- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. It's week four,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and is it parody in the National Football League, Mitchell?
- 0:12Speaker 1: There are upsets. There are games I didn't ever think
- 0:14Speaker 1: would happen. There were teams winning with backup quarterbacks against
- 0:18Speaker 1: teams we know or thought were contenders. You got Case
- 0:22Speaker 1: Keenum having a day on Monday night. I wasn't expecting that.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Marcus Mariota shredding a Seattle Seahawks defense. Wasn't expecting that.
- 0:32Speaker 1: But before we get into each game this week, we'll
- 0:34Speaker 1: do something different and start with our top five going
- 0:37Speaker 1: into week four. Mitchell, who do you have in your
- 0:40Speaker 1: top five?
- 0:41Speaker 2: Richard, like you just said, there is an awful lot
- 0:44Speaker 2: of parody in this NFL season. We talked about it
- 0:47Speaker 2: last podcast. It's almost like these first three games have
- 0:50Speaker 2: been the preseason where teams that you expect to be
- 0:52Speaker 2: good look bad and teams that you expect to be
- 0:54Speaker 2: bad look good. And it's tough to shuffle these guys out.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I mean, When you look at our top five, we
- 1:01Speaker 2: got these in front of us here. I'm rolling with
- 1:03Speaker 2: the Bills, number one. I know that might be a
- 1:06Speaker 2: little controversial to folks in San Francisco, but having seen
- 1:09Speaker 2: the Bills firsthand, what they did to my Detroit Lions,
- 1:13Speaker 2: I got to put them number one. They had a
- 1:14Speaker 2: horrendous game last week, still came out victorious despite turning
- 1:18Speaker 2: the ball over five times.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I like the Bills.
- 1:21Speaker 2: The Niners are two for obvious reasons. 3-0 look dominant
- 1:26Speaker 2: offensively and defensively. Brock Purdy looks like an MVP candidate.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I like the Niners at two. I'm very, very confident
- 1:34Speaker 2: in them in the top two. Number three, the rise
- 1:37Speaker 2: of the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes with a fresh ACL.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker, canine. I saw in the comments section after
- 1:45Speaker 2: last episode, Richard, a lot of Seattle Seahawks fans wishing
- 1:49Speaker 2: they paid canine and not Rashid Shahid. Was that a mistake?
- 1:54Speaker 2: I don't know, but I like the Chiefs. Number three
- 1:57Speaker 2: in my ranks. That brings me to number four, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: that is the Seattle Seahawks. Despite losing on the road,
- 2:03Speaker 2: I will give them some grace. They have been dominant
- 2:06Speaker 2: over the last year. I'll cut them some slack in
- 2:09Speaker 2: losing this game against Washington. We'll call it a little
- 2:12Speaker 2: time zone hangover situation, having to play at 10 a.m.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Pacific time. We'll see how they rock out this upcoming
- 2:19Speaker 2: weekend in five. That's where there's so many teams up
- 2:23Speaker 2: in the air. But after watching Monday Night Football and
- 2:26Speaker 2: what Ben Johnson did with a third-string quarterback and a
- 2:29Speaker 2: 38-year-old Case Keenum, I'm rolling with the Chicago Bears at
- 2:34Speaker 2: number five. Richard, what did I get wrong?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Mitchell, you started your whole list wrong. At number one,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I got the San Francisco 49ers playing the best football
- 2:47Speaker 1: in the National Football League on both sides of the ball.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And I know, I know, injuries, injuries, injuries. They are
- 2:53Speaker 1: devastating right now. But the guy who gives me the
- 2:57Speaker 1: most confidence in the San Francisco 49ers, and I'm going
- 3:00Speaker 1: to knock on wood, is healthy. And that's Brock Purdy,
- 3:03Speaker 1: who should be in the lead for MVP. But I'm
- 3:06Speaker 1: sure Vegas might have Josh Allen. I thought after all
- 3:08Speaker 1: the turnovers this week, Josh Allen would fall and Brock
- 3:10Speaker 1: Purdy would rise. But that didn't happen. Christian McCaffrey continues
- 3:16Speaker 1: to look fantastic. Again, Kalon Black is doing a great
- 3:19Speaker 1: job spelling him. George Kittle looks fantastic in the pass game.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Had a big game last week. Might have stolen a
- 3:26Speaker 1: touchdown from Brock Purdy after a phantom holding call. There
- 3:30Speaker 1: was some sabotage there, allegedly. But Defensively, Fred Warner and
- 3:36Speaker 1: Dre Greenlaw continue to just change the outlook of these games.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Dre Greenlaw goes out with a quad injury. Mike Evans
- 3:42Speaker 1: goes out with a rib injury. Trent Williams goes out
- 3:47Speaker 1: with a stinger. Again, things you do not want to
- 3:50Speaker 1: see if you're a San Francisco 49er fan, but I
- 3:53Speaker 1: think they're going to be able to overcome these things.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It looks like all those guys are potentially going to
- 3:58Speaker 1: be available this week, so that's great news. This is
- 4:02Speaker 1: on top of all the other receivers that they've lost.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Deshaun Stripling, Demarcus Robinson, Ricky Persall. I mean, the list
- 4:11Speaker 1: goes on and on. Obviously, they'll get some of these
- 4:13Speaker 1: guys back as the weeks progress, but they're still the
- 4:17Speaker 1: best team out there. And I think as they continue
- 4:20Speaker 1: to develop, Grayson Halton. Grayson Halton. It just sounds like Halton,
- 4:27Speaker 1: but I feel like Halton is the way you should
- 4:29Speaker 1: say it. But he's been playing fantastic football. He's a
- 4:32Speaker 1: diamond in the rough. Found gold for the San Francisco 49ers,
- 4:35Speaker 1: so I like him. Number two on my list, the
- 4:38Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills are a really good football
- 4:42Speaker 1: team with an MVP candidate, a quarterback, but there are
- 4:45Speaker 1: a lot of question marks, especially on the defensive side
- 4:48Speaker 1: of the ball. They played really, really well this week
- 4:52Speaker 1: against the Chargers, but the Chargers haven't really played that
- 4:55Speaker 1: well against anybody. They scored the most points they've scored
- 4:58Speaker 1: all season this against the Bills, and that's not saying
- 5:02Speaker 1: much because they've scored 14 against the Raiders and 14
- 5:05Speaker 1: against the Cardinals, which, I mean, it is what it is.
- 5:07Speaker 1: But the Buffalo Bills, the reason they moved to two
- 5:10Speaker 1: instead of one in my rankings is the five turnovers
- 5:12Speaker 1: they had. They were at home. Josh Allen with some
- 5:15Speaker 1: uncharacteristic mistakes, pushing the ball down the field into double
- 5:19Speaker 1: coverage against DJ, I mean, with two DJ Moore. That
- 5:23Speaker 1: play got intercepted. Another interception in the game. Gave up
- 5:26Speaker 1: a fumble in the game. No, yes. Yes, gave up
- 5:30Speaker 1: a fumble in the game. James Cook gives up a
- 5:33Speaker 1: fumble early in this game. Just too many turnovers for
- 5:38Speaker 1: me to be comfortable putting them one. Number three, the
- 5:41Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs. Again, Kenneth Walker. He's a guy that's
- 5:45Speaker 1: making a huge difference for this team. As Patrick Mahomes
- 5:48Speaker 1: continues to find his legs, continues to find his rhythm,
- 5:51Speaker 1: he's going to go through the ups and downs of
- 5:53Speaker 1: the season, but they have somebody else they can lean
- 5:56Speaker 1: on when things aren't going great through the air. defensively,
- 5:59Speaker 1: some young defensive backs learning on the fly, I still
- 6:03Speaker 1: like Noel Williams, and again, anytime they got an Arias,
- 6:08Speaker 1: you guys think I'm joking, but anytime the Kansas City
- 6:10Speaker 1: Chiefs have an Arias, they make it to that last game,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and I know, you guys reminded me, there was an
- 6:16Speaker 1: Arias I forgot about, there's Legereus, there is Charverius, and
- 6:22Speaker 1: then there was Kadarius, Kadarius Doney, with the punt return
- 6:25Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl, like, When they have an Arias,
- 6:28Speaker 1: they end up in that last game. So I feel
- 6:30Speaker 1: good about their chances. The Seattle Seahawks at number four.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Really head-scratching loss against the Washington Commanders. You thought, hey,
- 6:39Speaker 1: backup quarterback Jaden Daniels is out. Marcus Mariota steps in.
- 6:43Speaker 1: You thought the Seattle Seahawks defense has been consistent. But
- 6:46Speaker 1: Mike McDonald's teams have been consistent on the road. They
- 6:50Speaker 1: were 16-2 before taking this loss to the Commanders. They
- 6:53Speaker 1: gave up 33 points. So it's kind of back to
- 6:56Speaker 1: the drawing board. I'm sure this is going to be
- 6:57Speaker 1: a very motivated team when they go back to Seattle
- 7:00Speaker 1: to play the LA Chargers. The Broncos. The Broncos beat
- 7:05Speaker 1: the LA Rams. They beat the LA Rams, the team
- 7:07Speaker 1: that everybody coming into this season said had the potential
- 7:10Speaker 1: to go undefeated and be world beaters. And just nobody,
- 7:14Speaker 1: how could anybody compete against this team and all the
- 7:17Speaker 1: talent that they have on paper? Again, this game isn't
- 7:19Speaker 1: played on paper. It's played on the grass. And these
- 7:22Speaker 1: are grown men, and grown men, against grown men. Somebody's
- 7:25Speaker 1: going to impose their will, and somebody's not. And right now,
- 7:28Speaker 1: people are getting the better of the L.A. Rams. And
- 7:31Speaker 1: not to say that they're not playing great. Matthew Stafford
- 7:34Speaker 1: has had some really great moments, especially to Devontae Adams.
- 7:37Speaker 1: They're missing Puka Nakua, which is a huge part of
- 7:39Speaker 1: their offense. They're finding a way. They started the game
- 7:42Speaker 1: really fast against the Denver Broncos, but the Denver Broncos
- 7:46Speaker 1: turned around in the second half and figured it out,
- 7:48Speaker 1: figured it out. Bo Nix figured it out, started pushing
- 7:50Speaker 1: the ball down the field. They started to make big plays.
- 7:52Speaker 1: started to find his playmakers defensively. They started to put
- 7:55Speaker 1: some pressure on Matthew Stafford, started to force some mistakes,
- 7:59Speaker 1: some misthrows, and found a way to pull out a win.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And Sean Payton said it. He said, I mean, we're
- 8:05Speaker 1: great in these games, and they've been doing a great
- 8:07Speaker 1: job coming back in a lot of these games that
- 8:08Speaker 1: they had to have. But you don't always have to
- 8:10Speaker 1: come back. Sometimes you could just be winning outright. So
- 8:13Speaker 1: I feel good about this top five. But as always,
- 8:16Speaker 1: this NFL– Anybody can beat anybody, and that's showing more
- 8:19Speaker 1: than ever.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I'm already predicting the future here, Richard. There's going to
- 8:22Speaker 2: be a couple fan bases that are going to be
- 8:25Speaker 2: barking at you here a little bit, and they're going
- 8:27Speaker 2: to be barking at me, too. We left out two
- 8:29Speaker 2: undefeated teams, that being the Raiders and that being the
- 8:33Speaker 2: Minnesota Vikings.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Why?
