- 2:02Speaker 3: drop back drop.
- 2:15Speaker 2: All right, guys, welcome back e y l ATL edition.
- 2:21Speaker 2: This is gonna be a big episode. Very very excited
- 2:23Speaker 2: to have this conversation. So, you know, yeah, the first
- 2:26Speaker 2: time we ever talked about something like this. We cover
- 2:29Speaker 2: business every single episode, and all forms of business, every
- 2:34Speaker 2: area of business. And the one thing that we really
- 2:36Speaker 2: haven't covered in detail is employment from an employer standpoint,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and especially outsourcing. So like outsourcing is huge in corporate
- 2:49Speaker 2: American Fortune five hundred companies where you see like a
- 2:53Speaker 2: company like Apple and all of these companies where like
- 2:56Speaker 2: large chunks of their workforce are in China and Indie, Indonesia,
- 3:01Speaker 2: things of that nature. Whether it's from the production standpoint,
- 3:04Speaker 2: whether it's from customer service standpoint, all kinds of stuff.
- 3:08Speaker 2: But you know, one of the things that you see
- 3:11Speaker 2: with small businesses is you never see that which is
- 3:14Speaker 2: I guess can be looked at as a gift and
- 3:16Speaker 2: a curse because it's hard to scale, but you're also
- 3:21Speaker 2: keeping employment in America, but you're paying way more. It's
- 3:26Speaker 2: a lot more that goes into it. So even us
- 3:29Speaker 2: we use you know, our production for our merchans in Pakistan,
- 3:33Speaker 2: we've outsourced that overseas. We've had issues with overseas production before.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So this is an interesting conversation because the Marco Thomas
- 3:42Speaker 2: is an entrepreneur. He's a real renaissance man. So he
- 3:45Speaker 2: has over fifty four vehicle a fleet of trucks from
- 3:50Speaker 2: semiconductors to sprinter events to box trucks, semi trucks not
- 3:57Speaker 2: semi conductive semi trucks.
- 3:59Speaker 4: He has one hundred employees locally over.
- 4:01Speaker 2: One hundred, and then he has over eighty five employees international,
- 4:05Speaker 2: and what he's spending most of his time on these
- 4:07Speaker 2: days is actually he has an outsourced company called Metromax Solutions,
- 4:12Speaker 2: where he actually helps people outsource their business. So we're
- 4:18Speaker 2: going to have a conversation about how to expand the business,
- 4:22Speaker 2: the outsourcing, dealing with workers overseas, and how to actually,
- 4:26Speaker 2: you know, grow grow a business from a local mom
- 4:30Speaker 2: and pop operation into a global entity with enterprise millions
- 4:35Speaker 2: of dollars of revenue over one hundred employees. So first
- 4:39Speaker 2: and foremost, thank you for joining us. Appreciate it. Thank
- 4:41Speaker 2: you for having me brother for sure, for sure for sure.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And you're also from Alabama.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Alabama. Yeah yeah, road time. Wait, what side are you
- 4:51Speaker 5: on on that? I'm what eagles man?
- 4:54Speaker 6: Of course when road Tide is playing against anybody else's
- 4:56Speaker 6: man room for them.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Okay, okay, always the home.
- 4:59Speaker 2: State, new in territory, shout out to ality from Montgomery, Alabama.
- 5:04Speaker 6: Uh yeah, Montgomery born and raised. Coming is that the
- 5:07Speaker 6: home of Martin Luther king Man. That's the birthplace of
- 5:09Speaker 6: the civil rights movement. So that's where he kind of,
- 5:11Speaker 6: you know, kicked off the march and you know, all
- 5:14Speaker 6: the initiatives that kind of pushed that that whole era.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I know you have short terms out there,
- 5:20Speaker 2: white in Alabama for sure. So all right, let's get
- 5:23Speaker 2: into it. How did you come to this point of
- 5:27Speaker 2: actually doing what you're doing now? Because I know you
- 5:30Speaker 2: didn't always do this. You wasn't always an entrepreneur. So
- 5:33Speaker 2: how is the journey from working corporate America to becoming
- 5:38Speaker 2: an entrepreneur?
- 5:40Speaker 6: Man, It's it's been a crazy ride, you know. For me,
- 5:43Speaker 6: it kind of started, you know, out of high school
- 5:45Speaker 6: in terms of being exposed to different diversities.
- 5:48Speaker 5: You know, growing up in Alabama.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Man, Uh, the majority of people you interact with, at
- 5:53Speaker 6: least my time, was either black or white. So out
- 5:57Speaker 6: of high school I joined the military, and at that
- 5:59Speaker 6: point I was exposed to a whole diverse array of
- 6:02Speaker 6: people who came from you know, all kinds of different
- 6:05Speaker 6: backgrounds and walk of life. And in my first six
- 6:07Speaker 6: months in the military, I traveled overseas Army, US Navy, Oh, Navy, okay, Navy, bro.
- 6:14Speaker 6: And within the Navy, my first six months we traveled
- 6:18Speaker 6: to about ten countries. So seventeen years old never been
- 6:21Speaker 6: outside of Montgomery, Alabama. You start, you just you know,
- 6:25Speaker 6: get exploded into all these different cultures, from Spain to
- 6:28Speaker 6: Molta to Dubai when they was first rising it up
- 6:31Speaker 6: to Barcelona to Bahrain. And then that just kind of
- 6:36Speaker 6: opened my mind to just, you know, global business in
- 6:39Speaker 6: general because I saw that, man, you know, business can
- 6:42Speaker 6: be done everywhere with the right tactic, skills and infrastructure.
- 6:47Speaker 7: So when you're in college, well, in the Navy, what
- 6:50Speaker 7: are you studying there? Because obviously there's some financial background there.
- 6:53Speaker 5: What are you studying? Yeah, So I was actually operation
- 6:56Speaker 5: specialist in the Navy.
- 6:57Speaker 6: Man, I specialized in making sure that the the ship
- 7:00Speaker 6: made it from point A to point B safely.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Logistics logistics bro. And we'll get to that a little later.
- 7:06Speaker 5: I'm funny how one thing turns into the next.
- 7:10Speaker 6: So, you know, after doing my first deployment in the
- 7:14Speaker 6: Navy around eighteen, I actually was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida,
- 7:18Speaker 6: and I had the opportunity in college in the evening,
- 7:20Speaker 6: so I went to UNF I studied finance and strategy.
- 7:24Speaker 6: So simultaneously doing that end of my enlistment in the Navy,
- 7:28Speaker 6: and when I was actually completing my degree, I decided
- 7:33Speaker 6: to relocate to Atlanta. So got my corporate finance degree,
- 7:37Speaker 6: relocated to Atlanta two thousand and nine, got a corporate
- 7:42Speaker 6: job with Home Depot, working in finance and pretty much
- 7:45Speaker 6: climbing corporate ladder from Home Depot to NTR and lastly
- 7:50Speaker 6: caused communication.
- 7:52Speaker 4: What was your job? What was your last job that
- 7:54Speaker 4: you had title?
- 7:55Speaker 6: My last title was I was the senior manager of
- 7:57Speaker 6: Finance Operations. Through my role in finance, I was responsible
- 8:03Speaker 6: for you know, budgeting of course, but literally looking inside
- 8:07Speaker 6: the business and finding out ways to make it more efficient,
- 8:10Speaker 6: make it more profitable, deciding if we need to make
- 8:14Speaker 6: management changes, deciding if we need to bring in external
- 8:17Speaker 6: parties in order to make the company grow. And so
- 8:22Speaker 6: that pretty much, you know, ran its course for about
- 8:24Speaker 6: nine years.
- 8:25Speaker 4: And when did you leave?
- 8:27Speaker 6: I left in I left in March two thousand and fifteen.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Okay, okay, that's valuable lesson though.
