  there to help them along? The Founding Fathers of the

  United States put language into the United States Constitution

  regarding silver and gold. Now, we have a growing number of
• 0:48
  states in the United States that are forwarding legal tender
• 0:53
  legislation. But behind each piece of that
• 0:56
  legislation is an elected official, a driving force who's
• 1:00
  looking out for the benefit of his or her constituencies.

  In Missouri, we have Senator Bill Idol, and today we're
• 1:09
  fortunate to have him here in the basement.

  He's going to tell us about this legal tender legislation.

  Bill, welcome to Ron's Basement. Hey Ron, thanks for having me.

  And and hello to all the basement dwellers out there.

  That's right. You know, I was going to, that
• 1:22
  was my next line, Bill, that it's me and you.

  But there's this third person with us who's most important,
• 1:29
  right? The citizen, the voter?
• 1:31
  And why is legal tender legislation so important for the
• 1:35
  people that are joining us today?
• 1:37
  Yeah, great. Great question and it's a great
• 1:39
  place to start. So I I I I think a lot, maybe a
• 1:43
  lot of your audience has watched the decline in the American Fiat
• 1:46
  dollar with a lot of skepticism and a lot of hesitation.
• 1:50
  There are moves now by governments, not just American
• 1:53
  state level governments or federal governments but
• 1:56
  international governments to push us towards a digital
• 1:59
  currency which is effectively a a mechanism of control that
• 2:03
  governments will use to to you know make take over control of
• 2:08
  private assets. So the best thing that I think
• 2:11
  that we can do to push back on that and protect our citizens is
• 2:14
  to make sure there's an alternative that can be used as
• 2:16
  legal tender that can can you can hold in your hand.
• 2:20
  No matter what they do with all these digital currencies or what
• 2:22
  damage they do to the Fiat, Usus Dollar currency, there's always
• 2:26
  going to be something physical and and for me and for the
• 2:29
  founders that wrote this into the US Constitution that's gold
• 2:31
  and silver. So my legislation which was
• 2:34
  Senate Bill 100 last year, it's now Senate Bill 735 would make,
• 2:39
  would make golden tender legal or would make gold and silver
• 2:44
  legal tender in the state of Missouri.
• 2:45
  So it's a great place to start. Very few states have done this.
• 2:48
  I think only a couple states have actually passed something
• 2:51
  like this. So Missouri is really on the
• 2:53
  leading edge here. OK.
• 2:55
  And you you touched on this, but and obviously you operate within
• 2:59
  the political sphere on a national basis.

  Do you feel like we have a chance of ever getting out of
• 3:06
  this $33.6 trillion debt that we've built up?
• 3:11
  Is that is that part of the concern behind this that there
• 3:14
  seems to be on a national basis kind of reckless spending that's
• 3:19
  going on ever growing debts and deficits.
• 3:22
  Is that is that part of the the motivation behind this as well?
• 3:25
  Yeah. Yes, I think that when you you
• 3:27
  use the term reckless spending, I think that's putting it
• 3:30
  nicely, right. That's putting it mildly.
• 3:32
  It's it's out of control, devastating spending.
• 3:36
  That's just wasteful spending and it's not just happening in
• 3:38
  Washington DC Remember anything that's appropriated in
• 3:41
  Washington DC is also getting appropriated down at the state
• 3:44
  level. And you know, one of my big
• 3:46
  frustrations in Missouri government is that we have a lot
• 3:50
  of so-called fiscal conservatives in city that are
• 3:53
  saying they're for smaller, more limited government in campaign
• 3:56
  season and then they just spend like drunken sailors once the
• 3:59
  session starts and once they're in office.
• 4:01
  So, you know, the results of that so far has been to see
• 4:07
  increases in inflation like we've not seen since the 1970s.
• 4:11
  So folks are feeling the effects of this every single day.
• 4:14
  And as the dollar continues to weaken in terms of its purchase
• 4:18
  power, we want to make sure that there's always is going to be a
• 4:22
  physical alternative for folks to be able to store wealth in.
• 4:26
  And again that's where that's where gold and silver comes in.
• 4:29
  And I'm not confident, Ron, I'm not confident that any of the
• 4:32
  politicians, no matter who they are in Washington DC are ever
• 4:36
  going to come to the realization that all this spending truly
• 4:39
  needs to come to an end. So this is a great way that I
• 4:42
  think that we can protect the citizens of Missouri in the
• 4:45
  short term from just the the out of control, out of control
• 4:49
  fiscal policies of our government.

