- 0:07Speaker 1: Bulet cav Show Special guests in here. Denzel Curry was good. Welcome, welcome.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You know, I feel like I've been trying to interview
- 0:16Speaker 1: you for like fucking eight years now, so it's good
- 0:18Speaker 1: to finally link with you. Man. Listen when I mean,
- 0:23Speaker 1: I think I told you this before then, Like you know,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I was really hard at reaching you know, not reaching
- 0:28Speaker 1: out to people and shit, like I just didn't do it.
- 0:30Speaker 1: But you know, we finally hear, we finally get to talk.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I feel like we're I was talking to somebody in
- 0:36Speaker 1: your team last year. But did you have like an
- 0:37Speaker 1: injury or something? Like did you did you like hurt
- 0:41Speaker 1: some part of your body or something? And I mean
- 0:43Speaker 1: I got an injury now. I know you got injury now,
- 0:46Speaker 1: but this was probably like back in like twenty nineteen then,
- 0:49Speaker 1: probably because I did have a crazy injury then because
- 0:52Speaker 1: that's when I was on tour with Billy Eilish and shit,
- 0:54Speaker 1: I think that's what it was. Yeah, how's how is
- 0:57Speaker 1: that touring with Billy Eilish. Well, Billy Eilisch, that's my dog.
- 1:00Speaker 1: You know, she seems super chill. Oh she's cool as fuck,
- 1:03Speaker 1: But like, what is that like because you're your stage
- 1:07Speaker 1: presence is insane. Your music is extremely like I feel
- 1:12Speaker 1: like it's built for like live environments, right, But that's
- 1:17Speaker 1: a different type of vibe, right man, it's a lot
- 1:20Speaker 1: of little girls. The whole thing with the Billie Elis tour.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It just opened my eyes to like what I could
- 1:26Speaker 1: possibly be doing, you know. So what I mean by
- 1:29Speaker 1: that is like I was doing venues and clubs and
- 1:31Speaker 1: stuff like that, and you know, that's pretty much easy
- 1:34Speaker 1: for me, very successfully. I might add, yeah, thank you, thanks,
- 1:37Speaker 1: But when I got to do those arenas, it was different.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I see what Kanye West was talking about when he
- 1:44Speaker 1: went on tour with YouTube, like he wanted to make
- 1:47Speaker 1: music for like arenas and shit like that. So with
- 1:50Speaker 1: her giving me the opportunity to open up for her
- 1:52Speaker 1: own tour, I felt like that was gangster because I
- 1:54Speaker 1: never heard my music in that kind of environment before.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So it made me look at my music differently. It
- 2:00Speaker 1: made you kind of like I feel like there is
- 2:03Speaker 1: there is a such thing as like making music for
- 2:06Speaker 1: renus like we think of like people are like, yo,
- 2:08Speaker 1: this is a festival record. This is gonna go crazy
- 2:10Speaker 1: in front of at Coachella. Like so now when you
- 2:13Speaker 1: go in and you record certain records, you'll have that
- 2:15Speaker 1: in mind because you've actually been through it. Yeah, I
- 2:19Speaker 1: mean a lot of that shit is like synth heavy
- 2:21Speaker 1: and bass heavy, you know what I'm saying. And I
- 2:23Speaker 1: just want to be able to have the crowd singing
- 2:25Speaker 1: my lyrics because to be honest with you, like I'll
- 2:28Speaker 1: be rapping fast and then I'll be saying big words
- 2:30Speaker 1: and people like, I'll give you all these type of
- 2:33Speaker 1: metaphors and sometimes it hit and sometimes it miss and
- 2:35Speaker 1: people be like, what the fuck you talking about? Denzel?
- 2:37Speaker 1: You know, it's never like real straight up. But with
- 2:40Speaker 1: just me working now, I feel like melody is always
- 2:44Speaker 1: gonna win. Like we know songs just based off the
- 2:46Speaker 1: melody like ABCD or you know all that shit. You
- 2:49Speaker 1: can hum it and you'll be like, I know what
- 2:50Speaker 1: that is? You No twinkle twinkle, a little starry, same shit?
- 2:53Speaker 1: How would someone hum ultimate? So was Billy Elis just
- 3:00Speaker 1: a fan of you? And like what like was it
- 3:02Speaker 1: her idea? Like how did that happen? Because that's kind
- 3:04Speaker 1: of she's young, you know, all right? It happened in
- 3:08Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, fyf that's when she came to my show
- 3:10Speaker 1: for the first time. I'm like one of her favorite rappers, Okay,
- 3:13Speaker 1: And I didn't even know I was one of her
- 3:14Speaker 1: favorite rappers until she told me in twenty seventeen, because
- 3:17Speaker 1: that's where we've met officially. And the first time we met,
- 3:20Speaker 1: we was at the studio. We was, you know, supposed
- 3:22Speaker 1: to work on the record. It was me, her and Phineas,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and we didn't even make a record. We were just
- 3:29Speaker 1: cracking jokes the whole time we went to go get
- 3:31Speaker 1: a side boat, go eat. We were just you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: talking to each other, just you know, just cutting up.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Then our relationship started to build more and more over
- 3:40Speaker 1: time is you know, as time progressed and shit, And
- 3:44Speaker 1: basically you know, she came to the studio and worked
- 3:46Speaker 1: on Sirens, which is with me and Jed on a
- 3:49Speaker 1: taboo on record. Yeah, you know, shout out to Billy. Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 1: She seems to be like someone who's like, despite all
- 3:55Speaker 1: the fame and being one of the biggest, you know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: pop stars in the world, she seems pretty like every
- 4:00Speaker 1: time I see her talking or doing an interviews, she
- 4:02Speaker 1: seems like a humble, cool chick. Bro. She's down to
- 4:05Speaker 1: earth as fuck, and I think she wears Jinkos, which
- 4:07Speaker 1: is awesome. I don't even know what that is. But
- 4:09Speaker 1: Jinko pants, Jinko. You don't remember Jinko. How old are
- 4:12Speaker 1: you well, dude, yeah, twenty seven, Yeah, you don't remember Jinkos.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Here's the thing, man, I mean pockets. Juggalos used to
- 4:18Speaker 1: wear them. Oh you talk about like insaaning clomba posse
- 4:21Speaker 1: type shit. No, you don't remember the Jinko pants, huge
- 4:25Speaker 1: legs and the pockets were like the size of this
- 4:28Speaker 1: TV oll. No oh man, no, b there was in
- 4:32Speaker 1: Florida wearing them somewhere. I wasn't wearing them. They're probably
- 4:35Speaker 1: wearing them in the middle of flo Like Pole County
- 4:37Speaker 1: had them for sure. You know what I'm saying, I
- 4:38Speaker 1: don't know about not Dad County, not Dade County. Yo.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You are a pioneer, though. I want to give you
- 4:44Speaker 1: love because I would always be interviewing some of these. Uh.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You know, I feel like sou South Florida in general
- 4:53Speaker 1: has really had its its moment. It's still happening, but
- 4:57Speaker 1: it kind of really kicked off like where nationally, like
- 5:00Speaker 1: some of the bigger artists were all from you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: obviously Kodak Black is one of those guys ex little Pump.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You know, we can go on and on and on,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but I do feel like you and uh, the Raider
- 5:13Speaker 1: Clan really kicked off that entire just that whole entire
- 5:17Speaker 1: wave out of South Florida. I mean, of course, and
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna give a respect. Whereas dude, you know, like
- 5:23Speaker 1: Space goes Perp really was like the driving force for
- 5:26Speaker 1: that ship at the time when he first came out
- 5:28Speaker 1: and him and Rocky was running together until the beef happened.
- 5:31Speaker 1: But when it came down, the Raider Clan and the
- 5:33Speaker 1: whole aesthetic and everything before we disbanded, like we was
- 5:36Speaker 1: really trying to bombard the industry on some shit like
- 5:39Speaker 1: when we was young and we was all in high
- 5:40Speaker 1: school at the time, Like y'all laid the roots for
- 5:42Speaker 1: all this other shit that's going on, you know what
- 5:44Speaker 1: I'm saying. For sure, of course all that shit came
- 5:46Speaker 1: from us. Yeah, one hundred percent. And yeah, you definitely
- 5:49Speaker 1: you need to get to get your flowers fat. Yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 1: it's crazy because when you think about it, we were
- 5:53Speaker 1: just talking about it yesterday, The Asap Rocky Space goes
- 5:55Speaker 1: Perp thing, such an unfortunate thing. Because it's like, what
- 6:00Speaker 1: what if that never would have happened? Like you know
- 6:01Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, man, listen, if that would have
- 6:04Speaker 1: never happened, you know, we probably would have had a
- 6:06Speaker 1: stronghold on the game right now, you know what I'm saying,
- 6:09Speaker 1: because we was like the driving force of the culture,
- 6:11Speaker 1: both Raider Clan and a Sap. Yeah, and a lot
- 6:16Speaker 1: of the aesthetic and a lot of the vibe. I
- 6:17Speaker 1: feel like that Rocky had for the Asap Mob, you know,
- 6:21Speaker 1: was heavily influenced by the Raider Clan shit as well. Yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I mean when it came down to everything that was
- 6:28Speaker 1: going on, and then you know when Purp and Rocky
- 6:30Speaker 1: was going through it and shit, and you know, black
- 6:33Speaker 1: Land Radio six six point six did come out before
- 6:36Speaker 1: I heard Live Love a Sap or Paxos. You get
- 6:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So I still have respect for Rocky.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I still respect Rocky to this day. You get what
- 6:45Speaker 1: I'm saying. But I give credit where on credit is due.
- 6:48Speaker 1: If it wasn't for Purp and it wasn't for Raider Clan,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I want to have a platform to be Denzel Curry.
- 6:52Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying, right, So, I'm gonna always
- 6:55Speaker 1: give respect to that, regardless of what the fuck me
- 6:57Speaker 1: and this nigga Purp go through, right, you know what
- 6:59Speaker 1: I mean? What's your relationship? Like, what is Purp up to?
- 7:02Speaker 1: Do you do you have a relationship with him anymore?
- 7:05Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't talk to food like that.
- 7:07Speaker 1: He don't talk to me. I don't talk to him,
- 7:08Speaker 1: but we still you know, he'll big me up and
- 7:11Speaker 1: then he'll disrespect me in the same week. Yeah, you know,
- 7:16Speaker 1: but it's all love from my point, and I hope
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's all love from him, and it is what it is. Well,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I was telling you this, man, I do feel like
- 7:24Speaker 1: for us, you're you're very successful, but I still feel
- 7:29Speaker 1: like somehow you're like underappreciated in the industry because I
- 7:32Speaker 1: feel like you're one of the most versatile rappers artists
- 7:35Speaker 1: period in the last decade or so, you know, Like
- 7:39Speaker 1: listening to I just listened to your well ninety nine
- 7:42Speaker 1: percent of your new album, I'm like, man, like the
- 7:45Speaker 1: shit that you can do between melodies, between the fast
- 7:49Speaker 1: rap shit, between the boom bab shit. It's there's just
- 7:52Speaker 1: not a lot of people who can cover all those
- 7:53Speaker 1: bases and cover them very well and organically, if that
- 7:56Speaker 1: makes sense. Well, a lot of that shit get lost
- 7:58Speaker 1: in translations because I'm not popular. If you want to
- 8:02Speaker 1: be real, you know what I'm saying, Like, you're not
- 8:03Speaker 1: pop music. Yeah, I'm not pop music, So you got
- 8:06Speaker 1: to really dig into crevice to be like, oh, I
- 8:08Speaker 1: listened to Denzel Curry, like, you know, my music was
- 8:12Speaker 1: catered to a niche crowd. You dig yeah, and me
- 8:16Speaker 1: when it comes down to this album, I just want everybody.
