- 0:00Speaker 1: On this episode of Four All Nerds, we discussed a
- 0:04Speaker 1: film that I cannot believe I have to say I
- 0:07Speaker 1: actively hated trash and what's up, y'all? Welcome back to
- 0:23Speaker 1: another episode of the four All Nerds show. It's your Boy,
- 0:26Speaker 1: DJ Ben I mean aka Hallou Jordan Ready Hater won
- 0:31Speaker 1: the Bronze Shame Lion, Old Richie Big Fetch, Daylight Troll,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the Legend of Snapper Vants here in the Spaceship Tonight,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and as always, I'm joined by.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Tatiana King d Grin that was a tech also known
- 0:45Speaker 2: as Gucci Mane, the Lorean Dark Chocolate Phoenix, Tatiana Kang,
- 0:49Speaker 2: The Conqueror, doc Achi, Tessarak Thompson, The Book of Ashanti,
- 0:54Speaker 2: and The Ting of the North.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Actually, somebody commented on our YouTube they're talking about our review,
- 1:02Speaker 1: well mainly your review of The Long Walk, and they
- 1:04Speaker 1: said there was a bag of vance character up in
- 1:06Speaker 1: that joint, which made me bring back slap of Vans.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Talking about.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Sure it a magical negro kind of but not really
- 1:19Speaker 2: because everybody got the bad ones.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you can still be a magical negro
- 1:23Speaker 4: and catch a bad one.
- 1:24Speaker 2: That's true, though magical negroes make you well, I guess
- 1:27Speaker 2: that maybe not the negro, but.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Absolved you of counting the bad one.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Look at the great magical Negro of all time, John Coffee.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You know, boss, I'm all tired. Yeah, what.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Happened to him? You know everybody else makes it out great?
- 1:45Speaker 1: John Coffee gotta roll over and die.
- 1:49Speaker 4: No, you don't understand.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I actually saw that film when I was incarcerated, so
- 1:54Speaker 1: that became a running joke for us.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I'm dog tired.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Roll over to face the wall, small, Some don't tie
- 2:03Speaker 1: rolled over and face the wall, because that's what he
- 2:05Speaker 1: always did.
- 2:05Speaker 4: He always rolled over, face the wall. Some don't time.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.
- 2:11Speaker 4: All right, all right, this is.
- 2:15Speaker 1: For all nerds faults. I know, for a lot of
- 2:18Speaker 1: y'all out there. It has been a crazy week, you
- 2:21Speaker 1: know what I mean. We are out here seeing people
- 2:23Speaker 1: mourning the death of Jason and Freddy.
- 2:26Speaker 4: You know, it's wild, fam.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You know, I have just seen people out here like, yo,
- 2:32Speaker 1: my fisto got killed.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Dog, You know what I mean? People upset?
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's crazy, yo, ma, fam.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yeah, you know I didn't really you know, that was
- 2:46Speaker 4: a problem.
- 2:47Speaker 3: That's all we got for y'all.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but I can say on that, you know, that
- 2:50Speaker 4: was interesting.
- 2:52Speaker 3: The more interesting news. I want to say this, and
- 2:54Speaker 3: this has nothing to do with what you just said.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Y'all fuck with us heavy, right, Like y'all like what
- 3:02Speaker 2: you hear. You know that we're bringing you reviews, interviews,
- 3:06Speaker 2: and just a point of view that you don't see
- 3:08Speaker 2: anywhere else on the internet. When it comes to thinking
- 3:11Speaker 2: about fandom and entertainment from us, I say people, not
- 3:14Speaker 2: just people. Call it black folks who got something to say,
- 3:18Speaker 2: and I would love to see us go to higher heights, right.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I want y'all to push up on some of these folks.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And when I say these folks, I mean hell at
- 3:27Speaker 2: this point, Tyler Perry at this point. But I want
- 3:29Speaker 2: you to push up on some of these people who
- 3:31Speaker 2: got money and studios and access and just be like bruh.
- 3:34Speaker 3: You know, would be cool if y'all.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Put four all nerds on your network, whether it's a
- 3:39Speaker 2: TV network, whether it's a larger radio network, whatever it is.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I mean, we really should be on TV. You know,
- 3:44Speaker 3: you get this, Melani right here.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But the fact is, I think that a lot of
- 3:49Speaker 2: the blessings we've gotten up till this point has been
- 3:53Speaker 2: because the people who have supported us, who have been
- 3:55Speaker 2: loud and vocal, who have said, hey, no, I want
- 3:57Speaker 2: you to come through, who have told other people about us,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and then people find out. And I just want to
- 4:03Speaker 2: reach out again to everybody listening, everybody who supports us,
- 4:06Speaker 2: everyone who's ever bought a shirt or shared the show,
- 4:09Speaker 2: to continue to do that, to be loud and vocal
- 4:12Speaker 2: about us. You see an opportunity where people are looking
- 4:15Speaker 2: for people like us me and Ben.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I mean were for podcasters.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You're looking for people who are or they say, oh,
- 4:21Speaker 2: we looking for people who want to put on TV
- 4:23Speaker 2: so they could talk their opinion about Star Wars or
- 4:25Speaker 2: whatever the fuck it is. I'm looking for y'all support,
- 4:28Speaker 2: and y'all help. Y'all ready do it, but I'm just
- 4:30Speaker 2: gonna say, pour it on, pour it on.
- 4:32Speaker 3: This is my APB to everybody else. Please let's do this.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Let's do this together like we do it ourselves too.
- 4:39Speaker 2: But like I really see the power in our community
- 4:41Speaker 2: and the power and a fan fam, and I just
- 4:43Speaker 2: want y'all to continue to lift us up and help
- 4:47Speaker 2: to praise us, because it helps us get to hire heights,
- 4:50Speaker 2: It helps us to make sure that we get the
- 4:51Speaker 2: platform for y'all and make sure that y'all voices is
- 4:54Speaker 2: heard as well.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And also, I'm just going to say thank you to
- 4:57Speaker 1: everybody who has been hitting that follow that like that's
- 5:00Speaker 1: spride button, especially on YouTube, because while I feel our
- 5:03Speaker 1: malnated faces do need to be on television, I also
- 5:06Speaker 1: feel that owning our own little network is also great.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So the more that you hit this follow and this
- 5:12Speaker 1: subscribe button, the more we build up the fan fan,
- 5:15Speaker 1: the more we build up the four All Nerds network.
- 5:18Speaker 4: And that's what we need. So please, you know, be
- 5:21Speaker 4: vocal when you tell people about us. Make sure you
- 5:23Speaker 4: tell him hit that like and subscribe. If you haven't
- 5:25Speaker 4: hit that like and subscribe, make sure you do that.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Make sure you follow us on all the audio platforms
- 5:30Speaker 4: out there. Leave a review five stars on Apple Music,
- 5:34Speaker 4: all Apple podcasts, whatever they call it.
- 5:36Speaker 2: These guys we got We got at least a thousand
- 5:39Speaker 2: reviews on Apple Word, on Apple Pockets where it's straight
- 5:42Speaker 2: five stars. They've been five stars for like ten years straight.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And I have mentioned Tyler Perry because you know you
- 5:46Speaker 2: and bjkick salute to him.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think he goes I don't think he.
- 5:50Speaker 4: I don't think he funded this show.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Y'all comments about Tyler Ferry comic books, you know, universes.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I don't know if he's fucking yeah, I.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Don't know that. That was a moment though.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Shout out to BJ Kicks and are still unnamed podcasts.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Everybody has been hitting us up with all kind of
- 6:06Speaker 1: dope names. We're gonna have to choose from one yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 1: soon enough. But thank you to BJ Kicks, thank you
- 6:11Speaker 1: to everybody who's been watching our monthly review of comics,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and especially that Tyler Perry universe of comics that we
- 6:19Speaker 1: created in that moment, because that was magical.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I've been watching. It's a good show. I like when
- 6:23Speaker 2: y'all talk. How y'all talking. I like y'all are funny,
- 6:26Speaker 2: all the funny two talking about comics and you know,
- 6:29Speaker 2: giving us shit that we need to be reading and
- 6:31Speaker 2: checking out.