  Yeah, I would. I would agree with you on that
• 4:53
  Bill. It feels like we are you know,
• 4:55
  and I'm 53 years old. It it just feels like in the
• 4:58
  last 20 years the spending has gotten gotten out of control and
• 5:03
  and nobody seems to care. Very few people seem to care.

  I sense that you care that I care and I imagine our viewer
• 5:10
  here because they are gold and silver enthusiasts that they
• 5:14
  care as well. So this legislation kind of
• 5:18
  facilitates for Missouri residents, but again it's going
• 5:20
  on in a number of other states as well.

  But it facilitates the ability to help protect these citizens
• 5:27
  and protect their right to use gold and silver as legal tender.

  Are there any other details that you can share with us in terms

  of what it what it might provide for the citizens?

  It also eliminates income tax, capital gains taxes on the

  transfer and sale of gold and silver.

  So you know when you exchange your currency from 1 currency to

  another. So if you transfer dollars into

  euros or or back and forth, you know you don't pay income taxes

  on that. Now, gold and silver is also a
• 6:24
  form of currency under this bill, so it'll exempt sales of
• 6:28
  precious metals, the gold and silver from being subject to the
• 6:31
  income tax. So you can transfer your assets
• 6:34
  into precious metals and back out again as you see fit without
• 6:38
  having to pay the government a charge for that.
• 6:40
  So there's a little bit of a tax cut in there.
• 6:42
  It also, and by the way, even though it allows for gold and
• 6:47
  silver to be legal tender in the state, it doesn't force anyone
• 6:50
  to to to accept gold and silver. It doesn't force anyone to have
• 6:54
  to use gold and silver. It does require that the state
• 6:57
  government is going to have to accept gold and silver for the
• 7:00
  receipt of its tax obligations. So, but I've never been hesitant
• 7:04
  about putting restrictions on government.
• 7:06
  But as far as the people of this state, it's an option, it's a
• 7:08
  tool that they can use in order to make sure that their assets
• 7:13
  are set up way that they want them to and it provides a
• 7:16
  possible hedge against all this government interference and the
• 7:19
  government spending that we see going on.

  Yeah, interesting. And you know I'm, I'm, I have a
• 7:23
  degree in accounting, so I understand how taxes and capital
• 7:27
  gains work. And the example I would use is
• 7:31
  it would be like if my wife handed me $100 worth of quarters
• 7:36
  and I went to the bank and said I want to exchange this for $100
• 7:39
  bill, that they would say, well, we have to charge you a tax for
• 7:42
  doing that, right, that we wouldn't stand for that.
• 7:44
  But silver and gold are well as it says in the constitution, you
• 7:49
  know, real money. And the fact that we convert it
• 7:52
  from Fiat paper back and forth, there really should not be a tax
• 7:58
  associated with that. So it's good to hear that you're
• 8:01
  providing for that. It feels like there's
• 8:03
  grassroots, grassroots support. I think you and I have a common
• 8:07
  friend, Pat Holland with the Missouri Freedom Initiative who
• 8:12
  works tirelessly on this and other legislation.
• 8:15
  How can people help support the legislation from your
• 8:19
  perspective and how can they, how can they help support you as
• 8:22
  well? So first let's talk about the
• 8:25
  legislation. So last year we passed a similar
• 8:27
  bills, one of the first bills that actually passed out of the
• 8:30
  Missouri Senate last year that went over to the House and
• 8:34
  basically died over in the House of Representatives.
• 8:36
  The Speaker of the House, Dean Plocker was opposed to this
• 8:40
  legislation, refused to support this legislation.
• 8:43
  And then when he had an opportunity, even at the end of
• 8:45
  session after sitting on it the entire session, he finally had
• 8:48
  an opportunity to move it forward and he chose not to.
• 8:50
  So you know, here this is a guy, Dean Plocker, he wants to become
• 8:54
  your Lieutenant governor in the state of Missouri.
• 8:56
  So I think that folks should be pretty bold about letting him
• 8:59
  know that if he wants to be in tune with actual Republican
• 9:03
  voters and folks that are interested in protecting their
• 9:05
  rights, you know, this is a pretty easy thing that he can do
• 9:09
  that has overwhelming support in both chambers and get this done.
• 9:13
  So I would encourage folks to call Dean Plocker's office
• 9:16
  that's where the breakdown was last year and ensure that he
• 9:19
  knows that if he continues to defy the will of the grassroots
• 9:23
  and the people of this state that there's going to be
• 9:25
  political consequences for that. So I think that's that the
• 9:27
  number one thing. As far as supporting me, Ron, as
• 9:31
  you said, people have been supporting me tremendously not
• 9:34
  just for this legislation but in my overall efforts to become the
• 9:37
  next governor of the state of Missouri.

