- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, from the Star Rental Sports Desk, your 93.3 KJR
- 0:04Speaker 1: FM Sports Headlines.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Happy Tuesday. Headlines are brought to you by Frostbrew. Of course,
- 0:10Speaker 3: I like the cold as the Rockies. Seahawks plan is
- 0:13Speaker 3: that quarterback Sam Darnold is going to practice at some
- 0:16Speaker 3: capacity on Wednesday, four days before they play the winless
- 0:19Speaker 3: commanders outside Washington, D.C., That will be two weeks to
- 0:22Speaker 3: the day after Darnold strained his glute in the NFL
- 0:25Speaker 3: kickoff game. Coach Mike McDonald says coaches are working on
- 0:28Speaker 3: how to split the first team reps between Darnold and Locke.
- 0:30Speaker 3: We're going to talk about this because you don't want
- 0:33Speaker 3: to give Darnold all of them just in case he
- 0:34Speaker 3: doesn't respond well to the practicing and then Locke has
- 0:37Speaker 3: to play anyway. Rams got back on track last night
- 0:40Speaker 3: after the Australia debacle. They smashed the Giants 28-6. New
- 0:45Speaker 3: York lost quarterback Jackson Dart early in the game to
- 0:47Speaker 3: a knee injury. Jameis Winston came in and all of
- 0:50Speaker 3: us got to appreciate Drew Locke as the backup quarterback
- 0:53Speaker 3: here instead.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Of Jameis Winston.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I mean, the Seahawks, it's an underrated role that they
- 0:59Speaker 4: play when it comes to having really good backup quarterbacks.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Until you need them.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Of course, the Giants used to have Drew Locke and
- 1:06Speaker 3: they chose Jameis Winston instead with a new regime trying
- 1:08Speaker 3: to keep Brian Babel employed and that didn't work. Sounds
- 1:12Speaker 3: like it's an MCL strain for Dart, so he and
- 1:17Speaker 3: the Giants avoid a season-ending injury. Pukunuku didn't play for
- 1:19Speaker 3: the Rams last night, and he may not play in
- 1:21Speaker 3: Week 3 for L.A. Mariners versus Trashcans tonight to begin
- 1:25Speaker 3: a three-game series at the yard in Soto. M's are
- 1:28Speaker 3: five games out, six games left, so they can't lose,
- 1:30Speaker 3: and Houston can't win, and Texas can't win either.
- 1:33Speaker 2: That's basically what has to happen for the next six days.
- 1:36Speaker 5: I mean, there's still math to be mathed.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, there is.
- 1:38Speaker 6: Can you imagine if they were just a 500 team
- 1:43Speaker 6: instead of tanking it and just losing to the A's
- 1:45Speaker 6: and Angels.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And so forth, where they would be right now?
- 1:48Speaker 4: I mean, a month ago we were talking about, well,
- 1:50Speaker 4: this is the time. This is the point of the
- 1:53Speaker 4: season that everything is okay.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Final homestand of the season. The season ends Sunday, the
- 1:57Speaker 3: regular season, and probably the season for the Mariners. Yankees
- 2:00Speaker 3: say Aaron Judge isn't going to play in the wild
- 2:02Speaker 3: card series to begin the playoffs. He's on the injured list.
- 2:05Speaker 3: With a calf injury, of course, he missed most of
- 2:07Speaker 3: the season injured for New York. It would be nice
- 2:10Speaker 3: to be talking about playoff baseball and injures and playoff rosters.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Do you remember?
- 2:16Speaker 2: That happened here, didn't it?
- 2:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I was there.
- 2:19Speaker 4: I came home smelling like champagne and cigars a couple
- 2:22Speaker 4: of different times.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And it was really awesome.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Now on with the Tuesday show.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Greg Bell back in the LA-based studios in Seattle, home
- 2:31Speaker 3: from Phoenix from yesterday. And I'm now with Jessamyn McIntyre
- 2:35Speaker 3: instead of staring into a blank space.
- 2:38Speaker 5: I was doing the same. It was a void without you, Greg.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It's weird. It's weird to have a two-hour conversation with
- 2:43Speaker 2: someone you don't see.
- 2:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it is. And we do. We are the most remote.
- 2:48Speaker 5: We are everywhere on the station.
- 2:50Speaker 4: So it happens quite often where people are back here
- 2:54Speaker 4: in the studio running things on our end.
- 2:56Speaker 5: And our hosts, our lovely talent is elsewhere.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Talent. I love that term, talent. It's such a relative term.
- 3:05Speaker 4: I remember my mom did an interview when she was
- 3:08Speaker 4: working for New York State Parks. And she, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 4: did an interview for the local news. They, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 4: they wanted to have her on. And they're like, okay,
- 3:16Speaker 4: the talent is going to... She's like, that talent?
- 3:19Speaker 5: Just tell me a name.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Exactly. The host?
- 3:23Speaker 5: Yes, yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Or, you know, Melissa is going to say hi to
- 3:27Speaker 4: you before we bring you.
- 3:29Speaker 5: On something other than the talent. People call me that,
- 3:33Speaker 5: and I'm like, nah.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It's also an animate-sounding term, isn't it? An animate. It's
- 3:39Speaker 2: just talented. It's a person.
- 3:41Speaker 5: It's like a thing. It's got a name.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yes. How was your evening?
- 3:45Speaker 5: Mine was great.
- 3:46Speaker 4: We went to Mystery Movie Monday and it was a lovely,
- 3:50Speaker 4: this isn't a spoiler alert, but it was the heart
- 3:53Speaker 4: of the beast ended up being the movie. Sometimes you
- 3:56Speaker 4: get something you'll never see in theaters and sometimes you
- 4:00Speaker 4: get something that you've seen a trailer for.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Explain mystery. You and Mike don't know? I mean, Mike
- 4:06Speaker 3: knows and you don't?
- 4:07Speaker 5: No, you never know. It's over at, it's a regal thing.
- 4:10Speaker 5: I think they do it across the country.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Oh, I see. You just show up at the theater.
- 4:13Speaker 4: However, we go to the Cine Bar over in Mount
- 4:17Speaker 4: Lake Terrace.
- 4:19Speaker 5: And we do it every once in a while. And
- 4:21Speaker 5: I was a.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Little tired yesterday. And he goes, mystery movie Monday?
- 4:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 5: So I said, yes. And it was a movie I
- 4:29Speaker 5: wanted to see. But as soon as it, you don't know.
- 4:32Speaker 5: And it's super cheap.
- 4:34Speaker 4: You know, it's like five bucks, um, because you don't
- 4:37Speaker 4: know what you're going to get. So it's a gamble,
- 4:39Speaker 4: but they, they do like food and drinks and stuff
- 4:42Speaker 4: in there and you can just hang out.
- 4:45Speaker 5: And I was so excited. As soon as I saw
- 4:47Speaker 5: the opening scene, I was like, Oh, this is the
- 4:50Speaker 5: heart of the beast. This is the heart of the beast.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I've never heard of that. That's cool.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Brad Pitt and a dog.
- 4:55Speaker 2: No, not the movie.
- 4:56Speaker 3: The concept of just showing up blindly at a theater,
- 4:58Speaker 3: not knowing.
- 4:59Speaker 2: What the film is.
- 4:59Speaker 5: We didn't either. We found out by going there.
- 5:03Speaker 4: And one of the people working there told us, hey,
- 5:06Speaker 4: have you heard of Mystery Movie Monday?
- 5:08Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 5:09Speaker 4: They don't do it every Monday, but they started ramping
- 5:11Speaker 4: back up again. Because in the summers, I guess a
- 5:14Speaker 4: lot of people go to movies.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Those of you on the Tacoma Dodge text line 49451
- 5:18Speaker 3: may relate to this.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you how my evening was.
- 5:20Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:22Speaker 5: I just really gave the sunny side of the street
- 5:24Speaker 5: over here.
- 5:25Speaker 2: So I landed from Phoenix at about 730.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And just to let you know, I won't try to
- 5:32Speaker 3: do too much information, but I got attacked or chewed up.
- 5:38Speaker 2: You got eaten. By a sea.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Urchin while I was surfing with our daughter in the
- 5:43Speaker 3: north shore of Hawaii. And I went to an urgent
- 5:45Speaker 3: care clinic in Oahu. And they told me, well, we
- 5:47Speaker 3: don't pull these out. We don't do anything with them.
- 5:48Speaker 3: We give you antibiotics. And 10 days later, it goes away.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Okay. So I was coming.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I've been wearing sandals and flip-flops since because it hurts
- 6:00Speaker 3: to put a foot on it. I mean, I had
- 6:02Speaker 3: like 25 needles sticking out of my foot.
- 6:04Speaker 5: They wouldn't take it out?
- 6:06Speaker 3: I took out about 10 of them right in the water.
- 6:09Speaker 3: but the ones that were remaining, they were kind of embedded,
- 6:12Speaker 3: and they said it's too much trouble and possible infection
- 6:14Speaker 3: to go in and get them, so we don't do it.
- 6:15Speaker 2: We just let you roll. Okay.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And for eight days, it was fine. And then I
- 6:20Speaker 3: wore dress shoes to the game on Sunday.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Which you do, yes.
- 6:25Speaker 3: And not only that, the trend in NFL stadiums is
- 6:28Speaker 3: when you get Uber rides to NFL stadiums, you are
- 6:31Speaker 3: a country mile from where you have to go into
- 6:33Speaker 3: the media gate.
- 6:34Speaker 2: And this is first world problems I know. I'm not
- 6:36Speaker 2: paying for my ticket. I'm not complaining.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I love my job. We're going to have a talk
- 6:40Speaker 3: in a couple weeks about how much I love my job.
- 6:43Speaker 3: We'll talk about that. There's a whole other sidebar to that.
- 6:45Speaker 3: But suffice to say, it was 100 degrees in Glendale
- 6:50Speaker 3: on Sunday. And I'm walking in slacks and socks and
- 6:54Speaker 3: dress shoes. For the first time I've worn dress shoes
- 6:56Speaker 3: since I got attacked by a sea urchin.
- 6:58Speaker 5: With the spine still in it?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, with the spine still in it.
- 7:02Speaker 3: And I came back from the– well, after the game,
- 7:05Speaker 3: I could barely walk. And I got back to the
- 7:07Speaker 3: hotel Sunday night. And I took off my socks, and
- 7:10Speaker 3: my foot was bright red and swollen.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And it's infected. And so I was barely able to
- 7:17Speaker 2: walk Sunday night. Monday, my wife— And you were still
- 7:22Speaker 2: in Phoenix.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I was in Phoenix yesterday, and my wife says, you
- 7:24Speaker 3: need to go to the urgent care emergency room. I said, well,
- 7:26Speaker 3: I'm going to do that at home if I need to. Well,
- 7:29Speaker 3: those of you on the text line know, if you've
- 7:30Speaker 3: been married 30 years or have a significant other for
- 7:33Speaker 3: 30 years, you kind of end up— The spouse ends
- 7:38Speaker 3: up strong-arming the other spouse often about things that they
- 7:41Speaker 3: need to do.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Have done.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And so I got home.
- 7:45Speaker 3: My wife had dinner that she had picked up from
- 7:49Speaker 3: Met Market or wherever. It wasn't her way home from work.
- 7:51Speaker 3: And then she said, we're going to the hospital. She
- 7:53Speaker 3: saw my foot and said.
- 7:54Speaker 2: We're going.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Well, she works in the medical field.
- 7:56Speaker 2: She does. She works at a hospital.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So we went to UW Medical Center, and I was
- 8:00Speaker 3: there until 2.30 in the morning. And, yeah, I have
- 8:05Speaker 3: an infected foot and a podiatrist appointment and on we go.
- 8:09Speaker 3: They may have to go in there.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Greg might dip at some point. Yes.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So that's where I'm at. But yeah, I was thinking, man,
- 8:17Speaker 3: what a nice night this is. Get off a plane
- 8:19Speaker 3: and go straight to the emergency room for five hours.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I mean, the blasted tears. And I always found them fascinating,
- 8:28Speaker 4: but I do keep my distance.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Tell me if you're on the text line 49451, if
- 8:31Speaker 3: you've been If you've gotten a sea urchin in your foot.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Did you step on it?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Did you tweezer it out?
- 8:38Speaker 3: Did you just roll and it was fine? Because for
- 8:40Speaker 3: eight days, mine was fine. And now here on day
- 8:42Speaker 3: nine and ten, it's unfine.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Did I what?
- 8:45Speaker 5: Did you step on it?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Well, no. What happened was.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Because you said you got attacked. And I don't think
- 8:50Speaker 5: they're really like shark-like.
- 8:51Speaker 2: We were waiting for the surf lesson to begin.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And he wasn't there yet. And so my daughter and
- 8:58Speaker 3: I went out and were snorkeling in the coral. In
- 9:01Speaker 3: the shallow part. And my snorkel tube got filled with
- 9:05Speaker 3: salt water.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And the other part of this calamity is my daughter's
- 9:09Speaker 3: flippers with her snorkeling kit, the clip on my flipper
- 9:14Speaker 3: was broken, so I didn't have the flippers on. So
- 9:18Speaker 3: those of you that snorkel a little bit know if
- 9:20Speaker 3: you have flippers on, you.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Stay horizontal with the water.
- 9:22Speaker 7: Yes.
- 9:22Speaker 3: But without the flippers, as soon as I saw that
- 9:25Speaker 3: my tube was full of water, I lifted up and
- 9:28Speaker 3: I was draining the tube, and then my body— Went
- 9:32Speaker 3: down so that my feet went down under the water.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Because I didn't have flippers on.
- 9:35Speaker 5: So it was touching the coral.
