- 0:01Speaker 1: And it's so easy when you're evil. This is the
- 0:05Speaker 1: life you see. The devil tips his hat to me.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I do it all because I'm evil. And I do it.
- 0:13Speaker 3: All for free. Your tears are all the pay I'll
- 0:18Speaker 3: ever need.
- 0:21Speaker 2: So, obviously, we need to get to our holiday-themed movie threat,
- 0:25Speaker 2: which I didn't... Actually, I have seen things out in
- 0:30Speaker 2: the real world lately, but they weren't holiday themed. But
- 0:33Speaker 2: I've stored them away, so we have some new ridiculous
- 0:36Speaker 2: things I've come across lately that will be our upcoming
- 0:38Speaker 2: movie threats. This one came from when I finished our
- 0:42Speaker 2: movie of the week. This week, it popped up as
- 0:44Speaker 2: the next suggestion. Christmas Evil.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I got that suggestion too.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I assumed we watched it on the same free because
- 0:52Speaker 2: nobody wants to pay for the movie we had to watch.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I did not pay a damn. Thankfully.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But that aside. And I still feel like I'm owed
- 0:58Speaker 1: a refund.
- 0:58Speaker 2: We'll get to that later. But then I watched. I
- 1:01Speaker 2: was like, huh. I know the title. I know the
- 1:04Speaker 2: poster art. I'm like, have I seen this? And then
- 1:07Speaker 2: it said, play trailer. And then I like that about
- 1:10Speaker 2: half of those, when they go, play trailer, it's just
- 1:12Speaker 2: a clip. Yeah. So it's just me watching two minutes
- 1:15Speaker 2: of the movie somewhere in the middle of the movie
- 1:17Speaker 2: that makes absolutely no sense of Christmas Evil. So it's
- 1:22Speaker 2: a movie. Originally titled You Better Watch Out. I like
- 1:27Speaker 2: that we've already burnt that one. I'm like, well, that
- 1:28Speaker 2: could have been an entirely different horror Christmas thing. It
- 1:33Speaker 2: looks relatively low budget. But, you know, it's the kind
- 1:39Speaker 2: of thing somebody could force us to watch. Let's see.
- 1:43Speaker 2: The plot, according to IMDb, says, A toy factory worker
- 1:47Speaker 2: mentally scarred as a child upon learning Santa Claus... Oh,
- 1:50Speaker 2: spoilers for life. Santa Claus is not real.
- 1:53Speaker 3: What?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Suffers a nervous breakdown after being belittled at work and
- 1:57Speaker 2: embarks on a Yuletide killing spree.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Isn't that like... Very similar to what happened in.
- 2:04Speaker 1: No, this is completely different.
- 2:05Speaker 2: From what we watched. Yeah. So, I mean, you know,
- 2:12Speaker 2: we don't have to watch that one. The point is,
- 2:14Speaker 2: you can suggest a movie better than this one, and
- 2:17Speaker 2: we can watch it any time throughout the year, or
- 2:20Speaker 2: we'll be back next Christmas to watch more.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Or, as I always say, you can go the other
- 2:24Speaker 1: route and make us watch something even worse.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I don't know, that looked pretty rough, but... I'm sure
- 2:30Speaker 2: there's terrible, terrible things out there.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Oh, I just now got the title Christmas Evil. Very
- 2:37Speaker 1: weird when you guys were talking about me being on
- 2:40Speaker 1: the spectrum.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I mean, we haven't gotten a test back yet. Speaking
- 2:47Speaker 2: of people that say ridiculous things, we also say a
- 2:50Speaker 2: lot of ridiculous things like this.
- 2:54Speaker 1: When you think of Bugs Bunny, do you think of
- 2:56Speaker 1: Space Jam?
- 2:58Speaker 2: You do what you need to do.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Just use a P.O. box. They don't know your address.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You're safe with OnlyFans.
- 3:05Speaker 3: You're safe with guys that would pay money to see
- 3:07Speaker 3: your feet.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. Those guys are fine.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I don't know where to go with that.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I do. There is a level of self-indulgence here that
- 3:18Speaker 2: I cannot get on board with.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Are you making this up? I don't know that that's
- 3:26Speaker 2: a real thing.
