- 0:03Speaker 1: And there's Dan Lanning out there because no one can
- 0:05Speaker 1: yell at him. There is Lanning out on the field,
- 0:08Speaker 1: not focused on the opponent, not focused on his team,
- 0:11Speaker 1: not focused on the game.
- 0:12Speaker 2: He is focused on making Pat McAfee laugh. Enough. Terrible.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Terrible job by Lanning.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Dan Lanning is the Nick Saban of Mike Norvell's.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Who the hell is Dan Lanning?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Could at least give us Ben Johnson might be the
- 0:26Speaker 3: greatest coach ever.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Uh, no.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Knock if you agree with me.
- 0:32Speaker 5: Give me the frozen dungeon.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I know we're doing overreaction Mondays.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I would still be surprised. And it's Tuesday.
- 0:38Speaker 2: You got nothing right there.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It's time to get your pint.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Tomato, tomato.
- 0:43Speaker 3: There is no worse surprise than surprise Gouda.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I felt so bad for Arch Manning playing so poorly.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I was saying to myself, he doesn't have it.
- 0:50Speaker 2: He's not a Manning.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Everyone is a fraud.
- 0:53Speaker 4: This is Steve Spurrier, former Gator head ball coach.
- 0:57Speaker 3: And you've been listening to Stugatz and Company. Everyone is
- 1:01Speaker 3: a fraud. Surprise Gouda.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It is Stugatz and Company presented by FanDuel and the
- 1:06Speaker 1: FanDuel Sportsbook. Bobby Skinner, Giants Nation blogger, is going to
- 1:11Speaker 1: join us. Podcast is going to join us here in
- 1:13Speaker 1: about 15 to 20 minutes. Hour number two will be
- 1:16Speaker 1: Kentucky head coach Will Stein plus the weekend observations.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Guys, I think we need to start here. The Rams
- 1:23Speaker 2: are back.
- 1:27Speaker 3: So I think the story yesterday was more about the
- 1:30Speaker 3: Giants than the Rams.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Because if you're a Giants fan, that game lasted seven
- 1:36Speaker 3: plays for you because the second Jackson Dart went out,
- 1:40Speaker 3: pack your bags, go back to New York, game's over,
- 1:43Speaker 3: where there's something so cruel about football where last week,
- 1:46Speaker 3: week one, 25th anniversary of 9-11, you have that emotional win.
- 1:50Speaker 3: You have a Hall of Fame coach in John Harbaugh
- 1:53Speaker 3: coming to Resurrect your franchise. You have what looks like
- 1:56Speaker 3: a franchise quarterback in Jackson Dart. Giants fans riding high
- 2:00Speaker 3: after week one, and it all comes crashing down week two.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Yep.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I would say it was more about the Rams. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: understand what you're saying. The Giants, they suffered a number
- 2:08Speaker 1: of injuries. They avoided some really, really bad injuries, especially
- 2:12Speaker 1: at the quarterback spot to Jackson Dart, sprained MCL.
- 2:15Speaker 2: It could have been worse. He'll be out a bunch
- 2:17Speaker 2: of weeks here. We'll see.
- 2:18Speaker 1: We'll get a report later today. But the Rams were
- 2:21Speaker 1: a team that started 0-1-1. Had all their travels to Australia.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Everything was questioned. We talked about Rams of the field
- 2:28Speaker 1: headed into the season. And the Rams, without arguably their
- 2:32Speaker 1: two best players last night, Puka and Miles Garrett, get
- 2:37Speaker 1: a 28-6 win over a team.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I know they were banged up.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And that game probably is different if Jackson Dart stays
- 2:43Speaker 1: healthy in that game.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But we were talking about the Rams not making the playoffs.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And now here they are, 1-1.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And they blew out a team the way they should
- 2:50Speaker 1: blow out a team. And they did it without two
- 2:51Speaker 1: of their best players.
- 2:53Speaker 5: This whole we were talking about it. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:56Speaker 5: There wasn't no we talking about the Rams missing the playoffs.
- 3:01Speaker 5: We all know who it was, you.
- 3:04Speaker 6: What you're looking for is the Rams had a built-in
- 3:07Speaker 6: excuse in week one, and now the Giants have a
- 3:09Speaker 6: built-in excuse in week two. I mean, you won't find
- 3:12Speaker 6: a bigger fan of Jameis Winston than me. If you
- 3:17Speaker 6: gave me a bucket list of who I could have
- 3:19Speaker 6: on this podcast, Jameis Winston.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Is probably a top five guest.
- 3:24Speaker 6: But Jameis Winston, when he came in, was 11 for
- 3:27Speaker 6: 27 for 111 yards with an interception. And I got
- 3:31Speaker 6: to tell you, those numbers look better than it looked
- 3:34Speaker 6: on film. He looked so bad when you were watching.
- 3:39Speaker 5: There were wide open receivers that he was literally throwing
- 3:42Speaker 5: it at their feet.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yep.
- 3:43Speaker 5: It was hard to watch.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yes, that's why he's holding a clipboard, Mike.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Mikey, that performance was so horrific. And you could see
- 3:54Speaker 3: Jameis Winston on the sideline where you could– there was
- 3:57Speaker 3: one moment where you could lippery Jameis Winston. He was like,
- 4:00Speaker 3: I got to lock in. I got to lock in
- 4:01Speaker 3: because he knows in the moment how bad his performances
- 4:05Speaker 3: are where he's missing wide open throws. Now, I don't
- 4:07Speaker 3: think the Giants offensive line did him– many favors because
- 4:10Speaker 3: there was almost instant pressure on a lot of his dropbacks.
- 4:14Speaker 3: That interception was horrific where McDuffie shows why the Rams
- 4:18Speaker 3: go out and acquire him with that red zone interception.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It felt like the Rams were giving the Giants opportunities
- 4:23Speaker 3: to get back in the game, and Jameis Winston was like,
- 4:26Speaker 3: I have nothing for you guys right now. And, Stu,
- 4:28Speaker 3: I'm watching that game from my couch yesterday, and I
- 4:30Speaker 3: kind of had the realization– Everybody wants the Jameis Winston
- 4:34Speaker 3: game until it's time for the Jameis Winston game.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Well, the Jameis Winston game they want is the good game,
- 4:39Speaker 1: but sometimes it's a really, really bad game.
- 4:42Speaker 2: He will, but he'll also have what he did last night.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Which is a dreadful, terrible game that reminds you as
- 4:48Speaker 1: to why the former number one pick is a career backup.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I mean.
- 4:53Speaker 6: I would also tell you that Brian Dayball is supposed
- 4:55Speaker 6: to be this offensive genius, and I was.
