- 0:10Speaker 1: Hi, this is Doug Bradley, pinhead from the Hellraiser Films.
- 0:13Speaker 1: You're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:14Speaker 2: You better keep listening to Movie Meltdown or I will.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Tear your soul apart.
- 0:27Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:29Speaker 3: Picture Association of America.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:45Speaker 4: It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:26Speaker 4: God's an astronaut. Ours is over the rainbow.
- 1:31Speaker 3: The medium is where the monsters live.
- 1:43Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:45Speaker 5: I am Misty.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm Jake.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:50Speaker 1: the outskirts of Lexington, Kentucky, home of Scarefest.
- 1:53Speaker 5: No, we're still in Lexington, Kentucky.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 1: We're far away from the event, though.
- 1:59Speaker 5: But we're close to the bookstore.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Which is the most important part. Duh. So, it's been
- 2:04Speaker 1: a while. How's it going, guys?
- 2:06Speaker 5: How's it going? How's it going for you, sir?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Over-peopled?
- 2:15Speaker 1: No.
- 2:15Speaker 4: No.
- 2:16Speaker 2: No, I didn't really get bothered by people today.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Just me? No.
- 2:22Speaker 1: No more than usual.
- 2:23Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I feel like this year's gone by really fast.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I know.
- 2:27Speaker 5: What the fuck? It's October already? I know.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I was like, man, it's already Halloween times and time
- 2:33Speaker 1: for Scarefest.
- 2:34Speaker 5: My birthday?
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's always your birthday.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Always, but never, because that way I don't have to
- 2:40Speaker 5: get older.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So, where do we begin on our Scarefest activities?
- 2:45Speaker 5: We waited in line for a long time.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Which is more than I normally do, but for this situation,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I was okay with it.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it was totally, I don't remember, I don't know
- 2:53Speaker 5: how long we actually waited in line.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I feel like it really wasn't as long. I think
- 2:57Speaker 1: I just, I rarely have patience for lines, so I
- 2:59Speaker 1: try not. At this point, I'm like, most people, I'm like, eh,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I don't really need their autograph.
- 3:04Speaker 5: But we made up for it by not waiting in
- 3:06Speaker 5: line when we got to the convention, because we waited until, like,
- 3:08Speaker 5: everybody got in.
- 3:09Speaker 1: We did let all the suckers get out of the
- 3:11Speaker 1: way and, like, cruised in later in the day, so.
- 3:15Speaker 5: That's a strategy. Almost three.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Total strategy. So do we jump right to it then?
- 3:21Speaker 5: I mean, that was the first thing we did. I mean, so.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. Because we were like, if we're doing this,
- 3:25Speaker 1: let's go do it now. Make sure he's ready to go.
- 3:28Speaker 5: We're ready to go.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Everything's cool.
- 3:30Speaker 5: He's not ready to go. We're ready to go.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I mean, he's as ready to go as he's going
- 3:33Speaker 1: to anymore. Do you want to tell them?
- 3:35Speaker 5: We waited in line for the illustrious and iconic and.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Legendary.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Legendary. He is a fucking legend.
- 3:41Speaker 1: He is.
- 3:42Speaker 5: You know, he's a legend. He's an icon.
- 3:43Speaker 3: He's.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Fucking Clive Barker. I mean, how can you not? It's
- 3:48Speaker 5: Clive Barker.
- 3:49Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking. I wasn't sure how much
- 3:51Speaker 1: I was doing at all this weekend. And then I
- 3:53Speaker 1: saw that and I was like, huh. You know, actually.
- 3:56Speaker 5: I have this poster signed by Boone.
- 3:58Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say. At first I
- 4:00Speaker 1: was like, well, Misty might want to go just for books. Because,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, he writes books and stuff.
- 4:05Speaker 5: And I've actually read several of his books.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And then I was like, well, I've been like, as
- 4:09Speaker 1: the geek that I am that loves Nightbreed. I got
- 4:12Speaker 1: a Nightbreed poster, and after I got Boone to sign it,
- 4:15Speaker 1: I was like, well, I already know these other guys
- 4:16Speaker 1: that are in Nightbreed, so let me get them to
- 4:18Speaker 1: sign it. So I've accumulated a couple of signatures on
- 4:20Speaker 1: it already. I was like, wouldn't it be freaking cool
- 4:23Speaker 1: if Clive Barker, not only the man who came up
- 4:26Speaker 1: with the story, but director of that movie, signed it himself.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So that kind of cinched it. I was like, all right,
- 4:33Speaker 1: let's make this happen.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Well, that and the more I read about the fact
- 4:35Speaker 5: that he's going to apparently stop doing conventions.
- 4:38Speaker 1: That's definitely what put a fire under it right now.
- 4:42Speaker 5: And he's, what, 72?
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not getting younger. None of us are, really. So,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I mean, I can't say anything.
- 4:47Speaker 5: And he's had a, you know, it seems like a
- 4:49Speaker 5: rough 72.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he's had some medical issues, and that's a lot
- 4:55Speaker 1: to deal with in and of itself. But, yeah.
- 4:59Speaker 5: But he was there, trooping along, you know, signing stuff,
- 5:02Speaker 5: selling art, you know.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And as we said, more with it than a lot
- 5:05Speaker 1: of other people we talked to.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Hell yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You never know when you're getting with some people and
- 5:10Speaker 1: regardless of age, but definitely as they get up there,
- 5:12Speaker 1: sometimes you don't know what you're dealing with when you
- 5:15Speaker 1: get up to the table. But yeah, he seemed like
- 5:17Speaker 1: he was on top of things. So yeah, that's cool.
- 5:19Speaker 5: I mean, he's responsible for some of the most epic
- 5:21Speaker 5: like horror movies that have existed in our, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 5: in my life at least. I mean, Hellraiser, fucking, he
- 5:29Speaker 5: said Nightbreed, fucking Candyman. He wrote it, you know? I
- 5:33Speaker 5: don't think he had anything to do with like the
- 5:35Speaker 5: directing it, but.
- 5:37Speaker 1: He did the first several, though. I think Candyman he
- 5:39Speaker 1: handed off to somebody else. But yeah, I'm pretty sure
- 5:41Speaker 1: Hellraiser and Nightbreed and maybe Hellraiser 2. That whole first run,
- 5:46Speaker 1: which is what I was kind of fascinated by. I
- 5:49Speaker 1: was like, if he had time, again, he had a
- 5:53Speaker 1: lengthy line and was moving through it at a good pace.
- 5:55Speaker 1: So good for him for that.
- 5:57Speaker 5: When you can have that amount of line and your
- 5:59Speaker 5: minimum price for autographs is $ 100. I mean, you're Clive Barker.
- 6:03Speaker 1: You do what you gotta do. I don't blame him
- 6:05Speaker 1: at this point.
- 6:06Speaker 5: I mean, seriously, he had to be pulling in some
- 6:09Speaker 5: shit this weekend because there was a lot of people.
- 6:13Speaker 5: And at $ 100 a pop, dude, seriously. Good for him.
- 6:16Speaker 5: More power to him.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's what I'd be doing if I were him at
- 6:18Speaker 1: this point. I'll do it right now. Somebody give me $ 100,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I'll scribble some stuff. I can't even read my signature
- 6:24Speaker 1: when I do it, so it's even more priceless.
- 6:26Speaker 5: And he signed mine in red, and it looks good.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Mine at least stands out.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It's in yellow.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Unlike some directors I might not mention. who signed a
- 6:35Speaker 1: black poster with a black Sharpie. Dude, come on now.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So Clive, super cool, picked a color that you can
- 6:42Speaker 1: actually see on the poster.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Because he's a fucking artist.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Damn skimpy. I like his art, too. Had I, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: five grand to blow on some art, dude, seriously, I
- 6:50Speaker 1: would have gone for that. There were several of them
- 6:52Speaker 1: I would hang in my home if I had this
- 6:54Speaker 1: massive home where I had wall space to hang things,
- 6:56Speaker 1: which I no longer do. I'm going to be lucky
- 6:58Speaker 1: to cram this Nightbreed mini poster up somewhere. But I'm
- 7:02Speaker 1: going to because it has awesome signatures on it.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Hell yeah, it does. Then we walked around. Walking around.
- 7:09Speaker 5: A lot of people.
- 7:10Speaker 1: People.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Looking at people.
- 7:12Speaker 1: A ridiculous amount of celebrities. Dude. That's what I was
- 7:14Speaker 1: telling you. As I went through the list this year,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. And you keep scrolling.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I was like, good lord. They've always been awesome, but
- 7:22Speaker 1: they have added so many people over the years. They've
- 7:25Speaker 1: just continued to get bigger and bigger. Their roster these
- 7:28Speaker 1: last couple years is just like, everybody that does conventions
- 7:32Speaker 1: is at Scarefest now.
- 7:33Speaker 5: I think this is the first time I've seen Rose
- 7:35Speaker 5: McGowan out to this one.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I've seen her in recent years starting
- 7:40Speaker 1: to do stuff, but yeah, I don't think we've seen
- 7:42Speaker 1: her this far.
- 7:44Speaker 5: And I gotta say, goddamn.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I've heard some stories, but yeah, she looked pretty damn cute,
- 7:49Speaker 1: gotta say.
- 7:50Speaker 5: I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw her, I
- 7:51Speaker 5: thought somebody had either a life-size cutout or a mannequin
- 7:55Speaker 5: of Rose McGowan, because she didn't look real. She was
- 7:58Speaker 5: so cute, you know?
- 7:59Speaker 1: Well, maybe it was like a standee, and you could
- 8:01Speaker 1: buy it and take it home.
- 8:02Speaker 5: But then she was moving. Maybe he's one of those
- 8:04Speaker 5: real lifelike.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You gotta pay extra for that.
