- 1:45- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 1:48- Rocha.
- 1:49- Here's today's
- 1:51- prayer focus,
- 1:52- how to stop comparing yourself to others and
- 1:54- focus on God's plan.
- 1:56- Scriptural text comes from Galatians six, four and
- 1:59- reads, each one should test their own actions.
- 2:02- Then they can take pride in themselves alone
- 2:06- without comparing themselves to someone else.
- 2:10- Someone else's promotion can make us question our
- 2:13- progress.
- 2:15- Someone else's marriage can make us examine ours.
- 2:19- Someone else's ministry,
- 2:21- home appearance, opportunity, or success
- 2:24- can suddenly make what God has given us
- 2:26- feel inadequate.
- 2:29- Comparison
- 2:30- rarely announces itself.
- 2:32- It simply changes the way we see our
- 2:34- own lives.
- 2:35- We often compare what we know about our
- 2:38- lives with what we can see of someone
- 2:40- else's.
- 2:41- And when our attention stays on what God
- 2:43- is doing for someone else,
- 2:45- we can miss what he's doing right in
- 2:47- front of us.
- 2:50- Prayer redirects our attention.
- 2:52- Instead of asking,
- 2:54- why don't I have what they have?
- 2:57- We begin asking,
- 2:58- father,
- 2:59- what have you entrusted
- 3:01- to me?
- 3:03- Prayer turns comparison
- 3:05- into gratitude
- 3:06- and helps us seek God's direction for our
- 3:08- own lives.
- 3:10- That being said, let's pray together.
- 3:14- Father God, forgive me for the times I've
- 3:17- measured my life against someone else's journey.
- 3:19- Help me celebrate what you're doing for others
- 3:22- without questioning your goodness toward me.
- 3:25- Open my eyes to the blessings, assignments, and
- 3:27- opportunities you've placed in my hands.
- 3:31- Give me confidence to follow the path you've
- 3:33- prepared for me and gratitude for the life
- 3:35- you've been trusted to me. And I will
- 3:37- bless you in Jesus' name.
- 3:40- Take your eyes off of someone else's lane
- 3:42- today and ask God,
- 3:45- what are you asking me to be faithful
- 3:47- with?
- 3:49- If this prayer brought something to mind, share
- 3:52- it with someone who could use the same
- 3:54- reminder today.
- 3:56- And remember, there's always room at the throne.
