- 2:51Speaker 3: Joe Scarborough from a Brighter Futures Learning the Academy. He
- 2:53Speaker 3: is here to talk about that. Coming up a little
- 2:55Speaker 3: bit later on as well. Our good friend Doug Irwin
- 2:57Speaker 3: is here. Doug has been stopping by for the last
- 2:59Speaker 3: couple of years of talk about a program called backpack Buddies,
- 3:02Speaker 3: and he joins us Now, Doug, welcome to the show.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Good morning, thank you for being here. Thank you so
- 3:07Speaker 3: for people that aren't familiar. We how many years you've been?
- 3:10Speaker 3: How many years you've been coming on my show? Like
- 3:11Speaker 3: two or three? I guess it's probably our third year,
- 3:13Speaker 3: third year, and how and we'll get into what the
- 3:16Speaker 3: backpack Buddy program is, But how did the how long
- 3:19Speaker 3: has the program been going on?
- 3:20Speaker 5: This is actually our thirteenth year supporting kids in Putnam County,
- 3:24Speaker 5: and we've actually had an active program in Boom County
- 3:27Speaker 5: as well, and this will be our eleventh year there. Okay,
- 3:29Speaker 5: And when they explain how the program works, well, what
- 3:32Speaker 5: we do is that a lot of schools in our
- 3:35Speaker 5: community have programs during the school year that send extra
- 3:39Speaker 5: food home with kids during the school year. On Friday,
- 3:42Speaker 5: that send home a little extra things to help them
- 3:44Speaker 5: get through the through the weekend they can come back
- 3:47Speaker 5: and a lot of our kids are supported by free
- 3:50Speaker 5: and reduced lunches in their schools, So just a little
- 3:53Speaker 5: bit of extra food to help them tie over the
- 3:55Speaker 5: weekend to get back to school on Monday, to have
- 4:00Speaker 5: breakfast and lunch at school. And one of the things
- 4:03Speaker 5: that we identified was that there was not much being
- 4:06Speaker 5: able to be done during this during the summer months.
- 4:08Speaker 5: You know, a lot of programs have tried to do things,
- 4:11Speaker 5: but logistically it just didn't work out for them for
- 4:15Speaker 5: one reason or another, where a parent might be working,
- 4:18Speaker 5: couldn't meet at a certain time to pick up the
- 4:20Speaker 5: extra supplies, or didn't have a car, didn't have gas.
- 4:25Speaker 3: For that particular week.
- 4:26Speaker 5: So what we did is we developed a program which
- 4:29Speaker 5: we actually pack boxes of food and we eliminate the
- 4:33Speaker 5: logistics part of it because we mail the food to
- 4:36Speaker 5: our participating students and we work very closely with the
- 4:39Speaker 5: school systems to help identify and get these kids signed
- 4:43Speaker 5: up that received the received the support during the school year,
- 4:47Speaker 5: and we continue that through the summer. And I'll tell you,
- 4:50Speaker 5: we've got a lot of great community partners that really
- 4:53Speaker 5: care and take care of our kids during the school year,
- 4:56Speaker 5: and what we're kind of stepping into that gap for
- 4:58Speaker 5: the summertime and kind of given those folks a break
- 5:02Speaker 5: to say, hey, recharge your batteries because they're working thirty
- 5:05Speaker 5: six weeks out of the year because of the school,
- 5:08Speaker 5: how long the school year is, and we help out
- 5:10Speaker 5: during the summer months where we pack our boxes and
- 5:13Speaker 5: uh we will mail will mail boxes four to five
- 5:16Speaker 5: times during the school during the summer months and then
- 5:19Speaker 5: to help those hope, those participating kids bridge that gap
- 5:23Speaker 5: during the summer months and.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Talk about that. Uh, you're working with the school system
- 5:29Speaker 3: on this, and as as far as getting getting the
- 5:31Speaker 3: kid because as as you said, not every not every
- 5:33Speaker 3: kid gets or not every kid needs one really or
- 5:36Speaker 3: their family doesn't need one. How does that process go
- 5:39Speaker 3: when you're working with the schools.
- 5:40Speaker 5: We start we start back in March and talking with
- 5:44Speaker 5: our counselors and support staff in our school systems, and
- 5:48Speaker 5: we offer we have a great communication system within in
- 5:52Speaker 5: the within the schools, and that we offer it to
- 5:55Speaker 5: everybody because we just because we really truly do not
- 5:59Speaker 5: know what's going on by on somebody's closed door, maybe
- 6:01Speaker 5: somebody hit a rough spot, and our program is offered
- 6:04Speaker 5: to everyone. And then once we get near the end
- 6:08Speaker 5: of the sign up period, we communicate with our stat
- 6:11Speaker 5: with our counselors that support us and say, hey, these
- 6:16Speaker 5: are the folks that we have signed up. You know
- 6:18Speaker 5: who who's getting the program during the school year. Please
- 6:22Speaker 5: make sure that they get signed up and they work
- 6:24Speaker 5: very closely with those families and those get those families
- 6:28Speaker 5: signed up so that we can continue the support during
- 6:30Speaker 5: the summertime.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Now, the reason I actually have you on today is
- 6:33Speaker 3: not only to talk about the program, but talk about
- 6:36Speaker 3: this event that you've got going on this Saturday, because
- 6:41Speaker 3: as you could imagine, this takes a lot of work
- 6:44Speaker 3: to put this together, and you actually brought me what
- 6:48Speaker 3: one of the boxes actually looks like. I'll try to
- 6:50Speaker 3: get a picture that posted on social media. So talk
- 6:52Speaker 3: about the event on Saturday. What we've done, this will
- 6:55Speaker 3: be our we haven't what we call our annual community
- 6:58Speaker 3: packing Days. What we do is we ask everybody, everybody
- 7:02Speaker 3: in the community on June the seventh, Saturday, we'll be
- 7:05Speaker 3: at the Tayes Valley Nazarene Church there on Tayese Valley
- 7:09Speaker 3: Road and where we'll pack all of our boxes that
- 7:12Speaker 3: we'll be sending out this summer. We'll be sending out
- 7:15Speaker 3: over three thousand boxes this summer alone for the Putnam
- 7:19Speaker 3: County region. And what we'll do is we'll have we
- 7:22Speaker 3: have we've got about eighteen thousand cans of ravioli coming
- 7:26Speaker 3: and that's a lot of ravioli. That's a lot of ravioli.
