- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:04Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:07Speaker 2: news twice a week.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm Sophie Torber. And I'm Amy Torber.
- 0:10Speaker 2: And coming up on today's show, why Matt Zukowski savagely
- 0:15Speaker 2: uninvited friends to his upcoming wedding to Tammy Hembrough, the
- 0:18Speaker 2: frozen sandwich debate dividing the internet, and our highs and
- 0:22Speaker 2: lows of the week. But first, fitness influencer and entrepreneur
- 0:26Speaker 2: Steph Clare-Smith has been forced to defend her decision to
- 0:29Speaker 2: to blur her son's face.
- 0:31Speaker 1: On social media.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so over the weekend, Steph uploaded a video of
- 0:35Speaker 2: her and her husband, Josh Miller, taking Harvey, who's three
- 0:38Speaker 2: years old, to a monster truck show.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It was a.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Really cute reel, but all I could focus on was
- 0:45Speaker 2: Harvey's pixelated face. It almost looked like he was on
- 0:48Speaker 2: the news and he'd been accused of a crime. Or
- 0:50Speaker 2: in witness protection because it switched between his whole face
- 0:54Speaker 2: being pixelated and or a large emoji. And it was
- 0:58Speaker 2: quite funny because at one moment, everything disappeared and you
- 1:01Speaker 2: could clearly see his face. I also noticed the blur
- 1:03Speaker 2: moved at one point to a man who was sitting
- 1:06Speaker 2: behind them. I was like, what is going on here?
- 1:09Speaker 2: And as somebody who does video editing, it actually takes
- 1:12Speaker 2: a lot of time to pixelate people's faces because you
- 1:16Speaker 2: have to keep moving where the pixelation goes.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it definitely makes it more complicated.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Now, this is, of course, off the back of Steph
- 1:23Speaker 2: announcing last week that going forward she would no longer
- 1:27Speaker 2: be sharing Harvey's face online. And the decision was sparked
- 1:30Speaker 2: by Harvey being recognised in the street by strangers. So
- 1:33Speaker 2: when he wasn't with Steph and Josh, when he was
- 1:36Speaker 2: in childcare or he was with his grandparents, randos would
- 1:39Speaker 2: come up to him and be like, hey, Harvey, which
- 1:41Speaker 2: would be so creepy. Well, last week we were debating
- 1:44Speaker 2: how Steph and Josh would navigate no longer including Harvey
- 1:47Speaker 2: and their vision. I just assumed that she was going
- 1:50Speaker 2: to keep him off socials altogether because But no, they've
- 1:53Speaker 2: decided to go with the pixelation, which has elicited a
- 1:56Speaker 2: huge response from Steph's followers. And I think it's partly
- 2:00Speaker 2: because it's one of the first times that we've seen
- 2:02Speaker 2: a local influencer conceal their child's face in this way. Now,
- 2:07Speaker 2: while some followers commended Steph's steps to protect her son's privacy,
- 2:12Speaker 2: the vast majority seemed very confused by this approach, particularly
- 2:16Speaker 2: those who had missed her updates about it. So one
- 2:20Speaker 2: follower tagged her friends under the post and said, oh
- 2:22Speaker 2: my God, nah, that's it, I'm done. Blurred face has
- 2:26Speaker 2: done it for me. Whilst another said, it's literally three
- 2:29Speaker 2: years too late. All you have to do is go
- 2:32Speaker 2: back through her page at the 3000 photos and videos
- 2:35Speaker 2: of him.
- 2:35Speaker 1: People know who she is. They know who he is.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Blurring his face won't make a difference, not now. Now,
- 2:41Speaker 2: one of Steph's followers jumped to her defense and wrote back,
- 2:44Speaker 2: it's all about consent, right? You may have said yes
- 2:47Speaker 2: to it before, but you have every right to change
- 2:49Speaker 2: your mind and people should respect that. A yes before
- 2:52Speaker 2: doesn't mean a yes every time. And I tend to
- 2:55Speaker 2: agree with this. Now, Steph was really visibly upset and
- 2:58Speaker 2: frustrated by the critics and she responded to the negativity
- 3:02Speaker 2: by saying this.
- 3:02Speaker 3: It like absolutely baffles me how people feel like they
- 3:06Speaker 3: can absolutely chime in to your life and your choices.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I understand that there's photos and stuff of him up
- 3:14Speaker 3: there from the past intention was not to erase him
- 3:16Speaker 3: completely from the internet it was to avoid putting up
- 3:20Speaker 3: anything from now as he's growing into as he looks
- 3:24Speaker 3: like a little boy whether or not you agree with
- 3:27Speaker 3: what we're doing that is totally up to you but
- 3:30Speaker 3: i'm so sick of it i'm so sick of people's
- 3:34Speaker 3: judgment on our decisions for our family if it's not
- 3:38Speaker 3: what you would do been avoiding putting content up of
- 3:44Speaker 3: his face and that's been fine but that monster truck
- 3:47Speaker 3: video was really special to me it was a really
- 3:50Speaker 3: fun outing as a family i really wanted to be
- 3:53Speaker 3: able to share it it was like the cutest reactions
- 3:57Speaker 3: from harvey and we had the best time and so
- 4:00Speaker 3: the way i felt comfortable sharing that was blurring out
- 4:02Speaker 3: his face that might not make sense to a lot
- 4:04Speaker 3: of you who has seen his face on social media
- 4:07Speaker 3: before but it's what we've decided to do so Maybe
- 4:12Speaker 3: I'll just go back to not putting him up much
- 4:15Speaker 3: at all.
