- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you.
- 0:23Saw that day just the knife in
- 0:29and the sacrifices that I made
- 0:48Mayhem on the Brown cul-de-sac
- 0:55Chaos ensues. Season 6 episode 15 We are 15
- 1:03episodes into season 6 while the
- 1:09The Kody will play with his children.
- 1:16And does he actually play with
- 1:18Oh, I guess he kind of does. I was going to give him no
- 1:21flowers, but he might deserve a flower.
- 1:23Like maybe 1? Yeah, it's more like him just
- 1:26trying to keep them quiet the whole time so that he can
- 1:29actually think. Like he's struggling to have a
- 1:32thought because there's so much chaos and noise going on the
- 1:36entire episode for him. So while the description of this
- 1:39episode and the title kind of allude to the fact that the
- 1:42wives are going to be gone, they
- 1:44We do start the episode with a
- 1:48tells us she's decided to challenge herself to a 5K and as
- 1:53we know, she's been working out with trainer Sean and she tells
- 1:57us that a year ago she did a mile walk and it almost killed
- 2:02her. She decided to do a 5K.
- 2:04I mean, is I guess this is the
- 2:10Know she makes it seem like she hears people talk all the time
- 2:14in everyday life and say things like, Oh yeah, going to run a
- 2:175K this weekend, nothing much going on here.
- 2:20And that she wants to be somebody that can say that she
- 2:24has ran a 5K. And she says that Shawn and her
- 2:28have been focusing on strength
- 2:33different sense. And this is going to be a new
- 2:36challenge for her. So Shawn has been helping her
- 2:39prep and he is just so sweet. I have to say.
- 2:45They show clips of them working out together again and he just
- 2:49seems like a really good guy. Even after the time we spent
- 2:52with him on Testosterone Tuesday, you still feel like
- 2:55he's a good guy. I do.
- 2:57I feel like he gave in a peer pressure a little bit.
- 2:59And I wished that he wouldn't have.
- 3:02I wished that he would have been
- 3:07said, hey, hey, hey, let's not
- 3:11But he's a good guy, you can tell, and he cares about her.
- 3:16I think he really does care about her.
- 3:18I agree the vibe is not like this is a professional
- 3:21obligation. Like he seems personally vested
- 3:24in her success. Yes.
- 3:26And of course because this is sister wives, we can't just talk
- 3:28about Janelle. We have to bring in one of her
- 3:31sister wives, Robyn. Robyn tells us that she designed
- 3:34some T-shirts that could be worn
- 3:38of participants for the 5K. At this point, you know, we're
- 3:41assuming that the team is probably family members, given
- 3:44that their family is enormous.
- 3:50how hideous these fucking shirts
- 3:55poorly designed. I mean, they're designed by
- 3:56Robyn. Absolutely disgusting, I wrote
- 4:01in detail. OK, before I hand the baton to
- 4:05you to tell us a little bit more
- 4:07hear about team shirts, I think bold lettering, I think name,
- 4:14I think they're all the same color, they're all the same
- 4:18whatnot, and it's easily identifiable from the
- 4:21distance. But we didn't get that from
- 4:23Robyn. What did we get?
- 4:25Oh my God, this garbage. So first of all, the T-shirt has
- 4:38depending on how you're looking at it.
- 4:40And then down the other side we have the words strong, amazing,
- 4:47passionate, yourself, confident, grateful, honest,
- 4:51happy. So we are going to be all these
- 4:57things. And it's written in this weird
- 5:00Renaissance type festival lettering that's not bold.
- 5:07It's on this bright green and red ugly, just children's
- 5:14preschool type colors. And it's printed in what looks
- 5:18like brown. So it's barely showing up on top
- 5:22of these bold colors. And there is a fluor thing.
- 5:29You know, I think of New Orleans
- 5:33the word be some weird vine stuff coming down off of that
- 5:39and a literal bee and a heart that's on fire.
- 5:44And then on the opposite side are the words.
- 5:48This looks like something you would have gotten a stamp of at
- 5:54a Hobby Lobby for on putting on cards or something.
- 5:59It looks like it's barely on the
- 6:02The vibes to me spoke almost like in a children's book or
- 6:06something that has illustrations
- 6:09decoration around the words. It's intricate, small, not
- 6:15easily seen from a distance. Doesn't read well, no.
- 6:18You literally. And also the way it's laid out,
- 6:20it's just nonsensical, clearly
- 6:25And Robyn's shirt is pink. We find out that Janelle's shirt
- 6:29is blue and eventually we see that Christine's shirt is
- 6:31orange. There is just this multitude of
- 6:33colors with this ugly print that
- 6:36further away than three feet. So it's like these are your team
- 6:39shirts. This woman is so fucking dumb.
- 6:42I can't even. I can't even.
- 6:44And they're the cheap type of shirts too, that a high schooler
- 6:49would get for their team sport
- 6:52They're not nice comfort color
- 6:57I think that's probably the norm
- 7:01cheaper shirts. I don't think they had all the
- 7:03nice soft micromodel T-shirts that we love now today, but they
- 7:08look uncomfortable. They look scratchy and thick and
- 7:13not like something I would want to be running in.
- 7:17No, thank you. Yeah, the vibe is an ugly
- 7:20version of the T-shirt they give
- 7:24in the 5K, where then maybe you save it and wear it while
- 7:27you're painting or going on your
- 7:29You know, like not something you
- 7:32design and have made. Or make a T-shirt quilt out of
- 7:35Christopher. Oh, more quilts.
- 7:38That's all this family needs and
- 7:41talk about quilts. Yes, indeed.
- 7:44Well, as Robyn arrives at the house and I don't know if we
- 7:47were at Christine or Janelle's, but Robyn arrives at the house
- 7:50with this T-shirt in her hand and she tells us that she's so
- 7:53nervous 'cause she wants to make
- 7:56comfortable in this shirt. It only arrived late last night
- 7:59and she's been so nervous about it all night.
- 8:02And I'm like, don't you live like 30 feet away?
- 8:05You couldn't have brought it over last night.
- 8:07You couldn't have discussed this
- 8:09You couldn't have sent her a text message?
- 8:12Also, why were they arriving so late?
- 8:13Is it because you can't even backtrack from a date to have a
- 8:17shirt made so it arrives more than the night before?
- 8:20She's just incapable of doing anything.
- 8:22And it felt kind of fake to me, like a production line.
- 8:27It did. It did fake drama.
- 8:32The shirts come in late and she's worried about the sizing.
- 8:37The whole the whole drama here
- 8:42large and Janelle says that she used to be a 4XL and I don't
- 8:49know if you know, but that's XL,
- 8:55She has to let us know and she
- 9:00fitting and being uncomfortable and she gives a little smirk
- 9:05when she leaves to go try it on,
- 9:11she knew already that it was going to fit.
- 9:15It felt like it was staged, yeah.
- 9:19The whole thing felt staged also
- 9:23during the whole thing, she looked like her life was in
- 9:26ruins. Like she showed up as if she had
- 9:29like bitten all of her fingernails off and I pulled her
- 9:32hair out and all these things.
- 9:34And it's like, this is just not even possible.
- 9:37It's a T-shirt and you live next
- 9:39And it just none of it made any sense.
- 9:41And as if you wouldn't ask what size to order, right?
- 9:45That's the first thing you ask
- 9:46You send around a sheet and say check your size next to your
- 9:51name or whatever this organization would be for a team
- 9:56event and they can't even do the
- 10:00they didn't. Who knows.
- 10:02Fake drama. Real drama could be either with
- 10:05this fucking family. Robyn might have literally made
- 10:08a mistake because maybe that's
- 10:12a 4X was just because Robyn couldn't comprehend.
- 10:16Probably she can barely count to
- 10:19What an idiot. My other thought was that she
- 10:26purposely ordered a size smaller
- 10:30because she's low key diabolical and wanted to embarrass her.
- 10:37Or just I was being nefarious, I
- 10:42And even if it wasn't her intention, I could also see that
- 10:44being a production tactic. Like we're going to get Janelle
- 10:47the wrong size shirt to make some drama.
- 10:49So there's possibilities for drama.
- 10:51There's always the possibilities
- 10:54because she doesn't understand.
- 10:56So yeah, that's always an option.
