- 2:42Speaker 4: nine hundred cc monster and you're talking about your little
- 2:45Speaker 4: parade bike.
- 2:48Speaker 2: It goes back to being triggered though.
- 2:50Speaker 4: So my me and my wife when we were dating,
- 2:52Speaker 4: we went to Nantucket, right and we got out one
- 2:54Speaker 4: of those mopez to check out the beaches.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Did you dumbed it?

- 3:18Speaker 4: boat pen with my wife on the back.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was a lot of time I.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Was on a moped, was in Key West and me

- 3:36Speaker 1: Really just a race. Oh my god. That's when I
- 3:40Speaker 1: saw one of the funniest things ever. There's this guy.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He's at the there in the like they had like.
- 3:45Speaker 3: A beautiful little patio on the place because there's really
- 3:47Speaker 3: no beach there.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's kind of like Rocky in Key West.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And they had these beautiful embroidered pillows at the hotel.
- 3:53Speaker 5: And this wife is just leaning into this dude.
- 3:57Speaker 3: You pieces shit, And me and my buddy are sitting
- 4:02Speaker 3: there on her scooter so we can see what's going.
- 4:04Speaker 5: On, like a little walkway by the little sand thing
- 4:06Speaker 5: that they had.
- 4:07Speaker 1: He gets up, takes.
- 4:09Speaker 3: His pillow off of his like little couchy thing, puts

- 4:24Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:25Speaker 3: And I look at my buddy and I'm like, yep, back,
- 4:28Speaker 3: Like I said, enough people saw it.
- 4:30Speaker 1: We don't got to get involved.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Because that dude is literally triggered, punched not her right out.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Why did he need the pillow part? I guess he
- 4:39Speaker 2: doesn't mark up the face Jesus. Yeah, bro, that's some
- 4:42Speaker 2: of that.
- 4:43Speaker 1: That's something he definitely hit her before. Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Well that's how I was getting at it. Yeah, wow, Yeah, man,

- 5:14Speaker 4: she had to make a little decision, just a certain
- 5:19Speaker 4: assert her aggression. Right, She's just trying to show us
- 5:22Speaker 4: that she's still in charge.
- 5:24Speaker 2: There was no reason to go in this lane.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Oh my god.

