- 1:04Speaker 6: What's up?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:06Speaker 6: I am Brian.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I'm Greg.
- 1:08Speaker 6: And once again, we're doing a little broken up version
- 1:11Speaker 6: of the family this week. People have lots of things
- 1:15Speaker 6: to do.
- 1:15Speaker 1: A lot of lives. Pinning any of them down is impossible.
- 1:19Speaker 1: and Misty just can't stand to see us for two
- 1:21Speaker 1: weeks in a row. So, you know, we're going to
- 1:23Speaker 1: see her next week.
- 1:23Speaker 6: We don't want to ruin things this week.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So she said, what'd she say? I don't want to
- 1:28Speaker 1: hang out with those losers again. Is that what it was?
- 1:31Speaker 6: I think that's every week.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:34Speaker 6: So yeah, we, we thought we would throw a, a
- 1:37Speaker 6: movie viewing party up for ourselves here. So we'll kick
- 1:41Speaker 6: things off with the geek week. Um, I myself, and
- 1:46Speaker 6: this is sort of, uh, I guess been going on
- 1:48Speaker 6: for at least a couple of months, maybe when I
- 1:51Speaker 6: saw the very first one, but I kind of got
- 1:54Speaker 6: into it a little more in the last few weeks.
- 1:56Speaker 6: I've been watching Shameless. Oh. I don't know how familiar
- 2:00Speaker 6: you are with it.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Not watched it, but I know of it.
- 2:03Speaker 6: Yeah, they kind of run the promos on stuff online,
- 2:08Speaker 6: and I think maybe it's even crossed over on legitimate channels.
- 2:11Speaker 6: Not too many promos, because most of them they can't
- 2:14Speaker 6: show on regular. It is on Showtime, so... Yeah, I
- 2:18Speaker 6: kind of was interested going in just because it's a
- 2:21Speaker 6: TV show, but it bothered to get William H. Macy,
- 2:23Speaker 6: which seems very removed from normal television. And even that
- 2:28Speaker 6: first promo I saw for it, I was like, this
- 2:31Speaker 6: is not... I mean, this is a very unusual family
- 2:37Speaker 6: as far as sitcom families, which this is far from
- 2:40Speaker 6: a sitcom.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It's not at all.
- 2:42Speaker 6: But, I mean, you don't used to regular network channel
- 2:45Speaker 6: family shows anymore. Even for the more racy ones, this
- 2:48Speaker 6: one goes.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Far beyond that. So, yeah, I ended up seeing the
- 2:54Speaker 1: very first one, I think, before it even premiered.
- 2:56Speaker 6: They did, like, a sneak preview after something and was
- 2:58Speaker 6: really impressed with it and then kind of just lost
- 3:01Speaker 6: when it was on into the last few weeks and
- 3:03Speaker 6: then have been trying to catch up because they're rerunning
- 3:06Speaker 6: some of them. And they're coming to the end of
- 3:07Speaker 6: the season, and it's just a great show. Like, it
- 3:10Speaker 6: really is just amazing how well written it is. All
- 3:14Speaker 6: the performances and a good portion of them are kids,
- 3:17Speaker 6: which usually that's trouble.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's six.
- 3:21Speaker 6: Kids in this family or something like it. At least
- 3:23Speaker 6: I still can't. I'm trying to figure out what at
- 3:25Speaker 6: least one of the other ones. But I think there's,
- 3:26Speaker 6: you know, five or six younger. Like there's a good
- 3:29Speaker 6: five or so that are probably under 18. So it's yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 6: it's a ton of little kids acting. And yet that's
- 3:36Speaker 6: where most of the foul language comes from. And in some, well,
- 3:40Speaker 6: in a lot of cases, the sex as well. So
- 3:43Speaker 6: it's a racy show.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 6: It's a, yeah, it's, it's, there's a lot of, um,
- 3:48Speaker 6: weird stuff going on and most of them are underage.
- 3:51Speaker 1: So it's, it's, Why do you like Knott's?
- 3:55Speaker 6: Because it's ten times better written than anything else on television.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And it's realistic. That's what I was going to say.
