- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Mark Simone Show on seven ten. Woof jell
- 0:05Speaker 1: me in from Mark.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Here's Ken Rosottom. Very happy Halloween to you. The end
- 0:10Speaker 2: of the week is here. Mark's off on a long weekend.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Former New York City TV news anchor came Rosata Inn
- 0:15Speaker 2: and I was the Morning in Midday TV news anchor
- 0:18Speaker 2: for twenty years. Hey on Channel seven. I did the
- 0:22Speaker 2: same thing over in Channel five before that. These days,
- 0:25Speaker 2: I host a daily show. It's a New Jersey based
- 0:28Speaker 2: news channel that I'm on. It's called on New Jersey
- 0:31Speaker 2: Appropriate right. You could stream it live, or you could
- 0:34Speaker 2: watch the rerun of our shows at ONNJ dot com
- 0:38Speaker 2: on New Jersey ONNJ dot com. I also run a
- 0:42Speaker 2: food website for all new foodies. It's called the Food Dude.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Links to hundreds of thousands of recipes all over the world.
- 0:48Speaker 2: It's free and it is at Thefooddude dot us. Good
- 0:52Speaker 2: to be here with you. We got a lot to
- 0:54Speaker 2: talk about today to wrap up the busy newsweek, but
- 0:56Speaker 2: we want to hear from you. The phone lines are
- 0:58Speaker 2: open one eight hundred two one zero seven to ten.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Massive flooding in New York and the tri State yesterday
- 1:07Speaker 2: did you get caught in any of that. Man, oh man,
- 1:09Speaker 2: the wind, the storm, it was like a nor' easter,
- 1:12Speaker 2: but it wasn't. I guess officially it wasn't a nor' easter,
- 1:15Speaker 2: but nonetheless a huge front. We had one to three
- 1:18Speaker 2: inches of rain, depending on where you were. But some
- 1:20Speaker 2: of the low lying areas, like we know southern Brooklyn,
- 1:22Speaker 2: the coastal areas, they were under feet of standing water
- 1:26Speaker 2: and people in basement apartments got really flooded. At least
- 1:30Speaker 2: two people have died that we know of, so our
- 1:32Speaker 2: prayers for them. Just awful, awful rain. And speaking of
- 1:37Speaker 2: awful rain, awful news. In Jamaica, Hurricane Melissa causing at
- 1:42Speaker 2: least fifty nine deaths that we know of so far,
- 1:46Speaker 2: because it's possible that as they get through all the destruction,
- 1:49Speaker 2: the devastation, they may find more people. Just widespread destruction.
- 1:53Speaker 2: A mother talks about how she's helping her children through
- 1:57Speaker 2: the disaster. I tried to be strong with them, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: but deep inside, I'm crying. I'm really really crying. What
- 2:06Speaker 2: your is like?
- 2:07Speaker 3: Hid it?
- 2:08Speaker 2: We will survive, we will survive, we will survey. Amen
- 2:12Speaker 2: to you, and I mean amen to that. Just an
- 2:14Speaker 2: awful storm that was a Cat five Category five hitting
- 2:17Speaker 2: Jamaica at one hundred and eighty five miles an hour.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I think it's it's ranked the worst, if not one
- 2:22Speaker 2: of the worst storms to hit Landfall in terms of
- 2:25Speaker 2: power in the Atlantic. It's just amazing. Back at home,
- 2:29Speaker 2: the mayor's race continues to tighten. But is it too little,
- 2:33Speaker 2: too late? Here were the three candidates at a recent debate.
- 2:37Speaker 4: I am the last person on this stage that mister
- 2:42Speaker 4: Trump wants to see as mayor.
- 2:44Speaker 5: I am Donald Trump's worst nightmare, as a progressive Muslim
- 2:48Speaker 5: immigrant who actually fights for the things that I believe in.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Oh, if you believe Andrew Como, who's calling up Trump
- 2:54Speaker 4: all the time, I'm going to stand up to him.
- 2:56Speaker 4: John Dammy, I'm going to stand up to him. You
- 2:58Speaker 4: stand up to President Trump, will go. He shows all
- 3:00Speaker 4: the money. Guess what we the citizens lose now.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Andrew Cuomo was on with Larry Menti on Menti in
- 3:06Speaker 2: the Morning today. He recently received an infusion of some
- 3:09Speaker 2: cash one and a half million dollars from former mayor
- 3:12Speaker 2: and billionaire Michael Bloomberg through a political action committee. The question, again,
- 3:16Speaker 2: is is it too little too late Now. Three polls
- 3:19Speaker 2: were released this week and they show the Cuomo has
- 3:22Speaker 2: improved his chances, but that was only four days to go,
- 3:26Speaker 2: so it looks like it's going to take a miracle
- 3:28Speaker 2: at this point. The closest poll is I guess the
- 3:31Speaker 2: Quinnipiac University poll, and that one is showing Cuomo within
- 3:35Speaker 2: ten points of Mamdanni. And while lots of nice improvement,
- 3:38Speaker 2: you remember, it only takes one vote, that's it. If
- 3:40Speaker 2: Mum Donnie has one more vote than the next person,
- 3:42Speaker 2: that's it. There's an Emerson College poll that has mam
- 3:46Speaker 2: Donni twenty five points ahead of Cuomo, and the Marist
- 3:50Speaker 2: poll has Mamdanni sixteen points ahead. So I don't mean
- 3:53Speaker 2: to be the negative Nelly here, but I don't see
- 3:55Speaker 2: how it gets pulled off. Nonetheless, you never know, because
- 3:59Speaker 2: not every body goes voting for mayor. You have a
- 4:01Speaker 2: lot of people who sit it out, go and vote.
