- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, Well, continuing in the sports van, after watching
- 0:05Speaker 1: all these athletes roll into BTIG, I want to ask
- 0:08Speaker 1: my next be lou Terminello, did you know about BTIG
- 0:12Speaker 1: even before step On, Marlbury, Jazz, Chiersholm, Austin Wells, Aaron Boone,
- 0:17Speaker 1: CC Oakley. I mean, the list goes on and on.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Even Hendrick Lungfish was there? Did you know about the
- 0:23Speaker 1: charity organization before I even mentioned it?
- 0:25Speaker 2: I I Alex, good afternoon, Good to be with you guys. Always,
- 0:30Speaker 2: I did not. I did not know about this until
- 0:33Speaker 2: you started texting me with pictures and.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You know how many minutes, many hours I had to
- 0:38Speaker 1: research it, like twenty four because I found out about
- 0:40Speaker 1: the day before myself. So okay, there you go.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I wasn't.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Oh, it was very special because, as you know, to
- 0:47Speaker 1: the Viscardi Center, through a variety of the children's charity,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I've seen athletes contribute and give back in so many ways.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I mean, one of the guys that sticks out is
- 0:56Speaker 1: Buddy Harrelson, Right, So Buddy Harrelson Mets Lord would always
- 1:01Speaker 1: come to the Viscarti Center and contribute his time and
- 1:03Speaker 1: donate his time, and then he gave his tickets to
- 1:06Speaker 1: the Viscari Center to go see these games. So, I
- 1:08Speaker 1: mean he was one of the guys. He and Clark
- 1:11Speaker 1: Gillies always stepped up for a VISCARTI So to see
- 1:14Speaker 1: today's generation doing it too, it pulls at me a
- 1:17Speaker 1: little bit.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You know, No that that is good. And you talked
- 1:20Speaker 2: about two great guys. Unfortunately they're no along with us
- 1:23Speaker 2: in Bud Harrelson and Clark Gillies.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Absolutely, And I was hoping to see JB. But I
- 1:29Speaker 1: know he's prepping for tonight. And of course I don't
- 1:32Speaker 1: know he was at the unveiling of his own boulevard
- 1:34Speaker 1: and see Jalen Brunson Boulevard now West eleventh Street on
- 1:37Speaker 1: sixth Avenue. So guy got a picture of that.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Now, I did not know that.
- 1:42Speaker 4: You are a wealth of information for me to say, afternoon,
- 1:45Speaker 4: So hopefully that. But look, they named the boulevard after
- 1:48Speaker 4: him for a reason. The guy is clutch and they're
- 1:50Speaker 4: gonna need him. They're gonna need everybody at full strength.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I believe last year's series went the way he went
- 1:56Speaker 1: against the Pacers because not everybody was full strength.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I mean, aren't there, Well, well we can start there,
- 2:02Speaker 2: but you got to remember, the Knicks had a two
- 2:04Speaker 2: to two games to nothing lead, and they had a
- 2:07Speaker 2: three to two game lead and they couldn't finish them off.
- 2:11Speaker 2: And again, injuries play a part of it, There's no
- 2:16Speaker 2: doubt about it. We just came off the Celtics series.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Injuries played a part of that. Then Celtic still shouldn't
- 2:22Speaker 2: have blown two twenty point leads. Injuries or not, they
- 2:25Speaker 2: should have won both of those games. That's on them,
- 2:29Speaker 2: that's on the Knicks coming back. The Knicks are healthy.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Any one of these four remaining teams in.
- 2:35Speaker 3: The NBA playoffs, Oklahoma City, I know Oklahoma City blew
- 2:40Speaker 3: them out in the second half last night, the t Wolves,
- 2:42Speaker 3: but any one of these four teams I believe can
- 2:45Speaker 3: win the NBA Championship. Now.
- 2:48Speaker 2: In the Knicks situation, obviously took a Knickson paces they've
- 2:52Speaker 2: played many times in the playoffs. As we've known throughout history.
- 2:58Speaker 2: The Knicks are very healthy. The Pacers are healthy. The
- 3:02Speaker 2: Knicks have a very good coach. The Pacers have a
- 3:04Speaker 2: very good coach. The pace is probably a little deeper
- 3:09Speaker 2: than the Knicks with their roster, but the Knicks have
- 3:13Speaker 2: the home court advantage and the Knicks have the best
- 3:15Speaker 2: player in Jalen Brunson.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So again, you know me, I hate to make predictions,
- 3:22Speaker 3: but if I had to, I'm favoring the Knicks and
- 3:25Speaker 3: this series, and it's gonna be a long series. I
- 3:27Speaker 3: think each team will win on the other team's court
- 3:30Speaker 3: at least once, so I you know, I think that
- 3:35Speaker 3: that's gonna happen. I think it's gonna be a terrific series.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Everybody says it's ty Reese Halliburton and against Brunson. I
- 3:43Speaker 2: don't even think they're gonna guard each other on most matchups.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be Bridges on Halliburton. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and it's gonna be you know, uh, former Toronto teammates
- 3:55Speaker 2: and Anobian Pascal Siakam going against each other. This is
- 3:59Speaker 2: where I think the Knicks could could separate themselves from
- 4:04Speaker 2: the front the Pacers. The Pacers are not a good
- 4:07Speaker 2: rebounding team. Only the Nets and Sixers, and we know
- 4:10Speaker 2: how bad those two teams were were lower as far
- 4:13Speaker 2: as rebounding teams go. I think that I think the
- 4:16Speaker 2: Knicks can can dominate the boards and uh, that could
- 4:21Speaker 2: be the difference. That could be the difference in what
- 4:23Speaker 2: should be a very close series. Now, the pace of
- 4:26Speaker 2: the game is important, Yeah, the very very important UH.
- 4:31Speaker 2: The Pacers, even in postseason where usually the pace slows
- 4:35Speaker 2: down the Pacers. The Pacers like to uh to run
- 4:39Speaker 2: and they've been successful.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And do you think they overwhelmed the Calves.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean, I think they did a couple a couple
- 4:46Speaker 2: of those times, a couple of those games. I don't
- 4:48Speaker 2: know if the Calves and the Caves had injuries. I
- 4:51Speaker 2: mean they missed three guys in one game and in
- 4:53Speaker 2: a short series.
- 4:54Speaker 3: He came do that.
- 4:55Speaker 2: But I think that they caught the Cavaliers a little
- 4:59Speaker 2: off odd with their uh, with their frenetic pace and
- 5:07Speaker 2: so you got you have you have. That's gonna be key.
- 5:11Speaker 2: The Knicks like to play a slow a more slow
- 5:13Speaker 2: down pace, which is fine. Obviously they played into the talent.
- 5:16Speaker 3: On their team. But like I said, the Knicks are
- 5:19Speaker 3: playing it have the home court. And yes, I know
- 5:21Speaker 3: Nicks are only three and three at the Garden, and
- 5:23Speaker 3: we know that the Garden, the home court's not what
- 5:26Speaker 3: it used to be and all that stuff, it's still
- 5:29Speaker 3: I still would rather have the home court advantage and
- 5:31Speaker 3: then except the best player and except the best player.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It's not what it is to me because a lot
- 5:35Speaker 1: of New Yorkers used to be able to go to
- 5:37Speaker 1: these games. New Yorkers can't afford these tickets. We're talking
- 5:39Speaker 1: about this last week. Well, that's right, So.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right.
- 5:41Speaker 2: A lot of outsiders are coming to games, like famous people,
- 5:46Speaker 2: you know, these bandwagon jumper types.
- 5:49Speaker 3: So you're right.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So I do wish New Yorkers have more of a
- 5:53Speaker 1: New York field to it. It could add to more
- 5:56Speaker 1: of a New York field to it to these games.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But that's another you're another right now, and you know
- 6:01Speaker 1: he was at the Subway Series and he's a guy
- 6:03Speaker 1: I definitely want to get to meet cat. I think
- 6:05Speaker 1: Carl Anthony Towns is gonna be a difference maker. Again,
- 6:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel like this Knicks team has
- 6:11Speaker 1: more depth than the Pacers. And that's maybe because we
- 6:14Speaker 1: don't watch the Pacers every night here, right, so we
- 6:16Speaker 1: don't really know how well.
