- 0:09Speaker 1: Always consult your physician before beginning any new diet, exercise,
- 0:13Speaker 1: or treatment program.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Hey, and welcome to another episode. Today. We are back
- 0:36Speaker 2: live at Wellness Uncensored. My name is Patty g and
- 0:40Speaker 2: I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner. So exciting to be here today.
- 0:44Speaker 2: You know, we are just storming into a new age.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I think of having the ability to just take our
- 0:52Speaker 2: pride in our country and hopefully our mental health and
- 0:56Speaker 2: mental wellness back underhand. I think so much has been
- 1:00Speaker 2: were shadowed for the past I don't know how long.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Let's just say it's been years, especially even before the pandemic.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But the pandemic turned out so many different things. And
- 1:11Speaker 2: while it was an attempt, I think to make it
- 1:14Speaker 2: appear like we were helping people, so much devastation and
- 1:18Speaker 2: destruction was done, not just to the physical body, but
- 1:21Speaker 2: to the mental psyche as well. And the culmination of
- 1:25Speaker 2: what brought this show forward nearly we're in our third
- 1:28Speaker 2: season now was to get information out to folks that
- 1:31Speaker 2: wouldn't otherwise, hear things that don't happen on mainstream media,
- 1:36Speaker 2: and things that many of you probably can't even get
- 1:39Speaker 2: in to, you know, an alternative medicine provider, just I
- 1:45Speaker 2: hear patients every day talking about how difficult it is
- 1:48Speaker 2: for them to you know, get a consult with a urologist,
- 1:53Speaker 2: a cardiologist, their primary care and it's just mind boggling
- 1:58Speaker 2: to me because as we sit here today, you know,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I always make room for patients, and I always make room,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you know, in the other practice that I work in,
- 2:09Speaker 2: we try to keep emergency appointments available because who can
- 2:13Speaker 2: predict a problem? But you're not going to find that
- 2:16Speaker 2: in many places that you go, at least not in
- 2:18Speaker 2: the mainstream world of medicine. And so you know, it's September.
- 2:23Speaker 2: September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and sadly, with all
- 2:29Speaker 2: that we've encountered in the last four or five years,
- 2:32Speaker 2: and you know, I say, it's sad, but we're not
- 2:35Speaker 2: here to give you just doom and gloom. We're here
- 2:38Speaker 2: to give you ideas and tips and things that you
- 2:40Speaker 2: can really take and manifest in your own life, manifest
- 2:44Speaker 2: in your families. And I see anywhere from twenty to
- 2:48Speaker 2: thirty patients to day sometimes and even on the weekends,
- 2:52Speaker 2: and I get a lot of questions and comments and
- 2:56Speaker 2: what ifs and what to do and how and all
- 2:58Speaker 2: this kind of stuff, And so I I want to
- 3:00Speaker 2: pass some of this stuff on because some of this
- 3:03Speaker 2: stuff you can just do taking hold of yourself and
- 3:07Speaker 2: taking your mental wellness or your family's mental wellness back
- 3:12Speaker 2: down to kind of the grassroots, you know, most basic level.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Every week, you know, we're going to bring you some
- 3:18Speaker 2: things here on Wellness and censored. There's ways to reach me,
- 3:22Speaker 2: certainly down at the bottom of your screen. We've got
- 3:25Speaker 2: the pattigillianowllness dot com page. We've also got magnoliab wellness
- 3:30Speaker 2: dot com. That's another great way to reach out. And
- 3:33Speaker 2: if you're looking for tips or supplements or nutrients, I
- 3:37Speaker 2: can certainly help you with questions and answers, whether you
- 3:39Speaker 2: get them from places that I use or places that
- 3:42Speaker 2: I can help you find. But it runs the gamut.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And I literally have some show and tell today of
- 3:48Speaker 2: things that I wanted to kind of go over. But
- 3:51Speaker 2: you know, let's just talk about a couple of things.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You know, I have more people coming in over the
- 3:55Speaker 2: last few weeks with anxiety, fear, intimidation, uncertainty, and a
- 4:02Speaker 2: lot of things that I hear from people are just
- 4:04Speaker 2: they get into the weeds, nitpicky family conflict, friend conflict,
- 4:10Speaker 2: professional conflict. And it all starts with how you approach
- 4:15Speaker 2: a situation. So you know, we can either react or
- 4:18Speaker 2: we can respond. And a lot of times what I
- 4:21Speaker 2: will tell people is and I just had a lead
- 4:23Speaker 2: you this morning. You know you're doing your best, You're
- 4:25Speaker 2: trying to take care of yourself, and things just seem
- 4:27Speaker 2: to come unwired. You come unhinged. Things are just ungluing
- 4:32Speaker 2: before your eyes, and yet you have the best intentions.
- 4:35Speaker 2: One of the simplest things to do, and hopefully you've
- 4:38Speaker 2: tried it, but it does really work, is to take
- 4:40Speaker 2: a deep breath, just go brea it in, start to
- 4:43Speaker 2: let your brain marinate a little bit. Pause a pause.
- 4:49Speaker 2: If you've ever heard about it, it's always a wise
- 4:52Speaker 2: thing to do before you let something out of your
- 4:55Speaker 2: mouth for a number of reasons. One, what you say
- 4:57Speaker 2: you can't take back, and number two, so maybe if
- 5:00Speaker 2: you give yourself just a minute, you may actually say
- 5:03Speaker 2: something that can really be beneficial for yourself and the
- 5:06Speaker 2: person in front of you, as opposed to blah blah
- 5:09Speaker 2: blah you blah blah blah blah. Right. I practice this
- 5:12Speaker 2: myself because one of my greatest challenges in our crowded
- 5:16Speaker 2: world today, you know, driving down the road, you just
- 5:18Speaker 2: often wonder what people are thinking and doing when they're
- 5:21Speaker 2: supposed to be focused on driving. Nothing we can do
- 5:24Speaker 2: about it, but instead we get mad, we yell. We're
- 5:26Speaker 2: basically yelling at you know, a box of steel and
- 5:30Speaker 2: plastic in front of us. And really it's kind of
- 5:33Speaker 2: silly when you think about it. But you can blo
- 5:35Speaker 2: off steam, you can say things in your car and
- 5:38Speaker 2: it's done. It's over with. And you know, I'm not
- 5:40Speaker 2: going to discourage you from just you know, calming yourself down.
- 5:43Speaker 2: But to what level people take it. We've had more
- 5:46Speaker 2: road rage issues, we've had shootings and all kinds of things.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So let's just start with you in the pause. Okay,
- 5:54Speaker 2: when you take a minute to breathe, you're trying to
- 5:56Speaker 2: reset your nervous system. You know, your heart rates rapid.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You're in that fight or flight and just taking a
- 6:03Speaker 2: moment to reset your breathing is really important. You know,
- 6:06Speaker 2: take a breath. Everybody, do it with me, Hold it
- 6:09Speaker 2: and let it out. Don't you feel a bit calmer? Now?
