- 0:29Speaker 1: Show podcast because not only do we have my friends
- 0:32Speaker 1: you know I'm doing today, but he is the CEO
- 0:35Speaker 1: of Support Black Colleges that I know y'all are familiar
- 0:39Speaker 1: with it, and if you not, you will be. Today
- 0:41Speaker 1: Corey introduced yourself, what's going on. I'm super excited to
- 0:44Speaker 1: be here with my people's. My name is Corey Oranger
- 0:47Speaker 1: and our service one of the CEOs of a company
- 0:50Speaker 1: called Support Black Colleges. Okay, you ain't gotta be all
- 0:52Speaker 1: professional and stuff. Okay, we're like to have fun, but
- 0:55Speaker 1: you gotta be all of that. Okay, but let's just
- 0:58Speaker 1: go ahead and get into it because I am familiar
- 1:01Speaker 1: with you and the brand. Obviously I fell in love
- 1:04Speaker 1: with the brand of the moment that I met you.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Funny story, just to kind of break the ice a
- 1:08Speaker 1: little bit, Corey and I actually met through a scammer. Girl.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell y'all. So there was a in Atlanta.
- 1:19Speaker 1: There was a throw of that later who was going
- 1:21Speaker 1: around scamming people talking about she was selling Delta Companion
- 1:25Speaker 1: passes and her and I were actually friends. So she
- 1:30Speaker 1: she played me okay, just like she played everybody else.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But she was supposed supposed to be booking a reservation
- 1:36Speaker 1: for Corey's birthday at the brunch that I was doing
- 1:39Speaker 1: at the time on Saturdays. And he dems me and
- 1:42Speaker 1: he was like, hey, our mutual friend almost said her name.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Our mutual friend was supposed to make your birthday reservation
- 1:49Speaker 1: at your brunch. I just wanted to check in on it.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And at that time, the girl was already cut off
- 1:54Speaker 1: and she hadn't told me anything about him. I had
- 1:56Speaker 1: no idea who he was. I didn't know I was
- 1:58Speaker 1: supposed to have a table for him, none of that.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So made him work out and he came in. I
- 2:04Speaker 1: made sure that he had a good time. I start
- 2:07Speaker 1: pumped his ass. I wanted her to see that me
- 2:09Speaker 1: and this guy that she also played, we're being cool.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And since then we've actually been like really good friends.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I called my little brother, and I'm just super inspired
- 2:18Speaker 1: to see, like what you have done. Your gass has
- 2:21Speaker 1: been everywhere, Yes, but most recently, you guys have been
- 2:25Speaker 1: a part of the ny All Start one in Atlanta.
- 2:29Speaker 1: How the hell did you get to that? And then
- 2:32Speaker 1: we'll go we'll go back in history a little bit.
- 2:34Speaker 1: But how did you get to n being all Start? Yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 1: for sure, I think it's I mean, it's a it's
- 2:38Speaker 1: a few things, but it starts with Chris Paul. It
- 2:41Speaker 1: starts with Chris Paul. Chris Paul was a relationship that
- 2:43Speaker 1: we have been able to build over the past years.
- 2:46Speaker 1: All the basketball player, Yeah, the basketball player. Uh is
- 2:50Speaker 1: there another Chris Paul. It's a couple of Chris Paul's,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but I don't get into that. Yeah, Chris Paul, the
- 2:57Speaker 1: basketball player. We grew a relationship with him, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: a little while ago. Um, just networking and you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: being at the right place at the right time. Um.
- 3:04Speaker 1: He really liked the merchandise. And a lot of people
- 3:06Speaker 1: don't know that his family, all of his family went
- 3:09Speaker 1: to HBC US. So even though he went away for US,
- 3:12Speaker 1: it's still really close to him because all his family went.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So we began to build this relationship. It was super organic.
