- 0:43cap apply. Welcome to 70x80, the section of 7080
- 0:58.it that deepens the topics dealt with on the
- 1:01portal. I'm with the journalist Enzo Mauri, who
- 1:04introduces the topic today. Good morning, today
- 1:07I'm talking to you about strange devices from
- 1:08the past. In the past, when there was no current
- 1:12technology, the big brands, with the contribution
- 1:14of a crazy designer, went crazy in the attempt
- 1:17to make sound devices, radio and television,
- 1:21easy to transport. From the radio to the TV and
- 1:23the turntables, really curious products appeared
- 1:26on the market with the intention of attracting
- 1:27the attention of consumers. They probably succeeded,
- 1:31even if they often did not get the success that
- 1:33companies expected. For example, in the early
- 1:3570s, the banana -shaped turntable was put on
- 1:39the market, which thanks to a practice of gluing
- 1:40could be carried everywhere. It seems that the
- 1:43shape was inspired by the painting by Andy Warhol,
- 1:46which made the debut album of the Velvet Underground
- 1:49and Nico, released in 1967. As he recited, the
- 1:53advertising manifesto, the discs could be listened
- 1:56to in any position. The 45 laps was blocked by
- 2:00a spring clamp and the armrest literally waved
- 2:02the soles, a bit like traditional turntables,
- 2:05so much so that it was heavy and counterbalanced.
- 2:21The Tuta Loop Radio, or Panasonic R -72, was
- 2:25produced in 1972. Designed as a radio to wrap
- 2:28around the wrist, it could be customized with
- 2:31the appropriate stickers. It received only stations
- 2:33in AM, while the subsequent RF -72 model also
- 2:37those in FM. The portable radio had the shape
- 2:40of a bell with a lot of central hole. The smaller
- 2:42half separated from the large one forming an
- 2:45S. The tuner was inside. so the radio had to
- 2:49be open to be tuned. The volume, on the other
- 2:52hand, was external, so it could be adjusted with
- 2:54the radio both open and closed. The Tuta Loop
- 2:56was available in various colors, white, red,
- 2:59blue, yellow, lemon and orange. It also had an
- 3:01external jack for the mono earpiece. Thank you.
- 3:17Thank you. Thank you. The Supermicro Secret Batradio
- 3:55was nothing more than a transistor -equipped
- 3:59mini device with a keychain with the pipistrello
- 4:02emblem on both sides and an auricular one. Today
- 4:05it is highly sought after by collectors, valued
- 4:07at around $ 2 ,000. Become a true object of worship
- 4:11over the years, the Predicta was produced by
- 4:12the American Philco between 1958 and 1960. It
- 4:17was a black and white TV with a 17 or 21 -inch
- 4:20screen and it was the first TV to the world with
- 4:23the rotating screen, not exactly portable and
- 4:26suitable for the home environment, although lighter
- 4:28than the other commercial models. The iconic
- 4:31design conferred made it immediately popular
- 4:33thanks to the particular protective plastic in
- 4:36greenish tint with which the glass was coated.
- 4:38The Predicta also had a thinner telescope than
- 4:41many other televisions of the time, which led
- 4:44it to be marketed as the most futuristic television.
- 4:50The perfect combination of size, color, and design
- 4:53for today's televiewing needs. The screen swivels
- 4:57a full 350 degrees. And you get the best performance