- 8:19Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if you're a Denzel Curry fan or not.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I want you to feel that shit period. Is this
- 8:24Speaker 1: the first album that you took that approach with? Yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 1: I took my feelings first before I took me what
- 8:30Speaker 1: I was gonna think about rapping about it was my feelings,
- 8:34Speaker 1: Like whatever I felt, I know people have the same feelings,
- 8:36Speaker 1: so I'm gonna write what I feel instead of writing
- 8:39Speaker 1: what I know. I like that. I like that. I
- 8:43Speaker 1: would just learn that you do muay Thai. Yeah, you've
- 8:46Speaker 1: been doing it since twenty seventeen. But if a little
- 8:50Speaker 1: bit of background, keV a lot of my brothers, Like
- 8:54Speaker 1: my brothers, you know, been in the streets and shit
- 8:57Speaker 1: like that. I'm the only one out of my brothers
- 8:59Speaker 1: that never been a jet you know what I'm saying.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I lost one of my brothers. But the brother I
- 9:03Speaker 1: did lose, he was a backyard fighter back in the
- 9:06Speaker 1: day with like Kimbo Slice and then got our five thousand. Yeah,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and all them videos are crazy. And that was all
- 9:11Speaker 1: in Miami. Yeah, And there was a movie that he
- 9:14Speaker 1: was in called Dog Fights. So I'm just letting you
- 9:16Speaker 1: putting you up on game. And I was also in
- 9:19Speaker 1: the movie too, but that was like twelve year old Denzel.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And if you go on YouTube to this day and
- 9:23Speaker 1: you look up like fights like Level Martinez versus Alfonso
- 9:27Speaker 1: and all those bad fights, you know, crazy. If you
- 9:31Speaker 1: look at Tree versus Mike, you gonna see me there
- 9:35Speaker 1: in a white tea holding a camera up. She used
- 9:37Speaker 1: to be in the backyard. I used to be in
- 9:39Speaker 1: the backyard like dead ass, like I'm not even gonna
- 9:41Speaker 1: sit here in lots of How would they organize those
- 9:44Speaker 1: things because bruh, Like my brother would just come in
- 9:46Speaker 1: the room and he'd be like, Hey, you want to
- 9:48Speaker 1: come over here and see me fight? And I'm like,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I you know, I would go there. It'll be in Paran.
- 9:54Speaker 1: In the middle of Paran. It'll be a little greenhouse
- 9:57Speaker 1: and a big ass backyard, and they were check you
- 10:01Speaker 1: at the gate to see if you got guns, knives, whatever.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And if you got guns and knives whatever, you gotta
- 10:05Speaker 1: go put that shit in your car. And then you
- 10:07Speaker 1: come in. They check kids too, so you going there,
- 10:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And there'd be a ring
- 10:12Speaker 1: in there. At first, it was like a box ring
- 10:14Speaker 1: at first. He didn't have no ring at all. Some
- 10:16Speaker 1: of the videos there was just there's just no ring. Yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 1: it was just people crowding around. At first they didn't
- 10:20Speaker 1: have a ring. Then they had a ring, then they
- 10:22Speaker 1: had an octa gun, then they had a triangle that
- 10:25Speaker 1: was like the final you know. And just being back
- 10:28Speaker 1: there and just watching all these fights, you hearing the
- 10:30Speaker 1: beef go down with people and shit, you know, and
- 10:33Speaker 1: you're just like, Yo, what the fuck is going on?
- 10:35Speaker 1: Like you see a big guys, dude, like I'm gonna
- 10:37Speaker 1: get you, nigga, I'm gonna get Like what the fuck?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Like right, yeah, And I'm twelve years old looking at
- 10:41Speaker 1: all this shit, like Yo, this is like some real
- 10:44Speaker 1: fighting shit, Like there's some real tournament shit, and I'm
- 10:47Speaker 1: watching people get knocked the fuck out. I'm watching blood
- 10:50Speaker 1: just gushing just out of my brother's nose. Did your
- 10:53Speaker 1: brother ever fight Kimbo? Nah? Hell, Kimbo was already like
- 10:58Speaker 1: in a UFC around this time. I mean, but Dada
- 11:02Speaker 1: was Dada and Kimbo used to roll with each other
- 11:05Speaker 1: until they kind of fell out, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And around that time it was just Dada and what
- 11:11Speaker 1: Dada was doing in the backyards. But Kimbo was before that,
- 11:14Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So you know, long lived Kimbo,
- 11:17Speaker 1: you feel me. So that was kind of the origins
- 11:19Speaker 1: of your that got you interested in learning how to fight.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I mean, I had to learn how to fight. I
- 11:24Speaker 1: had too many brothers to not know how to fight.
- 11:26Speaker 1: How many brothers do you have, Well, one of them pasted.
- 11:29Speaker 1: It was four of us. Okay, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:32Speaker 1: And were you the youngest, I'm the youngest. Oh yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 1: I mean you got to learn that. I gotta learn
- 11:35Speaker 1: how to fight. I was like, like, he is getting
- 11:39Speaker 1: bullied outside of the house and getting bullied inside the house.
- 11:41Speaker 1: So I had to learn how to fight either way
- 11:42Speaker 1: to go. So in twenty seventeen. You take a muy Thai, Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: what kind of give us the rundown on like just
- 11:51Speaker 1: the muay Thai shit because you were you're very passionate
- 11:53Speaker 1: about it. Well, I don't think a lot of people
- 11:55Speaker 1: know because you was You're very you know your shit, man. Well,
- 11:58Speaker 1: when it comes down to muy time, man, I like, well,
- 12:01Speaker 1: I stopped smoking weed right, And this was back in
- 12:04Speaker 1: twenty seventeen. I felt like my life was gonna be
- 12:06Speaker 1: boring because I wasn't like smoking right, and then I
- 12:08Speaker 1: was like, you know, might as well start drinking too,
- 12:11Speaker 1: So I just looked up. I remember I was doing
- 12:13Speaker 1: martial arts with my brothers and stuff like that when
- 12:15Speaker 1: I was younger. So I'm like, you know, when I
- 12:17Speaker 1: find a time, you know, if I get enough money,
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm just gonna go back into martial arts. And I
- 12:21Speaker 1: said that when I first started rapping shit, because I
- 12:24Speaker 1: stopped doing it. And then next thing, you know, I
- 12:28Speaker 1: was like, Oh, there's a multi place right down the street.
- 12:31Speaker 1: It was five Star Martial Arts. Go there. I signed up,
- 12:34Speaker 1: got signed me up. I looked at the class and
- 12:37Speaker 1: then I went in the next day, started doing it,
- 12:39Speaker 1: got my girl to do it. And then I just
- 12:42Speaker 1: kept doing it ever since. And it's been five years, right,
- 12:45Speaker 1: it's been five years. I can't train, not because I
- 12:48Speaker 1: got a tour in ACL but like is it like
- 12:51Speaker 1: do you get belts? Like what's your belt level? Well,
- 12:54Speaker 1: in Thailand they don't really have a ranking system. Okay,
- 12:56Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because they've been doing it
- 12:58Speaker 1: since they was kids, pug but that's like cut off
- 13:01Speaker 1: like addresses, that's what they will wear before they go.
- 13:04Speaker 1: It's like it brings us a good luck. But in
- 13:08Speaker 1: like the ranking system at the school they will ranking,
- 13:11Speaker 1: like how they will rank jiu jitsu? You get know
- 13:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You start off white, you know, you
- 13:14Speaker 1: might get a stripe. You might end up at blue.
- 13:17Speaker 1: You might get a stripe, you might end up at purple,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you might get a stripe. You might end up at brown,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and then all the way to black, like brown to black.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You feel me how people rank their schools differently though?
- 13:30Speaker 1: How far would you take them? Thing? Because we know
- 13:32Speaker 1: got like, you know, we got a friend d Smoke
- 13:35Speaker 1: who was like a semi professional boxer before you really
- 13:38Speaker 1: started popping as a rapper, So like would you like,
- 13:40Speaker 1: how far would you take it. I mean I wanted
- 13:42Speaker 1: to compete, to be honest, I wanted to compete to
- 13:45Speaker 1: see what my skill level was at, you know, to
- 13:48Speaker 1: see if I'm pretty, you know, see where I'm at,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and see where I need to improve on, you know
- 13:53Speaker 1: what I mean. But that's how far I was willing
- 13:55Speaker 1: to take it, like to do a couple of matches,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but other than that, it was just I just like
- 14:02Speaker 1: doing it for my sanity to be real. It's like
- 14:04Speaker 1: it's almost like therapy. Have you been to Thailand? Yes?
- 14:09Speaker 1: How was that? Taland's dope? It's like very did you
- 14:12Speaker 1: go out there and like watch Muay Thai like And
- 14:14Speaker 1: it's because you know, you see these like YouTube videos
- 14:16Speaker 1: like the Multai fights and Thailand me like Loupini Stadium
- 14:19Speaker 1: stuff like that. Shit sook crazy though. Yeah, I mean
- 14:23Speaker 1: I haven't been able to do that. But my boy Kashan,
- 14:26Speaker 1: he been trying to get me to go to go
- 14:28Speaker 1: back to Thailand and like go to the gyms, because
- 14:31Speaker 1: you got to know somebody to have that connection to
- 14:33Speaker 1: the gym to get in there. Yeah, I mean it's open,
- 14:35Speaker 1: but you gotta I would much rather know somebody who's
- 14:38Speaker 1: been there before. I know these gyms and you know
- 14:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying and just pull up. Yeah, now that's
- 14:43Speaker 1: dope man. You also obviously are a big UFC fan.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Oh hell yeah, who's your like? If you had to
- 14:49Speaker 1: give me your goat? Like top three fighters ever ever
- 14:53Speaker 1: since since you've been watching, since I've been watching. All right,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I gotta put and the Silva in now. And the
- 15:00Speaker 1: guyho broke his leg right, yeah, he broy he raws. Fuck.
- 15:06Speaker 1: This is gonna be controversial. I'm gonna put John Jones
- 15:08Speaker 1: up there. Shout out to John Jones. He loves cocaine.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Cannot cannot shout out John. This is documented by the
- 15:16Speaker 1: and as of right now recently Style Style Bender. Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 1: those my three. But when it comes down to like overall,
- 15:26Speaker 1: like I have a lot of favorite fighters that are
- 15:28Speaker 1: like in a women's division, it's Valentina Shipchenko, like she'd
- 15:31Speaker 1: be fucking people up. Like there was a match where
- 15:34Speaker 1: she was fucking lady up so bad. I was waiting
- 15:37Speaker 1: for the referee to stop it. The man would not
- 15:39Speaker 1: stop it. It took her to choke the girl out.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Some of those are her to stop for him to
- 15:43Speaker 1: stop the match. I forget which which female fight it
- 15:46Speaker 1: was that I think it was last year, the year
- 15:48Speaker 1: before where the girl's head was lumped. Oh yeah remember that?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I was like, oh wait, wait this happened
- 15:56Speaker 1: last year, right, Yeah, I was actually at that fight.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I know this happened two years ago. Yeah, it was
- 16:01Speaker 1: like it was like a year or two ago. Yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 1: it happened in twenty twenty before the whole pandemic. Yo,
- 16:06Speaker 1: that was while he's saying versus Joe Wan and Joe
- 16:08Speaker 1: Jake check, I remember that fight. I was dead that fight.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I was watching that fight. Her head was I was like,
- 16:13Speaker 1: there is she gonna be all right? Like yo, she
- 16:15Speaker 1: was Okay, that went back to normal. But that was
- 16:18Speaker 1: one of the best fights I've ever seen in the
- 16:20Speaker 1: women's division ever. That shit's crazy. That kind of head
- 16:24Speaker 1: trauma can't be I don't know, man, That's why I
- 16:27Speaker 1: mean I think, like, uh, I feel like fighters peaks
- 16:31Speaker 1: are usually shorter than like any other type of athlete.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You know, you'll you'll, yeah, there's a lot of wear
- 16:37Speaker 1: and tear on your box like a short peak. Like
- 16:39Speaker 1: even if you can think of like Connor McGregor, like
- 16:41Speaker 1: what he probably have like a four year runs like that,
- 16:44Speaker 1: that dude and then they you know, I feel like
- 16:46Speaker 1: he's still the name, he's still the draw, he's still
- 16:48Speaker 1: going to sell pay per views. But like in terms
- 16:50Speaker 1: of like he's you know, he's he's lost or whatever.
- 16:54Speaker 1: He's lost. He's been losing, right, Yeah, but I'm a
- 16:57Speaker 1: fan of his striking. You know, it's kind of hard
- 17:00Speaker 1: when you're a striker, Like wrestlers is like the answer
- 17:03Speaker 1: to that. So if you're a striker, a bad matchup
- 17:06Speaker 1: for you is a wrestler against a wrestler. They'll tire
- 17:09Speaker 1: you out. Is that what happened with the Maga Dude
- 17:11Speaker 1: and Jorge Mazudal. Yeah, you know what's crazy? Yeah? I
- 17:16Speaker 1: think so because he has wrestling on his side, you
- 17:18Speaker 1: know what I mean? And Mazdal is a striker, you
- 17:21Speaker 1: give me, so between that matchup, you know, I would
- 17:25Speaker 1: love to go for Mazadal. I would love for him
- 17:27Speaker 1: to win, but I knew Kobe was gonna win because
- 17:29Speaker 1: he got wrestling, Like wrestlers are strong man, strong people.
