- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's more marks alone on seven to ten.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Woor.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Well, it's been quite a week. It's over. It's over.
- 0:08Speaker 1: We need a weekend to recover. It's getting cold out.
- 0:12Speaker 1: The Rockefeller Center tree they cut it down. It's on
- 0:15Speaker 1: its way. It'll be here there too. That's how you know.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I guess summer's over. Rockefeller Center tree is on its way.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I was in the Central Park. The skating rink is open.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I guess. I guess summer is finally over. Hey, by
- 0:30Speaker 1: the way, if you want to look at leaves, changing colors,
- 0:33Speaker 1: the leaves, apparently this is the peak weekend around here,
- 0:38Speaker 1: around the New York City area, in Long Island, Connecticut,
- 0:43Speaker 1: New Jersey, this is the peak weekend, So do it
- 0:46Speaker 1: this weekend. Nancy Pelosi has announced she will not seek reelection.
- 0:52Speaker 1: That's great news. President Trump was asked about it. I
- 0:56Speaker 1: think she's an able woman. I'm glad she's retiring.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I think she did the country a great service by reteter.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I think she was a tremendous liability.
- 1:06Speaker 1: For the country. Now you're saying, well, would he say
- 1:10Speaker 1: that he shouldn't talk like that? Why does he talk
- 1:12Speaker 1: like well? Because a couple of days before, did you
- 1:15Speaker 1: hear what she said about him. She's on a being
- 1:17Speaker 1: interviewed by somebody on some show. To listen to the hyperbole.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Listen to how crazy they get.
- 1:24Speaker 3: He's just a vile creature, the worst thing on the
- 1:27Speaker 3: face of the earth.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But anyway you think he's the worst thing on the
- 1:30Speaker 1: face of the earth.
- 1:31Speaker 4: I do, Yeah, I do.
- 1:35Speaker 1: They just get so crazy about him, They get so crazy,
- 1:39Speaker 1: we're gonna there's a couple of prominent psychologists who actually said,
- 1:44Speaker 1: what sets them off so much? Why is he? You know,
- 1:47Speaker 1: they hated Bush and they they hated Reagan and they
- 1:51Speaker 1: went after him, but this is beyond anything. Some psychologists
- 1:54Speaker 1: think it's because you know, they're trying to be so
- 1:57Speaker 1: woke and you know DEI and he's just like this
- 2:02Speaker 1: old fashion macho guy, old fashion nineteen fifties sort of
- 2:08Speaker 1: macho kind of it's that that sets him off. And
- 2:12Speaker 1: then there's some psychologists that say it's like a daddy issues,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Like they've got massive daddy issues with this guy, but
- 2:21Speaker 1: he just sets them up. I mean, listen to her,
- 2:23Speaker 1: this is nice. If I played the clip and I
- 2:26Speaker 1: didn't say who she's talking about, who would you guess
- 2:28Speaker 1: she's You probably think she's talking about Iotola Komani or
- 2:32Speaker 1: or Putin or bin Laden. But if you didn't know who,
- 2:37Speaker 1: she was.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Talking about creature, the worst thing on the face of
- 2:42Speaker 3: the earth.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But anyway, you think he's the worst thing on the
- 2:45Speaker 1: face of the earth, I do. Yeah, it's pretty funny. Now.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The only sad thing about her leaving It was great
- 2:52Speaker 1: to watch her trade stocks. She was the greatest insider
- 2:55Speaker 1: trading in the history of the world. Nobody you know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: you're allowed to do inside trading in Congress. So a
- 3:01Speaker 1: lot of people made a couple of millions. She made, like,
- 3:04Speaker 1: got close to a billion dollars. Now, listen to this.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Over the last ten years. Because of her insider trading.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Over the last ten years, Nancy Pelosi outperformed Warren Buffett
- 3:16Speaker 1: Buffett's stock portfolio. Buffett grew his portfolio by one hundred
- 3:20Speaker 1: and eighty five percent. Pelosi grew hers by seven hundred
- 3:24Speaker 1: and twenty percent, almost four times the gains. You got
- 3:28Speaker 1: to give her credit for at least for that the
- 3:31Speaker 1: greatest insider trading in the history of the world. In
- 3:34Speaker 1: her case, it was legal. So alist Stephonic is going
- 3:37Speaker 1: to run for governor. She's why would she announce it
- 3:39Speaker 1: Now it's a year one year away. Do you really
- 3:43Speaker 1: need a whole year? Well, okay, it helps, you know.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Some say that was the big, big problem with Cuomo.
