- 2:37waiting for. The home that would become known
- 2:42as Summer Wind was originally built in northern Wisconsin and
- 2:461916 by then US Secretary of Commerce, Robert Le Monde
- 2:52originally called the Lamont Mansion after it was finished,
- 2:55the sat upon 80 acres of property, alongside the large
- 3:00home, which contained three large chimneys, guest quarters
- 3:04and a large basement sad. Another smaller building, which
- 3:08is where the servants. Lived.
- 3:10And from the beginning, things just didn't seem quite right.
- 3:15The Mansion was fairly isolated. Especially given the time
- 3:18period, the road conditions were poor at best and the area on,
- 3:23which it was in receives heavy snowfall throughout various
- 3:27times of the year, which led to most of the winters being waited
- 3:31Out Among the estate during the first Long Winter at the
- 3:34property, the servants were soon being tormented by what they As
- 3:39a translucent woman for seeing her staring at them from the
- 3:44main window of their quarters from the courtyard to her then
- 3:48beginning to materialize within the home itself.
- 3:52Mr. Lamont initially dismissed, these claims as nothing more
- 3:56than paranoia thinking. His servants were either
- 3:59delusional, her getting stir-crazy giving the weather
- 4:03and this was until one cold evening.
- 4:06When he was made a True Believer while he and his wife.
- 4:09Wife were enjoying their dinner together on the first floor.
- 4:13They were interrupted by the basement door, shaking
- 4:16violently. Terrified knowing that there was
- 4:20no one who could be down there. Mr. Lamont pistol, in hand went
- 4:25to investigate the shaking door. Abruptly stopped as Lamont came
- 4:30with him. Several feet of it fighting
- 4:33through nerves in anxiety, mr. Lamont through the door.
- 4:37Open expecting there to be someone there.
- 4:40Instead, he was met with a bone-chilling silence.
- 4:45He was even more unnerved. After sweeping the Basement and
- 4:49further confirming that there was indeed, no one there
- 4:53afterwards. He began to make his way back
- 4:55towards the door to head back upstairs when suddenly the
- 5:00ghostly form of a man appeared. It stepped right in front of the
- 5:04exit, scared out of his mind Mont, then fired Two Shots from
- 5:09his pistol, and The Apparition then disappeared.
- 5:13When others were sent to investigate to confirm that
- 5:16there indeed was no one there. All they found were fresh bullet
- 5:20holes. And after this incident, the
- 5:23Lamont Family abandoned, the property never to return events
- 5:28at vacant and rotting for decades.
- 5:33The Mansion was still owned by the Lamont Family until mr.
- 5:37Le Mans death. In 1948, when it was then sold
- 5:42it exchanged hands. Several times until it came into
- 5:45the possession of mr. And mrs.
- 5:47Kefir. The key for family believed that
- 5:50they had found their forever home and we're more than excited
- 5:54to move in but this Honeymoon Feeling was all too short lived,
- 5:59the kefir soon began to experience strange things with
- 6:02in the house. Unexplained sounds like banging
- 6:07traveled all throughout the home, a random times of the day
- 6:11and night glimpses of shadows out of the corner of their eyes
- 6:16and the feeling is if they were being Watched at all times.
- 6:21These experiences soon led the family to their breaking point
- 6:25they too would abandon the Mansion leaving behind all of
- 6:29their belongings food, clothes and Furniture.
- 6:33Mrs. Kefir would later state that she believed.
- 6:36As she took anything with her from that house.
- 6:39That something horrible would happen to them.
- 6:42And although was still owned by the key for family.
- 6:45The estate yet against a trotting away for years to come.
- 6:49And not only that, but Edward of just Wyatt.
- 6:52Had been abandoned, had reached a local community as well
- 6:56leading to it being called the old haunted house.
- 7:00The kefir family, despite their unfortunate experiences, would
- 7:04end up being the lucky ones in 1969, Ginger Henshaw was
- 7:12visiting a friend and was told that she had to visit the old
- 7:16haunted house with her. Intrigued she agreed and soon
- 7:20found herself approaching in a car catching.
- 7:23Her first fleeting glimpses of Summer, Wind Through
- 7:26fingerprints, speckled window glass.