- 17:35Speaker 1: On this album, I feel like there's some moments that
- 17:37Speaker 1: are extremely vulnerable, extremely honest. Like I guess for you,
- 17:43Speaker 1: like how much of this album was like you had
- 17:48Speaker 1: to get some shit off your chest. I guess all
- 17:50Speaker 1: of it, yeah, because it felt that way, especially the intro,
- 17:53Speaker 1: like that was just laying my demons out on front street,
- 17:56Speaker 1: like all my flaws out front off the rib. Yeah.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I don't want a sugarcoat shit. I know where I
- 18:02Speaker 1: fuck up at. You feel me, So I wanted to
- 18:04Speaker 1: put that on front streets so people know, like, hey,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I'm human, like I be doing fucked up shit and
- 18:08Speaker 1: I'll be going through fucked up shit. You know that
- 18:11Speaker 1: doesn't mean I can't change. That doesn't mean you can't
- 18:14Speaker 1: change either. If you did something, if you made bad
- 18:17Speaker 1: choices in your day, that doesn't stop you from making
- 18:19Speaker 1: good choices later. You know what I mean. That's real.
- 18:22Speaker 1: And I just wanted to show my self on front
- 18:25Speaker 1: street where I didn't hide behind clever bars or I
- 18:28Speaker 1: didn't hide behind a personality. I just wanted to show you, Denzel. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: one hundred percent. Now that's what it felt like. What
- 18:35Speaker 1: are the things that like? Because you obviously had a
- 18:39Speaker 1: crazy I mean, what's it been about ten years? Ten
- 18:43Speaker 1: year run? Yeah, and you still are here. You're still
- 18:46Speaker 1: very successful, more successful than ever, You're still very relevant.
- 18:51Speaker 1: You're saying you're not, you know you you know some
- 18:53Speaker 1: people ten years in you could tell like this is
- 18:56Speaker 1: an industry been good on you, you you know what I mean.
- 18:59Speaker 1: One of the things that you've obviously you you mentioned
- 19:02Speaker 1: mult typing form of therapy, but is there anything else
- 19:05Speaker 1: that you've kind of been able to adapt to just
- 19:07Speaker 1: kind of help you deal with just the anxiety or
- 19:09Speaker 1: just the pressures of being an artist or just like
- 19:12Speaker 1: when you're feeling down throughout my time through a quarantine
- 19:15Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Actual therapy was helping me, like
- 19:18Speaker 1: talking to a therapist, talking actually to a therapist. Was
- 19:21Speaker 1: it on zoom? It was? Sometimes it was on zoom
- 19:24Speaker 1: and sometimes it was in person, but I would have
- 19:26Speaker 1: to wear a mask and I will have to get
- 19:27Speaker 1: the little click at that. Yeah, like oh you got
- 19:30Speaker 1: a regular temperature. But yeah, it was that. It was
- 19:34Speaker 1: martial arts, and it was just being close with God,
- 19:38Speaker 1: like trying to like find your connection back with God
- 19:40Speaker 1: and writing writing on his album. That helps a lot,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Yeah, Right, it's kind of
- 19:45Speaker 1: like a journal type thing, right, Yeah, it was like
- 19:48Speaker 1: diary entries. Yeah, now that you were saying you do
- 19:52Speaker 1: hot yoga too, we were talking about hot yoga. Man, Hey,
- 19:54Speaker 1: you can't be just putting a ship out on front street.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Was so passionate about yoga. Yes, today I just fuck
- 20:01Speaker 1: with you, but yeah, but hi, yoga is the ship?
- 20:06Speaker 1: How Yah? I want to do I want to try
- 20:07Speaker 1: that and I want to try a sensory deprivation tank.
- 20:10Speaker 1: That's when you sit in like a tank and the
- 20:13Speaker 1: water water. I heard like, if you sit in that ship,
- 20:17Speaker 1: even if you're hallucinating. Yeah, even if you're not on anything,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you could it's like a natural like hallosing it. I
- 20:24Speaker 1: don't know, yeah it is. I mean the rapper you
- 20:27Speaker 1: know who Daylight is? Yeah, of course, yeah. Daylight was
- 20:29Speaker 1: telling me about that ship years ago. It was like
- 20:33Speaker 1: sensory deprivation to Daylight. Shout out the Daylight Light. It's
- 20:36Speaker 1: an amazing MC. Yeah. You know what's crazy. Me and
- 20:38Speaker 1: him are ten years apart, and his birthday is like
- 20:40Speaker 1: a few days before. My nice guy too, super nice guy.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I remember in Phoenix he had a battle at the
- 20:46Speaker 1: Celebrity Theater and he had on stage, which was interesting.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Way you was there for that? I was not there,
- 20:51Speaker 1: but all my friends. I'm from Phoenix, so I had
- 20:53Speaker 1: like seven in my homies, like yo, bro, we're at
- 20:55Speaker 1: this fucking battle and dude started shipping on. I was like,
- 20:58Speaker 1: what the Spawn? You know what's crazy? Nobody knows that's
- 21:04Speaker 1: where his own face tattoo came from. Yes, it's chapel
- 21:08Speaker 1: from Spawn. Yeah, hey, shout out to Spawn. You know
- 21:11Speaker 1: what's crazy. I heard they're remaking. They're gonna do a
- 21:14Speaker 1: new Spawn movie. They should because the first one was good,
- 21:17Speaker 1: but it wasn't like great. Yeah, they're saying they're trying
- 21:19Speaker 1: to get Jamie Foxx for it. I don't know about that.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You don't think so maybe the first one. I was
- 21:30Speaker 1: like as a kid, I was like, yeah, it's far.
- 21:32Speaker 1: As an adult, I'm like, this ain't that far. Just
- 21:35Speaker 1: like that movie right there, Belly, when you When I
- 21:38Speaker 1: was a kid, it was the best movie ever. And
- 21:39Speaker 1: then when I like really started like find out about
- 21:41Speaker 1: like you know what cinema like, I'm like, Okay, visually
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's amazing. Just the story the story of Belly is terrible,
- 21:48Speaker 1: super terrible. But you watch it and it's like there's
- 21:50Speaker 1: moments in the movie that are like iconic and like
- 21:53Speaker 1: that's all that Like as like a ten year old
- 21:55Speaker 1: who's favorite from the actual movie Yeah, like the end
- 22:00Speaker 1: where they come in and the shits in their eyes
- 22:02Speaker 1: and they get the guns from the toilet. But it's
- 22:04Speaker 1: probably the in my opinion, the best worst movie ever
- 22:11Speaker 1: for nostalgia purposes. There are movies that are like that,
- 22:14Speaker 1: like the best worst movie. Oh, there's a lot of
- 22:16Speaker 1: shitty good movies. I guess we'll call them shitty. What's
- 22:21Speaker 1: another one? Damn, what's another one? Every movie Matthew McConaughey
- 22:26Speaker 1: has been in except Dallas Spiders Club. You know, I
- 22:29Speaker 1: never got into Matthew McConaughey movies. Man, shit. I used
- 22:32Speaker 1: to think Dared Deevil like that move is wraw until
- 22:35Speaker 1: I realized, like, I don't like the way that Ben
- 22:37Speaker 1: Affleck acts. He's in a lot of those movies we're
- 22:41Speaker 1: talking about. Yeah, he's in a lot of those except
- 22:43Speaker 1: The Town. The Town was Raw. I give him the
- 22:46Speaker 1: Town shout out to the homie Slain. Yeah, The Town
- 22:49Speaker 1: was Crazy. Jeelie with j Lo they say is like
- 22:52Speaker 1: the worst movie ever. But I as a kid, because
- 22:56Speaker 1: I used to be obsessed with Jlo, I was like,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I don't get it. It's it's not terrible, but Belly
- 23:01Speaker 1: definitely terrible, not as bad as Belly Too. Belly was
- 23:06Speaker 1: starring the Game Terrible. I thought Boozie was in that movie.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I hope he is. I don't remember it was starting
- 23:13Speaker 1: a game. Oh my god. If Boozy was in there
- 23:16Speaker 1: and didn't make the fucking VHS cover because I had it.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I've never seen Belly Too, so I can't even tell you. Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 1: that's not it. I wonder if they just it was
- 23:26Speaker 1: like simon a shot out on their iPhone or I
- 23:28Speaker 1: don't know. This was like twelve years ago. Shout out
- 23:30Speaker 1: to BELLI. Yeah, movies would rap present them. You know
- 23:33Speaker 1: what movie I like that guy. I like Get Richard,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I Tria solid movie. That's a solid movie. I like
- 23:41Speaker 1: South Paul, South Paul. Those are fifty cent movies, right, yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 1: I mean eight Mile was good, but then great we
- 23:48Speaker 1: just went through. We just talked about this the other day.
- 23:50Speaker 1: There were so many random Like when I was growing up,
- 23:53Speaker 1: they used to just put shit out and and like
- 23:56Speaker 1: there was a movie called Ticker and it was Nas
- 23:59Speaker 1: and Steven Sigall and this other dude. But they had
- 24:03Speaker 1: Nas front and center on the cover, like he had
- 24:05Speaker 1: a real part in the movie. It was like starring
- 24:07Speaker 1: and it said Nas right in the middle, and I
- 24:08Speaker 1: was like, Na's my favorite rapper, right, so I buy
- 24:10Speaker 1: the fucking dvd. El Mads my ship. He's in the
- 24:13Speaker 1: movie for thirty seconds. Dead ass, dead ass. But Steven Saga.
- 24:18Speaker 1: It's Steven Sagall, Nas and some other guy. But it
- 24:21Speaker 1: was like the cover of the movie, it's just Nas.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Steven Saga is on the left and this other white
- 24:25Speaker 1: dud's on the right. So you're thinking, oh, shit, Nas
- 24:28Speaker 1: is in this motherfucker lest go Hey, Romeo Must Die
- 24:31Speaker 1: was hard. DMX Exit Wounds was fire too. Oh that
- 24:34Speaker 1: shit was hard. Cradle to the Grave was hard. The
- 24:36Speaker 1: Grave was fire. Then there's like random ones like, uh,
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know, yeah, there's a lot shout out to uh
- 24:43Speaker 1: Killer Season Cameron. Yeah, Killer Season was funny. That master
- 24:47Speaker 1: P shit, I got the hook in my back, b
- 24:49Speaker 1: I got the hookup. Master P was solid. Master P
- 24:52Speaker 1: had I had a little wave with the movies for me.
- 24:55Speaker 1: You make that movie Hot Boys with Silt the Shaka, Yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 1: that shit, Soak the Shocker, best worst rapper ever. It
- 25:04Speaker 1: ain't my fault as my shit, best worst rapper ever,
- 25:07Speaker 1: it ain't my fault. It's pretty hard. Quite possibly the
- 25:09Speaker 1: Belly of Rappers Soak the Shocker. I ain't gonna sit
- 25:13Speaker 1: here and don't and I want to interview him because
- 25:16Speaker 1: I really would like to just talk to him and
- 25:18Speaker 1: be like, dude, there was like ninety days when I
- 25:20Speaker 1: was eleven, I thought you're the greatest rapper alive because
- 25:22Speaker 1: I had a no limit chain and I had one
- 25:25Speaker 1: of those from the middle of the mall. I had
- 25:27Speaker 1: a no limit chain and a Wu Tang chain, had
- 25:30Speaker 1: a Wu Tang chin. Yeah, they were like twelve dollars
- 25:33Speaker 1: turned green. Have you seen the new Batman movie? Nah?
- 25:36Speaker 1: Not yet. Don't spoil it. Okay, okay, it's really good,
- 25:39Speaker 1: but don't spoil it. I won't you seen Doom? No, no,
- 25:43Speaker 1: it's everyone. Everyone who's seen it that I know says
- 25:48Speaker 1: it's very Uh it's just like one of those movies
- 25:51Speaker 1: where you're like forty five minutes in and you're like,
- 25:53Speaker 1: what the fuck is even going on right now? It's
- 25:55Speaker 1: not like that, though I haven't watched it. Don't knock
- 25:58Speaker 1: until you tried it. Did you play the game Dune? Yeah? No,
- 26:02Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. Dune was a game.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It was it was a game. You're saying Doom, Dune,
- 26:10Speaker 1: do any doom? Doom was a game. Doom was a game,
- 26:14Speaker 1: so it was done. Doune was a book. It was
- 26:16Speaker 1: a game on PC? Was it? Yes? Google that ship.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Maybe I'm tripping Dune the game. It was like a
- 26:23Speaker 1: PC game. Eat yourselb was in it? Right? What? Wait?
- 26:28Speaker 1: And what in Doom? Isn't he in Dune? Hell no?
- 26:30Speaker 1: Then I know it's a book. It's on HBO max
- 26:34Speaker 1: right now. It was on HBO Max. Isn't it a game?
- 26:39Speaker 1: It is? They have a bunch of games. It's a
- 26:43Speaker 1: PC game from the nineties. Yeah, that's crazy. Now, from
- 26:47Speaker 1: the nineties. The only games I played on PC was
- 26:50Speaker 1: like Half Life. Only games I played on PC was
- 26:54Speaker 1: fucking Oregon Trail. I don't even know what that is. Ship.