- 4:59Speaker 5: Calling the Giants' plays... Brian D'Abel is in Tennessee. I'm sorry.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Who am I thinking of?
- 5:22Speaker 2: They're not much better, by the way. Matt Nagy?
- 5:25Speaker 5: Might as well be. That's the one.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Matt Nagy. Dayball, Nagy, tomato, tomato.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Same thing.
- 5:33Speaker 3: So, Stu, I think the biggest win last night would
- 5:36Speaker 3: be the fact that it seems like Jackson Dart is
- 5:40Speaker 3: not going to miss a significant amount of time. He
- 5:43Speaker 3: avoided a major injury. There was that moment where you
- 5:45Speaker 3: see the trainer talking to Harbaugh and you could lip
- 5:49Speaker 3: read the trainer where people think the trainer said four
- 5:52Speaker 3: to six weeks, by the way, underrated skill being able
- 5:54Speaker 3: to lip read.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I'd like to be able to do it. I can't,
- 5:58Speaker 2: I'm terrible at it. I can't see.
- 6:00Speaker 5: I can't hear.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Well, I don't have to when I'm lip reading.
- 6:08Speaker 3: But the fact that it seems like Jackson Dart avoided
- 6:10Speaker 3: major injury where they're saying after the game, he, he
- 6:14Speaker 3: tried to go back into the game and, and, Maybe
- 6:16Speaker 3: if it's not a Week 2 game and there's some
- 6:19Speaker 3: bigger stakes attached to the game, Jackson Dart actually does
- 6:22Speaker 3: come back in that game. But if he does miss
- 6:24Speaker 3: four to six weeks, that's the only negative to this game.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Because I think if you told Giants fans after Week
- 6:30Speaker 3: 2 they'd be 1-1, almost every Giants fan would sign
- 6:34Speaker 3: up for that. It just now comes with the caveat...
- 6:36Speaker 3: you're now missing your potential franchise quarterback.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Well, it's 1-1 against the Cowboys and the Rams. Yes,
- 6:40Speaker 2: they would take that.
- 6:41Speaker 1: If you told them before the season, hey, you'd be
- 6:43Speaker 1: 1-1 after two games, that means they beat the Cowboys
- 6:46Speaker 1: or the Rams. And, yes, most Giant fans would take it.
- 6:48Speaker 1: They would not take their quarterback being hurt. By the way,
- 6:51Speaker 1: that's the way. I mean, that was an injury. That
- 6:53Speaker 1: was not Jackson Dart trying to run. That was not
- 6:55Speaker 1: him out of the pocket. That was a legit hit.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And I wonder how Bears fans feel today when they
- 7:00Speaker 1: hear that Jackson Dart, who was hit, wanted to try
- 7:04Speaker 1: to get back into the game, and Caleb Williams, who
- 7:07Speaker 1: wasn't hit at all, didn't want to try to come
- 7:10Speaker 1: back in that game. I just wonder how Bears fans
- 7:12Speaker 1: experience that. Why are you laughing, Mikey? I know you
- 7:15Speaker 1: were thinking it.
- 7:16Speaker 5: They are a sensitive bunch, those Bears fans, man.
- 7:19Speaker 2: They are.
- 7:20Speaker 6: You say one bad thing about Caleb Williams, and they're like,
- 7:23Speaker 6: you don't know, man.
- 7:25Speaker 5: You never had that.
- 7:26Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 6: I'm also not being paid millions of dollars to, you know,
- 7:33Speaker 6: cry on a cart for a grade one.
- 7:35Speaker 1: No, but I love it as if they know what
- 7:36Speaker 1: it's like to play quarterback in the NFL.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Going back to the Giants, though, I would say they're
- 7:45Speaker 6: a good one in one and they have a really
- 7:47Speaker 6: good win against the quality team. And they have a
- 7:50Speaker 6: built in excuse in losing the second game. So you
- 7:54Speaker 6: could go see, like, I look at the Jets and
- 7:56Speaker 6: I think that's.
- 7:57Speaker 5: An awful one in one.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Right. Because you should have won that game. No, I know,
- 8:01Speaker 2: but you're playing the result there.
- 8:02Speaker 1: If you told Jet fans before the season they'd be 1-1,
- 8:04Speaker 1: they'd take it, right?
- 8:05Speaker 2: Sure. Yes.
- 8:07Speaker 5: That's the difference. It's not only the record, but it's
- 8:11Speaker 5: how it happened. Right.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Like the Browns are a good 1-1. The Ravens are
- 8:15Speaker 2: an awful 1-1. Is that fair?
- 8:17Speaker 5: Yes. Yes.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Mikey, the only reason why I'll push back on it,
- 8:22Speaker 3: I'm not quite sure the Giants are a good 1-1,
- 8:25Speaker 3: is because... Yes, the Rams should be one of the
- 8:28Speaker 3: Super Bowl favorites, but your offensive and defensive lines got
- 8:32Speaker 3: absolutely pushed around. If you're the Giants, where we hear
- 8:35Speaker 3: so much about the Giants' pass rush, they could not
- 8:38Speaker 3: get any pressure on Matthew Stafford, where their pressure rate
- 8:41Speaker 3: was nearly 25% below NFL average. And then you're watching
- 8:45Speaker 3: their offensive line get manhandled by the Rams' defensive front.
- 8:51Speaker 3: And Cam Scadaboo? Cam Scadaboo almost had no chance yesterday because...
- 8:56Speaker 3: All his yards basically came after contact. But Cam Scadaboo,
- 8:59Speaker 3: if you need two yards, Cam Scadaboo could get you
- 9:02Speaker 3: two yards. If you need five yards, Cam Scadaboo is
- 9:04Speaker 3: going to get you two yards.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Plus his mind was in the locker room with Jackson
- 9:07Speaker 1: Dart because, God forbid, he separated from Jackson Dart for
- 9:10Speaker 1: more than 15 minutes.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Seriously, Scadaboo was losing his mind. What are you saying?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Scadaboo can only get you two yards?
- 9:19Speaker 6: Two yards at a time, yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Put it on the poll.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Can Cam Scadaboo only get you two yards at a time?
- 9:27Speaker 1: I want to go through the one-on-one teams and see
- 9:30Speaker 1: who's a good one-on-one and who's a bad one-on-one.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But go ahead, Taylor. You had something else there.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say, when it gets announced
- 9:37Speaker 3: that Puka Nakua is out for this game, then you're
- 9:42Speaker 3: starting to shift your mindset and be like, oh, maybe
- 9:43Speaker 3: the Giants could pull this upset. Devontae Adams had a
- 9:47Speaker 3: night where he just turns back the clock, eight catches,
- 9:49Speaker 3: 195 yards, two touchdowns. You're watching that game and you're like, Giants,
- 9:54Speaker 3: figure out a different plan for Devontae Adams.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Adams kills you or whoever the Rams number two is
- 10:02Speaker 3: with Pukunuku out, I'd rather take those chances because Devontae Adams,
- 10:07Speaker 3: for the most part, was wide open the entire night.