- 7:30Speaker 5: And we got soup, soup, vegetables, fruit, ramen, noodles, cereal bars.
- 7:37Speaker 5: We've got all all of our supplies will be there.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Uh and we've got all of the boxes ready to go.
- 7:42Speaker 5: And what we do is we ask ask our community
- 7:44Speaker 5: to come and help us pack our boxes. We'll start
- 7:46Speaker 5: at ten o'clock and this is at the Tayes Valley
- 7:49Speaker 5: Church of Nazarene, Tayses Valley Church in the Nazarene. We'll
- 7:51Speaker 5: line it up on the parking lot. We'll start at
- 7:53Speaker 5: ten o'clock. We'll have community service certificates for all of
- 7:56Speaker 5: the students that come and participate. So we invite all teams, clubs,
- 8:00Speaker 5: any student that would love to come and help. We
- 8:03Speaker 5: say that we've got a job for everybody from two
- 8:05Speaker 5: to ninety two years old, so we can actually put
- 8:09Speaker 5: everybody to work. And we start at ten o'clock and
- 8:12Speaker 5: everybody will be by I promise you'll be back in
- 8:14Speaker 5: your car by by noon heading home. So give us
- 8:17Speaker 5: two hours and you'll be helping over eight hundred kids
- 8:20Speaker 5: this summer.
- 8:20Speaker 3: How many how many volunteers. Ideally, do you need If
- 8:24Speaker 3: we could have two three hundred folks, we can knock
- 8:27Speaker 3: this out pretty quick. Yeah, And he said it's great
- 8:29Speaker 3: for because students in West Virginia are required to do
- 8:32Speaker 3: community service in order to graduate, so it's great for them.
- 8:35Speaker 3: It would be great for civic organizations, your Rotary club, Kawanas,
- 8:39Speaker 3: Lions Club, that sort of thing, any any of these groups.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Absolutely, and we'd encourage them to wear your team shirts
- 8:44Speaker 5: and they can. We've got companies that come every year
- 8:48Speaker 5: and they make it a team building event for them
- 8:52Speaker 5: and we have a great time. We've got we have
- 8:54Speaker 5: a DJ playing some music and it's just a great
- 8:57Speaker 5: community event that comes to get there to help our
- 9:01Speaker 5: kids that that are less fortunate.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Talk to Doug Irwin again from the Backpack Buddy program

- 9:25Speaker 3: easy to find. If you're coming from Charleston and you
- 9:28Speaker 3: take the Tayse Valley exit, you hang a left and
- 9:30Speaker 3: go what a mile two miles.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Up the road two miles stops right before if you
- 9:35Speaker 5: go past the hospital you've gone to.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's and it's right there on the left.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You can't miss. You've got a huge parking lot, easy on,

- 9:51Speaker 3: room to work there. And if you get your two
- 9:53Speaker 3: or three hundred volunteers, you could easily you easily put
- 9:57Speaker 3: them all there.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Absolutely, And if we we run out of parking, we've
- 10:01Speaker 5: worked with Raindy Hodges at CEMC and we'll be having
- 10:06Speaker 5: some overflow parking across the street at the at the
- 10:08Speaker 5: new uh, the new facility they have there, so we'll
- 10:12Speaker 5: have we've got plenty of parking for everybody, and uh
- 10:16Speaker 5: just invite everybody to come out and just it's it's
- 10:19Speaker 5: just truly has developed into a great community event.

- 10:44Speaker 5: supporting the kids in Boom County as well.
- 10:46Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Doug Irwin from Backpack Buddies. Where can

- 11:03Speaker 5: we can come to we can come and.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Talk to other communities as well.
- 11:07Speaker 5: You know, we've got Is this a silver bullet, Absolutely not,
- 11:11Speaker 5: but it does help kids And we hit a milestone
- 11:14Speaker 5: last year in our twelfth year, we mailed our fifty
- 11:16Speaker 5: thousandth box to students to students last year, so you know,
- 11:21Speaker 5: in our first twelve years, we've gotten fifty thousand boxes
- 11:23Speaker 5: out into hands of kids and there's about fifteen pounds
- 11:26Speaker 5: of food in each box, and you know over seven
- 11:29Speaker 5: hundred thousand pounds of food have been mailed out to
- 11:32Speaker 5: kids in our in our community.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And when you go to the website, if somebody's listening

- 14:46Speaker 3: what Doug and the folks were talking about, not quite
- 14:48Speaker 3: on that large of a scale yet, but this Thursday,
- 14:51Speaker 3: on our parking lot here at eleven eleven Virginia Street, Decent, Charleston,
- 14:54Speaker 3: we are going to be collecting snacks, perishable non perishal
- 14:59Speaker 3: vau I should say food items. You know the way
- 15:01Speaker 3: we've done these things. We've collected socks and we've collected
- 15:03Speaker 3: items for flood victims in the past. Same setup, seven
- 15:06Speaker 3: am till six pm. All of our stations will be
- 15:09Speaker 3: out on the parking lot here. And you know, as
- 15:14Speaker 3: I said, you know how it works. It's a circular
- 15:16Speaker 3: parking lot. Actually we argue about that every year. It's
- 15:18Speaker 3: not actually circular, it's got another name. But anyway, you
- 15:21Speaker 3: pull onto the parking lot and we'll have our staff
- 15:24Speaker 3: out there, and we don't care if it's two or
- 15:26Speaker 3: three boxes of food, or if it's a few unopened
- 15:32Speaker 3: bag of chips, whatever, we don't care. Just bring it
- 15:34Speaker 3: to us where we are working with the folks at
- 15:36Speaker 3: Union Mission on that. We'll have more as we get
- 15:38Speaker 3: a little bit closer. But again, our event is going
- 15:40Speaker 3: to be Thursday morning, seven am to six pm on
- 15:43Speaker 3: our parking lot here at eleven eleven Virginia Street, East Charleston.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Let's bring in a good friend, Jill Scarborough now from
- 15:48Speaker 3: Brighter Future Learning Academy. Jill, how you doing.
- 15:51Speaker 9: I'm doing great. Dave, how are you?
- 15:53Speaker 3: I am doing fine. You got an event this Saturday
- 15:57Speaker 3: at Valley Park in a hurricane A sensory circus. What
- 16:00Speaker 3: exactly is that?
- 16:02Speaker 9: Uh, it's a whole bunch of awesome.
