• 1:34
Speaker 1: I'm thinking about it.
• 1:35

• 1:37
  Speaker 1: We are worldwide.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, forty countries.
• 1:40
  Speaker 1: Is it 40?
• 1:41
Speaker 1: Forty, forty countries, all right.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: So, oh, you know what?
• 1:47
Speaker 1: When you hit 41, that's when you made it.
• 1:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I left the most important piece of paper because I just ripped it off of the news wire.
• 1:58
Speaker 1: I just ripped it off of the news wire and now I can't find it.
• 2:04
Speaker 4: But I will Talk amongst yourselves out there.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: No, it's okay, I'm just a little verclimpton disheveled, oh boy.
• 2:11
Speaker 3: Sure, and he gives me trouble about you sir you got that there, you got that there, you got that there.

  Speaker 3: Yes, I am.
• 2:21
  Speaker 1: I don't know what I Spelled.
• 2:23

• 2:25
Speaker 1: Did your mom name you then?
• 2:28
Speaker 3: It is my dad's father's name.
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: Conrad with a K.
• 2:32
  Speaker 3: With a K.
• 2:35
Speaker 1: Why is it with a K?
• 2:36
Speaker 3: That's the Austrian version.
• 2:38
Speaker 3: The German version is with a C Then there's a big difference between Austria and Germany.
• 2:43
  Speaker 3: Yeah to Austria.
• 2:44
  Speaker 3: Yeah, yodel, Yodel.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: Have you ever yodeled?
• 2:49
Speaker 1: Don't answer that no, because I know where that would go.
• 2:52
  Speaker 2: I've eaten a yodel, I bet.
• 2:55
Speaker 1: Well, I can't find my sheet of paper.
• 2:56
Speaker 5: What are you looking for?
• 2:57
Speaker 5: We'll help you find it.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: No, you can't because I'm not finding it myself.
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: I thought that I had.
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: I know that.
• 3:04
Speaker 1: I put it in my briefcase and.
• 3:05
Speaker 1: I'll probably find it at the end of the show.
• 3:07
Speaker 4: Mike, run to the studio and pick up this piece of paper.
• 3:10
  Speaker 3: Be right back.
• 3:10
Speaker 3: Oh, here it is.
• 3:11
Speaker 3: Usually Don's got a printer handy to find it.
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: I found it.
• 3:16
Speaker 3: Oh, is this the UAW stuff?
• 3:17
Speaker 1: Yes, I'm pleased with the UAW story because big news from yesterday.
• 3:21
Speaker 1: I happened to watch the announcement from Sean Fain not a big fan, uaw President Sean Fain bolstered by a historic show of support by US President Joe Biden.
• 3:33
Speaker 1: Your president ramped up pressure on the Detroit three last week as frustrations on both sides of the bargaining table spilled into view.
• 3:41
Speaker 1: Amid the ongoing strike, the union sent 7,000 more workers in Michigan and Illinois on a picket lines Friday.
• 3:49
Speaker 1: After progress stalled with Ford Motor Company and no significant headway was made with General Motors, a last-minute offer by Stellantis, which is Chrysler, prompted Fain to call off a new walkout against that company.
• 4:03
Speaker 1: Okay, tit for tat.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: The union last week expanded the strike to include Ford's Explorer factory in Chicago and a GM crossover plant near Lansing, michigan.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: The addition brought the number of workers on strike to about 25,000, or 17% of UAW membership at the automakers.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: Although Fain suggested that Ford and the union had made progress on wages and benefits, he later said they remained far apart on core economic proposals, including retirement benefits and job security.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: And it's not over with.
• 4:39
Speaker 1: And it's not going to be over with for a while.
• 4:40
Speaker 1: And I've got more stories about the folks that are the ancillary support people that supply the manufacturers the buttons, the knobs.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: It's not just about the and who and ancillary and salarie.
• 5:02
Speaker 1: What are you saying?
• 5:04
Speaker 3: Nothing, it's just a bad joke yeah apparently because I didn't get it.
• 5:08
Speaker 1: So anyway, the Big deal now is the fact that all of the auto makers, the auto workers union, are saying that the auto manufacturers have set the bar by paying executives a lot of money, somewhere in the $20 million a year range and GM's gonna put a new CEO in.