- 6:31Speaker 4: So yeah, GJ.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Reminds me of Mellow, like someone I've met where it's
- 6:35Speaker 1: like I just instantly, you know, had that vibe with
- 6:38Speaker 1: him or like you you know, like saying thing where
- 6:40Speaker 1: it's like and it's always been weird for me when
- 6:42Speaker 1: I meet these people as a grown man, and I'm like, oh,
- 6:45Speaker 1: this dude's you.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Know, that's really a good person, really a good friend. Yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really interesting to do that, but he's definitely
- 6:52Speaker 1: one of them. So yeah, Well that we talked about
- 6:55Speaker 1: those reviews, and today we've got another review.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Man. Oh no, y'all, I'm.
- 7:08Speaker 1: This is going to be a full on spoiler review.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay away from a lot of if there
- 7:14Speaker 1: are any spoilers that aren't in trailers, I've been noticing
- 7:17Speaker 1: the trailers yet a little bit longer and longer.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Now. Yeah, the embargo will be up by the time
- 7:22Speaker 4: this episode drops.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Okay, okay, And that means you're saying, well, fuck you
- 7:26Speaker 2: because I haven't seen it yet.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna let you know what we do.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to, but I'm going this is one.
- 7:32Speaker 1: This is something like, this is going to be an
- 7:34Speaker 1: interesting review, and I'm gonna I'm gonna preface it all right.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm talking about the film One Battle after Another, starring
- 7:41Speaker 1: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tianna Taylor, Gina Hall, Chompin who I did
- 7:49Speaker 1: not know which I'll walk up and that joint was
- 7:50Speaker 1: in its.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Chasing who plays the the biracial daughter of Leo and Tianna,
- 7:57Speaker 2: which I just want to say, her name is fucking fire.
- 8:00Speaker 4: You know where her name came from? No? What? All right?
- 8:03Speaker 1: I just found this out before a while I was
- 8:05Speaker 1: ready reading about this film, and this is a true story.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Someone had the leak.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Her parents named her after doctor Chase Meridian, who's a
- 8:14Speaker 1: Batman villain from.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Not only have My Dead asked.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm not done, doctor Chase Meridian, who's one of the
- 8:22Speaker 1: Batman villains from like the one with mister Freeze, Like
- 8:26Speaker 1: you're not even one of the good joints. And then
- 8:28Speaker 1: where do you think Infinity comes from? If her name
- 8:30Speaker 1: comes from Batman.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Some DC related tone?
- 8:34Speaker 4: Now, I think, come.
- 8:35Speaker 5: On, man, what was what was popping in Infinity around
- 8:39Speaker 5: that time?
- 8:39Speaker 4: Where were people going? What movie said? Infinity? To Infinity and.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yes is named as a combination combination of Batman villain
- 8:54Speaker 1: and to Infinity and Beyond.
- 8:56Speaker 4: True story. Her real name is Chase Infinity Paine.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Her parents hipp or I mean she's young, too younger, She's.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Young, way, way younger.
- 9:04Speaker 1: The funny thing is those movies came about five years
- 9:07Speaker 1: before she was even born, so they were just holding
- 9:09Speaker 1: on to that, like you know, they just loved them
- 9:12Speaker 1: like that.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I mean, okay, Orange story aside, I still think as
- 9:16Speaker 2: a fire.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Can put in fire, it's Chase in cinity pain. Like
- 9:21Speaker 1: someone was saying, al read it. If she ever starts
- 9:23Speaker 1: on like a hell Raiser movie, she just needs to
- 9:24Speaker 1: go by Chase pain, you know, is about that was
- 9:30Speaker 1: really good?
- 9:30Speaker 3: All right, So you saw one battle of another.
- 9:32Speaker 2: First of all, I have really been looking forward to
- 9:35Speaker 2: this film because the stars, my faith Leo DiCaprio of course,
- 9:39Speaker 2: and my other fave, my my patronist, Tianna Taylor. So
- 9:46Speaker 2: matronis whatever where it is, girl.
- 9:51Speaker 3: That's my girl, that's my you know.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I love her from an art perspective, love her from
- 9:55Speaker 2: fashion and just everything.
- 9:56Speaker 1: She does, like incredibly beautiful woman that too, so super talented,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, just everything.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Yeah, when it comes to Tiana, I'm no better than
- 10:05Speaker 3: a man.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But that being said, like I'm what I am until
- 10:11Speaker 2: you texted me earlier today, all right.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Saying I remember when I first saw the trailer. I
- 10:18Speaker 1: can't remember what we saw for, but I was like ooh,
- 10:20Speaker 1: And I remember even seeing the trailer though. My first
- 10:23Speaker 1: thought when I was like, oh, this is dope. And
- 10:24Speaker 1: then when they said directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, that
- 10:27Speaker 1: was my first time.
- 10:28Speaker 4: I was like, we'll.
- 10:29Speaker 3: See what Paul Thomas Anderson do that.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He's done a lot of great things, but then he's
- 10:34Speaker 1: done some mid stuff too, and then a lot of
- 10:35Speaker 1: his I won't say.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Mid because let me see what he's done.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Magnolia is one of my favorites. Buggie Knights. One
- 10:41Speaker 1: of my favorites is I never finished. There will be
- 10:44Speaker 1: Blood because I just was done.
- 10:46Speaker 2: He's a music video director too, yep, noticing okay, shout
- 10:50Speaker 2: out too long walk. You have these music video directors
- 10:53Speaker 2: who are doing films to varying degrees of success, but
- 10:56Speaker 2: they really jumping heavy into films.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know Paul Thomas you can't. I mean,
- 11:00Speaker 1: he's been doing movies forever. He is a movie dude.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Like he's done. You know, this is his tenth film.
- 11:06Speaker 1: He's not jumping in like this. But man, no, no,
- 11:10Speaker 1: he did you know Tom Cruises and man no he is.
- 11:12Speaker 3: This is like yeah, yeah, but that was also like
- 11:14Speaker 3: ten years ago.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, but he's been steady doing movies ever since.
- 11:17Speaker 1: He don't don't as far as I know, he's not
- 11:19Speaker 1: jumping back in unless it's like some big artists. That
- 11:22Speaker 1: what I'm said, I'm looking go ahead. Continuing that being said,
- 11:25Speaker 1: Paul Thomas Anderson PTA is revered as a filmmaker. He's dope.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I was excited. I love Leonardo DiCaprio,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I loved Tianna Taylor. The premise of this revolutionary I
- 11:39Speaker 1: didn't know the exact story until I got into the theater.
- 11:42Speaker 1: That it's a story of two retired revolutionaries who have
- 11:45Speaker 1: you know, been past the prime, and then their daughter
- 11:48Speaker 1: gets into some trouble from an enemy from their past
- 11:51Speaker 1: and they have to come back. That's the basic premise.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So I was.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Thinking going into the movie, this would be a movie
- 11:57Speaker 1: about you know, one battle after another about revolution you know.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Them chasing them down all of a sudden and you know,
- 12:03Speaker 2: like sucking up. They peace and now they're trying to
- 12:05Speaker 2: get They're like, yo, they're just trying to live their life.
- 12:07Speaker 3: That's washed individuals kind of. That's what I got out
- 12:13Speaker 3: of it.
- 12:13Speaker 1: So, Okay, sitting down in the theater, you know, I'm excited.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It's a big giant imats for at the Lincoln. It's incredible,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you know how it is. And it starts off and
- 12:26Speaker 1: it looks beautiful, and the very beginning of the film,
- 12:30Speaker 1: the intro is Tiana scoping out this immigration detention center, okay,
- 12:36Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh fitting, and I'm about old right,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, this is about to get lit. And
- 12:41Speaker 1: this doesn't you know that that point is not taking
- 12:43Speaker 1: place in modern top This is a flashback to the past.
- 12:46Speaker 1: So I'm like, all right, this is lit. And then
- 12:47Speaker 1: they're breaking into the detention center and her Leo and everybody,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and I'm like, wow, this movie is really brave to
- 12:54Speaker 1: be doing this type of stuff and showing people actually
- 12:56Speaker 1: doing it right then.
- 12:58Speaker 4: And then two minutes later I'm like, wait, what's going on?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Oh no?
- 13:01Speaker 1: And then ten minutes later I turned my partners I
- 13:04Speaker 1: think I hate this film, and then it.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Just got worse and worse.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And I don't normally, as someone who's worked in Hollywood,
- 13:15Speaker 1: I believe that every film being made is a miracle
- 13:17Speaker 1: because it's just a very difficult system for creative individuals
- 13:22Speaker 1: and for creativity to flourish that and so I don't
- 13:26Speaker 1: ever call things trash. That being said, I feel that
- 13:31Speaker 1: one battle of another is one of the most cynical,
- 13:35Speaker 1: and I'm a person who despises cynicism, like I think
- 13:38Speaker 1: it is one of our biggest problems as a society,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and I definitely cannot stand seeing it from a sixty
- 13:45Speaker 1: five year old white man.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Without saying, plot lines, what what did.