- 26:57Speaker 1: We used to get that free day at school. They
- 26:59Speaker 1: put you on that with that floppy disc. You play
- 27:01Speaker 1: that Oregon Trail, you go hunting, kill you a buffalo,
- 27:05Speaker 1: feed your family until your daughter gets a snake bite
- 27:08Speaker 1: and then she dies. Oh shit, the goal is to
- 27:10Speaker 1: get to Oregon. You never played orgon trail? Oh man.
- 27:15Speaker 1: When I was coming up, motherfuckers was playing Room Escaping. Shit.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I never played that shit. Yeah, I just I didn't
- 27:22Speaker 1: have a computer towels like fifteen. So yeah, I never
- 27:26Speaker 1: got into the online gaming. Did you play? Do you
- 27:28Speaker 1: do game now? Like on the PC or on the
- 27:31Speaker 1: NAH play on the PlayStation? You play the PlayStation? Yeah?
- 27:34Speaker 1: What is your go to? Ghosta Tsushima? Yo? So I
- 27:40Speaker 1: don't have time for anything in life. So I have
- 27:42Speaker 1: this thing where I buy games and I just don't play.
- 27:46Speaker 1: So I have like every I mean, my son plays them.
- 27:48Speaker 1: So shout to my son aiden. I mean, I see
- 27:50Speaker 1: you play the Mortal Kombat because you got in your here. Yeah,
- 27:53Speaker 1: I mean it's but that's legendary though, Like who doesn't
- 27:55Speaker 1: play Mortal Kombat? Right? But that game I bought it
- 27:58Speaker 1: and it's the one game I haven't That game and
- 28:00Speaker 1: the Spider Man game I haven't touched yet. The Spider
- 28:04Speaker 1: Man game is pretty five, I know. So those are
- 28:06Speaker 1: like the two games like whenever I have time to breathe,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I want to try to play. My son says that that,
- 28:11Speaker 1: but you never played a New More to Combat. H
- 28:13Speaker 1: I played with my kid. That's easy though, that's easy
- 28:15Speaker 1: to hop in do some matches and you know, yeah,
- 28:17Speaker 1: the other ship you gotta really be that the ghost
- 28:19Speaker 1: of what is it, ghost of Sushimo? That ship you
- 28:21Speaker 1: gotta be committed to. That ship is hard Bro, because
- 28:24Speaker 1: this is a whole story. My sens it might be
- 28:26Speaker 1: the best game ever. Is one of the best games.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I ain't gonna say it's the best game. He's like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: it's up there. You know. For me, it's because you
- 28:32Speaker 1: got that New Guy Award that came out first the
- 28:34Speaker 1: first Meddle. Gear Solid is my favorite game ever. I
- 28:36Speaker 1: never played Metal Solid, never played it. I know who
- 28:39Speaker 1: Snake is and everything, but I never played Metal First
- 28:42Speaker 1: one Bro. Super Smash Brothers is my ship. Super Smash Bros.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Is amazing. Yeah. I think there's a new game, is
- 28:51Speaker 1: it elder Ring? I heard? I heard about that. It's
- 28:55Speaker 1: supposed to be coming out, right, Eldon elden Ring? Or No,
- 28:57Speaker 1: it's out someone we just knew who saying that they're
- 29:00Speaker 1: playing it. Oh, Big Crit last night was telling us,
- 29:03Speaker 1: he's like, I'm addicted to this show. That's another person
- 29:05Speaker 1: who don't get the credit they deserve. I told him
- 29:07Speaker 1: that yesterday. I said, Hey, Krit, for what it's worth,
- 29:09Speaker 1: you're one of the greatest rappers of all time. Did
- 29:11Speaker 1: you not hear? Krit was here well, Returning Forever we
- 29:14Speaker 1: have Qrit was here on Vinyl. I was in high
- 29:15Speaker 1: school bumping that shit. Of course, no trust me. I
- 29:18Speaker 1: started liking Big crit you know. I ain't gonna say
- 29:21Speaker 1: I listened to him, nah, But when I was listening
- 29:23Speaker 1: to him like Glasshouse on Wizard's Project on Cushion Orange Juice,
- 29:28Speaker 1: shit was hard. And then he came out with that
- 29:31Speaker 1: Krit was here, and he came out with the Returner Forever.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Returner Forever was my That's my favorite one. That was
- 29:38Speaker 1: one of the best albums of that year whatever that
- 29:41Speaker 1: it was, twenty ten, It's probably one of my favorite
- 29:44Speaker 1: albums of the twenty tens. Shout out to Krit. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 1: we had a dope interview yesterday. Yo. We got to
- 29:49Speaker 1: take a break in the interview real quick. Tell you
- 29:51Speaker 1: about our folks at my bookie. Man, this is my
- 29:53Speaker 1: favorite time of the year to gamble. I love gambling

- 30:42Speaker 1: Go to my bookie right now, man, get in on
- 30:44Speaker 1: some of this March madness, some of this NBA action.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I wonder what the odds were on Tom Brady coming
- 30:48Speaker 1: back from retirement. Shesh my bookie dot ag use that
- 30:53Speaker 1: promo code bootleg bot l e G. One word when
- 30:58Speaker 1: you sign up, and your first positive will be matched
- 31:01Speaker 1: up two thousand dollars in free money. Let's get back
- 31:03Speaker 1: to the interview. Yo. It's crazy because you're like you
- 31:05Speaker 1: were kind of class of hip hop. You were like
- 31:08Speaker 1: right before a lot of you know, you were on
- 31:14Speaker 1: the same shows with a lot of these kids. I
- 31:16Speaker 1: think the first big show I might have saw you
- 31:19Speaker 1: on was the first or second Rolling Loud? Was it
- 31:26Speaker 1: the second Rolling Loud? There was like a second, Yeah,
- 31:29Speaker 1: it was the second Rolling Loud I DJed. It was
- 31:31Speaker 1: the one that was in Winwood. Mmm. And that was
- 31:34Speaker 1: the first one. No, that was the second one. That
- 31:36Speaker 1: was the first one, No, because I didn't It was
- 31:38Speaker 1: two of them. Well, the first one had Schoolboy Q headlining,
- 31:40Speaker 1: uh and Travis. Yeah, I didn't go to that one.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I was. That was the one that rained. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:45Speaker 1: my cousin was working a dope. The second one I
- 31:48Speaker 1: DJ'ed at, And that was the one. It was a
- 31:50Speaker 1: little Way in the Future headlining, and it was in Windwood.
- 31:53Speaker 1: That was in twenty sixteen or fifteen, only sixteen sixteen.
- 31:58Speaker 1: It was twenty sixteen, twenty sixteen, Yeah, twenty fifteen. But
- 32:01Speaker 1: you were, you were on the other stage. But it
- 32:04Speaker 1: was crazy because it was like twenty one. Savage was
- 32:06Speaker 1: super young, and I remember he was. I think he
- 32:08Speaker 1: went on before you. But just in terms of like
- 32:10Speaker 1: the class of like hip hop, you are, like I
- 32:13Speaker 1: feel like you were kind of like right before when
- 32:17Speaker 1: things get started to get really, in my opinion, not
- 32:22Speaker 1: to my liking. I suppose I look at like twenty
- 32:25Speaker 1: seventeen twenty eighteen, like rap is like the Dark Ages.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I can't I can't even call it the Dark Ages
- 32:32Speaker 1: because you got some gems and you no, no, there's gems.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I'm not saying everything, but in terms of like just
- 32:36Speaker 1: some of the stuff labels were signing. Oh, you know,
- 32:40Speaker 1: like we would have like guys like kid Boo coming
- 32:44Speaker 1: to get to the station, and this guy was like
- 32:46Speaker 1: the whole reason he got signed is because he went
- 32:48Speaker 1: viral for saying he was like a clone or like
- 32:51Speaker 1: there was Instagram kids getting like support. Supreme Patty got
- 32:55Speaker 1: offered a deal from three hundred. I don't think it
- 32:58Speaker 1: takes that much to get nowadays, because you just got
- 33:01Speaker 1: to have an image and shit and you can make
- 33:03Speaker 1: a cool song or whatever. But my thing is is,
- 33:05Speaker 1: like I feel like twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen it was
- 33:09Speaker 1: rough because I would just be like, what the fuck
- 33:14Speaker 1: are these labels seeing in some of these like it
- 33:16Speaker 1: was just the Cloud era, Yeah that's what he era,
- 33:20Speaker 1: peak Cloud era. Man, it was the Cloud era, And
- 33:24Speaker 1: I'm so glad that it like kind of has faded
- 33:27Speaker 1: away a bit. It was the way it faded out
- 33:30Speaker 1: was pretty horrible. What do you mean, like people dying
- 33:33Speaker 1: from overdose? Oh yeah, yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I think the cloud era usher back in the gangster
- 33:40Speaker 1: rap era, because right now, like I feel like this
- 33:43Speaker 1: is a gangster rap era. It's like happening all over again.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I think about EStG and Yo and like, I mean
- 33:49Speaker 1: a lot of those guys, they're the biggest dudes, are
- 33:51Speaker 1: getting biggest bags. Dirk, you know, we can go. But yeah,
- 33:55Speaker 1: it's crazy because you're like, you probably knew a lot
- 33:59Speaker 1: of these dudes, and I you know, just in terms
- 34:02Speaker 1: of like the drug shit and hip hop. Man, it
- 34:07Speaker 1: was it was just it's just crazy to think of
- 34:09Speaker 1: all the talent that we lost over the last I
- 34:11Speaker 1: mean a lot of these guys that you know that
- 34:14Speaker 1: we lost in hip hop were guys that I met
- 34:16Speaker 1: back in the day. I mean, X, if you know
- 34:19Speaker 1: our history, X used to live with me. There's one
- 34:22Speaker 1: you know we lost. What year was that that was?
- 34:25Speaker 1: X lived with me in twenty sixteen and then he
- 34:27Speaker 1: started to living with Bruno in like twenty seventeen around
- 34:30Speaker 1: that time, and then he blew up. Well, actually it
- 34:33Speaker 1: was later that year. It was like twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen. Yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 1: So for people who don't know, because I'm not totally
- 34:39Speaker 1: hip to I knew you guys were cool, but like,
- 34:41Speaker 1: give me the history of you and X, because at
- 34:43Speaker 1: that time, I'm sure, I mean, I would get into it. Yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but you know, I've talked to everybody about like, you know,
- 34:50Speaker 1: Ex's legacy, and I'm just trying to build my own shit.
- 34:52Speaker 1: You know, I respect that. I respect that. I know
- 34:54Speaker 1: everybody know tons of information about X already. That's fair.
- 34:58Speaker 1: That's fair. Feel what I'm saying, like actually recycled stories
- 35:01Speaker 1: about X nowadays because they want to know more about him.
- 35:04Speaker 1: But my time with him is what I told other
- 35:07Speaker 1: interviewers and ship. So what about the biggest misconception about him?
- 35:11Speaker 1: You live with somebody, you really get to know him,
- 35:12Speaker 1: you know, I mean shit, like what you see is
- 35:19Speaker 1: what you get. That's whatever you saw is what you got,
- 35:23Speaker 1: That's how he was. How do you feel about where
- 35:27Speaker 1: Florida is right now in the game, because now I
- 35:29Speaker 1: feel like it's not only I mean, before it was
- 35:31Speaker 1: like Miami Dade County, you know, Uh, it was really
- 35:36Speaker 1: a Southern Florida, South Florida vibe that was holding down
- 35:40Speaker 1: the state. But now the whole state is lit. Yeah,
- 35:43Speaker 1: the whole state is. Lando's popping, JAP, Tampa's on the
- 35:47Speaker 1: way up. You know. There's some artists in Tampa that
- 35:49Speaker 1: are dope. But yeah, like you ever heard of I
- 35:50Speaker 1: am Doci? I heard of him? Yeah, I am dot.
- 35:53Speaker 1: She is girl, but like, wait, I am do she's
- 35:56Speaker 1: a girl. She I think she's on TD now right now.
- 35:59Speaker 1: That's the they just signed. Yeah, they just signed her
- 36:02Speaker 1: like a week ago, right, I don't think it was
- 36:04Speaker 1: a week ago, but but they just announced it. They
- 36:06Speaker 1: signed her, Oh they did. Yeah, I think they just
- 36:08Speaker 1: announced it. But yeah, she straight out of Tampa too.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying. I remember when I
- 36:13Speaker 1: first met her and she was like, I came to
- 36:15Speaker 1: your show back in like two thousand and something. I
- 36:17Speaker 1: was like, what was the keyboard City shows were crazy? Yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 1: So I was just thinking to myself, like damn. But
- 36:23Speaker 1: the fact that Florida's on the rise right now, like
- 36:25Speaker 1: I just embraced it all. You get what I'm saying,
- 36:28Speaker 1: It's not just South Florida doing something. You feel me
- 36:30Speaker 1: like just opening that door for Florida, regardless of how
- 36:33Speaker 1: it sounds like. It could be ratchet, it could be
- 36:35Speaker 1: beef and whatever it is, right, you know what I'm saying.
