- 0:00Psalm 14 from the book of Psalms.
- 0:03First, let's pray. Dear Lord, please be with us as
- 0:07we read through this and as we discuss things that this Psalm
- 0:14led me to. We ask for your Holy Spirit to
- 0:17give us wisdom, insight, open our minds, our hearts and our
- 0:22ears to hear what you have to say through your word.
- 0:26We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. This is a very short Psalm but
- 0:33it led me to quite a bit of research and thoughts that came
- 0:38just flooded as I went through this.
- 0:41So you can stay with me as long as you are comfortable doing so.
- 0:47This is Psalm 14. Let's start.
- 0:50The fool says in his heart, there is no God.
- 0:54They are corrupt, their deeds are vile, there is no one who
- 0:58does good. The Lord looks down from heaven
- 1:02on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who
- 1:09seek God. All have turned away, all have
- 1:15become corrupt. There is no one who does good,
- 1:20not even 1. Do all these evil doers know
- 1:24nothing? They devour my people as though
- 1:28eating bread. They never call on the Lord, but
- 1:33there they are overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the
- 1:39company of the righteous. You evil doers frustrate the
- 1:43plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.
- 1:47Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion.
- 1:52When the Lord restores His people, let Jacob rejoice and
- 1:57Israel be glad. And that's the end of Psalm 14.
- 2:02So we see a few things in here just about those who don't put
- 2:08their trust in God, those who say there is no God, those who
- 2:12do not seek God. And those are equated to evil
- 2:16doers. And it says that those evil
- 2:20doers are actually overwhelmed with dread in verse 5.
- 2:25But it says it says for God is present in the company of the
- 2:31righteous. So God is present in the company
- 2:34of the righteous, and then it seems like he's pleading for
- 2:40salvation for Israel and longing for that to come out of Zion.
- 2:46That's almost prophetic in my the way I read it, because Zion
- 2:50is usually referred to as the future Jerusalem area that where
- 2:57Jesus will reign from. It's Mount Zion and it refers to
- 3:00Jerusalem and it says when the Lord restores his people, let
- 3:04Jacob rejoice in Israel, be glad.
- 3:06I believe that's when Jesus returns, that Israel will be
- 3:10brought to full restoration where their hearts and
- 3:12everything will be changed. So I do think that is another
- 3:16prophetic word from David. So this is a Psalm of David
- 3:20again, and there's a couple other things that kind of got me
- 3:24on a really long path, which I guess I'll just read first what
- 3:29the study Bible says, and then I will get into all the different
- 3:35scripture that came to mind as I read Psalm 14.
- 3:39So is every atheist a fool? Such a person person is foolish
- 3:44in terms of what God has revealed concerning our eternal
- 3:48destiny. We have no hope if we assume
- 3:51there is no God who gives purpose and value to our
- 3:56existence. If such an assumption were
- 3:59accurate, our lives would be subject only to the illusion of
- 4:03random chance. So wasn't there even one who did
- 4:08good? Though David was exaggerating
- 4:11his immediate situation, the Bible does teach clearly that
- 4:15everyone is a Sinner. And that references Romans 323.
- 4:24And I don't know that it's necessarily an exaggeration
- 4:27because this is something I'm going to talk about too.
- 4:30It's there's twice in this Psalm where it says there is no one
- 4:33who does good and then it says there is no one who does good,
- 4:37not even 1. And I don't know that that is an
- 4:42exaggeration. I think that's the truth and
- 4:45Jesus quoted that. So that's what that's what
- 4:47started me getting into all of this.
- 4:49So I've got one more question and answer from the study Bible
- 4:52and then I'll get into that side topic.
- 4:54So how is the dread of the Lord different from the fear of the
- 4:58Lord? Though occasionally used in
- 5:00place of the word fear, the word dread conveys a greater sense of
- 5:05foreboding. The righteous have a fear or an
- 5:09awesome respect for God. The wicked, however, experience
- 5:14dread when they consider God's judgment and wrath.
- 5:18So that's all the study Bible has for this chapter.
- 5:22And then I will get into the the places, all the different places
- 5:27that I went after reading these things.
- 5:31So first it was the quote that Jesus said because he said it
- 5:36twice in Mark and Luke. Mark chapter 10, Luke chapter
- 5:4218, the same thing that was documented by both gospels.
- 5:48Jesus answered, Why do you call me good?
- 5:51Jesus answered, no one is good except God alone.
- 5:57And so here I believe he's really putting it in their faces
- 6:02that He is good, He is the Son of God.
- 6:07And because no one is good, it's only God who is good.
- 6:11Then why are they who are not believers?
- 6:14Why were they calling Him good? And I guess we could put that in
- 6:17context to see what was actually happening here.
- 6:22It was it was about the rich and the Kingdom of God as Jesus.
- 6:26So Mark chapter 10, verse 17. As Jesus started on his way, a
- 6:31man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him.
- 6:36Good teacher. He asked, what must I do to
- 6:40inherit eternal life? So right away he's saying good
- 6:44teacher. And that's when he goes through
- 6:49the response to that. And then in Luke 18, I will look
- 6:52at that and say, in this version of the gospel, it says a certain
- 6:58ruler asked him, good teacher, what must I do to inherit
- 7:04eternal life? And that's when Jesus said, why
- 7:07do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
- 7:12So then it goes into more detail, which I'm not going to
- 7:16cover, but Jesus said that twice that there's no one good but
- 7:21God. And that is repeated in, well,
- 7:29Psalm 14 there. Yeah, there is no one who does
- 7:32good. I mean, it says it multiple
- 7:33times in that. And then in other Psalms it also
- 7:36says the same thing. It's repeated over and over.
- 7:39It says in Psalm 53 one it says there, there the fool says it,
- 7:46gosh, this is repeated again. The fool says in his heart there
- 7:49is no God. They are corrupt and their ways
- 7:52are vile. There is no one who does good.
- 7:56In Psalm 53 verse three, it says everyone has turned away, all
- 8:00have become corrupt. There is no one who does good,
- 8:03not even 1. So it's A and then Romans
- 8:09chapter three, verse 12, this is another verse that says all have
- 8:15turned away. They have together become
- 8:17worthless. There is no one who does good,
- 8:20not even 1. And that if you go back to it,
- 8:26it says as it is written there, there is no one righteous, not
- 8:30even one. There is no one who understands.
- 8:33There is no one who seeks God. And then it just goes on and it
- 8:37talks about how unrighteous I guess everyone is.
- 8:44And so there's multiple times in Scripture and I think, you know,
- 8:47the study Bible also referenced the Romans 323 where it says for
- 8:53all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
- 8:58So basically like sin is, I've heard it explained before.
- 9:04It's like missing the mark. Like basically it says that none
- 9:08of us are perfect. We do not reflect God perfectly.
- 9:13We are were have been made in the image of God, but our
- 9:19character doesn't align with God.
- 9:21We all miss that mark and that's what sin is.
- 9:25But there is a process of restoration that is only through
- 9:29God, through the Son of God, through the Holy Spirit, through
- 9:32the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That is how that restoration is
- 9:36made. And that's what I'm going to
- 9:38probably that's what I will be talking about on the rest of
- 9:41this podcast, how the Bible tells us that that will be, that
- 9:46will be changed with us in us. If we are believers, if we want
- 9:50to, if we choose to believe that Jesus is who he says he is, then
- 9:56we will be changed because we will receive the Holy Spirit and
- 10:01our lives will be changed. And so I'm going to go through
- 10:04how like how that happens or what happens and what the
- 10:08evidence is of that and how you can know for sure that that has
- 10:13happened in your life, because we can find all of that through
- 10:16scripture. And I have so much scripture to
- 10:19talk about. So that's what the the rest of
- 10:22this, the rest of this podcast is going to be about.
- 10:26And, and it's this is meant to, to reflect upon because here's
- 10:33the thing. This is the only reason why I
- 10:35would say anything like this is because we want to be prepared
- 10:41if we happen to be the generation that is alive when
- 10:46Jesus returns, then and it, and it shouldn't be just because if
- 10:52it's that generation, it should just be, you know, for you never
- 10:55know when your last breath is going to be, but just say that
- 11:02there is, there will be a generation someday that is
- 11:04present when Jesus returns. And we need to be prepared.
- 11:09So we need to know what it says in the Bible about these things.
- 11:14And so this, this information should not be taken lightly
- 11:19because if you ignore this information, it says we will
- 11:23still be judged. It says those apart from the law
- 11:26will still be judged by the law. And those are, will be, will
- 11:30still be judged the same way. Even if you just say, OK, I'm
- 11:34ignorant of it, I don't know anything.
- 11:36So then I'm not going to be held accountable for it.
- 11:39The Bible says differently. You are still going to be held
- 11:41accountable for it. So it's important right now to
- 11:47do something about it. Jesus did what we couldn't do by
- 11:51His death on the cross and his resurrection.
- 11:53He overcame the power of the evil one that's affected all of
- 11:59us. That's how sin entered.
- 12:00It entered through Satan all the way back in during the time of
- 12:05Adam and Eve in the Garden when Satan caused Eve to doubt God
- 12:12and then she disobeyed God and included her husband in doing
- 12:16that as well, Adam and then through that then our it's been
- 12:22passed on. I mean what?
- 12:24As soon as that happened, then all of mankind, their all their
- 12:29offspring were destined to death.
- 12:31It's because what it says, the laws are spiritual and we are
- 12:36not spiritual, but the spiritual part of the law says the wages
- 12:42of sin is death. So what we get paid for missing
- 12:47the mark of perfection is death, spiritual death.
- 12:54But that's what Jesus came to give us, spiritual life, and he
- 13:01did what no one can do because no one could be perfect.
- 13:04He was the only one who could be perfect.
- 13:06And God, as part of the laws, a substitute sacrifice was allowed
- 13:12so that a substitute could die. And the substitute was Jesus.
- 13:18He died on the cross for every single person on every single
- 13:21human being on this earth, whether they came before him or
- 13:25after him. And those it, it says that it's,
- 13:30it's the faith of those, those who, you know, they didn't know
- 13:33him if they were, you know, before him, although the
- 13:37prophets did talk about him. But if they had faith in what
- 13:40the prophet said and what was revealed to them at that time,
- 13:44if they had faith, that was counted as righteousness.
- 13:48And Jesus's death covers all the people of the past, all the
- 13:53people today and all the people in the in the future.
- 13:56And and so his death does, but we have to respond to that.
- 14:00Do we believe that's what Jesus did?
- 14:04If we don't believe, and I'm going to get into the scripture
- 14:06that says this, if we don't believe that happened, then we
- 14:08don't have salvation. We're not going to have eternal
- 14:10life. That's why Jesus said I'm the
- 14:13way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father
- 14:17except through me. So when people say, well, I
- 14:20believe in God, I just don't know about Jesus or Jesus
- 14:22wasn't, you know, he was a good man, but and he was a prophet,
- 14:26but he's not the Son of God. When somebody says something
- 14:29like that, then they don't have salvation because Jesus clearly
- 14:35said that it was only through him what he did on the cross no
- 14:39one else could do because no one was perfect.
- 14:41Every human being falls short of the perfection of God.
- 14:47And Jesus was without sin. So it's there's no way around
- 14:54it. And then the other thing that
- 14:55Jesus said in John chapter 3, he said, and I repeat this so many
- 14:59times, but he says that we cannot be in the Kingdom of God
- 15:03unless we are born again, born of the Spirit.
- 15:05We need the Holy Spirit. And Jesus says in Scripture that
- 15:11he requests the Holy Spirit. He receives the Holy Spirit from
- 15:15the Father and then gives it to whomever He desires.
- 15:18So if you don't believe in Him or you deny Him, do you think
- 15:22He's going to give you the Holy Spirit?
- 15:25If you are not truly ready to call Him Lord over your life, do
- 15:31you think He's going to give you the Holy Spirit?
- 15:34Think about this, in the Garden of Eden when they sinned against
- 15:39God, all of a sudden then God put a cherub there with this
- 15:43flashing light or something flashing beam of light to
- 15:46protect the tree of life. Because once somebody sinned, he
- 15:52did, they were forbidden from having the tree of life.
- 15:58And that could all be symbolic, the fruit from the tree of life,
- 16:02that would be like eternal life. And so God was forbidding that
- 16:08no one who sins is going to have eternal life.
- 16:11So once Adam and Eve sinned, that's when he had to put an
- 16:15Angel there to protect the tree of life that they could not eat
- 16:19from that fruit. They chose the tree of knowledge
- 16:23and of good and evil. So they were, you know, that's
- 16:28that. We don't have much more detail
- 16:30than that. And I don't want to get into it
- 16:32because I really don't know. But that's what they chose.
- 16:35They could have chosen the tree of life before they ate from
- 16:38anything, but they didn't. They were deceived by the evil
- 16:43one. OK, and that's a whole nother
- 16:46story that can get really long too.
- 16:48But what I want to talk about is all of us and just that every
- 16:53single person, every single human being has this falling
- 16:58short of being holy like God. None of us are holy like God.
- 17:03I think we can all agree with that.
- 17:04And it's just the what? Maybe the word sin has become so
- 17:08offensive to everybody, but what I understand is that term came
- 17:12from like shooting arrows and missing the bullseye.
