- 0:00This is Mallaha Rahman Nohim Salam alaykum Mallahu Rakata.
- 0:03Brother, sister, welcome back to the Aftermarket podcast.
- 0:06It's amazing to be back again. If you were here last week,
- 0:08you'll know that we have a brand new set, which is still a work
- 0:11in progress. This Charlotte.
- 0:12We're getting there with your daughters, with your
- 0:14suggestions. But bear with us as we put the
- 0:16final pieces together before the holy month of Shaharam Aban.
- 0:19Brother, sisters, today we are talking about this blessed month
- 0:22of Shaaban, one of the most sacred, one of the most holy
- 0:25months, a month filled with barakat and honor, as we know
- 0:29from the religion of Islam. But of course, it's a month of
- 0:32also preparation, where we are watering the seed of
- 0:34spirituality ahead of the holy month to come.
- 0:37So today Charlotte, we're going to be talking about some of the
- 0:39blessings and gems that we find in the month of Shaban, with a
- 0:42specific focus on the munajat of Shahabaniya, which of course, as
- 0:46we know is munajat. Or do I talk to us by Mira
- 0:50Mutmani and I live in a bit, Ali belay Salaam and we have a very,
- 0:53very special guest. Before we introduce our guest,
- 0:56it gives me great honour to be once again joined by my beloved
- 0:59brother, Said Ali. Rather, it's not what Aleppa
- 1:01said. Alaikum Salaam.
- 1:12How you doing bro? Al Hamdallah can't complain.
- 1:15How are you? I'm good, Al Hamdallah.
- 1:16I'm still adjusting to the new set.
- 1:19Yeah, yeah. And.
- 1:20It's. Change isn't.
- 1:22It's a bit cold, I can't lie. We still have we still have
- 1:24greenery behind us. Which of his dreams are still
- 1:27true? And inshallah, all his dreams
- 1:29become true. Inshallah.
- 1:30We all want him a noble wife. How are you?
- 1:34I'll have the love, OK, for I'll have the love.
- 1:36These are the months of da so we can special da Yeah, said we've
- 1:40got a good friend on. This is a brother who we have
- 1:43wanted on a podcast for a long time.
- 1:46Someone I've grown up with, someone I look to as not just a
- 1:49friend or a brother, but a teacher as well.
- 1:51We call him the salt of Stanmore, the voice of Stanmore.
- 1:56And that is because he's got one of the most distinctive and
- 1:59beautiful recitation voices he does on.
- 2:02He does Adea, he does Amal in the Knights of Qatar and around
- 2:05the year. And of course he's an amazing
- 2:08Casita and Nahara Saita. And that is my dear, beloved
- 2:11brother Muhammad. How's it going man?
- 2:15That was a too good intro. So say it how?
- 2:20Are you? There will be moments today
- 2:22where our 30 was MD out of habit, out of.
- 2:26That's fine. How you doing bro?
- 2:28How's things Good and reaching the climax of the year, which of
- 2:35course is Shahraman coming up. But this is such a beautiful
- 2:38month that sometimes we forget how beautiful it is.
- 2:41Absolutely, absolutely. How has the last few weeks
- 2:44especially been for you of we know in Hadith, we know in, in
- 2:47in our traditions that the months of Rajab Shahramadhan are
- 2:51special and they're also kind of chronological in the build up to
- 2:55the end of Shahramadhan ending with, of course, aid.
- 2:58How, how have have they been for you specifically, and how are
- 3:02you kind of preparing for the Holy Month?
- 3:04Yeah, I think you know Rajab we know is a month where it's the
- 3:08far is recommended great morning and night and of course even
- 3:12sort of class is recommended things like this, which are a
- 3:15nice way to start prepping you for the greatest month to come.
- 3:20And even in the Doha that we recite of Rajab, how the Imam
- 3:24used to hold his beard and say harem sheba Tiharan now, you
- 3:28know, make make Haram this beard upon the fire of hell.
- 3:33And that's a nice way of us reminding ourselves that we're
- 3:36entering into Shahramadhan very soon.
- 3:38Just like when you go for Hajj, Say just gave me an idea when
- 3:41when you said Hajj just before, you know, you prepare
- 3:44beforehand, yes, you can't get there on your own and be like,
- 3:47OK, what was the doorway to the site?
- 3:49You know, what did I have to think of?
- 3:50What was my Hajjad, etcetera, etcetera.
- 3:53That needs to happen now and if we do that from now, then we can
- 3:57really enjoy Shahramadhan because many of times I felt it
- 4:00all the time. Maybe you have as well that we
- 4:03get into Shahramadhan and the first two weeks is still so slow
- 4:06paced. We're still finding our feet and
- 4:08before you know it, Leila, Qatar are there and the next thing you
- 4:12know, we were saying that we're done and that's it, it's gone
- 4:14and goes too fast. No, we were never present.
- 4:16We were never there in the holy month.
- 4:18So the only way we can be present is if we start from now.
- 4:21Do you know something? So I go and say.
- 4:23I was going to say I love the point you brought about Hajj
- 4:25because it reminded me when I went home a few months ago, I
- 4:29was preparing as well. So I have to go over so much
- 4:31things and make sure I'm ready. I get everything right.
- 4:33And it's a spiritual moment for all of us, right?
- 4:36And we should feel the same. And I know you want to say
- 4:38something. Well, if I can ask and Hajj, who
- 4:42I think I'm going to learn so much from today.
- 4:43I don't need any talking by the way, because Ahmed has said so
- 4:46much things about you, like this is Masha'allah.
- 4:49I think back in the College in many ways for those sitting
- 4:52behind the scenes. But I do want to say we are a
- 4:54Shaban Hamdallah. Ramadan is only a few weeks away
- 4:58and what spiritual stage should we be in right now?
- 5:03What is the right spiritual stage to be?
- 5:06Well, I think sometimes we ourselves get baffled at that
- 5:11and the only guidance we have at Hamdullah, and praise be to
- 5:15Allah who has guided us to this, is the words of the Adelaide.
- 5:20Because how else would we know what to be asking for, what
- 5:23state to be in, you know, and then you look at, you know, the
- 5:27slot of Shaban or Munajat Shabani and you see the way, I
- 5:30mean, what we need is talking to Allah and you're like, wow,
- 5:34that's the state that I should be in getting ready for this
- 5:37holy month, you know, and everyone connects differently.
- 5:41So for me, it's still far in the holy month of Shahramadhan is a
- 5:44very big thing for me. That's that's what I concentrate
- 5:46on every year. So for me to start prepping that
- 5:49from now is very important. So thinking about what's
- 5:53happened in the year that's just gone from last Ramadan,
- 5:55Shahramadhan, what, where did I slip up?
- 5:59Right, Let's write those down. Let's get ready in terms of
- 6:01actually taking notes down and doing some sort of Mahasava,
- 6:05some sort of accounting so that when the month comes, then I'm
- 6:08actually ready to say, oh, look, I've actually come prepared.
- 6:12My hands are filled with the sins that I have and now I'm
- 6:15ready to turn back to. You Beautiful.