- 8:08Speaker 5: One of those lenticular things that you tilt her a
- 8:10Speaker 5: different way. But yeah, she was just so cute. And
- 8:14Speaker 5: her little outfit. She had like a little jumpsuit on.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Oh my god. So cute. On the other side of
- 8:21Speaker 5: the spectrum, you had Jamie Kennedy.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I didn't even see him. I just saw the picture
- 8:24Speaker 1: you showed me earlier. You didn't see him?
- 8:25Speaker 5: He was standing right there.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I saw his table and went, nah, I've seen enough
- 8:30Speaker 1: of him in the past. I'm fine. Again, as I
- 8:32Speaker 1: told you, last time I saw him at a convention,
- 8:34Speaker 1: he was under the table.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Probably for the best.
- 8:36Speaker 1: As I passed by. And I was like, yeah, I'm good.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Definitely don't think I need a Jamie Kennedy episode. So
- 8:42Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Saw the lines out the door for Skeet Ulrich and
- 8:47Speaker 5: Matthew Lillard. Holy shit.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm so glad Skeet's got a line, though. Because when
- 8:51Speaker 1: we saw him that one time.
- 8:52Speaker 2: He didn't have a line.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It was all waiting for Matthew Lillard.
- 8:54Speaker 5: And I'm like, don't get me wrong.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Shaggy's cool and all. But what the hell?
- 8:58Speaker 5: Skeet's right here.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Come on, people. So, yeah, this time he had a
- 9:01Speaker 1: really good line.
- 9:02Speaker 5: The wolf had a good line. Everybody, well, most people
- 9:06Speaker 5: had a good line, I would say. Except for when
- 9:09Speaker 5: they made the announcement that Jamie Kennedy doesn't have a line. Like, yeah,
- 9:13Speaker 5: rub it in.
- 9:14Speaker 1: They called him out.
- 9:15Speaker 5: I'm like, dude, even the fucking wolf has a line.
- 9:17Speaker 5: How does Jamie Kennedy not got a line?
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah, there is, unless you haven't been to this event.
- 9:22Speaker 1: There is a live wolf that you can, like, donate
- 9:24Speaker 1: money and then go have a picture, sort of in
- 9:26Speaker 1: the vicinity of, hopefully not close enough for him to
- 9:28Speaker 1: eat your face. But, you know, whatever. And yeah, there
- 9:31Speaker 1: was a big old line that we got stuck at.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And I was like, who is this? Oh, it's the wolf.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I was like, well, wolf deserves it.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Totally understandable.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Wolf's super cool.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Doesn't even need security.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 1: He's his own security.
- 9:40Speaker 4: He's a badass.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it was awesome. I bought a couple things. I
- 9:43Speaker 5: already forgot what they are.
- 9:44Speaker 2: So you bought some, were they 3D printed?
- 9:49Speaker 5: Yeah, 3D printed. A little moth. I was a bat.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I was a bat?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Oh, I thought it was a mothman.
- 9:56Speaker 5: And a little skeleton.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I couldn't see.
- 9:59Speaker 5: And I bought an air freshener.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I was trying to stand out of the way. Because
- 10:02Speaker 2: there were a lot of people trying to get in
- 10:04Speaker 2: and out of the booth. Yeah, it's kind of hard.
- 10:06Speaker 2: There's no place to actually be out of the way.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You're kind of in the way all the time, even
- 10:10Speaker 2: when you're out of the way.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I went across where they had backpacks where they were
- 10:15Speaker 1: showing movies on the back of the backpack. And I
- 10:17Speaker 1: kind of want one of those. Because then we could
- 10:19Speaker 1: go to an event and you could take your backpack
- 10:20Speaker 1: and you could watch a movie. It's not the most
- 10:22Speaker 1: convenient thing if you're wearing the backpack, but I was
- 10:25Speaker 1: still impressed with the technology that the backpack was showing
- 10:27Speaker 1: a movie on the back of you.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Well, see, the idea is for all these up-and-coming indie
- 10:33Speaker 2: directors is they can play their movie on the backpack
- 10:37Speaker 2: while they're walking around the convention.
- 10:39Speaker 5: I mean... Or while you're in line behind them.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that too.
- 10:42Speaker 1: These crazy kids today, they do all kinds of weird stuff,
- 10:45Speaker 1: so it actually wouldn't surprise me if that's the new
- 10:48Speaker 1: optimum way for them to experience a film is to
- 10:51Speaker 1: have it on their backpack while they're walking yeah kids.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Are weird i'm gonna say a lot i saw a
- 10:57Speaker 5: lot of velmas today.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah velma's got her.
- 11:00Speaker 5: I didn't see one daphne.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Which is unusual at least there's somebody that wants to
- 11:05Speaker 1: be cute and just dressed like daphne.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah because i mean you gotta think it's convention so are.
- 11:10Speaker 5: You gonna say most of the people at conventions are
- 11:13Speaker 5: chunky And therefore could dress more as Velma than Daphne.
- 11:16Speaker 2: No, actually I was going to say that most people
- 11:18Speaker 2: at the conventions are nerds. And most nerds usually.
- 11:22Speaker 1: She's like a nerd hero.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, she's a nerd hero.
- 11:25Speaker 5: And I wasn't saying anything bad about people at conventions.
- 11:27Speaker 5: I myself am extremely chunky.
- 11:29Speaker 1: We are convention people. Come on now.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But I figured more people identify with Velma than they
- 11:35Speaker 2: do with Daphne.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Probably.
- 11:40Speaker 2: You didn't see any Freds walking around, did you?
- 11:42Speaker 1: No, this is definitely not a Fred crowd.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Conventions in general are not a Fred crowd. No.
- 11:47Speaker 2: No, you rarely ever, I don't think I've ever seen
- 11:49Speaker 2: a Fred.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I always see shaggies.
- 11:50Speaker 5: I'm sure that, I don't know how many people I've
- 11:52Speaker 5: offended by saying that chunky people. I am extremely overweight, so.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Hey, I resemble that remark. Speaking of crazy people, you
- 12:02Speaker 1: also were excited to see your pal Devin Sawa.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Oh my good lord, he is still hot.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I don't know why you didn't go up and tell
- 12:08Speaker 1: him you were his biggest fan.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 5: He'd be like, what the fuck?
- 12:11Speaker 1: He's like, get away from me.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But it made me want to tell you about that movie.
- 12:15Speaker 1: So I had to look up the, I tried to
- 12:17Speaker 1: block out as much as I could. It's called The Fanatic.
- 12:21Speaker 1: If you guys listening weren't here, like, I remember years ago,
- 12:25Speaker 1: like Dick and I, Dick Starr was on and was
- 12:27Speaker 1: telling me about it. And I was in awe. I
- 12:29Speaker 1: was like, wait, what? What is this thing? So, and
- 12:33Speaker 1: then I watched it and I was like, oh, you
- 12:35Speaker 1: weren't lying. Like, this is a real thing. So yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 1: Devin Sawa plays essentially Devin Sawa with a different name.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And he's a guy who makes lots of horror movies
- 12:45Speaker 1: and he goes to conventions and he does like signings
- 12:47Speaker 1: of stuff. And there's a dude that shows up and is,
- 12:52Speaker 1: we'll say, old school, we'd say special. Now I'd say
- 12:56Speaker 1: he's most definitely on the spectrum at some magical point
- 12:58Speaker 1: that who knows what. But he plays it real special,
- 13:02Speaker 1: let's just say. And this character is played by John Troll.
- 13:06Speaker 1: John Travolta's already kind of weird as a dude.
- 13:09Speaker 5: That's what you say.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah, if you add into that him trying to do
- 13:14Speaker 1: a special needs performance, it's cringy is probably, I don't
- 13:20Speaker 1: know that cool kids use that word.
- 13:21Speaker 2: More cringy than Billy Bob Thornton playing Sling Blade.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of. Because at least, like, Billy Bob's almost
- 13:28Speaker 1: doing it at, like, Oscar caliber level. Like, he's trying
- 13:31Speaker 1: to win an award. But, like, this is a schlocky
- 13:33Speaker 1: horror movie kind of a crowd.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I was going to say Simple Simon or Simple Jack.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I was going to say Simple Jack, yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 5: I can't remember his name.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I referenced that earlier. I was like, there's a rule,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and John Travolta did not follow that rule.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 13:45Speaker 1: He did not. He is pretty far down that road.
- 13:49Speaker 1: He went full.
- 13:52Speaker 5: I'm not going to say it. I've already offended people
- 13:56Speaker 5: like myself that are chubby. I don't want to offend
- 13:58Speaker 5: others like me who are also special.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Did you offend yourself?
- 14:01Speaker 1: You're very special.
- 14:02Speaker 4: How about that?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Put that aside. This one, I told you, the only
- 14:06Speaker 1: thing to put it even more in perspective. Keep in mind,
- 14:10Speaker 1: it is directed and co-written by Fred Durst. Backwards Cap,
- 14:17Speaker 1: we're in Fred Durst.
- 14:18Speaker 5: He's hanging out with fucking Corey, or Feldman. Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 1: If only, but no. Unfortunately, Feldman.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Isn't he, like, producing Corey Feldman's videos now?
- 14:26Speaker 1: Something like that. The fact that he has videos is
- 14:28Speaker 1: what's frightening, really. But, yeah, he's stellar director these days,
- 14:32Speaker 1: Fred Durst, so.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what you get when you put all these together, so.
- 14:37Speaker 1: The one that comes out the best is Devin Sawa,
- 14:39Speaker 1: who plays Devin Sawa, and it's just fine, because he's
- 14:41Speaker 1: good at being Devin Sawa.
- 14:43Speaker 5: He's so hot. Yeah. Because he was walking. We were
- 14:46Speaker 5: waiting in line for Clive Barker. And I'm like, he
- 14:48Speaker 5: started walking by. And I'm like.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And you oh so suddenly was like, there goes Devin Sala.
- 14:53Speaker 5: I did too.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And I was like, cool. You're playing it real cool.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Like I said, I don't exist in Devin Sala's world.