- 13:53Speaker 3: It do within fifteen minutes that had you question in
- 13:56Speaker 3: your life?
- 13:57Speaker 4: Like, oh my god, it was?
- 13:59Speaker 3: It was, like what happened?
- 14:02Speaker 1: There's a lot of very questionable things done with two
- 14:05Speaker 1: of the black women in this film, including Tianna Taylor
- 14:09Speaker 1: and another woman whose name I will reveal right here
- 14:13Speaker 1: as Jungle. And this black woman, who is supposed to
- 14:18Speaker 1: be a strong revolutionary, is quite proud to call herself
- 14:21Speaker 1: Jungle an attempt to rob a bank in a mini
- 14:27Speaker 1: skirt and heels whilst streaming I'm on doing some set
- 14:31Speaker 1: of off shit, and look at my face because I'm
- 14:35Speaker 1: a strong black woman, Jungle Pussy, you should see my face.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm a revolutionary trying to take down the system. But
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna pull my mask off so you can see
- 14:45Speaker 1: my face while I'm robbing a bank in high heels
- 14:49Speaker 1: and a mini skirt.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Well, listen. In Jungle Pussy's defense, I don't know it's
- 14:53Speaker 3: the same.
- 14:54Speaker 2: There is a rapper called Jungle Pussy, like an actual
- 14:56Speaker 2: real life rapper, but I don't think they're on the
- 14:59Speaker 2: same what there really is a life jungle.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And that's something I could expect, But for a revolutionary
- 15:06Speaker 1: to get up in front of a room full of
- 15:08Speaker 1: white people and call themselves Jungle Pussy and be proud
- 15:12Speaker 1: of this while again they're the only one in high heels.
- 15:18Speaker 1: The bake robbery goes a rise, most dude, and they're
- 15:20Speaker 1: forced to run, as you would expect at some point
- 15:23Speaker 1: you're going to do. You're wearing a high heels and
- 15:27Speaker 1: a tight mini skirt.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Running.
- 15:30Speaker 4: There ain't no running why?
- 15:33Speaker 3: And that's supposed to be like an art film or
- 15:35Speaker 3: something like.
- 15:36Speaker 1: At certain point, I thought it was supposed to be satire,
- 15:38Speaker 1: you know, But then I'm reading about it and it's
- 15:40Speaker 1: never mentioned that this is supposed to be satire.
- 15:42Speaker 4: You know.
- 15:43Speaker 1: People have been comparing it to Doctor Strangelove, and I
- 15:47Speaker 1: saw somebody say it was a mix of Doctor Strange Love,
- 15:50Speaker 1: which is a Stanley Kubert film. Doctor Strange Love is
- 15:52Speaker 1: a famous Stanley Kubert film. It's black and white. It's
- 15:56Speaker 1: basically about nuclear war it's called Doctor Strange Love or
- 15:59Speaker 1: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb,
- 16:02Speaker 1: And it's a pure satire.
- 16:03Speaker 4: It is a brilliant film.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Well, he names Kubrick as one of his inspirations as
- 16:09Speaker 3: a filmmaker.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, in general, Kubrick confluences everyone. And I'm
- 16:13Speaker 1: not sure that the satire I missed it. And again
- 16:19Speaker 1: I didn't find the satire as much as I found
- 16:21Speaker 1: it cynical. I do not enjoy seeing films about revolution
- 16:27Speaker 1: where it is, oh, well, this is how it's going
- 16:32Speaker 1: to be, there is no hope. I do not enjoy
- 16:39Speaker 1: seeing films about revolution where black women are over sexed maniacs,
- 16:46Speaker 1: and yet they come from a long as we've seen
- 16:48Speaker 1: in the trade, from a long line of revolutionaries. Her
- 16:54Speaker 1: mother tells Leonardo that she he is not fit to
- 16:58Speaker 1: be with her. But for me, Tiana and Leo are
- 17:00Speaker 1: both insane socio paths in this film, And I mean
- 17:05Speaker 1: Tiana is even like Tiana is just like an over
- 17:08Speaker 1: sex maniac.
- 17:10Speaker 2: It is I mean, but they show her shooting that
- 17:13Speaker 2: machine gun with her belly out.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Like fucking for the movie was just so they could
- 17:18Speaker 4: have that image.
- 17:21Speaker 3: A reason behind it Okay.
- 17:23Speaker 1: That is another problem of this movie. There's no real
- 17:24Speaker 1: reason behind anything. There is no cause and effect. Things
- 17:28Speaker 1: happen at one point after they are at the very
- 17:32Speaker 1: This is all in the first fifteen minutes after they
- 17:35Speaker 1: rob this, uh not rob after they break into this
- 17:37Speaker 1: detention center. They break into the detention center. They're driving
- 17:41Speaker 1: away in their glory. Tiana and Leo are kissing in
- 17:45Speaker 1: the back seat and Tiana asked him for some reason,
- 17:48Speaker 1: streaming as she asked him, do you only fuck with
- 17:51Speaker 1: me because you like you like black women? Or do
- 17:54Speaker 1: you like black women you like me or something like that. Remember,
- 17:57Speaker 1: they broke up a detention center. What this has to
- 18:00Speaker 1: do with anything, I don't know. But at the same time,
- 18:02Speaker 1: Jungle Pussy is in the front seat with a machine
- 18:04Speaker 1: gun shooting it out the window. Like but there's no
- 18:10Speaker 1: repercussions from this. There's no scene where the cops pull
- 18:12Speaker 1: up on them as a black woman is.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Driving down the street shooting a machine gun out the window.
- 18:16Speaker 3: You mean, its just scenes to look cool. It It
- 18:20Speaker 3: just seems to look cool. Okay, what about Okay, Sean Penn,
- 18:24Speaker 3: Regina Hall, Oh my.
- 18:26Speaker 1: God, Sean's character har what Harris vanishes about thirty minutes
- 18:32Speaker 1: in the movie, and it's one of those things where
- 18:33Speaker 1: it's like they don't even give a shit to let
- 18:35Speaker 1: you know what happened to him.
- 18:36Speaker 4: They just expect you to forget that what Harris was
- 18:37Speaker 4: in this movie, Oh shit.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Like there's literally a scene in him being shot at
- 18:41Speaker 1: and putting on a gas mask, you know, because there's
- 18:43Speaker 1: fire all around him, and he puts on the gas mask,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and that's the last time we see you with Harris.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I hated this film.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I cannot think of a film that I've hated this
- 18:54Speaker 1: much in a long time. There's a trans character who
- 18:57Speaker 1: portrays the rest of the characters. Leonardo DiCaprio mates a
- 19:01Speaker 1: silly dadamn joke because he's too you know, you can't
- 19:04Speaker 1: get with what his daughter is living through these days,
- 19:07Speaker 1: and then his daughter trans friend betrays her.
- 19:10Speaker 4: I fucking hate this movie. Oh no, I hated it.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Not to see it next week in every level possible.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I hated that Regina Hall is under using that she
- 19:23Speaker 1: has to do her Damn Regina Hall crying face, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: again and again through all these movies. I really cannot
- 19:32Speaker 1: stand what was done to Tianna Taylor's character in that
- 19:34Speaker 1: jungle puzzy ship and like to be in a room
- 19:37Speaker 1: a theater full of mainly white critics and hear them
- 19:40Speaker 1: laughing at when did they They laughed so many times
- 19:45Speaker 1: when I was cringing.
- 19:46Speaker 3: So it felt like we were the joke.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It felt like and revolution was a joke, and that
- 19:53Speaker 1: black people are just over sex monsters. It's a black people,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Regina Hall ain't over sex. It's either that or they're magical.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Benicio del Toro shows up as a magical lab. He
- 20:07Speaker 1: has one of the best roles. But he is a
- 20:09Speaker 1: magical Latin who saves these white people from their ignorance.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Benicio del Toro this movie.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Yes, Benicio del Toro.
- 20:17Speaker 3: I mean did he do any sense? Did he do anything?
- 20:20Speaker 1: I mean he's literally called a sense, which is also weird. Yeah,
- 20:23Speaker 1: which is also weird. I mean he you know, he
- 20:25Speaker 1: is a sense. You know he does he's a teacher
- 20:28Speaker 1: at the end of the day.
- 20:29Speaker 4: No, he's a dojo.