- 16:04Speaker 3: So it's a whole bunch of awesome, Ryan, right that Now,
- 16:06Speaker 3: it's a whole bunch of awesome.

- 16:39Speaker 9: that they will kick off a show. They'll be aerialists.
- 16:42Speaker 9: I hear there may or may not be some fire
- 16:44Speaker 9: twirling happening that that first performance will happen at twelve.
- 16:51Speaker 9: Mostly that performance is for our fundraising teams that families
- 16:55Speaker 9: have gathered together. This is a big event for our
- 16:59Speaker 9: families that they have some you know, their folks travel
- 17:02Speaker 9: in from out of state to join them, to walk
- 17:06Speaker 9: together with their kids to demonstrate, hey, this is a
- 17:10Speaker 9: place where sometimes folks that are excluded are completely included
- 17:15Speaker 9: and the space is designed for you and built for you.
- 17:18Speaker 9: And we invite other people to join in. So Circus
- 17:21Speaker 9: kicktock at twelve. Then we'll lead into our awards for
- 17:25Speaker 9: our fundraising teams and our corporate teams, and then we'll
- 17:28Speaker 9: do the Century Walk through Valley Park, which what that
- 17:32Speaker 9: looks like is we basically pimp the park but it is.
- 17:35Speaker 9: It is so cool, Dave, that we'll have I think
- 17:39Speaker 9: it's eight different tunnels that folks will walk through. One
- 17:43Speaker 9: of them is a missing tunnel, a wind tunnel, pinwheel tunnel.
- 17:48Speaker 9: So it's a completely immersive experience throughout the park and
- 17:52Speaker 9: folks walk through that and then end at the soccer
- 17:55Speaker 9: field with inflatables and just all kinds of fun. But again,
- 17:59Speaker 9: and it's a great time designed to build community. And
- 18:04Speaker 9: then we have also at two o'clock basically a second
- 18:07Speaker 9: run of show that we Then it's not specifically designed
- 18:11Speaker 9: for our fundraising teams, but it is open to everyone
- 18:16Speaker 9: and we'll ask we'll just ask for donations. Again, this
- 18:18Speaker 9: is a fundraiser. We we've got a heavy lift. You know,
- 18:21Speaker 9: takes money to do things, and so we will ask
- 18:23Speaker 9: for donations if you're able for the circus and for
- 18:27Speaker 9: the walk and for the sun and the activity.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Jill explain to us the I don't want to say difficulty.
- 18:33Speaker 3: That may not be the right word. You're you're better
- 18:35Speaker 3: at this and I am. You can explain it how
- 18:37Speaker 3: it's going to be different than a quote unquote traditional circus.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I know that's probably not the right term to use.
- 18:44Speaker 3: But you know what I'm getting at, and what it
- 18:47Speaker 3: is that some of these some of the folks that
- 18:49Speaker 3: will be taking part in this, maybe that they couldn't
- 18:51Speaker 3: that they would have difficulty handling with a more traditional circus.
- 18:55Speaker 9: Yeah, thank you for asking that, Dave. That, as you
- 18:58Speaker 9: are aware, at is a broad spectrum of both strengths
- 19:02Speaker 9: and challenges, and a lot of times, what our families
- 19:06Speaker 9: encounter when they try to do typical things that you,
- 19:10Speaker 9: as a parent and as a family would want to
- 19:11Speaker 9: be able to do with your kid, like go to
- 19:13Speaker 9: a circus, things that can be a problem is the
- 19:17Speaker 9: loud noises and the flashy lights and just being in
- 19:21Speaker 9: a crowd that that can be hard for our kids.
- 19:24Speaker 9: And so what parents also an experience is just they're
- 19:28Speaker 9: scared to do that because they don't know if their
- 19:30Speaker 9: child is going to be able to handle it. They
- 19:32Speaker 9: might have a meltdown, which is then unfortunately a lot
- 19:35Speaker 9: of times met with judgment inside eye and just you know,
- 19:39Speaker 9: the awkward awkward stairs. Right. Can you imagine like I'm
- 19:42Speaker 9: ready to go in the world because people are going
- 19:44Speaker 9: to look at me like what's wrong with you? What's
- 19:45Speaker 9: wrong with your kid? Why can't you do this, and
- 19:47Speaker 9: so all of Caer's events are specifically designed for those families, saying, look,
- 19:54Speaker 9: you know, we make accommodations for our circus seating. We've
- 19:57Speaker 9: got you know, squishy pillows and places for our kids
- 20:01Speaker 9: that may need some extra support to sit right there
- 20:04Speaker 9: up close on the ground, with some things to help
- 20:06Speaker 9: make them more comfortable. And the most part is the
- 20:10Speaker 9: best part is everybody that's there. We say, hey, this
- 20:15Speaker 9: event is designed for these kids, So meet greet them
- 20:18Speaker 9: with more kindness, greet them with more understanding. If you
- 20:21Speaker 9: see a kid that, yeah, may have a challenge, rather
- 20:24Speaker 9: than being met with side eye, lend a hand and
- 20:28Speaker 9: go hey, can I help you out there? And other
- 20:30Speaker 9: families look at each other and go yes, same girl,
- 20:32Speaker 9: me too. And so really what happens is families are
- 20:35Speaker 9: met with their community that they know they're not alone
- 20:38Speaker 9: and that they're not the only ones struggling, and other
- 20:40Speaker 9: families can learn from and lean on each other through
- 20:42Speaker 9: the process.

- 21:12Speaker 3: So what I'm hearing from you, Jill, is that a
- 21:14Speaker 3: lot of this is about it has to do with
- 21:17Speaker 3: education as well, educating, educating people, and you spent a
- 21:20Speaker 3: lot of time doing that sort of thing coming on,
- 21:23Speaker 3: you know, doing a lot of media shows like this
- 21:26Speaker 3: and doing television and whatever and social media and whatever,
- 21:29Speaker 3: educating the public on things like this.
- 21:32Speaker 9: Yes, yep. Yeah. One of the things too that we'll
- 21:34Speaker 9: have at the event is celebration signs that families, you know,
- 21:37Speaker 9: so a lot of times, especially graduation, see season, you
- 21:40Speaker 9: see the sign celebrating Yay, this graduate. We're so excited.
