardless of whether
- 58:32Speaker 1: it's made known, I think people will assume and they
- 58:36Speaker 1: will give him a good send up.
- 58:37Speaker 3: Kind of like the Titans game a little bit there
- 58:39Speaker 3: with Brady.
- 58:40Speaker 8: I hope so too, though to Patty's point, like, I
- 58:42Speaker 8: do hope that because there are going to be some
- 58:44Speaker 8: of those a holes, you know, that that will want
- 58:46Speaker 8: to boo because of the state of the team currently.
- 58:48Speaker 8: But like we got to see the bigger pictures.
- 58:50Speaker 5: Yeah right, I thank him so the question I would
- 58:53Speaker 5: never ask Bill, but this has really been on my mind,
- 58:54Speaker 5: and you guys will laugh at me, and it's totally fine.
- 58:57Speaker 5: I am the I am the Bill Belichick rope guy.
- 59:00Speaker 5: But honestly, like I'm not gonna lie like it. It's
- 59:03Speaker 5: in my brain of like why this year and every
- 59:06Speaker 5: press conference is he's suddenly in a button down shirt,
- 59:08Speaker 5: Like I mean for twenty however.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Many years he was always just in a crummy.
- 59:13Speaker 5: Sweatshirt or whatever he happened to be wearing, Patriots, you know, windbreaker,
- 59:17Speaker 5: Polo whatever.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Now I won't say Polo, he's not named Polo.
- 59:20Speaker 5: But like this year, every time, every time, every press conference,
- 59:24Speaker 5: he's in a button down shirt.
- 59:25Speaker 3: He's dressed dice.
- 59:25Speaker 7: Like, but yeah, still in like flip flops, well so
- 59:28Speaker 7: more often than not, So it's not like he's going
- 59:30Speaker 7: all the way with it.
- 59:31Speaker 8: The flipping is wild to me, like toes out like
- 59:34Speaker 8: come on a.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Good notion, but I don't know.
- 59:37Speaker 5: I mean it's like one of those things where like
- 59:39Speaker 5: we should have known all along, like he just he
- 59:41Speaker 5: knew this was his last year and he's dressing.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Up and he wanted like, I just I don't get it.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Like we talked about what it's like.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Bill doesn't change.
- 59:46Speaker 3: He's set in his ways, and I'm like, but he
- 59:47Speaker 3: really did this year like he would have gone up there.
- 59:49Speaker 5: I mean it's infamous of like the crappy sweatshirts he'd
- 59:51Speaker 5: be wearing, and like all of a sudden, he's just
- 59:53Speaker 5: this year, he's dressed up every single time, button down shirt,
- 59:56Speaker 5: rolled up sleeves every time.
- 59:58Speaker 1: So great.
- 59:58Speaker 3: I know I'm the only person who cares. And I
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: did say in the meeting.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: I was like, just like if Bill leaves, like, let's
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: just make sure we get those hoodies now.
- 1:00:04Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:00:07Speaker 8: We were talking about this a little bit on Catch
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: twenty two, because you know, in twenty nineteen, I was
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: a young buck. I was in my second year on
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: the beat. I didn't know what I was doing right
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: and uh not that I know what I'm doing now
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: and uh and I was naive, like I said, like timely,
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: I still believe in Santa Claus. Like I thought there
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: was no way that Tom Brady was ever going to
- 1:00:26Speaker 8: play for a different team. And we went for that
- 1:00:28Speaker 8: entire season, and I ignored all these warning signs that
- 1:00:31Speaker 8: he was that this was his last year. And I remember,
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: you know, looking back on it, once he did sign
- 1:00:36Speaker 8: with Tampa. Him at the press conference after the loss
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: to the Titans. That was the first locker room of
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: a playoff loss I had been in because the year
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: before they won the Super Bowl, and he was like
- 1:00:47Speaker 8: relieved and like a little bit like he was smiling
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: and like was like happy, and I was like, this
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: is not the like Tom Brady after a playoff loss
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: used to be like you just like killed his kid, right,
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: like this is what's going on? And you know, looking
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: back on it, he was probably was relieved, like finally
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: it's it's it's over, Like I, you know, I can
- 1:01:07Speaker 8: move on or whatever. So I agree with you that
- 1:01:09Speaker 8: I'm trying to like antennas are up more now for
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: little things about Bill's behavior and his answers in the
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: way he handles himself, that maybe there are signs that
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: it's over.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: There's so much other stuff that this note not changed
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: at all, like and a lot of these press conferences,
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: this same same bill, like the same you know Wednesday, President,
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: you wouldn't know it goes, I have no idea. And
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: then I mean he's always happy on Friday too, like
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: except for jet suite.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: All right, we'll take a break. Now. When we come back,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: more calls and emails, we'll do the picks. We got
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: a hurry, so we'll talk to you after this.

- 1:02:27Speaker 20: And we are back with another edition of Herb's favorite show,
- 1:02:30Speaker 20: The PU Halftime Show.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Holidays are on the corner and gals and gals, Yeah
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: you know, but girlly.
- 1:02:36Speaker 20: Teas and the content curlies. Okay, Christmas Christmas movies? What
- 1:02:41Speaker 20: are the best ones? What you grow up with? I
- 1:02:43Speaker 20: said earlier, I'm the resident Jew, which Veronica said, I'm
- 1:02:46Speaker 20: not so I being sad Am I able to say
- 1:02:49Speaker 20: that was say that that being said, I've never seen
- 1:02:55Speaker 20: the Christmas movies. For me, it's just die Hard, which
- 1:02:58Speaker 20: I heard is like very controversial.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: So you've never seen watch them just.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: I've never seen.
- 1:03:05Speaker 20: Never seen them start to finish, never seen Home Alone.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Start to finish like Santa Claus.
- 1:03:09Speaker 20: Seen that one.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: Okay, like, what are your favorites?
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: So I just rewatched ELF recently and that it holds
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: up so well.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: I was cracking up. I have always loved Elf. It's
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: also just okay.
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: So there's a part in Elf which matist doesn't know,
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: but probably I might have seen a clips. Will Ferrell's
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: character walks into his dad's office and his dad his
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: dad's employees are talking amongst each other, and his father
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: says like, Hi, Francisco, how are you? And then Will
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: Ferrell's character goes Francisco. That's fun to say. So if
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: you remember back when ABC Family would do the twenty
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: five Nights of Christmas, I always knew when ELF was
- 1:03:51Speaker 7: on because probably like forty five minutes past eight o'clock
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: PM when those movies always started, I would start getting
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: texts from just random people.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: In my life.
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: Never like super super close friends because by that point
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: the joke is old for them, but just casual acquaintances,
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: new friends.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: I would just get a tax Francisco. That's fun to say.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: And I don't know. I've always I.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Think Elf is like I think Elf is just it's
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: a relatively newer one, and by newer, I mean like
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: early two thousands.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: It's such a favorite.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Like I was just gonna say, I think Elf has
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: has some of those scenes that, regardless of how many
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: times you watch them, they're still funny. And I keep
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: going back to when he gets hit by the taxi.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: It makes me laugh every single time I see it,
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: like it's it's hysterical to me. But I think other
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: than Elf, I really like the Santa Claus with.
- 1:04:48Speaker 14: With Tim Allan. Tim Allan, you know that's a classic.
- 1:04:51Speaker 20: So one of the few I have seen it was
- 1:04:53Speaker 20: Fred Klaus.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Have you seen that one?
- 1:04:58Speaker 20: I like that one? But so all right, So, as
- 1:05:01Speaker 20: I said earlier, what are your thoughts on die Hard?
- 1:05:03Speaker 20: Is that a Christmas movie?
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: I think I think it's Oh my god, I've never
- 1:05:07Speaker 7: seen die Jaws.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: You haven't seen die Hard?
- 1:05:10Speaker 14: No, it is a Christmas movie for sure.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Okay, how is it not?
- 1:05:12Speaker 14: You know?
- 1:05:13Speaker 20: Alex is actually re released in theaters for the holidays.
- 1:05:16Speaker 20: You should go to AMC and check it out.