- 20:29Speaker 1: He teaches us at a door. But so he is
- 20:32Speaker 1: a sense. But he is also just this magical Latin
- 20:35Speaker 1: who saves the day when they need him and it vanishes.
- 20:39Speaker 3: What's it?
- 20:41Speaker 4: Fuck? I hate this film?
- 20:42Speaker 3: How long was the film?
- 20:43Speaker 4: Damn near three hours?
- 20:45Speaker 1: Every shot felt like it was ten seconds too long,
- 20:48Speaker 1: every single Why.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Is this so long that someone didn't didn't pull the
- 20:52Speaker 2: reins on that one?
- 20:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's his most expensive movie ever. I mean
- 20:56Speaker 1: obviously with people like Leonardo, you're spending money. I just
- 20:59Speaker 1: saw an ad during money in that football, So they
- 21:01Speaker 1: really are trying to make this movie into something that's
- 21:02Speaker 1: not going to be. I can promise you that there
- 21:04Speaker 1: is no way this shit hits because it's such a
- 21:07Speaker 1: baiting switch. There's not one battle after another in this film.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It's going to be straight like, not even a there's
- 21:17Speaker 1: not even there's not even really.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Like are therey good action scenes?
- 21:25Speaker 4: No? There is one cool.
- 21:29Speaker 1: On Imax is one moment of it wasn't even car
- 21:31Speaker 1: chasers trying to like them running away in a car
- 21:33Speaker 1: look kind of cool because it's on Imax, But it
- 21:35Speaker 1: wasn't anything that I'm like.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Oh, ship, I have got to see that secrets again at.
- 21:40Speaker 3: What you already said, the dialogue was I guess horrendous,
- 21:42Speaker 3: But how is that horrendous? Just I mean based on
- 21:46Speaker 3: what you said that they'd be saying or can't?
- 21:48Speaker 4: I mean the ship like the juggle blizzy and ship
- 21:49Speaker 4: like that.
- 21:50Speaker 1: That whole speech this woman gives with horrendous you know,
- 21:53Speaker 1: it's just nonsensical. So much stuff is nonsensical. Where I
- 21:58Speaker 1: get maybe it's supposed to be said tire, but again
- 22:01Speaker 1: it felt like a cynical fucking look at things Like,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I don't like a sixty five year old filmmaker having
- 22:08Speaker 1: to make or have his character make a joke about
- 22:12Speaker 1: oh are they using den I can't figure this out.
- 22:19Speaker 1: You're you are a revolutionary from whatever time. That means
- 22:23Speaker 1: you're a progressive person. That means you should have been
- 22:25Speaker 1: hanging around trans people in the nineteen whatever the fuck.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Not that they THEMN joke this economy, this economy.
- 22:39Speaker 1: And then to have the one trans character, I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 1: I mean literally, they are the trans character betray Chase
- 22:47Speaker 1: in Finnity's character straight up. Everyone else stands by that
- 22:52Speaker 1: one folds like a fucking belt.
- 22:55Speaker 4: What is it?
- 22:57Speaker 5: Buckles like a belt, buckle, like a belt, Like immediately
- 23:05Speaker 5: just gave up the goods, like oh yeah, here you go,
- 23:09Speaker 5: blah blah blah.
- 23:13Speaker 3: But this is what happened.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Like they made the point to put the trans character
- 23:16Speaker 1: in the movie just so I can betray the.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Heroin heroin and we know we hate that.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Fans and for all nerds know, I have a rule
- 23:23Speaker 1: that I've been implementing lately.
- 23:24Speaker 4: If a movie in the if I don't.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Ever want to see the first fifteen minutes of a
- 23:28Speaker 1: film again, it's probably not going to be a good film.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I was actively hating.
- 23:33Speaker 1: This movie within first fifteen minutes, like I had so
- 23:37Speaker 1: many if I ever see this Paul Thomas and its
- 23:39Speaker 1: some motherfucker questions. You know, within the first fifteen minutes
- 23:43Speaker 1: that I knew that I was doing that really really
- 23:48Speaker 1: disliked the rest of this film, and it did nothing
- 23:51Speaker 1: to ever disprove that thought. I cannot stand cynicism.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Folks.
- 23:55Speaker 1: There's a quote I wanted to read. It's one of
- 23:57Speaker 1: my favorite quotes ever from Conan O'Brien. It basically helped
- 24:03Speaker 1: save my life and Conan O'Brien this was when he
- 24:06Speaker 1: was going off Yeah, this is when you. I met
- 24:08Speaker 1: ConA one time and I'm so mad I didn't get
- 24:10Speaker 1: to tell about this, and hopefully one day I get
- 24:12Speaker 1: to meet him again because this was in his last
- 24:14Speaker 1: episodes when he was going off the air, and he said.
- 24:16Speaker 6: Thank you enough for the kindness to me. I'll think
- 24:18Speaker 6: about it for the rest of my life. And all
- 24:21Speaker 6: I ask is one thing, and this is I'm asking
- 24:23Speaker 6: is particularly if young people that watch, please do not
- 24:26Speaker 6: be cynical. I hate cynicism, for the record, It's my
- 24:30Speaker 6: least favorite quality.
- 24:31Speaker 4: It doesn't lead anywhere.
- 24:33Speaker 6: Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were
- 24:36Speaker 6: going to get. But if you work really hard and
- 24:39Speaker 6: you're kind, amazing things will happen.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I have that last line about work really hard and
- 24:46Speaker 1: being kind written on my wall right here. That's how
- 24:48Speaker 1: important that was to me.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yo, what's up, fanfam It is I Tatiana King, and
- 24:52Speaker 2: I want you all to know that I need you
- 24:54Speaker 2: to do me a favorite.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Please share this show.
- 24:57Speaker 2: You're listening to us, you're watching us, but your gate
- 24:59Speaker 2: key thing, and I don't understand why you're doing that.
- 25:02Speaker 2: I really need you to share with your friends, share
- 25:06Speaker 2: with your mama, share with your cousins, share with everybody,
- 25:08Speaker 2: because if you're like me, love to share the joy
- 25:11Speaker 2: and it's really important that you do that. So please
- 25:13Speaker 2: tell people about four All nerds, I love you.
- 25:16Speaker 1: That's why I'm so proud of things like Superman and
- 25:19Speaker 1: Fantastic four, because it takes so much more to be
- 25:22Speaker 1: a writer to create hope than it does to be
- 25:24Speaker 1: a writer to reflect what you already see in this
- 25:27Speaker 1: fucked up world.
- 25:28Speaker 7: Oh brother, the guy stacks well if the other flatplat
- 25:34Speaker 7: tomato critics, so you got a tomato means good and
- 25:36Speaker 7: my tomato and so flat.
- 25:38Speaker 1: As most Paul Thomas Anderson's films have, it does have
- 25:41Speaker 1: good cinematography, just the majority of the shots went on
- 25:45Speaker 1: for far too long, because the film itself went on
- 25:47Speaker 1: for far too long.
- 25:48Speaker 2: He said, Okay, well, guys, God damn, I will be
- 25:52Speaker 2: seeing it next week, and uh, you know, we'll get
- 25:56Speaker 2: my two cents on it.
- 25:57Speaker 3: As a black woman, especially one that.
- 25:59Speaker 4: You are going to be infuriated.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I mean, I was infuriated by how the black women
- 26:03Speaker 2: was portraying the Mickey seventeen.
- 26:05Speaker 3: So I wonder that was probably away from this.
- 26:11Speaker 2: So let's talk about some something more positive.
- 26:18Speaker 3: This is positive or still said, it's both.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's super positive and still super like in this
- 26:24Speaker 2: year of our Lord Tweine.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Oh god, I ned you know what you're gonna say.
- 26:27Speaker 1: And I watched the speech the Emmys.
- 26:30Speaker 2: The Emmys was last night you know, several the obvious
- 26:34Speaker 2: stuff really sweat the other night, particularly and Or. Andor
- 26:39Speaker 2: did came away very very well, and Tony Gilroy and
- 26:44Speaker 2: the rest and the entire team fucking put their foot
- 26:47Speaker 2: and Dan his.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Brother, went up there. You saw you saw Dan's speech,
- 26:51Speaker 1: really Dan, Dan Gilroy because Dan Gilroy brother. Yeah, And
- 26:56Speaker 1: he won for to Welcome to the Rebellion episode. He
- 26:59Speaker 1: won Best Writing for particular episode which Tony did not
- 27:03Speaker 1: want to release the all of the strips to and
- 27:06Speaker 1: Or because he feared AI would be used to you know,
- 27:09Speaker 1: train AI. So but because of emmy consideration and other
- 27:13Speaker 1: a war consideration, they did release it. And Welcome to
- 27:16Speaker 1: the Rebellion is available online. It's the ninth episode or
- 27:19Speaker 1: the second season. I highly encourage everyone to go out
- 27:22Speaker 1: and read it. I've already read it.