- 10:09Speaker 1: There's a good chance they're going to Devontae Adams, is
- 10:11Speaker 1: your point, when Puka Nakua is not playing. You say
- 10:15Speaker 1: turn back the clock, and I would say turn it
- 10:17Speaker 1: back to last year. Devontae had a couple of games
- 10:19Speaker 1: like that just a year ago. He's been great as
- 10:21Speaker 1: a ram. He leads the NFL, I'm telling you, all
- 10:24Speaker 1: time in the history of the NFL of guys who
- 10:26Speaker 1: will have that game.
- 10:27Speaker 2: The game he had last night where it's just eye popping.
- 10:30Speaker 1: You open up the box score in the morning and
- 10:32Speaker 1: it's eight catches, 195 yards and two touchdowns.
- 10:35Speaker 2: He does that pretty often. I mean, he does.
- 10:36Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Last season, I know he was battling injuries, but
- 10:40Speaker 3: he had 789 yards. He basically got like 25% of
- 10:44Speaker 3: his yards from last season just yesterday against the Giants,
- 10:47Speaker 3: which seems crazy.
- 10:48Speaker 1: No, I know he was battling injuries. I'm just saying
- 10:50Speaker 1: he had some big games last year.
- 10:51Speaker 3: He has those games.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, he has those games.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I had a situation where I was trailing by like
- 10:57Speaker 1: 25 points in my fantasy game.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Jackson Dart went down. I thought it was done. Done, over.
- 11:01Speaker 1: The other guy had Isaiah Likely.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I thought I was done. And then I realized I
- 11:05Speaker 2: have Devontae Adams. And I won.
- 11:08Speaker 3: 40.9.
- 11:08Speaker 2: How about that?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Mikey, I think my favorite moment from this game yesterday
- 11:15Speaker 3: was after the game where Sean McVay is talking about
- 11:18Speaker 3: the travel plans from Australia. And to Sean McVay's credit,
- 11:23Speaker 3: he put his hand up because he said, sometimes you
- 11:26Speaker 3: win and sometimes you learn. Sometimes you have a dumbass
- 11:29Speaker 3: coach who makes travel plans that put you in a
- 11:31Speaker 3: bad spot, which is kind of what everybody was saying
- 11:34Speaker 3: when they were like, what are the Rams thinking with
- 11:36Speaker 3: these travel plans?
- 11:36Speaker 2: That's taking the heat off of Todd in accounting. How
- 11:38Speaker 2: about that? Is he still hired there? Is he still there?
- 11:44Speaker 2: So he is taking responsibility.
- 11:47Speaker 1: For the 0-1 start. He is admitting, he is acknowledging,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and we have spent way too much time talking about
- 11:53Speaker 1: how to travel to Australia, but he's acknowledging that his
- 11:55Speaker 1: way was the wrong way, yes?
- 11:58Speaker 3: He called himself a dumbass.
- 12:01Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I don't know what to do with McVay. I want
- 12:03Speaker 1: to like him. I should like him. He makes jokes
- 12:06Speaker 1: about himself. He doesn't take himself that seriously, yet he
- 12:09Speaker 1: does at the same time. It's a weird vibe, okay?
- 12:12Speaker 1: He'll say things which make you think he doesn't take
- 12:15Speaker 1: himself too seriously. And then he wears sunglasses inside like
- 12:20Speaker 1: he's a fighter pilot and does a 60-minute interview, and
- 12:23Speaker 1: I want to punch him in the face.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I don't know what to do with McVay.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I'm so torn on my emotions and feelings towards the
- 12:28Speaker 1: Rams coach. He seems like a guy I would love,
- 12:32Speaker 1: yet I can't find a spot in my heart where
- 12:35Speaker 1: consistently I love the guy.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Perhaps I feel like I'm looking in the mirror. I
- 12:39Speaker 2: don't know what it is. It's like an irrational confidence
- 12:41Speaker 2: that he has.
- 12:43Speaker 3: What I think it is... It's the L.A. factor where
- 12:47Speaker 3: that L.A. Rams team, I don't know any L.A. Rams
- 12:51Speaker 3: teams or L.A. Rams fans where they are probably the
- 12:54Speaker 3: best team in sports that are the most irrelevant in
- 12:57Speaker 3: terms of the national perception of them.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Because L.A. doesn't care or we just don't care?
- 13:03Speaker 3: I think we need to get McVay to a franchise
- 13:09Speaker 3: that evokes some kind of emotion out of people. If
- 13:11Speaker 3: he was the Cowboys coach where it's easier to hate him,
- 13:14Speaker 3: or if he was the Jets coach where it's like, okay,
- 13:16Speaker 3: I want to root for this guy. When he's out
- 13:18Speaker 3: there for the L.A. Rams, it's kind of like, okay,
- 13:20Speaker 3: whatever you're doing out there, it really doesn't matter in
- 13:23Speaker 3: the grand scheme of things.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Let's be clear. He's never going to be the Jets coach.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Mikey made a face when I said I feel like
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm looking in the mirror. I am nothing like Sean McVay.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I don't know what I was thinking there.
- 13:31Speaker 6: I was going to say, what funhouse mirror are you
- 13:33Speaker 6: looking in that you see Sean McVay?
- 13:35Speaker 5: That's like me saying when I look in the mirror,
- 13:37Speaker 5: I see Dan Campbell.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Like, no, no. Very different.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Someone should invent a mirror where if you look into it,
- 13:45Speaker 1: if I look into it, I turn into who, like,
- 13:47Speaker 1: it's a McVeigh mirror, okay? And what's looking back at
- 13:50Speaker 1: me is someone who looks like Sean McVeigh.
- 13:52Speaker 2: It'd make me feel better about myself. But you're right.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I'm sorry I said that.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I regret saying it.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I regretted it as it was coming out of my mouth.
- 14:04Speaker 1: When I look in the mirror, perhaps I see myself.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I don't know what I was thinking there because he
- 14:08Speaker 1: and I are nothing alike. Just maybe the irrational confidence.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I want to go through the one-on-one teams here before
- 14:13Speaker 1: we get to Bobby Skinner. Let's determine who's a good
- 14:17Speaker 1: one-on-one and who is a bad one-on-one here.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I have these standings pulled up here. You have them, Mikey?
- 14:24Speaker 5: I do. I'll throw them out, and we'll just go
- 14:26Speaker 5: quickly through them.
- 14:26Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Baltimore. Baltimore.
