The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is pouring over $7 million into restoring Snow’s Cut — a historic waterway between Carolina and Kure Beach that’s eroded from 90 feet to 400-600 feet wide, swallowing nearly an acre of shoreline yearly. Once a safe park, it shut down in 2021 due to dangerous cliffs and falling trees. Now, Cape Romain Contractors will stabilize 7,500 feet using rocks, grading, vegetation, and wave barriers — starting soon — to halt erosion and reduce dredging needs.