  You know, for folks that are interested in that, I would

  You know we're we're doing a lot of good or trying to do a lot of

  good things with with the swamp that we have in Jefferson City

  not just past protections on gold and for gold and silver to

  become legal tender. We're working on getting rid of

  personal property tax in this state.

  We're working on protecting our Missouri farmland from being
• 10:04
  bought out by foreign entities. So but as I mentioned there's a

  big swamp there. So this this requires A

  tremendous amount of grassroots engagement which I've been very
• 10:14
  fortunate to get the support of thus far.

  So the session, which is starting here in a few weeks, is
• 10:20
  a good time for folks to start reaching out to their
• 10:22
  legislators and talking to them about issues like gold and
• 10:25
  silver. Or if you're interested in the

  the primary issue of who's going to be the next governor, which

  supporting initiatives, the three that you mentioned, legal

  tender, foreign ownership of land and and reduction or

  elimination of certain personal property that you are working

  on. Initiatives that are for the

  people and and that and correct me if I'm wrong, 'cause I always
• 10:58
  say this is not a political show, but my my sense is that
• 11:02
  for those types of initiatives to really gain the traction that
• 11:06
  they really need, that grassroots support is
• 11:10
  imperative. Is that a, is that an accurate
• 11:12
  statement? First Mining Gold is a
• 11:14
  development company advancing two of the largest gold projects
• 11:18
  in Canada, Spring Pool in Ontario and Du Parquet located
• 11:23
  in Quebec. Each already has 5 million
• 11:26
  ounces of gold reserves, but exploration initiatives are
• 11:30
  underway at both projects to find even more gold.

  First, Mining is well financed, has zero debt and owns an
• 11:39
  interest in four additional Canadian Gold Development

  projects. 100%. In fact, the so just two of

  those items, the gold and silver bill and the elimination of the
• 11:50
  personal property tax. What makes those two bills

  unique from the hundreds of other bills that are that just

  got filed this week in Jefferson City is that there isn't a

  single registered lobbyist that is fighting for those two bills,
• 12:03
  not one. So the hallways of power in
• 12:06
  Jefferson City don't really have a whole lot of interest in these
• 12:09
  two particular bills. They don't really care if gold
• 12:11
  and silver becomes legal tender and they don't care if we get
• 12:14
  rid of personal property tax or not.
• 12:16
  On the other hand, when you talk to everyday people all over this
• 12:19
  state, those are two of the items that I hear about the most
• 12:22
  getting rid of personal property tax and and making gold and
• 12:25
  silver legal tender. So because we have, we're going
• 12:28
  to have to beat the entire swamp here.
• 12:30
  We've got to have a ton of grassroots engagement.
• 12:34
  And believe me, it makes a difference when you have a
• 12:37
  senator that may not be passionate about an issue like
• 12:39
  gold and silver, but suddenly he gets 50 or he or she gets 50
• 12:42
  phone calls from his district saying, hey, this is the
• 12:45
  priority for us. We'd like you to support this
• 12:47
  bill that can have a huge impact.
• 12:49
  And if we do that, then I feel like we're going to be able to
• 12:54
  beat the swamp, not just in an electoral sense, for the
• 12:57
  gubernatorial primary next next August, but in the upcoming
• 13:01
  legislative session. So don't underestimate the
• 13:04
  influence of folks reaching out by phone in person to their
• 13:08
  legislators and encouraging them to do the right thing.