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: I watched a Christmas movie kind of in the last
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: couple of years. So it's newer and it's animated, so
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: it's for kids. But it's one of those animated movies
- 1:05:28Speaker 7: that are also for adults. I think adults would really like.
- 1:05:31Speaker 14: It, like it like Slips adults.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: It's called Claws on Net.
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: I think it was hopefully still on Netflix, but I
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: watched it a couple of years ago, like as an
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: adult woman, I have no children.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: I wasn't with a knee or nephew or anything.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: So wait, Mattisa, you've never even seen like like the
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Little Clay animation ones, like.
- 1:05:50Speaker 20: Specials seen like clips of its yea, the one I
- 1:05:56Speaker 20: need to watch start to finish.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: It's okay, you've been a minute.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: I saw, I saw. Have to watch them.
- 1:06:04Speaker 20: You guys have pu halftime show homework is you have
- 1:06:06Speaker 20: to watch die Hard. I have to watch like Home Alone.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Or something like that.
- 1:06:09Speaker 14: I'm probably gonna watch the specials.
- 1:06:11Speaker 20: Yeah I don't like CBS or something.
- 1:06:13Speaker 14: Yeah, they're They're usually on ABC Family.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: I have them all on VHS if you want to
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: borrow them.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I got to dust off the VHS machine.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: I don't know if I have one anymore, but I
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: have the VHS is still see.
- 1:06:24Speaker 20: I used to love like like the rug Rats specials
- 1:06:27Speaker 20: or like you know, like the shows growing up, like
- 1:06:29Speaker 20: just like the Quick.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Sponge Rats also holds up so well.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: Yeah, Rugrats and Pairs.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: Oh yeah, hell yeah, goat movie. Yeah it really is,
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: it really is. I watched that in adulthood too a
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: couple of years ago. It was great.
- 1:06:43Speaker 20: But all right, so guys, what what one more thing
- 1:06:46Speaker 20: before we sign off? Give me your Christmas traditions? If
- 1:06:49Speaker 20: you guys have an like, what's the thing you and
- 1:06:51Speaker 20: your family does all the time?
- 1:06:53Speaker 14: Alex and I might have the same ones because similar.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Background, Go for it.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I want you to love to have.
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: Christmas Eve is our big night with family, so as
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: long as I can remember, it's going to an aunt
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: or a grandma's house, or staying home with my parents cooking.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: But the big tradition is like the seven fish dishes,
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: seven different dishes, all a fish dish. And yeah, I've
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: learned the Italians.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Yeah we do the.
- 1:07:20Speaker 14: Exact same thing.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Got it before midnight Mass at midnight.
- 1:07:26Speaker 20: See I'm Jewish, but I love Christmas. It's like the
- 1:07:29Speaker 20: coziest Holliday ever. And my thing is my mom and
- 1:07:32Speaker 20: I always just order so much Chinese food.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I to go to thing.
- 1:07:36Speaker 20: That's that's the the Balman family tradition. Just order as
- 1:07:39Speaker 20: much Chinese food.
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: What do you do on New Year's Eve?
- 1:07:42Speaker 11: Now?
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: I just stay in and watch TV.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: I associated with New Year's I'm.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: Out on New Year's As I've gotten older, I'm out
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: on it.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I've done it recovered.
- 1:07:52Speaker 7: I don't.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: I like to hang out casually with friends, house.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Generous something from people weeks ago, like like house party, holidays, Halloween.
- 1:08:08Speaker 7: I think the one reason I could get out of
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: my house for New Year's even get like dressed up
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: to go out is for a wedding.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: A New Year's Eve wedding is fun.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I didn't even know those existed.
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: I think it's the only acceptable holiday to have a wedding.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: No Fourth of July.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: Fourth of July, because so many.
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: People have family traditions for the July and they go away,
- 1:08:28Speaker 7: Like I'd be devastated to miss.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: A year of my Fourth of July plans with my family.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: But New Year's Eve it's kind of overrated to begin with.
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: And if you can't take a year off of partying
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: with your friends to go to a wedding, you got
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: to read that you probably should well.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: And I think everybody thinks that going out for New
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Year's Eve is actually better than when you get out
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: and you realize how terrible it is, like the bars
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: are crowded, everything's expensive.
- 1:08:53Speaker 20: Like, all right, guys, thank you for joining listeners. Send
- 1:08:57Speaker 20: your answers to the web rate at patriots dot com.
- 1:08:59Speaker 20: And guys, I think we're keeping this going in the
- 1:09:01Speaker 20: off season. So if you have any topics you want me.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: To discussing it off the rails.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going crazy with it.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: So guys, thank you.
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: Let's get back to the show.
- 1:09:10Speaker 21: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 1:09:15Speaker 21: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:09:19Speaker 21: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx. Where
- 1:09:23Speaker 21: now it's next for residential delivery only Yes, uh.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: Your performance, you know the performance like sexual excuse me,
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: willy are you saying or something wrong with my gear?
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: So what you're saying to me, I'm sorry your gear?
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: WILLI mystick?
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: He's not going to say that little stick in front
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: of the children to see.
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: Hey, our friend that we were just talking about before
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: it went on there.
- 1:09:44Speaker 19: Marcopello already posted on Instagram, get the tree down, it's over,
- 1:09:48Speaker 19: take the lights off, turn.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Me gravy and grave about you whatever you want you
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: I want to thank you all for doing shows Tuesday
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: and today. Most podcasts are putting out nothing or or
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: best of shows. The radio was putting their Sea team
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: out there. No offense, Paul as someone who has to
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: work tomorrow. I don't want to look them straight in
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: the eye.
- 1:10:11Speaker 10: I don't want to tell them what a sheep lying,
- 1:10:13Speaker 10: no good, rotten for flushing, low life, snake locking, dirt
- 1:10:16Speaker 10: eating and bread over stuffed, ignorant, blood sucking, dog kissing, brainless,
- 1:10:22Speaker 10: this hopeless, heartless, fat.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Ass bug eye stiff leg. It's fine, warm headed sack
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: of bucky he is. I know, yah, I'm just tuned
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: in live for the first time ever. Oh who excellent.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: A lot of people at home Christmas, you know, sitting
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: by the Yule tide and uh listening to.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Hugh sitting by the yule log, sitting by the Yule tide.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Some people are by the ocean.
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: Oh okay, not the river, though no river wouldn't have
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: a Yule tide.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Correct to everyone out there listening, have a merry Christmas.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: That's what you celebrate. Merry Christmas. All right back here
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: on Patriots On filtered eight, five five past five hundred
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: is the ace ticket hotline web radio at Patriots dot com.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: It's the email address Deuce Evan, Alex Fred Booth. No
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: Paul today, Mattison. Paul's on a competing station.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Yeah, he's going up against him.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Should we call him?
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: That wouldn't be a bad Roger from Foxborough. Yeah, I
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: just don't want to be put on hold. That's the problem. Parrello. Yeah, yeah, Parrello,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: you don't know nothing about football.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: We all take a turn'd be kind of funny.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, he'd figure it out. He's too swart, it's too wiley.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Although Andy Hart got him good.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: I can't believe that. I mean Andy too, because Andy's
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: voice so distinctive.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: But yeah, Roger and Foxborough.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Uh Burton Burton Island writes, and he says, you guys
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: should seriously consider doing a version of the Good, the Bad,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: and the Injured on your Tuesday show. There's a great
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: wrap by NASCAR halftime, the beat of which they should
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: use for the show within a show, and finally, next show,
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: next host of the pre and postgame show. The answer
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: is obvious. Evan Lazar. Evan has just left.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: Oh man, I don't think Evan would like that.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: Evan's got things to do, and like me and Paul
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: are always like rushing up after the pregame show, like
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: grab a little food, and Evan's like got everything set
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: up and he's been up there, like, you know, tweeting
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: and looking through his binoculars and establishing the scene and
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: know we're like coming in hot.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: I don't think he would. I don't think he would
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: enjoy that.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go to AJ in the Bay Area on
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the Ace ticket houtline. What's up AJ?
