- 0:00Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 44.
- 0:04Dayna Roselli: We talk with two of the cast members of a new show kicking off for the holidays at the Venetian.
- 0:09Dayna Roselli: It's called This Is Christmas, and we get some exclusive details.
- 0:12Sean McAllister: Plus, the Fox show Hell's Kitchen is coming back to television, and this season, well, things are heating up in Las Vegas.
- 0:20Sean McAllister: It's all coming up on Vegas Reveal.
- 0:24Dayna Roselli: Thanks to our sponsor, Steep Echo, olive leaf tea made from the orchards of Santa Barbara.
- 0:30Dayna Roselli: It is delicious.
- 0:31Dayna Roselli: We have a special code for you to use for 10% off your entire order coming up.
- 0:58Sean McAllister: And here in my head, I was thinking we're getting closer to 50, but I know that you're not 50, Dana.
- 1:03Dayna Roselli: Not yet.
- 1:03Dayna Roselli: 45, 45.
- 1:06Dayna Roselli: But yeah, it is Thanksgiving week here in Las Vegas.
- 1:09Dayna Roselli: Uh we're recording, you know, just on the weekend here, but next week, and when you might be listening to this, is Thanksgiving, and we hope that you have your plans set, because we know it's a different Thanksgiving for everyone, especially, you know, including, I should say, here in Las Vegas.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think uh people have probably had a lot of conversations with family, with friends about scaled back festivities for Thanksgiving this year.
- 1:36Sean McAllister: You know, uh you see it all across the news, whether you watch it on TV or you get your news online or in the newspaper.
- 1:45Sean McAllister: You know, everybody is just urging for really no gatherings.
- 1:50Sean McAllister: Like just have turkey with the people who live in your house.
- 1:53Dayna Roselli: Well, I live alone.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: What am I supposed to do, Sean?
- 1:56Sean McAllister: I guess uh the turkey by myself.
- 1:58Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: Bye.
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, really.
- 2:01Dayna Roselli: That's uh, you know, that's more economical anyway, right?
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: I guess.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: Some of the, I mean, it is sometimes you do you have to have a little bit of a laugh, and the memes going around about this this year's Thanksgiving are cracking me up.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: The first one uh was that I really they're the one that I really, really love is the police at the door and they're knocking and they're saying, you know, we know you bought a turkey that feeds 12 to 15.
- 2:22Sean McAllister: Well, because that's a real thing in some states, like our our both of us have family members who live back in uh upstate New York.
- 2:31Sean McAllister: And I mean the governor of New York has said that they're he's gonna want to send law enforcement around if it looks like there's a gathering happening on Thanksgiving.
- 2:41Sean McAllister: Now, a lot of county sheriff's departments have said we're not gonna waste resources to go knocking on doors on Thanksgiving.
- 2:52Sean McAllister: Just please don't have big gatherings, which is what everybody is urging at this point.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: And you know, I think I was reading in Los Angeles, or maybe it's the state of California, they have like a tip line.
- 3:03Dayna Roselli: So you can like call in on your neighbor.
- 3:06Sean McAllister: So is this like the same?
- 3:07Sean McAllister: Is it like the butterball tip line?
- 3:08Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: Like where you call for help with your turkey, except this time.
- 3:12Sean McAllister: Maybe you can call for help with your turkey and turn your neighbor in at the same time.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: Or you could knock on the doors and say, Hey, I know you've got six people in there or more than ten, right?
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: Um, so I won't call the tip line unless you handle it.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: Or pass me a plate, or pass me a plate or two bottles of wine or something.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: You could really up the ante.
- 3:28Sean McAllister: Ooh, this is a good idea.
- 3:30Sean McAllister: Thing Thanksgiving just got interesting.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 3:34Dayna Roselli: And we're laughing about it, but it is a serious situation.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: Obviously, we all know that.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: But at this point, we're going on a close to a year.
- 3:41Sean McAllister: Well, you're either gonna laugh about it or you're gonna cry about it.
- 3:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 3:44Sean McAllister: And laughing is yeah, it won't ruin your makeup, right?
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: Right, exactly.
- 3:49Dayna Roselli: Although we aren't putting on much makeup these days either.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: So uh that's where we're at.
- 3:53Dayna Roselli: Our governor is recovering uh from COVID.
- 3:55Dayna Roselli: He just had, he said, some fatigue, he had some some sinus issues, but other than that, he put out a tweet the other day saying he's he's doing okay.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: But there's a big call to be made, and you know, it could be made during this week, Thanksgiving week, where the governor asked for this um, you know, favor in a way for everyone to stay home as much as possible.
- 4:14Dayna Roselli: And he did send out a tweet this week saying, Well, the numbers haven't really gone down, so I gotta make some decisions here.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: So at this time we don't know what those are.
- 4:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was kind of a voluntary stay-at-home order, a vol of a stay-at-home request, I guess is is what you could call it.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: But I mean uh Las Vegas has kind of been pretty much business as usual.
- 4:39Sean McAllister: I haven't seen a lot of people staying home.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: We've had to be out and about for for work reasons, which is really the only reasons that we've been out.
- 4:50Sean McAllister: Um, and it's it's looked like it's been busy.
- 4:53Sean McAllister: We've been in very controlled environments when we've gone outside of the home and outside of our our office here, but um I I I really don't feel like there is a a drastic attempt being made to really stay at home.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: No, and you know, when we go out, we're we go in for the we're like in for the reason we're there and then we're out, right?
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: You know, I mean we don't linger, but on the way, like the other day when we did go to the Venetian, you know, you're walking and you're passing a bunch of things.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: I think you came right from a different uh the Venetian parking garage.
- 5:30Dayna Roselli: I went to the Palazzo, so I had a little bit of a longer walk.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: Right and just passing things, I mean, first of all, it was for the most part pretty empty.
- 5:37Dayna Roselli: However, I passed a big old poker tournament going on.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: You know, the guy was on the mic and everyone was getting the rules, and you know, I mean, they have the it was it seemed very organized and distanced and everything.
- 5:48Sean McAllister: But I mean, people are well hey, this is this is the time of year that casino players come in to get those Christmas presents.
- 5:53Sean McAllister: You gotta play in the tournament in order to, you know, go through the the festival of presents that those casinos throw out.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: I did feel like it was weird.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: I felt like, okay, this is gonna be really but I felt like it was like um I was walking down a street in New York City and all the construction workers turn when you walk by because I walked by this poker tournament and everyone had masks on, but it was like all men, and for the most part, the casino was empty, so I was the only one walking by.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: And all of a sudden I could see all these eyes shift toward looking at me, and I'm like, why is everyone staring at me?
- 6:31Dayna Roselli: But I think they were more like, oh, there's a person than other people.
- 6:35Sean McAllister: Is that how you're justifying it?