- 7:29She would later say that upon seeing the home, she felt sorry
- 7:33for it. She felt that it was calling out
- 7:35to her soul crying out to her soul for her to save him.
- 7:41She almost immediately became obsessed with the idea of
- 7:44living. There, her husband Arnold.
- 7:47Owned a construction company and shortly after her initial trip.
- 7:51With her friend would also take a trip there with his wife to
- 7:54see just what all her excitement was about knowing what it would
- 7:58take Arnold immediately, saw the potential and agreed that it may
- 8:03just be the perfect investment for the family since they were
- 8:06used to moving due to the nature of Arnold's business.
- 8:10The couple's also figured they could use the space for their
- 8:12six children as well as themselves.
- 8:16They then were able to reach out to the Kiefer's and make them an
- 8:19offer that they couldn't refuse for this massive Fixer-Upper.
- 8:23First impression, certainly go a long way for most people and not
- 8:27everyone will get the same impression either.
- 8:30Contrary to her parents impressions of Summerwind
- 8:34nine-year-old, April gotten a much different feeling
- 8:37altogether, one of unease and fear.
- 8:41She described summer went as a huge dingy and decrepit place
- 8:47and that she She was immediately, over came with a
- 8:49feeling of dread, like she didn't belong there, children.
- 8:53Can often be scared by new experiences, but given what was
- 8:57about to unfold? I don't think that was the case
- 9:00for young April within weeks, the family moves in ginger
- 9:05immediately becomes obsessed with restoring, the old home so
- 9:09much, so it was like she was being compelled by an unseen
- 9:13Force. Some of this work included
- 9:16trying to Different paint colors to match the woodwork.
- 9:21It was if she had been given an assignment to restore this Relic
- 9:25back to its original glory and as ginger fixated on renovating
- 9:30her, husband Arnold began to lose interest in the house and
- 9:34grew ever more distant from his family.
- 9:37He began to wander aimlessly in a state of confusion, starting
- 9:42things and stopping them. Just as quickly, he seemed to
- 9:46hyper-focus on On the old organ that had come with the home and
- 9:50began to play it at all hours of the night along with this.
- 9:55He began to be tormented by something that he couldn't see,
- 9:59and he believed that if he stopped playing something
- 10:02horrible would happen to him. Meanwhile, Ginger continued, her
- 10:07work. As the days continue to tick by
- 10:11slowly but surely the family began to experience very strange
- 10:14activity within the home. This began with small items
- 10:18often being misplaced when there was no one around to move them
- 10:22but this soon escalated to chairs being moved one moment,
- 10:26they'd be up against the dining table and the next moment up
- 10:30against the wall, And no matter what room you were in there,
- 10:34what you were doing, you always felt as if you were being
- 10:37watched along with this omnipresent Watcher, the family
- 10:41began to be awakened by disembody crying at all times.
- 10:45During the night, the crime was described as something, trying
- 10:49to mimic the crying of a baby, but it just wasn't quite human.
- 10:54And there were no children that age residing within the home at
- 10:58the time. Footsteps.
- 11:00Also followed them wherever they win and didn't stop when they
- 11:04reached them. They would often Cascade onto
- 11:07the walls. They would also hear the walking
- 11:09above their heads, as if someone or something simply defy gravity
- 11:16walks around and above them. Now, several weeks into what was
- 11:20supposed to be there forever home, the Henshaw family was now
- 11:24experiencing activity not of this world.
- 11:28Arnold had also grown more distant, more reclusive who was
- 11:32no longer acting like this sweet man that he had.
- 11:34Once been his personality had completely shifted.
- 11:39He was no longer himself. He had gone from a loving father
- 11:44to an insanely angry shell of his former self.
- 11:48His daughter April, would later describe him like this.
- 11:51Any little thing would seem to set him off and you would have
- 11:54to bear the brunt of his rage. These possession So does only
- 11:58grew in intensity and he became more and more evil.
- 12:04An example of this is that one day, the family's pet raccoon
- 12:08escaped sending Arnold into a frenzy.