- 9:36Speaker 3: And then I scraped with the top of my foot
- 9:39Speaker 3: and the bottom of my foot, scraped that coral.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And man, it must have been the largest sea urchin
- 9:44Speaker 2: in the history of the North Shore of Oahu.
- 9:46Speaker 5: It was an angry one, I'll tell you that.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Man, it went to work. I mean, see, it was
- 9:49Speaker 2: like 25 needles. It was like a pincushion. That's crazy.
- 9:53Speaker 6: I left my foot up out of the water and
- 9:55Speaker 6: I just started pulling out black needles. So yes, if
- 9:58Speaker 6: you're watching on the YouTube channel, is still my ER
- 10:00Speaker 6: bracelet from I left at 3 in the morning because
- 10:03Speaker 6: I have to go back to podiatry today.
- 10:05Speaker 5: Don't put that off, too. There's a lot of personal
- 10:07Speaker 5: information on those. Don't put it up, too.
- 10:09Speaker 2: But I have to go back to UW podiatry today,
- 10:10Speaker 2: at least I'm hoping to.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And I thought I might need this in case they
- 10:13Speaker 3: have some other procedures in mind for me.
- 10:15Speaker 2: So that's my night.
- 10:16Speaker 4: I think that's a good idea, and we have a
- 10:19Speaker 4: lot to get to today anyway.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Oh, you don't want to talk about this anymore.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I'm just saying that in Sports Talk Radio.
- 10:26Speaker 3: That was Jessamyn's way of saying, okay, Greg, we're done
- 10:29Speaker 3: talking about this. On the show today, the latest on
- 10:32Speaker 3: Sam Darnold and Zach Charbonnet. Zach Charbonnet is eligible to
- 10:36Speaker 3: practice this week but not play for another couple weeks
- 10:39Speaker 3: on the physically unable to perform. You're going to hear
- 10:41Speaker 3: from Mike McDonald talk about that.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You're also going to hear.
- 10:45Speaker 3: about Nick Emanwuri's situation coming out of playing nine snaps
- 10:49Speaker 3: in Arizona.
- 10:50Speaker 2: It was his season debut.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Mike McDonald said he could have played more, but the
- 10:54Speaker 3: plan was not to extend him very much and that
- 10:57Speaker 3: they got exactly what they hoped to get out of
- 10:59Speaker 3: those nine snaps, six of them that he was.
- 11:02Speaker 2: On the line of scrimmage.
- 11:04Speaker 3: When I talked to Emanwuri in the locker room Sunday,
- 11:05Speaker 3: he said, I'm playing every snap the rest of the season.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I'm back.
- 11:08Speaker 5: I mean, he's a baller.
- 11:10Speaker 8: Sure.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I don't know that they'll do that in Washington on Sunday.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Speaking of Washington on Sunday.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Oh, excuse me.
- 11:17Speaker 3: And then 11 o'clock, we're going to talk to Jory Epstein,
- 11:20Speaker 3: our weekly visit with the senior reporter for Yahoo. And
- 11:22Speaker 3: she's sponsored now. She's back by Zeke's Pizza stepping up.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And Zeke's Pizza.
- 11:30Speaker 7: Sure.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I don't know that they'll.
- 11:31Speaker 3: So Zeke's Pizza will sponsor Jory Epstein's weekly visits with
- 11:35Speaker 3: us to go around the NFL Tuesdays at 11 o'clock.
- 11:38Speaker 2: And we'll do that again today. 1130. Read back your text.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Your talkbacks.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It's coming to text line 49451. 11.35, Factor Fiction. You're
- 11:47Speaker 3: chasing $ 1, 000 from Lucky Eagle Casino and Resort. It's Jessamyn's
- 11:51Speaker 3: turn today. She's going to give you an NFL pick
- 11:53Speaker 3: at 11.35.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Yes, I will.
- 11:55Speaker 2: She doesn't do college football.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Because she works in the field. It just feels unethical.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Good for you for having some morals. I appreciate that.
- 12:02Speaker 5: It's just a few of them, Greg.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah. That wasn't counting, but you do have morals.
- 12:09Speaker 3: The first question I have for you on the text line,
- 12:11Speaker 3: besides if you ever had a sea urchin in your
- 12:12Speaker 3: foot and how you dealt with that, because I didn't
- 12:14Speaker 3: think this was going to be a big deal, and
- 12:15Speaker 3: now it has become one.
- 12:17Speaker 2: What would you do with Sam Darnold v. Drew Locke
- 12:21Speaker 2: this week?
- 12:22Speaker 3: I mean, normally it'd be, yeah, Sam Darnold's practicing, he's playing.
- 12:25Speaker 3: But the commanders are 0-2. They're in some disarray because
- 12:31Speaker 3: now they have their backup quarterback playing because Jaden Daniels
- 12:33Speaker 3: is out with.
- 12:34Speaker 2: A dislocated elbow. This should be a game with the Seahawks' defense.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Even though Marcus Marriott has been around the block, and
- 12:40Speaker 2: he's faced the Seahawks many times, this should be a
- 12:43Speaker 2: game the Seahawks win, no matter who plays quarterback.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Should be.
- 12:46Speaker 3: So, do you rest Darnold again and have him even
- 12:49Speaker 3: better for Week 4 against the Chargers and Week 5
- 12:52Speaker 3: against the 49ers and Week 6 against Denver on a
- 12:55Speaker 3: short week on a Thursday night?
- 12:57Speaker 2: Or, as soon as Darnold's back, let's go.
- 13:01Speaker 3: The way McDonald talked yesterday about this, and you're going
- 13:04Speaker 3: to hear from McDonald in the next segment, Makes me
- 13:07Speaker 3: think that they're in between on that right now. And
- 13:09Speaker 3: they're probably in between because they want to see how
- 13:11Speaker 3: Darnold responds to practicing. He hasn't been on the field
- 13:14Speaker 3: with the team since the strained glute on September the 9th,
- 13:16Speaker 3: and we're on September 22nd. So let's see, the thinking
- 13:20Speaker 3: must be, how Darnold reacts to practicing on Wednesday, and
- 13:24Speaker 3: that will determine how many more snaps he would get
- 13:26Speaker 3: on Thursday. Now, if he reacts positively on Wednesday and Thursday, obviously,
- 13:29Speaker 3: you give him more snaps, and then by Friday, you
- 13:31Speaker 3: make a determination that perhaps he is going to start
- 13:34Speaker 3: And then he'll get the preponderance, another preponderance, I love
- 13:36Speaker 3: to use that word, of Snaps on Friday.
- 13:39Speaker 5: That was so close and nerdy.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I know. I thought you were reaching for it.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Preponderance counts.
- 13:46Speaker 4: It's mostly due to the amount of syllables, yes.
- 13:51Speaker 5: As you would say, syllables.
- 13:54Speaker 2: When the accent's on the wrong one.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Yes. Exactly.
- 13:57Speaker 2: 49451, would you start Drew Locke and say, Sam Darnold,
- 14:00Speaker 2: take a break? Well, we got this.
- 14:02Speaker 3: And especially, I didn't even mention, I wrote this in
- 14:04Speaker 3: the News Tribune story on my flight home last night.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Not to mention the fact of how well Drew Locke
- 14:10Speaker 3: has played. Drew Locke, as Jessamyn pointed out yesterday to us,
- 14:14Speaker 3: is second in the NFL in passer rating through two games.
- 14:18Speaker 3: He's fourth in completion percentage. It's not like he's just
- 14:21Speaker 3: been handing the ball off and managing games. He's winging it.
- 14:25Speaker 2: And it's working.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Do you keep him in? I'm not saying Wally Pipps, Arnold.
- 14:30Speaker 3: I'm not trying to say that at all.
- 14:31Speaker 5: But to ease Sam back.
- 14:33Speaker 9: Correct.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Do you take another week that you maybe would have
- 14:36Speaker 3: not otherwise done? and ride with the hot hand of
- 14:39Speaker 3: Drew Locke, and your defense is shutting down everybody and
- 14:42Speaker 3: only allowing 17 points through two games.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Do you realize the Seahawks have not allowed a.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Play of 20 or more yards through two games? The
- 14:49Speaker 3: largest gain by the Cardinals on Sunday was nine yards.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Nine yards.
- 14:55Speaker 3: They're the first team since 2016 to not allow 20
- 14:59Speaker 3: or more yards in either of their first two games.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So with your defense playing like that, some of me thinks,
- 15:06Speaker 3: just keep Drew Locke going. They'll win this game with
- 15:09Speaker 3: the way their defense is playing. As long as Locke
- 15:11Speaker 3: continues to not turn the ball over, which we keep
- 15:13Speaker 3: talking about, would be the one thing that could derail
- 15:17Speaker 3: this defense the way it's playing. And then let Sam
- 15:19Speaker 3: Darnold come back with an extra week of rest, and
- 15:22Speaker 3: it would be then total three and a half weeks
- 15:24Speaker 3: before he would have played a second game.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Honestly, Jessamyn, I think that's what I might do. I'd
- 15:30Speaker 2: keep Drew. I would too. And it's not that, again,
- 15:33Speaker 2: it's not that, oh, Drew Locke.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Is now better or we're going to sit Sam Darnold
- 15:37Speaker 3: because Locke's playing so well, we're going to be extra
- 15:40Speaker 3: conservative and cautious and not bring Sam Darnold back to
- 15:43Speaker 3: the commander's game on the road at a 10 a.m.
- 15:46Speaker 3: start and instead bring to Locke back and ride Locke
- 15:50Speaker 3: in your defense. I think that's might what I do,
- 15:52Speaker 3: but of course, he's your franchise quarterback and there's egos
- 15:55Speaker 3: involved and there's leadership involved and what teammates expect and
- 15:59Speaker 3: all that comes into play in decisions like this too.
- 16:01Speaker 2: 49451 on the Coma Dodge text line. What you would do.
- 16:05Speaker 2: What we're going to do next is hear from Mike McDonald.
- 16:08Speaker 2: He talked about Sam Darnold. He talked about Zach Charbonnet yesterday.
- 16:10Speaker 3: He talked about Nicky Maury, how he came out of
- 16:12Speaker 3: the season debut in Arizona. 11 o'clock, Jory Epstein, senior
- 16:17Speaker 3: NFL writer for Yahoo Sports, goes around the league, including
- 16:19Speaker 3: the Giants and the Rams from last night.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Oh, that was interesting. Should we hear from Sean McVay,
- 16:26Speaker 4: by the way?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Sean McVay last night.
- 16:30Speaker 5: I thought it was pretty fun.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yeah, so the Rams look like the Rams, right?
- 16:33Speaker 2: 28-6.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Of course, the Giants probably aren't as good as they
- 16:36Speaker 3: hope to be. They're still restarting with the Harbaugh regime.
- 16:40Speaker 2: But last night after the game, Sean McVay, a.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Little self-deprecating. The rest of the world has been criticizing
- 16:48Speaker 3: him for how they travel to Australia. The boomerang trip
- 16:51Speaker 3: going over about 36 hours before kickoff. This was Sean
- 16:54Speaker 3: McVay last night after the Rams win.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Oops.
- 16:59Speaker 5: That's my bad. I got it.
- 17:02Speaker 7: You know, sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.
- 17:04Speaker 10: And, you know, sometimes you have a dumbass coach that,
- 17:06Speaker 10: you know, makes travel plans that put you in a
- 17:09Speaker 10: bad spot.
- 17:11Speaker 2: There you go.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I do love his candor.
- 17:15Speaker 3: That was his walk-off mic drop, literally. That was how
- 17:18Speaker 3: he ended the press conference, and he pounded the desk
- 17:19Speaker 3: and walked away. Not in anger.
- 17:22Speaker 5: He was self-deprecating.
- 17:24Speaker 2: That's what happens when you win. Coaches tend to do
- 17:28Speaker 2: things like that.
- 17:29Speaker 5: It does help, yes.
- 17:30Speaker 2: When you lose, they don't do stuff like that.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Up next, we hear from Mike McDonald, the Seahawks coach,
- 17:36Speaker 3: about his injury situations and Nick Imanwari, how he came
- 17:40Speaker 3: out of his first game. What's up next for Imanwari
- 17:42Speaker 3: in Washington? You'll hear from the coach next. And then 11.35,
- 17:44Speaker 3: Factor Fiction, your chance to win $ 1, 000 from the Lucky
- 17:48Speaker 3: Eagle Casino and Resort at NFL game to pick today.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Jory Epstein at 11 o'clock. All that's coming up on
- 17:53Speaker 2: 93.3 KJRFM.
- 18:06Speaker 6: Welcome back.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Greg Bell, Justin McIntyre with you live on 93.3 KJR
- 18:18Speaker 3: FM from Elliott Bay in downtown Seattle, which is a
- 18:21Speaker 3: little bit cloudy at the moment. You can barely see
- 18:24Speaker 3: across the bay to Bainbridge.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I can't even... West Seattle today, a little cloudier. Seahawks
- 18:33Speaker 2: and Commanders, 10 a.m. on Sunday.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels is not starting for Washington because he has
- 18:38Speaker 3: a dislocated elbow.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Marcus Mariota is going to start for the Commanders.
- 18:42Speaker 3: We're going to talk to Jory Epstein, a senior NFL
- 18:44Speaker 3: reporter for Yahoo Sports, about that and many other topics
- 18:49Speaker 3: at 11 o'clock on our weekly feature brought to you
- 18:51Speaker 3: by Zeke's Pizza. The Seahawks, meanwhile, have a quarterback, in
- 18:57Speaker 3: how much do they practice Drew Locke and Sam Darnold
- 19:01Speaker 3: this week. Mike McDonald saying yesterday that Darnold will, at
- 19:05Speaker 3: least the plan is, that he will return to practice
- 19:07Speaker 3: in some capacity on Wednesday.