- 8:35Speaker 7: Now I'm listening to us like, yo, these are huge companies,
- 8:37Speaker 7: especially Home Depot, and even them at that level that
- 8:40Speaker 7: they're out, they're like, yo, how can we grow more?
- 8:42Speaker 5: How can we expand more? So they're bringing you in.
- 8:44Speaker 6: Yeah, it's all about being competitive, bro, Like a business
- 8:47Speaker 6: unit was unperforming. My team were actually going there and
- 8:50Speaker 6: we'll look at everything from the SOPs to the systems
- 8:53Speaker 6: they use, and of course their books, and then we'll
- 8:57Speaker 6: actually sit with their management team and see where their
- 8:59Speaker 6: vision is. Whatever gaps we identify, we make a recommendation
- 9:03Speaker 6: to the president of that business unit so on how
- 9:06Speaker 6: to you know, make certain changes to take it to
- 9:08Speaker 6: the next level.
- 9:09Speaker 4: So, okay, so what what came first? Outsourcing or trucking?
- 9:13Speaker 5: Uh? Definitely trucking. Uh.
- 9:16Speaker 6: So in corporate America, I got exposed to outsourcing. So
- 9:20Speaker 6: if I go into a business unit and I felt
- 9:22Speaker 6: like a certain part of that unit could be done
- 9:25Speaker 6: more effectively and efficiently outside of the company, we engage
- 9:29Speaker 6: outsourced vendors to come into business and actually execute it
- 9:32Speaker 6: so we can really focus on our core business. You know,
- 9:34Speaker 6: the strategy of a lot of big corporate companies is,
- 9:38Speaker 6: you know, focus on what you do best and then
- 9:40Speaker 6: outsource the rest.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:41Speaker 6: If I'm good at sales, that's all I want to
- 9:44Speaker 6: focus on the sales. I don't want to spend a
- 9:46Speaker 6: lot of time, you know, recruiting people. You know, I'm
- 9:49Speaker 6: anna outsource the HR portion of my company so I
- 9:52Speaker 6: can focus one to pen.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Up, So you had you had to tell you learned
- 9:55Speaker 2: about outsourcing from corporate world and from the military. You
- 10:00Speaker 2: was traveling overseas, so you saw how business was being run.
- 10:02Speaker 2: A lot of times, people in America only think America
- 10:05Speaker 2: is the only place that could do business and it's
- 10:07Speaker 2: like nah, that they're doing business on a on a
- 10:10Speaker 2: level just like we are overseas. So, Okay, what are
- 10:15Speaker 2: the benefits of outsourcing? Obviously you can pay people less money,
- 10:18Speaker 2: right sure, But what other what are some other benefits
- 10:22Speaker 2: for small business owners to outsource?
- 10:25Speaker 5: Some huge benefits is technology? Right.
- 10:30Speaker 6: I think a lot of people and companies want to
- 10:32Speaker 6: invest in tech, but they can't number one, identify the
- 10:36Speaker 6: talent or afford the talent locally, and they don't know
- 10:39Speaker 6: the strategy. So me personally, I decided to outsource the
- 10:43Speaker 6: India because that's a that's a tech hub.
- 10:45Speaker 5: And even though you know, as.
- 10:47Speaker 6: An entrepreneur, I'm primarily in the transportation space, the way
- 10:51Speaker 6: we built our company and kind of where we're going,
- 10:54Speaker 6: where we're planning to go forward is kind of in
- 10:56Speaker 6: the tech space.
- 10:58Speaker 2: So what was the first thing that you outsource? Like,
- 11:00Speaker 2: what was the first job here? Man, So we started outsourcing.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You know, just to step back a little bit, I
- 11:06Speaker 2: got it. You know, I left Corporate America twenty and fifteen,
- 11:10Speaker 2: and you know, invested in my first semi in between
- 11:13Speaker 2: twenty and fifteen and twenty eighteen. I scaled that to
- 11:17Speaker 2: about twenty trucks. If you know anything about transportation, specifically
- 11:21Speaker 2: on the over the road truck and space, the margins
- 11:23Speaker 2: are slammed. They in double digits, low double digits, So
- 11:26Speaker 2: you know, you try to find ways to cut costs.
- 11:29Speaker 5: What I did was, you know, use my corporate.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Experience, used the exposure I had the outsourcing, and made
- 11:34Speaker 6: a decision that I wanted to take certain back end
- 11:37Speaker 6: functions like processing payments to my driver, processing applications related
- 11:43Speaker 6: to my drivers, you know, maintaining the maintenance records related
- 11:47Speaker 6: to my truck.
- 11:48Speaker 5: I wanted to do that outside the business, right because.
- 11:51Speaker 6: I wanted my internal team to really focus on operational execution.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Did that happen over time? Like did you start with
- 11:57Speaker 5: that in mind?
- 11:58Speaker 7: Like this is I'm on an outsource from the beginning
- 12:00Speaker 7: because I know these are the things that we're gonna
- 12:02Speaker 7: have to face.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Or is that something I learned?
- 12:04Speaker 6: It's like literally, when I grew the business and I
- 12:06Speaker 6: recognized that even though my number of units were growing,
- 12:10Speaker 6: my profitability was not growing as fast. That then I decided, Okay,
- 12:15Speaker 6: I need to refocus and you know, take some P
- 12:17Speaker 6: and L lines and reevaluate them.
- 12:20Speaker 2: So how did you go about getting the first person
- 12:22Speaker 2: that you outsourced?
- 12:24Speaker 6: Yeah, so the first thing I did is I reached
- 12:26Speaker 6: out to relationships I had in corporate America and identified
- 12:30Speaker 6: a former colleague that was from India. Right, pretty much
- 12:33Speaker 6: had the skill set I didn't have. Right, he was
- 12:35Speaker 6: from India, he had experience in I and he had
- 12:38Speaker 6: experienced outsourcing. So I convinced him that, you know, there
- 12:43Speaker 6: may be a big void in the transportation space in
- 12:45Speaker 6: terms of servicing small companies such as myself, and uh,
- 12:50Speaker 6: you know, he got sold on the idea. We we
- 12:53Speaker 6: taught to Frank lucas approach man. You know, we traveled
- 12:57Speaker 6: to India, part Bangalore.
- 13:00Speaker 2: We keep hearing these stories about India. You know, we got,
- 13:02Speaker 2: we got. I think you're the second person that traveled
- 13:05Speaker 2: to India.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We got. We got screwed real bad in India. We
- 13:09Speaker 4: had an app.
- 13:10Speaker 2: We had a DJ app years ago and when he
- 13:14Speaker 2: was looking to develop an app, and anybody ever has
- 13:17Speaker 2: done that. You know, it's costs a lot of money
- 13:19Speaker 2: to get an app developed. So we can do it for
- 13:22Speaker 2: like sixty seventy percent cheaper. We found in India, and
- 13:25Speaker 2: they're real good with tech and they speak English when
- 13:29Speaker 2: they want to.
- 13:32Speaker 5: So so you had association.
- 13:35Speaker 7: You know what we did. We watched American Gangster, but
- 13:37Speaker 7: we left the part out about actually travel.
- 13:39Speaker 4: We didn't go that we should we should.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Long story short, we spent like over thirty thousand dollars
- 13:43Speaker 2: and we got burnt and the product was trashed and
- 13:46Speaker 2: we had to hire another Indian to go speak to
- 13:49Speaker 2: them and that was a waste of money and the
- 13:52Speaker 2: whole thing just fizzled out. So when you went to India,
- 13:55Speaker 2: how is your experience on the ground of India?
- 13:58Speaker 6: Yeah, so, I mean on the around is still a
- 14:00Speaker 6: third world country, so that the infrastructure business wise, it established, right.
