- 3:12Speaker 1: launch a production house. And actually, as we speak, our
- 3:15Speaker 1: LLC paperwork is like being reviewed by the business gods,
- 3:21Speaker 1: the business overlords, i should say, whoever the little gremlins
- 3:26Speaker 1: are review all of our LLC paperwork. Um, hopefully they
- 3:31Speaker 1: don't give us any issues. But it's thanks to all
- 3:34Speaker 1: of our funders that we've been able to take the
- 3:37Speaker 1: steps necessary truly formalized look At Lot of productions into
- 3:40Speaker 1: a legit multimedia production house. Everything from paying the attorneys,
- 3:45Speaker 1: the filing fees, you know, talking to accountants and developing
- 3:50Speaker 1: new logos and new shows and just new projects in
- 3:55Speaker 1: the look At universe. So that's all thanks to our
- 3:58Speaker 1: funders and thanks to this campaign in and the money
- 4:01Speaker 1: that has been contributed so far. Yeah, and there is

- 4:35Speaker 1: build with Joy, Yak Gabriel, Jo Galifa, how to Go
- 4:39Speaker 1: On Steen, Joanna of the Unapologetically Street series, UM, and
- 4:45Speaker 1: many more. We also want to thank our funders. We
- 4:47Speaker 1: have one, eight nine funders. We want to thank all
- 4:50Speaker 1: of them individually. So if you are a funder, keep
- 4:53Speaker 1: listening to the end of this and we will thank
- 4:57Speaker 1: a new group of funders, so keep listening to hear
- 5:01Speaker 1: your name. Yeah. And also you know we have some updates.
- 5:04Speaker 1: We have some new projects that we want to formally
- 5:07Speaker 1: talk about on the show on Look at That Radio.
- 5:09Speaker 1: If you've been following us across all socials, you've already
- 5:13Speaker 1: seen these announcements UM, but we do want to share
- 5:16Speaker 1: with you all on the podcasts and because of all
- 5:20Speaker 1: of your contributions, we have been able to get some
- 5:22Speaker 1: new projects off of the ground, which has been really exciting.
- 5:26Speaker 1: This past month alone, we have released teasers for a
- 5:30Speaker 1: new show, we launched a book club and we're also
- 5:34Speaker 1: reworking our Patreon, so we want to talk about that
- 5:37Speaker 1: today before we get into our amazing interview with one
- 5:40Speaker 1: of our favorite people in the entire world. So before that,
- 5:44Speaker 1: we do want to share some quick updates with you,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and the first one being UM that I launched a
- 5:50Speaker 1: book club under look at that our productions, which has
- 5:54Speaker 1: been really exciting and we have like over fifty members
- 5:58Speaker 1: and we're growing and just want to let's talk about
- 6:02Speaker 1: the book club for a little bit. And so I
- 6:05Speaker 1: launched a book club called Locas Lipros and it's a
- 6:09Speaker 1: book club for film nerds. Each month, I will select
- 6:13Speaker 1: a book readden by a BIPOC or Latin X author
- 6:17Speaker 1: and we will also have a virtual discussion together via
- 6:20Speaker 1: Patreon at the end of the month, and there's also
- 6:23Speaker 1: some opportunities to meet slash speak with the authors involved. Um,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I already have the next couple of months planned out,
- 6:31Speaker 1: which is really exciting. And UM, you know this idea,
- 6:36Speaker 1: you know, I really resisted launching a book club mile
- 6:39Speaker 1: and I have been talking about it for many years.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Doing it underlook at the radio. I was like, no,
- 6:45Speaker 1: there's so many great book clubs already, Like why should
- 6:50Speaker 1: I launch one myself. But you know, I will say
- 6:53Speaker 1: that after quarantine or during quarantine, during the I was
- 6:57Speaker 1: reading a lot and I wanted to discus us these
- 7:00Speaker 1: books with people, and I had nobody to talk about
- 7:02Speaker 1: it with, and I would like post the pictures of
- 7:05Speaker 1: the books that I was reading on my Instagram and informally,
- 7:08Speaker 1: like folks that follow me my little digital community, we
- 7:11Speaker 1: would talk about the different books, and so that really