• 5:36
Speaker 3: Her name is Helen Waite and they're gonna tell the UAW.
• 5:39
Speaker 3: If they don't like it they can go to Helen Waite.
• 5:44
Speaker 1: See, you didn't know.
• 5:46
Speaker 3: I practiced these tips.
• 5:47
Speaker 1: You didn't know, you were tuned into a car show.
• 5:49
Speaker 1: But now we've got comedy or attempted comedy and other fine things that we're going to deal with.
• 5:57
Speaker 3: So while these boys are all over here gathering, All three of the CEOs make over $20 million a year.
• 6:03
Speaker 1: That's correct, they do.
• 6:04
Speaker 1: So they've kind of set the bar and really set themselves up for a huge strike.
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
• 6:11
Speaker 1: You're making over $20 million a year and here I am making $30 an hour $38 an hour Whatever, and they want a 40% raise.
• 6:21
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 6:22
Speaker 1: Well, at that rate, somebody's gonna have to take a little cut and pay, don't you think?
• 6:28
Speaker 3: If they pass that, I would think so, because it's going to have a serious impact on the price of cars.
• 6:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the increase of the cost of labor by 40% is going to have a major impact on the price of cars.
• 6:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're not going to sell cars.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: So for those automakers that are part of the UAW, Well, and it's already impacting the parts business.
• 6:54
Speaker 3: Well you know, because what I do for a full-time job, talking to a bunch of dealerships and come to find out they all got a letter last Friday from GM parts and Stellantis parts saying they have received their last parts shipment until the strike's over because all the parts facilities are UAW employees so they're not packing stuff up and shipping it out right now.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: So if you've got a car in the shop waiting on GM parts, you're going to be waiting a long time.
• 7:27
Speaker 1: Now, if I've got the inkling to buy a new car, hmm, am I going to buy a car that is maybe not having parts available for it if it breaks down, or am I going to buy a car that's not involved in the UAW?
• 7:45
Speaker 3: But I can do all of that.
• 7:46
Speaker 3: That's the gamble both UAW and the Big Three are playing is that they're still going to have loyal customers after the strike's over.
• 7:56
Speaker 3: Because what's going to happen and they've seen it happen in the past is people are going to go shop other brands, and when they shop other brands be it Toyota, honda, nissan or whoever- they may never come back.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: That's right, and the fact that there are a lot of cars manufactured in Mexico.
• 8:17
Speaker 1: I don't think that they're part of the UAW Lots of Fords are manufactured in Mexico and lots of GM's.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: Are they part of the UAW down there?
• 8:25
  Speaker 1: No, no, no.
• 8:26
Speaker 3: All of the four-wheel drive utilities Suburbans, escalades, tahos, yukon's the four-wheel drives are built in Salau in Mexico, and then lots of other stuff.
• 8:38
Speaker 3: You know, fords got a bunch of plants in Mexico as well, so all of that stuff is still in production.
• 8:44
Speaker 3: But that's why the UAW is doing these targeted strikes, because some of the plants in the United States ship parts to Mexico to be assembled, for those vehicles to be shipped back into the United States.
• 8:56
Speaker 3: So the UAW knows what parts are going where and how to impact the profit of the Big Three.
• 9:03
Speaker 3: But let's see, I want to negatively impact the profit of the Big Three.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: Who pay my employee's salaries?
• 9:11
Speaker 3: There's something wrong in that equation, but that's what it's all about.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: I really don't see any end to this in the near future.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: I don't see a good end to this at all.
• 9:25
Speaker 3: I really don't see a good end to this at all.
• 9:27
Speaker 3: You know, because the cost of labor is a majority part of the cost of building a vehicle.
• 9:34
Speaker 3: And then the other thing and we talked about it last week with the professor from North Carolina State is the impact it's going to have on you called it the ancillary, the Tier II and Tier III and primarily the Tier III suppliers.
• 9:49
Speaker 3: They build that one little widget that gets shipped to another supplier that builds the big piece.
• 9:57
Speaker 3: Well, if that guy that builds that one little widget the knob on the radio.