- 6:12Speaker 2: If you do that a few times, it really does
- 6:15Speaker 2: kind of bring your heart rate down, bring your mood,
- 6:17Speaker 2: bring your tone of voice down, and you can focus
- 6:21Speaker 2: and function much better if you do that. So that's
- 6:24Speaker 2: just one simple thing. There's other things that you can
- 6:27Speaker 2: do that are very easy. Take your two fingers, put
- 6:30Speaker 2: them over your chest, over your heart and tap. While
- 6:33Speaker 2: you tap and you breathe, or you tap and you talk.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It is a way of resetting your autonomic nervous system.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Super important to do because people generally struggle with these
- 6:44Speaker 2: kinds of feelings fight or flight, anxiousness, panic, flutter, And
- 6:49Speaker 2: when you're in the moment you're about to go in
- 6:50Speaker 2: front of people to talk, you're about to walk into
- 6:53Speaker 2: a room, you're going to go into the grocery store,
- 6:55Speaker 2: you're going to go into the doctor's office, you're about
- 6:57Speaker 2: to go to your boss's office, whatever it is you're
- 6:58Speaker 2: going to do yourself the benefit of just a pause, tap, breathe,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and off you go. Now, a lot of folks often
- 7:07Speaker 2: ask and they come in and it's so funny because
- 7:10Speaker 2: I give you all the inside scoop and so picture
- 7:13Speaker 2: me in an office or online, and I'm talking to
- 7:15Speaker 2: my patients, and the thing is that they kind of
- 7:18Speaker 2: say or throw at me. I have to always pause
- 7:21Speaker 2: before I say what I'm just like about to blurt out,
- 7:24Speaker 2: because it's real to them, right, your feelings are real.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I can't say that you don't feel what you feel.
- 7:30Speaker 2: But when you start saying something to someone, I always
- 7:34Speaker 2: have to go I wonder if they've really thought about
- 7:37Speaker 2: what they were going to say. I wonder if they've
- 7:39Speaker 2: thought about how they sound, and I wonder if they've
- 7:41Speaker 2: thought of have they really tried things to help themselves?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Now helping yourself. I'm not discouraging you from getting help.
- 7:49Speaker 2: In fact, I'm encouraging everyone. Let this be the year.
- 7:53Speaker 2: As we go into the end of twenty twenty five,
- 7:55Speaker 2: we're in the final quarter, we're going into twenty twenty five,
- 7:59Speaker 2: we're in at the end of twenty twenty five, and
- 8:01Speaker 2: we're going into twenty twenty six in just a few
- 8:03Speaker 2: short weeks, like fourteen weeks. Let's make twenty twenty six
- 8:07Speaker 2: the year that we blow away the stigmas, we blow
- 8:09Speaker 2: away the mindset that my mental health is something that
- 8:13Speaker 2: I have to be ashamed of. You don't. Mental health
- 8:16Speaker 2: is mental wellness, mental issues, mental illness. That's the part
- 8:21Speaker 2: that needs some fixing. But if you're into mental health
- 8:23Speaker 2: and mental wellness, then you're on the road to getting recovery.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And so a lot of times it can't be done alone.
- 8:29Speaker 2: The other part to that is when people come and
- 8:31Speaker 2: they present and they tell me, you know what's going on,
- 8:35Speaker 2: it always runs through my mind, well what are you
- 8:39Speaker 2: doing to take hold? What are you doing to get better?
- 8:43Speaker 2: And a lot of times when they are in front
- 8:45Speaker 2: of me and I say, okay, well let's talk about
- 8:48Speaker 2: and some of you know what I'm going to share.
- 8:50Speaker 2: How are you sleeping, what are you putting in your body?
- 8:53Speaker 2: How are you fueling? What kind of movement are you
- 8:56Speaker 2: getting during the day. And the answer is sometimes to
- 8:59Speaker 2: all three of those is oh, I don't sleep at all,
- 9:01Speaker 2: I'm not hungry, so I don't eat, And oh I
- 9:03Speaker 2: don't believe in exercise. So if you take a minute
- 9:07Speaker 2: and think about that, if you want your car to perform,
- 9:11Speaker 2: it needs a good set of tires, It needs gas,
- 9:15Speaker 2: it needs oil, it needs parts that work and aren't
- 9:18Speaker 2: worn out, and so much like your body. The other thing, too,
- 9:23Speaker 2: is once we don't even turn the car over. Now
- 9:25Speaker 2: we push a button, right, put our foot on the
- 9:27Speaker 2: brake and we push a button. What happens. It's magical.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Right for me, it is because I don't know the
- 9:32Speaker 2: first thing about how to make a car work or
- 9:34Speaker 2: how to keep it running, other than just follow what
- 9:37Speaker 2: they tell me to do. So I take good mechanical
- 9:39Speaker 2: advice because I'm not the expert. So for mental health advice,
- 9:42Speaker 2: what I'm telling you is you have got to consider
- 9:46Speaker 2: what is it that turns your car on. It is
- 9:49Speaker 2: a motherboard of a computer chip. Well, we all have
- 9:51Speaker 2: a motherboard, and it sits just above our neck, at
- 9:55Speaker 2: the base of our or at the base of a skull.
- 9:59Speaker 2: It's our brain. And the brain is a cognitive miracle.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It does things that we don't even know that it does.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And the simple fact I'm sitting here, you guys are
- 10:10Speaker 2: tuning in, we're breathing, our hearts pumping. We don't have
- 10:13Speaker 2: to do anything to make it work. Right generally speaking,
- 10:17Speaker 2: what if we did, do you think we would all
- 10:19Speaker 2: do a good job every day? Some of us might
- 10:22Speaker 2: not return to the awake status. Some of us might
- 10:25Speaker 2: not be able to get our head up off the
- 10:26Speaker 2: pillow because we just can't get that heart to pump
- 10:29Speaker 2: or a breathing to go. So the brain works despite
- 10:33Speaker 2: our inability to make it perform well. It really is
- 10:37Speaker 2: such a well oiled piece of our body, our anatomy,
- 10:42Speaker 2: that even when we don't take good care of it,
- 10:45Speaker 2: it still is going to function. Now, how it's going
- 10:48Speaker 2: to function is really kind of why we're here today
- 10:49Speaker 2: and to talk about some things. And like I said,
- 10:51Speaker 2: I've brought some little things that I do, that I drink,
- 10:54Speaker 2: that I use, and I want to share some things
- 10:57Speaker 2: with you. Even the power of the PA is going
- 11:01Speaker 2: to come in handy for you today. We've got to
- 11:04Speaker 2: start with self care. And when we get past what
- 11:07Speaker 2: we're talking about with self care, I encourage you find
- 11:10Speaker 2: someone else to relate to that you can get some
- 11:12Speaker 2: good tips, follow up on your mental wellness. A good therapist.
- 11:16Speaker 2: There's social workers, there's therapists, there's mental health therapy folks
- 11:20Speaker 2: out there. There's psycho nurse practitioners and all kinds of providers, psychiatrists.
- 11:25Speaker 2: But maybe you need a little more than some self care.
- 11:28Speaker 2: But for right now, try not to go into a
- 11:31Speaker 2: provider and ask them to give you a miracle drug.
- 11:34Speaker 2: There is no such thing, and even the best things
- 11:37Speaker 2: that we can use, and I think there's some fantastic
- 11:39Speaker 2: medications out there that can really be a benefit to
- 11:41Speaker 2: get us on the right track or to lift us
- 11:44Speaker 2: from a place of where we've been. And you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: this goes with all the other episodes we've talked about
- 11:49Speaker 2: where there's there's embedded anxiety and trauma and hurt and
- 11:53Speaker 2: pain and sadness and depression and grief and the inability
- 11:57Speaker 2: to break those cycles. But for today, let's just take
- 11:59Speaker 2: us step forward and you know what are we going
- 12:02Speaker 2: to do? All right? So sleep super important. Not everybody
- 12:05Speaker 2: gets good sleep. There's some basic things that you can
- 12:08Speaker 2: do to get better sleep, wonderful supplements out there. Some
- 12:11Speaker 2: people like to use magnesium, some people like to use gabba.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Gabba is the neurotransmitter that your brain already produces, So
- 12:20Speaker 2: if you put a little more into your body, it's
- 12:22Speaker 2: going to help you to have a nice sound sleep.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So Gaba supplements, it's Gaba. It is not Gaba penton. Gaba.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Penton has components of the gabba neural transmitter in it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But it's Gaba is a supplement, so that's one thing
- 12:37Speaker 2: to look up or you can text our office about.