- 36:38Speaker 1: You know you got Glock nine, you got hot Boy,
- 36:40Speaker 1: you got spot and got him, you got Young and Knae,
- 36:42Speaker 1: Julio the shop Spinner bends. Uh. You know what I'm saying.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I am Doci Caliban Duda from Tampa's Dope. Yeah, you
- 36:52Speaker 1: got all these people that's going on. You know what
- 36:55Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's crazy as fun when you realize a
- 36:57Speaker 1: lot of these guys the Wave Rod Wave is tight
- 37:00Speaker 1: to Saint Pete. It's crazy because he's such a star.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I just be forgetting he's from saintetecause I lived in
- 37:06Speaker 1: Saint Pete for three It's is crazy. I got family
- 37:09Speaker 1: in Saint Pete. Shout out to Saint Pete. Man, it's
- 37:12Speaker 1: a vibe until it's not. I think Florida is a
- 37:16Speaker 1: vibe into it. That's the thing. Is like when you're
- 37:19Speaker 1: from Miami, like we don't associate with the rest of Florida.
- 37:23Speaker 1: It's so funny. That's real. I mean the Miami. I mean,
- 37:26Speaker 1: I feel like Miami is such a melting pot. It's
- 37:29Speaker 1: really like only a few other places that remind me
- 37:32Speaker 1: of like just the like New York is like that.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Like depending on where you are in New York, you're like, Oh,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I'm Miami is so little Haiti, there's the Cuban there.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I mean, it's just it's just such a It's such
- 37:47Speaker 1: a dope. There's so much culture in Miami. It's like,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you know, a lot of people wouldn't even expect that
- 37:51Speaker 1: because they just think of the beach and they think
- 37:53Speaker 1: of like Vice South Beach. You know, Miami is a
- 37:56Speaker 1: wholes It's like a cultural hub for a lot of
- 37:59Speaker 1: a lot of people. Like I love my It's my
- 38:01Speaker 1: favorite city in the United States besides my hometown. Yeah.
- 38:04Speaker 1: And oh, I can't forget play that Boy's Day. That's
- 38:07Speaker 1: my boy. He coming out the city. He raw too. Yo.
- 38:11Speaker 1: It was dope when you and Ross ended up finally
- 38:14Speaker 1: working together, because it was dope to see Ross embrace
- 38:20Speaker 1: the newer generation of what's going on in Miami. How
- 38:22Speaker 1: important was that for you? Just like I mean, I
- 38:25Speaker 1: just felt like it was a passing of the torch
- 38:26Speaker 1: and ship, you know what I'm saying with Ross, But
- 38:28Speaker 1: Ross still got stuff in the chamber that like, he's
- 38:30Speaker 1: still doing stuff, you know what I mean? And you know,
- 38:33Speaker 1: I've been listening to Ras since he was what po boy,
- 38:37Speaker 1: you know, like when flow Rider, Bristo and Ross was
- 38:40Speaker 1: all rolling together and ship. But me and my brothers like,
- 38:44Speaker 1: we like, we love Ross even we listened to Ross
- 38:47Speaker 1: like Teflon Dawn Deep in the Wrap, Miami. You we
- 38:50Speaker 1: are knew Ross. We knew Ross was raw and a
- 38:54Speaker 1: City Cars album was hard and he was putting on
- 38:56Speaker 1: for the city. Shout out to Breed, like I fuck
- 38:58Speaker 1: with Breed gun Play because Breed mess with my boy
- 39:02Speaker 1: Soldier Living True. That's my nigga Poochie and we pretty
- 39:06Speaker 1: much like connected through Poocci because we both fuck with
- 39:09Speaker 1: Poochi heavy Gucci Poochi. Is this the same Pooci that
- 39:12Speaker 1: you used to manage Ross or is this a different
- 39:13Speaker 1: poo It's different pooch. Okay, Okay, different poocies in Miami. Yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 1: but you gotta call him Soldier Living True. So okay, Okay,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I don't want to mess that up. Don't don't don't
- 39:21Speaker 1: fuck that up. Shout to Gunplay, though, Gunplay is that motherfucker.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Gunplay is a rappers rapper, A rappers rapper, rappers rapper.
- 39:30Speaker 1: You remember that song power Circle? Nah? But I was
- 39:33Speaker 1: heard take this of course, take this to your brain
- 39:37Speaker 1: ship where he's got the white girl and he's like,
- 39:41Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, I show that video to people all
- 39:43Speaker 1: the time. I'm like, y'all want to see the craziest
- 39:44Speaker 1: flagrant ass music video. I'm gonna say this gunplay. He's
- 39:47Speaker 1: talking about being high on coke, he's paranoid his fuck
- 39:50Speaker 1: In the video, he's got the white chick and he's
- 39:53Speaker 1: like taking money out of her spand that that ship
- 39:56Speaker 1: was so crazy. He was like, bitch, we living in hell?
- 39:58Speaker 1: How to fuck you? To Reverend, I was like, damn
- 40:01Speaker 1: this raw like gunplay, like listening to that, listening to
- 40:05Speaker 1: all on you, rolling with Walker Floka single handedly him
- 40:08Speaker 1: and walka Flocka is the reason why I wanted to
- 40:10Speaker 1: grow Dredds in the first place. That's crazy, you know
- 40:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying. The cartoons in Cereal with gun playing
- 40:14Speaker 1: Hendrick just talk about this shit this morning killed that shit.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I'm so mad that that's not on DSPs man. That
- 40:21Speaker 1: ship was so raw, yo, gunplay, Yo, salut, gunplay Man.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I know he shocked. I know he'd done Yachta Driz,
- 40:28Speaker 1: but like he had a Yeah, there was a record
- 40:30Speaker 1: on self Made two called Power Soco was the intro
- 40:33Speaker 1: and it was Gunplay Ross Stally, Walle, Kendrick and Meek
- 40:39Speaker 1: and it was just like he kicked it off and
- 40:41Speaker 1: it was like it's probably my favorite, uh my favorite
- 40:44Speaker 1: gun play gun Blaby snapping. Yeah, it's I would like
- 40:48Speaker 1: to see gunplay like do movies or like, I don't know,
- 40:52Speaker 1: host a podcast or you know, maybe do like the
- 40:56Speaker 1: sidewalk talk shit that they're doing in New York with Nams,
- 40:58Speaker 1: the Bing Bong guy, but like have him in Miami,
- 41:01Speaker 1: like just because he's so he's such a character, like
- 41:04Speaker 1: he's and he's like a good ass, I mean, very animate.
- 41:07Speaker 1: He's always been super cool like when I met him.
- 41:08Speaker 1: So shout out to gunplay. Me the same every time
- 41:10Speaker 1: I see gun players love you know. So everybody should
- 41:14Speaker 1: go watch to take this video right now on YouTube.
- 41:16Speaker 1: And the one thing, the one thing about Gunplay is
- 41:19Speaker 1: people don't even know like out of Miami rappers, that's
- 41:22Speaker 1: my favorite Miami rapper. That's crazy. Gunplay is my favorite
- 41:25Speaker 1: Miami rapper. I like him more than I like Rosso,
- 41:28Speaker 1: and Ross is talented as fuck. You know what I'm saying,
- 41:32Speaker 1: best year for beats ever. Maybe it's up there. It
- 41:37Speaker 1: is up there. But Gunplay is like Rawness, Like that's
- 41:41Speaker 1: Miami rappers. There's yourself, there's Ross, there's Gunplay obviously, trick Daddy,
- 41:47Speaker 1: City Girls, shout out to the City girls, Uh kidd o,
- 41:52Speaker 1: Marv Major nine, who else? There's a lot. There's a
- 41:57Speaker 1: lot coming out of the city on Bruno, Maley h
- 42:01Speaker 1: Hood Ace Hood Acehood from Broward Is he from? Yeah?
- 42:05Speaker 1: From brow Okay, brow County is totally separate, Yeah, because
- 42:08Speaker 1: that's where Fort Lardale is, right, Yeah, yeah, Okay. I
- 42:13Speaker 1: gotta still give it to Ross. And I think I
- 42:17Speaker 1: think Ross is like the tenth best rapper of all time.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I made a list and I had Ross at number ten,
- 42:21Speaker 1: And I know that's high for a lot of people,
- 42:23Speaker 1: that's high. But if you listen to teflon Dawn and
- 42:27Speaker 1: Oh Deep In to Rap, you can't tell me those
- 42:30Speaker 1: aren't certified classics. Those are classic ass albums. I agree,
- 42:34Speaker 1: And I mean just the consistency, bro like he's still
- 42:40Speaker 1: going the flow is butter. What he brought to the
- 42:43Speaker 1: game is. I mean, he's in my I always say
- 42:48Speaker 1: like ten, he's he's top ten, and I put him
- 42:52Speaker 1: at ten. I like Ross because he brought something different
- 42:54Speaker 1: to Miami, you know what I'm saying. Definitely, he really
- 42:57Speaker 1: brought something different really prior to that, Like if you
- 42:59Speaker 1: think it Daddy Trina, the Slipping Slide era flow Rider,
- 43:02Speaker 1: that shit was just not like, like I feel like
- 43:05Speaker 1: Ross embodied like what we thought of Miami when we
- 43:08Speaker 1: saw Scarface, but like an updated version of like some
- 43:11Speaker 1: boss like Kingpin. Like it just was like it just
- 43:14Speaker 1: to me, it properly displayed that side of the aesthetic
- 43:18Speaker 1: of Miami as to where like Trina and Trick, where
- 43:21Speaker 1: there was a whole other aesthetic of Miami that's like
- 43:23Speaker 1: super turned up And what's your favorite Miami strip club?
- 43:26Speaker 1: I don't go to strip clubs ever? Like never, Wow, nigga,
- 43:30Speaker 1: I went on, let me tell you your wife tep right. Yeah, okay, okay,
- 43:34Speaker 1: shout to wifey, shout out to wifey. Yeah, but nigga,
- 43:37Speaker 1: I do not go to strip clubs. Did you have
- 43:39Speaker 1: a bad experience? Well? No, I just don't go, not
- 43:42Speaker 1: even for the food. Why would I go? G five
- 43:45Speaker 1: has great wings. So those tutsis but Toutsie's got the
- 43:49Speaker 1: fried lobster tail with seafood rice. Like I don't want
- 43:51Speaker 1: to go in there, and then I'll just be like,
- 43:54Speaker 1: oh shit, I went to school with this bitch, Like
- 43:56Speaker 1: I don't you know what I'm saying, but the food
- 43:58Speaker 1: is good. At last time I went in the strip club.
- 44:01Speaker 1: My cousin, y'all, y'all took me to the strip club.
- 44:04Speaker 1: And she thought you were gonna say her cousin was dancing. No,
- 44:06Speaker 1: she was, hell, no, no, that would have been sucked
- 44:09Speaker 1: up because you go in there not knowing and she
- 44:10Speaker 1: don't know you're coming in. And that's happened to my
- 44:13Speaker 1: boy went to a strip club and saw his sister.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Where the fucking guy. This happened like ten years ago.
- 44:18Speaker 1: That's crazy, can't can't be meto. But like I went
- 44:22Speaker 1: to the strip club with my cousin just you know,
- 44:25Speaker 1: because she was linking over with her family friend over there.
- 44:27Speaker 1: So we I was like, you know, I almost slide
- 44:29Speaker 1: with you, you know what I mean, right, I just
- 44:31Speaker 1: went in there she you know, chopped it up with
- 44:34Speaker 1: a family friend and then dipped out ran in the
- 44:36Speaker 1: ball greasy ball Greasy told the DJ I was there.
- 44:39Speaker 1: The DJ was like, we got this up, Curry in
- 44:41Speaker 1: the building. I was just like, nah, nigga, I'm going home.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Like he was on the Little Duvault record, right, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I thought that was dope to see him kind of
- 44:48Speaker 1: like because I'm like, man, ball Greasey ben't doing this
- 44:51Speaker 1: thing for a long time and that record was like
- 44:53Speaker 1: top five of radio. So it was dope to like
- 44:55Speaker 1: best life. Yeah, shout out to do shout out to
- 44:57Speaker 1: Little Duvall Man, Hey, you had you got. So let's
- 45:00Speaker 1: talk about this album. When does the album actually come out?
- 45:03Speaker 1: Because March twenty fifth, Okay, so we got a few weeks.