- 1:12:42Speaker 22: Hey, guys, I just tuned in, so I'm not sure
- 1:12:47Speaker 22: what you talked about earlier, but I've just been on
- 1:12:50Speaker 22: social media a little bit looking at what people are saying,
- 1:12:53Speaker 22: because obviously we'll probably get a top three pick in
- 1:12:56Speaker 22: the draft hopefully. Yeah, And I'm it's a shock at
- 1:13:00Speaker 22: the number of people that seems to think the best
- 1:13:03Speaker 22: idea is not to go with the quarterback. I don't
- 1:13:06Speaker 22: know what you guys are noticing out there, but you
- 1:13:10Speaker 22: know some people are saying, if you put him behind
- 1:13:13Speaker 22: a bad offensive line and he doesn't have any weapons
- 1:13:16Speaker 22: around him, then what's the point. Let's just, you know,
- 1:13:19Speaker 22: build up the roster around him and then get the
- 1:13:21Speaker 22: guy later. But I don't know when people think they're
- 1:13:26Speaker 22: going to have as good as an opportunity as a
- 1:13:28Speaker 22: top three pick to get that franchise altering quarterback that
- 1:13:32Speaker 22: they obviously need, and why not apply the logic the
- 1:13:36Speaker 22: other way, Like, it's not like this.
- 1:13:38Speaker 16: You know, number three.
- 1:13:39Speaker 22: Pick is the only asset they have going into next year.
- 1:13:42Speaker 22: So I'll take it off the air.
- 1:13:45Speaker 13: You guys, tell me what.
- 1:13:46Speaker 20: You think about that.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: I mean, that's it's so critical that the Patriots get
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: their front office in order once the season starts, because
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: someone's going to have to make that decision. You know,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: some Scout voting staff has got to be making the
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: decision that one of these guys is worth taking that high.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Is it the current one? I don't know. If it's
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: a totally new one, then they've got to get them
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: in place really fast, because these are critical decisions that
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: have to be made. You know, if.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: I mean it's a blessing or a curse, you don't
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: really know.
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: I mean, it's it's the one year you get a
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: top five pick and you know, here are the quarterbacks,
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: and you know, congratulations, they just took Kayleb Williams at one,
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: and your two and you and you know, and I mean,
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: I totally get the point.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: I think we all do.
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: If if you know, there's plenty if you miss on
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: a quarterback at two overall, you miss on a quarterback
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: at two overall. But you know, it's just I was
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: kind of going back to the old school, you know,
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: Peyton Manning Ryan Leaf thing.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: You know what if you were the second overall.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: Pick in that draft and you're like, we love Peyton Manning,
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: we hate Ryan Leaf. We think Ryan Leaf is going
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: to be a bust, and you know, we just don't
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: believe in them. And then the Indy takes the call
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: and he takes Manning and like, you know so, and
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: it's like, on one hand, your second overall, this is
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: the consensus second overall guy. Everyone is saying that's who
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: he is, and so you almost.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: Feel obligated to take them. But if you really truly believe.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: That, you've got to trust your scouts. Yeah, and if
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: you got to, I.
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: Mean it takes huge, you know, confidence and balls to say, look,
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: everyone says we should take Ryan Leaf right here, but
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: you know, knowing what, you know, we're not going to.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: We're gonna trade down or that's.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: That's where owners screw up is they look at the marketing,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: they look at the public opinion, and they say, we
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: got to take Ryan Leaf, you know, and that's that
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: rights their their downfall right there. You've got to that's
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: you pay these guys to scout and give you their opinion.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: You have to trust them.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, if you're first overall, it's you know, great,
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: but you just, I mean, we go through you know,
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: the twenty twenty one quarterbacks where i mean.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Look at look back now.
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: If you look back now, which you knew, like Trey Lay,
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: it's i mean just the fields probably still would have
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: gone very, very high. But you know, it's just it's
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: it's it's such a hard business to project, and you
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: don't know when you're gonna get this tough pick, and
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: you know something, you're just kind of crossing your fingers
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: and hoping that this is the one year that the
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: second best quarterback is going to be actually really good too,
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: and not you know, one of these years where it's
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence and the also rans right.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Jeff and Brooklyn. Speaking of Jaden Daniels in an interview,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: he took time out to point that his coach loves him.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: He felt that and genuinely pointed out that the emotion
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: made all the difference in the world in its success.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: So there's your modern athlete and coach relationship. I think
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: this is the void in Bill's game. He doesn't trust
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: his players to play. They're just tools to him. I
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: don't know about that. I don't think that's true at all. No,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I think it's kind of the opposite. He tries to
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: pick guys that he does trust and that want to
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: be coached, and that he wants to coach, and you know,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: so I don't believe that at all. Thanks for reading
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: my emails, and yes, from yesterday, mutinous is fair. When
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: Bill throws a fit, drafts stubbornly in order to prove
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: a point about how great he is, and publicly chides
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: his boss, it's just him acting out. But call it
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: what you will. All right, Well, I think we said
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: that his use of the word muteness was a little
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: strong yesterday.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, I mean, I don't know.
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: I just I still balk at people who say that
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: Bill is purposely making decisions to be to like spite
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: people like I still think that he's making decisions that
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: he thinks is going to make win football games. And
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: they can be wrong, and certainly he's missed. But I
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: just don't really buy the whole soap opera narrative of
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: he's got this whole like you know, black Book.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: Of I think that's I think this guy. I think
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: he reads our roundup, and whatever I say he should do,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: he does the opposite.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Right. Well, I mean, who knows that might work.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: But Nick and Connecticut Evan brought up Kyler Murray last show,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: and it gave me an idea for a hypothetical offseason move.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: I'm interested in what you all would do if the
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: teams stay where they currently are in the draft. Stand
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: these Cardinals three, Patriots two. Would you do this trade?
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Patriots receive Kyler Murray, the third pick, draft Marvin Harrison
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: junior on offensive tackle, and a second. The Cardinals get
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: picked two, They draft a quarterback and a fourth.
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: Uh yeah, I don't hate it. I mean, I'm not
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: really on the Marvin Harrison train. I just like, you know,
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: going back to Evans Ran, I think that you're a
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: ways away from, you know, trying to add that piece.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: But but no, no, I think that's uh, you know, intriguing,
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: especially if somebody's you know, wants to trade up to
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: two overall, and Carol and and the Cardinals are sitting
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: right below you, and they, you know, say hey, here's
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: a quarterback, and then.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: You know, I mean, I'd go with Kyler Murray and
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: Joe All.
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: I mean, you know, Kyler Murrays had injury issues. I
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: think his problem isn't you know, getting the ball. The receivers,
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: it's it's staying on the field. So you'd want to
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: protect them, and then you know you're able to get
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: another maybe you get them a weapon in the second round.
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: This is there's been so many good receivers in the
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: second round.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: And I mean Deebo, Samuel i Uk.
- 1:18:51Speaker 5: Those guys are all bottom of the first early second round,
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: guys that you know developed there out there. Every single
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: year there's second round guys who are excellent extra Yeah,
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: but their talent.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Is evident, Like even though they were second round guys.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: You looked at him at the combine, you looked at him.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: What they didn't. It's just evident that these are really
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: great athletes. You know, trust that trust the film.
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: And that's what was so frustrating, I think is when
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: I think most people, you know, amateur scouts like me
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: who watched you know, Deebo.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: Samuel, and you're like, this, this is your kind of guy.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: This guy plays the tough kind of football you want.
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: He does everything, he'll carry.
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: The ball, complicated, you know.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I'm like, Harry, I mean, we talked ourselves into Nikhil, Harry,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: you know, bigger.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: He looks good.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you looked at the film, he didn't
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: get separation. If he's not going to get separation in college,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: he's certainly not going to get it in the NFL.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: And we just we overlooked that, I know, and then you.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: Know, and then you ty Thornton and who. Yeah, he's fast,
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: but he's not tough physical guy.