- 12:39Speaker 2: But if you get a little gaba, people ask about melatonin.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Melatonin is also naturally occurring in your body, and sometimes
- 12:46Speaker 2: we don't make enough of that. And can it get
- 12:48Speaker 2: you to sleep, yes, but it won't keep you to sleep.
- 12:51Speaker 2: So if you mix melatonin and gabba, some supplements have
- 12:55Speaker 2: both in there, that's not only going to get you
- 12:57Speaker 2: to sleep, it is going to keep you to sleep,
- 12:58Speaker 2: which is super important. There are some great little products
- 13:01Speaker 2: out there, and I have to I have to just
- 13:04Speaker 2: share one because it doesn't seem to have any of
- 13:06Speaker 2: the nasty ingredients that I've found that we talked about
- 13:10Speaker 2: prior about B twelve. You want to look for something
- 13:15Speaker 2: that has a methyl B twelve, not a cyan B
- 13:19Speaker 2: twelve cyan cobalamon cyan has traces of cyanide, but metho
- 13:24Speaker 2: cobalamin is B twelve. But this cool little drink, it's
- 13:26Speaker 2: called Recess. It's very calming. It's got adaptogenic herbs. It's
- 13:31Speaker 2: got some juice, it's got pineapple, cranberry, citruc acid. It's
- 13:35Speaker 2: got some other like guava, juices in there, apple papaya,
- 13:39Speaker 2: it's got rose hips, filtered water. It's just a nice
- 13:43Speaker 2: little calming drink, and it's it's like a carbonated water,
- 13:48Speaker 2: no alcohol. Definitely not an energy drink. But again it's
- 13:52Speaker 2: just one that it's like an ousa moment when we
- 13:55Speaker 2: get ourselves to sleep, and hopefully we'll talk a little
- 13:57Speaker 2: bit about sleep again before we wrap up today. But
- 14:00Speaker 2: when you get up in the morning. I can't tell
- 14:02Speaker 2: you how many patients will tell me, Oh, you know,
- 14:04Speaker 2: I just I'm not hungry, not hungry, I'm not doing it.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I get nauseous. I can't eat. I just can't eat.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I have had people tell me not only have I
- 14:12Speaker 2: had people tell me they don't eat till two o'clock
- 14:14Speaker 2: in the afternoon or later. I recently had somebody who
- 14:17Speaker 2: I'll take them at their word because it's their body.
- 14:20Speaker 2: They hadn't eaten in two or three days. That's really
- 14:24Speaker 2: not optimal for your motherboard, your brain. Can you do it? Yeah?
- 14:29Speaker 2: Can you survive long doing it? Probably not so good.
- 14:32Speaker 2: And if you're starting to have symptoms of cognition, concentration,
- 14:38Speaker 2: focus memory, I'm sorry to tell everybody you are not
- 14:41Speaker 2: attention deficit. You are not attention deficit with hyperactivity, you
- 14:47Speaker 2: are brain deficit of nutrition. And until you really feel
- 14:53Speaker 2: the triangle of nutrition, sleep, and activity, you're going to
- 14:57Speaker 2: be hard pressed to help me figure out where you're
- 15:00Speaker 2: add comes from because we have to make sure we
- 15:03Speaker 2: have the foundation right. It's just like if you were
- 15:06Speaker 2: laying in a bed and we wanted to give you medication.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Medication alone will not sustain you. We saw that sadly
- 15:13Speaker 2: with COVID. Patients were medicated out the wazoo, remember some
- 15:17Speaker 2: of our prior shows, And they weren't hydrated, and they
- 15:20Speaker 2: weren't nourished, and essentially what happened to a lot of
- 15:23Speaker 2: people during the pandemic. They were just pumped and pumped
- 15:26Speaker 2: and pumped with what they thought was life saving medication,
- 15:28Speaker 2: and they dried out, their kidneys shut down, and they died.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So hydration is super important. Nutrition is super important. When
- 15:36Speaker 2: you get up in the morning, if you can't eat
- 15:38Speaker 2: a breakfast, it's totally fine. But when you wake up
- 15:41Speaker 2: and you grab your coffee or grab what you enjoy
- 15:43Speaker 2: a drink, grab a protein drink. Okay, there's lots of
- 15:47Speaker 2: them out there on the market. This one's great. A
- 15:50Speaker 2: lot of them are twenty or thirty grams of protein.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I don't need you to chug it. You're not going
- 15:55Speaker 2: to be a performance athlete. We're going for every day living.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Mom's dad, kids eight years old enough, Get a little protein.
- 16:03Speaker 2: If your kids are picky eaters, find a pre made
- 16:06Speaker 2: protein drink that they like. The ones that are powder filled,
- 16:10Speaker 2: and you know the powder ones have you got to
- 16:13Speaker 2: mix them up and sometimes they settle out. You got
- 16:15Speaker 2: to keep shaking them to drink. The premade ones are
- 16:17Speaker 2: very creamy, they taste good, They're good for you. And
- 16:21Speaker 2: what are we doing. We are starting to fill the
- 16:23Speaker 2: gas tank to fill the brain, to get the brain
- 16:25Speaker 2: to start firing correctly. Do this for two weeks and
- 16:28Speaker 2: tell me. If you don't feel a little bit better,
- 16:30Speaker 2: now that's your morning. Everyone needs to know. The amount
- 16:34Speaker 2: of protein that you should have in your body every
- 16:36Speaker 2: day is approximately your goal body weight. And we'll make
- 16:41Speaker 2: it simple. Say you're one hundred pounds and you're happy there.
- 16:44Speaker 2: You need one hundred grams of protein every day. Why
- 16:49Speaker 2: Because it's going to fuel your brain, it's going to
- 16:52Speaker 2: let you think clearly, it's going to let you remember,
- 16:54Speaker 2: it's going to let you have focus. And this is
- 16:57Speaker 2: just the general let's let's fill the curve with the foundation.
- 17:02Speaker 2: You don't have to do it all in drinks, and
- 17:04Speaker 2: I'm not suggesting that you do drinks only, but if
- 17:06Speaker 2: you are having trouble getting in all the grams that
- 17:09Speaker 2: you need, then do some drinks, do some protein, either
- 17:12Speaker 2: powder or pre made drinks, and then finish it up
- 17:15Speaker 2: with salmon, chicken, beef, pomus and mommy peanut butter. Avocado.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Avocado is good because it's got some fats in it,
- 17:25Speaker 2: but you have to fuel your brain, and you have
- 17:28Speaker 2: to fuel with protein, and protein's long standing. Then you
- 17:31Speaker 2: can minimize the carbs. Also, when you fuel with protein,
- 17:33Speaker 2: you're also cutting a lot of the desire to want
- 17:37Speaker 2: to overeat, binge eat or creating salts and sweets, so
- 17:42Speaker 2: it can be helpful that way. So that's just the
- 17:45Speaker 2: foundation there of some of the nutrition and hydration. We've
- 17:49Speaker 2: talked about this a lot of times. You need half
- 17:52Speaker 2: of your body weights. So again, if you're a hundred pounds,
- 17:55Speaker 2: I have people that barely put down a bottle of
- 17:57Speaker 2: water a day. You're one hundred pounds, you need fifty
- 17:59Speaker 2: ounces and most of the general sized body or bottles
- 18:03Speaker 2: of water are about ten ounces, so if you're a
- 18:06Speaker 2: little one hundred pound thing, you need five bottles from
- 18:10Speaker 2: the time you wake up to the time you go
- 18:12Speaker 2: to bed. I know that sounds like a lot to
- 18:14Speaker 2: some people, but it's hard because when we're drinking water,
- 18:17Speaker 2: it doesn't necessarily satisfy a craving unless you're thirsty. So
- 18:22Speaker 2: to the rescue, I brought a show and tell again
- 18:25Speaker 2: if you're tuning in and you can see it if
- 18:26Speaker 2: you can't, it's branch chain amino acids. There's lots of
- 18:30Speaker 2: them out there, but BCIA it's branch chain amino acids. Generally.
