[SPEAKER_01]: That's me Kyle here today talking with my buddy, Derek Trucks, the Tideski Trucks band are back with future soul, an album that finds them teaming up with producer Mike Elizondo and really stretch in their boundaries, they've got a 12 piece band and the whole album just drives, finds them doing some few songs are like future soul, they've got a grunge song on here.
• 2:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Derek and I are going to talk all about all of that.
• 2:08
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to figure out how they landed on these sounds.
• 2:11
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get the stories behind some of the songs like who I am and how that kind of reminds me of Into the Mystic from Van Mores into definite dreamingness there.
• 2:20
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get into Susan Tadeski's secret wishes to be a punk artist.
• 2:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Susan and I have have talked about that in the past.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get Derek's take on it this time.
• 2:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also talking about the 2026 tour too.
• 2:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they've got
• 2:33
[SPEAKER_01]: folks like Jason is bull and Cheryl Crow and Alabama shakes among others opening up for them.
• 2:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Tedeski trucks ban are opening up for the Eagles.
• 2:40
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a full circle moment as Joe Walsh sort of gave a 12-year-old Derek Trucks a lift up at the beginning of his career.
• 2:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So we hear about what that's like as well.
• 2:51
[SPEAKER_01]: All that and more as we discuss the Avum future soul.
• 2:55
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Kyle Meredith with Derek Trucks.
• 2:58
  [SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
• 2:59
[SPEAKER_01]: The compliments, of course, at first it's so great to have new music as always from Tedeski Trucks Band, but man, future soul, like a soul, the artwork, and that look cool, and I saw the title, and that look cool, and then you hear the music, you're like, this is different.
• 3:13
[SPEAKER_01]: This is, I mean, in such a great way, maybe,
• 3:17
[SPEAKER_01]: like maybe my favorite thing that I've ever heard from you.
• 3:20
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
• 3:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh man.
• 3:21
  [SPEAKER_03]: Grass out feels dust.
• 3:23
[SPEAKER_03]: We're excited for this one.
• 3:24
[SPEAKER_03]: It's yeah, it feels it feels very present and now and current and but it feels like the band and it's uh you know, it feels like a band that's uh starting to understand what it's doing.
• 3:38
[SPEAKER_03]: He's been a good portion of your life like trying to figure out what your strengths are and I feel like this one, the core of the band and the song writer showed up with just incredible material and the writing was a lot of fun and then Mike Alazando, the producer that we worked with, just had amazing ideas sonically and otherwise and it was just a lot of fun to make this one.
• 4:00
[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to get into all that knowing that you all were coming off of
• 4:04
[SPEAKER_01]: essentially you know a four-part concept record from the one before that like I was starting to think in the terms of like the who and you know like the who would do one of their big records and then they would do the who by numbers.
• 4:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah yeah yeah like like this isn't exactly that but was there a sense of like okay like do you like we've we gotta we gotta we gotta take a breather for a second.
• 4:30
[SPEAKER_03]: I think the idea was definitely, you know, we made that the four-part record in the pandemic, so there was just an awful lot of time and energy, and it was just a weird time, you know?
• 4:44
[SPEAKER_03]: No one knew which way was up, and that record was very much of that.
• 4:49
[SPEAKER_03]: This time around we had been on the road for a few years when the pandemic ended and we could travel again and tour.
• 4:55
[SPEAKER_03]: And when we started thinking about a record, I think the first thing we said was we don't have to do that again.
• 5:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Like we can, if we ever want to, we can, but this one, I say we just go in and we've got a lot to write about, we've been touring, there's a lot of bottled up music and ideas.
• 5:13
  [SPEAKER_03]: Let's just go.
• 5:14
[SPEAKER_03]: let's just go see if we can come up with like the best 10 12 tunes and we went up writing about 17 and recording 17 so we ended up having there was a thought for a second of oh shit we keep going we make this like a double record like no no no just slow down
• 5:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm always saying this, I'm really waiting for bands to bring back B-sides because it's so easy now like you've got those songs under there and then but they end up sitting on the shelf because eventually you start getting excited about what's next.
• 5:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
• 5:48
[SPEAKER_03]: So we already decided that this one even when we were sequencing it because
• 5:53
[SPEAKER_03]: Like we really loved all of the 17 like we finished them all like it was going to be every song was going to be on the record knowing that they were not and then We just we're like what's the what's the most complete thought and it became this 11 future soul But the others six were already we're already thinking already mixed and ready like the rest of them so I think it'll be an EP probably maybe half half a year after this record.