- 21:43Speaker 9: So we do a similar thing for our kids and
- 21:45Speaker 9: families where they'll say we're celebrating Penny because she's worked
- 21:50Speaker 9: so hard and has learned how to communicate and you
- 21:52Speaker 9: know those So we do education that way, and we
- 21:56Speaker 9: have some educational signs about what Cares does. But the
- 21:59Speaker 9: thing that we're most excited about is the sensory experience
- 22:03Speaker 9: that we have a fantastic relationship with Valley Park. So
- 22:07Speaker 9: something that's new and cool this year is that some
- 22:10Speaker 9: of the elements are going to stay up in the
- 22:12Speaker 9: park throughout the month of June, and so we invite
- 22:16Speaker 9: folks to come to the park and take a minute
- 22:19Speaker 9: and look at how cool it is the way we've
- 22:22Speaker 9: run fabric through trees and look at the lines, and
- 22:25Speaker 9: so again it's another way to try to get folks
- 22:28Speaker 9: to shift perspective and notice how it can be cool
- 22:32Speaker 9: to look at it through the lens of someone on
- 22:35Speaker 9: the autism spectrum who maybe is really interested in the
- 22:39Speaker 9: way colors shift the way things feel. And so we
- 22:42Speaker 9: invite you to come and enjoy those things too that
- 22:44Speaker 9: to go. Yes, autism and folks on the spectrum do
- 22:48Speaker 9: experience an enormous amount of challenges, but there's also some
- 22:51Speaker 9: real beauty and the way that they look at things,
- 22:53Speaker 9: and so we invite this is our opportunity to invite
- 22:56Speaker 9: the community to experience that with us.
- 22:58Speaker 3: So what do you need from the commune to be
- 23:00Speaker 3: right now? I mean, do we need to sponsorships? I
- 23:03Speaker 3: mean it's probably a little bit late for that, but
- 23:05Speaker 3: what what can what can the listeners do?
- 23:07Speaker 9: Yeah, thank you, it's again it's we need dollars. Right one.
- 23:12Speaker 9: We need you to honestly, we need you to show
- 23:13Speaker 9: up to have a great time with us and come
- 23:15Speaker 9: meet our friends and you know, learn how some things
- 23:19Speaker 9: might be different for some folks and celebrate that with us.
- 23:22Speaker 9: So that's tier one. Again, we won't turn anybody away
- 23:25Speaker 9: at these events. Yes we will ask for you know,
- 23:27Speaker 9: donations if you're able, but we just want you to
- 23:29Speaker 9: come and be with us. And then yes, Step two
- 23:32Speaker 9: is yep, we need dollars and so folks can give
- 23:35Speaker 9: on our website at wv Cares for Autism dot org.
- 23:38Speaker 9: It's there's still time you can sign up to do
- 23:41Speaker 9: the walk with us, which is a super cool experience
- 23:43Speaker 9: that you see kids just with pure joy, like look
- 23:47Speaker 9: at you know, at the at the confetti canons and all.
- 23:51Speaker 9: So just come and when right now, you know things
- 23:53Speaker 9: are especially stressful, do you want to find some joy
- 23:56Speaker 9: and just take a minute. Just show up and have
- 23:59Speaker 9: a good time with us, and if you're able to
- 24:01Speaker 9: give us some dollars, we would really appreciate.
- 24:03Speaker 3: It, all right, Jill, Where can people learn more?
- 24:05Speaker 7: Again?
- 24:07Speaker 9: WV Cares for Autism f o R not the number
- 24:10Speaker 9: four D Cares for Autism dot org.
- 24:13Speaker 3: And I hate to be the one. No pun intended
- 24:15Speaker 3: to put a cloud on this thing, but there is
- 24:17Speaker 3: some rain in the forecast on Saturday. So what's going
- 24:20Speaker 3: to happen there?
- 24:21Speaker 9: Yeah, so faithfully as them, we're tracking it right. It
- 24:24Speaker 9: mostly looks like it's going to be early in the morning, okay,
- 24:26Speaker 9: and so by you know, showtime, we should be in
- 24:29Speaker 9: the clear. But what we do an event of rain
- 24:31Speaker 9: is our activities, you know, and games and and vendors.
- 24:35Speaker 9: That all gets moved inside the conference center at Valley Park.
- 24:38Speaker 9: The walk obviously still happens outside, so you know, bring
- 24:41Speaker 9: some rain roots, bring an umbrella, be prepared. It's case
- 24:44Speaker 9: one more sentry experience right now. It's fully immersive and
- 24:47Speaker 9: now we're playing in water.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Be ready for it, all right, Jill on big shout
- 24:51Speaker 3: out to Justin and all the folks there Valley Park
- 24:53Speaker 3: for doing doing a great job as they always.
- 24:55Speaker 9: Do pastic Yeah, we so appreciate that.
- 24:57Speaker 3: All right, Jill, best luck at your this Saturday.

- 25:54Speaker 3: do want to mention, and we'll talk about it as
- 25:57Speaker 3: we get a little bit closer. But this coming third day,
- 26:01Speaker 3: we're having our event where we're collecting snacks for the
- 26:04Speaker 3: kids out on the parking lot here seven am until
- 26:07Speaker 3: six pm and we're working with the folks at Union
- 26:09Speaker 3: Mission on this, as we have done with events like
- 26:12Speaker 3: this in the past. We move all the vehicles off
- 26:14Speaker 3: the lot, set up a few tents, and we'll be
- 26:16Speaker 3: out on our parking lot eleven eleven Virginia Street's and
- 26:19Speaker 3: Charleston and we're asking you, the greatest listeners in the world,
- 26:22Speaker 3: to drop off some snack items to us, some nonperishable things,
- 26:26Speaker 3: and again we'll work with Union Mission to get it
- 26:27Speaker 3: to kids in me. I think the stat that was
- 26:31Speaker 3: floating around here is like one in five kids simply
- 26:36Speaker 3: doesn't have enough to eat, and that becomes a major
- 26:39Speaker 3: issue during during the summer months, especially school starting to
- 26:42Speaker 3: wind down if it's not already ended. So it's an
- 26:45Speaker 3: opportunity for you to help out. And we don't care
- 26:47Speaker 3: if you drop us off four or five can boxes
- 26:50Speaker 3: of food or four or five cans of food, whatever,
- 26:52Speaker 3: We'll take it. On Thursday, all of our stations are

- 31:11Speaker 3: of awesome, that's what's going on. I love her great.
- 31:14Speaker 15: She's so great.