- 10:58So she goes into the bathroom, she puts this shirt on, and
- 11:03everybody is just waiting on pins and needles for her to come
- 11:09And it shows off her curves and her weight loss and everyone's
- 11:19I'm actually really impressed.
- 11:21Oh, he's so gross. Actually really impressed but.
- 11:26When she comes around the corner
- 11:28trying on this shirt, I thought she just looked so great.
- 11:32I mean, it is probably, I don't want to say maybe it's not the
- 11:36best we've ever seen her look,
- 11:38It's very fitting to her. And I said she has tits and she
- 11:42has a waist and she rocks this
- 11:46got that natural blonde. So the blue actually does go
- 11:49well with her hair and her skin,
- 11:52T-shirt. And I thought she looked the
- 11:55best I've seen her look. I thought she looked great.
- 11:57And even though she was like morning, no makeup, putting on a
- 11:59T-shirt, she looked really good.
- 12:01Yeah, leave it to Kody to make a comment about how he didn't
- 12:04think it was going to fit, but he's actually really impressed.
- 12:09Just the word, actually.
- 12:12It's a tactic to put somebody down.
- 12:15He's always got to put something
- 12:19you're actually putting the person down 1st.
- 12:24It's gross. Yeah.
- 12:26Yeah, it's very Kody behavior.
- 12:29response because she's teeing up
- 12:33approval about whether it looks OK.
- 12:35You know, she's talking about how there's no hiding what shape
- 12:37she is because of how tight it
- 12:39But while she's saying this, she
- 12:41She has like a enthusiasm about her speak.
- 12:45And I just thought that she looked so great, especially
- 12:48because we're used to seeing her
- 12:52flowy things. And it was like, holy shit.
- 12:55Like she literally has a waist.
- 12:57And I've never seen it before. So when she Tees up to Kody, you
- 13:02you know, you'll tell me. And he was like, I'm actually
- 13:05really impressed. It's like, OK, Kody, he's color.
- 13:12Say you look great, definitely
- 13:15You look wonderful. Yeah, I couldn't do that.
- 13:17I would be insulted if somebody said it to me like that, but
- 13:22they're used to him talking to
- 13:25it even registered. We get a couch moment with the
- 13:28wives where all the adults are
- 13:31amazing when she did this T-shirt reveal.
- 13:34And Christine says I'm so proud of you.
- 13:37And Robyn goes, it showed off.
- 13:40your hips, and Robyn's, like how
- 13:44Like she's literally lost a bunch of weight.
- 13:46And it was showing off her body parts and in a way that I
- 13:49believe was appropriate for a polygamist.
- 13:51Now, I don't know. You could see her elbows.
- 13:54So you know. Yeah, they are being
- 13:59complimentary and kind and it's a good, it's a good moment to
- 14:05watch. We don't get a lot of those
- 14:07where they seem genuinely interested in what's going on
- 14:10with the other person. I think as we've noticed a lot,
- 14:14Robyn's spacing out, not paying attention, being a little
- 14:17preschooler. And then we've got Janelle
- 14:20staring at the floor, usually spacing out, trying to
- 14:24disassociate from whatever is being said on the couch.
- 14:28So the fact that they're all engaged and giving her actual
- 14:31compliments is good to see. You forgot to mention how Meri's
- 14:36sitting there thinking of a defensive reaction even though
- 14:38they're not talking about her or
- 14:41Yes, yes, thinking of a way to
- 14:45gets thrown under the bus again.
- 14:48Speaking of Meri, she tells us that she's super busy with her
- 15:01consistently, so overwhelmingly, and need so much
- 15:04coordination that she couldn't possibly participate in a 5K on
- 15:07the weekend because she's so busy with my sister wife's
- 15:10closet orders. I bought it.
- 15:12I bought it for sure. Yeah, definitely.
- 15:15It looked very convincing when you saw her face and the
- 15:21demeanor and yeah, sure, OK. And we have another excuse from
- 15:27a sister wife, Robyn. Robyn can't run because she hurt
- 15:36She would be that person. Oh, I have a I have a back
- 15:43injury from a previous incident and it changes every single
- 15:47time, like what the incident was and the injury.
- 15:50Yeah, good old Robyn. We love her.
- 15:53The other thing is, doesn't she say that her and her daughter
- 15:56Aurora have this thing where they constantly need to have
- 15:59snacks or they pass out? Oh God.
- 16:02Doesn't she say something like that at one point?
- 16:04So I'm shocked she didn't use that as the excuse.
- 16:07Oh, I can't run because I have this.
- 16:10Whatever low blood sugar problem, I think she brought
- 16:14that up in another episode previously.
- 16:17She's always got something. She's the pick me so.
- 16:20Yes, there's always some reason that she can't participate.
- 16:23And even though we did watch her participate in the anagram
- 16:26thing, remember that the personality test and she later
- 16:32questions for me. It's like we have footage of you
- 16:45Nauseous. Probably pretending she was
- 16:50pregnant to get Kody's attention because it was about everybody,
- 16:53not just her at the therapy getaway.
- 16:56I completely. I've invested so much in that
- 16:59conspiracy theory, like my entire retirement is binged on
- 17:04How are we going to find out? We get to the park and we're
- 17:11about to start the 5K and Janelle talks about how she's
- 17:15worried about what people are going to think about her.
- 17:19She's worried about people snickering at an overweight
- 17:23person running a 5K, and that really hit home.
- 17:28I think all of us have issues when we go to the gym being
- 17:34worried about what other people are thinking or people watching
- 17:37me. Am I doing this right?
- 17:39And it was a very real moment. She gets to the park and she's
- 17:45And we get the voice over of her saying that she's worried about
- 17:50people laughing. It's got to be tough when you're
- 17:55she referenced how she went on a one mile walk and it almost
- 17:59killed her. So this is quite a different
- 18:02feat. I do wish she didn't have the
- 18:04internalized pressure or whatever pressures to run
- 18:06because you don't have to run at a 5K, but you know, whatever.
- 18:11I was the only child in first grade that had gym homework.
- 18:15I couldn't learn how to jump rope so I got sent home with a
- 18:29with a jump rope and I had to tie it to a doorknob in
- 18:36practice. Oh wow.
- 18:38So I really understood where she
- 18:42I'm I get you, Janelle, I feel.
- 18:44Yeah, I'm going. I feel like I have so many
- 18:48questions answered right now. It makes sense.
- 18:52It makes sense. Oh boy.
- 18:54And we see Janelle starting to walk.
- 18:57At the beginning, it was hard to tell because it's, as usual in
- 19:05When it started, when it stopped, all these things.
- 19:08But Kody's there, Christine's there, other family members are
- 19:11there. We don't get a lot of details
- 19:13about them to start with. It's like it started and
- 19:16everyone's doing things. And we hear Kody talking about
- 19:30establish my pace. So I had my pace for the whole
- 19:32thing. So he basically ended up leaving
- 19:35behind his children and his wives and maybe everyone but
- 19:38Sean. No, because Sean was with
- 19:40Janelle towards the end so who
- 19:43He might have just abandoned everybody.
- 19:44So Janelle, her point about being nervous is that she got a
- 19:50late start because she kind of
- 19:54late because she was worried about how she looked and then
- 19:58got the courage up and started a
- 20:01And Kody ran ahead with Gabriel and Savannah and they kept
- 20:06pace. They kept pace with me.
- 20:09He established a pace. He does say that word many a
- 20:12time. And Shawn stays with Janelle.
- 20:16He's running with a stroller with his kids in it.
- 20:22It's a double stroller. He's got two kids in it and he
- 20:38they would at least all start together, but they didn't.
- 20:41And of course, as a response to Janelle being really, in my
- 20:46opinion, being very gracious about her approach, he's kind of
- 20:55assume that we would at least start together.
- 20:57And then of course, Kody has to respond in his Kody way by being
- 21:04I don't know that anyone's jumping to the conclusion that
- 21:11bastard who is a narcissist and only thinks of himself so no one
- 21:18negative things about you so of course you have to respond by
- 21:21saying it doesn't make you an evil dude.
- 21:23He is so gross. Christian laughs and goes.
- 21:26Well, he had to keep going because he'd established a pace,
- 21:34It's weird and Janelle does say that Gabriel and Savannah ended
- 21:41up coming back to run and finish with her and she thinks
- 21:46it's because Kody outpaced them that he even outran his own
- 21:50kids and then they decided to come back and run with her.