- 19:10Speaker 2: And then the question becomes, well, how many.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Reps do you split between the two quarterbacks? Because, of course,
- 19:16Speaker 3: if Sam Darnold comes back, you're not going to have
- 19:17Speaker 3: him running the scout team. So he's running the first
- 19:19Speaker 3: team offense. But you don't know how Sam Darnold is
- 19:23Speaker 3: going to react and his strained glutes are going to
- 19:25Speaker 3: react and not to doing something on the field for
- 19:27Speaker 3: the first time in two weeks to the day since
- 19:29Speaker 3: the injury.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So you have to have Locke at least on Wednesday
- 19:33Speaker 2: for sure.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Running first-team reps to guard yourself on the way, how
- 19:38Speaker 3: it might react, how Darnold's injury might react Thursday after
- 19:41Speaker 3: practicing on Wednesday. And then Thursday you see how it goes,
- 19:44Speaker 3: and perhaps maybe by Friday you make a determination on
- 19:46Speaker 3: which of the quarterbacks is going to start.
- 19:48Speaker 9: 4-9-4.
- 19:50Speaker 3: The Tacoma Dodge text line, the first question I asked today,
- 19:54Speaker 3: would you just say.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Ah, take a break? 0-2 commanders with a backup quarterback
- 19:58Speaker 2: in the way our defense and Drew Locke are playing.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Let's just start Locke and roll with that to 3-0
- 20:03Speaker 2: and give Darnold another.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Week off to fully recover and start perhaps week four.
- 20:09Speaker 3: They have the Chargers, who are a mess right now
- 20:12Speaker 3: at 0-2. The Chargers coming in here for Week 4,
- 20:15Speaker 3: and then it's the 49ers, who are 2-0, and Brock
- 20:17Speaker 3: Purdy completing 20 of 22 passes against Miami on San Nicolas.
- 20:22Speaker 2: The Dolphins are awful.
- 20:24Speaker 3: But then have Donald ready to play those games rather
- 20:27Speaker 3: than this game this week. Nobody's going to say that
- 20:30Speaker 3: now on Wednesday. They're going to see how Sam Donald's
- 20:33Speaker 3: injury reacts to having practiced.
- 20:35Speaker 2: That's not the only practice.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Injury-returning situation Situation for a frontline starting player of the Seahawks.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Zach Charbonnet can.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Return to practice this week, even though he remains on
- 20:46Speaker 3: the physically unable to perform list. An NFL rule change
- 20:49Speaker 3: this year allows players on the pup list to come
- 20:53Speaker 3: back after a team's second game to begin practicing. And
- 20:56Speaker 3: his 21-day practice window will open on Wednesday or can
- 21:01Speaker 3: open on Wednesday. It'll open the first day he takes
- 21:03Speaker 3: the field. But the Seahawks are thinking about Wednesday being
- 21:07Speaker 3: Charbonnet's first practice day because Mike McDonald said he wanted
- 21:09Speaker 3: to maximize the ramp-up time and assessing whether he would
- 21:13Speaker 3: be ready to play after the fourth game.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Because that's the PUP rules.
- 21:16Speaker 3: They're still the same in that you cannot play until
- 21:18Speaker 3: after the fourth game. So they want to give him
- 21:20Speaker 3: two weeks of practice before that and then after the
- 21:24Speaker 3: fourth game, which would be leading into Week 5 against
- 21:26Speaker 3: the 49ers. potentially Zach Charbonnet coming back. Mike McDonald talked
- 21:30Speaker 3: about this. He talked about the quarterbacks. Sam Donner returning
- 21:33Speaker 3: to practice and more yesterday. This is some of what
- 21:35Speaker 3: he said.
- 21:35Speaker 11: Do you have any more of a sense past this
- 21:38Speaker 11: morning about Sam and whether you think he might be
- 21:42Speaker 11: able to get out to the practice field on Wednesday?
- 21:46Speaker 7: Right now, the plan is for him to be out
- 21:48Speaker 7: there in some capacity and we'll go from there. How much,
- 21:52Speaker 7: we'll see from here to Wednesday on what that number is,
- 21:57Speaker 7: but Right now, that's the goal.
- 22:01Speaker 11: You had also mentioned this morning about Zach and trying
- 22:03Speaker 11: to figure out his timeline for a possible return. Is
- 22:06Speaker 11: that more targeting when to open the window or when
- 22:10Speaker 11: you guys think he might be to the point of
- 22:12Speaker 11: return to play?
- 22:14Speaker 7: I think they're kind of one and the same. We
- 22:17Speaker 7: want to be as.
- 22:20Speaker 12: Close to accurate.
- 22:23Speaker 7: We want to try to maximize the amount of time
- 22:24Speaker 7: we can practice to give us the opportunity for him
- 22:27Speaker 7: to be ready to go back. You know, not saying
- 22:29Speaker 7: that it'll take, it'll definitely take the most amount of time,
- 22:32Speaker 7: most amount of, well, not that we're going to max
- 22:34Speaker 7: out all the practices, but that's something that we want
- 22:39Speaker 7: to be able to consider, you know, and how much
- 22:40Speaker 7: practice time it's going to take and things like that.
- 22:42Speaker 7: So that's something we're still working through.
- 22:46Speaker 3: That was Mike McDonald yesterday talking about Zach Sharman. It's
- 22:49Speaker 3: a 21 day window from the first day he steps
- 22:51Speaker 3: on the field. So if the Seahawks decide this isn't
- 22:54Speaker 3: the week to, Try Charbonnet and the clock wouldn't start
- 22:57Speaker 3: until next week. But signs are that Charbonnet is going
- 22:59Speaker 3: to give it a go this week in practice to
- 23:02Speaker 3: begin that window and maximize the time before he'd be
- 23:05Speaker 3: able to play for the first time after they've played
- 23:07Speaker 3: four games.
- 23:08Speaker 2: So he has to miss four weeks. Nicky Manwuri.
- 23:10Speaker 5: I was just going to.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Say, I listen to people for a living and I
- 23:14Speaker 4: talk quite a bit. But the one thing that I
- 23:17Speaker 4: noticed is the pregnant pauses in that. And just to
- 23:21Speaker 4: be clear, to make it a little more expeditious for,
- 23:25Speaker 4: that's a nerd alert, yes, but I'm not playing it
- 23:27Speaker 4: on myself. But for the radio, I cut out a
- 23:31Speaker 4: good four second pause from that.
- 23:34Speaker 5: And there were some pregnant pauses.
- 23:36Speaker 4: And I think Mike McDonald is being very careful about
- 23:39Speaker 4: what he says. And if he's saying something too quickly or,
- 23:45Speaker 4: you know, he's just they're being very careful with Zach
- 23:48Speaker 4: Charbonnet is what I get from that.
- 23:51Speaker 3: And Mike McDonald, over the three years now that I've
- 23:53Speaker 3: been covering him daily, has really, really become close.
- 23:57Speaker 2: To the vest on injuries.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Which he should be.
- 24:01Speaker 3: You talk about pregnant. He's more pregnant than his wife,
- 24:03Speaker 3: who is pregnant and due with their second child in December.
- 24:06Speaker 2: When he starts talking about injuries.
- 24:07Speaker 5: I didn't know she was pregnant again.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Congratulations, McDonald's. She is pregnant. They are due to have
- 24:13Speaker 2: a daughter. Their first was a son, correct?
- 24:17Speaker 12: That's right.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Oh, that's perfect.
- 24:18Speaker 3: So Jack is now two-plus years old, and they're going
- 24:21Speaker 3: to have a daughter on the way.
- 24:22Speaker 2: She's due in December.
- 24:23Speaker 12: Really?
- 24:24Speaker 5: That old?
- 24:25Speaker 2: I don't think I'm saying anything out of turn.
- 24:27Speaker 5: No, no, no. It's out there. It's out there. I
- 24:30Speaker 5: thought at the Super Bowl that he was a baby.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah, he was running around. Playing with the confetti and
- 24:36Speaker 2: stuff like a toddler would. Oh, that's a toddler, yeah. Yeah,
- 24:39Speaker 2: he wasn't quite.
- 24:40Speaker 5: As you can tell, Greg, I don't have kids, so
- 24:42Speaker 5: I don't know this business. I'm just very happy for them.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:45Speaker 4: But that was actually really good. I kind of ruined
- 24:48Speaker 4: your soliloquy there.
- 24:50Speaker 5: That's okay.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 3: My soliloquy is, you can ruin them. Nicky Manwari played
- 24:56Speaker 3: nine snaps. It was his season debut, and it was
- 24:58Speaker 3: a surprise to us to cover the team every day
- 25:00Speaker 3: because he had yet to fully practice since June. Of course,
- 25:03Speaker 3: he had the arthroscopic ankle surgery in July. But the
- 25:06Speaker 3: plan was to play him a few snaps, and he did.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Six in the first half, nine in all. Six of
- 25:11Speaker 3: his nine were at the line of scrimmage, some of
- 25:13Speaker 3: them as a defensive end, which I think he just
- 25:16Speaker 3: was screwing around with the league, McDonnell was, to get
- 25:18Speaker 3: filmed of Eamon Ward.
- 25:20Speaker 2: He did that in the Vikings game.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I like the games of the chips.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what that was.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Plus, he didn't want to have him so much in
- 25:26Speaker 3: the open field and testing that ankle and running and
- 25:28Speaker 3: cutting differently.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Just run straight up field as a rusher. from the
- 25:33Speaker 2: line of scrimmage.
- 25:34Speaker 3: So what's next for Imanwari? How did he come out
- 25:36Speaker 3: of the game and what's next? Mike McDonald talked about
- 25:38Speaker 3: that yesterday.
- 25:39Speaker 11: How did Nick Imanwari make it through yesterday?
- 25:43Speaker 7: Really good, really good. We wanted to, I think for
- 25:48Speaker 7: what we wanted to get out of the game, I
- 25:50Speaker 7: think it was probably best case scenario where we could
- 25:52Speaker 7: really ramp into this week and he's got confidence in
- 25:58Speaker 7: what he's able to do and he's also got some
- 26:01Speaker 7: some really good reps stack behind him. And now we
- 26:03Speaker 7: can have clarity going into the week in terms of
- 26:05Speaker 7: game plan, how many reps he can, he can manage.
- 26:07Speaker 3: There's already clarity with Nicky Minwar in his own mind.
- 26:11Speaker 3: When I talked to him in Glendale after the game
- 26:13Speaker 3: on Sunday, he said, Oh, I'm playing. I'm full go.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I'm not missing a snap the rest of the season.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I went along.
- 26:19Speaker 3: He implied, he didn't quite say this, but he implied,
- 26:22Speaker 3: I went along with this governing plan this week and
- 26:25Speaker 3: limiting me and I get it, but.
- 26:27Speaker 2: No, no, no. Now I'm back.
- 26:28Speaker 3: And he didn't, There were a few times. There was
- 26:31Speaker 3: a question on a text line yesterday I didn't get to.
- 26:34Speaker 3: There were a few times he was on the field.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Maybe we did get to it.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I can't remember. I've had a little bit of a
- 26:37Speaker 2: long day.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Maybe you noticed Eamon Worry was on the field at
- 26:42Speaker 3: the start of drives, but then would come off. In fact,
- 26:45Speaker 3: for the very first scrimmage play of the game, he
- 26:47Speaker 3: was on the field during a TV timeout. And then
- 26:50Speaker 3: he came off the field. And McDonald, some of it
- 26:54Speaker 3: was trying to play with the Cardinals a little bit
- 26:56Speaker 3: and say, what sub package are they in? Why is
- 26:58Speaker 3: Eamon Worry on the field? And then take them off
- 27:01Speaker 3: right before the snap. But Imanwari explained that a lot
- 27:03Speaker 3: of times they do that because they don't know exactly
- 27:06Speaker 3: what package they're going to put in for the start
- 27:08Speaker 3: of the drive. They want to see what the Cardinals
- 27:10Speaker 3: are employing on the field. It's a little like the
- 27:12Speaker 3: old NHL home team gets last line change type of thing.
- 27:16Speaker 2: But if the now between plays, the rules are if
- 27:19Speaker 2: the offense substitutes, the defense gets a chance to substitute
- 27:22Speaker 2: and the umpire will stand over the ball and wait.
- 27:24Speaker 2: But at the start of drives, McDonald often puts 13,
- 27:27Speaker 2: 14 guys in the defensive huddle during the immediate timeouts
- 27:31Speaker 2: so that the offense doesn't know what packages are coming.
- 27:33Speaker 2: And then three or four guys run off, and then
- 27:35Speaker 2: they decide right before the snap. And that was what
- 27:37Speaker 2: was going on with Eamon Worre the other day. But
- 27:41Speaker 2: if I had to guess, Jessamyn, I think Eamon Worre
- 27:42Speaker 2: is back now. And Wednesday, he's probably going to be
- 27:46Speaker 2: full go playing– most, if not all the time.
- 27:49Speaker 3: And now that means more dime, which the Seahawks have
- 27:51Speaker 3: done next to none of so far through two games
- 27:53Speaker 3: because even worry hasn't been on the field. They were
- 27:56Speaker 3: the most dime six defensive back team in the league
- 27:58Speaker 3: last year because they wanted to play even worry as
- 28:01Speaker 3: a hybrid linebacker.
- 28:02Speaker 2: We've talked about that at the same four, three linebacker.