- 15:01Speaker 5: If he heard me at all, it would just be
- 15:03Speaker 5: a slight buzz in the background.
- 15:04Speaker 1: He could have swatted you away.
- 15:06Speaker 5: I know.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Go away, buzzy girl.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I was over there in the corner, minding my own business.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Except for the yelling.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Hanging out with the bat.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Devon Sawa!
- 15:12Speaker 5: Devon Sawa! I didn't yell that bat loud. Just enough
- 15:15Speaker 5: to make my point known.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure he gets that most places.
- 15:19Speaker 5: Oh, duh. I mean, if I was fucking Devon Sawa,
- 15:22Speaker 5: I would be disappointed if I didn't get that every
- 15:24Speaker 5: once in a while. Who else did we see that
- 15:27Speaker 5: was fucking... I mean... Aside from the other autograph that
- 15:30Speaker 5: I bought, who I've already got the autograph before, and
- 15:32Speaker 5: I was just sitting there, like, just fucking amazed. I
- 15:35Speaker 5: don't think he's aged.
- 15:36Speaker 1: That one is impressive, because, yeah, there's plenty of people there.
- 15:38Speaker 1: We won't name names. But there's some people in particular, like, whoa,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I haven't seen him in a while. Good golly.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Reggie?
- 15:45Speaker 1: Time moved on, didn't it? Damn. So, that happens.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Reggie's another one of those whose years have not been easy.
- 15:53Speaker 5: But Don Coscarelli, I... I fucking love Don Cross, really.
- 15:57Speaker 5: I can't say his name for shit, apparently. But goddamn,
- 16:00Speaker 5: he's just so nice.
- 16:02Speaker 1: He's super cool. For being also just a total geek
- 16:05Speaker 1: who's into the same stuff that everybody there is. He's
- 16:08Speaker 1: probably spending equally as much time running around other people's tables.
- 16:11Speaker 5: He was sitting there wearing a Suspiria shirt.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Of course, because it's awesome and he knows it. Old
- 16:16Speaker 1: school Suspiria, not the remake.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Well, duh.
- 16:17Speaker 1: But the remake's impressive.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I'm pretending the remake didn't happen.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I like the remake. I don't put it in the
- 16:23Speaker 1: same category as... As the original. But it was well made.
- 16:26Speaker 1: We'll put it that way. But on the going to
- 16:29Speaker 1: see Don Cascarelli. There's a nice tie in there. About
- 16:33Speaker 1: the fanatic. With a crazy person that shows up. And
- 16:35Speaker 1: stands at their signing table. Would you like to go
- 16:39Speaker 1: into the guy in front of you?
- 16:40Speaker 2: I understand people get excited about stuff. And that's cool.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Be prepared.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah be prepared. And check yourself man. When they're getting
- 16:50Speaker 2: ready to. Because you know. These guys, a lot of
- 16:55Speaker 2: times they're doing like a.
- 16:57Speaker 5: There's a schedule.
- 16:57Speaker 2: They have a schedule and they're doing like, you know,
- 16:59Speaker 2: Q & A stuff or doing photo ops and stuff
- 17:02Speaker 2: like that. Don't be the asshole that sits there and
- 17:05Speaker 2: has to carry on like a 45 minute conversation when
- 17:08Speaker 2: there's other people that are waiting in line. It's like,
- 17:11Speaker 2: get your shit signed. Say what you need to say
- 17:13Speaker 2: and get the fuck.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Out of the way.
- 17:15Speaker 1: This guy would have.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Kept fucking talking.
- 17:18Speaker 5: I got one more thing.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I got one more thing. I got one. Let me
- 17:22Speaker 2: find it in my bag. It's like, dude, have all
- 17:23Speaker 2: your shit. Have it arranged. Have it ready. You know?
- 17:27Speaker 5: Dig through your fucking 50 fucking laser discs that you
- 17:31Speaker 5: brought with you.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I pulled the first one out. I looked down at
- 17:34Speaker 1: your record tote bag that he had down at his feet.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And I was like, I'm motioning to it going, holy shit,
- 17:39Speaker 1: look at that.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I know.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I was looking at it too. I was like, good God,
- 17:44Speaker 2: that can't be. He's not getting all those signs.
- 17:46Speaker 5: I know.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I was like, you can't afford that, dude.
- 17:48Speaker 5: No wonder he had shitty posture. I mean, he was
- 17:50Speaker 5: fucking looking around. And he probably carries around with him
- 17:53Speaker 5: everywhere he goes.
- 17:54Speaker 1: He probably does that thing. He's in the grocery store
- 17:57Speaker 1: telling that same story to the lady ringing him up.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And then this one time in Phantasm 2, she's like, sir,
- 18:03Speaker 1: do you have your card? I need to scan your card.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And move along.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Type in your loyalty number.
- 18:09Speaker 5: But dude, seriously, but you know, it was worth it
- 18:11Speaker 5: because Don Coscarelli, he's Again, a fucking icon otherwise. I mean,
- 18:16Speaker 5: I wouldn't have wasted my time.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And again, he's a super cool dude because he was
- 18:20Speaker 1: being a sport. He was just like, yeah, okay, he's
- 18:23Speaker 1: playing along and he's listening to the stories. He wasn't like, ugh.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I've seen plenty of people be, maybe to me, just
- 18:30Speaker 1: kind of like, ugh, dude, go away. Let me sign
- 18:33Speaker 1: this for you and move the hell out of the way.
- 18:34Speaker 1: He was being super cool. I was like, yeah, okay,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and looking at all his stuff and he was being awesome.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Maybe he's better at dealing with people than we are.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Obviously.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Well, that guy just, I mean, it was a throwback. Like,
- 18:46Speaker 1: it's the same dude I've been dealing with since working
- 18:50Speaker 1: at a video store. It's like those same weird, obsessive guys,
- 18:54Speaker 1: mostly all guys. Occasionally, that's not true. Occasionally, there would
- 18:57Speaker 1: be some super weird girls, but I think now it's
- 19:00Speaker 1: way more plentiful to run into girls like that, too.
- 19:03Speaker 1: But you would get these guys that would come in
- 19:05Speaker 1: and it wasn't that it was Don Coscarelli this time.
- 19:08Speaker 1: We would have them come in and do the same thing.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Like they would tell us the same stupid stories for
- 19:14Speaker 1: 45 minutes and maybe be carrying in a whole bunch
- 19:16Speaker 1: of their own shit in a place you don't need
- 19:18Speaker 1: to be bringing your own shit. But they wanted to
- 19:20Speaker 1: show it off to other nerds and just like, guys, seriously,
- 19:24Speaker 1: what the fuck? Settle down.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Well, that's before YouTube channels. It's before everybody could geek
- 19:29Speaker 2: out over. This is my such and such and I've
- 19:32Speaker 2: got autograph this and over here is that.
- 19:34Speaker 4: You know.
- 19:35Speaker 1: But it's also a different level of like antisocial behavior.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Like now I think most like again, most dorky kids
- 19:43Speaker 1: are like already have antisocial built in. So like they
- 19:46Speaker 1: realize they don't want to talk to people and they
- 19:48Speaker 1: don't and they leave it at that. whereas there's like
- 19:50Speaker 1: an older generation that like doesn't have the people skills
- 19:54Speaker 1: but also doesn't have the self-realization to acknowledge that and
- 19:59Speaker 1: they still think they're being normal and cool on the
- 20:02Speaker 1: outside whereas everyone around them is like oh My God,
- 20:05Speaker 1: if you don't shut up.
- 20:06Speaker 5: I'd like to think that I was okay. Because I
- 20:07Speaker 5: warned the lady who was there, I guess, trying to
- 20:11Speaker 5: be like, all right, the photo op is coming up.
- 20:14Speaker 5: I'm like, it's just me?
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:16Speaker 5: I promise I won't be as long as this guy.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I'm not going to take that long.
- 20:19Speaker 5: That guy was still standing there.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, she was kind of trying to get him to.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Wrap it up.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Wrap it up, sir.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Wrap it up.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Wrap it up. And again, it's like it's not fair
- 20:28Speaker 2: to everybody else that's in line that you got to
- 20:30Speaker 2: stand there and yammer on for a half an hour.
- 20:33Speaker 2: And then everybody's got to rush through and only maybe
- 20:36Speaker 2: get five minutes to say, hey, really love that film.
- 20:40Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 20:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:42Speaker 1: See you.
- 20:42Speaker 5: Well, and they're.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Again, that's what's dangerous about it is they're just self-aware
- 20:46Speaker 1: enough because I do... I'm trying not to pay attention
- 20:49Speaker 1: to his yammering, but at one point he did look
- 20:52Speaker 1: around and go, well, and now while the line's not
- 20:54Speaker 1: so crazy, let me tell you about this. And I'm like, okay,
- 20:57Speaker 1: so you looked over and you saw there's a dude
- 20:59Speaker 1: in front of you at the time who wandered off
- 21:01Speaker 1: because he was sick of waiting. Then you were there
- 21:03Speaker 1: and we were behind you. He didn't know we weren't
- 21:05Speaker 1: in line. There was somebody behind us. I'm like, you're
- 21:08Speaker 1: looking at like six or seven people over here and
- 21:11Speaker 1: you're still going... Now, I acknowledge that they're there, but
- 21:14Speaker 1: screw that. It's not 20 people, so it's okay for
- 21:17Speaker 1: me to keep talking. I'm like, dude.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that one guy in front of us was like, dude,
- 21:21Speaker 2: fuck this.
- 21:22Speaker 4: I gotta go.
- 21:23Speaker 1: He got time for you. He walked off.
- 21:24Speaker 5: He was done-sies.
- 21:25Speaker 1: He was done.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was about the time that guy
- 21:28Speaker 2: pulled out his fourth Laserdisc. He was like, nah, I'm
- 21:32Speaker 2: not doing this.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Nah, I just want to show you this one.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Yeah, he didn't want him to sign that one, because
- 21:37Speaker 5: that one didn't have anything to do with him. That
- 21:38Speaker 5: was Angus. Thanks.