- 7:14Speaker 1: pushed me to create the book club under a look
- 7:16Speaker 1: at that our productions, and so I'm really excited. There
- 7:20Speaker 1: was like a cute little shoot that went along with it,
- 7:22Speaker 1: because you know, we have to do visuals with any
- 7:25Speaker 1: new project, and so yeah, to join, you just have
- 7:29Speaker 1: to become a member on Patreon dot com slash look
- 7:33Speaker 1: at Underscore Radio. And this month we are reading Eat
- 7:36Speaker 1: the Mouth That Feeds You by Caribbean Ferragosa. She is
- 7:39Speaker 1: a local author, writer, amazing person and so we will
- 7:45Speaker 1: be discussing that book at the end of the month,
- 7:46Speaker 1: and we also have an interview with her that I
- 7:49Speaker 1: will be sharing on the Patreon what I love about
- 7:55Speaker 1: Lokas Libros. In addition to the adorable logo which is
- 7:59Speaker 1: so freaking cute, Mica Tomorrow made it. And if you've
- 8:04Speaker 1: been following the look at Our Productions journey, you know
- 8:07Speaker 1: Mica is our is our graphic designer and she has
- 8:12Speaker 1: drawn the Locals Libros logo, the Marieta logo we'll talk
- 8:16Speaker 1: about that next, the look at That Our Productions logo
- 8:20Speaker 1: and our new look look at Our Radio logo. So
- 8:24Speaker 1: thank you all again for contributing to our campaign because
- 8:27Speaker 1: we love being able to pay everybody who creates under
- 8:32Speaker 1: the look at Our Productions umbrella. So in addition to
- 8:36Speaker 1: the logo which is so cute for Locals Libros um
- 8:40Speaker 1: it's already a highly successful book club and it hasn't
- 8:43Speaker 1: even had its first meet. It's like super successful. And
- 8:49Speaker 1: if you ask me, yeah, you haven't even had your
- 8:55Speaker 1: first meeting and you have like sixty members. Yeah, it's exciting,
- 9:03Speaker 1: it's very good. So well thanks getting there. You can
- 9:10Speaker 1: join for eight dollars and you have access to the
- 9:13Speaker 1: book of the month plus a discussion. If you're not
- 9:17Speaker 1: able to contribute, that's fine. You could always read along
- 9:19Speaker 1: at your own pace. You just will lose out on
- 9:22Speaker 1: the discussion, but you know, as always go at your
- 9:24Speaker 1: own page, do what you can contribute what you can. Um.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But that also leads us to another announcement that we
- 9:32Speaker 1: have about a new podcast that Mama is that Mama
- 9:37Speaker 1: has created and it is hosting and it's also not
- 9:40Speaker 1: only a podcast, but a web series. Because you know
- 9:42Speaker 1: that I look at the look at the other productions.
- 9:44Speaker 1: We have to do it big, we have to do
- 9:46Speaker 1: it all. It can't just be one little thing. It
- 9:49Speaker 1: has to be an entire production, and that is what
- 9:52Speaker 1: we are seeing with Marijuan at Us. So Mama, let's
- 9:55Speaker 1: talk about it. Yes, yes, thank you, UM, it's true.
- 9:59Speaker 1: With yes said is true, I mean, this is really
- 10:02Speaker 1: exciting because like look at Thought our Productions, this is
- 10:06Speaker 1: a multimedia project. So if you head to Spotify or
- 10:12Speaker 1: any of the podcast streaming platforms and you plug in Marijuana,
- 10:16Speaker 1: a podcast for poth heads, you will find the official
- 10:19Speaker 1: trailer for Marijuana. Go ahead and subscribe because the pilot
- 10:24Speaker 1: episode is coming soon. It's going to be dropping in
- 10:28Speaker 1: a matter of days, weeks. We'll see, we'll see anything
- 10:34Speaker 1: is possible. To make sure you subscribe, you also want
- 10:37Speaker 1: to go to YouTube and subscribe to the look at
- 10:40Speaker 1: Thought our Productions YouTube channel. We actually have like a
- 10:43Speaker 1: good amount of work up there. We have short films,
- 10:46Speaker 1: we have event footage, we have podcasting videos from our
- 10:51Speaker 1: recording sessions at ESPACIU pre Pandemic when we recorded in
- 10:55Speaker 1: boil Heights. So make sure you subscribe to our YouTube
- 10:58Speaker 1: channel because I will all ob posting marijuana episodes to
- 11:04Speaker 1: the YouTube channel. Because it's also like a sketch comedy series.