- 6:36Dayna Roselli: Justifying, but it was the funniest moment because I was like, that's what it felt like.
- 6:40Sean McAllister: It was so weird, but yeah, it was it was it was a lot of men playing some uh poker and all that I imagine when you say that is like r remember in like the the Scooby-Doo cartoons when like all the all the lights would go out and then all the evil, sinister eyes, like when they were in a cave, all you would see are like the evil eyes that are just peering around.
- 7:00Dayna Roselli: Yes, I totally remember that.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: That's kind of what it was like.
- 7:04Dayna Roselli: I'm like, I have no idea what any of these people look like, but I was like, yeah, he looks kind of cute.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: Anyway, that was my bring the bridge of the nose up.
- 7:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: So anyway, lots of experiences.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: We're gonna talk about this a little bit later in at the end of the show in our in our tips segment, because we do have a bunch of things to get to.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: And, you know, we talk about staying home, but there are a lot of shows that have um uh come back already here in Las Vegas, but some new ones uh coming to the stage, uh announcements that they're coming back in December.
- 7:33Dayna Roselli: We've got a holiday show to talk about as well.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: First, though, we want to talk about Hell's Kitchen, which is coming to your TV in January, we found out.
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: Is it January 7th?
- 7:41Sean McAllister: January 7th.
- 7:42Sean McAllister: Hell's Kitchen is coming back to Fox.
- 7:45Sean McAllister: And of course, Hell's Kitchen is the cooking competition series that stars uh famed chef Gordon Ramsey with a very fiery personality.
- 7:55Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 7:56Sean McAllister: And Las Vegas is home to the first ever Hell's Kitchen restaurant, the one that it people can actually go and eat at.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: And uh season 19, which is going to debut on January 7th, is the first season of the television show that's going to be entirely based right here in Las Vegas.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 8:19Dayna Roselli: And it's gonna be great because I know so many people are looking forward to this.
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: I mean, people around like when you talk about you know it being a destination point or saying it's the only one, my friend um has triplets.
- 8:32Dayna Roselli: They turned 21, and that was they're coming from upstate New York.
- 8:35Dayna Roselli: That was where they wanted to go.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, they were selfieing it, pictures in front of the signs.
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: I'm like, what is the big deal, you know, for us?
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: Like, we live here, there's a Hell's Kitchen, you know.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: But for people around the world, it is like a tourist major tourist attraction.
- 8:48Sean McAllister: Well, it's been God, uh almost 20 years that Hell's Kitchen has been on the air here in the United States as a TV show, and the show is still incredibly popular and it has such a huge fan base.
- 9:03Sean McAllister: Gordon Ramsey has a huge fan base, and so for people to now be able to go into a physical restaurant and have that Hell's Kitchen experience, you're right, Dana.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: People are just crazy about it.
- 9:19Dayna Roselli: Now, let's talk about um uh Gordon.
- 9:24Dayna Roselli: He's he is a personality, let me tell you.
- 9:25Dayna Roselli: And I know that you've gotten to know him through the years.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: You hosted a bunch of things, and in fact, before the pandemic hit, uh you were scheduled to go up to the Caesars in Tahoe.
- 9:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, at Lake Tahoe.
- 9:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, to actually help open up that restaurant too.
- 9:40Dayna Roselli: It's you know, hosting the crowd that would be there and and be able to to be there for the first, you know, like I guess dinner or lunch or whatever it would be.
- 9:47Dayna Roselli: So I mean you you know Gordon pretty well.
- 9:50Sean McAllister: He's great.
- 9:51Sean McAllister: Let me tell you.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: Yes, he is a very passionate guy.
- 9:55Sean McAllister: And the passion that you see on TV, that is real passion because he he wants the best experience possible for people who come into his restaurant.
- 10:06Sean McAllister: He wants the guests to have the best service, the best food, just the best overall experience.
- 10:13Sean McAllister: So he is very passionate about making sure that the employees at his restaurants get things right.
- 10:20Sean McAllister: Is it played up a little bit for TV?
- 10:23Sean McAllister: Sure it is, because what I've found is that that Gordon is he so he does have that potty mouth.
- 10:31Sean McAllister: That's not fake.
- 10:32Sean McAllister: Okay, but he is just one of the most uh genuine and caring, one of the most genuine and caring people that I've ever met.
- 10:40Sean McAllister: I think that he is absolutely fantastic.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: I've also gotten to know uh Christina Wilson over the years, who is now uh pretty much Gordon Ramsay's, you know, right hand at the in his you know Gordon Ramsay restaurant empire.
- 10:56Sean McAllister: She was winner of season 10 of Hell's Kitchen and has lived here in Las Vegas for years now.
- 11:01Sean McAllister: And I know in conversations with Christina that uh sh the Chef Ramsey is he wants to be the best mentor possible for any of the cooks chefs who work underneath him.
- 11:18Sean McAllister: So he does have a very he fosters young talent in a very passionate way, maybe not to the degree that we see on TV, but still very passionate.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: Okay, yeah.
- 11:29Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, he is a personality, he is talented, he is an incredible chef, so he's got a lot going for him, and I think that's why you know the following is so huge that he can bop from city to city all around the world, really, and do this show.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: I mean, starting it, it started a long time ago.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: Oh gosh, I forget what year.
- 11:48Sean McAllister: It was the early, it was early 2000s, 2001, 2003, when uh Hell's Kitchen first came on the air here in the US.
- 11:57Sean McAllister: And now we're starting season 19 of the show.
- 12:02Sean McAllister: There is now the first ever Hell's Kitchen restaurant on the Las Vegas strip at Caesars Palace.
- 12:08Sean McAllister: There's also a second location in Dubai, and the third location is up at Harvey's Lake Tahoe, and that is actually the location where the winner of season 19 will get a head chef job.
- 12:24Sean McAllister: They'll be working at Hell's Kitchen Lake Tahoe.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: I know you know a lot about this.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: I know we know a lot about the upcoming season, but we're we've got to hold on to all that information.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: But folks, if you want your Hell's Kitchen dish, come back to the Vegas Revealed podcast because there's there's a lot to talk about.
- 12:41Sean McAllister: There's a lot to talk about, and we are going to be talking to Gordon Ramsey himself right here on Vegas Revealed.
- 12:49Sean McAllister: Um, I'd say probably in the week leading up to uh the Hell's Kitchen premiere.
- 12:55Sean McAllister: So really, I guess first of the year, one of our first episodes of 2021.
- 13:00Dayna Roselli: I can't remember uh what's his signature dish at the Hell's Kitchen here?
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: That's what I had when I went there.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: The beef wellings.
- 13:08Dayna Roselli: Yes, that was it.
- 13:09Dayna Roselli: It was so good.
- 13:11Sean McAllister: And the sticky toffee pudding is to die for.