- 3:18Speaker 1: We were really cool with his stylus at first, and
- 3:20Speaker 1: we just used to like give him gear merchandise, and
- 3:22Speaker 1: he started this whole HBCU repping um the tour, but
- 3:27Speaker 1: he was just highlighting different HBCUs and you know, putting
- 3:30Speaker 1: on at the basketball game, getting other players involved, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: so that's kind of how but that is because we
- 3:37Speaker 1: provided value, because we were people who he saw valuable.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Then he was like, Hey, the NBA is gonna be
- 3:42Speaker 1: uh in Atlanta for All Star this year, and y'all
- 3:45Speaker 1: have to be a part of it because they want
- 3:46Speaker 1: to highlight HBCUs. And so he connected me with a
- 3:50Speaker 1: lady named Kelly who works for the NBA, and it
- 3:53Speaker 1: was actually supposed to be something for the Players Association,
- 3:55Speaker 1: which is different from the NBA. It's just where the
- 3:58Speaker 1: players are. It's like their union, sentially their union. And
- 4:01Speaker 1: so we completed that task I'm talking about like in
- 4:03Speaker 1: the day. They said they wanted this. We got in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the day, and so he was like, man, I need
- 4:07Speaker 1: to do something for All Star too. So it ended up,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you know, we end up having this conversation and long
- 4:12Speaker 1: story short, we ended up making these gift boxes for
- 4:15Speaker 1: all the players, which included a few things. So one
- 4:18Speaker 1: of the things was a custom candle. So what I
- 4:20Speaker 1: wanted to do was I wanted to try to put
- 4:22Speaker 1: on as many black businesses as possible. So I just
- 4:25Speaker 1: were just my friends that have black businesses that I
- 4:28Speaker 1: felt like correlated what we were trying to do, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: I made sure that they were involved. So we have
- 4:33Speaker 1: these candles that we did, and I thought I have
- 4:35Speaker 1: another one, but I don't. It was it was a
- 4:38Speaker 1: candle with a person's name and face on it and
- 4:41Speaker 1: a basketball on top, so it was like a custom
- 4:43Speaker 1: candle for every single player. We did these custom hoodies,
- 4:46Speaker 1: which I had right here. Here's here's my version of
- 4:48Speaker 1: the hoodie. But we did these custom hoodies. Were on
- 4:51Speaker 1: the back, it had their name on it, so it
- 4:53Speaker 1: said James and his number, but then on the side
- 4:56Speaker 1: and had these sizes that what size is that? So
- 5:00Speaker 1: this is you can't have, you know. So we did
- 5:08Speaker 1: these customer Atlanta peach patches, and then we did like
- 5:10Speaker 1: three point contests, dunk contests, and every player has their
- 5:14Speaker 1: own individual you know, like patch on it. And so
- 5:18Speaker 1: I don't know if you all saw, but Yannese actually
- 5:20Speaker 1: wore his to the game, which was awesome. That's why
- 5:22Speaker 1: he wanted m v P. I don't know if y'all know,
- 5:24Speaker 1: but he want MVP. But it was because he had
- 5:26Speaker 1: our hoodie over before the game, and so it was
- 5:28Speaker 1: just a really dope yeah, and we just made it
- 5:31Speaker 1: happen a short time. But it's like when opportunity comes,
- 5:34Speaker 1: we always make sure we made the most of it.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So I always live in what we call right now,
- 5:38Speaker 1: my boy, and Neil always says it right now, no
- 5:41Speaker 1: opportunity wasted. I don't let any opportunity go by me
- 5:44Speaker 1: without giving them my best chance to to make it
- 5:47Speaker 1: succeed because I think that you may never get these
- 5:49Speaker 1: opportunities again, so it's important to make it up. I
- 5:52Speaker 1: know the time, manc t usually goes second. I gotta
- 5:56Speaker 1: cut in real quick. My favorite, and I know you
- 5:59Speaker 1: guys said at the NBA All Star that was cool.
- 6:02Speaker 1: My favorite was Dion Samer's Prime Time All the Time,
- 6:08Speaker 1: your sir and I grew up as Sanders, So like
- 6:11Speaker 1: just when I saw him wearing it, and I don't know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: we saw you all, you guys on the TV, shoe
- 6:17Speaker 1: was like about to cry in the studio. We saw
- 6:21Speaker 1: you guys on TV. That was dope. But when I've
- 6:23Speaker 1: seen Prime time Dion Sanders wearing his sweater all the time.
- 6:28Speaker 1: That just let me know that you guys are on
- 6:30Speaker 1: another level. But go ahead, O c T. I know
- 6:32Speaker 1: you had. I know you got something over there. Everybody
- 6:34Speaker 1: were talking about support black college. It's a whole movement. Um,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I just want to go back to when you and
- 6:40Speaker 1: your partner met and Um, what HBCU did you actually
- 6:44Speaker 1: attend and what was your experience? Like? Yeah, so I
- 6:47Speaker 1: went to Howard University. Um, the number one HBCU in
- 6:51Speaker 1: the nation, No matter what anybody else says, Howard University
- 6:54Speaker 1: has the best homecoming, the best academics, everything. So that's
- 6:57Speaker 1: where I went, and that's where I actually met my
- 6:59Speaker 1: business under justin Um, I was throwing parties at at
- 7:04Speaker 1: how It was a friend who came to one of
- 7:08Speaker 1: our parties. They were parties, parties like oh no, no,
- 7:14Speaker 1: So just to give you and I told Sue this
- 7:16Speaker 1: when I first met her, because you know, I wanted
- 7:17Speaker 1: to get into the party team in Atlanta. Well I
- 7:18Speaker 1: thought I wanted to. I wasn't really sure, but we
- 7:22Speaker 1: were throwing party, we were packing out. I mean, I'm
- 7:24Speaker 1: sure if you've ever been to c b C. I
- 7:25Speaker 1: know about park y'all know about Club Love. I mean
- 7:28Speaker 1: we were putting five thousand people in it a night,
- 7:30Speaker 1: and so you know, it was one of those things
- 7:32Speaker 1: where we kind of controlled the college scene. So Georgetown, Howard,
- 7:36Speaker 1: American Trinity we did that. And so, uh, that's how
- 7:40Speaker 1: I kind of knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur
- 7:42Speaker 1: because I like the way it felt when I like
- 7:44Speaker 1: to go home with money in my hand, like a
- 7:46Speaker 1: stack of money, and it just felt good to me.