- 18:34Speaker 2: What it's got in there are several different amino acid groups.
- 18:38Speaker 2: There's really no fillers. Some of them will have a
- 18:40Speaker 2: little calcium, little magnesium, some sodium and potassium for electrolytes.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It's very good to have before workout, even after workout.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I put this in my drinks throughout the day, and
- 18:52Speaker 2: if you need five bottles of water a day, while
- 18:56Speaker 2: these are great like this, will say one scoop, a
- 18:58Speaker 2: full scoop in a ten bottle of water maybe too sweet.
- 19:02Speaker 2: So what I want you to do is just use
- 19:04Speaker 2: a half a scoop scoop it to taste, so that
- 19:07Speaker 2: at least it's appealing, and you'll be more app to
- 19:10Speaker 2: drink something it tastes good that quenches your thirst. And
- 19:13Speaker 2: the branch chain aminos. This is green apple melon, but
- 19:17Speaker 2: there's blueberry, strawberry, you name it, they've got a flavor
- 19:21Speaker 2: for it. Be careful. Most of them do not have
- 19:24Speaker 2: any kind of caffeine in it, but there are a
- 19:26Speaker 2: few fancy high performance ones out there. Now you're going
- 19:29Speaker 2: about your day, You've had your protein, you've got your
- 19:32Speaker 2: branch chain aminos. You may even have just a Seltzer
- 19:35Speaker 2: water or some kind of relaxing water drink. What else
- 19:39Speaker 2: can you do? We talked about breathing. I have a
- 19:42Speaker 2: little chart, and if you can't see it, I'm going
- 19:45Speaker 2: to read it to you. But it's really pretty cool
- 19:47Speaker 2: and easy to see. But this is like a quick
- 19:49Speaker 2: and easy five four three two one. Okay, I'm going
- 19:52Speaker 2: to talk about this. It's a grounding technique. I just
- 19:55Speaker 2: did it myself before I came on the air today,
- 19:58Speaker 2: and I thought it was really important because I don't
- 20:00Speaker 2: know about you, but do you go from sun up
- 20:02Speaker 2: to sundown and your head hits the pill and you're like,
- 20:04Speaker 2: what did I accomplish today? What did I see today?
- 20:07Speaker 2: You know, we are busy, and I hate that. I
- 20:10Speaker 2: hate that we don't have more time to really smell
- 20:12Speaker 2: the roses. But that's up to us to change our routine.
- 20:15Speaker 2: And I encourage you to do that as well, and
- 20:18Speaker 2: take a minute. You've got to take time. I've got
- 20:20Speaker 2: some patience. I heard one gal today. She does such
- 20:22Speaker 2: a great job with self care. She does hot baths,
- 20:26Speaker 2: she does pilates, she gets her nails done, she went
- 20:29Speaker 2: in for a quick botox touch me up, and I
- 20:34Speaker 2: was just so impressed because normally, when I ask my patients,
- 20:36Speaker 2: all right, so what have you done for self care
- 20:38Speaker 2: this month? I get a big sigh and I'm like, well,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I've been too busy. If you don't take care of you,
- 20:43Speaker 2: who will. So the five four three two one grounding
- 20:47Speaker 2: is just like you breathe, and you take a deep
- 20:49Speaker 2: breath in right, look around. What do you see? Look
- 20:53Speaker 2: at the colors, look at the movement of things, look
- 20:56Speaker 2: at anything in nature that you can the number four.
- 21:00Speaker 2: After you're looking around, what do you feel? Maybe you
- 21:03Speaker 2: can reach out and touch a leaf? A flower, a branch.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Maybe you've got a cold drink in your hand and
- 21:09Speaker 2: you realize that, oh, while this is still cold, I'm
- 21:11Speaker 2: going to drink it during the show, because drinking warm
- 21:14Speaker 2: protein doesn't taste so good. And then listen, like pause
- 21:18Speaker 2: for a moment, and we're going to pause for a
- 21:20Speaker 2: moment at the end of end of our show today,
- 21:23Speaker 2: a pause for a moment. What do you hear now
- 21:25Speaker 2: right now? For me, it's wonderful because everyone's behaving. I
- 21:29Speaker 2: don't have any sound disruptions. But it's a beautiful sound
- 21:33Speaker 2: to me because I can talk uninterrupted and I'm hearing things,
- 21:36Speaker 2: and I'm hearing peace and quiet, and sometimes that's what
- 21:38Speaker 2: you need to hear. The last two things, Number two,
- 21:42Speaker 2: what can you smell? You know, if I take an
- 21:45Speaker 2: I smell there's actually a nice sweet smell to the
- 21:47Speaker 2: adaptogenic herbs and the iguana that's in here. And then
- 21:51Speaker 2: what can you taste? And maybe just your palette you're
- 21:54Speaker 2: starting to notice, you know, I've got a real taste
- 21:57Speaker 2: for a nice vanilla protein drink, or I've got a
- 22:00Speaker 2: real taste I want something a little sweeter, and I
- 22:02Speaker 2: have to keep a plug here. Coconut milk very underused,
- 22:06Speaker 2: very underrated, and there's so many good ones out there.
- 22:09Speaker 2: If you took a swig of a protein drink or
- 22:13Speaker 2: a coconut milk, it just makes you feel good because
- 22:16Speaker 2: you're doing something healthy for your body. So the grounding technique,
- 22:20Speaker 2: not only is it good to replicate a couple of
- 22:23Speaker 2: times a day, if you can actually ground yourself. Look
- 22:27Speaker 2: at what you can see, think about things you can feel,
- 22:30Speaker 2: What can you hear, what can you smell, and what
- 22:33Speaker 2: can you taste? Take your shoes off, go put your
- 22:36Speaker 2: feet out in the grass or the dirt or the sand,
- 22:40Speaker 2: or just outside on the patiom. Is it cool, is
- 22:43Speaker 2: it warm? What does it feel? Your body passes through
- 22:46Speaker 2: positive and negative ions of energy. We are energized beings.
- 22:50Speaker 2: It's so important to feel and be energized. So the
- 22:54Speaker 2: grounding technique, your pawse, the breathing technique, they're all very important.