- 17:16And that's what that was. That was called sin.
- 17:19And that's what is actually applied to missing the mark.
- 17:23And we are missing the mark, falling short of the holiness of
- 17:26God. We are not as holy as God.
- 17:29And I think everybody can say that's true.
- 17:32So if we can say that's true, then we should be able to say
- 17:34that we are all sinners. We can understand that.
- 17:38When I first was learning about faith things, I didn't
- 17:42understand how a little child could be a Sinner because they
- 17:45didn't really do anything thing. But then the more you look at
- 17:48it, the more you see that oh they are.
- 17:51Because another thing that I've I've noticed after studying
- 17:55longer is that pretty much anything that is selfish is sin
- 18:01where you're putting yourself above other people.
- 18:04Because that's the opposite of what Jesus did.
- 18:06Jesus came as a servant and he expects those who make him, who
- 18:12call him Lord, to also be servants and to others like had
- 18:19that servant, that service attitude towards others.
- 18:23Not in an abused way, because in this world we do have people who
- 18:28are abuse their their power in that way, but in out of love, to
- 18:33serve someone out of love like Jesus did for all of us.
- 18:37So it's important to understand exactly what he was referring to
- 18:40in that way. But if we're selfish and we're
- 18:42only thinking about what's going to benefit us and not be what
- 18:46what's good for other people, if we're not thinking about others
- 18:52and we are only thinking about ourselves, that is pretty an
- 18:57easy way to think about that could very well be sin.
- 19:01So it's something to reflect on and, and we do, we do have the
- 19:08power to overcome sin and we won't be able to do it perfectly
- 19:16because we are still in corrupt mortal bodies, bodies that will
- 19:20die. But inside we, we are being
- 19:24changed by the Holy Spirit. When we, when we receive the
- 19:28Holy Spirit, we are allowing the Holy Spirit to change our lives
- 19:31and our sinful ways will become less and less over time.
- 19:37Now if we are, if we know something is sinful and then we
- 19:41are saying, well, I'm just going to do it anyway, then we are
- 19:48intentionally sinning. And that if, if we're not
- 19:54convicted by that, by the Holy Spirit, then we probably don't
- 19:59have the Holy Spirit. And it's something that we,
- 20:03again, we need to reflect on because if we don't have the
- 20:06Holy Spirit, we can't enter the Kingdom of God.
- 20:08And there are some things that I will read from scripture that
- 20:10talk about how you know, if you have the Holy Spirit.
- 20:13So let's get into the Scripture. I guess the first part that I,
- 20:20I, it was about no one being good.
- 20:24And then I had written about, I guess seeking God, there's
- 20:30seeking God is really something that's important.
- 20:34Back in Deuteronomy 429, it says, but if, if from there you
- 20:38seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with
- 20:42all your heart and with all your soul.
- 20:45So God isn't hiding himself from us.
- 20:47It's just that we tend to not seek God and God wants us to
- 20:52seek him. And it in Psalm 78, it says
- 20:58whenever God slew them, they would seek him.
- 21:02They eagerly turned to him again.
- 21:05Well, that's the way humans operate historically.
- 21:10If some tragedy comes, we seek God.
- 21:14And so if if life is going great for us and we're ignoring what
- 21:19God and we just don't think we need them or life is going along
- 21:22really good, God very well may send some disaster our way so
- 21:30that we turn to him because that's ultimately what God
- 21:32wants. He it says that God punishes,
- 21:36God disciplines. I'm sorry, God disciplines his
- 21:39children, not punishes, but he disciplines his children so that
- 21:43they turn back to him or that they turn to him.
- 21:48And so sometimes he uses disasters and hardships and
- 21:52things like that. He allows the enemy to have
- 21:56access when we have become stubborn and resistant to him
- 22:02calling us. And then Psalm 119 says blessed
- 22:07are those who keep his statutes and seek Him with all their
- 22:11heart. And then in Acts 17 verse 27, it
- 22:16said God did this so they would seek him and perhaps reach out
- 22:20for him and find him, though He is not far from any one of us.
- 22:25And so that just shows that there is there is times that
- 22:32people are far from Him. I was going to read what it
- 22:35said. God did this.
- 22:36It said from one man, he made all the nations that they should
- 22:40inhabit the whole earth and he marked out their appointed times
- 22:44in history and the boundaries of their lands.
- 22:47God did this so they would seek him and perhaps reach out for
- 22:51him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.
- 22:57So there's, I don't know, there's a lot the God who made
- 23:03the world and everything in it is the Lord of the heaven and
- 23:06earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.
- 23:10And he is not served by human hands as if he needed anything.
- 23:14Rather he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything
- 23:18else. So it's just talking about
- 23:21that's in Acts 17. If you want to meet, read more
- 23:25in Hebrews 11/6. It says and without faith, it is
- 23:30impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must
- 23:34believe that he exists and he and he rewards those who
- 23:40earnestly seek him. So there's a benefit to seeking
- 23:45God. He, you, you must believe that
- 23:48he exists. That's one.
- 23:49And that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
- 23:54So it's a good thing to seek God.
- 23:56God is a good father. And so the the other thing that
- 24:00we have to remember that since the beginning of the Garden of
- 24:05Eden, when Adam and Eve, the original humans that God created
- 24:13when they sinned and they turned against God, that just affected
- 24:18the entire population thereafter.
- 24:21And so here's what Jesus said about sin.
- 24:25Jesus replied very truly. I tell you, everyone who sins is
- 24:31a slave to sin. So that's kind of, you know,
- 24:36people don't like civil, don't like slavery, but what they
- 24:41don't know or what maybe it's just like Jesus is the wisest
- 24:46person. Jesus is the Son of God.
- 24:48He knows everything and and listen to what he's saying.
- 24:51He's saying truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to
- 24:58sin, a slave. When you're a slave, you are
- 25:04under the control of someone else.
- 25:08If you are a slave to evil, to sin, to missing the mark, you're
- 25:13a slave to that. That means you're under the
- 25:15control of someone else. It says that Satan is the ruler
- 25:20of the air and he is on earth and he's doing these things.
- 25:23He's the one who entered, who brought sin into the picture.
- 25:28He introduced it. I guess Eve is responsible for,
- 25:32you know, proceeding with it. But Satan or the serpent, if you
- 25:36would, whatever you want to call him, he was the one who kind of
- 25:40put it in their heads and their thoughts.
- 25:42So it's likely that it's him or his alliances who are who have
- 25:49the slavery over people. And then Romans 714 says we know
- 25:55that the law is spiritual, but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave
- 26:02to sin. So until we have those that that
- 26:10bondage broken away from sin, we are slaves to it and it will
- 26:17just cause us to have a spiritual death, a spiritual
- 26:22eternal separation from God. And and that's a spiritual
- 26:27matter that we don't really have a lot of information about, I
- 26:31guess, because we only know what the Bible shares with us.
- 26:38So let's see, I've read that already and let's see there's I
- 26:45don't, OK, I'm jumping around here.
- 26:47Let's see, John, John 8, 34 is what I had here.
- 26:57John 834, Jesus, yeah, yeah, that was the verse.
- 27:02Jesus replied very truly. I tell you, everyone who sins is
- 27:05a slave to sin. And then there's another verse
- 27:08that I had here. Oh, this is in John 8 verse 7
- 27:14where it says when they kept on questioning him this they were
- 27:19questioning Jesus, He straightened up and said to
- 27:21them, let any one of you who is without sin be the first to
- 27:26throw a stone at her. So what happened after this was
- 27:30that everyone went away because everyone knew that they were not
- 27:35without sin. And then in first John one verse
- 27:408, it says if we claim to be without sin, we deceive
- 27:45ourselves and the truth is not in us, so everybody does have
- 27:51it. And then it says if we confess
- 27:53our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our
- 27:58sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
- 28:04If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and
- 28:09His word is not in us. So we have to come to grips with
- 28:14the fact that we are sinners and that by our own power we will
- 28:20not overcome it. Because Scripture tells us that
- 28:23we cannot fully 100% overcome it.
- 28:28We cannot be as holy as God. There's just no way, I don't
- 28:33know that anybody could say that they are as holy as God and they
- 28:37have no sin. And it says if they do, they're
- 28:40saying they're lying about it. So if we can't do it on our own.
- 28:45And in other verses, I brought this up before where God marks
- 28:49out holy things and he tell, he warns people, you cannot touch
- 28:53it. You cannot step on this
- 28:54mountain. You can't touch this area.
- 28:56You can't touch the Ark of the covenant or you will die because
- 28:59it's holy. So for some reason, and I think
- 29:03it's just that in the holiness, like holiness cannot be around
- 29:08sin. And I also think that that this
- 29:12is my own speculation, that in the book of Genesis, it talked
- 29:16about God walking in the garden and calling for Adam and Eve.
- 29:21So God was present walking in the garden.
- 29:23That may have been Jesus, since God is Spirit.
- 29:28And so if there's walking in the garden, then perhaps it was
- 29:31Jesus another topic too. But anyway.
- 29:37But then after sin entered, then there God's presence was gone.
- 29:48And it was gone for a very long time until Jesus came with a
- 29:52purpose to die on the cross and break the curse of sin, the
- 29:58curse of death as a result of sin.
- 30:02And, and so maybe that's what God did to protect all of us.
- 30:08And then when he was on the mountain with Moses, he called
- 30:13Moses and he purified Moses or made him prepared so that he
- 30:19would be protected. But he said, don't let anybody
- 30:21else come near this mountain. And I, I'm just speculating that
- 30:26maybe because, because he said it was holy that somebody would
- 30:30die. And I think he did say that if
- 30:32anybody touched it, they would die.
- 30:34And I think that's part of the spiritual law that unholy things
- 30:39cannot be in the presence of God.
- 30:42And that may be how in the very, very end, when all of these
- 30:46nations, like I'm going back after the thousand year reign of
- 30:50Christ, like at the final judgement, how the people on
- 30:54earth or that rebel against God are finally destroyed.
- 30:58They they all get together to fight God.
- 31:02But then I think it's like with the breath of his mouth, every,
- 31:06you know, everything's gone. Like there is no literal fight.
- 31:10Like it's just over. Probably because God comes, His
- 31:14presence is there, and presence, His presence cannot be in the
- 31:19same place as unholy things or they will just be destroyed.
- 31:24And I just wonder if that's how that happens, just because
- 31:28that's a spiritual law, and that spiritual law has always been
- 31:30present, but we just don't quite comprehend it.
- 31:34It's a thought and supported by different parts of Scripture
- 31:39when you think about things. So sin is something we have to
- 31:43get out of our life, but we can't do it on our own.
- 31:46We need the Holy Spirit to do that.
- 31:49Now. It says that like in Christ, in
- 31:52him that we are, I guess, saved when we are in him in Christ.
- 32:02And I started doing a a study. Well, I guess it's a study about
- 32:10that, about being in Christ and how that just knowing, knowing
- 32:18what that means. And I don't know, like I said, I
- 32:21had so many different things. OK, so in Christ Romans 611, it
- 32:30says in the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive
- 32:36to God in Christ Jesus. So Jesus brings us life and
- 32:43count ourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
- 32:49So in Christ Jesus is really important.
- 32:53Romans 623 For the wages of sin is death.
- 32:57What we get paid for our sin is death, but the gift of God is
- 33:05eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 33:09So what it means to be in Christ Jesus our Lord is important
- 33:14because that's where eternal life is.
- 33:17Romans 81 says, therefore there is now no condemnation for those
- 33:23who are in Christ Jesus. So if you're in Christ Jesus,
- 33:28there is no condemnation. You are not condemned to eternal
- 33:32separation from God. Now.
- 33:35Romans 839 says neither height nor depth nor anything else in
- 33:40all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God
- 33:46that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 33:50So when we are in Christ Jesus, there is nothing that can
- 33:56separate us from the love of God like God loves us.
- 34:01I mean that's there's nothing that can separate us from the
- 34:04love that it's in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 34:09Romans 91 I speak the truth in Christ.
- 34:13I am not lying. My conscience confirms it
- 34:17through the Holy Spirit. I think the Holy Spirit is
- 34:20really significant in our lives. That's kind of the I mean,
- 34:23that's who we need to guide us when we believe, we can ask
- 34:29Jesus and I don't know that we necessarily have to ask him, but
- 34:34that's what we know. That's where the Holy Spirit
- 34:37comes from the Father through Jesus.
- 34:41If we don't know if we have the Holy Spirit and we really
- 34:44believe, it says that when we believe, Jesus will send us the
- 34:49Holy Spirit. But believe is another word that
- 34:52I searched that I think also gets distorted.
- 34:58One verse that comes to mind that you know, people will just
- 35:01say, well, all you have to do is believe.
- 35:03But there's one verse that really clarifies or or kind of
- 35:08gets you on that one. It's like you say that you
- 35:11believe good. Even the demons believe and
- 35:14shudder. So the demons believe who he is,
- 35:18but that he's not going to be Lord over their lives.