- 13:15Sean McAllister: It's like made, they have it has this brown butter ice cream that has like little crumbs of these crushed-up cookies, these brown, I think they're brown butter cookies that are in it too.
- 13:28Sean McAllister: And little bits of that are inside the ice cream.
- 13:32Sean McAllister: Oh, it is just amazing.
- 13:34Sean McAllister: The mac and cheese there is delicious.
- 13:36Sean McAllister: They have anything that you get there is phenomenal.
- 13:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's I had ne I don't even know if I've had ever had beef wellington, but no matter to me, that's always gonna be what I compare every beef wellington from here on out to, because that was amazing.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: It's a good one to compare to.
- 13:54Sean McAllister: It is it's it's one of the best that you'll have.
- 13:57Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, that was great.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: Okay, so we have a lot to talk about uh with Gordon and Hell's Kitchen coming up in January when it debuts.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: Um, let's talk shows.
- 14:05Dayna Roselli: Uh, something you had texted me the other morning, you said, Did you see this?
- 14:09Dayna Roselli: And it we and I was like, No, and it's it's one of our fabulous shows here in Las Vegas uh that has taken place at the New York, New York Hotel Casino for so many years.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: Zoomanity is closing.
- 14:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, uh in March the show had to close down because really the world closed down, and then uh just last week we got word that Zoomanity will not be opening up again.
- 14:34Sean McAllister: Cirque du Soleil uh is the theater company that that runs Zoomanity, and they decided that among the shows that are not coming back is Zumanity, which is so sad because there there is not another Cirque show like it.
- 14:55Sean McAllister: Edie, who is the mistress of sensuality, the the hostess of the show, um, we've gotten to know over the years.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: Uh, we had Edie on on uh on the podcast.
- 15:09Sean McAllister: Yeah, we did.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: As a matter of fact, talking about one of the drive and drag shows that was happening, and you know, for all of the cast and crew who are involved in Zoomanity, our hearts just go out to you.
- 15:22Sean McAllister: It's it's such a s a loss to the entertainment community not to have that show returning.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I know that it was a bit of a shock for the cast to not expect I mean, I think we all expect, well, something I don't want to say bad could happen, but something that we we hope wouldn't happen could happen during these times.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: But I I believe for most of the the cast members that I saw talking about it on social media, it was a bit of a a surprise.
- 15:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, well they were they were hopeful that the show was going to come back.
- 15:51Sean McAllister: There really wasn't any indication to the contrary, but really, as you know, we got a press release in our our inbox, and it wasn't, you know, too long before that press release popped up that that the cast was notified too.
- 16:07Sean McAllister: So 17 years Zumanity was staged over at New York, New York.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: The show is going to be dearly missed, and thank you to the casting crew for all the years of entertainment that you've given us.
- 16:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 16:21Dayna Roselli: Always, always great and willing to do charity work and appear at all sorts of stuff here in Las Vegas for so many years.
- 16:27Dayna Roselli: We did get another release just today about a show that's actually going into that New York, New York theater, uh, just temporarily.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: It looks like for the holiday season, you know, it could extend.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: But this is Terry Fader.
- 16:39Dayna Roselli: And Terry Fader has been at the Mirage for over 10 years, and then his show was supposed to close, then the you know, pandemic hit and the quarantine, and he never got that final show, so it's just closed.
- 16:53Dayna Roselli: So he's moving over to New York, New York with a show called Terry Fader, who's the dummy now, and this is gonna be Thursday, November 26th through December 31st.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: So it looks like it's for the holiday season.
- 17:05Sean McAllister: And Terry Fader, you'll you may know if you're a uh fan of America's Got Talent.
- 17:10Sean McAllister: Terry Fader won America's Got Talent and then, of course, came here to open a show on the Las Vegas strip, as Dana mentioned, over at the Mirage.
- 17:19Sean McAllister: But yeah, Terry is going to be bringing his act to the New York-New York theater.
- 17:24Sean McAllister: He's always done a holiday show for as long as I can remember.
- 17:30Sean McAllister: I think his entire run, he's he's done a special holiday version of his show uh leading up to Christmas.
- 17:38Sean McAllister: So, you know, I imagine that that holiday theme is going to trickle into this one too.
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: For sure.
- 17:45Dayna Roselli: And you know, if folks don't know, he's a ventriloquist and a singer and a funny guy too.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: So there's a little bit of everything.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: But listen, when you see it, the puppets uh are they puppets?
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: Am I calling it the wrong thing?
- 17:56Sean McAllister: They're yeah, they're puppets.
- 17:58Sean McAllister: Are they puppets?
- 17:58Sean McAllister: Yeah, okay.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: I was like, I didn't know if there was a fancier word for them.
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, I guess a dummy a cast of characters in the press release.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: Oh, right, who's the dummy now is the name of the show.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: So there we go.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: Um, but anyway, uh great.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: You know, they're they're so their personalities really shine.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: And in first of all, how they are designed, uh, how he makes them speak.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: It's really incredible.
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Uh you can't see his mouth moving.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: He's one of the best ventrolquists that I've ever seen.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: And then he sings while he's doing this.
- 18:27Dayna Roselli: So it's incredible.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: And he's super talented.
- 18:30Sean McAllister: And he does uh for years, he's he's given back quite a bit to our uh military members as a big thank you.
- 18:39Sean McAllister: So um you know he's uh big on on giving back as well.
- 18:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so Terry's gonna stick around here in Las Vegas.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: We're happy to hear that.
- 18:46Dayna Roselli: I've been seeing him pretty active on Instagram, so if you want to check him out, he's been doing a lot of posts over there.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: Then we found out another show's coming back, and that's Matt Franco.
- 18:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, Matt Franco, um also from America's Got Talent.
- 19:01Sean McAllister: Uh, he has a show over at The Link, which is formerly uh Imperial Palace.
- 19:08Sean McAllister: Um so Matt Franco over at uh The Link is his show is returning on December 17th.
- 19:16Sean McAllister: Uh Matt, of course, uh an incredible magician, and he does a great job at really evolving his magic and kind of going with the times.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: I know he has some some iPhone magic tricks, and he incorporates a lot of the newer technology that we all now use into his illusions.
- 19:36Sean McAllister: And Matt's just a great guy.
- 19:38Sean McAllister: We've had him on the podcast too.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and he's always good with the tricks.
- 19:41Dayna Roselli: He did some tricks with us last time.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: We were like blew our mind.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: How did you do that?
- 19:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so we'll welcome him back December 17th over at the link.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: And then coming up, we are talking about a show that is kicking off at the Venetian just for the holidays.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: It sounds incredible.
- 19:58Dayna Roselli: It's called This Is Christmas, and it's a whole cast.
- 20:01Dayna Roselli: So we were talking about America's Got Talent, but uh they have a lot of uh cast members, or I should say contestants from American Idol.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: And the these next guests, Sean, I don't know.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: It's like, if you look at them, it's like relationship goals just goes through.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: I mean, they they look good, they're handsome, beautiful.