- 27:24Speaker 4: It is.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I mean I always tell people that, like when you
- 27:26Speaker 1: read a great script like that, it just especially after
- 27:30Speaker 1: you've seen it, it just heightens everything and you can
- 27:33Speaker 1: just you're like, fuck, man, this is you know, like
- 27:36Speaker 1: it's all on the page, It's right there, and that's
- 27:39Speaker 1: a great strip for aspiring screenwriters. I always tell people that.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And you can easily find it. Just Google Welcome to
- 27:45Speaker 1: the Rebellion script. It'll come right up. Check it out
- 27:48Speaker 1: right fire.
- 27:49Speaker 2: So other good news shout out to Owen Cooper, who
- 27:53Speaker 2: won the Emmy for our Standing Supporting Actor in a
- 27:55Speaker 2: limited anthology series for adolescents. He I believe it's only fifteen,
- 28:00Speaker 2: so he's actually the youngest winner of that.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Also the guy I think who plays well, the guy
- 28:05Speaker 3: way said Mail his father, he also won.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Come to find out, I didn't notice. He's also Swedish
- 28:12Speaker 2: and Jamaican descent, which is cool.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I knew that, yeah, because he was from Boardwalk Empire,
- 28:17Speaker 1: so I've known about him. I've been watching him for
- 28:19Speaker 1: a long time now, and that I found that out
- 28:22Speaker 1: like after Boardwalk. But I was like, oh, because yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 1: he's very like it, you know, It's like he's definitely.
- 28:27Speaker 2: He's very like because he's passing. He's what called pass
- 28:30Speaker 2: because I had no idea, but yes, Owen, Owen is
- 28:32Speaker 2: in d fifteen and he is the youngest ever male
- 28:36Speaker 2: acting winner in Emmy history, so he made history.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Also making history is now listen. I love sever seventh.
- 28:44Speaker 3: I love it and separate sweat to listen.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I know seventh sweat too, and I was so happy,
- 28:50Speaker 2: mister milchick himself, Chamel Tillman.
- 28:54Speaker 3: He won for.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Best Supporting Drama Actor Male Drama Actor. He's the first
- 29:01Speaker 2: black man in the history of the Emmys to win it.
- 29:04Speaker 2: And I think they said that's the last category where
- 29:06Speaker 2: a black.
- 29:08Speaker 1: But you know what's said is it's not the last
- 29:10Speaker 1: for Latin, it's not the last for Asian.
- 29:13Speaker 3: It's it's the same conversation that keeps coming up.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Nigga, aren't you ashamed that in twenty five y'all saying this.
- 29:23Speaker 4: No, we're not.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Y'all are shamed the Emmys and everybody else. No, they're not.
- 29:27Speaker 3: We know they answer the questions. It's a rhetorical question.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Another, they are not ashamed of anything.
- 29:33Speaker 3: He deserved that.
- 29:34Speaker 4: I will say that his speech was amazing.
- 29:36Speaker 3: His speech is amazing.
- 29:37Speaker 4: His mom oh my god, like you know, and.
- 29:40Speaker 2: He's so real, like it's so black, Like he was
- 29:43Speaker 2: just like my first agriculture was my mind. Basically, you know,
- 29:47Speaker 2: I'm paraphrasing. He was just like, you're not gonna go
- 29:49Speaker 2: out there and embarrass me. You better act like you
- 29:51Speaker 2: got sense. Every every black kid, oh damn near every
- 29:56Speaker 2: black kid in the Barica knows them words, you understand.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I mean that my mom, you know, rest of her soul,
- 30:01Speaker 1: that was you know, and actually her birthday was the
- 30:03Speaker 1: September eleventh. It's a happy birthday, mommy. And she was
- 30:08Speaker 1: my first acting coach, like I got an acting at
- 30:10Speaker 1: a very young age and.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Movie direct thing.
- 30:13Speaker 1: And my mom was the one who was like, you
- 30:15Speaker 1: can do all that, you know, and would always And
- 30:18Speaker 1: my mom was an actor, so I was always emulating
- 30:21Speaker 1: her anyway. So yeah, that that that speech, I was,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you know, in tears like it was beautiful.
- 30:28Speaker 3: It was absolutely beautiful.
- 30:29Speaker 2: And you know, I guess and that has I said
- 30:31Speaker 2: at the top, you know, good and bad stuff right
- 30:33Speaker 2: like it's it's it's great that you want. I'm all
- 30:36Speaker 2: for that, but it's alcial just like damn, I means,
- 30:38Speaker 2: here we go, you know with the typical stuff like
- 30:40Speaker 2: we're still talking about like why are we still making
- 30:42Speaker 2: first all these years later?
- 30:44Speaker 4: The studio cleaned up?
- 30:46Speaker 3: The studio is absolutely Tim Apple was I like to
- 30:50Speaker 3: call him Tim Apple was there, you know, nodding, and
- 30:53Speaker 3: you know what's so strange to me? But I mean
- 30:55Speaker 3: just and just just to detour a little bit, how
- 30:59Speaker 3: tech has infiltrated Hollywood, like Amazon, Apple, the rest of number.
- 31:05Speaker 2: When I say, like, like everyone else old tech take
- 31:07Speaker 2: over the world tech, No, really like completely infiltrated. To
- 31:11Speaker 2: see and not to say that's the first time he's
- 31:12Speaker 2: been there, but to see Tim fucking Cook sitting there
- 31:15Speaker 2: with the rest of the suits, the Apple suits, and
- 31:17Speaker 2: it's just like they are, yes, giving a platform for
- 31:23Speaker 2: stuff you want to see, but it's also just like
- 31:25Speaker 2: it's so so rapid it too, because it's just like,
- 31:27Speaker 2: but they they doing stuff with our data and they're
- 31:30Speaker 2: doing they have some secret shit going on to like
- 31:32Speaker 2: it's it's the wildest thing.
- 31:33Speaker 3: It's like they they're.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Controlling media in so many different ways, like it's it's scary.
- 31:38Speaker 2: It's I have no other word of it besides it's
- 31:40Speaker 2: like it's lightweight scary.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Mm hmm, it's it's it's We've always had different type
- 31:46Speaker 1: of robber bands running this country.
- 31:48Speaker 4: It's just a different but the level of reach, like.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Like this controls what you see on TV. You understand,
- 31:56Speaker 3: like the level of reach is wild.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I always say, you know, I will say this till
- 32:01Speaker 1: the end of time. It always goes back to the wire.
- 32:06Speaker 1: One of my favorite lines on the wire spoken by
- 32:08Speaker 1: Slim Charles is the game ain't changed.
- 32:12Speaker 4: It's John Mofius, it always.
- 32:17Speaker 3: That's a fact, and that's the word that's.
- 32:20Speaker 1: On the studio though, I want to say, because I'm
- 32:22Speaker 1: actually rewatching it because I got preview copies of it
- 32:26Speaker 1: before it came out, and I burned through it, and
- 32:29Speaker 1: I knew it was good, but I felt like I
- 32:31Speaker 1: burned through it, so.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I started rewatching the season and it is fantastic.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Sorry, the studio, the studio, Oh yeah, I gotta see that.
- 32:39Speaker 1: It's our Apple TV. It really, it really deserved a
- 32:43Speaker 1: lot of those words. I mean, thirteen is crazy. Yeah,
- 32:47Speaker 1: but I love Seth and it's a really great show.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And then the way the majority, not even the majority.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Pretty much every shot of the show is a super
- 32:56Speaker 1: long shot like they do all kinds of extended shots
- 33:00Speaker 1: through it.
- 33:00Speaker 4: A lot of the show.
- 33:01Speaker 1: One episode, I think is a completely one shot throughout
- 33:04Speaker 1: the whole episode.
- 33:05Speaker 4: So it is it. You know, technically, it's very well done.
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's really funny, and you get that insider look at
- 33:12Speaker 1: Hollywood that I've experienced where it's like, yeah, this is
- 33:15Speaker 1: really how it goes down, and this is the insanity.