- 35:21So they believe, but that doesn't mean that they are going
- 35:25to be saved. And so getting into scripture
- 35:29and really looking at what it says is so important to
- 35:35thoroughly understand it. Romans 12/5 South In Christ we
- 35:40though many form 1 body and each member belongs to all the
- 35:45others. There is this like unison that
- 35:48happens with people who are in Christ and I believe it's the
- 35:54Holy Spirit that creates that. And I believe that's what Jesus
- 35:58was praying to the Father. And I will read that at some
- 36:01point too, because I know that was in the scripture that I
- 36:03found was that Jesus said he prayed to the Father and said
- 36:06Father, make them one as we are one.
- 36:09And I believe the Father and the Son are one in spirit.
- 36:12And Jesus said, you know, if you've seen whatever I do, I'm
- 36:15not doing it on my own. I'm doing it because the Father
- 36:17tells me. And it's just like they are in
- 36:20complete unison in a complete in, in agreement through the
- 36:26Spirit, the shared spirit. And that's how they are won by
- 36:29the shared spirit, the Spirit of God.
- 36:32And that's the only way that I can comprehend it at this point
- 36:38through Scripture. So first Corinthians one, verse
- 36:422 to the Church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in
- 36:48Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with
- 36:53all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus
- 36:56Christ their Lord and ours. So one thing that I noticed
- 37:00about this, it says to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and
- 37:05called to be his holy people, sanctification, holy people.
- 37:11God says be holy because I am holy.
- 37:14So that's something that happens to people who are in Christ.
- 37:20It is because of him that you are in Christ.
- 37:23This is talking referring to God.
- 37:25It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus who has
- 37:28become for us wisdom from God. That is our righteousness,
- 37:36holiness and redemption. So this comes through Christ,
- 37:42our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
- 37:48So that's another thing. If you are in Christ, there's
- 37:52you're going to see the righteousness holiness coming
- 37:56from Jesus in us like he prayed to the Father to make them one
- 38:03with us are you know 1 is we are one when he was speaking to the
- 38:07Father and in one Corinthians chapter 4 verse 17.
- 38:12For this we reason I have sent you Timothy, my son, whom I love
- 38:17who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of
- 38:22life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach
- 38:26everywhere in every church. So Paul is using himself as an
- 38:29example and saying my way of life in Christ.
- 38:33So he is giving people the example of this is how you live
- 38:36in Christ. And 1st Corinthians 15 verse 22
- 38:40says for as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made
- 38:47alive. So as people, as human beings,
- 38:51we are all subject to death, but in Christ all of us will be made
- 38:56alive. So it's important to to be in
- 39:00Christ. 2nd Corinthians one verse 21.
- 39:05Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.
- 39:11He anointed us. So pay attention to this.
- 39:16It is God who makes us stand firm in Christ.
- 39:21Stand firm. It says, you know, like at the
- 39:23end that you can stand firm in Christ.
- 39:27Well, it's God that means that we receive the Holy Spirit.
- 39:30The power comes from God is not on our own power that we become
- 39:35righteous or that we become holy.
- 39:37If we try to do it on our own, it's not going to work.
- 39:40We need God. We need the Holy Spirit.
- 39:42Scripture says this over and over in ways that might be vague
- 39:46to us, but when you study it, it's really clear it this comes
- 39:51through God, and God will make you make us.
- 39:55When we submit to Him as our Lord, and we want the Holy
- 40:00Spirit, He will prepare us to be able to stand firm.
- 40:05It is through His power, not ours. 2nd Corinthians 3, verse
- 40:1014. But their minds were made dull.
- 40:13For to this day, the same veil remains when the old Covenant is
- 40:17read. It has not been removed because
- 40:20only in Christ is it taken away. This is referring to the Jewish
- 40:25people, I believe, and they have a veil.
- 40:30That's how it's described. I guess metaphorically that they
- 40:34it hasn't been removed because only when they believe in Christ
- 40:38is it taken away. So they are not seeing it.
- 40:42They are even reading scripture that shows Jesus in the Old
- 40:47Testament, but they are not seeing it because of this veil.
- 40:54In 2nd Corinthians 5 verse 17, it says, therefore, if anyone is
- 40:59in Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone, and the
- 41:05new is here. This implies that there is a
- 41:08change in a person if you are in Christ.
- 41:11There's a before and an after. The before is full of sin.
- 41:18The after becomes more holy and holy, a little bit holier.
- 41:23It's more in the image of God, never perfect because we're
- 41:26still humans, we still have mortal bodies, we're still
- 41:29subject to sin. But over time things change.
- 41:35And it usually is a gradual process.
- 41:38For some people, it does happen rather quickly.
- 41:41But then I know many people where it's taken a long time and
- 41:45they are like, I guess baby Christians.
- 41:48And it doesn't happen instantaneously because little
- 41:51by little, I guess God is so patient with us that he lets us,
- 41:56you know, gradually submit to him on things.
- 42:03Some things we hang on to. And he's really patient with us
- 42:06when we don't want to give up something.
- 42:09And but he's there just like calling us and calling us.
- 42:14And I mean, I, I look back on my life and I know that God was
- 42:19probably calling me and calling me and I was resisting and
- 42:22resisting. And, and then finally I was
- 42:26like, OK, I will, I'll, I'll do it.
- 42:29You know, I'll submit, I'll stop hanging on to things that I
- 42:32shouldn't be hanging on to. And, and that, you know, that
- 42:37thank God that he is patient. We are not as patient as God.
- 42:42So thank God, God is who he is. But then there's also a time
- 42:46where when we have this like stubbornness to God and this
- 42:49what they call like a stiff necked attitude, stubbornness
- 42:52where God just says, OK, you can have what you want.
- 42:56And then he turns you over to your desires.
- 43:01He lets you have your free will. And that I didn't want to have
- 43:07happen to me. After I read the Bible and I saw
- 43:09that God did that to some people, I thought, how many more
- 43:13chances is God going to give me? Because I know looking back that
- 43:17He gave me chances and I was stubborn, so I didn't want to
- 43:22test God. I didn't want to see, well, how
- 43:24much more time do I get? How many more times can I be
- 43:27rebellious and let you be patient?
- 43:29That's not a good place to be. Because I think that, I mean,
- 43:34that's dangerous territory. I mean, that's where you have
- 43:36the fear of God, where the fear of his, his awesome reverence
- 43:44that you have for him that are you going to test him?
- 43:48Do you want to see his power? Do you want to see what he can
- 43:51do? I don't, I don't.
- 43:54Not in that way, not in wrath. I certainly don't.
- 43:57So anyway, Galatians 216 know that a person is not justified
- 44:04by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
- 44:09So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be
- 44:14justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because
- 44:19by works of the law no one will be justified.
- 44:23So again, this says that we cannot do this on our own.
- 44:29There's, there's nothing we can do to make ourselves holy.
- 44:33We can, but it's we need the power of God, we need the Holy
- 44:38Spirit to do it and and it's, it's having faith in Christ, we
- 44:44receive the Holy Spirit through Christ.
- 44:46So when we have faith in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit and
- 44:50that's when things can truly begin to change for good for
- 44:55permanent that way. So Galatians 3 verse 26 says, so
- 45:01in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
- 45:06So through our faith we become children of God, brothers and
- 45:11sisters to Jesus, and we also will receive the inheritance of
- 45:16God's Kingdom through this. So it's amazing what God is
- 45:22offering us to become his children.
- 45:25He created us, but doesn't mean that we all, you know, want to
- 45:30be his children. The door is open, but we have to
- 45:34go through Jesus. Galatians 328.
- 45:39There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free,
- 45:43nor is there male or female, for you all are one in Christ Jesus.
- 45:49So it's just like we're all brothers and sisters.
- 45:51It doesn't matter if we're Jew, if we're Gentile, you know,
- 45:54whatever people are, we are all going to be brothers and
- 45:59sisters. It doesn't matter race.
- 46:02There's the Bible is not racist at all.
- 46:05It is it is very it's very inclusive of those who choose to
- 46:14be in Christ. That's what I should say.
- 46:19So Galatians 5 verse 6 for in Christ Jesus, neither for in
- 46:26Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision
- 46:29has any value. The only thing that counts is
- 46:33faith expressing itself through love.
- 46:37So I think most people like that statement that until you really
- 46:41get to know what love means, but everybody likes the love part of
- 46:46it because love is has is is ultimately selflessness,
- 46:54submission to another, having a servant attitude and towards
- 46:58God. Love is obeying his
- 47:00commandments. So we can't get away from that
- 47:03obedience to his commandments. We don't get anything.
- 47:07What we're doing is we're giving something.
- 47:10When we obey, we are showing God that we love Him.
- 47:15We are giving God something that he sees that we love him.
- 47:18I mean it says, if he says, if you love me, you will obey my
- 47:21commands. Ephesians one, verse 9.
- 47:25He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his
- 47:29good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ.
- 47:33So the mystery of God's will was according to his good pleasure,
- 47:39he purposed in Christ. Ephesians one verse 13 and you
- 47:47also were included in Christ when you heard the message of
- 47:51truth, the gospel, the good news of your salvation, when you
- 47:57believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy
- 48:04Spirit. So when we believe, and so it's
- 48:08really important to know what believe means.
- 48:10You were marked in him. So we we get a a mark or a seal,
- 48:15and that mark or seal is the promised Holy Spirit.
- 48:19So when we believe, that's when it comes.
- 48:21But we need to know what believe means because it also says in
- 48:24Scripture that the demons believe and shudder.
- 48:28So it's not the same belief as what the demons have.
- 48:33There's a belief that we have to, you know, believe who he is.
- 48:38I, like I said, I'll get into that a little bit more from
- 48:40Scripture, not my own words. So Ephesians 2, verse 10.
- 48:44For we are God's handiwork. God created us, He create.
- 48:48Let's see. For we are God's handiwork,
- 48:50created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared
- 48:55in advance for us to do. So here He did prepare us to do
- 49:00good works, but it's not how we get salvation.
- 49:04But He makes us for a purpose and we are created in Christ, in
- 49:09Christ. God has a purpose in Christ
- 49:12Jesus to do good works. So that's what our purpose is.
- 49:18And it says which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- 49:22So every person has something that God wants us to do, but we
- 49:27probably have to seek God to find out what it is because it's
- 49:29different for every person. Ephesians 213 But now in Christ
- 49:37Jesus, you who were once far away have been brought near by
- 49:42the blood of Christ. Now this whole thing about blood
- 49:46is. You can learn more about that in
- 49:48Hebrews. It says without the shedding of
- 49:51blood, there is no forgiveness for sins.
- 49:54So that's why that is so important.
- 49:56That's why we have that forgiveness, because Jesus was
- 50:01the perfect lamb, symbolically the perfect human, not human Son
- 50:07of God, but in human form. And he was put to death on the
- 50:11cross. And his blood that was shed,
- 50:14that came from him on the cross is what gives us the
- 50:19forgiveness, the atonement for our sin.
- 50:22That's what broke the curse, the spiritual law associated with
- 50:27the curse. That's what broke it on the
- 50:29cross, so that we can be in God's Kingdom.
- 50:34Ephesians 36. The mystery is that through the
- 50:36gospel the Gentiles are errors together with Israel.
- 50:41So now you have the Gentiles and Israel, both errors, HEIRS,
- 50:48members together of 1 body and sharers together in the promise
- 50:55in Christ Jesus. So this salvation is for
- 50:59everyone, for all nations. But we have to believe in Christ
- 51:04Jesus, in Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God, Ephesians 311
- 51:10according to His eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ
- 51:15Jesus our Lord. So God had this eternal purpose
- 51:20with Jesus and his death on the cross.
- 51:24And that's the way he overcome. He overcame death.
- 51:28That's the way he overcame the the law that was going to have
- 51:35all of us spiritually severed from God forever.
- 51:39If Jesus hadn't died on the cross, that's what that's where
- 51:42we would be. So then here's the next
- 51:45continuing on in Christ, Ephesians 432.
- 51:49Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,
- 51:52just as in Christ God forgave you.
- 51:56When we are in Christ, God Forgives us because we are
- 52:01covered by His blood, the blood he shed on the cross, the
- 52:04atonement for our sins. Then in I guess it's Philippians
- 52:093 verse 3. For it is we who are the
- 52:12circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in
- 52:19Christ Jesus and who put no confidence in the flesh.
- 52:23There's a lot there. So it is we who serve God by His
- 52:30Spirit, the Holy Spirit. The only way we can boast is in
- 52:35Christ Jesus. We have no confidence in our own
- 52:38flesh. Philippians 39 and be found in
- 52:45him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the
- 52:49law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the
- 52:55righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
- 53:01We have the righteousness from God through Christ, through
- 53:07through our belief, through US believing.
- 53:09Philippians 314. I press on toward the goal to
- 53:13win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ
- 53:18Jesus. So I've noticed that Paul is
- 53:22very reward based and he's got this marathon that he's he's
- 53:27working towards this marathon and he's talking about the
- 53:29rewards that he's going to get and he's running the race to
- 53:33finish it and to get the rewards.
- 53:37So here he's like, I press onward toward the goal to win
- 53:41the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ
- 53:48Jesus. So Paul recognized his calling
- 53:52and he's working on his goal to win that prize.
- 53:55So he knows there is a reward for all the things that he did
- 54:00and he shares that with us. So I don't know what those
- 54:03rewards are, but I think there are some, like there's crowns
- 54:08and things, but I don't really know what all of that means.
