- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost Famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hey, everybody's Bob getting here with almost Famous. I say
- 0:08Speaker 2: the ogs for every episode I do. That's why I
- 0:11Speaker 2: have my little Mikey thing on here. But it is
- 0:13Speaker 2: just the almost famous podcast. We are at our second
- 0:16Speaker 2: annual Trista Tahoe Pickleball Extravaganza.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It's only called that because she won last year.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Next year it'll be the Bob Pickleball Extravaganza here in
- 0:25Speaker 2: Tahoe because I'm planning on whooping some ass today.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Yeah right, she's really good.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I'm here with bachel Nation alum Courtney Robertson and Katie Bigger,
- 0:35Speaker 2: of course, married to Zachary Sallcas, the one and only
- 0:39Speaker 2: Zachie Shalls. We call him not to be confused with
- 0:43Speaker 2: Gabby's Zach, which even though she was trying to get
- 0:47Speaker 2: your Zach, she ended up with a Zach another Zach, right,
- 0:50Speaker 2: so he's the Zach Attack. And of course we have
- 0:53Speaker 2: former Bachelor producer Alana with us today too. And Alana
- 0:56Speaker 2: was a producer on your season, right, Katie.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Correct, Yeah, very nice.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I'm sure given the current state of events, Alana knows
- 1:04Speaker 2: some tea. And we'll be getting into spills in this
- 1:07Speaker 2: hot episode. So, guys, let's talk about this. Taylor Frankie Paul, right,
- 1:12Speaker 2: of course, has kind of set the franchise on its ear,
- 1:14Speaker 2: I think to a certain degree. Never had a season
- 1:17Speaker 2: canceled before, right, never had a season not air before,
- 1:20Speaker 2: at least not to my knowledge. My knowledge is not spectacular.
- 1:25Speaker 2: By the way, when it comes to franchise. I may
- 1:27Speaker 2: have disengaged for several decades, but point is I didn't.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I've never known of that happening before.
- 1:33Speaker 2: And I think that also, you know, in light of ratings,
- 1:36Speaker 2: the clients and things of that nature. That's why the
- 1:38Speaker 2: whole Taylor Frankie Paul casting even happened, right. We were
- 1:41Speaker 2: trying to reinvent the wheel a little bit, see what
- 1:43Speaker 2: we could spark interest, maybe carry over from one show
- 1:46Speaker 2: to the next, that whole bit. However, let's talk about
- 1:51Speaker 2: the state of the franchise in a moment. To kind
- 1:52Speaker 2: of kickstart that conversation, We've got a voicemail and by
- 1:55Speaker 2: the way, guys, if you're listening to the show, you
- 1:57Speaker 2: want to leave us voicemail, you can do it an
- 1:59Speaker 2: eight four to four five. I have almost that's almost
- 2:03Speaker 2: to our spelling challenge friends. So let's go ahead and
- 2:05Speaker 2: play that voicemail and let's talk about it.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I just wanted to comment on how The Bachelor could
- 2:12Speaker 4: reach a wider audience. I think it just needs to
- 2:15Speaker 4: keep up with how people actually watch TV today, and
- 2:18Speaker 4: that is via streaming. As a mom myself of three
- 2:22Speaker 4: young kids, I don't have time to watch Down, Sit
- 2:24Speaker 4: Down every week and watch a live cable show, and
- 2:27Speaker 4: I don't want to watch ads, so I would want
- 2:31Speaker 4: to watch on my own timing, you know, late at
- 2:34Speaker 4: night when the kids are napping, whatever it is. So
- 2:37Speaker 4: I think The Bachelor really needs to move completely to
- 2:41Speaker 4: Hulu and Disney Plus and they'll reach a much wider
- 2:45Speaker 4: audience that way.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Right already, you know, I believe it airs first on
- 2:50Speaker 2: ABC and then in the later Arizon Hulu. So let's
- 2:54Speaker 2: recap that voicemail real quick. So basically, Heather and I
- 2:56Speaker 2: were just talking about this earlier today too. You know,
- 2:59Speaker 2: a lot of show now, the format's different, It's much faster, right,
- 3:03Speaker 2: It gets to the point a lot quicker Bachelor's two
- 3:05Speaker 2: hour episodes. Every single time you turn around, I think
- 3:07Speaker 2: you lose a lot of potential viewership there now.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Of course with commercials.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I get it people don't like them, but it really
- 3:12Speaker 2: depends depends the undergarment for men and ladies no matter
- 3:16Speaker 2: their age. I wear it depends you should too, Heather, Seriously,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you didn't even react to that.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I just did it depends ad.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You know that's pair of bills, guys. I just said, no,
- 3:27Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. I haven't wear depends in a while.
- 3:28Speaker 2: But point being, I'm more Huggies. It's true, right, I mean,
- 3:34Speaker 2: we lose people, you lose people's attention. I don't really watch.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I mean I think about the way I watch TV
- 3:40Speaker 2: and I go downstairs and I turn on an app
- 3:43Speaker 2: and I watch my show, right, And I don't watch
- 3:46Speaker 2: a lot on network TV.
- 3:48Speaker 3: How about you? Do you watch a lot of network TV?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Kiddy?
- 3:50Speaker 3: No, not really, not really. What do you are? You
- 3:53Speaker 3: like a Netflix person?
