- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What
- 0:34Speaker 1: the folks on? Michael Bumps along with Nasad Shelby and
- 0:37Speaker 1: this is Hot Talk recap. Addition, the Patriots taken al
- 0:42Speaker 1: to the Seahawks thirty five to thirty came down to
- 0:45Speaker 1: the last play like we normally do. Let's get into
- 0:48Speaker 1: the trenches with Ray Roberts. It's time to go inside
- 0:52Speaker 1: the trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts, Gray Thriller on
- 1:04Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football. How you feeling, man, I'm feeling a
- 1:07Speaker 1: little bit tired. Is a long night, you know on
- 1:09Speaker 1: the radio, and uh, you know, the motions were up
- 1:11Speaker 1: and down with that game, and then also trying to
- 1:14Speaker 1: bring some energy to the stadium for the team. But
- 1:17Speaker 1: then it's it's great to wake up too and no
- 1:20Speaker 1: great to wake up two. And it really felt like
- 1:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks had control of the game until that very
- 1:27Speaker 1: last drive. What do you think we learned about these
- 1:30Speaker 1: guys on Sunday? Well, I think what we've learned about
- 1:34Speaker 1: this team just in these first two games is that
- 1:37Speaker 1: on offset, they are a juggernaut. They are well primed,
- 1:41Speaker 1: everyone seems prepared. Russell is just like a you know,
- 1:44Speaker 1: we said last night, he's like a like a cheap code.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I think I think now they call it the X
- 1:48Speaker 1: factor on on Madden, and his star lights up and
- 1:51Speaker 1: he just can't be wrong until every seems like every
- 1:53Speaker 1: decision he makes when he chooses to pull the ball
- 1:56Speaker 1: down and run, when he chooses to move around in
- 1:58Speaker 1: the pocket and buy more time when he slows the ball,
- 2:00Speaker 1: and rhythm when he shows a short, medium long like
- 2:03Speaker 1: he just seems to be on point with every single
- 2:06Speaker 1: thing he's doing. And then I love the way that
- 2:08Speaker 1: the team is using the running backs. It seems like
- 2:11Speaker 1: in previous years it always seemed like three or four
- 2:14Speaker 1: or five games into the season before Pete Carroll had
- 2:17Speaker 1: to have a talk with the offensive coordinator. Then they
- 2:19Speaker 1: get their identity down and then they go on with
- 2:21Speaker 1: the season. This year, they just hit the ground running.
- 2:23Speaker 1: They know exactly who they are, exactly what they're trying
- 2:26Speaker 1: to get done. And then on the defensive side, man like,
- 2:29Speaker 1: they're trying to work some things out. They got some
- 2:31Speaker 1: new pieces, they're trying to figure out what's going on
- 2:33Speaker 1: with the you know who can make plays in the
- 2:35Speaker 1: defensive line. But they showed tremendous resilience last night just
- 2:41Speaker 1: being on the field for long drive. That last drive
- 2:43Speaker 1: was really long. Guys were gassed, a little bit tired,
- 2:46Speaker 1: but somehow, some way they made a play. Well, this
- 2:49Speaker 1: segment is called in the Trenches with Ray Robbers, So
- 2:52Speaker 1: let's get in these trenches real quick. Ray, how did
- 2:54Speaker 1: you feel about the offensive lin's performance last night? You know,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I thought they played really well, you know, really to see.
- 3:01Speaker 1: There was some pressure here and there, but that's to
- 3:03Speaker 1: be expected. I felt that Damian Lewis with all the
- 3:06Speaker 1: different looks that Bill Belichick defense can give you. They
- 3:10Speaker 1: had defensive lineman lining up over him, dbs lining up
- 3:14Speaker 1: over him, linebackers lining up over him. They're running all
- 3:17Speaker 1: types of games and stuff like that. So, h there
- 3:20Speaker 1: was a lot to try to confuse that side of
- 3:22Speaker 1: the ball, and for the most part, he held up.
- 3:24Speaker 1: He gave up the sack I think where he thought
- 3:26Speaker 1: that there was a game going to be played and
- 3:28Speaker 1: he was trying to pass the guy off to the center,
- 3:30Speaker 1: but it was just an inside rush. And then he
- 3:32Speaker 1: had he had a couple holding calls, but um, that's
- 3:35Speaker 1: a rookie thing. That's a that's a you know, getting
- 3:38Speaker 1: out of your college mindset thing, and those are things
- 3:40Speaker 1: that he can fix in practice. But overall, I thought
- 3:43Speaker 1: the offensive line played well. I thought I thought they
- 3:45Speaker 1: could have even run the ball a little more. But
- 3:47Speaker 1: but I liked the way they're coming in rounding into shape. Yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I feel like those issues with Damian Lewis you mentioned it,
- 3:55Speaker 1: those are just rookie mistakes. That's part of the learning curve.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Rights as the season goes along, you expect him to
- 4:01Speaker 1: eliminate those mistakes. Yeah, you know, so like when you're
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know, I didn't. I wasn't a holding call, dude,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I had My My family was fall starts. But uh,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but in college you tend to be you know, when
- 4:14Speaker 1: you're a guy like him, you're you're a little bit
- 4:15Speaker 1: more dominant and stronger than the guys you play against.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It you used to just grabbing him and throwing them
- 4:19Speaker 1: to the ground, or in pass detection you just kind
- 4:21Speaker 1: of grab a hold of him and hold him in
- 4:23Speaker 1: place to throw him to the ground. And uh, and
- 4:25Speaker 1: you get you can kind of get away with it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But in NFL, those are holding calls, and so uh,
- 4:29Speaker 1: you know, I remember when I did the scouting report
- 4:32Speaker 1: on him after they got drafted. The one thing I
- 4:34Speaker 1: said was that he tends to grab a lot, which
- 4:36Speaker 1: then ends up being holding calls in NFL. And so
- 4:39Speaker 1: that's just a matter of coaching a technique, retraining your
- 4:42Speaker 1: your your uh, the way you go about playing the game,
- 4:47Speaker 1: the way you think it through, and then uh, you know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: relearning that technique. It's not a thing that I think
- 4:52Speaker 1: it's going to be a long term issue. The guy's
- 4:54Speaker 1: just too good of a player. Uh. And and he's
- 4:56Speaker 1: around a bunch of other guys and Solari that can
- 4:59Speaker 1: teach him and coach them up. I'm with you, I'm
- 5:01Speaker 1: with you. So the Hawks had a more balanced attack
- 5:04Speaker 1: last night, thirty runs, twenty eight passes. Is this more
- 5:07Speaker 1: of the type of game we should expect going forward
- 5:10Speaker 1: with this football club? You know, in the pregame show,
- 5:14Speaker 1: Paul Morriers said that he thought the team had the offense,
- 5:17Speaker 1: had come to a place where they could just be
- 5:20Speaker 1: whoever they needed to be based on the team they
- 5:22Speaker 1: were planning. And my response was, well, they have to
- 5:24Speaker 1: like show that they could run the ball first before
- 5:27Speaker 1: they can say that, and I think last night they
- 5:29Speaker 1: did a good job of showing that they that they
- 5:31Speaker 1: can be effective in the run game, to the point
- 5:34Speaker 1: where if they're planning a team where the run game