- 3:48Speaker 1: He was just so dead all through the primaries. He
- 3:51Speaker 1: didn't wake up until the last two weeks. One reason
- 3:54Speaker 1: you start early. It gives you an excuse to go
- 3:57Speaker 1: around and campaign, not in the big places but in
- 4:00Speaker 1: the little places. That's why the candidates go to Iowa
- 4:03Speaker 1: year ahead. You go to these little, tiny place where
- 4:06Speaker 1: nobody's really going to watch nobody. You're not gonna get
- 4:08Speaker 1: a lot of coverage, which is good, but you do speeches,
- 4:11Speaker 1: you meet with voters, and that way you hone the message.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You're really you know, six months of that and then
- 4:17Speaker 1: you're ready for the real campaign. You have developed a message,
- 4:19Speaker 1: a stump speech, You've really got yourself up to speed.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So that's why you do it a year ahead of time. Now,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Hokeel is going to have a huge problem. Normally, these
- 4:29Speaker 1: Democrats will campaign on affordability and whatever crisis. Well, now
- 4:35Speaker 1: you've got a Republican who can just look at you
- 4:37Speaker 1: and say you're the one in charge for the last
- 4:38Speaker 1: eight years. It's your fault. You created it, So I
- 4:41Speaker 1: don't know what she's going to do about that. The
- 4:43Speaker 1: other big problem she has is a Mom Donnie problem.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You can assume a year from now, Mom Donnie will
- 4:49Speaker 1: have been a terrible, terrible mayor and she endorsed them.
- 4:52Speaker 1: She is going to have to deal with that picture
- 4:54Speaker 1: of her and him they pose together, holding their hands
- 4:57Speaker 1: up together, clasp pa. So she's going to have to
- 5:02Speaker 1: answer for that, and that's not going to be easy.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It's going to be a big problem for her. Hey,
- 5:08Speaker 1: MSNBC a week from today will no longer exist. Friday,
- 5:14Speaker 1: the fifteenth final day of MSNBC. It's gone. They'll rebrand
- 5:19Speaker 1: it as they'll call it MS now. They gave people
- 5:24Speaker 1: a tour of their new studio. They've been kicked out
- 5:26Speaker 1: of Rockefeller Center. Their new studios kind of small. It's
- 5:29Speaker 1: a little cramped. They'll be operating out of there. But
- 5:32Speaker 1: you know, there's a lot of branding experts that say
- 5:35Speaker 1: they may not realize how dangerous this is. You know,
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's gonna be the same show, same anchors, won't look
- 5:40Speaker 1: as good because it'll be smaller studios. They will no
- 5:43Speaker 1: longer have NBC News resources or correspondence or all of that.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But anytime you rebrand, you know, you could just change
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, well, if you said, yeah, but they're just
- 5:54Speaker 1: changing the name, or they just changing the logo, it
- 5:59Speaker 1: can affect things. What happened to Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel
- 6:03Speaker 1: just changed the logo and they redecorated the stores. Rebranding
- 6:09Speaker 1: is very, very, very dangerous, so it'll be interesting to
- 6:13Speaker 1: see what happens now. MSNBC apparently is worried about the
- 6:17Speaker 1: dangers of rebranding, so they put together a few million
- 6:21Speaker 1: dollars to do an ad campaign to promote the new brand.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You'll start seeing that everywhere. And this is a company
- 6:27Speaker 1: that was spun off from NBC in comcasts, so a
- 6:31Speaker 1: few millions a lot of money to them, but it's
- 6:35Speaker 1: going to be quite a struggle. Heyy, speaking of television,
- 6:39Speaker 1: sometime today, I'm going to go over to the Paley Center.
- 6:42Speaker 1: You know, that's like the Museum of Television and Radio.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They call it the Paley Center. But this is the
- 6:48Speaker 1: final weekend it's there, and I want to the museum
- 6:50Speaker 1: is going to be there forever. But what's there for
- 6:54Speaker 1: the final weekend is Johnny Carson's actual desk and parts
- 6:58Speaker 1: of the Tonight Show set. Want to go over there
- 7:00Speaker 1: and see it before it goes away. He'll be there
- 7:02Speaker 1: through Sunday at the Paley Center. You can actually see
- 7:06Speaker 1: the actual Johnny Carson desk, which is that's pretty cool.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And then PaleyFest actually begins. Now they've got a whole
- 7:14Speaker 1: bunch of big events. The check the schedule. You can
- 7:17Speaker 1: get tickets. Where there's Trisha Yearwood, is there Ted Danson,
- 7:21Speaker 1: who's got this hot news series on Netflix. Just go
- 7:24Speaker 1: to a pale museum dot org. It's all for a
- 7:27Speaker 1: very good cause. Hey, there is some good news this week.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Looks like John Brennan that the dirty, dirty CIA director
- 7:35Speaker 1: will be indicted. Apparently they are preparing indictments against him.
- 7:40Speaker 1: They will go after him. Hopefully they'll get him. But
- 7:42Speaker 1: even if they don't, just put him on trial. This
- 7:45Speaker 1: is the dirtiest CIA director we've ever had. Also communist,
- 7:50Speaker 1: by the way, I mean literally he admits to having
- 7:53Speaker 1: voted in presidential elections for the communist candidate. Now that's
- 7:57Speaker 1: the kind of guy. This is CIA director. You know,
- 8:00Speaker 1: Comy was at one time a communist. He's talked about
- 8:03Speaker 1: earlier in his life being an actual communist. He tries
- 8:06Speaker 1: to pose as some sort of Republican. He's always always
- 8:09Speaker 1: been very left wing Democrat, but he admits earlier in
- 8:12Speaker 1: his life he was an actual communist. Do you remember
- 8:15Speaker 1: the McCarthy stuff. McCarthy hearings, If you even happen to
- 8:19Speaker 1: walk into a Communist party meeting or a Communist club meeting,
- 8:23Speaker 1: you were banned from society for the rest of your life.