- 7:49Speaker 1: So I always knew I was kind of entrepreneur. I
- 7:51Speaker 1: had a guy named Justin what was my business partner.
- 7:54Speaker 1: One day, I was still on his house party. It
- 7:57Speaker 1: was pretty crazy. It was like one of those nights
- 7:58Speaker 1: nothing was going on to be like, let's do a
- 8:00Speaker 1: house party. The random house party. So we did the
- 8:02Speaker 1: party and I see this kid, He's just sitting on
- 8:04Speaker 1: the sidewalk, just like sitting there, like and if he
- 8:07Speaker 1: ever met Justin you it makes sense now. But he
- 8:10Speaker 1: was like. I was like, and let me go check
- 8:12Speaker 1: on this kid. He could have been drunk whatever. I
- 8:13Speaker 1: didn't really know, but it was my responsibility because it
- 8:16Speaker 1: was my party to make sure everything was okay. So
- 8:18Speaker 1: I went and talk to him. He was I'm like, hey,
- 8:20Speaker 1: you straight what you're doing And he was like, I'm
- 8:21Speaker 1: just checking out the scenes like I used to parties
- 8:23Speaker 1: back in Houston. So I just wanted to see, you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: who runs and things for plugs all the money and
- 8:28Speaker 1: something like a freshman like asking these questions. So it
- 8:32Speaker 1: automatically intrigued me. So we ended up topping up for
- 8:34Speaker 1: a little I might come and have a good time
- 8:36Speaker 1: and let's take this conversation on after the party are
- 8:38Speaker 1: like another time, long story short. He ended up throwing
- 8:41Speaker 1: parties with us and grew his own legs on his
- 8:43Speaker 1: own and began to be one of the most popular
- 8:45Speaker 1: people on campus. And that's kind of how he became partners.
- 8:48Speaker 1: We we worked really well together. He's more quiet, analytical,
- 8:52Speaker 1: data driven. I'm more creative, outspoken things like this, and
- 8:56Speaker 1: so you know, that's kind of how I met him
- 8:58Speaker 1: and how we're beginning work together. So how did you
- 9:00Speaker 1: guys go from parties to close? Party name? Tell everybody
- 9:05Speaker 1: what his party name was? Whole nation, whole nation, And
- 9:18Speaker 1: just to give y'all like a little like what that
- 9:19Speaker 1: means is in Houston when you crack on somebody or
- 9:22Speaker 1: like joking on somebody, it's like you holing them like
- 9:24Speaker 1: it means you. It's like you don't. And so he
- 9:27Speaker 1: would say, and then the Nation is like a group
- 9:29Speaker 1: that they had called the Nation. So he was like
- 9:32Speaker 1: he basically was really good at roasting people. So I
- 9:34Speaker 1: whole nation kind of just came out of that. But
- 9:36Speaker 1: it took a different meaning when college came along, because
- 9:40Speaker 1: you know, because it did. Now, when I got you, Cory,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you were still bagging stuff up at the credit at
- 9:49Speaker 1: the apartment. You know what I'm saying, shop parlet, you
- 9:53Speaker 1: were still at the department. But now y'all got a
- 9:56Speaker 1: whole ass huge warehouse that you're actually doing quite a
- 10:01Speaker 1: few things with. And I'm not I'm not gonna say
- 10:03Speaker 1: what they are unless you want to share them, you can.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But how would you say Atlanta really kind of helped
- 10:08Speaker 1: you guys thrived because it's like once you came here, baby, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 1: Atlanta like any any young black entrepreneur, any entrepreneur in general,
- 10:18Speaker 1: that's that's black, you need to be in Atlanta because
- 10:21Speaker 1: Atlanta just provide so much opportunity. Um. I think the
- 10:23Speaker 1: first I actually met Sue, probably the first few weeks
- 10:27Speaker 1: I was out here, which was super integral to like
- 10:31Speaker 1: my development in Atlanta. And I always tell you this
- 10:34Speaker 1: because you know, two things happened to me when I
- 10:36Speaker 1: came to Leanna. I met Sue and I became a
- 10:38Speaker 1: member of the gathering Spot. I became a member of
- 10:41Speaker 1: the gathering spot because some of my guys from Howard
- 10:43Speaker 1: we're all like members, and they're like, come here, network,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you can work from here, things like things of that nature.
- 10:48Speaker 1: And at the time, I was working for the startup
- 10:50Speaker 1: Bay side of New York um called Airtime that Sean Parker,
- 10:54Speaker 1: one of the guys who created Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg,
- 10:57Speaker 1: was a part of. So I was working for him
- 11:00Speaker 1: and just do a remote work. I didn't have to
- 11:01Speaker 1: I didn't have to go in anywhere. And so as
- 11:03Speaker 1: I began to be able to gasp, I begin to
- 11:05Speaker 1: be more people. And after my birthday, because I think
- 11:08Speaker 1: I moved there in November and my birthdays in January.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So after my birthday munch time met Sue. I was
- 11:13Speaker 1: with her like all the time. And I mean, y'all
- 11:14Speaker 1: know how to be with Sue. You know everybody in
- 11:16Speaker 1: the city. And so I was able to meet so
- 11:19Speaker 1: many different people, and that in turn made my business skyrocket.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Because what happened was sitting at the bar at the
- 11:26Speaker 1: Gathers Spart every day doing work. I started meeting people.