• 10:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, if he goes out of business, there's no more knobs on the radio Right.
• 10:05
Speaker 1: And you can't ship the car without a knob on the radio Right.
• 10:08
Speaker 3: So we'll see how long-term that impact is.
• 10:11
Speaker 3: You know, the strike back in 2009 did that as well, as well as the economic collapse of 2009.
• 10:18
Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's going to have a huge negative impact.
• 10:24
Speaker 1: You're of that age that I could see.
• 10:27
Speaker 1: Well, you know, mom and dad had a Honda Accord so we kind of we goose that up and we had the four door Accord that made a lot of noise with that garbage can exhaust system on it.
• 10:37
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and you're not that.
• 10:39
Speaker 2: No, no, I'm a little before that generation, I think, are you?
• 10:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, we had a Accord it would be tubbed out with an LS in it.
• 10:46
Speaker 3: Said that again, your Accord would be tubbed out with an.
• 10:49
Speaker 2: LS in it 100%.
• 10:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly so tell me how long have you had this car?
• 10:54
Speaker 1: Where'd you get it from?
• 10:56
Speaker 2: So I was looking for a long time because I wanted the early 60s model, you know the shoe box.
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: The Chevy II.
• 11:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the 66, 67 was such a popular model and it still is a popular model and I kind of wanted something that wasn't so popular and so I looked for probably about a year and a half, really Drove to Dallas and just kind of my price range, I just see nothing but rust, bucket junk there's a bunch of that out there and so I waited off for about another year and actually of all things, it's kind of seemed like it's fallen.
• 11:30
Speaker 2: In the past I found this car off a Craigslist Craigslist, craigslist.
• 11:34
Speaker 1: How long ago was that?
• 11:35
  Speaker 4: Three years ago.
• 11:36
Speaker 2: So I've owned this car just over three years now.
• 11:39
Speaker 2: Just started putting type searches and I found it out of North Carolina.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: Oh wow, that's a long haul, yeah.
• 11:46
Speaker 2: And actually I bought this vehicle sight unseen.
• 11:51
Speaker 2: I popped up in the morning.
• 11:54
Speaker 2: I was sitting there just doing my normal routine, scrolling through Craigslist and Marketplace, all the car sites, and I came across this and at the bottom it kind of tells you how long the listing's been on and it looked like he posted around midnight and this was six in the morning.
• 12:11
Speaker 4: So I said well, there's an opportunity here Sure.
• 12:14
Speaker 2: So I jumped on and sent him a message.
• 12:17
Speaker 2: He had a cell phone on there and we exchanged numbers or text message back and forth and sent me a ton of videos and about a week and a half later, going back and forth, it was on a box truck heading this way.
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: Nice.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: Oh, wow, yeah, how did you did?
• 12:36
Speaker 1: He have the car a long time.
• 12:38
  Speaker 2: He built it.
• 12:39
Speaker 2: He started, I think, the building 13.
• 12:41
Speaker 2: And basically it was pretty much built out.
• 12:44
Speaker 2: The way it sits now.
• 12:45
Speaker 2: I've kind of done a few modifications to it, changed some things interior wheels breaking stuff like that that he needed a little bit more upgrade or put my touch to it.
• 12:56
Speaker 1: So you said that it's got an LS in it.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, what LS.
• 12:58
  Speaker 2: It's the LS1.
• 13:00
  Speaker 1: And it's a.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: It's my Corvette motor.
• 13:02
Speaker 2: Got a stroker kit in it and Well, you beat me there.
• 13:06
Speaker 1: It's a Power adders no power adders.
• 13:09
Speaker 2: Not yet, at least.
• 13:10
  Speaker 4: So it's a what transmission?
• 13:12
  Speaker 2: It's the Turbo 350.
• 13:15
Speaker 2: Ok or no, I'm sorry I got 700R4 in that, the Turbo's in the other one, 700r4 in that and it puts about I think about 550.
• 13:25
Speaker 2: We had it dynoed at Nice so it's got a good set of heads on it and the whole car is completely built frame up four-link in the back.
• 13:35
Speaker 2: Really 12-volt rear 373 gear, Nice build.