- 28:04Speaker 3: And they wanted Devin Witherspoon inside a nickel, which we've
- 28:07Speaker 3: talked about a lot. And that's why they had the
- 28:09Speaker 3: three cornerback rotation and Rick Wollin and Josh Jobe also
- 28:12Speaker 3: on the field outside Witherspoon inside and even worry as
- 28:15Speaker 3: as the NFL defines him, a sixth defensive back, but
- 28:18Speaker 3: McDonald uses him as an extra linebacker, as Sam Linebacker
- 28:21Speaker 3: when they go dime. So in the meantime, while Eamon
- 28:26Speaker 3: Warrior has not been playing, Tyrese Knight has been playing more.
- 28:28Speaker 3: He played again on Sunday in Arizona as a third linebacker.
- 28:32Speaker 3: They were basically a 4-3 when Eamon Warrior wasn't on
- 28:34Speaker 3: the field a lot of the time, with Drake Thomas
- 28:37Speaker 3: and Tyrese Knight flanking middle linebacker Ernest Jones. That use,
- 28:44Speaker 3: you would figure, will go down if even worry goes
- 28:47Speaker 3: in and they go more to dime, they keep Witherspoon
- 28:51Speaker 3: inside where McDonald wants to play them. You can't have
- 28:54Speaker 3: 12 guys in the field. Someone has to come off.
- 28:55Speaker 3: And it would, I would think mean a return to
- 28:58Speaker 3: more two linebackers. And I think Drake Thomas and Tyrese
- 29:02Speaker 3: Knight will play less if even worry plays more because
- 29:05Speaker 3: then he'll just use even worry and, um, Ernest Jones
- 29:09Speaker 3: as the two linebackers.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Like he did last year.
- 29:10Speaker 5: That's what I like to call depth, Greg.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 29:12Speaker 5: That's what I like to call depth.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:15Speaker 2: And Drake Thomas is a perfect example of that. He
- 29:17Speaker 2: was a special teams player, a practice squad guy, weighed
- 29:19Speaker 2: by the Raiders. And here he is, now a starter
- 29:22Speaker 2: in a prominent role. Played a really good game, I thought,
- 29:25Speaker 2: on Sunday, chasing down ball carriers and open field short tackling.
- 29:29Speaker 4: You've got to give a lot of credit to the
- 29:30Speaker 4: front office there with their ability to scout these guys.
- 29:34Speaker 4: And I know every team does it, right? You know,
- 29:36Speaker 4: guys who are, quote unquote, clear waivers, and then... they're
- 29:40Speaker 4: just trying to hide them on the practice squad because
- 29:42Speaker 4: they see something in them as well.
- 29:44Speaker 5: But the Seahawks seem to be really, really good at it.
- 29:49Speaker 3: It's part of what John Schneider, it's the reason why
- 29:51Speaker 3: he has the contacts around the league that he has.
- 29:54Speaker 3: And he's constantly talking about Staying in the know and
- 29:57Speaker 3: being in on everything. And when he says he's in
- 29:59Speaker 3: on everything, it's for times like that. It's to have
- 30:02Speaker 3: relationships with the Raiders front office so that when Drake
- 30:06Speaker 3: Thomas gets waived, they have a heads up or they, oh,
- 30:09Speaker 3: the pro scouting staff had an eye on this guy
- 30:12Speaker 3: and they snoop him up. And now here he is
- 30:13Speaker 3: a starting weak side inside linebacker. There's countless. Josh Jobe
- 30:19Speaker 3: was waived by Philadelphia at the end of a training camp.
- 30:23Speaker 3: And they signed him to the practice squad. And now
- 30:25Speaker 3: he's an $ 8 million-a-year starting cornerback. So there's all kinds
- 30:29Speaker 3: of stories of the Seahawks doing just that. Cody White,
- 30:34Speaker 3: who's now– he just had two touchdowns with the Raiders
- 30:36Speaker 3: on Sunday. Cody White, who had his first career touchdown
- 30:39Speaker 3: with the Seahawks last year, was in the league for
- 30:42Speaker 3: six years on practice squads with mostly the Steelers.
- 30:45Speaker 2: The Steelers wave him.
- 30:46Speaker 3: They bring him in. They put him on the practice squad.
- 30:48Speaker 3: He becomes a contributor. Go down the list. There are
- 30:52Speaker 3: countless examples of this.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Tai Okada.
- 30:55Speaker 3: A starting safety, currently injured, missed the second consecutive game
- 30:58Speaker 3: with a hamstring injury. But Ty Okada was the same thing.
- 31:01Speaker 3: He was a practice squad player undrafted out of Montana
- 31:03Speaker 3: State that they have now developed.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Into a starter. Yes.
- 31:09Speaker 3: One of the many reasons that the Seahawks in their
- 31:11Speaker 3: 17 years have gone to four Super Bowls and won
- 31:13Speaker 3: two of them, John Schneider's reign, is because of moves
- 31:17Speaker 3: like that.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Yeah, he's just got an eye for talent, and I
- 31:20Speaker 4: think he has an eye for people as well.
- 31:21Speaker 2: A lot of people think he's going to go to
- 31:24Speaker 2: the Hall of Fame.
- 31:25Speaker 3: As a general manager, he's the only general manager who
- 31:28Speaker 3: has taken two different teams of two different coaches and
- 31:30Speaker 3: two different regimes to Super Bowl championships. Guys have done
- 31:34Speaker 3: it before to get to the Super Bowl, but to
- 31:35Speaker 3: win them both two different times with two different head
- 31:38Speaker 3: coaches and two different regimes, he's the first general.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Manager to do that. It bears repeating.
- 31:43Speaker 3: It was Jody Allen who decided to fork in the
- 31:45Speaker 3: road to choose John Schneider's path forward and make him
- 31:48Speaker 3: the chief of football operations in January of 2024 when
- 31:52Speaker 3: they fired Pete Carroll.
- 31:53Speaker 2: It was Jody Allen.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Who made a decision to go with John Schneider's path
- 31:57Speaker 3: forward to Mike McDonald. He wanted an innovator, a young
- 32:01Speaker 3: defensive mind, replacing the old defensive mind of Pete Carroll.
- 32:04Speaker 3: That was Jody Allen's decision to, I mean, Jody Allen
- 32:08Speaker 3: had an either or. Do I go with Pete Carroll,
- 32:11Speaker 3: bring back all the coordinators, run it back the way
- 32:14Speaker 3: it's been for 15 years? Or do I go this
- 32:17Speaker 3: other path with a first-time GM who has never been
- 32:20Speaker 3: fully in charge of football operations in his vision for
- 32:23Speaker 3: where they go? And she chose the latter. And they
- 32:26Speaker 3: won the Super Bowl.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I mean, there's the easy route. I wouldn't
- 32:30Speaker 4: say easy, but the comfortable route. And I always respect
- 32:34Speaker 4: people who choose the unknown. So, I mean, not that
- 32:39Speaker 4: John Schneider was the unknown, but we don't know what's
- 32:41Speaker 4: going to happen without Pete Carroll because that was a
- 32:44Speaker 4: very long regime. And I respect the heck out of
- 32:48Speaker 4: it and look at where it got them.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Thanks on the Tacoma Dodge text line 49451 for some
- 32:54Speaker 3: of the suggestions on.
- 32:55Speaker 5: The Yeah, I saw some vinegar.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I heard white vinegar.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 3: The doctor who was a Coast Guard doctor's moonlighting on
- 33:03Speaker 3: weekends at the urgent care clinic in Oahu told me
- 33:06Speaker 3: that that's a wives' tale.
- 33:07Speaker 2: And actually, there's no medical proof of that working. So
- 33:10Speaker 2: I didn't try it.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Maybe it's a placebo effect.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe. But that's it.
- 33:14Speaker 3: And there's a lot in there about the Sam Darnold situation.
- 33:17Speaker 3: And a lot of you are saying, no need to
- 33:19Speaker 3: rush him back. Let's stay with Drew Locke.
- 33:21Speaker 5: I see a lot of that, yes. And we'll get
- 33:24Speaker 5: to those talkbacks as well.
- 33:25Speaker 2: We'll do that at 11.30.
- 33:27Speaker 3: 11.35, Factor Fiction, your chance to win $ 1, 000 from the
- 33:30Speaker 3: Lucky Eagle Casino Resort. Jessamyn's pick today. We went two
- 33:33Speaker 3: and three last week, which is really subterranean for the show.
- 33:35Speaker 3: We're usually above 500 all the time.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:38Speaker 5: I had the first two. You had the latter three.
- 33:41Speaker 10: I killed us.
- 33:42Speaker 5: I was not great.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I lost two out of three. The Steelers just got
- 33:47Speaker 2: boat raced in New England, and.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Montana, I thought Montana-Oregon State was going to be a
- 33:54Speaker 3: close game, and Oregon State went to work.
- 33:57Speaker 2: They were winless, and they just pounded Montana.
- 34:00Speaker 4: They needed that, just like we needed our Duquesne game.
- 34:03Speaker 5: I mean, we're kind of, we're brethren, so.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah, Duquesne, that's when the first win of the
- 34:09Speaker 2: season for us. Washington state.
- 34:11Speaker 4: It's just kind of funny that they call it. I'm like,
- 34:13Speaker 4: there's a school called Duke, right? And they're the blue devils.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Well, it's for, because I'm from Pittsburgh, just outside Pittsburgh.
- 34:20Speaker 3: It's from Fort Duquesne, which was named after the French.
- 34:24Speaker 3: And there was a Fort Duquesne in Pittsburgh.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Right. Which is why there's Duquesne university, which is right
- 34:29Speaker 2: downtown next to the university of Pittsburgh, which is right
- 34:32Speaker 2: downtown next to it's on the East side and near Oakland, actually,
- 34:35Speaker 2: which is right next to Carnegie Mellon. It's Carnegie Mellon,
- 34:38Speaker 2: Duquesne and Pitt. Boom, boom, boom.
- 34:40Speaker 5: But choose a different mascot.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Duquesne Dukes?
- 34:42Speaker 5: Duquesne Dukes. I'm sorry. It's too repetitive.
- 34:45Speaker 2: There's an alliteration thing there.
- 34:48Speaker 5: I mean, it's too much.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Alliteration is letters. It's the first letters, not the whole name.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Three questions on the text line about Trevon Diggs. So
- 34:56Speaker 3: we'll talk about that next. But we're also going to
- 34:57Speaker 3: talk about the Seahawks running back situation. A new dependable
- 35:01Speaker 3: back emerged in Arizona. He hadn't done much all summer
- 35:05Speaker 3: because he was injured, but now he's at the forefront
- 35:08Speaker 3: of the Seahawks' plans after what he did against the Cardinals.
- 35:10Speaker 3: 11 o'clock, Jory Epstein is senior NFL writer from Yahoo Sports.
- 35:13Speaker 2: All that's coming up on 93.3 KJRFM. Hi, welcome back.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Greg Bell, Justin McIntyre joining you from the LA-based studios
- 35:38Speaker 3: of 93.3 KJR FM. Seahawks are off today, no thing
- 35:41Speaker 3: on the field. They'll be back on the field tomorrow
- 35:44Speaker 3: where we're looking to see if Zach Charbonnet takes the
- 35:47Speaker 3: field for the first time since reconstructive knee surgery in February.
- 35:51Speaker 3: He's eligible now while on the PUP list, the Physically
- 35:54Speaker 3: Inevitable Performer list, to practice now that the Seahawks have
- 35:57Speaker 3: played two games. And we're also looking to see if
- 35:58Speaker 3: Sam Darnold.
- 36:00Speaker 3: We'll practice tomorrow. The plan is he will practice. We'll
- 36:03Speaker 3: find out in what capacity, how much, how many reps
- 36:06Speaker 3: he splits with Drew Locke. There's a couple people on
- 36:10Speaker 3: the text line, three of them, in fact, in a row,
- 36:11Speaker 3: asking about Trevon Diggs.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Remember him?
- 36:13Speaker 3: The 2021 All-Pro Cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys. The Seahawks
- 36:17Speaker 3: signed him late in the preseason. He balled out in
- 36:21Speaker 3: the first half of the final preseason game against Kansas City,
- 36:25Speaker 3: but he's remained.
- 36:26Speaker 2: On the practice squad. He has not been elevated in either.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Of the first two games, and I think some of
- 36:29Speaker 3: that Well, I know some of it is that they've
- 36:32Speaker 3: told us he's trying to get into playing shape after
- 36:35Speaker 3: not practicing since January.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Some of it's learning the defense.
- 36:38Speaker 3: But also because they've needed Rodney Thomas and other safeties
- 36:42Speaker 3: to come up. Rodney Thomas has been an elevation from
- 36:45Speaker 3: the practice squad in each of the first two games
- 36:46Speaker 3: and has started at safety because both Tai Okada and, well,
- 36:50Speaker 3: Tai Okada's been out and Nick Imanwuri's been basically out
- 36:53Speaker 3: for all but nine plays coming back from.
- 36:55Speaker 2: His ankle surgery.
- 36:56Speaker 3: So now that Imanwuri's back, I think that puts Diggs
- 36:59Speaker 3: in play here. for coming up from the practice squad
- 37:03Speaker 3: on Sunday at Washington. The Seahawks can elevate Rodney Thomas
- 37:08Speaker 3: one more time because you can elevate guys from the
- 37:11Speaker 3: practice squad three times before after the third time you
- 37:13Speaker 3: have to offer him a spot on the 53 or
- 37:15Speaker 3: you offer him a spot as an unrestricted free agent.
- 37:19Speaker 3: He's a former starter with the Indianapolis Colts who I
- 37:22Speaker 3: think they're going to end up signing to the active roster.
- 37:24Speaker 3: They're going to do it after the third elevation this
- 37:25Speaker 3: week in Washington. Ty Okada, the hamstring issue. We talk
- 37:29Speaker 3: about hamstrings. They don't just end overnight. So he may
- 37:32Speaker 3: be out for a third time, depending on if he
- 37:34Speaker 3: can practice this week.