- 31:15Speaker 3: And she talked about them pamping out the park, a

- 31:20Speaker 3: What is the reward?
- 31:22Speaker 15: That's Jill Jill, Yes, I do. And this is what
- 31:25Speaker 15: I'll say. There are so many incredible We are so
- 31:28Speaker 15: lucky and we have so many incredible people working on
- 31:31Speaker 15: behalf of so many different constituencies, but Jill's constituency is
- 31:36Speaker 15: very important and it's certainly near and dear to my heart.
- 31:39Speaker 15: Jill works with children who are on the spectrum, who
- 31:42Speaker 15: have Asperger's autism, speech and language disorders, those with cocar
- 31:45Speaker 15: imp lands, those with sensory integration issues, and she's a
- 31:49Speaker 15: champion for kids when really we don't have. You know,
- 31:53Speaker 15: she's a shining star. She's an absolute shining star, and
- 31:56Speaker 15: she doesn't get enough credit. She works nights and weekends
- 31:58Speaker 15: and holidays like so many do, but she takes care
- 32:01Speaker 15: of our kid is who really need that extra help.
- 32:03Speaker 15: So it was a pleasure on my car right here
- 32:05Speaker 15: to listen to my good friend Jill.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Text says, I gotta ask, Yeah, this has nothing to
- 32:11Speaker 3: do with us specifically.
- 32:12Speaker 15: But it's okay, Yeah fine.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I got to ask, is this WVU baseball team really
- 32:17Speaker 3: testing anyone else's nerves? Which is the three regional games
- 32:20Speaker 3: they played over the weekend. O MG, going to have
- 32:23Speaker 3: a heart attack? Stop?
- 32:24Speaker 15: I know, I know, I know. Between that and my
- 32:27Speaker 15: nephew's team, the Pacers, it was, it was. It was
- 32:31Speaker 15: a Saturday night of sitting on the edge of your
- 32:35Speaker 15: sitting on the edge of your seats.
- 32:36Speaker 2: It was.
- 32:38Speaker 15: It was a very exciting time. I went up to
- 32:40Speaker 15: more Intown a couple of weeks ago to watch this
- 32:42Speaker 15: team in action. They're incredible. They're incredible athletes. And you know,
- 32:47Speaker 15: when the camera zoom's in, Dave, You're you're looking at
- 32:50Speaker 15: one of the kids and he's got his retainer and
- 32:52Speaker 15: like his pimple face, and you're like, he's a kid.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Forget that sometimes he is sometimes.
- 32:58Speaker 15: Did he make that mistake?
- 32:59Speaker 10: You know?
- 33:00Speaker 15: Or share like, Okay, he's eighteen, nineteen years old, give
- 33:04Speaker 15: the guy a break. You know. It's what they do,
- 33:07Speaker 15: it's why they go to school. Hopefully they're also getting
- 33:09Speaker 15: an education. I'm sure they are, but these are these
- 33:12Speaker 15: are still you know, they're still developing their brains. But anyways,
- 33:16Speaker 15: I appreciate it. And I'm a big as you well know,
- 33:18Speaker 15: I'm a big Marshall ann Wu fan, but I'm really
- 33:21Speaker 15: pleased to see that they're doing so incredible and that
- 33:24Speaker 15: stadium is wonderful.
- 33:25Speaker 3: It is it is.
- 33:26Speaker 15: It's a really cool stadium.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Another busy weekend. Mayor and Charleston mentioned earlier a lot
- 33:29Speaker 3: of stuff going on. We had first of all Charlie
- 33:32Speaker 3: West Music Fest. Ye, this all coming on the heels
- 33:35Speaker 3: of the bike event last week. You got Regatta coming
- 33:37Speaker 3: up at a couple of weeks. What's fun with the dome,
- 33:40Speaker 3: it's coming up. We had a lot of stuff going on.
- 33:42Speaker 15: You know, it is the time in which we start
- 33:45Speaker 15: stretching in the office because it is and it's important.
- 33:50Speaker 15: It's important to always take a step back. You know,
- 33:55Speaker 15: we have we have a huge lineup and every single
- 33:58Speaker 15: weekend and actually most evenings we have something going on
- 34:01Speaker 15: in the city of Charleston, Dave. But you know, like
- 34:05Speaker 15: Live on the Levee on Friday, take for instance, we
- 34:07Speaker 15: had to step back. We don't do that lightly by
- 34:11Speaker 15: the way. You know, our businesses, our vendors, our hotels,
- 34:15Speaker 15: our folks really depend upon us being you know, moving forward,
- 34:20Speaker 15: even when mother nature is is uh is not is
- 34:25Speaker 15: not on our side. But it's important safety first, and
- 34:28Speaker 15: you know, just for instance on Friday, yes we're going
- 34:30Speaker 15: to reschedule. But these are the things that these are
- 34:34Speaker 15: the things that keep you up at night. Yeah. Sometimes,
- 34:38Speaker 15: you know, there are so many things that are in
- 34:40Speaker 15: our control. As a matter of fact, as I was
- 34:42Speaker 15: exiting the building. We have event meetings because the operations
- 34:47Speaker 15: that we run and the folks that we support everybody.
- 34:49Speaker 15: I don't care if it's a five k race, I
- 34:51Speaker 15: don't care. If it's festival, I don't care if it's REGDA,
- 34:53Speaker 15: don't care, if it's live on the levee, don't care.
- 34:54Speaker 15: It's about we have an entire team of people that
- 34:57Speaker 15: have to be coordinated and ready to go. And most important,
- 35:02Speaker 15: as General Hoyer used to say to me back in
- 35:05Speaker 15: my governor office days, lack of communication or misinformation is
- 35:11Speaker 15: how people win wars over you. So keep communicating, keep talking,
- 35:16Speaker 15: even if the message isn't what you want to hear.
- 35:19Speaker 15: Keep communicating with folks. And so I think that we
- 35:21Speaker 15: try to do that. We could always do better. But
- 35:24Speaker 15: it's going to be a very exciting, exciting summer once
- 35:27Speaker 15: again in the city of Charleston. But to have that,
- 35:29Speaker 15: I'm still getting my voice back. I know a lot
- 35:30Speaker 15: of people are, but it was an incredible opportunity for
- 35:34Speaker 15: our city. Somebody was asking me this morning in the gym,
- 35:38Speaker 15: is the trick question? Is the ROI is the return
- 35:41Speaker 15: on investment? By the way, it's not me making these
- 35:43Speaker 15: millions of dollars. It's you businesses, right. My job is
- 35:46Speaker 15: to get people in front of your business. Your job
- 35:48Speaker 15: is to get them in your store to buy your stuff.