- 14:29Speaker 1: That's a bad 1-1. Are we playing the results, or
- 14:31Speaker 1: if you ask me before the season?
- 14:35Speaker 5: You can play it however you want to play it.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I mean, you just played the results of the.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Jets, and then I asked you before the season, and
- 14:40Speaker 1: you take it. Baltimore is a bad 1-1.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Taylor?
- 14:44Speaker 3: I think Baltimore is a good 1-1. They just got chucked.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Okay. All right. Next one, Mike.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Cleveland.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Good 1-1.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Bad 1-1. I hate that quarterback.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I know you do.
- 14:56Speaker 6: It's a long-term bad 1-1 because now that's one more
- 14:59Speaker 6: game he gets.
- 15:01Speaker 5: I get you.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:01Speaker 1: No, we all understand that, but I'm doing it from
- 15:04Speaker 1: fan expectations.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Browns fans are happy with their 1-1 start. Raven fans
- 15:09Speaker 2: are not. That's all. Okay. Pittsburgh. Yeah. They're always 1-1.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I've got this as a terrible one-on-one. I hate that quarterback, too.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I know. Do it by not.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Don't do it by how you feel about the quarterback.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Do it by how you think the fan base feels
- 15:28Speaker 1: about their one-on-one story.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I'm doing it by the fact that if you're a
- 15:32Speaker 3: Steelers fan and you're watching the Steelers after two games
- 15:35Speaker 3: and you're sitting at one-on-one, you're not feeling good because
- 15:38Speaker 3: of what Aaron Rodgers has put on tape.
- 15:40Speaker 1: That is fair. It's... But they're numb to it. I mean,
- 15:44Speaker 1: they're 1-1. It's a good 1-1.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It's fine. It's benign. I don't care about the Steelers.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Dallas.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Lost to the Giants.
- 15:57Speaker 1: That game in the first half was close against Washington
- 16:00Speaker 1: until Jaden went down. All the hype coming into the season.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'm going to say that's a loss to the Giants.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Bad 1-1. Taylor?
- 16:09Speaker 3: Bad 1-1 because of the divisional loss. Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 5: And the divisional win.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Right. But you can't lose to the Giants.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Nope, just wanted to point it out.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Okay, thank you.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Green Bay.
- 16:23Speaker 3: This is a terrible one-on-one.
- 16:25Speaker 5: This is a terrible one-on-one. Why are you even thinking
- 16:27Speaker 5: about this? This is a terrible one-on-one.
- 16:28Speaker 3: It should be an 0-2.
- 16:29Speaker 1: No, but they were staring 0-2 right in the face,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and now they're 1-1 and have some relief. And Micah
- 16:34Speaker 1: Parsons will come back eventually.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Yeah, but.
- 16:39Speaker 3: The 1-1 you were staring in the face, the 0-2
- 16:41Speaker 3: you were staring in the face, the Jets were on
- 16:43Speaker 3: the other side of that.
- 16:44Speaker 1: No, I understand that, but they pulled one out. I mean,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and got themselves to 1-1. If you told the fan
- 16:50Speaker 1: base before the year, would they be happy with the Packers?
- 16:54Speaker 5: We've got like 10 more teams to get to here
- 16:56Speaker 5: in like two minutes.
- 16:56Speaker 2: To do it.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I know, the whole season is 1-1. Who the Packers play,
- 17:00Speaker 1: the whole league is 1-1. Who the Packers play the
- 17:02Speaker 1: first game?
- 17:04Speaker 5: Vikings.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Ooh, they lost it. It's a bad one-on-one. I'm sorry.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it took 20 minutes to get where Taylor and
- 17:13Speaker 5: I were.
- 17:13Speaker 2: The Saints.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 17:16Speaker 2: That's a good one-on-one. The Saints are a good one-on-one.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Good one-on-one.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Giants.
- 17:21Speaker 1: They feel like they should be 2-0, but they have
- 17:23Speaker 1: a quarterback, and it's a good one-on-one. The Giants, that's
- 17:25Speaker 1: a good one-on-one.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Giants, it's a bad one-on-one because you lost Jackson Dark.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I know, but whatever.
- 17:31Speaker 5: The Chicago Bears.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Bad one-on-one. I mean, just.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Carolina, good. Vikings, bad. Lost their quarterback. Ben Johnson wants
- 17:43Speaker 1: to break the scoring record. He's not going to do
- 17:46Speaker 1: it scoring three points in a game.
- 17:49Speaker 2: It's a bad one-on-one. It's a bad one-on-one.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I'm going to say it's a good one-on-one just because
- 17:53Speaker 3: Ben Johnson can lean on the crutch of bad elements
- 17:56Speaker 3: in the Week 2 loss.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah, can't do that.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Denver Broncos.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Wow.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Who did they play Week 1 again? I forget. chiefs
- 18:10Speaker 2: they played the chiefs they.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Got emotional patrick mahomes return.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yes yeah yeah but mahomes didn't do much it was
- 18:16Speaker 1: a lot of kenneth walker mahomes ran for some touchdowns
- 18:19Speaker 1: god does he look good um i'll say a good
- 18:24Speaker 1: one and one good one and one taylor good one
- 18:27Speaker 1: and one yeah all right next team arizona card is.
- 18:31Speaker 2: The whole league one and one I've.
- 18:34Speaker 5: Got literally one, two, three, four, five, six more after this.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Arizona has to be a good one-on-one.
- 18:40Speaker 2: They have to be a good one-on-one.
- 18:41Speaker 1: No one's expecting them to be one-on-one, including their coach,
- 18:43Speaker 1: including their quarterback.
- 18:44Speaker 2: They're one-on-one. They'll take it.
- 18:47Speaker 3: I think this is about as bad a one-on-one as
- 18:49Speaker 3: you could be because Cardinals need to be in position
- 18:52Speaker 3: to win the draft. They're not trying to win games.
- 18:55Speaker 3: You have to win the draft. Any win you have,
- 18:57Speaker 3: bad win if you're.
- 18:58Speaker 2: In the Cardinals. All right, next one.
- 19:00Speaker 5: The Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Wow, lost to Denver on the road.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It's tough because you want to see them go to
- 19:09Speaker 1: Denver and actually win that game. They had a lead
- 19:11Speaker 1: in the first half. You want to see if Trevor Lawrence.
- 19:13Speaker 2: And Jacksonville has actually changed as an organization, and they haven't.
- 19:16Speaker 2: So I'm going to say a bad one and one.
- 19:18Speaker 2: They did last year. No, I know.
- 19:20Speaker 5: Last year.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I know, but that was last year. I mean, that
- 19:24Speaker 1: was then. This is now, Mikey. I'm going to say
- 19:26Speaker 1: a bad one and one for Jacksonville.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Taylor? Taylor?