- 8:25Speaker 1: These guys were actual communists, declared communists. Cally Brennan. Also
- 8:32Speaker 1: remember it was Brennan who signed that ridiculous letter from
- 8:37Speaker 1: the fifty one former intelligence officials who said the Hunter
- 8:40Speaker 1: laptop was Russian disinformation. Absolutely insane stuff. You hear all
- 8:47Speaker 1: this talk. Everybody's moving, everybody's leaving. Everybody's fleeing New York
- 8:51Speaker 1: because of Mom Donnie. I don't know, well, there'll be
- 8:55Speaker 1: some people will leave, but everybody's going to leave that fast.
- 8:57Speaker 1: We went through this with de Blasio, same thing. Everybody's leaving.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Some people did, but not a lot. But they're panicking
- 9:05Speaker 1: in Florida and all the homes that are available in Florida.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You know, they figure everybody will move to Florida. Now,
- 9:12Speaker 1: all these rich people moved to Florida, So the homes
- 9:15Speaker 1: that would be that were available are all getting snapped
- 9:18Speaker 1: up like crazy, not by New Yorkers, but by local
- 9:21Speaker 1: Floridians who apparently, in the last weeks since Momdani, have
- 9:27Speaker 1: flooded the market because they're afraid all these New Yorkers
- 9:30Speaker 1: will come down and buy everything, and when they start
- 9:34Speaker 1: buying like crazy, it'll drive the pricest way up in Florida.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So local Floridians started buying stuff. There were homes that
- 9:41Speaker 1: were on the sitting on the market for months with
- 9:43Speaker 1: no activity that all of a sudden had dozens of
- 9:46Speaker 1: offers Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, And these homes are getting snapped
- 9:51Speaker 1: up at the fastest rate they've ever seen. Condos that
- 9:54Speaker 1: sat through the whole summer with no bidders now have
- 9:56Speaker 1: multiple offers. It's going on all over the East Coast, Miami,
- 10:00Speaker 1: Boca Palm Beach. In fact, they're starting to see it
- 10:04Speaker 1: in Orlando and other places. Floridians snapping up these homes
- 10:08Speaker 1: because they know it's going to drive prices up like crazy. Hey,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you know podcasting is a big thing. Now, there's two
- 10:16Speaker 1: kinds of podcasts. There's the real ones, the professional ones.
- 10:20Speaker 1: iHeart is the biggest podcast in the world. Serious is
- 10:24Speaker 1: a big podcaster Spotify obviously, but nobody's bigger than iHeart,
- 10:29Speaker 1: and we've got all the top top names in the
- 10:31Speaker 1: world podcasting. Now, the other part of podcasting is every
- 10:34Speaker 1: amateur now has a podcast because anybody can do it. Now,
- 10:39Speaker 1: if you talk about a professional podcast, we have millions
- 10:43Speaker 1: and millions and millions of listeners. If you're Joe Rogan,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you got forty million listeners or whatever he's got the
- 10:50Speaker 1: one with President Trump, the campaign podcast, I think that
- 10:56Speaker 1: hit one hundred million listens at one point. Even my podcast,
- 11:00Speaker 1: they'll hit ten million this year, ten million listens. We
- 11:03Speaker 1: did nine point four million last year. But it's a
- 11:05Speaker 1: big deal these podcasts. Now, Netflix wants to get into
- 11:12Speaker 1: the podcasting business. They want to seriously get into the
- 11:15Speaker 1: podcasting business. Netflix of course the number one best known
- 11:19Speaker 1: streaming place, but they think that's not enough, that you
- 11:22Speaker 1: better expand all of that, so they want to get
- 11:24Speaker 1: into podcasting. They're making a deal. Well, they're in talks
- 11:29Speaker 1: with SERIOUSXM YouTube, by the way, it's a huge podcaster.
- 11:34Speaker 1: So Netflix is talking to SERIOUSXM to combine and have
- 11:38Speaker 1: all of their podcasts now they want to do it
- 11:40Speaker 1: audio and video. Serious XM has some big podcast call
- 11:45Speaker 1: Her Daddy, Morbid, Dateline NBC. But they're trying to strike
- 11:49Speaker 1: some kind of deal. Earlier they made a deal with Spotify.
- 11:53Speaker 1: They got the Bill Simmons podcast, Zach Lowe Conspiracy Theories,
- 11:57Speaker 1: and some others. Now, the biggest podcast of all is iHeart.
- 12:02Speaker 1: There's nobody bigger than iHeart. Hollywood reporter says Netflix has
- 12:06Speaker 1: also approached iHeart Media about a similar arrangement. iHeart has
- 12:11Speaker 1: some of the most important podcasts in the world, like
- 12:13Speaker 1: the Breakfast Club done over there right across the hall
- 12:17Speaker 1: and stuff you should know. Now, there's some trade magazines
- 12:21Speaker 1: this morning writing that it sounds impressive, but that they
- 12:26Speaker 1: think Netflix is way too late, way too late to
- 12:30Speaker 1: get into this, that they've missed the boat on it.