- 3:54Speaker 5: We're definitely Netflix, Peacock, Yeah, Hulu, Disney Plus, and we're
- 4:03Speaker 5: kind of all over the place.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Do you still watch The Bachelor? Do you watch The Bachelor?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Not really?
- 4:07Speaker 3: Not as much, not as much. I think.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Also it's hard because like.
- 4:10Speaker 5: When you know the behind the scenes and how it's
- 4:14Speaker 5: all constructed, you.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Know how the sausages made this act. It's it's a.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Little harder to watch, yeah, because you're just like that
- 4:22Speaker 5: was obviously, you know, manipulated that sentence actually wasn't really
- 4:27Speaker 5: what was set, you.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Know what I mean, we call that the Frank and Eda.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I think I learned that from how their money produced
- 4:32Speaker 2: the stars. The Frank can edit where you see. I mean,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I remember my season in The Bachelor when they you
- 4:37Speaker 2: know that I was the kissing bandit right, allegedly, So
- 4:41Speaker 2: what they did I'll never forget in the first episode
- 4:43Speaker 2: of my show was that, like, you know, this season
- 4:44Speaker 2: on The Bachelor, and it looked like it was the
- 4:46Speaker 2: same night me making out with absolutely everyone in the
- 4:49Speaker 2: cast not gonna be wrong or not gonna be dishonest
- 4:53Speaker 2: kind of happened, but it wasn't on the same night,
- 4:56Speaker 2: Like I had a different tie on, right, But you
- 4:57Speaker 2: don't even notice that, right. But it's like, you know,
- 4:59Speaker 2: the way they they present it is, you know, to
- 5:02Speaker 2: create drama, in which I still think the Bachelor producers
- 5:05Speaker 2: are wonderful at producing drama, right, I mean, I don't
- 5:07Speaker 2: think there's very few that are better at it. But
- 5:10Speaker 2: I think that maybe the formatting of it I mean,
- 5:12Speaker 2: what would you say, Alana from being your producer, mindset
- 5:15Speaker 2: and your history as a producer on the show, and
- 5:18Speaker 2: just in general, do you think they need to rethink
- 5:20Speaker 2: how they're presenting the show?
- 5:21Speaker 1: Well, I think it takes too long.
- 5:23Speaker 6: It's just such a long process and it's outdated with
- 5:27Speaker 6: the shooting schedule, the editing, and then when they finally
- 5:29Speaker 6: put it out. When you think about shows like Love Island,
- 5:32Speaker 6: it's like boom, boom boom. And I don't even watch
- 5:34Speaker 6: Love Island, but I know that it airs pretty quickly.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very there's something.
- 5:40Speaker 6: I mean, it's really great because now the way people
- 5:43Speaker 6: consume content, it's like immediate. Everyone wants immediate gratification. And
- 5:48Speaker 6: so Love Island is so great because it's happening now
- 5:50Speaker 6: and then you're able to see the fallout on social
- 5:53Speaker 6: media and all of that. Whereas The Bachelor it's like
- 5:56Speaker 6: they film it and then no one can talk about
- 5:58Speaker 6: anything while they're waiting for it to air, and even
- 6:02Speaker 6: when it does air and we're going to talk about
- 6:04Speaker 6: this later, you can't talk about anything even after it
- 6:08Speaker 6: airs because you're under such tight, ironclad you know, and.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Then you know the agreements of that nature.
- 6:13Speaker 1: You need to like loosen up. And certain people like
- 6:17Speaker 1: me when I was the villain. There's certain people that
- 6:21Speaker 1: they do let talk, and then there's some that they silence.
- 6:24Speaker 6: They let the people like the Disney princesses so to speak,
- 6:28Speaker 6: talk like the people who are like, you know, they're safe.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, But I.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Mean, I do think there's probably a little bit of
- 6:35Speaker 2: a double standard there. But it's not just the villains
- 6:38Speaker 2: that aren't allowed to talk. I mean I was, I
- 6:40Speaker 2: was the lead of a very successful season and I
- 6:43Speaker 2: had some legal wrangling with the Batcher folks. Yeah, so
- 6:47Speaker 2: we can talk about that too. Yeah, a lot more
- 6:49Speaker 2: than that, sister, So we talk about this. She's All Batch, right,
- 6:52Speaker 2: That She's All Batched podcast just came out recently and
- 6:55Speaker 2: she was served with a seasoned decist from what I
- 6:57Speaker 2: understand or something of that nature about the fact that
- 6:59Speaker 2: she is allegedly leading people into breaking their NDAs by
- 7:04Speaker 2: sharing information. So on She's All Batched podcast with Stephanie,
- 7:08Speaker 2: she recently received a letter from I would guess the
- 7:11Speaker 2: ABC legal or something of that nature, stating that she
- 7:15Speaker 2: needed to stop basically booking guests that were not going
- 7:20Speaker 2: through the proper channels, which would mean being vetted through
- 7:22Speaker 2: the publicity team at ABC. Right, and who knows, maybe
- 7:27Speaker 2: this was born out of the Mel deal right where
- 7:29Speaker 2: Mel went on and did a podcast right when he
- 7:31Speaker 2: was the Golden Bacheler guy and just blew up his
- 7:33Speaker 2: whole season right before it went live. If you're thinking
- 7:36Speaker 2: about it as a host of the show, you don't
- 7:38Speaker 2: do anything wrong. I mean, at the end of the day,
- 7:40Speaker 2: it's the individual who signed the contracts responsibility to manage
- 7:45Speaker 2: their lives, right, Stephanie can't manage their lives for them. Like,
- 7:48Speaker 2: at the end of the day, you know what you're
- 7:49Speaker 2: allowed to say and what you're not allowed to say it.