- 35:50Speaker 15: For state, your hotel, is the ROI more important than
- 35:53Speaker 15: the image the national branding excuse me that you get
- 35:58Speaker 15: and you know, my initial response is the branding, the
- 36:03Speaker 15: branding for the whole state and not just for the
- 36:06Speaker 15: city of Charlestown, because that is, at the end of
- 36:09Speaker 15: the day, what we need to make sure that we're
- 36:11Speaker 15: always doing is putting our best foot forward. We're on
- 36:15Speaker 15: it when we're on a national stage or an international stage.
- 36:19Speaker 15: That does drive business, folks, It absolutely does one hundred.
- 36:23Speaker 15: Is it nice to have money in the pockets of
- 36:25Speaker 15: our businesses. Yeah, sure, but it's uh it's taxing too though,
- 36:30Speaker 15: for sure. A lot of heavy lifting and a lot
- 36:32Speaker 15: of stretching we do, all right.
- 36:34Speaker 3: And uh and again it's just going to get even
- 36:36Speaker 3: more as with we're gotta coming up foam with the
- 36:39Speaker 3: dome and all these other things that are going on.
- 36:40Speaker 3: But uh, let's go to the phones and our good
- 36:42Speaker 3: friend Jim is on the line.
- 36:44Speaker 15: Go ahead, good morning to a hello, Hey Jim, how's
- 36:48Speaker 15: it going?
- 36:50Speaker 16: Oh?
- 36:50Speaker 17: Not bad at all. I was blowing through, Yes, sir,
- 36:53Speaker 17: could be handlets being made up and the local printing
- 36:57Speaker 17: shops should you know, get letting people know what's going
- 37:03Speaker 17: on in Charleston, keeping that action tactic going. The crowds
- 37:08Speaker 17: would be great, hotels would be full and just like
- 37:13Speaker 17: to pick a ball, turnlet at night through. I'm sure
- 37:17Speaker 17: it was a huge success.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Yeah it was.
- 37:20Speaker 15: Yeah, you know, Jim, it's so funny you mentioned that.
- 37:22Speaker 15: My you know, my old hat is communications and my
- 37:26Speaker 15: chief of staff, Matthew Sutton, has spent his career in
- 37:29Speaker 15: marketing and advertising. In Tina Stinson, who does our comms work,
- 37:32Speaker 15: has spent years doing this. And there's actually still a
- 37:35Speaker 15: battle right between do you print something, do you put
- 37:38Speaker 15: it online? How many views are you getting? And what
- 37:40Speaker 15: is the value right of sharing that? And we go
- 37:44Speaker 15: round Robin's Barn as we should with one another. I
- 37:47Speaker 15: still do believe in the value of printing something and
- 37:49Speaker 15: handing something out. You saw that with the bike races.
- 37:53Speaker 15: But it is absolutely hands down the best way of
- 37:58Speaker 15: communicating Right now we stand here flat footed, is what
- 38:02Speaker 15: we're doing now on the radio, reaching out to people
- 38:05Speaker 15: you're listening, you know, radio television and that inner Google
- 38:10Speaker 15: that wed that social media. Because I can reach twice
- 38:14Speaker 15: as many people right now if I were right now
- 38:16Speaker 15: to stand here with Dave and run out and hand
- 38:18Speaker 15: out as many flyers as I possibly could on Urgatta,
- 38:20Speaker 15: I can't reach as many people as I am right
- 38:22Speaker 15: now with this microphone. And so but I will say, Jim,
- 38:26Speaker 15: there is a balance between doing both. I think we
- 38:28Speaker 15: work very well with the CVB and Tim Brady and
- 38:31Speaker 15: his team of Jama and Rico and Lauren and Carly
- 38:35Speaker 15: and so many people over there that do such a
- 38:37Speaker 15: good job of balancing that. But I do appreciate your
- 38:40Speaker 15: comment on that.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Thank you, Jim, Thank you Jim Not nine forty five Texas. Hey, Dave,
- 38:45Speaker 3: could you please ask them mayor about the status of
- 38:47Speaker 3: the splash pad down on Magic Island.
- 38:49Speaker 15: Oh that's a great question. Let me text Tina right now.
- 38:53Speaker 15: Let me go ahead and say this about the splash pad.
- 38:55Speaker 15: And man, I do love, I do love, I do
- 38:57Speaker 15: love a water feature. One thing that there are several
- 39:00Speaker 15: things I've learned as mayor. One of the things that
- 39:03Speaker 15: I absolutely learned many many years ago. No mayor likes
- 39:08Speaker 15: a water feature. We just simply don't or pools. Though necessary,
- 39:13Speaker 15: they're very expensive. They break down all the time, and
- 39:17Speaker 15: especially when you build a splash pad in a flood area,
- 39:22Speaker 15: because what happens is when it floods, it gets mucked
- 39:25Speaker 15: up and gunked up. And the parts that you bought
- 39:28Speaker 15: for this park many years ago, maybe the distributor isn't there,
- 39:33Speaker 15: maybe they've changed their parts out of business, what have you.
- 39:38Speaker 15: But I will check as we're sitting here on the radio,
- 39:40Speaker 15: and I'll ask our team right now to check in
- 39:44Speaker 15: it for me. But this is also the reason why
- 39:47Speaker 15: we did the splash park at a city center at
- 39:50Speaker 15: Slack Plaza if you go there. I wanted to have
- 39:52Speaker 15: a water feature, and everybody on the team said, you
- 39:55Speaker 15: already know mayor what's going to happen when you do
- 39:56Speaker 15: a splash pad. It's going to break. But when these
- 39:59Speaker 15: splash the when the fountains in city center, it's like
- 40:02Speaker 15: plaza break, you know, are not functioning or frozen up
- 40:06Speaker 15: or something's happened. They go into the ground. It is
- 40:09Speaker 15: not a distraction where people say I want to pond
- 40:11Speaker 15: or I want a big fountain, or I want a
- 40:13Speaker 15: big then it just takes up space that is not usable,
- 40:17Speaker 15: so many many cities did what we did. As a
- 40:21Speaker 15: matter of fact, we stole it the idea. It just
- 40:24Speaker 15: looks like a pretty pattern on the ground when they're
- 40:26Speaker 15: not in use, but because they break and we're a
- 40:30Speaker 15: we're a four season destination, so we have a lot
- 40:34Speaker 15: of different weather conditions as well that are not always
- 40:37Speaker 15: good for not always good. But let me let me
- 40:41Speaker 15: check on that while we're sitting here on the telephone,
- 40:42Speaker 15: because I really don't know right now she's on it.