- 21:54I would like to think that it was out of the goodness of their
- 22:00back to run with her. But it could be because their
- 22:04dad's an asshole and outran his own children on purpose so.
- 22:07It's probably both. He has to turn a 5K that looks
- 22:20Like this is not a competitive race.
- 22:22And of course he has to be a showboat because he's fucking
- 22:25Kody Brown. They do eventually show a clip
- 22:31And it I couldn't tell once again if it was towards the end.
- 22:35towards the end. And then they show her walking
- 22:36again. But then we see her picking up
- 22:38pace to kind of run to the finish line.
- 22:40And I thought it was really cute
- 22:43It was just great to see. I loved it.
- 22:45It was. They also show us that Christine
- 22:48and Mckelty ran as well. Yeah, they don't really talk
- 22:51about it, but it's pretty cool
- 22:55them too. I would have been pissed if I
- 23:00was Janelle that Kody, of course
- 23:05himself and outrun everybody and
- 23:09her. He could have started with her
- 23:20conversations about these things outside of production,
- 23:22which I think we basically know that they don't, but it's
- 23:27one of those things where wouldn't you talk about that
- 23:30with your spouse honestly, at some point afterwards?
- 23:32I mean, even if you don't want to make a scene at the event and
- 23:403 weeks later after Robyn's 2 1/2 weeks with Kody are up.
- 23:44That. She would say something like, I
- 23:46just kind of wish that you would have done that.
- 23:48I mean, it could have made me feel better and I think it would
- 23:53something like those conversations probably do not
- 23:55happen at all. It's bizarre to me that a spouse
- 24:01they weren't in a group to begin with.
- 24:04That they were all so spread out that they didn't know where the
- 24:07other ones were when it started.
- 24:10That's very, very weird to me.
- 24:14is at at this time. And because they're teeing it
- 24:18all up as if this is, like, a thing for Janelle, Like, it's a
- 24:21big deal, a big dull for Janelle.
- 24:23Now, who knows how much the family actually talked about
- 24:26that beforehand or whether that was a take away and a, you
- 24:29know, an angle for production.
- 24:33was really aware that this was
- 24:35do, and it was a big dull. So Kody is just once again
- 24:38living in his own world. Literally in his own world,
- 24:41needing to beat all of the 50 year olds and people that can't
- 24:48run as fast as him, people with ankle issues.
- 24:52Like, I don't know, this seemed like a ragtag group of people
- 24:55running this 5K and he had to be
- 24:59OK, Of course he did. Of course.
- 25:03Like, are you proud of yourself?
- 25:04Are you so proud that you outran everybody?
- 25:07Kody Brown. OK, what a loser.
- 25:12God, seriously. Well, after they finish the 4K,
- 25:15Christine and Robyn both talk about how proud they are of
- 25:18Janelle. So Robyn was there, she did show
- 25:23Meri was out, you know, bubble wrapping all that jewelry and
- 25:26bringing it to The UPS Store over and over and over again.
- 25:30But it was cute to see Christine and Robyn telling Janelle that
- 25:37those flowers, even if her husband abandoned her.
- 25:40We cut to three days later, which they make sure to let us
- 25:49don't, but it's three days later, everybody and the sister
- 25:53wives are going on a road trip to San Francisco.
- 25:58They are going to look at dresses for a commitment
- 26:03ceremony. A commitment ceremony.
- 26:05Have we heard about this before? Sounds vaguely familiar, I'm not
- 26:18Not alone. Basically, Aspen's going to be
- 26:26And Christine lets us know that Aspen is stressed about watching
- 26:35You know what's coming down the pipeline here.
- 26:38Yeah, Christine checks in with Kody and Aspen at her kitchen
- 26:41table and they're making some plans for while the wives are
- 26:44away. While they're doing their sister
- 26:53does it, it's just her in charge.
- 26:54So having this Kody element involved is adding something
- 26:59that's different. Now, we do love Aspen and she's
- 27:03so nice. She's just trying to not say my
- 27:07dad is incompetent and barely a parent and this is going to be
- 27:11a nightmare. She's just saying that it's
- 27:13going to be different. She would rather be doing it
- 27:16alone. Oh yeah, you can tell.
- 27:18There's some things with this episode that we'll get into
- 27:20where I'm going. What is the truth here?
- 27:22What is happening? Different number of days,
- 27:24different number of kids. It's all over the place, but
- 27:28Janelle has a moment where she's
- 27:30says, you know, Kody's pretty capable, but this is the
- 27:33longest we've ever left him alone with the kids overnight.
- 27:36Yeah, Yeah. We'll see how this goes.
- 27:40Nervous laughter. And I'm like, overnight.
- 27:43How many nights are we talking
- 27:44Just one night. This is the first time where I
- 27:47was paying attention to what is the details of this trip.
- 27:50They're kind of giving us some
- 27:53And then it seems like the details change as we learn more
- 27:55about it. So I don't know, hard to track.
- 27:58They definitely do. They talk about it being a
- 28:00weekend at one point and then when they get back Kody says
- 28:04they were gone a week. So there's a lot of confusion
- 28:09here. And of course, it could just be
- 28:11the words being used here, like when she says overnight, that
- 28:13doesn't just mean one night, but
- 28:17viewer, I'm going, so they're just going to be gone one night.
- 28:19I'm like, isn't the drive to San
- 28:22probably a day trip? So it just was all not setting
- 28:26it up very well as we're used to
- 28:30Robyn says that if she was left alone with all the kids, she
- 28:33would have been stressed and overwhelmed.
- 28:36And Kody says all be fine. And they all kind of do this,
- 28:40like half smile, like, yeah, we all think that's true.
- 28:48I was going to say like, they're
- 28:49really are. So it does fit.
- 28:51Yeah, there's a point where Kody
- 28:55Aspen is trying to meal plan and
- 29:00Kody is like, no, no, no, I have
- 29:04It'll be fine. We'll be fine.
- 29:06It's just a little insight into the fact that his daughter is
- 29:11more mature than he is and trying to plan ahead and he's
- 29:17pretending. He's pretending he has a plan in
- 29:19front of his wives. So I don't know.
- 29:23But we go back to the couch and we've got the adults and
- 29:28they're talking about this trip and whether or not they're
- 29:33excited for the trip. And Meri says that she's excited
- 29:38to go back to the Bay Area because she's from there and
- 29:42hasn't been there in a while. Christine asks her, are you
- 29:49excited to go with us? Not just to go back to the Bay
- 29:53Area, but do you want to go with
- 30:00It's very, very weird because she kind of whispers and goes.
- 30:05You don't. I can see it in your eyes.
- 30:08And Meri says, I don't know how to answer the question.
- 30:11Long pause. I think it could be a lot of
- 30:16fun. I'm a little nervous about it
- 30:19because this is not something we
- 30:24And Robyn agrees. And that's when Janelle says
- 30:27ever. So Christine's teeing up this
- 30:29question. And I don't want to say she's
- 30:31giving her, like, a gotcha moment, but it has this element
- 30:34of, you know, I'm going to ask
- 30:36I know that you're not going to answer it truthfully.
- 30:38And now I'm going to point out
- 30:40you're not going to tell me what
- 30:42And it's like, well, yeah. I mean, you guys don't ever
- 30:44spend any time together alone,
- 30:47And, you know, Meri says it's uncharted territory, so she's
- 30:50nervous. Christine, you know, says, I get
- 30:54it. I'm a little nervous too.
- 30:56It did feel a bit like Christine
- 30:59but then by the end of this exchange realizes, oh, I'm in
- 31:03the same boat. So why am I calling her out?
- 31:05I'll just kind of tone it down.
- 31:08It was so awkward because you've got Janelle looking pissed when
- 31:13Meri says, I don't know how to answer the question.
- 31:18Robyn's got her jaw set so tight and she's jutting her lower jaw
- 31:23out and forward like she has a massive underbite and she's
- 31:29jutting it out super, super obvious in this scene.
- 31:35Everyone's feeling so awkward that the Habsburg jaw is jawing,
- 31:45uncomfortable. And then by the end it's
- 31:48lighthearted and Christine's admitting she's nervous as well.