- 5:36Speaker 1: seems to be the thing you lean on, then they
- 5:39Speaker 1: can lean on that. And if they need to throw
- 5:40Speaker 1: it then obviously Russell con throw it doesn't mean to
- 5:42Speaker 1: do this like over completion percentage right now and what
- 5:45Speaker 1: is it nine touchdowns or whatever? It is only seven
- 5:48Speaker 1: in completion. So they are getting to that place, I
- 5:51Speaker 1: think going into the rest of the season where they
- 5:54Speaker 1: can really game plan for which now they want to
- 5:57Speaker 1: come with. If they want to drop back and throw
- 5:59Speaker 1: it thirty times, or if they want to have it
- 6:01Speaker 1: more balanced like they had it last night. I feel
- 6:04Speaker 1: confident now watching this game that they can do the
- 6:07Speaker 1: things that Paul said that they could do in the
- 6:09Speaker 1: Free Game show. Right, it's all about being versatile. Well,
- 6:13Speaker 1: what's the defense giving you? They give me the run,
- 6:15Speaker 1: run the rock, they give you the past, you throw
- 6:17Speaker 1: the football, and I'm with you. I think that's kind
- 6:19Speaker 1: of where they're at right now. But this thing all
- 6:22Speaker 1: centers around Russell Wilson. Now, you've watched him for the
- 6:25Speaker 1: past several years, you've seen his development. Is this the
- 6:28Speaker 1: best Russell Wilson you've seen? I think it's the best
- 6:31Speaker 1: that we've seen because you know, what I think really
- 6:34Speaker 1: has unlocked Russell more than any of this stuff about
- 6:38Speaker 1: want him to be more aggressive with the ball and
- 6:40Speaker 1: all this other kind of stuff, is that they finally
- 6:43Speaker 1: finally gave him the keys to the car without strings
- 6:47Speaker 1: attached to it. Like before, I think they were like, Okay,
- 6:50Speaker 1: go do your thing, but we're gonna like, if it's
- 6:52Speaker 1: not quite right, we're gonna pull these keys back. And
- 6:55Speaker 1: this time they just said, dude, this is your car.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You can put new wheels on it, you can put
- 6:59Speaker 1: it cereal in it, you can tip the windows, you
- 7:02Speaker 1: can put a pin stripe on it. Whatever it is,
- 7:04Speaker 1: these keys are yours. And I feel like that's what
- 7:07Speaker 1: has unlocked Russell because when you see him out there now,
- 7:10Speaker 1: he plays as free as I've ever seen him play.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Like his decision making is clear. Uh, you know, when
- 7:16Speaker 1: he's making calls at the line of scrimmage, like I
- 7:19Speaker 1: said before, when he decides to step up in the
- 7:21Speaker 1: pocket or scramble or what have you, all of that
- 7:24Speaker 1: stuff is so on point. And I think that, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 1: for him, it has to feel great because, like he said,
- 7:29Speaker 1: this is what he's trained for his entire life. This
- 7:32Speaker 1: is the self talk that he's had with himself forever,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and I think this is really going to allow him
- 7:37Speaker 1: to unlock whatever else he needed to have to really
- 7:41Speaker 1: get people to see that this dude is an elite
- 7:44Speaker 1: player and right now, in this moment, he may be
- 7:47Speaker 1: the best quarterback in the NFL. Ray. When I got
- 7:50Speaker 1: the keys in my car, I put a spoiler on
- 7:52Speaker 1: that thing, a body kid, I lowered it, put some
- 7:55Speaker 1: rams on it. That's all right, That's where Russell's at.
- 7:59Speaker 1: He's I'm accustomed in this. It's mine now, I'm going
- 8:01Speaker 1: to customize this thing. Yeah, I remember my dad gave
- 8:04Speaker 1: me my cart, and there was so many parameters on it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I could only have so many people in it. I
- 8:09Speaker 1: could only drive a certain thus an hour, I could
- 8:12Speaker 1: only go to certain places at a certain dip time.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And then when I then, when I finally got to
- 8:16Speaker 1: just do what I wanted to do, I felt like
- 8:18Speaker 1: I had a car. You know, it wasn't his part
- 8:20Speaker 1: that I was using. Yeah, sir, he's whipping it. Now.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So let's talk about Quandre Dicks. Now, you played in football.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I feel like it's the golden age of football where
- 8:28Speaker 1: you could be nasty, big hits and all that stuff.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Now Quandre got kicked out of a game over a
- 8:33Speaker 1: hit or a tackle, whatever you want to call it.
- 8:35Speaker 1: That I feel like this would have been shrugged off
- 8:38Speaker 1: maybe six to eight years ago. Do you feel like
- 8:41Speaker 1: a disqualification was merited. No, I don't think a disqual
- 8:45Speaker 1: I can understand why they may disqualify a person just
- 8:48Speaker 1: because they're trying to deter people from from doing it.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But I think, you know, in the maybe that's something
- 8:53Speaker 1: that you do in college, but an NFL, I just don't.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I think you can get a penalty, he can get
- 8:58Speaker 1: a fine, and he can keep playing of it because
- 9:00Speaker 1: that has the ability to really impact the game. I
- 9:03Speaker 1: think it's it's unbelievably hard on defenders nowadays to figure
- 9:07Speaker 1: out how to hit someone, especially when you have a
- 9:10Speaker 1: mentality of a physical You want to play physical, you
- 9:13Speaker 1: want to send messages to guys when you hit them,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and it's really hard to do that nowadays because you
- 9:18Speaker 1: have to be so precise and how you tackle them.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And before you could, you could tackle people with reckless
- 9:23Speaker 1: of badness. You just fly up in there with everything
- 9:26Speaker 1: you have, and now you have to come up and
- 9:28Speaker 1: be thinking like, man, like, how is he gonna, you know,
- 9:31Speaker 1: take me on so that I can get my head
- 9:33Speaker 1: in the right place so I can hit him with
- 9:35Speaker 1: my shoulder, so that I don't hit him with my
- 9:36Speaker 1: face in it. So it's just like, I don't know
- 9:38Speaker 1: how you play the game as physical as you want
- 9:42Speaker 1: to play it and then still have to think to
- 9:44Speaker 1: all of that as you're trying to make a tackle
- 9:46Speaker 1: it and that includes you know, a play like a
- 9:49Speaker 1: bang bang play like that down the field for safety
- 9:51Speaker 1: or if you're sacking the quarterback. I mean, nowadays you
- 9:53Speaker 1: have about six inches that you can hit on the quarterback.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Without getting the penalty, and so I just don't understand
- 9:59Speaker 1: how how defenders can adjust to that. And I just
- 10:02Speaker 1: don't expect these penalties to go away because it's it's
- 10:05Speaker 1: it's part of this everybody's moving at the same time.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So how do you even if you take on the
- 10:10Speaker 1: right angle, the guy you're tackling can adjust his angle
- 10:13Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden you have a penalty.
- 10:14Speaker 1: So it's it's just a really tough call. Yeah, it's tough,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and I'm a receiver and I feel for these defenders.