- 23:00Speaker 2: We've already started talking about how do we fuel our
- 23:02Speaker 2: body when we get up in the morning. Now we're
- 23:04Speaker 2: into the afternoon. Same thing. Maybe you're a little more hungry,
- 23:08Speaker 2: maybe you want to do some things for lunch or dinner.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Always try to lead with protein. Protein is super important,
- 23:14Speaker 2: and I can't stress it enough. As you get through
- 23:17Speaker 2: the fueling of your body, you know, we all have
- 23:19Speaker 2: cravings for things a sweet tooth, a salty tooth, whatever
- 23:22Speaker 2: it may be. If you're struggling with that, the more
- 23:25Speaker 2: you do the nutrition piece, with the protein and with hydration,
- 23:30Speaker 2: the less apt you're going to be binging, the less
- 23:32Speaker 2: apt you're going to be to be hungry or craving things.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Your sweet tooth will go away. You lead your portions
- 23:38Speaker 2: and you eat your protein first, then go to a vegetable,
- 23:42Speaker 2: then go to your other stuff, the carbohydrate or the
- 23:45Speaker 2: fruit or the bread, and always try to make your
- 23:48Speaker 2: portion bigger. With the protein, you can still enjoy my
- 23:51Speaker 2: favorite downfall, mac and cheese. I think I've actually had
- 23:54Speaker 2: it twice this week, which I normally have at once.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You know, you can still have those things, don't need
- 24:00Speaker 2: to have the whole bowl. I will tell you a
- 24:02Speaker 2: quick little story. I don't think I shared it last
- 24:04Speaker 2: week because we were on quite the mission trying to
- 24:08Speaker 2: recover from some of the things that have just really
- 24:10Speaker 2: rocked our world emotionally. When I last a week before last,
- 24:16Speaker 2: was hungry and I went all day and I didn't
- 24:18Speaker 2: really do what I try to do every day. By
- 24:21Speaker 2: the end of the day, it was close to nine,
- 24:22Speaker 2: nine thirty and we ordered a pizza. I was just
- 24:25Speaker 2: starving and I was salavating because I can't really tell
- 24:27Speaker 2: you the last time I had pizza, because I could
- 24:29Speaker 2: argue a nutritional value. But the pizza arrived at ten
- 24:33Speaker 2: fifteen and I just devoured three pieces. It was delicious.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I even had it with black olives on top, because
- 24:39Speaker 2: I think they're pretty tasty. I went to bed probably
- 24:42Speaker 2: forty five minutes later because I wanted to digest, which
- 24:45Speaker 2: was not nearly enough time to digest the pizza. When
- 24:48Speaker 2: I tell you, it was so noticeable to me. How
- 24:51Speaker 2: I woke up the next day. I was in a fog.
- 24:54Speaker 2: I could not think clearly. I had this dull headache
- 24:57Speaker 2: in my brain, and I was just not able to
- 25:02Speaker 2: be in my normal groove. Going through my first couple
- 25:05Speaker 2: of patients in the morning, and I realized what it was.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You know, you're eating late, you're eating heavy, You're really
- 25:12Speaker 2: eating junk. I probably should have just had a protein
- 25:15Speaker 2: drink and called it a day. Folks. You guys do
- 25:18Speaker 2: this all the time, So why do you think you're
- 25:22Speaker 2: not sharp. Why do you think you're not clear? It's
- 25:24Speaker 2: because you're not fueling your body. We all want food
- 25:28Speaker 2: to taste good, and it's okay to go out and
- 25:30Speaker 2: have dinner out and celebrate with friends and family, But
- 25:33Speaker 2: do you need to have processed foods every day? It's
- 25:37Speaker 2: up to you. You get to decide how you want
- 25:39Speaker 2: to feel. A lot of these things that I'm talking
- 25:41Speaker 2: about today, they're so foundational because I'll get people that
- 25:44Speaker 2: will come in and we'll talk about it, and there's
- 25:47Speaker 2: symptoms that go along, and we'll talk about what can
- 25:49Speaker 2: we do from a psychiatry perspective, and yeah, sure, I've
- 25:53Speaker 2: got some good medications that can help lift your mood,
- 25:56Speaker 2: and I can do some stuff medications that are going
- 25:59Speaker 2: to help calm your anxiety. We've even got tools and
- 26:02Speaker 2: techniques we've talked about on other shows about TMS Transcranial
- 26:05Speaker 2: magnetic therapy. Highly recommend it. It does what medicine can't do,
- 26:10Speaker 2: and it does what even you can't do alone. It
- 26:13Speaker 2: will repair your brain like nothing else, and it takes
- 26:17Speaker 2: time and commitment. Just like eating right, You're not going
- 26:20Speaker 2: to feel better overnight. And I think that's the other
- 26:22Speaker 2: part that I wanted to share with you guys. You know,
- 26:25Speaker 2: people get frustrated. I had one person want to change
- 26:28Speaker 2: medications three times in a week. We don't tile and
- 26:31Speaker 2: all in motrin. While they serve a purpose, nothing is
- 26:34Speaker 2: going to give you relief overnight when you've got a
- 26:37Speaker 2: lifetime or weeks or months of symptoms, if you've been
- 26:40Speaker 2: eating bad, or if you've been feeling bad for weeks,
- 26:43Speaker 2: there's nothing that we can put you on that's going
- 26:45Speaker 2: to make you feel good overnight. And it's sad because
- 26:48Speaker 2: we're trying to get you to be realistic, but sometimes
- 26:50Speaker 2: folks just don't understand that. So this is why I
- 26:54Speaker 2: think it's so important to do a little self help,
- 26:56Speaker 2: a little self care. You can start these things and
- 26:59Speaker 2: then and if you still are having symptoms, now you've
- 27:03Speaker 2: got something to bring to your therapist or to your
- 27:05Speaker 2: provider and say I am eating, I am sleeping, I'm
- 27:09Speaker 2: even working out, and let's talk about that. You go
- 27:13Speaker 2: through the day, you're eating better, you're hydrating, you're nourishing.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Sleep is pretty good. But all you do is go
- 27:19Speaker 2: to work and come home and some of you, how
- 27:22Speaker 2: many people work all day and you're on your feet
- 27:24Speaker 2: and you're tired. That is not typically a cardiovascular workout.
- 27:29Speaker 2: That is not going to get you an endorphin release.
- 27:32Speaker 2: If you are moving boxes from shelves, pack and orders,
- 27:35Speaker 2: or if you're in an office and you're running and
- 27:37Speaker 2: you're moving people around, or you're going from meeting to meeting,
- 27:40Speaker 2: building the building, what is your brain thinking about. It's
- 27:43Speaker 2: thinking about stress, that's thinking about deadlines and thinking about
- 27:46Speaker 2: getting things done. How many endorphins do you think your
- 27:49Speaker 2: brain is releasing and shooting around dopamine and some serotonin.
- 27:54Speaker 2: It's not so. When I want you to get body movement,
- 27:59Speaker 2: start with walking mindless walking. You can walk your dog,
- 28:03Speaker 2: you can walk with a friend or a spouse, Like,
- 28:06Speaker 2: get out there and walk, and while you're walking, do
- 28:10Speaker 2: the grounding technique. Be aware of what's around. When you
- 28:13Speaker 2: stimulate the senses, you are stimulating your mind and you're
- 28:17Speaker 2: getting an endorphin release. If you see a cute puppy,
- 28:20Speaker 2: it's kind of cool, right, you're like, oh, the cute puppy.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Or if you see a cute little baby, Oh, the
- 28:25Speaker 2: cute little baby. If you see a pretty flower, oh,
- 28:28Speaker 2: look at the color and the texture and it smells
- 28:31Speaker 2: so good. You're getting an immediate hit of dopamine. We
- 28:34Speaker 2: don't get that enough in our day. And that's why
- 28:36Speaker 2: when I went outside today and I'm having a good day,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I had not had any real hit of dopamine because
- 28:44Speaker 2: I've been busy and working and talking to people and
- 28:47Speaker 2: doing my job. And I was outside and I was like, Oh,
- 28:50Speaker 2: I want you all to have an AWE moment, you know,
- 28:52Speaker 2: and if you can't have an all moment, an USA
- 28:55Speaker 2: moment before the day is over, trying to have that
- 28:57Speaker 2: awe USA moment, get your brain some natural dopamine release.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Why do you think people develop habbits and behaviors and
- 29:05Speaker 2: addictive tendencies because they're not getting a normal, natural release
- 29:10Speaker 2: of things. Now, again, there are other factors that lead
- 29:13Speaker 2: into those things too, but let's get some feel good.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Let's get some dopamine release, and your body needs to move,
- 29:20Speaker 2: and not one of you can tell me otherwise. And
- 29:23Speaker 2: you know, we're pretty silent on the calls today, so
- 29:25Speaker 2: I'm hoping that I'm providing good information and good instruction.