• 13:39
  Speaker 3: Nice build.
• 13:40
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: And I was heavy on the electronic side of LS and actually when I got this it had a carburetor on it, so it kind of caught my eye.
• 13:49
Speaker 2: I said, ok, well, I got to start learning about this a little bit more.
• 13:51
Speaker 2: And the car was a little tricky.
• 13:54
Speaker 2: It had a Holley 750 in it and I've got a friend over in Mississippi that he's a nova guy and he's like man.
• 14:01
Speaker 2: We got to put fuel injection on it.
• 14:03
Speaker 2: So about a year and a half we put the Holley sniper on it and haven't even looked back.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: So that LS1 originally came with a fuel injection system on it.
• 14:13
Speaker 1: That is correct, and they took it off and went with a carburetor.
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly Weird.
• 14:18
Speaker 1: Why would you do that?
• 14:18
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: I guess maybe a little special touch, something different.
• 14:22
Speaker 3: Well, they also make kits to put a distributor on them as well, which I always thought was odd.
• 14:28
Speaker 3: Why would you go backwards in the technology to drop the FI or to drop the distributorless ignition systems?
• 14:36
Speaker 3: But some people do, because they want that uniqueness Absolutely.
• 14:39
Speaker 3: Pop the hood and people look at it and go huh.
• 14:42
Speaker 2: How's that thing run?
• 14:43
Speaker 2: You know, they see the coil packs on top and go there's a carburetor on it.
• 14:46
Speaker 2: Well, let me think about this.
• 14:47
Speaker 2: This doesn't make sense to me.
• 14:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, I mean that Holley man, you turn the key, prime it and man, she fires up every time.
• 14:57
Speaker 2: You know, instead of pumping that gas with that Holley 750 in there wanting to die and Pump it twice.
• 15:02
Speaker 2: Set the troke and.
• 15:03
  Speaker 2: Exactly.
• 15:04
Speaker 2: Hope it lights Haven't looked back, but I mean, the car is enjoyable.
• 15:08
Speaker 2: I drive it as much as I can.
• 15:10
Speaker 1: Did you drive it down here?
• 15:11
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, yeah, yeah, where do you live?
• 15:13
  Speaker 2: Santa Fe Texas.
• 15:14
  Speaker 1: Santa Fe.
• 15:15
Speaker 2: Oh, you're not too far away.
• 15:16
Speaker 2: No, not far, and I spent probably about four or five hours yesterday cleaning it up and I was worried about the chance of rain.
• 15:23
Speaker 2: And I guess on the way here there was a storm that came through Santa Fe and the roads were just completely wet for about 10 miles Of course they were, you know so.
• 15:30
Speaker 1: And then you worked another hour here trying to get all that cleaned up Exactly Been there, done that brother.
• 15:35
Speaker 2: That's why I got here early, yeah.
• 15:37
Speaker 3: So have you taken it to other shows as well?
• 15:40
Speaker 2: I have taken it to some other small local shows.
• 15:42
Speaker 2: I'm actually I'm looking forward to putting it into Aldorama this year.
• 15:47
  Speaker 1: Yes.
• 15:48
Speaker 2: I've got some friends that have done it in the past and I just I didn't have the time last year to do it and I just, for the first time, went up there just to experience it and see what it was all about.
• 15:58
Speaker 1: So you'd never been before.
• 15:59
Speaker 2: I'd never been but to Aldorama.
• 16:00
  Speaker 1: Really.
• 16:01
  Speaker 3: Good experience yeah.
• 16:02
Speaker 2: It's very good experience.
• 16:03
  Speaker 2: It's pretty nice.
• 16:04
Speaker 2: You know, I hear there's a few headaches, you know getting cars in and out, you know kind of as a cluster, but that's, you know, when you're trying to put you know, 400, 500 cars inside a building.
• 16:14
Speaker 2: What do you expect?
• 16:15
Speaker 3: And then you kind of get the clubs that all want to come in together, so they all park together as well.
• 16:20
Speaker 1: Exactly so, but I'm looking forward to it, a little piece of advice is make sure that you don't try to get in with more than a quarter of a tank of gas, because the fire marshal will go and good one.