- 31:56It definitely speaks to their dysfunction and kind of never
- 32:01being on the same page. And it was just awkward all
- 32:05around. I didn't really know what to
- 32:06take from it other than jeez, these women do not hang out
- 32:10alone ever. Clearly.
- 32:11No, I kind of got the vibe that maybe Meri had been talking
- 32:16about the trip and going on and on about, oh, the Bay Area.
- 32:20And I know this about the Bay Area.
- 32:21And when I used to live in the
- 32:25annoying that pissed Christine
- 32:29And maybe she'd been going on and on about it.
- 32:31So Christine was like, OK, but
- 32:34with us not just to the Bay Area?
- 32:37That maybe she was annoyed and
- 32:41came up. And then when they got to the
- 32:43brass tacks of it all, she's like, oh, yeah, well, I'm
- 32:46nervous about it as well. And they reconnected again.
- 32:50It was so awkward. And leave it to fucking Meri.
- 32:54Leave it to Meri to just be like, I don't know how to answer
- 32:58the question. Like bitch that says it all.
- 33:03That says everything we need to know right there.
- 33:06Because who would literally come
- 33:11to answer the question, only her?
- 33:14Because that's an answer. That's an answer.
- 33:18We get it. She's so direct without being
- 33:22direct that it's painful. It just Harkins back to this
- 33:26whole faux narrative that she can't express herself.
- 33:28It's like the bitch expresses herself plenty.
- 33:30I do not buy for one second that she doesn't feel comfortable
- 33:33because even when she says basically nothing, everyone
- 33:36knows what she's saying. It's whatever.
- 33:38Yeah, this is one of those moments where I can't believe
- 33:43she said that type of thing. She couldn't just have
- 33:47pretended. If you weren't going to say an
- 33:57everything. Also, I kind of feel like Meri,
- 34:01I don't remember the details of this from becoming Sister Wives,
- 34:09four or six, like she was a kid.
- 34:12Very young. Right.
- 34:14So we're not talking about someone who had like a whole
- 34:17life of experiences in San Francisco.
- 34:19She was a very young kid. And then they left to probably
- 34:22join the cult or something. So you know.
- 34:26God, this woman. And the cherry on top of this
- 34:28shit sundae is Kody chiming in.
- 34:30Of course, Kody has to jump in. Do you think you all will miss
- 34:41as you'll miss us with 15 kids. And I'm going, here's the first
- 34:44number of children that we're going to hear.
- 34:46That never changes all the time in this episode.
- 34:48Now, I did realize as I was scrutinizing as I'm going
- 34:51through the episode, I go, OK, so maybe in certain scenes,
- 34:54hunters at a sporting event, someone is blah, blah, blah.
- 34:57Why is it 15 kids to begin with? How many kids do they even have?
- 35:02What is happening? Like they don't give us anything
- 35:04to start with ever. So you're just left going, what
- 35:07does this mean? And maybe we'll get a little
- 35:10clarity, but I kind of doubt it.
- 35:12We we find out one of the children won't be there and
- 35:15we'll find out why. And I'm going to wait to reveal
- 35:18it because it thumbs. Up I have a feeling we'll talk a
- 35:26Will and Robyn makes a point to say that they are all really
- 35:32really going to miss the kids and that Kody comes first after
- 35:37the kids and so they are lazy with their relationships as the
- 35:43sister wives and they really need to do this.
- 35:48OK Robyn, thank you. Thank you for your wisdom.
- 35:53We get another reminder of their upcoming commitment ceremony
- 35:57from Kody. Of course, he's telling us that
- 36:00there's going to be this not recommitment ceremony.
- 36:02And is it even a commitment ceremony?
- 36:04We're not sure there's some sort of thing going to happen.
- 36:08And Robyn interjects and calls it a party, which I love because
- 36:15She's got to give a little correction here, a little
- 36:17correction corner from Janelle. Yeah, Janelle thinks that it's
- 36:24formal. She literally says, hot off the
- 36:26heels of when Robyn calls it a party.
- 36:28She says it's not just a party. She goes, I mean, it is a party
- 36:32and it will be fun, but the kids will be involved.
- 36:35And really it's a bit more of a formal thing.
- 36:38We're making a commitment to work together as a family and
- 36:41build our future in this new place.
- 36:42So I kind of feel like she might have realized in the moment that
- 36:49going to continue on with my description of what I mean
- 36:53because if I don't, I probably just look like a bitch when she
- 36:56should have been a bitch because fuck Robyn.
- 36:59Yeah. And it's interesting that that
- 37:00came from Janelle, that Janelle felt like she needed to speak
- 37:04up and say something and that she actually did.
- 37:07She came out of her comatose state on the couch and actually
- 37:11said something that was a little
- 37:14Yeah, I don't know. It's like with the blocks when
- 37:17she was saying that it didn't need to be, you know, artistic
- 37:20or even or whatever. Yeah, these random moments where
- 37:24she just decides she's going to express herself.
- 37:27And then she surprises herself
- 37:31and backtracks. Like, oh God, totally.
- 37:35By the end of her three sentence
- 37:38correcting back to what is more appropriate or reasonable.
- 37:41It's like, you know, girl, it's fine.
- 37:42You can have an opinion, it's all right.
- 37:44As we've learned, that's a problem for her.
- 37:46It's a problem for her to speak up.
- 37:48She doesn't ever feel like she
- 37:51Well, Meri, Meri was so mean to her, you know, that she didn't
- 37:54have an opportunity to share how
- 37:57because Meri was also too busy
- 38:02That's that's why Janelle finds it hard to express herself.
- 38:05But we do see this a lot. You know, we are calling out two
- 38:09moments right here where she does course correct, as you
- 38:12said, and tries to share her opinion and then kind of freaks
- 38:16out and takes it back or backtracks.
- 38:19And so there's some sort of trauma there.
- 38:22There's some sort of response where she, you know, snaps
- 38:26herself out of it and thinks, oh, shit, I'm going to get in
- 38:29trouble later. So it's, it's weird to watch
- 38:33because you can see, you can tell that she's doing that.
- 38:36And there's something that made her have that reaction, You
- 38:39know, it's like, oh. All the times that Meri took out
- 38:44that ruler and beat Janelle over
- 38:46you're not folding the towels right?
- 38:48You're not folding the towels right, The oranges go in the
- 38:50fridge, not on the counter. Bam bam bam.
- 38:52They're right. Excuse me, got a little out of
- 38:59She'd be like, I'm really good at the game.
- 39:04Quarters. We're going to play a game of
- 39:07quarters, Janelle, you know, where you flick the quarter at
- 39:12sucks at it. And that's like her way of
- 39:15getting out her punishment. I feel like Meri would do some
- 39:24sort of abuse that Meri might have done.
- 39:26No, no, no, no. It's showing up here.
- 39:29It's definitely showing up that Janelle has some sort of trauma
- 39:33response happening. And Speaking of Meri, she says
- 39:40relationships rather than with the formalities of this
- 39:43commitment ceremony. So she's apprehensive about the
- 39:46San Francisco trip because she doesn't know if her heart is
- 39:50really in it. I think it comes back to what
- 39:53Kody ends up saying, that this trip is about business and
- 39:57looking for dresses and shopping for dresses for the ceremony.
- 40:01But he thinks it'll be a really good bonding experience.
- 40:04And I think that maybe she's referencing that.
- 40:07It shouldn't be about the dresses for the commitment
- 40:11ceremony. It should be about the bonding
- 40:23They're cutting things out on us, so it's hard to read between
- 40:28They just do this to us and and that's why we're here and that's
- 40:35things to infer upon. This is it.
- 40:37If anyone's going to make up scenarios about the Brown
- 40:40family, it's us here on My Sister Wives podcast.
- 40:42It's got to be us. But now our favorite sister
- 40:48wives, our favorite polygamist, the sister wives are all going
- 40:54Jack, don't you come back. No more, no more, no more, no
- 40:57more. And you know, for a once in a
- 41:00lifetime road trip to San Francisco, I'm going to.
- 41:03Oh God, what is it called when you give away the future?
- 41:08Spoiler alert, we don't get any footage of them driving down the
- 41:15where they're supposed to turn, not reading the map correctly,
- 41:25And I'm a little sad because I could have used some in car
- 41:28footage of, you know, Janelle rolling her eyes at Robyn and
- 41:32Meri not communicating while communicating the entire time.