- 33:17Speaker 1: They have one episode where they're trying to cast the
- 33:19Speaker 1: kool Aid Man. I'll just rewatch because they're doing a
- 33:22Speaker 1: kool Aid film and they have this huge debate over
- 33:25Speaker 1: is it racist to make ice Cube the kool Aid Man,
- 33:30Speaker 1: and then they end up making the whole cast black
- 33:34Speaker 1: and then they're like, oh no, this is racist, and
- 33:36Speaker 1: you know what, say.
- 33:39Speaker 3: The funniest thing.
- 33:41Speaker 4: It's a great show like that, That's what I mean.
- 33:43Speaker 1: So it really well deserved it and the cameos everything,
- 33:47Speaker 1: it's it's like a smart ass Entourage and I think
- 33:50Speaker 1: they even make a reference about that at well yeah, yeah,
- 33:53Speaker 1: because it's not all the Hollywood cameos.
- 33:55Speaker 4: But it's a little more smarter than Entourage was much.
- 33:59Speaker 3: I loved a few more highlights. Stephen Colbert.
- 34:01Speaker 2: They that he got the Emmy, you know, and it's
- 34:04Speaker 2: interesting you're getting the Emmy after you getting canceled on CBS,
- 34:07Speaker 2: which is which is I saw that coming, but like
- 34:09Speaker 2: it's deserved. The speech the great Felicip Rashad gave about
- 34:14Speaker 2: Malcolm Jamal Warner, like you know that that was painful.
- 34:18Speaker 2: It was absolutely painful, and it's also just like like
- 34:21Speaker 2: that's one of our queens of of our black culture
- 34:24Speaker 2: in America, right Like to see her saying so regally
- 34:27Speaker 2: and talking about her son or TV son, but talking
- 34:29Speaker 2: about her son like that, that's that shit hurt right now.
- 34:33Speaker 4: We didn't we didn't really have to talk about Malcolm
- 34:35Speaker 4: Jamal Warner much.
- 34:36Speaker 1: And you know, it's like that's one of those things
- 34:39Speaker 1: for me that is like when it happened, I don't
- 34:42Speaker 1: think I was even I just that, but I didn't
- 34:45Speaker 1: I wasn't ready to reconcile what that meant.
- 34:49Speaker 4: You know, it's THEO. THEO was the coolest nigg in
- 34:54Speaker 4: the world to me. You know, I'm going on the
- 34:57Speaker 4: trail I wanted to Gordon Coatrell. You know.
- 35:01Speaker 1: It was THEO and Dwayne Wayne, like, they were my
- 35:03Speaker 1: two two of my biggest influences as black men of
- 35:07Speaker 1: what it meant to be a young black man. And
- 35:11Speaker 1: I mean THEO was like a few as older me,
- 35:12Speaker 1: and so I would just watch The Cosby Show and
- 35:14Speaker 1: just you know, think of all those scenarios. I mean,
- 35:17Speaker 1: the other fucking day, I'm sitting here because I'm thinking
- 35:20Speaker 1: about a changing career right now, or not a career,
- 35:23Speaker 1: but you know, changing positions at a job and that
- 35:26Speaker 1: episode where THEO is like, oh, I'll just do this
- 35:28Speaker 1: with my money and mister Hudson breaks him down about
- 35:32Speaker 1: how money is and you know, and he's like, okay,
- 35:35Speaker 1: well then you know you're gonna start paying rent here
- 35:37Speaker 1: and makes him rent, you.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Know, and has nothing monopoly money, yes.
- 35:41Speaker 4: And when he had nothing in the room and Rudy's
- 35:44Speaker 4: running him for money.
- 35:45Speaker 1: And all this stuff and that you know that episode,
- 35:48Speaker 1: you know to this day, like it's part of my
- 35:51Speaker 1: life and it's THEO and then like beyond that, Malcolm
- 35:54Speaker 1: Jerar Warner was just such an incredibly talented individual on
- 35:59Speaker 1: so many levels and was just such a good human being.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Like I have so many friends who knew him personally,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and to see their testimonies about him, it.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Was just And he was such an impactful orator, like
- 36:13Speaker 2: especially like later in life, like when you know, like
- 36:15Speaker 2: I don't know if you've seen any of his speeches.
- 36:17Speaker 2: I'm sure you haven't seen any his speeches or talks
- 36:19Speaker 2: that he's given, but deeply pro black, yes, loudly and
- 36:25Speaker 2: proudly pro black, and very eloquent and expressive in how
- 36:29Speaker 2: he he illustrated his blackness and his love for black
- 36:35Speaker 2: excuse me, black black life and black culture.
- 36:37Speaker 3: And it's like, damn out of.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Anybody that y'all could have took Lord, like why my
- 36:45Speaker 2: feel right? And I remember when it happened. Everyone's kind
- 36:47Speaker 2: of seeing it similar like out of anybody, Homeboy other
- 36:51Speaker 2: bone boy was right there, why you have to take him? Right?
- 36:54Speaker 4: Like?
- 36:56Speaker 3: Oh man? Yeah, so it was hard.
- 36:59Speaker 2: You know, it was like a very emotional point in
- 37:03Speaker 2: the show where you know when when Alicia started speaking
- 37:06Speaker 2: s like.
- 37:07Speaker 4: When you were growing up, we were still watching The
- 37:08Speaker 4: Coffee Show.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Right, yeah, they was coming on reruns crazy like right,
- 37:12Speaker 2: you know you know what I'm saying. I learned about
- 37:16Speaker 2: COT through reruns and I and I.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Saw and they showed everything from the very beginning.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Like I guess it started in the eighties or something
- 37:23Speaker 2: to like the later times when you know, a Raven
- 37:28Speaker 2: like like when I was up, when I was coming up,
- 37:30Speaker 2: like Raven was already a part of the show.
- 37:32Speaker 3: So Raven Simone rather excuse me.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Raven Simone was when I first realized the new cute kid. Mean, yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 1: I didn't know about that, you know. That was my
- 37:44Speaker 1: first supposed to the show, jumping the shark because I
- 37:47Speaker 1: got it immediately when Raven came on, I was like, oh,
- 37:50Speaker 1: this show, dud I hated it was.
- 37:52Speaker 3: A little richie from a family matters.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Ian Raven dog and I get it, she was super
- 37:57Speaker 1: talented all that, but I was like, I've already seen this,
- 38:00Speaker 1: damn it, Like you can't replace Rudy, and I knew
- 38:03Speaker 1: Rudy had outgrown her cuteness and it was just terrible.
- 38:06Speaker 1: But I got out a double show by that point
- 38:09Speaker 1: because I knew, but she she was so good.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Raven was incredible on that show. Was talking about her.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I mean that the Malcolm was on the View or
- 38:18Speaker 1: whatever show she's going, and he was like, you know,
- 38:21Speaker 1: Cosby went off stripped every day. That's all Bill did
- 38:24Speaker 1: was just go off stripped and freestyle stuff. And Raven
- 38:28Speaker 1: was able to keep up with him. And this girl
- 38:30Speaker 1: can't even read, yeah, and she would just flip you know,
- 38:38Speaker 1: and and and she's sitting there like ya, I don't
- 38:39Speaker 1: even remember those days. I don't know how I was
- 38:42Speaker 1: doing that stuff. You know, she chal go back and
- 38:46Speaker 1: forth with Cosby like boom boom boom.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah uh and also just you know, salutes to Heavier
- 38:52Speaker 2: Bardem as well as Hannah heind Benderavim you know who.
- 38:56Speaker 2: You know, he's warning the Kefka, and he was just like,
- 38:58Speaker 2: you know, he's saying his free power.
- 39:00Speaker 1: He was just like, I know my decasion and I
- 39:02Speaker 1: will never work with some company now that are not
- 39:05Speaker 1: are not condemning the general side in Israel.
- 39:08Speaker 2: In Gussa, thank you, Hannah ein Bender, thank you for
- 39:12Speaker 2: being a white woman being loud about what's going on.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Thank you for saying she said, go birds, fuck Ice
- 39:19Speaker 3: and free Palestine.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 39:24Speaker 2: After the show's over, there's usually a press room where
- 39:26Speaker 2: the winners going to and they get like it's like
- 39:28Speaker 2: a junket where a bunch of reporters ask the questions.
- 39:31Speaker 2: And they had asked her about that, like oh, well,
- 39:33Speaker 2: why'd you say that? And she was just like, I
- 39:36Speaker 2: would be remiss, and I'm paraphrasing, she said, I would
- 39:38Speaker 2: be remiss as a Jewish woman, as a Jewish person
- 39:42Speaker 2: not to talk about the genocide happening in Palestine and Gaza.