- 4:04Speaker 2: You may surprise yourself and everybody and change things. So
- 4:07Speaker 2: we'll see where it goes. By the way, recent survey
- 4:10Speaker 2: shows that get this, sixty nine percent of anyone under
- 4:17Speaker 2: the age of fifty in New York supports Mam Donnie. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 2: let me let me repeat that, sixty nine percent, so
- 4:25Speaker 2: nearly seven and ten of all New Yorkers under the
- 4:29Speaker 2: age fifty and under. Now it's not twenty and under
- 4:32Speaker 2: or thirty and under fifty an under, as I like
- 4:35Speaker 2: to say, they should know better by then they support
- 4:38Speaker 2: Mam Donnie. So at this point, all you on the right,
- 4:41Speaker 2: I say we should sit back, get a bag of popcorn,
- 4:44Speaker 2: and watch as New York implodes with liberalism and socialism
- 4:49Speaker 2: because it doesn't work. It has failed everywhere, it's been tried.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Everything that Mam Donni wants to give you free, free, free,
- 4:57Speaker 2: free has to get paid for by someone from some somewhere,
- 5:00Speaker 2: and that money doesn't exist. And you can't have rent
- 5:03Speaker 2: control you know. Where he comes in, it takes over
- 5:06Speaker 2: and freezes rent. That is done by the rent Control Board.
- 5:10Speaker 2: That's state law. You can't just come in and say,
- 5:12Speaker 2: well I'll sign a mayoral proclamation. Well good luck with that.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It's not enforceable. So this is going to be interesting
- 5:18Speaker 2: to see. And by the way, everybody was like, yeah,
- 5:20Speaker 2: we should freeze the rent. Yeah, I wish we could.
- 5:22Speaker 2: The problem is the city keeps imposing all these rules
- 5:25Speaker 2: on landlords, so they have to maintain their buildings, which
- 5:29Speaker 2: is fine and they should, but that costs money. It
- 5:32Speaker 2: costs millions of dollars. People have this misconception that every
- 5:36Speaker 2: landlord is a billionaire sitting back counting their money, and
- 5:40Speaker 2: that's not always the case. In many cases, it's people
- 5:43Speaker 2: who inherit a building from a relative or whatever, and
- 5:45Speaker 2: now they have to maintain it or they have to
- 5:47Speaker 2: distress sell it. In the meantime, the city comes in,
- 5:49Speaker 2: it says you owe taxes, you have to keep it heated.
- 5:52Speaker 2: If there's anything that breaks down, you got to fix
- 5:54Speaker 2: it immediately. There are all these rules and rags. So yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 2: while there are some landlords who are very wealthy, many
- 6:00Speaker 2: or not. So don't don't paint with such a broad
- 6:02Speaker 2: brushes what I'm saying. Seven ten wore the Voice of
- 6:06Speaker 2: New York. It's Ken Rozottowin from Mark Halloueni Friday. What
- 6:10Speaker 2: are you dressing up as today? Phone lines are open
- 6:12Speaker 2: eight hundred and three to two one zero seven ten.
- 6:16Speaker 2: There's a New Manhattan Institute poll that shows it if
- 6:18Speaker 2: Congresswoman Elise Stephanic from upstate New York, if Elise were
- 6:23Speaker 2: to run against Kathy Hochel for Governor of New York,
- 6:26Speaker 2: Stephanic would beat her right now by one point. New
- 6:30Speaker 2: York City may be blue, but the state is definitely purple.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So while poles are just a momentary snapshot of opinion,
- 6:37Speaker 2: it does show you that New York State is very
- 6:39Speaker 2: much up for grabs and the citizens are just fed
- 6:42Speaker 2: up with the status quo. Flip over to the garden state,
- 6:45Speaker 2: New Jersey. It's a whole different story. Two poles two
- 6:49Speaker 2: days apart have Mikey, Cheryl and Jack Chiarelli a point apart,
- 6:54Speaker 2: well within the margin of error. This was him last night,
- 6:57Speaker 2: by the way, during a town hall that Sean Hannity
- 7:01Speaker 2: had with Fox News Channel. Listen. As he entered the room,
- 7:04Speaker 2: let's go hometown crowd, hometown crowd, it just became a
- 7:23Speaker 2: it just became a Trump rally. To that, Chitterrelly responded, No,
- 7:26Speaker 2: it's a Chitterrelly rally, which I thought was kind of interesting.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Guy that left a little silence in the room. Jackson,
- 7:32Speaker 2: nice man. I've interviewed him myself on my show several
- 7:35Speaker 2: times and here actually had him on here once while
- 7:38Speaker 2: I filled in for I guess no, while yeah, I
- 7:41Speaker 2: filled in for Larry that day. Hard to keep track,
- 7:44Speaker 2: but he's a great guy. We've invited Mikey Cheryl on
- 7:48Speaker 2: this show when I'm in filling in. We've invited her
- 7:50Speaker 2: on the show I do in New Jersey probably fifty times.
- 7:54Speaker 2: You actually get, let's just say, a negative response. They
- 7:58Speaker 2: want nothing to do with with half her talk to
- 8:01Speaker 2: media of any kind except for MSNBC, where they feel
- 8:04Speaker 2: they'll have a friendly audience. That's it. So we'll see
- 8:06Speaker 2: what happens. You know, you have till Tuesday. Early voting
- 8:10Speaker 2: in New Jersey is through this Sunday, so you can
- 8:13Speaker 2: go and early vote till Sunday. Otherwise Monday there is
- 8:17Speaker 2: no voting Tuesday. You vote in person and that's that.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Then we'll I think Tuesday night's going to be a
- 8:23Speaker 2: very very late night. When asked about the polls, Jack
- 8:26Speaker 2: Chidarelli had this to say, especially the early returns.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Our internal poll in twenty one said that we had
- 8:31Speaker 6: a real shot this time. The internal polling says a
- 8:34Speaker 6: whole lot better. But listen, all I could tell is
- 8:36Speaker 6: wherever I go around the state, the energy is electric.