- 12:32Speaker 1: They'll never catch up. You know, when they started with
- 12:35Speaker 1: the streaming stuff, they were ahead of everybody else. That's
- 12:39Speaker 1: how they got so big. And you remember at the time,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you kids today, you won't know what I'm talking about.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Before Netflix, if you wanted to see a movie at home,
- 12:51Speaker 1: you had to go to a store like a Blockbuster
- 12:54Speaker 1: video store. And you had to rent the movie for
- 12:57Speaker 1: a day or two. At one time it was on cassette,
- 13:00Speaker 1: a VHS casset, and you'd have to rewind it. If
- 13:04Speaker 1: you didn't rewind it before you brought it back, you
- 13:06Speaker 1: get fined. And then later it was a DVD. This
- 13:10Speaker 1: sounds crazy. Can you imagine a twenty three ye old listening?
- 13:13Speaker 1: What what do you mean you went to a street. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you had to go to a blockbuster, rent the thing,
- 13:18Speaker 1: bring it back. You had to go back the next day.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And state of the art was they put it like
- 13:24Speaker 1: a slot in the door, so you didn't have to
- 13:26Speaker 1: go during the day. You could go late at night
- 13:28Speaker 1: and drop it through the slot. But then Netflix started.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Netflix actually started, I think it was DVDs. It was DVDs,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and then they started streaming. Eventually got rid of the
- 13:37Speaker 1: DVDs and streaming took over. So but again podcasting, they're
- 13:43Speaker 1: way too late to jump on board. Hey, King Charles, boys,
- 13:48Speaker 1: he had to get this, Prince Andrew. He stripped him
- 13:50Speaker 1: of his title, the Duke of this, the Duke of that,
- 13:52Speaker 1: the Earl of the Duke of Earl, whatever the hell
- 13:55Speaker 1: he was. King Charles keeps taking things away kicked him
- 13:58Speaker 1: out of the wherever he was living such palace, taken
- 14:03Speaker 1: everything final humiliation, he stripped his brother of his other titles.
- 14:07Speaker 1: He was left with Royal Highness and prince. So he's
- 14:11Speaker 1: no longer any of that stuff. Now this is all
- 14:14Speaker 1: because of the Jeffrey Epstein Gallaine Maxwell stuff. This woman
- 14:19Speaker 1: wrote a book with all the allegations, but it's never
- 14:22Speaker 1: been proven. Nothing's been proven. Just because somebody claimed it
- 14:26Speaker 1: hasn't been proven. But on the other hand, he's never
- 14:29Speaker 1: denied it. He's never actually denied the allegations. So the
- 14:32Speaker 1: only thing he has left he's a Vice Admiral of
- 14:35Speaker 1: the Royal Navy, that title given him in twenty fifteen.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He did spend twenty two years in the Royal Navy
- 14:43Speaker 1: and he actually he saw active service. Was a helicopter
- 14:46Speaker 1: pilot during the Falklands War. Ooh, a helicopter piloto. This
- 14:50Speaker 1: is like Mikey Cheryl. Two of them could start a
- 14:53Speaker 1: little helicopter company there. But this Prince Andrew, I don't
- 14:57Speaker 1: know what he's gonna do. If I were him, I
- 14:58Speaker 1: would just leave. Just hey, come over here, come over here.
- 15:01Speaker 1: They'll treat you like a big tabloid star. But he
- 15:03Speaker 1: would face charges if he came out of here, so
- 15:07Speaker 1: that's why he has to stay in England. Hey, we'll
- 15:09Speaker 1: take some calls in a minute. Eight hundred three two
- 15:12Speaker 1: one zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three
- 15:16Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten. Get Mark on demand by
- 15:20Speaker 1: setting up presead for his podcast on the iHeartRadio app.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Now back to Mark Simon on wor.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Uh, let's
- 15:33Speaker 1: go to John and Florida. John, how you doing.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Morning, Mark?
- 15:37Speaker 4: Mark?
- 15:37Speaker 5: Wa'm sean go from retail for the airlines to pick
- 15:40Speaker 5: up the control of salaries and then reimbursed them when
- 15:43Speaker 5: the government comes back.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Well, those airlines don't make much money to begin with.
- 15:47Speaker 1: The profit margin on an airline is practically nothing. It's
- 15:51Speaker 1: almost impossible to run an airline. As Donald Trump used
- 15:55Speaker 1: to point that out.
- 15:56Speaker 3: You know. Uh.
- 15:57Speaker 1: He used to explain that he went to business school
- 16:00Speaker 1: with all these geniuses. Some of them became billionaires and
- 16:03Speaker 1: some of them didn't make that much money. And he
- 16:05Speaker 1: said the reason was some of them went into the
- 16:07Speaker 1: right businesses. They went into oil and made billions. Some
- 16:10Speaker 1: of them went into the airlines and you can barely
- 16:12Speaker 1: make a living there. It's not easy on those airlines.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I know they they can be really awful to customers,
- 16:19Speaker 1: but good news is they're not making much profit those airlines.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Let's go to Georgia and Long Island. George, how you
- 16:25Speaker 1: doing fine?