- 4:02Speaker 6: It's a very unusual family for television. Truth is, probably
- 4:07Speaker 6: a good portion of the families out in the world
- 4:09Speaker 6: are really close to this. Granted, this isn't like your
- 4:13Speaker 6: squeaky clean two and a half kids in a dog
- 4:17Speaker 6: in the yard kind of family.
- 4:18Speaker 1: This is your welfare family.
- 4:20Speaker 6: This is the Family with six kids, living in one house,
- 4:24Speaker 6: fighting constantly, dad's getting hauled away by the police, like
- 4:28Speaker 6: Cops that was on earlier when you came in.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Or a realistic version of My Name is Earl. Yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I mean, it's pretty close to that.
- 4:36Speaker 6: If that was done a little more straight, I mean, granted,
- 4:39Speaker 6: it's certainly got its moments of humor. It realizes how
- 4:42Speaker 6: ridiculous some of these situations are and definitely gets a
- 4:45Speaker 6: laugh out of it when it's needed. But it's still,
- 4:48Speaker 6: for the most part, a drama and... kind of like
- 4:51Speaker 6: sad at times how like realistic it is and just
- 4:55Speaker 6: what's going on in these families and what these kids
- 4:57Speaker 6: have to deal with. So, I mean, it's, it's really
- 5:00Speaker 6: impressive on that level. And in my usual way of
- 5:04Speaker 6: liking things, there's always that extra little incentive. I've also
- 5:08Speaker 6: developed a vicious crush on Emmy Rossum is the female lead.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Would I know her from anything?
- 5:15Speaker 6: Well, I found that out because that's about the only, well,
- 5:18Speaker 6: one of the other things I've watched in the last
- 5:19Speaker 6: few weeks.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I went in and she's the oldest of the kids, basically.
- 5:24Speaker 6: She's the older one that's taking care of all the
- 5:26Speaker 6: little kids.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Basically, because dad is William H.
- 5:28Speaker 6: Macy and a fucking drunk and is the worst father ever. So, yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 6: she's basically taking care of this entire family. So, yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 6: then I'm sitting here that first episode. I'm just like, man,
- 5:41Speaker 6: she is really good. Like just acting wise in general,
- 5:44Speaker 6: she's really good. And we're trying to figure out what
- 5:46Speaker 6: she's from. And she's been in a couple other things.
- 5:48Speaker 6: She's been in decent stuff on TV. But then I
- 5:51Speaker 6: went back and looked at her filmography. And she's the
- 5:55Speaker 6: lead in the more recent version of Phantom of the
- 5:58Speaker 6: Opera that they made.
- 5:59Speaker 7: Oh, really?
- 6:00Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 6: And then I was like, damn it, I was always
- 6:03Speaker 6: kind of on the fence with that one anyway because
- 6:04Speaker 6: I like the story. I even like the music involved
- 6:08Speaker 6: in that version as much as I don't like musicals.
- 6:10Speaker 6: That's one of the few that I think they did
- 6:12Speaker 6: something interesting with. And so I was like, all right,
- 6:16Speaker 6: that kind of pushes it over the edge. I'm going
- 6:17Speaker 6: to have to watch it. So I did end up
- 6:19Speaker 6: watching that. I won't go too far into that because
- 6:22Speaker 6: I would be up for watching that for an episode.
- 6:25Speaker 6: I don't know that anybody else would be on board,
- 6:27Speaker 6: but I ended up having a very different reaction than
- 6:30Speaker 6: I expected. I went in with a lot of weird
- 6:32Speaker 6: preconceived notions.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It kind of shattered all of them.
- 6:36Speaker 6: Wow.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And I'm not even like.
- 6:39Speaker 6: I don't know. I still don't know 100% what I
- 6:42Speaker 6: think of it. So I think it would be interesting
- 6:44Speaker 6: to discuss. So I might leave that one alone. But
- 6:46Speaker 6: that's probably the most high-profile thing is she is the,
- 6:49Speaker 6: I mean, she's Christine.
- 6:50Speaker 1: She's the female lead in that entire movie. So that
- 6:54Speaker 1: was several years ago, too. So for her to be
- 6:56Speaker 1: thrown a project that huge when she was still pretty young,
- 6:59Speaker 1: that's impressive, too. Good for her.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely. She's impressive as an actress. And there's something
- 7:07Speaker 6: just ridiculously hot about her. But no, I have to
- 7:11Speaker 6: say that because it's, it's, it's not like, because that's
- 7:13Speaker 6: the thing. They do little promos and she's all fixed
- 7:16Speaker 6: up or I'll see her at award shows and then stuff.