- 16:08Speaker 10: No, exactly, He's gonna this is literally it was gonna
- 16:13Speaker 10: be the worst showing ever had.
- 16:15Speaker 1: This is our last time, Glory, take a picture.
- 16:18Speaker 5: I'm just gonna walk in and just go dead in it.
- 16:20Speaker 1: And I'm just gonna go.
- 16:24Speaker 7: I'll use that new knife to play, all right, Gloria
- 16:27Speaker 7: explaining the pizza. So the pizza, just as the pictures
- 16:30Speaker 7: show here, he's a pretty cool nineteen twenty five it
- 16:32Speaker 7: started that doesn't its No, Well, when you take a
- 16:36Speaker 7: bite of it, you'll be impressed.
- 16:37Speaker 2: But the clam pizza.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Is you know what they were doing in nineteen twenty five.
- 16:41Speaker 4: They couldn't figure out ice yet and refrigerators.
- 16:45Speaker 7: Maybe your people, but a people figured it out.
- 16:47Speaker 4: You did figure No one figured out the ice thing
- 16:49Speaker 4: in nineteen twenty five, selling it whatever, Carl explain ice
- 16:54Speaker 4: to Gloria.
- 16:55Speaker 1: No one figured out the ice.
- 16:56Speaker 7: They take it a pizza and pizza lasts longer than nights.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Okay, just say so, just because it's been around since
- 17:01Speaker 4: nineteen twenty five.
- 17:02Speaker 7: It's the fact that it's a very thin crust. You
- 17:04Speaker 7: will not see it's not cut in eight or six
- 17:07Speaker 7: or twelve. It's just an odd shaped pizza.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Okay, tan formed, Okay.
- 17:12Speaker 7: It is absolutely crispy and delicious, and the clam pizza
- 17:15Speaker 7: is like no other nobody else has.
- 17:17Speaker 1: It's pretz eighty years ago was nothing special. It was
- 17:20Speaker 1: just like every other pizza because everyone used coal ovens
- 17:22Speaker 1: just like they do here.
- 17:23Speaker 10: But as there's some things that are special from the beginning,
- 17:27Speaker 10: and there's some things that stand the test of time
- 17:29Speaker 10: and become special because of omission.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Right, So all the pizzerias like this have disappeared.
- 17:35Speaker 10: So that's why it's like the last one of this stuff.
- 17:39Speaker 10: And they probably make a clampis a white clampi, which
- 17:42Speaker 10: is one of the most delicious things de ever tastes.
- 17:44Speaker 2: But why why are pizzerias like this disappearing?
- 17:47Speaker 6: At addition, Huh, the labor is different, right, so what
- 17:52Speaker 6: they make, You know, what it costs to make a
- 17:54Speaker 6: pizza here is really expensive because those ovens they're not
- 17:57Speaker 6: powered by gas.
- 17:58Speaker 1: They're powered by it like a like a steamship or
- 18:02Speaker 1: anything like that.
- 18:02Speaker 6: Right, So the amount of labor, the amount of heat,
- 18:06Speaker 6: the amount of decay that these.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Ovens get is very high. It's very it's cost prohibitive.
- 18:11Speaker 1: You know.
- 18:11Speaker 10: You can get a deck oven, like a blotting deck
- 18:14Speaker 10: of it. Over the last thirty years, this thing you have.
- 18:16Speaker 5: To regrout the bricks every six months.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I mean, you're really blowing this thing apart.
- 18:21Speaker 10: It's a brick box that you're manually bringing up to
- 18:24Speaker 10: six hundred degrees wow.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And you don't shut it off right so that things
- 18:28Speaker 1: that thing's literally you're building a fire inside of your
- 18:31Speaker 1: restaurant for eighty years. So the dough is very tricky?
- 18:36Speaker 2: Can I but what why does it make the pizza
- 18:39Speaker 2: so much better?
- 18:41Speaker 1: These are real questions now I'm not being you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: it makes the pizza better because what happens is the
- 18:45Speaker 1: deck it's.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Hot in it's very natural way, right right comb.
- 18:48Speaker 10: The deck is the floor of the of the right right,
- 18:52Speaker 10: and you get this.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's almost like the carcinogens.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Of the of the of the wood or coal whatever
- 18:58Speaker 3: is burning a flavor. It's like the difference between smoking
- 19:03Speaker 3: a piece of meat with propaine or smoking it with.
- 19:05Speaker 6: Would Right, All these small little nuances go into a
- 19:09Speaker 6: dough a dose like a blank canvas, so it'll absorb
- 19:13Speaker 6: anything in its environment.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So what you're basically doing is.
- 19:17Speaker 6: You're taking it and this dough is going in their raw,
- 19:19Speaker 6: and then it's taking a snapshot of eighty years of history.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I love how you explain it almost years.
- 19:27Speaker 7: I mean, when you think about it, have they been
- 19:28Speaker 7: doing this?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:29Speaker 7: And it's all still family owned, which I think is
- 19:32Speaker 7: another anomaly in the industry. You don't grow this many
- 19:36Speaker 7: restaurants still under one family.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You're up to I think restaurants now.
- 19:40Speaker 4: But don't you think someone in that family down the
- 19:43Speaker 4: line wanted to do something else.
- 19:44Speaker 2: And they couldn't because they're the pizza family.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I mean, that's how it used to be.
- 19:48Speaker 7: That's a burden that's being part of that family.
- 19:51Speaker 1: It's an obligation.
- 19:52Speaker 7: But the quality, when you take one bite, it's life changing.
- 19:57Speaker 1: It's very good, all right, I'm looking forward to eating it, man,
- 20:00Speaker 1: You're really good. Once you take a bite, you're gonna read.
- 20:02Speaker 7: Like the tomato pie they do. They only do during
- 20:03Speaker 7: the summer because they only use the freshest tomatoes that
- 20:06Speaker 7: they have.
- 20:08Speaker 1: They which is I mean the regular pizza mode I
- 20:13Speaker 1: take it.
- 20:14Speaker 2: You know how we were talking to my wife in
- 20:16Speaker 2: the car.
- 20:17Speaker 1: She just texted' right.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Lost lost you queers go back to kissing.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's the best. All right, we'll waiting
- 20:38Speaker 1: for the pizza.
- 20:38Speaker 7: And the other thing is they feature local soda too.
- 20:41Speaker 7: It's this small box and park which is just a
- 20:45Speaker 7: local Connecticut soda company out of East Saven And they're
- 20:48Speaker 7: just cool flavors, the orange like a birch beer.