- 11:09Speaker 1: So we have interviews, we have guests, we have musical numbers,
- 11:13Speaker 1: we have sketches, we have parodies. It's the whole thing,
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's the whole nine, So you can expect some really
- 11:20Speaker 1: fun guests. All the guests are stoners, All the guests
- 11:24Speaker 1: are pot heads. Not everybody is necessarily smoking on No,
- 11:27Speaker 1: all of the guests are smoking on camera. At this point,
- 11:29Speaker 1: everyone's smoking on camera. Everybody's down, everybody's comfortable. So the
- 11:34Speaker 1: beautiful thing is that there is so much content here
- 11:37Speaker 1: that there is also a Patreon community for marijuana. At
- 11:41Speaker 1: ten dollars a month, you can get bonus episodes, bonus interviews,
- 11:46Speaker 1: extended footage, BTS footage from the web series as well
- 11:52Speaker 1: as the podcast. You can look forward to hearing from
- 11:56Speaker 1: guests like JASMINEA Yeah, Rude Johnson, Susie Green aka Well,
- 12:01Speaker 1: her name is Susie plus Antia a k a. Susie
- 12:03Speaker 1: Green's Edwin Bodny Yvette. Actually who is Evett Montoya, Leana
- 12:09Speaker 1: ruiz A, Lily Skates a Lot, Sister Irie and so
- 12:11Speaker 1: many more, so many more, really fun, really cool potheads.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I mean, the list goes on and on, so make
- 12:17Speaker 1: sure you subscribe everywhere and you also become a patron. Yeah, okay, Wait,
- 12:24Speaker 1: can I also say that Marijuaneda is also a very
- 12:28Speaker 1: highly anticipated project without there being an actual pilot episode yet.
- 12:34Speaker 1: This is also this is also true. There's no episode yet.
- 12:36Speaker 1: We have press, honeys, we have press, we have trailers,
- 12:40Speaker 1: we have teasers, we have pressed, but no actual episode yet,
- 12:46Speaker 1: a true full length episode. So I love it. Brand
- 12:50Speaker 1: highly anticipated, much anticipated. People want it. It's exciting. Yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. It is ru Um. There's been
- 13:02Speaker 1: a lot of buzz. People are excited, Folks are looking
- 13:05Speaker 1: forward to it. If that's what they tell me anyways,
- 13:09Speaker 1: that they're excited. So um, I'm excited. And if you
- 13:12Speaker 1: want to read more about the project, I was actually
- 13:15Speaker 1: interviewed by medium Guruba. You might remember Miriam as being
- 13:21Speaker 1: the one who really sounded the alarm on American Dirt
- 13:26Speaker 1: and wrote about it, gave an honest but scathing review
- 13:32Speaker 1: that set off a firestorm around American dirt. Engineering come
- 13:37Speaker 1: ins in that whole situation. So Miriam reached out and
- 13:40Speaker 1: interviewed me about marijuana for her magazine Tasteful Rude, So
- 13:45Speaker 1: you can read all about it there. Thank you. Babies
- 13:50Speaker 1: first press. Yes, we love when a baby project gets
- 13:56Speaker 1: its first piece of press. It's very exciting. Yeah, I mean.
- 14:01Speaker 1: So with that said, um to really reap the benefits
- 14:07Speaker 1: of all of these new projects under Local Productions, you
- 14:11Speaker 1: do want to become a patron, So you can head
- 14:14Speaker 1: over to Patreon dot com, slash look Underscore Radio and

- 15:23Speaker 1: is just coming together and the projects are forming, and
- 15:26Speaker 1: we have like a slate and it's like a fully

- 19:46Speaker 1: cultural movement which focuses on centering women um, immigrant queer
- 19:53Speaker 1: ali al b t q uh plus folks um not
- 19:58Speaker 1: only on the dance floor but behind every and any
- 20:03Speaker 1: aspect of our production process. Amazing. Thank you so much
- 20:08Speaker 1: for that little background on collective. And you are speaking
- 20:13Speaker 1: of being like a national movement, a nationwide movement. You
- 20:18Speaker 1: were just in New York. You had a pride of
- 20:21Speaker 1: event with another queer collective called Adibato. Correct, So tell
- 20:26Speaker 1: me a little bit about that collaboration. And just like
- 20:30Speaker 1: traveling again, working again, husting again, now that everything has
- 20:34Speaker 1: opened up, you know, still in a pandemic, but things
- 20:37Speaker 1: we are moving forward, right, So tell me a little
- 20:40Speaker 1: bit about that. Yeah, so um, shout out to our
- 20:45Speaker 1: East Coast, from shout out to our n wife, from
- 20:48Speaker 1: Queen's Corona of Brooklyn, all of the boroughs out in
- 20:53Speaker 1: New York. Super you know so much love. I'm a
- 20:56Speaker 1: super fan of New York. And if it wasn't for
- 20:59Speaker 1: y'all's brutal winters, I think I would definitely want to
- 21:02Speaker 1: live out there for a time. But yeah, she's she's
- 21:06Speaker 1: like cool saying that she's she's from the you know,
- 21:09Speaker 1: tropical coast of Also, you know, we can't do cold
- 21:12Speaker 1: like that. UM. But it was beautiful and it was
- 21:15Speaker 1: actually really amazing to be able to build with another
- 21:18Speaker 1: UM you know, queer dance party UM led by undocumented folks,
- 21:24Speaker 1: which you know has always been so important for us
- 21:27Speaker 1: as undocumented artists DJs. UM. It's super important to continue
- 21:32Speaker 1: to build community UM, not only on you know, on
- 21:37Speaker 1: the streets and the protests and political spaces, but also
- 21:41Speaker 1: in the nightlife. UM. And it has been such a
- 21:46Speaker 1: beautiful welcoming UM to be able to build with folks
- 21:50Speaker 1: in the East Coast UM and and create that camaraderie
- 21:54Speaker 1: if you will, of you know, close to coast love. UM.