- 20:18Sean McAllister: They're they're pretty much perfection.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: Perfection.
- 20:21Sean McAllister: They're talented together and on stage.
- 20:25Dayna Roselli: Talented, genuine people.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: I mean, the list goes on.
- 20:28Dayna Roselli: I left there going, I really need to find a boyfriend.
- 20:32Sean McAllister: So we sit down with Ben Stone and Jasmine Trias from the new show This Is Christmas at the Venetian coming up next on The Vegas Reveal.
- 20:43Dayna Roselli: We want to thank our sponsor, Steep Echo.
- 20:46Dayna Roselli: It's a collection of the finest all-natural olive leaf teas.
- 20:51Sean McAllister: And the best part about that is that it's all natural and caffeine free.
- 20:56Sean McAllister: So now you can sip on that perfect cup of tea at night and not have to worry about staying up all night.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: And that's exactly what I did.
- 21:06Dayna Roselli: The one that I tried recently was called Repose.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: It was delicious.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: It said it had a natural rose flavor, so I was curious and Sean, it literally tasted like roses, but it was so calming, and I loved just watching some TV and sipping on the tea in bed.
- 21:20Sean McAllister: And I tried the ascent.
- 21:22Sean McAllister: There were hints of vanilla and cinnamon in there.
- 21:25Sean McAllister: It kind of brought me back to when I would drink tea with my grandparents as a kid.
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: And you know what?
- 21:31Dayna Roselli: It's time to think about the holidays.
- 21:32Dayna Roselli: You might be thinking I'd love to send someone some tea as a gift.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: Well, Steve Echo Tea has announced this new Home for the Holidays gift box.

- 22:20Sean McAllister: So we're excited because we have a new show that's opening on the Las Vegas strip.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: And anytime there's entertainment opening, we get really excited about it, Dana.
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: Oh, it's so true.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: And this one is holiday themed.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: It's called This Is Christmas.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be at the Venetian Theater, which is an incredible theater, and we're so excited to have uh two of the members that are gonna be in this show, uh Ben Stone and Jasmine Trias, with us.
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: Welcome.
- 22:44Dayna Roselli: Thanks for having us.
- 22:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, great to see you guys.
- 22:47Sean McAllister: It's great to see you in person.
- 22:49Sean McAllister: I know.
- 22:49Sean McAllister: This is amazing.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: What a difference, huh?
- 22:51Sean McAllister: Not through Facebook.
- 22:52Sean McAllister: No.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: They're across the room, but we can still see them, right?
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 22:57Dayna Roselli: And I think last time I saw you guys, I didn't I don't even think you were married then.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: Is that right?
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 23:04Dayna Roselli: How long have you been married?
- 23:05SPEAKER_03: It's a couple of years now, yeah.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: So it was like a shock to me.
- 23:08Dayna Roselli: I remember I saw it and I was like, what?
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: Where well?
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: Right, right.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, the funny thing, I mean, 2019, in contrast to this year, we traveled so much that yeah, we probably didn't see a great deal of our Vegas friends uh join that year, and then obviously this year's wiped out as well, so yeah, it could well be.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, congratulations.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: Thank you so much.
- 23:25Sean McAllister: Well, and how has that been?
- 23:27Sean McAllister: I mean, going from a year like you said, 2019, when you're traveling all over the place, and then just having the brakes put right on all of that, as performers, uh, what was that like for you guys?
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, I mean, it was definitely a shock, obviously.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Um, 2019 was like one of our busiest years, and then once 2020 hit, it was like, okay, what are we gonna do this year?
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: There's you know, we we travel so much, but you know what?
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: It was great to just be able to enjoy being home for a time being.
- 24:01SPEAKER_03: For a few weeks, yeah, and then it very quickly became uh you know, we wanted to, we were itching to pack a suitcase again.
- 24:07SPEAKER_03: It's funny how quickly that changes, you know.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but we were actually able to like enjoy being home because we're on the go so much, we're actually to, you know, stay home and enjoy the house.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we were kind of we were joking yesterday because it was almost to the day last year.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: We were we were doing a tour over in Europe and we were in Venice in Italy, um, and then now obviously we're here at the Venetian, so it's kind of gone you know, full circle Vegas style.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: Or at least a uh a 180.
- 24:32Sean McAllister: Maybe not 360, but 180 for sure.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: Amazing.
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: Well, and Jasmine, you've been singing for years and years, Ben, you too.
- 24:39Dayna Roselli: And I even remember when I first met you, you were doing a magic.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: That's right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: My background is more in sort of variety theater and you know, lots of different types of you know, magic and music and comedy and speciality performers like Cirque.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, so that's kind of hosting those shows um allowed me to kind of yeah, flex all those different disciplines and uh and perform in different ways.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: And you know, predominantly that it's uh it's a music show, but we do have a couple of uh magic, uh magical moments, let's say, that we're really proud of that we're we're bringing to the Venetian theater.
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, there's a few surprises in store.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: And and what was it like, Jasmine, to get the call to be in this show?
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: Uh probably exciting during a time like this.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, absolutely.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: I was like, is this really happening?
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Like, are you sure?
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: But yeah, we're just so excited to be back on stage again, just grateful to be able to be a part of um an an amazing show production.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Um it's gonna be fun.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm really excited.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think you know, not only is the Venetian theater here at the Venetian literally our favorite room to perform in.
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: You know, we've been lucky enough to perform here in a few one-off shows over the years, and it's just to have the chance to be here for a for an extended run is is something we're really excited about.
- 25:48SPEAKER_03: But yeah, the mission of the show and sort of the you know, the importance of it in terms of bringing live entertainment back to Las Vegas, and of course, it's the launch of live entertainment back here at the Venetian Palazzo.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: So, you know, the combination of all those things, of course, during a pandemic, it's uh it's given us an opportunity to kind of you know carry the torch for the entertainment community and try and bring back what the heart and soul of Vegas is.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah.
- 26:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know people are itching to have live entertainment back, both entertainers and audiences.
- 26:19Sean McAllister: Uh, this show is called This Is Christmas here at the Venetian performances start November 27th, go through the end of December.
- 26:28Sean McAllister: Obviously, with a show like This Is Christmas, we're going to be hearing some of the classics.
- 26:33Sean McAllister: You mentioned some magical moments are gonna be thrown in.
- 26:36Sean McAllister: What are audiences going to experience?