  Yeah, I heard a statistic the other day.
• 13:14
  I was talking with a gentleman named Daniel Diaz.
• 13:17
  He's with the Citizens for Sound Money.
• 13:18
  They're doing legal tender legislation work across the
• 13:21
  country. And he pointed out a statistic
• 13:23
  that, you know, a phone call is the equivalent of like 50 votes
• 13:28
  a letter. A handwritten letter is the
• 13:31
  equivalent of 200 votes. And if you can go see your
• 13:34
  representative or state senator in person that that's worth like
• 13:38
  1000 votes. So yeah, I mean if people need
• 13:41
  to realize that that that that that they can make a difference.
• 13:45
  And you know, and I think it's important what you pointed out
• 13:48
  as well that these initiatives that are for the people are not
• 13:55
  going to be supported by the big lobbyists.
• 13:57
  The big lobbyists are generally going to be supported by larger,
• 14:02
  big, big business type interest and that if we want what's for
• 14:07
  the people, we need to have the support of the people.

  I think it's safe for me to say, Bill, that you absolutely have
• 14:12
  my support. And I can't speak for the third
• 14:15
  person, that voter who's with us right now, but I'm real
• 14:19
  confident when I say that you have their support as well.

  A lot of them are in Missouri and a lot of them are all
• 14:26
  throughout the country. And I know you're running for
• 14:27
  governor for Missouri, but hey, you never know.
• 14:30
  Maybe someday we'll have Bill Eagle for president.

  So it's. I think I just got another Gray
• 14:37
  hair when you said that you got, you got enough on here.

  I certainly appreciate that. And you know we're seeing a

  level of engagement right now from the Republican electorate
• 14:48
  that we've not seen before. And the reason that we have so
• 14:51
  many people getting involved, whether it's an issue like gold
• 14:53
  and silver, whether it's an issue like personal property
• 14:55
  taxes, You know, government's never been as big as it is right
• 14:57
  now. And it's never been as
• 14:59
  destructive as it is right now. Not just in the in the dollars

  that it's spending down in Washington, DC and in Jefferson
• 15:06
  City, but look at what happened in the COVID environment yet.

  I don't think that you can point to a more tyrannical moment that
• 15:12
  we've had in America than the COVID environment in a in a
• 15:15
  long, long time. So the folks are coming out and
• 15:19
  many times they've never before been engaged in the political
• 15:22
  discussion. But they recognize that things
• 15:24
  are deteriorating in this country and in this state and
• 15:27
  they're frustrated. They're angry.

  businesses. I was running a small business

  at the time, and I didn't know where to go or who to talk to.

  So I started reaching out to groups and I found the first
• 16:29
  thing I found is that I wasn't alone.

  You know, and and if you're alone and frustrated with
• 16:33
  politicians in Jefferson City, I get that.
• 16:36
  But you're not alone. There's people all over this
• 16:38
  state that are as angry as you are and are starting to change
• 16:41
  the results, the expected results in our Republican
• 16:44
  primaries from what the Swamp Wants down in Jefferson City.
• 16:47
  So don't let go, don't give up. And you're not alone.

  We've we we're building coalitions that are going to
• 16:54
  take not just the state back, but this country back and folks
• 16:57
  are getting on board. Well, thank you very much, Bill,

  like to me and I'm the one saying this, the plundering of

  the country with this out of control spending.

  And people want to, you know, want, want, want change and they

  also want a way to protect themselves, which for us here in

  Missouri, this legal tender legislation could provide.