- 37:36Speaker 2: At running back, there.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Was also a hamstring issue for Emmanuel Wilson during training camp.
- 37:41Speaker 3: He didn't practice at all. He missed most of August.
- 37:43Speaker 3: They got him from Green Bay on a one-year, no-risk,
- 37:46Speaker 3: low veteran minimum salary deal after he had a 500-yard
- 37:49Speaker 3: rushing season with the Packers last year. He was going
- 37:52Speaker 3: to be their third down, short yardage back. That's what
- 37:55Speaker 3: they liked about him being a more physical runner. a
- 37:58Speaker 3: more pounding guy than Jadarian Price or George Helani or
- 38:01Speaker 3: anyone else in the backfield. But then he missed most
- 38:04Speaker 3: of the preseason. Well, on Sunday, he ended up getting
- 38:08Speaker 3: 21 carries for 92 yards. Not just short yardage, obviously,
- 38:12Speaker 3: because Jadarian Price injured his shoulder. Price, by the way,
- 38:16Speaker 3: left the game in the third quarter, had x-rays that
- 38:18Speaker 3: were negative. It's a shoulder injury. McDonald says they do
- 38:21Speaker 3: not believe it's long-term. They don't think it's a big deal.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Left unsaid is whether Price will play on Sunday or not.
- 38:28Speaker 3: We'll start finding out more, of course, during the week
- 38:30Speaker 3: and whether he practices.
- 38:31Speaker 2: But in the meantime... They now have somebody they can
- 38:33Speaker 2: trust in Emmanuel Wilson, and we weren't even talking about
- 38:36Speaker 2: him three weeks ago.
- 38:37Speaker 5: I did not know his name off the top of
- 38:39Speaker 5: my head.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You aren't alone.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I felt kind of dumb, to be honest, when
- 38:42Speaker 4: I was at the watch party at Muckleshoot.
- 38:44Speaker 5: I was like, excuse me, Wilson? We have a Wilson?
- 38:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Yeah, no, but it's great, and it just shows to
- 38:53Speaker 4: the depth they build and also kind of keep it
- 38:55Speaker 4: hidden from other teams.
- 38:57Speaker 5: I love it.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Up next, let's go around the NFL.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Jory Epstein, senior NFL writer for Yahoo Sports, is back
- 39:03Speaker 3: with the show for the second time. She was a
- 39:06Speaker 3: couple years ago when Chris Kidd and I had a show,
- 39:08Speaker 3: and Zeke's Pizza sponsored her then.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Zeke's Pizza is sponsoring her now.
- 39:11Speaker 5: They love some Jory.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Jory's gluten-free, and they have gluten-free pizza. Oh, yeah. Zeke's Pizza.
- 39:16Speaker 5: They sure do. They have a whole gluten-free menu, actually.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I texted her that this morning, and it blew her mind.
- 39:22Speaker 2: A New Yorker could not believe that there's gluten-free pizza
- 39:24Speaker 2: in Seattle. Oh, yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 5: You know, they have that on Long Island.
- 39:27Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Oh, really? She's. Yes. Yeah.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Well, Long Island's a little more bougie, right?
- 39:32Speaker 5: It depends on where you are. It really does. It's
- 39:34Speaker 5: a big island. Yes. But in Manhattan, it's very. You
- 39:39Speaker 5: want this or you want that? Yeah. Pepperoni or not.
- 39:43Speaker 5: You want the light beer or the dark beer? That's
- 39:45Speaker 5: all we have.
- 39:46Speaker 2: From New York, Jory's up next to talk about everything
- 39:49Speaker 2: in the NFL.
- 39:50Speaker 3: At 11.35, your chance to win $ 1, 000 this week from
- 39:54Speaker 3: the Lucky Eagle Casino Resort in our Factor Fiction Contest.
- 39:57Speaker 2: That's coming up on 93.3 KJRFM.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Here with Greg Bell.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Jasmine McIntyre here again with the Greg Bell show. And
- 40:52Speaker 4: now I have the pleasure of being joined by By
- 40:55Speaker 4: Jory Epstein of Yahoo Sports, our senior writer, who is
- 40:58Speaker 4: now sponsored by Zeke's Pizza.
- 41:00Speaker 5: Yay, Zeke's. Let's go, Jory.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Jory, one of the biggest things that I wanted to
- 41:05Speaker 4: ask you, well, last night, Monday Night Football, what did
- 41:08Speaker 4: you see from your vantage point?
- 41:10Speaker 8: Yeah, I think to me what was most interesting wasn't
- 41:13Speaker 8: the Jackson Dart injury. It wasn't what the Giants were doing.
- 41:17Speaker 8: It was that the Rams, one week after losing to
- 41:19Speaker 8: the San Francisco 49ers, all of a sudden looked like
- 41:22Speaker 8: a high-powered team that will be hard to keep up with,
- 41:25Speaker 8: and that was without Miles Garrett and without Puka Nakua,
- 41:28Speaker 8: both of whom are sidelined due to injury. And all
- 41:30Speaker 8: of a sudden you have Aaron Donald. Okay, maybe it's
- 41:32Speaker 8: not pass rush first week, especially if he's getting these
- 41:35Speaker 8: double teams without Miles Garrett, but he got those run stops.
- 41:38Speaker 8: He's making stops in the red zone, and you say, oh,
- 41:41Speaker 8: no Puka Nakua. What about 33-year-old Devontae Adams making catch
- 41:44Speaker 8: after catch after catch? And so I know Sean McVay
- 41:47Speaker 8: made some jokes after the game about his travel plans
- 41:51Speaker 8: the week before for the game in Australia. But I
- 41:53Speaker 8: do think that the Rams yesterday showed us that they're
- 41:57Speaker 8: going to be just fine this year.
- 41:58Speaker 4: And we are rejoined by Greg Bell here.
- 42:01Speaker 5: And I.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Think that's the one thing that Seahawks fans out here
- 42:06Speaker 4: are really concerned about is that, oh gosh, the Rams
- 42:10Speaker 4: are legit.
- 42:12Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely. I think that the Rams just have a
- 42:14Speaker 8: lot of different talented pieces. And even though they've built
- 42:17Speaker 8: this really heavy team in some ways of you have
- 42:21Speaker 8: a few stars you're really relying on, I feel like
- 42:23Speaker 8: they have more depth below those stars than maybe they
- 42:26Speaker 8: did in the past couple of years. And that's by
- 42:28Speaker 8: design with the cornerbacks they've gotten. That's by design with, oh,
- 42:31Speaker 8: not just Miles, but also Aaron, not just Puka, but
- 42:33Speaker 8: also Devontae. So I do feel like there are a
- 42:35Speaker 8: lot of different ways they can beat you.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Hi, Jory. I got to ask you about Aaron Donald.
- 42:43Speaker 2: How do you look like to you? Can the Rams
- 42:45Speaker 2: count on him to be a three down defensive tackle
- 42:48Speaker 2: by the season's end, if not sooner?
- 42:52Speaker 8: Yeah, I believe he played about 32 snaps last night.
- 42:55Speaker 8: I need to find where I have that stat. But
- 42:57Speaker 8: I think that for him to do that in his
- 42:58Speaker 8: first game back was really impressive to me. He did
- 43:00Speaker 8: say he was sore after the game, which I'd be
- 43:02Speaker 8: shocked if he wasn't. But he didn't look like a
- 43:04Speaker 8: player that, despite getting those double teams, had been out
- 43:07Speaker 8: of the league for a couple of years. So I
- 43:09Speaker 8: think if they want him to play full-time by the
- 43:12Speaker 8: end of the year, they can. I don't know that
- 43:14Speaker 8: that's necessarily what their plan was when they had Aaron
- 43:17Speaker 8: Donald at the start. And I think they hope... If
- 43:19Speaker 8: they get miles back, that's not going to need to
- 43:21Speaker 8: be their plan. What was interesting to me is that
- 43:23Speaker 8: NextGenStats had a number saying that on one hand, first
- 43:27Speaker 8: game back since 2023, he generates just one pass around
- 43:29Speaker 8: 18 pass rushes, which is tied for his career low.
- 43:33Speaker 8: But to me, the more interesting stat was that he
- 43:36Speaker 8: averaged three quarters of a second in his pass rush
- 43:39Speaker 8: get-off time, which ranked as the third quickest by defensive
- 43:42Speaker 8: tackle in the game this season. So to me, if
- 43:45Speaker 8: he's getting up, that means in under a second, he's
- 43:47Speaker 8: creating a problem for at least one offensive lineman, probably two,
- 43:51Speaker 8: sometimes three, and also the quarterback. And so it's not
- 43:54Speaker 8: to me if he gets helmets about all the attention
- 43:56Speaker 8: he commands and how that opens up his teammates as well.
- 43:59Speaker 2: You cover the Giants or been around the Giants a
- 44:01Speaker 2: lot more than I have. If I could take you
- 44:04Speaker 2: back to the decision to sign Jameis Winston, draft Jackson Dart,
- 44:08Speaker 2: and try to really save Brian Dable's job, and let
- 44:11Speaker 2: Drew Locke go after.
- 44:12Speaker 3: His one season and four starts with him at the
- 44:14Speaker 3: end of that season. Boy, that doesn't look like a
- 44:16Speaker 3: good move right now, the way Drew Locke's playing for
- 44:18Speaker 3: the Seahawks. That decision by the Giants to let his
- 44:22Speaker 3: contract lapse and not re-sign him is how the Seahawks
- 44:25Speaker 3: got him back on a two-year deal and why he's
- 44:26Speaker 3: playing as Sam Donald's been hurt. But was there any,
- 44:31Speaker 3: at the time, if you can remember, was there any,
- 44:33Speaker 3: thought of keeping Drew Locke and how that whole decision
- 44:36Speaker 3: went down with Jameis Winston in New York?
- 44:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:39Speaker 8: On one hand, when you look at how they each
- 44:41Speaker 8: played this league, no question, Drew had a much stronger
- 44:43Speaker 8: game and much the decisions he was making. I mean,
- 44:47Speaker 8: Jack Jameis is so much fun to watch, but it's
- 44:49Speaker 8: like they spin out of the pocket and then you
- 44:51Speaker 8: throw it and there's no receiver nearby. That actually isn't
- 44:53Speaker 8: that helpful for scoring points. But what's interesting to me
- 44:57Speaker 8: is that I talked to Drew recently. about his career
- 44:59Speaker 8: when I was at Seattle for training camp. And he
- 45:02Speaker 8: kind of mentioned like, look, he was having different offensive
- 45:04Speaker 8: coordinators every single year, basically college and the NFL, other
- 45:08Speaker 8: than Shane Waldron. And at least this year, he feels
- 45:10Speaker 8: like going from Clint Kubiak to Brian Flory, there's kind
- 45:13Speaker 8: of consistency in the principles. And so I don't know
- 45:15Speaker 8: that Drew thinks he was this player a couple of
- 45:18Speaker 8: years ago. And I also think when you asked me
- 45:20Speaker 8: this question, it kind of reminds me to a sit
- 45:22Speaker 8: down interview I had with Gino Smith and June for
- 45:24Speaker 8: a story that basically didn't run until now. And the
- 45:27Speaker 8: Seahawks part of it ended up not running because of
- 45:29Speaker 8: the timing. And when I asked Gino what he thought
- 45:34Speaker 8: of the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl in the first
- 45:36Speaker 8: year that happened and what goes through his mind, he
- 45:38Speaker 8: kind of mentioned like comparing his year of Las Vegas
- 45:41Speaker 8: to Sam's year last year in Seattle. He's like, I'm
- 45:44Speaker 8: super competitive and I'm super motivated, but I also understand
- 45:47Speaker 8: it's a team game. This is a direct quote. I
- 45:49Speaker 8: understand it's a process and it's not just me alone.
- 45:52Speaker 8: I'm not in it alone, just like Sam's not in
- 45:54Speaker 8: it alone. The way it came off, and I hope
- 45:57Speaker 8: I'm framing this properly, was not like he wasn't giving
- 46:00Speaker 8: Sam credit. He was so happy for Sam and said,
- 46:02Speaker 8: we've had similar career arcs. And I understand what it
- 46:06Speaker 8: means to get to the point he did. But I
- 46:09Speaker 8: think Geno's reminder of like, hey, what he was working
- 46:12Speaker 8: with in Vegas last year is very different than what
- 46:14Speaker 8: Seattle has built as a team. Kind of reminds me
- 46:17Speaker 8: of some of what Jamison was working with compared to
- 46:20Speaker 8: what Drew Locke worked with. And also, I don't think
- 46:23Speaker 8: that Drew Locke would have the same infrastructure for success
- 46:26Speaker 8: around him right now if he had been on the
- 46:28Speaker 8: New York Giants as opposed to the Seattle Seahawks. There
- 46:30Speaker 8: would have been a lot of turnover at the offensive system,
- 46:33Speaker 8: a lot of turnover at quarterback. coordinator, and I actually
- 46:36Speaker 8: think he's better positioned where he is right now, so
- 46:40Speaker 8: I don't know that the Giants would be better. Now,
- 46:42Speaker 8: that's not to take credit away from Drew. Drew has
- 46:43Speaker 8: played fantastic, and I'm so impressed with what he's doing,
- 46:46Speaker 8: and yes, it helps to have Jackson, Smith, and Duke,
- 46:48Speaker 8: but yes, it helps to have a defense forcing some takeaways.
- 46:52Speaker 8: I think Drew is playing great, but I also think
- 46:54Speaker 8: Drew is in a situation that is helping him play great.