- 40:46Speaker 15: I'm literally typing. I'm literally typing and.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Here's here's what's funny if you could and we're not
- 40:53Speaker 3: on This show is not on television yet. It will
- 40:55Speaker 3: be on Metro News TV eventually. But but one of
- 40:58Speaker 3: the funny things is about people. And you're not old Mayor,
- 41:01Speaker 3: so don't don't hit me with that. Yeah, but people
- 41:03Speaker 3: of our generation, it's interesting when we have to send
- 41:06Speaker 3: a text or check an email or whatever, how we
- 41:08Speaker 3: have to stop to do it. People of let's say
- 41:11Speaker 3: Ryan's generation, they just keep going, yeah, you know what,
- 41:14Speaker 3: I love it.
- 41:15Speaker 15: My twenty one year old does it to me and
- 41:16Speaker 15: it's annoying because he'll he'll text and I'll say Sam ye,
- 41:20Speaker 15: and he'll say what's up, which drives me crazy.
- 41:23Speaker 12: Ryan.
- 41:23Speaker 15: I don't know, I don't know what that's what's up? Okay,
- 41:26Speaker 15: how about excuse me? You need something? I'm sorry, look
- 41:30Speaker 15: at me, look at my eyeballs. Please, But they can.
- 41:33Speaker 15: I mean it's you know, for for good or bad,
- 41:36Speaker 15: for good or bad or the other. That's that's who
- 41:38Speaker 15: they that's who they are.
- 41:39Speaker 3: But they've ould showing five eighty line brought to you
- 41:41Speaker 3: a part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Off night tonight. For the Birds, they have a road
- 41:47Speaker 3: series against High Point COVID up tomorrow night. The Birds
- 41:50Speaker 3: are back at the ballpark at Go Mart Ballpark next Tuesday,
- 41:52Speaker 3: June tenth. For tickets, for motion schedules and more, visit
- 41:55Speaker 3: Dirty Birds Baseball dot com.
- 41:56Speaker 15: Yep Tina says. Jeremy says, the splash pad is working,
- 42:01Speaker 15: and she wanted She said, I wanted to make sure
- 42:02Speaker 15: because they had to repair a little something last week.
- 42:04Speaker 15: So splash pad tinup per this morning, just moments ago.
- 42:08Speaker 15: Nine forty seven says it's up and working.
- 42:10Speaker 3: It was up and working. Another big event that's going
- 42:13Speaker 3: to bring a lot of people into Charleston happens later
- 42:15Speaker 3: this week Mayor and that is the State Baseball Chartament Park.
- 42:19Speaker 15: It's absolutely amazing. Again the baseball is. You know, it
- 42:23Speaker 15: can't give enough credit to and to Shay for coming
- 42:25Speaker 15: in and really working with us in the early days
- 42:28Speaker 15: of bringing the Charleston Dirty Birds here at Gomart Park.
- 42:32Speaker 15: It is so much fun to watch these outstanding athletes
- 42:37Speaker 15: play the game. My dad played the game back in
- 42:39Speaker 15: the day. He was an All American. So I love
- 42:41Speaker 15: watching baseball. But it's so much more than baseball. If
- 42:44Speaker 15: you haven't been, even if this is going to sound crazy,
- 42:48Speaker 15: even if baseball is baseball is not your thing, the
- 42:51Speaker 15: park is, I can promise you booth and I get
- 42:54Speaker 15: my husband both and I get upset every time we
- 42:57Speaker 15: go now because when we used to take the boys
- 42:59Speaker 15: there to watch a little bit of game, have beer,
- 43:01Speaker 15: you a little some deep. Now they have Jupiter jumps,
- 43:04Speaker 15: and now they have many putt putt, and now they
- 43:06Speaker 15: have all of these things that it's you can still
- 43:10Speaker 15: listen to the game, still watch the game if you
- 43:11Speaker 15: have littles, and get supper and get yourself something to drink.
- 43:15Speaker 15: But there's also so many other things to do. And
- 43:18Speaker 15: he's really taken a page from what the you know,
- 43:20Speaker 15: the big boys and the big girls are doing all
- 43:22Speaker 15: across the country at ballparks. It is about the baseball,
- 43:26Speaker 15: for sure, but it's also about you know, your parents
- 43:29Speaker 15: listening to me, grandparents listening to me. You need to
- 43:31Speaker 15: keep little people busy while they're there as well. Sometimes
- 43:35Speaker 15: baseball is not the fastest sport. It's very exciting. If
- 43:39Speaker 15: Matthew Sutton's listening to me, he's going to give it
- 43:41Speaker 15: to me when I get back to the office to
- 43:42Speaker 15: say no, it is the best sport in the entire world.
- 43:45Speaker 15: But sometimes in those law times, it is good to have.
- 43:48Speaker 15: It is good to have so many things. Charleston sternwol
- 43:52Speaker 15: Regatta is top of mind and tip of tongue, Dave,
- 43:55Speaker 15: the third through the sixth, I wanted to make sure
- 43:57Speaker 15: that I mentioned that so people know, here we go again.
- 44:02Speaker 15: It's going to be a great It's going to be
- 44:04Speaker 15: a great year for the Charleston Sturmo. We got it,
- 44:07Speaker 15: so we're excited about.
- 44:08Speaker 3: It, and we'll be talking a lot more about it
- 44:09Speaker 3: as we get there. We need to go to break
- 44:11Speaker 3: Tex says though, Hey, Dave, while we're talking about sports.
- 44:15Speaker 3: This is softball. How about those Cabble Midland Lady Knights.
- 44:17Speaker 3: They won their conference, sectional, regional, and state championship. Great
- 44:20Speaker 3: season twenty nine and three. Please give a shout out,
- 44:23Speaker 3: thanks Dave. So there you go. Yeah.
- 44:24Speaker 15: I love softball, played it all through school and they
- 44:27Speaker 15: are They're incredible athletes, and really softball is so fun
- 44:31Speaker 15: to watch. But it's also such a money and driver
- 44:35Speaker 15: for any community to host more softball tournaments. If somebody
- 44:39Speaker 15: gave us more softball tournaments, I'd open my arms with it.