- 41:40do. She doesn't even do the road
- 41:43math for us. She doesn't tell us when they
- 41:46need to stop, where they need to stop, how long the drives going
- 41:49to be, how many miles it is to an hour.
- 41:52Not this time around. They just get in the car and
- 41:56they go Flintstone style. They're out of there.
- 42:00That's it. Especially with Meri's intimate
- 42:03history with San Francisco, she's it's a destination she's
- 42:09Can't believe it? Oh my God.
- 42:11Can't believe we didn't get the road math on it.
- 42:13I appreciate you bringing up that road math because really
- 42:16that was a highlight from Mayor. After the wives hit the road,
- 42:20Kody gathers all the children to discuss plans for while the
- 42:24wives are away. He says it will be smooth for
- 42:28the week. The moms are gone, which once
- 42:30again made me confused on the timeline.
- 42:32I'm like, so they're going to be gone a week?
- 42:35OK, sounds good. They're going to be gone a week.
- 42:39Can you imagine them going on an
- 42:42go dress shopping? That's why I think that Kody is
- 42:46the one that's inflating the amount of days because he says a
- 42:50week when they get back as well,
- 42:54It's probably felt like a fucking week to you, Sir,
- 42:56because you have too many children and you cannot wrangle
- 43:00them on your own. So maybe to you it felt like a
- 43:03week. I think that's what's happening
- 43:05here. That makes.
- 43:06Sense. Exactly.
- 43:08Even just anticipating it, he's like, they're going to be gone
- 43:10for a week. It's like they're not going to
- 43:12be gone for a week. You just don't know how to spend
- 43:15more than 15 minutes alone with your children.
- 43:17But you know what? Yeah, so he gathers all of the
- 43:22older kids at the table and they're trying to make a plan
- 43:26for the week, and Kody is telling everyone to stop
- 43:31talking, stop talking, stop talking.
- 43:35He says it over and over again.
- 43:37He looks at Maddie and he goes, you stop talking.
- 43:40Every time everyone else stops talking, you start talking.
- 43:43And Maddie gets this look on her face and looks at her other
- 43:47siblings next to her. Like what the fuck, he's losing
- 43:53it already. Only one person talk at a time.
- 43:59Like, Oh my God, he's totally
- 44:02losing it, yes. He's overwhelmed already and to
- 44:06be fair it would be a lot of noise and my ADD ass would not
- 44:13be able to focus on the task at hand with that many children
- 44:18doing whatever the fuck they were doing.
- 44:20I mean, I only want to shame him
- 44:23deserves the shame. I would be shamed for other
- 44:26reasons, for my complete lack of
- 44:29Like I would have been like, I
- 44:31then I need to go sequester myself in a room and I hope you
- 44:34all survive. That's probably the route I
- 44:36would have taken. So I can only judge because
- 44:40we're here to judge. I think it's fair to judge
- 44:42because he's the one that has this many children.
- 44:45He chose to have this many children and he has this many
- 44:48children and he has had this many children and he can't
- 44:52handle being in a room with them
- 44:57and having it wave around and getting all worked up and
- 45:01overwhelmed. And it's like, dude, how many
- 45:05times have you been in the room with all your children like
- 45:08this? Apparently not enough because
- 45:10you're struggling to even have a
- 45:14your mind. Yeah.
- 45:15And this is not the last time where it would cross someone's
- 45:18mind. How many times are they all
- 45:20together these days? Because even when the wives
- 45:22return, there's a moment where
- 45:25aren't you all together with any
- 45:28Because there's a moment where
- 45:30the case. You know, we're alluding to it,
- 45:33but there's this undercurrent that I don't think anyone
- 45:36listening to this podcast will
- 45:38almost a vibe of daddy's going
- 45:44children. And I don't know how much of A
- 45:47tangent we can go on about this.
- 45:49Obviously we, I just mean, you know, because of the laws of
- 45:52nature and time and space and all of that, just disappointing
- 45:55in so many ways and frustrating, you know?
- 45:58Well, we get a prime example of it right here, this dad
- 46:03mentality. Kody says that he is going to
- 46:06grill one day, Maybe tonight. I'm going to make chickens,
- 46:11burgers, hot dogs, steak, and the leftovers will be lunch for
- 46:16the rest of the week. No more cooking for the rest of
- 46:21the week. It'll all be done.
- 46:23It'll be perfect. And the older kids are looking
- 46:29That's the plan. Dad, you're going to grill one
- 46:36like, there are ways to feed people without bulk grilling on
- 46:39one day and then just telling people to throw it in the
- 46:43microwave. Like even if you want to go
- 46:44simple and do a few boxes of Mac and cheese or breakfast for
- 46:47dinner, like there's so many things you obviously can do if
- 46:52And if I'm spending time with the kids, usually meal or food
- 46:57So let's give him, let's give him whatever you'd be giving him
- 47:04Have some fun nights, do something interesting, do
- 47:06something unique. Instead, he's defaulting too.
- 47:08I'm going to batch grill a bunch of shit and then be like meal
- 47:12plan yourselves. Like gross.
- 47:13It's such a dad like way to handle this.
- 47:17It's such a thing a dad would do.
- 47:20Oh God. And I feel yucky even saying
- 47:22that, but it's like, come on dude.
- 47:24Imagine you'd have to grill 28 hot dogs at least if that's
- 47:29going to be their lunch for the rest of the week.
- 47:33A whole week of hot dogs, Sir I. Don't know, and I think you
- 47:39might have been doing some girl math there because I don't think
- 47:46I mean, he could eat 14 hot dogs in two days himself.
- 47:49Oh God. Yeah, at one point the kids are
- 47:52excited and exclaiming and enthusiasm about these food
- 47:55things or whatever. And he goes, OK, settle down,
- 47:59Browns. And I was like, oh, I actually
- 48:02I'm like, all right, you are the Browns.
- 48:04And like, that's kind of cute, but maybe cute's not the right
- 48:10Lil Ry me probably says it a lot.
- 48:14It's probably some little quip that the family says quite a
- 48:17bit. And Kody ponders to the
- 48:19children. Another thing I want to do is
- 48:21something really fun with you guys, an activity.
- 48:24What are your ideas? Which I love because obviously
- 48:30Laser tag, laser tag bowling, YMCA, wet and wild and Kody's
- 48:37like. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 48:40whoa. Overwhelmed, can't handle all
- 48:46the input shutting down. Right.
- 48:49It's like, once again, hard drive overload.
- 48:50Don't you have like 37 children? Aren't you accustomed at all to
- 48:55having to ask these people questions, these young people?
- 49:01with all of his kids at once before.
- 49:02It's very bizarre. Well, even Aspen is surprised
- 49:05that he wants to do this all in one place with all the children
- 49:09at once. She's almost thinking he's going
- 49:14And when they're initially talking before the moms leave
- 49:18and they're having the conversation with Christine,
- 49:21Aspen's shocked that he wants to get everybody together every
- 49:26night for meals or for this or that.
- 49:30And it does have me thinking there is 4 houses and there is
- 49:45He can't spend the night in every house to be with his kids.
- 49:52scenario? Is an older child in each of the
- 49:55houses having to be there? It's it's kind of weird.
- 50:02Because both Christine and Janelle have children that are
- 50:05old enough where I don't know the rules, but perhaps an
- 50:10overnight would be OK. You know, Aspen's clearly
- 50:13responsible enough to probably
- 50:15But then you've got little truly, who's so young.
- 50:18Robyn's house. There's nobody old enough to be
- 50:22left alone with children overnight, so maybe Kody stayed
- 50:26there. You know, what you're teeing up
- 50:27does lend to this thing where I was thinking, there's no way he
- 50:30actually did do this by himself,
- 50:33Like there had to be other adults around.
- 50:35Yeah, it feels weird. Unless he had Robyn's kids come
- 50:40to one of the other houses and
- 50:44irresponsible. And she has her like cousin,
- 50:47niece, sister-in-law, nanny person that we aren't really
- 50:52familiar with, but she's been in
- 50:56there. Maybe even before the 5K or
- 50:58something. She was sitting on a couch.
- 51:00She was at Robyn's Talk about Purity sitting at the back,
- 51:05Yeah. So I don't know if she lives
- 51:07with them or not, I'm not sure, but she's around.