- 14:07Speaker 6: So you know, there's American companies that's been operating in
- 14:11Speaker 6: India or from India since the nineteen eighties. While it's Apple,
- 14:14Speaker 6: your Amazon, you know, pretty much all the fortune five
- 14:17Speaker 6: hundred companies. So for me coming in from a small
- 14:20Speaker 6: business standpoint, it was like, Okay, how can I get
- 14:22Speaker 6: a space just like I would do here? How can
- 14:25Speaker 6: I hire uh? And how can I you know, pretty
- 14:28Speaker 6: much ensure that those resources uh you know, deliver on
- 14:32Speaker 6: the services I wanted to. So we literally, man spend
- 14:35Speaker 6: a couple of months, you know, finding the right place.
- 14:38Speaker 4: He was out there for months.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Yeah, oh yeah, this wasn't like a walking apart bro
- 14:43Speaker 6: like you know.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Because you had you had your plug to connect with you.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Of course I had, you know, from India. Yeah, you
- 14:49Speaker 2: always got to take a local. So you went out
- 14:51Speaker 2: there for one employee, or you went out there for
- 14:52Speaker 2: a fleet of employees.
- 14:53Speaker 5: I went out there to establish a foundation.
- 14:56Speaker 6: So I wanted at least you know, two to five,
- 14:58Speaker 6: but you know, we ended up hire and five but
- 15:01Speaker 6: only two really kind of you know, stay with us
- 15:03Speaker 6: long term and kind of fitted our mold. But those
- 15:06Speaker 6: two people right laid the foundation for what we started
- 15:09Speaker 6: to create long term.
- 15:10Speaker 5: So you while you're in India for months, who's running
- 15:13Speaker 5: the business here?
- 15:14Speaker 6: I'm partner core okay, you know, uh, he was a
- 15:17Speaker 6: he was a big part of you know, pushing it
- 15:19Speaker 6: as an operation manager for.
- 15:20Speaker 5: The business like hurry up, man, so and eventually he
- 15:24Speaker 5: ended up coming over too, so we end up you know,
- 15:26Speaker 5: swapping it out.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Okay, So when you get to India, was it one
- 15:29Speaker 2: of those things where you went for one employee but
- 15:31Speaker 2: then you realize that you can turn this into a business,
- 15:35Speaker 2: and then you realize you need to stay a little
- 15:36Speaker 2: bit longer just to kind of fully understand the culture.
- 15:39Speaker 5: Yeah, it went.
- 15:40Speaker 6: It went from you know, number one, loving the culture,
- 15:43Speaker 6: to learning the skill sets that they do have and
- 15:46Speaker 6: how I can plug them into my business, to seeing
- 15:48Speaker 6: it actually work within my business, to say, Okay, you know,
- 15:51Speaker 6: I can actually offer this service to other transportation companies
- 15:55Speaker 6: and I can offer it at a at a reasonable cost. Right,
- 15:59Speaker 6: And so that's started metro Max Dispatch, and then we
- 16:03Speaker 6: pretty much launched that business as a service and late
- 16:06Speaker 6: twenty eighteen, early twenty eighteen, and within a year we exploded.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Man had over you know, one hundred customers in a
- 16:13Speaker 6: year and currently we sent at about two hundred customers
- 16:15Speaker 6: that we support.
- 16:16Speaker 5: So back end Transportation, you went.
- 16:18Speaker 7: There to solve the problem of one business and actually
- 16:21Speaker 7: created another one while you were there.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Yep, solved the problem of my business.
- 16:25Speaker 6: Right, I went there selfishless, selfishlessness you know, so you know,
- 16:29Speaker 6: to get there and then recognize, okay, I can take
- 16:32Speaker 6: this same solution that spread across other transportation companies.
- 16:36Speaker 5: It just fell on my left.
- 16:37Speaker 4: So how much did you pay the first person or
- 16:40Speaker 4: the first couple people?
- 16:41Speaker 6: You know, it's about one fourth of what it costs
- 16:44Speaker 6: of resource here. So it was about five hundred a month,
- 16:47Speaker 6: five hundred a month for first full time resource.
- 16:50Speaker 4: And they worked like nine to five, nine to five,
- 16:52Speaker 4: forty hours a week.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Forty hours a week, five hundred dollars no benefits, including
- 16:57Speaker 2: benefits including benefits man to the five hundred health insurance online, yes, sir, okay, okay.
- 17:05Speaker 2: So that's interesting. The first thing, how are they on hours?
- 17:09Speaker 2: Because they're like five hours ahead of America.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Right, yeah, they're ten and a half hours.
- 17:13Speaker 4: And a half hour. How does that work?
- 17:16Speaker 6: Well, you know, most of the people we hired they
- 17:18Speaker 6: worked for former US companies, right, so they already had,
- 17:22Speaker 6: you know, the US dialect. They already had exposure working
- 17:26Speaker 6: night shift basically to support day shifts in the US,
- 17:29Speaker 6: so that that culture is already set in India.
- 17:33Speaker 4: So they work in night shifts just on the ground.
- 17:36Speaker 5: So what is the training looking like?
- 17:38Speaker 7: Are you are you holding trainings, like like, where is
- 17:41Speaker 7: this happening that you're teaching them the skills that they need?
- 17:43Speaker 6: Well, when I first got there, happened. Uh, you know
- 17:45Speaker 6: in person, it's no different than training anybody.
- 17:49Speaker 5: That you hire here. Right, You have you know your SOPs. Uh,
- 17:52Speaker 5: you have.
- 17:53Speaker 6: Certain deadlines, what's SOP standard operating procedures? You know, have
- 17:58Speaker 6: a job description, you post that. Once you get somebody
- 18:00Speaker 6: on board, you take them through your own boarding, your training,
- 18:03Speaker 6: and you know, for skill set wise, they may have
- 18:06Speaker 6: a skill set that's already advanced or experience in that industry,
- 18:09Speaker 6: like you got I'm not the first person that outsourced
- 18:12Speaker 6: transportation to India, right, So it's uh, components and employees
- 18:17Speaker 6: that are already working in transportation. My job was really
- 18:20Speaker 6: to you know, hire them and then instead of you know,
- 18:23Speaker 6: knowing a lot about overall transportation, specifically my business and
- 18:27Speaker 6: how to support my business.
- 18:30Speaker 2: So okay, so you get you get up and running,
- 18:33Speaker 2: you're in India, You get a couple of employees, and
- 18:39Speaker 2: how did that did that like automatically accelerate your business?
- 18:42Speaker 5: Yeah? One hundred percent.
- 18:44Speaker 6: So number one, it costs my front end team to
- 18:48Speaker 6: not really focus on a lot of adin portions of
- 18:50Speaker 6: the business. You know, Uh, the biggest thing in transportation
- 18:53Speaker 6: is really retention the drivers, you know, uh, dealing with maintenance, uh,
- 18:57Speaker 6: negotiating ideals for free. So my team they didn't have
- 19:02Speaker 6: to worry about the paperwork side, right, They didn't have
- 19:04Speaker 6: to worry about payroll, they didn't have to worry about
- 19:07Speaker 6: maintenance records. They truly focus on our core companicies which
- 19:11Speaker 6: allowed our business to grow, which allowed me to free
- 19:13Speaker 6: on my time and then create other businesses in transportation.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So okay, so at what point did you scale and
- 19:22Speaker 2: get more employees Like the first two you said, a
- 19:24Speaker 2: couple of months when you start to hire more people.
- 19:27Speaker 6: So year two, two thousand and eight, we had I
- 19:31Speaker 6: mean sorry, year one two thousand and eight, we had
- 19:33Speaker 6: two people. Twenty nineteen we scaled to about twenty and
- 19:38Speaker 6: then twenty twenty we started the year with about forty
- 19:42Speaker 6: and now we're sitting at about eighty. So you know,
- 19:44Speaker 6: the business grew as number one my business group. But
- 19:48Speaker 6: also we started to offer these same services and skill
- 19:52Speaker 6: sets and access.