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: And I mean he just gets muscled off the ball still,
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: it's anything that's contested with him, he's going fly in.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: So it's I don't know, it's just I think it's
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: frustrating for you know, people like Evan and I who
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: you know, you put time into this, and you know,
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: and especially a fast team fast, you know, but it's
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: like and you feel so stupid because you're like, I
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: hate to say it, but I just don't see it.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: And I know that these are the professionals who have
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: been in the game and have been trained by greats,
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: and you know, we're and I mean, granted, I have
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: been doing it for like fifteen years now, so I
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: guess that does count for something. But you know, you
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: just you feel stupid being like I don't think this
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: is the right move for them, but like in hindsight,
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: you're like, I don't know what to say. We were right,
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: they were wrong. I don't know, Kyle and Pembroke.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: My question to you is, if you could only have
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: one happened this season, which would you rather the defensive
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: system stays the same, but the offensive system stays the
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: same as well, or have the offensive system be updated
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: but the defensive system changes as well.
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: I'd probably go number one, just because I'm not as
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: much of one of the I'm not as much on
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: the train of like this offensive system is antiquated and
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: it doesn't really work anymore, you know. I just I
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: think that that can be tweaked. I don't think that
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: it's anything is really set in stone with the offensive system.
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: I like what they do on defense, but I don't
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: really I don't really think that like what they do
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: on defense makes them all that special. Like I just
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: think that they have good players that play well, you know,
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: and that's why they're good. It's not because they have
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: for safeties that you know, they're kind of constantly rotating
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: like this guy's is fine. But I just I think
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: that that they can make that they make a good defense,
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: even if they were running another scheme they've got They've
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: got some good players on defensive.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: Side of the ball, and that's why they're good, Robert
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: from Tennessee. Fans like Robert from Tennessee, with their total
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: loyalty to Bill, are understandable. We had somebody call yesterday
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: a very good call. Yep, but they have it all wrong,
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: says Eric the Red in Mebane, North Carolina. Older fans
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: like me and some of you have seen so many
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: players and coaches come and go over the course of
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: our lives. At some point you learn that the loyalty
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: has to be to the team, not the team member.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: No one knows this better than Bill, the first one
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: to sacrifice a player or coach on the altar of winning.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I will always be grateful for the years of joy
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: to us fans. I also learned from him that it's
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: far it's better to cut bait too soon than too late.
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a lot of that going on right now
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: with when you're too early, when you're too late, those
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: kind of things.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: I mean, we talked about it yesterday. We've just we've
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: had a close look at a bad football team for
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: a few years and you know, it's it's it's getting old.
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: And as much as those.
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: Those wins were great, and win in the Super Bowl,
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: you know, five years ago was great, it's you know,
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: you gotta you gotta be honest, I mean, and like
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: this team goes on after Bill Belichick. We've all known
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: that this team's going to be around for you know,
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: as long as football is around, hopefully.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: We do have a question about the game. Marty writes
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: in looking ahead to the Broncos, what do we need
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: to take away from their offense at the beginning of
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: the year, I'd have to say Judy, but it seems
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: like Courtland Sutton has surpassed him, and how and given
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: how their offense has looked, are your feelings now different
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: than in the summer about not making a move for
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Judy in the offseason.
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: I mean, now it has just been a waste of assets.
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think he would have made any difference.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: But for me, it's the big plays.
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: I think that's what's always haunted me with Russell Wilson
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: and something's great down the field. Bill talk about that,
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: you saw a bunch of big plays last week, blown coverages.
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: You're gonna probably see Sean Wayde and Alex Austin out
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: there and getting a bunch of snaps. So I think
- 1:23:15Speaker 5: for me, I'm not really too worried about the run
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: game or you know, they're not that great on that
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: side of the ball. But I think Russell Wilson's always
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: been real good getting the ball down the field.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: Especially when the quarterbacks scrambling too. It seems like the secondary.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: Can sometimes slaton down giving up and you don't.
- 1:23:29Speaker 7: Think the guy's gonna scramble and get the playoff, and
- 1:23:31Speaker 7: then he does and it's this huge explosive play, and
- 1:23:34Speaker 7: it's he just hit so much.
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: Russell Wilson throws such a beautiful deep ball. I mean
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: it's like, you know, it's like this moon ball.
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: I mean it looks like it's like launching at like
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: a fifty degree angle up and then it just like
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: drops down. I mean when I was in Seattle a
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: couple times, I guess once in twenty twelve saw him
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: throw some.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: I mean, it's just it's uncanny how he does it.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Let's go to Eldred, North Carolina. What's up Eldred?
- 1:23:56Speaker 16: Aldred the Greatest Podcast are doing?
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Thank you?
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: This a Marvin Harrison question.
- 1:24:02Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah, you're right. I wish I was there with you,
- 1:24:06Speaker 16: because you're right. You are amateur scout. You don't watch
- 1:24:08Speaker 16: no college football or none of that right until till
- 1:24:12Speaker 16: the last door is then correct.
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I've seen That's what I'm saying.
- 1:24:17Speaker 16: I watched through the year, and I also gout years
- 1:24:20Speaker 16: before too. But Harrison is the best player in the draft.
- 1:24:25Speaker 16: He is, and Caleb Williams is a head case.
- 1:24:30Speaker 15: You know.
- 1:24:31Speaker 16: I see Drake May in North Carolina. Yeah, he got
- 1:24:34Speaker 16: the side he got he got a little speed, but
- 1:24:36Speaker 16: as far as you know, getting to the right reads
- 1:24:39Speaker 16: and stuff, it's a little different. But but me, I know,
- 1:24:43Speaker 16: you Jim, you get a good tackle in the third
- 1:24:46Speaker 16: round from Wisconsin. Uh, the guy on the left side,
- 1:24:49Speaker 16: you get one there, You get a in the fourth round.
- 1:24:52Speaker 16: You get a right tackle from Iowa State, And he's
- 1:24:55Speaker 16: good if you wanted to type of bill like you know,
- 1:24:58Speaker 16: But Harrison gonna be my first pick. And I don't
- 1:25:03Speaker 16: want Drake May. I wouldn't kidd of William chucking around.
- 1:25:06Speaker 16: I'll get get Michael Piner. That's your other quarterback, okay,
- 1:25:11Speaker 16: Like I said.
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sorry to go ahead.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: He's a lefty right the Pennix.
- 1:25:17Speaker 16: He's a lefty. If he reminds you Steve Young in
- 1:25:20Speaker 16: a way accurate, short, door, long, and he can run.
- 1:25:24Speaker 16: But he was the one thing I like about him
- 1:25:26Speaker 16: that made they got up with May and William. He
- 1:25:28Speaker 16: plays in the weather. He could throws in the wind.
- 1:25:30Speaker 16: He could throw it in the right the un You
- 1:25:32Speaker 16: guys can't do that. I don't see them too much
- 1:25:34Speaker 16: to do that. May can't do that. That's why Florida
- 1:25:37Speaker 16: State tore that but up when we played him. So
- 1:25:41Speaker 16: I'm a Florida State guy, Jordan Travis. I hate my
- 1:25:45Speaker 16: quarterback fail out because he got hurt. He gonna fall
- 1:25:48Speaker 16: down to the fourth or fifth round. And that boy
- 1:25:50Speaker 16: is a good talent too. They six one, you know,
- 1:25:53Speaker 16: but y'all have a good.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: One, all right. It's getting to be Eldred season.
- 1:25:57Speaker 22: I know.
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: I mean, I'm glad that I'm glad that Ma Harrison
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: exists for him because that we know, that's what he'll
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: be doing all year.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: That's he loves them.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: He loves his wide receivers.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: He's got a type, a type we've.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Got to get to picks. Richard and Minnesota writes in
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Love the show. Heard you in recent shows, debating where
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: the phrase taking the chalk came from?
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: Have you heard this before?
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Evan doesn't let it go.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: A year later, I wanted to let you know. It's
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: an old horse betting term. When the odds of horses
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: were written on a chalk board, the odds and the
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: favorite would change much more than the long shots due
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: to the more bets being placed on it. So the
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: board operator would have to erase their line many many
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: times to update it, and that would leave behind more
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: chalk on the favorite than the others. Therefore, the term
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: chalk is applied to the favorite.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: Wow, all right, little history there, I say too. I
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: hope just everybody's checking out.