• 6:18
  [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know exactly what we'll do with it, but we're
• 6:21
[SPEAKER_03]: We're treating them as, you know, equal siblings.
• 6:25
  [SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
• 6:26
  [SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
• 6:26
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 6:27
  [SPEAKER_01]: So future sold it.
• 6:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're talking about Elizondo, which, you know, incredible mind there.
• 6:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, when you're talking about like coming up with these ideas and these sounds, where does that start to come from for you guys?
• 6:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And like, like, how did you end up with this sound that you did?
• 6:45
[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, some of it was Mike Madison, one of the principal songwriters in the band with me forever.
• 6:52
[SPEAKER_03]: He came in with a few demos where he had some really weird and unique sounds on the demos, you know, sitting at home.
• 7:00
[SPEAKER_03]: So some of that was already baked into the cake.
• 7:03
[SPEAKER_03]: But once we had the songs established and we had talked to Mike Alazando about what we were gonna do.
• 7:09
[SPEAKER_03]: Once we had the studio, it was pretty wide open.
• 7:12
[SPEAKER_03]: we had a lot of faith and trust in him and his engineer and we started setting up gear and getting sounds and immediately you could just tell oh this is going to this one's going to feel a little different in the best way you put on the headphones and the way the drums and bass were just pumping and breathing it was there was something just a little more aggressive and edgy are about the sounds and I really it made everyone play differently which is nice
• 7:38
[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, I know this band, but it sounds like a new band to me, like it sounds like, and it was something really refreshing about that in the studio.
• 7:45
[SPEAKER_03]: So it was, every take was just, it didn't take long, man.
• 7:49
[SPEAKER_03]: It was really in Mike's, Alicanda was an incredible musician in his own right.
• 7:53
[SPEAKER_03]: It's good or better, so everyone in the band.
• 7:55
[SPEAKER_03]: So he could, if he had a musical idea, he could articulate it really clearly.
• 8:00
[SPEAKER_03]: And the band, I think, really enjoyed having direction like that, because it was like, hey, what if we try this and he would spell it out and everyone's like, oh, I understand that language, and then you dive in and you're like, oh, that's a great idea.
• 8:12
  [SPEAKER_03]: Let's roll, roll tape.
• 8:13
  [SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
• 8:14
[SPEAKER_03]: So it was, it was a lot of fun making this one.
• 8:17
[SPEAKER_03]: It felt like everyone was being pushed and challenged a little bit and it felt like,
• 8:23
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, talking about getting people in and out of their comfort zones, I think can be a little overused and overplayed, but it was nice just pushing people in different directions and getting different sides of everybody.
• 8:35
[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it brought out a lot of a lot of new ideas.
• 8:39
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll be right back right after this.
• 8:41
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'll come back.
• 8:41
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Kyle Meredith with Derek trucks because and several of those I want to bring up and we'll start with that title track too because because you've got this great moment where the sound meets the lyric, you know, because you have this great lyric.
• 8:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope your future's got soul in it.
• 8:57
[SPEAKER_01]: And then the sound of your guitar is a futuristic sound, you know, it sounds like it's all through it.
• 9:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Chicken or the egg, what comes first?
• 9:07
[SPEAKER_03]: The lyric and, you know, Mike Madison had written that big riff that plays through the whole tune.
• 9:13
[SPEAKER_03]: And on his demo, it was super blown out, like just sounded like his laptop was going to blow up.
• 9:18
[SPEAKER_03]: So we wanted to keep kind of the ugliness and kind of just the punk rockness of the sound of it.
• 9:25
[SPEAKER_03]: And Mike Alisando is all about that.
• 9:27
  [SPEAKER_03]: So he was excited.
• 9:28
[SPEAKER_03]: And then when it came time for that solo, I just remember thinking, oh, this one, it has to, like you said, it has to fit.
• 9:35
[SPEAKER_03]: It has to sound like this song.
• 9:37
[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not, I'm not really well versed or I don't use a lot of guitar
• 9:42
[SPEAKER_03]: But Susan's guitar tech, Ryan Murphy, who's also a great guitar player.
• 9:46
[SPEAKER_03]: He's straight from the Hendrix TV Ray school, and I was like, Ryan, I want my guitar to sound like the amp or the room is going to blow up.