- 21:40Speaker 1: And be sure to show me Munchy 2. I definitely
- 21:42Speaker 1: need to look at Munchy 2. Is what Don didn't
- 21:45Speaker 1: say because he's cool. But that's what I'm thinking because
- 21:48Speaker 1: I'm an asshole.
- 21:48Speaker 5: I mean, he did thank me for my kind words
- 21:50Speaker 5: about Beastmaster, even though I'm pretty sure I've read multiple
- 21:53Speaker 5: times that he does not like that.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Well, again, he obviously loved the idea initially. I think
- 21:59Speaker 1: he got kind of shafted by the studio and they
- 22:01Speaker 1: made a lot of changes he didn't like. So I
- 22:03Speaker 1: don't think he likes the finished product because it's not
- 22:06Speaker 1: the way he envisioned it kind of thing. So Not to,
- 22:09Speaker 1: you know, make it like he doesn't actually like Beastmaster. Obviously,
- 22:12Speaker 1: he loved the idea. He made it.
- 22:13Speaker 5: And he did talk about the glorious vision that would
- 22:17Speaker 5: be Mark Singer.
- 22:18Speaker 1: A young, handsome, studly Mark Singer.
- 22:20Speaker 5: When he took the robe off. I can only imagine
- 22:24Speaker 5: being in the first person presence of such a glorious.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Standing directly in front of him as he disrobed.
- 22:32Speaker 5: I mean, seriously. He was a glorious... I mean, he
- 22:35Speaker 5: was glorious. And he wasn't as oily as he was
- 22:38Speaker 5: in the second one.
- 22:39Speaker 1: He wasn't as cut. Well, that was the thing. Like
- 22:41Speaker 1: in the, all the way up through the 80s, even
- 22:43Speaker 1: guys that were in shape weren't like cut. Like it's
- 22:45Speaker 1: not something they worried about. They were just like, I'm
- 22:47Speaker 1: a badass. I can kick your ass. I've got arm muscles.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That's all that's important. It wasn't until like 90s and
- 22:54Speaker 1: on we started getting into that. I need to be ripped.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I need a six pack.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Rip like Jesus. Rip like Jesus.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Rip like Jesus.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:01Speaker 1: So yeah, I think that was just a different aesthetic.
- 23:03Speaker 1: So you can see. From the first Beastmaster when he's
- 23:06Speaker 1: just like a dude that's in badass shape versus I
- 23:09Speaker 1: am cut like you wouldn't freaking believe in part two.
- 23:12Speaker 5: And then there's oil.
- 23:13Speaker 1: And you got to oil up because you got to
- 23:15Speaker 1: get all the definition on the extra super muscly parts.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I wonder if he got his body oil from the
- 23:22Speaker 2: sax guy.
- 23:24Speaker 5: I hope so.
- 23:26Speaker 1: If not now, I mean, everybody should go get it
- 23:29Speaker 1: and buy it in bulk from the sax guy. He's
- 23:32Speaker 1: coming back, by the way.
- 23:33Speaker 5: Or is he going to play Ed O?
- 23:34Speaker 1: I think he's going to play the same play.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Is it still there?
- 23:37Speaker 1: It's still there.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Well, I think they changed hands.
- 23:39Speaker 1: But yeah, it's still there with that same title and
- 23:42Speaker 1: he's coming back again. So you can go sit and
- 23:45Speaker 1: watch that show probably, the same show again. I feel
- 23:48Speaker 1: like he does that show everywhere he goes.
- 23:50Speaker 5: But it's a good show. It is a good show.
- 23:51Speaker 5: Why would you bother changing things if it works?
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Sexy sex man. Hell yeah. Can't go wrong with that.
- 23:57Speaker 5: You truly can't.
- 23:59Speaker 1: He's the coolest.
- 24:00Speaker 5: He is.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Much like Don. Tom was super cool.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Now if he could just fucking bring Mark Singer with
- 24:06Speaker 5: him next time. I don't know.
- 24:07Speaker 1: We keep trying. We keep trying.
- 24:09Speaker 5: So he's still out there. For now. And that wasn't
- 24:14Speaker 5: a threat, I promise.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Let's not push it.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Who else did we see that we were like, oh,
- 24:19Speaker 5: look at that.
- 24:21Speaker 1: There was a lot of masked dudes. They had like
- 24:23Speaker 1: every Michael Myers that ever existed.
- 24:26Speaker 5: And every fucking ghost face, I think.
- 24:28Speaker 2: And terrifiers.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I'm sick of They're the clown people.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Terrifiers. Whatever. I haven't seen the movie, so.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I know. People love it. I'm not going to knock
- 24:38Speaker 1: you for liking it.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I just.
- 24:39Speaker 5: I eventually want to see it. I just haven't.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And again, it's been built up so much now. I'm like,
- 24:43Speaker 1: I don't think I'm going to appreciate it because it
- 24:45Speaker 1: can't live up to how much people have hyped it
- 24:48Speaker 1: and like constantly dropped it everywhere on the internet. And
- 24:51Speaker 1: I'm like, eh, whatever.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Memes. Who cares?
- 24:55Speaker 5: I don't even know the premise of the movie, except
- 24:57Speaker 5: from there being a clown. I don't know anything about
- 24:59Speaker 5: the premise of the movie or anything.
- 25:00Speaker 1: That was enough for me. I was like, I think
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'll watch something else. You don't mind.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Was there anybody from Silent Hill that were there? Because
- 25:11Speaker 2: there were a lot of pyramid heads.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I think it's just a go-to at any convention. Is
- 25:15Speaker 1: it just a go-to? I think it is.
- 25:17Speaker 5: There's at least three. I like the pink girly guy.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Yeah, there was a super girly pyramid head.
- 25:21Speaker 5: She was so cute.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Again, she was super cute, so she usually didn't wear
- 25:25Speaker 1: the pyramid on her head. She had it on a
- 25:26Speaker 1: post and was just displaying how awesome her pink pyramid
- 25:30Speaker 1: head was, but then she didn't want to mess up
- 25:32Speaker 1: her hair, so she didn't really wear it. Meanwhile, the
- 25:35Speaker 1: other shirtless, muddied up dude was walking around with his
- 25:39Speaker 1: pyramid head on.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw at least two pyramid heads. Maybe three.
- 25:44Speaker 5: I saw three total, including the girl.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 5: My favorite costume, though, The entire thing that I saw
- 25:50Speaker 5: was the Mothman with the lamp girl.
- 25:53Speaker 1: That was really cool. I didn't see that one.
- 25:55Speaker 5: It was right after we saw Don Coscarelli, I think.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Oh.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Because you even told them. I mean, you interacted with people.
- 26:01Speaker 5: I did.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Oh, you actually told something to somebody?
- 26:03Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Oh, I don't even remember that.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Craziness.
- 26:06Speaker 5: It was the very last aisle we went in before
- 26:08Speaker 5: we were leaving.
- 26:08Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 26:09Speaker 5: It was a Mothman, and it was a girl, and
- 26:11Speaker 5: she was dressed as a lamp.
- 26:12Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 5: And I was just like, oh my God, that's amazing.
- 26:16Speaker 5: That is awesome. Because it was.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I don't know if I saw anybody where I was
- 26:21Speaker 2: just like, hey, that's an awesome costume. There were a
- 26:24Speaker 2: lot of good costumes there, but I don't think there
- 26:26Speaker 2: was anybody.
- 26:26Speaker 5: That I was just like... We saw the Cenobite girl.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I didn't see her.
- 26:30Speaker 5: How did you not see her?
- 26:31Speaker 2: I didn't see her.
- 26:33Speaker 5: She had her fucking scalp blade open. Oh, oh, wait. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. That girl. I saw.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw her. That's right.
- 26:39Speaker 5: It was because I was getting ready to say.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah, hers was pretty good.
- 26:41Speaker 5: I was getting ready to say, how did we not
- 26:43Speaker 5: see any Cenobites? How was there no pinheads there?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Then I remember we saw her.
- 26:47Speaker 2: It was just her.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And Doug wasn't there. Oh, yeah, but still, you got Hellraiser.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I guess that didn't fuel it. We had the rest
- 26:51Speaker 1: of the Hellraiser crew. The usual suspects were there, but yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 1: And Vince. Vince came in and looked at the artwork
- 26:58Speaker 1: over at.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I was waiting for somebody to yell at him for
- 27:00Speaker 5: not having a mask on.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Eh, he's Vince. He doesn't have to.
- 27:03Speaker 5: Yeah, he's British. He don't have germs.
- 27:05Speaker 1: He's too fancy for germs. We saw our friend Greg Nicotero,
- 27:10Speaker 1: friend of the show.
- 27:12Speaker 5: He's so awesome.
- 27:13Speaker 1: He is very cool. Billy Zane. You love that look
- 27:17Speaker 1: Billy Zane was sporting? Ugh.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Dude, I want to like Billy Zane, but he makes
- 27:22Speaker 5: it so hard.
- 27:24Speaker 1: He just always dresses, like, oddly fancy.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Oh, you know, when we walked out, he kind of
- 27:28Speaker 2: cracked a smile. It was just kind of like, he
- 27:32Speaker 2: didn't look too goofy.
- 27:36Speaker 1: He just dresses, like, kind of like... He's just kind
- 27:38Speaker 1: of fancy. Well, it's not even fully fancy. It's not
- 27:40Speaker 1: like three-piece suit fancy. He dresses like a douche. It's
- 27:43Speaker 1: kind of preppy douche from an 80s movie. Like, he's
- 27:45Speaker 1: always got, like, the little driving cap on. Sometimes he
- 27:48Speaker 1: wears the gloves to go with it. I swear last
- 27:51Speaker 1: time I saw him, he had like a scarf, but
- 27:53Speaker 1: it was like thrown over one shoulder. Like he's always got.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Some sort of. I swear to God, if that motherfucker
- 27:58Speaker 5: shows up with a goddamn ascot, I don't know what
- 28:00Speaker 5: I'm going to do.