- 8:39Speaker 6: The reception of minority communities has been overwhelming positive, and
- 8:42Speaker 6: when Democratic mayors across the state are endorsing the Republican nominee.
- 8:46Speaker 6: It tells you we're on the summer.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah. So there are four people in New Jersey who
- 8:52Speaker 2: either are still Democrat and endorsed him, or are These
- 8:55Speaker 2: are council members and mayors or actually left the Democrat
- 8:58Speaker 2: Party altogether the Republican Party and endorsed and support him
- 9:02Speaker 2: right now. So all the police unions are all behind
- 9:05Speaker 2: in the fire departments, they're all in support of Jack Cheddarelli.
- 9:10Speaker 2: When I said the early early polling or early results,
- 9:13Speaker 2: what I meant was the early voting that occurred. Jack
- 9:18Speaker 2: talked about the early ballots.
- 9:20Speaker 6: We've seen the greatest number of Republicans returned vote by
- 9:23Speaker 6: mail ballots. That's a very very good sign. And they
- 9:25Speaker 6: went out in last third week of September, and we're
- 9:27Speaker 6: matching them voter for voter here in the six days
- 9:30Speaker 6: or five days of early voting that we've had thus far.
- 9:32Speaker 6: That'll conclude on Sunday. Listen, if we go into election
- 9:35Speaker 6: day within a certain number of points, we're gonna win
- 9:37Speaker 6: this thing.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And now, just because a larger number of Republicans returned ballots,
- 9:45Speaker 2: that doesn't mean every single Republican is going to support
- 9:47Speaker 2: the Republican candidate. I mean, chances are they will, but
- 9:50Speaker 2: you know, you never know. So same thing for the Democrat.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Just because they were talking about, oh, Mikey Cheryl is
- 9:56Speaker 2: edging out Cheddarelli in terms of a return of the ballot,
- 10:00Speaker 2: we got more Cheryl or more Democrat ballots coming in. Again,
- 10:03Speaker 2: that doesn't mean that they're all voting for Mikey Cheryl.
- 10:06Speaker 2: If they're all Democrats sending their ballots in, it could
- 10:09Speaker 2: go the other way. But overall, generally speaking, probably ninety
- 10:13Speaker 2: five percent or more will support their respective candidates and
- 10:16Speaker 2: their respective parties. Now, one thing I find that's interesting
- 10:19Speaker 2: if you go back four years this week exactly one
- 10:22Speaker 2: week actually before election day, four years ago, so a
- 10:25Speaker 2: little under four years ago, there was a Monmouth University
- 10:29Speaker 2: poll that had Governor Murphy eleven points ahead of Jack Chittarelli.
- 10:34Speaker 2: As is typical, all the polls tend to skew to
- 10:37Speaker 2: the left and they always give a better showing for
- 10:40Speaker 2: whoever the Democrat is. But so even though the polls
- 10:44Speaker 2: showed Murphy was eleven points ahead just days before the election,
- 10:47Speaker 2: he only won by three points. So the polls were
- 10:50Speaker 2: off by eight. Well, if that holds true today, if
- 10:54Speaker 2: Chittarelli is behind or ahead, say just by a point,
- 10:57Speaker 2: or they're tied as the polls are showing right now,
- 11:00Speaker 2: generally has a real shot. He may even win by three,
- 11:02Speaker 2: four five points. You never know, but you have to
- 11:06Speaker 2: have to have to vote. If your parents are elderly
- 11:11Speaker 2: and have difficulty getting to the polls, make sure they
- 11:14Speaker 2: have a ride. Okay, if you drive and your friends don't,
- 11:18Speaker 2: make sure they have a ride. Make sure, no matter what,
- 11:21Speaker 2: try to early vote if you can. And if you
- 11:23Speaker 2: want to go on election day, then make sure you
- 11:25Speaker 2: get there. I tend to say, you never know. You
- 11:28Speaker 2: could get stuck at work late. You never know, you
- 11:31Speaker 2: may wake up late. I would try to early vote
- 11:34Speaker 2: if you can between now and Sunday. Don't take the chance.
- 11:37Speaker 2: But make sure, no matter what, whether it's New York
- 11:40Speaker 2: City now or New Jersey, get out and vote. And
- 11:43Speaker 2: then the other thing I want to ask all you
- 11:44Speaker 2: folks in Jersey, don't just vote for governor and call
- 11:48Speaker 2: it a day. You have every Assembly seat up for grabs,
- 11:51Speaker 2: and there's one Senate seat down south it's to fill
- 11:54Speaker 2: a vacancy. Make sure you vote down the ballot, and
- 11:59Speaker 2: if you want to send a message and you are
- 12:02Speaker 2: voting for the Republican candidate for governor, vote A lot
- 12:05Speaker 2: of people say, yeah, I vote for Republicans for president
- 12:08Speaker 2: and governor, and then I vote Democrat for the local offices.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Not a good idea. Not a good idea because you
- 12:13Speaker 2: end up causing gridlock. You've had listen in New Jersey
- 12:17Speaker 2: right now. The governor's a Democrat, State Assembly, state Senate,
- 12:20Speaker 2: the Supreme Court all Democrat control, all of them. You
- 12:24Speaker 2: have the top fifteen cities in New Jersey run by
- 12:28Speaker 2: Democrat mayor's Democrat administrations. The top fifteen all right, New
- 12:31Speaker 2: Jersey goes only about nine and a half million people.