- 39:47Speaker 2: She mentioned, you know, she got friends and Goza and
- 39:49Speaker 2: all us, but but she really just said, like we
- 39:52Speaker 2: really need to separate being Jewish from Israel as an
- 39:56Speaker 2: ethno cultural state because A and that's what I can
- 40:00Speaker 2: talk like you. Having criticism or being completely against Israel
- 40:04Speaker 2: has nothing to do with being an anti Semite, has
- 40:07Speaker 2: nothing to do with not liking Jewish people or hate
- 40:09Speaker 2: Jewish is not the same and it's not equitable. Israel
- 40:13Speaker 2: does not stand for all Jewish people, and a Jewish
- 40:16Speaker 2: person who's on the right side of history will tell
- 40:17Speaker 2: you that all day, all all night, as Hannah did
- 40:21Speaker 2: on the Emmys themselves. So I salute you for doing that,
- 40:25Speaker 2: and that's all I be asking them.
- 40:27Speaker 3: White people, just be loud and vocalized.
- 40:29Speaker 2: I like that y'all in the street throwing sandwiches at
- 40:31Speaker 2: fucking ice.
- 40:32Speaker 3: Do the fuck y'all gotta do.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Do what y'all gotta do anything, y'all not gonna get
- 40:36Speaker 2: killed for it.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Just do it. That's the thing, And that's that will
- 40:43Speaker 3: get killed for that.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Too. They shot white kids to Kent State.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Never forget, white people do not have to worry about
- 40:50Speaker 2: being at a traffic stop and getting killed. White people
- 40:54Speaker 2: can generally speak their mind and not worry about.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Getting killed in this country.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Generally, generally we've seen that be the opposite. But hey,
- 41:02Speaker 2: you know you yourself. But that being said, I need
- 41:06Speaker 2: white people to speak up.
- 41:07Speaker 3: This is your time to shine, straight up.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Shout out to white people winning as well The Pit
- 41:14Speaker 1: one for Best Series. And I just want to shout
- 41:17Speaker 1: that out because one of my brothers, Evan Allen, just
- 41:20Speaker 1: to say, I cannot pronounce your last name.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Brother.
- 41:22Speaker 1: You know that he's an Ethiopian. This my brother, though,
- 41:24Speaker 1: My man. Evan Allen is a recurring role on the
- 41:27Speaker 1: Pit and he'll be back for season two, so I'm
- 41:30Speaker 1: super proud of him and super proud of that show.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Put up my g Emmy winner. Call you an Emmy
- 41:36Speaker 1: winner now, Evan, look at that real quick?
- 41:39Speaker 2: Ben, have you you've watched The Witcher on Netflix?
- 41:42Speaker 4: Right?
- 41:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, I watched the trailer for the new one,
- 41:44Speaker 1: that's for sure. Lord of Mercy, Me don't like me.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Don't like I know, I sound like a hater, But
- 41:53Speaker 3: Henry Cavill was slash is girl. Not to say that
- 41:57Speaker 3: no one else could ever do it.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Someone else could definitely do it. Say it's just this guy.
- 42:04Speaker 3: It ain't Liam, Sorry, Liam.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Lauren Fishburne not in the trailer, but I did see
- 42:11Speaker 1: him in a still shot. He is in season three
- 42:15Speaker 1: The Witcher, wearing what looks like a don king Wig.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Why is Laurence fishburning here?
- 42:20Speaker 4: I heard?
- 42:21Speaker 3: But what's he doing?
- 42:22Speaker 4: Man?
- 42:23Speaker 1: I realized Lawrence needs like he got some tax issues
- 42:27Speaker 1: or something going on.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Brandkids, college, regious, somebody named reaches.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Look after seeing their Prentice, I realized that Lawrence definitely
- 42:37Speaker 1: will you know, take that check?
- 42:39Speaker 4: And I am mad at Lawrence.
- 42:42Speaker 3: He was He was Granddad in Blackish for the longest
- 42:45Speaker 3: and that was great.
- 42:45Speaker 4: I just wish That's what I'm saying.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I wish he would get something like like we're talking
- 42:49Speaker 1: about today. He needs to get a state farm commercial,
- 42:52Speaker 1: you know, something like that, you know, steady credit card
- 42:56Speaker 1: that millions of dollars just rolling in every year.
- 42:58Speaker 4: That's what you need.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Not Samuel got that one, I know.
- 43:01Speaker 1: But for Lawrence, farm blocked this somewhere else where. Lauren's
- 43:11Speaker 1: to get his, you know, because he got the Voice
- 43:14Speaker 1: of God, so you know, you got to be able
- 43:17Speaker 1: to get that. Because I don't want to see you
- 43:19Speaker 1: do the Apprentice again, bro, I don't want to see
- 43:21Speaker 1: you do it, you know.
- 43:23Speaker 4: And that Wig in the Witcher season is.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Like I said, I don't meet this out like a hater,
- 43:28Speaker 2: but I'm hating. I'm not pleased with Liam. I wasn't
- 43:31Speaker 2: pleased when they announced him last year. I'm not pleased
- 43:34Speaker 2: with what I saw. It just looked like somebody acting
- 43:38Speaker 2: with the you know, with a six thirteen wig as Carol.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Like it didn't look, it didn't feel anyways. It's gonna
- 43:46Speaker 2: be eight episodes and it comes on Netflix October thirtieth.
- 43:49Speaker 3: I don't care right writing time for Halloween.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll be doing something else.
- 43:57Speaker 3: So interesting. I'm like Netflix, No.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Neflix, don't give a ship. I saw something make a
- 44:04Speaker 4: know this is it.
- 44:04Speaker 3: They know, this is all.
- 44:06Speaker 4: Right, this is a penultimate season. There'll be this in
- 44:09Speaker 4: one morning. They're done.
- 44:10Speaker 1: I saw some of those make up. It was on threads.
- 44:12Speaker 1: They said that, here's Apple TV. Apple TV says you
- 44:16Speaker 1: have a new series starring four of your favorite OSCAR
- 44:19Speaker 1: nominated actors with this amazing, credible, talented director. Here's Netflix,
- 44:25Speaker 1: here's season fifteen and people cleaning toilets.
- 44:33Speaker 4: It is. It's straight up.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Blockles and that like they'll turn around and cancel ship
- 44:39Speaker 3: that is popular.
- 44:40Speaker 4: They don't give a ship.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Bill Caster, that's absolutely popular.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Cost cutting. Cost cutting, that's all about. They don't care.
- 44:47Speaker 1: They don't care because something else for a place that
- 44:49Speaker 1: that's cheaper. People clean the toilets, fifteen seasons going. Why
- 44:55Speaker 1: should we spend money with people? Watch Love Island? You know,
- 44:59Speaker 1: why should we spend money?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Well, not too much on Love Island because that that's
- 45:03Speaker 2: bringing out the superstar shoutout Alandria and everybody else.
- 45:06Speaker 3: But let's let's let them be the superstars.
- 45:10Speaker 2: They let them be the shut up, let them be
- 45:12Speaker 2: the super side of their side.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Don't talk about I don't know if is uh you
- 45:17Speaker 1: know headline in the movie Leonardo DiCaprio, Yet.
- 45:20Speaker 2: She will be don't be surprised everywhere, but don't be surprised.
- 45:25Speaker 2: But uh no, no, But I get your point, Like
- 45:28Speaker 2: I just yeah, I don't know, man, No neflix.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Don't give a ship. That's the point.
- 45:32Speaker 2: It's so wild, Like nothing's driven by numbers anymore, driven by.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Everything is Everything is straight up driven by numbers. That's
- 45:40Speaker 1: what it is. It's nothing is driven by creativity or
- 45:44Speaker 1: by what people feel. Everything is numbers, right, you know.
- 45:49Speaker 1: My another brilliant series that I love so much is Fastly.