- 51:10So just the the lack of any other adults other than Kody in
- 51:15the footage made me hesitate that he was actually alone the
- 51:19entire time with all of them. I kind of doubt it.
- 51:21I know there's laws about kids
- 51:26if they're under the age of whatever it is for the state.
- 51:29I think I remember it being 8 when I was younger.
- 51:34You couldn't be alone for a certain amount of time if you
- 51:36were under 8. There's weird stuff that if
- 51:38somebody were to report you and be able to prove that you're
- 51:41leaving your child alone that long, that with a sibling that's
- 51:45not responsible be bad. And I think that that's
- 51:50something that polygamous family
- 51:55I think so just it's it's weird to think about this.
- 52:00When Kody admits having a meeting with the 13 children and
- 52:04what's the challenge? Having them agree on anything?
- 52:06And I'm going 13 children. Now it's 13 kids and I'm going,
- 52:10OK, so there's no Logan, no Solomon.
- 52:15So the math, I guess a couple kids might not have been at this
- 52:19meeting is where I'm going. OK, so we have to figure this
- 52:22out as viewers. We're not just allowed to watch
- 52:24the show and enjoy it because no, we can't.
- 52:27It's Sister Wives now. There's thirteen children.
- 52:30And this is to Aspen's point that she can't believe he
- 52:33doesn't have a plan because he's
- 52:39to do for the weekend. If you have a family this big,
- 52:42if you have a family with two kids like I do, you make the
- 52:46plans for the weekend. Yeah, it's OK to ask your kids.
- 52:50Would you like to choose between
- 52:54But you don't just throw the question out there.
- 52:57You're the parent, you make the decision.
- 52:59You should probably have a plan if there's this many kids
- 53:02involved, so. It's almost like having a
- 53:05classroom of students now, they're all different ages, but
- 53:08you wouldn't leave a classroom
- 53:11going to be doing. And that might not be a fair
- 53:13thing. It just makes me think of the
- 53:14number of kids. I mean, it's a room full of
- 53:17fucking children hollering their
- 53:20And Kody's like, turns out this wasn't as easy as I thought
- 53:23it'd be. Like, why did you think it would
- 53:24be easy? Aren't you their parent?
- 53:26Like Oh my God, what an idiot.
- 53:33To come back to the grilling of it all, he makes a comment
- 53:40after, you know, talking about
- 53:43be the plan for the cooking, at least there's going to be no
- 53:46more cooking the rest of the week.
- 53:48And you can't really screw up grilling, can you?
- 53:52Such a lame tee up. So lame.
- 53:55So lame. Aspen goes to the door and she's
- 53:59checking on Ysabel and Ysabel has been running across the
- 54:02cul-de-sac and comes up and we
- 54:08toe. Stubbed her toe.
- 54:14We find out that she stubbed her
- 54:18cul-de-sac barefoot, and she's
- 54:24hanging off of her big toe. So Kody comes running because
- 54:29there's drama. He hears the drama and he
- 54:32carries Ysabelle to the tub. The Jacuzzi tub sets her on the
- 54:39edge of the tub and is cleaning off her foot.
- 54:45And it's cute. It's actually cute what he does
- 54:50here. So he's he's holding her foot up
- 54:53and her feet are so dirty. They are like black and he's
- 54:57holding it up and he's like pulling the skin back and
- 55:00cleaning it out and telling her she's doing such a good job.
- 55:03She's so tough and I was impressed.
- 55:07It was a little hard to see the extent of her injury because
- 55:11her feet were even more filthy than the usual brown piggy
- 55:14piggy feet that we're used to seeing.
- 55:17They were disgusting, literally so gross.
- 55:19Kody says that it's like she's been traveling across the plains
- 55:25And they literally were disgusting.
- 55:27And yeah, as she's sitting on the side of the tub, he's got
- 55:31the shower wand attachment thing and he's spraying her feet.
- 55:34And it did remind me of when I was a kid.
- 55:36And when you're doing that with your parent and then they're
- 55:39like, get me the peroxide for the gaping wound.
- 55:41And you're like, oh, it's just going to be terrible because
- 55:44yes, you do want to clean it out.
- 55:45And he points out that it is on her foot.
- 55:47So he's going to be very thorough, and there's just
- 55:50nothing like having someone else pull back your open wound and
- 55:54spraying it with water and then dousing it with peroxide.
- 55:57She was a trooper. And he says that she was a
- 56:00trooper. And it was not a bad scene in
- 56:02the sense that, yeah, he was a dad doing what you would think a
- 56:07So that's pretty big for Kody.
- 56:11and they show us and he goes, there's a whole chunk of dirt in
- 56:15here. I got to get it out.
- 56:16I got to get it out like. And poor Ysabel is literally
- 56:21wincing in pain, but also being a trooper.
- 56:24She's literally, she's not screaming, she's not crying,
- 56:26she's not doing anything nuts.
- 56:29God, Oh my God, Oh my God. And I, she probably took it
- 56:31better than me. I would have been like, Oh my
- 56:33God. I'd have been losing it.
- 56:35I am dreading the day where my
- 56:39injury. I am dreading it so much because
- 56:43you know me, I'm. I will try to stay calm so that
- 56:47they don't freak out, but I will
- 56:51Yeah, yeah. This was one of those scenarios
- 56:53where I would have been questioning if stitches were
- 56:56needed, but at the same time, do
- 57:01Honestly, it looked like it could have used stitches, though
- 57:05it was. It was bad.
- 57:07I'm just not looking forward to that in my own life.
- 57:09And then all of a sudden we see footage of Kody running through
- 57:12the house. Oh no, I left the steaks on the
- 57:14grill. So yeah, of course he was
- 57:17grilling and the steaks were left on.
- 57:19He goes, there were inch and a
- 57:24were cooked through. You know, I was playing Mr. Mom
- 57:27and Doctor and, you know, doing all that at once.
- 57:30They're completely solid, like
- 57:36I also thought here you couldn't
- 57:39kids to go check on the stakes or with that many people
- 57:44around, somebody couldn't have come and said the stakes are
- 57:47still on dad or anything at all.
- 57:50Yeah, it just seems to speak to the chaos of the entire
- 57:54situation. So he's occupied with taking
- 57:55care of his child, forgets about the stakes.
- 57:58And, yeah, none of the other kids, including the teenagers,
- 58:04about it. I mean, they must have all been
- 58:07preoccupied. Moms are gone.
- 58:08OK, So the moms are gone. Chaos ensues.
- 58:10This is what happens at the households.
- 58:12You know, when mom is gone, nothing is normal.
- 58:15Nothing is operating as it should.
- 58:17He makes the comment about playing Mr. Mom and Doctor and
- 58:30Mom. You mean a father?
- 58:33But you know what? Hey, you know.
- 58:36And as usual, we get a seamless transition to the wives arriving
- 58:46the hotel, Robyn tells us that she brought Solomon with her
- 58:49because he doesn't sleep without her and she's still
- 58:52breastfeeding. This becomes a theme in her life
- 58:58they're old enough to drive. It's ridiculous.
- 59:00I didn't even notice his age or his size until later in the
- 59:05episode. But yes, Solomon is with because
- 59:11He still sleeps with her. He can't sleep without her.
- 59:15Well, she doesn't say can't. She says he doesn't sleep
- 59:19without her and she's still breastfeeding.
- 59:21I have nothing against breastfeeding and continuing to
- 59:27breastfeed as long as you can. It's great for the baby.
- 59:31You're not going to hear anything about that from me.
- 59:34It's great for your 12 year old apparently.
- 59:37Yeah, but to not be able to take a night away from your child
- 59:44because of it when they're at this age is a little bizarre.
- 59:49And to still be sleeping with a child at this age, it's not
- 59:57setting your child up for success.
- 1:00:00It's weird. It gets really weird at a
- 1:00:03certain point, and it makes me wonder, is he sleeping in bed
- 1:00:06with her and Kody then while Kody's there?
- 1:00:09Because he must be. So yeah.
- 1:00:12Well, like I said, at this point, little Saul has his
- 1:00:16learner's permit, so it's a little jarring.
- 1:00:18I couldn't quite tell how old he was.