- 12:34Speaker 2: You have both US Senate seats occupied by Democrats, and
- 12:39Speaker 2: you have nine of the twelve Congress seats US Congress
- 12:42Speaker 2: seats that are occupied by Democrats. So you've already given
- 12:46Speaker 2: Democrats a shot. And New Jersey has the highest energy
- 12:49Speaker 2: builds in the nation, some of the highest taxes, the
- 12:53Speaker 2: highest cost for pupil with not always the greatest return
- 12:56Speaker 2: depending on what district we're talking about. So if you
- 12:59Speaker 2: are tired of the expenses and the regulation and allowing
- 13:04Speaker 2: adult men in girls' bathrooms because they wake up thinking
- 13:08Speaker 2: they're women enough. If you're tired of the sanctuary state
- 13:12Speaker 2: and sanctuary city status of New Jersey, stop voting Democrat.
- 13:16Speaker 2: It's as simple as that. It's like the definition of insanity.
- 13:19Speaker 2: You keep doing the same thing over and over again,
- 13:20Speaker 2: expecting a different outcome. Not get off try something different
- 13:24Speaker 2: for once. I was reading some of the blogs last night.
- 13:27Speaker 2: It's amazing how many people who were complaining about the
- 13:30Speaker 2: cost of energy and the cost of taxes and homes
- 13:33Speaker 2: and everything else, and they were saying, but vote blue.
- 13:37Speaker 2: What are you expecting to change? What do you think
- 13:38Speaker 2: is suddenly Mikey Cheryl is just a different person, And
- 13:41Speaker 2: all the people running for Assembly on the left are different,
- 13:44Speaker 2: They're all the same. Mikey Cheryl supported everything. Joe Biden
- 13:48Speaker 2: put up everything. So don't expect the difference if you
- 13:51Speaker 2: keep voting Democrat. Now. The Democrat shutdown is on day
- 13:55Speaker 2: thirty one. Senate Majority Leader John Thune says the Democrats
- 13:59Speaker 2: seemingly never won it to end. It was also a
- 14:01Speaker 2: disturbing signal the Democrats are ready to continue this shut down.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I guess forever. Well. There may be a solution President
- 14:09Speaker 2: Trump is suggesting the Senate used the so called nuclear option.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So right now, when you have a spending plan that
- 14:15Speaker 2: goes from the House to the Senate, and it has
- 14:17Speaker 2: to go in that direction, it starts in the House,
- 14:19Speaker 2: then a spending plan goes to the Senate. The Senate
- 14:21Speaker 2: must pass any spending plan with sixty votes, okay, otherwise
- 14:26Speaker 2: you can have a filibuster. So you need at least
- 14:27Speaker 2: sixty votes. Republicans only have fifty three members of the Senate,
- 14:32Speaker 2: so you need those Democrats to help. Now. Right now,
- 14:35Speaker 2: a couple of Democrats have come across, but there are
- 14:37Speaker 2: still five short, so they need five more Democrats to
- 14:41Speaker 2: make this happen. All we're talking about is a continuing resolution,
- 14:44Speaker 2: not a spending plan. The continuing resolution would simply continue
- 14:49Speaker 2: the spending plan passed last year. That was Biden's spending
- 14:53Speaker 2: plan passed by Democrats. And all the Republicans are asking
- 14:56Speaker 2: is you continue it for four more weeks, But the
- 14:59Speaker 2: Democrats don't want to do it. Chuck Schumer got to
- 15:02Speaker 2: put my glasses at the tip of my nose when
- 15:03Speaker 2: I say his name to get in the mood. Chuck
- 15:06Speaker 2: Schuma is saying that no, we will not budge. Okay,
- 15:10Speaker 2: Now tomorrow you will have forty two million Americans not
- 15:13Speaker 2: receiving Snap benefits, so no food stamps. People are going
- 15:16Speaker 2: to rely on soup kitchens and whatnot, thanks to the Democrats.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Because every Republican, I think one, only one Republican in
- 15:24Speaker 2: the Senate is not voting for this. Everyone else has
- 15:26Speaker 2: voted for this. So it's the Democrats. This is the
- 15:29Speaker 2: Democrat government shutdown, the Schumer shutdown. Don't let them tell
- 15:33Speaker 2: you otherwise, because every Republican is trying to reopen the
- 15:36Speaker 2: government right now. Even CNN is showing that Americans believe
- 15:39Speaker 2: this is the fault of the Democrats. President Trump's approval
- 15:43Speaker 2: writing has actually gone up a point since the government
- 15:46Speaker 2: shutdown has taken place. Seven ten WR the Voice of
- 15:50Speaker 2: New York. Mark has the day off. Kendra's out of
- 15:52Speaker 2: filling in. We'll take your calls next one to eight
- 15:55Speaker 2: hundred three two one zero seven ten. Partly sunny today,
- 15:58Speaker 2: highsmid fifties, windy. Make sure you bundle up tonight for
- 16:02Speaker 2: the trick retreating, and just a bit we'll speak with
- 16:04Speaker 2: New Jersey Republican State Senator Michael Testa about the federal
- 16:08Speaker 2: Schumer Democrat government shutdown on the fact that's starting tomorrow,
- 16:11Speaker 2: we'll have eight hundred thousand New Jersey Snap recipients not
- 16:15Speaker 2: getting their SNAP benefits. So that is a horrible thing.
- 16:18Speaker 2: We hope this can get resolve soon the time now
- 16:21Speaker 2: ten twenty two, will be right back.
- 16:23Speaker 1: This is the Mark Simone Show on seven to ten
- 16:26Speaker 1: wr Ken Fro Today.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Here's Ken Rosatto.
- 16:30Speaker 7: Good to be with you.