- 7:50Speaker 2: If you decide to say it, that's on you.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Also, not the first time ABC has done this. I'm
- 7:55Speaker 6: pretty sure that they did this surreality Steve as.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Well along there.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that he ended.
- 8:00Speaker 6: Up settling and it never went to court. But yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 6: they've done this before.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think it's grasping at straws to
- 8:07Speaker 2: a certain degree, you know, I mean, at a certain point,
- 8:09Speaker 2: it's like, if you see what's happening on the other shows,
- 8:12Speaker 2: they're encouraging these people to get out there as much
- 8:14Speaker 2: as humanly possible, right, because no press is bad press, right,
- 8:18Speaker 2: All press is good press.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:19Speaker 2: But Courtney, I mean, I know you had an experience
- 8:22Speaker 2: where they wanted to kind of keep you quiet.
- 8:24Speaker 3: What was that?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah? For sure, Well, I wrote a book. I didn't
- 8:27Speaker 1: come here to make friends, and that talk about getting
- 8:30Speaker 1: the call from Warner Brothers like Burtney, we just saw
- 8:33Speaker 1: you on any news doing your book. You know, photo shoot,
- 8:36Speaker 1: we're getting ready to send you a cease and desist.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Doesn't feel good. That does not feel good. But that's
- 8:42Speaker 1: a story for another time. So luckily I was able
- 8:44Speaker 1: to do that, but I had to jump through so
- 8:47Speaker 1: many who Yeah, when I came off my season, Twitter
- 8:51Speaker 1: had just kind of become a thing. Instagram had just started. Yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and we weren't allowed to have any of that. I
- 8:58Speaker 1: don't know if did they make you shuit down your
- 9:00Speaker 1: social media when you were filming Zach season?
- 9:02Speaker 5: Yeah you have to go like private, Yeah yeah, can't
- 9:06Speaker 5: open up and chill.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so I was so mad. I like, finally
- 9:10Speaker 1: I got on Twitter, and then that felt good because
- 9:11Speaker 1: I could talk. I got opportunities to go on talk shows,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and you have to get it approved. Every opportunity I
- 9:19Speaker 1: got was denied, Yeah, denied, denied. I got really amazing
- 9:24Speaker 1: opportunities and money making opportunities. So they just I think
- 9:28Speaker 1: it's because I'm that person who's just I'll just say whatever,
- 9:31Speaker 1: right and wild card. But it's so hard because like
- 9:34Speaker 1: the girl, the runner up that I'm friends with, Lindsay,
- 9:37Speaker 1: she went and did Good Morning America. Yeah, she went
- 9:39Speaker 1: and did the rounds and they silenced me. So now
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm in good standing with the ABC and to kind
- 9:46Speaker 1: of walk it back to how we started, like the show,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and you touched on it, the fact that they like,
- 9:51Speaker 1: don't let they're not keeping up with the times, Like
- 9:54Speaker 1: look at all these elevated shows. I spent weeks renovating
- 9:58Speaker 1: the Bachelor Mansion takeover for Taylor Frankie Paul's season because
- 10:03Speaker 1: that place, Bob, you know, that place needed a facelift.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And so I think that they were taking the steps
- 10:09Speaker 1: to elevate, you know, to make it in competition with
- 10:13Speaker 1: like Love Island and all that sort of thing. But
- 10:18Speaker 1: I mean they had to go back and edit that
- 10:20Speaker 1: show because they canceled Taylor's and we had we've been
- 10:23Speaker 1: saying like, oh, we're gonna We're gonna fix this mansion
- 10:25Speaker 1: up for Taylor Frankie Paul and then they you know,
- 10:39Speaker 1: touching on Stephanie Parker. She is in like she was
- 10:44Speaker 1: getting the screeners for Taylor Frankie Paul's season. Mel and
- 10:47Speaker 1: Peg went on and was approved. So this is how
- 10:50Speaker 1: it started. And then they reached back out to come
- 10:52Speaker 1: back on and she interviewed them again, so ABC approved
- 10:56Speaker 1: them for Stephanie Parker. She's all batch. So what happened
- 11:01Speaker 1: was that she did a pretty explosive interview with Sam
- 11:03Speaker 1: McKinney and a couple other people as well. But they've
- 11:08Speaker 1: tried to silence Sam. And Sam McKinney was on on
- 11:10Speaker 1: my show, The Bachelor Mansion Takeover. We have talked offline,
- 11:13Speaker 1: so I can't speak too much to that, but he
- 11:16Speaker 1: was in Paradise and he's with a cup of Joe.
- 11:19Speaker 1: What's her name, cupa Joe? Oh yeah, and they have
- 11:23Speaker 1: silenced him a contract now. So that's what pissed ABC off.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And it's not like her inciting them to like they
- 11:35Speaker 1: will all want to come on. They're willingly going.
- 11:37Speaker 2: On and they want to talk about their experience because
- 11:39Speaker 2: they want, you know, they I mean, I think we
- 11:41Speaker 2: all love to talk about it, like it was such
- 11:43Speaker 2: a fun and unique experience and experience.
- 11:47Speaker 1: So like they had they just approved Hannah Brown. She
- 11:49Speaker 1: just did an amazing They reached out to Stephanie Parker,
- 11:52Speaker 1: she just had Hannah Brown on to promote her book.