- 12:11He attempted to force the children into the nearby Woods
- 12:14to look for it amidst, the altercation, thankfully their
- 12:18mother intervened and kept him from sending them there.
- 12:22As a punishment to the children Arnold found and then killed the
- 12:27raccoon front of them. Despite the radical changes that
- 12:31were taking place within her family and daily life.
- 12:35Ginger attempted to regain a sense of normalcy attempting, to
- 12:39put the strange activity out of her mind.
- 12:42She hosted a dinner party with some friends, who hadn't seen
- 12:46her the family, since they had moved into Summer Wind, things
- 12:50seemed to be going. Well, and that was until she
- 12:53made a quick trip to the kitchen to get some snacks, for her
- 12:56guests who were sitting in the Parlor.
- 12:59As she loaded a plate with food, the muted warmth of company was
- 13:04shattered by his screen. Ginger, rushed to the room to
- 13:07find her guests screaming in Terror as they witness the
- 13:11ghostly form of a man with a misshapen face appear directly
- 13:15in front of them. Within seconds, they rushed out
- 13:19of Summer Wind and would never speak to Ginger ever again.
- 13:24Although what she had suspected all along Ginger's worst fears
- 13:28were now confirmed. She was dealing with something
- 13:31not of this realm and even though she knows she's not
- 13:35insane. It's of little, consolation
- 13:38Arnold has continued to spiral deeper into madness is playing
- 13:43on the old. Organ has now become more
- 13:45frequent than ever and has grown more dissident and demonic and
- 13:51tonality. Within two months, Arnold has
- 13:54gone, completely berserk and is lost all grip.
- 13:57Of reality he's lost his construction business because he
- 14:02simply stopped working and all of the family's assets are
- 14:05depleted. Having purchased and renovated,
- 14:09the home. And now he's on the verge of
- 14:12losing his family, his daughters.
- 14:15Now ages 8 and 10 believe that the house is what is destroying
- 14:19their family? They have both contemplated.
- 14:22Suicide horrific absolute for anyone but it's particularly
- 14:27disturbing because of their young ages.
- 14:31Ginger. Now often seeks refuge in the
- 14:33nearby Woods choosing to sleep on the forest floor rather than
- 14:38in her own home because she's grown so terrified of what
- 14:42inhabits the property. But this time winter is quickly
- 14:47approaching due to the lack of income, the gas and electricity
- 14:51to the home of now, been shut off and the family's daily life
- 14:55has devolved into basic survival needs.
- 14:59A broken water-pump. Now, forces them to also have to
- 15:03haul water from the nearby lake along with continuing to deal
- 15:07with Arnold's insanity and the Paranormal Activity, they're
- 15:11struggling just to stay warm. They've now moved all of their
- 15:15mattresses into the living room around the fireplace and have
- 15:19resorted to burning the furniture.
- 15:22No matter how expensive just to Live While stripping part of the
- 15:27woodwork in her room to use as Firewood April was met with a
- 15:31horrific Discovery upon pulling a board back.
- 15:35She was greeted face-to-face with a human skeleton.
- 15:40Its gnarled teeth, and empty eye sockets, staring back at her
- 15:44with small, strands of hair, still attached to the scalp.
- 15:49Isolated and traumatized the henshaw's continue to barely
- 15:54exist. As the icy winds howl outside of
- 15:58the mansion and although it's taken nearly everything going
- 16:02wrong, Ginger, finally reaches, her Breaking Point pride is kept
- 16:07her from calling her father, but pride is slowly giving way to
- 16:12her fear fear for herself and her children's lives.
- 16:18So she finally does the right thing walking through the Frozen
- 16:21Woods. She makes her way to the closest
- 16:23neighbors house, makes the call. All and like a knight in shining
- 16:28armor the following morning. Ginger.
- 16:30And the girls are rescued Arnold stays behind, the would leave
- 16:36summer when the following day to be committed to a mental
- 16:39hospital. Whatever.
- 16:41Hope him. And ginger once had for their
- 16:43relationship has long since been shattered.
- 16:47He was never seen or heard from by the family.