- 16:31Speaker 2: We go to the phones right now. Jay, Good morning,
- 16:33Speaker 2: you're on the air.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Good morning, Ken, How are you?
- 16:36Speaker 2: I'm good? Thank you good.
- 16:38Speaker 5: I just are illustrious Governor Murphy's press police regarding.
- 16:46Speaker 2: You know what are you're going to repeat yourself because
- 16:48Speaker 2: my headphones have a short. Please say that one more time, Jay,
- 16:51Speaker 2: Now I got them. Midge.
- 16:53Speaker 5: I just wonder please that New Jersey's Governor Murphy put
- 16:57Speaker 5: out regarding the SNAP benefits.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yes, you know what I didn't see? Did you just
- 17:01Speaker 2: put out a new press release?
- 17:02Speaker 5: Now, ate, yes, look at that Trump administration's failure to snap.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Oh, of course it's the Trump administration. So you have
- 17:11Speaker 2: like three hundred and fifty four hundred Republicans supporting a
- 17:15Speaker 2: continuing resolution, a Democrat spending plan that was passed a
- 17:19Speaker 2: year ago, that was under the Biden administration. That was
- 17:22Speaker 2: perfectly fine for them then, but now we will want
- 17:26Speaker 2: to extend it four weeks. That's it, so that we
- 17:29Speaker 2: can keep the government open, give people the Schnap benefits,
- 17:32Speaker 2: and then work on a new spending plan for the
- 17:34Speaker 2: next year. They won't give us five more votes. And
- 17:38Speaker 2: yet somehow it's Trump's failure. Yeah, that's right, Well it
- 17:41Speaker 2: makes total sense. You know what the American people are
- 17:44Speaker 2: calling it bs a Mergan. Nobody has just heard you
- 17:47Speaker 2: say that he's the least effective governor I think we've
- 17:51Speaker 2: ever had in New Jersey. It's a joke and glad
- 17:54Speaker 2: to see him go audio. So you notice you notice
- 17:57Speaker 2: that Mikey Cheryl thinks so little of him that he's
- 17:59Speaker 2: not camped painting with her. Jay, thank you so much,
- 18:02Speaker 2: appreciate the call. We go to Steve in Manhattan. Good morning.
- 18:09Speaker 8: Right there, kend and you are we belong on the airwaves.
- 18:14Speaker 8: And remember this year, this year we have two halloweens.
- 18:18Speaker 8: We have one today and we also have one in
- 18:20Speaker 8: November fourth. I just want to remind people Ken this
- 18:25Speaker 8: is important that we have to get out because there's
- 18:27Speaker 8: other people on the ballot and the ballot initiatives in
- 18:31Speaker 8: New York City one through six, ballance two three and four.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Folks, everyone's putting a big no there that takes away
- 18:39Speaker 3: your power in your neighborhood, your community, to stop developers
- 18:43Speaker 3: from going in there and doing whatever they want. All
- 18:46Speaker 3: the power will go to the mayor. Pitch a man, Danny.
- 18:48Speaker 3: With this power, he'll put homeless shelters in your neighborhood.
- 18:51Speaker 3: He'll put thousing projects. And if you don't own a
- 18:54Speaker 3: home or a condo, it still affects you. You're renting.
- 18:56Speaker 3: You might have a nice neighborhood in the South sho State,
- 18:59Speaker 3: and I bitle the housing project next door to you.
- 19:02Speaker 3: No on two, three and four proposals, folks, let's not
- 19:06Speaker 3: get caught up and all the things, because we have
- 19:08Speaker 3: there's seven council members who are Republicans. A couple of
- 19:12Speaker 3: those late races were real close. Yes, So I'm pulling
- 19:15Speaker 3: my cards right at the table.
- 19:16Speaker 7: Steve.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I know you're right, and I'm with you because and look,
- 19:19Speaker 2: I love Curtis. I pray every day for the miracle.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I can't vote in New York. I live in New Jersey,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but I pray for him. You know it's the truth.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Too many people just vote for the top office and
- 19:28Speaker 2: walk out. You gotta go down the ballot and take
- 19:31Speaker 2: a minute and study the baut You can go online
- 19:33Speaker 2: and get the ballots they sent you sample ballots in
- 19:35Speaker 2: the mail. Sit down, read the ballots over the weekend.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Make sure you know exactly what you're gonna do when
- 19:40Speaker 2: you get in the voting booth. Don't look at the
- 19:42Speaker 2: at the proposals. First thing. When you walk in the booth,
- 19:45Speaker 2: know in advance what you're going to be voting for.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I'm with you. We go to Jerry and New Jersey.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Good morning to you.
- 19:51Speaker 9: Good morning Ken.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I believe the Democrats purposely keeping the government clothes until
- 19:57Speaker 3: after the election.
- 19:58Speaker 8: I agree, so they can get some ask into.
- 20:00Speaker 5: The New Jersey election, Virginia and New York.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I think you're one hundred percent right. I guarantee you're right.
- 20:06Speaker 2: If I'm sorry to step on you, Jerry, I bet
- 20:08Speaker 2: you by Thursday, you'll see that they'll somehow come up
- 20:11Speaker 2: with the extra votes in the Senate. And that's why
- 20:14Speaker 2: the idea. I know President Trump is saying go nuclear.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I don't know about that, because once you go nuclear.
- 20:19Speaker 2: That's it. Once you've let the cat out of the bag,
- 20:21Speaker 2: that's it exactly. I'm with you. And then if you remember,
- 20:24Speaker 2: if we becoming the minority in the Senate, then we
- 20:27Speaker 2: have no say against the Democrats. I don't know that
- 20:29Speaker 2: that's such a great idea, but I'm with you very much, Jerry.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Have a great day and happy Halloween,
- 20:35Speaker 2: and we go to Vincent and Brooklyn. My friend, how
- 20:36Speaker 2: are you.