- 6:17You know, when we look specifically at Munaja Chabania,
- 6:22I think for a lot of people it's, I mean, if we've had the
- 6:26blessing, like I know we hundred that have had to grow up in a
- 6:29community which encourages these supplications, these da, we know
- 6:33about Munaja Chabaniya because it's a da which is not as
- 6:38communally recited as we would like.
- 6:40I think a lot of people may not have grasped the true benefit of
- 6:44the da. And we know of course, in the
- 6:46beginning of the da, it's beautiful because the Imam Malay
- 6:49Salam, like you said, it was taught to us by Miramat Manin.
- 6:52And our hadith says that all of the Imams, Ahim Salaam recited
- 6:56the dohar. And even we have some traditions
- 6:58which stay there. Imam Masada Alayhi Salaam would
- 7:00recite the dohar as if he's drowning in sin, which I just
- 7:04find, you know, with the Imam Alayhi Salaam with all of his
- 7:08purity and perfection is still approaching the dohar in this
- 7:11way. But we call it a dohar, but it's
- 7:13of course, it's called a manajat.
- 7:15And you know, in the beginning of the Manajat, the Imam Ali
- 7:18Salaam refers to three types of interaction with Alas Palatala.
- 7:22He talks about the DA, the supplication, he talks about
- 7:26Nadar, which is a call, like when you're calling towards Alas
- 7:28Palatala from afar. And then of course, the najwa,
- 7:32the najwa. And we know in, in, in the last
- 7:35Pantala, when he refers to the najwa, it's kind of like a
- 7:38whispered conversation, a communication that you'd have
- 7:40with someone in private, not in a gathering.
- 7:43And we understand that the Najwa is something which is not
- 7:46recommended to have in front of other people, correct.
- 7:48And especially because, and if you think of it logically as
- 7:50well, like when you're speaking to someone in in close
- 7:55confidence and you've got people around listening, it's not
- 7:58recommended in Islam because we we wouldn't want them to assume
- 8:01you're bickering about them or, you know, makes sense.
- 8:03So in the same way the menaja am I correct in thinking that it
- 8:06should be recited. The etiquette of the Menaja
- 8:09should be recited in an atmosphere which is somewhat
- 8:11private and intimate with our last poems either. 100% I mean,
- 8:15there are times in our community even will recite da together.
- 8:18Yeah, which is so beautiful because we do it together.
- 8:21And of course Allah is very merciful.
- 8:23So if there's even one of a few good souls there, he will take
- 8:28everyone's daughter there. But there's times when you want
- 8:31to just sit and whisper to Allah.
- 8:33And that's also beautiful. You know, the famous Sir of
- 8:36Musa, when he says to Allah, Karibun and Tamini, you know,
- 8:41are you close to me that I should whisper to you and buried
- 8:44on Fonadiq or you father, I should call out to you.
- 8:47And Allah says, yeah, Musa and Angeli Sumantha Karini, I am
- 8:52jalis. Meaning what?
- 8:53Sitting, sitting right now. The English language is
- 8:56terrible. This is our problem.
- 8:58Jalis means a very intimate feeling such that the person
- 9:02sitting so close to you, it's as if you and them are one.
- 9:05So I'm last saying, that's how intimately closely I'm sitting
- 9:08to you when you Remember Me. So if someone is sitting that
- 9:11close to you, you want to whisper to them.
- 9:14You want to have that intimate feeling with them and at times,
- 9:18yes, even just like Salah, there's JAMA Salah and there's
- 9:21times when you recite on your own and that has its own beauty.
- 9:24And one ajat is just like that. So why?
- 9:27So why is it that this specific Dor is considered a monajat?
- 9:31What about it in terms of it's like language or its tone?
- 9:36Is is is meant to be recited in such an environment compared to,
- 9:40for example, Dor Kumain, Dor, any of the other mainstream
- 9:44popular Dor that we have? I think it also comes from Amir
- 9:48Mouni himself. So the fact that he was most
- 9:52likely seen in this state, right, even just on a sidetrack,
- 9:56because I mean, when of course he we infatuated with him and we
- 10:00can't help talking about him. But when one of his companions
- 10:04was meet Mahawi and Mahawi asked tell me about Ali Abu Nabi
- 10:08Talib. And first he hesitates and then
- 10:12he says, no, tell me about him. And this companion starts and he
- 10:16says lakhadra E to hokka in one female rabi.
- 10:19You know, I saw him standing in his prenish kaabil Don
- 10:22Allahiyati, you know, holding on to his beard.
- 10:25Yet a malu Tamil malu Salim. He's he's shaking as if like a
- 10:28snake's bit in him, wyev Ki boka al haseen.
- 10:31And he's crying such a sorrowful cry where all and then this
- 10:35whole conversation starts that he's having.
- 10:38And that's the way that munajat should be done.
- 10:41And even when you look at Munajat Shabanya, you feel the
- 10:45restlessness of Emil Mutmanin that he starts off with.
- 10:49You know what's Madora either don't have to, you know, normal,
- 10:52normal das. You'll see.
- 10:54And even someone I just, you'll see.
- 10:56They'll start with the etiquette.
- 10:57You start with praise of Allah, right?
- 10:59Allah my ini F teti hastena abuhamdek allahman Robin nooril
- 11:03aveen Allah my. All of these have these praise
- 11:08that you start with, but here you feel the restlessness of
- 11:12Imam, that he just wants Allah attention.
- 11:15He immediately starts and there's no other dog.
- 11:17And people can correct me if I'm wrong, other than maybe ABI
- 11:21Hamza, which is another gold mine that we have, which starts
- 11:26straight away. Yeah, here straight what's my do
- 11:31I either I don't talk what's my neither I either now they took
- 11:35just listen to me. If I'm calling out to you, I'm
- 11:37doing the art to you except my manajat to you.
- 11:41You can feel that he's restless. He just wants a last Mahanu
- 11:44Taala and and that's beautiful about seeing how it's done and
- 11:49even the wedding. Then after when he says
- 11:51Fahadharab to Ileika, I've come fleeing to you.
- 11:54We'll walk off to Bainadek. And now, Bainadek, when you read
- 11:59in English, you'll say I'm standing at your door or, or, or
- 12:02I'm standing beside you, in front of you, but literally it
- 12:05means in your hands. Yeah, between your hands.
- 12:08Between your hands and a child, when he's fearful he will run to
- 12:13his parent and his find solace and he finds peace in his in his
- 12:17mother's arms. Yeah, that's beautiful.
- 12:19And the same way you see that, I mean, when he's talking like
- 12:22this, as if he just wants to run into the hands of Allah.
- 12:25And that's something which you whisper to God, you don't call
- 12:27out. And that's the beauty.
- 12:29That's beautiful. Amazing, amazing.
- 12:31So I'm just thinking now you know, I I've read Hamden, I've
- 12:34been blessed and I inshallah views at home listeners around
- 12:37the world do read the story on Shabbat.
- 12:39It's really amazing because when I come across and I read the
- 12:42lines and I feel, for example, OK, God is beside me, that's
- 12:47one. But you feel a sense of not just
- 12:49his beside you, but you feel there's a essence or a presence
- 12:52of you and Allah talking and it's just you alone.