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: Kyle Dugam miked up from from last week and to
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: the point of, uh, you know, Bill wanting robot.
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: It's interesting kind of little clip.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: And Kyle Duger miked up where he's talking about you
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: know when you guys blitz like you kind of implied that,
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: you know, the players do have a sense of a
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: little bit of freedom on the on the field.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: So go check out Kyle.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Douglam micd up yeah extended. I mean it's more than
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: the usual length of these micd up.
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: It's pretty cool. We don't get enough of these, so
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: it's good.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: Good thing they use the subtitles though. Oh you caunderstand
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: half of you got it? Said? Yeah all right, Uh
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: so it's that time of the week.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: Good mate, good way. Oh wait, I gotta be ready
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: to do so now.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: First deuce, Paul tells us what happened last week.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Well, order has been restored. I'm gonna try to do
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: these little little Paul twist on them.
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: Uh. First Paul twelve and four, Oh boy? Uh, Second
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: Deuce thirteen and three.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: Nice week from No, wait a minute, you said Paul
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: was twelve and four. You were thirteen and threes. Ok?
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: Sorry, yes, so you won? Yeah you won. I'm just
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: like differ.
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: I'm like, of course Paul must have won. He's so great,
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: all right, So I won. That's where I Paul take that.
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: Uh tied in second Alex and Evan at eleven and
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: five and Fred ten and six.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Boy.
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: Yeah, So with the spread, however it's it was, it was,
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: it wasn't as close. Paul did run away with it
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: with the spread ten to four and two. Big week
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: for Paul, then Fred seven to seven and two, and
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: then a three way tie down the bottom six eight
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: and two for Mike, Alex and Evan. So I'm gonna
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: have to tell you and standings we've got probably does
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: this nice by the way, I mean, it's just you know,
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: it's all laid.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Out for me. You think I would have been doing
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: it since he was four years old making book.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: I mean, if only some of us new thirteen was
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: more than twelve. So Paul still leads one, fifteen, ninety eight.
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: And eleven, followed This is the season, where's Alex?
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: Alex is Oh god, I'm screwing this up so bad.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: I'm so bad. All right, let me restart this. This
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: is just overall regular, straight up.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: Alex still leads one, forty two and eighty two, followed
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: by Paul one thirty nine eighty five, Evan one thirty
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: four and ninety Uh oh no.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: Wait, sorry, Deuce, Deuce is messing.
- 1:29:12Speaker 8: This up so bad, it's not as easy to No,
- 1:29:15Speaker 8: it's not.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: It's not. I like it ordered, change that to me. Uh,
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: one thirty five and eighty nine.
- 1:29:22Speaker 14: Uh.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: Then Evan is one thirty four and ninety and Fred
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: one thirty three and ninety one. So duce climbing out
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: of the basement there, still very close now with the spread.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna do this right this time, I promise everyone.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: Paul one fifteen, ninety eight and eleven, followed by Alex
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: one oh seven, one oh six and eleven, then Evan
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: one O three, one ten and eleven, Fred one O
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: two eleven, one eleven and eleven.
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: And Deuce ninety seven one sixteen and eleven.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Paul running away with the spread.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: That was that was hard?
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, So now, all right, we're gonna just
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: go with the odds that Paul has written here.
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: I didn't update them or check them, so we'll just
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: go with.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, because that's how he picked his game, so we
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: might as well use the same odds that he used.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: All right, that makes sense, I guess.
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: I guess I'll just tee it up since Morrel's here
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: and I feel like Matisa is not ready to all
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: these lines.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: All right, so I I will start. Okay, hold on,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: you know tonight is how it works, is old works
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: this way. No, you're off frazzled different. And so what
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: we'll do is you first, Alex. You'll do Paul in
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: the right water, and then I'll go okay, okay, so
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: that we don't screw that up. All right? Tonight on
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: eight fifteen on Prime it's the seven and seven Saints
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: at the seven and seven Rams.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: ROMs ROMs by four, and so I guess do I
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: go first?
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: All right, I'm gonna go first to keep it going.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: Uh yeah, I think the Rams are pretty good with
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: with Stafford. I'm gonna take for Evan, but we'll blast,
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: we'll blast, do it real quick with him, We'll do
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: speed round. I will take the Rams both ways, Okay, Alex.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I also took the Rams both ways.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: You took them. You already prepared for this.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: I did today. I prepared because I feel over taking it.
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: I feel Paul breathing down my next.
- 1:31:14Speaker 7: So this week I was like, I cannot chow three
- 1:31:17Speaker 7: games behind and I need to get it together.
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: I'm gonna put I'm gonna put a little research in today.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: So Paul is also.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Larla Larlar for Paul yep, well he loves his Matthew
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: Stafford all right now we uh and I also will
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: take the Larla. So now, two games on Saturday. The
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: first one is at four thirty on NBC. I'm sure
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: the eight and six Bengals are at the seven and
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: seven Steelers.
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: This will be Cincinnati by two, and I am going
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: to take Cincinnati by two, and I'm gonna lay those
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: two points. So I'm going Cincinnati Cincinnati.
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: Yeah, Steelers at home usually makes gives me pause. But
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: I don't know. I think they're starting to fall apart.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: They are.
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: I don't know how Cincinnati's pulling this all together.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Jake Brownie chucking duck.
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: Yeah, I want to say that it's gonna be up
- 1:32:11Speaker 7: this week, but I just don't have that faith in
- 1:32:14Speaker 7: the Steelers.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: So I took the Bengals both ways, all.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Right, since since what is Paul Paul is pit?
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: Pitt Paul is pit pitched. Yeah, I thought i'd be
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: on an iron hell Alex pressure on that one.
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: The Steelers at home, and so.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, usually I'm going to take the Steelers both ways
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: as well. Bengals, I think right now are obviously the
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: better team. Steelers are reeling, they're falling apart, they're questioning Tomlin,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: they're questioning the culture. But it's a division game.
- 1:32:42Speaker 16: Uh.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: These games are always tough. I think the Steelers get
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: up for this game. I think they play hard for Tomlin.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: They're hearing the noise. So I'm gonna go with the
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Steelers as well, plus the fact that I can never
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: pick the Bengals. Saturday night at eight thirty U is
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: a game on Peacock.
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: So in the fourth quarter I saw too.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: No commercials in the fourth quarter. That's pretty interesting. So
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: this is an NBC own day. Peacock is obviously their
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: streaming service. I don't know who in this room has
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: access to Peacock. Does everyone have Peacock? But y'all, I
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: don't think I have everything.
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: I don't think I have the paid peacock, but I
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: got the regular peacock everybody has.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: You can turn on your mic oh, turn on hello everybody.
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: Yeah, everybody has Peacock. You just might not pay for
- 1:33:32Speaker 8: the for the premium.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Okay, okay, And in this game on the normal peacock, yeah, you.
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: Can get it. Get it on the cock.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: Jesus Christ. Wow, all right, in the beginning of the
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: show is like I'm seeing balls.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: Too much.
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Around the horn. Okay, so so black Buffalo by eleven
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: and a half.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: Buffalo eight and six, Buffalo at the five and nine Chargers.
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Buffalo both ways.
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: I'm gonna lay all eleven of those eleven and a
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: half of those points, Miss Alex.
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: I'm also rallying for the Bills.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: Yeah, buff and Evan, you can join the fray here.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:10Speaker 8: I didn't pick the first couple of games, but I'll
- 1:34:11Speaker 8: tell you later.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Okay, what's this game again?
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: Buffalo Bill's Charlot Chargers.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Was eleven and a half.
- 1:34:17Speaker 8: Yeah, Bills, Bills, Yeah.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: Buff buff Paul is buff lack soul thinks that is
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: going to keep it close.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna go Bills both ways. To me, they're
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: they're the hot team. They're the hot team.