- 8:36Speaker 2: I mean, because we both are in agreeance on this.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I think the Raiders just need one more week to
- 8:42Speaker 2: prove themselves. If you look at their schedule, I mean,
- 8:46Speaker 2: some would call it Somewhat lucky and weak to open
- 8:49Speaker 2: up against the Dolphins, the Chargers who have not been
- 8:53Speaker 2: who people thought they were, and obviously the Saints. But
- 8:56Speaker 2: I really do like the Raiders. They're right on the cusp,
- 8:58Speaker 2: but they're more in the 8-9 range for me. And
- 9:01Speaker 2: then the Vikings, man. Vaunted defense. However, what do they
- 9:05Speaker 2: look like offensively? They allow the Tampa Bay Bucs to
- 9:08Speaker 2: hang in that game. I'm still not a believer in
- 9:11Speaker 2: the Vikings just yet. Why did you leave them out
- 9:13Speaker 2: of your ranks? Well, for that reason. I mean, I'm
- 9:17Speaker 2: a believer in that defense.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm a believer in Brian Flores, Dallas Turner, Blake Cashman,
- 9:22Speaker 1: Andrew Van Ginkle, and everything that they've done. Isaiah Rogers,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Byron Murphy, those guys, Harrison Smith, no question about it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: But the offense is a concern. Now, do they have
- 9:35Speaker 1: a talented offense? No question about it. And Aaron Jones
- 9:38Speaker 1: can get it done at any time. But Kyler Murray,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you know, he has to find his sea legs. He
- 9:44Speaker 1: has to be more consistent for me to feel comfortable
- 9:46Speaker 1: with this offense. Yes, he threw a nice pass to
- 9:50Speaker 1: Addison for a touchdown, which was great. But I don't–
- 9:56Speaker 1: he just doesn't have the comfort level in this offense
- 9:59Speaker 1: yet that gives me uh confidence that they're going to
- 10:02Speaker 1: be like a top 10 top five offense consistently this
- 10:05Speaker 1: year maybe that'll change they're not playing a really tough
- 10:08Speaker 1: schedule uh they got the Miami Dolphins then they got
- 10:12Speaker 1: Tyler Shuck and the New Orleans Saints then they got
- 10:15Speaker 1: uh Indiana Jones and the Indianapolis Colts and then they
- 10:18Speaker 1: got your Detroit Lions so You look for a game
- 10:21Speaker 1: where you can say, hey, if they beat these guys,
- 10:24Speaker 1: then we'll give them respect. Obviously, if the Raiders beat
- 10:26Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs, who are in both of our
- 10:29Speaker 1: top fives, I think that puts them in the discussion.
- 10:31Speaker 1: But until then, it's tough. Now, if the Minnesota Vikings
- 10:35Speaker 1: start off 5-6-0, you're going to have to put them
- 10:37Speaker 1: in there. This is the National Football League. It's hard
- 10:40Speaker 1: to win that many games in a row. And regardless
- 10:42Speaker 1: of what it looks like, they're undefeated. They're going to
- 10:44Speaker 1: have to get in the top five. No question about it.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I want to take a second to tell you about
- 10:49Speaker 1: this new sports trading app called Polymarket. It's the best
- 10:53Speaker 1: new way to trade in sports. In the past, if
- 10:56Speaker 1: you wanted action on a game, you'd put some money in,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and if your team was doing well and you wanted
- 11:02Speaker 1: to cash out, they'd lock the trade or take a
- 11:05Speaker 1: huge fee.
- 11:06Speaker 2: But Polymarket is a prediction market, Richard. It's a stock
- 11:09Speaker 2: exchange for sports. Buying in and selling out on your terms.
- 11:13Speaker 2: When your team goes down to 20%, you can buy
- 11:16Speaker 2: in and sell it off at 40% when they come
- 11:19Speaker 2: back to double your money.
- 11:21Speaker 1: And I've tried them all. And Polymarket is simply the
- 11:24Speaker 1: best prediction market. Better than DraftKings, better than FanDuel, CalSheet,
- 11:29Speaker 1: you name it. They're so confident that you'll never go
- 11:33Speaker 1: back to the other guys. They're giving you a free
- 11:36Speaker 1: $ 50 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And now they've launched a new feature called Squads, a
- 11:43Speaker 2: group chat where you can see what everyone is trading on.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So download the Polymarket app today and use code Richard.
- 11:50Speaker 2: That's Richard to get $ 50 free after you trade just $ 10.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Football is back. And if you're getting ready for the season,
- 12:00Speaker 1: pull up to your local Lids. The exclusive 47 NFL
- 12:04Speaker 1: collection is available only today. in store at lids and

- 12:13Speaker 2: No doubt about it we're talking nfl graphic tees the
- 12:16Speaker 2: iconic 47 hitch headwear silhouette richard you like this man
- 12:22Speaker 2: i love this the detroit lions 47 hitch headwear i
- 12:26Speaker 2: got on and fan gear that looks good on game
- 12:29Speaker 2: day monday morning and every day in between.
- 12:33Speaker 1: And listen I know a little something about being all in.
- 12:36Speaker 1: The Legion of Boom energy, it was not casual. We
- 12:39Speaker 1: didn't walk on the field hoping people noticed us. We
- 12:43Speaker 1: set the tone. We brought the energy. We made sure
- 12:46Speaker 1: everybody knew exactly who they were dealing with.
- 12:49Speaker 2: That's how you should rep your team, Richard.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Confidence.
- 12:52Speaker 2: No apologies.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Whether you're hosting the crew, watching the family, tailgating before
- 12:57Speaker 3: the game, or sitting across from somebody wearing the wrong colors.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Get to your local Lids and rep your squad the
- 13:05Speaker 3: right way.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Football isn't just a Sunday thing. It's a rivalry. It's tradition.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's pride. It's who you are all week long. So
- 13:14Speaker 1: don't wait until kickoff to get ready. Pull up to
- 13:17Speaker 1: Lids and go all in, all season, only in store
- 13:21Speaker 1: at Lids.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Let's talk about the number one team on your power ranks.
- 13:25Speaker 2: They take on the Denver Broncos in San Francisco. The
- 13:30Speaker 2: 49ers against the Denver Broncos. Richard Polly Market gives the
- 13:33Speaker 2: Niners a 57% chance to win this game. Denver looked
- 13:37Speaker 2: good on Sunday night. I mean, some would call it
- 13:40Speaker 2: an officiating win, a phantom P.I. call towards the end
- 13:44Speaker 2: of that game, but that defense kept them in it.
- 13:46Speaker 2: The Rams were hot early, up 16 to nothing, and
- 13:49Speaker 2: ultimately lost. Matt Stafford throws a big-time pick six to
- 13:53Speaker 2: let the Denver Broncos take the lead and take control
- 13:55Speaker 2: of that game. The Broncos head into San Francisco, a
- 13:59Speaker 2: team that you obviously love, 3-0. What does the San
- 14:03Speaker 2: Francisco 49ers have to do to come out with a
- 14:05Speaker 2: victory in this game?
- 14:07Speaker 1: They have to play mistake-free football. They have to run
- 14:09Speaker 1: the ball. They have to do what they've done all season,
- 14:10Speaker 1: which is score the football. They're second in the league
- 14:14Speaker 1: in scoring 32 points a game and third in points allowed.
- 14:17Speaker 1: So that's the way they have to play. But that
- 14:20Speaker 1: starts with running the football, allowing their defense to rest,
- 14:25Speaker 1: getting chunk plays when they're there. And I think Brock
- 14:28Speaker 1: Purdy has done that as well as anybody this season
- 14:30Speaker 1: is just taking what the defense gives him. If it's
- 14:32Speaker 1: an explosive play, he goes, he finds it. If it's not,
- 14:35Speaker 1: if it's a check down, he's going to take four
- 14:36Speaker 1: or five and he's going to keep the ball moving
- 14:38Speaker 1: down the field. They got to continue to run the
- 14:40Speaker 1: ball at a decent rate. I think they're looking for more.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And Kyle Shanahan would tell you he's disappointed in the
- 14:45Speaker 1: run game and he expects more. I think their offensive line, Again,
- 14:50Speaker 1: as much as I was tough and on this offensive
- 14:54Speaker 1: line for the San Francisco 49ers, especially the interior offensive line,
- 14:58Speaker 1: they deserve a ton of credit. They have kept Brock
- 15:00Speaker 1: Purdy clean. He has yet to be sacked this season.
- 15:03Speaker 1: So I expect that to continue. Some of it has
- 15:06Speaker 1: to do with his mobility. Some of it has to
- 15:07Speaker 1: do with them doing a great job protecting him. He
- 15:12Speaker 1: has to continue that. Who are they going to have
- 15:15Speaker 1: at receiver? That's a big question. Who's going to be available?
- 15:19Speaker 1: Is Cooks going to be available this week? Is he
- 15:21Speaker 1: going to line up? Is he going to be out there?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Is he going to get up to speed fast enough
- 15:24Speaker 1: to be available to be put out there? Are they
- 15:26Speaker 1: going to use more tight ends? Are they going to
- 15:28Speaker 1: use more Kyle Hughes check, George Kittle, those guys in
- 15:32Speaker 1: the past game? Can we see some two running back
- 15:34Speaker 1: sets with Kalon Black and Christian McCaffrey on the field
- 15:37Speaker 1: at the same time? I don't know. Kyle Shanahan is
- 15:39Speaker 1: one of the more creative minds in the National Football League.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I know it's going to be fun. On the other side,
- 15:45Speaker 1: Is Drake Greenlaw going to be healthy this week? Or
- 15:47Speaker 1: do they sit him another week and rest? Because, again,
- 15:50Speaker 1: that changes the dynamic in a big way on that defense.
- 15:54Speaker 1: He is a big-time factor, a big-time just attitude, Mitchell.
- 15:59Speaker 1: He's a tone setter out there. And when you don't
- 16:01Speaker 1: see him, when he's not out there, you can feel it,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and it's different. So hopefully he can play. But just
- 16:08Speaker 1: like Polly Market, I got the San Francisco 49ers winning
- 16:10Speaker 1: this game. They're signing Matthew Judon to practice squad. He's
- 16:15Speaker 1: a guy, year 11, veteran, four-time pro bowler. He can
- 16:19Speaker 1: get some juice, maybe give them some juice, some pass
- 16:22Speaker 1: rush juice. They're not running a super complex game up front,
- 16:26Speaker 1: so he should be able to get up to speed
- 16:27Speaker 1: pretty fast, and we'll see if he can help them
- 16:29Speaker 1: put some more pressure on the quarterback because they have
- 16:32Speaker 1: had trouble doing that, and they're definitely going to need
- 16:34Speaker 1: it against Bo Nix.