- 10:21Speaker 1: It makes it tough on them. It allows the game
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be wide open when it comes to throwing the
- 10:26Speaker 1: football and people want to see points being put on
- 10:29Speaker 1: the on the scoreboard. But at the same time, you're
- 10:32Speaker 1: making their safeties and linebackers, anyone on defense, you're making
- 10:36Speaker 1: their job that much more tougher. So guys just have
- 10:40Speaker 1: to adjust. I guess you know you gotta do what
- 10:42Speaker 1: you have to do. Mike. Is that when I mean
- 10:45Speaker 1: didn't mean to cut you off. It's when when they
- 10:47Speaker 1: first put all these rules out. They're also the ability
- 10:51Speaker 1: for offensive players to be penalized for leading with the helmet,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and I don't I've never recalled here in one even
- 10:57Speaker 1: like the way a guard pulls and takes on a linebacker,
- 11:00Speaker 1: if he leaves with his head, it's supposed to have
- 11:02Speaker 1: telling the on the guard, so they have to leave
- 11:04Speaker 1: with their hands. And I haven't seen one single offensive
- 11:07Speaker 1: player of flags for leading with leading with their helmet,
- 11:10Speaker 1: and so it's just really interesting how and when they
- 11:12Speaker 1: choose to use that let that flag of that rule.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Now see I'm no scientists, but football is again of angles,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and when you are running, your body naturally goes into
- 11:23Speaker 1: a forty five degree angle. That's the power angle. You
- 11:25Speaker 1: don't tackle somebody standing straight up, you don't block somebody
- 11:29Speaker 1: standing straight up, So naturally there's gonna be a tilt
- 11:32Speaker 1: in your body, you know. So it's almost impossible for
- 11:35Speaker 1: these guys to keep their head out of it. And
- 11:37Speaker 1: if they do try to keep their hat out of it,
- 11:39Speaker 1: there's gonna be a lot of mistackles, a lot of
- 11:42Speaker 1: miss blocks. Well, you know, we all we have that saying,
- 11:44Speaker 1: uh say it with your chest. Uh, It's okay to
- 11:47Speaker 1: say things with your chest, but it ain't good to
- 11:49Speaker 1: block and tackle with your chair. You're gonna go home
- 11:51Speaker 1: with us, you know what, I'm saying, you're gonna have
- 11:54Speaker 1: You're gonna have Roddelle printed on your chest. Okay, let's
- 11:59Speaker 1: talk about the last play of the game. Right, we
- 12:01Speaker 1: were one of the left ones. We got to be there,
- 12:03Speaker 1: We got to experience it. Um Cam Newton's down on
- 12:06Speaker 1: the one or the two yard line, they'd get into
- 12:08Speaker 1: their big boy formation. Everyone knows Cam is going to
- 12:12Speaker 1: run this football. Walk us through that last play and
- 12:14Speaker 1: what you saw. Yeah, you know, I came home last
- 12:17Speaker 1: night and I looked at all of the touchdown runs
- 12:20Speaker 1: that Cam Newton had and I was trying to see
- 12:22Speaker 1: how our defense played it, and they kind of played
- 12:25Speaker 1: it straight up and they and on this last play,
- 12:29Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner, I'm sure, like Paul said, you know, had
- 12:32Speaker 1: a call to make where he could plant the d
- 12:34Speaker 1: line to the right or to the left, and uh
- 12:36Speaker 1: and so on this last play, he slanted the defensive
- 12:40Speaker 1: line to the defense's right, which is to the left
- 12:43Speaker 1: side of the defense where Cam Newton was running. And
- 12:46Speaker 1: then doing that, uh, Lja Carrier was able to if
- 12:50Speaker 1: you watch the tackle over him, the tackle went straight
- 12:53Speaker 1: ahead and because LJ slanted, he kind of got the
- 12:57Speaker 1: edge on that tackle was able to stand in that
- 12:59Speaker 1: gap where where Cam was running. But at the same time,
- 13:03Speaker 1: Lane o' hill came up and took on the fullback
- 13:06Speaker 1: deep into the backfield, So it really restricted the lane
- 13:09Speaker 1: for Cam to run. And then the one thing I
- 13:11Speaker 1: noticed out of those touchdown runs that Cam had that
- 13:15Speaker 1: was different than this play was what Bobby Wagner did.
- 13:18Speaker 1: So on the other plays, the running touchdowns, he kind
- 13:22Speaker 1: of hesitated and bounced the place for a minute to
- 13:24Speaker 1: kind of see where Cam was going, and then he
- 13:26Speaker 1: tried to go make the play and he missed both times.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And then this time he attacked the backside gap. So
- 13:33Speaker 1: when you're playing against an offense that pulls guards to
- 13:35Speaker 1: stuff a lot, if you get into the hip of
- 13:38Speaker 1: that guard, it'll take you right to the ball most
- 13:40Speaker 1: of the time. Well, Bobby Wagner on that play got
- 13:43Speaker 1: right into the hip of the guard to where the
- 13:45Speaker 1: guard felt him had to stop and hold Bobby up. Well,
- 13:49Speaker 1: that also restricted the lane. It gave them a one
- 13:52Speaker 1: least body going through the hole. And so the three
- 13:54Speaker 1: of those guys together really collapsed the lane that Cam
- 13:58Speaker 1: Newton had been creating for him in those previous two
- 14:01Speaker 1: touchdown those previous touchdowns, and so if you looked at
- 14:03Speaker 1: the play man it was well executed by Bobby, by
- 14:08Speaker 1: LJ and by Hill. They all did a great job
- 14:10Speaker 1: with just converging on that one spot to deep in
- 14:14Speaker 1: the backfield. For that Cam Newton couldn't get his speed up,
- 14:17Speaker 1: he couldn't jump over the top, there was no place
- 14:19Speaker 1: for him to go. The play was dead from the
- 14:21Speaker 1: moment the ball step. It's beautiful when it all comes
- 14:24Speaker 1: together like that, Bobby making the call, LANEO sat in
- 14:27Speaker 1: the edge, LJ getting low, getting low. I mean just
- 14:30Speaker 1: the way that Cam flips end over end. Let you
- 14:33Speaker 1: know this how low LJ got And I feel like
- 14:36Speaker 1: LJ needed that play. Ray. I mean, he's struggle last year,
- 14:40Speaker 1: he's getting the start this year. He's progressing slowly, but
- 14:44Speaker 1: this might be the play that really makes him tap
- 14:46Speaker 1: into another place in his brain and say, you know what,
- 14:48Speaker 1: I can do this now, let's let's go get nasty
- 14:51Speaker 1: and take this to the next level. Yeah. I think,
- 14:53Speaker 1: you know, I've been a little bit hard on him.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You know, I just expected that. You know, I think
- 14:57Speaker 1: he had a decent camp and he came in in
- 14:58Speaker 1: great shade. Even though he you know, he missed a
- 15:00Speaker 1: lot of time last year, and I'm sure mentally he
- 15:03Speaker 1: was probably struggling. Uh, you know, having not played last year,
- 15:06Speaker 1: that sometimes being a healthy scratch. And I know, as
- 15:09Speaker 1: a as a former first round draft pick myself, a
- 15:11Speaker 1: lot of that stuff weighs on you because the expectations
- 15:13Speaker 1: are high, you know. And you can say that it doesn't,
- 15:16Speaker 1: but it does. And uh. And so I'm sure he
- 15:18Speaker 1: came into the season really wanting to flash and show
- 15:21Speaker 1: that he was worthy the first round draft pick. And
- 15:23Speaker 1: then the first game, you know, he had an early
- 15:25Speaker 1: pressure on the quarterback and we fought like, oh, okay,
- 15:28Speaker 1: Lj's gonna do the same. That didn't hear a whole lot.