• 9:55
[SPEAKER_03]: Can you help me find this?
• 9:56
[SPEAKER_03]: And he's like, oh, I've got just the thing for you.
• 9:59
[SPEAKER_03]: And he breaks out this old Octavian pedal.
• 10:02
[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of like the Hendrix buzz face, but just kind of on 10.
• 10:06
[SPEAKER_03]: And we dialed it in.
• 10:08
[SPEAKER_03]: and have this old flying V, and I played a few notes, and you just have to hang on for dear life to get it to not just bring out of your hand, but I was like, it was a little bit of survival trial by fire, and it was really a lot of fun to play.
• 10:24
[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, so I think you can feel the toes over the edge of the cliff on that, because I really had no idea what the instrument
• 10:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I love hear that from your point because because so many times with guitarists, it's like the song comes to them, you know, they're going to do what they're going to do.
• 10:46
[SPEAKER_01]: But like hearing that like you've just got to keep up with this thing that's already in motion the whole time.
• 10:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, and what we I really do, I think our band is good about this is.
• 10:55
[SPEAKER_03]: you really do try to play to the song to the lyric to the feeling of the thing if there's a if there's a solo that you're not playing live on the floor and there's a space there and you're thinking about what goes there you really do spend a lot of time trying to imagine before you play it like what what should be here or
• 11:13
[SPEAKER_03]: this has to hold up and be as important as the verse and you know those things those are things that i think from working with people like gyms god or great producers over the years it's like this isn't just a space for you to go play guitar like this is it's got to be you got to play some music it's got to you got to you know you're
• 11:31
  [SPEAKER_03]: you're composing in a way.
• 11:32
[SPEAKER_03]: It's got to sound like it's supposed to be there.
• 11:34
[SPEAKER_03]: If it's not there, then it should feel like the song is lesser.
• 11:38
[SPEAKER_03]: It's not, it can't just be whatever you would just do on any given night.
• 11:42
[SPEAKER_03]: So those are things you really think about.
• 11:44
[SPEAKER_03]: And when you get it, when you play one that feels like it's supposed to be there, you immediately have that feeling.
• 11:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that sounds like a record to me, but that sounds like a thing.
• 11:54
[SPEAKER_01]: So those are, those are fun when
• 12:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And last, so when I had Susan on was a couple of years ago and she was doing the anniversary of her debut.
• 12:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember we were talking about that.
• 12:09
[SPEAKER_01]: We started talking about, you know, her early days and her talking about her like how she'd like to play a little bit of punk secretly and grunge and everything and we're joking about like you needed, you need a song like that and I'm not saying narrowed of you did that, but I'm saying I hear that in this song right here.
• 12:28
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, no, she's a punk at heart and so is our drummer Falcon and so is Mike Madison and our drummer Tyler Greenwell, we call him Falcon he that was a song he brought in and immediately he was like, oh, yeah, we're doing this we're doing this but that was a fun one too because that that big outro when we recorded it, it's just
• 12:50
[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it was just, let's try to, again, let's try to make it sound like the place is going to blow up.
• 12:55
[SPEAKER_03]: But the energy in the room was really amazing, but we didn't have any of this, like the extra solo sounds on top of it.
• 13:01
[SPEAKER_03]: So me and Sue did a similar thing where we put her and her, her vocal booth with an app set up with just, you know, sounds that she could barely control.
• 13:11
[SPEAKER_03]: And then I did that in the other room and we, we tracked it together and it was, that was quite a lot of fun.
• 13:20
[SPEAKER_03]: We recorded all the basic tracks and most of the music here, we took the record up to his studio and did the background vocals and horns up at his place and some of the keyboard overdo because he has the most insane collection of vintage keyboards like analog sense, all kinds of things, and they're all plugged in and ready to go.
• 13:44
[SPEAKER_03]: So, if you're hearing anything weird, you're like, Mike, I'm hearing this, uh, like, just give some weird reference to a record and he's like, he'll dial it up in about three seconds.
• 13:54
[SPEAKER_03]: You're like, that's exactly what we were looking for, you were the man.
• 13:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it does, it takes that detour towards the end of the song, too.
• 14:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, I'm not expecting a coat of moment in this song.
• 14:04
[SPEAKER_03]: And so, no, it feels like it's, yeah, it's just a grunge tune.