- 7:18Speaker 6: And like, she looks hot, like normal girls do on
- 7:21Speaker 6: the show. She's like, so like normal girl. Like she
- 7:26Speaker 6: is so stripped down, no makeup. Usually we're in a
- 7:29Speaker 6: wife beater.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I mean, it's like the most unglamorous version of a
- 7:33Speaker 1: girl ever. And somehow she's hotter like that.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Like there's something, I don't understand it, but god damn
- 7:40Speaker 6: she's hot on that show.
- 7:41Speaker 1: What's that say about you? It does. Like the more
- 7:44Speaker 1: I looked at it.
- 7:45Speaker 6: Well, actually it doesn't surprise me because if I look
- 7:49Speaker 6: back at all the girls I've liked, starting from, you know,
- 7:52Speaker 6: As a very young child, they weren't really girly girls.
- 7:56Speaker 6: It was, you know, my early ones were tomboy kind
- 7:58Speaker 6: of girls on TV.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You know, the one that was always out playing baseball.
- 8:02Speaker 6: And I'm like, she's cool. I like that girl. And
- 8:05Speaker 6: then as time's gone on, they've just been like very
- 8:07Speaker 6: unconventional girls. You know, they've always been girl next door
- 8:10Speaker 6: kind of girls. You know, they've never been the big
- 8:13Speaker 6: glamorous girly girl. It's always been very normal girls. So
- 8:17Speaker 6: it doesn't really surprise me.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I always, I think.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I know what you're getting at, because they're always the
- 8:24Speaker 3: ones where there's something wrong with them.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Well, this one, she definitely fits the bill.
- 8:30Speaker 6: Not personally, no offense to Emmy, but as a character,
- 8:34Speaker 6: oh my God, there's 400 things wrong with her every
- 8:36Speaker 6: day of the week.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Not necessarily the actress, but the person, I can't talk tonight,
- 8:41Speaker 3: the character they're playing.
- 8:41Speaker 8: Yes.
- 8:46Speaker 3: If there's something wrong with them, you know, a flaw,
- 8:49Speaker 3: they're more attractive. It's like that Juliette Lewis thing where sometimes,
- 8:55Speaker 3: you know, she's... Not when she's completely fucked up.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And not when she's... But when she's just a kind of...
- 9:01Speaker 1: When she's just a little quirky. She's just too quirky
- 9:04Speaker 1: most of the time.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But there's times where she plays roles where she's just
- 9:09Speaker 3: off of normal.
- 9:12Speaker 1: That's when she's her most attractive.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Yeah. Well, this one, I mean, yeah, she works across
- 9:17Speaker 6: the board. I mean, it's fine if you fix her
- 9:19Speaker 6: up because I've seen plenty of pictures of her where I'm.
- 9:21Speaker 10: Like, damn, she's gorgeous.
- 9:24Speaker 6: But it's funny how much it works when she's just
- 9:27Speaker 6: completely stripped down, total unglamorous. It works a little better.
- 9:33Speaker 1: You know, Mellencamp's ex-wife, the model, I forget it. erwin
- 9:38Speaker 1: is that her name that's what i was trying to
- 9:39Speaker 1: think i think it is i worked at.
- 9:41Speaker 3: A bookstore once and of course she's an extremely beautiful
- 9:45Speaker 3: woman this was in bloomington indiana and one morning sleeping
- 9:50Speaker 3: morning she um this was a bookstore that had a
- 9:53Speaker 3: lot of magazines and art magazines and jewelry.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And just arts and crafts kind of stuff weird stuff magazine. Specifically.
- 10:01Speaker 3: It was the largest distributor of magazines in Indiana. But anyway,
- 10:06Speaker 3: she came in. I had no idea it was her.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Hair in a ponytail, no makeup on, sweatpants and a
- 10:11Speaker 3: t-shirt on.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And I didn't know it was her. And I was like,
- 10:14Speaker 1: this is a beautiful woman. This is a.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And then I found out who it was. And she
- 10:20Speaker 3: was actually more beautiful dressed down than she was dressed up.