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Well, it's definitely a family-friendly show.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: They'll hear loads of, you know, their favorite Christmas songs, and this is kind of a unique holiday show in a sense that um because there are Broadway performers in the show as well, there is a Broadway like mini musical in the show too.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: So it's like a big production singing and dancing, and it's so much fun.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: It's it's a show that I've never really that type of show we've never really been a part of, like a big production Broadway style show.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of fun to have that element in the show and learn all the dance moves and like you know, act a little bit and yeah, absolutely.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's a you know, it's a a cast that we're proud to be part of.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: You know, every single member of the cast is is a star on their own, and they're it they could carry the show themselves, so to have that many, you know, Broadway stars, obviously American Idol, uh, you know, amazing, incredible dancers, world-class band all on one stage together.
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: And of course, you know, it's uh it's a new discipline for us to exercise social distancing and keep everyone safe at the same time.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: So it's a huge undertaking by the producers, and you know, we're really uh proud to be part of it and grateful to them for you know for pushing forward and going ahead with this because you know obviously safety is the most important thing for the cast, but also to make sure anyone who comes to be part of of the experience is safe first and foremost.
- 27:58SPEAKER_03: And uh, you know, the protocols here at the Venetian uh have been just uh really reassuring, and they they've got I think over 800 protocols in place uh for safety measures with COVID-19, and uh of course we've got this beautiful 1600-seat theatre which we're gonna socially distance 250 people in, so everyone that comes to the show can feel you know safe that they're gonna be able to come to the show, but hopefully have an escape from from what's going on out there in the real world for a couple of hours.
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: So yeah, they'll hear all their all their favorite holiday songs.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: There'll be some sing-along moments.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: We've yeah, we've got a lot in store.
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: You got to, I love that.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: I know, I know.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: And you guys, we we all we sometimes see you doing duets.
- 28:34Dayna Roselli: Will there be a duet?
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: Or can you can you say no?
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, that there will be a duet or two.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: Maybe one or two of those in the show.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: You guys know amazing voices, and I love when you guys sing together.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: Ben, you being from the UK, uh, Jess been from Hawaii, how did you guys decide to settle here in Vegas?
- 28:51Dayna Roselli: Was it because of the entertainment world and the opportunities?
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: Um I had some shows out here, and he had shows out here, and we just kind of like I had a show one weekend um at a hotel, and he had a show the weekend after, and he came obviously the week before, you know, to luckily I decided to fly in early and he watched my show.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: I first saw her on stage in the spotlight, so that was a good first impression.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: And then yeah, the rest is history.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: The rest is history.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: So we were both travelling out here at the time, and then I think yeah, we were we were look both looking separately to come here, and then that that sealed the deal for us.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: But yeah, it was funny, it was around the holiday time we were just joking about this too.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: That at the time I was, you know, flying back home to England for Christmas and writing Merry Christmas in the snow and sending Jasmine pictures, and she's doing the same, but on the beach.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: On the beach, right, in Hawaii, yeah.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: In Hawaii.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: So we had very different Christmases, that's for sure, until we got together.
- 29:48Sean McAllister: Well, and and how hard has it been?
- 29:50Sean McAllister: I mean, having family and friends in Hawaii and in the UK, I mean, that's such a far distance to try and bridge.
- 29:58Sean McAllister: Uh, how have you guys been dealing with that?
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Um FaceTime?
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, technology, as everyone knows, has been really good.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: You imagine without it, I mean, it's um it's doesn't even bear thinking about, does it really?
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: But that's yeah, that's obviously been a huge lifeline for just staying connected even with friends, you know, that are so far away.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: Because because we do travel, we would generally for for work and just to see family and friends, we'd probably at least a few times a year be hitting England and hitting Hawaii.
- 30:29SPEAKER_03: So to be stuck in the middle and not able to do that, like so many others, you know, we're by no means alone in that.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: Everyone can relate to that.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: So yeah, it's tough, isn't it?
- 30:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 30:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you just do the best that you can, right?
- 30:40Dayna Roselli: And that's all you can do.
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: We don't if we were back in the day, we'd have to rotary dial, you know, our friend on a Sunday afternoon.
- 30:47Dayna Roselli: And well, maybe you guys aren't old enough to remember that.
- 30:51Sean McAllister: With the long cord that stretches into the other room.
- 30:55Dayna Roselli: Those are the days, man.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: On the bright side, everyone's got a couple of uh a couple of those friends that they haven't, you know, been able to see for a year because of COVID, which has been quite convenient.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's true.
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: Sorry.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: I keep thinking about the holidays.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: I'm like, we don't have to go over the top for Christmas gifts this year, do we?
- 31:13Dayna Roselli: Like, you know, we can we can, you know, we're all you know saving a little bit.
- 31:19Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: And Jasmine, you usually you do a lot of performances in Hawaii too, right?
- 31:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, obviously missing that and hoping.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: But you know, um with with the with the pandemic and everything, we've actually been able to do some virtual concerts and still be able to do some some work that way over Zoom or um you know.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, our stage is in our guest room at the home, our studio at the house.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: We've converted like a studio in the house, and we've been like filming and recording and doing all that stuff there, so we're still able to do that.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: It's not the same, but it's something.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:51Sean McAllister: Well, I know Las Vegas is a destination that a lot of Hawaii just love.
- 31:57Sean McAllister: Uh what is your message to all the Hawaiians who want to be here so desperately right now?
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I know.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: Vegas is like the ninth island, right?
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Um well, soon enough we will meet again.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: I know, really.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Aloha oi.
- 32:14Dayna Roselli: There we go.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: Um, so what are plans after this?
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: Does it go with the flow?
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: Is there anything that's been brewing in your mind to do a show together, or are you just kind of taking what comes your way?
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: Is there better?
- 32:26Dayna Roselli: Because I know if I remember correctly, you guys love, you're you're like night owls.
- 32:30Dayna Roselli: You stay up really late and you create and you come up with ideas.
- 32:33Dayna Roselli: So I'm wondering, is there anything new in the works in your mind that you'd like to see come to fruition?
- 32:39Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: Well we're here, what are we midday?
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: Middle of the night for us.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: So um, yeah, we've I mean obviously that's been been one great benefit of having more time on our hands than normal, is that we've there's been a lot of project development and we've been uh doing a lot of that stuff.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: So obviously, before the call came for this show at the Venetian, which obviously is now all-encompassing and uh and you know, long rehearsal days and and uh taking up all of our time, but yeah, we we definitely have some plans for for 2021, all being well with live shows and also you know leaning into the to the online um show as well because obviously, regardless of how things pan out in the next few months with vaccines and and all that, it's uh it's gonna be a long uh you know a little while before things are back to what we would consider normal.
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: So yeah, we're we're excited to do more together actually, and um we've been building content and recording some new original music together too during this time.
- 33:31SPEAKER_03: So it's been a productive time.
- 33:33SPEAKER_03: We've we've we've done our fair share of of Netflix and chill, but we have been working as well.
- 33:38unknown: I know.
- 33:39Sean McAllister: So is the new music, is that gonna be something uh that'll be coming out in the new year?