- 19:53Speaker 4: To other people, to other people. So you got eighty
- 19:55Speaker 4: people in India right now, right now, who'd.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Acquired the additional ones.
- 19:59Speaker 7: Like, I know you were there for the first couple
- 20:00Speaker 7: of first two to five, but how do you get
- 20:03Speaker 7: to forty?
- 20:03Speaker 5: How do you get to eighty? Is there like a
- 20:04Speaker 5: hiring manage over there? Yeah?
- 20:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, you know, once you get to a
- 20:08Speaker 6: certain size, you put in a manager infrastructure. It's like
- 20:11Speaker 6: you would do here, and you know, we got an
- 20:13Speaker 6: HR department and you know they were responsible for, you know,
- 20:17Speaker 6: pretty much scaling that side of the business.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Okay, So who what do those eighty employees do?
- 20:23Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 20:23Speaker 6: So about forty of them work, well, about forty of
- 20:27Speaker 6: them primarily working transportation, right, supporting my company as well
- 20:32Speaker 6: as other transportation related business. The other forty they're doing
- 20:36Speaker 6: a combination of bookkeeping, our sales marketing, and account management
- 20:42Speaker 6: for other clients that we have in the space.
- 20:44Speaker 2: So, is a primary reason outsource business just because you
- 20:49Speaker 2: can pay people less?
- 20:49Speaker 4: Is that like in a nut you'll own?
- 20:51Speaker 6: No, The primary reason the outsource is really for scalability.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Number one.
- 20:56Speaker 6: If you're freeing up your time, right, you allow your
- 20:59Speaker 6: your coinmployees and you as an owner to focus on
- 21:02Speaker 6: you know, adding more businesses. You know, in the last
- 21:05Speaker 6: four years, I started six companies. That's why I have
- 21:08Speaker 6: one hundred employees here in Atlanta, and I never would
- 21:10Speaker 6: have been able to do that without outsourcing because it
- 21:13Speaker 6: allowed me to scale. They allowed me to hire a
- 21:15Speaker 6: talented group of people and then point them in the
- 21:18Speaker 6: direction of my vision and why they execute on the
- 21:20Speaker 6: back end processes of the business. My front end team
- 21:23Speaker 6: can really focus on being on the ground and executing
- 21:25Speaker 6: on the things that need to happen on the ground.
- 21:27Speaker 7: So you got a there, you built one hundred and
- 21:29Speaker 7: five here, I'm wondering the difference in the overhead course
- 21:32Speaker 7: is try to have an operation like that.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Obviously they're compared to here. Sure, what was that like?
- 21:38Speaker 4: So?
- 21:39Speaker 6: I mean the cost is about one fourth of the
- 21:41Speaker 6: costs of an employee here's one fourth there. And so
- 21:44Speaker 6: what you do is you take those savings and you
- 21:47Speaker 6: reinvest it in your current employees, right, you reinvest that
- 21:51Speaker 6: into new venture adventures, you reinvest that into technology.
- 21:54Speaker 5: And that's what that's how you scale fast. Right. When
- 21:57Speaker 5: you look at when you talk to a.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Lot of small small business owners, the biggest thing they
- 22:05Speaker 6: come in own is access to capital and not having
- 22:08Speaker 6: the capital to pay themselves, not having the capital to
- 22:11Speaker 6: promote people. And so as an owner, you always got
- 22:14Speaker 6: to look at ways to be colt sufficient in ways
- 22:17Speaker 6: you can have an environment within your company where you
- 22:20Speaker 6: can't offer benefits for instance, where you can't offer like
- 22:24Speaker 6: scalability and career progression.
- 22:26Speaker 4: So okay, so let me ask you this.
- 22:29Speaker 2: For people that just want to get their first employee,
- 22:33Speaker 2: and they might not have enough money to hire an
- 22:36Speaker 2: American employee, because there's a lot of money if you're
- 22:38Speaker 2: paying somebody, you know, especially if they work full time.
- 22:42Speaker 2: The virtual assistant route is very popular these days for.
- 22:48Speaker 4: People that might not be familiar.
- 22:49Speaker 2: What is a virtual assistant and what are some steps
- 22:52Speaker 2: for people if they are looking to hire a virtual assistant.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Sure, so, a virtual assistant is someone who comes in
- 22:58Speaker 6: your business and they under general tasks. Right, You can
- 23:02Speaker 6: get a virtual assistant to build you a website. You
- 23:05Speaker 6: can get a virtual assistant to you know, do your payroll,
- 23:10Speaker 6: you know what, whatever kind of primary perimeters you actually
- 23:14Speaker 6: set that person to ask the service.
- 23:17Speaker 2: So what what you see a lot of people do
- 23:20Speaker 2: is they go to freelance dot com, a fiver fiver
- 23:24Speaker 2: that's a big one.
- 23:25Speaker 6: They go to upward right and and you know, as
- 23:28Speaker 6: an entrepreneur, then you're responsible for evaluating that person just
- 23:32Speaker 6: like you did for the app, right, and trying to
- 23:34Speaker 6: make a determination on can they really do the job
- 23:36Speaker 6: based on your evaluation, you know, you put a payout
- 23:39Speaker 6: and then you kind of hope that they deliver on
- 23:41Speaker 6: what you kind of research.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Uh.
- 23:44Speaker 5: And that's one way of running a business. You know.
- 23:46Speaker 6: What my company is kind of you know, putting out
- 23:49Speaker 6: there as an offer to you know, small business owners,
- 23:52Speaker 6: is that we'll brain staff that's uh, that's that's qualified,
- 23:56Speaker 6: that's reference check, that can deliver, that's done the job
- 23:59Speaker 6: that you're looking to do at.
- 24:01Speaker 5: A low cost, and help scale your business. That's what
- 24:05Speaker 5: we do. So bp O that's what this is, right.
- 24:08Speaker 5: This is outsourcing. And so there's two types of outsourcing. Right.
- 24:12Speaker 7: There's the back office outsourcing and then there's the I
- 24:16Speaker 7: O outsourcing. Right, that's correct. Can you break down the
- 24:19Speaker 7: two and the differences and what they are.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:21Speaker 6: So, every industry, whether it's I, whether it's transportation, whether
- 24:27Speaker 6: it's uh real estate, has a component of their business
- 24:32Speaker 6: that they're outsourcing. What a lot of companies do, similar
- 24:35Speaker 6: to my company, is that they'll say, hey, if you're
- 24:38Speaker 6: in the real estate pay space, I can give you
- 24:41Speaker 6: an m p O, which is a mortgage process outsourcing service.
- 24:47Speaker 6: You know, I can handle all your paperwork related to closing,
- 24:50Speaker 6: and I can handle all your paperwork related to credit checks,
- 24:52Speaker 6: et cetera.
- 24:53Speaker 5: From India.
- 24:53Speaker 6: So they do the same thing with I T right,
- 24:56Speaker 6: I can handle everything in terms of app development. I
- 24:59Speaker 6: candle everything in terms of UH system communications and.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Things of that nature.
- 25:04Speaker 6: So it's just it's just outsourcing broke into different industry east, right,
- 25:09Speaker 6: So if I do retail, if I do real estate,
- 25:11Speaker 6: it's a different asset exactly.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Got exactly, So when you do the outsourcing and now
- 25:19Speaker 4: you have eighty employees, who was the first like when
- 25:22Speaker 4: you left, did you like make sure you left somebody
- 25:24Speaker 4: in India that was like from America or you just
- 25:27Speaker 4: hired something like who was the main big dog that
- 25:31Speaker 4: like stayed in India and grew the operation for you
- 25:33Speaker 4: over there.