- 10:25Speaker 6: And then.
- 10:26Speaker 3: And then, you know, come to find out, yeah, of course,
- 10:28Speaker 3: she's a knockout. And then on top of that, she
- 10:30Speaker 3: was one of the nicest customers we'd ever had.
- 10:33Speaker 6: That's because it was a college town full of douchebags.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Right. You're right. It is full of douchebags.
- 10:39Speaker 3: And I'm not saying this as, you know, yay for
- 10:43Speaker 3: her or sort of anything like that, but I was...
- 10:45Speaker 3: Very impressed with how down to earth, and that she
- 10:48Speaker 3: was willing to go out herself in sweatpants and a t-shirt.
- 10:53Speaker 3: I'm sure married to him and her having her own people, probably.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I mean, she could have very easily sent someone. I
- 11:00Speaker 3: also worked there a few years later. I worked at
- 11:02Speaker 3: a restaurant that they would come and we would put
- 11:04Speaker 3: them kind of in a corner. It was in a
- 11:05Speaker 3: little lounge area and they would eat. She would eat
- 11:07Speaker 3: and he would just sit and smoke. And she would
- 11:10Speaker 3: be done up nice, but... Nothing like when she was
- 11:14Speaker 3: in her sweatpants.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I'm telling you, there's something to that.
- 11:17Speaker 3: And I'm not saying I like sweatpants, but, you know,
- 11:20Speaker 3: dressed down.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Dressed down, yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 6: I think it's one of those, and maybe it's just
- 11:25Speaker 6: the type of guy that you have to be to
- 11:28Speaker 6: appreciate that. Or maybe I think there's also something to...
- 11:31Speaker 6: If you look good at that level, you're always going
- 11:34Speaker 6: to look good. Where there's women who can fix themselves up,
- 11:37Speaker 6: and they do clean up nice, but really in the
- 11:40Speaker 6: real world.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You're just like, I have no interest in that.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Whereas if you see somebody completely stripped down like that,
- 11:46Speaker 6: and you're still just completely in love with them, then
- 11:50Speaker 6: that's it. It's like don't waste your time anywhere else.
- 11:53Speaker 6: That's where you need to be.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Now that we're talking about beauty instead of movies, but
- 11:58Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Hey, this is entertainment related.
- 12:02Speaker 1: There you go. Unless, of course, you can get me
- 12:04Speaker 1: to actually come over here. I'll give her a call.
- 12:07Speaker 6: And I think your Irwin girl, they're not together anymore.
- 12:10Speaker 1: So if you can get a hold of her. I
- 12:12Speaker 1: can't imagine. Was it Meg Ryan that he's with now?
- 12:15Speaker 10: Is it? Oh, God.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I think he's with Meg Ryan. That's a major step down.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Especially on this show. She will get no love.
- 12:24Speaker 6: Right.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I like her probably a little more than anybody, and
- 12:27Speaker 1: that's not saying much. She was cute as hell in
- 12:30Speaker 1: Top Gun.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Wow.
- 12:32Speaker 1: That's going back a ways. That's going back a ways.
- 12:35Speaker 1: She was drunk most of that movie, I think. Or
- 12:37Speaker 1: at least she acted like it. She wasn't in it
- 12:38Speaker 1: very often. Yeah, that too.
- 12:41Speaker 6: Very small, not a screen time. So yeah, I've watched
- 12:46Speaker 6: quite a few episodes of Shameless in the last few weeks.
- 12:49Speaker 6: So if you haven't seen it, if you have access
- 12:51Speaker 6: to that channel, or at some point, I'm assuming they'll
- 12:55Speaker 6: put them all on Netflix or something, it's definitely worth watching.
- 12:58Speaker 6: It's pretty impressively put together. What have you done?
- 13:02Speaker 1: What have I done?
- 13:03Speaker 3: You can put a big I watch Netflix across my brain,
- 13:07Speaker 3: across my forehead.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I came to Netflix... Fairly recently, I suppose, because I
- 13:13Speaker 1: hadn't seen it and I keep my eyes out for stuff,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but The Thing was on Netflix.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Like the remake?
- 13:21Speaker 1: This is the.
- 13:23Speaker 6: John Carpenter?