- 11:29Speaker 1: And my first warehouse was with somebody that I met
- 11:31Speaker 1: sitting at the bar. He said he knew about my
- 11:33Speaker 1: clothing brand and he had a warehouse that he just
- 11:35Speaker 1: had too much space in. He was like, hey, bro,
- 11:37Speaker 1: if you want to take a room in here, feel free.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And that's kind of how it started. I took a
- 11:41Speaker 1: room and then we expanded from there and then and
- 11:43Speaker 1: then it just kind of wait, wait, but wait, what
- 11:45Speaker 1: was taking work for right? I'm still trying to figure
- 11:47Speaker 1: out how you went from parties to close? Where was
- 11:52Speaker 1: the transition at? Yeah, so let me tell you this.
- 11:54Speaker 1: All my life, I've been an entrepreneur, but I never
- 11:57Speaker 1: knew what it meant like when you're when you're tem like,
- 11:59Speaker 1: what does the entre prenewer like? I'm like, you want
- 12:02Speaker 1: to be a doctor of this, this or this? And
- 12:04Speaker 1: I always wanted to work in sports. I actually wanted
- 12:06Speaker 1: to be a sports broadcast, which a lot of people
- 12:07Speaker 1: don't know. I love basketball, I love sports. But so
- 12:11Speaker 1: it came from like when I was a child, I
- 12:13Speaker 1: used to step snacks when they used to take all
- 12:14Speaker 1: the like they did this whole transition where they took
- 12:17Speaker 1: all the healthy snacks out of the vendom machines to
- 12:19Speaker 1: put I mean, all the good snacks and put healthy
- 12:21Speaker 1: snacks in. And so I basically went to dollar Tree,
- 12:24Speaker 1: but all of the stuff that it took out, and
- 12:25Speaker 1: I used to sell it for like to meet sent
- 12:27Speaker 1: a dollar, and my teachers used to allow it. And
- 12:29Speaker 1: I used to touch money. When everything I touch money,
- 12:32Speaker 1: it does something to me. And so I've been an
- 12:35Speaker 1: entrepreneur all my life. Howard, I was the president of
- 12:38Speaker 1: the club called North Carolina Club and a few are
- 12:41Speaker 1: the organizations. And I used to like design and stuff
- 12:43Speaker 1: for our clubs. But it was just like it wasn't
- 12:45Speaker 1: like I was. I was just having fun, like you know,
- 12:47Speaker 1: messing around on the computer. And I designed this one
- 12:50Speaker 1: baseball jersey that people loved, and so people that weren't
- 12:54Speaker 1: in my club, we're asking to buy it. And then
- 12:57Speaker 1: I was like, okay, cool, So I started selling people
- 12:59Speaker 1: that wasn't in the club. Then another club, which is
- 13:01Speaker 1: the Texas Club, which Justin was the president of. He
- 13:04Speaker 1: was like a you make guard stuff. So I made
- 13:05Speaker 1: that other people wanted to buy it. So I made
- 13:08Speaker 1: this shirt for the d n B Club DC, marril Lyn,
- 13:10Speaker 1: Virginia for people who who know, and it was like
- 13:13Speaker 1: the shape of DC, the shape of Maryland and the
- 13:16Speaker 1: shape of Virginia, but it said d n D how
- 13:18Speaker 1: are you University? D ND Club and wile had actually
- 13:21Speaker 1: got one of those. How I still to this day
- 13:24Speaker 1: have no clue how while I got it, but when
- 13:26Speaker 1: I saw the response of it, I was like, hey,
- 13:29Speaker 1: this is crazy. There's something in clothing. So I just
- 13:31Speaker 1: made a general Howard shirt. It was like very general
- 13:35Speaker 1: and regular Howard shirt, and then went crazy. I'm talking
- 13:38Speaker 1: about like I was like literally getting them printed from
- 13:40Speaker 1: like a local like T shirt shop, getting taxed because
- 13:43Speaker 1: I didn't know what I was doing, and I just
- 13:45Speaker 1: started like realizing there was money to be made, so
- 13:47Speaker 1: I started working smarter. And so I was like, well,
- 13:50Speaker 1: if I buy you know, ten of him ahead of time,
- 13:52Speaker 1: it will cost me this versus buying one by one
- 13:54Speaker 1: by one. Then my friendsman ants, I mean, and so
- 13:56Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm just gonna make a general HBC shirt
- 13:59Speaker 1: And that's kind how it got started was I was like,
- 14:01Speaker 1: all right, let me just know about this right exactly.
- 14:05Speaker 1: You explained the log though, explain it. So what we
- 14:08Speaker 1: did was we tried to integrate. Like Martin Fresh Princes,
- 14:13Speaker 1: they used to use these colors, the reds, the greens,
- 14:15Speaker 1: the oranges, all of that, and then these squiggly lines.