- 6:17Speaker 2: The Pacers go ninety the Knicks usually go seventy. Now,
- 6:21Speaker 2: that doesn't mean the Knicks can can't pull somebody off
- 6:23Speaker 2: the bench that hasn't played. But you mentioned Karl Anthony Towns.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I also believe he is.
- 6:33Speaker 3: The missing piece. Not we know how good he is.
- 6:38Speaker 2: But I think I, like I said when I was
- 6:41Speaker 2: talking about the Pacers getting beat off the boards, I
- 6:44Speaker 2: think Carl Anthony Towns is going to be a difference
- 6:47Speaker 2: maker like that.
- 6:48Speaker 3: I give it.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Like I said, you know, I hate to make predictions.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I'm going to give the Knicks a NIX a slide edge,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and I think that I think they would probably be.
- 6:58Speaker 2: They'll be playing Oklahoma, so I would say, but that
- 7:01Speaker 2: series is gonna go a long way despite what happened
- 7:04Speaker 2: last night.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Let me ask you this about the Pacers because and
- 7:08Speaker 1: I guess we saw that style of play against the Cavs.
- 7:11Speaker 1: But they're not gonna put up forty five threes, right,
- 7:14Speaker 1: They're not that kind of team built on that.
- 7:18Speaker 3: They are not.
- 7:19Speaker 2: They're gonna take a lot of threes, but not not
- 7:21Speaker 2: like not like the Celtics states.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I mean it almost irresponsible, the way the Celtics kept three.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It's a very good word irresponsible. The one thing is
- 7:29Speaker 2: I know Joe Joe Missola won the championship last year.
- 7:33Speaker 2: He coach championship team. The Knicks are facing a better
- 7:37Speaker 2: coach in Carlisle in this round in my opinion.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Carlos legends of this this game. So it's gonna
- 7:47Speaker 1: be a fun head to head right now. So we'll
- 7:50Speaker 1: have to see. And then of course, you know, I
- 7:53Speaker 1: look at I look at Saying with the Knicks for
- 7:54Speaker 1: a second, I look at Josh Hart, I look at
- 7:57Speaker 1: Obie mentioned him. I mean, all these guys are coming
- 8:01Speaker 1: up full strength, and I think that's going to make
- 8:03Speaker 1: a difference. So we'll have to see.
- 8:04Speaker 2: You know, hey, both of these franchises are thirsty to
- 8:08Speaker 2: get back to the finals. The Knicks had him in
- 8:10Speaker 2: the finals since nineteen ninety nine. The Pacers haven't been
- 8:12Speaker 2: to the finals since two thousand. So somebody's going to
- 8:16Speaker 2: break a conference, a conference jinks streak or droughts, whatever
- 8:22Speaker 2: you want to call it.
- 8:24Speaker 3: And so it'll be interesting.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I've always thought the field House in Indiana is like
- 8:29Speaker 1: a house of hers for the Knicks. I don't know
- 8:31Speaker 1: what it is about that place, but they never do
- 8:33Speaker 1: well there. It just it's never done well for them.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Now, another thing, the Knicks have had three days off.
- 8:41Speaker 2: That's a pretty good separation between two series. The Pacers
- 8:46Speaker 2: have had eight days off. We'll see if they're a
- 8:51Speaker 2: little slow in getting out of the gate early on.
- 8:55Speaker 2: That could be a little bit of a factor tonight.
- 8:58Speaker 2: But I don't think much. Like I said, I think
- 9:03Speaker 2: the Knicks coming both games at the Garden like they
- 9:05Speaker 2: did last year and lose both games in Indiana like
- 9:08Speaker 2: they did.
- 9:09Speaker 3: You know what?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Right, Well, well we'll have to see. It'll be it'll
- 9:14Speaker 1: be very interesting to see and we'll be watching closely,
- 9:17Speaker 1: all right. I want to ask you this, Louis as
- 9:20Speaker 1: we move along here, and I mentioned the Subway series
- 9:22Speaker 1: with Towns being there. Another guy in New York that's
- 9:26Speaker 1: really ruffled feathers, I guess you would say, is one Soto.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I think met Fenser just pleased. The media is displeased
- 9:32Speaker 1: with them. ESPN wanted to do something he didn't want
- 9:34Speaker 1: to do that. What is this? Is he building building
- 9:38Speaker 1: as they call a villain ark or is he just
- 9:39Speaker 1: off right now? Being with the Mets? What's going on here?
- 9:42Speaker 2: I think I think I think he's just I think
- 9:44Speaker 2: he's just off. I would say I would say he's
- 9:47Speaker 2: just he's just off. Obviously, the Mets as a team, uh,
- 9:51Speaker 2: even in the Pirate Series where they won two out
- 9:53Speaker 2: of three, even in the Cup Series where they won
- 9:56Speaker 2: two A three.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Alex, they haven't. I mean they haven't really hit all year,
- 10:00Speaker 3: but the last eighteen to twenty games they've hit worse
- 10:04Speaker 3: than that. And now what's Lindor won for his last
- 10:10Speaker 3: twenty three Soto's not hitting and the last ten games.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Or so, Alonzo's batting one seventy five, so and they're
- 10:22Speaker 2: not hitting what runs in the scoring position? Last year
- 10:24Speaker 2: at this time, Sodo was over three hundred with runs
- 10:26Speaker 2: in scoring position entering last night's game, and it went
- 10:30Speaker 2: down on the Entering last night's game, he's hitting one
- 10:33Speaker 2: twenty eight with runs in scoring position.
- 10:35Speaker 3: So I don't know if he's trying too hard.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I know it's interleague, and that's a little different because
- 10:41Speaker 1: you're not going to face the Red Sox and Yankees
- 10:43Speaker 1: every night, you know, every every few games. However, they
- 10:47Speaker 1: have to tune up for the Dodgers. I mean, this
- 10:49Speaker 1: is a big series this weekend. I think everybody's going
- 10:51Speaker 1: to be lying the sodover show. Hey matchup and the
- 10:55Speaker 1: Mets byke come out flat a little bit against the Dodgers.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I don't know, well, I.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Mean they might come out flat. Slump is slump is contagious.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Not hitting his contagious alex. I watched the whole game
- 11:07Speaker 2: last night against the Red Sox, who tried out seven pictures,
- 11:10Speaker 2: and usually when he had to try out seven pictures,
- 11:13Speaker 2: they were all not going to be effective. But the
- 11:15Speaker 2: Mets will put no thread against them, none. And uh,
- 11:21Speaker 2: the last the last three innings, it was one week
- 11:24Speaker 2: ground ball after another.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Now do I think that's going to continue. Of course not.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But again the Sodo, you know, he didn't hustle a
- 11:35Speaker 2: Sunday night, uh you know, but again also Monday night,
- 11:42Speaker 2: Alonso thought he hit one over the Green Monster and
- 11:45Speaker 2: hit off the wall and he got thrown at his
- 11:46Speaker 2: second base. Because I know, I'm want to say he
- 11:48Speaker 2: didn't hustle.
- 11:50Speaker 3: He didn't.
- 11:51Speaker 2: He didn't hustle, but he didn't break break his ass
- 11:55Speaker 2: out the battlest box.
- 11:56Speaker 3: The same thing what happened to Sodo.
- 11:58Speaker 2: He thought his was out also and but he stopped
- 12:01Speaker 2: at least he stopped at first place and then get
- 12:02Speaker 2: thrown out of that second base, right right, So it's
- 12:07Speaker 2: it's an issue that I'm sure that has been taken
- 12:10Speaker 2: care of. Mendoza, Carlos Mendoz and Met's manager said something
- 12:14Speaker 2: very enlightening last night. It'll also be because he's frustrated.
- 12:20Speaker 2: When you're not hitting, and you're a great hitter, a
- 12:23Speaker 2: little frustration might have set in. So so we'll see, Hey, Alex,
- 12:29Speaker 2: they've lost four out of five.