- 12:55And the beautiful thing from Najah Shabani for me, I think I
- 12:58would say as a reflection on this, by the way, is that the
- 13:02way Imam Ali has the conversation, Allah as as they
- 13:05were jealous that it reminds us that no matter where we are in
- 13:08life, you can tell just by the lines that whether you have
- 13:12flaws, you can still talk to ourselves.
- 13:15Whether you have sinned, you can still speak to Allah and it just
- 13:18emphasizes God's mercy is there for you and just knock his door.
- 13:22Read this when I jot and don't miss out.
- 13:24You know, what can I add to that as well?
- 13:26You know, in terms of like you both mentioned this, this notion
- 13:29of like vulnerability and urgency and neediness and the
- 13:33Imam flocking towards our last panel to Allah.
- 13:36You know, when you think about neediness, like in a modern
- 13:40sense, neediness in the like the world we live in, yeah, it's
- 13:44seen as like an insufficiency or a form of poverty of some sort.
- 13:48But Subhan Allah, what we're taught by the Imam in Munaja Cha
- 13:51Baniya is that neediness is a form of belief.
- 13:54It's a form of, of showing and displaying, showcasing your
- 13:57belief in the last Palo to Allah, that you are entirely
- 14:01reliant on Allah. You're not self-sufficient
- 14:04whatsoever. And you know, even in the at the
- 14:06beginning, there's a part that really stuck out to me towards
- 14:09the beginning. What Talla morphine Murphy nasi,
- 14:12what Haji were for the medi Like you know when you're saying to
- 14:16last Montala, you know what is within my inner self and you're
- 14:19aware of all of my needs and you know what is inside my
- 14:23conscience. And like you said, Muhammad to
- 14:25the beginning of the the munajat to open up to alas Ponota Allah
- 14:30with such urgency takes courage. And it's something which I think
- 14:34we need to get used to doing. When you speak to God, get used
- 14:38to speaking to God to in in such a degree where you don't feel
- 14:43like you're hiding something or veiling something.
- 14:45You know, when we speak to each other in in day-to-day life, we
- 14:48kind of have a veil in front of us.
- 14:51You can't see within the other person's soul what their
- 14:54struggles are, what what their joys are.
- 14:57But when you speak to a last palatal and you're telling him,
- 14:59you know what's within me, you know what's in my conscience,
- 15:02You know what the good I have done and the bad I have done is
- 15:05to such a degree where we should become our authentic selves.
- 15:08There's nothing to hide from a last palatal.
- 15:10And these are the the days and the nights where we need, in my
- 15:13opinion, I think we need to develop that confidence of just
- 15:17being raw with with God and being our true selves.
- 15:20And so it's an intimidating thought when you reflect on
- 15:23everything bad that you've done in your life.
- 15:26And to approach God with that neediness and that helplessness
- 15:30is something which I think takes a lot of courage to get to.
- 15:33But this is a good place to stop.
- 15:36I think admitting is the first stage, right?
- 15:38So it's very easy to just say, oh, I forgive my sins.
- 15:41But to admit, yes, you know, I did this and I did this, that's
- 15:44when it hurts, because now you realize what a wretched soul you
- 15:48are. And that's why it's actually in
- 15:52a slum. In Fik wise, it's a sin to open
- 15:55up your sins to someone else, right?
- 15:57But the only person you do that with is the one who already
- 16:00knows, right? He already knows what you've
- 16:02done. You know, it's like the mother
- 16:04who saw the child do something wrong or break a plate or
- 16:07whatever, and then she's waiting for him to come back.
- 16:10She knows, but she wants to see his sincerity.
- 16:13And this is the best way to show sincerity to God.
- 16:15Yeah, Yeah. You know what we talk about the
- 16:17method in which we do the DAR especially is there would you
- 16:23say like a difference in the way we should do.
- 16:25I know of course this specific DAR is meant to be recited in
- 16:28this atmosphere, but in terms of like kind of our own growth, the
- 16:35growth of the believer is, is there an advantage or a
- 16:38disadvantage in doing the art on an individual level or a
- 16:42collective level? And for example, if I wanted to
- 16:44do, because we have friends who who do Munaj Shahbaniya,
- 16:48reflections and gatherings, I think we've got into some of
- 16:51these ourselves together. But, you know, is there an
- 16:55advantage of reciting it as a group or congregation and what's
- 16:58kind of the right way to do it? I think many of times we're not
- 17:03used to this. Yeah.
- 17:04So because we're not used to it, we don't know where to start.
- 17:07Yeah. And even, for example, Daabi
- 17:08Hamza, I mean, it takes an hour if not more, right?
- 17:12And our souls are not ready to sit for an hour and concentrate
- 17:16and talk to our last panel. Unfortunately, we can't do that.
- 17:19Imam could do this. And no, I won't be surprised if
- 17:22Imam was in such, then recited the whole thing.
- 17:24Right. Yeah, it's very possible.
- 17:25Well. We can't do that.
- 17:27And that's why we're that's where the reflections come in.
- 17:29That's where brothers come in and sisters to help you or to
- 17:34help them in understanding at least feeling something,
- 17:38reciting it together in a small group, that's fine, but the
- 17:41important part is to then put effort and to go home and then
- 17:44to take that on. So sit for 5 minutes.
- 17:47Don't recite the whole thing. Recite the first few lines.
- 17:49Just the first few lines will bring tears to your eyes, you
- 17:52know? Because sometimes we feel that
- 17:53pressure to finish it or where you, especially for me, I'll be
- 17:58very honest, yeah. It's like ticking it off.
- 18:01Also bro it's like okay for example tonight I want to recite
- 18:05when I judge shot 1 here. These are the nights I've never
- 18:07done it before. Shot 1 is here.
- 18:09What do I do? And you see on YouTube, you see
- 18:11it's 27 minutes. OK, cool, cool.
- 18:13All right. It's so like, do you know what I
- 18:15mean in your mind that, you know, towards minute 1718, your
- 18:18mind starts drifting and you start getting distracted.
- 18:21Maybe that's not a way we should approach it.
- 18:23Maybe there's a way to approach it like you're saying, even if
- 18:26it's just the beginning and you reflect on it or maybe even for
- 18:29example, taking a portion of it and splitting it over the month.
- 18:32So it's just that by the end of the month you are in complete
- 18:34submission to a lot like you, you have given it absolute
- 18:38thought. And look bro, this is son of the
- 18:41every single Imam has recited this Monajat.
- 18:44So we know like there's clear cut proof that each Imam has
- 18:47recited this Monajat. So this is Sunna, if anything
- 18:50for us to do, and not just to do, but to do it with, with
- 18:53heart and soul. So I think that's a really nice
- 18:56point, yeah. Yeah, I think also reflecting on
- 19:00the words will give you a deeper understanding.
- 19:03Yeah. So even when we look at the fact
- 19:05that Imam Idi Salaam through the whole manager other than the
- 19:11Salawat, he refers to Allah as Ilahi, right?
- 19:14And that's so beautiful. When you look at the other
- 19:16Monajat that we especially as Hoja we recite on 21st night and
- 19:2019th night is we call it Mona Imam Ali as if Imam Ali only
- 19:24recite one Monaja ever, right? And that is the.
- 19:26Guy has actually got a different name.