- 20:37Speaker 7: Good morning, Ken? I'm fine. Ken. You're right on the
- 20:40Speaker 7: money when you talk about all the rules and regulations
- 20:44Speaker 7: that homeowners have to comply with in the state of
- 20:48Speaker 7: New York and in the City of New York. Can
- 20:51Speaker 7: any rent increase? I gave my tenants because every year
- 20:56Speaker 7: my taxes on my houses keep going up. This year
- 21:01Speaker 7: was offset by a new one. Now the city council
- 21:05Speaker 7: made a law. I have to have an EPA certified
- 21:10Speaker 7: lead inspector come in each apartment to inspect it for
- 21:16Speaker 7: lead fume that maybe leftover from one hundred years ago.
- 21:22Speaker 7: First off, nobody uses lead based paint anymore. The only
- 21:28Speaker 7: place where and I used to work at a steel
- 21:30Speaker 7: factory almost sixty years ago. We used to I used
- 21:35Speaker 7: to fabricate fuel tanks for buildings, gas stations and for
- 21:40Speaker 7: home heating oil. And the red paint on there is
- 21:43Speaker 7: what's called red oxide. That's the only place it was used.
- 21:48Speaker 7: And then you would paint over it. So now, despite
- 21:52Speaker 7: the fact that the lead paint becomes innocuous when you
- 21:56Speaker 7: paint over it, in the past, I could self certify,
- 22:01Speaker 7: especially in the case of my homes, all the walls
- 22:05Speaker 7: were ripped out, the houses were renovated many times in
- 22:09Speaker 7: the last hundred years, and in the past I could
- 22:13Speaker 7: certify that there were no children under six years old
- 22:16Speaker 7: in the apartment, that there's no kids eating led of paintships,
- 22:22Speaker 7: where are the mother or father looking at these kids
- 22:25Speaker 7: the ghetto?
- 22:25Speaker 2: And that just wait until you have a communist mayor
- 22:28Speaker 2: in this I'm sorry, democratic socialist mayor in this city.
- 22:32Speaker 2: You'll have if you think the regulations are bad, now
- 22:35Speaker 2: forget about it. It's gonna be crazy.
- 22:37Speaker 7: And on Mark Simone's advice, my girlfriend and I are
- 22:41Speaker 7: already looking at a second home in Fairfield, Connecticut.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Hey, yeah, listen, come over to Jersey. If we get
- 22:48Speaker 2: Chitarelli in come and live with us in Jersey. It's
- 22:50Speaker 2: a good place.
- 22:51Speaker 7: Okay, I'm gonna teach you some Italian. It's not Hitarelli.
- 22:54Speaker 7: It's chatting.
- 22:58Speaker 2: This discussion.
- 22:59Speaker 7: Now, yes, it calls sauce gravy.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Well think about it in terms of sugo. That's what
- 23:08Speaker 2: it is. Sugo. All right, Vincent, I love you, brother,
- 23:10Speaker 2: God bless you. I have a good Halloween, good weekend.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Seven ten wr the time ten thirty four, and a
- 23:15Speaker 2: little later we'll speak with New Jersey Republican state Senator
- 23:18Speaker 2: Michael Testa about the Schumer Democrat government shutdown and starting tomorrow,
- 23:22Speaker 2: eight hundred thousand New Jersey residents who depend on Snap
- 23:25Speaker 2: to eat will not be getting their funds.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Now more of the Marximone show on seven ten wor
- 23:33Speaker 1: filling in for Mark.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Here again is Ken Rosado. And it is a Friday morning.
- 23:37Speaker 2: It is Halloween. Are you dressing up? Are you going out?
- 23:40Speaker 4: At?
- 23:40Speaker 2: What age? Is it too old to go out? You
- 23:44Speaker 2: know that Halloween actually has its date going back to
- 23:48Speaker 2: the eighth century, and it was adults who dressed up
- 23:51Speaker 2: for Halloween. It was a religious holiday. Just give me
- 23:53Speaker 2: a little son you could chat about. No, it was
- 23:55Speaker 2: not a pagan holiday. It was similar to Sowen but
- 23:58Speaker 2: it's not a pagan holiday. It's actually a Christian holiday. Anyway.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Mark is off today, Ken Rozotto in New Jersey, Republican
- 24:06Speaker 2: state Senator Michael Testa is here to talk about the
- 24:09Speaker 2: federal Schumer Democrat government shut down on the fact that's
- 24:12Speaker 2: starting tomorrow's SNAP benefits will not go out to eight
- 24:15Speaker 2: hundred thousand New Jersey residents. We say good morning to Senator.
- 24:20Speaker 9: Good morning.
- 24:20Speaker 3: It's good to be back with you.
- 24:22Speaker 9: And look, I think for Halloween, I heard what you
- 24:25Speaker 9: were saying earlier. When I grew up. You know, I
- 24:28Speaker 9: was a child of the eighties. When you were about
- 24:30Speaker 9: twelve thirteen, you were supposed to stop trick or treating,
- 24:33Speaker 9: that's for sure. And I can tell you at my house,
- 24:36Speaker 9: I see some kids who are you know, probably able
- 24:38Speaker 9: to drink alcoholic beverages legally, who are still, you know,
- 24:42Speaker 9: walking around my neighborhood asking for candy. I don't necessarily
- 24:45Speaker 9: love that idea. I'm happy that they get in the spirit,
- 24:48Speaker 9: and I'm glad that you pointed out that All Hallows
- 24:51Speaker 9: Eve is not a pagan holiday.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Right, believe it or not. I mean, the term hollows
- 24:55Speaker 2: refers to the Saints because tomorrow is All Saints' Day.