- 46:58Speaker 3: George Epstein is our weekly... guest, thanks to Zeke's Pizza.
- 47:02Speaker 3: She's the senior NFL writer for Yahoo Sports. She joins
- 47:05Speaker 3: us on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline from New York, talking
- 47:07Speaker 3: around all NFL things. While let's stay on lock, we just,
- 47:11Speaker 3: at the top of the show, ask our listeners out here, Jory,
- 47:14Speaker 3: would you just keep lock in this week against Washington?
- 47:16Speaker 2: They're 0-2.
- 47:17Speaker 3: They're starting to back up quarterback and let Sam Darnold
- 47:20Speaker 3: rest another week just because their defense is playing so well.
- 47:23Speaker 3: It may not matter in some ways who plays quarterback
- 47:26Speaker 3: for the Seahawks right now. Or Sam Donald practices Wednesday.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Go ahead and play him.
- 47:33Speaker 8: I guess some of this depends on does Sam feel
- 47:36Speaker 8: like he's 7 out of 10 back or 9 out
- 47:38Speaker 8: of 10 back? I don't really think anyone's 10 out
- 47:40Speaker 8: of 10 once the season starts. I would likely go
- 47:44Speaker 8: with Drew Locke. I think you get Sam practicing. You
- 47:46Speaker 8: see what he's able to do. But I would still,
- 47:49Speaker 8: at least as of Wednesday, probably give Drew those first-team snaps.
- 47:52Speaker 8: And I think that when you look at what the
- 47:54Speaker 8: commanders have and where they're at– I think that Drew
- 47:57Speaker 8: can win this game. And I think that the importance
- 48:02Speaker 8: of Sam's being fully healed for December and January is
- 48:06Speaker 8: way more important than the extra five or 10 points
- 48:09Speaker 8: you might get from him against the commanders in September.
- 48:12Speaker 8: So to me, that's a pretty smooth decision. I guess
- 48:14Speaker 8: the question would be if Sam really does feel back,
- 48:17Speaker 8: do you at least have him dressed as the backup?
- 48:19Speaker 8: Is that weird? I mean, I don't think this isn't
- 48:20Speaker 8: a quarterback controversy. I don't think so. Like it's not
- 48:23Speaker 8: that element. And so maybe that you're able to sort
- 48:27Speaker 8: of have him as a, okay, if we need you, great,
- 48:29Speaker 8: but we'd rather arrest you. I think you go with Drew.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I agree.
- 48:33Speaker 8: What do you think, Greg?
- 48:34Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 48:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 48:36Speaker 3: For the points you just made, and there is no
- 48:37Speaker 3: quarterback controversy. We're not trying to say on this show
- 48:40Speaker 3: that Sam Darnold should not be the quarterback.
- 48:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Let's go ultra-conservative while your team and backup quarterback are
- 48:45Speaker 3: playing as well as they are. Okay, a backup quarterback
- 48:48Speaker 3: in Washington, too. Jaden Daniels with another dislocated elbow. That's
- 48:52Speaker 3: two seasons in a row. I watched him on the
- 48:53Speaker 3: Sunday night game back in November when the Seahawks were
- 48:56Speaker 3: there in Landover, dislocated his elbow. And now here he
- 48:58Speaker 3: is again with a dislocated elbow. So Dan Quinn yesterday
- 49:01Speaker 3: saying it's going to be Marcus Mariota, who's 33 years old.
- 49:05Speaker 3: He started plenty of times against everybody. But what's up
- 49:10Speaker 3: with the commanders now with Mariota, or is this a
- 49:12Speaker 3: situation where Mariota's plug and play because of how experienced
- 49:15Speaker 3: he is anyway?
- 49:18Speaker 8: Yeah, I think Mariota's very experienced. and I think he's
- 49:20Speaker 8: one of the better backups in the league, and there
- 49:22Speaker 8: shouldn't be significant dropback in terms of ability to operate
- 49:25Speaker 8: the offense, arm talent, et cetera. What I worry about
- 49:28Speaker 8: is David Blau, their first-year offensive coordinator, really built this
- 49:32Speaker 8: offense that is, hey, we're going to go under center more,
- 49:34Speaker 8: we're going to have a lot of play action, really
- 49:36Speaker 8: very different than the kind of tempo running that they
- 49:39Speaker 8: were doing with Cliff Kingsbury last year. And one of
- 49:41Speaker 8: the reasons that Washington believed in this so much is
- 49:44Speaker 8: because of Jaden Daniels, dual threat and I do think
- 49:47Speaker 8: Mariota has some degree of dual threat but he doesn't
- 49:50Speaker 8: threaten you the way that Jaden does which means that
- 49:53Speaker 8: this run pass by action all that you don't have
- 49:56Speaker 8: necessarily the same concern that Jaden is going to escape
- 49:59Speaker 8: I mean even in this past week Jaden plays part
- 50:02Speaker 8: of the game he's got seven rushes for 69 yards
- 50:05Speaker 8: Marcus later in the game had one attempt for three
- 50:07Speaker 8: yards and so yeah he was a very efficient in
- 50:09Speaker 8: the passing game but I think some of these principles
- 50:12Speaker 8: so you to me, Marcus will be solid and you
- 50:15Speaker 8: don't really have to worry about whether he's going to
- 50:17Speaker 8: be a strong backup, but some of the math changing
- 50:20Speaker 8: problems that Jaden Daniels, when healthy creates, you have to
- 50:24Speaker 8: worry about. And I think you probably have to worry
- 50:26Speaker 8: about them even when Jaden returns to the field, which
- 50:28Speaker 8: should be the season from what they're saying, because can
- 50:32Speaker 8: you risk Jaden's health in that way at some point?
- 50:34Speaker 8: I mean, this didn't happen on a run. So I
- 50:36Speaker 8: think it's worth knowing that he was kind of trying
- 50:37Speaker 8: to catch himself after he had contact from the defense
- 50:41Speaker 8: on an incomplete pass, but I still just worry about
- 50:45Speaker 8: that durability, which has been a concern from the time
- 50:47Speaker 8: he was drafted. And when he's healthy, he's a huge problem,
- 50:51Speaker 8: but recurring injuries in the same place, worry me. And
- 50:55Speaker 8: the last thing I'll say on that is like, we
- 50:56Speaker 8: kind of saw with Daniel Jones last year, where he
- 50:58Speaker 8: has a fractured leg on one side and ends up
- 51:01Speaker 8: tearing that I believe it was Achilles on the other.
- 51:03Speaker 8: And so you kind of have to worry about these
- 51:05Speaker 8: compensation injuries to have guys come back and they're not
- 51:08Speaker 8: fully healthy. And this is the third time that Jaden
- 51:11Speaker 8: has had an issue with And the slight upside is
- 51:16Speaker 8: it's not his throwing arm, but you've still got to worry.
- 51:21Speaker 3: You were at 49ers camp last month, Jory, on or
- 51:24Speaker 3: about the time you were at the Seahawks camp.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Did you see– health is such a big story with.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Them and who's healthy and who's not and who's coming
- 51:31Speaker 3: back and George Kittle and Fred Warner and the whole bit,
- 51:34Speaker 3: Christian McCaffrey.
- 51:36Speaker 2: But Brock Purdy, 20 for 22, did you see that
- 51:39Speaker 2: coming and how accurate he is again in Kyle Shanahan's offense?
- 51:43Speaker 3: Are you buying into now? the 49ers rejoining the Rams
- 51:46Speaker 3: and the Seahawks in the West, or are the Dolphins
- 51:48Speaker 3: just awful?
- 51:51Speaker 8: Yeah, it's funny. My colleague Frank Schwab does power rankings
- 51:54Speaker 8: every week, and I believe he has three NFC West
- 51:57Speaker 8: teams in the top four. I think the top four,
- 51:59Speaker 8: other than the Bills. And I think that's deserved. I
- 52:02Speaker 8: think the Niners, when healthy, if they stay really healthy,
- 52:08Speaker 8: I think if they stay like 80% healthy, they still
- 52:11Speaker 8: should have a chance. My question is given their age
- 52:14Speaker 8: and how many past injuries they have from guys on
- 52:17Speaker 8: their team, we often hear the best predictor of future
- 52:19Speaker 8: injury is past injury. How many losses can they withstand?
- 52:23Speaker 8: But they're doing this about their talented rookie, Deshaun Stribling,
- 52:26Speaker 8: who is lighting it up in the preseason. Now he's
- 52:28Speaker 8: out about 10 weeks after surgery, and they're still looking
- 52:31Speaker 8: like this, and Brock is really distributing the ball around. Now,
- 52:33Speaker 8: I would argue that what Brock did against the Rams,
- 52:36Speaker 8: going 25 of 34 in week one, is more impressive
- 52:40Speaker 8: than 20 of 22 against the Dolphins because of their
- 52:43Speaker 8: relative opponent strength. But I do think that everyone, when
- 52:47Speaker 8: I was at.
- 52:50Speaker 8: Looks so good. I mean, Fred Warner keeps talking about
- 52:53Speaker 8: how Brock's the best quarterback in the league. And it's
- 52:55Speaker 8: funny because on one hand, I know that you have
- 52:56Speaker 8: a lot of guys who say that about their own quarterback,
- 52:59Speaker 8: but Fred Warner is one of the most cerebral and
- 53:01Speaker 8: talented players in the entire NFL. Like if you take
- 53:04Speaker 8: what he does in his position relative to how guys
- 53:07Speaker 8: are any at their position, there are a few players that,
- 53:10Speaker 8: if any better than Fred Warner. And I don't think
- 53:12Speaker 8: he just says that to say that I think it's,
- 53:15Speaker 8: he practices against Brock all the time and really sees
- 53:17Speaker 8: what he's able to do and how Brock runs that
- 53:19Speaker 8: anticipatory system. And so I do think that they believe
- 53:23Speaker 8: Brock is that good. And I think he's been that
- 53:25Speaker 8: good for a while. Again, just can he stay healthy?
- 53:29Speaker 3: In Chicago, we saw Caleb Williams going off the field
- 53:31Speaker 3: on back of a cart would look like he thought
- 53:33Speaker 3: it was a season ending injury.
- 53:34Speaker 2: The way he was reacting.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Hamstring issue that bears say week to week. for their
- 53:39Speaker 3: starting quarterback. Joy, you've been around the Bears a little bit.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Do you think that Ben Johnson stays with his offense
- 53:46Speaker 3: going forward without Caleb Williams, or what's.
- 53:48Speaker 2: He going to do now without Williams on the field?
- 53:50Speaker 2: Does he change up?
- 53:51Speaker 8: I mean, it's Ben Johnson really likes the run game generally.
- 53:56Speaker 8: And so I think he'll continue to really like the
- 53:58Speaker 8: run game. I do think that week one, week two
- 54:00Speaker 8: of Tyson Bajan playing kind of like we saw with
- 54:03Speaker 8: true lock of some of the pre-snap penalties and the
- 54:05Speaker 8: cadence stuff does tend to get cleaned up a little bit,
- 54:09Speaker 8: the longer you're in the game. And so I do
- 54:11Speaker 8: think there'll be some strength, but I mean, He's not
- 54:14Speaker 8: going to be Caleb Williams. So you do have to adjust.
- 54:16Speaker 8: And the problem is, and I can't remember if I
- 54:18Speaker 8: said this last week, is that no team to me
- 54:21Speaker 8: was farther apart in terms of where their defense was
- 54:24Speaker 8: and where their offense was in training camp when I
- 54:25Speaker 8: visited in the Chicago Bears. And so if you now
- 54:28Speaker 8: are taking the quarterback out of Chicago Bears offense, that
- 54:31Speaker 8: was really going to need to carry this team. You're
- 54:33Speaker 8: not going to have the defense. be able to take
- 54:36Speaker 8: that much pressure off your offense, and then all of
- 54:39Speaker 8: a sudden you see, hey, 9-3. So I do worry
- 54:42Speaker 8: about what they're going to be able to do, but
- 54:43Speaker 8: it seems like Caleb's injury is not as bad as
- 54:45Speaker 8: initially feared, or I should say not as long-term as
- 54:47Speaker 8: initially feared.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Tyson Bajent will make his fifth career start, it appears,
- 54:52Speaker 3: on Sunday for the Bears. He's been in the league
- 54:54Speaker 3: four years, all with the Bears, a former free agent quarterback,
- 54:58Speaker 3: now getting a chance to start. He's from West Virginia
- 55:02Speaker 3: and went to Shepherd College near where I grew up
- 55:04Speaker 3: in West Virginia. Joey Everson joining us on the Beacon
- 55:06Speaker 3: Plumbing Hotline. Thanks to Zeke's Pizza, Zeke'sPizza.com. Are you a
- 55:11Speaker 3: Clint Kubiak Raiders believer? A lot of people out here
- 55:14Speaker 3: in Seattle didn't think Clint Kubiak was head coaching material
- 55:16Speaker 3: just because of his affect when you talk to him
- 55:18Speaker 3: in press conferences and stuff. But, man, he knows ball
- 55:21Speaker 3: from his father and the Shanahan system. And now he's
- 55:24Speaker 3: got the Raiders at 2-0. And– First of all, from
- 55:27Speaker 3: what you've seen, how they've done this, and are you
- 55:29Speaker 3: a believer that this can continue in the AFC West,
- 55:32Speaker 3: which is loaded, of course?