- 14:19Speaker 1: If you look at the Martin like the show Martin
- 14:21Speaker 1: the Low, they had the squidly and said, we wanted
- 14:24Speaker 1: to make sure that black was bold because we wanted
- 14:27Speaker 1: to be a statement black. No matter what you see,
- 14:29Speaker 1: you're gonna see black. You might not see support, you
- 14:31Speaker 1: might not see college, but you're gonna see black. And
- 14:33Speaker 1: we wanted that to be big and bold, and so
- 14:36Speaker 1: we kind of just added colors, made it like a
- 14:38Speaker 1: little shield almost, and it was a very simple process,
- 14:42Speaker 1: Like it wasn't I didn't know it was gonna be
- 14:44Speaker 1: the stamp that it is today when it wasn't initially created.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I feel strong when this man or something about the
- 14:55Speaker 1: shirt that I have on support black Lives. Where did
- 14:57Speaker 1: this come? So that shirt actually man and that that
- 15:01Speaker 1: people don't know. That's one of our most profitable products ever.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And they came with we released at her in twenty
- 15:08Speaker 1: four hours of making it. So after that everything happened
- 15:11Speaker 1: with George Floyd Black Lives Matter movement, it was like
- 15:13Speaker 1: going crazy. So we're like, we're a brand, this is
- 15:17Speaker 1: our direct audience. How do we support these efforts? How
- 15:20Speaker 1: do we like be a part of this? You know,
- 15:22Speaker 1: everybody is not a protester. Everybody wasn't you know doing
- 15:25Speaker 1: Everybody has their role that they play. So I knew
- 15:27Speaker 1: that we had an audience on social media that would
- 15:30Speaker 1: be willing to listen and support something we had to do.
- 15:33Speaker 1: So what we did was that was the first time
- 15:34Speaker 1: we had actually ever altered this logo. That's the first
- 15:37Speaker 1: time we ever did it. And so we wanted to
- 15:39Speaker 1: change the word collogists two lives because we felt like
- 15:42Speaker 1: support black lives would be just as powerful. So we
- 15:46Speaker 1: did that. We did a mock up and on the
- 15:48Speaker 1: back as a quote from Desmond to two UM. And
- 15:50Speaker 1: so what we did was we made sure that going
- 15:53Speaker 1: around soon can you turn around? I need to see
- 15:55Speaker 1: the quote. Let's see the quote, and it says, basically,
- 15:59Speaker 1: if you're new was fruelling situation of injustice the hair
- 16:03Speaker 1: you're part of the problem essentially, So we actually just
- 16:09Speaker 1: mocked up the shirt. We did a hot quality mock
- 16:12Speaker 1: up and we did some really cool graphics and we
- 16:14Speaker 1: we released that shirt within twenty four hours, and we
- 16:16Speaker 1: made a hundred thousand dollars and literally twenty four hours
- 16:22Speaker 1: with no shirts, like literally just the mock up. And
- 16:25Speaker 1: what we did was we donated proceeds, part of the
- 16:27Speaker 1: proceeds to Black Lives Matter movement and people who were
- 16:30Speaker 1: doing stuff in the fields, people who were helping people
- 16:32Speaker 1: get dead out of jail, things of that nature. And
- 16:34Speaker 1: so we thought that was really important because it showed
- 16:36Speaker 1: people that we were more than just a clothing brand
- 16:38Speaker 1: that talks about HBC, but we're really for the culture
- 16:41Speaker 1: and for our people, Ladies and gentle we're talking to
- 16:43Speaker 1: Corey Average are about support black colleges. We're gonna take
- 16:46Speaker 1: a quick break from the Bather Alert Show, but we'll
- 16:48Speaker 1: be right back with more after this. We'll be right
- 16:51Speaker 1: back with more of the Baller Alert Show. You're listening
- 16:56Speaker 1: to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show. What's
- 16:58Speaker 1: going on is Corey Arangers, CEO support Black colleges And
- 17:01Speaker 1: I'm sitting here with the ball Alert Show podcast. This
- 17:04Speaker 1: is an amazing experience. Thank you all. We are still
- 17:08Speaker 1: sitting with CEO core Are of Support Black Colleges Cord.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Can we get into the details of the warehouse, because
- 17:17Speaker 1: the last thing you said was, you know, being a
- 17:19Speaker 1: part of the culture, of being for the culture. You're
- 17:22Speaker 1: doing quite a bit with your warehouse that actually extends
- 17:25Speaker 1: to the culture in more ways than just making clothes
- 17:28Speaker 1: and shipping them. So, are there any exclusive details you
- 17:32Speaker 1: want to share with ball Over about what you've got along? Yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think I think one thing that's really important is
- 17:38Speaker 1: miam employ all black style, and so it's mostly HbCO alumni,
- 17:45Speaker 1: people who went to hbc U. S Um, it's really
- 17:47Speaker 1: important for us to get back and be able to
- 17:48Speaker 1: provide jobs to people who look like us in the community.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So you know, people come with us and say I
- 17:52Speaker 1: need to make some money. Um. If the interview process
- 17:54Speaker 1: is honestly not even that hard. Along, it's like, do
- 17:56Speaker 1: you want to job in the opportunity We're gonna give
- 17:58Speaker 1: you that chance, no matter what your background is, no
- 18:00Speaker 1: matter what you've been through. It's all about giving the
- 18:02Speaker 1: opportunity to people who may not have had an opportunity. So, um,
- 18:05Speaker 1: that's one thing we're doing the where else, and I'm
- 18:07Speaker 1: really proud of we're actually in our backspace. We're gonna
- 18:10Speaker 1: build a basketball court and so everybody knows that we're
- 18:13Speaker 1: really connected with the NBIA and tapped in with a
- 18:15Speaker 1: lot of players. So I want to space for players.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Not only not only we can use obviously for fun
- 18:20Speaker 1: networking things to that nature. The players can come and
- 18:23Speaker 1: train on the off season or when they're in town,
- 18:25Speaker 1: somewhere private that no one knows that they are, that
- 18:27Speaker 1: they are, and then they also gives us a chance
- 18:29Speaker 1: to like interview them and give them close and it's
- 18:32Speaker 1: just an opportunity for us to just you know, expand
- 18:35Speaker 1: our reach and so definitely wanna tap into that. We're
- 18:39Speaker 1: also doing a pop up shop. Um actually, Sue, I
- 18:42Speaker 1: thought Sue about it and gave me this amazing my
- 18:45Speaker 1: hats to the side. Man. Listen, we're gonna do a
- 18:49Speaker 1: soft launch first and then we're gonna do a real
- 18:51Speaker 1: launch today. So so I'll extend that invitation to you all.