- 25:00Speaker 2: All Hollows Eve is the eve before All Hollows which
- 25:03Speaker 2: was All Saints Day. That's where it started eighth century
- 25:05Speaker 2: and it was a way of honoring the saints in
- 25:06Speaker 2: the church. But a lot of people today it's been
- 25:08Speaker 2: co opted and people, oh, it's a pagan holiday. No,
- 25:11Speaker 2: it wasn't. So that's why we dressed up. It was
- 25:13Speaker 2: you dressed up like a saint, or you're dressed up
- 25:15Speaker 2: like a skeleton to remind you of your mortality. But anyway,
- 25:19Speaker 2: I digress. We should talk about the Let's talk about
- 25:22Speaker 2: the Snap situation. Eight hundred thousand New Jersey residents who
- 25:25Speaker 2: depend on Snap to eat. As of tomorrow, the benefits
- 25:28Speaker 2: are cut off. And that's all because five Democrats in
- 25:31Speaker 2: the US Senate will not shift ranks and vote with Republicans.
- 25:35Speaker 2: This is awful.
- 25:37Speaker 9: Look, they're using needy people as pawns. And let's also
- 25:43Speaker 9: take note of the fact that we have air traffic
- 25:47Speaker 9: controllers right now at large airports like Newark Airport who
- 25:51Speaker 9: are not being paid, working multiple shifts. From what I'm told,
- 25:56Speaker 9: they're getting paychecks that literally say zero on them given them,
- 26:00Speaker 9: but they say zero I don't know if that's one
- 26:03Speaker 9: hundred percent true or not, but that's the rumor that
- 26:05Speaker 9: I've heard. This shutdown is one hundred percent due to
- 26:10Speaker 9: the Democrats. It has nothing to do with President Trump.
- 26:14Speaker 9: And it amazes me how supposed legitimate news sources are
- 26:19Speaker 9: trying to put the blame on the Republicans, trying to
- 26:22Speaker 9: put the blame on President Trump. And they use the line, well,
- 26:26Speaker 9: you have control of the White House, the Senate, and
- 26:30Speaker 9: the Congress. And I say, you know what's really sad
- 26:33Speaker 9: about that? You folks don't even have the intellectual honesty
- 26:37Speaker 9: to say that it takes sixty votes in the Senate
- 26:41Speaker 9: to overcome the filibuster, which the Democrats have rejected thirteen times.
- 26:46Speaker 9: They have voted no thirteen times. And make no mistake,
- 26:50Speaker 9: Andy Kim and Corey Booker, the US senators from the
- 26:53Speaker 9: state of New Jersey, have voted no each and every time.
- 26:56Speaker 9: If people are missing out on benefits, blame them.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Just to remind everyone, we're listening to New Jersey Republican
- 27:03Speaker 2: state Senator Michael Testa. This is Ken Rosotto in for
- 27:05Speaker 2: Mark Simone today on your Friday Halloween, and this is
- 27:09Speaker 2: what is sad. We don't know if they're truly stupid,
- 27:13Speaker 2: and I think in many cases they just ignorant. Some
- 27:15Speaker 2: of the younger reporters don't get it, they really don't,
- 27:18Speaker 2: or if they're just being disingenuous. They know. But it
- 27:21Speaker 2: doesn't fit the narrative to say that it's the fault
- 27:23Speaker 2: of five Democrats. Listen, whenever we had, and we had
- 27:27Speaker 2: many times in history, Democrats in charge and there was
- 27:30Speaker 2: a handful of Republicans holding things up, all of the
- 27:33Speaker 2: Democrats and mainstream media blamed the Republicans. It was the
- 27:36Speaker 2: Republican shutdown, the Republican shutdown, and we took a hit
- 27:39Speaker 2: for it on the Republican side. You can't have it
- 27:41Speaker 2: the opposite way. You can't say, now that the Democrats
- 27:44Speaker 2: are in the minority and the Republicans have the majority,
- 27:47Speaker 2: that the five votes we need in the Senate, that
- 27:49Speaker 2: it's still the Republican's fault. How could it be the
- 27:52Speaker 2: Republican's fault both ways?
- 27:55Speaker 9: Well, that just goes to show you how biased the
- 27:57Speaker 9: media has been. And thank God for people like you
- 28:00Speaker 9: who are actually intellectually honest and not intellectually disingenuous, as
- 28:04Speaker 9: so many members of the media have been, including where
- 28:07Speaker 9: we saw it probably at its worst during the COVID shutdowns,
- 28:12Speaker 9: but we don't need to get to that. Look, I
- 28:13Speaker 9: released a statement that really put the blame where it
- 28:18Speaker 9: belongs in the lapse of the Democrats in Washington. I
- 28:21Speaker 9: called on Governor Murphy and I'm glad that he I
- 28:24Speaker 9: don't know if he directly responded to my release, but
- 28:27Speaker 9: I'm really happy to see Governor Murphy and the majority
- 28:30Speaker 9: Senate President's Katarian Assembly Speaker Coughlan announced an accelerated delivery
- 28:35Speaker 9: of forty two point five million dollars in food and
- 28:37Speaker 9: hunger grants. Because I can tell you I represent Cumberland
- 28:40Speaker 9: County and Cumberland County is one of the two poorest
- 28:43Speaker 9: counties in the state of New Jersey, with families that
- 28:46Speaker 9: desperately need food, they desperately need distance, and this will
- 28:52Speaker 9: go a long way to do that. So this is
- 28:54Speaker 9: one area where I will say that Governor Murphy, Senate
- 28:57Speaker 9: President's Katari, and Assembly Speaker Coughland have acted. Of course,
- 29:01Speaker 9: what did they do though? They blamed the Republicans in
- 29:04Speaker 9: Washington as well, instead of just accepting it and saying,
- 29:07Speaker 9: you know what, what's going on in Washington is ridiculous.