- 19:29Speaker 3: I think this is a good one and one. I've
- 19:31Speaker 3: liked what I've seen from Trevor Lawrence. I know he
- 19:33Speaker 3: lost that game against Denver, but it wasn't really Trevor
- 19:36Speaker 3: Lawrence's fault if you watched that game.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Well, I did watch that game, clearly. So anyway, next team.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Listen, if you like or you don't like what you've
- 19:44Speaker 5: seen in Trevor Lawrence, just wait. The Detroit Lions.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Wow.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Oh, boy. Who'd they play week one? They beat the Saints, right?
- 19:56Speaker 5: They beat the Saints.
- 19:57Speaker 1: They won a game they should have lost, and then
- 19:59Speaker 1: they lost again. Who'd they lose to in week two?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Bills, Thursday night.
- 20:10Speaker 2: It's a good one-on-one.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I like it. Yeah, I'm not going to hold it
- 20:14Speaker 3: against them that they lost to the Buffalo Bills.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yeah, good one-on-one.
- 20:18Speaker 5: Carolina Panthers.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Great one-on-one. The most exciting one-on-one in the history of
- 20:22Speaker 2: the NFL. Yes. I can't get enough of them. Bryce
- 20:27Speaker 2: Young is good, right? That's it? Like, he's good? We've
- 20:29Speaker 2: seen enough? He's good? He's a guy you want to
- 20:32Speaker 2: be your quarterback for the next 10, 15 years. Nope.
- 20:36Speaker 6: I think I'd rather have Dave Canales as my head
- 20:37Speaker 6: coach than Bryce Young as my quarterback.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Put it on the poll.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Would you rather have Canales as your head coach than
- 20:43Speaker 1: Bryce Young as your quarterback?
- 20:44Speaker 2: Taylor, good one-on-one, bad one-on-one, exciting one-on-one?
- 20:48Speaker 3: It's a good one-on-one. I think it's the same situation
- 20:51Speaker 3: you have in Chicago where I'd rather have Ben Johnson
- 20:53Speaker 3: for the next 10 years than Caleb Williams. Again, if
- 20:56Speaker 3: you gave me the choice.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't. You guys are crazy. Next team, Mikey.
- 21:02Speaker 5: The New York Jets.
- 21:04Speaker 2: It's a good one-on-one.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you. I mean, you
- 21:07Speaker 1: didn't think they were going to beat Tennessee. They beat Tennessee,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and they should have beaten Green Bay. They should be 2-0.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I understand the frustration. But if you told me before
- 21:15Speaker 1: the season that Jets would look competent and be 1-1
- 21:19Speaker 1: through two games, I'd take it.
- 21:20Speaker 2: It's a good 1-1.
- 21:22Speaker 3: They looked competent until they didn't look competent, though. So
- 21:25Speaker 3: I think it's trending towards a bad 1-1.
- 21:27Speaker 2: It's a terrible 1-1. It's an awful 1-1.
- 21:31Speaker 5: You should have won both games.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You didn't.
- 21:33Speaker 5: You should be 2-0.
- 21:34Speaker 2: You're the host. You shouldn't be playing the game. I mean,
- 21:36Speaker 2: you haven't commented on any of the team.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Don't care.
- 21:40Speaker 2: It's a good 1-1, Mikey. You know it's a good 1-1.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I mean.
- 21:44Speaker 5: It's not.
- 21:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 21:45Speaker 5: The New England Patriots.
- 21:46Speaker 2: That's a, well, it's a good 1-1. It is. It's
- 21:49Speaker 2: a solid 1-1.
- 21:50Speaker 3: It's a great 1-1.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yes, it's a great 1-1. Yeah, they're going to be good.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Last team, because we've gone through all of them.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Good.
- 21:58Speaker 5: The Los Angeles Rams.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Okay. Hmm.
- 22:05Speaker 5: They're back.
- 22:06Speaker 3: That was a great one and one.
- 22:10Speaker 2: They are back. That's a good one and one. It's
- 22:12Speaker 2: a good. Now, if you told the rant, we were
- 22:14Speaker 2: talking about.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Them being undefeated, but they lost the game in Australia
- 22:17Speaker 1: to San Francisco, but they come back and redeem themselves,
- 22:20Speaker 1: I guess, against the Giants 28 to 6 last night.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And they did it without Puka, and they did it
- 22:26Speaker 1: without Miles Garrett. So that's important. That's a good one
- 22:29Speaker 1: and one. They're still the best team in the NFL.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Team to beat.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Bobby Skinner, Giants Nation podcast is going to join us next.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Get us updated on all the injuries and what transpired
- 22:40Speaker 1: last night in Los Angeles. A dejected Bobby Skinner is
- 22:55Speaker 1: with us right now. He looks like he just had
- 22:57Speaker 1: a rough, rough night. He is the host of Giants
- 22:59Speaker 1: Nation podcast. Bobby, how was your evening last night? You
- 23:04Speaker 1: look like a.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Misery, man.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Sunday night football last week, I was like, man, I'm
- 23:10Speaker 4: staying up until 3 in the morning.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I'm getting stuff scheduled for the morning.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Wake up at 6 a.m. And then today it's like,
- 23:16Speaker 4: all right, I guess we'll do our normal day after
- 23:19Speaker 4: the game routine. And it's even worse because now everything's
- 23:22Speaker 4: crammed because it's a short week. So it's like, all right,
- 23:24Speaker 4: I have to start prep for the Titans already. So
- 23:27Speaker 4: just a normal Giants game where they get blown out.
- 23:30Speaker 4: And their four best players get injured. So it was,
- 23:33Speaker 4: it was a beautiful evening for the New York giants.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Uh, put us there when their most important player, Jackson dart,
- 23:39Speaker 1: who was not scrambling.
- 23:40Speaker 2: He was just playing quarterback.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Uh, put us there with Bobby Skinner, where Jackson dark
- 23:44Speaker 1: goes down and goes out of the game.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Oh, well, you think it's it? I mean, he's laying
- 23:49Speaker 4: on the ground and you know, the rest of the
- 23:50Speaker 4: giants players are like Simba, like with Mufasa, like, are
- 23:53Speaker 4: you dead? Um, Then he walks off, and then you
- 23:56Speaker 4: have all these Twitter, like you have the Twitter doctors
- 23:58Speaker 4: being like, yep, torn ACL and MCL. You got, you know,
- 24:02Speaker 4: a trainer mouthing four to six weeks. He's walking off,
- 24:06Speaker 4: and then Jordan Renan says that, you know, he tried
- 24:08Speaker 4: to come back in the game. Joe Shane, who has
- 24:11Speaker 4: tried the calm nerves before, saying he's going to be okay,
- 24:14Speaker 4: so you don't trust that. So it's looking like a
- 24:16Speaker 4: two to four week. But in that moment, it's just like, oh,
- 24:19Speaker 4: my gosh. Like, every good thing that would happen this week.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Now I have to deal with a year missing the quarterback.