- 12:30Speaker 1: They lost. This is their.
- 12:31Speaker 3: First three game losing streak of the year. Then they're
- 12:34Speaker 3: playing poorly. Unfortunately.
- 12:35Speaker 2: They wasted a good pitching effort by Clay Holmes last night,
- 12:39Speaker 2: a guty pitching effort by Courtis Singer the night before,
- 12:42Speaker 2: and the Red Sox pitching isn't very good. They have
- 12:45Speaker 2: a decent lineup and that's just threwed away two games.
- 12:49Speaker 2: But last year at this time they're on their way
- 12:52Speaker 2: to twelve games under five hundred. At least they're still
- 12:55Speaker 2: at least they're still mind games over so.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Uh and they're they're well in the hunt of this.
- 12:59Speaker 1: By the way, I was thinking, I was telling about
- 13:01Speaker 1: our buddy Ryan Pagano. I said, if it was the
- 13:05Speaker 1: Mets at home and Sono came to this charity event,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I would have got a picture with him, Like I
- 13:08Speaker 1: have no, I have no malice toward the guy. Okay,
- 13:12Speaker 1: I just don't know.
- 13:12Speaker 2: You should have no Yankee fans should he was a
- 13:14Speaker 2: rental the Yankee. Yankee fans know it. It's not like
- 13:17Speaker 2: he came up through the Yankee system.
- 13:19Speaker 3: What would happen if it was Judge? What about Judge
- 13:21Speaker 3: signed with San Francisco? What about Judge? How would Yankee
- 13:24Speaker 3: fields feel? Fans feel? Then? What about Judge did sign
- 13:28Speaker 3: with San Francisco.
- 13:29Speaker 1: That's why I feel like people were less hurt about
- 13:31Speaker 1: Soto because if it happened with Judge, we would have
- 13:33Speaker 1: it would have felt.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Really, uh like a cup punch, you know, Yeah that
- 13:37Speaker 5: that's a yeah, that's a good punch. I agree, So,
- 13:40Speaker 5: uh so we'll see and uh the thing is Alex
- 13:44Speaker 5: and Mets have to feel the ball better. They have
- 13:46Speaker 5: also had a bad fielding stretch, which costs them in
- 13:49Speaker 5: the Subway series big time.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I know, Sunday night, I'm watching on my low phone
- 13:53Speaker 1: after the radio show I do, and then all of
- 13:55Speaker 1: a sudden, uh a lodgia those of the ball away
- 13:58Speaker 1: And you know it's funny. I did remind me of
- 14:01Speaker 1: the drop pop up by Luis Castillo sixteen years ago.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, DejaVu, you know.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Well the drop pop up was was was more devastating
- 14:12Speaker 3: than the other night.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we were packing up to go home and all
- 14:16Speaker 1: of a sudden, the Falcons dropped the Yanks.
- 14:19Speaker 3: With that was I remember that that Friday night.
- 14:24Speaker 1: We'll get talk to a second, but I want to
- 14:26Speaker 1: get back while it's on my mind with the Knicks,
- 14:28Speaker 1: and we'll get to the Yanks as well. But with
- 14:30Speaker 1: the Knicks in Indiana, how well do you remember Reggie
- 14:33Speaker 1: Miller killing the Knicks? But I have to ask you
- 14:35Speaker 1: that before we move on.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Very well, very well. I mean, obviously it was a
- 14:41Speaker 2: big rivalry, and I know you get Reggie Miller as
- 14:47Speaker 2: good a shooter as there was. Now guys have passed him,
- 14:50Speaker 2: Curry has passed him, there's so many. The game now
- 14:53Speaker 2: is more gone to a long you know, the three
- 14:56Speaker 2: point game. But uh, he was a clutch guy. You
- 15:02Speaker 2: talk about a clutch guy, and he tough shots and
- 15:05Speaker 2: even getting away from the Knicks. Now, we played the
- 15:08Speaker 2: Pacers the first she went to the finals and we're
- 15:13Speaker 2: we're up three on the last play.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Are you well you went that game five against Indiana.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I don't remember being ant of that all right, Well
- 15:21Speaker 1: you were, you were.
- 15:21Speaker 2: A young kid, but it was the first year and
- 15:24Speaker 2: that's went to the finals. Richard Jefferson had two free throws.
- 15:27Speaker 2: He was a rookie to clinch that. He just had
- 15:30Speaker 2: to one to clinch the game. He missed them both.
- 15:33Speaker 2: The Pacers got the rebound through it to Reggie. Reggie
- 15:36Speaker 2: threw it in from half corps Alex. It led to
- 15:39Speaker 2: a rule change. It tied the game, and That's ended
- 15:41Speaker 2: up winning in overtime. It led to a rule change.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Reggie Miller's shot came after the buzzer. So now that's
- 15:48Speaker 2: why the uh you see the red border lighting when
- 15:53Speaker 2: it goes to zero. But up until that game, up
- 15:56Speaker 2: until that in that year, you still didn't see it.
- 15:58Speaker 2: And even though I was at the game and I
- 16:00Speaker 2: was sitting in the in the seat, I wasn't. I
- 16:04Speaker 2: can't say, oh he that came after the that came
- 16:06Speaker 2: after the UH buzz Now, thank god we went in overtime.
- 16:11Speaker 2: He got to the finals. But if we had lost
- 16:13Speaker 2: in overtime, that would still be bothering me to this day.
- 16:16Speaker 2: But the Knick said, the Knicks at Pacers rivalry is
- 16:18Speaker 2: gonna be It was great. They played six times in
- 16:21Speaker 2: eight years. They played last year, so there's gonna be
- 16:24Speaker 2: a little carryover from last year. Halliburton is a good player.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I don't believe that he's the most overrated player in
- 16:31Speaker 2: the league. He's an excellent player. They they have a
- 16:35Speaker 2: very good team. Andrew Nebhart is a very good player,
- 16:39Speaker 2: and they have a lot of guys who can play
- 16:40Speaker 2: multiple positions.
- 16:42Speaker 3: This is a good series. This is a very good series.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I know, I don't know if Reggie is going to
- 16:47Speaker 1: be on the call, but I love when TNT puts
- 16:49Speaker 1: them on the call for these things to troll the
- 16:51Speaker 1: Knick fans, you know what I mean, it's funny to me.
- 16:53Speaker 3: I I you know what, that's a good point I want. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 3: he might be on the call.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Because last year he definitely So that was that was interesting.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And this is, ironically, this is TNT's last serials that
- 17:06Speaker 2: they'll ever be after forty years that they'll be doing.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I know. Brian Anderson, a very good play by play man,
- 17:12Speaker 1: was kind of sentimental about that too, because he just
- 17:16Speaker 1: called his last series, you know, not too far long ago,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and now he only has baseball I guess to do
- 17:22Speaker 1: postseason with because.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah he'll and he'll do Big East on Fox, so
- 17:26Speaker 3: you know.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And Big East. Yes, he's always he's always there. A
- 17:29Speaker 1: lot of these guys are always I mean our friend
- 17:31Speaker 1: Kenny Alberts calling the Panthers and Hurricanes. I mean, all
- 17:35Speaker 1: these guys travel. Dave Simms, I'm listening him on the radio.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You know he does basketball as well during the offseason.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I mean, these guys.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Keep busy and hey, Alex, they're not giving up those gigs.
- 17:48Speaker 3: They're not giving up those gigs.
- 17:50Speaker 1: That's why I'll be just say how Kenny deales with
- 17:51Speaker 1: the local role as as the new man and his naview.
- 17:56Speaker 3: He'll be great.
- 17:57Speaker 1: It'll be it'll be fun to watch, all right. While
- 17:59Speaker 1: we're on hockey, I want some breaking news here. The
- 18:02Speaker 1: Isles are pursuing Maple Leafs executive Brendan Shenahan. Now I
- 18:08Speaker 1: knew Brendan as a player. I remember him playing he too,
- 18:10Speaker 1: so it'll be interesting to see if he comes in
- 18:12Speaker 1: to replace Lou Lamarell. Are you here? Did you hear
- 18:14Speaker 1: that for the first time just now or.