- 19:29Well, I don't know, but as in he's recited so many, can't we
- 19:32just? But has he got an official name?
- 19:34Do we know? I'm not sure.
- 19:35I only know what he's. Called a right, And we know mola
- 19:42is a much more authoritative term.
- 19:44Yeah. And even when you look at the
- 19:46whole munajat, you see that it's that slave and master
- 19:49relationship until Molawu and Alhad, until until Rahmanu and
- 19:54Al Mahlu, it's all you are this and I'm nothing basically.
- 19:59And here it's very different because Ilahi, when you look
- 20:02closely, we see it just the I was just looking right now.
- 20:04It says My Lord as the translation, but it's not Ilahi.
- 20:09It gives when you look deeper into the wedding etymology is
- 20:12something I'm very passionate about when it comes to Quranic
- 20:14Arabic. And you see that ilahi comes up
- 20:18with many different meanings when you look closely at the
- 20:20verbs that are derived from it. And one of them is fazar ilahi.
- 20:25To run towards someone when you're in fear, who do you run
- 20:29towards? Right?
- 20:30And that makes sense because what did we just say?
- 20:32What does he say? Ali Salaam wakad harab to Ileika
- 20:36will walk off to vein aidek. So I fled and what I'm coming
- 20:41into whose hands? Into Allah's hands, exactly what
- 20:43ilahi is fazar ilahi. When you run towards that old
- 20:46person who you love so that you can see comfort again.
- 20:49Another thing is a hubba who a hubba who should that'll help
- 20:53when you love someone so immensely that even that pain
- 20:58that you had goes away because you love them so much.
- 21:01So whatever you do, you will still do it for them even if it
- 21:05causes you pain because you love them so much.
- 21:07And we see that with ABBA Abdullah on Yamala Ashura that
- 21:11whatever he did was did was causing pain, but it was for the
- 21:15love of Allah. And that's what made it so easy
- 21:17for him. So even like for example, when
- 21:20when Phiraan says Malakum mean Ilahin Haidi, that something
- 21:25along those lines that you know, I have not known another Lord
- 21:28for you people other than me. When he said that he didn't mean
- 21:32that, you know, people should do throw off of his castle and
- 21:35frustrate to him, but he wanted them to love him so much that
- 21:39they'll do anything for him, right?
- 21:41And that's what sort of grip he wanted on his people.
- 21:44And that's what sort of love that we have for Allah, Muhammad
- 21:47Allah. When you look at the different
- 21:49words for love, one of them in Arabic literature, one of the
- 21:53the most highest ones is wallah. And that comes from Allah to
- 21:58mean this, that you're so crazily in love that no pain, no
- 22:03hunger, no thirst is going to stop that love.
- 22:06Instead, it's going to increase that love for that person.
- 22:09And that's why you see ilahi, ilahi, ilahi nonstop.
- 22:13It's a very loving and merciful munajat.
- 22:17You just feel the love flowing and the mercy flowing and Imam
- 22:20asking for love and asking for mercy from a lost.
- 22:22Family. Yeah, there's, there's a lot of
- 22:24like when I'm just getting through the translation, there's
- 22:26so many parts here where the Imam talks to Allah in a
- 22:30different tone, or at least I find like compared to a lot of
- 22:33the other dollars that we read. And it's it's a tone of someone
- 22:39who is interacting with someone who he admits is a provider and
- 22:44a sustainer, a lover and a creator, but at the same time is
- 22:48talking to someone who he knows has he has absolute trust in.
- 22:52Like, for example, the Imam and Islam says, my Lord, please look
- 22:56upon me in the same way you've looked at the one who you have
- 22:59called and he's responded to you and whom you used him in your
- 23:02service with your aid. And so he obeys you, O the near
- 23:06one who is not far away from those who love him ardently.
- 23:10O he who is too magnanimous to deprive one who hopes for his
- 23:13reward. Then he says Ilahi and he says,
- 23:17my Lord, please grant me your heart whose longing for you will
- 23:20draw one close to you. I want to ask specifically, I
- 23:23know this is slightly off topic, about Lika Allah and the meeting
- 23:26of Allah and that sort of proximity to Allah's panel to
- 23:30Allah and developing that nearness to God, especially as
- 23:33we approach Shahar al Muqan. Is that something which we could
- 23:37say that Imam Ali Salaam aspires for us to gain from the munajat?
- 23:43Like is one of the core goals of this?
- 23:45Should we enter this and finish the DAR with thinking that I
- 23:49have gained proximity and nearness to alas Pono to Allah?
- 23:52Is it more of an admission, like you said, of one's, you know,
- 23:55errors and one's depravities, or like what's the kind of
- 23:59objective or goal, if that's like a right way to put it?
- 24:03Of the Imam. Yeah, of of what?
- 24:05Yeah. What did he intend for us to,
- 24:07to, to gain when we entered this?
- 24:09Like, was there like a state of mind we should be in?
- 24:11I don't mean in terms of like the intimacy of the DA.
- 24:14I mean in terms of like, for example, you know, that they're
- 24:17DA which are recommended for Shafa, there's DA which is
- 24:21recommended for Tawasul and so on and so forth.
- 24:24Is our goal with this munajat that proximity and closeness to
- 24:28God? Is it for example, the steffar?
- 24:31Like is there something which we are trying to gain specifically?
- 24:35If that makes sense. Yeah, I think, I think the
- 24:37beauty is that you, you may find in the star that you're
- 24:42according to Allah's mercy, more is rahma, whereby I say it might
- 24:46find forgiveness, you know, and I might find something
- 24:49completely different. And that's the beauty that the
- 24:52Imam's words and more importantly the Holy Quran, that
- 24:56everyone who picks up that book, blessed book will take something
- 24:59different from it. But the true understanding and
- 25:03the true way to gain the maximum is that you'll realize even with
- 25:06the double and the Holy Quran, the more you do test care, the
- 25:09more you purify your soul, the more you start to gain from it.
- 25:12And one of our teachers, I remember telling us that do to
- 25:15double on this verse and spend some time doing test care.
- 25:20So go back for a few weeks, you know, it's the far.
- 25:22Whatever is fasting, whatever is, come back and read that
- 25:25verse and you'll see it in a very different light because
- 25:28your soul is open. Your heart is opening up now
- 25:30much more. And that's what you know, for
- 25:33the last 11 months or so, these hearts have become rock hard.
- 25:37And now with this Munajat, with Sahifa Sajadiya, the hamster,
- 25:41Ashar Munajat, again, we're trying to break that mold.
- 25:45We're trying to break that, that blackness which is stuck on the
- 25:48heart, and make it such that it's open and ready and fertile
- 25:54for the seeds of Shahramadhan to then be so.
- 25:57Yeah, I love that. You know, as you were saying
- 25:59this by the, you know, the point where you said read it now come
- 26:02back a few weeks later, read it. It's a has like a completely
- 26:06different meaning. And I think the keyword here is,
- 26:08is like can I say it's like spiritual maturity that one can
- 26:12achieve from these munajat, for example.
- 26:14Why I say that is a long time ago.
- 26:16If I can go back to my personal teenage years, for example, it's
- 26:21I'll call it the days of a Jahila.