- 54:11So Colossians one verse 28, He is the one we proclaim
- 54:15admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom so that
- 54:18we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
- 54:24So the goal is to become fully mature.
- 54:27So we do some there are when we first come to believe when we're
- 54:32I call baby Christians and Paul kind of does too when he talks
- 54:36about people having milk and not meat yet that they're baby
- 54:42Christians are infants. He calls them when they're just
- 54:46starting out, they're still going to be more sin in
- 54:49somebody's lives. And so that's why as anyone who
- 54:52calls themselves a Christian, if you are a longer time Christian,
- 54:57a true Christian who lives in obedience to Christ, the new
- 55:02Christians, don't be so critical of them because it takes time to
- 55:10understand everything that's in the Bible.
- 55:12And God is patient. And don't turn them away from
- 55:17Christianity by being harsh on them because God will speak to
- 55:22them, the Holy Spirit will speak to them and convict them of
- 55:26things that may not be perfect in their lives.
- 55:29But if they're on that path, encourage them, rather than
- 55:34criticizing them of what they're not doing right, encourage them
- 55:39to do what is right and encourage them with, with
- 55:42Scripture because there, there are rewards for it.
- 55:46But the goal is to become fully mature.
- 55:48But it doesn't happen overnight. Just like we grow up, we're
- 55:52immature until we get to be mature.
- 55:55And that doesn't always depend on age.
- 55:57So there are some young people who are more mature than some
- 56:00old people. And it's, it's just a maturity.
- 56:05Colossians 2 verse 5 for though I am absent from you in body, I
- 56:10am present with you in spirit and delight to see how
- 56:13disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
- 56:19So then Colossians 29 for in Christ all the fullness of the
- 56:26deity lives in bodily form. That's really powerful if you
- 56:33think about it, if you are in Christ, all the fullness of the
- 56:39deity lives in bodily form is, I mean, that is God working in a
- 56:47person that is powerful. There is no greater power than
- 56:52that. And that's something that I
- 56:54think Christians may not realize.
- 56:57When we have the Holy Spirit, we have the Spirit of God inside of
- 57:01us, and that power is God's power, being able.
- 57:06I mean, God can do anything he wants, but God can work through
- 57:09us like a vessel, like God can do things through us, through
- 57:15us, with our faith, through the Holy Spirit.
- 57:17It's all through the power of God.
- 57:20But that's very significant. I mean, when you really think
- 57:23about that, the fullness of the deity lives in a person who is
- 57:27in Christ, Colossians 2 verse 10 and in Christ you have been
- 57:33brought to fullness. He is the head over every power
- 57:37and authority. So that's another good point is
- 57:40that we may have the, you know, the power of the Holy Spirit,
- 57:44but we are not our own little G gods.
- 57:48We are not our own. We don't operate under our own
- 57:51authority. We are guided by the Holy
- 57:54Spirit. We are submitted to Christ.
- 57:57He is the head and we are the the rest of the body, but Jesus
- 58:03is the head. And that's something that is
- 58:07important for us to know that when all that power comes to us,
- 58:12it is Jesus who is is, you know, has that control of what he of
- 58:19that, of that power. It's, it's through God.
- 58:22So if we're not going to be good stewards of that power, we're
- 58:27probably not going to have the power because God's not going to
- 58:29put the power in the hand of an evil person like that.
- 58:35So First Thessalonians 4 verse 16 For the Lord himself will
- 58:41come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of
- 58:45the Archangel, and with the trumpet call, and the dead in
- 58:49Christ will rise first. So the people who died, but they
- 58:55were in Christ, they are, when Jesus returns, they will rise
- 58:58first. So being in Christ is really
- 59:01important if you want to resurrect and be in the Kingdom
- 59:04of God, if you want to have an immortal body, you need to be in
- 59:07Christ, you need to have the Holy Spirit.
- 59:10So it's important to know what in Christ means to Timothy 19.
- 59:15He has saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of
- 59:20anything we have done, but because of His own, His own
- 59:24purpose and grace. The this grace was given us in
- 59:31Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
- 59:38To Timothy 21 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is
- 59:45in Christ Jesus. This is a good one, because
- 59:49grace is not something that grace is not being weak.
- 59:56Grace is being strong. Grace is like power.
- 1:00:00It's the power of the Holy Spirit.
- 1:00:02It's the power of God. Is this power of the whole?
- 1:00:06Of the Spirit of God that is in Christ.
- 1:00:10So here Paul is saying you then, my son, be strong in the grace
- 1:00:16that is in Christ Jesus. Not our own strength, but it's
- 1:00:20the strength from the grace that is given to us by God.
- 1:00:26Second Timothy 2, verse 10. Therefore I endure everything
- 1:00:30for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the
- 1:00:34salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory to
- 1:00:40Timothy 312. In fact, everyone who wants to
- 1:00:43live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
- 1:00:47So this kind of tells us that if we want to live a godly life in
- 1:00:52Christ Jesus, be persecuted in some way, maybe by others, maybe
- 1:00:57by people making fun of the way that you live.
- 1:00:59Oh, you're extreme or something like that.
- 1:01:01But if you want to, it says that you will be persecuted.
- 1:01:05It's like to count your cost. Just know what you're getting
- 1:01:08into or just get into it anyway because it has more benefits
- 1:01:11than downsides. But second Timothy 3:15 and how
- 1:01:15from infancy. So here's where he's talking
- 1:01:17about those infants. Again, you have known the Holy
- 1:01:20Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation
- 1:01:27through faith in Christ Jesus. So we get OK from infancy.
- 1:01:37You have known the Holy Scriptures, so we get wisdom
- 1:01:39from the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise.
- 1:01:45You know, that's the seek wisdom.
- 1:01:47Above all else, seek wisdom for salvation through faith in
- 1:01:53Christ Jesus first, Peter 316 keeping a clear conscience so
- 1:01:59that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in
- 1:02:03Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
- 1:02:06So again, there's this is another characteristic when
- 1:02:10you're in Christ, good behavior, good behavior in Christ.
- 1:02:14First Peter 510 and the God of all grace who called you to his
- 1:02:19eternal glory in Christ after you have suffered a little
- 1:02:22while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and
- 1:02:27steadfast. So we do have suffering, and it
- 1:02:31says, and the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal
- 1:02:36glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will
- 1:02:42himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.
- 1:02:52And I wanted to read a little bit more about life through the
- 1:02:58Spirit, since the Holy Spirit is so important to understand.
- 1:03:02It says, therefore there is now no condemnation for those who
- 1:03:08are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of
- 1:03:14the Spirit who gives you life, has set you free from the law of
- 1:03:21sin and death. So we get life instead of death.
- 1:03:25For what the Law was powerless to do because it was weakened by
- 1:03:29the flesh, God did, by sending His own Son in the likeness of
- 1:03:34sinful flesh to be a sin offering.
- 1:03:36And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the
- 1:03:40righteous requirement of the Law might be fully met in US who do
- 1:03:46not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
- 1:03:52So the righteous requirement of the Law might be met in US who
- 1:03:56do not live according to the flesh, but according to the
- 1:04:00Spirit. So it was through Jesus's death
- 1:04:06on the cross. And then it says in order that
- 1:04:11the righteous requirement of the law might be fully and met in
- 1:04:16US, and it says us is clarified who do not live according to the
- 1:04:22flesh, but according to the Spirit.
- 1:04:25It's important to know, OK, who's living according to the
- 1:04:29Spirit? Who's living according to the
- 1:04:30flesh? What does that mean?
- 1:04:32Well, it just tells us. Then those who live according to
- 1:04:35the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires.
- 1:04:41But those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds
- 1:04:44set on what the Spirit desires. So that doesn't really explain
- 1:04:48it, but the next verse does. The mind governed by the flesh
- 1:04:53is death. So it's telling you if you're,
- 1:04:55if you're in a fleshly life, you're that's death.
- 1:04:58But the mind governed are controlled or guided by the
- 1:05:02Spirit is life and peace. So we can see that if we are
- 1:05:07letting the Holy Spirit guide us, we will be receiving eternal
- 1:05:12life and we will also have peace.
- 1:05:16The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God.
- 1:05:20So if you have people who are angry at God, their mind is
- 1:05:24governed by the flesh. It's not governed by the Spirit.
- 1:05:28Their mind does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
- 1:05:34So if your mind is still, that's why reading Scripture, that
- 1:05:37starts changing the way we think.
- 1:05:39And if we're not reading Scripture, our mind is not being
- 1:05:44changed. And it's, I mean, I don't know,
- 1:05:49it's not like it's, it's just changing us as we're reading
- 1:05:52truth. And then we are having, we are
- 1:05:55faced with that decision if we accept it or not.
- 1:05:58And if we don't accept it, we are hostile to God.
- 1:06:02If we accept it, then we are welcoming what God says in his
- 1:06:07law. So those who are in the realm of
- 1:06:11the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the
- 1:06:16realm of the flesh, but are in the realm of the Spirit.
- 1:06:19If if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you, so does this Holy
- 1:06:27Spirit live in you. And if anyone does not have the
- 1:06:34Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
- 1:06:39So again, the Holy Spirit is so important.
- 1:06:44Do you have the Holy Spirit? Is your mind governed by the
- 1:06:49flesh or is your mind governed by the Holy Spirit?
- 1:06:53Do you have peace? If you don't have peace in your
- 1:06:55life, you might want to think about this.
- 1:06:59But if in Christ, if. But if Christ is in you, then
- 1:07:04even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the
- 1:07:09Spirit gives life because of righteousness, just like Jesus
- 1:07:14rose from the dead. I added that just like Jesus
- 1:07:17rose from the dead, OK, the verse 11 And if the Spirit of
- 1:07:21him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, so the
- 1:07:27Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.
- 1:07:33He God who raised Christ or the Spirit who raised Christ from
- 1:07:39the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of
- 1:07:45his Spirit who lives in you. That's again why we need the
- 1:07:51Holy Spirit. If we don't have the Holy
- 1:07:52Spirit, we are not going to resurrect to eternal life.
- 1:07:58Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation, but is
- 1:08:01not the flesh to live according to it.
- 1:08:05For if you live according to the flesh, you will die.
- 1:08:10But if you by the if you by the spirit, you put to death the
- 1:08:16misdeeds of the body, you will live.
- 1:08:18So the Holy Spirit is how we get the power to overcome the sin.
- 1:08:24So we put to death the quote misdeeds of the body, the bad
- 1:08:30things we put to, I mean that'll be put to death by the Spirit.
- 1:08:34For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children
- 1:08:39of God. That's how we become children of
- 1:08:41God once we have the Holy Spirit.
- 1:08:44The Spirit you received does not make you slaves so that you live
- 1:08:49in fear again. Rather the Spirit you received
- 1:08:53brought about your adoption to sonship.
- 1:08:56And by him we cry, ABBA, Father, the Spirit himself testifies
- 1:09:02with our spirit that we are God's children.
- 1:09:07So then it says, now if we are children, then we are heirs,
- 1:09:11heirs of God and Co heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in
- 1:09:17his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
- 1:09:23So those are some powerful things about becoming a child of
- 1:09:28God and inheriting the Kingdom of God with Jesus as a cohere
- 1:09:36with us. Then it says, let's see verse
- 1:09:4026. In the same way, the Spirit
- 1:09:42helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to
- 1:09:47pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through
- 1:09:50wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts
- 1:09:54knows the the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit
- 1:09:59intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.
- 1:10:05That's important to think about too.
- 1:10:06It's the will of God. It it might not be what we want
- 1:10:11or what we set our desires on, but the will of God.
- 1:10:16The Spirit knows what the will of God is, and that He will
- 1:10:20guide us. It He searches our hearts, And
- 1:10:23he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because
- 1:10:29the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the
- 1:10:32will of God. And we know that in all things
- 1:10:36God works for the good of those who love Him who have been
- 1:10:42called according to His purpose. And remember, those who love Him
- 1:10:48are those who keep His commands, and also those who have been
- 1:10:52called to His purpose. So He has a purpose for
- 1:10:55everyone. In verse 37 it says in all these
- 1:11:00no and all these things we are more than conquerors through him
- 1:11:05who loved us. So we can conquer things by the
- 1:11:08Holy Spirit. And in verse 39, it says neither
- 1:11:13height nor depth nor anything else in all creation will be
- 1:11:16able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
- 1:11:21Jesus our Lord. So there's no power that's going
- 1:11:26to be able to separate us in when we are in Christ from God.
- 1:11:34And then Christ crucified is God's power and wisdom.
- 1:11:41So there's another thing that his crucifixion is actually,
- 1:11:45well, what he did. The result of his crucifixion is
- 1:11:50God's power and wisdom. So I'll read that a little bit
- 1:11:54from this chapter and I didn't get what book this was from.
- 1:11:59So for the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are
- 1:12:04perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of
- 1:12:09God. That's where we see God's power
- 1:12:12on the cross and Jesus's resurrection.
- 1:12:17For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did
- 1:12:22not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what
- 1:12:26was preached to save those who believe.