- 18:15Speaker 3: What I actually heard it yesterday?
- 18:18Speaker 2: I mean he's been with Toronto a long time, I
- 18:21Speaker 2: think pushing fifteen.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Years eleven years right now, okay, And.
- 18:28Speaker 2: He was a great player for Hall of Fame player,
- 18:30Speaker 2: he was an outstanding you know, he played he played for.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Lou and.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I guess I mean, the only thing is he's coming
- 18:44Speaker 2: from a team.
- 18:45Speaker 3: He's built a good team.
- 18:48Speaker 2: But they've won two playoff series in nine years and
- 18:52Speaker 2: they've just they've had some nightmares.
- 18:55Speaker 3: And what happened to them the other night was.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Inconceivable, losing game seven, uh six to one, especially to nothing.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And we talk about the prime of Austin, I also
- 19:13Speaker 1: think of the prime of one of your guys. I mean,
- 19:16Speaker 1: Marner has been there forever and and and he's not
- 19:19Speaker 1: seen that success. And that's a guy I want to
- 19:22Speaker 1: see succeed as well, because he's a great players.
- 19:25Speaker 2: He's well Alex, Alex, Mitch morn If he's going to succeed,
- 19:30Speaker 2: he's not going to succeed as a Toronto maple Leaf.
- 19:32Speaker 3: He's unrestricted.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I'm going to say it's ninety nine percent chance that
- 19:36Speaker 2: they're not going to resign him. John Tavers is unrestricted.
- 19:42Speaker 2: If you look at their seventh well, as they like
- 19:44Speaker 2: to call him, the corps for Austin Matthews, William Leelander,
- 19:49Speaker 2: John Tavers and Mitch Marner in this they've lost five
- 19:54Speaker 2: to seven Game five, the seventh game five times consecutively.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Those guys have done nothing. Guy, those guys have done
- 20:02Speaker 2: nothing in those seventh in those seven games, and Toronto
- 20:06Speaker 2: scored like one goal in those seven games. They gotta
- 20:08Speaker 2: break up the team. That's why Shanahan's contract is over
- 20:12Speaker 2: at the end of the at the end of June,
- 20:14Speaker 2: I think June thirtieth. But the Islands gotta signed general
- 20:17Speaker 2: managers soon. I mean, it's been a month now and
- 20:20Speaker 2: I haven't signed anybody. And just to back up what Ryan.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Said last week, Ryan Pagano said, don't know when he
- 20:26Speaker 3: joined us on the podcast where he said one of
- 20:29Speaker 3: his contacts saw Lou Lamorello in the Buffalo airport. Yes,
- 20:33Speaker 3: I confirm that that is that was accurate. He was
- 20:37Speaker 3: in Buffalo talking to the Sabers. I can't believe that
- 20:41Speaker 3: to be a full time general manager. But he was in.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Buffalo, and he wouldn't even want to travel right now.
- 20:47Speaker 1: But hey, you know what, if he wants to be
- 20:49Speaker 1: up there, I guess he'd be up there.
- 20:51Speaker 2: So so he's he's one of those guys. He'll he's
- 20:55Speaker 2: gonna die at his desk, as the old saying goes,
- 20:57Speaker 2: he's a hockey guy.
- 20:59Speaker 1: As you know, I was in his office at the
- 21:00Speaker 1: Condown Lands Arena when he was GM of the Devil
- 21:03Speaker 1: and he handed me a Scott Stevens signed jersey, which
- 21:06Speaker 1: I wore that whole game. It was yesterday against the Flyers.
- 21:11Speaker 1: So that's that was a core memory and lou class act.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Well, I know I know his office because I always
- 21:18Speaker 3: been in his office and behind if you open up,
- 21:22Speaker 3: you open up behind the wall, there's four TVs if
- 21:25Speaker 3: you're watching four hockey games. His office was sound proof.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Uh huh, you know it was.
- 21:33Speaker 3: He was quite a guy. He is quite a guy.
- 21:36Speaker 1: We can go down memory lane all day. But but yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 1: lose a loser class act. And I didn't like all
- 21:41Speaker 1: the vitriol he would get from my Olnder fans. But
- 21:43Speaker 1: I shouldn't expect anything less, because when fans are n't happy,
- 21:46Speaker 1: they're gonna st yelling at you.
- 21:47Speaker 3: And you're look, look when fans weren't happy, we just
- 21:51Speaker 3: talked about soda. The guy's been. The guy just got
- 21:53Speaker 3: here and there on them already. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 3: that's the way it goes.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Well, you know he's gonna be expect to perform this
- 22:00Speaker 1: weekend against the Dodgers, so maybe he'll kick it a
- 22:02Speaker 1: eye gear. We'll have to see. But speaking in hockey,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I have made up my mind, Lou. I don't know
- 22:08Speaker 1: where it was down the line, but maybe it's because
- 22:10Speaker 1: I've seen the Hurricanes face off against the Rangers, the Islanders,
- 22:14Speaker 1: and the Devils in the consecutive seasons. Here. I just
- 22:17Speaker 1: hate the Hurricanes, Okay, I want to say it. I
- 22:20Speaker 1: can't believe. I don't mind the Panthers go back to
- 22:23Speaker 1: try and defend their title over the Hurricanes, but there's
- 22:26Speaker 1: some bad blood with Carolina and New York area. I
- 22:29Speaker 1: can't explain it well that you made.
- 22:32Speaker 2: That's a very good point you brought up how they've
- 22:33Speaker 2: beaten every one of their local hockey teams.
- 22:36Speaker 3: In the playoffs in recent years.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I thought last night in Game one, I thought Carolina
- 22:45Speaker 2: was going to was had a good chance to win
- 22:48Speaker 2: the game, and Florida really again imposing their will and
- 22:52Speaker 2: posing their depth. I mean, their fourth line is good,
- 22:55Speaker 2: the first line is good. They can kill penalties.
- 22:59Speaker 3: You know.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Blebrowski is as good as a Hall of Fame goaltender
- 23:03Speaker 2: and Alex I don't think Matthew Cotruk is healthy well.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He hasn't recover from the Four Nations cupany I don't.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I would say he has not, and he hasn't had
- 23:15Speaker 3: his impact on the game like he normally does.
- 23:18Speaker 2: So if he gets healthier. Now we now remember this
- 23:21Speaker 2: guy is so tough. He played he played Game seven
- 23:23Speaker 2: last year withd have broken stern. Who the heck does that?
- 23:27Speaker 3: Right?
- 23:28Speaker 2: That's how tough, That's how tough a guy he is.
- 23:30Speaker 2: They're in good shape now now. The only thing is
- 23:34Speaker 2: they have played in the last three years, sixty six
- 23:38Speaker 2: additional games because they've gone so far in the playoffs
- 23:41Speaker 2: three consecutive years, the finals two years ago when they
- 23:44Speaker 2: lost the finals, last year and they won, and now
- 23:47Speaker 2: in the conference finals with a pretty good shot of
- 23:49Speaker 2: going to the finals again. So when does all that
- 23:53Speaker 2: extra wear and tear on the body playing these these
- 23:56Speaker 2: high pressured playoff games.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Does that? Does that bite him somewhere along the line.
- 24:04Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:06Speaker 1: The Stars are facing that similar thing because they've been
- 24:08Speaker 1: going to conference final, conference final.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Also that that that is correct in that in that series,
- 24:14Speaker 2: I think you're gonna be surprised.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I love the Stars, I love the Stars, but you
- 24:20Speaker 3: know what, something just tells me I love. I mean,
- 24:24Speaker 3: I think Chris Snoblock is a terrific coach, and I
- 24:29Speaker 3: think Edmondon I think it. I think we might see
- 24:31Speaker 3: Edmonton Florida in a in a back to back rematch.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And we didn't think that was happening like months ago.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It seem like it was in the cards because Connor
- 24:39Speaker 1: was injured a little bit. But look at this team,
- 24:42Speaker 1: and again we've seen it before. Where where Connor can
- 24:45Speaker 1: rely on his guys, That's what's happening here. He's got
- 24:47Speaker 1: dry stytle, he's got a couple of other guy he's got.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Look at these he's got to and the Edmonton goalies
- 24:55Speaker 1: really shaped up too.