• 14:07
[SPEAKER_03]: It's just going to be short and sweet.
• 14:09
[SPEAKER_03]: And then, yeah, and then there's a drop of acid.
• 14:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, then you get the backup of Leila on top of it.
• 14:14
  [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I'm quite fun.
• 14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you know, we're talking about those genres and everything.
• 14:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how often do you, like, what am I asking?
• 14:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you also have a secret stash of punk songs and metal songs that, like, how often do you experiment with the other genres like that yourself?
• 14:31
[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, I would say a lot of that music, I get introduced to in small doses by Mike and Sue and Falcon, those guys, I'm still learning that stuff.
• 14:43
[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of new to me, so when I do peak around the corner, like, oh, this is pretty damn fun, let's do that some more.
• 14:53
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I wanted to like, are these moments of demos sitting around with you and drop D, you know?
• 15:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I can do that too.
• 15:01
  [SPEAKER_03]: Someday, there's still time.
• 15:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Want to see where that goes.
• 15:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you've got, I mean, you were talking about this a minute ago to have this band, you know, that's still figuring out what they can do.
• 15:15
  [SPEAKER_01]: And it's what 12 piece?
• 15:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: At the end.
• 15:18
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 15:18
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like in these songs,
• 15:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, to have 12 people, there's a lot of opportunity.
• 15:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure everybody's such a great musician where it's like, I know when to play and I know when to lay back.
• 15:33
[SPEAKER_01]: But like, how often do you try and to keep everybody busy?
• 15:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, does every song have to have everyone?
• 15:39
[SPEAKER_03]: you know I think we've gotten a lot better at realizing that we don't have to do that at all like it's you just serve the tune you serve the thing and if if some of these ended up being trio quartet quintet I think it would have been just fine I think this material is kind of lent itself to the full band having having a producer on this was nice because it
• 16:03
[SPEAKER_03]: It freed me up from having to feel like I needed to include everybody at all times because I could there was plausible deniabillities like I'm that the producer that's taking up with him is only so I think that kind of free to stop to just full I mean we always focus on that mission like whatever serves the tune but
• 16:23
[SPEAKER_03]: Without a doubt, there's times where you just feel like, well, let's just involve everybody and maybe maybe that's not always the right code But this this record was great because I didn't have to worry about that as much I had I had a partner that I could learn for the future right there Yeah, always have somebody that you can blame things on
• 16:43
[SPEAKER_03]: But it was great because the other thing that worked out well is we recorded and we generally do this.
• 16:50
[SPEAKER_03]: You record the core of the band at one time and then you add things as you go.
• 16:54
[SPEAKER_03]: But we added them at a different studio and just the way Mike Elizondo would hear things and record them and you know if there were going to be horns on a certain song he has these old
• 17:05
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he has just incredible weird old gear, the sold reverb tank that's on all these Lee scratch Perry records, he's like, let's just just run the horns through there and just blow him out.
• 17:14
  [SPEAKER_03]: You can't even tell it's a horn.
• 17:15
  [SPEAKER_03]: You're like, great.
• 17:16
  [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do that.
• 17:17
[SPEAKER_03]: So it was really like, if there was some ear candy that would work on the tune, we would use it.
• 17:22
[SPEAKER_03]: And if not, we're like, you know what, it doesn't need to be there.
• 17:25
[SPEAKER_03]: And that was the end of the discussion.
• 17:26
[SPEAKER_03]: So that was a little bit liberating.
• 17:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll be right back right after this.
• 17:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
• 17:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's Kyle.
• 17:34
[SPEAKER_01]: going into this, you know, and we're talking about these sounds and the solos and everything.
• 17:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you in these moments still find specifically a moment that surprises you that you've done?
• 17:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm asking because, you know, guitar virtuoso, right?
• 17:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Child prodigy, like you've been doing this a long time.
• 17:55
[SPEAKER_01]: you know you know what to do your tool belt is there that's what i'm getting it you have the tools so where on this record are you going oh i didn't know i can do that look the studio i think is where a lot of that stuff comes out because
• 18:08
[SPEAKER_03]: just the the microscope is you're so tuned into these tunes and you're so deep in them you're when you're tracking them when you're writing them when you're hearing them in the studio if you go in for an overdub you're kind of you're kind of looking at a tune like you'll probably never look at it before you just inside of this thing and when you when you play to it I think a lot of times you
• 18:29
[SPEAKER_03]: things come out that would not normally come out.