- 45:52Speaker 1: When you want to talk about what goes on in
- 45:54Speaker 1: Hollywood today is Barry And there's this one of my
- 45:57Speaker 1: favorite scenes in Berry is when a woman and launches
- 46:01Speaker 1: she's the showrunner of a new show. She launches it
- 46:03Speaker 1: that morning, you know, it goes up on the streaming
- 46:05Speaker 1: service that morning. It is the biggest hidden variety the
- 46:08Speaker 1: Hollywood trades. Everybody's loving it. By that afternoon, that bitch
- 46:13Speaker 1: is canceled and she goes to she goes into the
- 46:18Speaker 1: office and it's zach sister and tells her, I wish
- 46:22Speaker 1: I could do something, but I can't because the algorithm
- 46:26Speaker 1: said this is what must be done. And she's like,
- 46:29Speaker 1: you're the exec. You are literally the person who could
- 46:32Speaker 1: do something. The algorithm says, I can't. Show's canceled. Yeah,
- 46:39Speaker 1: and that is that's the reality. That is the reality.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Ninety five percent of the shit is just it's made
- 46:45Speaker 1: by algorithm. These days, and you know there's certain studios
- 46:48Speaker 1: like you know, you see it with a twenty four,
- 46:50Speaker 1: you know, stuff like that.
- 46:50Speaker 4: People are still taking risks.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I mean even I feel like this one bad of
- 46:55Speaker 1: another is a wild risk because this shit calls one
- 46:57Speaker 1: hundred and fifteen million, and they where you're trying to
- 46:59Speaker 1: advertise it all money and that.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Football and I don't.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I don't get it because it ain't that this is
- 47:06Speaker 1: you know, somebody loves money at football is not going
- 47:08Speaker 1: to see the film or when they do, they're yeah,
- 47:13Speaker 1: and when they get they're gonna be wild and weird.
- 47:17Speaker 1: But there's a lot of very weird sec ship.
- 47:21Speaker 4: I don't want to go back.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Please don't go back here, because it is I do
- 47:26Speaker 3: want to.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I do want to go back and say one thing though,
- 47:28Speaker 1: Like I said, one of my biggest problems is because
- 47:31Speaker 1: of how much I love black women and how much
- 47:33Speaker 1: I love black people and I and that was like
- 47:37Speaker 1: the fact that Tiana Taylor said one Last Time comes
- 47:40Speaker 1: from a line of revolutionaries. And within the first fifteen
- 47:43Speaker 1: minutes we just before she gets preditant, obviously, Leo and
- 47:46Speaker 1: her set off a bomb to blow up with looks
- 47:49Speaker 1: like a power station or some ship, and Leo, who
- 47:52Speaker 1: is supposed to not be the sensible one, is sensibly
- 47:54Speaker 1: trying to get away and she's like, no, let's fuck
- 47:56Speaker 1: when the bomb.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Goes off, I've heard enough before.
- 48:00Speaker 4: We black women deserve better.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Wow, that's mind boggling.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Before we got out of here, I did want to
- 48:09Speaker 2: just again just we're trying to be on the up
- 48:11Speaker 2: and up salutes. It is New York Fashion Week salutes
- 48:14Speaker 2: to an actively black fashion show. They had actively Black
- 48:18Speaker 2: I don't know if you've seen the ads, always seen
- 48:20Speaker 2: it as for years on on Instagram at like a
- 48:23Speaker 2: at leisure where type of Brandon clothing line. They had
- 48:27Speaker 2: a bunch of civil rights icons walk their show. So
- 48:31Speaker 2: they had Ruby Bridges walk. They had the daughters of
- 48:34Speaker 2: Martin Luther King and Malcolm X walk together, doctor Bernie
- 48:37Speaker 2: Keen and doctor Shabbaz walking.
- 48:41Speaker 3: They had Cecil Uh, Cecil Williams.
- 48:44Speaker 2: They had Cecil Williams, who you know that that iconic
- 48:46Speaker 2: picture of the black man drinking from the whites only fountain.
- 48:50Speaker 2: They had him and he came out. What what song
- 48:52Speaker 2: did he come out to? Like, he's I Ain't Never scared,
- 48:54Speaker 2: That's what he came out to. I Ain't never scared.
- 48:56Speaker 2: And he had the shades on and he I mean,
- 48:58Speaker 2: it was so fire to see that.
- 49:00Speaker 3: They also had.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Hassie Benjamin Haith Junior, who designed the Junteine flag.
- 49:06Speaker 3: He came out as well.
- 49:08Speaker 2: There was a bunch of other people who came out,
- 49:10Speaker 2: but like, I just wanted to particularly note those folks
- 49:12Speaker 2: because it's just so refresh and again to see our
- 49:15Speaker 2: icons and see our leaders and you know people from
- 49:19Speaker 2: that time that actually wasn't that long ago, see them
- 49:22Speaker 2: getting their flowers and seeing people like just continue to
- 49:25Speaker 2: learn and again just the idea of what's what's happening
- 49:29Speaker 2: in this country today, you know, erasing, trying to erase history,
- 49:32Speaker 2: trying to erase the truth, trying to erase what's right
- 49:35Speaker 2: in front of you.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Like, you can't erase these people. These people lived it.
- 49:38Speaker 2: They're still alive, which again should give you the understanding
- 49:41Speaker 2: that shit was not a long time ago. One for example,
- 49:44Speaker 2: on Cecils shirt, Cecil Williams, the one that drank from
- 49:46Speaker 2: whites only fountain on his shirt was his picture from
- 49:49Speaker 2: that that that image I just mentioned.
- 49:50Speaker 3: But in color, and I really liked that it was
- 49:53Speaker 3: in color.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Like it's one of the things like during the Supper
- 49:55Speaker 2: Rights you always see these shits in black and white.
- 49:57Speaker 3: And I remember years ago you and I were talking
- 49:59Speaker 3: about that.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Yep, there are conversions of all those fucking pictures.
- 50:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it's intentional.
- 50:04Speaker 2: It's intentional to makes you think, oh, this is so
- 50:06Speaker 2: long agold and blah blah blah. Your grandparents, if your
- 50:09Speaker 2: grandparents still live, they lived through that.
- 50:11Speaker 3: If you're not that your parents, my parents, your parents.
- 50:15Speaker 4: My my dad.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Was born in nineteen thirty nine, my mom was born
- 50:19Speaker 1: in nineteen forty three.
- 50:20Speaker 4: They both lived through everything.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Your parents lived through that, understand So again, kudos to
- 50:28Speaker 2: actively black.
- 50:29Speaker 3: You know that shit was fire appreciated all of that.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I'm trying.
- 50:34Speaker 3: To give you something positive.
- 50:35Speaker 1: No, no, no, very positive, and thank you very much.
- 50:37Speaker 1: I was definitely very positive and thank you very much.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Like I said, I do want to go out on
- 50:41Speaker 1: a positive note. And that's like I said, why I
- 50:43Speaker 1: because as Oh no, I just do not. I will
- 50:46Speaker 1: and I still want to call the some trash and
- 50:48Speaker 1: I think it's very competently made. You know very well,
- 50:52Speaker 1: you know overall, it's just what it's saying is why.
- 50:55Speaker 1: I had some huge problem with that, and that's how I.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Want to go out.
- 50:58Speaker 1: I'm saying again like I have a huge hue problem
- 51:00Speaker 1: with cynicism, especially in this day and time we live
- 51:03Speaker 1: in today, Like I just do not believe to ever
- 51:07Speaker 1: give up, to ever think that this is the end,
- 51:10Speaker 1: to ever think that things can't change. Like I hate
- 51:14Speaker 1: that idea. I detest it. I fight against it with
- 51:18Speaker 1: every fiber of my being. Because again going back to
- 51:21Speaker 1: my parents, my grandparents, my great grandparents, my ancestors beyond
- 51:26Speaker 1: that have lived through worse. End of story, nothing is
- 51:31Speaker 1: new under the sun, and nothing you're seeing or experiencing
- 51:34Speaker 1: right now is any worse than what our ancestors have
- 51:37Speaker 1: gone through in this country or around the world for
- 51:40Speaker 1: that matter. So to you know, be a cynical person
- 51:44Speaker 1: to think that this is the end of things, or
- 51:46Speaker 1: that we cannot win, or that we cannot experience a
- 51:49Speaker 1: better life, or you out there yourself can't live a
- 51:52Speaker 1: better life. It's just you know, you're already giving up.
- 51:55Speaker 1: You've already lost a battle right there. And I cannot
- 51:58Speaker 1: because of someone who's battled depressed, someone who's been through that,
- 52:01Speaker 1: someone who's had to go through brief and loss on
- 52:04Speaker 1: a tremendous scale over the last five years. I just
- 52:07Speaker 1: know that what end of the day matters is waking
- 52:10Speaker 1: up every day and choosing to live a good life,
- 52:13Speaker 1: choosing to find happiness in the moments, choosing to think
- 52:17Speaker 1: about all the blessings that you have every second of
- 52:20Speaker 1: your life.