- 24:26Speaker 4: And that being a reason why, hey, we're staying the
- 24:29Speaker 4: course with this. Of course nothing went well. We lost
- 24:32Speaker 4: our quarterback. But it's looking like they avoided the disaster.
- 24:37Speaker 4: My real worry, though, is these next four games, they're
- 24:39Speaker 4: the most winnable four-game stretch for the Giants. And was
- 24:43Speaker 4: hoping to come out of that 4-2, 5-1. Now it's like,
- 24:46Speaker 4: all right, now you got to stay above water.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Bobby, what's your level of confidence with Jameis Winston? Because
- 24:52Speaker 3: I think a lot of people were not optimistic, but
- 24:56Speaker 3: thought that Jameis Winston could kind of at least hold
- 24:58Speaker 3: his own. And he was a disaster on Monday Night Football.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah, we did a backup quarterback rankings before the season.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Just like, hey, where is Jameis? Now, I've always been
- 25:08Speaker 4: the person. I was like, yeah, if you have a
- 25:09Speaker 4: good backup quarterback, that's still a bad QB in the NFL.
- 25:13Speaker 4: But you didn't think he'd look like that, right? The
- 25:15Speaker 4: bad of Jameis is throwing three interceptions and being overly aggressive.
- 25:19Speaker 4: But he lacked zip on the ball. I don't think
- 25:24Speaker 4: you're going to get that going forward. I'm not saying
- 25:26Speaker 4: he's going to play good. He could throw three interceptions
- 25:28Speaker 4: against the Tennessee Titans this week. But I think he's
- 25:31Speaker 4: going to look more in control. He's not completing less
- 25:34Speaker 4: than 50% of his passes. I mean, that was just
- 25:36Speaker 4: brutal what they had last night with him. So I
- 25:40Speaker 4: don't think you get that bad going forward. But is
- 25:44Speaker 4: he going to be good enough to win games? That's
- 25:46Speaker 4: the big question.
- 25:46Speaker 2: For the Giants. What are you hearing on Jackson Dart
- 25:49Speaker 2: in terms of how much time he's going to be out?
- 25:52Speaker 4: Rappaport said last night it's a sprained MCL. Timetable, haven't
- 25:57Speaker 4: heard anything. Obviously the Giants are going to be optimistic
- 26:01Speaker 4: about that, but they're not going to say anything publicly.
- 26:04Speaker 4: You look at it, it's like the sprained MCL is
- 26:06Speaker 4: kind of like a two to four week thing. I
- 26:09Speaker 4: can definitely see Dart trying to tough it out after
- 26:12Speaker 4: this Titans game this week and trying to fight through that.
- 26:16Speaker 4: I've seen Andrew Thomas play like a half a season
- 26:21Speaker 4: on a spring in MCL. Obviously, it's different playing tackle
- 26:23Speaker 4: versus quarterback, but it looks like a month at most
- 26:28Speaker 4: type of injury for him.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Bobby, outside of the quarterback position, would you say you
- 26:32Speaker 3: were more concerned after last night with the offensive line
- 26:36Speaker 3: performance or the defensive line performance where they were only
- 26:39Speaker 3: able to pressure Matthew Stafford on less than 10% of
- 26:43Speaker 3: his drawbacks.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Absolutely the defensive line. Yeah, I mean, like you mentioned,
- 26:47Speaker 4: it was 10% of pressure. They double teamed Abdul Carter
- 26:52Speaker 4: basically the whole game. And then Brian Burns, another guy
- 26:56Speaker 4: who got injured, was just quiet, right? And that was
- 26:57Speaker 4: kind of my worry with Burns is coming off that
- 27:00Speaker 4: 16-sack season. I'm like, I don't know if he's consistently
- 27:03Speaker 4: getting after it. Will he be able to keep this up?
- 27:05Speaker 4: It's been a quiet time for him. Kayvon isn't there.
- 27:08Speaker 4: But like, The secondary, they have one player who's not
- 27:12Speaker 4: a below-average player in Javon Hall.
- 27:14Speaker 2: He's the only one.
- 27:14Speaker 4: The linebacker, Reese, has looked like a rookie. The run
- 27:19Speaker 4: game is going to be weak with the defensive tackles.
- 27:20Speaker 4: That's supposed to be their one strength. And the Rams
- 27:24Speaker 4: did a good job to marginalize it, but to get
- 27:27Speaker 4: basically nothing out of it except for one Abdul-Kardasak and
- 27:30Speaker 4: a Brian Burns hit, you can't live like that, especially
- 27:34Speaker 4: against Stafford, who will just dice you up.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Bobby, if I told you before this season, I know
- 27:39Speaker 2: today is a tough day.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I know you're dealing with injuries. I know Jameis is
- 27:41Speaker 1: the quarterback now. It's a roller coaster. You have no
- 27:44Speaker 1: idea if he's going to be good or bad week
- 27:46Speaker 1: to week. But if I told you before this season, hey, Cowboys, Rams,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you'll start 1-1.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Would you take it?
- 27:51Speaker 3: 100%.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Like 100% of the time. The issue is if you said, hey,
- 27:57Speaker 4: you start 1-1, now you've got Titans, Cardinals, Commanders, Saints.
- 28:03Speaker 4: But Jackson Dart may be injured for that stretch. Then
- 28:06Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, I'll take 0-2 going into that
- 28:09Speaker 4: stretch if he's healthy.
- 28:10Speaker 5: So that's the thing that throws. One and one.
- 28:14Speaker 4: I'm not mourning last night's loss a ton. The defensive issues,
- 28:18Speaker 4: I think those showed against the Rams. I want them
- 28:20Speaker 4: to be good against bad quarterbacks this year. It's a
- 28:22Speaker 4: low bar. But not having Dart for this stretch, that's
- 28:26Speaker 4: where it's like, all right, if you don't come out
- 28:27Speaker 4: of this four-game stretch on the right side of that,
- 28:31Speaker 4: and you're Three and three, three and four. Well, then
- 28:36Speaker 4: it's just a rough sledding for the, you know, tough sledding.
- 28:40Speaker 5: For the Giants.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Meaning the schedule gets tough after these four games, right?
- 28:43Speaker 4: Yeah, then you get the Texans. And obviously things change
- 28:46Speaker 4: year to year. And, you know, another team's quarterback will
- 28:48Speaker 4: get injured. But this whole schedule has been looking at
- 28:51Speaker 4: these four games. They're like, take care of these four games.