- 22:00Speaker 1: There's just so much richness, culture, ambientive virus in York
- 22:06Speaker 1: that you know, it has absolutely captured my heart and
- 22:11Speaker 1: my entire soul, you know, UM, with their food, with
- 22:14Speaker 1: their music, with their just way of life. So UM,
- 22:18Speaker 1: once again shout out to the Arabato Collective and everybody
- 22:21Speaker 1: else who has been part of the collective and of
- 22:25Speaker 1: the movement as a whole. I think that I love
- 22:27Speaker 1: so much about Kumbaton is the fact that she would
- 22:30Speaker 1: bring DJs from out of state to play parties here
- 22:34Speaker 1: in l A, many of them being after Latin X
- 22:38Speaker 1: DJs from New York. Like I want to say, DJ
- 22:41Speaker 1: bon Bona right is one of the DJs that is
- 22:44Speaker 1: like a friend of Gumbaton and has come and played
- 22:47Speaker 1: in in a multiple of your parties. Um, And that's
- 22:51Speaker 1: how I was introduced to her in her music. And
- 22:55Speaker 1: I missed that a lot. I miss going to parties
- 22:58Speaker 1: of course seeing DJ Carmello play, seeing DJ Sizzle play,
- 23:03Speaker 1: maybe seeing DJ Zuri play, but then all the out
- 23:06Speaker 1: of state and like traveling talent, and then you also
- 23:09Speaker 1: would like at your parties, like we went to the
- 23:12Speaker 1: Globe to the Gumaton anniversary and you just brought out
- 23:16Speaker 1: tons and tons and done some different musicians and acts
- 23:20Speaker 1: and bund us and it was amazing. Um, what is
- 23:23Speaker 1: kumiat Throne coming back? And what was it like not
- 23:27Speaker 1: doing in person the way it was like? What was
- 23:32Speaker 1: that like for you? Yeah? It was really hard, you
- 23:36Speaker 1: know because it was a space that we had fostered
- 23:40Speaker 1: for three years prior to the pandemic. We um had
- 23:44Speaker 1: our three year anniversary during a pandemic. So, um, it
- 23:49Speaker 1: was a little bit um of of a challenge. It
- 23:53Speaker 1: was pretty sad, you know, not to be able to buy,
- 23:55Speaker 1: not to be able to see people, not to be
- 23:57Speaker 1: able to like hug people. As a DJ, I feed
- 24:01Speaker 1: off of the energy that the crowd provides, um, and
- 24:05Speaker 1: kind of messing with that, I guess, um in terms
- 24:09Speaker 1: of for example, you know, it's just not the same
- 24:13Speaker 1: in a computer screen on a telephone. You know, it's
- 24:16Speaker 1: just not the same. But people manage to continue to
- 24:22Speaker 1: show up and show out. And I was so surprised
- 24:26Speaker 1: by that. Pleasantly surprised, I might add, because I didn't
- 24:30Speaker 1: know whether the music or our vibes were going to
- 24:33Speaker 1: be able to translate well virtually. Um. But I am
- 24:36Speaker 1: so incredibly glad grateful that it did, because it not
- 24:41Speaker 1: only helped me mentally, emotionally, spiritually, but I think it
- 24:45Speaker 1: helped out a lot of people. Um that we're going
- 24:48Speaker 1: through things in the pandemic, right, and I think that's
- 24:50Speaker 1: what our community is all about. Um, we have each
- 24:54Speaker 1: other's backs when nobody will have our backs, right, because
- 24:57Speaker 1: we know that nobody's going to have our back, Like
- 24:59Speaker 1: communities that to have our back, and it was really
- 25:01Speaker 1: beautiful to foster this new virtual space and continue to
- 25:05Speaker 1: connect and continue to grow even in a pandemic. So UM,
- 25:10Speaker 1: while it was hard, I think it definitely UM affirmed
- 25:17Speaker 1: UM our community are family ties, and you know, we're
- 25:22Speaker 1: super excited to be able to come back in the
- 25:24Speaker 1: summer of UM we might do UM. So this is
- 25:30Speaker 1: an exclusive right here. UM. We are doing a event
- 25:36Speaker 1: in which we are going to be premiering a video
- 25:39Speaker 1: that we did with Casey E t Um and you
- 25:43Speaker 1: can check that out via on et s platform as
- 25:48Speaker 1: well as on our cumae platform. But we're gonna be
- 25:51Speaker 1: premiering that UM July not excuse me, June UM at
- 25:58Speaker 1: a very special location that we are going to talk
- 26:00Speaker 1: about in you know the coming the coming minute. So
- 26:05Speaker 1: July July eighth, this when it's coming out. Yes, how exciting. Congratulations.