- 16:34Speaker 2: This will be a great test for the Niners. There's
- 16:36Speaker 2: no question about it. The Denver Broncos, again, come off
- 16:39Speaker 2: a big win. A lot of folks expected them to
- 16:41Speaker 2: lose against the Rams. They proved that they're still one
- 16:44Speaker 2: of those teams contenders in the AFC with that victory
- 16:47Speaker 2: if they go and knock out the San Francisco 49ers
- 16:49Speaker 2: on the road look up they will be climbing up
- 16:52Speaker 2: your power ranks and certainly into mine as well let's
- 16:56Speaker 2: talk about another team in your top five that's the
- 16:58Speaker 2: Seattle Seahawks they take on the 0-3 LA Chargers and
- 17:03Speaker 2: you went into detail last podcast Richard about what is
- 17:07Speaker 2: wrong in LA and it starts with Justin Herbert enter
- 17:13Speaker 2: LA into Seattle 0-3, potentially 0-4. And now you're dealing
- 17:17Speaker 2: with a Seattle team that's fresh off a loss. You
- 17:19Speaker 2: know they're going to be very hungry. How do you
- 17:22Speaker 2: see this game playing out in Seattle on Sunday, Richard?
- 17:27Speaker 1: Well, I see it very similar to what Polymarket has
- 17:30Speaker 1: it at. The Seattle Seahawks winning this one in a
- 17:33Speaker 1: very convincing fashion. The offensive line for the L.A. Chargers
- 17:38Speaker 1: has been abysmal all season, and I don't expect that
- 17:40Speaker 1: to change anytime soon, even their good players. Joe Ault
- 17:43Speaker 1: is leading the league in penalties. Rashawn Slater has not
- 17:48Speaker 1: won at the rate that we have come to expect
- 17:52Speaker 1: from a guy of his caliber. I think he has
- 17:55Speaker 1: a 76% win rate right now in the season, which
- 17:58Speaker 1: is very low of the 66 tackles in the National
- 18:01Speaker 1: Football League. I think it's like 52 or 55, and
- 18:03Speaker 1: that's not good enough. And obviously we put a lot
- 18:09Speaker 1: of pressure and a lot of blame on Justin Herbert,
- 18:12Speaker 1: rightfully so, because you have to be able to execute. Sure,
- 18:16Speaker 1: the offensive line hasn't been great. There are other guys
- 18:18Speaker 1: who offensive lines aren't great. The pass catchers have to
- 18:23Speaker 1: catch the football. That's a big part of it. The
- 18:24Speaker 1: pass catchers have to catch the football. When he throws
- 18:27Speaker 1: accurate passes, they got to hold on to it, especially
- 18:29Speaker 1: in critical situations. I think that's been a big deterrent
- 18:35Speaker 1: for the L.A. Chargers. And they're going to have to
- 18:37Speaker 1: get that fixed. But on the other side of the ball,
- 18:39Speaker 1: their defense did a great job taking the football away
- 18:43Speaker 1: last week against a very good Buffalo Bills team. They
- 18:46Speaker 1: took it from Dalton Kincaid, forced a fumble there. They
- 18:48Speaker 1: took it from James Cook, forced a fumble early in
- 18:52Speaker 1: that game. Two interceptions from Josh Allen, forced fumble on
- 18:56Speaker 1: Josh Allen. So if they can play like that against
- 19:00Speaker 1: the Seahawks team that turned the ball over a number
- 19:03Speaker 1: of times, Jadarian Price, and has only three career games,
- 19:07Speaker 1: and has fumbled in two of them. So that's going
- 19:09Speaker 1: to be a point of emphasis. How can they improve that?
- 19:11Speaker 1: How can the Seattle Seahawks improve their running game? They
- 19:14Speaker 1: have to have a better showing on the ground in
- 19:16Speaker 1: order to open up the pass game. Sure, Sam Darnold
- 19:19Speaker 1: still is able to be effective getting the ball to
- 19:21Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigba, but where is Rasheed Shaheed? You
- 19:25Speaker 1: paid him all this money to stay. He's supposed to
- 19:29Speaker 1: be a big factor in the offense. They're not targeting
- 19:32Speaker 1: him enough for me to even feel comfortable with the
- 19:36Speaker 1: money they're paying him. Usually when you throw that money,
- 19:39Speaker 1: they're feeding Jackson Smith and Jigba, but we're throwing a
- 19:41Speaker 1: lot of tight end screens. And they're working. They're effective plays.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And they're slowing down the pass rush. And it's smart offense.
- 19:48Speaker 1: And Brian Fleury's doing a great job calling it, but
- 19:51Speaker 1: you have to get your speedster involved. Are people going
- 19:53Speaker 1: to just start ignoring him and doubling J.S. Hinn. And,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you know, J.S. Hinn has found a way. I think
- 19:59Speaker 1: the reason that he's continued to find success is Brian
- 20:02Speaker 1: Fleury is doing a good job moving him around. So
- 20:04Speaker 1: you can't get a beat at where he is. It's
- 20:06Speaker 1: hard to double a player when he's in the slot
- 20:08Speaker 1: one play and he's outside one play and he's in
- 20:10Speaker 1: the backfield another play and he's motioning back and forth
- 20:13Speaker 1: the next play. It's really hard to double that guy.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You can't keep swinging your safeties and checking and saying, hey,
- 20:20Speaker 1: we're running cover two to this side. No, we're bracketing
- 20:22Speaker 1: to that side. Oh, he's motioning. All right, move the bracket.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Things are happening too fast, so I commend Brian Fleury
- 20:29Speaker 1: for what he's doing offensively, but you have to get
- 20:33Speaker 1: your other big-time receiver involved. Cooper Cupp has been involved,
- 20:36Speaker 1: which is great. Cooper Cupp is a big-time receiver, former
- 20:39Speaker 1: Triple Crown winner. But Rasheed Shahid, I mean, I can
- 20:43Speaker 1: understand why the Seahawks fans are complaining about seeing K-9
- 20:46Speaker 1: have the success that he's having in Kansas City and
- 20:49Speaker 1: not seeing Rasheed Shahid, who got a big-time payday, not
- 20:53Speaker 1: even get targeted enough to have that kind of success,
- 20:55Speaker 1: to have the kind of impact that you would expect. Now,
- 20:59Speaker 1: do I think that K-9 would have the success that
- 21:01Speaker 1: he's had in Kansas City and Seattle? No, I don't.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I don't. They're just not opening the holes right now.
- 21:07Speaker 1: The run game just has not been as successful. And
- 21:10Speaker 1: maybe he would factor in. You know, obviously he's a
- 21:13Speaker 1: guy that has a ton of yards after contact and
- 21:15Speaker 1: breaks tackles and makes a lot out of a little bit.
- 21:18Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, you've got to
- 21:20Speaker 1: open up some holes. And I'm sure that they're going
- 21:24Speaker 1: to be very cautious and have a very short lease
- 21:26Speaker 1: with Jadarian Price if he can't hold on to the football.
- 21:29Speaker 1: As a running back in the National Football League, that's
- 21:31Speaker 1: one of the worst things you can have on you
- 21:34Speaker 1: is if you fumble the football, you can't do it.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So if they can keep the ball safe, if they
- 21:41Speaker 1: can take care of the football and the Seattle Seahawks
- 21:44Speaker 1: can run the football, take some shots with Rasheed Shaheed,
- 21:47Speaker 1: obviously feed Jackson Smith and Jigba, Feed my guy A.J. Barner.
- 21:52Speaker 1: He's been eating. I can see them winning this game handily,
- 21:57Speaker 1: but I'm very cautious to say that after me saying
- 22:01Speaker 1: that last week against the Commanders with all the circumstances
- 22:04Speaker 1: and everything going against the Commanders, the Commanders found a
- 22:07Speaker 1: way to hang 33 points up on this team, take
- 22:10Speaker 1: the ball away three times, including a pick six. So
- 22:14Speaker 1: I think the Seahawks win this game.
- 22:16Speaker 2: I'm with you, Richard, but The LA Chargers, there's no
- 22:19Speaker 2: doubt about it. I don't think it's debatable. They got
- 22:20Speaker 2: a lot of talent on that team, including their quarterback,
- 22:23Speaker 2: Justin Herbert, who's struggling mightily. There might be no team
- 22:27Speaker 2: more desperate in football than the Chargers. And the Seattle
- 22:32Speaker 2: Seahawks losing to Washington shocked me. Them losing to the
- 22:35Speaker 2: Chargers would not shock me. But Seattle needs to come out,
- 22:39Speaker 2: and they need to be aggressive and get hot early.
- 22:41Speaker 2: And back to the Rashid Shahid topic. Richard, his highest
- 22:45Speaker 2: number yardage total he's been with the Seahawks for 12
- 22:48Speaker 2: games ever since getting traded from the Saints his highest
- 22:51Speaker 2: yardage total is 74 yards next highest from that is
- 22:54Speaker 2: 67 next highest from that 35 Richard so I mean
- 22:59Speaker 2: it just goes to show you and you can understand
- 23:01Speaker 2: why there's some frustration in the fan base when you
- 23:04Speaker 2: pay a guy 17 million plus a year and you
- 23:07Speaker 2: let a running back walk who's getting 14.5 so I
- 23:11Speaker 2: get the internal debate I like Seattle in this game.
- 23:15Speaker 2: They need to find a way to get Rasheed Shaheed
- 23:17Speaker 2: more involved and unlock that next level of this offense.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Let's move on to the next game. And Richard, this
- 23:24Speaker 2: is my no doubt about it lock of the week.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I'm taking the Kansas City Chiefs on the road to
- 23:32Speaker 2: beat the Las Vegas Raiders, the 3-0 Red Hot Raiders.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We'll get knocked off this week by Division 4 Kansas
- 23:39Speaker 2: City Chiefs. That's my no doubt about it. Lock of
- 23:42Speaker 2: the week. And this next game preview is sponsored by Polymarket.
- 23:46Speaker 2: We got the Raiders versus the Chiefs, and both teams
- 23:48Speaker 2: are undefeated. It's a must-watch TV on Sunday. Raiders at home,
- 23:54Speaker 2: and Polymarket has Kansas City with a 65% chance to
- 23:58Speaker 2: win this game, while the Raiders are just at 35%.
- 24:01Speaker 2: With all that being said, Richard, Do you agree with
- 24:04Speaker 2: Polly Market's assessment of this game?
- 24:07Speaker 1: Do I agree with Polly Market's assessment, Mitchell? I don't
- 24:10Speaker 1: think I do because this has upset alert written all
- 24:14Speaker 1: over it, and it's obviously not my biggest upset of
- 24:17Speaker 1: the week because I got another game, and I don't
- 24:19Speaker 1: know if you're going to like what I have to
- 24:20Speaker 1: say about that, but we'll get there eventually. But this
- 24:24Speaker 1: Raiders offense, nothing too crazy, nothing too shiny, nothing– like
- 24:29Speaker 1: to write home about just effective. Clint Kubiak is using everybody. Obviously,
- 24:34Speaker 1: Brock Bowers had a big game last week. He's going
- 24:37Speaker 1: to be incredibly involved in this game. Trey Tucker. Trey
- 24:40Speaker 1: Tucker has just been a reliable target. Has 15 targets
- 24:44Speaker 1: on the season, 11 catches for 189 yards and one touchdown.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And then again, Kirk Cousins, not doing anything crazy in
- 24:51Speaker 1: three games. He's completing 67% of his passes, about 220
- 24:55Speaker 1: a game, 661 yards, nine touchdowns, only three interceptions. Solid football.