- 28:01Speaker 1: You're going to be.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Mucker fucker. I can't even speak.
- 28:04Speaker 1: You're going to be super impressed because he's wearing an ascot.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Smoking jacket.
- 28:10Speaker 5: Dude, we should piece together like. Some decoupage art of
- 28:14Speaker 5: like Billy Zane in the worst possible douchey outfit that
- 28:18Speaker 5: he could possibly wear. And then have him sign that.
- 28:21Speaker 1: He'll probably be like, oh, I like this one.
- 28:22Speaker 5: I remember.
- 28:23Speaker 1: This is my favorite shirt.
- 28:26Speaker 5: How else did we see that was awesome?
- 28:28Speaker 1: The biggest star in the world, the creeper truck.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Obviously. I'm going to talk to the truck. Get him
- 28:36Speaker 5: to sign a picture.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Get him to sign it. He rolls a dirty tire
- 28:39Speaker 1: over a piece of paper and you take that home.
- 28:41Speaker 5: And then they had a guy in there wearing the outfit,
- 28:43Speaker 5: signing autographs. I'm like, dude, the guy who was in
- 28:45Speaker 5: the fucking movies over there. What are you, who are you?
- 28:49Speaker 1: I'm in the costume. Obviously I'm the creeper. He's cosplayer,
- 28:53Speaker 1: which the creeper dude was cool. We've talked to him before.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And that's something I didn't see at this convention was like, maybe,
- 28:59Speaker 2: maybe there's no cosplayers doing, you know, how like a
- 29:02Speaker 2: lot of the comic conventions, there's like cosplay girls and they're,
- 29:07Speaker 2: they're taking pictures, uh, At booths. At booths, like, for money.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I didn't see any horror cosplay girls, which is kind
- 29:16Speaker 2: of odd, because I figured they would have cashed in
- 29:18Speaker 2: on that area, too.
- 29:20Speaker 5: We were kind of, like, speeding through it there for
- 29:22Speaker 5: a while, though, so we might have just missed it.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 29:25Speaker 5: By the time I got over-peopled, I was like, all right,
- 29:27Speaker 5: this is awesome, but yeah, I need to go. I
- 29:30Speaker 5: want to go see Don Coscarelli.
- 29:31Speaker 1: There's only so much we can interact with the humans.
- 29:32Speaker 5: I want to go see Don Coscarelli, and then I
- 29:34Speaker 5: want to go. Yeah. I do like the air freshener
- 29:37Speaker 5: I bought for my car, though. It's a It's the
- 29:41Speaker 5: Mystic Seer little devil skull, not devil skull, devil head
- 29:44Speaker 5: that's on there with, you know, the Shatner episode.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Saw Courtney Gaines. He's cool. Outlander!
- 29:54Speaker 2: Saw Roach.
- 29:56Speaker 5: Which apparently, I was telling you, this is his 10-year anniversary.
- 29:59Speaker 5: They met 10 years ago at the convention, so they
- 30:02Speaker 5: were renewing their vows. Now I'm confused. Did they meet
- 30:05Speaker 5: 10 years ago? Did they get married 10 years ago?
- 30:07Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I told you that's dangerous territory because you're just fueling
- 30:10Speaker 1: the fire for every geek out there that's like.
- 30:13Speaker 5: You mean I missed my shot with Devin Sawa?
- 30:16Speaker 1: But not with Don Cascarone. I say go for it. Dude,
- 30:23Speaker 1: you saw his shirt. He's super cool.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I know, right?
- 30:25Speaker 1: But yeah, I feel like every one of those people
- 30:27Speaker 1: that's like, one day, one day I will totally marry
- 30:31Speaker 1: Phyllis Rose and she'll be awesome and we'll be together.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I'll learn the hard way. It wasn't just a movie.
- 30:38Speaker 1: It wasn't a stand-in after all. Oh God, I thought
- 30:40Speaker 1: it was fake.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I thought it was fake.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Well, she's a delightful person.
- 30:43Speaker 1: She's adorable. I love Phyllis Rose.
- 30:47Speaker 5: She has a good sense of humor about the whole thing.
- 30:49Speaker 1: She is definitely, like, she has leaned into it. Like,
- 30:51Speaker 1: many people would be, like, mortified by the fact that that's, like,
- 30:54Speaker 1: the defining moment in their career. And she's like, screw that. Like,
- 30:58Speaker 1: people love it. I'm going to go with it. Like,
- 31:00Speaker 1: she's super cool. Has she done anything else? I mean,
- 31:03Speaker 1: she's still making horror movies. She's got, like, a huge, like,
- 31:05Speaker 1: following in just the horror circles. So she still turns
- 31:09Speaker 1: up in stuff pretty regularly.
- 31:09Speaker 5: She made another movie, obviously, because when I got my
- 31:11Speaker 5: picture signed, when I got to the sleepaway camp, Autograph.
- 31:14Speaker 5: She signed another picture for free and gave it to me,
- 31:16Speaker 5: and I have no idea what that movie was.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Yeah, because she's making a lot of new movies. I mean,
- 31:20Speaker 1: it's like low-budget horror a lot of times, but again,
- 31:22Speaker 1: she knows her crowd, so she sticks with it.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Cool.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Judy wasn't there this time, though.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Judy.
- 31:30Speaker 1: She's a delight, too. I started following her after we
- 31:33Speaker 1: met her last time, and every once in a while,
- 31:35Speaker 1: she just posts another picture of her, like.
- 31:38Speaker 5: Sideways ponytail.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Hell yeah. Wearing a shirt that says her own name
- 31:42Speaker 1: on it, and.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Why don't I do that?
- 31:44Speaker 1: She likes a lot of the fan artwork she comes across.
- 31:46Speaker 5: I'm just going to start wearing a shirt that has
- 31:48Speaker 5: Misty across it and a sideways ponytail.
- 31:50Speaker 1: That, I don't doubt, actually.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Is that just to hers? Because I don't like ponytails. Like,
- 31:55Speaker 5: two ponytails? Braided pigtails? Because I can have my own thing.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Braided pigtails is pretty cool.
- 32:00Speaker 2: One braided side pig ponytail.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I mean, braided on the side is a different thing.
- 32:06Speaker 1: You don't normally see that.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't see that.
- 32:08Speaker 5: We saw Marcy Darcy.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Depending on where she was in the series, yes, eventually
- 32:15Speaker 1: she was Marcy Darcy.
- 32:16Speaker 5: That's more fun to say.
- 32:18Speaker 1: She is always cool.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Marcy Rhodes just isn't as fun to say as Marcy Darcy.
- 32:23Speaker 1: But that guy.
- 32:25Speaker 5: He was cute in the day.
- 32:27Speaker 1: He's adorable. Come on.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Whatever happened to him?
- 32:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Ted McGinley? Is that his name?
- 32:33Speaker 1: He became the curse of every sitcom.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Jefferson?
- 32:37Speaker 1: Jefferson came in usually and ruined the sitcom and it
- 32:40Speaker 1: went under almost immediately. Except when he showed up on
- 32:42Speaker 1: Married with Children because you can't defeat Married with Children.
- 32:44Speaker 5: You can't.
- 32:45Speaker 1: They only stopped when they got tired of doing it.
- 32:47Speaker 1: They were like, dude, it's like 11 years.
- 32:48Speaker 4: We're tired.
- 32:49Speaker 1: We want to do other stuff.
- 32:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Otherwise, they would have kept on rolling. Jefferson can't defeat them.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Yeah, they had like a lot of people. They had
- 32:57Speaker 5: like epic, like iconic things too. Like, you know, Fright
- 33:00Speaker 5: Night people. They had fucking Chris Sarandon was there. The guy,
- 33:04Speaker 5: William Ragsdale. Is that his name?
- 33:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 1: William Ragsdale was there. They were doing a lot of.
- 33:10Speaker 1: A lot of reunion stuff. I think that usually suckers
- 33:13Speaker 1: people in.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Wasn't the friend there too or did he cancel?
- 33:18Speaker 1: Which friend? Stephen Jeffries? Was he there? I think he
- 33:23Speaker 1: was there, yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Was he the one that I thought?
- 33:25Speaker 1: I think, yeah, you thought he was a different person.
- 33:27Speaker 5: I thought he was a person.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I was like, no, that's it.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I just saw a small picture on my phone and
- 33:33Speaker 5: I'm just like, she had short hair. Maybe that's her.
- 33:38Speaker 1: But we saw her there and that was a totally
- 33:40Speaker 1: different person.
- 33:40Speaker 5: She was way cuter than him.
- 33:41Speaker 1: She's way cuter than him.
- 33:43Speaker 5: It was a small picture.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Amanda's adorable. Come on now.
- 33:46Speaker 4: She was.
- 33:47Speaker 5: Still mad Mark Singer still hasn't come to a convention
- 33:49Speaker 5: around me?
- 33:50Speaker 1: I think he's just avoiding you because he knows you're
- 33:53Speaker 1: living the dream. You've got the same fantasy. One day
- 33:57Speaker 1: it'll be our 10 year anniversary. We met at the
- 34:00Speaker 1: convention and we got married immediately. And I oiled him
- 34:04Speaker 1: up right there at the ceremony.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Well, duh. I mean, would you blame me?
- 34:10Speaker 1: No offense, boyfriend.
- 34:12Speaker 5: I mean, you know. You can come to the wedding
- 34:13Speaker 5: if you want.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Your list isn't laminated.
- 34:16Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:18Speaker 5: He never laminated.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Well, we had an awesome time.
- 34:22Speaker 5: We did.
- 34:23Speaker 1: We want to discuss things we've seen lately.
- 34:25Speaker 5: Only thing we've seen lately, aside from the ID channel
- 34:27Speaker 5: on multiple, multiple murder shows.