- 29:29Speaker 2: But if you got a question, feel free to tune
- 29:31Speaker 2: in text us or call. I'm happy to answer your questions.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Some days we get a list I can't even keep
- 29:36Speaker 2: up with. But if you're out there, you know, why
- 29:38Speaker 2: can't you exercise? You don't like? Okay, Well there's got
- 29:42Speaker 2: to be something for everybody. And if you get the
- 29:45Speaker 2: good feeling after you do something, you're gonna want to
- 29:48Speaker 2: do it. You know, we like to eat ice cream.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Do you get a good feeling after you eat it?
- 29:53Speaker 2: Maybe for five minutes, but then you get the up
- 29:55Speaker 2: When you exercise, walk, jog, get on an elliptical, get
- 30:00Speaker 2: on a rower, do twenty five jumping jacks. You can't
- 30:04Speaker 2: tell me that after you do that for just a
- 30:05Speaker 2: few minutes you don't feel a release. We're like, whoa
- 30:08Speaker 2: a little charge? We need those little positive charges. Those
- 30:12Speaker 2: positive chargers are what helped to make up a good
- 30:15Speaker 2: healthy mental balance. And I would be remiss to say
- 30:19Speaker 2: if any of you are not feeling your best self,
- 30:23Speaker 2: you can literally jump on put YouTube, up on your laptop,
- 30:27Speaker 2: or up on your TV screen. You don't have to
- 30:29Speaker 2: worry about who's going to see you in your sweats
- 30:31Speaker 2: or in your clothes you wear at home, and you
- 30:34Speaker 2: are going to be able to just do some of
- 30:37Speaker 2: the moves that they do. You can type in exercise
- 30:39Speaker 2: video dancing, stretching video, yoga video. Do it in the
- 30:45Speaker 2: comfort of your home. You don't have to drive anywhere.
- 30:47Speaker 2: You don't have to drive back, you don't have to
- 30:49Speaker 2: get your car and be all sweaty. Do it in
- 30:51Speaker 2: your home, but do it. You've got to do it.
- 30:55Speaker 2: And if you don't feel your best, then that's on you,
- 30:58Speaker 2: because we can help you feel better and you're gonna
- 31:00Speaker 2: love if you start trying this. I challenge anybody do
- 31:03Speaker 2: this for two weeks and tell me if you don't
- 31:05Speaker 2: feel a little bit better. We've got hydration, we've got protein,
- 31:08Speaker 2: we've got branch chain aminos, we've got body movement. Really
- 31:12Speaker 2: ideally twenty minutes, four to five times a week. And
- 31:15Speaker 2: if you stop and think about all the times you
- 31:17Speaker 2: sat on the sofa, you've sat in your chair, where
- 31:20Speaker 2: you've laid in bed for an extra hour, why can't
- 31:22Speaker 2: you take twenty minutes and do some movement, even if
- 31:26Speaker 2: you get on the floor and you don't use a video.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Just do some stretches, do some pushups, do a plank,
- 31:31Speaker 2: do some jumpin jacks, do burpies? Anybody like to do burpies.
- 31:36Speaker 2: I hate burpies, and I'm supposed to be doing burpies
- 31:39Speaker 2: this weekend at Orange Theory, and I'm just not looking
- 31:42Speaker 2: forward to them. So even if you don't like it,
- 31:45Speaker 2: it's good for you. Got to do it, you know.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I wanted to also touch on, just very briefly, there's
- 31:51Speaker 2: other things you can do at a higher, more nutrient
- 31:54Speaker 2: intense level. And I am just a big fan of
- 31:58Speaker 2: going to get an IV boost. I talk about it
- 32:01Speaker 2: to patients all the time, but did you know you
- 32:03Speaker 2: can go and you've got to google to your area
- 32:06Speaker 2: because they're almost everywhere here where I'm at, I've got
- 32:09Speaker 2: two or three different places, but you can get an
- 32:11Speaker 2: IV boost of like be complex, vitamin C, magnesium, lucathion,
- 32:17Speaker 2: which is a great master detoxifier, different amino acids. Some
- 32:23Speaker 2: of my favorites are getting an AD and ANYC and
- 32:27Speaker 2: we talk about those a fair amount. Here. You can
- 32:30Speaker 2: get any D in ANYC in a supplement, but a
- 32:33Speaker 2: lot of places they'll have their protocols. You can ask
- 32:36Speaker 2: the staff there what they recommend. They're usually very knowledgeable.
- 32:40Speaker 2: But it's so nice to get an IV once a
- 32:42Speaker 2: month to give your body a nice vitamin IV boost. Vitamins,
- 32:47Speaker 2: minerals you can't go wrong. There's a lot of different
- 32:49Speaker 2: ones out there. Like I said, you can even now
- 32:52Speaker 2: get B twelve shots. Most of the places charged between
- 32:55Speaker 2: fifteen and thirty dollars a shot, you know, a shot
- 32:59Speaker 2: a day. It's the doctor away, right. I need you, guys,
- 33:02Speaker 2: to really get yourself mentally and physically healthy. It's the
- 33:06Speaker 2: only way you're going to optimize to be your best self.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Stay well, stay out of the doctor's office, and feel good.
- 33:13Speaker 2: And if you feel good, what's going to happen your
- 33:16Speaker 2: work life? Balance your relationships, your engagement with other people,
- 33:22Speaker 2: engagement with your kids, engagement with your parents, that kind
- 33:26Speaker 2: of interaction with people. You're going to be more positive
- 33:29Speaker 2: and more upbeat. It's super important. But I really do.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I love getting those ivs I do in myself. People
- 33:36Speaker 2: often wonder how I get so much done in a day.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Sometimes it's my own, you know, mental madness, because I
- 33:42Speaker 2: do put a lot in a day. But I also
- 33:44Speaker 2: don't have trouble sleeping. And I always manage to work
- 33:47Speaker 2: out at least five usually six days a week, running
- 33:50Speaker 2: about two to three miles each time. And I've built
- 33:53Speaker 2: up to that. I don't do that, you know, from
- 33:55Speaker 2: zero to sixty. In fact, you know the story I
- 33:58Speaker 2: shared about when I had COVID and when I was sick,
- 34:01Speaker 2: I was so debilitated. That's the reason why I try
- 34:05Speaker 2: to bring you guys mental wellness. And I want to
- 34:09Speaker 2: take us to the last part of our show here
- 34:11Speaker 2: today to talk about your mental wellness. You've got to
- 34:15Speaker 2: develop a why, and you've got to develop a why
- 34:18Speaker 2: for you that's so powerful and so strong that it
- 34:21Speaker 2: keeps you going even in the hardest times. Right, the
- 34:24Speaker 2: mental psyche is very delicate, and I describe it with
- 34:29Speaker 2: folks as when you have things happen in your life,
- 34:32Speaker 2: you can really fracture your mental psyche. And who's there
- 34:35Speaker 2: for you? Who do you go to? Who do you
- 34:37Speaker 2: talk to? You know? Again, I mentioned being its National
- 34:41Speaker 2: suicide Prevention Month nine to eight eight is a national hotline.