- 15:31Speaker 1: And then yesterday I thought he played tough. Uh. You know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: he filled some gaps on some run plays here and there,
- 15:37Speaker 1: But that play may be a play that really unlocks
- 15:40Speaker 1: the confidence and maybe the play that really unlocked him
- 15:43Speaker 1: to be able to just play free and loose and fast,
- 15:47Speaker 1: uh and strong the way that they thought he would play.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And so I don't know if he's ever gonna be
- 15:51Speaker 1: like a dominant defensive lineman, uh and have you know,
- 15:55Speaker 1: double digit sacks and all that. But I think he
- 15:57Speaker 1: could be a very good solid you know, uh, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: balance player against the run, in against the past. So
- 16:05Speaker 1: I was happy for him. It was cool to see
- 16:07Speaker 1: is the teammates celebrating with him, and every teammate that
- 16:10Speaker 1: was interviewed last night mentioned how excited they were for LJ.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So that that means a lot in the locker room.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm sure it means a lot to him and hopefully
- 16:20Speaker 1: that'll be that'll be easy the play that kind of
- 16:22Speaker 1: kick starts his play with Seattle. Hopefully it does. Ray
- 16:27Speaker 1: as usual, appreciate you taking time out of your busy day.
- 16:30Speaker 1: You guys are just listen to Big Ray in the trenches.
- 16:34Speaker 1: We'll see we'll talk to you soon. Man, Yes, sir,
- 16:37Speaker 1: all right, Nas talks to two and oh man two
- 16:40Speaker 1: and no baby, it's always good. It's always great to
- 16:43Speaker 1: start off the year. Two and oh victory. Monday is
- 16:46Speaker 1: always a good thing here at the vMac. You know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie to you, at least from my perspective,
- 16:51Speaker 1: Monday's always tough after a loss. So yeah, anytime the
- 16:55Speaker 1: boys get it done on Sunday, it's a great way
- 16:57Speaker 1: to start your week. And the lessons you learn you
- 17:00Speaker 1: if the game wasn't perfect, it's great to learn those
- 17:02Speaker 1: lessons in a win. A win is a win, and
- 17:05Speaker 1: you'll take it anyway that you can. But we're gonna
- 17:07Speaker 1: talk about how they got that win in our next segment.
- 17:11Speaker 1: What had happened was see what had happened at first,
- 17:16Speaker 1: What had happened was unharked knock. What had happened was
- 17:22Speaker 1: we're gonna tell you exactly how they got this w
- 17:25Speaker 1: last night. Now, the first thing that happened is that
- 17:28Speaker 1: offense came out. What second play of the game, pick
- 17:31Speaker 1: six wasn't Russell's fault hit Greg greg Olson's hands. Um
- 17:35Speaker 1: Newland took care of it. But after that that offense
- 17:37Speaker 1: got rolling and they were firing on all cylinders. It
- 17:40Speaker 1: was fun to watch NaNs oh from the jump, honestly
- 17:43Speaker 1: like that for them to bounce back after that first drive.
- 17:45Speaker 1: You mentioned that passing ten from Greg Olson's super uncharacteristic
- 17:49Speaker 1: Greg is one of the most sure handed guys in
- 17:50Speaker 1: the NFL. Unfortunately doesn't happen. It's to pick six from
- 17:53Speaker 1: the jump. But you know Russell Wilson, his demeanor, he
- 17:56Speaker 1: was calm, there was no worry, no panic on that sideline,
- 17:59Speaker 1: and honestly, they were pretty much unstopable. The only things
- 18:01Speaker 1: that stopped them on Sunday were penalties against themselves. Wasn't
- 18:06Speaker 1: anything the Patriots are doing to them when they did
- 18:08Speaker 1: not get behind the sticks or anything like that. They
- 18:10Speaker 1: were not touched. I mean it was you know, touchdown,
- 18:13Speaker 1: plant touchdown, planning, touchdown, touchdown, plant, touchdown. So I mean
- 18:16Speaker 1: in all of the drives were they punted, they had penalties,
- 18:20Speaker 1: and that's kind of a crippled the drive. So if
- 18:22Speaker 1: they weren't their worst enemy, they were unstoppable on Sunday,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I agree with you. A matchup that I loved watching
- 18:30Speaker 1: DK or Stefan Gilmore. Gilmore, you know, he tried to
- 18:33Speaker 1: he tried to to big brother him. He was like, look, man,
- 18:36Speaker 1: I'm the reigning defensive MVP in the league. I'm Stefan Gilmore.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna follow you all game. And DK stepped up
- 18:43Speaker 1: to the challenge from the very first snap. You kind
- 18:45Speaker 1: of felt that you were the one who pointed it out.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You're like, hey, man, watch DK and Stefan Gilmore. They're
- 18:50Speaker 1: getting at it. It was two alpha's going at each other,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and I feel like DK won that battle. Oh for sure.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And what I loved about it too is it was
- 18:58Speaker 1: on every play. It was on sometimes was more aggressive
- 19:00Speaker 1: on run plays because DK Metcalf's a big dude and
- 19:03Speaker 1: he takes pride in his runblocking ability. And you know,
- 19:05Speaker 1: step On Gilmore, like you said, trying to big brother him.
- 19:07Speaker 1: He was talking all game long and DK was like, Man,
- 19:12Speaker 1: I'm not a little brow no more. You're not gonna
- 19:13Speaker 1: put your hands on me no more. I'm big now
- 19:15Speaker 1: you can you can't do that stuff to me, and
- 19:17Speaker 1: he was mo uhuhn, disrespect in my house like that.
- 19:22Speaker 1: So it was great to see DK step up and
- 19:23Speaker 1: he was incredibly physical and like you guys said on
- 19:26Speaker 1: Danny and gall Out this morning, he threw step On
- 19:28Speaker 1: Gilhm out the club the sideline, he said, get out.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So I just love to see the fire and then
- 19:33Speaker 1: the pump up the sideline and everyone's juice about it.
- 19:35Speaker 1: So DK is definitely taking a step when you take
- 19:38Speaker 1: it to the former Defensive Player of the Year, step
- 19:39Speaker 1: On Gilmore, one of the best cornerbacks in the league.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So it's great to see from DK standpoint. Now two
- 19:45Speaker 1: years in a row, Russell Wilson is out the gates.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Bawling nine touchdowns, only eleven in completion so far this season.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I don't know that for sure stat but I'm gonna
- 19:54Speaker 1: go ahead and say about twenty five quarterbacks had at
- 19:56Speaker 1: least eleven incompletions on Sunday. So Hustle is playing out
- 20:01Speaker 1: of his mind. We spoke to Pete earlier. He says
- 20:03Speaker 1: there's a lot of conviction in his throws. He's not
- 20:07Speaker 1: necessarily throwing it harder, but he just knows what he's doing.