- 45:06Speaker 1: But so we'll hold on to this until closer to
- 45:09Speaker 1: the album. But uh, you got some dope features on
- 45:13Speaker 1: this project. But the te Pain feature just was super
- 45:17Speaker 1: unexpected because I'm listening to the album and the version
- 45:20Speaker 1: of the early that I have doesn't have the features
- 45:22Speaker 1: on it. I'm just pressing play and I'm like, Yo,
- 45:25Speaker 1: this shit is hard, and then shit tea Pain. Yeah
- 45:29Speaker 1: Pain was that an easy ad? Like pain is the
- 45:31Speaker 1: coolest mother. I'm real tight with pain. I've been like
- 45:33Speaker 1: pain is my guys. So people like he's the most humble.
- 45:37Speaker 1: If he fucks with you, he fucks. He's the chillest
- 45:39Speaker 1: dude I've met for sure, so far is out of
- 45:42Speaker 1: him and thunder Cat and Flat Level. Yeah you know
- 45:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So what was the t pain like,
- 45:47Speaker 1: like like when you cut that record, did you specifically
- 45:50Speaker 1: say like I need tea pain? No, this will happen
- 45:53Speaker 1: when I cut the record. I went to the cave
- 45:55Speaker 1: to work with Kenny Beats. Okay, you know what Kenny Beats, right,
- 45:57Speaker 1: So I worked with Kenny Beats at his studio. You
- 46:00Speaker 1: guys have a joint project. Yeah, unlocked, like when we together,
- 46:05Speaker 1: the duo is unlocked. Okay, He's incredible. I've been trying
- 46:08Speaker 1: to get him on the show. He like went on
- 46:10Speaker 1: his Twitch and like I played a part of my
- 46:13Speaker 1: interview talking about how dope is. It was like we
- 46:15Speaker 1: made it and I was like, damn it. I'm like,
- 46:17Speaker 1: all right, well come on the show, then connect to
- 46:20Speaker 1: I'll talk to Kenny Man now he's an legend. But continue.
- 46:23Speaker 1: But yeah, So I was at Kenny Beat studio. This
- 46:25Speaker 1: was like early twenty twenty. This is where I just
- 46:28Speaker 1: went there and we wanted to work on some tracks,
- 46:30Speaker 1: like you know, and he was playing beats and everything.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Then he played he was like, he played something. He
- 46:40Speaker 1: played on the sample of troubles, and then I just
- 46:44Speaker 1: started writing to it as he was making a beat,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and I only wrote the hook. So I was like,
- 46:49Speaker 1: guys in trouble with these drugs, we might struggle because
- 46:53Speaker 1: life's bitch. They heavy when your ass get rich blowing
- 46:57Speaker 1: money because up bad ain't ship. So he and he
- 47:00Speaker 1: was like, yo, just go in the studio, bro, just
- 47:02Speaker 1: go in. So I'm like, all right, I go in
- 47:04Speaker 1: the studio. I lay it down. I laid down the verse.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I laid out two verses and basically, you know, it
- 47:12Speaker 1: was just like this is dope. I sent to my management.
- 47:14Speaker 1: It was like, oh this shit five, this, that and
- 47:15Speaker 1: the third like we like this, this is gonna be
- 47:17Speaker 1: the hit. I know this is gonna be the hit.
- 47:20Speaker 1: And then I'm just like, yeah, whatever, nigga. So I
- 47:24Speaker 1: remember I was reaching out to people at this point
- 47:26Speaker 1: because like I wasn't working as much with F and
- 47:29Speaker 1: Z anymore, and I was just reaching out to people
- 47:32Speaker 1: seeing who was gonna hit me back. And I was
- 47:34Speaker 1: reaching out specifically to producers, not even to an artists,
- 47:38Speaker 1: and Ta Paint was just one of those artists I
- 47:40Speaker 1: wanted to reach out to because I just wanted his
- 47:42Speaker 1: insight with you know, yeah, with just music and me
- 47:48Speaker 1: and Ta Pain's relationship it started at Bonnorou Festival in
- 47:51Speaker 1: twenty eighteen, like he liked my cipher. Of course, I
- 47:54Speaker 1: grew up on his music. I grew up on rapper
- 47:56Speaker 1: turn Sanger and then you know, him and Adam de
- 47:59Speaker 1: Vemp from Work of Holics was cracking jokes backstage, back
- 48:02Speaker 1: and forth. I love that show. Yo. It was like
- 48:04Speaker 1: it was like deaf comedy jam or some shit. If
- 48:06Speaker 1: you ever seen them too interact, it was funny as fuck.
- 48:08Speaker 1: That sounds amazing. I do my set, he do his set.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Were still cracking jokes with each other. We exchanged numbers
- 48:14Speaker 1: this and the third. That's how a relationship started. And
- 48:16Speaker 1: then you know, I reached out to him and I
- 48:18Speaker 1: was like, hey, I'm about to call you because you know,
- 48:20Speaker 1: I changed my number. I don't know if he changed
- 48:21Speaker 1: his number. Reached out to him and I was talking
- 48:25Speaker 1: to him, just bigging them up and just letting him know, like, yo,
- 48:28Speaker 1: you're a legend. I know you don't get appreciated as
- 48:30Speaker 1: much because like all the things that happened in the industry.
- 48:33Speaker 1: But brouh, I'm letting you know that I appreciate you
- 48:35Speaker 1: and what you've done for me just growing up, you
- 48:38Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like all the shit you did
- 48:40Speaker 1: with DJ Khaled, of course you did with Rick Ross,
- 48:42Speaker 1: all the shit you did with Plis, all the shit
- 48:44Speaker 1: you did with Lil Wayne, and even all the shit
- 48:46Speaker 1: you've done yourself, even freaknat like if you just t
- 48:49Speaker 1: paying one two punch yeah on those Calid records. Yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 1: even the stuff you did with Kanye West. Yeah, come on, man,
- 48:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So here Will really appreciated that.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And I wanted his feedback on two tracks that I
- 49:00Speaker 1: have on the album. So one of them was Worst
- 49:03Speaker 1: Come to Worst, and I sent Troubles. They were two opposites,
- 49:06Speaker 1: and those were like the leading singles for me before
- 49:09Speaker 1: I made any of the other records. Sent it to him,
- 49:12Speaker 1: and he gets back to me. He said he loved Troubles,
- 49:15Speaker 1: and he was like, Wor's come the Worst is fire too.
- 49:17Speaker 1: If I was you, I'll put both of them bitches
- 49:19Speaker 1: out at the same time on different blog sites. And
- 49:22Speaker 1: I was like that's it ain't gonna work, you know
- 49:24Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Also blogs like whatever years, you know
- 49:28Speaker 1: what I mean. So he really loved the Troubles record.
- 49:32Speaker 1: He really liked that record. So my manager Mark a
- 49:35Speaker 1: year later, he was like, Hey, we think about sending
- 49:38Speaker 1: that record in t Pain to see what he's gonna
- 49:40Speaker 1: do with it. So I'm like, all right, whatever, you know,
- 49:43Speaker 1: you send it to most people. Most people don't get
- 49:44Speaker 1: back to me because it's me, you know what I'm saying,
- 49:47Speaker 1: even though they don't know me like that, you know.
- 49:49Speaker 1: So basically what happened with that was t I'm going
- 49:54Speaker 1: in the Multai class and T Pain texts me. He's
- 49:56Speaker 1: like yo, and I'm like yo. He didn't reply, and
- 50:01Speaker 1: I'm just like all right, whatever, so you know, I'll
- 50:04Speaker 1: call him probably at some point. Then the next day,
- 50:08Speaker 1: I'm at my homie Power's crib, which who also produced
- 50:11Speaker 1: on this record, and you know, we going over some stuff.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I get a text some T Pain a drop box
- 50:17Speaker 1: folder and I opened a folder and you know, I'm
- 50:20Speaker 1: listening to it and I was like, oh, this is
- 50:21Speaker 1: Troubles and this that and the third you know, and
- 50:24Speaker 1: then next thing, you know, his voice comes up and
- 50:26Speaker 1: I'm like, oh shit, I start spassing because the man
- 50:29Speaker 1: ripped it. And he gave me classic T pain, like
- 50:32Speaker 1: in T Pain that everybody knows. Fact, you know what
- 50:35Speaker 1: I'm saying. He gave me T Pain, T Pain. He
- 50:38Speaker 1: gave me him great record, and what he was writing
- 50:40Speaker 1: about was so really, I know you felt it. You know.
- 50:43Speaker 1: I felt that shit firsthand. And I was even I
- 50:46Speaker 1: even got self conscious a bit, and I was just like, damn,
- 50:49Speaker 1: should I change my verse? He was like nah, and
- 50:50Speaker 1: then POWERS like nah, hell noah, bro, like that's the record,
- 50:54Speaker 1: Like you got to keep it like that. So I'm like,
- 50:57Speaker 1: you know what you right? And I was feeling self
- 50:58Speaker 1: conscious because I'm like, damn, T Pain ripped it. But
- 51:00Speaker 1: I'm like, that's the pain, you know what I'm saying. No,
- 51:04Speaker 1: I mean, that's he's one of them ones. I mean,
- 51:06Speaker 1: like I think of him and Akon and like Lil
- 51:08Speaker 1: Wayne in the run that they had on like around
- 51:10Speaker 1: the same era, and like how they were just on everything.
- 51:14Speaker 1: It was like each of them had like three years
- 51:15Speaker 1: and they just kept passing the baton. It was like Acon,
- 51:17Speaker 1: then it was Pain, then it was Wayne in Pain,
- 51:19Speaker 1: and then it was just when it was It's every
- 51:21Speaker 1: remix everything. Yeah, it was crazy. Did you ever did
- 51:24Speaker 1: you ever end up? Did you ever do a song
- 51:26Speaker 1: with DJ Kelly? No? He never tapped in. Nah, I
- 51:29Speaker 1: feel like he gonna tap in though I know he
- 51:32Speaker 1: gonna tap in, though I don't even I don't even worry.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I'm not even worried about that. I know he gonna
- 51:37Speaker 1: tap in. And if you don't, he's sleeping. Yeah, because
- 51:40Speaker 1: I mean obviously you know he's he's had, he's had,
- 51:45Speaker 1: you know, born and raised in the County and Dade.
- 51:46Speaker 1: And look at this point, motherfuckers know who the fuck
- 51:49Speaker 1: I am. Yes, I know, motherfuckers know who the fuck
- 51:51Speaker 1: I am. Do they say anything, Nah, they'll tell me
- 51:54Speaker 1: in person, but they ain't gonn tweet about it was
- 51:56Speaker 1: on that Born and Raised record. It was uh, yeah,
- 52:00Speaker 1: it was tricky. Rick Ross was Dre on it from
- 52:04Speaker 1: Coon Dre. Nah, you must be thinking about brown people
- 52:07Speaker 1: bag brown babe. That was what Santana. That was my ship.
- 52:11Speaker 1: That ship was hot. Calid them early Klid records before,
- 52:15Speaker 1: like I mean, Kaled is still putting out one they
- 52:17Speaker 1: had to o. My god, bro, there was that one
- 52:21Speaker 1: Kalid video where Rick Ross gets pulled over and he
- 52:24Speaker 1: jumps off the bridge into the water. Do you remember that.
- 52:28Speaker 1: It was the most ridiculous, awesome, like overly like you
- 52:32Speaker 1: ain't talking about we taking over, right, I think? So
- 52:34Speaker 1: he gets pulled over and then he just says fuck
- 52:39Speaker 1: it and you just see Rick Ross jumping off of
- 52:41Speaker 1: and it's really him, like they didn't use the stunt
- 52:43Speaker 1: double and they filmed it from like all the angles
- 52:46Speaker 1: and it's Rick Ross just diving into the ocean. That
- 52:48Speaker 1: was an era for Miami. That was an era. They
- 52:51Speaker 1: all were on that double XL covers flow Rider, Ross
- 52:54Speaker 1: and Kalid. That ship was so fire. Plies, I know
- 52:58Speaker 1: Pies is from Fort Myers, but Plies now we adopt.
- 53:01Speaker 1: You could claim, yeah, he lives in Tampa. We claim
- 53:04Speaker 1: all Florida rappers. We claim everybody applies lives in Tampa.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Though a lot of people, you know what, don't tell
- 53:09Speaker 1: him where. Don't tell him telling the people where this
- 53:11Speaker 1: man live. Man, not that people know, they know. I
- 53:13Speaker 1: didn't know Tampa claims that motherfucker bro that will be
- 53:16Speaker 1: at the he'd be at the goddamn what's the grocery
- 53:19Speaker 1: store with the gray sandwiches in Florida publics, publics, I
- 53:22Speaker 1: miss publics, Yeah, me too, them subs, the public data.
- 53:26Speaker 1: They never had a pub slub. You know, it's crazy
- 53:29Speaker 1: because like you can go to Rouse here you get
- 53:31Speaker 1: the chicken ten of sub right, oh you can get it.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I mean, not anything, but the chicken sub. Chicken send
- 53:35Speaker 1: of sub is the best one. And wah wah. Oh
- 53:40Speaker 1: they just got down out here. No, not out here.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I'm just talking about it in Florida. I know in Florida.