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, all being well, yeah.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: We're we're uh sort of part way through that process.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: But yeah, a lot of it's written, still to be recorded, some of it's it's already in the bag.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: So yeah, we're excited to share that because we've we've done a fair amount of that individually, but uh to do that together is something we've been talking about for a while.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: So that's one plus to come out of this, yeah.
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's great.
- 34:02Dayna Roselli: Well, with American Idol being back, it took a little hiatus.
- 34:05Dayna Roselli: Jasmine, do you watch it all?
- 34:06Dayna Roselli: Because I I notice, you know, it just isn't quite the same as it used to be at the beginning, so I find myself mostly not watching.
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: But um I don't know if it's something that you pay attention to.
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'll pay attention here and there, but yeah, for sure.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: It's uh the format's changed a little bit, and it's definitely not quite the same show as it used to be.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: But um, but yeah, I'll I'll you know, I'll still keep in touch with some of the producers on the show and stuff, so I kind of you know check in and see what's going on.
- 34:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you generally get called over to Hawaii for the top 40 week, don't you, to mentor them and the last couple of seasons.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: The last few seasons um they asked me to come out because they started filming um the top 40 in Hawaii, so um, so that was kind of a fun thing to be part of.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: Um great.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: So yeah, so I still keep keep in touch with the whole production and everything.
- 34:55Dayna Roselli: So would you say American Idol changed your life, or do you think you know, you would have had the life that you have now with or without it?
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, I would not have at all.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Uh it completely changed my life.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, I was, you know, young island girl at 16 when I auditioned for the show, and I had no idea you know where my life would have taken me if it wasn't for that show.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: It just completely changed my life.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: And um, I mean, it's just been amazing to think about, especially um during the pandemic.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: It was like a time of of reflection, and I actually had the time to really think back on, you know, my journey.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: And it's it was just um uh crazy to think how if I did not audition for American Idol, where would I be?
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: I probably would still be in Hawaii.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: I would probably be, I don't know, a nurse or something.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: Jasmine's Filipino mother still thinks she's gonna be a nursing holding out hope.
- 35:58Dayna Roselli: Especially we haven't broken the news yet.
- 36:00Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: Listen, nurses are in high demand, so they're gonna be able to do that.
- 36:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: She's in my gosh.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's been a crazy ride, and I wouldn't have met my husband, Ben.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: So you know, right?
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: Everything, everything lined up.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 36:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, now fast forward from then to now, you're in this is Christmas at the Venetian with uh big Broadway style numbers, and when you said that, I I I wondered, does the choreography come easily to you guys?
- 36:29Sean McAllister: Because I know I feel like I have two left feet, and whenever it's like trying to actually learn choreography and sing along with it, that's a lot going on in your mind.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it's definitely um it's it's been a little bit of a uh um a different approach for us because we're you know we're we're pretty used to concert style performing.
- 36:51SPEAKER_03: I mean, obviously we've we've done some of that together and and with dances and things, but yeah, for us it's normally you know, head downstage, hit the center, and do your thing.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: So it's it's actually been really, really fun process.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: And of course, we've got you know, we've got members of the cast who have been doing this on Broadway and around the world for years.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: So you're looking left and you've got you know the best and cream of the crop to your left and same to your right.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: So you know, we we have to try and I mean put it this way, definitely comes more naturally to Jasmine.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: I've got three left for you, I guess.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: But I'm putting in the extra hours and uh helping him at home.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, you step right here.
- 37:29SPEAKER_03: So but luckily, you know, it's they're mini musicals within the show, so we've still got that that those big big hitting uh powerful ballads and big concert moments that we're used to, and then you know, this is uh this is what Vegas and Variety production is all about.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be yeah, it's a hugely ambitious uh production for for the length of the run, and yeah, people should be really excited to see what's gonna happen on stage now.
- 37:53Dayna Roselli: And what a beautiful theater.
- 37:55Dayna Roselli: I mean, when I stepped on it even coming here, I was like, wow, never actually stood on the stage, but you know, I've seen Phantom and you know Faith with the Hill and Diana Ross there, and now you guys are on that stage, it's gotta feel pretty incredible.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I get chills every time I I just walk on stage and it just is so beautiful and so grand, and it just makes you sing better.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Up your head, I think you're in the opera.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 38:20SPEAKER_03: It's definitely a European style, you know, uh it feels very much like a European style theater, those grand, you know, theaters that have that history, which of course in the All Vegas showroom some do, but most of them are a bit shiny and new, and even though of course it's a r it's a replica, I'm sure, based on some of those classic theaters when you're in that space, the energy is very similar.
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: So it really uh it's inspiring.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: It is yeah.
- 38:43Sean McAllister: And it looks beautiful, it's all decked out for the holidays.
- 38:46Sean McAllister: This is music that just makes you feel good.
- 38:48Sean McAllister: Does each of you uh have uh a favorite Christmas song?
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, my all-time favorite has to be All I Want for Christmas is you.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love that song.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: I'll ask her if she's singing it in the show.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Are you singing it in the show?
- 39:00SPEAKER_04: Of course.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: That was in the small print, that was a good one.
- 39:03Dayna Roselli: That's amazing.
- 39:04Dayna Roselli: That's always like the number one every year.
- 39:07Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 39:08Dayna Roselli: And then what will you sing?
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: You know, um I'm I'm gonna bring a little bit of uh of the rock and a little bit of the Beatles uh style of of Christmas over over the Atlantic.
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: So um yeah, expect a little bit of that flavor too.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: So think of think of those classic Beatles Christmas songs from Paul and John, and uh there'll be a sprinkling of those.
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: But you know, we're excited to uh to do some of some classic uh duets together as well that people will know and a couple that we've done before that you guys may have may have seen, which we're we've we found a place for in the show.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: So we're excited.
- 39:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, good.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 39:41Dayna Roselli: And Sean and I usually do this part of the podcast where we do like our secret tips, like things that we love or things that people might not know about in Vegas, or the place that we love ordering out to eat.
- 39:50Dayna Roselli: So I'm gonna put you on the spot.
- 39:51Dayna Roselli: Do you guys have any favorites you can share with the listeners that maybe people don't know about, or even if they do know about it, a place that you love to either go eat, order in, some type of maybe entertainment off the strip, something you like to do.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh, I love to eat.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: So there's like a ton of places Hawaiian food.
- 40:11Sean McAllister: I was gonna say, where's the best Hawaiian food?
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, Aloha Kitchen's pretty good.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: Um and then also I love ramen, so our favorite like ramen place is Virginia.
- 40:22SPEAKER_03: Virginia is pretty pretty hard to be on the ramen.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: It's just good comfort food, you know?
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: You always know a place in Vegas is good when it's you know 15, 20 minutes off the strip, and there's normally a 45-minute wait easier to get in there.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: But it's it's worth the drive and it's worth the window.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: And you know, generally we'll uh we'll try to hit at least a Hawaiian spot and an English, some kind of English place, but there's not too many of those.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 40:45SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I just remembered Paina Cafe.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they have these mochi donuts that are amazing, and they have like ubei.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: Um, do you know ube?