- 34:45Speaker 2: If you feel like you have nowhere else to go
- 34:47Speaker 2: and no one else to talk to, please please, please
- 34:50Speaker 2: know that you're that important, because you may hear something
- 34:54Speaker 2: that'll get you to think about another reason, another reason
- 34:58Speaker 2: to be here, another reason, And to call a friend,
- 35:00Speaker 2: another reason, to call a family member. It's so important
- 35:04Speaker 2: and keep that number. And if you have someone that's
- 35:07Speaker 2: around you that you don't know what to say, and
- 35:10Speaker 2: they're saying things about hurting themselves, or they don't want
- 35:13Speaker 2: to be here. They start doing things, giving them giving
- 35:16Speaker 2: their things away, or they're not showing up to events
- 35:19Speaker 2: like you used to see them. And certainly plug in.
- 35:22Speaker 2: We've got our QRS code up there. It'll get you
- 35:25Speaker 2: to all the information that you need about things that
- 35:28Speaker 2: I have, things that I offer, things that if you
- 35:30Speaker 2: have questions about, I can help you with, and both
- 35:32Speaker 2: of my books as well, and we'll talk about that
- 35:35Speaker 2: too quickly. But use the number nine eight eight. Give
- 35:38Speaker 2: it to a friend. I've had people so sadly who
- 35:41Speaker 2: have lost friends to suicide and they said they just
- 35:44Speaker 2: didn't know what to do and they wish they were
- 35:45Speaker 2: there for them. If you ever feel like you're missing
- 35:48Speaker 2: an opportunity and you want another opportunity, as you're talking
- 35:52Speaker 2: to someone, hey say, hey man, you know I can't
- 35:54Speaker 2: get with you today. I'm working late, I can't be there.
- 35:57Speaker 2: But you know, if you really need help, you know
- 36:00Speaker 2: I heard this number ninety eight. Maybe somebody can give
- 36:03Speaker 2: you some ideas and some tips to do. And I'd
- 36:06Speaker 2: be remiss. I wanted to share this as we kind
- 36:09Speaker 2: of fast forward just again, I'll be doing tributes to
- 36:12Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk for I don't know how long. He was
- 36:15Speaker 2: very inspiring to me on many different levels, probably more
- 36:20Speaker 2: squared away than many of us, and he had a mission.
- 36:24Speaker 2: His mission started with faith, and I think faith is
- 36:28Speaker 2: probably the biggest foundation that you can put around mental
- 36:32Speaker 2: health because when you're upset, you don't know what to do.
- 36:35Speaker 2: First place to reach out say a prayer. You know, God,
- 36:38Speaker 2: help me God, I don't know what to do. Charlie
- 36:41Speaker 2: Kirk was bold, and I think a lot more of
- 36:45Speaker 2: us can learn. When you feel good, when you have
- 36:49Speaker 2: created your best self, you can be bold and bold
- 36:53Speaker 2: in a good way, bold in a humble way, but
- 36:55Speaker 2: bold in a way that you can be there for
- 36:56Speaker 2: your kids, bold in a way that you can be
- 36:58Speaker 2: there for your spouse, that you can be there in
- 37:01Speaker 2: a way for other people. Because people look to you,
- 37:04Speaker 2: A lot of people look to Charlie. A lot of
- 37:06Speaker 2: people challenge Charlie. And it's sad because I think a
- 37:09Speaker 2: lot of the people that challenge Charlie, I feel sorry
- 37:12Speaker 2: for them because most of them were hurting, and sadly,
- 37:14Speaker 2: in their hurt, they deprived him of his life. They
- 37:18Speaker 2: assassinated him. When people hurt, you don't know the depths
- 37:21Speaker 2: of their hurt, and so all things that we've talked
- 37:24Speaker 2: about today in terms of feeling better, fueling yourself. If
- 37:27Speaker 2: you're in crisis, if you need help, or if you're
- 37:30Speaker 2: just in uncertainty, don't hesitate to reach out and get
- 37:33Speaker 2: the guidance to improve how you feel and get strong.
- 37:38Speaker 2: And really, it could start with your faith, It could
- 37:40Speaker 2: start with church. I've had patients that have started they
- 37:43Speaker 2: reached out to someone, a person at their church, counseling guidance,
- 37:48Speaker 2: a pastor. From there, they reached out to get, you know,
- 37:51Speaker 2: additional help and support. But these are things that if
- 37:54Speaker 2: you don't know what to talk about or who to
- 37:56Speaker 2: talk about with, that's a great place to start. And
- 37:59Speaker 2: you know, I am. I'm proud to say that at
- 38:01Speaker 2: least I was able to yet to know some of
- 38:04Speaker 2: the wisdom that Charlie passed on to a lot of
- 38:08Speaker 2: us and proudly carry that forward. I think we can
- 38:11Speaker 2: all do a better job and be a little bit
- 38:12Speaker 2: more like Charlie and that foundation of faith in what
- 38:15Speaker 2: you believe in, it's about people, it's about kindness. It's
- 38:19Speaker 2: about family, It's about our vertical alignment. Vertical alignment is God,
- 38:25Speaker 2: family right and all the things you do. And if
- 38:30Speaker 2: you have that, continue to go forward with it. If
- 38:33Speaker 2: you don't, I encourage you to seek it out and
- 38:36Speaker 2: find it. I think misunderstood a lot of times. Folks,
- 38:40Speaker 2: at least in the controversy, shared things that he was
- 38:43Speaker 2: bold in the wrong wrong topics, and he wasn't giving
- 38:48Speaker 2: people's choices and people views enough appreciation or understanding. And
- 38:54Speaker 2: I'm just going to stay on the side of Charlie.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Charlie was one who had his vertical alignment correct. I
- 39:00Speaker 2: think that Turning Point is going to carry on a
- 39:02Speaker 2: bigger mission. And we're here at Wellness and Sensor to
- 39:06Speaker 2: support a lot of the foundation. But for me personally
- 39:09Speaker 2: to all of you, I also recommend starting a journal.
- 39:13Speaker 2: You may not have time, you may not think what
- 39:14Speaker 2: do I need to write? But this one is particularly
- 39:17Speaker 2: called a gratitude journal. And why I like any kind
- 39:20Speaker 2: of writing is because when you take your thoughts and
- 39:22Speaker 2: you put them on paper, it helps you not only
- 39:25Speaker 2: to act upon them, but it also helps you to
- 39:28Speaker 2: create what you want in your life. And that's super important.
- 39:33Speaker 2: You know, if you're down and you're low and you
- 39:35Speaker 2: don't think anything's going well, write down the negative things
- 39:38Speaker 2: that you feel. But then if you write down five
- 39:41Speaker 2: negative things, then you need to write down five positive
- 39:43Speaker 2: things of what you hope for, what you want, maybe
- 39:47Speaker 2: something good that did happen despite the five negative things
- 39:50Speaker 2: that you wrote down, and start looking at every day.