- 53:48Speaker 1: I mean I moved there early twenty fourteen. After the club,
- 53:52Speaker 1: you'd be able to go to wah wahs and get
- 53:53Speaker 1: a solid meat ball or parmesan sandwich from a gas
- 53:57Speaker 1: station at like five am. Yeah, that's true. And it's like, oh,
- 54:01Speaker 1: why aren't there more wa wahs everywhere? The first time
- 54:03Speaker 1: I heard of a wah wah is because of Ronnie J.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Really yeah, he was the first person to ever tell
- 54:08Speaker 1: me what a wah wah was. It's it's kind of
- 54:11Speaker 1: crazy because people are trying to hype me up and
- 54:13Speaker 1: I'm like, it's a fucking gas station. No, it's not
- 54:15Speaker 1: just the just the gas station. You can yeah, you
- 54:18Speaker 1: can get some quality food at wah wahs. Yeah, I

- 55:43Speaker 1: Miami right and fuck yelp, you have to tell them
- 55:48Speaker 1: this is kind of the you know the food spot
- 55:50Speaker 1: that really ain't out there like that, what's the food
- 55:53Speaker 1: spot that you go to? I'd say people to South
- 55:56Speaker 1: Miami right, Oh somebody calling co vein. I think text
- 56:03Speaker 1: havane for me. Got hands Anyway, if you in Miami,
- 56:09Speaker 1: like go to South Miami right, or you go to Hialia,
- 56:13Speaker 1: it's a place called Hungry Bell. Hungry Bell. You get, yeah,
- 56:16Speaker 1: hungry Bell, and you get these big ass most fire
- 56:20Speaker 1: sandwich you probably ever had. Okay, I'm a sandwich guy. Like,
- 56:24Speaker 1: if you go to South Miami, it's right across the
- 56:26Speaker 1: street from Miami Dade. Okay, okay, you go over there,
- 56:29Speaker 1: like the South Campus. Yeah. So if you go down there,
- 56:32Speaker 1: go across the street from Miami Daye South Campus and
- 56:35Speaker 1: it's in this little plaza it's called Hungry Bell. Go
- 56:37Speaker 1: in there, go get you a sandwich. They cross everything
- 56:41Speaker 1: out on the list of what you want on your sandwich.
- 56:44Speaker 1: And bro, you could say, you could like if you
- 56:47Speaker 1: hella hungry eat half that sandwich right there. And Windwood, Nah,
- 56:52Speaker 1: it's I was in Windwood and this is my boy
- 56:55Speaker 1: from Miami took me to a sandwich place and it
- 56:57Speaker 1: was like that, like like with the you talk ab
- 57:00Speaker 1: our little saying. It was a sandwich spot and it
- 57:02Speaker 1: was fucking gas. But it was in Wyndwood. It was like,
- 57:05Speaker 1: I don't know. We went after Rolling Loud last year
- 57:07Speaker 1: and it was it was pretty fire. Are you doing
- 57:08Speaker 1: Rolling Loud this year? Nope? How many Rolling clouds have
- 57:11Speaker 1: you done? I did from twenty fifteen to twenty twenty nineteen?
- 57:19Speaker 1: Were you on the uh? I didn't do the twenty
- 57:22Speaker 1: eighteen one and I didn't do the twenty I mean
- 57:26Speaker 1: I kind of did the twenty sixteen one. We kind of, yeah,
- 57:31Speaker 1: I kind of did, because you know, I went there,
- 57:33Speaker 1: you know when you were there. I remember Making invited me.
- 57:35Speaker 1: He wanted me to come out during his set, and
- 57:37Speaker 1: I did that. Are we sure that was twenty sixteen?
- 57:41Speaker 1: That was twenty sixteen. It was on the smaller stage.
- 57:44Speaker 1: And I went out for Suicide Boys too, that Suicide
- 57:47Speaker 1: Boys man. Them just eating And then we got to Hey,
- 57:51Speaker 1: shout out to Pool. Oh, shout out to Pool. We
- 57:53Speaker 1: forgot to mention him when we're talking about Miami, right, yeah,
- 57:55Speaker 1: that's true. We got to mention Kuyah Puyah. I just
- 57:58Speaker 1: saw him not too long ago. He cut his hair again. Yeah,
- 58:01Speaker 1: you good to see pu Ya Pulla's good, super nice guy.
- 58:05Speaker 1: And Fat Nick. I love Fat Nick. He's just a character.
- 58:07Speaker 1: He's kind of like a He's like a walking cartoon character.
- 58:10Speaker 1: I always tell him, I'm like, bro, I'm cool with
- 58:12Speaker 1: Fat Nick, but I'm cooler with Pooya PuO. Yeah. Yeah,
- 58:15Speaker 1: now PuYas A, he's a beast. I feel like he
- 58:18Speaker 1: had to be influenced by what you guys. He says
- 58:21Speaker 1: it every day. Yeah, very much so. But he was
- 58:23Speaker 1: influenced by me. And now when like Raider Clan and shit,
- 58:27Speaker 1: you know the Raider Clan shit could have been so crazy. Yeah,
- 58:30Speaker 1: I mean, if things didn't play out the way it did,
- 58:34Speaker 1: all of us will be like multimillionaires right now. Instead
- 58:38Speaker 1: just you are. I ain't gonna even just put my
- 58:40Speaker 1: name in that ring like that. You know what I'm saying.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I'm doing well. You're doing well. I'm doing well. That's
- 58:46Speaker 1: all that matters. Man. What is like this? Everyone has
- 58:49Speaker 1: a stupid thing they spend money on? For me, I
- 58:52Speaker 1: don't buy like I don't have a nice I just
- 58:54Speaker 1: have a normal car. It's paid off. I don't have
- 58:56Speaker 1: car payment. You know. I usually buy just like I
- 59:01Speaker 1: buy basketball cards or Phoenix Sun's jerseys of like any
- 59:06Speaker 1: like I have like thirty Sons jersey. I don't I
- 59:08Speaker 1: just buy stupid ship like that. Maybe some Jordan's right,
- 59:11Speaker 1: What is the dumb thing to spend money on? I
- 59:13Speaker 1: don't even consider it dumb. But I buy toys like colection? Yeah,
- 59:17Speaker 1: I got a toy collection. You have like a toy room.
- 59:20Speaker 1: I got a toy case. But I just how old
- 59:24Speaker 1: are they? Like? Because I have my Owmi d You
- 59:27Speaker 1: remember that movie Small Soldiers. Of course, I bought those
- 59:30Speaker 1: toys like gargoyles. Bought those toysle Godzillas bought those toys.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Ultra Mantiga bought those toys, the whole school power ranges,
- 59:41Speaker 1: Like I remember, I remember, so you got all those
- 59:44Speaker 1: you buy them in the box and yeah, I don't
- 59:46Speaker 1: open them ships at all. Gotta go on eBay for that. Yeah,
- 59:50Speaker 1: I go on eBay. I try. I see how much
- 59:52Speaker 1: it is, and it'd be like three hundred dollars for
- 59:55Speaker 1: like the small soldiers. Shit, I'll be like, run it.
- 59:58Speaker 1: I just started to get some like fun codes, and
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I have I have like I have like some Lebron toys,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: which sounds really really stupid compared to your toys. And
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: I have all my old Ninja turtles from when I
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: was a kid still in my garage. I'll be looking
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: up the Burger King Dragon ball Z figurines, the ones
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: that was like silver, right, I'm trying to see how
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: much like they. What's the most expensive toy you have
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: or the most expensive toy that you actually cost you
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: like the most money? Man, It's kind of hard to decide.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I forgot how many, like how much one of my
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: toys costs. Damn, there's a lot over a thousand. I
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: don't even know over a thousand. I think as my
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: toys as a whole is over one thousand, probably over
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: two bands. That's tight. Small Soldiers had a solid soundtrack.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: They had a song with Bone Thugs on that soundtrack
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: that was fire. Yeah, that was a good movie. I
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: didn't remember the soundtrack though. Only tends to be a
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: big Bone Thugs fan as a kid, So like anything
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Bone Thugs is on, we would we would buy this, like, oh,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: they're on the Batman and Robin sound track, let's buy it.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Small olders, though, people forget about that fucking movie. Those
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: toys look so raw. I bet they do because the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: fucking old movies based on the toys. So like you, like,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: even the old school toy story toys looked hard because
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: it felt like it was like the same buzz like Woody.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I actually got those toy ks too, you know, Oh
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: so your ship is just nostalgic. Yeah, I got a
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: lot of Dragon ball Z toys. Are you a big
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: anime guy? Yeah? I mean I've seen you perform, and
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I know some of your aesthetic on your artwork all that,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: So I mean I can only assume what's your favorite,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: what's your what's like the goat anime to you. Cowboy Bebop.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Cowboy Bebop, that's the goat anime for me. People think
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: it's Dragon ball Z and I love Dragon ball Z,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I bought my son
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: the Blu Rays box set of Dragon ball Z. I
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: didn't realize how many episodes were on each season. That's like,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: I feel like it's like more than like most shows.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: But the thing with that, that shit that should just
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: get hella turned up, you know what I'm saying. Like,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I rewatched all non seasons of it during Quarantine and
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I was like, damn, this should give me anxiety again,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: like because they'd be powering up and you think something's
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: gonna happen, and then they got to go to the
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: next episode. You're like, what the hell's going on? You know?
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I rewatched The Wire during the pandemic and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Man,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: you ever watched Curb? Oh? I love Curb. Did you
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: watch this past season? No? I didn't get to see
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: the past season, but I like Curb. I never watched
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Seinfeld though, you know, I like Seinfeld until I watched
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Curb and I was like, Seinfeld ain't shit. Curb is
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: like what like Curb is like the absolute best version
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: of like that type of humor. So like Seinfeld was amazing.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I love Seinfeld, but it is not fucking with Curb. Nah, Curb.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Curb is just funny, especially when they have dic A
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Fox on that Oh my God, the Hurricane Katrina shit.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: And what's crazy is is old boys. Still Leon is
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: still on the show, Still is with Larry to this day,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: to this season. He's still in Larry's house, So good
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Man shout out to him on this album too. You
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: also got black Jed to talk about it. Was it
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: track eight? Am I getting the oh ship? Is that
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: track eight? What's this track is called I Gotta look
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: through It? What you mean No? It's called Ain't No Way.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: There's a song called what you mean No No No, Okay,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I just doesn't but there's a way. That song is crazy.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: It's like a real posse cut though, And you had
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: told me all the artists on this. I didn't even
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: realize Buddy was singing at the end like like crazy
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: posse cut. Yeah, who was on this record? Okay? So
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: it's myself, Jed, Josiah Rico, Nasty Kiddy, Cash, Buddy, Robert
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: glassper plays keys on this uh and powers and Buddy's
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: singing at the end. That's a hard I mean, is
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: that a hard song to pull off? Getting? Yo? You
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: would think it's a hard all the moving parts, Yo,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: you would think it's a hard song to pull off.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: But the night we recorded that, shit, it felt like
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: it was the easiest thing. Was everyone there. Everybody was there.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: Oh see, that's rare these days to have that many
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: people in the same place. Bru The way the link
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: up was crazy because I went there for a Josiah
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: session and Josiah was working on his arm song called
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Art of War, which at first I wasn't going right
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to it, and then I did the intro, but I
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: ended up writing to it. So I go outside started
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: writing my verse, and shit, right, Rico Nasty's next dough.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: I didn't even know she was in the same building.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Rico Nasty comes out the room the same time I
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: come out the room to write my verse. So I'm
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: on the couch writing. I hear I'm like, what the fuck? Like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I look up and I was like, oh, that's Rico,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Rico Rico. I called her name three times, Rico so
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Rico looked down Finally she was like, boy, what, oh,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: what's up this hell? I was like, yo, what's good? Ricos.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: We started chopping it up and then we go into
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: the next room. We go into the room with Josiah
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: and Sean and all them boys, and then I was like,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: look who I ran into. So Josiah and Rico chopping
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: it up. I'm showing them how to use the College
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: sticks and shit. And we was talking about before the interview,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: and there's an actual video of me, Josiah and Rico
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: and Rico I'm using the Collie sticks. And I asked Rico, a,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: you're trying to jump on this song with us, right?