- 20:51Speaker 5: It's just really really good stuff.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Way, I wouldn't mind. Do they have root beer.
- 20:54Speaker 2: We're their flavors.
- 20:56Speaker 1: No, I want to try that.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Get your little sofa.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It's a special little company.
- 21:02Speaker 2: It is here.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It is.
- 21:05Speaker 7: Cola white birch spear roopier cream. All of you orange
- 21:12Speaker 7: ginger ale.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Drink a glass of No, you get nothing.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I'm getting up. I'm gonna sit down. I'll be up
- 21:24Speaker 1: and put you down.
- 21:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna put you down like a bad dog. What
- 21:27Speaker 5: she told me, I get nothing, so I had to
- 21:29Speaker 5: stand up.
- 21:29Speaker 1: She'll give you anything. She's just trying to be funny.
- 21:32Speaker 3: If she doesn't give you, which you want to, I'll
- 21:35Speaker 3: be the first to put her down.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yellow allra just pointing out our tail.
- 21:43Speaker 2: This is this us?
- 21:46Speaker 5: Wow wow, wow.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Thank you so much. That's the clam pie. Huh. It's
- 21:54Speaker 1: a little hot. Let me take a picture. We're going
- 21:57Speaker 1: to steam coming off this thing.
- 21:59Speaker 7: Regular learn right in the charring from the oven.
- 22:02Speaker 8: Yeah, it looks beautiful, all right, Carls taking a picture
- 22:07Speaker 8: for his Instagram.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Some more chef on the Instagram.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That looks so good. That wasn't there? You go?
- 22:14Speaker 5: It might be too hot though, it gonna be too hot.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It's literally like the ocean.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It's unbelievab. That is awesome.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Which one of the I told you the.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Wrong. I was just messing around. Yeah, thank you very much,
- 22:38Speaker 2: thank you.
- 22:38Speaker 4: I appreciate the roop here all right.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Wow wow wow wow.
- 22:47Speaker 7: Christy delicious.
- 22:48Speaker 2: We're gonnat pizza.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Right, it's enough to show up shutting down, shutting down
- 22:54Speaker 4: for a little bit.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Joey, you're breaking my heart. I'll send one to Dallas
- 22:58Speaker 1: for you. Buddy. Jolley, you are love this place.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I'd be weeping with my mouth full. All right, we
- 23:07Speaker 2: just destroyed a clam pie at Pepe's.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I need a nap. That pizza was ridiculous. Keep it
- 23:17Speaker 1: in a car for a kid.
- 23:19Speaker 8: I'm coming back here on the way home, Yeah, to
- 23:22Speaker 8: get another pie, and I'm going to get a tomato
- 23:25Speaker 8: pie for the fam.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Oh my god, we destroyed that pie.
- 23:33Speaker 5: Hope you ate like a savage? Yeah, yeah, down your
- 23:39Speaker 5: dream Barbie microphone.
- 23:42Speaker 4: I love how you posted a picture from Pepe's or
- 23:44Speaker 4: the pizza that we're eating, and what somebody had a complain.
- 23:48Speaker 5: There's always a complaints.
- 23:51Speaker 2: What would they say it?
- 23:52Speaker 6: But then you go on their Instagram and they're literally
- 23:54Speaker 6: eating beeferoni in their house.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Like it's just like but they were trying to say
- 23:58Speaker 4: that Pepe is across the cross.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Is too burnt.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And what did you say to that guy?
- 24:02Speaker 5: I said, this is not yelp. Thanks, it's not yelp.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Stop it now?
- 24:07Speaker 2: All right, Gloria, that was a perfect pizza.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It was a perfect pizza.
- 24:10Speaker 8: Yes, all right, Gloria, we're following you to ESPN.
- 24:15Speaker 5: What happened?
- 24:15Speaker 1: I think let's wait for.
- 24:18Speaker 7: Thirty one miles away.
- 24:20Speaker 5: All right, let's go, all right, let's go next stop, ESPN.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Oh that's your choice. I did today the slides in
- 24:30Speaker 2: the rain. I'm a little damp in the short.
- 24:35Speaker 4: All right, back in the car.
- 24:39Speaker 2: On our way to Eesp. What Jesus soap? That was
- 24:45Speaker 2: good ship? Huh, that was amazing. That was worth the detour.
- 24:49Speaker 5: You ate, well, you want me to hold a podcast room,
- 24:52Speaker 5: Let's give it a shot. No you are?
- 24:56Speaker 2: You said in there, this is one of the few
- 24:57Speaker 2: things you actually crave.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's just so unique in flavor.
- 25:03Speaker 3: My two favorite clampie is one is Lombards in New
- 25:05Speaker 3: York on Mott Street and then this, uh, the peppies.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Unbelievable, just.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I mean this, and it's funny.
- 25:15Speaker 3: The peppies crust to me, doesn't hold up well to
- 25:18Speaker 3: traditional like tomato. You know, I've had better pizzas, like
- 25:22Speaker 3: standard pizzas, but they just get the clampis right.
- 25:26Speaker 2: They just get it right open.
- 25:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Well, they know they know how to use their garlic because,
- 25:31Speaker 4: like I said in there, it's so easy to go overboard.
- 25:34Speaker 4: You're right, if you overboard on garlic, you could ruin
- 25:36Speaker 4: a dish very easily.
- 25:37Speaker 2: They had just enough garlic on that white clay. The money.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It was like tasting the ocean. It was incredible, if
- 25:46Speaker 2: that makes sense. Where's Gloria. Oh there she is. I
- 25:54Speaker 2: don't know why it makes me laugh. She's she's so annoyed,
- 25:59Speaker 2: she can't and she don't make up ship.
- 26:03Speaker 5: She loves me. There's enough real stuff to make fun
- 26:07Speaker 5: of me.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Gloria loves me. Gloria. She doesn't like when we beat
- 26:18Speaker 2: better like that? But what are you gonna do? So
- 26:25Speaker 2: let's go through my instagram right now?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Right, so I posted I.