- 16:27Speaker 6: Mak just a quick statement, Mendani has some type of
- 16:31Speaker 6: cult following where you can get a million votes like
- 16:33Speaker 6: he did. I think you'll have an impact on the
- 16:36Speaker 6: governor's election, whether it be st fined as we just said.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah, now, it's not a cult following. When you win
- 16:41Speaker 1: a majority of the votes in New York City, that's
- 16:43Speaker 1: more than a cult. That's a lot of people, but
- 16:46Speaker 1: a lot of that. These younger people who you know,
- 16:50Speaker 1: indoctrinated in all these universities, haven't seen a lot of history.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Don't know that. Every so often, every twenty years, somebody
- 16:57Speaker 1: comes along with this socialist nonsense and it always fails.
- 17:01Speaker 1: And anytime the government jumps in and decided to do
- 17:06Speaker 1: stuff for the poor, it's always the rich that benefits
- 17:09Speaker 1: the most from it. In the end, they always figured
- 17:11Speaker 1: out how to benefit from it. Let's go to Nick
- 17:13Speaker 1: and basking Ridge. Nick, how you doing, Hi?
- 17:16Speaker 2: Mark? You mentioned Trump arrangement syndome, and I have a
- 17:21Speaker 2: three word explanation of exactly what that is. Go ahead,
- 17:26Speaker 2: Ego hates ego.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Well, that could be. That could be also. But a
- 17:35Speaker 1: lot of psychologists have talked about this. They think it's
- 17:38Speaker 1: just that he's everything that they tried to stamp out
- 17:43Speaker 1: in life, like old fashioned macho macho man and just
- 17:49Speaker 1: this like alpha male, this like old good, old fashioned
- 17:52Speaker 1: American moxie. They thought they stamped that all out. They
- 17:55Speaker 1: don't want to see that anymore. Let's go to Bill
- 17:58Speaker 1: Bradley Beach. Bill, how you.
- 17:59Speaker 7: Doing, good Mark, Good morning. Well we've had jeffaries on
- 18:05Speaker 7: saying about and across the living and everything. Yet the
- 18:08Speaker 7: Democrats couldn't care about the fifty year high inflation for
- 18:12Speaker 7: four years out of the Bider dictatorship, where they actually
- 18:16Speaker 7: eliminated the dollar store. When they left, everything was twenty
- 18:20Speaker 7: five and more everything in the country.
- 18:23Speaker 1: What are you saying, Democrats are hypocritical? You can't believe
- 18:26Speaker 1: that that's not the Democrats, I know, hypocrites. Why that's unheard? Yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 5: No.
- 18:33Speaker 1: The funniest thing is you watch these videos where they
- 18:35Speaker 1: all say Trump talked about getting rid of the philibuster,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and they all have these. You can see these online,
- 18:41Speaker 1: all of them, Bernie Sanders, Obama, all of them saying
- 18:45Speaker 1: why that's un American, that's a threat to our democracy.
- 18:48Speaker 1: To get rid of the philibuster. Then you'll see it
- 18:51Speaker 1: cut together with the video of them from four years
- 18:53Speaker 1: ago saying we must get rid of the philibuster. It's
- 18:55Speaker 1: anti American, it's anti democracy. Let's go to Carl and Sayerville, Carl,
- 19:00Speaker 1: how you doing by Mark?
- 19:01Speaker 4: How are you? You know Mark the incoming marriage. Do
- 19:04Speaker 4: you think he's going to like maybe scale down the
- 19:07Speaker 4: Independence Day celebration and shorten the Thanksgiving Day prosh?
- 19:13Speaker 1: You know, I didn't talk about that. I didn't think
- 19:17Speaker 1: about that. Oh that's a very good point. I didn't
- 19:20Speaker 1: think about that. Excellent point. You know this guy, you know,
- 19:23Speaker 1: he can't raise your taxes. He can't give you free busses.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That's not in his power. But I didn't think about that.
- 19:28Speaker 1: He can start getting rid of the Rockefeller Center tree.
- 19:32Speaker 1: He could eliminate the Columbus Day parade. He could. I
- 19:36Speaker 1: don't know. That's because it's tough to do. That would
- 19:38Speaker 1: be really tough for him to do. But you're right,
- 19:40Speaker 1: we got to keep an eye on that. Let's go
- 19:42Speaker 1: to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark, Good morning Anthony from the Bronx. Mark
- 19:49Speaker 5: maybe mondomial stall outdoor, loud speakers around city Hall and
- 19:54Speaker 5: instead of a minaret, we'll have to call the prayer
- 19:57Speaker 5: every day. The Muslim called the prayer Uh, Mark speaking
- 20:02Speaker 5: about the communists and everything about how Dora McCarty uh
- 20:07Speaker 5: day that they come after you right after they caught
- 20:10Speaker 5: and executed to kidnappers Sacco and Vanzetti of Uh Lucky
- 20:17Speaker 5: Limburg's child in my grandfather's building at the time, and
- 20:21Speaker 5: my mother was alive and living there. She told me
- 20:24Speaker 5: on the top floor there was an Italian communist living
- 20:28Speaker 5: there with his wife and his kid, and one day
- 20:32Speaker 5: the FBI came to arrest him, came to get him
- 20:35Speaker 5: uh for communist activity, and the punk that he was,
- 20:40Speaker 5: he locked himself in the apartment and the punk killed
- 20:44Speaker 5: his wife, killed his kid, and then killed himself because
- 20:49Speaker 5: he couldn't face the music.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Mark.