- 34:29Speaker 1: You watch a lot of murder shows.
- 34:30Speaker 5: We do, which is why the only thing we've actually,
- 34:32Speaker 5: the only movie that we successfully watched would be... another
- 34:36Speaker 5: repeat showing of I Know What You Did Last Summer,
- 34:38Speaker 5: so I'm not really sure what we could rehash to
- 34:39Speaker 5: make it not the same thing that it's always been. Awesome.
- 34:43Speaker 5: One of the greatest movies ever. I fucking love that movie.
- 34:44Speaker 5: I don't even give a shit.
- 34:45Speaker 1: It's, again, like, it knows what it's doing, and it
- 34:48Speaker 1: does it so well. Like, even just the trailer. I always, like,
- 34:51Speaker 1: reference that as, like, one of.
- 34:53Speaker 5: The most awesome trailers.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And the soundtrack.
- 34:54Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Again, because it, like, banks on that awesome soundtrack in
- 34:57Speaker 1: the trailer. It cuts everything so perfectly with the music. Like,
- 35:01Speaker 1: it is just perfectly put together that, like, I remember
- 35:04Speaker 1: the first time I saw it, I went, oh, shit,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I need to see that. Every time I see the
- 35:08Speaker 1: trailer now, I'm like, the same thing happens. I'm just like, ah, shit,
- 35:10Speaker 1: I need to rewatch that. Like, it's just, it's so awesome.
- 35:13Speaker 1: And then it reminds me, oh, yeah, I do need
- 35:15Speaker 1: to watch that movie again because it's awesome.
- 35:17Speaker 5: And I always forget that Anne Heche's in it. And
- 35:18Speaker 5: then I'm like, oh, yeah, she's dead, isn't she?
- 35:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 5: That sucks.
- 35:21Speaker 1: She's not cool. I'm glad we didn't see her at
- 35:24Speaker 1: a convention.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Yeah, she's crazy.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I've not only heard stories, but I've heard her on
- 35:29Speaker 1: a podcast before and she was not very nice. So,
- 35:33Speaker 1: no offense, rest in peace or whatever. I'm just glad
- 35:35Speaker 1: I'm not hanging out with her.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that movie. I fucking love it.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I'll hang out with love instead.
- 35:40Speaker 5: But yeah, my whole thing is, because I was a
- 35:41Speaker 5: big fan of the book, and I'm not going to
- 35:43Speaker 5: compare the two, but I never can remember who the
- 35:46Speaker 5: killer is, or why, how I get- Gordon Fisherman? Because
- 35:50Speaker 5: I can never remember. I'm like, hold on, wait, who
- 35:51Speaker 5: got killed? How does this guy tie into it?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I think every time I'm in the frozen food section,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I'm like, ah, he's right there by that fish.
- 35:58Speaker 5: Hold on, did you say the Gordman's Fisherman or the
- 36:00Speaker 5: Gortman's Fisherman?
- 36:00Speaker 1: I don't know, both of them.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Did you say T or D?
- 36:03Speaker 2: No.
- 36:04Speaker 5: In my head. Mrs.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Paul's.
- 36:06Speaker 5: I'm telling you, another fucking Mandela effect. I don't remember
- 36:09Speaker 5: it being Gortman's Fisherman.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I thought it was Gorton's. Is it not Gorton's?
- 36:12Speaker 5: No, it's not Gorton's.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Is it Berenstain?
- 36:14Speaker 5: No, it's Gorton's.
- 36:16Speaker 1: It's Gortman's.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Gorton's Fisherman.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Is it Thornton's?
- 36:20Speaker 5: Dude, what the fuck?
- 36:21Speaker 1: Is there an N in Thornton's?
- 36:22Speaker 5: Yeah, what the fuck?
- 36:23Speaker 1: The world is falling apart. Our reality is falling apart.
- 36:26Speaker 5: But I can never remember exactly what it is. I
- 36:29Speaker 5: guess because the book is so ingrained in my head.
- 36:31Speaker 5: I know exactly who the killer is and I can
- 36:33Speaker 5: play it out in my head. But in the movie,
- 36:36Speaker 5: I can never remember who the fuck the fisherman was.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's been a long time, so I probably
- 36:40Speaker 1: don't remember either. So let's not spoil it. I do
- 36:42Speaker 1: need to rewatch it again.
- 36:43Speaker 5: Or who got killed or why they got killed or
- 36:45Speaker 5: what the fuck's.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Going on over here. I think I mostly remember.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Is there a drug deal going on over here?
- 36:48Speaker 1: Cool. We're also up to shady behavior in the parking lot,
- 36:52Speaker 1: so we can't really call them out.
- 36:53Speaker 5: We've got shady behavior in the Bye Bye Baby parking
- 36:55Speaker 5: lot over here. They're scoring some... Whatever the fuck it
- 36:59Speaker 5: is they're scoring. We see you. Hopefully they don't see
- 37:05Speaker 5: me seeing them then come after us. That seems like
- 37:08Speaker 5: another horror movie from the 90s.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Probably. I know what you did in the parking lot.
- 37:15Speaker 5: Of Golf Galaxy. Not sponsored at all. Thank you very much.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Could be.
- 37:21Speaker 5: I do not. Did we watch anything else? No. We
- 37:26Speaker 5: did but I can't remember what it was. We watched
- 37:28Speaker 5: a movie.
- 37:29Speaker 2: We did?
- 37:30Speaker 5: It had Jean-Claude Van Damme in it.
- 37:33Speaker 1: What?
- 37:33Speaker 5: We did.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I like that you've completely blocked us out.
- 37:37Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 37:38Speaker 5: We watched a movie. Was it Time Cop?
- 37:41Speaker 2: No.
- 37:41Speaker 5: Which one did we watch where there's a cyborg? Cyborg's
- 37:45Speaker 5: the only.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Other one I can think of. We watched Cyborg.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I forgot about that. Yeah, I got on this weird kick.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I was like, you know what? I want to watch
- 37:52Speaker 2: fucking Cyborg tonight. Yeah, I forgot about that.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Directed by a friend of the show, Albert Pughn. I mean,
- 38:00Speaker 1: before he probably got kicked off of it. He got
- 38:02Speaker 1: kicked off of most of his movies. But I think
- 38:04Speaker 1: he might have finished Cyborg.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Oh, I like Cyborg. That was a great movie. And
- 38:09Speaker 2: it's weird. I mean, it was weird when it came out,
- 38:11Speaker 2: you know. But, yeah, it was great. That's a great movie.
- 38:15Speaker 5: I'd never seen it before, but, you know.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You kind of watched it.
- 38:18Speaker 5: I did. I watched it because, you know, again, young
- 38:21Speaker 5: Jean-Claude Van Damme. Pretty fucking hot. Before the mullet.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Whoever decided the mullet version of Jean-Claude Van Damme was
- 38:28Speaker 5: a good idea.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 5: It's like a Romany mullet, too. It was kind of
- 38:33Speaker 5: like curly. It was kind of like.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Once he got to those movies, that was a different mode.
- 38:37Speaker 5: I don't even know what was going on. But it
- 38:38Speaker 5: seems like we watched something else, too, but I can't
- 38:40Speaker 5: remember what it was, either.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Did I watch another action movie?
- 38:44Speaker 5: Possibly. You did. I didn't watch that one at all
- 38:47Speaker 5: because it was in a different language.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Oh.
- 38:50Speaker 2: What was it?
- 38:51Speaker 5: I don't know. It was in a different language. It
- 38:53Speaker 5: was all reading. Oh, dude.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yeah. I watched.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Oh, fuck. What was it?
- 38:59Speaker 5: Um... Kung Fu.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Kung Fu Hustle.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I watched Kung Fu Hustle. That was
- 39:05Speaker 2: a great movie.
- 39:06Speaker 1: That's a beloved movie.
- 39:07Speaker 5: Fucking bananas.
- 39:08Speaker 2: It's fucking crazy, but it's fucking awesome. Because I wanted
- 39:12Speaker 2: to watch Kung Pao, but I couldn't find it. My
- 39:18Speaker 2: kid was telling me, because my kid's a fucking nerd now.
- 39:21Speaker 2: She's like, oh, you just go to this site, and
- 39:23Speaker 2: you can like watch it for free and I was
- 39:27Speaker 2: like what she's like yeah just go here and I
- 39:30Speaker 2: was like I'm not.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Gonna do that that sounds shady.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Yeah well my kids like she's tapped into the internet
- 39:36Speaker 2: she knows what's going on yeah she's tapped into like
- 39:38Speaker 2: games and she's like yeah it's $ 70 but I just
- 39:43Speaker 2: pirated it and I was just like what okay.
- 39:49Speaker 5: And now the police are going to be knocking on
- 39:51Speaker 5: her door.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Allegedly. Allegedly.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Nah.
- 39:54Speaker 1: We don't know nothing about that. Well, I watched a
- 39:57Speaker 1: tie-in to today's activities, and not on purpose. This was
- 40:00Speaker 1: actually a week or two ago, which I hadn't even...
- 40:04Speaker 1: I don't even know if I remembered that he was
- 40:06Speaker 1: coming to the event, let alone knew that I was
- 40:08Speaker 1: going to be standing in front of him. But I
- 40:11Speaker 1: did watch one that somehow kept missing, or I think
- 40:15Speaker 1: even had a copy for a long time, and hadn't
- 40:17Speaker 1: watched The Midnight Meat Train.
- 40:20Speaker 5: It's been forever since I've seen that. I don't remember
- 40:22Speaker 5: liking it, though.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Well, I remember just knowing about it.
- 40:26Speaker 5: Was Vinnie Jones in that?
- 40:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Vinnie Jones is the creepy dude on the subway.
- 40:31Speaker 2: I don't remember watching it, either. We watched it, though,
- 40:34Speaker 2: didn't we?
- 40:34Speaker 5: I know we did.