- 20:10Speaker 1: He's he's settled into this new role that he has
- 20:13Speaker 1: because it feels like they're gonna ride him. They're gonna
- 20:16Speaker 1: let him do his thing now. It was even when
- 20:18Speaker 1: he came to run versus past, but it felt like
- 20:22Speaker 1: they came out the gate high throwing the football and
- 20:24Speaker 1: Russell was his executing at a high level. Well, yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you're right. Like you guys, you and Ray were talking
- 20:28Speaker 1: about giving him the keys of the car. He really
- 20:30Speaker 1: has it and he's just so comfortable and when things
- 20:32Speaker 1: start breaking down and stepping up, like the first touchdown
- 20:34Speaker 1: of the game where he hit Tyler Lockett in the
- 20:36Speaker 1: back of the end zone, I mean that throw was
- 20:38Speaker 1: on the money. He had pressure coming towards him, steps
- 20:41Speaker 1: up in the pocket, kind of sidearm slings it, throws
- 20:43Speaker 1: a fastball to Tyler Locket and just the command he
- 20:46Speaker 1: has over this offense and this team is on a
- 20:48Speaker 1: different level right now. So those are the positives. Here's
- 20:51Speaker 1: a couple negative, man, Marky's Blair. I got hit by
- 20:55Speaker 1: friendly fire. Looked like kJ kind of rolled into his knee.
- 20:58Speaker 1: That force Ugo to come in, Diggs gut kicked out.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Despite all the adversity that these dudes faced, they found
- 21:04Speaker 1: a way to execute when it really happened. What's that
- 21:09Speaker 1: impact going to be without Marky's Blair out there. It's tough, man,
- 21:12Speaker 1: It's really tough because Marquise has been one of the
- 21:15Speaker 1: big bright spots on this defense so far this year.
- 21:18Speaker 1: He came in and just kind of took a hold
- 21:19Speaker 1: of that Nickel spot, which you know a lot of
- 21:21Speaker 1: people would assume that Ugo Monti was probably gonna get
- 21:23Speaker 1: that spot. Marquise Blair was all over it during camp.
- 21:26Speaker 1: He had a great camp, played well against Atlanta, was
- 21:28Speaker 1: playing well against the Patriots, and the thing that's just
- 21:30Speaker 1: it just different because not only is he our sorry nickel,
- 21:34Speaker 1: he's our backup safety as well when we're in base
- 21:37Speaker 1: So it just kind of takes away some of the
- 21:39Speaker 1: other things that we can do. And like there's times
- 21:40Speaker 1: where we'd bring in Dime and Lano Hill would come in,
- 21:43Speaker 1: so we'd be playing with six defensive back So without
- 21:46Speaker 1: Marquise out there definitely kind of alters what you can
- 21:48Speaker 1: do back there. Granted, the good thing about the Seahawks
- 21:50Speaker 1: is they're incredibly deep and the defensive backfield, So you know,
- 21:54Speaker 1: Ugo came in and stepped up great, Lano came in
- 21:57Speaker 1: and stepped up, So I'm confident that they're going to
- 21:59Speaker 1: be fine to get through it. Obviously hoping for the
- 22:01Speaker 1: best for Marquise that it's not a season any injury,
- 22:03Speaker 1: but it definitely is a blow to this defense. Yeah
- 22:07Speaker 1: it is. But it's also nice to see guys like
- 22:10Speaker 1: um dumb Bar Dunbar stepped up at the beginning of
- 22:12Speaker 1: the game was rough for him. Mister Tackle could have
- 22:15Speaker 1: had a pick six, but it seemed like he settled down,
- 22:18Speaker 1: gotten too his groove, stuck with his technique and ended
- 22:21Speaker 1: up picking off Kim. For this secondary to take the
- 22:24Speaker 1: next level without Marquis Blair, that guy has to continue
- 22:29Speaker 1: to take steps in the right direction, and as the
- 22:31Speaker 1: season goes along, as he gets healthier, because he mentioned
- 22:34Speaker 1: his offseason wasn't the greatest obviously with all that other
- 22:37Speaker 1: stuff that was going on, this guy's a key piece
- 22:40Speaker 1: of that. He's got to step it up or keep
- 22:42Speaker 1: playing at the level he played at last night. Yeah,
- 22:44Speaker 1: and he's such an instinctive guy and that's what kind
- 22:47Speaker 1: of what he hung his hat on in Washington. He's
- 22:49Speaker 1: a big playmaker, he's a ballhawk. He gets after the football.
- 22:53Speaker 1: But Watchington, New England. They were kind of going after
- 22:55Speaker 1: him to start that game. They started kind of saw
- 22:57Speaker 1: him playing off in coverage and they were going after him.
- 22:59Speaker 1: And I think that's gonna have a lot. I mean,
- 23:00Speaker 1: she killed Griffin has been becoming a lockdown corner on
- 23:03Speaker 1: the other side, and we know how good Quentin Dunbar
- 23:05Speaker 1: can be. And I just think he's gonna keep getting better.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Like he said, he missed some time during camp as
- 23:09Speaker 1: well as the offseason he went through, So I think
- 23:11Speaker 1: it's week by week he's gonna keep getting better and better.
- 23:14Speaker 1: But I totally agree with you one percent for this
- 23:16Speaker 1: defensive backfield detect that next step Quintin Dunbar has gotta
- 23:18Speaker 1: be a big piece of that. Dunbar has gotta do it.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Now we're showing the Seahawks love, but you can't. You
- 23:24Speaker 1: can't now show New England love. I mean Cam Newton
- 23:27Speaker 1: was playing on another level through for three ninety seven
- 23:30Speaker 1: one passing touchdown, carried the rock eleven times for forty
- 23:33Speaker 1: nine yards, and two touchdown rushing touchdowns. Thankfully he didn't
- 23:36Speaker 1: get three. He got three, it'd be a little it'd
- 23:39Speaker 1: be a different Monday over there in vMac Cam Newton
- 23:41Speaker 1: and you mentioned it when we were talking last night.
- 23:44Speaker 1: All these teams passed on Cam. They passed on him.
- 23:46Speaker 1: They thought he was done. Dude through it forty four times.
- 23:49Speaker 1: They lost the game, but he let the league know
- 23:52Speaker 1: that he's still a force to be reckoning with. Oh
- 23:54Speaker 1: he's still the MVP version of Camon we saw in
- 23:56Speaker 1: twenty fifteen is every bit apparent in twenty twenty. The
- 24:00Speaker 1: man was the other thing. Two people knocked his accuracy.
- 24:03Speaker 1: He was accurate last night. I mean they had so
- 24:05Speaker 1: much max max protection, they had a lot of just
- 24:07Speaker 1: two man routes, but Cam was being patient reading his keys.