- 4:16Speaker 2: This is a really hard one because I can see
- 4:18Speaker 2: both sides. I think that parenting in this digital age,
- 4:22Speaker 2: particularly when you have a large following like Steph, would
- 4:25Speaker 2: be really tough to navigate. And I truly think that
- 4:27Speaker 2: people do have the right to change their mind and
- 4:30Speaker 2: put boundaries in place to protect their children. However, I
- 4:34Speaker 2: can see why this elicited such a big response because
- 4:37Speaker 2: it was really jarring and confusing to Steph's followers who
- 4:41Speaker 2: missed these original posts about it.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And it just looked ridiculous.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, but on Steph's comment about, oh, it was a
- 4:47Speaker 2: really cute video because of the way Harvey was reacting,
- 4:51Speaker 2: we couldn't see his reactions because his whole face was pixelated.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And that's the issue, I think, with this video is
- 4:56Speaker 2: that there was no point in sharing it because the
- 4:59Speaker 2: pixelation took away from this fun family day. It was
- 5:03Speaker 2: so distracting. And I think moving forward, if they don't
- 5:06Speaker 2: want to share Harvey online, which is 100% fine, Maybe
- 5:10Speaker 2: choose other content to share that doesn't involve him. Well,
- 5:12Speaker 2: the thing is because we've already had all of this
- 5:15Speaker 2: access to his life for three years, to someone who
- 5:18Speaker 2: hasn't seen her updates, they're sort of like, oh my God,
- 5:21Speaker 2: what has happened to him?
- 5:22Speaker 1: Why is he suddenly being blurred? Well, it looked comical,
- 5:25Speaker 1: didn't it?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah. The thing that's concerning is that if suddenly every
- 5:30Speaker 2: child's face is pixelated and blurred or mummy bloggers suddenly
- 5:34Speaker 2: cut children out of their content, where are we seeing
- 5:38Speaker 2: real life parenting play out? Because for me, I don't
- 5:42Speaker 2: have children yet, but I think it's really worthwhile to
- 5:46Speaker 2: see the realities of parenting and hear about what it's
- 5:49Speaker 2: like instead of being fed the highlight.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Reel all the time.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but do we have to see their face constantly?
- 5:55Speaker 2: I mean, there's also the other debate about, I suppose,
- 5:58Speaker 2: the safety of the children and how much information is
- 6:01Speaker 2: being shared about them online. I understand that you don't
- 6:03Speaker 2: want to totally erase information mothers and fathers' experiences. But
- 6:07Speaker 2: is it that necessary for us to see Harvey's reaction
- 6:09Speaker 2: to the monster trucks? Or could we just say that
- 6:11Speaker 2: they're on a family day out and here's the back
- 6:13Speaker 2: of his head and Steph could explain what they'd gotten
- 6:15Speaker 2: up to? And also because all we saw was her reaction.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's what, yeah, yeah. And that's what it seemed like
- 6:19Speaker 1: she wanted to put out there.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I can also see why people are questioning why she
- 6:23Speaker 2: hasn't got rid of the other photos of Harvey in
- 6:27Speaker 2: her feed. I mean, I'm not suggesting that she has
- 6:29Speaker 2: to go back and delete three years of content, but
- 6:32Speaker 2: You might remove the stuff from this year because she said, oh,
- 6:35Speaker 2: he's growing into a young boy. His features are becoming
- 6:38Speaker 2: more recognizable. Well, then go back and delete the recent
- 6:42Speaker 2: photos of him. That would make a lot more sense.
- 6:44Speaker 2: But maybe it's just a decision they've made from this
- 6:46Speaker 2: point forward. We've both agreed as parents that we're not
- 6:50Speaker 2: going to share his face anymore. Obviously, he's going to
- 6:52Speaker 2: change over the next couple of years. But it seems
- 6:54Speaker 2: to me that they've just gone from now on we're
- 6:57Speaker 2: doing it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Do you know what's funny though?
- 6:58Speaker 2: No one's having a crack at Josh and saying, oh,
- 7:01Speaker 2: he better go and delete all of the photos of Harvey. Fuck,
- 7:03Speaker 2: I hope he's not going to be making Harvey baby
- 7:05Speaker 2: chinos and have Harvey's face blurred.
- 7:07Speaker 1: As he drinks them.
- 7:09Speaker 2: That's just the odd thing about it. It'll be interesting
- 7:11Speaker 2: to see how Steph navigates this now.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Will the blur continue? I don't think it will. Do
- 7:16Speaker 1: you know what?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Seeing that blur actually reminded me of when I used
- 7:20Speaker 2: to work at Today Tonight and I used to feel
- 7:22Speaker 2: so bad for the editors because, as I said, it's
- 7:24Speaker 2: quite a lengthy task to actually blur someone's face because
- 7:28Speaker 2: you have to keep moving the blur. And I remember
- 7:30Speaker 2: there was a story and this man's face had to
- 7:33Speaker 2: be blurred for legal reasons and in one scene the
- 7:36Speaker 2: editor missed the blur. So this 10-minute story was like blur, blur, blur,
- 7:40Speaker 2: and then it just dropped off.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I do think it sends a strong message to her
- 7:45Speaker 2: followers though, because this has been covered in a lot
- 7:48Speaker 2: of mainstream media publications that she's wanting to conceal his
- 7:52Speaker 2: identity because people have been coming up to him. Now
- 7:55Speaker 2: when people see Steph, Josh and Harvey on the street,
- 8:00Speaker 2: they know not to come up and say hello. It's
- 8:03Speaker 2: pretty savage.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Like that's red hot for me.