- 24:56Speaker 3: So so yeah, so so we'll say.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I mean, logic says the stars, but something tells me
- 25:03Speaker 2: I don't. And I really really, I really like Chris
- 25:06Speaker 2: Snopblock as a coach. I don't know what the range.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I don't know. The Rangers never make him head coach,
- 25:11Speaker 3: I really don't, but.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Especially because in that same vein he actually helped Hartford
- 25:17Speaker 1: get to the playoffs. I think they won a championship
- 25:19Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 25:21Speaker 3: And didn't he like coach arranges for like eight or
- 25:24Speaker 3: nine games, right was out with Yeah, and they and
- 25:28Speaker 3: all the players like them.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Again ten games nine ten games a small sample size,
- 25:33Speaker 2: but the guys in the organ in the Range organization
- 25:35Speaker 2: had to know how good Chris Nonbloch was as a coach.
- 25:39Speaker 1: They had to they saw it. I mean they saw
- 25:42Speaker 1: him an epfort. I mean it's it's.
- 25:45Speaker 3: So I I think he I you know, you talk
- 25:47Speaker 3: about difference makers. I think he's a difference maker for Edmonton.
- 25:51Speaker 3: So we'll say something. Tells me again, if you're forcing
- 25:56Speaker 3: me to pick somebody in an Edmonton Dallas series, even
- 25:59Speaker 3: though I'm a huge Dallas not a fan, but like
- 26:02Speaker 3: their team in this series, I did want to pick Edmondon.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I'd love that rematch only because, as we talked about
- 26:10Speaker 1: last year, I literally said to you a week later,
- 26:12Speaker 1: how to kenn Edmington get there again? Now it could
- 26:15Speaker 1: come to the reality up there.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Absolutely, Well I have to see what uh it's both
- 26:22Speaker 1: series are gonna entertaining. The only reason why I would
- 26:24Speaker 1: do for Carolina though, is for Roslovic. And if people remember,
- 26:27Speaker 1: Rosslovic had a huge contribution in that second half of
- 26:30Speaker 1: the season last year with the Range. You've been a
- 26:32Speaker 1: big part of why they got to where they got to.
- 26:34Speaker 1: In addition to Igor, well.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he he was. You're definitely right on there.
- 26:42Speaker 3: And uh Mikola on Florida a former Ranger. You know
- 26:51Speaker 3: all these guys scats throughout the league.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's true. Now, by the way, I want
- 26:55Speaker 1: to give a Woodbridge plug because j D and Sam
- 26:57Speaker 1: are going to be at Woodbridge Week from Saturday on Saturday,
- 27:01Speaker 1: May thirty first, So that's gonna be a fun event.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll get to go to that and whatnot to
- 27:06Speaker 1: get to see those two unite. And you never know
- 27:09Speaker 1: these things good. I don't want to say last, you know,
- 27:11Speaker 1: last project they do together, but you never know. People
- 27:15Speaker 1: gather once then they never know when they get together again.
- 27:17Speaker 3: So I think the last right there, he's the opportunity
- 27:20Speaker 3: for sure.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Maybe maybe we'll wander down the wood Bridge and see that,
- 27:24Speaker 1: because ay, I think Sam's gonna be very involved. I
- 27:26Speaker 1: think he'll be very involved with the hundredth season of
- 27:29Speaker 1: the Rangers organization, There's no doubt about it. I mean,
- 27:31Speaker 1: he is the voice of the I know Kenny's moving in,
- 27:34Speaker 1: but he's always been the voice of the Rangers for
- 27:35Speaker 1: our lifetime. You know so.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Kenny's father was the voice of the Rangers. Yeah, I
- 27:41Speaker 3: forget that. Marvel, Yeah he was.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Well it guess went from Marv to Sam now to Kenny.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Is that how that happened?
- 27:49Speaker 3: Yeah, well it went well. Again. You gotta remember for
- 27:52Speaker 3: about twenty years when we first started it, and again
- 27:56Speaker 3: I've been to the sixties, radio radio was sporadic, m
- 28:00Speaker 3: H and h. Then you know, then Marv became a
- 28:04Speaker 3: voice of New York sports because not like nowadays, you
- 28:08Speaker 3: have series, you have all these radio stations, you have
- 28:10Speaker 3: the streaming, you have cable.
- 28:13Speaker 1: It was Marv, by the way. That's why Mike Breen
- 28:16Speaker 1: calling that series against the Celtics was so fitting because
- 28:18Speaker 1: he's a local kid. First of all, he's a local
- 28:21Speaker 1: New York Knicks announcer now. But the point is he's
- 28:25Speaker 1: got New York in his blood. And I'm so glad
- 28:26Speaker 1: you have to call that final And how proud did
- 28:29Speaker 1: he sound doing that final monologue where he said, well
- 28:32Speaker 1: it is the first time in twenty six years. You know,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he was just so proud to be there for that.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Moment, you know, and he's he's one of these guys
- 28:39Speaker 2: who could do national and doesn't and does it objectively.
- 28:47Speaker 2: You know, you really if you didn't know he was
- 28:49Speaker 2: the Knicks announcer on national game and even if the
- 28:51Speaker 2: Knicks are part of that national telegates, he's not going
- 28:53Speaker 2: to lean on He's not going to lean towards that's
- 28:56Speaker 2: actually yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I mean once the series is over, I could send
- 28:59Speaker 1: to a heart up a heartfelt response to that all
- 29:02Speaker 1: win right there, So it should be interesting. I think
- 29:05Speaker 1: TNT calls. I'm not sure exactly what he's calling it
- 29:08Speaker 1: this week, but I think it is tn T right.
- 29:10Speaker 3: T and T is calling the East. Uh, Breen and
- 29:14Speaker 3: Uh Jefferson and dorisburg are going to be calling Oklahoma
- 29:17Speaker 3: City in Minnesota. But then if Nick swinn, Uh, it's Breen,
- 29:22Speaker 3: Jefferson and Doris Burke on ABC.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Richard Jefferson has become such a great announcer too, Like
- 29:28Speaker 1: he's got a great.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he's he's he's very Uh, he's got a good personality,
- 29:33Speaker 2: he's very listenable.
- 29:36Speaker 3: And uh, he you know, he does a nice job.
- 29:40Speaker 3: And I can tell you one thing and he shows
- 29:42Speaker 3: you how good he is. He is not a nick guy.
- 29:46Speaker 3: He is not he is not a big guy. I
- 29:49Speaker 3: could tell you that, but that shows you how good
- 29:51Speaker 3: he is. You you can't tell that by listening to it.
- 29:55Speaker 1: So that's true. And I know he had a Net.
- 29:57Speaker 1: He's got the Nets background right there.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Does he has that Nicks Nets rivalry in his head
- 30:05Speaker 2: from twenty years ago?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Yeah? No, absolutely, And that was fun. And that's the thing.
- 30:10Speaker 1: It's so funny because as they moved closer to each other,
- 30:13Speaker 1: the Nets and Knicks rivalry seemed to have I don't
- 30:17Speaker 1: know how it's possible, but not been as intense. Maybe
- 30:20Speaker 1: I'm marine into that wrong, but I don't know.
- 30:22Speaker 3: You're not reading it wrong. You're reading it into one
- 30:25Speaker 3: hundred percent correct. You know they've gone to streaks.
- 30:30Speaker 2: When Durant was and Kyrie were there, the Knicks beat
- 30:34Speaker 2: him like eleven times in a row. And now since
- 30:37Speaker 2: the Rant's been gone, the Nets haven't beaten the Knicks.
- 30:40Speaker 3: One time. They was like ten in a row to them.