- 28:53Speaker 4: If you go into one-on-one, then you're playing with a
- 28:55Speaker 4: little bit of house money. But now it's like, all right, like,
- 29:00Speaker 4: will the Giants be favored in these games? With without
- 29:03Speaker 4: Jackson Dart, I don't know. But these four games are
- 29:06Speaker 4: so important because if you don't if you don't have
- 29:07Speaker 4: a winning record in these four, you're screwed going forward.
- 29:11Speaker 6: Bobby, what's your concern level with Malik neighbors? Because, I mean,
- 29:15Speaker 6: it was questionable whether he was going to play week one.
- 29:17Speaker 6: Then he plays through it, doesn't have a great game
- 29:20Speaker 6: that he plays week two. He gets hurt with his shoulder,
- 29:22Speaker 6: comes back in the game. But he just he doesn't
- 29:24Speaker 6: look like the record breaking receiver we all expect him
- 29:28Speaker 6: to be.
- 29:30Speaker 4: I mean, short term, I felt like Trent McDuffie kind
- 29:33Speaker 4: of handled him fairly well. Short term, yeah. But long term,
- 29:38Speaker 4: I'm expecting Malik Nabors to be that same guy. stud
- 29:40Speaker 4: that he was beforehand. I mean, like how many torn
- 29:44Speaker 4: ACLs have become pretty common? How often is a year
- 29:47Speaker 4: three player where it's like, yeah, his career has been
- 29:49Speaker 4: totally taken off the rails by that. Now, again, it's
- 29:52Speaker 4: a slow buildup back to that. I think he'll eventually
- 29:56Speaker 4: be back to that. But yeah, last night was rough.
- 29:58Speaker 4: I mean, one catch, one yard. And it felt like
- 30:00Speaker 4: they wasn't getting any targets on like normal wide receivers,
- 30:03Speaker 4: one stuff. And he didn't look, you know, his best either.
- 30:08Speaker 4: So long term, I'm not stressed about Malik Neighbors. I'm
- 30:11Speaker 4: more so worried about like getting through this season and
- 30:15Speaker 4: him wanting a new contract probably and not being in
- 30:18Speaker 4: a situation where you're choosing sides and he's not happy
- 30:21Speaker 4: with this. Like that's why it's so important for the
- 30:23Speaker 4: Giants to win with Malik Neighbors. because that's what will
- 30:26Speaker 4: make him happy long-term.
- 30:27Speaker 1: When you ranked the backup quarterbacks before the season started,
- 30:30Speaker 1: which is a genius idea, by the way, and one
- 30:32Speaker 1: I might steal, but when you did it, where did
- 30:35Speaker 1: Jameis rank for you guys in terms of best backup
- 30:38Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the NFL?
- 30:39Speaker 4: I'm going to pull up my notes.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Oh, this is so exciting.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Wow.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yes, go ahead.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Game week mailbag 2020. So number one was the Raiders.
- 30:48Speaker 4: So whether that's Fernando Mendoza or Kirk Cousins.
- 30:50Speaker 1: All right, just stop right there real quick. Do you
- 30:52Speaker 1: agree that both of those guys are better than Justin Herbert?
- 30:56Speaker 5: Justin Herbert? Yes.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I haven't really paid attention to the Chargers. Is it
- 31:02Speaker 4: really that bad in Charger land right now?
- 31:05Speaker 2: It's so bad that I asked you that question. Yes,
- 31:08Speaker 2: that's how bad it is.
- 31:09Speaker 4: I'm going to say no. I'm just going to pretend
- 31:12Speaker 4: these last two weeks didn't happen. I didn't really watch
- 31:15Speaker 4: them closely. I'm a Herbert fan, but he is a
- 31:20Speaker 4: certified playoff joker. I had whoever's the Raiders back at one.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I put Jameis two, Joe Flacco three, Matt Jones four,
- 31:28Speaker 4: Tyrod Taylor five. I would put Jameis down to five
- 31:32Speaker 4: after week two. So maybe I'll update this every week.
- 31:34Speaker 4: I still got them above Justin Fields and Marcus Mariota.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yes, please update it every week. I'll have you on
- 31:39Speaker 2: every week if you update it every single week, okay? Seriously.
- 31:42Speaker 4: I like the idea of that type of segment, just
- 31:44Speaker 4: every week. You'll love this. I do a Giants practice
- 31:48Speaker 4: squad power rankings every week. Every week I update the
- 31:51Speaker 4: power rankings for the Giants practice squad.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Listen, I will have you on.
- 31:54Speaker 1: We can promote the practice squad and the rankings there
- 31:57Speaker 1: as long as you bring your backup quarterback rankings as well, okay?
- 32:01Speaker 2: I've got to be honest. The practice squad is a
- 32:02Speaker 2: bit too much, all right?
- 32:04Speaker 4: Okay. Hit me with a random number, and I'll tell
- 32:07Speaker 4: you who was in there.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Where was Drew Locke?
- 32:10Speaker 4: Ooh, so now I've dealt with Drew Locke being terrible.
- 32:13Speaker 5: I see I had him.
- 32:14Speaker 4: I had him 17. I think I'd move him up to, like,
- 32:16Speaker 4: nine after these first couple games.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I think you'd probably move him up to number one
- 32:21Speaker 1: after these first couple of games, no?
- 32:25Speaker 2: Mikey? I don't know.
- 32:26Speaker 4: I feel like he's got a decent situation. I've seen
- 32:30Speaker 4: Drew Locke at his worst.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Yes, you're right.
- 32:33Speaker 4: That's probably clouding my judgment a little bit.
- 32:36Speaker 6: Bobby, we give out an award on the show called
- 32:38Speaker 6: the Floaty for the backup quarterback who keeps his team
- 32:41Speaker 6: afloat long enough.
- 32:42Speaker 5: For the And Drew Locke is running away with this
- 32:45Speaker 5: award right now.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Yes, right now.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I'm hoping Jameis can take the reins over the next
- 32:49Speaker 4: couple of weeks. Floating for the floating.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yes, you can steal that idea if you like it.
- 32:55Speaker 1: You give Jameis a floaty, put it on his arm,
- 32:57Speaker 1: he keeps you afloat.
- 32:59Speaker 4: I've become addicted to making trophies. We do like fan
- 33:02Speaker 4: listener of the year. We give one to the best
- 33:04Speaker 4: Giants beat reporter of the year named after Kadarius Toney.