- 11:55Speaker 6: But it's also not her responsibility. She doesn't work for ABC,
- 11:59Speaker 6: she never signed anything, so it's not she's all batch.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It's not her responsibility to people.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It's also I think I think it's you know, for example,
- 12:09Speaker 2: with iHeart, like, you know, I know, our producers reach
- 12:11Speaker 2: out and go through the proper channels, right, But at
- 12:13Speaker 2: the same time, when you're somebody who started your own
- 12:15Speaker 2: podcast and you're not through a network and you're you know,
- 12:18Speaker 2: you're looking to get guests on your show, again, not
- 12:21Speaker 2: her problem. Yeah, I mean, if she wants to be
- 12:23Speaker 2: the first person to have those opportunities and people who
- 12:25Speaker 2: have been on those shows, then she would go through
- 12:27Speaker 2: those proper channels and do whatever she has to do.
- 12:29Speaker 2: But in her mind, she's like, well, I'll interview people
- 12:31Speaker 2: who've been on twenty years ago, people have been on
- 12:32Speaker 2: five years ago.
- 12:32Speaker 3: It doesn't matter to me. Five minutes ago, the talk yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Also, you know, she she blasted him. I'm so proud
- 12:37Speaker 1: of her. She did a whole episode she read the
- 12:39Speaker 1: letter and basically broke it down for everybody, and she's like,
- 12:44Speaker 1: maybe I won't cover it. Like it's like you said,
- 12:46Speaker 1: all press is good. Yeah, she's promoting the show that
- 12:49Speaker 1: isn't dying read.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 2: So a lot with your experience, I mean, you're a
- 12:54Speaker 2: producer obviously formerly the Bachelor.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I got a lot of a lot of avenues to
- 12:58Speaker 3: go on with you.
- 12:59Speaker 2: But first and four or most, what are your thoughts
- 13:01Speaker 2: on why things are declining as quickly as they are,
- 13:04Speaker 2: I mean, other than the fact that there's a lot
- 13:06Speaker 2: of competition, right.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Yeah, I was thinking about this recently. So one of
- 13:09Speaker 6: the what I think, in my opinion, one of the
- 13:11Speaker 6: best seasons of Bachelor.
- 13:13Speaker 3: In Paradise besides oh yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Besides where you on it?
- 13:17Speaker 3: No, no, god, no, okay.
- 13:20Speaker 6: One of I think one of the most entertaining seasons,
- 13:22Speaker 6: and the season that actually made me want to work
- 13:24Speaker 6: on the show in general, was the one with Blake
- 13:26Speaker 6: Horseman and all that stuff happening, and they had the
- 13:28Speaker 6: drama happening from.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Stage coaches, right, I remember that?
- 13:31Speaker 6: Yeah, And so something the show goes against is when
- 13:36Speaker 6: they bring casts, when they bring cast members on previous contestants,
- 13:40Speaker 6: they're against them having previous relationships before the show airs,
- 13:46Speaker 6: and I think that really works against them and works
- 13:48Speaker 6: against the show, makes it less entertaining. Because Heather and
- 13:51Speaker 6: I are actually talking about this the other day, like,
- 13:54Speaker 6: if you think about this is a totally different franchise,
- 13:57Speaker 6: but the Real Housewives. Right now, I'm rewatching The Real
- 14:00Speaker 6: Housewives of New York season one, and the thing that's
- 14:03Speaker 6: so amazing about that show makes it such good television
- 14:07Speaker 6: is that these women all have real relationships outside of airing.
- 14:11Speaker 6: So when dramas happening, you just really believe it and
- 14:14Speaker 6: you buy into it so much.
- 14:16Speaker 3: More well, and you feel the baggage.
- 14:19Speaker 2: I mean, that's really what it is, right, I Mean,
- 14:20Speaker 2: nine times out of ten, when things come to a head,
- 14:22Speaker 2: it's not even about that particular thing that just came
- 14:25Speaker 2: to ahead. It's about so much other shit that hasn't
- 14:27Speaker 2: been talked about yet, and you see that in those relationships.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I agree, Like I think I remember that season. I
- 14:31Speaker 2: actually remember the drama around the entire thing, because that
- 14:34Speaker 2: was right when we started doing a lot more of
- 14:36Speaker 2: the iHeart stuff at that time, and I got to
- 14:40Speaker 2: know those guys a lot better. I heard all about
- 14:42Speaker 2: the stagecoach drama, right, so I was kind of in
- 14:43Speaker 2: the middle of it all going wait, what why wasn't
- 14:45Speaker 2: I invited? And that was that was another you know,
- 14:47Speaker 2: another question for another day, just kidding before it wise,
- 14:50Speaker 2: I was like, this is crazy, like what do we
- 14:52Speaker 2: you know? And then when it unfolded on the show,
- 14:54Speaker 2: or to a certain degree, you saw it, but you
- 14:56Speaker 2: didn't get to see as much of the backstory that
- 14:57Speaker 2: would have made it more interesting for people to dig into.
- 15:00Speaker 2: You got to hear a little bit about it right
- 15:02Speaker 2: just in passing, but you didn't really get the real
- 15:04Speaker 2: the meaning.
- 15:05Speaker 6: That's why I think the biggest problem is just how
- 15:08Speaker 6: much control they feel like they need over everybody and everything.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And if they could loosen that up.