- 18:55Speaker 1: But we're gonna open it up. We're gonna give two
- 18:57Speaker 1: minutes a minute, thirty two minutes for people to come
- 18:59Speaker 1: in here, old bags up with cloths and we're gonna
- 19:02Speaker 1: make it a community thing. We'll have Slutty Began truck
- 19:04Speaker 1: out here, We'll have some of our guys out fronts
- 19:06Speaker 1: that have businesses, and we're gonna just really make it
- 19:08Speaker 1: a whole thing on on April March April three. So
- 19:13Speaker 1: we're planning. We're in the process of planning that. Now
- 19:15Speaker 1: we're gonna have my girls to hosting and get get
- 19:17Speaker 1: some of my favorite DJs out there. Um and so yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I mean, I think the thing is really important for us.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Get out there, come on now, that's the easy and
- 19:27Speaker 1: we're gonna really just try to tap in with the community.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think for us, a lot of people don't know
- 19:31Speaker 1: where in Atlanta, and that's what's crazy, because you know
- 19:34Speaker 1: when people are you in Atlanta, I'm like, yeah, I
- 19:36Speaker 1: mean normally I'm behind the scenes. But I think it's
- 19:39Speaker 1: the time for us to really start putting our foot
- 19:41Speaker 1: down and saying, look, we're here and we're here to help.
- 19:43Speaker 1: We want to provide the community. We're not trying to
- 19:45Speaker 1: take away. We're trying to provide and be an asset
- 19:47Speaker 1: to this community because this community has really helped us
- 19:50Speaker 1: take our business to the next level. You mentioned us
- 19:53Speaker 1: Slutty began. And that's one thing that I will say
- 19:56Speaker 1: is I feel like some of these black businesses are
- 19:59Speaker 1: doing such a good job at working across right um.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I think Easter Ray kind of said it the best.
- 20:05Speaker 1: It's like, listen, if you're at this level, you think
- 20:08Speaker 1: Oprah gonna open your email, you think Oprea cares about
- 20:11Speaker 1: collaborating with you. But what happens is in Atlanta especially,
- 20:14Speaker 1: we're seeing a lot of successful black owned businesses and
- 20:17Speaker 1: businesses that are on the rise really support each other, collaborating,
- 20:21Speaker 1: sharing their resources. And I think that's something really dope
- 20:24Speaker 1: that you guys have done along with Studdy Being. So
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'm super excited to see that that relationship has grown
- 20:30Speaker 1: the way that it has. Plus, I can't wait to
- 20:32Speaker 1: get my Sluddy Being burger when I come to the
- 20:33Speaker 1: popub Okay. I have a short and I think it's
- 20:37Speaker 1: important collaboration over competition. I mean, like, it's no, it's
- 20:40Speaker 1: no competition, Like you're trying to do something great. I'm
- 20:43Speaker 1: trying to do something great. How can we both utilize
- 20:45Speaker 1: our audiences to do something great together? And that's what
- 20:48Speaker 1: it's all about. I look up to thinking, I look
- 20:50Speaker 1: up to Ryan and take care. They got inspired. I
- 20:52Speaker 1: look up to you all like I'm looking up to
- 20:54Speaker 1: people who are doing the basic meaning in their space, respectively.
- 20:57Speaker 1: How can I help you? How can we help How
- 20:58Speaker 1: can we help each other? How can we build together
- 21:00Speaker 1: the overall health the Atlantic community and the Black community
- 21:03Speaker 1: in general. Now, before we get into a balling, but
- 21:06Speaker 1: I want to ask your thoughts on this. So the
- 21:08Speaker 1: Kendrick Johnson case, UM, that is the South Georgia teenager
- 21:11Speaker 1: who was founded Inside the World up Jim Matt back
- 21:14Speaker 1: in January two thirteen, that has actually been reopened. UM.