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: The purple, it's like a sweet potato like purple dessert.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: And so they have like it doesn't sound as good as it.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, and then it tastes great.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 41:06Sean McAllister: But it makes for pretty Instagram pictures.
- 41:08Sean McAllister: I see it all over Instagram now.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: But like the word potato and dessert, you just go.
- 41:14SPEAKER_00: It started trending this year because even Trader Joe started carrying the Ube ice cream, and like when we walked in, I saw it in the freezer section, and I was like, oh my god, we need to buy everything in this section right here.
- 41:25SPEAKER_03: We have no room for ice in the freezer even anymore.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: It's just ube ice cream.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: How do you sell it?
- 41:30Dayna Roselli: I don't even know.
- 41:31Dayna Roselli: UB E.
- 41:32Dayna Roselli: UB E.
- 41:32Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 41:33Dayna Roselli: Have you not had it?
- 41:34Dayna Roselli: I've never had it.
- 41:35Dayna Roselli: Oh my god.
- 41:35Dayna Roselli: No, no, I've got to try it.
- 41:36Dayna Roselli: Where is this place you mentioned?
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Do you know?
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: Haina Cafe.
- 41:40SPEAKER_00: It's um in Chinatown.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: What street is it?
- 41:42SPEAKER_03: It's sort of Jones and Jones and DI, that kind of thing.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but they have the most incredible mochi donuts.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: And normally um you would only be able to get that in Hawaii.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: So when I saw it on on like an Instagram thing, I was like so excited.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: So yeah, this is like, you know, something we would normally get a box of before we get on the flight to fly back to Vegas.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: So the fact that it's now here is is very difficult for the waistline, and not not I'm not very happy about it.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: No, but they and they also do like poke bowls as well and like Hawaiian food.
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: So it's like an all-in-one great Hawaiian food.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: It is an all-in-the-ina cafe.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, as you probably can tell by now, you know, my influences move much more to Hawaii.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: It's a bit like when we have time for vacation.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: It's like, should we go to cold rainy England or should we go to Hawaii?
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: And Hawaii always wins, so that's probably why you're hearing all the Hawaiian food, because frankly, it's better.
- 42:28Dayna Roselli: Well, do you ever scooper up and go to the the crown and anchor or something?
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: We'll stop by the crown and anchor or you know for some mushy peas.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, some mushy peas, head to the uh you know the the Cornish pasty shop, and there's a couple of fish and chip places in town.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: So yeah, it's um yeah, it's it's definitely in moments like during the holidays when you want to feel the comforts of home when you can't get there.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: So you know um but yeah, gosh.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: We've been cooking a lot too though.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: We have, yeah.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: We're I mean we're sort of a choice in Vegas, aren't we?
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, this list it's like how long have you got?
- 42:57SPEAKER_03: You know, we we all know, and obviously this year's been a little different that we haven't been out enjoying enjoying uh Vegas as we normally would, but so I don't want to uh necessarily name social spots right now because I don't want to encourage that.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: But yeah, it's um yeah.
- 43:11Dayna Roselli: You guys definitely those were good.
- 43:13Dayna Roselli: I like those.
- 43:14Dayna Roselli: I like the choices you gave us.
- 43:15Dayna Roselli: People will be looking at it.
- 43:18Dayna Roselli: Oh, I'm going to have to, I have to get this going.
- 43:21Dayna Roselli: Listen, well, thank you guys so much.
- 43:22Dayna Roselli: It's been so amazing.
- 43:23Dayna Roselli: Even just walking in here through the halls of the Venetian, it's such a beautiful property, and it does make you feel alive to get out a little bit, you know, if you're masked and wash your hands.
- 43:31Dayna Roselli: And like and I hope that everyone will, if they feel comfortable enough, come see the show and enjoy themselves.
- 43:37Dayna Roselli: Yes, absolutely.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean certainly nobody nobody more than us was, you know, get sheltered at home and stay in like home hermits at home.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: And so that that was very important for us to be part of this.
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: And uh when we arrived at the Venetian immediately we were put at ease.
- 43:51SPEAKER_03: And I think that's really the big like I said, the b the big sort of mission of the show is really just to give people a a two hour escape to come and feel the holidays.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: I mean the the song We Need a Little Christmas is in the show and frankly it couldn't couldn't sum it up better really.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: I think we all need need that holiday cheer right now and yeah again everyone can can feel safe and comfortable uh to do that and and please go on the Venetian.com or ticketmaster.com and grab tickets while you can because because of social distancing they're gonna go fast.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: So we've got 250 tickets a show and that that's not gonna last long.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: So yeah, please come come check it out.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: We look forward to seeing you.
- 44:27Sean McAllister: So as you mentioned, tickets on sale right now for this is Christmas at the Venetian Resort.
- 44:32Sean McAllister: Shows from November 27th through December 27th.
- 44:36Sean McAllister: If you're in Vegas, come on out and see the show and feel that holiday cheer.
- 44:40Sean McAllister: And Jasmine, Ben, thank you both so much.
- 44:43Sean McAllister: We appreciate seeing you.
- 44:44Dayna Roselli: Thanks for having us.
- 44:45Dayna Roselli: So good to see you, Garden.
- 44:48Dayna Roselli: We'll be back on Vegas Revealed.
- 44:52Dayna Roselli: Welcome back, everyone.
- 44:53Dayna Roselli: This is usually when Sean and I do our secret tips, but as you heard in our interview with Ben and Jasmine, we asked them for some tips this week, and I think we got some really good ones.
- 45:01Dayna Roselli: I gotta even check out.
- 45:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I think Dana, since we sat down with them, you've just been Googling Ube and Ube recipes, haven't you?
- 45:10Dayna Roselli: Well, um The purple potato.
- 45:12Dayna Roselli: I did look at it.
- 45:13Dayna Roselli: I don't know about the recipe part.
- 45:16Sean McAllister: Ooh.
- 45:17Sean McAllister: Maybe you'll have an Ube Thanksgiving.
- 45:19Dayna Roselli: Maybe.
- 45:20Dayna Roselli: Me, myself, and an Ub.
- 45:21Dayna Roselli: Ube sweet potatoes.
- 45:24Dayna Roselli: Too funny.
- 45:25Dayna Roselli: Too funny.
- 45:26Dayna Roselli: But listen, our tip this week, you know, listen, we don't know the way things are going, if things are gonna stay open, if there's gonna be restrictions, if there's gonna be curfews, what's gonna happen.
- 45:35Dayna Roselli: So I guess our tip would be to stay at home as much as you can.
- 45:39Dayna Roselli: We're trying our best.