- 15:16Speaker 6: A bit and just let people live out whatever is
- 15:20Speaker 6: happening from what they experienced on the show, they would
- 15:23Speaker 6: end up getting much better stories like they did because
- 15:28Speaker 6: of the stage coach thing. You know what, if they
- 15:32Speaker 6: did a new season and instead of just getting an
- 15:34Speaker 6: entirely new group of contestants, they wrangled previous contestants that
- 15:40Speaker 6: have been on Bachelor and Paradise or other seasons and
- 15:43Speaker 6: brought everyone back. Because it's people that the audience already loves,
- 15:47Speaker 6: they follow them.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think that's why people like Bachelor mentioned takeover, because
- 15:51Speaker 1: they got to see past contestants. I think that's a
- 15:54Speaker 1: great idea. Yeah, sure we didn't.
- 15:58Speaker 5: They do like Winter Games and they brought together and stuff,
- 16:01Speaker 5: but yeah, what happened to that?
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yeah, no one watched. The ratings are really low.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I mean, Bachelor of Paradise has almost become more of
- 16:06Speaker 2: the staple of the franchise, I think, more than the
- 16:09Speaker 2: actual Bachelor or the bachelorise is so great.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I loved Paradise as a viewer before, but then they
- 16:14Speaker 1: added the element of like the cash, it was so
- 16:17Speaker 1: disjointed and I didn't want to well.
- 16:19Speaker 2: You know, it's still like it became for lover, money
- 16:22Speaker 2: meets f boy Island meets everything.
- 16:25Speaker 3: It's like they were just chasing it, you know, and
- 16:26Speaker 3: I think too much.
- 16:27Speaker 5: And they brought in a new camera crew, like I
- 16:29Speaker 5: feel like that that was.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was more Yeah, and I don't did it.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I don't think it did well. Did it.
- 16:38Speaker 3: I don't think like.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Even with the money aspect, even with the new editing and.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Stuff like that.
- 16:42Speaker 2: And I would say this too, I feel like, if
- 16:44Speaker 2: you're going to do that, I almost feel like, do
- 16:46Speaker 2: its own, do its own version of it, right, like
- 16:50Speaker 2: kind of trying to cross pollinate those two shows on
- 16:52Speaker 2: Bachelor and Paradise did not mention it.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it didn't work for me.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I'm like, and I love Kathy, and I love you know, Gonzo,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and I love everyone that's on there.
- 16:59Speaker 3: But I'm like, like, guys, like, come on, like, what
- 17:02Speaker 3: is going on here?
- 17:02Speaker 2: You know? And then when the young guy what is
- 17:06Speaker 2: his name, Jonathan, you know, got the got the rose
- 17:10Speaker 2: from Yeah, and it's like.
- 17:11Speaker 3: The Hell's going on? I don't know.
- 17:13Speaker 2: It just became like such a cluster for me. I
- 17:14Speaker 2: couldn't even follow it. But so a lot of let's
- 17:17Speaker 2: talk about this too. There's been a lot of conversation about,
- 17:20Speaker 2: of course, producers and their interactions with the show, right
- 17:23Speaker 2: And I know that I know that lions can get
- 17:26Speaker 2: blurry from a production perspective. I mean, friendships obviously form,
- 17:29Speaker 2: you know, I mean, I'm still friends with a few
- 17:31Speaker 2: of the producer producers from my season, but most recently
- 17:35Speaker 2: obviously a book was written about Peter Webber's season and
- 17:37Speaker 2: the producer on that.
- 17:39Speaker 6: What do you think about that, Bob, I don't think
- 17:44Speaker 6: you know my story. I don't know, probably not.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Let's hear it.
- 17:48Speaker 6: Oh, I won't get into a whole story, but I
- 17:50Speaker 6: was dating a producer on the show while I was
- 17:52Speaker 6: on the show and he actually curse. Yeah, he's a
- 17:57Speaker 6: bunch of Bachelor condescens. My well we're together and after
- 18:01Speaker 6: but anyway, yeah, yeah, this is not what's new. And
- 18:07Speaker 6: what's different about her story is it's a woman that
- 18:12Speaker 6: slept with a male contestant, where usually it's the male
- 18:16Speaker 6: producer sleeping. And if you don't one of my favorite
- 18:19Speaker 6: I wasn't. I probably was in high school. Don't even
- 18:21Speaker 6: know when this episode came out, But one of my
- 18:23Speaker 6: favorite things from Bachelor in Paradise is when the audio
- 18:26Speaker 6: guy left with the girl and then they recreated it
- 18:29Speaker 6: because he like had to. The audio guy was sleeping
- 18:33Speaker 6: with a contestant on Bachelor in Paradise and then they
- 18:36Speaker 6: found out and he jumped off.
- 18:38Speaker 3: A balcony didn't break a leg.
- 18:43Speaker 1: It was so funny.
- 18:45Speaker 6: It's happening. I mean, you we all know that ian
- 18:48Speaker 6: happens on every show.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Time men and women have been sleeping.
- 18:55Speaker 5: No, I'm actually like, obviously I won't say the name,
- 18:58Speaker 5: but I obviously know who it is.