• 16:33
Speaker 3: Then you've got to go drain it.
• 16:35
Speaker 1: Either drain it or drive it around.
• 16:36
  Speaker 2: Well, that's a good note.
• 16:38
Speaker 2: No one's told me that.
• 16:39
Speaker 1: So well, there you go.
• 16:40
Speaker 1: I appreciate that, yes.
• 16:42
Speaker 3: Be better off if you have a locking gas cap as well.
• 16:45
Speaker 2: Oh, OK, yeah just.
• 16:46
Speaker 3: And a way to quick disconnect your battery.
• 16:48
Speaker 3: And the dumbest thing is they want the positive cable disconnected, not the negative cable.
• 16:55
Speaker 3: Technically, technicians always go in negative cable first, but in honorama they want the positive cable disconnected and they'll give you a little bagged, kind of like a crown royal bag, to put over the positive battery cable.
• 17:12
  Speaker 2: OK.
• 17:13
Speaker 3: And that way when they walk by they'll see, and once you get set up in your space you'll go through a tech coming in and then, once you get set up in your space, they're going to come by and check to make sure that the battery is properly disconnected.
• 17:25
Speaker 1: Hey, be sure to start by and say hello to us.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: We'll be up there in the middle as we are every year, according to Mr Mars.
• 17:31
Speaker 1: All right, Mr Mars.
• 17:32
Speaker 4: Yes sir, we got the contract back the other day.
• 17:34
Speaker 1: We're good, we're looking good, good, good.
• 17:36
  Speaker 1: Well, there's a first.
• 17:39
Speaker 3: We're looking good, you know what?
• 17:40
Speaker 3: Let's start setting up now.
• 17:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it, we're going to do that, all right.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: Well, hey, thanks for stopping by, absolutely.
• 17:46
Speaker 2: Good luck to you today.
• 17:47
Speaker 1: Hope you walk away with a big trophy.
• 17:48
  Speaker 2: I hope so.
• 17:49
Speaker 2: Thanks, guys, thank you All.
• 17:51
Speaker 1: Right time now for the events calendar, not the cruising calendar, the events calendar, and speaking of which, I think that you'll have in there the Autorama, because you realize that this is October 1.
• 18:04
  Speaker 3: Autorama Thanksgiving weekend.
• 18:06
  Speaker 4: Yes.
• 18:06
Speaker 3: It is every year at the George R Brown Convention Center and we'll be there live on Saturday.
• 18:13
Speaker 3: Probably be there Thursday.
• 18:16
  Speaker 4: A little bit.
• 18:16
  Speaker 4: Thursday and Thursday.
• 18:17
Speaker 4: It'll be there Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
• 18:19
Speaker 4: That's right, we're in for the whole thing.
• 18:20
Speaker 3: Come by and see us and you know, other stuff going on is the all British car show at the Butler House off of Gosling Road.
• 18:29
Speaker 1: They're going to push the cars in.
• 18:30
Speaker 3: They're going to tow them out.
• 18:31
Speaker 3: Ha ha, ha ha.
• 18:33
Speaker 3: But if you stay long enough, you can sit there and you can listen to the cars rust.
• 18:38
Speaker 1: There's a listen to them rust.
• 18:40
Speaker 1: There's a sponsor that we'll never have no we won't Maybe the records though.
• 18:45
Speaker 3: The 38th annual Wolf Creek car and truck and bike show at Wolf Creek Park in Cold Spring, the fourth annual Memorial Benefit Taps and Turbo Car Show at no Label Brewing in Katie, and that's going to be on November 4.
• 19:01
Speaker 3: Cruise in Sillsby is tonight as well in Kirby Memorial Stadium in Sillsby, texas, and then Mars, when he leaves here he's going to go to the Nederland Avenue in Texas downtown cruise and show off the truck.
• 19:23
  Speaker 1: Are you Mars?
• 19:23
Speaker 1: Ok, yes, sir, I'll bet you you're not the Northside.
• 19:27
  Speaker 1: Mustang.
• 19:27
Speaker 3: Club who they always tune into the show and we have them on with some frequency.
• 19:32
Speaker 3: They're having their fall open car show November 4 at Bull Salas Park in New Cane Texas.