- 25:34Speaker 6: Yeah, so, uh, Corey was actually a big part of that.
- 25:38Speaker 6: He was my operation manager and my trucking company, so
- 25:41Speaker 6: and the one who helped founded the trucking company with
- 25:44Speaker 6: me in the beginning.
- 25:45Speaker 5: So we pretty much switched right.
- 25:47Speaker 6: He came to India to continue to continue the education
- 25:50Speaker 6: part of it. And then I hired my brother to
- 25:53Speaker 6: manage my fleet here like locally and uh after a
- 25:56Speaker 6: couple of months there, we hired a resource, a couple
- 25:59Speaker 6: of resources in India to manage certain functions of the business.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Right and and in India, you can place what's called
- 26:07Speaker 6: bonds on employment. And what a bond does is pretty
- 26:11Speaker 6: much that resources agreeing to work for you for a
- 26:15Speaker 6: certain amount of time.
- 26:16Speaker 2: A bond B O, N D, B O and D like,
- 26:19Speaker 2: so they have to work for you.
- 26:23Speaker 6: No, it's like a legal contract, okay, right. You know
- 26:26Speaker 6: I'm investing this time, energy and the training you to
- 26:29Speaker 6: possibly relocating you, you know, no different than what we're
- 26:32Speaker 6: doing in corporate America.
- 26:33Speaker 5: Right.
- 26:33Speaker 6: If I relocate you from Atlanta to New York, and
- 26:36Speaker 6: you know, you decide to leave my company in New York,
- 26:38Speaker 6: then you got to pay me my relocation.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Costs, okay, right, right, So like I'm giving you all
- 26:43Speaker 7: all of this, you have to come work for me.
- 26:45Speaker 5: You can't take these skills and go somewhere else.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Exactly how long it depends, right, A blond can be
- 26:49Speaker 6: six months, it can be multiple years.
- 26:51Speaker 5: It depends on the investment. You make into that resource.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Okay, So depending on how much you game you give
- 26:57Speaker 7: them will determine how long the bond is.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Ye.
- 27:00Speaker 2: So being in India, I think it's important to have
- 27:04Speaker 2: this conversation as far as like the international perspective because
- 27:07Speaker 2: a lot of times people in general, especially business owners,
- 27:10Speaker 2: they think small and that's why one of the reasons
- 27:13Speaker 2: why small businesses stay small is because they don't think
- 27:16Speaker 2: outside of it, you know, five mile radius that they
- 27:19Speaker 2: actually are located to where they come from. So like,
- 27:23Speaker 2: going over there, how was the reception as far as
- 27:27Speaker 2: you coming from America, you being a black man from
- 27:30Speaker 2: America going overseas to India, how how was the vibe
- 27:36Speaker 2: out there as far as like how were you treated
- 27:40Speaker 2: as you know, you're doing business as an entrepreneur, hiring people,
- 27:43Speaker 2: building an establishment, Like how is that culture?
- 27:46Speaker 5: I mean? Very US friendly?
- 27:49Speaker 6: You know, as I mentioned about sixty eight percent of
- 27:52Speaker 6: large corporations.
- 27:54Speaker 5: In the US outsourced to India.
- 27:56Speaker 6: They've been doing it for forty years, so they're used
- 27:58Speaker 6: to Americans, you know, coming from the country, right, So
- 28:03Speaker 6: did I stand out at certain times?
- 28:05Speaker 5: Definitely? Man?
- 28:05Speaker 6: You know African American six'. Two you know when we're
- 28:09Speaker 6: in a dad capped some easy.
- 28:13Speaker 5: You know What i'm.
- 28:13Speaker 6: Saying SO i definitely stood, out but you, know it
- 28:17Speaker 6: all comes, to you, know knowing you're there to do.
- 28:20Speaker 6: Business so after they kind of saw like my vision
- 28:23Speaker 6: for the, company and of course my partner Is indian
- 28:25Speaker 6: and we was able to lay out.
- 28:26Speaker 5: What we wanted to.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Accomplish it was pretty easy. Man you, know you get
- 28:29Speaker 6: an attorney and you go through all the legal filings
- 28:32Speaker 6: in order to separate your.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Y up In.
- 28:34Speaker 2: India got you got An american lawyer Or indian Lawyer indian.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Lawyer so can you talk about that process a little?
- 28:40Speaker 1: Bit?
- 28:41Speaker 6: Yeah, sure, Man, so, uh you, know we we we
- 28:44Speaker 6: found so that there are law firms right in these
- 28:47Speaker 6: foreign countries that specialize in helping companies set up entities
- 28:52Speaker 6: in their. Country, Right, so whether that's you, Know, africa
- 28:55Speaker 6: whether That's, india whether That's, columbia The, philippines you, know
- 28:59Speaker 6: all these differfferent countries that actually have outsourced, operations there's
- 29:03Speaker 6: law practices that can help you build an infrastructure in
- 29:06Speaker 6: that in that country legally, anyway, right it's still up
- 29:10Speaker 6: to you to you, know do all your, hiring find
- 29:12Speaker 6: a location et. Cetera but in terms of you, know, paperwork,
- 29:15Speaker 6: taxation business, license et, cetera they can walk you through that.
- 29:18Speaker 7: Process we had a great conversation with the alumni about
- 29:23Speaker 7: just the difficulty of having, employees and So i'm, wondering.
- 29:28Speaker 5: How does how do you manage having remote?
- 29:29Speaker 7: Employees are you hands on in firings or discrepancies that
- 29:34Speaker 7: go on or is that solely given to somebody?
- 29:37Speaker 6: Else, no being that you, KNOW i own the ENTITY i,
- 29:40Speaker 6: own you, know THE us side and The indian, side
- 29:43Speaker 6: it's it's hands.
- 29:44Speaker 2: On you.
- 29:44Speaker 6: Know for the first few, highers probably the first fifty,
- 29:47Speaker 6: HIGHEST i interviewed every one of, them you, know any
- 29:51Speaker 6: any PROBLEMS i was involved in THE hr process associated with,
- 29:54Speaker 6: it and so it's no different than running my operation here,
- 29:58Speaker 6: now training, wise you, KNOW covid nineteen forced a lot
- 30:01Speaker 6: of companies to really embrace our.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Zoom But i've been doing that for Five i'm feeling
- 30:07Speaker 5: like that would help, you, Right like that's what you've
- 30:09Speaker 5: been doing.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Of, Course so it wasn't no change in my, business,
- 30:12Speaker 6: right it actually accelerated my business because a lot of
- 30:15Speaker 6: companies came to us knowing that we know how to
- 30:18Speaker 6: work virtually and asked us to you, know pretty much
- 30:20Speaker 6: staff their back office and you, know help them make that.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Transition so let me ask you, this because, earners what's?

- 33:16Speaker 4: NEED i see a lot of people.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Now it's like other countries are getting involved in the outsourcing,
- 33:21Speaker 2: game Like, Indonesia LIKE i, said we even we. Do
- 33:26Speaker 2: we did some stuff In pakistan of Course. China So
- 33:30Speaker 2: india has a large. Presence but are you seeing opportunities
- 33:34Speaker 2: in other countries or are you just focused On?
- 33:36Speaker 4: India?