- 30:42Speaker 2: But if they could ever play in a conference final
- 30:49Speaker 2: that could ignite it something.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Like that, they would need them like that.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Right when they played in two thousand and four, the
- 30:56Speaker 3: Nets swept them, you know, four games to none. But
- 31:00Speaker 3: if you can play a series like say the Knicks
- 31:02Speaker 3: and the Pacers played last year and probably will play
- 31:06Speaker 3: again starting tonight. Then you got that rivalry going.
- 31:11Speaker 1: So you know, let me ask you this, because while
- 31:14Speaker 1: we're talking about all this, I think about how prevalent
- 31:16Speaker 1: the watch party has become. Am I wrong in thinking
- 31:19Speaker 1: when I was a kid and when it was younger
- 31:21Speaker 1: twenty years there was no watch Party. I remember any
- 31:23Speaker 1: of this back.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Then, Alex.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Here again, you're one hundred percent correct. It's funny you
- 31:28Speaker 2: mentioned I was looking at all these watch party locations.
- 31:33Speaker 2: It's to myself, they never had this, They never had
- 31:37Speaker 2: this year years ago, and.
- 31:39Speaker 3: You said twenty years ago, Alex, it's it's even more
- 31:42Speaker 3: recent than that. I mean, they're all over the place,
- 31:46Speaker 3: or you turn the TV on a maple leaf square
- 31:50Speaker 3: for all that. I mean, it's awesome thing.
- 31:54Speaker 1: In all fairness, it was not until twenty fourteen onwards
- 31:57Speaker 1: when the garden really started to heat up again. Because
- 32:00Speaker 1: fourteen you had the Rangers go all the way to
- 32:03Speaker 1: the Stanley Cup against the and then the Knicks made
- 32:08Speaker 1: some changes and finally, for the first time in twenty
- 32:10Speaker 1: twelve they beat the I mean, the garden has been
- 32:13Speaker 1: heating up over the last decade or so, unlike we've
- 32:16Speaker 1: seen it in a little while, and I saw a
- 32:18Speaker 1: post saying, you know how traumatized Nick fans are. It's true.
- 32:21Speaker 1: We're going through a coaching carousel for most of my
- 32:24Speaker 1: most of the two thousands, I remember that.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Yeah. No, and you had some pretty good name coaches
- 32:31Speaker 3: there too. Yet you know you had Larry Brown, you
- 32:33Speaker 3: had had Lenny Wilkins. Yeah, people like that. You know
- 32:37Speaker 3: you're talking about great.
- 32:39Speaker 1: It's amazing. The thing about all the talent that came
- 32:41Speaker 1: through the Knicks, Mellow Marburry, all these guys. And this
- 32:46Speaker 1: is the first time in twenty six years. So either
- 32:48Speaker 1: the league got harder or it just was not managed
- 32:51Speaker 1: well with these stars. I can't tell what it is.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I don't think it was good management.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Firstly, it's it wasn't good management. That's exactly correct.
- 32:58Speaker 2: By the way, I'm a James Dolan fan. I don't
- 33:01Speaker 2: like him, I don't hate him. But all of a
- 33:03Speaker 2: sudden has James doing become a great owner. Now the
- 33:06Speaker 2: Knicks are one series away from playing for an NBA championship.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Yeah, where where's the cellah?
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 33:13Speaker 1: And guess who I saw yesterday? Charles Oakley, who's better
- 33:16Speaker 1: a banned from the Arena this point, you know.
- 33:21Speaker 3: They gotta do something. They gotta they gotta patch that
- 33:24Speaker 3: disagreement on.
- 33:25Speaker 1: They got give m keey to the city and then
- 33:28Speaker 1: maybe maybe that'll be patching up. They got that far,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but it'll be fun. I think the city's electrified. I
- 33:33Speaker 1: thought the Subway series and the Knicks winning in game
- 33:37Speaker 1: five Game six electrified the city as well. And by
- 33:41Speaker 1: the way, do you know they took down the ladders
- 33:42Speaker 1: outside the garden so no one could be climbing up
- 33:44Speaker 1: on these boards anymore.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Well, that was a smart move. That was you don't
- 33:50Speaker 2: want to see somebody falling gether her.
- 33:51Speaker 3: We've not.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I've never seen Seventh Avenue like this after any Nick win.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I've never seen people climbing at top Plaza thirty three,
- 33:58Speaker 1: have you, I've never seen.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Well, the thing is now you go, let's go through
- 34:02Speaker 3: Like the last twenty five thirty years of New York
- 34:06Speaker 3: teams winning.
- 34:08Speaker 2: I was at this is this is almost forty years.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I was at Game six, the famous Game six of
- 34:13Speaker 2: the nineteen eighty six World Series.
- 34:15Speaker 3: In Game seven. Both times the fans were excited, they
- 34:18Speaker 3: were honking their horns, but nobody was climbing up the light,
- 34:23Speaker 3: you know a light tower or you know a street lamp,
- 34:28Speaker 3: or doing stuff or turn it over garbage cans. I
- 34:31Speaker 3: got out of shays Damp parking lot like I normally
- 34:34Speaker 3: did in Game six or seven in nineteen ninety four,
- 34:37Speaker 3: fifty four years without winning the Cup, there was no
- 34:40Speaker 3: There was no craziness outside of the garden. So you're right.
- 34:45Speaker 2: The Yankees win the World Series in two thousand and nine,
- 34:48Speaker 2: there was no craziness outside Yankee Stadium. Now, I think
- 34:52Speaker 2: it's different because somebody was telling me that something that
- 34:55Speaker 2: they were chasing.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Brian Winhert for us of ESPN because he had picked this.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I know, well, and these influencers are being stupid. That's
- 35:03Speaker 1: what's happening right now.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Also, I mean because that never happened in New York.
- 35:07Speaker 3: In other cities it did, but never happened in New York.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I just want to be like Vancouver when we start
- 35:12Speaker 1: burning things down.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Vancouver is a prime example of total craziness and rowdiness.
- 35:20Speaker 3: You're right. And they didn't even win.
- 35:21Speaker 1: The Cup, right, No, they lost the Cup, that was
- 35:25Speaker 1: the thing about it. But go crazy times little anything.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I was on your mind because I tell you, I
- 35:31Speaker 1: feel like we could run down the whole thing.
- 35:33Speaker 3: But yeah, that's the whole thing. No, I mean, obviously, uh,
- 35:40Speaker 3: as you might.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Have heard, there's so much we don't have to say
- 35:43Speaker 1: because the game's unfold you know what I mean. Yes,
- 35:47Speaker 1: networks that say, well, here's all the matchups. I don't
- 35:50Speaker 1: care about matchups. Play the freaking game, you know.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, and thank god we're here now.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Now.
- 35:57Speaker 3: You may have heard about two hours ago the NFL
- 36:00Speaker 3: took a vote, Yes, they banned the tush push. I
- 36:04Speaker 3: am so anti tush push that the fact that they
- 36:08Speaker 3: didn't ban it. I am so disappointed and lost by
- 36:12Speaker 3: two votes of being banned. I think it's I think
- 36:15Speaker 3: it's a gimmick. That's just me.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I think. I think I heard that the Patriots vote
- 36:21Speaker 2: for it, the Lions vote for it. I heard that
- 36:23Speaker 2: the Jets might have voted for it, and the Eagles
- 36:29Speaker 2: voted for it. The Packers did it. We know that,
- 36:34Speaker 2: and uh I think one of the reasons why if
- 36:36Speaker 2: the Jets did. If that's accurate, that the Jets vote
- 36:39Speaker 2: for it, I think not he didn't do. I don't
- 36:41Speaker 2: think last year with the Steels he did. But I
- 36:43Speaker 2: think in his two years with the Bears. They didn't
- 36:46Speaker 2: use it like the like the Eagles did. I think
- 36:49Speaker 2: they used it with with a Fields sixteen times, so
- 36:55Speaker 2: maybe the Jets voted for it just in case.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I don't know, in the wrong the wrong system in Chicago.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I think he'll be better under Aaron Glenn here. And
- 37:07Speaker 1: by the way, very cool that he gets the return
- 37:09Speaker 1: to New York. I remember when he played as a Jet. Okay,
- 37:12Speaker 1: I remember those and can I cracked the joke I
- 37:16Speaker 1: made on air off air to you the other day
- 37:19Speaker 1: because I love Bob was shoosing. But I mean he
- 37:22Speaker 1: has to be used to calling Jets' losses, right, I mean.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Oh, you mean, of course he yes, as you said
- 37:29Speaker 3: to me, because he called the Winnipeg Jets loss in
- 37:31Speaker 3: games sick.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Which was a heartbreak. I thought the Winnipeg Jets had
- 37:35Speaker 1: a momentum on their side because Scheiffel had lost his dad.