• 19:39
  Speaker 1: Bull.
• 19:39
Speaker 3: Salas Bull B-U-L-L-S-A-L-L-A-S Park in New Cane, texas, ok.

Speaker 3: And then the 17th annual Heroes and Hot Rods Veterans Day Weekend in downtown Bastrop, held by the Bastrop Area Cruisers.
• 19:54
Speaker 3: Well thank you, sir.
• 19:57
Speaker 1: You know, just watching you read that out of the corner of my eye I see this great big, humongous orange-yellow crane over there and I'm thinking what in the world could they be doing?
• 20:08
Speaker 1: This is an area where a lot of boats are docked.
• 20:10
Speaker 1: Are they dredging one out of?
• 20:12
  Speaker 3: there.
• 20:12
Speaker 3: Do you think Possibly yeah it could be.
• 20:14
Speaker 1: Anyway, we're at the Topwater Grill today at Woody's Waterfront Car Show at San Leon, Texas.
• 20:23
Speaker 3: At the end of San Leon, because you go any further than this and you get wet.
• 20:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, right on Galveston Bay.
• 20:29
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 20:29
Speaker 1: There's that All right, Mr Mars.
• 20:31
Speaker 1: But what a beautiful day has the in-wheel time review of the Infiniti QX60.
• 20:38
Speaker 4: Go, Mr Morris so this is the 2024 Infiniti QX60 Autograph all-wheel drive.
• 20:44
Speaker 4: Now, this vehicle was redesigned in 2022, so they kind of cleaned it up and made a few little updates to it for 2024.
• 20:51
Speaker 4: There's still four trim levels the Pure, the Luxe, the Sensory and the Autograph, which is the one that we have.
• 20:57
Speaker 4: So we were riding in some real style here with the top of the line.
• 21:00
  Speaker 4: This is a three-row mid-sized luxury SUV.
• 21:03
Speaker 4: It can be six or seven passengers.
• 21:05
Speaker 4: Ours was a six passenger because we had the second row captain's chairs.
• 21:09
Speaker 4: And on the outside of it, of course, you're going to find that they've got the new radiant grille emblem, got a lighting package that includes the adaptive headlights, black roof rails, got power folding, heated side mirrors, a power lift gate, got a panoramic sunroof and the vehicle comes standard with some 18-inch wheels, but we have it to be rolling on the 20-inch aluminum wheels.
• 21:30
Speaker 4: They look really, really nice.
• 21:31
Speaker 4: Going to the inside, you're looking at the leather seating surfaces with some ash wood trim.
• 21:37
Speaker 4: It's really sharp-looking wood trim there.
• 21:38
  Speaker 4: It's real wood.
• 21:39
Speaker 4: First row has got power seating, got the heated, got massaging on the first row.
• 21:44
Speaker 4: Second row is heated because we do have the captain's chairs in there.
• 21:49
Speaker 4: Up front we got a 12.3-inch center stack monitor and that's where you're going to find all your convenience controls, your backup camera, all your warning systems are all right there.
• 21:58
Speaker 4: The driver has a 10.8-inch heads-up display, which is really nice, really big.
• 22:03
Speaker 4: You get a lot of information up there.
• 22:04
Speaker 1: Can you see the cars ahead of?
• 22:05
Speaker 4: you If you look over the top of the HUD.
• 22:08
  Speaker 4: Just checking.
• 22:09
Speaker 3: Is it configurable though the driver's instrument cluster?
• 22:12
Speaker 4: Some of it is yes, that's cool.
• 22:13
  Speaker 3: I like that.
• 22:14
  Speaker 3: I think that's a great feature.
• 22:15
Speaker 4: And we also happen to be rolling with the Bose 17-speaker audio system with lots of USB ports and power wireless charging for your cell phone.
• 22:24
Speaker 4: Now, up under the hood we had a 3.5-liter V6, 295 horsepower, 270 pound-feet of torque, backed by a nine-speed automatic transmission.
• 22:32
Speaker 4: Properly equipped, this vehicle will tow 6,000 pounds.
• 22:36
Speaker 4: Epa says you should be looking for 20 in the city, highway 25 combined, 22.