- 8:05Speaker 4: It's a wedding.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Matt Zukowski says he was forced to uninvite guests from
- 8:10Speaker 2: his upcoming wedding to Tammy Hembrough due to numbers being
- 8:14Speaker 2: too tight. Talking on his podcast alongside his co-host, Anna McAvoy,
- 8:19Speaker 2: he revealed his mates were upset when he cut their
- 8:21Speaker 2: girlfriends from the list.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Are people asking for more plus ones?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Not really.
- 8:28Speaker 4: They know that the list is really tight. It's like,
- 8:31Speaker 4: I've leaned it up. I actually originally, this sounds shit ass,
- 8:36Speaker 4: invited a lot of my mates' girlfriends that I know
- 8:39Speaker 4: and I've known for years. And then I had to
- 8:41Speaker 4: send them a message saying, hey, I've had to lean
- 8:43Speaker 4: up the list. They're not like I have to uninvite them.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I'm like, sorry.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Dude, that's mean.
- 8:48Speaker 4: One of my mates was pretty upset about it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'd be mortified.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but we hadn't handed out the invitation yet. Sorry.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Okay, so you hadn't.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I'd asked for names and addresses, full names, spellings. Of theirs.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Of theirs, of their partners as well.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And they just assumed their partners would be invited.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Yeah, so one of my mates.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's pretty savage. Like that's red hot for me.
- 9:05Speaker 4: It's a wedding. It's, you know.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It's the wedding of the year, baby.
- 9:10Speaker 2: How pissed off would you be if you were one
- 9:12Speaker 2: of these girlfriends? You'd probably been telling everybody you're going
- 9:15Speaker 2: to the wedding of the year, you're going to Tammy
- 9:17Speaker 2: and Matt, only to find out last minute that you
- 9:20Speaker 2: have been bumped from the invite list, especially because this
- 9:23Speaker 2: is a destination wedding and all of Matt's friends and
- 9:26Speaker 2: family are in Melbourne.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So as soon as you.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Heard it was happening, you would have jumped on, booked flights,
- 9:31Speaker 2: booked accommodation. I just think the thing that makes it
- 9:35Speaker 2: worse is also that that Matt has clearly known his
- 9:38Speaker 2: mate's girlfriends for years. He said that these people are
- 9:41Speaker 2: genuinely friends and he's gotten.
- 9:42Speaker 1: To know them well.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It'd be different if your friend had a new girlfriend,
- 9:47Speaker 2: maybe you hadn't met, but this is really brutal. I
- 9:51Speaker 2: got the vibe from Matt's grab that Tammy had asked
- 9:54Speaker 2: him to uninvite the guests because maybe she hasn't met
- 9:57Speaker 2: the girlfriends. I think it's really different when you are
- 10:00Speaker 2: the bride and there are restrictions on how many people
- 10:02Speaker 2: you can invite. I know for me, I didn't really
- 10:04Speaker 2: want people being at Dale and my wedding who didn't
- 10:07Speaker 2: know us very well.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I get that in a normal situation.
- 10:11Speaker 2: You want to invite people that know you as a
- 10:13Speaker 2: couple and have seen you hang out as a They
- 10:17Speaker 2: literally got engaged after knowing each other for a couple
- 10:20Speaker 2: of months and then forged ahead with this.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Very fast wedding.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So I'm sure there's a lot of people at this
- 10:26Speaker 2: wedding who haven't hung out with them.
- 10:28Speaker 4: As a couple.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Well, I wonder if Tammy's.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Had to uninvite her friends, like her female friends, boyfriends.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I doubt it. She's probably covering the bill. That's the
- 10:35Speaker 1: other thing I don't understand.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I know some people have to keep their guest list
- 10:39Speaker 2: really tight because of budget constraints.
- 10:42Speaker 1: But when you're worth $ 50 million....
- 10:44Speaker 2: You think you can invite a couple of extra people
- 10:46Speaker 2: just to save the peace. But maybe it's a specific
- 10:49Speaker 2: venue that has restrictions as well. It's quite funny because
- 10:52Speaker 2: Dale has been in that situation before. Before I knew
- 10:55Speaker 2: him and he was with his ex, he got invited
- 10:58Speaker 2: to a wedding, but the ex was told not to
- 11:00Speaker 2: come and all of his friends' partners were also not invited.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So it was just one big boys table. That's just
- 11:06Speaker 1: asking for trouble. Well, I actually thought, you know what?
- 11:09Speaker 2: Sometimes there's nothing worse than going to a wedding where
- 11:11Speaker 2: you don't really know the people that well. and they're
- 11:14Speaker 2: not really your friends.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So I actually don't mind it.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But it's clear that he is friends with these people.