- 26:22We commit sins, OK. And we always thought, you know,
- 26:26God's never going to forgive us or for example, you know, we're
- 26:29doomed. Hell fires.
- 26:31You know, this is just beyond the horizon.
- 26:33And this is the way we used to think, right?
- 26:35And we were scared by, you know, God's going to punish you.
- 26:38God's going to do this to you. God's going to.
- 26:41But then when you come across these, you come across these
- 26:43monarchs, the complete opposite. Allah Subhanahu Attallah is
- 26:47Arhamara I mean, and you understand it from like Shabani,
- 26:54you agree a spiritual maturity, something that we can learn and
- 26:59achieve and put into practice during Shaban.
- 27:04Prepare us for Amaban and with your point like read it now a
- 27:07few weeks later, but now we can read it this year or read it
- 27:10next year and we see how we change and understand.
- 27:13The thing is, is like, sorry to talk to you.
- 27:14No, no, you can. You can read this as well at any
- 27:17level of spiritual. Maturity as well.
- 27:19Yeah, yeah. So for those who are new Muslims
- 27:22or who are beginning their practice of Islam and this is
- 27:25their first introduction to a relationship with the last one
- 27:28or to Allah like this is a perfect art, perfect manajat.
- 27:34And at the same time, for those like the Imams, like we said
- 27:37earlier, for the imams of him as Salaam to recite this themselves
- 27:40shows that at any stage of your spiritual journey, you can find
- 27:44hub Allah and you can find that love of a last one or two
- 27:47highlight and you can connect with God.
- 27:48I want to ask specifically about love of God and that theme of
- 27:53love because look, I'm going to be real.
- 27:57A lot of people see a relationship with God to be very
- 27:59transactional, very ritualized one, which is I do XYZ and God
- 28:05gives me XYZ in return. And this is of course, we hear
- 28:08from the Hanitha Middleton about avoiding the transactional
- 28:11relationship, which I'm not going to go into, which we know
- 28:13of course. And then of course, you have
- 28:16another camp which is very focused on mysticism and
- 28:19developing a spiritual relationship with Allah, but
- 28:22maybe denies focus on on ritual practice.
- 28:25And you can argue whether it's good or bad or what not, but
- 28:29actually aiming and aspiring towards developing love of
- 28:34Allah's panel to Isla comes with knowing oneself.
- 28:38And we say and like knowing oneself and their sins and and
- 28:44their flaws and errors will allow you to develop that love
- 28:48of Allah. But for those who right now feel
- 28:51a lack of love of God in their lives, what would you say to
- 28:54them? Because I find that, you know,
- 28:56when things are positive, you feel Allah loves you.
- 28:58And when things are negative, you feel a lot punishing you or
- 29:02he's neglecting you. But for those in in their lives
- 29:05right now who are struggling to see that love and they don't see
- 29:08the light at the end of the tunnel, they're going through
- 29:11all sorts of mental health issues, spiritual struggles,
- 29:13families, whatever it might be. Why do they need that love of
- 29:17Alas Pantala so much? You know, have you heard of
- 29:21Leila and Majnoon? Yeah, Yeah.
- 29:23So in case anyone doesn't know, Leila was an ordinary girl in
- 29:28the city. And Majnoon is genuine.
- 29:31He's crazy about this Layla, right?
- 29:34He's a handsome guy. He's going after this ordinary
- 29:36girl, but he's crazy about her. And everyone's saying what's
- 29:40wrong with you, right? And everywhere she goes, he
- 29:43follows. And she hates his guts because
- 29:47she can't stand him. One day, there's an announcement
- 29:50that Layla has made soup for the whole city.
- 29:53So bring your own bowls. And and.
- 29:57Yeah, and and come and get some. So everyone brings theirs and
- 30:01Majnoon comes smiling, 32 teeth grinning with his ball as well.
- 30:06Everyone gets a spoon. Everyone gets a spoon.
- 30:08And finally it comes to Majnoon's 10.
- 30:11Now Majnoon stands in front of her, and as she looks up, she
- 30:14sees the face of Majnoon. And Leila sees Majnoon and she
- 30:19hates him. So she takes his ball and she
- 30:21smashes on the ground. And everyone's like, and he
- 30:26turns around with a smile on his face and he starts to walk away.
- 30:31And they're looking at him and he's smiling.
- 30:33And they say, truly, you're crazy.
- 30:36You love her and she hates your guts.
- 30:38And she just smashed this your bowl.
- 30:41You're not going to get any soup.
- 30:42And you think like, why are you smiling?
- 30:44What's wrong with you? And he goes, you guys don't
- 30:46understand. She loves me more.
- 30:49She treated you all equally. She treated me in a different
- 30:53way, the same thing when it comes to these sort of Bella,
- 30:57right? Allah says well and everyone we
- 31:00will most certainly, surely we will test you and then Allah
- 31:04says how? But why does he say that home
- 31:11life does man think just because he says we believe that we're
- 31:14not going to test them, Of course we're going to test them.
- 31:17Malakot fatten the ladinam in Kabulim, which is those from
- 31:20before. Why Falayalam and Allahu Ladina,
- 31:22Sadako, Walayalam and Academy just sift those who are truthful
- 31:27and the liars so many a times. And it's hard to say this to
- 31:31people who are going through problems because it's easy for
- 31:34us to say it, but they're experiencing this, right?
- 31:37But the fact that Allah loves you, he hasn't forgotten you,
- 31:41that's one way of trying to look at this problem maybe, or this
- 31:45Bala which you feel has come upon you.
- 31:48And that in itself is Allah's love coming down.
- 31:52So we have to take that in such a way and understand it such a
- 31:55way that Y'allah, thank you for remembering me.
- 31:58Because if you forget me, then then what is that, right?
- 32:02And that's why even in the doors you'll see the constant thicker
- 32:06of Allah and that He doesn't forget us and that we don't
- 32:09forget him. And even the Quran talks about
- 32:11how you forget Allah, then he'll make you forget yourselves.
- 32:15And you know those who forget Allah, a woman, Yashan thicker
- 32:18Rahman, he who forgets the remnants of a Rahman, nokaya
- 32:21dahlu shaitaan, Allah will assign for him a shaitaan.
- 32:24So this way Allah is reminding us you.
- 32:28Know speaking about love, talking about the love of the
- 32:32last final matarala, there's something actually very
- 32:35interesting with munajat. So I'm seeing this now.
- 32:38You know, the 15 the answer high passage idea.
- 32:42What is my emotion? You know, apart from love, you
- 32:46know, there's when you're scared, there's munajat.
- 32:49You know, if you want to make complaints, there's munajat.
- 32:52Like you can actually come and complain, conversation with
- 32:55Allah, make your complaints, but like you can come to God at any
- 32:59stage, whether I think you fully love him or you're still
- 33:03confused or don't know if God loves you.
- 33:05I generally believe that if we actually read this monarch arts
- 33:09and not just read them like parrots as Ahmed used to say it
- 33:11back in season 3. Do you remember those phrase you
- 33:14used to use? We actually have to see what
- 33:16Really. Yeah, he said.
- 33:17Don't read that. Pirates.
- 33:18That's. True.