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Because I did my verse and then we played it
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: for it. She was like, oh, hell yeah. And then
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: we y'all done. Let's like come over to my session
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: and shit. Well, we actually took the session to her room.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: To her to her room, it was a bigger room.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: So we go over to her session. It was just
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: her and David Ali and her engineer. We all come
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: in there, me, Sean, Josiah and Jazz and this other
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: dude who produced Are the War. We're all in there
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: just vibing. Next thing, you know, she was like, yeah,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I'm finna call Jig and just that, and the third
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: she calls, Jed tells Jed to pull up. I didn't
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: know Jid was with Black at the time or with
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Kitty Cash. Were just thinking, Jid gonna pull up. Jed
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: pulls up with Black and Kitty Cash. We call Powers
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: around the same time. We're like, Powers, you gotta come
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: to this session. You got to. He was doing some
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: other shit. He was like, all right, I'm on the way.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: He brought his laptop. He was like, he was on
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: the way. He comes through. So now there's a lot
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: of us, and now we're seeing Black and Kitty Cash
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: in the same room. Next thing you know, we in
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: there experimented this motherfucker h Josiah's on the couch like
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: turning up and shit like yelling, ain't no way. We
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: freestyling over this beat that Powers played and it had
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: two halves to it, so we had you know, that's
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: when Jed. I don't know what happened, but this nigga
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: was like Quincy Jones. That night. This man started organizing
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: the track, like, hey, hey, whatever you're saying right now,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: do that shit go in the studio. Record that shit boom,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: so Josiah says, ain't no way, ain't no way, ain't
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: no way on the way, like like kind of like
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: a bridge type shit. Then he goes and tells Black Black,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: we need you to do this hook. He goes in there,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: does the hook like, ain't no way, niggas me. After
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: this he does that, then he was like, Rico, you
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: need to write this, like you need to write this
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: verse right now, and then you need to go after Josiah.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So he started organizing the shit, and he was like, Dizzelle,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: where you want to go. So I'm like, man, long
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: as I'm on this shit, I don't give a fuck
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: where I'm at. You get what I'm saying, Because there
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: was so many of us. Buddy's not there yet, Buddy's
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: not there yet. Buddy came through. Like, I'll let you
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: know where Buddy came through. So we already recorded ARTI
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: war me, Rico and Josiah right then we recorded. Then
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: we started recording Ain't no way and just putting the
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: pieces together. So he's organizing everybody. Jed, I don't know.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Jed kind of got this experience due to the fact
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: that they did the Revenge of the Dreamer shit. So
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you Yeah, he was. I mean that
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: I've heard in detail about those sessions, so it makes sense.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: He would, you know, how to kind of conduct everybody.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Then Jed goes in, ain't no way, I ain't gonna
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: sew shank from out the ship. He does his verse
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: and I'm sitting there right and he gets out the booth.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: This is that what you got? And then I started
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: spending my verse on. He was like, that's it going there.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: So I go in, I do my verse, and then
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Black shows up with a bunch of females, so we
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: in there. Black goes in started doing a oh oh
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: oh oh, and then the song's completely done. They did
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: a third track, but I went home. I told it
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: was getting too late. She convincing me to stay in
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: the studio. Matter of fact, I didn't even get the
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Kitty Cash part. He was like, Kitty, there's a bridge,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: there's like a little part right here. We need you
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: to talk shit. And Kitty goes in there and kills
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: it one take. Wow, you know what I'm saying. And
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: then after that I go home. They made it one
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: more track that night, and they said it ain't no
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: way to me. But originally we wanted Rico to have it.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: That was supposed to be Rico's record, but David was like,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: you know, it's all fair game. Whoever wants it could
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: have it. And to be honest with you, I didn't
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: want no features for this album. The only feature was
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: t paying. That was the only one I allowed. But
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: when it came down to the final stages and nobody
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: was claiming this record like it was gonna be hard
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: for powers to clear it, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Rico didn't want the record, even though I felt like
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: it fit for her. Like I was like, my management
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: was like, why don't we just put this record on
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: the album? And I was just like I was on
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: the fence about it at first, because I'm like, how
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: the fuck we gonna get all this shit cleared? So
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: many different moving parts, so many Yeah, and we all
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: know each other though, and so we was of course
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: we was gonna make it work. So we go to
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Electric Lady and I finished a little half. I added
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: more to my verse because it was short, it was
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: the same same length as Jizz Verse. I added more
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: to it, and Robert Glasper started adding his like keys
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: over it. Next thing, you know, the song was completed,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: and that's how that song came about. You didn't tell
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: me how Buddy got on it. Oh buddy shows up
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: and then he just ended up did the same shit.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: That's so crazy that like, because we don't hear that
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: those kind of sessions anymore, especially that many people like
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: it's always some email and that shit sounded like there
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: was no email, all in person, and there's pictures and
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: videos to prove that all of us was there that
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: night recording this track. Tell me about you know, you
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: have a crazy discography. How many plaques do you have? Three?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Three plaques? That's big independently, Yeah, I was saying independent.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: I mean no, I mean that's huge. Your discography is
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: very diverse, it's very vast. What is your If I
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: had to ask you what your favorite album is, it's
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: probably gonna be this one excluding this one. How about that?
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Excluding this one? Yeah? Shit, I can't tell you, bro,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: I don't really got like a favorite album. Like I
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: hate looking at my old work. What is the song
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: that you hear that's popular of yours or that you
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: hate to perform because it's like so old And you're like,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: I'm so I've evolved so much past this, but the
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: fans fucking love it. I mean, I would say ultimately,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: but I love that song. It's fucking great, you know,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: like I would say Claude Cobain, but I love that
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: song too. I like Ricky, but I love that song too.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: And those are my hiss. But one song that I like,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: I don't feel confident performing, but I love it so
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: much because it's my favorite song that I ever made.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Is this Life Okay? From Imperial? Is it like, is
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: it weird to like when you put a track list together? Obviously,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: every time you put a new album out, you're like,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: when you go on tour, you have to change up,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: you switch up your track list. Is it kind of hard,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: like dropping some records that you've been performing for some years.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: It's like I'm kind of getting rid of some of
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: my kids on this tour. Yeah, I mean at first
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: it's hard, and then we like we would put those
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: records back in, and then when the crowd doesn't move
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: because they don't know it, we take them right back out.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: So it's like an almost like an always evolving play
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: like track list. When you're when you're when you do
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: your tours, are you gonna be torn? For this album,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: of course. Yeah, I mean, I don't know, man, some
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: people are weird out by COVID still and give a fuck.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: I caught COVID twice twice? Was it the omicron? Was
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: it the O G COVID? For Nah, I didn't get
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: the og COVID. I didn't get the killer COVID. I
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: don't think. Okay, thank god, but nah, I got on
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: COVID last year in July, on July fourth. Actually didn't
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: even know. I just thought the ship was allergies and
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: I was moving around jogging all types of shit. Actually,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: one of the tracks on this album Mental, I wrapped
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: that while I had COVID and I didn't even know
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: COVID track. Yeah, that was the COVID track. Did you
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: vax that thing up? As Juvenile would say, did I
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: vex that thing? Did you see the Juvenile I vexed
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: that thing? Did you see that? Did you see the video?
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: You didn't see the music video they paid Juvenile to do. No,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's so good. Juvenile did a remix
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: of back that ass up and he called it vaxed
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: that thing up and they did a music video. Oh
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: my god, it was like a ju juvie vax. That
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: thing up. I swear to it's it's It was. Probably
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: one of my favorite things to come out of the
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: pandemic was the fact that Juvenile did that. I was
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: just like this, I don't know what to think about this,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: but I'm just glad it happened. It kind of sucks,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: kind of sad, but you know, oh my god, when
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: pandering goes wrong, because it was like a government thing,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: you know, they're like, yo, how can we get minorities
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: to get vaccinated? You know what? Juvenile hey man, Back then,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: it ain't sound sorry fetched. They got me to stop
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: telling motherfuckers to stop vaping. I mean, yeah, vapor is
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: probably not the greatest thing for you, yep, and so
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: is covid. This is not the greatest thing for you either.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: So it is what it is. When you say they
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: got you, did you do a campaign for that? Yeah,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I had to keep it up for a few months
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: and shit. And then it was like, why would you
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: do a campaign of no vapor? And I was like, well, shit,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I was already telling motherfuckers stop vaping for free, might
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: as well get the bag. Yeah, vaping's bad, and it's
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: not far fetched from what I was already telling motherfuckers.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: It's not like I was just out the blue just
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: being like, hey, you stop vaping. Do you have a
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: friend that vapes, like like a serious vapor, Like it
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: was my booking agent. I got him to stop vaping.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: They won't like like if you have a friend that
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: has like a hardcore vapor, it's like it's like attached
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: to them, Like it's like the big rig with the
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: little thing. I know people that are still vaping, Like
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: one of my I ain't gonna name his name, but like, yeah,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: he'd be vaping. I'd be like, man, that should be smelling.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I came here, I was like, man, get this shit
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: out of here. Though. I feel like one of those
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: big vape rigs. A Fox Racing T shirts, some cargo shorts,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: some DC shoes, Oh my god, just a busted down
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: black and white trucker hat and ICP playing. When I
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: think of vapors, that's what I think of. Well, hey,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: so look the album is out March twenty fifth. Yep,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: the twenty fifth. Why they get break down the title
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: because the title is is yeah, it's a lot, Okay,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: the whole thing with the whole title melt my I
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: See a Future. When I first made that title, it
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: was supposed to come out after Taboo, and I just thought, like,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I I made this long ass title. It sound fire,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: that's all I thought it was. I was like, damn
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: if I was thinking of a fire name or album
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: what I call it? And I was like, my I
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: see your future. I was like, shit, that shit, it
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: sounds hard. But as I started working on the album,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: it was pretty much about awareness at a point, and
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: then I was like, but I'm not gonna name an
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: album awareness. Yeah, that's like that's whack as fuck, Like
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: I ain't gonna name my album awareness be a terrible
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: album name. He's like, awareness, we need to be aware.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Like shut up, like you know what I'm saying. You've
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: already made people aware to stop baping. Yeah. Of course
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: awareness was done exactly so when I made so when
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: I started working on it more it was more so
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: about myself and it's discovering who I am, and you know,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: like a self discovery type of thing and flaws and everything,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: what I'm good at and what I'm not good at,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: what I need to work on, what I don't need
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: to work on, you know, And it just became about
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: melting the perception who of what people thought? I was
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: all right, you know because during the quarantine, you know,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: before that, before we all had to isolate, people were
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: telling me, Yo, you're the greatest rapper, or you're this,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: or you're that, or you're a great performer, or you're
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: the best rapper all the time, or you're this. But
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: the moment quarantine happened, all that shit did not exist anymore.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: What do you mean that shit didn't exist? You're just
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: getting like praises praise. So when people wasn't telling me
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: who Denzel Curry was, then who are you? Who the
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: fuck am I? Exactly? That's real if you Yeah, because
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: if that's always happening, because you're always out, you're alway
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: running around, you're always seeing people, you can kind of
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: just live off of that. Yeah, and you're living off
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: your own high. Yeah, you're smelling your own high. You're
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: smelling yeah. No, it's real roses a bit. And you
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: can exist in that way until you can't until it's
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: all gone. And then once it's all gone, you are
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: completely on human level. Yep, with everybody, you were on
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: the same plan field. You get know what I'm saying,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Anything could happen. So once I got to that point
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: where I was like, who am I? It just took
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: two years to figure out and like do a little
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: soul searching and self discovery the time with the time
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: I did have, So the pandemic was great for you
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: personally personal growth wise. Hell yeah, I think, I mean,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I think I feel like I still got shipped. I
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: need to work on. Of course, you're never going to
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: not have shit. You should work on. No one's ever
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: gonna be perfect. But as in being a totally perfect person,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be that. Being a totally flawed person,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be that either. That's fair. Well, shout
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: out to my guy. I appreciate you finally pulling up. Man.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: I'm glad to be here anytime. Man, just let me
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: know when you need me to come back, because I'll
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: come back. The album is crazy, I was saying, like,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I mean, I've listened to pretty much every album this year.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: It's like up there for best album of the year.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: I mean, I know we're only a quarter of the
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: way through the year, but it's an amazing body of work. Man,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: So congrats. Oh this been on my mind just for
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: floor to rappers. Four or five four. Make sure y'all
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: check that motherfucker out too. Okay, let's get it out there.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Four or five four? Yeah, four five four. I'm a peep.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: There it is, and damn is that it? That's all.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I don't know what else. Ship. I always gotta, I gotta.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: I gotta end with this. You want to rap? Hell? No?
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Nah nah? I just wanted to end with like we
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: still recording. Yeah, all right. If you're not a Denzel
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Curry fan for whatever reason, if you think I'm trash,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: if you think I'm ass, if you think I'm garbage,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: listen to this fucking album. And I bet you, I
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: bet all my money that you would like this shit.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: If you were a Denzel Curry fan and you left
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: for whatever reason, bump this fucking album because you're gonna
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: be a Denzel Curry fan again. That's what I believe.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: There's no doubt in my mind. There ain't gonna be
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: no skips on this bitch. And you notice that's what
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I'm leaving off. Zero skips, fourteen tracks, zero skips, zero skips.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: It's two seven. I'm channeling God twice. Supreme mathematics. There
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: it is