- 26:12Speaker 1: So for those who maybe are not aware, you can
- 26:15Speaker 1: now become aware. Sizzle and the collective have done some
- 26:19Speaker 1: really amazing like projects and collaborations, and you've also been
- 26:22Speaker 1: featured like in like different like documentaries and press and
- 26:27Speaker 1: there's people have written about you like they're a big deal.
- 26:31Speaker 1: So I highly recommend to go do your research, do
- 26:35Speaker 1: your reading, do your viewing, um, because not only are
- 26:37Speaker 1: you guys, you're so much more than than like a party.
- 26:44Speaker 1: You know, it's like connected to so much more than
- 26:47Speaker 1: just just a party, right, And I think that all
- 26:51Speaker 1: of that comes out really beautifully UM in these sorts
- 26:54Speaker 1: of interviews. So I'm excited. I will be tuning in
- 26:57Speaker 1: as a fan girl to the case Et project, So
- 27:00Speaker 1: thank you for dropping that exclusive. Here, I want to
- 27:04Speaker 1: talk about your mom, Um DJ Coco Loco and all
- 27:07Speaker 1: the IG lives that you two did together, because you
- 27:10Speaker 1: were consistent with the I G lives over the course
- 27:14Speaker 1: of the pandemic, super cute, with themes and backdrops and
- 27:19Speaker 1: choreography and crops and like the whole thing. I would
- 27:25Speaker 1: send them to the aside, like do you see this?
- 27:27Speaker 1: This is so fucking cute. Can you tell us a
- 27:29Speaker 1: little bit about what that was like doing the lives
- 27:32Speaker 1: with your mom? Yeah, DJ Coco, hype woman and most
- 27:39Speaker 1: importantly Mom to myself, Loco Loco is just the powerhouse
- 27:45Speaker 1: of you know, badass three um as she calls herself.
- 27:50Speaker 1: She's like, you are so influenced. I'm like gol who
- 27:52Speaker 1: told you look at you know, she's not wrong. She's
- 27:57Speaker 1: not wrong. She and I and though um we do
- 28:01Speaker 1: call her copa loco, a k lego ma um because
- 28:09Speaker 1: you know, whenever I would play right like when we
- 28:13Speaker 1: started doing the virtual um Life DJ sets, I mean,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you know, she lives with me, so anytime that I
- 28:21Speaker 1: would play, and my the type of music that I
- 28:24Speaker 1: play is mostly Latin x UM rooted obviously in Afro
- 28:28Speaker 1: Latin X music, whether it was Fumbia, whether it would
- 28:33Speaker 1: on side, literally all in any music is rooted in
- 28:38Speaker 1: um Afro Afro Latinia or just black folks period. You know.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Um she would come by and she would um, you know,
- 28:47Speaker 1: just dance and have a blast. And you know she
- 28:52Speaker 1: wasn't on camera yet, but she would be dancing around
- 28:54Speaker 1: the living room or you know, dancing while she cooked.
- 28:56Speaker 1: And one of those moments I was like, place do
- 28:59Speaker 1: you want to come? And that's why are you hiding?