- 25:01Speaker 1: And he fits well in this scheme. He's one of
- 25:05Speaker 1: the better quarterbacks in this scheme. And I think people
- 25:08Speaker 1: are starting to finally understand with Justin Herbert's struggles within
- 25:13Speaker 1: this offense that, hey, maybe this offense isn't as easy
- 25:18Speaker 1: and simple and plug-and-play as we once thought. But there
- 25:21Speaker 1: are certain guys who, once you plug them into this offense,
- 25:24Speaker 1: it just works. And he's one of them. I also
- 25:28Speaker 1: like Mike Washington and Ashton Gentry and how they're spelling
- 25:31Speaker 1: them and how they're back and forth. But Hezekiah Masses,
- 25:35Speaker 1: Hezekiah Masses, the fifth round rookie corner who's got three
- 25:40Speaker 1: interceptions on the season. I just like it, Mitchell. First off,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I like his name, Hezekiah Masses. But a fifth rounder
- 25:48Speaker 1: making plays, catching a football, turning a ball over, he's
- 25:52Speaker 1: going to factor in. That defense, N'Kobe Dean. N'Kobe Dean
- 25:56Speaker 1: is a tone setter, Mitchell. You turn on the tape.
- 25:58Speaker 1: of the Las Vegas Raiders, and you will see 17
- 26:02Speaker 1: everywhere the ball is. So, Mitchell, not so fast. Now,
- 26:06Speaker 1: do I think it's going to be an upset? There's
- 26:07Speaker 1: a maybe, baby. I don't know if this four-and-a-half-point spread
- 26:11Speaker 1: that Polly Market has is going to happen. I know
- 26:13Speaker 1: the Raiders are going to fight. I don't know, because
- 26:18Speaker 1: they played the Miami Dolphins, and not that it was
- 26:21Speaker 1: a close game, but it was closer than you would
- 26:22Speaker 1: expect the Miami Dolphins to be to the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 26:27Speaker 1: This isn't your same old Raiders. Mitchell, this is a
- 26:30Speaker 1: team that's well coached, formidable, and playing good football on
- 26:35Speaker 1: both sides of the ball. I'm going to give Kansas
- 26:39Speaker 1: City the win in this one. I don't have them
- 26:42Speaker 1: covering the spread.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I don't hate that breakdown, but if you're not joining
- 26:46Speaker 2: me in my no doubt about it lock of the week, Richard,
- 26:50Speaker 2: I thought we saw eye to eye on this kind
- 26:51Speaker 2: of stuff, man.
- 26:54Speaker 1: I guess you're right.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I got the Chiefs. I got the Chiefs covering with ease.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I think they're going to win by two touchdowns. This
- 27:02Speaker 2: is a division rivalry game, and I just know how
- 27:05Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes plays. He gets up for big games, and shockingly,
- 27:09Speaker 2: this is turning into a big game. Give me Patrick
- 27:11Speaker 2: Mahomes and the Chiefs to cover, and I'll take the
- 27:14Speaker 2: money with laying it on them on Polymarket as well. Richard,
- 27:18Speaker 2: another thing. The Raiders' offense has been rolling. Polymarket gives
- 27:21Speaker 2: them a 66% chance to score. More than two and
- 27:25Speaker 2: a half touchdowns in this game. Do you see that
- 27:28Speaker 2: playing out?
- 27:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for the reasons we just talked about. In
- 27:33Speaker 1: the red zone, they have two big targets and Michael
- 27:36Speaker 1: Mayer and obviously Brock Bowers, Trey Tucker, Speaster can get
- 27:41Speaker 1: down the field. And then Ashton Gentry and Mike Washington Jr.
- 27:44Speaker 1: are going to do a great job in the run game.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Make sure you guys check out Poly Markets and alternative
- 27:49Speaker 2: traditional sports books that keeps you in control of your trades.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Check out Polymarket now. Richard, let's move on to the
- 27:58Speaker 2: next game here. In Cleveland, the Browns, led by Deshaun
- 28:02Speaker 2: Watson and Jared Verse. No more Miles Garrett over there,
- 28:07Speaker 2: but they're doing just fine. 2-1, the fan base in
- 28:09Speaker 2: Cleveland's all fired up to have a winning record this
- 28:12Speaker 2: early in the season. And then they take on division foe,
- 28:16Speaker 2: AFC North Battle, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh looked good last game, Richard.
- 28:21Speaker 2: They were pounding the rock. Jalen Warren was getting after it,
- 28:24Speaker 2: 125-plus yards. And Cleveland also has looked good over these
- 28:29Speaker 2: last couple games. Who do you like winning this AFC
- 28:32Speaker 2: North showdown?
- 28:35Speaker 1: This is the epitome of a grinder. The AFC North
- 28:39Speaker 1: has always been the grinder division in football. It's always
- 28:45Speaker 1: cold in the winter. You've got teams that are going
- 28:48Speaker 1: to run the football playground Gritty, grimy defense, the Baltimore Ravens,
- 28:52Speaker 1: the Cleveland Browns, the Cincinnati Bengals, just cold, you know,
- 28:57Speaker 1: cities that are industrial. Hmm, this is a tough one
- 29:01Speaker 1: to call because which Aaron Rodgers are you going to get?
- 29:04Speaker 1: You know, are you going to get the Aaron Rodgers
- 29:06Speaker 1: that got beat up and look old? Are you going
- 29:07Speaker 1: to get the Aaron Rodgers who was flicking the ball
- 29:09Speaker 1: all around the yard and having a lot of fun
- 29:11Speaker 1: last week? It's a good question. What DK Metcalf are
- 29:15Speaker 1: you going to get? I don't, I don't know. The
- 29:21Speaker 1: Cleveland Browns defense has played solid. They played really well
- 29:24Speaker 1: against the Carolina Panthers. It's tough because I got to
- 29:34Speaker 1: give Deshaun Watson credit and I give Cleveland credit because
- 29:39Speaker 1: when he's playing well, you know, they started the season
- 29:41Speaker 1: booing him every chance they got. Obviously they cheered incredibly
- 29:44Speaker 1: loud when Shador got his one snap. But I think
- 29:47Speaker 1: that he's starting to kind of win them back because
- 29:49Speaker 1: they see he's fighting for every yard. He's putting his
- 29:52Speaker 1: body on the line. He's doing what he can to
- 29:54Speaker 1: try to get this city win and earn their trust.
- 29:59Speaker 1: They're at home. It's a beautiful, it's going to be
- 30:03Speaker 1: a beautiful environment. We're going to be there Thursday night,
- 30:06Speaker 1: starting TNF tonight, 7 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Pacific. Mitchell,
- 30:13Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh defense, without Joey Porter Jr., who's out. Is
- 30:19Speaker 1: he coming to Detroit?
- 30:20Speaker 2: He might be on a flight to Detroit, I see.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I don't know, but he's not playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and they're still playing great defense. Alex Highsmith, T.J. Watt,
- 30:30Speaker 1: Cam Hayward. Sante Samuel Jr. Jalen Ramsey. Those guys are
- 30:39Speaker 1: playing good football right now. Solid football. This ought to
- 30:43Speaker 1: be crazy. Neither one of these offenses are great right now.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Pittsburgh's 26th. Cleveland's 24th. Pittsburgh defense is playing a little better.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Deshaun hasn't turned the ball over a ton. That's been
- 31:07Speaker 1: his biggest thing. I'm trying to talk myself into this,
- 31:12Speaker 1: Browns fans. I'm trying, Browns fans. I'm trying to talk
- 31:15Speaker 1: myself into giving you guys a win. I'm going to
- 31:19Speaker 1: be doing this all week. I probably have a different
- 31:21Speaker 1: answer now than I do Thursday. Hmm. This is tough.
- 31:31Speaker 1: This is tough.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Every time you do this, I feel like you just
- 31:37Speaker 2: try to talk yourself into a team that's hot in
- 31:40Speaker 2: the moment. Instead of picking the team that's proven it
- 31:44Speaker 2: year after year after year. I don't know if I
- 31:47Speaker 2: can convince you easily or not, Richard, but I just
- 31:49Speaker 2: think this is an obvious Pittsburgh Steelers win. Polly Market's
- 31:53Speaker 2: got them at a 58% likelihood. I know you like Cleveland.
- 31:57Speaker 2: But I'll let you sit there and internally debate for
- 32:00Speaker 2: another few minutes. I know you're inevitably going to pick
- 32:03Speaker 2: the Steelers, though.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's their receiving threat. Are you really going
- 32:09Speaker 1: to depend on Darnell Washington to be your top receiver
- 32:13Speaker 1: week in and week out? Or is DK Metcalf going
- 32:16Speaker 1: to show up? Jalen Warren had a great game last
- 32:18Speaker 1: week and really was a lot of their offense. Can
- 32:22Speaker 1: you depend on him to be your bell cow every
- 32:25Speaker 1: week and, you know, have 127 yards on 17 carries?
- 32:30Speaker 1: Can you depend on Aaron, you know, throwing for 292
- 32:34Speaker 1: and three touchdowns? Browns. Browns fans. I can't do it. Pittsburgh.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I got Pittsburgh by a touchdown.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Call me a Mayan reader predicted that a couple minutes ago, Richard.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Like you said, DK Metcalf, it's time for him to
- 32:50Speaker 2: step up. 11 receptions on the season for 98 yards
- 32:53Speaker 2: and a touchdown. He's a lot better than that. Everyone
- 32:56Speaker 2: knows it. This team needs to be more dynamic offensively
- 32:59Speaker 2: if they want to convince Richard Sherman to pick him
- 33:02Speaker 2: a lot quicker than he just did right there. I
- 33:05Speaker 2: like Pittsburgh too. This one's going to be a grinded
- 33:07Speaker 2: out game, like you said, but give me Pittsburgh. Richard,
- 33:12Speaker 2: let's talk a little bit about the Buffalo Bills, number
- 33:14Speaker 2: one team in my power ranks, number two in.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, Mitchell.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Wait a minute. We're getting some breaking news that your
- 33:22Speaker 1: Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers are making progress towards a
- 33:27Speaker 1: trade for Joey Porter Jr. Not going to get a first,
- 33:31Speaker 1: obviously holding out for a second rounder. I can tell
- 33:35Speaker 1: you my thoughts about this. I don't think Pittsburgh thinks
- 33:38Speaker 1: as highly of Joey Porter as Joey Porter thinks of
- 33:40Speaker 1: Joey Porter, and I think that's where the divide is.
- 33:45Speaker 1: He wanted over $ 33 million a year. I don't know
- 33:49Speaker 1: if I would be in the $ 30 million range for
- 33:51Speaker 1: Joey Porter, not because he's not a talent, but because
- 33:55Speaker 1: their defense right now isn't a ton different without him there.