- 1:12:31Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach
- 1:12:37Christ crucified, A stumbling block to the Jews and
- 1:12:42foolishness to Gentiles. But to those whom God is called
- 1:12:46both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the Christ the
- 1:12:53power of God and the wisdom of God.
- 1:12:56So that's where it's saying that Christ is the power of God and
- 1:13:01the wisdom of God, and others who don't believe think it's
- 1:13:06foolish. They look for signs, they look
- 1:13:09for wisdom, but they just don't see it in the crucifixion.
- 1:13:15They don't get what it's all about.
- 1:13:19For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the
- 1:13:24weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
- 1:13:29I always love this verse too because it says also in
- 1:13:33scripture that we we need to become like children to inherit
- 1:13:36the Kingdom of God and that you know, that sense of not knowing
- 1:13:40humbling ourselves. I think humbling is such a an
- 1:13:43important aspect of faith. So but God chose the foolish
- 1:13:49things of the world to shame the wise.
- 1:13:54God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
- 1:13:59God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised
- 1:14:03things and the things that are not to nullify the things that
- 1:14:06are so that no one may boast before him.
- 1:14:11It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has
- 1:14:15become for us wisdom from God. That is our righteousness,
- 1:14:20holiness and redemption. We read that before.
- 1:14:26Now here's another part where Paul in first Corinthians 3, he
- 1:14:31talks about living by the Spirit and also infants in Christ.
- 1:14:38So he addresses the in in first Corinthians chapter 3, he says,
- 1:14:44brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who
- 1:14:47live by the Spirit, but as people who are still worldly
- 1:14:53mere infants in Christ. So I think this is important for
- 1:14:56Christian, for seasoned Christians, Christians who have
- 1:15:01been a a Christian for a long time and live by it.
- 1:15:05When they see people who are new Christians and they aren't doing
- 1:15:08everything perfectly. Paul is a little bit kinder
- 1:15:13about it. He says they're mere infants in
- 1:15:15Christ. They're baby Christians.
- 1:15:17They haven't quite matured yet. But don't criticize them.
- 1:15:24Help them grow. It's a transition to come out of
- 1:15:30sin, and people need encouragement and support to do
- 1:15:35that. So Paul says I gave you milk,
- 1:15:39not solid food. He's going on this infant
- 1:15:42analogy for you were not ready for it.
- 1:15:47Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly for since
- 1:15:53there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly?
- 1:15:57Are you not acting like mere humans?
- 1:16:00So we're seeing here from Paul that jealousy and quarreling are
- 1:16:04examples of being an infant in Christ.
- 1:16:08So if you are a seasoned person in Christ and you see jealousy,
- 1:16:13you see quarreling, just realize it's just baby Christian stuff.
- 1:16:18That has to be maturity still has to come and let it be.
- 1:16:23Don't get involved with it. It says so.
- 1:16:30And then he talks about like, you know, growing and I guess
- 1:16:32maturing. And in verse 7 he says so
- 1:16:35neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything
- 1:16:39but only God who makes things grow.
- 1:16:43So God is patient. We need to be patient with each
- 1:16:46other and let God help the person grow and pray for them.
- 1:16:52We are Co workers in God's service and he Paul was saying
- 1:16:58you are God's field, God's building by grace.
- 1:17:04By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise
- 1:17:07builder in someone else's building on it.
- 1:17:09But each one should build with care.
- 1:17:13No one can lay any foundation other than the one that has
- 1:17:16already been laid, which is Jesus Christ.
- 1:17:21And then he talks about what we build and, and it says like what
- 1:17:25happens? Like if what has been built
- 1:17:27survives, the builder will receive a reward.
- 1:17:30This is where Paul's talking about those rewards.
- 1:17:32Again, if it's burned up, the builder will suffer loss, but
- 1:17:38yet will be saved, even though only as one escaping through the
- 1:17:44flames. So I mean, Paul has an idea
- 1:17:47that, you know, and, and also I, I just noticed something today
- 1:17:52when I was researching about Paul, he had these like awesome
- 1:17:56revelations. And I think I'm going to get to
- 1:17:59that scripture maybe where he had these revelations from God,
- 1:18:05where he wrote all of these books in the Bible.
- 1:18:09And his life drastically changed from persecuting Christians and
- 1:18:13killing them to then becoming one of the authors of the Bible
- 1:18:19that has been, you know, read for thousands of years.
- 1:18:23And Paul had a significant change.
- 1:18:25But it it does he does clarify that he had this thorn in his
- 1:18:30side. And then he clarifies what that
- 1:18:33thorn is. It was an A messenger of Satan,
- 1:18:36an Angel from Satan who tormented him.
- 1:18:40And he asked God to take it away, but God didn't.
- 1:18:43God let him continue to have that so that his pride from all
- 1:18:49of these revelations that God gave him would not get him into
- 1:18:54trouble. So that was, see, God sometimes
- 1:18:58let's evil have some access to us when we show or when God
- 1:19:05knows, oh, that person's going to have pride and pride is the
- 1:19:08downfall. So for protection, God may allow
- 1:19:15evil to interfere with our life, because if he didn't, we might
- 1:19:21get too proud. And if we get too proud and we
- 1:19:24start having confidence in our own abilities or thinking too
- 1:19:28much of ourselves and we don't have that humility, then we're
- 1:19:32going to separate ourselves from God.
- 1:19:33And God doesn't want that. So God sees all these things
- 1:19:37that we don't. And it is like, you know, a
- 1:19:39father, a good father, a dad, you know, looking at us and
- 1:19:43saying, you know, if you have children, you've probably seen
- 1:19:46this where the kids think if they get everything that they
- 1:19:50want, then that's a good thing. But the parent knows they can't
- 1:19:54have absolutely everything they want.
- 1:19:57That won't be a good thing. And that's the way God is with
- 1:20:01us too, is, is that sometimes he has to not give us everything
- 1:20:07that we want because it will not have a good outcome.
- 1:20:12He works all things for the good of those who love him.
- 1:20:17We have to remember that. And then he talks about.
- 1:20:22Ourselves being God's temple and that we have the Holy Spirit
- 1:20:26dwelling in our midst. And then he says if anyone
- 1:20:29destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person.
- 1:20:35For God's temple is sacred and you together are the temple.
- 1:20:40So God's very protective of his people.
- 1:20:46This was something interesting too, because when we get into
- 1:20:49all this legality of a trust and an inheritance and those legal
- 1:20:57terms, in First Corinthians 4, chapter 4, verse 2, it says now
- 1:21:05it is required that those who have been given a trust must
- 1:21:10prove faithful. So I think that's very
- 1:21:14interesting that if you, if you've been given a trust, you
- 1:21:21must prove faithful. So I care, I care very little if
- 1:21:26I'm judged by you or by any human court.
- 1:21:29Indeed, I do not even judge myself.
- 1:21:31My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent.
- 1:21:34It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore, judge nothing before
- 1:21:39the appointed time. Wait until the Lord comes.
- 1:21:42He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will
- 1:21:46expose the motives of the heart. At that time.
- 1:21:51Each will receive their praise from God.
- 1:21:56So these are all like it was all part of that.
- 1:22:02What I'm reading from is the letter that he was writing to
- 1:22:06the Corinthians and they were the the infants in Christ.
- 1:22:13And then he says, I'm not writing this to shame you, but
- 1:22:15to warn you, my dear children, even if you had 10,000 guardians
- 1:22:21in Christ, you do not, you do not have many fathers.
- 1:22:25For in Christ Jesus I became your father through this gospel.
- 1:22:32Therefore, I urge you to imitate me.
- 1:22:35You can kind of see Paul's pride coming out here.
- 1:22:38For this reason, I have sent to you Timothy, my son, whom I
- 1:22:41love, who is faithful in the Lord.
- 1:22:44He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which
- 1:22:47agrees with what I teach everywhere in church.
- 1:22:50So Paul's not being a hypocrite. He's living out the life that
- 1:22:54he's preaching. And then he also says, for the
- 1:22:58Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.
- 1:23:05So these are very interesting things.
- 1:23:09And there's another thing that Paul talks about in the same
- 1:23:13thing about these infants that they, these baby Christians,
- 1:23:16I'll just call it. And he then he talks to them
- 1:23:19about sexual immorality that's among them.
- 1:23:23And he said like a man was sleeping with his father's wife
- 1:23:27and people were doing nothing about it.
- 1:23:30So you know this, it doesn't say that the a man was sleeping with
- 1:23:34his mom. It said he was sleeping with his
- 1:23:37father's wife. So we don't know ages of anybody
- 1:23:41or anything. They could have been, it could
- 1:23:43have been a, you know, a dad with a really young wife and
- 1:23:47then could be the same age as the son and they were sleeping
- 1:23:51together. We don't know any of that.
- 1:23:53But we know that there's a marriage.
- 1:23:56There is a father, his father and he has a wife and they're
- 1:24:00married. And then there's a man that who
- 1:24:02who is sleeping with his own father's wife and nobody was
- 1:24:06dealing with it. So these were, this is the baby
- 1:24:09Christian Church that he's talking to.
- 1:24:12And he says that I have already passed judgement in the name of
- 1:24:17our Lord Jesus Christ on the one who's been doing this, but he's
- 1:24:21upset with them. He said, hand this man in verse
- 1:24:24five, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the
- 1:24:28flesh so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
- 1:24:34So this was interesting because this is somebody in the church,
- 1:24:40you know, probably somebody calling themselves a Christian,
- 1:24:42but they're doing this and, and Paul is saying, Hey, you guys
- 1:24:47are infants. You don't know, this is not
- 1:24:49allowed here. You need to deal with this.
- 1:24:52And he's, he's saying, you know, like, just turn him over.
- 1:24:56Let him, you know, let him, I mean, turn him over.
- 1:24:58That's kind of like, I guess get him out of the church, out of
- 1:25:02the community, but let him just do what he's doing because
- 1:25:07Satan's going to destroy him for doing that, and hopefully his
- 1:25:12spirit will be saved on the day of the Lord.
- 1:25:16And then he goes on to say later, I wrote you in my letter
- 1:25:20not to associate with sexually immoral people.
- 1:25:24Not at all. Meaning the people of this world
- 1:25:26who are immoral or the greedy or the swindlers or the idolaters.
- 1:25:30In that case, you would have to leave the world.
- 1:25:33So even back in that time, and that's probably like today too,
- 1:25:36if you'd say like don't associate with sexually immoral
- 1:25:40people, you'd have to leave the world because most people are
- 1:25:43sexually immoral. But here's what he says, and
- 1:25:47it's probably holds true today too.
- 1:25:50Verse 11. But now I am writing to you that
- 1:25:53you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a
- 1:25:58brother or a sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an
- 1:26:04idolater or slanderer, A drunkard or swindler.
- 1:26:10Do not even eat with such people.
- 1:26:15What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church?
- 1:26:19Are you not to judge those inside?
- 1:26:23God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from
- 1:26:28among you. The reason why they want Paul
- 1:26:33writes this is, and it's been stated before that they talk
- 1:26:37about yeast. Yeast is symbolic of sin.
- 1:26:41A little bit of sin, a little bit of yeast affects the whole
- 1:26:45loaf of bread. So a little bit of sin in a
- 1:26:49quote, godly community is going to affect the whole community.
- 1:26:54And he's like, no, get it out. You cannot have that in in the
- 1:26:57church. If somebody's saying that they
- 1:26:59are a believer or a brother or sister, get them out and and
- 1:27:05that they were just, you know, immature with that.
- 1:27:10And then he goes on to talk more about like lawsuits among
- 1:27:14believers. This is in one Corinthians
- 1:27:16chapter 6. And then he says in verse 9, or
- 1:27:19do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the Kingdom of
- 1:27:23God? Do not be deceived.
- 1:27:27So don't let anybody tell you the lie that this is not true.
- 1:27:30Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral,
- 1:27:35nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who have sex with men,
- 1:27:42nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor
- 1:27:48swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God.
- 1:27:53And that is what some of you were, but you were washed, you
- 1:27:57were sanctified. You were justified in the name
- 1:28:00of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
- 1:28:05So Paul is not saying, you know, that they never did any of these
- 1:28:09things. They did those things, but they
- 1:28:13were, they were washed, they were baptized, they received the
- 1:28:17Holy Spirit, they were sanctified and justified in the
- 1:28:20name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit, the Holy Spirit
- 1:28:25there of our God. So that is what some people are.
- 1:28:30But when people are doing this, they, they cannot have the
- 1:28:34Spirit in them to do this or they, the Spirit would convict
- 1:28:38them of this. So then he says I have the
- 1:28:43right. He said this is quotations verse
- 1:28:4712. I have the right to do anything
- 1:28:50you say, but not everything is beneficial.
- 1:28:53I have the right to do anything, but I will not be mastered by
- 1:28:58anything. So see that's the the problem
- 1:29:01there is the Lord your master and that's what I think a lot of
- 1:29:06people, they will use the Christian label, but the Lord is
- 1:29:11not their master like the word of God.
- 1:29:13That's not law to them. They feel like I don't need to
- 1:29:18do any of that stuff. And I think that is like baby
- 1:29:22Christians. And that's what Paul's talking
- 1:29:25here about. Like, yeah, that's not right.