- 20:51Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you, man, and you're in the know, You're.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Out there story a little.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Mark. I don't think Jessica is going to take
- 21:02Speaker 5: Madami to Kamie. It's offer to be police admission and
- 21:07Speaker 5: his why. Rumor has it that she wants to run
- 21:11Speaker 5: for mayor the next time around, and she would, She
- 21:15Speaker 5: would easily. She'd have the money, she could self fund.
- 21:19Speaker 5: And I don't think she wants to be her name
- 21:21Speaker 5: in any way, in her family's name associated with Zora Mandai.
- 21:26Speaker 5: She doesn't need that because she'll fill out. She'll finish
- 21:31Speaker 5: out her term with Adams. She's doing a great job
- 21:35Speaker 5: and why would she want.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Bet No, she probably won't risk it for Vincent. Great call,
- 21:39Speaker 1: Thanks for calling. We were hearing if she leaves uh
- 21:43Speaker 1: Mondannie is looking at Rodney Harrison, Suffolk County Police Commissioner.
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's the guy he's looking at, former NYPD Chief of Department.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So that's not the world's worst choice. But hey, when
- 21:55Speaker 1: we come back, Roger Friedman will be with us, Great
- 22:00Speaker 1: Entertainment Reporter. We'll talk to him next on seven to ten.
- 22:03Speaker 2: W R marks the motion on sevent ten, wor Well
- 22:10Speaker 2: Roger Friedman, the Great Entertainment Reporter.
- 22:12Speaker 1: His website is Showbiz four one one dot com. We're
- 22:17Speaker 1: trying to get all right, he'll turn up. But as
- 22:22Speaker 1: for Showbiz four one one dot com. There's new stories
- 22:25Speaker 1: there all the time. We are looking for him. Uh
- 22:28Speaker 1: and he'll turn that him there, Yeah, I see him there,
- 22:32Speaker 1: we got him, he'll turn up. It's Showbiz four one
- 22:35Speaker 1: one dot com, the great entertainment site. News stories every day. There,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Roger Friedman, how you doing, Roger Friedman? Are you there?
- 22:47Speaker 3: I am, Oh, there you are. I've just joured the
- 22:52Speaker 3: Grammy nominations.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so tell us about the Grammy nominations.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Well, uh, it's all the pop people who you know
- 23:02Speaker 3: on the radio if you're fourteen, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber,
- 23:07Speaker 3: they're the main names. Lady Gaga got seven nominations for
- 23:11Speaker 3: her Man Eater album and she's going to win. The
- 23:15Speaker 3: others are just superfluous in the traditional pop section, which
- 23:22Speaker 3: is more for you and me.
- 23:24Speaker 1: No, actually, I believe it or not. I listened to
- 23:25Speaker 1: Z one like that stuff.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Okay, I like see one hundred. Sabrina Carpenter, who I
- 23:30Speaker 3: just saw by the way at the garden and loved
- 23:33Speaker 3: her Manchild album and song got nominated. And that bunny
- 23:43Speaker 3: Billie Eilish got nominated for a song that I thought
- 23:45Speaker 3: came out the year before. But all right, but it's
- 23:50Speaker 3: Luther Kendrick Lamar for his song Luther with Sizza. Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 3: but those are the ones. But the really the category
- 23:58Speaker 3: that you and I would enjoy the most would be
- 24:03Speaker 3: traditional pop, and that's Barber streisand Jennifer Hudson, Elton John
- 24:11Speaker 3: and Brandy Carlisle. Uh, those are the main names. You
- 24:15Speaker 3: know who didn't get nominated for that category, which I
- 24:18Speaker 3: really would have liked to was Ringo Star. He had
- 24:19Speaker 3: this great country album called look Up, and they didn't
- 24:22Speaker 3: do anything for it. But I really liked that album.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I really liked it. But you know, I would say
- 24:33Speaker 3: that Chapel Rone she's nominated. But it's really the Grammys
- 24:40Speaker 3: are very narrow at this point because they're really just
- 24:43Speaker 3: looking at the top chart stars. They're they're they're looking
- 24:47Speaker 3: for a good TV show, which you can't blame them.
- 24:49Speaker 3: They want ratings, which are necessary to stay alive, and
- 24:54Speaker 3: they're not going into really uh like diverse or interesting
- 24:58Speaker 3: things you know, might surprise you, which they've done in
- 25:01Speaker 3: the past. This is a very straightforward list of you know,
- 25:06Speaker 3: top forty hits, commercial hits, that kind of thing.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Well, but that's what we did that in the nineties.