- 3:26Speaker 3: It was one of the most low-budget movies I've ever seen.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I'm saying something for this show.
- 3:33Speaker 3: What annoys me so much about that, I mean, aside
- 3:36Speaker 3: from all of the obvious things, is just that.
- 3:40Speaker 3: The little brother wasn't in like any of those scenes.
- 3:45Speaker 3: So how would you know?
- 3:46Speaker 1: I don't even remember there being a little brother.
- 3:47Speaker 2: That's what I don't get. Cause they even cut to like,
- 3:50Speaker 2: he's having the flashback and I'm like, but the kid
- 3:54Speaker 2: watching what's happening that was traumatized is your brother. Not you.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You're in the back of the car that can't see
- 4:01Speaker 2: a damn thing. Not being traumatized right now.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And I think also a baby. Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 2: He was in a car seat in the back of
- 4:09Speaker 2: the car.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And it's about two cops who are looking for a
- 4:14Speaker 1: missing teenage girl. And they start asking around, have you
- 4:17Speaker 1: seen this girl?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 1: She's hanging out with Charlie.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Charlie who?
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh, Charlie Manson.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Oh.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So it takes, as a jumping off point, it takes
- 4:25Speaker 1: several things.
- 4:28Speaker 2: What if you were trapped in the post-apocalyptic world with
- 4:31Speaker 2: your in-laws? That's very strange. I don't like.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Well, see, that's the thing.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I watched it at the time. I liked it. And
- 4:39Speaker 2: I was like, it was fine. Like, I liked it
- 4:40Speaker 2: at the time.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah, like, it's fine.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And as time went on, I went, this is not
- 4:44Speaker 2: really a very good show.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I'm trying to, like, remember the plot, but the plot
- 4:50Speaker 3: made very little sense, and I don't think really mattered anyway.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Like most people we watch on here.
- 4:56Speaker 3: And the tone was so weird.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I assumed he was involved in some sort of crazy
- 5:02Speaker 2: mysteries of the occult and looking for aliens or something. No.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I assume that with everything he does at this point.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Just murder.
- 5:08Speaker 2: He's in some sort of weird rom-com now, too, and
- 5:10Speaker 2: I still feel like at some point aliens are going
- 5:13Speaker 2: to show up.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Man, and I just did not buy Ricky as a
- 5:17Speaker 3: threatening person at all.
- 5:19Speaker 2: He was so.
- 5:20Speaker 3: See?
- 5:21Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I was like, oh, what's happening?
- 5:24Speaker 1: A threat to your fantasy football team. But otherwise.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Even when he was trying to be all into it,
- 5:32Speaker 3: it was.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Like, shut up.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Even when he had a gun.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And then the big climax at the end is that,
- 5:42Speaker 3: you know, all the people who work at this place
- 5:45Speaker 3: are revealed to be in this cult, and they are wearing, like,
- 5:48Speaker 3: the most party city, like, black vampire capes.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Are they plastic?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Like, the really thin fabric that you can see through.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Nice.
- 5:58Speaker 3: And so it's just, like, these, like, middle-aged British people
- 6:02Speaker 3: in normal clothes, but they just have.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Oh, it's British. You left that part out.
- 6:05Speaker 2: This explains a lot more. It's British. Some event has happened.
- 6:11Speaker 2: The world's probably falling apart right now. But we just
- 6:15Speaker 2: have to sort of deal with our situation as it stands.
- 6:20Speaker 1: And then when they got done with those flashbacks, I
- 6:22Speaker 1: was like, well, how do they move this? Oh, there's
- 6:24Speaker 1: more flashbacks.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Well, and then, like, he's so combative with the psychiatrist,
- 6:30Speaker 3: but then his flashback narration voice is so, like, Calm
- 6:34Speaker 3: and peaceful and normal.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It's almost like Morgan Freeman.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Was narrating this movie. Yeah, he's like, Billy, I'm like,
- 6:41Speaker 3: what are you?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Get busy murdering. Get busy dying. And if you're the
- 6:48Speaker 2: kind of person that doesn't know who Thoreau Ravenscroft is,
- 6:53Speaker 2: there's something wrong with your life.