- 44:42Speaker 15: It's an incredible sports. Girls, girls' sports is the way
- 44:45Speaker 15: to go. Girls softball, girls volleyball. We pack it in.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Also, I want to say shout out to your good
- 44:52Speaker 3: friend Randy Barrett and the folks of Winfield because they
- 44:56Speaker 3: won this third straight softball championship. And I happen to
- 44:59Speaker 3: be in when Field while the game was going on
- 45:02Speaker 3: on on Saturday. I was over there as a fundraiser
- 45:04Speaker 3: for the Putnam County Animal Shelter. I was over there
- 45:06Speaker 3: with our sister station in the Mountain, and that was
- 45:09Speaker 3: all the talk that was there people, I mean those
- 45:11Speaker 3: people talking about the Winfield general. So we'll give a
- 45:13Speaker 3: big shout out to them as well. We'll take a

- 48:44Speaker 15: but if we can't, we're going to get something.
- 48:45Speaker 3: They ended up playing anyway. I saw Street right, they
- 48:50Speaker 3: ended up taking the show and it really wasn't a
- 48:52Speaker 3: part of the Live on the Levee thing, but somebody
- 48:54Speaker 3: just said let's take the show indoors and they and
- 48:56Speaker 3: they end up playing at five Street the other.
- 48:58Speaker 15: Yes, absolutely incredible. I saw the There is absolutely amazing Texas.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Ask the mayor what's going on with the property of
- 49:04Speaker 3: the old steel plant on Morris Street fell in something here?
- 49:13Speaker 15: May Well, I think they're probably talking about the I
- 49:16Speaker 15: think they're probably talking about the Lift Center.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Okay, that's kind of what I thought it was.
- 49:20Speaker 15: Yeah, I think they're talking about the Lift Center. It
- 49:22Speaker 15: is a multimillion dollar project that we have worked on
- 49:29Speaker 15: for years now in cooperation with the federal government and
- 49:33Speaker 15: the state government. Charleston Aarry Alliance. I think Drew Dunlapp
- 49:37Speaker 15: has probably been on the show several times. It was
- 49:42Speaker 15: taking down an old steel plant that used to be there,
- 49:45Speaker 15: that used to manufacture the carts and the cars that
- 49:49Speaker 15: used to run coal and Willie Lively who ran it,
- 49:54Speaker 15: and transforming that space in that place right off of
- 49:57Speaker 15: Dixie Street. I think that's what they're talking about.
- 49:59Speaker 3: That's kind of what I call it too. And if
- 50:01Speaker 3: they want to they want to text, watch.
- 50:04Speaker 15: Call me or call me three four three four eight
- 50:07Speaker 15: eight one seven four.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Call me all right, what else you got me?
- 50:09Speaker 9: You know?
- 50:10Speaker 15: One thing I wanted to mention is hearts of our neighborhood.
- 50:12Speaker 15: There is a grant program that is offered right now
- 50:16Speaker 15: through the Mayor's Office UH approved by City Council UH
- 50:20Speaker 15: to do mini grants for our neighborhoods. If you see
- 50:24Speaker 15: a project or something that you see and one of
- 50:27Speaker 15: our parks that you'd like to have added, or a
- 50:30Speaker 15: light or some type of art piece in your community,
- 50:35Speaker 15: uh at one of our centers. Call my office if
- 50:38Speaker 15: you need more information. But it's online. It's an application,
- 50:41Speaker 15: Hearts of Our Neighborhood, for our nonprofits and our folks
- 50:44Speaker 15: who were looking to get engaged and involved. This is
- 50:47Speaker 15: why I started the Hearts of Our Neighborhood. I was
- 50:50Speaker 15: getting calls and calls or texts, Hey, can you give
- 50:52Speaker 15: me money for I think it'd be really cool to
- 50:54Speaker 15: have a swing set here. I think it'd be really
- 50:57Speaker 15: cool to add a bench here. Hey can you add
- 50:59Speaker 15: kind of these flashing lights on this street here? On
- 51:02Speaker 15: this city street here? And so last year in my state,
- 51:05Speaker 15: earlier this year in my state of the city addressed,
- 51:08Speaker 15: I launched it Hearts of Our Neighborhood because you know, listen,
- 51:12Speaker 15: we come up with a lot of good ideas, but
- 51:14Speaker 15: the best ideas that we get in a city is
- 51:17Speaker 15: when people bring them to us. You live there. You
- 51:20Speaker 15: live there every single second of every single day. Yeah,
- 51:22Speaker 15: I walk your neighborhoods all the time, but you know,
- 51:25Speaker 15: because you live there, tell me what you want let's
- 51:27Speaker 15: work together to try to make the spaces and places
- 51:31Speaker 15: where you have your community work works. Avenue. Hey, we
- 51:35Speaker 15: want to grill at our new park. It works Avenue. Okay, great,
- 51:40Speaker 15: let's talk about it. But now we have a fund
- 51:42Speaker 15: of money that I've set aside to say, if you
- 51:44Speaker 15: want these things to happen in your neighborhood, let's work
- 51:47Speaker 15: together and get them going. And it could be a
- 51:48Speaker 15: program too. It could be a senior program or a
- 51:51Speaker 15: youth program that you'd like to help support at one
- 51:55Speaker 15: of our facilities. Let's work together and make it happen.
- 51:57Speaker 3: All right. We clarification here. There is a lot on
- 52:00Speaker 3: Morris across the tracks from bricks and barrels that's been
- 52:03Speaker 3: torn up.
- 52:04Speaker 15: Oh yeah, okay, thanks so much. So it's actually behind
- 52:07Speaker 15: it would be behind bricks and barrels. It's my understanding
- 52:11Speaker 15: that that is going to be turned into one of
- 52:13Speaker 15: those huge, big drive through car washes.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Okay, there you.
- 52:18Speaker 15: I think that's what you're talking about, on the opposite
- 52:19Speaker 15: side of the bricks and barrels, on the opposite side
- 52:21Speaker 15: of the train tracks.
- 52:23Speaker 3: That's kind of what I thought too.
- 52:24Speaker 14: Air.
- 52:24Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot sir, all right, TJ,
- 52:27Speaker 3: you're up. What you got me? You got to follow