- 16:50Again, the home would be foreclosed on Andre sold to a
- 16:54new owner, but just when they thought the war was over a new
- 16:59chapter was just beginning. In later interviews, Ginger,
- 17:05would state that she wasn't into haunted houses or the spiritual
- 17:09world, but after what she experienced It Summer Wind, she
- 17:13felt that she had to discover and learn about it to make sense
- 17:17of what had happened to upon being rescued by her father.
- 17:21Ray Ginger, told him everything every last detail of what had
- 17:26taken place. However, her father didn't
- 17:30believe her, he didn't doubt that there had been dysfunction
- 17:34and breakdown within her marriage, but he did doubt that
- 17:38the Paranormal had anything to do with it.
- 17:41The years now, 1972, and ginger. And the girls are now living
- 17:45with gingers, father and Ontario, Canada.
- 17:49Ginger has become an advocate student of the Paranormal
- 17:52reading every last book that she can get her hands on to try and
- 17:55decipher just what happened at summer went, since her time
- 17:59there, she has vowed to never return under any circumstances.
- 18:05But to the contrary her father cannot seem to get the place out
- 18:09of his mind. Without her knowledge, he
- 18:12arranges a meeting and a showing of The Mansion with the new
- 18:16owner, a woman named mrs. Marie since purchasing the home,
- 18:22she's been unable to sell it and refuses to go one side due to a
- 18:26personal experience. She never spoke about upon the
- 18:30arrangement rain. His son.
- 18:32Ray jr. Go inside.
- 18:34Ray jr. Has just been discharged from
- 18:37the Army after several tours in Vietnam during the war.
- 18:40Or and need something to help keep him busy and help him.
- 18:43Adjust back to civilian life upon seeing Summerwind like his
- 18:48father. He is also immediately drawn to
- 18:52it, describing it as the most fascinating home he's ever seen.
- 18:56Like a mix of all different styles of architecture and that
- 18:59the home looked like it needed someone to care for like a puppy
- 19:03in the rain. Both men make their way inside
- 19:07and it isn't long until they feel like the home was watching
- 19:10them, but despite a mysterious chill in the air Ray decides to
- 19:15make the purchase the like his daughter before him.
- 19:19He too will soon discover that he's purchased more than what he
- 19:22could have ever bargained for. Ray jr.
- 19:26Quickly gets to work renovating the old home, he calls multiple
- 19:30contractors to try and get assistance with the work, but as
- 19:34soon as they would find out where the work was to be done,
- 19:37they would stopped returning his calls.
- 19:39So Ray continued alone. One day, shortly after his work,
- 19:45had began, Ray was frightened by something.
- 19:48He was so frightened that he refused to return to the mansion
- 19:53and claimed that he broke all of his tools.
- 19:55Tools but not yet telling his father about what had happened.
- 20:00Racing your continue to be excited about his plans for
- 20:03Summer Wind as he was explaining his layout plan with his
- 20:06daughter and son. Ray jr.
- 20:09Seemed particularly nervous and kept biting his nails.
- 20:13Having also now studied hypnotism Ginger offered to help
- 20:17her brother with his nail Body by placing him in a trance.
- 20:22However, things soon as escalated, the lights began to
- 20:26Flicker and the same mysterious icy wind began to chill the
- 20:30entire room. Ray no longer sounded like
- 20:35himself. The voice of an old Gruff man.
- 20:38Now answered Ginger and old Gruff voice.
- 20:41That said, I'm strong that my children are weak.
- 20:47You were weak and I am strong. I am very old and have seven
- 20:52children, and I despise them all for.
- 20:55They are weak and I strong fearing that she had Unleashed
- 21:00something she couldn't control. Did you began to panic once the
- 21:04traditional methods weren't breaking raised trance?
- 21:07She commanded the spirit to leave his body.
- 21:10Give her back her brother. With those words, things return
- 21:15to normal. Ray soon.
- 21:17Woke up. And besides a slight headache,
- 21:19had no memory of what had just occurred much to everyone's
- 21:23shock. Ray, senior was quick to dismiss
- 21:26the event as overactive imaginations.
- 21:30However, Ray jr. Had no.
- 21:32Children, and none of the statements.
- 21:34He had made made any sense. The man's son, then proceeded to
- 21:38explain to him. What took place to him at Summer
- 21:41Wind, and why he refused to go back.