- 33:20No, that's my point. But if we reflect, we see that
- 33:23we can actually have a full understanding of every emotion
- 33:26we have within us. And we find this with God said,
- 33:29if we're scared, we go to him of where, you know, feel hopeless.
- 33:34We find hope and Allah, If we find, you know, we feel like the
- 33:37walls abandoned us. No, we find that a lot is
- 33:40looking after us. It's I don't, I don't want to
- 33:42speak too much. I'm trying to learn more than I
- 33:45say. But something I want to ask Hajj
- 33:49of Hamid, if I can say I've come at the very beginning of the
- 33:53conversation. Ahmed did mention, for example,
- 33:55you come from a community that there is emphasis on when I
- 33:57judge. Back in the days when I was
- 34:00younger, my community didn't really have emphasis on when I
- 34:02judge. The only thing I would say we
- 34:05had was Quran circles. We had the Amar and things like
- 34:09this. And for example, because of the
- 34:10I'm in love with Dajjjan, like I can even read it outside of
- 34:14Ramadan and still be mesmerized by one reading and have a
- 34:18relationship with God. Let's say there's others like me
- 34:22back in the day or people as you mentioned are new to Islam.
- 34:26Reverts come. What benefit do we have from
- 34:30this, from these monarchs? A Shia because every school of
- 34:35four has duas here and there. But there's a difference between
- 34:39the duas of Ehlid Bates as there's a difference between how
- 34:42we communicate with Allah through the Ehlid bait.
- 34:44Why is it in the duas of the Ehlid bait we can find in this
- 34:47school of thought that other schools don't offer.
- 34:51I know it's a deep one. Yeah, it's it's deep because I
- 34:55mean the ehlid bait are the peak of elements, yes.
- 34:59And many a times I've even looked at some of my Sunni
- 35:03brothers, I've looked at some of their doors, especially when
- 35:06they go to Umrah or for, for Hajjin, the things that they
- 35:10read on Yomal Arafah, it's very nice.
- 35:14But then you open the Arafah of Al Hussein and you're just blown
- 35:17away. You're blown away because Imam
- 35:20talks from his heart firstly, but the detail that he goes into
- 35:25and even this Manoj comes to usher these 15 that you just
- 35:29mentioned at any stage in your life, like you said, you know,
- 35:34the, the Col. fluctuates, right? The heart fluctuates.
- 35:37So at times you're on a high and you're feeling close to God and
- 35:41you'll read manajat, you know, of the hopeful ones.
- 35:45And then all of a sudden, two days later it's rock bottom and
- 35:49you'll read Manajat tahibeen, you know, those who want to do
- 35:52Tobin. And there's something for
- 35:53everyone and it's like for everything.
- 35:55And even that new one that that Riva brother who has entered
- 35:59into Islam, whatever he's feeling, and they feel more
- 36:02pressure than us, right? Because they have no clue what's
- 36:04going on. But here also, they open this
- 36:07book and they see there's something for everyone.
- 36:09And one of our leaders, Mullah Asghar, I'm sure you've heard of
- 36:12his name, Rahmatullah Ali. He used to make small cassettes
- 36:17of Dahama Karamullah Klak in English.
- 36:21And he used to and he used to sell them or used to send them
- 36:23around to different Muslim communities.
- 36:26And one day he received the letter saying that I live in
- 36:30this part of the world, I'm a Hindu.
- 36:32But every morning your St. whichever St. of yours recited
- 36:37this prayer, I play it in my shop because it's the nobility
- 36:42of characters and it shows such amazing characteristics of what
- 36:47man should be and their relationship with God.
- 36:50And that's not even a non-muslim, that's a non believe
- 36:54in God who is being inspired by the words of Atal bait.
- 36:58So us who claim to believe in God and his Atal bait, we have
- 37:03more responsibility than anyone else to use this.
- 37:06Unfortunately, even like for example, the Alamar say this
- 37:09Munarat Shahrani recited through the whole year again, we'll
- 37:13start picking up, you know, towards the days of Shaban.
- 37:16We should be using all the time same same with all of these one
- 37:20ajat you know. Can I ask you kind of stepping
- 37:24away from the specific one ajat, but into the the coming weeks
- 37:28where we have of course 15th Shaaban and the Almads we do on
- 37:31the night of 15th of Shaaban. Of course, also the, the, the
- 37:35and then of course the days leading up to Shaaban, there is
- 37:42like what seems to be a yearly conversation which happens
- 37:47about, as we said earlier, the ritual tick box of DAR and Amal
- 37:54versus do your thing and follow your heart and do what your
- 37:59heart wants to connect with on the night that you're doing that
- 38:01Amal. You, of course, like I said at
- 38:04the beginning, you are the voice of Amal for many of us, at least
- 38:07for our generation in our local community.
- 38:09I'm so sorry you have to hear me every.
- 38:10Year and Hamdullah, you've elevated us all and you brought
- 38:14tears and you've brought reflection to us and on such a
- 38:18frequent basement. I love, bless you always for
- 38:20that. But what are your views on that?
- 38:23Like is there, is there a way which you personally prefer
- 38:26doing at a mile, if you don't mind me asking?
- 38:28I know of course, congregation is a big thing for us in our
- 38:31community. But at the same time, I think
- 38:33COVID taught me that doing at a mile in the comfort of our homes
- 38:37also has massive benefits. Is there a chronology that we
- 38:41should aim to always follow? Of course, each night is
- 38:44different and should one try to follow a chronology and tick the
- 38:47boxes, you know between Bahadur bin Fajar or how do we kind of
- 38:51approach these coming weeks? Very good question and I feel
- 38:56sometimes the reason why this tick box happens is because at
- 39:00least we in our hearts, we feel satisfied we did armour, you
- 39:04know and and that's the problem. I think we have to understand
- 39:08what the mosque does Amal or our Husseini has do Amal, you know,
- 39:12in a certain way because there is a person there, the layman
- 39:16possibly, who knows that, look, I'm going to come to mosque,
- 39:19I'll do the Amal here. That's what I need to do.
- 39:21I'm going to go to sleep about work tomorrow.
- 39:22Right now we're one step ahead. We're trying to better
- 39:26ourselves. So now we take the Amal and we
- 39:29know maybe there's certain things that we rush.
- 39:32One big thing I know in our communities is still far right,
- 39:35the 70 of stuff for lower tube and 100 stuff for lower tube and
- 39:39Marshall, man, I've never gone through sesame that quickly,
- 39:42right anything. What am I doing, man?
- 39:45So definitely there's certain things that we need to take a
- 39:48step back and say, OK, well I need to do is still far.
- 39:51I'm going to do just 70 because that's one of the test B that's
- 39:55recommended. But I'm going to think of maybe
- 39:575 sins, right? And in my head, those are the
- 40:00sins that I'm going to be thinking of.
- 40:02What I'm doing is so far we need to make it meaningful because
- 40:05otherwise we're going to Allah. Like I said initially with such
- 40:08a general Allah, forgive me for my sins.
- 40:11You've sinned specifically against God.
- 40:14Now start to remember and feel the pain of those sins.