- 21:18Speaker 1: There was a lot of suspicion around the case when
- 21:20Speaker 1: it came out. What do you think about this case
- 21:23Speaker 1: being reopen? What do you hope to see from this?
- 21:26Speaker 1: Obviously just being served. I mean, it's it's so hard
- 21:29Speaker 1: because you you look at things that happened years and
- 21:31Speaker 1: years ago, and we're still trying to rectify some of
- 21:34Speaker 1: the things you know that that have been we've been
- 21:36Speaker 1: done wrong, and and it's one of those things where
- 21:39Speaker 1: you know, you want to see just the search and
- 21:40Speaker 1: the best ability to today, which doesn't you know, excuse
- 21:44Speaker 1: the fact that you know, we went all these years
- 21:45Speaker 1: without it. So I think one thing that we've been
- 21:47Speaker 1: doing in Atlanta's especially is voting and making sure the
- 21:50Speaker 1: right people are in office so that when things like
- 21:52Speaker 1: this happened, we executed the right way. I'm glad it's
- 21:55Speaker 1: being reopened, but I'm mather that it took this long,
- 21:58Speaker 1: Like why did it take us to vote this way
- 22:00Speaker 1: and do all this extra stuff? Just I mean, come on,
- 22:03Speaker 1: it was clearly injustice, and so I think it's one
- 22:05Speaker 1: of those things. I'm glad that it's happening now, but
- 22:08Speaker 1: next time, let's not wait. Let's make sure it happens
- 22:10Speaker 1: when when that time is coming, Serve your justice now,
- 22:13Speaker 1: do your time, whatever that may be. We need to
- 22:15Speaker 1: make sure that we're holding our people accountable that we're
- 22:17Speaker 1: putting in the office and the court system. And you know,
- 22:20Speaker 1: even though the systems weren't made for us, we have
- 22:22Speaker 1: a chance in the opportunity to use our voice to
- 22:24Speaker 1: speak up and make change facts. Facts. If you can
- 22:28Speaker 1: see any celebrity living or not in support black colleges,
- 22:32Speaker 1: who would it be easy? Easy, far fetch? That's not
- 22:38Speaker 1: far fetch. That's so we we calls listen man if
- 22:45Speaker 1: it if she does happen, to wear. Don't don't charge
- 22:48Speaker 1: a hundred dollars of hoodie. No, people, I know you
- 22:54Speaker 1: wouldn't be out to mail. Let us know where we
- 22:57Speaker 1: can support black college. Yeah, so you can find us
- 23:01Speaker 1: on our Instagram which is recently verified at the Blue
- 23:05Speaker 1: Checks Gag. Yeah, I supported by colleges or our website
- 23:10Speaker 1: www dot support Black Colleges dot org. Core average everybody.
- 23:14Speaker 1: We appreciate you for joining the Bottle of L Show,
- 23:17Speaker 1: but we got bottler men we want to do around.
- 23:20Speaker 1: All right, We'll be right back. We'll be right back.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Stay tuned with more of the Baller Alert Show. You're
- 23:27Speaker 1: listening to a special edition of the Baller Alert Show.
- 23:30Speaker 1: What's going on? Is Corey Oranger CEO support Black Colleges
- 23:33Speaker 1: and I'm sitting here with a Baller Alert Show podcast.
- 23:36Speaker 1: This is an amazing experience. Thank you all. Message okay
- 23:40Speaker 1: it this time for baller mail and support Black colleges
- 23:45Speaker 1: is here. Oh man, uh hey, Rory. I'm a love
- 23:50Speaker 1: of two men. I called my ex cheating because the
- 23:53Speaker 1: city was shut down last year because of COVID. He
- 23:56Speaker 1: was dealing with me and his co worker at his job.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I was regnant but lost the baby before I caught
- 24:02Speaker 1: him cheating on me. I still love him, but I'll
- 24:04Speaker 1: never trust him. The problem I have about it is
- 24:07Speaker 1: I worked with him too, so I see him every day.