- 25:11Speaker 1: The two thousands. They we did that.
- 25:14Speaker 3: No, Yeah, it's been a little better in the past.
- 25:16Speaker 3: But the TV show February first, it'll be a big,
- 25:23Speaker 3: big show. And if they get some of these people,
- 25:27Speaker 3: if they get Loffe, she's do you know who she is? Yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 3: she's a fabulous singer around there, Phil being good shaped.
- 25:37Speaker 3: They nominated some Layla Bialily but for winter songs, and
- 25:45Speaker 3: we're going to have to look her up and see
- 25:46Speaker 3: who she is. Best new artist. Those are all good.
- 25:51Speaker 3: And this guy Somber. You know who Somber is? Yeah, Okay,
- 25:55Speaker 3: he's twenty years old. He's from the Lower East Side.
- 26:00Speaker 3: He's about nine feet tall. He's the son of the
- 26:05Speaker 3: guy who does all the booking for like the Elton
- 26:08Speaker 3: Shawn and am Fhar shows and that kind of thing.
- 26:11Speaker 3: He's got a big I never knew his name is
- 26:15Speaker 3: Andy Boose. I never knew that he was a musician himself.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And his son's name is Sean Boose and I guess
- 26:22Speaker 3: the middle initial is M, so it's SMB, and he
- 26:25Speaker 3: calls himself Somber. He's had two massive hits, are three
- 26:29Speaker 3: massive hits on the charts all year and a big
- 26:33Speaker 3: album into a Debut Album and he's going to win
- 26:36Speaker 3: Best New Artist. He is the Best New Artist. So
- 26:39Speaker 3: he's a real New York story. I think he dropped
- 26:43Speaker 3: out of school like seventeen to become a rock star
- 26:45Speaker 3: and became one sort of overnight wow. So that's a
- 26:48Speaker 3: big New York story.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Hey, where are the Grammys being held this year?
- 26:53Speaker 3: Grammys are in Los Angeles February first, from the what
- 26:56Speaker 3: I call the Staples Center, what others called the Crypto
- 27:00Speaker 3: crypt dot Com. And they'll be preceded by two events.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Music Cares Person of the Years of award on the
- 27:09Speaker 3: Friday of that weekend is going to Mariah Carey and
- 27:13Speaker 3: she'll show up sometime that evening, probably not on time,
- 27:16Speaker 3: but sometime that evening. The next night, Clive Davis throws
- 27:21Speaker 3: his annual pre Grammy dinner. He'll be almost ninety four
- 27:27Speaker 3: years old by then, Please God knock Wood, and it's
- 27:30Speaker 3: going to be that'll be an amazing night. So the
- 27:33Speaker 3: Grammy weekend is going to be terrific. And it's the
- 27:36Speaker 3: last Grammys. I believe it's the last Grammys on CBS.
- 27:42Speaker 3: CBS blew their chances to have the Grammys for the
- 27:44Speaker 3: next ten years and after this January goes to NBC.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Oh all right, yeah, Roger m tell me, what's the
- 27:53Speaker 1: deal with this Michael Jackson movie? Good Bad? What is it?
- 27:57Speaker 5: Oh?
- 27:57Speaker 3: So, the Michael Jackson movie. I'm looking forward to it.
- 28:00Speaker 3: But originally the plan was this is crazy. The plan
- 28:05Speaker 3: was to have a like three hour movie where they
- 28:08Speaker 3: were going to take you through the nineties and the
- 28:10Speaker 3: two thousands where he gets arrested and there's like you know,
- 28:14Speaker 3: molestation charging and trials and all this other stuff. And
- 28:18Speaker 3: finally someone came to their senses and said, nobody wants
- 28:21Speaker 3: to see that in the movie. So they went back.
- 28:23Speaker 3: They went back and made a film that ends, you know,
- 28:27Speaker 3: around the time of nineteen ninety like after Bad and
- 28:31Speaker 3: thriller and dangerous and when he's at the peak of
- 28:34Speaker 3: his career before the bad stuff comes, and that movie
- 28:38Speaker 3: will be terrific. And it's very similar in that way
- 28:41Speaker 3: to the MJ musical playing on Broadway and around the world,
- 28:44Speaker 3: which is a huge hit, by the way, huge And
- 28:47Speaker 3: that also stops at the end of the nineteen eighties
- 28:51Speaker 3: when Michael is at his peak powers and you know,
- 28:55Speaker 3: adored by everyone. The next twenty years are you know,
- 28:58Speaker 3: a crazy time that see that in a documentary, that's fine,
- 29:02Speaker 3: but nobody wants to see Michael going to court and
- 29:06Speaker 3: just not going to work.
- 29:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:08Speaker 3: So Jermaine Jackson's son Ja'far is playing Michael in the movie,
- 29:14Speaker 3: and there's a great cast that goes with it, and
- 29:19Speaker 3: there's going to be Walter Wall music. And my prediction
- 29:22Speaker 3: is it's going to be like Bohemian Rhapsody. People are
- 29:24Speaker 3: going to come out dancing and they're not going to
- 29:26Speaker 3: think about any bad stuff.