- 11:20Speaker 2: It is totally offensive. And what makes it even worse
- 11:23Speaker 2: is that one of the girlfriends who has now subsequently
- 11:26Speaker 2: been uninvited, it's actually her birthday, the weekend of the wedding.
- 11:31Speaker 2: So she is flying over to Byron Bay to basically
- 11:34Speaker 2: sit in a hotel room by herself. Well, let's be honest,
- 11:37Speaker 2: she's probably not going to be by herself. All of
- 11:39Speaker 2: the other jaded girlfriends who got uninvited are probably going
- 11:42Speaker 2: to be.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Up there as well.
- 11:43Speaker 2: That's what makes it even tougher though, because if you're
- 11:46Speaker 2: invited as a couple, you can split the cost of
- 11:48Speaker 2: the accommodation. But I mean, I suppose they could bunk
- 11:51Speaker 2: in with other guys there, but it just makes it
- 11:54Speaker 2: more complicated. And I personally would be pissed off if
- 11:57Speaker 2: my husband was going away And spending all of this
- 12:00Speaker 2: money to go to a wedding that I hadn't been
- 12:02Speaker 2: invited to. It's really cute because Matt also mentioned on
- 12:06Speaker 2: the podcast how he'd recently caught up with his grandparents
- 12:08Speaker 2: and thank goodness they have not been uninvited. So they
- 12:12Speaker 2: went ahead and booked flights, but they went to flight
- 12:15Speaker 2: center and booked in with a travel agent to get
- 12:18Speaker 2: their flights and accommodations sorted.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That is so cute for interstate travel.
- 12:22Speaker 4: It is.
- 12:22Speaker 1: That is absolutely darling that they did that.
- 12:24Speaker 2: And the grandma actually brought in her invite, which had
- 12:27Speaker 2: all of the information on it. And apparently one of
- 12:30Speaker 2: the travel agents spotted it and was like, oh my God,
- 12:33Speaker 2: is this for Matt and Tammy Hembrough's wedding?
- 12:36Speaker 1: And she was like, please don't say anything.
- 12:38Speaker 2: You can't tell a soul about it and was really
- 12:40Speaker 2: worried about it. I wonder if this was after the
- 12:42Speaker 2: whole sofa dofa leaking incident. What I want to know
- 12:45Speaker 2: is if Matt's having to uninvite all of his friends' girlfriends,
- 12:49Speaker 2: how the hell did sofa dofa cop an invite?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Because I have never, ever seen her hang out with
- 12:55Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Which isn't to say that they're not secretly friends behind
- 12:59Speaker 2: the scenes, but they don't even live in.
- 13:00Speaker 1: The same state.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Well, doesn't that add another level of disappointment for the
- 13:04Speaker 2: girls who are uninvited? Because this place will be crawling
- 13:07Speaker 2: with influencers.
- 13:08Speaker 1: It'll be the best people watching spot.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And Matt has actually experienced being uninvited to a wedding himself,
- 13:16Speaker 2: which I think makes this even more of a dick
- 13:18Speaker 2: move because he knows how.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Shit you feel when you're not included. So a few
- 13:22Speaker 1: years ago.
- 13:23Speaker 2: When he was attending a wedding with his ex in Geelong,
- 13:26Speaker 2: He spent the whole weekend sitting in a hotel room
- 13:30Speaker 2: in a suit waiting to see if he got a
- 13:32Speaker 2: call up. And Anna said that it's so hypocritical of
- 13:35Speaker 2: him now to do the same thing to others because
- 13:37Speaker 2: he literally would not stop going on about being not
- 13:40Speaker 2: invited to this wedding. Now in tomorrow's subscriber episode, we're
- 13:44Speaker 2: going to be talking more about wedding invite etiquette And
- 13:47Speaker 2: about a couple who actually sent out you're not invited
- 13:50Speaker 2: cards to family or friends ahead of their wedding.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Maybe they could have done this.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Well, that's just a huge slap in the face, isn't it?
- 13:57Speaker 2: And if you do want to listen to that episode,
- 13:59Speaker 2: don't forget to subscribe to Outspoken Plus.
- 14:02Speaker 5: I'm going to pop these all together and into the freezer.
- 14:06Speaker 2: This week, a Sunshine Coast content creator sparked a huge
- 14:09Speaker 2: debate in our Facebook group. To freeze or not to
- 14:12Speaker 2: freeze sandwiches for kids' lunchboxes? Now, Amy, this post went
- 14:16Speaker 2: off in our group. Can you bring us up to speed?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so Aisha.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Easel, who shares cooking videos and budgeting tips on Instagram
- 14:23Speaker 2: and TikTok, shared with her 59,000 followers on Instagram how
- 14:27Speaker 2: she just got back into bulk prepping her three sons'
- 14:30Speaker 2: sandwiches for their school lunchboxes.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Let's have a listen to what Aisha said.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Trying to encourage the kids to pack their own lunches
- 14:38Speaker 5: in the morning. And if it means I just would
- 14:40Speaker 5: make sandwiches once every couple of weeks, freeze it and
- 14:43Speaker 5: they pack their lunches, that would make my life so
- 14:45Speaker 5: much easier. But tell me why I took three full
- 14:48Speaker 5: loaves of bread just to make eight days worth of
- 14:52Speaker 5: sandwiches for my boys. Like, I did not realize, like,
- 14:56Speaker 5: this is how many sandwiches I make in eight days.