- 26:57Speaker 2: that place look pretty original with me.

- 27:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Are you at the og
- 27:13Speaker 1: New Haven location?
- 27:14Speaker 3: I posted that I'm in Danbarry, but it's my numbing
- 27:17Speaker 3: and this is what makes you snap at social media?
- 27:20Speaker 2: You know what I mean.

- 28:12Speaker 1: don't know who he is.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yours looks way better.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Oh he's talking about the one that that I was handed,
- 28:18Speaker 3: the garbage that we were handed for twenty one dollars.
- 28:22Speaker 2: That pie was ridiculous. End of stories. All right, this
- 28:25Speaker 2: is not yelp. Thanks, yeah, of course, look at the
- 28:29Speaker 2: look at the girls.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Damn, that looks good.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Little heart emojis.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Give you a few hearts, give me hard. Sometimes they
- 28:35Speaker 1: give me kisses, which I don't even have anything to
- 28:36Speaker 1: do with the people.
- 28:37Speaker 2: The hearts are like, thanks for sharing, Thanks for sharing.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Hashtag pizza Nirvana, thank you very much.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Nice and easy.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, I.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Have a new name for Vagina lamp Pi. Someone wrote that, Yeah,
- 28:52Speaker 5: it's but it still works.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Some of the hack stuff still works.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Hack it up.
- 29:01Speaker 5: To your heart's content.
- 29:05Speaker 2: To good.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Look, I gotta focus on Gloria, the speed demons and
- 29:11Speaker 4: two wheels.
- 29:12Speaker 2: We just left Pepe's. I'm already five cars behind her.
- 29:15Speaker 2: She drives like double O five. I didn't even know
- 29:24Speaker 2: what that means.
- 29:25Speaker 3: It's just funny, that's just nonsense.
- 29:29Speaker 2: I was well behaved at Pepe's.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Weird trying to got weird.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I had to. I had had to talking to you. No,
- 29:34Speaker 2: that was easy. That was easy to.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Think of it because the rain and everything, and then
- 29:39Speaker 1: I go in there and you're.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Fucking rainbow brighton there. No, I was well.
- 29:43Speaker 4: I was getting mad because it was a little loud
- 29:45Speaker 4: and we're trying to work on the sound for the podcast,
- 29:48Speaker 4: and there was a little echoing.
- 29:49Speaker 5: And but no one knows what well.
- 29:51Speaker 4: I was gonna tell everybody nicely, but you fucking wouldn't
- 29:54Speaker 4: let me do that.
- 29:55Speaker 2: You dropped your readers, so then I did the The.
- 29:59Speaker 5: Jeesus works every time that works on me.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I Stay Quiet.
- 30:04Speaker 9: The Road to Bristol in real time on Opie Radio