- 18:59Speaker 1: And that's just crazy. Yes, and like us to think.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Like that was happening behind closed doors is insane to
- 19:06Speaker 5: me because it's like, you come in, you're so vulnerable
- 19:10Speaker 5: as a contestant, you've never been on TV before and
- 19:12Speaker 5: they know that, right, So like for him, that's very
- 19:15Speaker 5: manipulative for him exactly because we look to you guys
- 19:19Speaker 5: as like companions.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Is like we look you are it for us.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Being a reality producer is a very tough job, right,
- 19:26Speaker 2: because you do in theory, your job is to get.
- 19:30Speaker 3: People to trust you.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 19:31Speaker 2: People who are vulnerable are who are nervous, who are
- 19:35Speaker 2: willing to expose things about themselves and say things about
- 19:38Speaker 2: themselves that could be very you know, it could cause
- 19:41Speaker 2: them some problems, right with family, friends, whatever it is,
- 19:44Speaker 2: And your job is to encourage that, to get that out.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Of them and then to them to make them feel
- 19:49Speaker 3: like they should do it.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Well.
- 19:51Speaker 6: A lot of people don't realize is you have a
- 19:53Speaker 6: boss as a producer. Yeah, And there's a pecking order
- 19:56Speaker 6: and sometimes your boss comes to you, and in entertain
- 20:00Speaker 6: industry it's very cut through. If you don't do your job,
- 20:02Speaker 6: there's twenty people waiting to take it. So someone comes
- 20:06Speaker 6: to you and they're like, this is what we need
- 20:08Speaker 6: and you need to do this, and then you have
- 20:10Speaker 6: to do that, and then the producer is the one
- 20:12Speaker 6: that gets like, but it's it comes.
- 20:14Speaker 3: From above above. Yeah, you know, yeah, a lot of times.
- 20:18Speaker 3: And I think it's a lot of pressure.
- 20:19Speaker 1: It's a lot of pressure.
- 20:20Speaker 6: But for Julie, well, what's what do I think? There's
- 20:23Speaker 6: a lot of things that I think. So you've got
- 20:25Speaker 6: to be specific about all right.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Do you think that it was right for her to
- 20:30Speaker 2: put her all in a book without with your bag sweetie?
- 20:34Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:34Speaker 2: I mean out running it past the dude she tried
- 20:38Speaker 2: she did, he said, I don't want you to do it.
- 20:40Speaker 6: The stories are conflicting between Peter and Julie from how
- 20:44Speaker 6: it sounds where she said she tried to send him
- 20:47Speaker 6: the book. She tried to connect with him and he
- 20:49Speaker 6: didn't respond, So.
- 20:51Speaker 3: He's avoiding her basically.
- 20:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and yeah, so.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And then I wanted to interview her, and then I
- 20:59Speaker 1: started hearing her interviews. I think she was on Ben
- 21:01Speaker 1: and Ashley's and I was a little underwhelmed. I'm not
- 21:04Speaker 1: gonna lie.
- 21:05Speaker 6: Well I heard her and she's all batch yeah, and
- 21:08Speaker 6: it wasn't really.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Spilling any tea. Everybody wanted to know if she slept
- 21:13Speaker 1: with Peter.
- 21:13Speaker 6: I think she says in the book that she slapped
- 21:15Speaker 6: with him one time, but.
- 21:17Speaker 1: She go into details. We want details, she says, it's
- 21:20Speaker 1: just like a Bachelor episode. Oh good, we want the details.
- 21:27Speaker 6: What what's the size?
- 21:34Speaker 3: What does Peter's mom think about it?
- 21:37Speaker 6: Well, she's been very public about what she thinks about it.
- 21:39Speaker 6: She says, like break the NDA, like lift the NDA,
- 21:42Speaker 6: ABC so Peter can speak. I think she's made a
- 21:44Speaker 6: post about that.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah, well, why how long is this NDA? It's perpetrating? Well, now,
- 21:50Speaker 3: if you get sued.
- 21:51Speaker 2: The one thing I was able to win out of
- 21:52Speaker 2: that was my freedom, So you know, mine was much different.
- 21:55Speaker 2: It was back in the early days of The Bachelor,
- 21:57Speaker 2: of course, and they cast me to be the Bachelor
- 21:59Speaker 2: because of Trist's season, but also because I owned a
- 22:03Speaker 2: business and I had a record deal, right, and that
- 22:05Speaker 2: was appealing.
- 22:05Speaker 3: That was like, oh, you know you have this other
- 22:07Speaker 3: live by the way you as a singer too, by.
- 22:10Speaker 1: The way, well through AI.
- 22:11Speaker 6: So we need to hear your music, you told Courtney,
- 22:14Speaker 6: and I had no clue.
- 22:15Speaker 3: We did not know that they silenced me. They did it.
- 22:18Speaker 3: They their mission mission accomplished. Guys.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I too wrote a book, but but I actually ran
- 22:24Speaker 2: the book past the production team first, so I didn't
- 22:26Speaker 2: get any grief over that. But anyway, after I filmed,
- 22:30Speaker 2: after we finished filming trist the season, and then and
- 22:33Speaker 2: so I put my music.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Career on hold for a little while.
- 22:35Speaker 2: And after we did my Bachelor season, my record label
- 22:40Speaker 2: renegotiated my contract with me because I'd been on contract
- 22:43Speaker 2: with them already for the two albums that I owed them.
- 22:45Speaker 3: And the third album was coming out, and.