- 33:58Speaker 1: And when you have a big-time corner and you want
- 34:01Speaker 1: to pay that, you want to know that, hey, with him–
- 34:04Speaker 1: on and off the field, you can tell the difference.
- 34:08Speaker 1: And I don't think Pittsburgh feels they can. The concern
- 34:11Speaker 1: I have if I'm Detroit is not picking him up
- 34:14Speaker 1: because I think he obviously helps your defense in a
- 34:17Speaker 1: big way, but what will you pay him? What will
- 34:20Speaker 1: you have to pay him? So it's paying twice. It's
- 34:23Speaker 1: not only just paying in draft capital, but then paying
- 34:26Speaker 1: $ 30- plus million to a guy who has not yet to
- 34:30Speaker 1: play for you or make an impact, and you're hoping.
- 34:32Speaker 1: This is midseason, so you're not getting to do All
- 34:35Speaker 1: the research, you're not getting a whole training camp to really,
- 34:38Speaker 1: really bring him into your team, a whole offseason to
- 34:41Speaker 1: really get to know and I don't know. I don't
- 34:48Speaker 1: know if they if they trade him and don't have
- 34:50Speaker 1: to pay him yet. I support this trade a lot more.
- 34:53Speaker 1: If they trade him and immediately have to pay him
- 34:56Speaker 1: over $ 30 million a year, I think that changes.
- 34:58Speaker 2: I agree 100% with you. And this tells me one thing.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Brad Holmes must have been listening to the Richard Sherman
- 35:03Speaker 2: podcast over the weekend because I called this. This Lions
- 35:07Speaker 2: team is set up to win right now, but they
- 35:10Speaker 2: have a glaring weakness and it lies in the secondary.
- 35:13Speaker 2: This team, if they're serious about winning the Super Bowl
- 35:16Speaker 2: this year, not four years from now, not five years
- 35:19Speaker 2: from now, this year, They need to address this in
- 35:22Speaker 2: a meaningful way. Joey Porter Jr. does just that for them.
- 35:26Speaker 2: If they give up a second round pick and they
- 35:28Speaker 2: choose not to pay him right away, I'm fine with
- 35:30Speaker 2: punting on a second round pick. But like you just said,
- 35:33Speaker 2: I am not fine with giving $ 33 million plus to
- 35:37Speaker 2: a corner that's never stepped foot in a Lions uniform
- 35:40Speaker 2: and strapped on cleats for the Detroit Lions. So, you know,
- 35:44Speaker 2: I would wait and see before I paid the guy.
- 35:47Speaker 2: You know, I know it's not going to make him happy,
- 35:49Speaker 2: but The franchise tag is always there, and the Lions
- 35:52Speaker 2: need to get crafty here because they've got a lot
- 35:54Speaker 2: of other guys in their locker room to pay before
- 35:57Speaker 2: just them. Richard, let's take it to the game. Let's
- 36:01Speaker 2: take it to the Detroit Lions game because this is
- 36:05Speaker 2: a Sunday night game, and it's going to be featuring
- 36:07Speaker 2: two teams that have high-flying offenses early in the season.
- 36:11Speaker 2: The Detroit Lions travel to the Carolina Panthers, and I
- 36:15Speaker 2: think you've got a little something to say about this game.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mitchell, this Carolina Panthers offense is one
- 36:23Speaker 1: that can score the football. They can put the ball
- 36:26Speaker 1: in the end zone. And your Detroit Lions are also
- 36:31Speaker 1: a team that can put the ball in the end zone.
- 36:34Speaker 1: The problem is they don't do a great job of
- 36:36Speaker 1: stopping anybody from putting the ball in the end zone.
- 36:39Speaker 1: And if Carolina can play as they have majority of
- 36:43Speaker 1: this season, they're one of the top scoring offenses in
- 36:45Speaker 1: the National Football League, uh, Mitchell Carolina is fifth in scoring,
- 36:52Speaker 1: but 26th in defense. Detroit is third in scoring offense,
- 36:56Speaker 1: but 32nd in defense. It's a more even match than
- 37:01Speaker 1: Poly Market is giving credit for. They have your Detroit Lions,
- 37:05Speaker 1: Honolulu Blue Boys, 64% chance of winning this game. Mitchell,
- 37:13Speaker 1: this is my upset alert. I know you don't like it.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I know this isn't going to sound great to fans
- 37:18Speaker 1: in Detroit. or E-Troit, whatever, because until they start playing defense,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I don't know if I can call them Detroit. But Mitchell,
- 37:28Speaker 1: this has all the smells of an upset. It just
- 37:37Speaker 1: smells like Detroit is going to go in there and
- 37:40Speaker 1: score 31 points but give up 36. Say it with–
- 37:44Speaker 1: I got carried away. Oh, shit. There it is.
- 37:47Speaker 2: I was going to tell you to say it with
- 37:48Speaker 2: your chest, but you just said it. Caroline, you're not wrong, Richard,
- 37:53Speaker 2: in your breakdown, because this is something, this game could
- 37:56Speaker 2: be in the 40s. This game could be a 42
- 37:59Speaker 2: to 41 thriller. But oftentimes when we think games are
- 38:03Speaker 2: going to be like that, they go the total opposite. Detroit,
- 38:08Speaker 2: in breaking down their gameplay against the Jets, Dan Campbell
- 38:12Speaker 2: was super impressed with his defense, which I don't quite
- 38:15Speaker 2: understand why i mean they gave up 16 fourth quarter
- 38:18Speaker 2: points to the jets when they were up 16 points
- 38:21Speaker 2: and allowed the jets to get back into that game
- 38:24Speaker 2: and make it a lot closer than it needed to
- 38:26Speaker 2: be uh detroit's got a lot to prove in this
- 38:28Speaker 2: game at carolina like you mentioned got a high flying
- 38:32Speaker 2: offense i got a bunch of offensive weapons we'll see
- 38:34Speaker 2: the health of jaylen coker he's a good young wide
- 38:36Speaker 2: receiver for them they've obviously obviously got ted arolic mcmillan
- 38:40Speaker 2: um You know, that being said, I like the Detroit Lions.
- 38:44Speaker 2: I think this is a prove-it game for the Lions.
- 38:46Speaker 2: They've held close with their opponents that they've played throughout
- 38:49Speaker 2: the first three games. This is the first one I
- 38:51Speaker 2: think the Lions win in controlling fashion. Give me the
- 38:54Speaker 2: Lions to win by 10 points. I expect Aiden Hutchinson
- 38:57Speaker 2: to get after the quarterback. DJ Wonham got two sacks
- 39:01Speaker 2: last game. Aleem McNeil's proven that he's healthy again. Watch
- 39:05Speaker 2: out for the bowling ball in the middle, Richard. Skyler
- 39:08Speaker 2: Gil Howard, the rookie out of Texas Tech. But that
- 39:12Speaker 2: back end, man, that secondary, that's where they got a
- 39:15Speaker 2: lot to prove. We cannot just cross our fingers and
- 39:19Speaker 2: pray for Kirby Joseph to return and pray for Brian
- 39:22Speaker 2: Branch to return and pray for Joey Porter to be
- 39:24Speaker 2: traded for. These guys in the room have got to
- 39:27Speaker 2: step up and the Detroit Lions have got to show
- 39:29Speaker 2: that they can do it. are a contender in this
- 39:31Speaker 2: NFC because right now that offense have shown it, but
- 39:34Speaker 2: that defense, oh boy, the Detroit Lions, as you called them,
- 39:38Speaker 2: can we put the D back in Detroit, please, for
- 39:41Speaker 2: the love of God, Richard?
- 39:44Speaker 1: We're going to see. We're going to see. And we're
- 39:46Speaker 1: going to see, because Tedderon McMillan, Crocker, Xavier Leggett, Chubba Hubbard,
- 39:53Speaker 1: those are names you're going to be familiarizing yourself with
- 39:57Speaker 1: this weekend. And I hope, I pray, that the Detroit
- 40:03Speaker 1: Lions play some defense this week. I know that Dan
- 40:06Speaker 1: Campbell spoke life into them, as he should. Good kid, coach,
- 40:09Speaker 1: guy who wants his defense to show up in a
- 40:11Speaker 1: big way. If they don't, conversation.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Richard you want a dc job in detroit i'm not
- 40:25Speaker 2: i got a spare bedroom you can just lay your
- 40:28Speaker 2: feet up on man you can chill out here for
- 40:30Speaker 2: a couple weeks until you find a place around here
- 40:32Speaker 2: it'll be great it'll be great.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I appreciate that i appreciate that well we would have
- 40:37Speaker 1: a lot of changes in the back end and we
- 40:38Speaker 1: would have some conversations and we need a whole training
- 40:41Speaker 1: camp off season maybe another off season And I'd need
- 40:43Speaker 1: some other coaches to– but that's, you know, we're not
- 40:46Speaker 1: going to go down that– we're not going down that path, Mitchell.
- 40:49Speaker 1: They're going to keep Kelvin Shepard and good luck.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Well, Richard's calling for an upset Carolina Panthers, victorious against
- 40:57Speaker 2: the Lions per Richard Sherman. Let's talk about the number
- 41:00Speaker 2: one team on my power ranks. This is the Buffalo Bills.
- 41:04Speaker 2: They take on the New England Patriots at home. The
- 41:08Speaker 2: Buffalo Bills' opportunity to start the season 4-0, Coming into this,
- 41:13Speaker 2: when you're looking at the schedule, coming into week four,
- 41:15Speaker 2: you thought this was going to be the matchup of
- 41:17Speaker 2: the week. The New England Patriots have truly laid an
- 41:20Speaker 2: egg the last couple weeks. Drake May looks like a
- 41:24Speaker 2: rookie all over again. He's really struggled turning the ball over.
- 41:28Speaker 2: What do you expect to see in this matchup of
- 41:30Speaker 2: division rivals.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Here, Richard?
- 41:31Speaker 2: Can Drake May right this ship and lead the Patriots
- 41:35Speaker 2: to victory on the road? Or does Buffalo keep this
- 41:38Speaker 2: train rolling and roll out to a 4-0 start?
- 41:43Speaker 1: It's a division game. So I got to give him
- 41:45Speaker 1: a puncher's chance, but it just looks like Drake may
- 41:47Speaker 1: has lost his mojo. And that's the most sad part
- 41:50Speaker 1: about this. Um, it's hard for them to open up
- 41:53Speaker 1: the run game for, for Trey, Trey, beyond Hendricks, Henderson, and, uh,
- 41:57Speaker 1: remind Dre Stevenson because Drake may can't push the ball
- 42:00Speaker 1: down the field. Obviously they're without their guy who they
- 42:03Speaker 1: brought in this off season, who they were really excited about.