- 14:59Speaker 3: It's just crazy.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Her spreads of choice were Vegemite and cheese, honey, and
- 15:05Speaker 2: also Nutella.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Oh, that's a winner there.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind a Nutella sandwich when I was at school.
- 15:10Speaker 2: And I've got to say eight sandwiches each for three boys.
- 15:15Speaker 2: That's a lot of food and requires a lot of
- 15:17Speaker 2: freezer space. Is it a sandwich a day? So is
- 15:20Speaker 2: this covering eight days of school lunch boxes? Yes, that's
- 15:24Speaker 2: exactly what it is. So the idea is is that
- 15:26Speaker 2: in the morning, the kids grab out their sandwiches from
- 15:29Speaker 2: the freezer and by lunchtime, these sandwiches are defrosted.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Perfect for lunchtime. How soggy would that be though?
- 15:36Speaker 2: I have never eaten a frozen sandwich before and I
- 15:41Speaker 2: can imagine it would be even more difficult to persuade
- 15:45Speaker 2: a child to eat a frozen soggy sandwich. There was
- 15:49Speaker 2: a lot of mixed reaction in our Facebook group. So
- 15:52Speaker 2: some people like you were disgusted at the thought of
- 15:54Speaker 2: eating frozen sandwiches. And the main concern, as you said,
- 15:58Speaker 2: was that the sandwiches would be soggy by the time
- 16:00Speaker 2: they were defrosted. However, there were a lot of group
- 16:03Speaker 2: members pointing out that because of the spreads she had chosen,
- 16:07Speaker 2: they would not be soggy by lunchtime. So Asha said
- 16:09Speaker 2: she specifically chose Nutella and honey and also Vegemite and
- 16:13Speaker 2: cheese because they're not, it's not like you're putting a
- 16:15Speaker 2: salad sandwich in the freezer that's going to get gross.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Really good point or a tuna sandwich.
- 16:21Speaker 2: A lot of members in our Facebook group who are
- 16:23Speaker 2: mums were saying that this is something that they do
- 16:26Speaker 2: all of the time. And because when I first saw this,
- 16:29Speaker 2: I thought, well, how long does it take to make
- 16:31Speaker 2: a sandwich in the morning?
- 16:32Speaker 1: Do you really need to freeze an Nutella sandwich?
- 16:35Speaker 2: However, I'm not a mum.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Disclaimer.
- 16:37Speaker 2: So when I have children and I'm making the kids lunches,
- 16:41Speaker 2: who knows, I might be fucking freezing everything.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I might be so over it.
- 16:45Speaker 2: It is actually so refreshing to see a mum sharing
- 16:49Speaker 2: a realistic lunchbox because as someone who's not even a
- 16:53Speaker 2: parent myself, I get enraged seeing these influencers sharing these fancy,
- 16:59Speaker 2: is it called a bento.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Box or whatever it's called? Yeah, we were talking about
- 17:01Speaker 1: that the other week.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And it's like, oh, look at these different apartments and
- 17:04Speaker 2: everything's homemade. everything's made by scratch and it's meeting all
- 17:08Speaker 2: of my child's nutritional needs. And it's like, I'm sorry,
- 17:11Speaker 2: but when you've got a life, a job, you're looking
- 17:13Speaker 2: after a busy household, probably most of the time because
- 17:16Speaker 2: your husband's not helping. When do you have the time
- 17:19Speaker 2: to be coming up with these extravagant lunch boxes? And
- 17:22Speaker 2: I think a lot of mums are really loving Aisha's
- 17:26Speaker 2: content because it's relatable.
- 17:28Speaker 1: They're getting good tips.
- 17:29Speaker 2: On it and it's budget friendly because Creating one of
- 17:32Speaker 2: those big bento boxes would be so expensive. Look, I
- 17:35Speaker 2: like her content. I had never heard of her before
- 17:37Speaker 2: this sandwich debate. I went and checked out her content.
- 17:39Speaker 2: She's a Hilary Duff fan, so she's high up there.
- 17:43Speaker 1: My only thing is, I'm going to be real, I
- 17:45Speaker 1: hate the taste of frozen bread. I just don't know
- 17:48Speaker 1: what it is. It just has a weird aftertaste to it.
- 17:51Speaker 2: However, these kids are being given Nutella sandwiches. So if
- 17:55Speaker 2: I was a child, I think I could put up
- 17:57Speaker 2: with that taste in order to get a Nutella sandwich
- 18:00Speaker 2: at lunch. Yeah, frozen sandwiches just remind me of aeroplane
- 18:04Speaker 2: food or, I mean, even they seem to serve up
- 18:07Speaker 2: very cold sandwiches.
- 18:08Speaker 1: In nursing homes.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I don't think a sandwich should ever be in the fridge.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Do you know what the worst thing was?
- 18:14Speaker 2: Remember when we were all at school and, of course,
- 18:16Speaker 2: no one had the fancy Stanley cups. You all had
- 18:19Speaker 2: an ice drink bottle and it had a tea towel
- 18:22Speaker 2: around it with a rubber band and often that would
- 18:25Speaker 2: sit on top of your lunchbox.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And our mum would always pack us.