- 24:11Speaker 1: He is so attractive, Rory. That's one issue. The new
- 24:16Speaker 1: The new issue is I'm currently in a relationship with
- 24:19Speaker 1: a great guy and I love it here. His only
- 24:22Speaker 1: issue is the bedroom. I hate it there. I wish
- 24:25Speaker 1: I could swap my exit sex game with my new
- 24:28Speaker 1: man because the sex is trash, but everything else is perfect.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It has me missing my ex and his body and
- 24:36Speaker 1: his sex. I'm gonna let you go first, sir. What
- 24:42Speaker 1: advice would you give this young lady? Wow, I didn't
- 24:47Speaker 1: know it's gonna come like that. Crazy. I think that
- 24:55Speaker 1: is just one of those things where you have to
- 24:56Speaker 1: figure out what's important to you. You know, if it's
- 24:59Speaker 1: all about this, it's for you that you need to
- 25:00Speaker 1: focus on that. If it's all about the relationship, you
- 25:03Speaker 1: to focus on that. Because you can help someone and
- 25:05Speaker 1: got someone to be better at something you can always
- 25:08Speaker 1: teach and help learn. Now, if you don't have the
- 25:10Speaker 1: patience of the wounds to do that, that might not
- 25:12Speaker 1: be the person for you. And if you're you know,
- 25:14Speaker 1: still if your mind is someone else seems like her mom,
- 25:16Speaker 1: maybe a little bit everywhere. So she has to figure out,
- 25:18Speaker 1: you know, what she wants for herself. First evaluate the situation,
- 25:21Speaker 1: whether it's pros and cons, news and dunce whatever that
- 25:24Speaker 1: looks like, and then figure out what's gonna work best
- 25:26Speaker 1: for her, because at the end of the day, if
- 25:27Speaker 1: she doesn't make the right decision for her, it's always
- 25:29Speaker 1: gonna be an issue no matter what the other two
- 25:30Speaker 1: guys are doing. Go ahead, so that that that was
- 25:35Speaker 1: a great HDCU answered, Now, this is what I'm gonna say. Okay,
- 25:40Speaker 1: it means it to me? Is now a lot of
- 25:43Speaker 1: times we want to believe that we can teach a
- 25:44Speaker 1: man to have better sex, because sometimes he just ain't
- 25:46Speaker 1: got exists. Okay, he just ain't got it, or two
- 25:50Speaker 1: he doesn't have a desire to want to learn, because
- 25:52Speaker 1: a lot of times y'all know y'all got bad sex.
- 25:54Speaker 1: And if you know it's bad, why haven't you taken
- 25:56Speaker 1: the time to learn to do better? Why haven't you
- 25:59Speaker 1: taken the time to figure out what toys or what
- 26:01Speaker 1: areas or y'all know y'all got bad sex. So if
- 26:05Speaker 1: that man hadn't taken the initiative to fix it, I
- 26:08Speaker 1: would just say we're all I mean, you could bring
- 26:10Speaker 1: it up and if he don't seem to want to
- 26:13Speaker 1: try just being the over relationship, just have your cake
- 26:19Speaker 1: and eat it too, because that's what you're supposed to
- 26:20Speaker 1: do with cake anyway. Okay, that's all I got. Listen
- 26:22Speaker 1: to him, baby, it looked like you got two headaches
- 26:25Speaker 1: on your hand, and you need to pick which damn
- 26:27Speaker 1: headache you want to deal with. Do you want to
- 26:29Speaker 1: wake up and not having no orgasms every day or
- 26:32Speaker 1: once a week or twice a week, have but or
- 26:34Speaker 1: you want to get you your head round in the pillowcase,
- 26:37Speaker 1: but then be worried about this guy cheating on your
- 26:39Speaker 1: ass with your coworker or your sister or your friend. Boo.
- 26:42Speaker 1: You need to figure out what the hell you want.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Or you could do like what sou said and be
- 26:46Speaker 1: able to open that their relationship. But guess what the
- 26:48Speaker 1: guy is gonna be in the open relationships also, so uh,
- 26:52Speaker 1: just be prepared for whatever type of headache you're trying
- 26:55Speaker 1: to deal with. And like my guy said, so to
- 26:58Speaker 1: support black colleges. If it ain't right with you, it
- 27:01Speaker 1: ain't gonna be right at all. Okay, So if you're
- 27:04Speaker 1: having flashbacks in your head getting rammed in the pillowcase
- 27:07Speaker 1: and uh, you know you're jumping off the dresser, y'all
- 27:10Speaker 1: playing helicopter man at night with a good sex guy,
- 27:13Speaker 1: but he ain't ship you know, you just I don't
- 27:16Speaker 1: know if you want that headache, because that trust headache
- 27:19Speaker 1: is a bad headache. To have the bad sex headache,
- 27:22Speaker 1: but everything else is good. It's a minor headache. You
- 27:24Speaker 1: can take two leaves when you wake up in the
- 27:26Speaker 1: morning and you'll be back to normal because you're gonna
- 27:28Speaker 1: have all the fields paid and everything else is gonna
- 27:31Speaker 1: be laid out for you, and y'all can just enhanced.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Lets tell him to toss your sally there and what's
- 27:35Speaker 1: in a while? Tell them do something. I mean, ain't
- 27:38Speaker 1: nothing wrong with the with the with the mouth carrier,
- 27:40Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Let's go ahead and go
- 27:42Speaker 1: down and how you go all crazy? So at least
- 27:44Speaker 1: you pop off one, you know, if it's motion, ain't
- 27:47Speaker 1: even goddamn working. You know, Hey man, there's some other
- 27:50Speaker 1: things you need to worry about. You worry about the
- 27:52Speaker 1: wrong thing. How about that God, y'all just love to
- 27:55Speaker 1: suppress women when it comes to good sex. Well, God,
- 28:07Speaker 1: we appreciate that. Baller mail is always Ferrari Simmons. We
- 28:11Speaker 1: thank you so much, Corey Averger from Supporting Black Colleges
- 28:15Speaker 1: for coming through the Bottom Alert Show. I want everybody
- 28:18Speaker 1: to check it out and tune in next week because
- 28:20Speaker 1: we're gonna be back right here. Taking enough of baller alerts.