- 13:23Speaker 1: John Carpenter, 1981, The Thing, yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 6: That's all I need to hear, because, yeah, I.
- 13:30Speaker 1: If you want to go ahead, but I'm just, I
- 13:32Speaker 1: don't pick favorite movies.
- 13:34Speaker 6: But that could very easily be in the top 10
- 13:36Speaker 6: of most awesome fucking movies ever.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Well, I show you, and it's been a while since
- 13:41Speaker 3: I've seen it, probably over 10 years, and I loved it.
- 13:45Speaker 1: It's one of the best suspense movies, you know, of
- 13:50Speaker 1: all time.
- 13:51Speaker 3: And you have to lump it in with the, to me,
- 13:54Speaker 3: the stranded in space sci-fi movies, because that's really what
- 13:58Speaker 3: they are.
- 13:59Speaker 1: They're... There's some place that nobody's going to help them.
- 14:01Speaker 1: The elements, they have no way out. They're stuck.
- 14:08Speaker 6: It's just one of those isolation situations, like that type
- 14:11Speaker 6: of screenplay, which, I mean, really, you can set those anywhere.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Anywhere.
- 14:15Speaker 6: Space definitely is the easiest because you can very easily
- 14:18Speaker 6: be cut off from everyone.
- 14:20Speaker 3: But, yeah, it's... And as I was turning it on,
- 14:24Speaker 3: my wife's never seen it. She's not that kind of
- 14:27Speaker 3: a movie-goer. And she'll watch television. She'll be working on
- 14:32Speaker 3: a computer and look up while I'm... little Greg's watching
- 14:39Speaker 3: her films on Netflix. And, um, and I said, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 3: this one's, she said, well, why do you like this necessarily?
- 14:47Speaker 3: And this is as it was coming on. I said, well,
- 14:49Speaker 3: first of all, the cast is fantastic in this movie. Um,
- 14:53Speaker 3: and the setting, I just really enjoyed the setting. Um, And,
- 14:57Speaker 3: you know, the special effects were great.
- 15:00Speaker 1: When I was a kid.
- 15:00Speaker 6: They're still good. Like, that's the thing. I mean, I
- 15:02Speaker 6: can go back and look at a lot of stuff
- 15:04Speaker 6: in the 80s and look at how bad the special
- 15:06Speaker 6: effects are.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And I adjust for time.
- 15:08Speaker 6: I realize I don't even get very harsh as far
- 15:11Speaker 6: as being a critic of that because I know things
- 15:14Speaker 6: were very different then.
- 15:15Speaker 1: And truthfully, I kind of like those practical effects better
- 15:17Speaker 1: most of the time.
- 15:18Speaker 10: Right.
- 15:18Speaker 6: But that one still stands out. Like, it's rare that
- 15:22Speaker 6: there's anything in that that's not like, wow, that still
- 15:24Speaker 6: looks fucking amazing.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Right.
- 15:26Speaker 1: How many years later?
- 15:27Speaker 3: And, you know, I even said to her, I said, well,
- 15:29Speaker 3: this is, she said, well, this is going to be
- 15:31Speaker 3: pretty gory. You know, we have to edit just in
- 15:32Speaker 3: case the children walk out and get a drink of
- 15:34Speaker 3: water or.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Something late at night.
- 15:36Speaker 3: And she said, she said, is this one, is this
- 15:38Speaker 3: one real gory or a lot of nasty deaths? And
- 15:42Speaker 3: I said, you know, it's, and I don't know why
- 15:44Speaker 3: I even said it. I said, it's a lot more
- 15:46Speaker 3: cerebral and less, and less gore. And then as I
- 15:49Speaker 3: get into it, I was like, oh my God. This
- 15:52Speaker 3: really is horrific.
- 15:54Speaker 10: It's hit and miss.
- 15:55Speaker 1: It's like it's key scenes.
- 15:56Speaker 6: It's like the kids could walk out for a good
- 15:58Speaker 6: 40 minute stretch and be fine. But you hit those like.
- 16:01Speaker 6: Two scenes along the way, it's like, yeah, you're screwed.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Or the, you know, what is it, the Norwegians? Is
- 16:09Speaker 1: that who they are? Yeah, the Norwegians. You know, the
- 16:11Speaker 1: doctor that they come across.