- 22:49Speaker 2: People that had been you know, affiliate of the show
- 22:53Speaker 2: were excited about it to my face. And then when
- 22:56Speaker 2: I got home, I received a lawsuit for a lot
- 22:59Speaker 2: of money, and I was like, I'm.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Ten million dollars, ten million bucks, and.
- 23:07Speaker 2: So I was terrified, and it was treacherous and it
- 23:12Speaker 2: was horrible, and I had to hire an attorney and
- 23:15Speaker 2: I won the right not to pay ten million dollars.
- 23:17Speaker 3: I'll just put it to you that way.
- 23:18Speaker 2: But I you know, I said it to them at
- 23:20Speaker 2: the time, I was like, sue me for a billion.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I don't have that either, Like what's going on?
- 23:24Speaker 3: And it was it was an obvious.
- 23:26Speaker 2: It was an obvious effort to send a message to
- 23:29Speaker 2: future contestants, Right, well, if they're willing to sue me,
- 23:31Speaker 2: and I was the lead of the show, they'll sue
- 23:33Speaker 2: anybody who's you know, not doing what they think they
- 23:36Speaker 2: should be doing. But the problem was and the reason
- 23:38Speaker 2: why I was not you know, I still had a
- 23:42Speaker 2: lot of issues with it from for example, I had
- 23:45Speaker 2: to pay my own legal bills and my record got
- 23:48Speaker 2: pulled off the shelves, and there's a lot that happened
- 23:50Speaker 2: with that, and I actually ended up losing my deal
- 23:52Speaker 2: over it, which was a bummer.
- 23:54Speaker 3: But one of the things that came is I'm at peace.
- 23:57Speaker 2: But one of the things that came as the result
- 23:59Speaker 2: of it was and you know, the courts basically said,
- 24:03Speaker 2: you know, you can't stop someone from doing what they
- 24:06Speaker 2: were doing for a living prior to coming on this
- 24:10Speaker 2: show just because they came on the show, right, Like
- 24:12Speaker 2: I wasn't asking to go and do promotional rounds for
- 24:14Speaker 2: the next six months, right, But because the season was
- 24:18Speaker 2: really successful.
- 24:19Speaker 3: I was just constantly out there and.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Long story short, it is a big reason why I'm
- 24:25Speaker 2: affiliated with iHeart today is because of Amy Sugarman and
- 24:27Speaker 2: some things that I love about her. That she was
- 24:30Speaker 2: willing to take some chances for me in situations that
- 24:33Speaker 2: meant a lot to me. And so you know, from
- 24:35Speaker 2: that perspective, you know, it's like you come out of
- 24:37Speaker 2: that thing thinking everyone's your best friend, and you know,
- 24:40Speaker 2: then you realize your commodity, right. And I used to
- 24:42Speaker 2: say it to all the guys and I and you know,
- 24:45Speaker 2: this never makes it to air for anything, but they
- 24:47Speaker 2: would always the would ask me to talk to the
- 24:49Speaker 2: new bachelor's and my thing with the new bachelors that
- 24:51Speaker 2: I'd always go, Guys, I get it. You're America's most
- 24:55Speaker 2: desirable bachelor, right, You're a personal chain of living in
- 24:58Speaker 2: your mom's basement. Let's be honest. And at the end
- 25:01Speaker 2: of the day, at the end of the day, it's
- 25:02Speaker 2: not about you, bro, It's about thirty smoke shows out
- 25:05Speaker 2: there who are alpha women who have never lost to
- 25:07Speaker 2: another woman in their lives. And you're a monkey hand
- 25:10Speaker 2: and out of flower. And if you don't give them
- 25:11Speaker 2: a flower, they're gonna cry. Yeah, I'm not crying because
- 25:13Speaker 2: of you. They're crying because they just lost to her.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:15Speaker 2: I'm like, if you get over yourself and you think
- 25:17Speaker 2: about it, and that's but that's how I viewed The Bachelor.
- 25:19Speaker 3: For me, I kind of viewed it like then as
- 25:22Speaker 3: I was doing it, but I really.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Viewed it like that afterwards, when I thought about it
- 25:25Speaker 2: and got over myself for five minutes, you know.
- 25:27Speaker 3: But it was it was a really humbling experience going
- 25:29Speaker 3: through that.
- 25:30Speaker 2: And you know, you can you can speak to that
- 25:32Speaker 2: knowing when you have people barking up your tree that
- 25:34Speaker 2: you thought were your friends and you're.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It's one of those things.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they'll be your best friend.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah, until they're not hard for a lot of contest.
- 25:42Speaker 2: So well, I will say this, you know, hopefully, hopefully
- 25:45Speaker 2: those experiences you know, that we've had that weren't great.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I mean, I still love the franchise, obviously, I talk
- 25:50Speaker 2: about it on a weekly basis or a monthly basis.
- 25:53Speaker 2: However many times I'm potting, but uh, you know, at
- 25:56Speaker 2: the end of the day, it's like I love the
- 25:57Speaker 2: people that I knew that were filling with the show,
- 25:59Speaker 2: that are still my friends to this day. Made tons
- 26:01Speaker 2: of friends with the guys on Tristas season. Still very
- 26:04Speaker 2: friendly with a lot of the women from my season,
- 26:06Speaker 2: even my final two, which is which is nice.
- 26:10Speaker 3: We've had them on the show. We' found him on
- 26:11Speaker 3: the ogs.