• 18:31
[SPEAKER_03]: There's times listen and back to these things where you're like, I'm not sure what I played there.
• 18:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Like I have to go to go learn your own parts.
• 18:39
[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you because it just kind of, you're just kind of so in it in a different, it's a different musical muscles that you're using.
• 18:46
[SPEAKER_03]: Even the outro to like a future soul, but sometimes a subtle stuff like what in the world or there's a little
• 18:56
[SPEAKER_03]: There's maybe approaches that you just don't normally take live, because when it's live, you're going from song to song, and the actions happen in quick, and you're not necessarily having time to shift to fully get into character for the tune.
• 19:09
[SPEAKER_03]: And when you're in the studio, you spend sometimes a whole day on a song or longer.
• 19:14
[SPEAKER_03]: You're so inside of that thing that I don't know if you ever see it the same way, when you play the stuff live.
• 19:21
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, there's stuff all the time in the studio
• 19:26
[SPEAKER_03]: You end up there's different parts of your vocabulary that either you've reinterpreted or you didn't know where they're quite and so that's that's that's the thing that I think's made me learn to love making records where before it felt like a I feel like something you had to do.
• 19:42
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and now it's I really look forward to as much or more than Tories getting in the studio with the band or getting in the studio with people like Mike Elizondo or Justin Francis the engineer where it's like, oh, we're going to learn some stuff like I'm I'm going to leave this and have a new perspective on how to get a drum sound or or how to how to approach recording a guitar or just whatever it is there's a it's nice having fresh years around too.
• 20:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and speaking of riffs, by the way, that who I am, like, that song, like we're talking about all this energy and that song has a different, but it's so laid back without rushing it.
• 20:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, my first thought when I heard that was it reminded me just a little bit of into the mystic.
• 20:28
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cool.
• 20:28
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I, I think I was reading the, the one sheet, the bio and everything and you actually use that word dreamingness, you know, it was like, oh, that's it.
• 20:38
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
• 20:38
  [UNKNOWN]: It's
• 20:38
[SPEAKER_03]: I love, man, that one's a lot of fun to play, and that one we wrote up at our farm in Georgia, which is a really peaceful, beautiful place.
• 20:45
[SPEAKER_03]: We had the core of the band up there, and that was one of the first tunes written for this record.
• 20:50
[SPEAKER_03]: And it was, I just woke up, I remember having that riff, just sometimes a riff will just be on your hands, you pick up a guitar and, you know, and immediately
• 21:03
[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, oh, this is gonna be good.
• 21:06
[SPEAKER_03]: And then Gabe jumped in.
• 21:07
[SPEAKER_03]: We came up with those core changes for the chorus and Gabe's hum this incredible melody.
• 21:14
[SPEAKER_03]: And then the lyrics started bouncing out.
• 21:16
[SPEAKER_03]: And it was, that one was a lot of fun to write.
• 21:20
[SPEAKER_03]: And it, like I had chills while it was being created.
• 21:23
[SPEAKER_03]: It was one of those.
• 21:24
[SPEAKER_03]: When those two would kind of jump in and sing together.
• 21:27
[SPEAKER_03]: They were like, oh, this is like it felt good when I was playing it.
• 21:33
[SPEAKER_01]: It is magic and some songs that song got it, you know, yeah, I think I really think so too.
• 21:38
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's one where, while Sue was singing in the studio and we played it live, like she's gotten me a few times and she's singing it.
• 21:45
[SPEAKER_03]: There's some emotional moments in there and yeah, she taps right into that sucker.
• 21:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to hear a lot of these live.
• 21:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll bring that up because God, you guys touring with, you know, you got the shakes on.
• 21:59
[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually going to be in Cincinnati right off the road here.
• 22:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Isabel Cheryl Lucas Nelson, I mean.
• 22:05
[SPEAKER_01]: just inviting all your friends to open up for you.
• 22:07
  [SPEAKER_03]: That's nice.
• 22:08
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're shocked that any of them said yes, but we're excited.
• 22:12
[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a lot of fun.
• 22:13
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's, yeah, I mean, these are these are friends that we've known for a very long time, and people that we admire, and
• 22:20
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, just excited to be on the road with them.
• 22:22
[SPEAKER_03]: It's uh, yeah, we're hitting the ground running this year.
