- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31And it is noisy. She's already in there screaming
- 0:34about laying an egg. You got to love it when you the
- 0:37noisy one goes first. So today we're talking about the
- 0:41fact that it half the year is over.
- 0:43I mean, half the year is over. And I didn't do this podcast on
- 0:48July 1st basically just because I, you know, it was a holiday
- 0:53week. And I figured, you know what,
- 0:55I'm just going to wait until the holiday's over and then really
- 0:57say, hey, half the year is over because now really it is half
- 1:01the year is over. So think about this.
- 1:05You've spent six months of this year and you have to take that
- 1:09time to evaluate now, at least in my opinion you do, because if
- 1:13there's anything that you want to shift, now is the time.
- 1:16So I know for myself without question at this point in time,
- 1:20I need to shift some things going forward.
- 1:23Huge number of lessons from the garden that I have to write down
- 1:27just based on everything that I've learned.
- 1:29Huge number of lessons for my time that I have to be aware of
- 1:33and I have to start taking into consideration.
- 1:36And I have to make some shifts in my time because of the other
- 1:41projects that I want to get done.
- 1:44Huge number of distinctions that I can tell you without question
- 1:50physically that I want to make sure that I start incorporating.
- 1:54I have done something to my arm where I've got a muscle.
- 1:58That's according to my chiropractor.
- 2:01Once they start doing this in your forearm, it's very hard to
- 2:04get rid of it. So he's given me some really
- 2:07cool things that I have to pay attention to, little band that I
- 2:10have to wear, that I absolutely detest.
- 2:12But you know what? We'll do it.
- 2:14And I have to shift that. But that means there's other
- 2:18things going on. So sometimes because I walk so
- 2:21much, I don't work out like lifting weights.
- 2:24Yes, I lift things around the farm.
- 2:26Yes, I'm always doing farm work, but I don't actually take time
- 2:29to always sit there and say, OK, let me do this type of workout.
- 2:35So I will go in, I'll ride my bike, I will walk 30,000 stops,
- 2:39I'll do whatever like that. But while I might be lean, I'm
- 2:45don't want to lose muscle mass. So that's another thing that I
- 2:47have to put on that list. So I'm just kind of stacking up
- 2:51these things that I know I need to pay attention to in the
- 2:53second-half of the year. And one that's a really big one
- 2:58for me that the first half of the year tends to consume my
- 3:02mind is always the outdoor stuff, the flowers, the gardens,
- 3:06all those things that have to be done.
- 3:08And I started thinking to myself, you know, this is insane
- 3:10because it takes away from other creative aspects.
- 3:14So hence the the fact that, you know, consider doing something
- 3:19different, doing some writing, doing just doing some different
- 3:22things. And one of the one of the big
- 3:24pieces of this is keeping creativity high and keeping
- 3:27creativity in a space where I know I'm doing it, not just in
- 3:32the way everyday little bits of it, but doing something
- 3:34expansive. And that's important to my
- 3:37growth. So I have every intention of
- 3:39putting that back together. Now the real, the real question
- 3:43you can ask yourself is am I where I want to be right now?
- 3:47And so many people will tell me I'm not where I want to be this
- 3:50time of the year. Like I would think I would be
- 3:53further along. I would think I would be this.
- 3:56Well, we tend to as human beings have a ability, huge ability to
- 4:01over anticipate what we can get done in a short period of time
- 4:05and under anticipate what we can get done in a long period of
- 4:09time. So if you are feeling that way,
- 4:11most of the time, it's been my experience that people will
- 4:14think they can get a lot done in a short period of time and it
- 4:18doesn't work that way. And then they get frustrated and
- 4:21then by the end of the year they're all caught up.
- 4:23So one, give yourself a break because that is definitely
- 4:25something that is likely to be happening.
- 4:29And two, really look at what it is that you want to have done
- 4:33and say to yourself, OK, if that's the case, this is really
- 4:36what I want to have done and I'm really pushing myself to go in
- 4:39that direction. I'm going to do everything I can
- 4:42now moving forward to make sure that this next to six months
- 4:48incorporates those things on a consistent basis, not just a
- 4:52short term basis, but a consistent basis.
- 4:55So just take a look and say, OK, well I've got, you know, this
- 4:59major project or that major project or whatever it might be,
- 5:02or just meet with the workout and reverse engineer it, plan it
- 5:06out. OK.
- 5:06If I look towards the end of the year, what do I need to do each
- 5:09day moving forward? And give yourself a plan that
- 5:12you could potentially stick to for the next six months.
- 5:16And when I say potentially, it's because we all know things
- 5:19happen, things change, and we have to pay attention to those
- 5:22shifts. Don't get mad at yourself for
- 5:24it, just be aware of it and start the plan and then put it
- 5:28into play. Once you get past the 1st 30
- 5:31days of that plan, it becomes a lot easier to stick to it.
- 5:34First 30 days are a little tough, as you know, you've heard
- 5:37me say it a million times. It's just part of being a human.
- 5:42But we have to stick to it and know the plan and leave yourself
- 5:45the clues that you want to stick to the plan.
- 5:48So if you have to write sticky notes and put them on things, if
- 5:50you have to make hard decisions, if you have to write yourself a
- 5:54letter and read that letter every single day, then do it.
- 5:57But whatever it takes, let's figure it out so that the
- 5:59second-half is just as you know, productive as you want it to be.
- 6:04All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 6:06will see you tomorrow. Bye.