- 29:01Speaker 1: Come over here? And that was it. A star was
- 29:04Speaker 1: born right after that. You know, she loved the camera
- 29:07Speaker 1: and the camera loved her. I love that. I love
- 29:12Speaker 1: that because we know a thing or two about like
- 29:14Speaker 1: supportive moms. Our mom's living with us, us living with
- 29:18Speaker 1: our moms and then them being very much around like
- 29:21Speaker 1: the creative process, um, like even right now when we
- 29:25Speaker 1: were recording, like my mom is walking by the dogs
- 29:28Speaker 1: are like you know, and like being able to be
- 29:30Speaker 1: creative in your home with family can get difficult, but
- 29:33Speaker 1: it also brings like these really beautiful moments where they
- 29:36Speaker 1: get to be involved in the process. So I love
- 29:39Speaker 1: that you shared that because she has definitely been present
- 29:43Speaker 1: and very visible at like lots of Yeah. Absolutely, I
- 29:49Speaker 1: feel that, you know, this quarantine just kind of solidified
- 29:52Speaker 1: her title as you know, go Go Hype woman. What
- 29:56Speaker 1: we call her is the mother of ceremonies, you know, yes,
- 30:01Speaker 1: always been their supporting Yeah, I love that, And you know,
- 30:07Speaker 1: one of the going back to like when we met
- 30:12Speaker 1: and then just collaborating over the years, like we have
- 30:16Speaker 1: definitely talked about like being women, curating nightlife spaces, um,
- 30:24Speaker 1: working with venues, working with the men that manage these venues,
- 30:29Speaker 1: and we have like long had a long time dream,
- 30:34Speaker 1: right or goal of one day owning our own venue
- 30:37Speaker 1: or being able to collaboratively have a space that we
- 30:41Speaker 1: can all use and be comfy using. And I have
- 30:44Speaker 1: to deal with us back and forth and like lies
- 30:47Speaker 1: also or being like cheated of money, like all those
- 30:50Speaker 1: different things that could happen when you are in nightlife.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And so I heard on the street and but on
- 30:58Speaker 1: the street, I mean Cecil told us that, um, you
- 31:02Speaker 1: may or may not be working towards the venue. And
- 31:05Speaker 1: maybe by the time this episode is out, you know,
- 31:09Speaker 1: more people will know. So let's let's go back and
- 31:11Speaker 1: let's talk about that. Yes, UM, word on the street
- 31:15Speaker 1: is correct. Um. Coming this summer July, I'm gonna be
- 31:22Speaker 1: opening a lifelong dream of mine and my mom's, which
- 31:27Speaker 1: is to have a little restaurant UM with a little
- 31:31Speaker 1: more included UM, where we are going to be able
- 31:34Speaker 1: to sell my mom's delicious food, you know, host events, UM,
- 31:38Speaker 1: and literally have access to the spaces that many times
- 31:44Speaker 1: we were denied of deprived of, right Um. And it's
- 31:48Speaker 1: been such a wild ride, but we are here and
- 31:53Speaker 1: you know, like it's surreal even to like speak it now,
- 31:56Speaker 1: because it was many times where I just felt like
- 31:59Speaker 1: there was are gonna happen, you know. UM. So just
- 32:03Speaker 1: to give you a little bit of a background, UM,
- 32:06Speaker 1: we have been looking for a space for well Over,
- 32:10Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe like four or five years. UM.
- 32:14Speaker 1: We are undocumented immigrants the Mexico. UM never been shy
- 32:21Speaker 1: about our status on on in the contrary, like, um,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you know, I've always been vocal about it because you know,
- 32:30Speaker 1: being undocumented doesn't really define who you are other than
- 32:35Speaker 1: a badass period um. But you know, it's never been
- 32:40Speaker 1: something that I have, um, really hid from people, you know,
- 32:46Speaker 1: um and as many of us know, right like, we
- 32:52Speaker 1: come from immigrant parents as well, who left behind a
- 32:56Speaker 1: lot of their own personal dreams to give us a
- 32:58Speaker 1: better life. And that's exactly what my mom co Loco
- 33:02Speaker 1: did for me, you know. Um. We arrived here when
- 33:06Speaker 1: I was four years old. UM. And she has been
- 33:09Speaker 1: working as a housekeeper as a street vendor um for
- 33:14Speaker 1: well over twenty years until the pandemic happened. UM. And
- 33:18Speaker 1: that's when she was, you know, um forced to stop working. Um.
- 33:22Speaker 1: She no longer had her job as a housekeeper as
- 33:24Speaker 1: a swap meet ender. UM, so she had to stop,
- 33:29Speaker 1: you know, doing all of that for her safety, which
- 33:32Speaker 1: was fine. I was thankfully able to like continue to
- 33:35Speaker 1: do my work. Shout out you know, social media, shout
- 33:38Speaker 1: out the different platforms that allowed me to still you know,
- 33:42Speaker 1: be able to provide for my family. And myself. Um,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and you know again, this was a dream of my
- 33:50Speaker 1: mom's to be able to own her own restaurant, as
- 33:53Speaker 1: she was a restaurant here back in Mexico. But for
- 33:57Speaker 1: different reasons, you know, that didn't work out. Um, but
- 34:03Speaker 1: her dream has always been, you know, to own a
- 34:05Speaker 1: little restaurant. So I busted my butt. If y'all knew
- 34:09Speaker 1: me before the pandemic, I was gigging to three gigs
- 34:13Speaker 1: and one day and one night, I would, you know,
- 34:17Speaker 1: wake up in l A, take a flight to um
- 34:20Speaker 1: San Francisco, and then go to Seattle the next day,
- 34:24Speaker 1: come back to l A the following day to be
- 34:26Speaker 1: able to do another gig. It wasn't necessarily because it's like,
- 34:30Speaker 1: oh my god, Sizzle just like loves to hustle, Sizzle
- 34:33Speaker 1: just loves to which I mean, yes, it's true, right,
- 34:37Speaker 1: I love the music. I loved um my career as
- 34:40Speaker 1: a DJ. But it was because I was hustling to
- 34:42Speaker 1: save up for this dream and a little by little,
- 34:45Speaker 1: you know, all those gigs that I took, even the
- 34:48Speaker 1: little ones, I was like, I'm gonna put away money.