- 40:35Speaker 1: I remembered you guys telling me about it, and I
- 40:37Speaker 1: was like, well.
- 40:37Speaker 5: What was our review? Did we not like it?
- 40:40Speaker 1: I think I know what you would have issue with.
- 40:42Speaker 5: What did I have issues with?
- 40:43Speaker 1: Well, the same thing I had issue with. Because that's
- 40:45Speaker 1: the thing. As a story, it's awesome. And to me,
- 40:48Speaker 1: it's the perfect... Like first feature in a double feature
- 40:51Speaker 1: with Cabin in the Woods. Because it's the most like,
- 40:55Speaker 1: here's a big thing going on and you're not going
- 40:57Speaker 1: to realize that until it's all too late. So that aside,
- 41:02Speaker 1: the issue I had was it was 2008. I just
- 41:05Speaker 1: double checked the year on it. And the effects are 2008.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Which means they're not practical anymore. They are really bad
- 41:15Speaker 1: 2000s CG. There is an eyeball scene that is like,
- 41:21Speaker 1: speaking of cringy, oh my God, like it is so
- 41:24Speaker 1: hard as a movie geek to watch that. And like,
- 41:26Speaker 1: it is just a cartoon. Like it is, it is
- 41:29Speaker 1: so bad. And I'm like, I'm sure at the time
- 41:32Speaker 1: they were like, yeah, we're using these newfangled CG graphics.
- 41:35Speaker 1: It's great.
- 41:36Speaker 5: You remember when Vinnie Jones was the next hot new thing?
- 41:38Speaker 1: I mean, he was for a minute. And then time
- 41:41Speaker 1: moved on. You know, what are you going to do?
- 41:44Speaker 5: Sometimes we don't catch on.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Like we think we're going to.
- 41:46Speaker 2: He got beat up by a guy in the bathroom,
- 41:51Speaker 2: and then nobody cared about him being a tough guy anymore.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Didn't he start singing or something?
- 41:55Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 41:57Speaker 5: In my head, I can hear Vinnie Jones singing, and
- 41:58Speaker 5: I don't think it's great, but it's a thing that happened,
- 42:01Speaker 5: I think.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I just thought it was funny he got little Bradley Cooper.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He was like such a kid then. That was right
- 42:08Speaker 1: before he started to break. Because he probably wouldn't have
- 42:11Speaker 1: bothered to make this low-budget horror movie if he'd already
- 42:14Speaker 1: gotten super famous off his babysitting and watching movies.
- 42:17Speaker 5: I didn't need to watch it again, though. It's been
- 42:19Speaker 5: a long time.
- 42:20Speaker 1: I think everything else. If you take out the cheesy
- 42:23Speaker 1: gore that's done with CG, there's a decent amount of
- 42:27Speaker 1: actual blood that gets dumped everywhere. But when it's in action,
- 42:30Speaker 1: it's usually some bad CG splatter going on.
- 42:33Speaker 5: Did Clive Barker have anything to do with the movie?
- 42:36Speaker 1: He probably produced it or whatever I mean it's not
- 42:38Speaker 1: like he directed it like the early ones so but.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I don't know if he like wrote the screenplay or
- 42:43Speaker 5: like produced it or I.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Think he is listed as co-writer but again.
- 42:49Speaker 5: That could just be from him having written the story
- 42:52Speaker 5: I still.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Think the story's good like I still think the overall
- 42:55Speaker 1: story's really cool and like even the version of it
- 42:58Speaker 1: that we get on screen without the cheesy CG like
- 43:02Speaker 1: it's still pretty solid as a like it's equally like
- 43:05Speaker 1: sort of horror movie of like watching people, watching people
- 43:08Speaker 1: get bludgeon butchered on a train as much as like
- 43:11Speaker 1: a mystery too. You've got, you know, the, the goofy
- 43:14Speaker 1: guy that like catches a different stuff, taking photos. And
- 43:18Speaker 1: then he starts trying to piece together the mystery. So
- 43:20Speaker 1: he's got the cork board in the living room and
- 43:22Speaker 1: he's got strings going everywhere and he's starting to lose
- 43:24Speaker 1: his mind. So I think that version of the story
- 43:27Speaker 1: is pretty cool too, that it does tell a good
- 43:29Speaker 1: mystery that you're trying to, The more he digs into it,
- 43:32Speaker 1: the weirder shit gets.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Was that based on one of his short stories, or
- 43:35Speaker 5: was it like a full length?
- 43:35Speaker 1: I think it's a short story, yeah. I think it's
- 43:37Speaker 1: one of his older Books of Blood kind of things.
- 43:39Speaker 5: It's not one that I've read, so I need to
- 43:40Speaker 5: go back and read some more of his stuff.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I'm sure it's probably relatively different.
- 43:43Speaker 5: I mean, I've read a few, but I haven't read
- 43:45Speaker 5: the complete Clive Barker collection.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Now you have a goal.
- 43:49Speaker 5: I do.
- 43:51Speaker 1: But yeah, I was like, there's so many times where
- 43:53Speaker 1: I've been like, I want to watch that, and then
- 43:54Speaker 1: I either didn't have a copy, or then I had
- 43:57Speaker 1: a copy, which is what always happens when I have
- 43:59Speaker 1: my physical media. It gets all piled And I don't
- 44:01Speaker 1: have room to do anything and I can't find it
- 44:03Speaker 1: if I want to anyway. So this finally, this last
- 44:06Speaker 1: time as it cycled back through as I'm searching for
- 44:09Speaker 1: something else and I found that, I was like, oh.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Shit, here it is.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I'm going to keep this out over here so I
- 44:14Speaker 1: can find it and I can make use of it.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And I actually did this time.
- 44:17Speaker 5: Yay.
- 44:18Speaker 1: So I watched Midnight Meat Train.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I will one of these days again watch it.
- 44:23Speaker 1: It's fun. Again, just turn your brain off when it
- 44:27Speaker 1: comes to CG time. Everything else is cool.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Maybe it'll be one of those that I'll watch it
- 44:30Speaker 5: while I'm cross-stitching or something. Or I can kind of
- 44:34Speaker 5: look up, and if I think something stupid's going to happen,
- 44:36Speaker 5: I can look down.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I still like watching movies for real. TV is usually
- 44:41Speaker 1: how I leave on in the background.
- 44:43Speaker 5: That's usually my murder stories. I still listen, and so
- 44:45Speaker 5: I still know what's going on in the story.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I watch whatever. I don't seek out murder shows, but usually, like,
- 44:51Speaker 1: Friday nights, there's nothing but murder shows on, and I'm
- 44:53Speaker 1: doing something else, so I'll just leave it on, and
- 44:55Speaker 1: I'm like, damn, are they still talking about this same murder?
- 44:58Speaker 1: It's been two hours. Is that person not dead yet?
- 45:02Speaker 5: They're more dead than they were earlier.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I guess so, because they drug it out for two hours.
- 45:07Speaker 1: But along the TV lines, there is one that's, I mean, again,
- 45:11Speaker 1: the rules don't apply anymore. Everything's blurry. Everything's a gray area,
- 45:15Speaker 1: so TV isn't TV. But of series, speaking of being
- 45:20Speaker 1: behind the times, I also just started in about midway
- 45:25Speaker 1: through on Yellow Jackets.
- 45:27Speaker 5: I have not yet seen that, but I want to
- 45:29Speaker 5: so bad.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Everybody was talking about it when it first came out. So, again,
- 45:31Speaker 1: behind the times. But they, once again, put it on
- 45:34Speaker 1: a freaking streaming channel that I don't have. That was
- 45:37Speaker 1: really frustrating because I wanted to see it then because
- 45:39Speaker 1: everybody I knew that was in the cast was like,
- 45:41Speaker 1: that sounds awesome. I want to watch that. And I
- 45:44Speaker 1: heard people raving about it. And I was like, okay,
- 45:47Speaker 1: but I can't watch it right now. They just dropped
- 45:49Speaker 1: the first season on the generic channel that I do have.
- 45:51Speaker 5: It's the generic channel, so I can watch it, too. Oh,
- 45:56Speaker 5: I don't have Netflix.
- 45:58Speaker 1: I barely still do. Although now it's super cheap with
- 46:00Speaker 1: the commercials. So, and they're minimal. I was shocked. Like
- 46:04Speaker 1: it's like 15 second run sometimes. So it's pretty minimal.
- 46:07Speaker 5: I'll be damned.
- 46:08Speaker 1: But yeah, it's, um, it's awesome. Like I, again, I'm
- 46:12Speaker 1: just kind of midway through, but here was the part
- 46:14Speaker 1: I was waiting to tell you about the most crazy
- 46:17Speaker 1: character is Misty.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:21Speaker 1: So if you're going to wear your shirt and your
- 46:22Speaker 1: side braided ponytail, definitely wear the shirt, because everybody should know.
- 46:25Speaker 5: Who plays the character Misty? It's like Christina Ricci?
- 46:28Speaker 4: It's Christina Ricci.
- 46:29Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Or one, again, it's a time slippage, so it's like
- 46:33Speaker 1: we're going back to younger versions, so there's a younger
- 46:35Speaker 1: version of Misty, and then the grown-up version of Misty
- 46:38Speaker 1: is Christina Ricci, who is badass.