- 42:06Speaker 1: AJ Brown. Um, and just haven't really found anybody else
- 42:11Speaker 1: to fill the void. Matt Collins is a guy who
- 42:14Speaker 1: just keeps finding a way, no matter where he is,
- 42:17Speaker 1: to be productive and to get targets. You would think
- 42:21Speaker 1: that Romeo Dobbs would have been the guy, or Demario
- 42:25Speaker 1: Douglas would be the guy to step up when A.J. Brown,
- 42:28Speaker 1: but of course it's Matt Collins. But they're not scoring
- 42:35Speaker 1: the football, and not that Buffalo has the best defense
- 42:38Speaker 1: in the world, but Again, he just looks like he
- 42:41Speaker 1: has no confidence. And when you don't have confidence in
- 42:43Speaker 1: this league, you don't have anything. And they asked Vrabel
- 42:48Speaker 1: what he felt about it. He said his level of
- 42:49Speaker 1: concern was very high. And you can see why. His
- 42:52Speaker 1: quarterback isn't playing well. And you don't really see the
- 42:55Speaker 1: same things that you saw last year. And obviously, everybody's
- 42:58Speaker 1: going to point to the easy schedule last year. They
- 43:01Speaker 1: never played anybody. But this was, you know, they were
- 43:03Speaker 1: in the same division last year. And they beat the
- 43:05Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills. So we aren't going to act like, He
- 43:08Speaker 1: can't play well against the Buffalo Bills, or he never
- 43:11Speaker 1: played well against the Buffalo Bills, but the way Josh
- 43:13Speaker 1: Allen's playing, the way he struggled against the LA Chargers,
- 43:16Speaker 1: I think he comes back with a vengeance. I think
- 43:18Speaker 1: Joe Brady is going to be trying to make a
- 43:20Speaker 1: point to get Josh Allen back on track with everything,
- 43:25Speaker 1: get James Cook back on track. He had a good
- 43:27Speaker 1: game last week. I just don't see a way that
- 43:31Speaker 1: the New England Patriots, playing the way they have the
- 43:33Speaker 1: last few weeks, can win this game. They haven't run
- 43:35Speaker 1: the ball well. They've played solid defense. They're They're sixth
- 43:39Speaker 1: in points allowed. So, you know, we can't put all
- 43:42Speaker 1: the blame on their defense. But if you can't score
- 43:45Speaker 1: the ball in this league, Mitchell, you're going to struggle.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Give me the Bills as well. They had a rough showing,
- 43:50Speaker 2: turning the ball over five times last weekend. I expect
- 43:55Speaker 2: them to be a lot sharper in this game and
- 43:57Speaker 2: take care of business. I'm rolling with the Bills for
- 44:01Speaker 2: the foreseeable future here, Richard. I can see them making
- 44:03Speaker 2: a run for a while here.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Support for today's episode comes from Square, the system powering
- 44:11Speaker 1: so many of the places we all use every day.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Seriously, you can go into a packed sports bar on
- 44:17Speaker 2: game day, grab food, tap your card, and you're out.

- 45:30Speaker 2: Let's move on to one of the most overhyped teams
- 45:33Speaker 2: in recent memory. Coming into the season, the Los Angeles
- 45:37Speaker 2: Rams were being talked about as a team that was
- 45:40Speaker 2: going to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl and
- 45:42Speaker 2: everyone's Super Bowl favorites. They brought back Aaron Donald. They
- 45:46Speaker 2: traded for Miles Garrett. They brought in the two-headed monster
- 45:50Speaker 2: of Watson and McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs. So
- 45:55Speaker 2: they have addressed a ton of needs, especially defensively, yet
- 45:58Speaker 2: they start the season 1-2. And yes, they are dealing
- 46:02Speaker 2: with injuries. Puka Nakua has been out with an injury. Obviously,
- 46:05Speaker 2: Myles Garrett's on IR. Now they head to the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 46:10Speaker 2: and they take on Philly in Philly, which is not
- 46:12Speaker 2: an easy place to play. Puka Nakua is still questionable.
- 46:16Speaker 2: They're going to be without Myles Garrett. Richard, is it
- 46:19Speaker 2: time to sound the alarm in LA? They could be
- 46:22Speaker 2: potentially out to a 1-3 start here if they don't
- 46:25Speaker 2: pull off a win on Sunday.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I don't think it's quite time to sound the alarm
- 46:31Speaker 1: just because of how well their offense is playing. They're
- 46:33Speaker 1: the top offense in the National Football League in terms
- 46:36Speaker 1: of yards. They're 428 yards per game, but they're not scoring.
- 46:40Speaker 1: They're not scoring the football. They're not scoring in the
- 46:42Speaker 1: red zone. And so they're getting a lot of yards.
- 46:44Speaker 1: They're getting to the red zone. They're moving it well,
- 46:46Speaker 1: but they can't finish. And that's something that I think
- 46:48Speaker 1: is going to change. I think that's something that when
- 46:52Speaker 1: Pupin Nakua returns, is going to change. Give them another weapon.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Give them another way that they can attack a defense.
- 46:58Speaker 1: So I expect that to change in a big way.
- 47:01Speaker 1: I think on the other side of the coin, the
- 47:05Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles looked terrible the other day. I can't say
- 47:09Speaker 1: terrible because they only looked terrible in the second half.
- 47:12Speaker 1: In the first half, they moved the ball well in
- 47:16Speaker 1: the air, on the ground. I thought that I thought
- 47:20Speaker 1: that Saquon Barkley was doing a good job. I thought
- 47:23Speaker 1: their offensive line was giving him room to run. He
- 47:26Speaker 1: had some explosive runs. Jalen Hurts was taking what the
- 47:29Speaker 1: defense gave him. He ended up getting– he didn't get hurt,
- 47:34Speaker 1: but it ended up being a critical play and a
- 47:37Speaker 1: critical hit penalty decision in the game when he was
- 47:42Speaker 1: forced out after a big hit and put into the
- 47:47Speaker 1: tent for a concussion check. They were in the red zone.
- 47:51Speaker 1: they got all the way to the one-yard line, a
- 47:54Speaker 1: position that I think, and if Jalen Hurts was in,
- 47:56Speaker 1: they would have push-pushed their way in and likely scored. Instead,
- 48:00Speaker 1: they get a false start penalty, back it up, allow
- 48:05Speaker 1: the Red Rocket to throw a pass, an option route
- 48:08Speaker 1: in the back of the end zone. He throws it
- 48:10Speaker 1: to the other team. It ends up not working out.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And then they really don't get very much going outside
- 48:19Speaker 1: of of a tush push late in the second half, right.
- 48:22Speaker 1: As time expired because they, they didn't have time to
- 48:25Speaker 1: spike it. You know, they could have, they could have
- 48:27Speaker 1: not scored at all in this game. And if you're
- 48:30Speaker 1: a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and you're watching this
- 48:33Speaker 1: and you watch the Tennessee game and you watch the
- 48:36Speaker 1: commanders game, you gotta be, you gotta be concerned. Um,
- 48:42Speaker 1: I think they're amongst the league leaders in three and outs. Um,
- 48:47Speaker 1: And I'm not going to sit here and say, oh, man,
- 48:49Speaker 1: it's because you lost A.J. Brown. Like, if A.J. Brown
- 48:52Speaker 1: was here, this offense would be through the roof. No,
- 48:55Speaker 1: because it wasn't that great last year with A.J. Brown.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Something's broken in this offense. And, again, over the middle
- 49:07Speaker 1: of the field. Mitchell, it's an area over the middle
- 49:10Speaker 1: of the field that they have to attack more. And
- 49:13Speaker 1: it looks like Sean Mannion's. Drawing plays up for for
- 49:17Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts to attack the middle of the field and
- 49:19Speaker 1: he's not necessarily finding them consistently enough and that's obviously
- 49:24Speaker 1: not the only issue in this offense but that's an
- 49:26Speaker 1: issue I see popping up consistently and they got to
- 49:30Speaker 1: get it fixed if they can't get explosive on offense
- 49:33Speaker 1: and then on defense. They're not, you got to give
- 49:37Speaker 1: the Bears a ton of credit. The Bears offensive line
- 49:39Speaker 1: is the best in football. They were moving this Philadelphia
- 49:43Speaker 1: defensive line in a way that not many people move them, period,
- 49:47Speaker 1: point blank, in the National Football League. Menungai and DeAndre
- 49:50Speaker 1: Swift were finding gaping holes. They were protecting Case Keenum,
- 49:54Speaker 1: but even when Case Keenum was getting pressured or getting hit,
- 49:58Speaker 1: he was still delivering passes on the money. And I
- 50:03Speaker 1: know Vic Fangio is very frustrated because they went into
- 50:06Speaker 1: this offseason. They got two all pros back there. They
- 50:09Speaker 1: got Tariq Woolen, who got a couple penalties, ticky-tack penalties
- 50:13Speaker 1: in this game. But they've been very excited about what
- 50:16Speaker 1: he brings to the secondary. But then you look up
- 50:18Speaker 1: and you get beat 27-7 against the Bears team without
- 50:21Speaker 1: Caleb Williams. It takes you back to the drawing board.
- 50:23Speaker 1: And things don't get any easier when you're going to
- 50:25Speaker 1: face Devontae Adams, who, despite being older in age, is
- 50:31Speaker 1: having one of the best seasons of his life and
- 50:33Speaker 1: one of the best starts to a season in his career.
- 50:38Speaker 1: And Matthew Stafford, he and Matthew Stafford have a better
- 50:41Speaker 1: chemistry and rapport than they have had since he's been
- 50:44Speaker 1: in L.A. So, again, this is a dangerous team to
- 50:46Speaker 1: run into. The Philadelphia Eagles are not expected to win
- 50:49Speaker 1: this game. I don't expect them to win this game,
- 50:51Speaker 1: and Polly Market doesn't expect them to win this game.
- 50:54Speaker 1: And unless this Philadelphia defense steps up in a big way,
- 50:57Speaker 1: I can't see a way they pull off a win.
- 51:00Speaker 2: If Puka Nakua plays, give me the Rams. If he doesn't,
- 51:04Speaker 2: give me the Eagles. Like you said, there's an identity
- 51:07Speaker 2: crisis going on in Philly. That offense looks broken. Jalen
- 51:11Speaker 2: Hurts needs to utilize his legs more on the ground.
- 51:14Speaker 2: That's my two cents. They do not have the playmakers
- 51:17Speaker 2: they once had. Dallas Goddard is hurt. A lot of
- 51:20Speaker 2: question marks in Philly, and there should be after that
- 51:23Speaker 2: Monday night performance. Let's move on to a team that
- 51:26Speaker 2: disappointed both of us last week. We had them both
- 51:29Speaker 2: in our power ranks. At number five, the Cincinnati Bengals
- 51:33Speaker 2: are hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. And a little bit surprising here,
- 51:37Speaker 2: Polymarket gives Cincinnati a 57% chance to win this game.
- 51:42Speaker 2: So they like Cincinnati, especially at home. But yet we
- 51:45Speaker 2: saw Jacksonville take it to New England last week and
- 51:48Speaker 2: look like a team that was just getting started. They've
- 51:51Speaker 2: got a number of offensive playmakers. wide receiver room that
- 51:55Speaker 2: is absolutely loaded in Parker, Washington, Brian Thomas, uh, junior, uh,
- 52:00Speaker 2: Jacoby Myers, et cetera, et cetera. Do you think Cincinnati
- 52:05Speaker 2: can bounce back here after a disappointing loss to the
- 52:08Speaker 2: Pittsburgh Steelers last week and take care of the Jacksonville
- 52:11Speaker 2: Jaguars at home?