- 1:00:20So this is they don't show him a lot in detail throughout the
- 1:00:24episode until the end when they get home from the trip was when
- 1:00:28I went. Holy fucking shit.
- 1:00:30Solomon has had braces, had them taken off.
- 1:00:33He has literally gotten his learner's permit.
- 1:00:35He is going through it. He's gone through puberty and
- 1:00:38he's breastfeeding and sleeping with his mother.
- 1:00:39It is bizarre. He has to be at least two at
- 1:00:42this point, I think just due to the timeline of them being in
- 1:00:46Vegas and you know, my kids. Can you imagine Leo
- 1:00:50breastfeeding my 2 1/2 year old? Can you imagine him
- 1:00:55breastfeeding? I'd be concerned for your poor
- 1:00:59going to be ruined. He would look me in the eye, he
- 1:01:02would devil glare, and he would try to tear my nipple off just
- 1:01:15Children, they get a certain age
- 1:01:19and they just do things to mess with you.
- 1:01:21And you can't tell me that child's not going to be biting
- 1:01:24down at some point. Hey, listen, I don't know
- 1:01:27anything about any of this and
- 1:01:31She also has a gigantic scab on her upper lip at the interview.
- 1:01:39Yeah, like. Really big.
- 1:01:46Is it from a Nair incident or?
- 1:01:51I don't know, but it's there. So it's weird because they show
- 1:01:57the wives arriving at the hotel and it's late and it's dark,
- 1:02:01and then they tell us that Solomon is with on the trip
- 1:02:07and why, and that's it. So it's like they're sharing
- 1:02:13with us why Saul is with just to
- 1:02:17But there's no point in it because they don't show him with
- 1:02:20the moms the rest of the trip.
- 1:02:24didn't need to happen. It's almost an embarrassing
- 1:02:28moment that they just threw in
- 1:02:33it would make sense if they had to give us a reason why he's
- 1:02:36with, because he's with on the
- 1:02:39him in the scenes, but we don't even see him in the scenes.
- 1:02:43So why did they even tell us all
- 1:02:47And if they were going to say anything, why wasn't it when
- 1:02:49they left? Like, why is it when they're
- 1:02:51arriving at the hotel? It's very strange.
- 1:02:53I. Don't know.
- 1:02:54I just, I don't know. They just make all these weird
- 1:02:56decisions, so. As if all the things we would be
- 1:02:59concerned about with Kody being alone with his children.
- 1:03:01It's not like my first place in my mind went but what about
- 1:03:03baby Sol? Like certainly didn't.
- 1:03:06Cross then. Yeah, it's not crossed my mind.
- 1:03:08No. The next morning, the wives are
- 1:03:11in the hotel lobby meeting up with Kendra, who is Robyn's
- 1:03:15friend. And they're connecting with
- 1:03:16Kendra because she, quote, UN quote, works in fashion, which I
- 1:03:20love because I'm sure she's, I
- 1:03:26Donatella Versace, but turns out, no, her name's Kendra.
- 1:03:29And she's going to show them some shops, some local San
- 1:03:33Francisco shops. They're going to start with a
- 1:03:36boutique called Elizabeth Charles.
- 1:03:38Oh, Elizabeth Charles. Oh, you missed the point that
- 1:03:42Robyn had to make by saying she's a dear friend that has
- 1:03:45been helping her with my sister wife's closet, which just has
- 1:03:49me immediately questioning her
- 1:03:55world. This is it.
- 1:03:57When I said, you know, quote UN quote works in fashion, I was
- 1:04:00trying to point out that I wonder if this means she works
- 1:04:05at the customer service counter at Kohl's or what it is that
- 1:04:08she does because based on her appearance, her aesthetic, her
- 1:04:12advice having to do with my sister wife's closet where she
- 1:04:16brings them what? Luckily, we don't hear much from
- 1:04:19her. Thank God.
- 1:04:20I'm just going to jump to a bunch of conclusions that
- 1:04:22Kendra, excuse me, no conclusions jumped to.
- 1:04:25We were told she works in fashion.
- 1:04:28She's the person at Plato's Closet that decides if your
- 1:04:31clothes are good enough or not
- 1:04:34Oh no. She's the one telling you
- 1:04:37there's too much wear on this pair of leggings from Express.
- 1:04:43We can't take them. I can give you a dollar for
- 1:04:47these sandals. Oh, we hear from Christine, and
- 1:04:51Christine says that she is not
- 1:04:54She does not want to go to shop after shop looking at dresses.
- 1:05:01I don't blame her, especially because when we get to Elizabeth
- 1:05:05Charles, the dresses, I don't know, they're all too small for
- 1:05:14everybody but Robyn. Janelle agreed with Christine
- 1:05:18and they joke about how the clothing sizes are going to be a
- 1:05:22barrier for them. And even Meri joins in talking
- 1:05:24about how there will be nothing at Elizabeth Charles that would
- 1:05:27fit them. And so, you know, it's weird
- 1:05:30with these couch moments and interviews when they're talking
- 1:05:34about things that already happened.
- 1:05:35So I'm curious if the wives, how
- 1:05:38that before they went to the store versus when they arrived
- 1:05:41versus after. I would assume that they
- 1:05:43probably, if they heard that it was like a boutique or a
- 1:05:46fashion, you know, especially with Kendra's leadership, they
- 1:05:49might have known that there was going to be a size 012 kind of
- 1:05:52store or something like that. A size half.
- 1:05:54Excuse me. There was a girl I went to high
- 1:05:55school with that literally told us that she was a size half.
- 1:05:59And my friend Margaret was like,
- 1:06:02And she was like, oh, is that what that means?
- 1:06:04And it's like, girl, I know public education in America.
- 1:06:09It is what it is. Yeah, I wouldn't want to go shop
- 1:06:11to shop looking at dresses either if nothing was going to
- 1:06:14fit me in the stores. So I can understand if this is a
- 1:06:19hindsight interview that she would be saying that you're
- 1:06:23right. And Christine says she thinks
- 1:06:25they could even be snubbed for
- 1:06:28going into a store like this. And then when they get to the
- 1:06:31store, the wives describe the vibes of their upcoming ceremony
- 1:06:34to the store manager to get help
- 1:06:38And Christine says that the person was friendly.
- 1:06:40The manager. I didn't catch the manager's
- 1:06:41name. I don't think it matters,
- 1:06:43Christine. Oh, Christine.
- 1:06:44Christine. Another.
- 1:06:46So many Christines in this show.
- 1:06:47Yeah. And Christine Brown talks about
- 1:06:50how it's nice that Robyn volunteered to try things so
- 1:06:53that they could all see what it would look like not on a hanger,
- 1:07:00obviously not the same shape or size or whatever.
- 1:07:03So how could it even be helpful to see clothes on Robyn that
- 1:07:07would be like you trying on some jeans so that I would know if
- 1:07:10they would look good on me? It's ridiculous.
- 1:07:11It makes no sense. We hear from Robyn on the couch
- 1:07:15and she says I offered to try on anything that they would want
- 1:07:19to see so that they could see it on a person.
- 1:07:22As if she's some sort of martyr for offering up her services of
- 1:07:27trying on all these dresses because she's such a model.
- 1:07:33I would be walking out of there if I was one of these wives and
- 1:07:40she said I'll try on everything, this self-centered
- 1:07:45piece of shit woman. Oh girl.
- 1:07:49You cannot tell me she wasn't just eating this up and didn't
- 1:08:00She says that she felt bad about it.
- 1:08:03OK, I'm sure you felt real bad about it.
- 1:08:06I was just going to say, honey, I had such a different
- 1:08:08perspective than you. I felt bad for Robyn because she
- 1:08:15to hurt anybody's feelings. I have such a soft spot for
- 1:08:20Robyn, you know? I I've been in a wedding party
- 1:08:28parties and anyone who has been a bridesmaid knows that trying
- 1:08:36everybody's a different size and they only have the dresses and
- 1:08:42And then they bring out these clips and they clip you into the
- 1:08:49And I just felt for everybody for having to sit there and
- 1:08:55watch her play Pretty Pretty Princess and try on all these
- 1:08:58dresses. And I can't believe that they
- 1:09:01even went to the store and let this happen.
- 1:09:05It's weird. Yeah, Well, yet again.