- 40:18Now having said that, obviously there's even other idea that we
- 40:21do in this month. That maybe we should look at and
- 40:25especially maybe read the meaning, take time out to do
- 40:27those things, study the Quran and layer little colour.
- 40:30It's so important to seek knowledge on that those nights
- 40:33is so important. And recently I feel that there's
- 40:37been a more of a, there's been more of a vibe of doing this
- 40:40that you know, we won't do the whole Aman.
- 40:42Our heart won't be in it. We'll do certain things on the
- 40:45opposite side. It's very dangerous as well
- 40:48because you can become lazy and you hide behind this, the shadow
- 40:52of no, no, my heart's not in it, right?
- 40:55It's laziness. Sometimes we have to push the
- 40:58soul. We have to make it feel pain
- 41:01with is still far. There's no point me saying, OK,
- 41:04look, I'm just going to do 5 is still far a soft lower to break
- 41:07five times because I have my heart in it and that's better
- 41:10than the 70 that you do. Let me give a different analogy.
- 41:13Hopefully this will make sense and hit home.
- 41:18Say it's probably the more fitter one out of all of us
- 41:20here, so say it can easily do. The.
- 41:23Press UPS. The jump is just big, that's
- 41:26why. I'm 5151.
- 41:29So say it can do 50 press UPS easily.
- 41:32OK, He does 50 every day, doesn't break a sweat.
- 41:36Does that make him stronger? No, no.
- 41:39But that 51st press up, when he's going for the 51st and he's
- 41:42struggling and he's sweating and he's pushing up and he can feel
- 41:45it, That's what makes him stronger.
- 41:48It's that 51st press up that makes you stronger.
- 41:51But he can't wake up and say, look, I'm just going to do the
- 41:5451st one. I'm just going to do that one.
- 41:57He has to do that 50 to reach that one, which is going to make
- 42:01an impact on him. Similarly, when we're in that
- 42:04environment and is the far is going on, we need our hearts
- 42:08need to settle. Our hearts need to be in the
- 42:10right frame in order to feel that one is the far, just one
- 42:14which will hit home and where you're sincerely to Allah, Yala
- 42:18man, I messed up, Forgive me. And that's all Allah wants.
- 42:21He wants that sincerity in that one.
- 42:24But it's not a switch. You can't just switch on and say
- 42:26I'm going to do that 51st press. So it doesn't work either.
- 42:29So at times we also need to be in that environment with
- 42:32everyone doing it so far, even not with everyone at home, but
- 42:35being disciplined, saying we're going to do a few, we're going
- 42:37to make the heart feel uncomfortable because it's not
- 42:41used to talking to Allah for so long.
- 42:44Say it went to went to Omar recently.
- 42:46Sometimes we go, we have so many, even we go for the hour.
- 42:48We have so many dying things that we want to talk about to
- 42:50Imam and to Allah. And we said that obviously the
- 42:53Kaaba. And after three minutes, all of
- 42:55a sudden we've we've run out of things to say to God.
- 42:57That's embarrassing. His God, you're at his house and
- 43:01now you don't know what to say to him because we're not used to
- 43:03having conversations with him. We're not used to talking to
- 43:06him. Now all of a sudden we're
- 43:07sitting there and we don't know what to say.
- 43:10You know, that's embarrassing. So that heart needs to feel also
- 43:13the discipline of going through certain Amal as well feeling the
- 43:17pain of Istiqfar. Because I told what I said far
- 43:20more because Shahramadhan is based on Istiqfar.
- 43:23You know those little other are for asking for forgiveness and
- 43:27inshallah maybe if we try and do that with discipline in the
- 43:29heart then we can move forward. Yeah, sure, inshallah, beautiful
- 43:33analogies and examples. Many, many I think I personally
- 43:36can learn from and I love how you mentioned the you know, the
- 43:3950 press UPS. I'll get there one day.
- 43:44But but in reality, I think it's true because I think just like
- 43:49how people, for example, you know, they go to the gym, for
- 43:52example, they invest heavily at work so that they can reap the
- 43:55rewards of other profits and whatnot.
- 43:57The same thing is with our spirituality and the same thing
- 44:00with the stuff. I think the more we can invest
- 44:02spiritually, the more I think level of spiritual dosage we can
- 44:07have into our lives. We see things differently and we
- 44:11actually get nearness to a lost point.
- 44:13I think nearness is the biggest thing I think we need to work
- 44:16on, especially myself and Charlotte on the upcoming weeks
- 44:19and I'm going to maximize Charlotte.
- 44:22Yeah, Yeah, yeah. I fully agree.
- 44:24I just wanted to add maybe as as well.
- 44:27Firstly guys, if you've got thoughts, please let us know
- 44:29your feedback in the comments below because how?
- 44:31Much press off can you do? Charlotte, we'll find out.
- 44:34We'll find out tonight. Charlotte, whatever I try and do
- 44:36I have to top it by 1 tomorrow. But yeah guys, that's all of the
- 44:41comments. What you think so far about the
- 44:42conversation? What are your methods?
- 44:44What what are techniques that have worked for you in terms of
- 44:48your spiritual growth? Have you connected with a
- 44:50particular that has been our church out by near being
- 44:53something that you've done before and how does it make you
- 44:55feel? Let us know.
- 44:56We want to hear your thoughts. Something which I think is I
- 45:00think an apt point to begin wrapping up on is, as we
- 45:03mentioned, the relationship we have with the awaited Imam.
- 45:07And of course in these days now Shahaban for us is not just
- 45:13about the preparation for Shahaban.
- 45:15It's equally as all months are, but especially the holy month of
- 45:18Shahaban is about the connection with Imab al Mehdi.
- 45:21Now for some of us, it's go to the mosque, you know, do a
- 45:27couple kasidas and then go home and of course the Amal.
- 45:32But there's also a big part of of in my mind, and this is
- 45:35something I've been reflecting on recently, is that they can't,
- 45:40they can't just be, it can't just be coincidental that the
- 45:43birth of the imam is on, on such a holy night and at the same
- 45:46time is only two weeks before the holy month.
- 45:49Rather, it's something for me I think to reflect on is that the
- 45:52the relationship with Holy Imam is not just like right now we
- 45:56have this popularized thing of 313 Jim Bros who are like
- 45:59preparing for the Imam. She gave me that.
- 46:01That's like a fun thing people do on TikTok now and stuff.
- 46:05At the same time, you then have like the, you know, that camp
- 46:08who just talks about the signs of the Imams, these political
- 46:10analysts and all we forget that the Imam is our Imam.
- 46:15Do you know what I mean? Like the Imam is our Imam, the
- 46:18divinely appointed representative of our last one.
- 46:20That's Allah on earth, who we will aspire to pray behind, who
- 46:24we will follow. What he's doing is talk about or
- 46:26when he's doing any of these things, we are fully like
- 46:30focused on the Imam and his methodology of focusing on a
- 46:33last pond to Allah is the methodology we aspire to to
- 46:36follow and implement and apply to our own selves.
- 46:39So spirituality and our belief in the other debate go hand in
- 46:44hand. They have to, they must, right?