- 37:39Speaker 1: He scores the first call. I'm like they have something.
- 37:41Speaker 3: A great game.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Alexy played a great game despite losing his dad suddenly
- 37:45Speaker 2: and unexpectedly that morning.
- 37:48Speaker 1: He did that penalty though that was a That's just
- 37:52Speaker 1: part of the game, right there.
- 37:53Speaker 3: It's part of game. These guys, He's thinking, you know,
- 37:57Speaker 3: always thinking about it. He's thinking about the penalty. What
- 38:00Speaker 3: could you do?
- 38:01Speaker 1: But I tell you I never heard up until you
- 38:04Speaker 1: believe me, Mark Messier and and p K. I don't
- 38:07Speaker 1: know what he was wearing the other day, by the way,
- 38:09Speaker 1: that was well he always does something different. But no,
- 38:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you they were praising the reps. I've never
- 38:15Speaker 1: heard a broadcast theme praising the refs before, so that
- 38:18Speaker 1: was unique. But now you are a sports connoisseurce, So
- 38:22Speaker 1: do you watch the whole thing from you know, soup
- 38:25Speaker 1: to nuts, the pregame, the intermissions, the periods, or do
- 38:29Speaker 1: you flip back and forth?
- 38:31Speaker 2: I flip back and forth sometimes because there's too many things.
- 38:33Speaker 2: There's so many things going on at the same time.
- 38:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Sometimes I'm watching something on TV and I got my
- 38:39Speaker 2: iPad watching the other thing, another game. There's some pregame
- 38:45Speaker 2: shows I won't watch. I just I just don't like
- 38:50Speaker 2: the way to go the show goes. But I do
- 38:53Speaker 2: I watch him start to finish. I can't because there's
- 38:56Speaker 2: just too many things going on. I mean, but there's
- 38:59Speaker 2: a lot of good pre games, pre and post game shows.
- 39:02Speaker 2: I mean, I think the Mets do a good job
- 39:03Speaker 2: with their pre and post Locally, I think I like ESPN.
- 39:10Speaker 2: If I had to pick between ESPN, Slash ABC and
- 39:14Speaker 2: t N T, I like ESPN's better, even though I
- 39:19Speaker 2: think Leam mceun mcew is a terrific host and inside
- 39:27Speaker 2: the NBA.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Okay, those those guys make me laugh.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Maybe they don't contrary in the game sometime, but it
- 39:34Speaker 2: is an iconic show.
- 39:35Speaker 3: It's gonna be interesting to see when it moves over.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Barklay just makes that show every every every every every day,
- 39:43Speaker 1: every day. And they were great for the tournament too.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I love them in March Madness because that when these
- 39:48Speaker 1: when they're Alma maters, get into it, that's when they
- 39:50Speaker 1: get into it too, which is true.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I try. I try to stay on top of everything,
- 39:56Speaker 3: you know, as best I can.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Well, one of thing I was gonna mention was and
- 39:59Speaker 1: I'm wondering if Steve and a Smiths gonna travel to
- 40:01Speaker 1: New York during their off day because obviously he's a
- 40:04Speaker 1: huge nick guy and he's probably gonna be at the
- 40:05Speaker 1: Garden tonight then fly back to New Game too. I'm
- 40:08Speaker 1: pretty sure that's gonna happen.
- 40:10Speaker 3: I'm sure he's in Oklahoma City. I mean even I
- 40:15Speaker 3: don't think it pull that off. I don't think. Well,
- 40:18Speaker 3: if ESPN had the series, probably.
- 40:22Speaker 1: How cool is it? But this is all happening in
- 40:24Speaker 1: our area. Okay, this is all New York City based content.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I love that part of this that we get to
- 40:28Speaker 1: watch it and live it.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Well, we're lucky. We have two teams in each sport,
- 40:34Speaker 3: and we have three teams in and we have two
- 40:37Speaker 3: teams in hockey. I mean two teams in baseball, football,
- 40:40Speaker 3: and basketball, and we have three teams in hockey.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I mean, by the way, they've quietly been winning their
- 40:47Speaker 1: series here, so that that's a positive sign.
- 40:50Speaker 3: And all the guys that they got in the offseason
- 40:52Speaker 3: have contributed, you know, were they Goldschmid, who you know,
- 40:55Speaker 3: looked like he might have been done. I didn't think
- 40:58Speaker 3: he was a Bellinger why. I've always liked as a
- 41:00Speaker 3: player starting to hit as well as fourteen. I don't
- 41:03Speaker 3: know if I don't know if his hitting spreeak is
- 41:05Speaker 3: still going on, but he was. If it is, it's
- 41:07Speaker 3: like around fourteen games. Uh, Matt Streed's been great. I
- 41:11Speaker 3: would not have given him eight years. But what the
- 41:14Speaker 3: hell does that mean? I mean all these guys are
- 41:16Speaker 3: get too many years.
- 41:17Speaker 2: He's pitched great, Devin Williams is going to be fine
- 41:20Speaker 2: once he's starting. They've taken they've taken the pressure off
- 41:24Speaker 2: him now and they put him in right set up,
- 41:26Speaker 2: so he'll be he'll be fine.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Look if you have a Lasagna Lowisega Williams Weaver set
- 41:35Speaker 1: up even for Wollam's in the seventh or something like that,
- 41:37Speaker 1: you have that bridge right there. Yeah, I've been craving
- 41:40Speaker 1: a bridge since I was spoiled a little bit when
- 41:43Speaker 1: when they had the Stanton and the Nelson and the other.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah no, that wasn't all.
- 41:47Speaker 2: That was an all time, all time bullpen leading up
- 41:50Speaker 2: to the greatest relief pitcher in.
- 41:52Speaker 1: The history, even Mariano, you know in ninety six leading
- 41:54Speaker 1: into Wetland. I mean, what a what a group right there? No,
- 41:58Speaker 1: I mean he you know what for all the flak
- 42:01Speaker 1: he gets and he was at this charity went answer
- 42:04Speaker 1: to Boonie, looks like a genius right now, so does Cashman?
- 42:07Speaker 3: Actually, so do you like him? Now? You haven't called,
- 42:10Speaker 3: you haven't called for a spot. I mean, what was
- 42:13Speaker 3: it last year or two years ago? You had Sean
- 42:15Speaker 3: Casey when when when the Yankees hight Sean Casey has
- 42:18Speaker 3: their hitting instructor, you said he's gonna end up being
- 42:20Speaker 3: the manager.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Do you like you like Boone?
- 42:23Speaker 3: Now?
- 42:25Speaker 1: I think that's the one I'd like about him with
- 42:27Speaker 1: most is he protects his players. I like that part of.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Him he does.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Now.
- 42:30Speaker 2: You know you talk about like so not hustling the
- 42:33Speaker 2: favaway heat doesn't come down hard on players, and you
- 42:36Speaker 2: saw it in the past with Stanton with glaber.
- 42:40Speaker 1: To last year they bench Torres after he wasn't running
- 42:43Speaker 1: out of ball. So, by the way, look out for
- 42:45Speaker 1: the Tigers. They look really good right now. I know
- 42:47Speaker 1: they got blown in a couple of days ago, but
- 42:49Speaker 1: they look like a team to be are right now.
- 42:51Speaker 3: I would say that they have a good chance to
- 42:54Speaker 3: win that division. And they irritained their team to keep
- 42:59Speaker 3: an eye on all right.
- 43:00Speaker 1: So we're gonna be in the celebrity road tonight, Louis,
- 43:02Speaker 1: Are we are? We do? We have our ticket treadity
- 43:04Speaker 1: to go or what's going on?