- 16:13Speaker 3: If the kids walk out at that point, holy God,
- 16:16Speaker 3: that's traumatic to see.
- 16:17Speaker 6: This is probably about the time I watched it. So
- 16:20Speaker 6: this explains everything. Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I watched it very young and loved it then, too. Oh, no,
- 16:26Speaker 3: it's a fantastic movie. And again, to me, the pace
- 16:30Speaker 3: of the whole thing is just fantastic. I just had
- 16:35Speaker 3: a ball of a time. I wanted to start it
- 16:37Speaker 3: over right when I was done.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, it is one of the few that
- 16:41Speaker 6: just is still amazing. Like, it holds up. It's funny,
- 16:47Speaker 6: the only thing that really dates it is that computer thing.
- 16:50Speaker 6: watching him on that watching him play chess on that
- 16:53Speaker 6: is so laughable now it's like that and the giant
- 16:56Speaker 6: headphones the dude's wearing yeah yeah it's like other than
- 16:59Speaker 6: the little technological things like it is still just fucking
- 17:03Speaker 6: flawless as a movie it really.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Is right right yeah yeah Yeah, it's a good movie.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I don't even know what else to say about it
- 17:10Speaker 3: other than if you haven't seen it, you have to
- 17:14Speaker 3: see it. If you haven't seen it, I feel bad
- 17:17Speaker 3: for you.
- 17:18Speaker 6: If you have seen it, go watch it again because
- 17:19Speaker 6: it's that damn good.
- 17:20Speaker 1: And again, there's that whole thing of the people that,
- 17:24Speaker 1: oh my gosh, you haven't seen that. Well, to me,
- 17:27Speaker 1: that's not... How dare you not have seen that? You've
- 17:30Speaker 1: got to go watch it now. I'm so excited for you.
- 17:32Speaker 1: You haven't seen this yet. I kind of get that.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's a little of both. It's like, oh my god,
- 17:36Speaker 1: how have you not?
- 17:37Speaker 6: But then usually I try to keep myself from being
- 17:40Speaker 6: that super movie geek elite. Oh my god, how have
- 17:42Speaker 6: you not seen that? Because then I think about all
- 17:45Speaker 6: the stuff that I haven't seen. I've seen a lot
- 17:48Speaker 6: of stuff, but you're never done. There's still so much stuff,
- 17:52Speaker 6: especially old Hollywood, that I feel bad about. As much
- 17:55Speaker 6: as I love old Hollywood stuff, there's still... tons of
- 17:58Speaker 6: stuff that i just haven't touched it's just i've scratched
- 18:02Speaker 6: the surface on the more popular things that i've seen
- 18:04Speaker 6: but there's just tons of stuff that right yeah so
- 18:08Speaker 6: i i try not to be that way for that
- 18:10Speaker 6: very reason because i'm just like i know there's plenty
- 18:12Speaker 6: of stuff i should have already seen and haven't there's
- 18:15Speaker 6: more movies.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I haven't seen than i definitely.
- 18:17Speaker 6: And you'll never be done that's that's kind of why
- 18:19Speaker 6: i like the movie geek thing you're never done you
- 18:22Speaker 6: can watch movies every day of your life you're never
- 18:24Speaker 6: going to get through them all there's just too many
- 18:26Speaker 6: They're constantly cranking out new ones.
- 18:28Speaker 1: There's too many old ones you'll never track down.
- 18:30Speaker 4: You're never done.
- 18:30Speaker 6: So, yeah, I try not to get that way for
- 18:34Speaker 6: that reason.
- 18:35Speaker 3: But go watch the thing or re-watch it, especially if
- 18:38Speaker 3: you haven't. I mean, I feel like Netflix should sponsor us.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I talk with them so much.
- 18:43Speaker 3: But, yeah, I was so tickled to run across that
- 18:47Speaker 3: on my queue.
- 18:48Speaker 1: So what was her final take? Did she watch it
- 18:51Speaker 1: sort of.
- 18:52Speaker 4: In its entirety?
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it was pretty late when I started it, and
- 18:57Speaker 3: she's not one for gore. She'll take violence, you know,
- 19:00Speaker 3: Reservoir Dogs, that's not going to bother her.