- 18:29Speaker 2: It was like a bread roll for lunch, plain, because
- 18:31Speaker 2: I think we'd complain about having soggy sandwiches if there
- 18:34Speaker 2: was salad.
- 18:35Speaker 1: We'd have an apple for recess.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But every time it would get to lunch, because your
- 18:40Speaker 2: drink bottle had been sitting on it, it would inadvertently
- 18:43Speaker 2: get soggy. And the worst thing is you're there trying
- 18:45Speaker 2: to stomach this bread roll and there would be kids
- 18:48Speaker 2: chowing down on fucking Dunkaroos, Yogos, roll-ups.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Do you remember? I won't name names, but there was
- 18:55Speaker 1: this one girl. who her mother, if they.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Had Instagram like 20 years ago, oh, probably longer than that,
- 19:03Speaker 2: 25 years ago, she would have been the one with
- 19:05Speaker 2: the perfect lunchbox. I mean, I don't think it was
- 19:07Speaker 2: nutritional at all, but she literally had marble cake every day.
- 19:11Speaker 2: She'd have Chocolate biscuits. She'd get slammed if she was
- 19:14Speaker 2: on TikTok. Everyone would abuse her for serving her children that.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Well, they would, but I.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Remember she had the most envied lunchbox out of anyone.
- 19:21Speaker 2: One of our friends used to bring in a whole
- 19:24Speaker 2: wheel of brie or camembert.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Cheese and eat the whole thing at lunchtime. That's a
- 19:30Speaker 1: great lunchbox snack.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Do you remember, this is so random, but one of
- 19:34Speaker 2: the news stations came down to our school when we
- 19:36Speaker 2: were in reception because they were doing a story about
- 19:39Speaker 2: junk food. Yes, I was in that news report.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so our mum's a dental therapist.
- 19:43Speaker 2: And as I said, she would only pack like fucking
- 19:46Speaker 2: apple and a bread roll. Anyway, so the cameraman's there
- 19:49Speaker 2: filming at lunchtime and he pans to Sophie and in
- 19:53Speaker 2: this shop that was aired everywhere was Sophie opening one
- 19:57Speaker 2: of our friend's very sugary muesli bars. And you had
- 20:00Speaker 2: a lot of explaining to do when you got home
- 20:02Speaker 2: to our mom. We were not allowed to have muesli bars.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And I was having to explain to mom that I
- 20:07Speaker 2: was merely helping my friend open.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Up for her.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Do you remember Ghost Drops? Sorry, this is getting really nostalgic. Yes,
- 20:13Speaker 2: because they were the best. There was a girl at
- 20:14Speaker 2: school and it was so terrible because I don't think
- 20:16Speaker 2: she had many friends, but she would try and buy
- 20:19Speaker 2: friends with these Ghost Drops.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Sorry, I shouldn't laugh.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Well, actually, recently we found out that one of our
- 20:25Speaker 2: really good friends, our best friend.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Well, yes.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I hope she doesn't mind us telling the story, but
- 20:31Speaker 2: we found out that she got a lunch order every
- 20:35Speaker 2: day at school. She was living every child's dream and
- 20:39Speaker 2: her mum is American. So she pointed out, well, that's
- 20:42Speaker 2: just normal for my mum because in American schools, everyone
- 20:45Speaker 2: goes to school and gets lunch. But for us, we
- 20:48Speaker 2: got a lunch order.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Like every term.
- 20:50Speaker 2: It was every term and we would decorate the paper bag.
- 20:54Speaker 1: We were that excited. We'd draw cartoons on it.
- 20:57Speaker 2: We'd say thank you to the ladies working in the canteen.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I want to know in our Facebook community, how frequent
- 21:03Speaker 2: your lunch orders were, and did every school around the
- 21:07Speaker 2: country have pizza rounders?
- 21:11Speaker 3: What else?
- 21:11Speaker 1: Wait, they served up.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I remember there were wieners. Like I used to be
- 21:14Speaker 2: so embarrassed. I worked in the canteen and people would
- 21:16Speaker 2: be like, can I have a wiener, please?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Would there be like fruit bowls?
- 21:19Speaker 2: Slush puppies.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 2: What else?
- 21:22Speaker 3: What else?
- 21:23Speaker 2: Well, they'd have macaroni and cheese cups for lunch orders.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I remember they would have the salads and the teachers
- 21:28Speaker 2: would always get it. They'd have like a boiled egg.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I would order the salads because I wanted to be
- 21:32Speaker 2: like the teachers. And they'd just have like a pizza
- 21:36Speaker 2: that was just in a box.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I don't know what that was called. With so much
- 21:38Speaker 1: pineapple on it.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I used to love pizza rounders at school. And I
- 21:42Speaker 2: went on a mission last year to see if I
- 21:44Speaker 2: could find the original ones they'd serve at the canteen.
- 21:48Speaker 2: They do still exist, but you literally have to do
- 21:50Speaker 2: a bulk order of around 50 of them to get
- 21:53Speaker 2: your hands on them. I've seen them at my local
- 21:55Speaker 2: Coles and Woolies. They look pretty similar. They don't have
- 21:58Speaker 2: vegetarian versions though, which is what I want. Well, that
- 22:01Speaker 2: was a debate we just had off microphone.