- 43:06Speaker 2: My celebrity row will be I'll be on my recliner.
- 43:09Speaker 2: It costs me nothing, and uh I'll be I'll be
- 43:13Speaker 2: watching watching the game.
- 43:15Speaker 1: All my tell the money a time. You and Gabby
- 43:18Speaker 1: tell me not to pay thousands of dollars just to
- 43:21Speaker 1: get into that car.
- 43:22Speaker 3: No, i'd be let's face it, Alex, these prices are
- 43:25Speaker 3: out of control. But you know, uh, I'll be in
- 43:28Speaker 3: my like I said, I'll be my recliner. I'll enjoy
- 43:31Speaker 3: the game.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I'll go back and forth between the next game, the
- 43:35Speaker 2: Mets game, Mets red Laps game and uh Edmonton Carolina
- 43:39Speaker 2: and I'll have I'll have I'll have my iPad on
- 43:42Speaker 2: and uh, you know, well I'll be going back and forth.
- 43:46Speaker 3: You know.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Well. Yeah, one last thing I got to mention because
- 43:49Speaker 1: the horse racing guy, uh, I guess journalism one. The
- 43:53Speaker 1: other day. I was very sad when Beillmont pulled out
- 43:57Speaker 1: sovereignty from that I was really open virtual Crown three
- 44:00Speaker 1: this year, but so be it. These horses are very fragile.
- 44:04Speaker 1: You know, it takes one bad run and you never know.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I told you why my friends is a horse owner,
- 44:10Speaker 2: and uh, he said, you don't realize not only the
- 44:14Speaker 2: physical but even even with the horse mental uh capacity.
- 44:19Speaker 2: They you know, they're small animals and they understand the
- 44:24Speaker 2: pressure and the intensity of these races. As I told
- 44:27Speaker 2: you he thinks they should be spread out over the
- 44:29Speaker 2: course of like two months.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Oh no, I love that idea. And that's uh I
- 44:33Speaker 1: think so. I think the city's gonna be electric radio city,
- 44:36Speaker 1: as you know, is having a watch party. I would
- 44:38Speaker 1: definitely do that. See, I don't believe on watching those
- 44:41Speaker 1: things with a first and second game, but if they're
- 44:43Speaker 1: in a clinting position, I'll go. I'll spend the ten
- 44:45Speaker 1: bucks to do that because that's where it matters, you know.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's where it was going to be
- 44:49Speaker 1: jumping for joy if they do it.
- 44:50Speaker 3: So, Alex, it's up to you as a decision you
- 44:55Speaker 3: have to make.
- 44:56Speaker 1: We'll see. I just want to see the Knicks at
- 44:58Speaker 1: least win one here when, as you say, split them.
- 45:01Speaker 1: If that's the best, that's not the best case too
- 45:04Speaker 1: and O was best case. But worst case we'll be
- 45:06Speaker 1: going going too here. That would be not good, all right.
- 45:09Speaker 3: I mean that that would be that would put them
- 45:11Speaker 3: really behind the eight ball.
- 45:13Speaker 1: But I want to put a cap on this by saying,
- 45:16Speaker 1: last week I asked you if the Knicks did not advance,
- 45:19Speaker 1: if THEB was on the hot seat. I think the
- 45:21Speaker 1: hot seats a lot cooler now. I think he's got
- 45:23Speaker 1: a safe job.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Alex. His hot seat is now a block of ice.
- 45:28Speaker 3: There is no hot.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Seat, and he's proving himself. I mean, here's a guy
- 45:32Speaker 1: who failed with Chicago, and I keep telling people this,
- 45:35Speaker 1: but they don't want to hear it. Failed with Chicago,
- 45:38Speaker 1: comes here, finds your rejuvenation and becomes a postal winning
- 45:42Speaker 1: winning head coach. I mean, what a story for him too.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely no, He's done a job.
- 45:49Speaker 1: And done it well five years since he's been here.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I can't believe a how fast this is going. It's
- 45:53Speaker 1: been a five year project. I guess so well.
- 45:56Speaker 3: You know they've they made some hy sacks posicians, and uh,
- 46:01Speaker 3: let's put them in this in this position, and it's
- 46:04Speaker 3: time for them, and not only them, for any team.
- 46:08Speaker 2: We talked about it last week with you and Ryan.
- 46:12Speaker 2: You gout sees the opportunity. You gotta sees the moment
- 46:14Speaker 2: because there's no guarantee. There's not guarantee you're gonna be
- 46:18Speaker 2: in this position next year.
- 46:20Speaker 1: There's the same team next year, you know what I mean.
- 46:23Speaker 2: So now you just don't know. So look at the
- 46:27Speaker 2: Celtics and I'll let you go. The Celtics are. I'm
- 46:32Speaker 2: not gonna have titum next year the whole season. They're
- 46:35Speaker 2: not gonna have their best player. They're gonna be a
- 46:38Speaker 2: different team.
- 46:41Speaker 1: No, they are. And one last thing I forgot about
- 46:43Speaker 1: this one. We gotta shout out to the Liberty for
- 46:44Speaker 1: their opening night, and uh, you know, it's fun. They
- 46:48Speaker 1: got a ring, they had their nice ceremony and they
- 46:50Speaker 1: blew out. You know, they won their first game. So
- 46:53Speaker 1: maybe maybe meeting Sabrina was was a good idea because
- 46:58Speaker 1: then they're gonna go back. They might go back to
- 47:00Speaker 1: back this year. Who knows. I don't know.
- 47:02Speaker 3: But AS's wife said, this is the first of many.
- 47:07Speaker 1: All right, And look at that talk about another guy
- 47:09Speaker 1: that took over a team and move him from Westchester,
- 47:13Speaker 1: put him in Barkley's and it's changed everything for them.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Yeah, no, absolutely, And he's the.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Reason why Sabrina came in five years ago as a
- 47:20Speaker 1: draft draft pick. And now look at her, she's she's
- 47:23Speaker 1: the rock star in the city.
- 47:25Speaker 3: And then drawing huge crowd.
- 47:28Speaker 1: That's it.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Now.
- 47:29Speaker 1: One other thing I want to tell you is, you
- 47:31Speaker 1: know the New York Hoops Hall of Fame have their
- 47:35Speaker 1: inductees announced. Did you know that.
- 47:39Speaker 3: I did not hear.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Well one of them happened with the Liberty. One of
- 47:43Speaker 1: them happened to be the Liberty. And then I got
- 47:45Speaker 1: it from a good source. Here are from Mike Cohen,
- 47:51Speaker 1: who's been posting about this. Are you ready the class
- 47:53Speaker 1: of twenty twenty five, Suberd, Richard Kirkland, Stephan Marbury, Ron
- 48:05Speaker 1: Niclario Mohicks. That I know some of these names must
- 48:10Speaker 1: ring about Shelley Snyder, the Liberty of last year, the
- 48:15Speaker 1: women's team from n YU who had a big run
- 48:17Speaker 1: this year also, and then Chuck Stobell and John Piquette.
- 48:24Speaker 2: So there, okay, so he's gone, he's gone back into
- 48:27Speaker 2: history a little bit.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Now. Didn't n YU men have a good year this year? Also?
- 48:32Speaker 3: I thought n YU men had a good also had.
- 48:34Speaker 1: If I could no it was it was a women
- 48:37Speaker 1: and Colombia also had a really good year too, the
- 48:39Speaker 1: Columbia women.
- 48:40Speaker 3: So that, yes, that's right, yeah.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Good stuff. I yeah, Well the hoops hal is back
- 48:48Speaker 1: up and running. They had a bit of I but
- 48:50Speaker 1: it's it's good. And I just met Stephan Marbury yesterday,
- 48:53Speaker 1: so what kind of full circle right there?
- 48:56Speaker 2: Thank thank you Stephan Marbury. Yes, I thought it made
- 48:59Speaker 2: the greatest trade that's history.
- 49:01Speaker 1: And I know, and I'll tell you. I remember him