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: Hot stuff.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: Before we move on to uh Sunday's games, Evan, any
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: updates from practice?
- 1:34:36Speaker 8: Yes, I don't know.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Do we have the song?
- 1:34:39Speaker 22: No?
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we have to play the.
- 1:34:40Speaker 12: Song has returned pact and then has returned.
- 1:34:48Speaker 14: Has returned.
- 1:34:50Speaker 8: The All right? I have to say so many people
- 1:34:57Speaker 8: tell tell us about how much they love the song.
- 1:35:00Speaker 8: So I'm just giving the people what they want.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: It's right for you to do.
- 1:35:04Speaker 8: So, yeah, it's a hit. Okay, So sorry, dudes, not
- 1:35:08Speaker 8: spotted Jerrel Peppers, Ormandra Stevenson, Connor McDermott. Two new absences,
- 1:35:14Speaker 8: Anthony Jennings and Cody Davis. But it is it's it's
- 1:35:18Speaker 8: it's cold You mentioned Henry there, I'm getting there. Okay,
- 1:35:22Speaker 8: it's cold season, you know. So I I they weren't
- 1:35:25Speaker 8: on the injury report yesterday, so I would imagine that
- 1:35:27Speaker 8: maybe that's an illness situation and tight end hunter. Henry
- 1:35:31Speaker 8: was back at practice.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: But I'll tell you what, I give him a lot
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: of credits this, ye do, I do?
- 1:35:39Speaker 8: Yeah, But there's a butt. He was at practice, but
- 1:35:43Speaker 8: he wasn't doing very much of anything for the time
- 1:35:45Speaker 8: that we were out there. He wasn't uniform to have
- 1:35:48Speaker 8: practice gear on and everything, but it was it was
- 1:35:51Speaker 8: very very light participation.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: If you had to put your money on whether he
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: plays or not, what would you say?
- 1:35:58Speaker 8: No, I say yes, yes because of any playing time.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: Alex nailed it. He's hockey tough.
- 1:36:05Speaker 8: But I would say yes because I don't Yeah, if
- 1:36:10Speaker 8: he's out there today, it signals that it was probably
- 1:36:13Speaker 8: just like a bad bone bruise, you know, type of hit,
- 1:36:16Speaker 8: not like structural damage.
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: Yeah, he's spectating. I feel like it's for a reason.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, subject I think he plays. Yeah yeah, but
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: he's he's been taking a beating for sure.
- 1:36:27Speaker 8: Yeah, ZAPPI threw him some hospital balls.
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, So now we can move on to Sunday
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: at one on Fox. The eight and six Colts are
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: at the six and eight Falcons.
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: That's gonna be the Falcons by one, and I know
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: I think they're making another quarterback change there in the
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: at L.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with Indy on this one. I just
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: think they've been just cutting loose and having fun with it.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: So all right, Indie, Indy Evan, uh cold set Falcons.
- 1:36:56Speaker 8: Yeah, sorry, I'm catching up here. Uh yeah. I like
- 1:36:59Speaker 8: the Colts in this game too. I think Steichen Coach
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: of the year maybe. And also Philly's offense is kind
- 1:37:05Speaker 8: of dropped off without him, so I wonder how much
- 1:37:08Speaker 8: of a he had to do with that last year.
- 1:37:11Speaker 8: He might be a sneaky good coach, maybe not even
- 1:37:13Speaker 8: sneaky anymore.
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: Alex, who did you pick already? Did take the well
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: love this.
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: I think I'm worried, Alex, you might be overthinking this
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: right now you're actually doing research and stuff.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: That's when it's but No, I feel good. I'm taking
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: the Colts as well, and it makes me feel better
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: that Alex is taking it.
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: Paul, Falcons are just too Yeah, you never know what you're.
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: Gonna get out them. They're they're They're the Detroit Lions
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: of the modern day. Paul was Indie Indy too, by
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: the way, Indie Indy for Paul. One o'clock on Fox.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: The six and eight Packers are at the two and twelve.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Panthers Go Green Go Panthers, Right.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: Go Panthers.
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: Yeah, that's gonna be green Bay by five. And as
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: much as I want to pick the Carolina, I just
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: Green Bay sporadic. They're a young team, but I think
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: they got some talent and I think they're gonna knock
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: off Carolina. I'll take Green Bay Green Bay.
- 1:38:04Speaker 8: Yeah, I've been I was really surprised that the Packers
- 1:38:07Speaker 8: lost to the Bucks at home last week. That was
- 1:38:09Speaker 8: a weird one. But I still think that offensively that
- 1:38:12Speaker 8: Jordan Love has been playing pretty well. So I'm going
- 1:38:14Speaker 8: to take the Packers here. I'll take them to cover.
- 1:38:17Speaker 8: I just think that they're going to score too many
- 1:38:18Speaker 8: points for Carolina.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the Packers win. I think Panthers go
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: back to reality this week.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: What's Paul say?
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: Paul says Green Bay Carolina.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: So Paul, I agree with Paul. I believe that the
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: Panthers will lose, but not five more than five and
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: a half.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: Paul is the spread master yep like spreading Mao on
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: the same.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: An Italian one o'clock on CBS nine and five Browns
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: are at the eight and six Texans.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: Browns by two and a half sounds like, what's his
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: face still in the coach and protocol?
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: You know what I'm talking about? Stroud.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take Cleveland. I think, you know, talk
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: about coach of the Year candidates. They just continue to
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: play play hard. I'll take Cleveland both ways.
- 1:39:08Speaker 8: I am going to take the Browns both ways too.
- 1:39:12Speaker 8: I do think the Textans will be feisty in this game, though,
- 1:39:15Speaker 8: but two and a half.
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: Is yeah, it's not even a hook.
- 1:39:18Speaker 8: Yeah, it's not even Yeah. I think the Browns that
- 1:39:20Speaker 8: makes sense.
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: I take the Browns both ways too.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Yeah, what does Paul say?
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: Paul says cleek clee, Yeah, me too.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: That defense travels. Yep, gotta give them credit. One o'clock
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: on Fox, the ten and four Lions are at the
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: seven and seven Vikings.
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: Lions by a three and a half. We talk a
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: little bit about Minnesota here divisional battle.
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: Anyone own anyone?
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: I would guess Minnesota generally owns Detroit because that's usually
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: how it's gone. But I'm gonna take Detroit and I'm
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: gonna get a little wacky, a little weird, little crazy.
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Minnesota with the hook three point set
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: number again three and a half.
- 1:39:57Speaker 8: So I assume this is a Nick Mullins g Nick
- 1:40:00Speaker 8: Mullen's special for the Vikings. I'm gonna take the Lions
- 1:40:04Speaker 8: both ways though. I was pretty impressed watching them against
- 1:40:07Speaker 8: the Broncos last week. That's not a bad Broncos team.
- 1:40:09Speaker 8: The Patriots are playing and the Lions made them look bad.
- 1:40:12Speaker 8: That offensive line is is my dream come true? That's great.
- 1:40:15Speaker 8: That's a really good offense lines.
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: Didn't they like it? They're they're like guard or something
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: like that. The Patriots liked one of their guys.
- 1:40:21Speaker 8: Frank, Now, yeah, that was one.
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I did what I split Lions win Vikings points.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: And Paul did Detroit Detroit, and I will do Detroit
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Detroit as well. All right, Uh, Sunday at once on CBS,
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: the four and ten Commanders are at the five and
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: nine Jets.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: Jets by three, Jets by three.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: That's weird. That's a weird one backing for them.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: And I don't even know right now. No, he's he's
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: he's out cushion protocol too. Do you see him get crushed?
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: He got absolutely just destroyed. I don't know. I'm gonna go.
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: I'm gonna go Walkton Washington on this one.
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: That's what Paul did too.
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: Yeah. I don't even I don't even know who's playing
- 1:41:07Speaker 8: quarterback for the Jets. I'm trying to figure it out
- 1:41:09Speaker 8: really quickly. I don't. I gotta say, if they lose
- 1:41:13Speaker 8: this game to the Commanders, like, are we sure Robert
- 1:41:16Speaker 8: sala is going to be the coach there next year?