- 55:34Speaker 8: Yeah, well, before we get to the Raiders' performance, I
- 55:37Speaker 8: want to go back to what you said about Quinn
- 55:38Speaker 8: and whether people believed in him based off how he
- 55:41Speaker 8: runs a room or how he presents. When Kellen Moore
- 55:44Speaker 8: was first getting head coaching jobs, I talked to an
- 55:46Speaker 8: executive who had interviewed Kellen going back to when he
- 55:49Speaker 8: was coming out of Boise State at the Combine going
- 55:52Speaker 8: into the NFL as a player, and the executive told
- 55:55Speaker 8: me that Helen Moore doesn't command a room like Tariq Midnight,
- 56:00Speaker 8: but he demands respect, even if he doesn't command it,
- 56:03Speaker 8: because of how cerebral he is and because of what
- 56:05Speaker 8: he's able to do. And at the time, coming out
- 56:07Speaker 8: of Boise State, I think he was the one against
- 56:08Speaker 8: quarterback in college football history at the time. So I
- 56:11Speaker 8: would say similar to Clint, like, We hear it all
- 56:14Speaker 8: the time that it sounds cliche. If you help guys win,
- 56:16Speaker 8: they don't really care what you sound like, what your
- 56:18Speaker 8: personality is, all of that. If you win, then you're
- 56:20Speaker 8: going to get the buy-in. And I think that Clint
- 56:22Speaker 8: is clearly showing he can get the buy-in. I think
- 56:25Speaker 8: that even if the Raiders maybe aren't quite as good
- 56:29Speaker 8: as they seem or quite as talented as the record
- 56:31Speaker 8: currently suggests, We've seen teams in recent years that have
- 56:35Speaker 8: been able to run that momentum and that belief to
- 56:38Speaker 8: massively overperform and be ahead of schedule in their life cycle.
- 56:43Speaker 8: I think we saw that with the Commanders a couple
- 56:44Speaker 8: years ago in Daniel's rookie year. We saw that with
- 56:47Speaker 8: the Bears. We saw that with the Patriots. Some of
- 56:49Speaker 8: this stuff, you really do end up running it and
- 56:53Speaker 8: having a deep playoff run just because you're there. Now, obviously,
- 56:55Speaker 8: it's been two weeks. I'm not saying the Raiders are
- 56:57Speaker 8: sure to have a deep playoff run, but I think
- 56:59Speaker 8: the momentum carries. The other thing that's worth noting is
- 57:02Speaker 8: I feel like we've seen a lot of teams around
- 57:04Speaker 8: the league who say, Hey, we're going to do this
- 57:06Speaker 8: under center. We're going to do this play action stuff.
- 57:08Speaker 8: And then they have pretty significant injuries to the offensive
- 57:10Speaker 8: line or even one very big injury. And all of
- 57:12Speaker 8: a sudden it just doesn't work. The Raiders on the
- 57:15Speaker 8: other hand, paid big to get Tyler Linderbaum. They invested
- 57:17Speaker 8: in their offensive line. And if you look at ESPN's, um,
- 57:22Speaker 8: line of scrimmage rankings, the Raiders went from being the
- 57:26Speaker 8: 22nd ranked pass block team last year to number one
- 57:30Speaker 8: through two weeks. Again, it's two weeks, but to go
- 57:32Speaker 8: from 22nd to number one, I think it shows that
- 57:35Speaker 8: they are stabilizing certain elements, and I would say Clint's
- 57:38Speaker 8: scheme is a factor in that stabilization.
- 57:40Speaker 3: I got to ask you real quick before I let
- 57:43Speaker 3: you go about the Chargers, because they come in here
- 57:45Speaker 3: after the Seahawks play in Washington.
- 57:46Speaker 2: October 4th, week four, Chargers at Seahawks.
- 57:49Speaker 3: The Chargers are 0-2, having lost at home to the
- 57:53Speaker 3: Cardinals and then losing to Kubiak's Raiders. What's going on there? Yeah,
- 57:58Speaker 3: Justin Herbert is so talented, but how can the Chargers
- 58:02Speaker 3: be 0-2 with the teams they've faced so far in
- 58:04Speaker 3: a division where they can't afford to give up games?
- 58:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I'll be honest. I'm pretty surprised about this. I
- 58:10Speaker 8: think some of this does come back to that offensive
- 58:12Speaker 8: line and they didn't. I still thought that the Justin Herbert,
- 58:17Speaker 8: Mike McDaniel pairing would be a lot more effective than
- 58:20Speaker 8: it is. I talked to Mike McDaniel during training camp
- 58:22Speaker 8: when I visited them and his belief that offensive lines
- 58:26Speaker 8: can't handle defensive lines on average in this league. And
- 58:30Speaker 8: so you need to lean into the quick passing game
- 58:32Speaker 8: and not rely on the protection being long enough to
- 58:35Speaker 8: let most of those plays develop deep. I thought that
- 58:37Speaker 8: would be more effective than it is. So far, we're
- 58:39Speaker 8: seeing a lot of turnovers and a lot of just,
- 58:42Speaker 8: I don't know if sloppy is the right way, but
- 58:44Speaker 8: they're just not on the same page and it's not
- 58:46Speaker 8: very rhythmic in Los Angeles. So I think they still
- 58:49Speaker 8: could turn things around, but once you get into some
- 58:52Speaker 8: of these habits and you don't have the offensive line
- 58:54Speaker 8: giving you a lot of stability and time, I do
- 58:57Speaker 8: worry about their ability to get turned around. And then
- 58:59Speaker 8: you say, okay, well, what if Mike McDaniel thinks one
- 59:01Speaker 8: thing is best philosophically and Harbaugh thinks another? How do
- 59:04Speaker 8: you sort through that? So I don't expect them to
- 59:07Speaker 8: be much of a problem against Seattle, but we'll see.
- 59:10Speaker 2: See.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Their next seven games, they could be 0-9. They're at Bills,
- 59:15Speaker 3: at Seahawks, versus Broncos, at Chiefs, at Rams, versus.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Texans, at Ravens.
- 59:21Speaker 3: That's their next seven games for the Chargers. They were
- 59:23Speaker 3: already 0-2 after losing to the Cardinals and the Raiders.
- 59:28Speaker 8: The first two games by exactly 26 to 14. So
- 59:31Speaker 8: I hope they can just do that for nine straight weeks.
- 59:34Speaker 8: The exact same score.
- 59:36Speaker 2: That guy's a mini-score agave. It's good to talk to
- 59:39Speaker 2: you again, Jory. It's good to be having you sponsored
- 59:41Speaker 2: again by Zeke's Pizza. We'll talk to you again next Tuesday.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Where are you at this week? Are you back in
- 59:45Speaker 2: the homestead or where are you headed?
- 59:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:49Speaker 8: It'll be interesting to see what's going on. So thanks
- 59:51Speaker 8: so much, Greg.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Thanks, Jory.
- 59:52Speaker 3: Jory Epstein. She's of Yahoo Sports senior NFL writer. She
- 59:56Speaker 3: joins us every Tuesday at 11 o'clock thanks to Zeke's
- 59:58Speaker 3: Pizza and Zeke'sPizza.com. Up next, your chance to be a
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: part of the show, 49451 is the Tacoma Dodge text line.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: The talkback on the iHeartRadio app or the 933KJR.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Com, the little red microphone button where you can leave
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: a 30-second or shorter voicemail, and Jessamyn will absolutely play
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: those back. And 1135, your chance to win $ 1, 000 in
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: factor fiction brought to you by the Lucky Eagle Casino Resort.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: All that's coming up. On 93.3 KJRFM.
- 1:00:39Speaker 13: Oh, but apparently can't talk about Mariners.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: But I'm not talking about.
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: Continue for 890 miles.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: 890 miles?
- 1:00:53Speaker 13: This is what I get for listening to KJR on
- 1:00:55Speaker 13: the road, man.
- 1:00:57Speaker 12: 890 miles.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: Ball?
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: No baseball? No Mariners?
- 1:01:05Speaker 12: It's wrong.
- 1:01:06Speaker 10: Big Scott here in Tumwater. I say play Drew Locke.
- 1:01:11Speaker 10: Get that trade value up. Hold him ransom. Get ourselves
- 1:01:16Speaker 10: a second or third round pick for him. As long
- 1:01:19Speaker 10: as we make sure Sammy is good. But, yeah, I mean,
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: let's get something for the guy. Obviously, he rips up
- 1:01:29Speaker 10: the Redskins, or Commanders, excuse me, and we're in the money, honey.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: So Gene Serator was on with Chuck this morning.
- 1:01:37Speaker 9: They talked about defensive players punching the ball out. And
- 1:01:42Speaker 9: one thing they didn't really go deep into, when a
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: defensive player punches and misses and just punches the offensive player,
- 1:01:51Speaker 9: You know, that's a serious penalty.
- 1:01:55Speaker 12: You don't see it often.
- 1:01:57Speaker 9: I just want to know if you guys have seen
- 1:02:00Speaker 9: that that much and if it's been called.
- 1:02:02Speaker 12: I mean, that's just a terrible thing.
- 1:02:03Speaker 13: Hey, I'm about 60 miles east of Billings, just past
- 1:02:10Speaker 13: the University of Minnesota semi-truck bringing all its football equipment
- 1:02:14Speaker 13: out to get its ass kicked in Husky Stadium.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: Well, we do appreciate all those voices.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: A lot of drivers today.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Various, various topics.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: 890 miles.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: 890 bleeping miles. Yes, I do edit these, by the way.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about the drafting or the trading,
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: potential trading of Drew Locke.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Because Chuck brought this up to me this morning.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: First of all, I don't think he would get a
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: second or third round pick, even to a quarterback desperate team.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Look at, like, Stefan digs to the bills a couple
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: of years ago. Was that like a conditional fifth or
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: sixth round pick? And some of the trades of all
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: pro starting players don't net second or third round pick.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: So that's one, but more importantly, from Seattle's perspective, Why
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: the hell would you trade the asset.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: You have that nobody else in the league has?
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Drew Locke being this good as a backup quarterback is
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: a luxury item that you planned for.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: You made sure this happened by signing. John Schneider signed
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: him back to a two-year deal just for this case.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: They didn't just sign him just to sign him and
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: have him in the locker room. They had him in
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: case Sam Darnold got hurt.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: As we were talking about earlier, John Schneider does things
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: for a reason.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: It's a trust the process situation.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: So why would you trade away that asset? Mike McDonald's
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: all about chasing edges, right? He talks about it all
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: the time. It's on T-shirts. It's on signs in the
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: locker room.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: The first sign you see when you turn a corner
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: and walk into the locker room is chasing edges. The
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: edge they chased, they ran down and one was on
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: the backup quarterback, Drew Locke.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Why would you trade that away?
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: I mean, the new people that people become when they
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: get here, whether it be right out of college through
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: the draft or from a previous organization. I mean, Michael
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: Bennett is a great example of that as well. You
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: can go back and back and back and look at guys.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: Doug Baldwin, undrafted free agent. There's guys that this.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Thomas Rawls.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: Thomas Rawls, my guy. Rumble with the Rawls. Muckleshoot Casino,
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: 10 a.m. this Sunday.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: But there's a lot of examples of rejuvenation here in Seattle.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: And I'm sure it's not unique just to Seattle, but
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I appreciate what I've seen here. And Drew Locke, he
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: does have the ability to be a starter, which he
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: has proven.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: However... I wouldn't trade him. I would never let go
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: of that. And he seems so happy here.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: He does.
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: And it's true that they may lose him for nothing
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: or maybe a comp pick, but probably not too... Excuse me,
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: I have a comp pick because he won't have played
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: a lot by the end of the season.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Comp pick formulas include playing time. But they've got an
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: advantage over every other team, and then their backup quarterback
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: is better than anybody else's backup quarterback right now.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: Why would you give that up and trade it? I
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: don't think that's going to happen. I would be very shocked.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: Of course, I'm the guy who said Russell Wilson would
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: never get traded in town.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: I'm aware of that.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: And there were reasons that I've talked about why I
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: said that as strongly as I did, so... I guess
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: never say never. If someone offered John Schneider a first-round
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: pick for a backup quarterback, he would probably do it,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: but they're not going to do that. But I, as
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: a principal, would say, you've got the edge chased on
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: backup quarterbacks.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Stay there.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: A couple things on the text line, 49451 of the
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: Comodage text line.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Chuck had a Pop-Tart burning his finger this morning.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: He's got a blistered thumb.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: He's got a blistered thumb from cinnamon Pop-Tart. I got
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: on him this morning at 7 o'clock on my appearance
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: with him about why was he eating cinnamon Pop-Tarts.
- 1:05:45Speaker 12: Those are really good.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: Are they?
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: I haven't eaten Pop-Tarts since I was little.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: That sounds like the wrong flavor to me.
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: Which one would you go with?
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Cookies and cream, strawberry, the one with the sprinkles on it.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: Oh, do you want the crusty white frosting or whatever
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: with the sprinkles on it?
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: That's what I was a kid. I had the strawberry
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: with the sprinkles. Rainbow sprinkles on it.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: My parents didn't keep Pop-Tarts in the house, but my
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: cousin's parents did. And so anytime I went there, I
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: was allowed to eat like mini muffins and Pop-Tarts.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: 410 says, Greg, I love brown sugar and cinnamon Pop-Tarts.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Then again, I'm a Navy guy, so maybe that's why. Yes,
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: that is why, Mr. Rice 410. Cinnamon's delicious.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: I mean, you know, my parents were feeding three kids
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: on a very bare minimum one person salary when I
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: was growing up.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: And when we would just.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: Do, you know, toasted white bread with butter and cinnamon
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: sugar on it.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: And pretend it was a Pop-Tart.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: 2-5-3 says, Sam has had limited game time so far.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: If he's ready to go, oh, that's.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Right, we're at Factor Fiction. What am I talking about?
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: We'll get back to the text line after Factor Fiction.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: You chance to win $ 1, 000.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: It's your shot at our weekly $ 1, 000 and the $ 10, 000
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: grand prize.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: It's Factor Fiction.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Proudly presented by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel, where every
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: day feels lucky. Factor Fiction is on. Sports Radio 93.3,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: KJR FM. all right this is it.