- 24:10Speaker 1: And the Duke is still ball out I'm happy we
- 24:13Speaker 1: don't have to see him again this year, but the
- 24:15Speaker 1: rest of the league has put on notice and he's
- 24:17Speaker 1: coming for people's ads man, every team that passed on him,
- 24:20Speaker 1: He's coming for you, that's for sure. Yeah, and he
- 24:22Speaker 1: almost won the game. He threw a ball to Julian
- 24:24Speaker 1: Elman in the end zone, which was a little behind him,
- 24:26Speaker 1: but Eleman looked like he got two hands on it.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Probably should have made that catch. I'm not a New
- 24:33Speaker 1: England fan, but I love seeing Baller's ball, especially when
- 24:37Speaker 1: the Hawks still beat a win. They ball so big
- 24:40Speaker 1: ups to Cam, big ups to New England. That team
- 24:42Speaker 1: is better than people think if they can stay healthy.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Even when all the guys they have out, know what,
- 24:46Speaker 1: eight guys opted out because of COVID E what all
- 24:49Speaker 1: those guys, They're still a force to be reckoned with.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Y'all better watch out. I'm better watch out. The Pats
- 24:55Speaker 1: are coming all right. Now, let's talk about our playmakers.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Who was balling out? Makers? Who we got playmakers? When
- 25:13Speaker 1: we talk about playmakers, first guy, we got to talk
- 25:16Speaker 1: about mister Russell Wilson twenty one for twenty eight two
- 25:19Speaker 1: night eight yards, five touchdowns. This defense allowed four receiving touchdowns.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Last year, Russell put five up on him in one game.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I didn't think he could play even better than he
- 25:31Speaker 1: did last week. I'd take last week performance every day
- 25:33Speaker 1: of the week. Now I'm like, okay, I'll take this
- 25:35Speaker 1: week as well. He continues to get better. He's in control,
- 25:39Speaker 1: he's calm, he's a competitor, he's never down. I mean,
- 25:41Speaker 1: what else can we say about this dude. I mean,
- 25:43Speaker 1: it's every week you're finding a new adjective to describe
- 25:46Speaker 1: how good of a football player is. I mean, he's
- 25:47Speaker 1: the best quarterback in the league. I'll come out and
- 25:49Speaker 1: say it. He should win the MVP. I think that's
- 25:51Speaker 1: where he's trending this year. We'll come back to this
- 25:53Speaker 1: at the end of the year and mark these words.
- 25:55Speaker 1: He's gonna be the MVP. But honestly, it's it's so
- 25:58Speaker 1: fun to watch two because you mentioned the Patriots gave
- 26:01Speaker 1: up four touchdowns wide receivers all last season, and he
- 26:05Speaker 1: threw up four on Sunday. And the thing about it
- 26:07Speaker 1: is as good as he played against Atlanta. We know
- 26:10Speaker 1: Atlanta's defense is struggling, and they put up They gave
- 26:12Speaker 1: up another forty points to Dallas yesterday. You were playing
- 26:15Speaker 1: the New England Patriots this week. You were going up
- 26:17Speaker 1: against Bill Belichick's defense, the probably one of the most
- 26:20Speaker 1: well coached teams in the NFL, and Russell still got busy.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So I don't know what else to say about the man.
- 26:25Speaker 1: It's just pure greatness, greatness. We're watching it. Another playmaker,
- 26:29Speaker 1: Chris Carson, has seventeen carries for seventy two yards. Still
- 26:32Speaker 1: doesn't have a rushing touchdown, but he does have three
- 26:36Speaker 1: receiving touchdowns. That three receptions for thirty six yards. He
- 26:39Speaker 1: talks about his hands all day now. The touchdown that
- 26:41Speaker 1: he made was one of the toughest catches in football
- 26:44Speaker 1: over the shoulder, drops right into the pocket. Chris Carson
- 26:48Speaker 1: is showing that he's versatile. Oh yeah, as a running back.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know how many running backs in
- 26:53Speaker 1: the NFL make that catch. I mean the elite ones do.
- 26:56Speaker 1: That's like that's a Marshall Falk type kind of catch
- 26:58Speaker 1: where he's been stride over the shold and it was
- 27:01Speaker 1: towards the back of the end zone, so he had
- 27:02Speaker 1: that back line still still got two feet in And
- 27:04Speaker 1: Chris Carson is definitely showing how versable he can be.
- 27:07Speaker 1: And it's gonna be really big for this offense, especially
- 27:09Speaker 1: now that we're throwing the football more over one hundred
- 27:12Speaker 1: total yards. You'll take that every single week. Next playmaker,
- 27:15Speaker 1: DK Metcalf four catches ninety two yards, one huge touchdown
- 27:20Speaker 1: against the best corner in the NFL. Right now, DK
- 27:24Speaker 1: Metcalf is stepping into He's a he was a rookie
- 27:28Speaker 1: last year. Now he's stepping into that star right, not
- 27:32Speaker 1: a superstar, but he's stepping into the star level when
- 27:35Speaker 1: it comes to being an NFL football player. What do
- 27:39Speaker 1: you like out of this dude? Well, I mean, first
- 27:41Speaker 1: of all, we talked about it a little bit before
- 27:43Speaker 1: about his physicality. But another the big knock on DK
- 27:47Speaker 1: when he started, when he was drafted was he can't
- 27:50Speaker 1: run routes. He can just run a go route. He
- 27:51Speaker 1: can just run a go route. Well that is not
- 27:53Speaker 1: the case anymore. And I'll play his touchdown from yesterday
- 27:56Speaker 1: and we can talk about it. Four man rushed by
- 27:58Speaker 1: the Patriots, Russ seven step drop is gonna let it
- 28:01Speaker 1: fly deep, got a man out here. It's Medcalf reaches
- 28:03Speaker 1: up thanks the catch, touchdown? Say Hawks, how in the world.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Did he catch up? Had a man all over him,
- 28:13Speaker 1: and he still reaches back, catches a bump for six.
- 28:17Speaker 1: The Seahawks are a point away from tying it up
- 28:20Speaker 1: again from fifty four yards and absolutely perfect rainbow to
- 28:25Speaker 1: DK Medcalf, Now bump. What I loved about this, And
- 28:29Speaker 1: you're the receiver guru, so you can help me out
- 28:31Speaker 1: a little bit. So he's got he's inside, he's a
- 28:35Speaker 1: number two right there. He's probably about splitting the difference
- 28:37Speaker 1: between the hash in the numbers. He's got Stefan Gilmour
- 28:41Speaker 1: on him playing outside leverage, and he's gonna run a
- 28:43Speaker 1: corner route. But what I loved about it is he
- 28:45Speaker 1: stems him inside all the way to the hash, looks
- 28:49Speaker 1: over his left shoulder, then puts his foot in the
- 28:52Speaker 1: ground and runs that corner route and then doesn't show
- 28:54Speaker 1: his hands until the ball is there on the best
- 28:57Speaker 1: dB in the league for a touchdown. So you can't
- 28:59Speaker 1: tell me the can't run routes. You just coached him up.
- 29:03Speaker 1: You're the guru today. That's perfect. He got inside, leaned
- 29:08Speaker 1: on him, gave him all the goodies and pumped it down.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I think there was a play on the sideline I
- 29:14Speaker 1: forgot who it was. It might have been Tyler Lockett
- 29:16Speaker 1: on that third and one where Russell missed him in
- 29:18Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. Tyler didn't pump it down. He threw
- 29:21Speaker 1: his hands out there, slowed down, probably took like three
- 29:23Speaker 1: or four strides with his hands extended trying to catch
- 29:25Speaker 1: that football. It's the little things that make the big
- 29:28Speaker 1: plays happen. And all the things you described were all
- 29:31Speaker 1: the little things that need to be dumb to make
- 29:33Speaker 1: that play happen. A lot of guys they get rushed,
- 29:36Speaker 1: they get impatient, they don't get their depth, they don't
- 29:38Speaker 1: sell it at the top of the route, they don't
- 29:39Speaker 1: pump it down. D K put it all together. And
- 29:43Speaker 1: then even when he cut the ball, Gilmore was still
- 29:46Speaker 1: in good position. He still could have got a hand
- 29:48Speaker 1: on the ball. He was all over his back. He
- 29:50Speaker 1: shrugged him off. He said, now I'm a big boy
- 29:52Speaker 1: getting that weight room. DK conteinues to impress me. And
- 29:55Speaker 1: he also had to play on the sideline where he
- 29:58Speaker 1: stiffed on the heck out of Gilmour. I mean, he's
- 30:00Speaker 1: just he's turning into a big, nasty receiver, and that's
- 30:05Speaker 1: what this football team needs for sure. He's he's the
- 30:08Speaker 1: next TiO type guy and I can't wait to see it. Yeah, sir,
- 30:11Speaker 1: next playmaker. Jamal Adams had ten tackles on one tackle
- 30:15Speaker 1: for Laws, two QB hits, and it was it was
- 30:17Speaker 1: a quiet ten tackles, right, It wasn't like last week.