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: Because all of these other teams are winning with backup
- 1:41:20Speaker 8: quarterbacks and like, you know, being feisty and things like that,
- 1:41:24Speaker 8: and that Jets team is terrible. Like at some point
- 1:41:26Speaker 8: you got to look at the.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: Coll The backup was Zach Wilson.
- 1:41:29Speaker 8: Yeah, and like the Browns have started like four different
- 1:41:32Speaker 8: quarterbacks and one games with all of them, you know,
- 1:41:35Speaker 8: like it just at some point, like I keep hearing
- 1:41:37Speaker 8: about how great the roster is in New York, how
- 1:41:39Speaker 8: great the roster is, and it's like, well, then you
- 1:41:41Speaker 8: should be able to win some games with with whoever
- 1:41:44Speaker 8: is that quarterback? Like if you can win a game
- 1:41:45Speaker 8: with d t R if you're the Browns, I'm gonna,
- 1:41:48Speaker 8: I'm gonna take the Commanders in this game. I gonna
- 1:41:51Speaker 8: I'm gonna take the upset. And I just I think
- 1:41:53Speaker 8: it might be coming a part in New York.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: I do yeah, uh, what do they know? Do they
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: know someone like hurt on the.
- 1:42:04Speaker 8: Well, they don't have a quarterback and you know they
- 1:42:07Speaker 8: just lost thirty to nothing to to the Dolphins.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: Like I don't know a favorite. Yeah, I don't know
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: about Paul's numbers. Maybe have to check them.
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: All right, we got Commanders, I guess both ways.
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: I get bringing endorsement.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: What is Paul thinking? Washwash washwash, I'm gonna go Jets.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: I think the Commanders are having trouble too, so I mean,
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: Ron Rivera is on the hot seat, so I'm I'm
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: gonna go with Jets at home. Their defense rallies both
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: ways both ways. Yep. They cover Sunday at one CBS.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: The seven and seven Seahawks are at the five and
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: nine Titans.
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: This is the Seahawks by two and a half. These
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: are These are two deuced favorite ancillary teams.
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: I love the Seahawks growing up, and we all know
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: my feeling toward Raabel and when worlds collide, I'm gonna
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: take Seattle both ways.
- 1:43:02Speaker 8: By the way, it would be Trevor Simeon for the
- 1:43:05Speaker 8: for the Jets.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: It's like you're lying.
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: Cool.
- 1:43:09Speaker 8: Yeah, I am worried about Seattle traveling at one o'clock
- 1:43:15Speaker 8: game on the East coast. Those there are always a
- 1:43:18Speaker 8: tough spot. It sounds like Gino Smith is going to
- 1:43:20Speaker 8: be back. I don't know if that's a good thing
- 1:43:21Speaker 8: or a bad thing. After how Drew Locke played, I'm
- 1:43:25Speaker 8: gonna go with Seattle. I just think they're a better team,
- 1:43:28Speaker 8: but I don't love it. But I'm gonna go Seattle
- 1:43:32Speaker 8: less for the spread one more time.
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: Seattle by two and a half, very close.
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: I have Seattle both ways.
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: Paul, Paul went Tennessee both ways.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: Yeah, which Titans team comes out? Yeah, Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: go with Seattle. I think they've been competitive all year, yeah,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: rally after last year. Yeah, I think so. I'm gonna
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: go with the Seahawks. All right. Now we move to
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: the four o'clock game five, there's only one at four
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: or five. The eight and six Jaguars are at these
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: seven and seven Buccaneers.
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: They take a bust to this one when right, this
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: is Tampa Bay by one. Yeah. Kind of an interesting game,
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: you know, two teams trying to make a case. I
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: feel like Battle of Florida. Yeah, that's a tough one.
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: I I think they got a little mojo though in Tampa,
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: and I'm not sure about Lawrence's hell, so I'm gonna
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: go Tampa Tampa.
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:44:24Speaker 8: The Jags have lost three straight after that winning Trevor
- 1:44:27Speaker 8: Lawrence right now, and I think he's playing, but he's playing,
- 1:44:31Speaker 8: playing through it is what he's doing.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:44:35Speaker 8: The Jaguars are the weird team. I don't know how
- 1:44:38Speaker 8: to pick them. I'm gonna I'm gonna take the Jags
- 1:44:41Speaker 8: in this game. I just think that they are a
- 1:44:43Speaker 8: little bit more motivated. They have bigger aspirations. So I'm
- 1:44:45Speaker 8: gonna take the Jags.
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: Okay, I have, but.
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: It's like, realistically, is Baker going to string together that
- 1:44:55Speaker 7: wins in a row.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know.
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: Maybe I don't got a lot of bets.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: I don't know. Wah.
- 1:45:01Speaker 8: This is a tough one for Fred because like Baker
- 1:45:03Speaker 8: and Trevor, it's like two of these guys.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: I know, let Baker bake.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: I've I've picked against the Bucks and I've been burned
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: for it. So I guess I'll just ride with him. Buccaneers.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Wow, all right, what is Polly saw?
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: Is Tampa? Tampa?
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Jaguars in this game.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: I think they bounced back.
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it's I went with Baker the one time Fred didn't.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Great, it's a.
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: Tough box this week. I feel like she's wearing I.
- 1:45:34Speaker 22: Know.
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: I feel it's a toss up. This is a toss up.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: Four to twenty five on Fox. The three and eleven
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: Cardinals are at the five and nine Bears.
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: Oh, it's a top five game. It's the Chicago by four.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: Probably the most they've favored this year.
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: Yeah, what a gross game.
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: I'm not sure I'm gonna I'm gonna take Chicago, but
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: I'm gonna split it. I'll take the easy points and
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: see what happens.
- 1:46:02Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't I don't love taking this many upsets.
- 1:46:06Speaker 8: I kind of want to take the Cardinals in this
- 1:46:08Speaker 8: game because I feel like even like forty five twenty
- 1:46:11Speaker 8: nine against San Francisco is kind of like a win
- 1:46:13Speaker 8: for the Cardinals, like that, you like, didn't get completely
- 1:46:15Speaker 8: dismantled by the Niners. But yeah, I guess the Bears
- 1:46:21Speaker 8: in that weather Dome team Cardinals. I'll take the Bears,
- 1:46:24Speaker 8: but I'm gonna take the points for the Cardinals.
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: I'll take the Bears out.
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: Right, Okay, and Paul took the Bears Bears, and as
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: I I will too.
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: Bears Bears, uh four five on Fox ten and four
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: Cowboys at the ten and four Dolphins.
- 1:46:41Speaker 8: Okay, here.
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: One after you know, Mike McDaniel taking all the blame
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: and dropping f bombs left and right.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: Good game, though, I'm excited to watch a little bit
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: of hopefully I'm gonna say, hm, damn, I'm gonna go
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: with I'm gonna go with Miami at home both ways.
- 1:47:00Speaker 8: Okay, Yeah, This is a tough one because both teams
- 1:47:03Speaker 8: play a better home. But is Tyreek and play in
- 1:47:07Speaker 8: this game? I don't think so. And yesterday, starting somebody tweeted,
- 1:47:16Speaker 8: I'm sorry, I can't remember who. That just said the
- 1:47:18Speaker 8: entire starting offensive line absent from practice. I didn't even
- 1:47:21Speaker 8: name names, just said the entire start of Miami, Yeah,
- 1:47:25Speaker 8: against Mike Michael Parsons in Dallas. So I'm gonna take Dallas.
- 1:47:29Speaker 8: But I think mainly, you know, they don't travel well necessarily.
- 1:47:32Speaker 8: But this isn't a cold weather game. This is just
- 1:47:35Speaker 8: a road game. So I like Dallas.
- 1:47:36Speaker 14: It's too hot.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: I kind of like Dallas to avengeless.
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: Kind of not really.
- 1:47:44Speaker 8: Are you married to it?
- 1:47:45Speaker 4: No, I'm not. I wrote down the Dolphins, so you
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: love it?
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: Are you in love with it?