• 22:24
  [SPEAKER_03]: We're doing those dates.
• 22:25
[SPEAKER_03]: We just, there's some, we're open for the Eagles for a few shows.
• 22:29
[SPEAKER_03]: It would just announce that'll be a trip.
• 22:31
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I've known Joe Walsons.
• 22:33
[SPEAKER_03]: I was nine or 10 years old and, um, having Vince Gill out there is pretty incredible.
• 22:38
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, we'll be, uh, we'll be taking notes this year too.
• 22:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it's a nice, kind of full circle moment there as you talk about, you know, Joe Walsh, there's some fun pictures, of course, of you all.
• 22:47
[SPEAKER_01]: But, but this being the victory lap for them and pulling you guys out.
• 22:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's, that's got to mean something.
• 22:53
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it was really cool when they, when they reached out about us doing this, because it, it, it came from them and even like the, uh, when they were sitting around, uh, a little ad map that they were going to use for the tour, they, they, they, they made it known that, uh,
• 23:07
[SPEAKER_03]: that, uh, Henley really wanted to make sure that our band's name was right up there and it wasn't buried and, you know, it was very sweet of them to include us and, uh, kind of, carry us along.
• 23:19
[SPEAKER_03]: So we're pumped about that because that's, uh, I mean, that's their audience I feel like is, it makes a lot of sense for our audience, but their audience don't really, they don't really know us.
• 23:29
[SPEAKER_03]: I most of them don't know us.
• 23:30
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's, uh, it's rare that you can get in front of a crowd of, um,
• 23:35
[SPEAKER_03]: where people that are music fans, you know, and that I think fits the sensibility and it's and that it's people that don't know the group, because usually we're preaching to the choir, which is what just awesome, by the way, but it's going to be a different experience.
• 23:50
[SPEAKER_03]: We open for the Eagles a few years ago.
• 23:53
[SPEAKER_03]: We filled in for a steely Dan when Donald Fagan was sick.
• 23:57
[SPEAKER_03]: We did I think two nights and Atlanta and and you know Atlanta's hometown for us, but we hit the stage.
• 24:03
[SPEAKER_03]: We realized, oh, I think about 75% of this audience or more have no idea.
• 24:09
[SPEAKER_03]: And then you get to win a win, like we had to really win them over, which was like it was a different feeling, but by the end of it, I think we got them, which was felt really good, but that's going to be fun on that tour, trying to figure out maybe how to win them over earlier in the set.
• 24:25
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how that works, but we'll see fingerprints with any of these songs.
• 24:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: I know it's going to happen.
• 24:30
[SPEAKER_01]: This yogurt is so good.
• 24:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't wait to hear how this sounds live.
• 24:35
[SPEAKER_01]: But seriously, you know, it doesn't even have to be about that as we're talking about, like it's such a great record that I enjoy.
• 24:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: Awesome, man.
• 24:41
[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm excited for this one.
• 24:43
  [SPEAKER_03]: Really are.
• 24:44
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 24:45
[SPEAKER_01]: just a huge congrats man seriously.
• 24:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say really quickly here at the end by the way tomorrow I'm talking with with Bottomasa and George Benson.
• 24:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing about the BB King record and you guys are on that too with with Michael McDonald.
• 24:59
[SPEAKER_03]: Man that was a lot of fun.
• 25:00
[SPEAKER_03]: Tell those guys how for us.
• 25:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Sue, Sue got a chance to play with George Benson and BB King at Montereau one year and that was a surreal moment for her.
• 25:10
[SPEAKER_03]: And me and Joe know each other since I was 12 or 13 and that the BV project is really incredible and And that track we got to do with Michael McDonald's is epic and so good here in Sue and Michael McDonald's Same together is just the do-at that I never knew I needed
• 25:27
[SPEAKER_03]: But it's totally like what totally makes sense once you hear it.
• 25:30
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 25:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're all attracted with Michael McDonald.
• 25:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: You got that.
• 25:33
[SPEAKER_03]: And you can tell they inspire each other like so we'll just see we'll just sing 10 of us and then Michael McDonald comes in like, let's just really that when we we got those final tapes back, it was it was exciting cranking that up and let's do it.
• 25:49
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's a fun one man.
• 25:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, seriously, it's always great talker to you.
• 25:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I look forward to seeing you guys out on the road again.