- 34:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna put away money and play Boom. Dina's too
- 34:53Speaker 1: with the signors to be able to actually have some
- 34:56Speaker 1: sort of you know, accountability and just be like, UM,
- 35:00Speaker 1: you know, I'm not touching that money, and it's a
- 35:02Speaker 1: pool of money, you know, so shout out to the
- 35:04Speaker 1: things in the hoods that are handling the fundinas and
- 35:07Speaker 1: that helped me saved UM and I was just I
- 35:10Speaker 1: was able to save up enough money to UM, you know,
- 35:13Speaker 1: put forward to get this UM little dream for my
- 35:17Speaker 1: mom and I and UM. We literally got the keys
- 35:21Speaker 1: UM March the first week of March. The following week,
- 35:29Speaker 1: the pandemic hit and we were like, okay, UM, what
- 35:32Speaker 1: does this mean. A few days after everything was shut
- 35:35Speaker 1: down and you know, as we all know, things were delayed.
- 35:39Speaker 1: You know, UM city or government agencies were closed, so
- 35:44Speaker 1: there was no way we can continue to move this UM,
- 35:48Speaker 1: this little dream of ours forward. It was stalled for
- 35:51Speaker 1: a very long time until very recently. You know. It
- 35:54Speaker 1: took us a here and some change to finally move
- 35:58Speaker 1: the city, to plead with the city and get um,
- 36:00Speaker 1: you know, the permits that we needed to get the
- 36:02Speaker 1: inspections done. It's been a whole last roller coaster, but
- 36:06Speaker 1: we are here and we are ready to open UM.
- 36:11Speaker 1: The doors. So, yes, long story to tell you. Yes,
- 36:16Speaker 1: we are here. Congratulations Sizzle, Like nobody deserves this more
- 36:22Speaker 1: than you, you know, Like it's true, the hustle from
- 36:26Speaker 1: Sizzle is like so real pre pandemic and still you know,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I don't think that the hustle has really stopped for you.
- 36:32Speaker 1: It never really stopped. Um. So I'm just so proud
- 36:36Speaker 1: of you, and I'm excited because I know that it's
- 36:39Speaker 1: going to be bombed all the way around, just like
- 36:41Speaker 1: everything else that you do. So how can people support?
- 36:45Speaker 1: Where is the restaurant? How can they how can they
- 36:48Speaker 1: go partake and support and check it out? Yeah? So
- 36:52Speaker 1: the restaurant is located in Huntington Park, which is a
- 36:56Speaker 1: hoppy to skip away from Boil Heights, which is thenighborhood
- 37:00Speaker 1: that I was raised in. Um. It is in South
- 37:04Speaker 1: um E s ly Um. And it is located on
- 37:08Speaker 1: seven one to seven Pacific Boulevard, Huntington Park, California, nine
- 37:14Speaker 1: zero two. Look at that I memorized the address already.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Uh huh. So, Sizzle, what is the name of your
- 37:22Speaker 1: restaurant and how can people go support? Yes? So the
- 37:26Speaker 1: name of the restaurant is called sasson Um and Our
- 37:31Speaker 1: tagline is where the food, the drinks, and the vibe
- 37:36Speaker 1: are always on points No sasson is you know el
- 37:42Speaker 1: punto either the laponda the lambie. So it's a play
- 37:48Speaker 1: on all those things that we hope to continue to
- 37:52Speaker 1: foster and create. Right, everything will just me on point there.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I love that. That's so beautiful And on Pacific, my
- 38:00Speaker 1: I add, that is iconic if you're from the area,
- 38:04Speaker 1: you know Pacific. Even if you're not, you may have
- 38:06Speaker 1: heard of Pacific in HP and Huntington Park and iconic
- 38:12Speaker 1: street of like vendors, immigrant folks hustle there. You go
- 38:16Speaker 1: buy anything and everything there. So that's so amazing that
- 38:20Speaker 1: that's where the restaurant's going to be and we cannot
- 38:22Speaker 1: wait to support you know now, you know, like on
- 38:26Speaker 1: any given day you'll probably find us there. I mean
- 38:28Speaker 1: we're gonna go. We're gonna be there all the time.