- 6:56Speaker 1: He apparently had to undergo training by the CIA on
- 7:01Speaker 1: how to withstand torture.
- 7:05Speaker 2: But, if reinforced, give yourself a huge backstock of physical media.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Keep physical media around. Because at any moment, the entire
- 7:15Speaker 1: network goes down.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You ain't going to be streaming a damn thing. So,
- 7:20Speaker 2: there you go. That's the real takeaway from this. Buy
- 7:24Speaker 2: more ridiculously old physical media. Sure. And then get a generator,
- 7:29Speaker 2: I guess. Oh, boy.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Brian, that's fantastic. For those of you at home, I
- 7:37Speaker 1: have just been gifted a statue of a dog wearing
- 7:42Speaker 1: a tuxedo, playing the drums, and it is a music box.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And I'd say don't wind it up because I can't
- 7:50Speaker 2: explain the song.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I have no idea what that song is.
- 7:57Speaker 2: See, I forgot it was musical until I got it
- 8:00Speaker 2: back out to give it to you this week. And
- 8:02Speaker 2: then I went, oh yeah, what the hell is it?
- 8:03Speaker 2: And I went, is that Dixie? Is it? I was like,
- 8:10Speaker 2: first of all, no. Second of all, why that?
- 8:15Speaker 3: Totally.
- 8:16Speaker 2: If anything makes no sense. I mean, everything about this
- 8:19Speaker 2: makes no sense. It's a dog playing drums.
- 8:22Speaker 1: That makes no sense to me.
- 8:23Speaker 2: He's also a fancy dog wearing a tuxedo. But then
- 8:27Speaker 2: the music is Dixie. It's the weirdest shit.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I've ever seen. Which is why I love it.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Honestly, this needs to be in Phillip's place.
- 8:38Speaker 1: This is so incredibly detailed. I know.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I was just like, ah, damn it. I would almost
- 8:44Speaker 2: buy it, but then I would feel bad that I
- 8:45Speaker 2: didn't give it to you.
- 8:46Speaker 1: From the wrong angle, though, the dog appears to be
- 8:49Speaker 1: looking into my soul, so.
- 8:51Speaker 2: We're going to keep moving.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I know his face is very, very haunting.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I don't get it, but When does the song stop? Never.
- 9:02Speaker 2: That's the other reason I'd say. Probably never wind it
- 9:04Speaker 2: up again because it might go on for the rest
- 9:07Speaker 2: of your life.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Still going.
- 9:11Speaker 1: If that's not Dixie, it's very close.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It's something that's going to get them sued, except that's
- 9:16Speaker 2: probably public domain.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm sure it is public domain. Which makes me feel
- 9:20Speaker 1: like whatever country this was made in, at the factory,
- 9:25Speaker 1: somebody said, hey, find a song we don't have to
- 9:27Speaker 1: pay for.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Find a free song. And they were like, okay.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I thought it stopped.
- 9:32Speaker 2: It will never stop.
- 9:35Speaker 3: It's slowing down.
- 9:37Speaker 1: He's looking at me again. This is beautiful. I will
- 9:40Speaker 1: treasure this always.
- 9:42Speaker 2: And amazing. And I was like, damn it.
- 9:45Speaker 3: You have to name him.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Ralphus.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Ralphus.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Do I wait or do I open it?
- 9:53Speaker 2: I say go for it. Because I know you have
- 9:56Speaker 2: a book version. But you probably don't have a VHS
- 10:02Speaker 2: copy of the Vovich.
- 10:05Speaker 3: They made that?
- 10:06Speaker 2: That's what I said. Apparently. And then I went looking
- 10:09Speaker 2: and I was like, I think it was a weird
- 10:10Speaker 2: super geek specialized thing. Oh, okay. That it may or
- 10:14Speaker 2: may not have the art. Could just be porn for
- 10:16Speaker 2: all I know. I don't even have a working machine.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And I'm like, I know you don't either, but I'm like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: for a real hardcore collector, I feel like you have
- 10:24Speaker 2: to have that.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I sincerely hope that that cassette is The full six
- 10:30Speaker 1: hours of some guy sitting there going, you're playing this?