- 39:53Speaker 2: You know, these are all things that are out there
- 39:57Speaker 2: in books and podcasts and in life and teaching, and
- 40:02Speaker 2: I'm kind of giving you a chock full message of
- 40:05Speaker 2: how to start your triangle of wellness. And if you
- 40:09Speaker 2: fuel your body, you move your body, you positively affirm
- 40:13Speaker 2: and write down things. You step outside, you put your
- 40:17Speaker 2: feet in the dirt, and in any situation you stop
- 40:20Speaker 2: and pause and breathe and go five four three two one.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Ground yourself. See what you look, how you feel, what
- 40:28Speaker 2: you hear, your smell, what you smell and taste. You're
- 40:31Speaker 2: going to give yourself a foundation and start doing it
- 40:34Speaker 2: every day. In two weeks, we'll come back and I'd
- 40:38Speaker 2: love to hear from you. You know, We've got lots
- 40:41Speaker 2: of other things that we can talk about too, And
- 40:43Speaker 2: you know today we won't have time to get into
- 40:45Speaker 2: all of them. But I will tell you there's great supplements,
- 40:48Speaker 2: there's great other things that you can use to help
- 40:51Speaker 2: fuel you and feel better. If you tap onto my
- 40:55Speaker 2: QRS code or if you go on to magnoliasell patch
- 40:58Speaker 2: dot com. You know, that's even a little addedive of
- 41:02Speaker 2: using the life Wave cell patches. You can get them
- 41:05Speaker 2: with a discount when you go onto my site. But
- 41:07Speaker 2: the cell patches help you to promote and create more stems,
- 41:12Speaker 2: stem cells in your body and healthy cells by the
- 41:16Speaker 2: production of stem cells are just another natural way to
- 41:19Speaker 2: improve your body's wellness. It's a very good way for
- 41:23Speaker 2: you to stay strong. It's a way to stay well,
- 41:25Speaker 2: it's a way to stay positive. You know. It's just
- 41:29Speaker 2: one of those things that goes without saying. We can
- 41:32Speaker 2: only do so much for you, but it starts with you.
- 41:35Speaker 2: And Okay, tomorrow or yesterday wasn't good. Today may not
- 41:39Speaker 2: have been optimal, But what about this afternoon? What about tomorrow?
- 41:44Speaker 2: Start now? Look forward now. I often tell people, you know,
- 41:48Speaker 2: don't look in your rear view mirror. It's not going
- 41:51Speaker 2: to get you anything but pain. Maybe you'll have you know,
- 41:54Speaker 2: we all have good memories. You can look back at
- 41:56Speaker 2: good memories, fond pictures, fond stories. But if if you
- 42:00Speaker 2: look back in that rear of your mirror because you
- 42:02Speaker 2: have self doubt, low self esteem, you've had pain, you've
- 42:06Speaker 2: had tragedy, is that going to help you get through today?
- 42:10Speaker 2: Most likely the answer is no. So start today with
- 42:13Speaker 2: fueling your mind, fueling your body, and I will tell
- 42:17Speaker 2: you everything that you do. Keep yourself in the presence
- 42:21Speaker 2: of people that are not an energy dream. If they're
- 42:24Speaker 2: in your life and there are people that you have
- 42:26Speaker 2: to interact with because they're in your family or your
- 42:29Speaker 2: work circle, your friend circle, you have to know how
- 42:32Speaker 2: to put up kind of a resiliency and you also
- 42:35Speaker 2: have to know how to protect yourself so that they
- 42:38Speaker 2: don't wear you down. You know, I've had patience sometimes
- 42:42Speaker 2: it is almost overbearing, the sadness or the negativity that
- 42:45Speaker 2: they produce. And it usually comes when they just come
- 42:48Speaker 2: in and they're like, fix me. Okay, we'll fix you,
- 42:52Speaker 2: but here's what I'm going to help you to do.
- 42:54Speaker 2: There's things you have to do too. When you're in
- 42:57Speaker 2: a set, in a place with people that are just
- 43:00Speaker 2: doom gloom, negative and every time you turn around their
- 43:03Speaker 2: hair's on fire. You are not the problem. You have
- 43:07Speaker 2: to be their light. But you don't have to stay
- 43:10Speaker 2: there and hold the flashlight to help them. You have
- 43:12Speaker 2: to guide them and say, I really think you look
- 43:15Speaker 2: great today. I really think you know what, this afternoon
- 43:18Speaker 2: is going to be better. Why don't you do this
- 43:20Speaker 2: While you're waiting for an answer, he let's go do this,
- 43:25Speaker 2: change the scenery. So you have to be the vessel
- 43:28Speaker 2: of the vehicle of light and change. But do not
- 43:31Speaker 2: let yourself get stuck in the swamp. Do not let
- 43:33Speaker 2: yourself get put into that. You know you got a
- 43:36Speaker 2: tow in. You got to pull yourself out. It's just
- 43:38Speaker 2: like somebody who's in the water. You want to save them.
- 43:40Speaker 2: You can throw them a raft, you can throw them
- 43:42Speaker 2: a lifeline. But do not jump in the water with
- 43:44Speaker 2: someone who is just so overwrought with negativity and hatred
- 43:48Speaker 2: and ill Will you be kind, nothing to get into
- 43:52Speaker 2: an altercation with them, but slowly back up with your
- 43:55Speaker 2: eyes on them, letting them know, good to see you.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Love to follow up. I've got to go into another appointment.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I'm really sorry, Hey love to talk. How about I
- 44:04Speaker 2: call you next week and kind of pass it on
- 44:06Speaker 2: that way. So the company you keep the fueling of
- 44:10Speaker 2: your brain, the fueling of your body, movement of your body,
- 44:13Speaker 2: and sleep. Since we don't have a whole lot of
- 44:15Speaker 2: time left. If you're having trouble sleeping, the busier you
- 44:19Speaker 2: get during the day and do some physical movement and
- 44:22Speaker 2: then add something like a gabbath supplement at night, you
- 44:26Speaker 2: may find you quiet your mind. Also, journaling at night
- 44:29Speaker 2: any chance you have to do homework and you're in
- 44:32Speaker 2: bed and you're either reading a book or you have
- 44:34Speaker 2: to write stuff down, will probably fatigue you enough to
- 44:37Speaker 2: go fall right off to sleep. Try to turn down
- 44:40Speaker 2: the noise, try not to doom scroll And if we can,
- 44:43Speaker 2: for just the next moment before we close out, I
- 44:46Speaker 2: want to take a moment just to lift up the
- 44:48Speaker 2: friend's family, Charlie Kirk's family, the mission of Turning Point,
- 44:53Speaker 2: and if we can just pass on your positive thoughts,
- 44:56Speaker 2: if you will quickly as we pause, and I want
- 45:16Speaker 2: to take that time to thank everybody for being here today.
- 45:18Speaker 2: I'd like to be supportive in helping you all find
- 45:21Speaker 2: your best self, find your mental wellness. Tune in every Thursday,
- 45:25Speaker 2: three pm Eastern. These shows we put them out on iHeartRadio.
- 45:30Speaker 2: So if you missed a show or you're tuned in late,
- 45:31Speaker 2: you can always see the rebroadcast on Ihearttunes podcast under
- 45:36Speaker 2: Wellness and Censored with Patty G. It's a blessing to
- 45:39Speaker 2: be here. I hope I've given somebody a bright light
- 45:42Speaker 2: for the rest of their day and their week. And
- 45:44Speaker 2: if you haven't tried any of the things we've talked
- 45:46Speaker 2: about here before, encourage you to take the next two
- 45:48Speaker 2: weeks and give it a shot. Check in with me
- 45:50Speaker 2: in two weeks. I will see you all next week.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I'm hoping to have a wonderful guest share a story
- 45:54Speaker 2: of survival and how they beat the odds with some
- 45:57Speaker 2: of the tough things that they went through during the pandemic.
- 46:00Speaker 2: And you guys have a wonderful weekend. Good to see
- 46:02Speaker 2: you all. Have a wonderful weekend, and take care for