- 30:20Speaker 1: It was a quiet sack. It was a quiet tackle
- 30:22Speaker 1: for Laws, even though Juliet Ellman had a heck of
- 30:25Speaker 1: a day and a couple of those players were against him.
- 30:28Speaker 1: What I like about Jamal Adams is postgame conference he's
- 30:33Speaker 1: admitted like, hey, look, I made some mistakes. I gotta
- 30:35Speaker 1: get better, you know, but you know that you're gonna
- 30:37Speaker 1: get everything that you possibly can out of this dude.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Jamal Adams two weeks in a row where he played
- 30:42Speaker 1: really good football. Yeah you mentioned it. I mean it
- 30:45Speaker 1: was it was probably two plays over the middle that
- 30:47Speaker 1: Edelman got kind of got behind him a little bit,
- 30:49Speaker 1: and obviously with Digs out of the game, that kind
- 30:52Speaker 1: of shifted where guys were in the secondary. But he
- 30:54Speaker 1: was still very active on his one sack of Cam Newton,
- 30:57Speaker 1: Cam Newton walks into the end zone that was touchdown
- 31:00Speaker 1: saving play. Still very active when he blits. So this school,
- 31:04Speaker 1: got a couple of QB hits, and he's a guy
- 31:06Speaker 1: that's still before every stamp. I'm scanning the field. I'm
- 31:09Speaker 1: looking where number thirty three is. So the sky's the
- 31:12Speaker 1: limit for Jamal? Where's three three? All right? Now we
- 31:15Speaker 1: are going to go to the wide receiver round up
- 31:20Speaker 1: talked about DK metcalf forecast is ninety two yards. The
- 31:23Speaker 1: guy who got the past game going is no other
- 31:26Speaker 1: than Tyler Locketts. Seven cash, the sixty seven yards and
- 31:29Speaker 1: a touchdown. And I saw a little attitude out there
- 31:31Speaker 1: out out the man. He's getting up, talking a little crap,
- 31:35Speaker 1: smiling that defenders. He's the catalyst. I'm gonna say this
- 31:38Speaker 1: every single week. If Tyler Lockett doesn't get this offense going,
- 31:41Speaker 1: I think they can get going. But it's always nice
- 31:43Speaker 1: when we have someone you can depend on. Yep, And
- 31:45Speaker 1: it's every it's every week he's missed a reliable seven
- 31:48Speaker 1: receptions on eight targets. You'll never find a week where
- 31:51Speaker 1: he it's usually eighth for eight or seven or seven
- 31:54Speaker 1: or six for six. You will never find a week
- 31:56Speaker 1: I feel like where he's where there's maybe one or
- 31:59Speaker 1: two extra target where he doesn't come down with it.
- 32:01Speaker 1: He's miss her consistent. Like you said, the catalyst gets
- 32:03Speaker 1: in the end zone. He makes our offense go for sure.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Next up Demo David Moore. Three catches, forty eight yards
- 32:10Speaker 1: and one heck of a touchdown. That is what Demo does.
- 32:14Speaker 1: He goes up top, he makes the tough catch, and
- 32:16Speaker 1: he shows his athleticism, like for him to be backpedaling.
- 32:20Speaker 1: The ball was kind of low, drops in front of him,
- 32:22Speaker 1: gets his hands on him, one foot in, taps the pylon,
- 32:25Speaker 1: then swings that foot around and gets it in by centimeters.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Demo might be low key, like the top five most
- 32:33Speaker 1: athletic dudes on this football team. Yeah, there's a reason
- 32:35Speaker 1: he saw on this team. I think when we signed
- 32:37Speaker 1: Philip Door said, I think everyone was kind of like, Okay,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I'm not sure if Demo is going to make the team.
- 32:42Speaker 1: He does a lot for this team. He's good in
- 32:43Speaker 1: the pump return game. We obviously know he can run
- 32:46Speaker 1: a go route and make him play deep. He's this
- 32:48Speaker 1: kind of guy that when you see Demo in the
- 32:51Speaker 1: statue he made a big play. It might he's not
- 32:53Speaker 1: gonna get ten eleven catches for one hundred and tommy yards,
- 32:56Speaker 1: but he's gonna make a couple of plays and he
- 32:58Speaker 1: will make you pay at least once a game. And
- 33:01Speaker 1: it's good to see demost Wag getting out there and
- 33:02Speaker 1: doing his thing. That's what he does. Next up, Chris
- 33:05Speaker 1: Carson had three catches for thirty six yards and that
- 33:08Speaker 1: touchdown when we just talked about. Next up, Freddie Swaying,
- 33:11Speaker 1: let's go, yster out there. The run after the catch.
- 33:15Speaker 1: When they drafted him, that's what I saw them all.
- 33:17Speaker 1: So I'm like, when he gets the ball in his hands,
- 33:19Speaker 1: he can go, and that's what we saw. They put
- 33:21Speaker 1: him on a shallow they were in man coverage, they
- 33:23Speaker 1: got caught up in the mesh. He catches the ball,
- 33:26Speaker 1: gets his knees up, scores his first touchdown, and he
- 33:30Speaker 1: said he's going to wrap it up, send it home
- 33:33Speaker 1: to mom and dad. Good move. Oh of course, Hey,
- 33:35Speaker 1: Mama raised you right. If you're thinking that way, man,
- 33:38Speaker 1: that's awesome, especially with that football. I was just happy
- 33:40Speaker 1: because you know, sometimes guys get so excited they throw
- 33:42Speaker 1: the ball in the stands, they spike it. But now
- 33:44Speaker 1: he was smart. He caught. He said, Nah, this ball's
- 33:46Speaker 1: coming home with me. Yeah, hold on to that thing,
- 33:48Speaker 1: young fellow carlos I had two for fifteen. Will Disley
- 33:51Speaker 1: had one catch for nine. Greg Olsen had one target.
- 33:54Speaker 1: We're not even gonna bring up what happened in that
- 33:56Speaker 1: target anymore. We're moving on from that. Yeah, they're moving
- 33:59Speaker 1: on all right. Next Sam, we're going to the coach's corner.
- 34:03Speaker 1: We're gonna break down LJ. Collier's game winning tackle Newton
- 34:08Speaker 1: from the shotgun Johnson, the fullback wings on the left side.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Newton's gonna run the ball. He gets hit, He flipped
- 34:14Speaker 1: up in the air. He doesn't get there. Clock ticks down.