- 33:06Speaker 4: So I might have to, if I budget the trophy,
- 33:09Speaker 4: I'll get in on that. I need a vote by
- 33:12Speaker 4: the end of the year.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I'm going to throw out a number in a second here,
- 33:15Speaker 1: but I just want to know who's number one right
- 33:16Speaker 1: now in the Giants practice squad.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Just out of curiosity. I don't know.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Braxton Barrios. It's not fair because he's actually on the
- 33:23Speaker 4: roster and they're using the practice squad elevations. But for
- 33:27Speaker 4: guys that are not actually on the roster, because Malik
- 33:30Speaker 4: Harris is number two, Kingsley Aguacan, the center, he was
- 33:33Speaker 4: the backup center for the Lions last year. And with
- 33:36Speaker 4: JMS as bad as he's been, he might end up
- 33:38Speaker 4: playing this year.
- 33:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Number 13, your 13th best backup quarterback headed into the
- 33:43Speaker 1: NFL season this year.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Uh, Gardner Minshew right after Josh Dobbs and before Anthony Richardson.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Go ahead, Mike.
- 33:52Speaker 5: I have to know 32. Yes.
- 33:54Speaker 2: The worst.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Jason Daniels, brother, Jalen Daniels for the bucks. I mean,
- 34:00Speaker 4: he was not very good at Kansas and he's a rookie. Um,
- 34:04Speaker 4: so I had him at 32. All right.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Who's better than him? Who's 31.
- 34:09Speaker 4: I put Stetson Bennett. Like I kind of, Don't like
- 34:13Speaker 4: Stetson Bennett at all.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 34:16Speaker 4: So, and he'll end up losing that backup job eventually,
- 34:19Speaker 4: the Ty Simpson. But him being it over Ty Simpson
- 34:22Speaker 4: might even rank him higher. Like, well, what do they see?
- 34:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 4: That we don't.
- 34:25Speaker 2: All right. And you re-rank these every single week? I
- 34:28Speaker 2: love that you do this.
- 34:28Speaker 4: I don't, but I'm going to start.
- 34:30Speaker 5: Yes. Okay.
- 34:31Speaker 2: So we'll have you on next week.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Because it could change in an instant.
- 34:35Speaker 2: You realize that.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Like Stafford, you get hurt next week and Stetson Bennett
- 34:38Speaker 1: comes in and he lights someone up and all of
- 34:40Speaker 1: a sudden Stetson Bennett's the best backup.
- 34:42Speaker 2: In the league, you know?
- 34:43Speaker 3: I think I have Jameis Winston at 32 right now. Yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Well, the worst backup who I've seen play, because it's
- 34:50Speaker 4: not fair to the guys who haven't played, is Trey Lance.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yeah, fair.
- 34:55Speaker 4: So the worst that has actually played in the NFL,
- 34:58Speaker 4: Trey Lance.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Is there anything in your life that you love more
- 35:01Speaker 2: than football?
- 35:05Speaker 4: Not my wife, I guess.
- 35:06Speaker 2: You had to think about it.
- 35:10Speaker 4: You know, my wife, I like auto racing and my
- 35:13Speaker 4: family and then football after that, you know.
- 35:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 35:16Speaker 1: How has John Harbaugh been received by the New York
- 35:19Speaker 1: Giant fan base?
- 35:21Speaker 4: I mean, they're all in. Obviously, you lose your first
- 35:24Speaker 4: game and you get your first taste of any negativity. Now,
- 35:27Speaker 4: that's the case with any new head coach. Any new
- 35:30Speaker 4: head coach gets crowned as like, oh, he does everything
- 35:33Speaker 4: better than the last guy. But at least with Harbaugh,
- 35:36Speaker 4: you have something to buy in in that week one game.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I do think it meant something. So the fan base
- 35:42Speaker 4: is all in. And you guys know the Giants' issues, man.
- 35:44Speaker 4: They're deep-rooted. It's not just bad coach, bad defensive line,
- 35:49Speaker 4: or bad linebacker group like They've got deep-rooted issues because
- 35:53Speaker 4: they just keep everyone there working since the 90s.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:56Speaker 4: And Harbaugh's, like, coming in and, like, kind of shaking
- 35:58Speaker 4: that up a little bit.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:00Speaker 1: When things get tough, like they did last night, and
- 36:02Speaker 1: you're sad and you're upset, do you ever just, like,
- 36:04Speaker 1: look over to the Jets and be like, oh, okay,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I feel better now, you know?
- 36:08Speaker 4: I used to, but it's been such a bad 10 years.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Like, it's become... Now, again, I'm excited for this year.
- 36:14Speaker 4: I'm not giving up.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:15Speaker 2: But.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I was at the charity softball game this summer where
- 36:20Speaker 4: it's like the Giants-Legends versus the current players.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 36:25Speaker 4: And I was looking over at Rich Soybird and Sean
- 36:28Speaker 4: O'Hara and those guys. I'm like, man, this was a
- 36:32Speaker 4: long time ago.
- 36:34Speaker 5: These guys aren't going.
- 36:34Speaker 4: To be able to play softball in a handful of years.
- 36:39Speaker 4: That's what gets me depressed as a Giants fan is
- 36:42Speaker 4: when I see the memories of I'm like, man, that
- 36:44Speaker 4: is becoming a long, long time ago now.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but Bobby, what I'm saying is at least you
- 36:49Speaker 2: have memories. That's fair. That's fair.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Well, I grew up a champion, you know what I mean?
- 36:55Speaker 2: Yes, right, of course.
- 36:56Speaker 4: When I first became a sports fan, the Giants were
- 36:58Speaker 4: going to Super Bowls. Even the Nets went to back-to-back championships.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 37:02Speaker 4: The Devils were winning Stanley Cups. The Yankees were, you know,
- 37:05Speaker 4: the dynasty.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:06Speaker 4: And then as an adult, it's just been miserable.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Right. I grew up a loser, and I'm still a loser.
- 37:10Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. At least you had some good times.
- 37:12Speaker 2: We had none, right?
- 37:15Speaker 1: Bobby, we appreciate it. Giants Nation Pod is where you
- 37:18Speaker 1: can check them out. Check out his podcast wherever you
- 37:21Speaker 1: get your podcasts. We'll have you on next week. I
- 37:23Speaker 1: want practice squad rankings combined with backup quarterback rankings.
- 37:27Speaker 2: We'll do it every single week. I swear to you,
- 37:29Speaker 2: I will. It's my favorite topic.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Absolutely. Absolutely. Jameis needs to have a strong performance to
- 37:35Speaker 4: keep that up.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yes, he can get up to number one. Yes, you
- 37:38Speaker 2: never know. He can get up to number one next week.
- 37:40Speaker 2: We'll see if he does it. Yep. All right. Have
- 37:41Speaker 2: some faith, Bobby. It's okay. You're not a Jets fan.