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: It's settling. I'm settling.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: I'm gonna take that.
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: I'm gonna take.
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: Miami, Miami both ways.
- 1:47:54Speaker 8: Oh, by the way, how is Nick's stake burrito?
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: Yesterday was a little moldy? Miami Miami.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Paul as well, I hate picking the Cowboys, but I
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: have to here, Okay, So I am gonna go with
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: the couch. Sounds like I'm gonna pick up some ground
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: on Paul this one. You could we're gonna skip over
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: the Patriots Sunday night and we're going to a triple
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: header on Christmas Day, Monday, one o'clock on CBS. In Nickelodeon,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: they're gonna have this alternate version game on Nickelodeon.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: You guys made fun of me for the toy Story game.
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: It was kind of awesome, was it?
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: Okay? The six and eight Raiders are at the nine
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: to five.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: Chiefs gonna be Chiefs by ten, which a big number,
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: and I think, like, I don't know, I just wasn't
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: all that impressed with Casey last week.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: I mean, Mahomes is awesome, but it seems like Kelsey's
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: wearing down and they got some issues.
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take Casey to win, but I'm gonna
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: take those points in a divisional game, I think the
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: Raiders are gonna play fast and loose and score some points.
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: Yeah. So the Raiders scored sixty three points last week
- 1:49:00Speaker 8: and the Chargers fired their head coach, so I'm not
- 1:49:02Speaker 8: really sure how much that really matters. I really like
- 1:49:05Speaker 8: the Chiefs in this game. They have like they're they're
- 1:49:08Speaker 8: not as good as they usually are, but they still
- 1:49:10Speaker 8: have that Patriots thing where like they just take care
- 1:49:12Speaker 8: of business against bad teams. And I think the Chiefs
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: win and I think they'll and cover. I think they cover,
- 1:49:19Speaker 8: but like it's it's, you know, one of those that's
- 1:49:21Speaker 8: like late that door. Yeah, I'm not really great cover,
- 1:49:24Speaker 8: but a cover Chiefs, Chiefs.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I'm tempted to take the points here, but I'm not
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: gonna do it. I'm gonna take the Chiefs both ways.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: So all right, four thirty on Fox, the five and
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: nine Giants are at the ten and four Eagles Modern
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: Eagles by eleven and a half. Moron, that's a big one. Man.
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: If this wasn't the Giants, I would probably take those
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: points and think it was gonna be close. But I
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: don't know.
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: I just I feel like Phillies kind of do for
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: for a get right kind of game. I think it
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: might be today this one. So I'm gonna take Philly, Philly.
- 1:50:00Speaker 8: I'm gonna take Philly, but I'm taking Tommy Cutlets to
- 1:50:03Speaker 8: cover that spread.
- 1:50:04Speaker 13: I am.
- 1:50:05Speaker 8: I'm worried about the Eagles. The Eagles are.
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: Gonna go off.
- 1:50:09Speaker 8: Well. Apparently that it was like he hired a marketing agent.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: Oh so it wasn't his actual.
- 1:50:17Speaker 8: The marketing correct like his player contract agent is still
- 1:50:21Speaker 8: the guy that Paul knows that I don't know his name.
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: Everybody getting the palm in the in the in the
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: in the Yeah.
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: Yeah, I think the Eagles are in real trouble. Their
- 1:50:28Speaker 8: their offense is really simple. Uh, their defense is exposing
- 1:50:33Speaker 8: the back end, and I think Tommy Cutletz keeps it
- 1:50:36Speaker 8: at least within the spread of third. That's a big spread.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:50:39Speaker 8: Then the Giants have been playing decent football.
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: So gotchas Eagles.
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: Paul isles Eagles too.
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm very comfortable here taking the points. So it's Eagles,
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: but I'm taking the points. Giants. Keep it under that number.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: Eight point fifteen. On ABC, ESPN plus esp and de Portes,
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: the eleven and three Ravens are at the eleven and
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: three forty nine Ers game. What a game.
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: We're all going to be porked with food and presence.
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: What's that pork? Sorry, no, no pork. I mean this
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: interesting game. How we pick it? I'm gonna take. I'm
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: gonna take San Francisco at home. I will lay the points.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: I think it'll be a good game. But I think
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: San francisc will win six points more.
- 1:51:26Speaker 8: I have to stay with the bit. So I'm going
- 1:51:28Speaker 8: to take the Ravens in this game, upset special and
- 1:51:32Speaker 8: this is the game. You know, Mike McDonald, the Ravens
- 1:51:36Speaker 8: defensive coordinator, getting some love around the league. He's going
- 1:51:39Speaker 8: to make brock Party look like mister irrelevant.
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: You wish Ravens alex.
- 1:51:45Speaker 7: Rock Party MVP securing game. Personally, I like Caffrey for it,
- 1:51:51Speaker 7: but yeah.
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: Is that why you like m He's got great apps?
- 1:51:55Speaker 14: Oh my god?
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: Professional professional Niners.
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: Niners, Yeah, Paul's Niners, nine ers.
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: Not to mention, I don't know the candle to Olivia Colblo.
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go Niners, but I'm saying that the
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: Ravens cover. Yeah, all right, so there you go, there
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: you go. All right. Now we move back to eight
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: point fifteen on Christmas Eve. This game is on NFL network,
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: so apparently because they gave NBC to Saturday, so they
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: were willing to give up the Sunday night football game.
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: So on NFL network, but locally here in New England,
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: what a network is it on?
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: I don't know, Probably be BZ right, Oh.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Not necessarily, Oh it is it's CBS.
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: Does a very confused what are you doing?
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: What is it? Yeah?
- 1:52:46Speaker 5: Okay, BC, I think all right, so I'm very convincing.
- 1:52:52Speaker 16: BZ.
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: I think it's definitely probably maybe.
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: Yeah. So in the New England market, the Boston market,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: you can watch it on BZ. We have to watch
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: an NFL network.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: Okay, Broncos six and a half, and I just I
- 1:53:06Speaker 5: think this is a tough travel It's tough to play
- 1:53:08Speaker 5: there for the Patriots generally, they got a bunch of
- 1:53:10Speaker 5: new injuries.
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: I think Denver is gonna roll in this game pretty easily.
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: I got Denver both ways twenty seven to ten.
- 1:53:17Speaker 8: Yeah, Deuce, I have Denver. I think it's a bad
- 1:53:19Speaker 8: matchup for the Patriots. Aggressive blitz defense, a couple of
- 1:53:23Speaker 8: good receivers, decent quarterback on the other side, against a
- 1:53:26Speaker 8: banged up defense for the Patriots. I like the Broncos.
- 1:53:30Speaker 8: I don't think it's gonna be that high scoring though.
- 1:53:32Speaker 8: Maybe weather maybe cold. You know, I'll say Denver seventeen
- 1:53:37Speaker 8: to six. Oh yeah, have fun with that on Christmas Eve,
- 1:53:43Speaker 8: you have fun with it.
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: I get.
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: Fun having like delayed why because it would make for
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: a good Radio.
- 1:53:57Speaker 8: After I got hurt, complain Monday trouble.
- 1:54:02Speaker 7: Broncos to win, Patriots covered really showing a little faith
- 1:54:11Speaker 7: in the home team on the table company goals.
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: Good for you Alex seventeen. Wow, all right boy?
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish I had the faith that Alex does.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: Like I said in the roundup that do sent out.
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: The Patriots had trouble winning in Denver when Tom Brady
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: was the quarterback. Twenty four to ten Denver. That's where
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: I'm living to they win by two touchdowns.
- 1:54:36Speaker 8: Should we pick Celtics Lakers too?
- 1:54:38Speaker 15: Oh?
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: On Christmas Day?
- 1:54:40Speaker 8: Christmas Day, five o'clock Celtics.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: What's the point spread?
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: Household divide?
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: How can we pick it? I get straight up, straight
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: up Celtics go Team Green. All right, So that's it.
- 1:54:54Speaker 8: That's by four and a half.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: This is our last show, Patriots Unfiltered Show before Christmas.