- 33:36Speaker 6: No, SO i mean, overall our goal is to have
- 33:39Speaker 6: service centers in multiple. Countries and you, know certain countries
- 33:43Speaker 6: have different skill sets that they specialize, in like a
- 33:47Speaker 6: lot of, people, uh they outsource to The philippines because voice,
- 33:51Speaker 6: wise you, know you, know you call it speedy and
- 33:54Speaker 6: more than likely you're probably talking to someone In philippines
- 33:57Speaker 6: and that accent is very, americanized So, western and so
- 34:01Speaker 6: you know there's no. Difference but you, know back office
- 34:04Speaker 6: it support, accounting that's Mostly, india. Right you, know you're
- 34:10Speaker 6: seeing a lot of companies do near showing And Panema,
- 34:13Speaker 6: jamaica Our columbia because people don't feel as, comfortable you,
- 34:17Speaker 6: know with that operation being across the. Pun they wanted
- 34:20Speaker 6: to be WHERE i can actually fly two or three
- 34:22Speaker 6: hours and be there on the ground if there's a
- 34:25Speaker 6: problem or IF i need to make any changes in my. Business,
- 34:28Speaker 6: so you, know just as a, workforce THE us is
- 34:30Speaker 6: a global, economy so you're starting to see workforce be.
- 34:34Speaker 7: GLOBALIZED i mean it sounds like obviously a great opportunity
- 34:39Speaker 7: for people to maximize that. Business but what are some
- 34:42Speaker 7: of the challenges to actually start the process of. Outsourcing
- 34:45Speaker 7: what are some of the things you, saw.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Sure the biggest.
- 34:49Speaker 6: Challenges the biggest CHALLENGE i had initially was right, communication,
- 34:53Speaker 6: right because you, know sometimes you have industry slang right
- 34:58Speaker 6: that you have to teach them and have them a
- 35:00Speaker 6: app to.
- 35:03Speaker 5: Uh training.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Virtually that was you, know the biggest PROBLEM i had at.
- 35:07Speaker 6: FIRST i had to create a repository of training that
- 35:11Speaker 6: they can actually reference when they're in certain, situations you,
- 35:14Speaker 6: know and as a small, business a lot of us
- 35:16Speaker 6: we create a, business but we never create the paper
- 35:19Speaker 6: trail behind it in terms of If i'm not, here
- 35:21Speaker 6: what does this employee?
- 35:22Speaker 5: Do how they still execute on? It so it really
- 35:24Speaker 5: forced me, to you, know, uh really embrace.
- 35:27Speaker 7: Documentation so you made you made Like i'm, thinking did you,
- 35:31Speaker 7: like make like a virtual? Handbook so like it's a
- 35:33Speaker 7: prompt that comes up every time they have a question
- 35:35Speaker 7: about a.
- 35:35Speaker 5: Problem, Yep and that's most call centers that.
- 35:38Speaker 6: Outsource, right you call, in they ask you a specific
- 35:40Speaker 6: questions and usually there's something on the screen that they
- 35:43Speaker 6: can click that pretty much walks them through how to
- 35:46Speaker 6: solve your problem or respond to your question.
- 35:48Speaker 5: Before you even talk to a person you even talked.
- 35:50Speaker 2: To SO i saw you had it On. Instagram some
- 35:52Speaker 2: some things that PEOPLE i guess should look for if
- 35:54Speaker 2: they look on the. Outsource the first was decide which
- 35:57Speaker 2: tax the? Outsource? Sure so can you talk about?
- 35:59Speaker 6: That so you should you should focus on your, WEAKNESSES
- 36:03Speaker 6: i mean, sorry focus on your. Screens, right that should
- 36:05Speaker 6: be the core of your. Business that's something you should
- 36:06Speaker 6: do and hold close to. Vest but you should outsource
- 36:09Speaker 6: all your. Weaknesses so if you're not good in, accounting
- 36:13Speaker 6: then you should outsource the. Counting whether you're outsourcing it
- 36:15Speaker 6: to A cpa in THE us or you're outsourcing it,
- 36:18Speaker 6: overseas somebody else should do, it, right same with you
- 36:22Speaker 6: KNOW i if you have an idea for an, app
- 36:25Speaker 6: but you don't have the time or money right to spend.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Educating yourself on, it then you outsource it to another.
- 36:31Speaker 6: Enemy, right you have the, idea focus on your, ideas
- 36:35Speaker 6: focus on what you're strong, at and then outsource the
- 36:37Speaker 6: things that you won't deliver it.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Upon so what about platform choosing a platform for?
- 36:43Speaker 5: Outsourcing, yeah, uh it depends on the, task.
- 36:46Speaker 6: Right you got certain things like IF i wanted to
- 36:50Speaker 6: have a website, built THEN i may go to your
- 36:53Speaker 6: upwork OR i may go to your your. Fiber but
- 36:56Speaker 6: IF i want to IF i want, dysfunction which is
- 36:59Speaker 6: like a cost related, FUNCTION i wanted my collections department handled,
- 37:03Speaker 6: offshore THEN i want to go to a minute services
- 37:05Speaker 6: company like, mine WHERE i can, Say, hey this is
- 37:08Speaker 6: the FUNCTION i want you to do on the behalf
- 37:10Speaker 6: of my.
- 37:10Speaker 5: COMPANY i want you to have a staff.
- 37:12Speaker 6: That answers the, phone that responds to email as if
- 37:15Speaker 6: they're mean right and still deliver the same quality and
- 37:19Speaker 6: service to my. Customers so it's identifying the. Task and
- 37:22Speaker 6: then once you identify the, task then what kind of
- 37:25Speaker 6: outsourced component SHOULD i? Use should it be A, va
- 37:28Speaker 6: should it be a minute services? Company or should it
- 37:30Speaker 6: be what's called a? Captive and a captive is you,
- 37:33Speaker 6: KNOW i want you to come in as an outsourcing
- 37:35Speaker 6: company and build my, center, right build me A metromax
- 37:40Speaker 6: and then give me the keys and walk away almost like,
- 37:42Speaker 6: given like turnkey real.
- 37:43Speaker 5: Estate has technology ever been problematic for?
- 37:49Speaker 7: YOU i, MEAN i know that when we try to
- 37:51Speaker 7: use like a virtual meeting sometimes obviously even here Like
- 37:54Speaker 7: Wi fi is not. Great BUT i can imagine for
- 37:56Speaker 7: if a business is relying on the virtual set up and,
- 38:00Speaker 7: technologies then what do we? Do?
- 38:02Speaker 6: Man one THING i learned about being in Corporate america
- 38:05Speaker 6: is having. Redundancy so for, us we got two. Offices
- 38:08Speaker 6: we got one In bangalore and we got one in Job, North,
- 38:11Speaker 6: india and so and they work off you, know they're
- 38:14Speaker 6: in different locations of, course and so if one is,
- 38:17Speaker 6: down we always got the redundancy of.
- 38:19Speaker 2: The other to still you, know satisfy our services and pretty.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Much make sure our uptown is still available for our.
- 38:25Speaker 7: Clients so two different parts Of india like. Completely, okay
- 38:29Speaker 7: got you?
- 38:30Speaker 4: Right so you said don't always go with the lowest bid.
- 38:34Speaker 5: In terms of.
- 38:35Speaker 6: Service yeah, no, man YOU i mean you pay for, quality,
- 38:39Speaker 6: Right so it's no different than any other business when
- 38:42Speaker 6: you evaluate if somebody work for your, business you, know
- 38:46Speaker 6: look at the quality, first and if the quality makes,
- 38:49Speaker 6: sense you, know the price of the line to.
- 38:51Speaker 4: That in quality would be their past, work, right past.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Work you know you check. REFERENCES i always check.
- 38:58Speaker 6: References we actually asked our employees to provide us you,
- 39:01Speaker 6: know you know examples for, instance you, know before you
- 39:06Speaker 6: interview with, us if you if you're specializing digital, marketing
- 39:10Speaker 6: we're gonna give you an assignment and so you know
- 39:13Speaker 6: it may be, hey build this, website, right and these
- 39:17Speaker 6: are the parameters for. It and then once you deliver
- 39:19Speaker 6: on that, website we check your. References we know that
- 39:22Speaker 6: you know you're at a certain percentage of, credibility.