- 22:03Speaker 1: It got quite fiery. I think they did have vegetarian pizza. No,
- 22:07Speaker 1: they didn't. I think the shit.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Ones at the store have ham in it, which is
- 22:11Speaker 2: why I've never bought them. Can someone settle this for us?
- 22:14Speaker 2: Put in our Facebook community if they had some sort
- 22:17Speaker 2: of ham or bacon in them. See, Sophie, this is
- 22:19Speaker 2: a picture of ones with ham.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yes, I understand. I used to order them at the
- 22:23Speaker 1: canteen and they had ham in them. Yeah, but we
- 22:24Speaker 1: used to hate ham growing up.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And we pick it out. Let's get into our highs
- 22:29Speaker 2: and lows of the week. And I want to start
- 22:31Speaker 2: with my low because it's pretty funny. So this last
- 22:35Speaker 2: weekend I had my family and also Dale's family over
- 22:39Speaker 2: for an afternoon tea. And Dale's little nephew came over
- 22:44Speaker 2: and he's around 12. And the poor thing, he had
- 22:46Speaker 2: no one to play with during this afternoon tea because
- 22:49Speaker 2: everyone was adults. So he was kind of just roaming
- 22:52Speaker 2: around the house trying to entertain himself. I was outside
- 22:55Speaker 2: chatting to all the other adults and Dale's nephew came
- 22:59Speaker 2: running out and he goes in front of everyone, Amy,
- 23:02Speaker 2: why do you own a penguin shaped dildo? And I
- 23:07Speaker 2: just like, the conversation stopped.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Everyone's heads just looked at me. I said, what are
- 23:12Speaker 1: you talking about?
- 23:13Speaker 2: He's like, You have a penguin shaped dildo inside. Now,
- 23:16Speaker 2: what he was actually referring to is the porcelain penises
- 23:20Speaker 2: that we painted at Kate's hen's party, which was almost
- 23:23Speaker 2: two years ago. And I told you that this does
- 23:26Speaker 2: not belong in your kitchen. So these are, if you're
- 23:29Speaker 2: in Adelaide, we've got the plaster fun house. And Sophie
- 23:31Speaker 2: and I collected these plaster penises for everyone to paint.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And I turned mine into a penguin at Kate's hen's party.
- 23:39Speaker 2: And it has been sitting on my kitchen bench. I
- 23:41Speaker 2: actually had a little hat on it, like a little
- 23:43Speaker 2: Mexican hat. You couldn't even really tell what it was. Anyway,
- 23:47Speaker 2: so we quickly cotton on to what he's talking about.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And our mum, who was at the hen's party, goes, oh,
- 23:53Speaker 1: it's fine, sweetheart. We all have them.
- 23:56Speaker 2: And everyone just looks at her like, what on earth?
- 23:58Speaker 1: It's fine, sweetie.
- 23:59Speaker 2: We all have large dildos in our home. It's quite
- 24:02Speaker 2: funny because our mum also has her porcelain penis still
- 24:05Speaker 2: on display in her kitchen, which She's quite conservative. I
- 24:09Speaker 2: thought she would have gotten rid of that. Mine was
- 24:11Speaker 2: living in my garage. That was until I moved house
- 24:14Speaker 2: when my in-laws spotted it and it got a bit awkward.
- 24:17Speaker 2: I think that they should have been disposed of straight
- 24:19Speaker 2: after the hen's party.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I think I'm going to have to share.
- 24:22Speaker 2: A photo of this penis online because it looks really cute.
- 24:26Speaker 2: That's why I haven't thrown it out. It's really quite funny.
- 24:29Speaker 2: The sweetest thing was one of Dale's friends later in
- 24:32Speaker 2: the evening, his son came around and he's five. And
- 24:36Speaker 2: we were telling Dale's friend about the incident. Anyway, he's like,
- 24:40Speaker 2: bring it out and show Arlo and see what he says. Anyway,
- 24:42Speaker 2: we showed him and go, what do you think this is?
- 24:44Speaker 1: And he goes, it's a penguin. That was very wholesome.
- 24:47Speaker 1: So cute. Now, what's your high of the week?
- 24:50Speaker 2: My high of the week is probably a work one
- 24:52Speaker 2: because we just attended one of our clients events and
- 24:56Speaker 2: it was a banana split event. What would you call it? Well,
- 25:00Speaker 2: they were attempting to beat the record in South Australia
- 25:03Speaker 2: of the most banana splits given away. So they gave
- 25:07Speaker 2: away over a thousand banana splits, which is quite incredible
- 25:11Speaker 2: for banana day. So I was filming this and my
- 25:13Speaker 2: favorite part of the day was everyone was literally dressed
- 25:16Speaker 2: up in bright yellow and then seeing all of the
- 25:19Speaker 2: confused shoppers who had also worn yellow trying to work
- 25:23Speaker 2: out what was going on. Also seeing you chow down
- 25:26Speaker 2: on a banana split at around 10.30am was pretty entertaining.
- 25:29Speaker 1: It went down quite nicely. Isn't that such an old
- 25:32Speaker 1: person dessert?