• 22:42
Speaker 4: Now I drove this vehicle 461 miles Pretty busy week.
• 22:46
Speaker 4: I got 20.9 miles per gallon average for that 461 miles.
• 22:51
  Speaker 4: That's pretty good.
• 22:52
Speaker 4: There are five drive modes so you get a lot of selections there that you could choose to drive it.
• 22:56
Speaker 4: It's very easy to drive in the city.
• 22:58
Speaker 4: Even though it's a three-year-old vehicle, it's not that big and the steering end it's very responsive and it's very comfortable to drive out on the highway.
• 23:05
Speaker 4: You can sit there and cruise.
• 23:06
Speaker 4: I can see you running this all the way across Texas for about 20 hours.
• 23:10
Speaker 4: Now the base QX60, you can get into this vehicle for $50,485.
• 23:16
Speaker 4: Now the base autograph is set in that $66,100.
• 23:21
Speaker 4: And the MSRP on the vehicle we were driving is $69,240.
• 23:26
Speaker 4: You're looking for something to compare it to?
• 23:28
Speaker 4: You might look at an Acura MDX starts at $49,850.
• 23:32
Speaker 4: The Audi Q7 steps up to $55,930 to start and then if you really want to get out there, go to the Mercedes-Benz GLE for $62,650 to start.
• 23:41
Speaker 4: But it runs right in there as one of those Mid-sized luxury SUVs.
• 23:46
Speaker 4: It's got plenty of room and plenty of power for the size of the vehicle it is.
• 23:49
Speaker 4: And that's my review of the 2024 QX60.
• 23:53
Speaker 4: Did you have it last?
• 23:55
  Speaker 1: week.
• 23:55
Speaker 1: Yes, yes, so you turned it on Thursday.
• 23:58
  Speaker 1: Yes, I did.
• 23:59
Speaker 1: What did you get?
• 24:00
Speaker 4: I got another Kia the Kona With the local.
• 24:03
Speaker 4: Oh, the new Kona.
• 24:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, with the black stripe on the side of it.
• 24:07
Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, it's growing on me.
• 24:08
  Speaker 1: Kona Is it?
• 24:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, kia's got some issues.
• 24:11
Speaker 3: Kind of like that tumor, Exactly right.
• 24:16
Speaker 1: Do you have a tumor Tuma.
• 24:18
  Speaker 1: A tumor Tuma.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: I think every Kia and Hyundai known demand is being recalled.
• 24:28
Speaker 3: Only for a fire, and they're recalling them for a fire because they've already recalled them for engines and connecting rod failures.
• 24:36
Speaker 1: It's rather disappointing, actually, because I have always been a fan of Kia and Hyundai.
• 24:42
Speaker 1: But three million cars being recalled, that's all of them.
• 24:46
Speaker 1: It's a little, I'm just going to say it's every car that they've ever built, isn't it?
• 24:51
Speaker 4: Well, they were sold in this country.
• 24:54
  Speaker 3: Holy Toledo.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: And then on top of that they're 10-year 100,000-mile warranty.
• 25:01
Speaker 3: That's only eligible for the original owner of the vehicle.
• 25:04
Speaker 3: If you buy one used, you're screwed.
• 25:06
Speaker 3: It's $560, which is where everybody else is.
• 25:09
Speaker 3: So don't buy a used Kia or Hyundai thinking you're going to get a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
• 25:15
Speaker 4: Because I know the EVs are carrying that same 100,000-mile.
• 25:18
Speaker 4: But it's good to know that if you buy a used EV you don't got that Right and that's not unusual.
• 25:27
Speaker 3: You've got to think 100,000-mile warranty when they're recalling the engines and recalling for fires and engine failures.
• 25:36
Speaker 3: It's expensive to the company that sells them, so that's why they cut that warranty.
• 25:40
Speaker 3: And if you've got to think General Motors, back in the early 2000s, they had a five-year 100,000-mile powertrain warranty on it for about three years and then they said, oops, that's too expensive, we're going to go back down to price.
• 25:55
Speaker 4: People found out about that.
• 25:56
  Speaker 3: Yeah $360.
• 25:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's certainly not a good thing.
• 25:59