- 1:29:27You say food for the stomach and stomach for food, and God will
- 1:29:30destroy them both. The body, however, is not meant
- 1:29:35for sexual immorality, but for God and the Lord.
- 1:29:40For the body. By his power, God raised the
- 1:29:44Lord from the dead. He will also raise us up.
- 1:29:50Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?
- 1:29:56Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a
- 1:30:01prostitute? He says never, never, ever,
- 1:30:06never. Do you not know that he who
- 1:30:10unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body?
- 1:30:15For it is said, the two will become one flesh.
- 1:30:19So I guess if you choose that, you can unite yourself with that
- 1:30:23prostitute. But then you're one in flesh.
- 1:30:27And then it says, but. So On the contrary, whoever is
- 1:30:31united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
- 1:30:37So are you going to be one in in flesh or one in spirit?
- 1:30:45The Spirit's going to rise you from the dead.
- 1:30:48You can be the one in flesh with somebody else, but there's no
- 1:30:52doesn't look like there's any room for the Holy Spirit there.
- 1:30:56And or else he wouldn't tell us this.
- 1:30:59Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits
- 1:31:07are outside the body. But whoever sins sexually sins
- 1:31:13against their own body. That's probably why that's the
- 1:31:18enemy's greatest, oh, I don't know thing that they tempt that
- 1:31:28people get tempted with sexual immorality because it is
- 1:31:33pleasing to people. But it's like the greatest
- 1:31:37separation from God to fall from that, to have that come against
- 1:31:43us because it says that this this is the one thing everything
- 1:31:47else is outside the body. But this this effects our
- 1:31:50spirit. And it's probably because it's a
- 1:31:52spiritual law where the 2 become one flesh.
- 1:31:56And, and so I don't understand it fully, but what I do
- 1:32:03understand is that Paul says flee from it.
- 1:32:08That's not just, I mean, it just says, don't you understand this?
- 1:32:14And he puts a whole chapter on this, several chapters on this.
- 1:32:18And he also talks about us, you know, if we're participating in
- 1:32:22this, that we are not going to be in the Kingdom of God.
- 1:32:27So that is something pretty serious.
- 1:32:31Like you really have to think about what's more important to
- 1:32:34you, the flesh, or do you want to submit to the Spirit and
- 1:32:39inherit the Kingdom of God? There's a right way.
- 1:32:42I mean, God is not against sex by any means, but it needs to be
- 1:32:47in a marriage. I mean, God made it, and he made
- 1:32:51it for good, but it's just we, I guess we have the enemy's help
- 1:32:57too, to make us look at it in a way that's not godly, in a way
- 1:33:02that's not good, the way that God did not intend it to be.
- 1:33:06And it's the same thing. But it can be used for good or
- 1:33:09for evil. And so Satan tempts us to use it
- 1:33:13for evil when we could still have it, but we just have to do
- 1:33:19it in the right way, in the way that God tells us to do it.
- 1:33:22So it's still there. It's not, it's not that we won't
- 1:33:25have it or that we can't have it.
- 1:33:28It's that we, there are certain guidelines with it, and if we
- 1:33:34stay within those guidelines, it's perfectly acceptable.
- 1:33:38It's not that God is like trying to keep anything from anybody,
- 1:33:42but what the enemy is doing is trying to make it like that and
- 1:33:46then lure people in so that they separate themselves from God and
- 1:33:52they are ruled by the flesh. They are under the slavery of
- 1:33:56sin like it was talked about earlier and it says do you not
- 1:34:00know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who
- 1:34:02is in you, whom you have received from God?
- 1:34:06You are not your own. You were bought at a price.
- 1:34:08Therefore honor God with your bodies.
- 1:34:14I talked about that with the next thing that I had was about
- 1:34:18humility. But I did talk about that about
- 1:34:20Paul, that he had this messenger of Saint Satan to torment him.
- 1:34:25And then in Hebrews 10, this is another thing that there was
- 1:34:32something that hit me really hard when I read it in verse 14.
- 1:34:38First it says for by 1 sacrifice he is made perfect forever those
- 1:34:43who are being made holy. So Jesus is 1 sacrifice on the
- 1:34:48cross. He is made perfect forever,
- 1:34:51those who are being made holy. So again, this shows us there's
- 1:34:56a change for those people. The Holy Spirit causes that
- 1:34:59change. We have to want that change to
- 1:35:02be in the Kingdom of God, and we will begin to be made holy by
- 1:35:06the Holy Spirit. It says the Holy Spirit also
- 1:35:09testifies to us about this. First he says this is the
- 1:35:13covenant I will make with them. After that time, says the Lord,
- 1:35:15I will put my laws in their hearts and I will write them on
- 1:35:18their minds. Then he adds their sins and
- 1:35:20lawless acts. I will remember no more.
- 1:35:23And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is
- 1:35:29no longer necessary. So this is where these have been
- 1:35:34forgiven. So remember that the forgiveness
- 1:35:40comes from the shedding of blood, and that shedding of
- 1:35:42blood was Jesus's blood on the cross.
- 1:35:45And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is
- 1:35:50no longer necessary. That's why sacrifices aren't
- 1:35:53needed. It's because Jesus was the final
- 1:35:55sacrifice. Therefore, brothers and sisters,
- 1:35:58since we have confidence to enter the most holy, holy Place
- 1:36:02by the blood of Jesus, because we've been forgiven by a new and
- 1:36:08living way opened for us through the curtain that is His body,
- 1:36:15and since we have a great priest over the House of God, let us
- 1:36:19draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full
- 1:36:23assurance that faith brings. Having our hearts sprinkled to
- 1:36:27cleanse us from a guilty conscience, and having our
- 1:36:30bodies washed with pure water, let us hold unswervingly to the
- 1:36:34hope we profess for He who promised is faithful.
- 1:36:39And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love
- 1:36:44and good deeds, not giving up meeting together as some are in
- 1:36:48the habit of doing, but encouraging one another all the
- 1:36:52more as you see the day, the return of Jesus approaching.
- 1:36:58Now here's this is where this is one that really got me when I
- 1:37:03read it for the first time. This is Hebrews 10 verse 26.
- 1:37:07If we deliberately, deliberately, as keyword, keep
- 1:37:12on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the
- 1:37:17truth, no sacrifice is no sacrifice for sins is left, but
- 1:37:25only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that
- 1:37:33will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of
- 1:37:40Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three
- 1:37:46witnesses. How much more severely do you
- 1:37:50think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the
- 1:37:54Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the
- 1:38:01blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has
- 1:38:08insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said it is
- 1:38:15mine to avenge. I will repay, and again the Lord
- 1:38:19will judge his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall
- 1:38:24into the hands of the living God.
- 1:38:27When I read that, I, I don't know how anybody could not see
- 1:38:33that we can't keep on sinning and saying, oh, it's covered by
- 1:38:40grace. It's like if we deliberately
- 1:38:43keep on sinning, you're rejecting God.
- 1:38:47If you're doing that and I don't you, I, I would question if I
- 1:38:54were you, I would ask God, do I have the Holy Spirit?
- 1:38:58Has the Holy Spirit departed from me?
- 1:38:59And there's some people say that it that wouldn't happen, but I
- 1:39:04just think about Saul, the first king, where Saul was disobedient
- 1:39:08to God and it and it said God took his spirit from him and
- 1:39:14sent an evil spirit to torment him.
- 1:39:18So we know that if God sent an evil spirit to torment him, what
- 1:39:25does God want from that? He wants Saul's life to be so
- 1:39:29miserable that he turns back to God.
- 1:39:33That's his whole purpose. He doesn't want people to be
- 1:39:36separated from him. But when you just keep doing
- 1:39:40something over and over and over again, you don't leave God a
- 1:39:43choice. But the next thing that's going
- 1:39:46to happen is probably likely if history repeats itself, and it
- 1:39:53sure seems like it doesn't in Scripture, there's going to be
- 1:39:56some evil torment that's going to come to you.
- 1:40:00So you could either do it God's way, or you could do it your way
- 1:40:04and have this suffering that you could have avoided if you would
- 1:40:10do it God's way. But it's just something to think
- 1:40:13about. Do you want to risk it?
- 1:40:14Do you want to test God? Do you want to deliberately keep
- 1:40:18on sinning? It says here and then have a
- 1:40:22fearful expectation of judging and raging a judgement and
- 1:40:26raging fire that will consume and your then it's you're called
- 1:40:29an enemy of God. So read Hebrews 10 and pray
- 1:40:36about it. And if the Holy Spirit's
- 1:40:38convicting you, then do something about it.
- 1:40:41Because I know it did me. It was when I read these things,
- 1:40:46there was like way too much in my conscience to continue in, in
- 1:40:51things that the Bible said. I would basically be outside
- 1:40:56God's Kingdom if I kept doing that.
- 1:40:58It's it's not performance based, but when we have the Holy
- 1:41:03Spirit, the Holy Spirit sanctifies us.
- 1:41:06Are we sanctified if we keep on sinning, if we keep on rebelling
- 1:41:11against God? Do we have the Holy Spirit?
- 1:41:13Did we make Jesus Lord of our life?
- 1:41:16Would Jesus tell us to be doing that?
- 1:41:20And Jesus said, if you love me, obey my commands.
- 1:41:24So if we if we know what his commands are and we're
- 1:41:28deliberately going against, that's what this is talking
- 1:41:30about. This isn't talking about
- 1:41:31accidental or in a weak moment. And then as soon as you realize
- 1:41:37that, you're like, Oh my gosh, I can't believe I did that.
- 1:41:39And I'm so sorry, God, I do not want to do that.
- 1:41:41That's where I believe that God is merciful.
- 1:41:46But this is talking about somebody who just deliberately
- 1:41:49keeps on doing something they know they're doing wrong.
- 1:41:52It's a big warning. And I don't say this to condemn
- 1:41:57anyone. I say it as a warning to, you
- 1:42:00know, wake up because I, I don't want to see you or anyone be
- 1:42:06eternally separated from God and God just wants to restore that
- 1:42:10relationship. So if that's you, then it's get
- 1:42:15right. I mean, I don't know who you
- 1:42:16are. I don't know who's listening to
- 1:42:18my podcast. And I'm just saying that, you
- 1:42:21know, like all people, it's, it's time to get right with God
- 1:42:26and, and don't let that stuff. I mean, if, if being in God's
- 1:42:29Kingdom is important to you, don't delay getting right with
- 1:42:34God. Get rid of sin.
- 1:42:36Just get it out of your life because it's not worth it.
- 1:42:40Our life here on earth is what, maybe 120 years Max and compared
- 1:42:46to eternity? So where do you want to spend
- 1:42:49eternity? I mean, this is nothing.
- 1:42:51This is a broken world. It's not even going to be, as
- 1:42:55you know, whatever is so great here, it's going to be nothing
- 1:42:59compared to what the greatness will be in God's Kingdom.
- 1:43:04So believe, this is another thing that I had looked up to
- 1:43:09about believing because I think that's really important to
- 1:43:13really know what believe means in the Bible.
- 1:43:15And in Psalm 7822, it says for they did not believe in God or
- 1:43:20trust in his deliverance. So God will deliver us from
- 1:43:24things. Psalm 7832 says in spite of all
- 1:43:27this they kept on sinning. In spite of His wonders, they
- 1:43:32did not believe. So like this is another thing
- 1:43:36talking about keep on sinning. I mean, you don't do that when
- 1:43:39you believe Psalm one. O 624 Then they despised the
- 1:43:45pleasant land. They did not believe His
- 1:43:48promise. We have to look at all Scripture
- 1:43:50and know that these things that are in here are going to come
- 1:43:54true, if they have not already. And what God says in His words
- 1:43:59is going to happen. So we don't it's not wise to
- 1:44:04test God and say, well, I don't know if He'll do something about
- 1:44:07this. Well, history shows that he
- 1:44:10will. And the only thing that right
- 1:44:13now where maybe you're not suffering from something if
- 1:44:15you're in rebellion to him is that he's being patient and kind
- 1:44:20and merciful and hoping that you will actually turn to him.
- 1:44:25Proverbs 1415 The simple believe anything but the prudent give
- 1:44:30thought to their steps. So some people might doubt their
- 1:44:34belief and have questions. And I think this is Proverbs is
- 1:44:38written by one of the wisest people that was written by
- 1:44:40Solomon. Proverbs 1415 it says the simple
- 1:44:44believe anything but the prudent give thought to their steps.
- 1:44:48That's twofold. I mean, if you're struggling to
- 1:44:50believe something, I think that you know that it's, it's prudent
- 1:44:55to, you know, give thought to it to think through these things.
- 1:44:59And the other thing that's kind of a warning is within this day
- 1:45:03of deception and, and the way AI is becoming and how we can
- 1:45:07easily be deceived, it's, it's important to remember the simple
- 1:45:12believe anything but the prudent give thought to their steps.
- 1:45:15So we have to really be examining and praying about
- 1:45:18things that we see these days. Isaiah 4310 says you are my
- 1:45:23witnesses, declares the Lord and my servant whom I'm chosen, so
- 1:45:27that may you may know and believe me and understand that I
- 1:45:31am he before me know God was formed, nor will there be 1
- 1:45:39after me. So this is God.