- 25:33Speaker 2: Like the majority of the people lining up for these
- 25:35Speaker 2: banana splits were elderly men. Elderly? They were like between 50s,
- 25:39Speaker 2: like 50 plus.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I'd say 50 to 70.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well you could tell who the almond mums were
- 25:44Speaker 2: because there were all these older women that.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Were like, no, no, no, I'm not having any of that.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Or they'd say, oh, I'm just grabbing this for my husband.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Now my high of the week is that it's event season.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I feel like it's actually getting exciting. I feel like
- 25:56Speaker 2: there's so many things coming up. And one of the
- 25:58Speaker 2: things I'm looking forward to most is your Halloween party, Amy.
- 26:01Speaker 2: We're having it next Friday. You say Halloween party. I've
- 26:04Speaker 2: literally only invited a handful of people. Well, but I
- 26:07Speaker 2: still think that's a party when you're in your thirties.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And I have found.
- 26:11Speaker 2: The perfect pop culture costume.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So You say perfect pop culture. Everyone is coming. I
- 26:18Speaker 1: don't want to ruin it.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Taylor Swift. Everyone is coming. It's Taylor Swift, but it's
- 26:22Speaker 2: Taylor and Travis at Wimbledon. It's basically Sophie rocking up
- 26:26Speaker 2: in a nice dress and then everyone being like, who
- 26:28Speaker 2: is she meant to be?
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's a real token effort.
- 26:31Speaker 4: I think.
- 26:31Speaker 1: It's not a token effort.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I have gone and sourced the red dress.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I've got the sunglasses. I've got the jewelry.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I'm thinking of buying a clip in fringe.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And then it's really Brandon.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Who is going to add to my costume because he
- 26:43Speaker 2: is going to be wearing that iconic Gucci outfit that
- 26:47Speaker 2: Travis wore with the bucket hat. Has he even got
- 26:50Speaker 2: that yet? Well, we are currently going through his wardrobe
- 26:53Speaker 2: and we're going to be adjusting and adding a few
- 26:56Speaker 2: of the red and green stripes.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I'm going to make him a special bucket hat.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I think it's going to look really good. I'm looking
- 27:01Speaker 2: forward to it and I'm really excited because a few
- 27:03Speaker 2: of our friends have surprise outfits.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'm one of those people.
- 27:07Speaker 2: You're one of those people and it sounds like the
- 27:10Speaker 2: outfits are going to be quite rogue. Yeah, the people
- 27:12Speaker 2: who have the surprise outfits– They're going for the laughs. Well,
- 27:16Speaker 2: I certainly am.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 2: My low of the week is that I can no
- 27:21Speaker 2: longer trust food that is not in a package.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And I know that that is not environmentally friendly.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I was at the supermarket the other night and I
- 27:29Speaker 2: witnessed a child pick up a bunch of broccolini, put
- 27:33Speaker 2: it in their mouth, suck on it, and then proceed
- 27:36Speaker 2: to put it back in the box. And they missed
- 27:41Speaker 2: because they were so short and it ended up dropping
- 27:43Speaker 2: on the ground. And the person's parent came over and
- 27:48Speaker 2: proceeded to pick it off the ground and put it
- 27:51Speaker 2: back in the box where people were purchasing from.
- 27:54Speaker 1: And I was horrified.
- 27:57Speaker 2: And my partner pointed out to me, he said, why
- 28:01Speaker 2: didn't you.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Remove it from the box so that no one else
- 28:04Speaker 1: ended up buying it? And that was a very good point.
- 28:07Speaker 2: But I was almost frozen in disbelief at, I kept,
- 28:11Speaker 2: all I could think.
- 28:12Speaker 1: About was, oh my God, What have I eaten from
- 28:16Speaker 1: here in.
- 28:16Speaker 2: The past that kids have put their hands and possibly
- 28:19Speaker 2: mouths all over?
- 28:21Speaker 1: So this is a warning to wash your vegetables.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Yes, I think that is important to what I get
- 28:26Speaker 2: confused because I keep seeing these TikToks pop up and
- 28:28Speaker 2: it's people washing berries.
- 28:30Speaker 1: They're going through.
- 28:30Speaker 2: All this stuff like they're putting in all these different
- 28:33Speaker 2: cleaning products or just like get rid of all of
- 28:35Speaker 2: the nasty chemicals that are sprayed on them yeah so
- 28:38Speaker 2: i do have an update for you and this could
- 28:40Speaker 2: add to your high of the week i have actually
- 28:42Speaker 2: found the ingredients list for pizza rounders and why would
- 28:45Speaker 2: this be my high because it does say that they
- 28:48Speaker 2: contain pork doesn't say what percentage told you all right
- 28:52Speaker 2: anyway so just to save people from writing in but
- 28:55Speaker 2: you are wrong amy do you know what i'm actually
- 28:57Speaker 2: gonna make for my tiktok this is a subtle plug
- 29:00Speaker 2: to go and follow my tiktok which has like 97
- 29:01Speaker 2: followers I'm going to make my own pizza rounders and
- 29:06Speaker 2: not have any meat in them. So for people who
- 29:08Speaker 2: don't actually know, Sophie.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And I, we grew up vegetarian.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I do eat a bit of chicken now, but I'm
- 29:13Speaker 2: mainly veg.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Stop fucking flogging your TikTok, Amy.
- 29:17Speaker 2: At Amy Torber on TikTok. That is all we have