- 29:10Speaker 9: They could have kept it neutral, but no, what did
- 29:12Speaker 9: they do. They blamed the Republicans in Washington. So yet
- 29:16Speaker 9: more of the spin that is just completely false.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Well, the biggest, the biggest joke, Senator, is that this
- 29:23Speaker 2: is not a budget plan. This is only a continuation
- 29:26Speaker 2: of last year's budget plan, which all the Democrats voted
- 29:29Speaker 2: for to approve. So it was good enough a year
- 29:31Speaker 2: ago when Biden was president, but it's suddenly not good
- 29:34Speaker 2: enough for one more month so that they could get
- 29:36Speaker 2: back open the government again and vote on a new
- 29:38Speaker 2: spending plan. It's obvious they know that they're not going
- 29:41Speaker 2: to get anything that they want for the new spending plan.
- 29:43Speaker 2: So they're just trying to play like a bunch of kids,
- 29:46Speaker 2: you know, on the playground, taking their ball and their
- 29:48Speaker 2: bat and going home. And they're just being childish and
- 29:51Speaker 2: in the meantime they're making people suffer.
- 29:54Speaker 9: They absolutely are, and very similar to rama manual, Rama manual,
- 29:59Speaker 9: sort of the mass head if we remember, for Democrat philosophy,
- 30:04Speaker 9: never allow a crisis to go to waste. And the
- 30:08Speaker 9: Democrats in Washington, including United States Senators Corey Booker and
- 30:13Speaker 9: Andy Kim, are not allowing this manufactured crisis to go
- 30:17Speaker 9: to waste.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Well, according to CNN, right now, the American people are
- 30:21Speaker 2: blaming the Democrats for it. In fact, President Trump's approval
- 30:24Speaker 2: rating has gone up a point since the government's shut down.
- 30:27Speaker 2: So and in spite of that fact, President Trump saying
- 30:29Speaker 2: we have to end it. He could. The way it's going,
- 30:31Speaker 2: he could keep the shutdown going two more months. His
- 30:33Speaker 2: approval rating will keep going up. He's saying, no, end
- 30:36Speaker 2: it now, Just go nuclear, get fifty one votes instead
- 30:40Speaker 2: of sixty, change the rules of the Senate and make
- 30:42Speaker 2: it happen. The problem is once you go nuclear, once,
- 30:45Speaker 2: that's that, and we don't want to We don't want
- 30:47Speaker 2: to ruin that rule, all right. State Senator New Jersey
- 30:51Speaker 2: Michael Testa, always a pleasure talking to you. Fingers cross
- 30:54Speaker 2: at this stops because real people are really going to suffer,
- 30:57Speaker 2: and we hope the Democrats come around. We appreciate you
- 31:00Speaker 2: coming on today. Happy Halloween, Bete, Happy Halloween.
- 31:03Speaker 9: Thank you so much for.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Having me, you, bet thank you. Mostly sunny, a little
- 31:06Speaker 2: drier today, his it's going to be probably mid fifties
- 31:10Speaker 2: but very windy, so make sure you bundle the kids
- 31:13Speaker 2: up It's Ken Roseotto win from Mark on your Halloween
- 31:16Speaker 2: Friday seven ten wo R. We're coming right back now.
- 31:19Speaker 1: More of the Mark Simone Show on seven ten wor.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Filling in for Mark.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Here again is Ken Rosatto. Good to be here on
- 31:28Speaker 2: your Friday Halloween seven ten wor is the voice of
- 31:32Speaker 2: New York Phone Lines opened one eight hundred three two
- 31:35Speaker 2: one zero seven ten. We go to Jan in Asbury Park.
- 31:38Speaker 10: Good morning, Hi, Ken, Thanks for pointing out about how
- 31:43Speaker 10: Halloween is a religious holiday and I like that you
- 31:46Speaker 10: pointed out how it shows good and evil, and I
- 31:50Speaker 10: was thinking of the opposites of good and evil that
- 31:53Speaker 10: happened that we should look at. That was an interesting point.
- 31:56Speaker 10: I don't think a lot of people knew what you shared.
- 31:58Speaker 10: That people step like saints and then people dressed up
- 32:02Speaker 10: like skeletons that showed the good and evil.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Yep, that's exactly thinking how.
- 32:05Speaker 10: The opposite of the good and evil are That would
- 32:08Speaker 10: represent what you're talking about. Like Jesus gave his life
- 32:12Speaker 10: his blood for us, and then vampires sucked the blood
- 32:16Speaker 10: out of us. Yeah, and Jesus died for us so
- 32:19Speaker 10: that we could live forever in eternity, in the best way,
- 32:23Speaker 10: and then people go around like zombies and vampires, walking
- 32:28Speaker 10: like the walking dead instead of the walking that lived.
- 32:31Speaker 10: And just another thing I thought about is that you know,
- 32:34Speaker 10: children go around and they get candy and they get
- 32:38Speaker 10: get and that's okay, you give because people are still giving.
- 32:42Speaker 2: But all right, Jen, I don't mean to cut you
- 32:44Speaker 2: off with at the top of the hoar with news,
- 32:45Speaker 2: but all good messages and we appreciate the call. Partly
- 32:48Speaker 2: sunny today heismid fifties. Ken Risotto went from mark Halloween
- 32:52Speaker 2: Friday coming up later in the show, we talked with
- 32:53Speaker 2: Republican New York City Councilwoman Joanne Ariona seven ten wo
- 32:58Speaker 2: r