- 1:45:43He is, he is 1. There's no one before him, no
- 1:45:47one after him, God alone in Matthew 21 verse 22, if you
- 1:45:54believe you will receive whatever you ask in prayer.
- 1:45:59So, and this is also according to God's will because we know
- 1:46:05somewhere else. We can't just take a verse out
- 1:46:07of out of context or out of what it says in the whole Bible.
- 1:46:11It it all has to be in agreement.
- 1:46:14So if you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in
- 1:46:19prayer. And it's, I would add according
- 1:46:22to God's will. And those were Jesus's words
- 1:46:25that he was talking about to his disciples.
- 1:46:28Matthew 21, verse 32 For John came to show you the way of
- 1:46:33righteousness, John the Baptist, and you did not believe him, but
- 1:46:38the tax collectors and the prostitutes did.
- 1:46:41And even after this, after you saw this, you did not repent and
- 1:46:46believe him. So this is something Jesus, he
- 1:46:50never leaves out repentance, repentance and belief.
- 1:46:53Repentance is turning away from sins does not keep on sinning.
- 1:46:58It's turning away from sin and believing.
- 1:47:01That's, that's, that's key. Then a lot of people, you know,
- 1:47:05ignore the repent part, but that's what Jesus says.
- 1:47:10Now we're going to talk at Mark one, verse 15.
- 1:47:14This is Jesus. These are Jesus's words.
- 1:47:16The time has come. He said the Kingdom of God has
- 1:47:20come near repent and believe the good news.
- 1:47:27So there's something we have to do.
- 1:47:29We have to repent of our sins and, and believe, you know, that
- 1:47:33Jesus is who he is. And that's one thing the demons
- 1:47:36don't do. They don't repent.
- 1:47:38I don't even know if they can. They're just doing evil.
- 1:47:42So when the demons believe and shudder, they're not repenting.
- 1:47:46So repentance is important. Mark 1124.
- 1:47:52Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that
- 1:47:55you have received it and it will be yours.
- 1:47:59So there's a lot of positive things about believing.
- 1:48:03Mark 16 verse 14. Later Jesus appeared to the 11
- 1:48:08as they were eating. He rebuked them for their lack
- 1:48:13of faith and their stubborn, stubborn refusal to believe
- 1:48:19those who had seen him after he had risen.
- 1:48:24So even those closest to Jesus struggled with believing.
- 1:48:31Mark 1616. Whoever believes and is baptized
- 1:48:37will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
- 1:48:44So that's pretty clear. Believe get baptized, be saved.
- 1:48:50Baptism isn't. We know that from the man on the
- 1:48:53cross next to Jesus. He didn't get baptized but got,
- 1:48:57but Jesus told him, surely this day you will be with me in
- 1:49:01paradise. So he was saved.
- 1:49:04But Jesus did command us to go and be baptized in the name of
- 1:49:10the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
- 1:49:13So that was something Jesus said to do.
- 1:49:15And I think that we should take that to heart.
- 1:49:19And in a, you know, God said, be obedient.
- 1:49:22If you love me, obey my commands.
- 1:49:24That's what Jesus said, to go and be baptized in the name of
- 1:49:28the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Now in Mark 16, this was
- 1:49:33interesting. And these signs will accompany
- 1:49:37those who believe in my name. They will drive out demons.
- 1:49:41They will speak in new tongues. So here are some signs that
- 1:49:49accompany those who believe in my name.
- 1:49:54They will drive out demons. They will speak in new tongues,
- 1:50:00in new languages, and it says they will pick up snakes with
- 1:50:07their hands. And when they drink deadly
- 1:50:11poison, it will not hurt them at all.
- 1:50:15They will place their hands on sick people and they will get
- 1:50:20well. And we saw that from his
- 1:50:23disciples in the book of Acts. We saw that that happened.
- 1:50:28But this is what what Jesus said.
- 1:50:32He said whoever believes and is isn't and is baptized will be
- 1:50:37saved. But whoever does not believe
- 1:50:39will be condemned. And these signs will accompany
- 1:50:42those who believe in my name. They will drive out demons, They
- 1:50:47will speak in new tongues. They will pick up snakes with
- 1:50:51their hands. And when they drink deadly
- 1:50:54poison, it will not hurt them at all.
- 1:50:57They will place their hands on sick people, and they will get
- 1:51:01well. Look at the power that Jesus
- 1:51:04gives to believers. I just thought that was
- 1:51:10something to really emphasize. Now when it talks about
- 1:51:14believing, what are the hindrances to believing in Luke
- 1:51:18chapter 8 verse 12, it says those along the this is talking
- 1:51:23about when sowing seeds and people who hear them and it
- 1:51:26talks about, I'll just read this first.
- 1:51:30Those along the path are the ones who hear and then the devil
- 1:51:34comes and takes away the word from their hearts so that they
- 1:51:38may not believe and be saved. So the devil is active when
- 1:51:46people are trying to come to faith, they hear the good news.
- 1:51:50The devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts so
- 1:51:54they don't believe. So that's a threat to people.
- 1:51:58So be careful. If you're a new believer, you
- 1:52:01know, someone who's a new believer, the devil's going to
- 1:52:05be after them to take it away from their heart so that they
- 1:52:09may not believe and be saved. So the adversary comes along,
- 1:52:14he's seeking to steal, steal from God, kill and destroy.
- 1:52:21Then there's another example of those.
- 1:52:24It's talking about seeds. You know, the gospel, the good
- 1:52:26news, Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the
- 1:52:30word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root.
- 1:52:35They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall
- 1:52:40away. And that's another thing that
- 1:52:42happens to people. I know I experienced it when I
- 1:52:45finally believed, when it really became real to me.
- 1:52:49And then I had testing and I was thinking in my I was praying
- 1:52:55too. And I was like, God, I'm trying
- 1:52:57to be, you know, a better person and, and bad things are
- 1:53:03happening to me. I'm trying to be obedient.
- 1:53:05It's basically what I was trying to do.
- 1:53:08And then I found out that I was being tested because I was I was
- 1:53:14changing my life and unfortunately I wasn't doing it
- 1:53:19yet with the Holy Spirit. I don't think I had the Holy
- 1:53:22Spirit at that point. I think I was just doing it
- 1:53:25myself. I don't think I received the
- 1:53:26Holy Spirit until the day I was baptized because that day, and I
- 1:53:32think it had to do with my complete surrender because that
- 1:53:35was something I struggled with deciding to get baptized for
- 1:53:38about two years. And then finally when I decided
- 1:53:41to get baptized, I would. The reason why is I had it in my
- 1:53:47mind, I'm not going to get baptized and be a hypocrite.
- 1:53:51If I get baptized, I'm going to mean it.
- 1:53:55And so I delayed like was I ready?
- 1:53:58And then then actually something got cancelled.
- 1:54:00It was 2020 when I was going to do it.
- 1:54:02And then it got cancelled because of the stuff that was
- 1:54:05going on in the world. So I didn't get to do it in
- 1:54:082020. And then I got, I was baptized
- 1:54:10in 2021. So the first opportunity that I
- 1:54:13had to do it, I did take that opportunity and did it.
- 1:54:19But that's when I believe I received the Holy Spirit because
- 1:54:22things really changed after that.
- 1:54:25So let's see. And then Luke 24 verse 25, he
- 1:54:31said to them, how foolish you are, and how slow to believe all
- 1:54:35the prophets have spoken. So this is again Jesus words and
- 1:54:42how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken the
- 1:54:46prophets of the Old Testament. It's important to read those and
- 1:54:51it's really a lot of people just read the New Testament.
- 1:54:53But the Old Testament is so important.
- 1:54:55You don't really understand the New Testament as fully as you
- 1:54:59will if you read the Old Testament because you need that
- 1:55:02foundation 1st and and then what the prophets have spoken it, you
- 1:55:08know, it's so important because some of those prophecies have
- 1:55:12come to true, have come to pass and other prophecies will come
- 1:55:18true, but they haven't yet been fulfilled yet.
- 1:55:22But it's all through the Bible. There's lots of Old Testament
- 1:55:26prophecies that talk about Jesus and and I think he was just
- 1:55:30rebuking them saying, you know, there's a lot of information in
- 1:55:33there, but you don't even believe them.
- 1:55:36Then another few more verses, John 3 verse 12.
- 1:55:41I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe.
- 1:55:45How then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
- 1:55:48This was Jesus talking to Nicodemus.
- 1:55:50And and it's just like our capacity or his capacity.
- 1:55:55Well, I think even ours, because we don't, we don't know
- 1:55:59everything about the heavenly things.
- 1:56:00There are things that Ezekiel saw and that John saw that we
- 1:56:04just don't really know what these like wheels intersecting
- 1:56:08wheels with eyes all around and, and seraphim that have 66 wings
- 1:56:13and eyes all over and four faces and creatures that are seated at
- 1:56:17the throne of God. Like all those things.
- 1:56:20We don't know those things. We, you know, we read about them
- 1:56:23in the Bible, but those are heavenly things.
- 1:56:27And some, you know, the prophet Ezekiel saw it and I think John
- 1:56:32saw some of the same things Ezekiel saw.
- 1:56:36But that's not when Jesus was talking to Nicodemus.
- 1:56:41He was saying, you know, I'm trying to explain earthly
- 1:56:43things. He was trying to explain being
- 1:56:45born again to Nicodemus, but he didn't understand it.
- 1:56:48And he's like, how can I tell you about heavenly things?
- 1:56:51So that's John chapter 3. Such a great chapter to read
- 1:56:55about being born again in John 318.
- 1:56:58Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not
- 1:57:02believe stands stands condemned already because they have not
- 1:57:06believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
- 1:57:12So again, this is John testifying that Jesus is God's
- 1:57:15one and only son. So Jesus answered in John
- 1:57:23chapter 6 verse 29. The work of God is this, to
- 1:57:29believe in the one He has sent. He was referring to Himself.
- 1:57:35John chapter 8 verse 24. I told you this is Jesus again.
- 1:57:40I told you that you would die in your sins.
- 1:57:44If you do not believe that I am He, you will indeed die in your
- 1:57:51sins. So Jesus is trying to save
- 1:57:54people and they're just saying you're not who you're not the
- 1:57:57Son of God. He's saying, yes, I am.
- 1:57:59And if you don't believe me, then you're not going to be,
- 1:58:02you're going to die in your sins if you don't accept me except
- 1:58:06the death on the cross that was coming up.
- 1:58:09So people are foolish not to recognize Jesus as the Son of
- 1:58:14God. They don't know that they're,
- 1:58:15they're sending themselves to eternal damnation, essentially.
- 1:58:20John chapter 10 verse 25, 26 and then 37 and 38.
- 1:58:26I'll read it. There's a lot of them in there.
- 1:58:28In John chapter 10, Jesus answered, I did tell you, but
- 1:58:31you did not believe. The works I do in my Father's
- 1:58:35name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are
- 1:58:39not my sheep. So sometimes people might be.
- 1:58:44There's this verse in Genesis that's really interesting where
- 1:58:48God after the the sin that occurred, God said to the
- 1:58:54serpent and to the woman, I will place enmity between your seed
- 1:59:00or your offspring and her offspring.
- 1:59:03So he's talking to the serpent. The serpent has offspring, so
- 1:59:10there are some and they are the wicked and the righteous grow up
- 1:59:16together. And we're not going to
- 1:59:18necessarily know who each one is until Jesus comes where I guess
- 1:59:22with his angels and they harvest the people and bring them to
- 1:59:27him. And that's when it will finally
- 1:59:30it'll all be revealed. But there we don't really know
- 1:59:35who are it's, there's another, I guess in the, I don't know if
- 1:59:39it's King James Version where it talks about the wheat and the
- 1:59:42tares. It's the weeds and the wheat,
- 1:59:47the weeds are the evil ones that the Satan has sown.
- 1:59:51So there's some seeds that he has out in this world.
- 1:59:54But I'm I'm wondering if John chapter 26, John chapter 10
- 2:00:00verse 26 says you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
- 2:00:06And then he says, do not believe me unless I do the works of my
- 2:00:10Father. But if I do them, even though
- 2:00:13you don't do not believe me, believe the works that you may
- 2:00:17know and understand that the Father is in me and I in the
- 2:00:23Father. This is where that connection
- 2:00:25that I guess spiritual connection, that's the only way
- 2:00:27I understand it, that they are in unison.
- 2:00:33John 1126 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.
- 2:00:38Do you believe this? Yes, Lord, she replied.
- 2:00:42I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God who is
- 2:00:45to come into the world. I believe this is the woman at
- 2:00:48the well. John 1140 Then Jesus said, Did I
- 2:00:53not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory
- 2:00:56of God? John 1142 I knew that you always
- 2:01:01hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing
- 2:01:04here, that they may believe that you have sent me.
- 2:01:07This is when Jesus is praying to the Father and then it says if
- 2:01:11we let him go like oh, John 1148, this is interesting.