- 21:45He was alone in one of the hallways sweeping, and he began
- 21:49to hear voices calling out to them.
- 21:52He began to walk towards them where he believed where they
- 21:54were coming from. Then, he heard two distinct
- 21:57gunshots and smelled burning gunpowder, having just come back
- 22:02from a tour War in Vietnam, there was no mistaking, that
- 22:05smell for the young veteran. He quickly ran into the kitchen
- 22:09where he continued to smell the scent.
- 22:11He then checked the perimeter it had rained the night before, but
- 22:15there were no tracks besides his, which would have been
- 22:19impossible as he continued to check.
- 22:22He saw the basement door where he had spotted, two bullet
- 22:25holes. And although they looked
- 22:27extremely old, he continued to smell gunpowder and was rattled.
- 22:32Score upon turning around to face the room.
- 22:36Again, he was met by The Apparition of an old man with a
- 22:40disfigured face. The spear was racing towards him
- 22:45with hell in his eyes, Ray did the sensible thing and ran to
- 22:50the safety of his vehicle and left for good.
- 22:54Knowing his son was a staunch atheist and non-believer prior
- 22:58to this event, Ray senior was astonished.
- 23:02All of the information and details.
- 23:04Both his daughter and son had now shared with him along with
- 23:07his Newfound obsession with the home Ray now believe that there
- 23:11was some kind of force attempting to communicate with
- 23:14them. But about what exactly, he
- 23:17wasn't sure upon her father's request.
- 23:20And although it took much longer than anticipated, Ginger placed
- 23:24him in the same trance that she had placed her brother during
- 23:28his hypnosis racing. Your finds himself at summer
- 23:31when It's Halls. He then began to descend into
- 23:35the basement where he discovered a box hidden behind some old
- 23:39stones. And one of the walls, upon
- 23:43opening the box. He sees the land Grand written
- 23:46in 1767 signed by someone named, Jonathan Carver as the trances,
- 23:53broken, as he re-enters conscious reality race senior,
- 23:57along with his family, are shocked that seemingly out of
- 24:01nowhere, it I've conjured a name connected to Summer meant a name
- 24:05that could help them solve The elusive.
- 24:07Mr. He's hiding within its walls, the family quickly gets
- 24:12to work heading to the local library, Ray senior finds that
- 24:17Jonathan. Carver was an Explorer in the
- 24:19late 1700s. He's crowning achievement was
- 24:23negotiating a peace settlement between two warring native
- 24:26tribes as a reward for this. He was gifted a large swath of
- 24:31land. Same land in which some Irwin.
- 24:34Now, sits but upon his death, his children were unable to find
- 24:39any documents to verify this and thus they were unable to
- 24:43inherited. Could a land-grant truly be
- 24:46sitting in a box hidden deep within the basement of the
- 24:48Mansion. Although both Ginger and her
- 24:51brother had vowed to never step Foot In Summer Wind.
- 24:53Again given these new Revelations, they both believe
- 24:58that perhaps the spirits were attempting to tell them where
- 25:00the scram was. Perhaps they wanted in found for
- 25:04one reason or another, so they could be at peace for this
- 25:08reason. They agreed to go back.
- 25:11Although all were fearful, they made their way back into the old
- 25:15mansion, and from here, they headed to the basement to
- 25:19search. They quickly Came Upon the spot.
- 25:22Rey senior had seen during his trance, and after pulling
- 25:25several stones out, there was a space behind them just as Ray
- 25:29and seen, But shock and happiness.
- 25:32Soon turned to an abyss of disappointment.
- 25:36There was no box there and after confirming that there was no box
- 25:40anywhere in the basement. They decided to do a deep search
- 25:44of the entire house, but a box was never recovered realizing
- 25:50just how much of an impact the entire Summer Wind experience.
- 25:53It had upon them and how much time they had spent searching
- 25:56for answers to its elusive enigmas, they collectively
- 26:01decided to preserve what was left of their sanity.
- 26:05Seemingly tormenting, every single person who had ever lived
- 26:08there, perhaps it's Secrets could never be solved.