- 46:40Speaker 4: By the way.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Those Mistys are, by the way.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but I mean, this is such a good
- 46:45Speaker 1: role for her. Again, as anybody knows, continues on in
- 46:50Speaker 1: their career it's harder to find good roles it's even
- 46:52Speaker 1: harder for women to find good roles as like again
- 46:55Speaker 1: all of these girls are very much and they constantly
- 46:58Speaker 1: kind of reference the fact that like look we're in
- 47:00Speaker 1: our mid 40s now like they're referencing stuff from when
- 47:02Speaker 1: they were teenagers so they're all like look we're grown
- 47:05Speaker 1: ups so why are we still going through all this
- 47:06Speaker 1: bullshit and so as you know you've got all these
- 47:10Speaker 1: actors that are moving on in their careers and like
- 47:13Speaker 1: you don't always get good roles and like this is
- 47:15Speaker 1: a fascinating role like she is so complex like she
- 47:20Speaker 1: is a lot of things going on so yeah definitely
- 47:24Speaker 1: worth watching just for that but you've also got like
- 47:27Speaker 1: so many other great cast members so it's really impressive
- 47:30Speaker 1: so far and I assumed like my take on it
- 47:33Speaker 1: when other people described it and like it's Mean Girls
- 47:36Speaker 1: meets Lord of the Flies And then so I got
- 47:38Speaker 1: into it, I'm like, yep, that's pretty much exactly what
- 47:41Speaker 1: we're dealing with. And then after a little while, it's like, oh,
- 47:44Speaker 1: and there's kind of a little paranormal thing going on here.
- 47:46Speaker 5: There's a little bit of loft.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Just enough of like, I don't know what's going on,
- 47:50Speaker 1: but it's not normal. It's not officially paranormal yet, but
- 47:54Speaker 1: it's not normal. Something creepy is going on. So yeah,
- 47:58Speaker 1: it's been a lot of fun. I'm really enjoying it.
- 48:00Speaker 1: And again, amazing cast. And just such a weird story
- 48:03Speaker 1: that like, this is what, again, you get such, random
- 48:07Speaker 1: stuff on streaming now, because stuff that I'm like, I
- 48:10Speaker 1: don't think any network would have ever, even a cable,
- 48:12Speaker 1: like even Showtime and HBO back in the day, might
- 48:15Speaker 1: not have gotten on board with this weird, complex story,
- 48:19Speaker 1: but it is really impressive.
- 48:22Speaker 5: One of these days, when they put it on a
- 48:23Speaker 5: channel that I have, I'll watch it.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm telling you.
- 48:25Speaker 5: Or when they put it out on Blu-ray, but they
- 48:26Speaker 5: probably won't, because they want actual media to disappear.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Yeah, they kind of do.
- 48:32Speaker 4: It's a sad thing.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I was just defending it the other day. And somebody
- 48:35Speaker 1: was like, whatever old man, nobody likes Blu-rays. I was like,
- 48:39Speaker 1: shut up. I watched my special edition with extra stuff
- 48:42Speaker 1: that you don't have. I'm still sticking with it as
- 48:46Speaker 1: long as I can for good stuff. I mean, there's
- 48:48Speaker 1: plenty of stuff I watch streaming, but like for stuff
- 48:50Speaker 1: that I already know I love, like, I'm going to
- 48:53Speaker 1: buy it in a physical media so I can watch
- 48:55Speaker 1: it again.
- 48:56Speaker 5: Which I didn't realize how much of a difference there
- 48:57Speaker 5: actually was between Blu-ray and DVD until we watched the
- 48:59Speaker 5: DVD versions of Mallrats. And I was just like, what
- 49:01Speaker 5: the fuck is this grainy shit?
- 49:03Speaker 1: It looks like they're drawing comic books for you.
- 49:05Speaker 5: Dude, seriously, what the fuck?
- 49:06Speaker 1: I still watch DVD, though. I do, just because they're cheap.
- 49:09Speaker 1: So if it is something I'm picking up that I
- 49:12Speaker 1: don't know much about it or haven't seen for the
- 49:13Speaker 1: first time, now you can get a DVD version for
- 49:16Speaker 1: a dollar, which is cheaper than buying and streaming. I
- 49:18Speaker 1: don't care. Why wouldn't I?
- 49:20Speaker 2: I still got, like, hackers on DVD.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Well, again, I was raised on VHS at best. I mean,
- 49:25Speaker 1: I was watching network television originally. I was raised on
- 49:28Speaker 1: VHS movies. I was raised on scrambled porn. Oh, that too,
- 49:31Speaker 1: but I could never get it to come in right. Exactly.
- 49:34Speaker 1: And you fry the box trying to jam a screwdriver
- 49:36Speaker 1: in there. It sucks. So, yeah. Again, to me, sometimes
- 49:40Speaker 1: the picture not looking that perfect. Like, I don't know
- 49:43Speaker 1: that I want to go down the 4K, 5,000 extra
- 49:47Speaker 1: glibbits and globbits. I don't care. I'm like, you're getting
- 49:49Speaker 1: too good. Again, the first time I saw the extra
- 49:52Speaker 1: super digital stuff when they started running live TV like that,
- 49:55Speaker 1: I'm like, it looks too real. It's weird. It's fucked up. Like,
- 50:00Speaker 1: I don't know that I want everything looking like that. So, yeah,
- 50:03Speaker 1: I'm fine with, you know, Blu-rays probably as much as
- 50:05Speaker 1: I really need. Yeah. It's fine.
- 50:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:10Speaker 1: So anyway, that was awesome. I'm enjoying that. So I'm
- 50:14Speaker 1: looking forward to in another year when the second season drops,
- 50:18Speaker 1: I can get caught up with people from a year ago.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Only now it'll be two years by that time. So yeah, streaming.
- 50:25Speaker 4: It's frustrating.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Just give it to me right now. Quit messing around.
- 50:29Speaker 5: I'm still watching my murder show. That's all I got.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Those people are long dead.
- 50:34Speaker 5: Well, I'm still trying to figure out if Adnan Syed
- 50:36Speaker 5: killed him and Lee or not. Because I thought for
- 50:39Speaker 5: sure that he was innocent. And then I'll listen to
- 50:41Speaker 5: another podcast. And now I'm for sure that he's guilty.
- 50:44Speaker 5: And now I listen to a different podcast. And I
- 50:46Speaker 5: have no idea what's going on.
- 50:48Speaker 1: You can't believe people on podcasts.
- 50:50Speaker 2: They'll say anything.
- 50:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I know.
- 50:52Speaker 1: I did chase that guy away today. Because he came
- 50:56Speaker 1: up and asked what media outlet we were with. And
- 50:59Speaker 1: I specifically was like, ooh, this will get rid of him.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Watch this. Oh, it's a podcast. He's like, oh.
- 51:04Speaker 4: Okay.
- 51:05Speaker 1: And he walked out. I don't even know if I
- 51:06Speaker 1: got it okay. He just like, we didn't have a
- 51:09Speaker 1: card because I've given up on that at this point.
- 51:12Speaker 1: And then he just walked off without even saying, oh, well,
- 51:14Speaker 1: you guys suck.
- 51:17Speaker 2: I still think you should just steal like other cards
- 51:19Speaker 2: from other businesses.
- 51:21Speaker 5: Like you're stealing my plan. No.
- 51:23Speaker 1: I mean, we were at a table. I couldn't just
- 51:27Speaker 1: talk about it. Grab one off of Don Cascaro's table
- 51:30Speaker 1: and be like, yep, here I am. I'm a massive
- 51:32Speaker 1: film director.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Well, no, you were saying to hand them somebody else's card.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I was saying just grab other cards.
- 51:39Speaker 5: First I started off, then we segued into just taking
- 51:41Speaker 5: a Sharpie and writing your info on that person's card.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Well, I mean like scratching their name out and their occupation.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Nope, I'll be done.
- 51:49Speaker 2: The Sharpie's too thick. You got to use an ink pen.
- 51:53Speaker 5: You could use the fine tip Sharpies. Those do exist.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Use a pilot.
- 51:57Speaker 5: I know how you like your fancy pins.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I like my fancy pins.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Well, they're not even that fancy.
- 52:02Speaker 5: The gel pins?
- 52:03Speaker 2: The gel pins, yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 1: My point is, you can't believe people on podcasts. They'll
- 52:08Speaker 1: say anything.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Are you calling me a liar?
- 52:10Speaker 1: I'm saying you listen to podcasts. That's a bad idea.
- 52:14Speaker 5: I don't listen to this podcast.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Well, obviously not. Why would you listen to this podcast?
- 52:19Speaker 1: That having been said, thank you to the people at
- 52:22Speaker 1: Scarefest for letting this awesome podcast show up at their event.
- 52:26Speaker 1: And hang out and go see a super cool author dude.
- 52:31Speaker 1: And he signed some stuff. A super cool director dude.
- 52:34Speaker 1: And he signed your thing. And he fended off a
- 52:37Speaker 1: crazy person. And it was an awesome day. Hell yeah,
- 52:40Speaker 1: it was. So, thank you to Scarefest for letting us
- 52:43Speaker 1: be part of it.
- 52:44Speaker 5: Which is getting bigger and better every year.
- 52:46Speaker 1: It really is. It's, again, like I.
- 52:48Speaker 5: Just don't go parking in shady ass fucking alleys.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Well, parking is its own issue.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that was kind of a bait and switch there,
- 52:55Speaker 2: you know. Got that nice parking lot, and the guy's like,
- 52:59Speaker 2: 20 bucks, park here.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Oh, go down the, you see that guy at the
- 53:03Speaker 2: end of the alley? Like, way down there, two blocks away.
- 53:06Speaker 1: You were like, wait, two alleys down?
- 53:08Speaker 2: Yeah, all the way down there? Yeah, two blocks away.
- 53:11Speaker 5: Are we parking somebody's yard?
- 53:12Speaker 2: Yeah, parking somebody's yard.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Someone's yard. Is this right? I still don't know if
- 53:16Speaker 1: they got the okay on that.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 53:18Speaker 5: We had to exit by driving through the entire fucking yard,
- 53:21Speaker 5: because they blocked us in.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Not shady at all. I don't know what
- 53:26Speaker 1: you're talking about. So thank you to Scarefest for letting
- 53:29Speaker 1: us come and be part of all the fun. Go
- 53:31Speaker 1: to scarefestweekend.com and start planning your trip there next year.
- 53:35Speaker 5: Well, there will probably be even more people.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Probably. Every year I keep thinking, all right, this is
- 53:41Speaker 1: all that can cram in there. That's a lot of people.