- 34:17Speaker 1: It's all zeros who play by the Seahawks defense. They
- 34:22Speaker 1: throw their helmets, They are going nuts on the field.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Cam Newton the first time tonight, I believe they've stopped
- 34:29Speaker 1: him dead in his tracks. And I believe it was
- 34:31Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner who got there to do it. One an
- 34:34Speaker 1: end to one a game. The Seahawks win thirty five
- 34:39Speaker 1: to thirty over the Patriots. Wow. Now Ray described it beautifully.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Bobby walks up to the line, puts the D line
- 34:49Speaker 1: on the slant lane. O'hill sets the edge on the
- 34:52Speaker 1: running back, forces them inside. LJ. Collier gets super low
- 34:56Speaker 1: flips Cam Newton end over end and lj's game interview
- 35:01Speaker 1: was awesome. I loved it. He goes, hey, my leader
- 35:05Speaker 1: told me to slam. I'm just gonna slam. He made
- 35:07Speaker 1: the call. Now we know that Bibby just didn't say,
- 35:11Speaker 1: forget what the coaches are saying. I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 35:13Speaker 1: do my thing. But that just shows how bought in
- 35:17Speaker 1: he's into his leadership to where he thinks that he
- 35:20Speaker 1: made that call. But that play I think is going
- 35:24Speaker 1: to help LJ next week in the following week. He
- 35:27Speaker 1: needed to have some type of success. Being that number one,
- 35:30Speaker 1: that first round draft pick. There's a lot of pressure.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Ray talked about the post game show. There's a lot
- 35:34Speaker 1: of pressure. The team chooses you first, and anybody they
- 35:37Speaker 1: come chosen, they picked you first, so they expect you
- 35:40Speaker 1: to perform. Maybe he's turning the corner here for sure.
- 35:43Speaker 1: And I think he's such a nice kid too, so
- 35:44Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm really rooting for him. And like you said,
- 35:46Speaker 1: it's all about confidence they talk about in basketball. Man,
- 35:49Speaker 1: you're struggling and you get to free throw line, you
- 35:51Speaker 1: just need to see the ball go through the net, right,
- 35:53Speaker 1: So it's the same translates to football. LJ just need
- 35:56Speaker 1: to make a play, and he chose the biggest stage
- 35:59Speaker 1: on Sunday night football a whole nation watching, makes an
- 36:01Speaker 1: enormous play. Love that for the kid. Lano Hill stepped
- 36:04Speaker 1: up set the edge. And I love what Ray talked
- 36:06Speaker 1: about because I was watching that last night too. Because
- 36:09Speaker 1: if you look at the play side guard so on
- 36:11Speaker 1: the defense is right. He was gonna come off double
- 36:15Speaker 1: team and he was gonna go up to Bobby on
- 36:16Speaker 1: the second level, but Bobby shot the backside a gap
- 36:20Speaker 1: and because he was there, the pulling guard, like Ray said,
- 36:23Speaker 1: had to stop because if he continues to pull, he
- 36:26Speaker 1: might get a piece of LJ. And then Cam has
- 36:29Speaker 1: another lane to walk in the end zone. He comes backside,
- 36:32Speaker 1: the pulling guard has to pause and get get a
- 36:35Speaker 1: piece of Bobby. LJ continues to come down hard and
- 36:38Speaker 1: the plays made. It's a beautiful thing when it all
- 36:41Speaker 1: happens the way it's supposed to happen. But what's the
- 36:44Speaker 1: greatest formation in football? Nass the greatest formation, I think
- 36:49Speaker 1: it's the victory formation. Bump Here comes the Seahawk offense
- 36:55Speaker 1: onto the field and the Vikings defense crunching out there
- 36:59Speaker 1: knowing that one meal down and the Seahawks are gonna
- 37:03Speaker 1: wind the clock down and women this one. It's the
- 37:06Speaker 1: victory formation on Hawk Talk. Victory formation that means the
- 37:11Speaker 1: Hawks gotta done, and they gotta done when it counted
- 37:14Speaker 1: the most. They came out hot. At some point we
- 37:16Speaker 1: thought the game was a rat. But when you have
- 37:18Speaker 1: Cam and Bill Belichick and those guys, they're gonna make
- 37:21Speaker 1: it interesting. End of the day. They might have given
- 37:24Speaker 1: up a bunch of yards. Cam might have thrown the
- 37:26Speaker 1: ball all over the football field, but when they got
- 37:29Speaker 1: down to the goal line it was time to make
- 37:30Speaker 1: a play, they stepped up. Yep, like you said, man,
- 37:33Speaker 1: it's it's everybody to grass. He talks about that, you
- 37:35Speaker 1: defend every blady grass to the last possible second. Backs
- 37:39Speaker 1: against the wall. One play and especially like that in football,
- 37:42Speaker 1: one yard, go get it. Both teams know what you're
- 37:44Speaker 1: gonna do, especially when they know Cam's gonna run the football,
- 37:47Speaker 1: they say, go ahead and stop it. Seahawks defense steps up,
- 37:49Speaker 1: stops it, gets a victory. Their defense stepped up in
- 37:53Speaker 1: the offense continues to play at a high level. It
- 37:56Speaker 1: might not be the best offense in the NFL. But
- 38:00Speaker 1: they are showing that they can get it done in
- 38:02Speaker 1: the run game and in the past game. If they
- 38:04Speaker 1: can eliminate the penalties on a couple of those drives,
- 38:07Speaker 1: maybe they give fourteen more points out of this dual.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, for sure. I mean those are just those
- 38:11Speaker 1: are just drive killers. You had like a couple of
- 38:12Speaker 1: false starts holdings. When you're first in fifteen first and
- 38:15Speaker 1: twenty second and twenty it's hard to come back from that,
- 38:17Speaker 1: and for any team in the NFL. So if they
- 38:19Speaker 1: can get out of their own way, that there's the
- 38:21Speaker 1: ceiling for this offense is through the roof. Another way
- 38:24Speaker 1: they got it done. We mentioned earlier that they tossed
- 38:27Speaker 1: the ball man five touchdowns against the defense. They gave
- 38:29Speaker 1: up four passing touchdowns to receivers last year. That has
- 38:33Speaker 1: to that's got to sting a little bit. Do you
- 38:35Speaker 1: think the pagers know that, Hey, we gave up four
- 38:37Speaker 1: and now we just gave up five and is one game.
- 38:39Speaker 1: There's no way they don't know that. And I'm telling
- 38:41Speaker 1: you something. Bill Belichick is serving up some humble pie
- 38:45Speaker 1: this morning. I would not want to be in the
- 38:47Speaker 1: defensive meeting room for those guys. At all today because
- 38:50Speaker 1: that's gonna be a rough one. It's gonna be a
- 38:51Speaker 1: rough one end of the day. These guys are too
- 38:54Speaker 1: un though. I don't care how they did it. It
- 38:55Speaker 1: might have been pretty to some might have been ugly
- 38:57Speaker 1: as others. When it shows upon a stat sheet, they're
- 39:01Speaker 1: two and oh they're doing their thing. Happy for these dudes.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Next week the Cowboys are coming to town. Another challenge
- 39:08Speaker 1: that they can get off this thing. Three and oh.
- 39:10Speaker 1: It's going to be a nice start for these Seahawks.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's been real. I'm Michael Bumpus along with my guy
- 39:16Speaker 1: Nasa Choby. That was a hot talk recap. Dallas is
- 39:20Speaker 1: coming into town. We'll talk to you guys soon. Have
- 39:22Speaker 1: a good one.