- 39:26Speaker 2: So you can all, Right so your business model in
- 39:29Speaker 2: my brain works because you get an employee From india
- 39:33Speaker 2: for twenty five percent of what you can get In. America,
- 39:35Speaker 2: Right so if you're gonna pay some one hundred thousand
- 39:37Speaker 2: dollar In, america you can pay them twenty five thousand
- 39:38Speaker 2: dollars In.
- 39:39Speaker 4: India let's just use the round. Numbers, sure.
- 39:43Speaker 2: And then so you can potentially charge another twenty five
- 39:46Speaker 2: thousand on top of, that but you're still paying fifty
- 39:51Speaker 2: percent cheaper than what you would pay In.
- 39:54Speaker 4: America is that kind Of DID i get that kind of?
- 39:56Speaker 5: Right that's? True that's. TRUE i mean the cost savings
- 39:58Speaker 5: is a is a big part of of.
- 40:00Speaker 6: It but ALSO i get quick access to, talent AND
- 40:03Speaker 6: i can scale that talent up and down AS i want.
- 40:05Speaker 6: To All, right you TAKE covid, nineteen, RIGHT a lot
- 40:08Speaker 6: of businesses revenue. Fluctuated if my revenue, fluctuate, Right number,
- 40:12Speaker 6: ONE i got a pretty healthy margin in terms of
- 40:15Speaker 6: room to. Operate but number, TWO i can scale that
- 40:18Speaker 6: operation down pretty.
- 40:19Speaker 5: Quickly.
- 40:20Speaker 6: Right you, know employment, laws regulations and stuff like that
- 40:23Speaker 6: are a little different in foreign countries versus. Here and,
- 40:26Speaker 6: secondly if my you, know if my customer base and
- 40:28Speaker 6: client base started to increase, SIGNIFICANTLY i can go higher.
- 40:31Speaker 6: Rapidly and that's the advantage to, outsourcing, right not only
- 40:36Speaker 6: just you, know cost, savings but, scalability process, improvement you,
- 40:42Speaker 6: know taking low hanging things that you don't want your
- 40:45Speaker 6: core people to focus.
- 40:46Speaker 5: On having another division of talented individuals.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Handled it's a good business model, actually and it makes.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Sense so win win for everybody because you, still LIKE i,
- 40:56Speaker 2: said you're still paying less than what you would have.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Paid and if you're trying to do it, yourself like
- 41:00Speaker 2: on five or one of, these it's, like, yeah you
- 41:03Speaker 2: can potentially get burnt because you're trying to do your due.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Diligence but it's still a different. Country how do you
- 41:09Speaker 2: know how to vet? Somebody so it's always good to
- 41:11Speaker 2: have people on the ground where you, have like people
- 41:14Speaker 2: that's In india vetting these. People so you've you've created
- 41:18Speaker 2: a whole system around. That it's, good good. Idea thank you.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Brother it took a lot of time and. Money, man
- 41:26Speaker 2: it went.
- 41:27Speaker 7: Overnight but, yeah when the first time you got The metromax,
- 41:30Speaker 7: idea that was a. Vision what has changed since that initial?
- 41:34Speaker 7: Vision have you seen things that, like you know what
- 41:35Speaker 7: we need to add? This you saw somebody else doing,
- 41:37Speaker 7: something we can add this to our.
- 41:38Speaker 5: Business, Yeah SO i mean over the, years you, know
- 41:41Speaker 5: our foundation was.
- 41:42Speaker 6: Transportation that's that's what we started in because that's that's
- 41:44Speaker 6: what my my my business was focused. On but you,
- 41:48Speaker 6: know after you, know meeting a lot of clients, networking
- 41:52Speaker 6: we got companies that want us to handle accounting for,
- 41:55Speaker 6: them you, know handle the back end for their accounting.
- 41:57Speaker 5: Firm we recently built two app for one.
- 42:00Speaker 6: Company, Right they struggled for a year trying to find
- 42:04Speaker 6: good software, developers good software engineers and pretty much afford.
- 42:08Speaker 6: Them and so we came in and knocked it out
- 42:10Speaker 6: in four. WEEKS i was able to hire you, know
- 42:16Speaker 6: ten ten developers and put them on it for four
- 42:18Speaker 6: weeks and executed within their. Budget so you know that
- 42:22Speaker 6: that's the power of you, know being able to leverage certain. Talents,
- 42:25Speaker 6: globally everyone's here probably tied up, right their project was
- 42:29Speaker 6: too small for certain developers, Here but globally it may
- 42:33Speaker 6: be some hungry developers that are that are eat it
- 42:35Speaker 6: up if they get the, opportunity.
- 42:37Speaker 5: It's great opportunities for. Them.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah so you you, said like some people that
- 42:42Speaker 2: might need oversee or outsourcing S ceo and digital marketing
- 42:47Speaker 2: on that was interesting to. Me in audio and video,
- 42:51Speaker 2: editors that's also interesting to.
- 42:52Speaker 4: Me so digital. Marketing what is that somebody that's running
- 42:56Speaker 4: like your social.
- 42:57Speaker 5: Media sure they.
- 42:59Speaker 6: Can do everything thing from you, know ad campaigns to designing,
- 43:03Speaker 6: websites designing fly.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Editing the, content posting the. Content they can do. Everything you.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Know it just depends on how involved you you want
- 43:13Speaker 2: them in your. Space, Okay so audio and video, editor
- 43:17Speaker 2: how does that? Work because in my, ran like video
- 43:19Speaker 2: editor somebody that's recording the, video but they like here
- 43:22Speaker 2: recording the. Video so you would have to get somebody
- 43:25Speaker 2: here to record like video and then send it to
- 43:27Speaker 2: them to edit it exactly.
- 43:29Speaker 6: EXACTLY i, mean you still got your primary recorder, here
- 43:31Speaker 6: but they'll do all the editing according to kind of
- 43:34Speaker 6: what your vision that.
- 43:35Speaker 5: You lay out for what you want to.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Display so financing and, accounting they Study american accounting, laws
- 43:44Speaker 2: even though they don't they Know american. ACCOUNTING i, mean.
- 43:48Speaker 4: It's.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Crazy So i'm saying it was, crazy.
- 43:50Speaker 6: Bro so you know we got we got Ernestin, young
- 43:54Speaker 6: we Got, deloitte you, know big four accounting.
- 43:57Speaker 5: Company their back office is In. India, already they're.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Already accustomed to working With american companies, right and and
- 44:07Speaker 6: doing those functions. Right english is the second language you,
- 44:10Speaker 6: know we're one of the biggest importer of of revenue and.
- 44:15Speaker 5: And uh and jobs in that. Country so they're very
- 44:18Speaker 5: accustomed to all our. Components so the same rules apply
- 44:21Speaker 5: for real estate as.
- 44:22Speaker 7: Well real estate as, Well so they're studying all the
- 44:24Speaker 7: laws that have to governance to The United.
- 44:26Speaker 5: States most of the big law, companies, right they have
- 44:29Speaker 5: what's called l.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Pos you know that's, uh that's like legal processing and,
- 44:34Speaker 2: outsourcing and their back office is being handled from The
- 44:37Speaker 2: philippines Or.
- 44:37Speaker 6: India, Right they're not doing the. Paperwork the lawyers are
- 44:41Speaker 6: spending their time in. Court, uh the paperwork and you, know,
- 44:45Speaker 6: uh consolidation of you, know statements for the for the
- 44:49Speaker 6: actual hearing is being done.
- 44:50Speaker 5: OFFSHORE i feel like we just pulled back the current
- 44:53Speaker 5: on some. Things, yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 2: So they, Studying they Studying american, law they Study american real,
- 45:01Speaker 2: estate studying everything.
- 45:02Speaker 4: In a marinatill so they can have knowledge to actually
- 45:05Speaker 4: do the.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Job so so offshore online.