- 26:12Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, it's like it
- 26:14Speaker 2: is what you make it, right, So if you choose
- 26:15Speaker 2: to turn it into a positive, and you choose to
- 26:18Speaker 2: really you know, and I didn't have a great fortune
- 26:20Speaker 2: of meeting you know, my forever love on the show
- 26:22Speaker 2: like you did, which I think is awesome.
- 26:23Speaker 3: You know, that's that's the real success of the show.
- 26:26Speaker 6: So and she's married now.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I flashed my rings, but I went to.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Say something real quick, of course, okay, because I remember,
- 26:35Speaker 6: And then I want to bring it back to Julie
- 26:36Speaker 6: because there's something I wanted to say about that whole thing.
- 26:39Speaker 6: But I remember Katie meeting you for the first time,
- 26:42Speaker 6: and I remember thinking like, this is a real bitch.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 26:45Speaker 1: When I left.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Your hotel room, I was like, this girl is for real,
- 26:49Speaker 6: truly for real. And now you guys are It's so crazy,
- 26:52Speaker 6: isn't it crazy?
- 26:53Speaker 3: No?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Zat nice.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Still like every month there's always a conversation, We're like,
- 26:58Speaker 5: holy yeah, like we were on a TV show. We
- 27:01Speaker 5: got engaged, we're a success story. We actually love each
- 27:04Speaker 5: other so much. Yeah, it's crazy and it's chill. No,
- 27:08Speaker 5: it's for real.
- 27:19Speaker 2: You know. I'll say this about Tristan Ryan. It's one
- 27:21Speaker 2: of the things because I love I love them as
- 27:23Speaker 2: a couple, and one of the things I thought they
- 27:25Speaker 2: did very well, which you know, you and Triesta should
- 27:28Speaker 2: talk because I think you probably you know, it could
- 27:30Speaker 2: help inform some of that, or maybe talk to Ryan
- 27:32Speaker 2: even too, because Ryan's pretty awesome dude to talk to.
- 27:35Speaker 2: But I think one of the things they did very
- 27:36Speaker 2: well was put their relationship first ahead of the show fluff, right,
- 27:40Speaker 2: Like they were never kind of so enamored with the
- 27:43Speaker 2: show stuff that they forgot what they were trying to
- 27:45Speaker 2: accomplish behind the scenes. And I think that's a big deal,
- 27:47Speaker 2: you know. But anyway, Yes, I want to go back
- 27:49Speaker 2: to LaPlaca.
- 27:50Speaker 6: So one thing about LaPlaca. Yeah, it's very clear that
- 27:56Speaker 6: she's still in bed with the producers.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Okay, I want to where we're going with that.
- 28:00Speaker 6: You know, because you were talking about being hit with
- 28:02Speaker 6: a lawsuit and all that. She clearly is not because
- 28:05Speaker 6: everything I mean from my point of view, and I
- 28:07Speaker 6: haven't looked too much into it, but it seems very
- 28:10Speaker 6: clear that.
- 28:10Speaker 1: She's still They're good.
- 28:13Speaker 6: One thing I do want to say about her is
- 28:17Speaker 6: I remember, because so I didn't work on this show
- 28:20Speaker 6: at the time, when it came out in the press
- 28:23Speaker 6: that her and Peter were canoodling and there was that
- 28:26Speaker 6: viral photo of them on New Year's Eve, but I
- 28:29Speaker 6: remember seeing it, and I remember, like the chatter online
- 28:34Speaker 6: was very positive towards her, and everyone loved her, and
- 28:38Speaker 6: everyone wanted them to be together and they were shipping
- 28:42Speaker 6: that relationship. Now everyone hates her, thinks she's insane. Okay,
- 28:49Speaker 6: they think I'm insane too, and I am good, but
- 28:52Speaker 6: you know whatever, And they think she's crazy and that
- 28:55Speaker 6: she's making things up. And I think that's interesting because
- 28:58Speaker 6: I remember not when that happened, everyone loved her, So
- 29:01Speaker 6: why suddenly is everyone like painting on her.
- 29:05Speaker 2: That's a fickle world out there in reality television.
- 29:07Speaker 3: You know, you go from you can go from reality television, no,
- 29:11Speaker 3: I know.
- 29:11Speaker 2: But having the affiliation with it, I guess, and writing
- 29:13Speaker 2: the book, you know what I mean, the whole world
- 29:15Speaker 2: around it that I do.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Want to touch on is that she talked about the
- 29:18Speaker 1: bonuses as a producer. I've heard this. There's a myth
- 29:21Speaker 1: for years. You know, when you get a good sound
- 29:23Speaker 1: bite like maybe me same winning and then they play
- 29:26Speaker 1: it over and over and over. But I've heard, and
- 29:29Speaker 1: maybe you could speak to this, that they producers will
- 29:32Speaker 1: the market, they see who was doing the interview, and
- 29:35Speaker 1: that they will get bonuses.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Really, if it goes viral, that's interesting.
- 29:39Speaker 1: If it's good, it's part of the storyline. But in
- 29:42Speaker 1: her book She Met, she said in her interviews, actually
- 29:46Speaker 1: it might have been on She's a well bat, but
- 29:47Speaker 1: that that doesn't exist. It exists.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Oh, we got it.
- 29:52Speaker 6: And actually someone stills me and Venmo and he knows
- 29:55Speaker 6: who he is.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Screenshot that, Yeah, say.
- 29:58Speaker 1: That from my season.
- 30:00Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 30:00Speaker 1: They mark the tape and then that's why sometimes the