- 46:46And our allegiance to the Holy Imam comes hand in hand with
- 46:50that spirituality. Now I want to ask you from your
- 46:53perspective, how do we, when we talk about the Holy Imam, how do
- 46:59we talk about the level of spirituality that we should
- 47:03raise ourselves to? Do we, for example, look at
- 47:06previous companions and how they were on a spiritual level when
- 47:09they interacted with the Imam? We look at Abu Dhabi and Salman
- 47:12and Imad Al Mahdin, for example. Or do we have any examples for
- 47:16us that will allow us to see, you know, what stage we need to
- 47:20get to if we are to be worthy of being in his presence?
- 47:24Big like loaded question. Yeah, firstly, Mila Hasten is
- 47:29reappearing. If anything, I think we felt his
- 47:34vacuum in these last few months or in the last year, seeing
- 47:38what's been going on in the world.
- 47:40And there's times where I've just turned to God and been
- 47:43like, yo, let's just send him now.
- 47:45Like I can't bear watching it. Imagine him.
- 47:48Ali Salaam, right? He feels it even more than us.
- 47:52Plus, you know, the whole out of sight, out of mind thing.
- 47:56So I think many times we actually forget that we have an
- 47:59Imam who is living, who is there for us, who prays for us, and we
- 48:05kind of need to reciprocate that as well.
- 48:08And we need to ask Allah through through his name.
- 48:12I think in terms of companions or qualities, when we look in
- 48:16the Quran and we see those who were the muttaqeen, those who
- 48:22were closest to God, that's our, that's our aim, that's our role.
- 48:27Because when we look at that and we see the qualities of those
- 48:30muttaheen and those muttminin, etcetera, etcetera, then we know
- 48:35that's what we need to aspire towards and that's what Iman
- 48:38will pick. It's very nice seeing these
- 48:40companions and there's the great role models for us.
- 48:44But even better than them are the added bait, right?
- 48:47And one Sheikh just recently told me that once he met Amaraja
- 48:53who's passed away, I won't name drop.
- 48:55I don't know how how there are classes with that, so I just
- 49:00leave that blank. But he met someone and he said
- 49:03to him, say them I want to be like you.
- 49:07And they say I told them aim for Hassan and Hussein and you'll
- 49:13reach not just me, you'll reach better than me.
- 49:15Don't aim for this right and. Set the bar high.
- 49:19Exactly, exactly right. Go for that.
- 49:22And then if you drop, OK, fine. But if you, if you, if you aim
- 49:24here, then you're going to drop, right?
- 49:26So just aim as high as possible. And I think that's the beauty
- 49:30and the month coming is the month of the Quran.
- 49:33But the beauty is it's not just the month of the Quran that this
- 49:37whole Quran that we talk about these these qualities are
- 49:41manifested so perfectly in these Holi 14, right?
- 49:46And it's, it's just like, it's like if, if, if a poet walks in
- 49:51and he's written a poem about a snowy evening in London and how
- 49:56the snow has settled on the leaves and how beautiful it
- 49:59looks, it's white crystal, etcetera, etcetera.
- 50:02And then an artist walks in and an artist sees the, the, the
- 50:05poem and he draws a beautiful on a canvas, a beautiful picture of
- 50:10what this poem says. It's amazing.
- 50:13It's beautiful, but when the poet comes back in and he looks
- 50:16at it, he'll see and I say that's beautiful, but in his
- 50:19mind, it's not the exact same picture right?
- 50:23Now imagine if the poet himself is an artist.
- 50:27So exactly what he reads, he depicts the same exact image on
- 50:32that canvas. That's the that what you read in
- 50:35the Quran is the exact same thing you'll see manifested in
- 50:39them, in them walking and talking.
- 50:41And that's the beauty that this inelin Muttakina mafaza, these,
- 50:45these muttakin who have become successful and victorious, Why
- 50:49they successful? What are their qualities?
- 50:51The exact same qualities that the Quran talks about is what
- 50:53you'll see. And that's the exact same thing.
- 50:55The beauty of seeing the Holy Quran coming down in this night
- 50:59and then seeing the greatest man after a soul being taken back to
- 51:04Allah in this same night as well in this same land.
- 51:09And I love sorry if I can just mention this point.
- 51:17No, you referenced the Quran and the debates for us.
- 51:20You know, we know that they lived by, preached by and died
- 51:23by the Quran. And this is something important
- 51:25to reflect on Inshallah over the next few weeks leading up to the
- 51:28month of the Quran, which is Shah Ramadan and Shah Allah.
- 51:31But Ahmed, yeah, I feel like genuinely with you as well and
- 51:39with our honourable guest here today that I have got a free
- 51:41session of commentary on. So this is for me, this is this
- 51:46is like a bonus. And there's so much I'm going to
- 51:48take back after this episode and shall implement over the next
- 51:51few weeks and leading all the way into Sharma. 100 percent,
- 51:55100% no. It's definitely been, I think,
- 51:59an amazing start to Season 4, our first guest and we're so
- 52:03honoured to have you comment. Thank you for having me.
- 52:06You, you, you. We set the ball high.
- 52:08Yeah, we set the ball high. Yeah, Yeah, we're really
- 52:12honoured. For those who don't know, I
- 52:15know, but you have a project which you've run over the last
- 52:18few years on Instagram, every shot on the band.
- 52:20Can you tell us about it? One of my favorite.
- 52:22Do you know every year I like spam your Instagram.
- 52:24Have you realized? I have.
- 52:25I have. Thank you for supporting I.
- 52:29I Al Hamdullah, have been really inspired by the Holy Quran since
- 52:35I was young from recitation. But then Al Hamdul moved on to
- 52:38more to dub bore and now one of my passions, as I said was
- 52:41linguistics and etymology. So Al Hamdullah, the Quran has
- 52:45had a great impact on me and has inspired me in a way that I
- 52:49can't even fathom. And I I want to try and inspire
- 52:54others with the Holy Quran. So we try and do a chronic and
- 52:57inspiration on Instagram. I tried it through the year, but
- 53:01I get a bit lazy. But in Shah Ramadan, I
- 53:04definitely enjoy that every night we do release what short
- 53:07video, either a theme or a word in the Holy Quran, what it
- 53:11means, etymology and maybe something to take away from it.
- 53:15I said. I said I highly, highly
- 53:17recommend everyone at home to follow Muhammad Hajj Mohammed
- 53:21Datu and support the work he's doing and keep up with his
- 53:24journey because. What's the Instagram handle?
- 53:27M datu? M datu Yeah.
- 53:29Beautiful, beautiful. All right, guys, thank you so
- 53:32much. Thank you again, Mohammed, say
- 53:33thank you as always. Thank you.
- 53:36We will be back next week. Run sisters, as we approach, as
- 53:39we are saying, these blessed and holy nights, we're going to
- 53:42continue our conversation and our themes, which we talked
- 53:44about last week in these coming weeks to talk more about a last
- 53:47one to allow the relationship we have with him.
- 53:49And of course, many of the other beta name of Salam, which we
- 53:52celebrate and commemorate during these blessed months.
- 53:54So stay tuned. Let us know what you think.
- 53:56Make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel.
- 53:59Yeah, yeah. And yeah, let us know your
- 54:01thoughts. Brothers, sisters, take care of
- 54:02Salam Alaikum.