- 45:08Speaker 6: And it goes it goes the other way around, too,
- 45:10Speaker 6: RIGHT i, MEAN i study them SO i can do
- 45:12Speaker 6: business with, them, Right just like how even Though i'm
- 45:17Speaker 6: A us, company now That i'm doing business In, INDIA i,
- 45:21Speaker 6: SEE i see opportunities to do business In, india, RIGHT
- 45:25Speaker 6: i see real estate. OPPORTUNITIES i, see, uh opportunities to
- 45:29Speaker 6: add technology stuff that we're currently doing here in THE
- 45:32Speaker 6: us that they don't have.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Access let'st's talk about that because that's. Interesting so, yeah
- 45:37Speaker 2: let's talk about. That so you're gonna buy real estate out? There,
- 45:40Speaker 2: sure how's that gonna? Work you know the same as
- 45:44Speaker 2: you know buying real estate in The.
- 45:46Speaker 6: Bahamas you, KNOW i contact a lawyer to pretty much
- 45:49Speaker 6: facilitate the, transaction real estate lawyer to have agents that identify,
- 45:54Speaker 6: properties you, know due to the analysis in term their,
- 45:58Speaker 6: evaluations and, UH i make the.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Payment how how's the how's the like pricing for real?
- 46:03Speaker 2: Estate is it one fourth for What america? Is because
- 46:08Speaker 2: it matches the cost of.
- 46:09Speaker 6: Living the cost of living is, less so the cost
- 46:11Speaker 6: of real estate is, less the cost of services is,
- 46:13Speaker 6: less so like a.
- 46:14Speaker 4: Good so what are you trying? About commercial buildings on
- 46:17Speaker 4: homes or definitely.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Buildings we are already in the process of buying you,
- 46:20Speaker 6: know the building we occupy in The bangalore and you,
- 46:24Speaker 6: know we plan on pretty much buying every.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Facility how big is that?
- 46:28Speaker 5: Building right?
- 46:29Speaker 2: Now It's, uh it's probably around seventy thousand square, feet
- 46:35Speaker 2: and how much you're gonna pay for.
- 46:36Speaker 5: It.
- 46:38Speaker 2: It'll be under well under half a, million under under
- 46:41Speaker 2: half a, million seventy seventy thousand. Squiffeet you know What i'm, saying, man.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Two thousand square for five hundred, thousands.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Right india is also one of these countries that's expected
- 46:54Speaker 2: to have a huge economic boom sure in the next
- 46:57Speaker 2: twenty thirty. Years it's Like china where the middle class
- 47:01Speaker 2: has grown. Drastically there's still a lot of poverty out,
- 47:05Speaker 2: there but there's a lot of rich people and that
- 47:08Speaker 2: they're moving into upper middle class and. Wealthy it's like
- 47:11Speaker 2: very similar to the pattern That china.
- 47:13Speaker 5: Took technology is accelerating it as.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Well SO i would assume that you, know as people
- 47:17Speaker 2: increase their, income real estate prices will increase as.
- 47:20Speaker 6: Well definitely the cost of, Services, uh the couse of
- 47:23Speaker 6: employment will increase as. Well so it goes hand in
- 47:26Speaker 6: hand as a as an economy, matures, right it becomes
- 47:30Speaker 6: more expensive to.
- 47:31Speaker 5: Operating So i'm.
- 47:34Speaker 7: Glad you said that they're studying, us but you're also studying.
- 47:37Speaker 7: Them is this something even from a technological standpoint that
- 47:40Speaker 7: you saw happening here that you were, like, look they
- 47:43Speaker 7: don't know about this, yet let me introduce.
- 47:45Speaker 5: It, YEAH i mean uber that's going uh door.
- 47:50Speaker 4: Dash they don't have. That they don't have that out. There,
- 47:53Speaker 4: yeah why not?
- 47:56Speaker 6: Infrastructure you know h xs to you, know how it's
- 48:02Speaker 6: put together and how to deploy. It it's various, reasons
- 48:06Speaker 6: but you know we look at.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Those.
- 48:08Speaker 6: Is you, know you may have in certain pockets that
- 48:11Speaker 6: they have certain, technologies but it's not widely. Broadcast the
- 48:15Speaker 6: one thing we're very good in THE us is one of,
- 48:17Speaker 6: services a service. Takeoff, right we know how to communicate
- 48:21Speaker 6: it to the vast group and then we know how
- 48:23Speaker 6: to get investors behind it and pump it up.
- 48:25Speaker 5: Fast.
- 48:26Speaker 6: Right that's that market is still kind of. Tentative In,
- 48:29Speaker 6: india it's still it's still growing because they're growing, company,
- 48:32Speaker 6: sorry a growing. Country so it's still maturing in terms,
- 48:35Speaker 6: of you, know getting foreign investments to invest in you,
- 48:38Speaker 6: know local technologies and local infrastructure infrastructures to improve their.
- 48:42Speaker 6: Business usually that's the other way, around, right people Like, China,
- 48:46Speaker 6: right they get a lot of money and they come
- 48:47Speaker 6: and invest in THE. Us, Right it's very few people
- 48:51Speaker 6: that get a lot of money in invest In. China
- 48:52Speaker 6: there's very few people in THE us who make a
- 48:54Speaker 6: lot of money and go invest In. India i'll let
- 48:56Speaker 6: you like a heads fund or something like.
- 48:57Speaker 2: That yeah that's, true because, YEAH i mean they do
- 49:01Speaker 2: it all the. Time so it's, like why not reverse
- 49:05Speaker 2: white white can't be a small.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Gentified their hood.
- 49:09Speaker 5: Playing your. Flag that's.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Great so what you, say you're looking about real estate
- 49:13Speaker 2: and you're looking to start a. Business what kind of
- 49:15Speaker 2: business are you looking? At start a couple. Opportunities, uh
- 49:18Speaker 2: even you know.
- 49:19Speaker 6: Tech you, know we hire those software developers to you,
- 49:22Speaker 6: know support one, company and we just kept them on
- 49:24Speaker 6: staff and so they're developing technologies not only for our
- 49:27Speaker 6: clients in THE, us but things we want to actually
- 49:30Speaker 6: try to you, know implement In.
- 49:31Speaker 5: India, Dope So mark's going to create The indian uber.
- 49:39Speaker 6: Pretty, much somebody's probably already running running that, play you,
- 49:43Speaker 6: know But i'm gonna definitely put my, uh you, know
- 49:46Speaker 6: put a good.
- 49:46Speaker 5: Flip that's that's that's that's. Brilliant that's really.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Brilliant what is some myths that people might have about
- 49:52Speaker 2: outsourcing that my the quality of my business is going to.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Decrease i'm not going to get the best.
- 49:59Speaker 6: Serve my customer is not going to have the best
- 50:02Speaker 6: experience in terms of customer, Service they're not going to.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Deliver we, Got, well it happened to, us the biggest
- 50:11Speaker 2: Deliver it happened to. Us, Thanks so what what mistake
- 50:14Speaker 2: did we? Make we just didn't properly vet. People, Yeah
- 50:17Speaker 2: mike can do a good. Job i'm joking basically pretty what.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Happened but actually we still love, them you.
- 50:26Speaker 6: Know, Bro, uh it's just really just checking the box
- 50:30Speaker 6: man in terms of you, know knowing exactly what you're
- 50:33Speaker 6: looking for and how to weed them. Out you, know
- 50:36Speaker 6: like you, know posting the job ad to say these
- 50:38Speaker 6: are our exact requirements and if you have these, requirements
- 50:41Speaker 6: you can do this job. Easily that's gonna weed out
- 50:44Speaker 6: a lot of, people right just by saying that word
- 50:46Speaker 6: you can do this job, easily because they're, like damn