- 38:31Speaker 1: We were just telling this Aliil, you know, we're going
- 38:33Speaker 1: to be there all the time. I'm ready. I got
- 38:36Speaker 1: the proseco on Locke for y'all. Love you, you know,
- 38:43Speaker 1: you know, you know, Okay, wait, so can I be
- 38:46Speaker 1: messy and bring like all my dates there? Like will
- 38:53Speaker 1: be like mala blink twice. If you're in trouble, girl,
- 38:56Speaker 1: like one of us will come to get you. You know.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Have you sew that? Have you seen that meme where
- 39:02Speaker 1: it's like it's something like this woman like takes her
- 39:05Speaker 1: her dates to like the same place and she like
- 39:08Speaker 1: tells him like, oh, I never bring anyone here, like
- 39:11Speaker 1: that's gonna be you like, oh that is never brought in.
- 39:15Speaker 1: But actually wink And we all know we have those
- 39:21Speaker 1: spots because Lord knows it my dating times, you know,
- 39:25Speaker 1: I would go to, you know, a little spot out
- 39:28Speaker 1: here in downtown l A. And the waiters already knew,
- 39:30Speaker 1: like they would give me the look, so we're gonna
- 39:33Speaker 1: be tight like that. Yeah, that's how it. Okay, maybe
- 39:36Speaker 1: I'm not as messy, but I would not do that.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I would go to different places all the time. I
- 39:40Speaker 1: do not need to be caught up by anybody, Okay.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Oh no. There was definitely a time where I would
- 39:47Speaker 1: take all my dates downtown, somewhere downtown, and then we
- 39:50Speaker 1: would end up at Lasita. And it was at Lasita
- 39:52Speaker 1: where the bouncers were like raising eyebrows at me because
- 39:56Speaker 1: there was a little you know, there was a windmill
- 39:59Speaker 1: and there was a wind meal of dates there, you
- 40:03Speaker 1: know what, before Last bed Last was canceled. That was
- 40:06Speaker 1: my messy spot. I we all have one where I
- 40:11Speaker 1: would end up and I would take the dates. You're right,
- 40:13Speaker 1: You're right, Okay, I think I saw you at Lass
- 40:17Speaker 1: like once or twice. I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Probably, I
- 40:25Speaker 1: love it. Oh my god, I'm so excited. I've been
- 40:27Speaker 1: not probably, I have been caught up there though. So
- 40:32Speaker 1: is this a story time? No, no story time, I'm not.
- 40:35Speaker 1: I'm not telling you myself. I think there was a
- 40:37Speaker 1: little bit of a delay. But I have gone to
- 40:41Speaker 1: the last bed last, pre pre cancelation um, pre pandemic
- 40:45Speaker 1: where pre partner um, where I would run into people
- 40:50Speaker 1: with like when I was with someone and then I
- 40:52Speaker 1: run into somebody else and I was with somebody else,
- 40:54Speaker 1: and then it was like you know how that goes,
- 40:57Speaker 1: you know what happens. And also, here's the thing is
- 41:00Speaker 1: is then you take your dates too. If you take
- 41:02Speaker 1: your dates to too many different places. Now they know
- 41:05Speaker 1: about all these places, and if you kind of isolate
- 41:08Speaker 1: it to one spot, you know what I mean, It's
- 41:11Speaker 1: like you can decide to just not go back to
- 41:13Speaker 1: that spot. Well, maybe I shouldn't take them to your restaurant, Sizzle. No,
- 41:16Speaker 1: it's a safe space I need. I need the emotional
- 41:20Speaker 1: support your girl. Thank you, hi ji ji any who Sizzle.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I want to know to like where can people go
- 41:32Speaker 1: to a listen to your music? To follow you um,
- 41:36Speaker 1: to follow gumiaton and can we look forward to any
- 41:39Speaker 1: Gumaton parties in the near future? Yes, of course. Um.
- 41:45Speaker 1: You can find me on social media UM Instagram at
- 41:49Speaker 1: Sizzle zeros Real seven, SoundCloud at um DJ Sizzle Undersports,
- 41:54Speaker 1: zeros Real seven, on Twitch. I promised to come back
- 41:58Speaker 1: to the live streaming on Twitch and on i G
- 42:01Speaker 1: Live and on Twitch I am at DJ sizzles zero
- 42:04Speaker 1: zero seven. We are planning our comeback, Askumaton, um, but
- 42:10Speaker 1: we are proceeding with caution just because it's still freshly
- 42:14Speaker 1: off of pandemic right um and it is. You know,
- 42:19Speaker 1: our events on average are anywhere from like five plus
- 42:24Speaker 1: folks now, so we want to make sure we're proceeding
- 42:27Speaker 1: with caution. And we're trying to look either for the
- 42:30Speaker 1: perfect outdoor venue or um, you know, just give it
- 42:34Speaker 1: some time until we see how indoor stuff is going
- 42:37Speaker 1: to play out. So we're being careful. But you can
- 42:40Speaker 1: follow at k Instagram, at Kuma Underscore, l a um,