- 52:15Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I want it. This is,
- 52:22Speaker 1: This is one of those games that could obviously go
- 52:27Speaker 1: either way. Both teams have played really good football at times,
- 52:30Speaker 1: and both teams have struggled in games that you expect
- 52:33Speaker 1: them to win. And the Cincinnati Bengals defense, as soon
- 52:37Speaker 1: as we gave them credit and said, hey, they did
- 52:41Speaker 1: a great job stopping the run the week before. We
- 52:44Speaker 1: were giving Dexter Lawrence his credit, Jonathan Allen his. You know,
- 52:47Speaker 1: those guys up front, all the additions they made in
- 52:49Speaker 1: the offseason, like, wow, Cincinnati Bengals finally putting it on.
- 52:53Speaker 1: And then Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Warren just up and
- 52:57Speaker 1: down the field. Darnell Washington up the sideline. They scored
- 53:01Speaker 1: 30 points on them. So the Jacksonville Jaguars coming off
- 53:05Speaker 1: a game where they scored 35 points. They only gave
- 53:07Speaker 1: up six. They got one of the best receiving cores
- 53:09Speaker 1: in the National Football League. But on the opposite side,
- 53:11Speaker 1: Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals receiving cores. Nothing to...
- 53:16Speaker 1: Nothing to snuff at, Mitchell, at all. You got Jamar Chase.
- 53:20Speaker 1: You got T. Higgins. Both of them had fantastic games
- 53:23Speaker 1: last week. I feel like this Jacksonville defense is the
- 53:28Speaker 1: difference in this game. They're number one in the league
- 53:30Speaker 1: in scoring defense at 12 points a game. They're opportunistic.
- 53:34Speaker 1: They can get after the passer with Jonathan Hines-Allen, with
- 53:39Speaker 1: Javon Walker, our guy Alua Khan. Travis Hunter got a
- 53:47Speaker 1: pick last week. He's starting to play more and be
- 53:52Speaker 1: a little bit more consistent. I hope they will just
- 53:54Speaker 1: leave him on the field and let him consistently get
- 53:57Speaker 1: rep after rep. The only way you can get better
- 53:59Speaker 1: in the National Football League is playing. Let him stay
- 54:01Speaker 1: out there. I know Pauly Market has the Bengals winning
- 54:05Speaker 1: this game, but I got Jacksonville. I got Jacksonville. Come on, Duvall.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Don't let me down this time.
- 54:11Speaker 2: I'm not even going to debate you on that. I
- 54:12Speaker 2: think the Jags are the hotter team right now. Cincy
- 54:15Speaker 2: disappointed last weekend. Give me the Jags to roll in Cincy.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Some big news out of New York. The Giants trading
- 54:22Speaker 2: for J.J.
- 54:22Speaker 1: McCarthy.
- 54:23Speaker 2: We talked about it on Sunday night. We said, are
- 54:26Speaker 2: they in a position where they need to make a
- 54:28Speaker 2: move at quarterback? We threw out names like Jimmy G
- 54:31Speaker 2: and Mack Jones. Here it is, J.J.
- 54:34Speaker 1: McCarthy.
- 54:34Speaker 2: They take a swing at a bust in Minnesota. Kudo
- 54:39Speaker 2: to the Vikings for Moving on from JJ, obviously they
- 54:42Speaker 2: just saw what they saw and they tried everything they
- 54:45Speaker 2: could and realized, hey, we're not going to sit here
- 54:48Speaker 2: and try any harder because we need to move on
- 54:51Speaker 2: from this mistake on our end. It's time for JJ
- 54:54Speaker 2: to enter a place of new scenery. He's obviously got
- 54:57Speaker 2: an opportunity here if Jameis Winston falters. What do you
- 55:02Speaker 2: think about this move and this change of scenery for
- 55:05Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy?
- 55:08Speaker 1: Uh, Good for J.J. McCarthy. You know, new scenery sometimes
- 55:13Speaker 1: helps guys. He's with a hardball again. He played for
- 55:17Speaker 1: Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. I'm sure they had many conversations
- 55:21Speaker 1: about him. He got to watch him live, and I'm
- 55:24Speaker 1: sure Jim has a ton of confidence in him, and
- 55:27Speaker 1: he expressed that to John. I just don't know if
- 55:32Speaker 1: it makes a difference. This Giants team has been pretty
- 55:35Speaker 1: solid defensively. I think they're ninth in scoring. Javon Holland
- 55:39Speaker 1: is a guy that I have a lot of respect for.
- 55:41Speaker 1: I think he's playing at a high level for this defense.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Abdul Carter has at times been disruptive, but there's questions
- 55:50Speaker 1: about his motor just consistently. They lost Brian Burns, obviously.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I just don't know. Arizona gave the 49ers the game.
- 56:02Speaker 1: They scored 30 points against that defense. I think the
- 56:05Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals are a better equipped team. Jacoby Brissett is
- 56:09Speaker 1: playing better. Trey McBride is one of the best tight
- 56:13Speaker 1: ends in the league. Michael Wilson. Does Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 56:18Speaker 1: start to come on? Yeah, I think Arizona wins this.
- 56:23Speaker 2: I agree with you. The New York Giants, they need
- 56:25Speaker 2: to step up. I know they got the ninth best
- 56:27Speaker 2: scoring defense in the league, but they only have one
- 56:28Speaker 2: sack on the season. They've got a lot of big names.
- 56:31Speaker 2: They invested a lot in the trenches, specifically on the
- 56:33Speaker 2: defensive line. Arvel Reese, Abdul Carter. Like you said, Brian Burns,
- 56:37Speaker 2: unfortunately injured. Kayvon Thibodeau. The list goes on. That's a
- 56:41Speaker 2: lot of top 10 picks on that D-line. We got
- 56:44Speaker 2: to see more from this Giants pass rush game. Give
- 56:47Speaker 2: me the Arizona Cardinals as well to win this one
- 56:49Speaker 2: on the road. And then we talked a lot about
- 56:53Speaker 2: it on Sunday, the Brian Flores revenge game. Minnesota hosts
- 56:57Speaker 2: the Miami Dolphins here. How ugly is this going to
- 57:00Speaker 2: get for the Miami Dolphins?
- 57:04Speaker 1: Well, I think Brian Flores is going to empty the
- 57:06Speaker 1: clip on the Miami Dolphins. This is a revenge game
- 57:09Speaker 1: for him. He has a lot of, it seems like,
- 57:13Speaker 1: I can't speak for him, but it seems like there's
- 57:16Speaker 1: some animosity there from the way things went in Miami
- 57:20Speaker 1: and the way He was let go. Obviously, there's some
- 57:24Speaker 1: legal ramifications to that, but I think he's going to
- 57:30Speaker 1: have his guys dialed in and really attacking. I got
- 57:33Speaker 1: the Minnesota Vikings in this one a lot to a little.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I agree. And Dallas, they go to Houston, an 0-3
- 57:40Speaker 2: Houston Texans team. Again, looking at the season early on,
- 57:45Speaker 2: this will be one of the better, bigger games of
- 57:48Speaker 2: the week, yet both of these teams have losing records.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Dallas put up a fight last week against the Baltimore
- 57:53Speaker 2: Ravens down in Brazil. And now they head to Houston.
- 57:57Speaker 2: A team, another team, absolutely desperate for a win. Polly
- 58:02Speaker 2: Market gives Houston the edge of 56% likelihood to win
- 58:06Speaker 2: this game. Does Houston get their first win of the
- 58:10Speaker 2: season this weekend, Richard?
- 58:13Speaker 1: I hope so. They got a defensive player of the
- 58:15Speaker 1: year candidate in Will Anderson. And they got Daniil Hunter
- 58:18Speaker 1: opposite of him. Aziz Alshair in the middle, one of
- 58:23Speaker 1: the best corners in the league, and Derek Stingley on
- 58:25Speaker 1: one side. They got a great secondary, Kamari Lassiter on
- 58:28Speaker 1: the other side of Derek Stingley, Kalen Bullock in the secondary.
- 58:34Speaker 1: They should. They should. They should be better than what
- 58:36Speaker 1: they are. I think they're 19th in defense. Last year,
- 58:41Speaker 1: they were a top five defense, so I think they'll
- 58:44Speaker 1: get back to form, put a lot of pressure on
- 58:46Speaker 1: Dak Prescott, a very explosive offense with C.D. Lamb and
- 58:49Speaker 1: George Pickens and Javante Williams. Dak Prescott has been going.
- 58:53Speaker 1: I think they're seventh in scoring. But Dallas hasn't been
- 58:56Speaker 1: able to stop anybody. And I think this is a
- 58:58Speaker 1: great game for C.J. Stroud to find his rhythm, to
- 59:01Speaker 1: find it, get it going, and finally get a win
- 59:05Speaker 1: for this team.
- 59:06Speaker 2: CJ Stroud needs Nico Collins back. He needs Tank Dell back.
- 59:10Speaker 2: This team has not looked the same since Tank Dell
- 59:13Speaker 2: went out two years ago. This offense has lost their
- 59:17Speaker 2: mojo completely. That being said, if Nico Collins plays, I
- 59:20Speaker 2: think Houston wins. If he doesn't, Dallas with ease. Let's
- 59:25Speaker 2: move on to this next game here. The Chicago Bears, Richard.
- 59:28Speaker 2: I think they shocked everyone that watched that game on
- 59:31Speaker 2: Monday night. They dismantled the Philadelphia Eagles as we already
- 59:34Speaker 2: broke down. But with your third stringer, Case Keenum, taking
- 59:38Speaker 2: the ball under center for the Chicago Bears, a lot
- 59:41Speaker 2: of folks thought it would be a slow, grinded-out kind
- 59:43Speaker 2: of game. That did not happen at all. Case Keenum
- 59:46Speaker 2: threw for over 240 yards, was hitting Luther Burden all
- 59:49Speaker 2: over the field, and Chicago rolled. They host the New
- 59:54Speaker 2: York Jets, who gave the Detroit Lions a fight. This
- 59:56Speaker 2: New York Jet team looks different than the last couple
- 59:59Speaker 2: of years. Aaron Glenn has some legitimate weapons offensively, and
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: that defense is formidable. Do you think the Jets have
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: what it takes to upset the Bears this weekend?