- 1:09:08We do get Robyn trying on three different dresses at this first
- 1:09:12store, and the first dress we see her trying on I'm going meh
- 1:09:17doesn't mean anything to me, although you can see her calves
- 1:09:21and her wrists. Which of course brings up the
- 1:09:25topic of modesty. I started yawning.
- 1:09:27I think I fell asleep for a minute and then I was awoken to
- 1:09:30see the second dress. But I was like Oh my gosh, who
- 1:09:36to describe these dresses? I really only wanted to describe
- 1:09:42Did anything stand out to you? No, they were just dresses of
- 1:09:46that time period. So I could make fun of them all
- 1:09:50I'd want, but they're just not in style anymore.
- 1:09:52So you could endlessly make fun of them.
- 1:09:55She just comes out and she says, oh, felt so weird with my legs
- 1:10:04So I agree, the body parts, the body parts showing.
- 1:10:07Let's engage it by that. Yeah, OK.
- 1:10:08Well, 'cause I think both the 1st and 2nd dress are just below
- 1:10:16Quite a scandal. The second dress, however, you
- 1:10:25Now, this was truly a scandal, and Janelle says it's kind of
- 1:10:31shocking. It's way more skin than I've
- 1:10:33ever seen. Robyn clearly doesn't get a lot
- 1:10:40of sun. Those shoulders were
- 1:10:42translucent. I don't know that I've ever seen
- 1:10:47It looks like a dress that you would wear to the office if you
- 1:10:51had an office job and had to dress in business attire.
- 1:10:55Definitely doesn't look like any sort of ceremony type of dress.
- 1:11:00No, almost like pencil skirt,
- 1:11:02but like a full dress. And then but without the
- 1:11:04shoulders. You'd have to wear some sort of
- 1:11:06sweater or something to be presentable in the office,
- 1:11:08honey, unless you're always dressing like a hussy at work.
- 1:11:12Too tempting for those men at the office dressing like a
- 1:11:15common St. whore. Right.
- 1:11:17Now the third dress I do want to
- 1:11:20because it was by far the most
- 1:11:24When Robyn comes out of the dressing room, she's wearing
- 1:11:27this pink slash purple color. What is the actual color?
- 1:11:32Is it magenta hot? Pink.
- 1:11:35Magenta. It's definitely like hot pink
- 1:11:38meets magenta. There's a little purplish hue.
- 1:11:41But this dress has these huge billowy arms.
- 1:11:47Like I don't even know how to describe them other than billowy
- 1:11:49arms. And it has a tight torso down to
- 1:11:52the knees. It's fitted other than these
- 1:11:56gigantic poufy sleeves. I would have probably worn this
- 1:12:00at this time. I would have thought this was so
- 1:12:03cute and fashionista and it's a dress of the times.
- 1:12:09It was a bit hideous. And Robyn, of course, she's just
- 1:12:14having the time of her life wearing this dress.
- 1:12:16She's talking about how she wouldn't be able to do anything
- 1:12:18with the big bellowy arms. She'd have to.
- 1:12:20She couldn't do the dishes because the sleeves would just
- 1:12:23get in everything and blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:12:25And she's just having such a great time trying on these
- 1:12:27dresses and having everybody look at her.
- 1:12:30Because you're going to be doing
- 1:12:32that's supposed to be for your
- 1:12:34OK. You're so funny.
- 1:12:36You're just so funny, Robyn. My God.
- 1:12:40Hysterical. Yeah.
- 1:12:41Everybody but Meri loves this dress.
- 1:12:44And Meri even says, will I be kicked out of the group or
- 1:12:48disowned from the group if I say
- 1:12:51I didn't like it. I'm Team Meri on this one.
- 1:12:55I did not. Maybe in 2013 or 15, whenever
- 1:12:59this was, maybe I would have been a little less critical
- 1:13:02because, you know, at the time I
- 1:13:05questionable fashion choices myself.
- 1:13:07But I was Team Meri on this. I was like, burn it, throw it
- 1:13:10away. No, thank you.
- 1:13:11I always ward weird stuff so I
- 1:13:15can't say anything. I would have worn this.
- 1:13:18After we wrap up recording, you're like, I have to go to the
- 1:13:20closet and throw it away before Chris sees it.
- 1:13:22Oh my God. I pull it out.
- 1:13:25Oh boy. As the wives wrap up their time
- 1:13:28at this Elizabeth Charles shop, Janelle says it was actually
- 1:13:32more fun than she thought it would be.
- 1:13:33And Christine says she didn't see anything that she would like
- 1:13:36to wear at their non vow renewal
- 1:13:40So they didn't have any direct
- 1:13:44want to wear. But I think Robyn may have been
- 1:13:47inspired somewhere deep, deep inside of those billowy sleeves.
- 1:13:51Everything she tried on was business type attire and many
- 1:13:57ladies out there will know that during this time period
- 1:14:02business casual was the look. We would go to the club in
- 1:14:07business casual. That was the style and that's
- 1:14:12exactly what they were trying on.
- 1:14:14So it wasn't dressy enough stuff
- 1:14:19It felt just everyday close to
- 1:14:26what she was even trying on. It didn't feel special, felt
- 1:14:32like something I would have worn
- 1:14:35weekend or to the salon as a hairdresser as I was during this
- 1:14:39time. The outfits were things I would
- 1:14:42have just worn on a day-to-day
- 1:14:44To be honest, it was weird to me
- 1:14:49and they probably were just able to film there and that's part
- 1:14:52of the reason it was chosen. Maybe I don't buy that the
- 1:14:55friend picked this store for them to go to and the fact that
- 1:15:00they picked a store with sizes
- 1:15:08This episode feels like it's got
- 1:15:12whatnot, which we've been talking about this season.
- 1:15:14This is our first season where
- 1:15:16Maybe it's not our first season,
- 1:15:20been beating us over the head with these production driven
- 1:15:22storylines and activities. It's just annoying because when
- 1:15:26you actually stop and think about it, it's like fuck this
- 1:15:27shit. And I agree with you that those
- 1:15:30dresses were everyday look except for the fuchsia billowy
- 1:15:33sleeve. If you wore that like on a
- 1:15:35normal weekend, I'd be like, honey, no.
- 1:15:39I might have. I might have.
- 1:15:41And you know where I would have worn it out to?
- 1:15:43My tiny little podunk town and
- 1:15:46at me. And they did many times.
- 1:15:48I got stared at. Who does this girl think she is?
- 1:15:52Who does she think she is? Also, I have to say, whenever I
- 1:15:59was in a wedding party in my younger days, people were very
- 1:16:05mindful to call ahead to the shops and ask what sizes they
- 1:16:10held because people are of all
- 1:16:15So the fact that you wouldn't,
- 1:16:19driving to another city to go shopping, call ahead and confirm
- 1:16:24that they have plus sizes, I don't buy it.
- 1:16:28No, it's definitely teed up because as we'll get to in the
- 1:16:31second part of this episode now,
- 1:16:34whiplash here. We're going to take a little
- 1:16:36break. We're going to bring you the
- 1:16:38second part of this episode on
- 1:16:39There's a lot happening here in the second-half of this
- 1:16:43episode. We do get to see the other wives
- 1:16:48up to the shop owner that they're coming.
- 1:16:50So this is definitely contrived in ways that are more than just
- 1:16:55our dear friend Kendra suggesting a shop that we go
- 1:16:58visit. Right?
- 1:16:58We'll get some further drama with Kody and the kids.
- 1:17:01We're going to meet some of their Las Vegas neighbors.
- 1:17:03We've got plenty of things coming up on Part 2 of this
- 1:17:07episode. Coming to you on Thursday.
- 1:17:09Kimber, is there anything you'd like for our listeners at home
- 1:17:15Anything that you'd like to give them?
- 1:17:17Any fashion advice? Fuchsia goes with every skin
- 1:17:22tone, ladies. Fuchsia goes with every skin
- 1:17:26tone and Robyn proved it. Pasty see through skin goes with
- 1:17:36Fuchsia goes. I have to get online immediately
- 1:17:43immediately. Immediately, actually.
- 1:17:44Probably would look good on me. Oh my gosh, who am I kidding?
- 1:17:48Actually, fuchsia does make everybody look tan, so yeah,
- 1:17:52except for Robyn. We'll see you on the flip side.