- 10:33Speaker 1: You have a VCR?
- 10:34Speaker 2: I can't believe you bought this, you moron. Wow. So,
- 10:39Speaker 2: I don't know where we go from here, but... I.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Think down, actually.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Everything's downhill for this book.
- 10:47Speaker 1: What year did The Vich come out?
- 10:49Speaker 3: 2016? Oh my god.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Pretty recent. Yeah. For VHS, anyway.
- 10:56Speaker 3: There's Black Phillip.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Now I'm just, I want to know what else is
- 11:02Speaker 1: on here.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I want to know if it works, but I don't
- 11:04Speaker 3: have a VHS player.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I mean.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I bet my dad does somewhere.
- 11:10Speaker 2: He probably does.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Well, now I know what to get you for a
- 11:11Speaker 1: wedding present.
- 11:12Speaker 3: That'd be amazing.
- 11:14Speaker 2: It's got duct tape on it.
- 11:15Speaker 1: This was the best.
- 11:17Speaker 2: One I could find.
- 11:19Speaker 3: It cost $ 300. Sadly, at this.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Point, it kind of does.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I saw refurbished VCRs on the Walmart website, and they
- 11:27Speaker 1: were like $ 300 and $ 400.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Because I got excited until I saw the price tag.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So ridiculous. Well, that's what's weird, is they're not cheap
- 11:39Speaker 2: when you find tapes now. I'm shocked when I find one,
- 11:42Speaker 2: because I have bought a few lately, of just dumb nostalgia.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And I'm like, obviously I need a big box version
- 11:49Speaker 2: of American Ninja.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Duh!
- 11:51Speaker 2: I mean, do I have anything to play on? No,
- 11:54Speaker 2: and I wouldn't anyway, because I would eat it, I'm sure. But.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You have so much media that's just not playable.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I have so pointless media. It's so ridiculous.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm waiting for the day I come over and you're like,
- 12:05Speaker 1: look at these floppy disks I bought.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I mean, I have some upstairs. I know. Do you
- 12:11Speaker 2: have any laser disks? Boxes. Laser disks. And the player
- 12:15Speaker 2: still worked last I hooked it up. That was two
- 12:18Speaker 2: moves ago. I have not re-hooked it up since then.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I would because there are things I have that I
- 12:23Speaker 2: haven't seen anywhere else. And I'm like, I would watch
- 12:27Speaker 2: that on Laserdisc.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But do you have any of the old school video
- 12:30Speaker 1: discs that were basically records?
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yes, I do. Only recently. I didn't have any back
- 12:36Speaker 2: in the day. And then lately I've run across one
- 12:38Speaker 2: or two that had different artwork that I've never seen
- 12:42Speaker 2: anywhere else.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Some of the artwork on those are fantastic.
- 12:45Speaker 2: And it was just weird. Again, I'm only kind of
- 12:50Speaker 2: on Bond stuff anyway. But there was like a Dr.
- 12:52Speaker 2: No that I'm like, I've never seen this artwork anywhere.
- 12:55Speaker 2: A million VHS copies, DVD copies, never seen this artwork.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I'm like, all right. I mean, it was like a
- 13:01Speaker 2: couple bucks. I'm like, obviously I need this to sit somewhere.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I don't know where. I can't get to things. Hell,
- 13:07Speaker 2: that's why I can't get to anything else to put
- 13:08Speaker 2: anything up. I'm like, I don't know where that shit is.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It's jammed behind 900 other things. Accumulating things.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It's so detailed.
- 13:21Speaker 3: I mean.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And heavy.
- 13:27Speaker 2: It's hardcore. So go to MovieMeltdown.com and join the Meltdown
- 13:33Speaker 2: Horror Club and give us something to watch that's evil
- 13:36Speaker 2: or enjoyable or somewhere in between.
- 13:39Speaker 1: We'll watch anything.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Somewhere in that spectrum. That's the spectrum we need.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Our standards are low.
- 13:45Speaker 1: We have your standards.
- 13:49Speaker 2: And so are yours. You're listening to this. So thank you.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Join the club. Thank you.