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: Your daily chance at 11 35 or 7 to win
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: a thousand dollars from the lucky ego casino in a
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: hotel the window just opens yeah you get 12 minutes
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: to text fact 49451 or fiction to 49451 if you
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: agree or disagree with jessamine mcintyre's nfl pick today what
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: is it ma'am.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: I am taking the Panthers minus two and a half
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: as they are facing the Browns. Yes.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: At home?
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: They are on the road.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: At Cleveland. The Panthers are a road favorite. That's how
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: bad the Browns are perceived.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: That is how bad the Browns are. And that is
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: why I think.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: So home field advantage, I usually figure into my head
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: three points.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: That's what generally the Vegas oddsmakers say they do.
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: And not that I know any Vegas oddmakers or anything.
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: I'm just saying that that's what goes into my head.
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: And I see that.
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: That spread, I usually like bigger spreads when I'm choosing,
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: but I think the Panthers are going to beat them
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: by more than three points.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: If you agree with Jessamyn, Panthers minus two and a
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: half at Cleveland against the Browns.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Text FACT to 49451 if you disagree.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Text FICTION to 49451. You have about 11 and a
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: half minutes from right now, so about till 1150-ish.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: To text in your choice.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: How it works is, if you say, Jessamyn, if you
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: text fact, and in fact, the Panthers beat the Browns
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: by three or more points in Cleveland on Sunday.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Then you are a winner for that pick.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: One winner is all it takes to get entered into
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: the hat for the week of winners, and then Anderson
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Hurst on Monday morning draws from that hat, electronic hat
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: as it were, of winners, and you were in the
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: running to get $ 1, 000.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Now, it behus you to listen and play at $ 235 with.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Furness, 3.35 with Dave Slotty, Marla Dickfane, 7.35 each morning
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: with Chuck Powell, 11.35 with Archie each morning because the team,
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: the guy or gal who wins the most times between
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: now and the contest ending December 11th will win $ 10, 000
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: from the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel. That's how the
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: game works.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: It absolutely does.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: Again, I think that I've never been a fan of
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: the Cleveland Browns.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Me neither.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: Yes, either. And I'm not necessarily all that high on
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: Carolina either. I just think they're a better team as equipped.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: And when I saw that road favorite come in, two
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: and a half points, that's basically saying an even spread.
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: And I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. That's not
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: going to happen. I think we're going to win this week, Greg.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: I think we're going to have a good week.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: I think so.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: And the bar is pretty low in this station right now.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Everybody's hovering around 500.
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: Well, the best part is that the listeners, regardless, always
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: have a chance to win, whether you agree with us
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: or not.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: And all you have to be is winning in your own.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: It doesn't matter what the rest of the station is doing.
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: It doesn't.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: It does not. And you still could win your $ 1, 000.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: So that's minus two and a half. She's picking the
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Panthers at the Browns minus two and a half. Text
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: fact if you agree to 49451. If you disagree, fiction
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: to 49451.
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: We've got a couple texts coming in. One is fact. F-A-C-K.
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: One is face.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: That doesn't count.
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: That doesn't count. I'm sorry.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: Spelling matters in life.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: Yes, it does.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: You don't deserve to win $ 1, 000 if you don't text fact.
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: Well, I mean, yeah. Yeah, just do it again, though.
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: The window is still open. Just text back.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you can still text back again.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: I think both of those were facts, by the way,
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: so I appreciate your support.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: We do keep track of how many agree with you,
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: like 86%, 83%, 50%.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: We do.
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: We've had a very good percentage on this show.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: Yes, we have. We've been at 80% pretty regularly.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: Greg, soak that stump in Epsom salt and warm water, 206.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Thank you. I will try that. At this point, I'll
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: just try anything.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: I mean, I have Epsom salt underneath my sink just
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: in case.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: I do too. Yeah.
- 1:11:08Speaker 11: 425.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: In trading Drew Locke, it's because he's on a one-year contract. Well,
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: he's finishing the second of a two-year contract, but yeah,
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: the last is in a contract year. And he wants
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: to go start somewhere. He's played well enough where he's
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: going to get offered something somewhere. You might as well
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: trade him for something before you lose him for nothing
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: but insurance. Well, they could get him for a comp
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: pick based on how much his salary is currently worth
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: and playing time. Now, The playing time is going to
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: go way down when Sam Darnold's healthy again, of course.
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: But he wants to be here. He re-signed for a reason. 253.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Do you think John Schneider did the right thing by
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: not re-signing Kenneth Walker?
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: I'm not sure about that. That's a good question. That's
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: a valuation of the running back situation.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: The running back position and how much money you're willing
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: to commit to it is they made a valuation decision
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: that they didn't want to commit 15 million or more
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: a year to that position. And there's injury history and
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: health declining after a certain age history and precedent behind it.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: And they have a ton of studies on this and
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: that some of their football decisions are made by those
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: kinds of studies. So that was at play there. And
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: the chiefs gave them something that they weren't willing to pay.
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: And now, yes, with Andy Reed using them all over
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: the place and all kinds of He never got in Seattle.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: It's looking like, well, wait a minute. And with Jadarian
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Price with his shoulder injury, we'll see how long Price
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: is out.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: But we'll see. I know why they did it. I
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: didn't expect them to pay the money.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: The Chiefs did pay Kenneth Walker, and now he's thriving
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: in Kansas City.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: So it's an obvious question. We'll see how this season
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: plays out. But as of right now, no, I don't
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: think he made a mistake in doing that. Up next,
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Ian Furness. He is not injured. He did not get
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: it burned by a pop tart. He did not step
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: on a sea urchin.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: It seems to be bleep rose downhill.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: Yes. He is up next. It tells us on his show,
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: 12 to 3 on 93.3 KJR FM. Welcome back. Greg Bell,
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Jessamyn McIntyre. Joined now by Ian Furness.
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: We were joined earlier by Jory Epstein, the Yahoo Sports
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: senior NFL writer.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: She talked about a ton of things. We covered like
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: 10 teams there in 25 minutes.
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: She knows it all.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: So if you missed that, go to the iHeartRadio app,
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: download it for free if you haven't already. 933KJR or
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: our website, 933KJR. com. Our factor fiction pick, the window's just
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: closing now. Jessamyn said, Panthers minus two and a half
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: at Browns. If you agree with her, text FACT to 49451.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: If you disagree, text FICTION to 49451. Hello, sir, with
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: your Kraken hoodie on.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: How are you? I'm well, thanks.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: I'm going to ask you the same question I asked
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: the listeners at the top of the show. Would you
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: start Drew Locke on Sunday in Washington against a winless
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: team with a backup quarterback and give Sam Darnold another week,
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: or you'd start Darnold as soon as he's.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Ready to go?
- 1:13:59Speaker 12: Are we assuming Darnold's healthy?
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: We don't know that yet. But yes, we would assume
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: that Darnold was healthy. For the question's purposes. I think.
- 1:14:13Speaker 12: I would probably start Locke.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: I would too.
- 1:14:16Speaker 12: Yeah. All things being equal, I just– you should be
- 1:14:21Speaker 12: able to take– I mean, it's just so hard because
- 1:14:23Speaker 12: the NFL is just such a finite thing. Like that
- 1:14:24Speaker 12: one game can mean everything.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:14:26Speaker 12: But what you've seen with Drew Locke is he can
- 1:14:28Speaker 12: win football games.
- 1:14:29Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:14:29Speaker 12: And you're going against– I mean, if you just say
- 1:14:31Speaker 12: it's Locke versus Mariota, it's easy answer. You have the advantage.
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:14:36Speaker 12: You're a better football team all the way around.
- 1:14:39Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: I agree. I agree.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Now, the second question that's been brought up, Chuck asked
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: me this morning at 7 o'clock, and it got up
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: on the text line just a minute ago.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Would you actively seek a trade for Drew Locke after
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Sam Darnold comes back?
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: No.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:14:54Speaker 12: Wait, that's a question?
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: That's how we felt, yeah.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: It's become one, apparently, yes. I said the same thing
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: this morning to Chuck.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: I was like, wait a minute, you're going to trade
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: away the advantage you have, a huge advantage as a
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: backup quarterback who can win?
- 1:15:06Speaker 12: Sam Darnold, Caleb Williams, Jackson Dart, Jayden Daniels, Kyler Murray,
- 1:15:09Speaker 12: Tua Tagovai. guys are all hurt this year. Like, all
- 1:15:14Speaker 12: those guys are hurt. And Jackson Dart might be out
- 1:15:16Speaker 12: for the year.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Like, no.
- 1:15:20Speaker 12: That's not even a question.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: Well, of course, the question comes up, of course, is
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: because Locke's in the last year of his contract, but
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: that's nothing new there.
- 1:15:27Speaker 12: It's the win-now league.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Yes, it is.
- 1:15:29Speaker 12: It's a win-now league. This is not, you're not developing,
- 1:15:33Speaker 12: this is a win-now league with a Super Bowl, defending
- 1:15:35Speaker 12: Super Bowl champion.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: No.
- 1:15:36Speaker 12: I don't even think that's even a question. I agree.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Now, Chuck asked me, what if you can get a
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: second or third round pick?
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: Who cares?
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: And I said, I don't think you can get it. Well,
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: they have like 11 picks next year, don't they?
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:15:46Speaker 12: Yeah, like, no.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: I don't even think if they had six picks, they
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: should do it.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: And I don't think they'd get that high of a
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: pick for him either.
- 1:15:54Speaker 12: We have seen how fragile that position is. Like last night,
- 1:16:00Speaker 12: that game wasn't competitive when Jackson Dart went out.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:16:03Speaker 12: It just wasn't competitive.
- 1:16:04Speaker 8: Why?
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Because the Giants don't have a backup quarterback as good
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: as the Seahawks do.
- 1:16:08Speaker 12: And Jameis Winston is a backup for a reason, but
- 1:16:12Speaker 12: not even, you know, and in his defense, you're going
- 1:16:14Speaker 12: against the Rams defense, thrown into the fire. But even then, no.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: I can't believe that's a question, to be honest with you. Well,
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: that came up twice already this morning with me. All right,
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: what do you got on the show today? I don't know.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: I don't know, man.
- 1:16:31Speaker 12: I'm just trying to wrap my arms around that one.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought I just dropped that on you.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: He threw a brain teaser into you.
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: I agree with 206. Drew Locke is a massive advantage
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: for the Seahawks this season, clearly. Just ask the 87-92 49ers,
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: which also happen to win back-to-back Super Bowls.
- 1:16:45Speaker 12: Did anybody watch the Atlanta game on Sunday? Like, they
- 1:16:48Speaker 12: went down to QB4.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:16:51Speaker 12: Like, they're non-competitive right now. I mean, to the point
- 1:16:55Speaker 12: where they're kind of forcing Pennix back in.
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: It's... That just exhausted Ian before his show.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: It is a Tuesday between Sunday games, and that could
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: be part.
- 1:17:07Speaker 12: Of it as well. We're getting a little college football
- 1:17:10Speaker 12: in the first hour today.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:17:12Speaker 12: A couple things. Boy, Softy said something on Twitter last night.
- 1:17:15Speaker 12: I couldn't agree with him more. God, this is Nicole Auerbach.
- 1:17:17Speaker 12: Just if you hate the sport, why are you covering it?
- 1:17:20Speaker 12: We'll get into that a little bit at, God, and
- 1:17:23Speaker 12: it's a week that this, I'm going to feel, I've
- 1:17:25Speaker 12: never felt this dirty. I think I'm rooting hard for
- 1:17:26Speaker 12: Oregon this week. Or I mean, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
- 1:17:29Speaker 12: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. USC, USC, USC, USC. Normally I
- 1:17:33Speaker 12: root for Oregon because Oregon and Washington, because Washington hates Oregon.
- 1:17:36Speaker 12: So that makes me like Oregon. Not anymore. We'll get
- 1:17:38Speaker 12: to that in a little bit.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: USC-Oregon this weekend.
- 1:17:40Speaker 12: Yeah, huge game. So college football, the Cougs talking Cougs,
- 1:17:44Speaker 12: MK and Alex at 1220. We'll get our guy Joe Sheehan,
- 1:17:47Speaker 12: probably his second-to-last visit, coming up at 120 today. And
- 1:17:51Speaker 12: John Lund, he's all happy. 49ers athletic power rankings apparently
- 1:17:56Speaker 12: is his favorite thing now because he got the 49ers
- 1:17:57Speaker 12: ranked number one, so he's all revved up about that.
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: 49ers, Niners, Niners.
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: I miss Lund.
- 1:18:02Speaker 12: Yeah, so we'll get to all that coming up today.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: He is a Bang Bang Niner gang guy, isn't he?
- 1:18:06Speaker 12: Well, he worked for him, so I guess I can.
- 1:18:08Speaker 12: And he does radio at KMBR in the Bay Area,
- 1:18:12Speaker 12: so I can see it. But, yeah, we'll get into that.
- 1:18:14Speaker 12: All that coming up.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: He ends up next 12 until 3. Greg Bell, Jessalyn McIntyre,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: appreciate you. We'll do it again tomorrow. I'll have the
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: pick tomorrow on Factor Fiction.
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: Ian's pick is a 235 for a chance to win
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: $ 1, 000 from the Lucky Eagle.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Casino and Hotel.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: Thanks for listening. Thanks for all the text and talk back.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: Thanks for the anecdotes and ideas about my infected sea
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: urchin foot.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: He ends up next on 93.3.
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: Things you don't hear on radio every day.
- 1:18:39Speaker 8: KJRFM.