- 45:40Dayna Roselli: It is difficult and we get it, and we know people on, you know, both sides who are some are going, you know what, I'm gonna see my family and and we're gonna be fine and we're gonna be careful.
- 45:50Dayna Roselli: Others who say, no way, we're just staying home, we aren't going to.
- 45:53Dayna Roselli: And I I get everyone's, you know, mentality on it.
- 45:57Dayna Roselli: They're confused.
- 45:59Sean McAllister: Well, and and everybody wants to get back to the way we've always done things, but we're not at a place yet where we can get back to doing things the way that we've always done things.
- 46:11Sean McAllister: And I know Dana personally, you and I know probably the most people right now at this point in time who have tested positive.
- 46:21Sean McAllister: They're not people we've come into contact with, but people that we've known for years who are who are dealing with having COVID-19 right now.
- 46:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we're watching, you know, them kind of talk about how they're doing and and all that kind of thing, the process they've had to go through.
- 46:38Dayna Roselli: But currently, right now, you know, we know at least like five people that have tested positive, and some of them have more symptoms than others, you know.
- 46:45Dayna Roselli: It it's you never know.
- 46:46Dayna Roselli: Each person is different.
- 46:47Dayna Roselli: Um, but but one of our our friends seemed to have some pretty bad symptoms throughout, but is getting better now, thank goodness.
- 46:54Dayna Roselli: But it is that, you know, that thing in your head that clicks and you go, oh man, yeah, I don't wanna I don't wanna get that.
- 47:01Sean McAllister: You know, and that's happening here in Las Vegas, across Nevada, across the country, and really uh around the world.
- 47:09Sean McAllister: You know, the UK had gone back into kind of lockdown mode.
- 47:13Sean McAllister: I know California is putting even stricter restrictions in place.
- 47:20Sean McAllister: And you know, we're gonna see what happens here in Nevada.
- 47:24Sean McAllister: But uh overall, our tip this week is just uh stay put as best you can.
- 47:30Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 47:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 47:31Dayna Roselli: I mean, I I have definitely uh had to get some errands in and had to stop some places lately, and you know, everyone seems to be most complying with the wearing a mask and being careful and being courteous of others, and if we can just keep doing that and then stay home when we feel we don't need to go out at all, that is helpful.
- 47:49Dayna Roselli: We hope listen, everyone keeps saying I can't wait till 2021, and I'm like, I mean, I don't know if if that's the the click on the calendar that's gonna change everything.
- 47:57Sean McAllister: No, I think it's gonna be like summer of 2021 by the time everything rolls out, but yeah, I have noticed that store shelves are once again completely wiped clean of toilet paper.
- 48:11Sean McAllister: What is the big fear of people I don't get it?
- 48:19Sean McAllister: Like, do you think that you're just gonna start crapping more?
- 48:25Dayna Roselli: If you say you just turned our uh podcast into an explicit, now we have to add the E.
- 48:30Sean McAllister: Well, I I said crap.
- 48:32Sean McAllister: That wasn't my first choice of word.
- 48:34Sean McAllister: But like I just don't get the toilet paper hoarding.
- 48:39Dayna Roselli: I mean, I think because last time it was a thing, this time everyone's making sure that they have it.
- 48:44Dayna Roselli: I must say on Saturday I went to uh Vaughn's and it was fully stocked of toilet paper hoarding.
- 48:48Dayna Roselli: Was it really?
- 48:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 48:50Sean McAllister: Wow, because our my grocery store in the Costco near us have been totally wiped out.
- 48:55Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 48:56Dayna Roselli: I wonder if um it has to do with, I don't know, grocery store versus store that you go to kind of fill up on those kinds of supplies.
- 49:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I don't know.
- 49:03Dayna Roselli: It might be.
- 49:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, for now anyway.
- 49:04Sean McAllister: But only get what you need, people.
- 49:06Dayna Roselli: Yes, please, please.
- 49:08Sean McAllister: Get a couple weeks worth and be good.
- 49:10Sean McAllister: I know.
- 49:11Sean McAllister: You don't need to buy for the rest of the well, I guess the rest of the year now is winding down.
- 49:16Sean McAllister: It's insane.
- 49:17Sean McAllister: Oh my god.
- 49:18Sean McAllister: I know.
- 49:18Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 49:19Dayna Roselli: I updated my phone today, by the way.
- 49:20Dayna Roselli: There's new emojis out there, and a lot of them are COVID related.
- 49:23Dayna Roselli: I was like, are these necessary?
- 49:24Dayna Roselli: Do we need a pair of lungs to describe?
- 49:26Dayna Roselli: So let's do this, Sean.
- 49:28Dayna Roselli: If I get COVID, I'm gonna that I'm I need to use the lungs in some.
- 49:32Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna text you a lungs.
- 49:36Sean McAllister: Bad news bears.
- 49:38Dayna Roselli: Well, who's using lungs?
- 49:40Dayna Roselli: Why do we need that as an emoji?
- 49:41Dayna Roselli: I just don't get it.
- 49:42Dayna Roselli: There were some really weird ones on there, like a big orangutan.
- 49:46Dayna Roselli: Like what?
- 49:47Dayna Roselli: Oh, just in case.
- 49:48Sean McAllister: Maybe it's to raise awareness for the big orange ape.
- 49:52Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 49:52Dayna Roselli: Listen, I love watching the orangutan.
- 49:55Sean McAllister: I love orange apes.
- 49:56Dayna Roselli: There you go.
- 49:57Dayna Roselli: We should do a whole podcast on how, like, go through each emoji and how we would use it in a sentence if we needed to text someone something.
- 50:05Sean McAllister: The emoji episode.
- 50:06Sean McAllister: Maybe we'll do that for number 50.
- 50:08Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 50:08Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, we're all staying at home, so we might as well find something to do.
- 50:11Dayna Roselli: And our phones have a big part of it, right?
- 50:14Sean McAllister: They sure do.
- 50:15Dayna Roselli: Thank you for joining us, everyone, and we hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving.
- 50:19Dayna Roselli: Uh, one day soon we're gonna get the Viva back in Viva Las Vegas.
- 50:24Sean McAllister: We sure will.
- 50:24Sean McAllister: But in the meantime, as you're stuck at home, order some Steep Echo tea, steepecho.com.
- 50:31Sean McAllister: Use the promo code VegasRevealed for 10% off your order.
- 50:35Sean McAllister: Happy sips.
- 50:36Dayna Roselli: Yes, I've been enjoying uh Steep Echo as I watch the crown.
- 50:40Dayna Roselli: You know, it puts me in the mood, you know, to tip.
- 50:42Dayna Roselli: Oh, I guess it would, wouldn't it?
- 50:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's it's delicious too.
- 50:45Dayna Roselli: Everyone check it out for sure.
- 50:46Dayna Roselli: Have a great week, and we'll talk to you next weekend.