- 2:01:17If we let him go on like this talking about Jesus, everyone
- 2:01:21will believe in him and then the Romans will come and take away
- 2:01:26both our temple and our nation. So this is a worldly hanging on
- 2:01:33to the like I these people, the Jewish people who said this or
- 2:01:38the Pharisees were saying we don't want the Romans to come
- 2:01:42and take away our temple and our nation if everybody believes
- 2:01:44him. So they're they're looking for
- 2:01:48some earthly things, their nation and the temple, which is
- 2:01:52really interesting. John 12 verse 2036 Believe in
- 2:01:57the light while you have the light so that you may become
- 2:02:00children of the light. When he had finished speaking,
- 2:02:04Jesus left and hid himself from them.
- 2:02:06So Jesus is the light, and so he's like believe in the light
- 2:02:11so many times it's like he tells them to believe.
- 2:02:15John 1237. Even after Jesus had performed
- 2:02:18so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe
- 2:02:21Him. In him there's going to be
- 2:02:23people who just won't believe. You can't force somebody to
- 2:02:26believe. John 1244 Then Jesus cried out,
- 2:02:30Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the
- 2:02:35one who sent me, that's Father God.
- 2:02:39John 1319 I am telling you now before it happens, so that when
- 2:02:43it does happen, you will believe that I am who am.
- 2:02:49So that's another reason why Jesus gave gives these prophetic
- 2:02:53things to his followers is that when I tell you ahead of time
- 2:02:59and these things happen, then you're going to know that's
- 2:03:01that's who I am. John 1410 Don't you believe that
- 2:03:05I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
- 2:03:07The words I say to you, I did not speak on my own authority.
- 2:03:10Rather it is the Father living in me who is doing his work.
- 2:03:15Then in believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the
- 2:03:20Father is in me, or at least believe on the evidence of the
- 2:03:24works themselves. And then in verse 29, in chapter
- 2:03:2814, John, he says, I have told you now before it happens, so
- 2:03:32that when it does happen, you will believe.
- 2:03:35And then John 16-9 says this is Jesus about sin because people
- 2:03:41do not believe in me. And then here's that John 17.
- 2:03:50This is the verses that stand out to me.
- 2:03:54This is Jesus praying to the Father.
- 2:03:56My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will
- 2:04:03believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be
- 2:04:08one Father. Just as you are in me and I am
- 2:04:14in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe
- 2:04:21that you have sent me. It's like the Holy Spirit.
- 2:04:25That's a spiritual connection. That's the only way that I can
- 2:04:27understand that verse. So then it says in John 20 verse
- 2:04:3531, but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is
- 2:04:40the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have
- 2:04:45life in His name. And then it says in Acts 15
- 2:04:50verse 11, no, we believe it is through the grace of our Lord
- 2:04:54Jesus that we are saved just as they are.
- 2:04:58Acts or 1631 they replied believe in the Lord Jesus and
- 2:05:04you will be saved, you and your household.
- 2:05:07Acts 19 four Paul said John John's baptism was a baptism of
- 2:05:13repentance. He told the people to believe in
- 2:05:16the one coming after him, that is in Jesus.
- 2:05:21Then Romans 322 the righteousness is given through
- 2:05:25faith in Christ Jesus to all who believe.
- 2:05:30There is no difference between Jew and Gentile.
- 2:05:35And then Romans 411 And he received circumcision as a sign,
- 2:05:40a seal of righteousness that he had by faith while he was still
- 2:05:46uncircumcised. This is talking about Abraham
- 2:05:48from the Old Testament. So then he is the Father of all
- 2:05:52who believe, but have not been circumcised, in order that
- 2:05:57righteousness might be credited to them in Romans 424, but also
- 2:06:03for us to whom God will credit righteousness for us who believe
- 2:06:09in him who raised Jesus our Lord for from the dead.
- 2:06:15So God will credit righteousness for us who believe in him, who
- 2:06:22believe in God who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
- 2:06:27Romans 6 verse 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we
- 2:06:36will also live with Him. So this is conditional.
- 2:06:40If we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live
- 2:06:44with Him. So that's putting death to sin.
- 2:06:49Romans 10-9 If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and
- 2:06:53believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you
- 2:06:58will be saved. Romans 10/10 For it is with your
- 2:07:03heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your
- 2:07:08mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- 2:07:13Romans 1422 So whatever you believe about these things, keep
- 2:07:18between yourself, and God bless. It is the one who does not
- 2:07:22condemn himself by what he approves.
- 2:07:27Again, I think that's our close relationship with God.
- 2:07:29It says blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what
- 2:07:34he approves. So we need to make sure that we
- 2:07:38are in communication with God and that if we're convicted of
- 2:07:43something, we don't keep doing it.
- 2:07:46If we're, if we have a free conscience about it, we
- 2:07:49shouldn't worry about it. But if we're submitted to
- 2:07:54Christ, if we have the Holy Spirit, we will feel convicted
- 2:07:58by it. Ephesians 119 and his
- 2:08:02incomparably great power for us who believe that power is the
- 2:08:08same as the mighty strength. So believers have power.
- 2:08:14That's what I really want to stress for Christians.
- 2:08:16If you are a believer and you have the Holy Spirit, you have
- 2:08:19power. You're not your flesh is weak,
- 2:08:23but you have the the Holy Spirit in you and that is strong.
- 2:08:27So that's how you overcome, not by your own power, but by the
- 2:08:30power of God, but you have to yield to God.
- 2:08:34So in those cases you would say like simply, Lord help me right
- 2:08:39now. Philippians one verse 29 for it
- 2:08:46has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to
- 2:08:50believe in him, but also to suffer for him.
- 2:08:56So there is often suffering in some sense with associated with
- 2:09:03believing and then one Thessalonians 2 verse 13.
- 2:09:10And we also thank God continually because when you
- 2:09:13received the word of God, what you heard from us, you accepted
- 2:09:16it not as a human word, but as it actually is the word of God,
- 2:09:22which is indeed at work in you who believe.
- 2:09:27So the when we hear the word of God and it's working in our
- 2:09:31lives, that's what happens to people who believe the the the
- 2:09:36word of God is working in their life, is changing their life. 1
- 2:09:40Thessalonians 414 For we believe that God died and rose again.
- 2:09:45Oh, I'm sorry. For we believe that Jesus died
- 2:09:48and rose again. And so we believe that God will
- 2:09:52bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
- 2:09:59So this is talking about the the dead in Christ, those who
- 2:10:03believed in Christ, that they will be raised with the Holy
- 2:10:07Spirit again. That's why Jesus was saying we
- 2:10:09need the Holy Spirit because that's how God raised him from
- 2:10:13the dead. That's how God will raise us
- 2:10:15from the dead. One Timothy one verse 16 but for
- 2:10:20that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me the worst of
- 2:10:25sinners. This is Paul writing it.
- 2:10:26Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example
- 2:10:33for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
- 2:10:36So Paul was actually killing Christians before he became
- 2:10:40well, when he was named Saul, and then he became Paul.
- 2:10:44And so, but Christ was patient with him and he said Saul, Saul,
- 2:10:50why he appeared to him in a vision on the road to Damascus
- 2:10:53and said Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?
- 2:10:56And, and he was blinded by the vision that he had of Christ
- 2:11:00and, and it significantly impacted Paul, who had been
- 2:11:05killing Christians. He stopped doing that and then
- 2:11:08wrote a good chunk of the New Testament and a lot of what
- 2:11:10we're reading today. So he had, like he said, he was
- 2:11:14the worst of sinners. He was killing Jesus believers
- 2:11:19and then he started writing about it and encouraging
- 2:11:23believers. So a radical change.
- 2:11:25That's a new creation, like an extreme new creation.
- 2:11:30Then we have Hebrews 11/6 and without faith it is impossible
- 2:11:34to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that
- 2:11:39He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
- 2:11:47So there's a lot here that we talked about already.
- 2:11:50Faith, believing that He exists and that He rewards those who
- 2:11:55seek Him. There's benefits to seeking God.
- 2:11:59James one verse 6. But when you ask, you must
- 2:12:02believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a
- 2:12:06wave of the sea blown and tossed by the wind.
- 2:12:11James 2 verse 19. You believe there is one God
- 2:12:15good. Even the demons believe that and
- 2:12:18shudder. So we have to make sure that we
- 2:12:21have a belief that's a little different than what the demons
- 2:12:25believe, belief that comes through action and how we live
- 2:12:29our lives and that we have the Holy Spirit.
- 2:12:31The demons are not holy. They won't have they don't have
- 2:12:36the capacity to have the Holy Spirit.
- 2:12:39So they are something other than that.
- 2:12:41And and so they there's a little bit more to it and hopefully
- 2:12:47that's coming through with this podcast.
- 2:12:49First Peter 121 Through him you believe in God who raised him
- 2:12:54from the dead and glorified him. And so your faith and hope are
- 2:12:58in God. So through Jesus, you believe in
- 2:13:01God who raised Jesus from the dead and glorified Jesus.
- 2:13:06And so your faith and hope are in God.
- 2:13:10First Peter 27 Now to you who believe the stone is precious,
- 2:13:16but to those who do not believe, the stone the builders rejected
- 2:13:20has become the cornerstone. This is about Jesus.
- 2:13:23So now to I'll read it with that.
- 2:13:26Now to you who believe Jesus is precious, but to those who do
- 2:13:31not believe Jesus, well, he's the stone the builders rejected
- 2:13:36has become the cornerstone. 1 John 3, verse 23.
- 2:13:42And this is his command, to believe in the name of his Son
- 2:13:48Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded.
- 2:13:53So believe Jesus, love one another.
- 2:13:58That's in one John 323, 1 John 513.
- 2:14:03I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son
- 2:14:07of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
- 2:14:13So that's pretty important. Like how do you know that you
- 2:14:16have eternal life? So I'm going to read 1 John 5:00
- 2:14:20and then I'm going to stop this podcast because this is how you
- 2:14:24know that you have eternal life. Everyone who believes that Jesus
- 2:14:29is the Christ is born of God. It's like born again.
- 2:14:34And everyone who loves the Father loves his child as well.
- 2:14:40This is how we know that we love the children of God by loving
- 2:14:46God and carrying out His commands.
- 2:14:51So this is how we know that we love the children of God by
- 2:14:54loving God and carrying out his commands.
- 2:14:58So again, this is love is obedience to God's commands.
- 2:15:04Verse 3. In fact, this is love for God to
- 2:15:08keep his commands and his commands are not burdensome for
- 2:15:13everyone born of God overcomes the world.
- 2:15:19This is the victory that that has overcome the world, even our
- 2:15:23faith. Who is it that overcomes the
- 2:15:25world? Only the one who believes that
- 2:15:30Jesus is the Son of God. This is the one who came by
- 2:15:35water and blood, Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only,
- 2:15:40but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who
- 2:15:44testifies, because the Spirit is truth.
- 2:15:48For there are three that testify, the Spirit, the water,
- 2:15:52and the blood, and the three are in agreement.
- 2:15:56We accept human testimony, but God's testimony is greater
- 2:16:00because it is the testimony of God which He has given about His
- 2:16:04Son. Whoever believes in the Son of
- 2:16:07God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has
- 2:16:13made him out to be a liar because they have not believed
- 2:16:16the testimony God has given about His Son.
- 2:16:19And this is the testimony God has given us eternal life, and
- 2:16:26this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life.
- 2:16:34Whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
- 2:16:40I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son
- 2:16:44of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
- 2:16:48This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we
- 2:16:52ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
- 2:16:58And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we
- 2:17:04have what we asked of Him. Now here's something really
- 2:17:09important about Christians. If you see any brother or sister
- 2:17:14commit a sin that does not lead to death, I guess blasphemy of
- 2:17:19the Holy Spirit would be one that leads to death.
- 2:17:22You should pray and God will give them life.
- 2:17:27I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death.
- 2:17:32There is a sin that leads to death.
- 2:17:37I am not saying that you should pray about that.
- 2:17:40All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to
- 2:17:47death. We know that anyone born of God
- 2:17:51does not continue to sin. The one who was born of God
- 2:17:57keeps them safe, and the evil 1 cannot harm them.
- 2:18:03We know that we are children of God and that the whole world is
- 2:18:07under the control of the evil one.
- 2:18:10Remember that slavery I was talking about earlier?
- 2:18:12This is where it says it. We know that we are children of
- 2:18:15God and that the whole world is under the control of the evil
- 2:18:19one. We know also that the Son of God
- 2:18:24has come and has given us understanding so that we may
- 2:18:28know Him who is true and we are in Him who is true by being in
- 2:18:34His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal
- 2:18:39life. Dear children, keep yourselves
- 2:18:43from idols. This is the end of the podcast,
- 2:18:48my longest one ever, but it had way too much to cover.
- 2:18:52And if this was beneficial, I mean, it probably should be
- 2:18:56broken up into smaller segments because I know this is a lot.
- 2:18:59But if this was valuable to you, please share it with somebody
- 2:19:03else because this is like the foundation of salvation.
- 2:19:06It's information that everyone needs to know.
- 2:19:09It's about getting sin out of our life and, and just about the
- 2:19:13rewards and the inheritance that got his plan for us and his
- 2:19:17patience and mercy and love that he has for us.
- 2:19:21So if you found this beneficial, please share it.
- 2:19:25If you are not subscribed, please subscribe and next time
- 2:19:29we will cover Psalm 15. Thank you.