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Well, you know, Geno Smith threw for 320, so 321
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: yards last week, three touchdowns, had a really high QBR.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: you know, he's spreading the ball around. He's been relatively
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: efficient with it and really accurate. But if Chicago plays
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: the way they did against the Philadelphia Eagles on both
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: sides of the football, they're going to be a very
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: tough team to beat. It seems like Case Keenum is
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: a coach on the field and with Tyson Bajent taking
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: a little longer to return from his concussion, I expect
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: him to, even though Tyson Bajent was available last week,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I expect him to go with Case Keenum again. He's
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: the hot hand and I expect Ben Johnson to ride
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: with the hot hand. I got, I got the, Chicago
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Bears in this one.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: I like Chicago as well. It pains me to say that,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: but I'm giving Chicago credit. They're number five in my
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: power ranks. A Detroiter put in Chicago. I had a
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Detroit in the power ranks. It's a sad day for me, Richard,
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: but I'm going to keep it honest. I'm going to
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: keep it a buck, as the kids say.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Keep it a buck. No Milwaukee. Richard, okay.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Next game, the Washington Commanders. Big time upset this past weekend,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: but you wouldn't know it based on Polymarket's prediction here.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: Polymarket gives the Washington Commanders a 37% chance to win
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts head into Washington. Indy
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: got their first win in America with Sauce Gardner. I
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: guess Sauce Gardner's first win in America in 600 some days,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: which is a wild statistic. Do they keep this win
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: streak going? Can they make it two? At the Commanders.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. If the Commanders play like they
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: did against the Seattle Seahawks, Marcus Mariota shredded that defense
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: and had his way, made a ton of plays with
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: his arm and his legs. They're going to be a
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: tough team to beat. Defensively, they stopped the run. If
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: they're able to stop Jonathan Taylor the way that they
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: were able to stop Seattle's run game, they could be
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: a really formidable team. Maybe that was a one-off. You know,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: they just got up to play the reigning Super Bowl champs,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and maybe this is going to be a letdown game
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: for them. But, you know, those kind of games give
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a team confidence that they can go out there and
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: beat anybody. Obviously, they're still 31st in defense, but I
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: don't know. Dan Quinn can motivate some guys. But Indiana
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Jones and Jonathan Taylor, they're not playing great defense either.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I just feel like if I go with the commanders,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: they're going to, They're going to go back to the
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: old commanders, not the commanders that played the Seahawks. They're
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: going to just go back to their old ways, and
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I'm going to look silly. Heaven, I got to go
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: with the commanders. They made me a believer. They beat
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: the Seahawks and scored 33 points on them, and that's
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: one of the best defenses in the league over the
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: last two years. Well-coached team, you know. Again, that's the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: unpredictability of the National Football League.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: I'm not even going to debate you on that. This
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: game could go either way. I like the Indianapolis Colts,
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: but I totally get why you like the Commanders here.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Let's talk about the Baltimore Ravens. They host the Tennessee
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Titans here. Tennessee is ice cold. They have been for
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: years now. Cam Ward under center really hasn't shown a
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: whole lot of pop here with this team offensively. Is
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: it too early to really sit back and question whether
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: cam ward is the right guy in tennessee.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: No it's not too early um i think you got
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: to start questioning that and you got to start uh
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: finding answers and and obviously you got to keep putting
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: him out there and keep giving him opportunities but you
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: know some of the plays out there i mean i
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: know it's just the style it's the same way he
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: was in college when he stops his feet and he backpedals,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: and he's just reading the field, and guys are just
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: blocking their butt off, and then he just nonchalantly flings
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: the ball. It was effective in college. It just doesn't
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: look right in the National Football League for some reason.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I don't know if it looked right in college. But
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: they're not winning games, and when you're not winning, people
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: are critical of everything, and people are going to start
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to criticize that. And if he can't start to string
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: together some wins and string together some consistent performances– it
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: may be time to look at other options, especially if
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: they're going to be picking high in the draft again
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: this year. I got Baltimore winning this game. Baltimore played
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: really well out there in Brazil when they needed to
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: have it. Got a big play late in the game
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: to get themselves in field goal range, a long field goal,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: walk-off field goal in that game. Again, Lamar is Lamar.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Derrick Henry, King Henry is King Henry. They're great on offense.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: They're still only 21st on defense, and I'm sure Jesse
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Minter wants to change that. I'm not sure how that's
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: going to change, but playing the Tennessee Titans and what
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: they've done offensively should help.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I know the Kansas City Chiefs were my no-doubt-about-it lock
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: of the week, but this is my absolute guarantee lock
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: of the week. Give me the Baltimore Ravens as well.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: The Green Bay Packers, fresh off a demoralizing, deflating loss
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, a game
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: that you witnessed firsthand. head to Tampa Bay, a team
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: that's 0-1-3, without their starting quarterback in Baker Mayfield. They
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: turn to Jalen Daniels, an undrafted free agent. Richard, Todd
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Bowles has gotten a lot of pressure on him, I
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: would have to believe. He's lost his top coordinators over
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: the last few years. Dave Canales, Liam Cohen, both going
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: on and showing that they are having success at their
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: new That being said, Todd Bowles has kind of been
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: a letdown of recent. His defense has always been decent,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: but this year it's struggling. Richard, what gives with Tampa Bay?
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: Do you have any hope that they can pull this
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: game out without Baker Mayfield?
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Well, I think one thing you're missing is Mike Evans,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: the loss of Mike Evans. A guy who was a
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: walking 1,000-yard season for the past, what, 11, 12 seasons
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: in Tampa Bay, and you lose that guy. You lose
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Devontae David, who's been a stalwart in Tampa Bay for
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: his entire career. Vitavia is trying to work his way out,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: obviously playing hard and doing what he needs to do,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: but a guy who wants to be paid or he
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: wants to play somewhere else. And I think the combination
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: of those things makes it tough on a team. But
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: With all that said, Green Bay really put a bad
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: taste in my mouth last week. We had them winning
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that game in an abysmal performance by Jordan Love. Their
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: offensive line has been really, really, really... I mean, they've
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: been beat up with injuries. They got a guard playing center.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: They got two centers playing guard. They got guards playing tackle.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Everybody's out of position right now, and it's hard to
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: play that way. And hopefully, you know, obviously as a team,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: as an offensive line plays more games and more reps together,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: they get better, but I expect Todd Bowles to put
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: pressure on them and, and, and try that integrity and
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: see how, how much better they are this week and
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: how much better they can pick it up. Obviously Christian
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Watson and Golden can get open, get down the field.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Both speedsters can, can make explosive plays, but, I just
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: don't know. This is not a great game to call.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Can Tampa Bay do enough offensively to win this game?
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: I think so. We'll see. Obviously, they feel good about
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Jalen Daniels, or they would have picked somebody else up.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Bowles still thinks they can win this division, and he's right.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: This division always just comes down to the last few
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: weeks and who wants to get over. 500. They're only
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: one back in this division. I would love to pick
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Green Bay. It's going to be hot in Tampa. Green
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Bay just hasn't played good enough for me to pick them.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: And Matt LaFleur, I know we want to say, is
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Matt LaFleur going to be on the hot seat if
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: they go 1-3? He's not. They just signed him to
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: an extension in January. Give me Tampa Bay. Give me
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: the old Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mitchell, in this one. I
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: know Polly Market only gives them a 36% chance to
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: win this game, but it just feels like They're right
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: that this is the time. Obviously, Baker has struggled this season,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: and I'm not sure what that's all about. But these
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: backup quarterbacks have been leading upsets the last few weeks.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I think that trend continues. continues.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: The other thing with Green Bay, Richard, they lost Ontavian Wicks,
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: they lost Romeo Dobbs. Those were some unsung heroes for them.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: We always joked about it last year, but they seemingly
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: had five number two wide receivers, and now they only
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: have two number two wide receivers, because Christian Watson and
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: Matthew Goldner are there, and then Jaden Reed suffers the injury,
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: so There's a lot of questions in that wide receiving room.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: And Josh Jacobs. You're missing Josh Jacobs.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: And Josh Jacobs. But what was once an embarrassment of
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: riches for Green Bay has now become a major question
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: mark for their team. Let's talk about the team that
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: absolutely blew the doors off of Green Bay last week,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: and that's the Atlanta Falcons. They traveled to the Saints.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Both teams won in two. We called for it last podcast.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: The NFC North. Will one team please step up? Fortunately,
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: I guess personally, More than likely, one of these teams
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: is going to win this game this Monday night. Who
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: do you think has got the upper hand at the
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: end of the Monday night, the Saints or the Falcons?
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Well, the Atlanta Falcons benefited from a boost from Michael Penix. Obviously,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: you're not expecting Drake London to have 194 receiving yards
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: every week. You're not expecting B. John Robinson to have
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: 194 yards on the ground every week. Their defense was
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: very impressive. They were aggressive. I really like Xavier Watts. C.J.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Henderson played a fantastic game in replacement of A.J. Terrell.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Mike Hughes was solid. He gave up some plays, but
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: that's the life of playing corner. I really like Xavier Watts.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: On the other side, Tyler Shuck has been really good
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: this season. I want to say he might be still
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: leading the league in passing yards. Uh, he's been, he's
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: been playing well. They've been putting up points. Uh, he's
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: had them in every game, but again, this is an
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: NFC South matchup. Uh, Jeff old brick is a, is
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: a guy that I want to do well. Um, but
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Tyler Shuck has been feeding Chris Olave, uh, The feet. Mitchell.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Give me. New Orleans has been great offensively, not the
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: greatest defense. Atlanta, if they play like they did against
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Green Bay, but Green Bay hasn't played well. Oh. Give
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: me Atlanta on the road. Oh, okay.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Give me the Saints. I like Tyler Schuch. I think
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: we're going to see a vintage Saints offense this week.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Travis Etienne, or Etienne as he's being called now, I guess, correctly.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Alvin Kamara is going to be the starting running back
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: for the New Orleans Saints, more than likely heading into
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: Monday night. I think we might see some vintage Alvin Kamara.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: Chris Olave was active. I mean, second in the receiving
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: behind JSN. I like the Saints. So you and I differ,
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: my friend. Before we wrap things up, I got one
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: burning question I got to ask you. Tyreek Hill went
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: down with a nasty injury last year. He's working back
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: from that injury. You know, assuming he's on pace, middle
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: of the season to come back and be healthy. Who
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: do you think would be the best team to pick
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: him up? What do you think the best fit is
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: for Tyreek Hill?
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Well, a lot of that depends on Tyreek Hill's price.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: If he's asking for $ 20 million a year or $ 10
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: million with a ton of incentives, I think that puts
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: out a lot of the top contenders. I think a
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: team like the Houston Texans have to obviously do their
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: research into that. The San Francisco 49ers don't have the
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: money to pay him anything, but if he's trying to
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: take a high– low-risk, high-reward type of deal and go
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: out there and prove himself, then I think they'd take
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: a shot at him. It could be any team. There's
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: a ton of teams that need receiver help and can
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: use an explosive receiver like Tyreek Hill, depending on where
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: he actually is in his rehab process, what he looks like,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: can he come back and be the same player that
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: he was. Shoot, the L.A. Chargers. I mean, can he
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: have a reunion with Mike McDaniels? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. I
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: think that would make sense for both parties. But we'll see.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: We'll see. I think any team can use a player
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: like Tyreek at this point.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Give me the Las Vegas Raiders. You heard it here first.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Mitch Eisenstein on the Richard Sherman podcast. I like Tyreek
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: Hill to the Raiders. Stick it to the Chiefs. Stay
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: in the division. Help out Kirk Cousins. That's what I like, Richard.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: It's always a pleasure sitting with you midweek here, calling
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: these predictions. You got to get better with your calls.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: I got to get better with my calls too, man.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: But week after week, we got a chance to go 17-0, 16-0.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: One of these weeks, we will do it. Richard, always
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: a great time sitting down with you. I will let
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: you sign us off, my friend.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Thank you guys for continuing to join us. Whether you