- 29:28Speaker 2: You know.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Despite the fact that Michael had all that scandal that
- 29:32Speaker 3: we covered extensively and minutely, he is still one of
- 29:37Speaker 3: the top ten recording artists in the world. His estate
- 29:40Speaker 3: is worth a billion dollars. The records sell like crazy.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Thriller has been on the charts for the last month
- 29:46Speaker 3: because of Halloween, So there's no question that the movie
- 29:51Speaker 3: will be a hit. But that's what the movie will be.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Now today, I hear they might make a second movie.
- 29:58Speaker 3: My advice is, do not make that suff movie. Stop
- 30:01Speaker 3: Stop well, well things are good, you know.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Hey, we all got that's we'll get a minute left.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Tell me tell me about Broadway. What's the hottest thing
- 30:08Speaker 1: on Broadway? The latest newest, hottest thing on Broadway.
- 30:12Speaker 3: The latest hottest news new thing on Broadway.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Tom Hanks.
- 30:17Speaker 3: I know Tom Hanks is off Broadway and he has
- 30:21Speaker 3: a show called This World or Tomorrow. The prices started
- 30:24Speaker 3: out at four hundred dollars a ticket, and nobody bought
- 30:28Speaker 3: the tickets. And tell a couple of last week that
- 30:31Speaker 3: you could buy a ticket on any night in any
- 30:33Speaker 3: section because no one was going to spend four hundred dollars.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Now they've cut the price by fifty seven percent. The
- 30:40Speaker 3: really good seats are two fifty nine, and decent seats
- 30:43Speaker 3: and very decent seats are one sixty nine. So now
- 30:46Speaker 3: everyone can see this play. Who wants to see a
- 30:48Speaker 3: regular play. I have friends who went in the first
- 30:50Speaker 3: week and said, it's a slight play, but charming in
- 30:53Speaker 3: the cast. It's wonderful to see them all on stage.
- 30:56Speaker 3: It's at the Shed in Hudson Yards. It's a small theater.
- 31:00Speaker 3: You can see Tom Hanks. You know you'll be able
- 31:02Speaker 3: to see him, really see him, and you know, I'm
- 31:06Speaker 3: probably not going to go, but I think a lot
- 31:07Speaker 3: of people will go. And already several nights are sold
- 31:10Speaker 3: out because at you know, one hundred and sixty nine
- 31:13Speaker 3: dollars a seat. People will go for that.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, good thing about Off Broadway. There's no bad
- 31:16Speaker 1: seats because it's a small theater you're close with.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, there are no bad seats. And then if you're
- 31:21Speaker 3: thirty years old or younger, the tickets are forty five dollars.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Okay, But if you're thirty or younger, you're not going
- 31:27Speaker 1: to know who this guy is. If this Tom.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Hanks, that might be a problem. Yeah, but you and
- 31:32Speaker 3: I would have gone at thirty years old because we're
- 31:34Speaker 3: old souls.
- 31:35Speaker 1: There you go. Well, great stuff, Roger Freeman. Check out
- 31:38Speaker 1: his website. There's new stories every day there. Showbiz for
- 31:41Speaker 1: one one dot com, Showbiz for one one dot com.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Roger Friedman, thanks for being with us, Thank you, take care, hey,
- 31:50Speaker 1: and now I'm here every day ten to noon. But
- 31:51Speaker 1: if you can't listen ten to noon, you know you
- 31:54Speaker 1: can always get the podcast. You can hear this show
- 31:56Speaker 1: anytime you want. And remember, if you're a podcast listener
- 31:59Speaker 1: on the weekends, you get a bonus segment, a whole
- 32:03Speaker 1: other segment that wasn't on the air. But you can
- 32:05Speaker 1: get the podcast of this show any place. You get
- 32:09Speaker 1: your podcast or you can just go to seven ten
- 32:11Speaker 1: WR dot com. I'm glad this week is over. It's
- 32:18Speaker 1: been a rough week here in New York. The good
- 32:21Speaker 1: news all the big Democratic politicians are gone right now.
- 32:24Speaker 1: They're gone all weekend. They're all in Puerto Rico. They
- 32:27Speaker 1: have this conference after every election. It started as after
- 32:34Speaker 1: the election, just to you know, unwind, go take a break.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Candidates will go down to Puerto Rico. But now it's
- 32:40Speaker 1: every Democratic politician, official lobbyist. It's a lot of wheeling
- 32:44Speaker 1: and dealing, whereas Curtis would say whining, dining, pocket lining,
- 32:49Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. So it goes on all weekend.
- 32:52Speaker 1: They'll be back on Monday. I'm just warning you, hey,
- 32:55Speaker 1: we're out of time. I'll be back Monday every weekday
- 32:57Speaker 1: ten to noon, or listen anytime get podcast and if
- 33:01Speaker 1: you're a podcast listener, remember you get a bonus segment
- 33:04Speaker 1: that was never on the air. You get an extra show.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Wherever you get your podcasts, I'll see a Monday at
- 33:09Speaker 1: ten seven ten woar