- 19:02Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:04Speaker 6: That's always a fine line for me. And again, maybe
- 19:07Speaker 6: because I watch too much of it, I don't even
- 19:08Speaker 6: think I... I hardly even notice violence anymore. I'm so
- 19:12Speaker 6: numb to it because I watch nothing but horror movies.
- 19:16Speaker 3: That's the funny thing is on my suggestions list is
- 19:19Speaker 3: the only thing that will come up is kids' movies, documentaries,
- 19:24Speaker 3: and gritty, violent dramas or gritty, violent horror.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Everything is gritty and violent.
- 19:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 6: I get those too.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And I'm like, am I that bad? You know, am
- 19:37Speaker 1: I that, they're everything. I'm like, I like comedies too,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but everything has to have some violence.
- 19:45Speaker 6: Gritty violence to it.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And I never, you know, I guess that's what I like.
- 19:49Speaker 6: I don't suppose i don't argue with netflix i don't
- 19:52Speaker 6: try to but that's what comes up i suppose.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It knows you better than you know yourself i guess
- 19:57Speaker 1: so is that it for you yeah i did i
- 19:59Speaker 1: did i've never gotten to watch other than a few
- 20:02Speaker 1: random episodes um arrested development yeah And so I've watched
- 20:07Speaker 1: a few of those this past week, and I've been
- 20:11Speaker 1: having a good time with that. It's another one of
- 20:14Speaker 1: those that was almost too good for normal television.
- 20:17Speaker 6: And that's probably why it was almost getting canceled for
- 20:19Speaker 6: like three years straight.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I can't believe it made it three years.
- 20:23Speaker 6: I think, if I'm not mistaken, it got three seasons out,
- 20:25Speaker 6: but it barely, like from season one. barely eeked its
- 20:29Speaker 6: way out to the next season two more times.
- 20:31Speaker 1: David Cross is hilarious.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He always makes me laugh no matter what he does.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And, you know, Jason Bateman is such a putz, but
- 20:39Speaker 1: he's good. He's so likable. And they cast him in
- 20:42Speaker 1: that perfect role.
- 20:43Speaker 6: It's like this guy has to be likable or you're
- 20:46Speaker 6: going to completely write him off. You're like, why are
- 20:48Speaker 6: you dealing with these crazy people? Just move away.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Take your kid and get the hell away from him.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But you have to like him.
- 20:56Speaker 6: Yeah, the whole show kind of hangs on that.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Not to go too long into Geekly, but that was
- 21:01Speaker 3: a fun one to delve deeper into.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's worth watching.
- 21:05Speaker 6: And I was hit and miss.
- 21:07Speaker 1: It's like, again, and maybe that's why it didn't last
- 21:10Speaker 1: as long.
- 21:11Speaker 6: I don't think I started, and I think after it
- 21:13Speaker 6: got all the attention, I tried to watch it because
- 21:15Speaker 6: I liked the whole cast. I mean, Portia de.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Rossi is awesome on that.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Another reason I wish she would turn up in more
- 21:20Speaker 6: stuff because she's so good in that. So, I mean,
- 21:22Speaker 6: there's all these other people in the cast that are amazing,
- 21:26Speaker 6: and it's like it took even me a while to
- 21:28Speaker 6: get to it.
- 21:29Speaker 1: So, I mean, TV shows just don't have.
- 21:31Speaker 6: A shot anymore. Unless you make huge numbers.
- 21:35Speaker 1: That first week, you know, you're lucky to make it
- 21:37Speaker 1: to the end of a season, so... Meanwhile, they're begging
- 21:39Speaker 1: to put more two-and-a-half men out. Oh, God.
- 21:43Speaker 4: They really are.
- 21:43Speaker 6: It's so sad.
- 21:46Speaker 1: It's so... I can't... I couldn't watch John Cryer for
- 21:49Speaker 1: five minutes.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I barely liked him. I.
- 21:53Speaker 6: There are a few movies I can even tolerate him
- 21:56Speaker 6: in from like the 80s when he was quote unquote likable. Right.
- 22:00Speaker 1: He, I mean, has anybody liked him since then?
- 22:03Speaker 4: I guess.
- 22:04Speaker 6: People still watch that show. I mean, it's the number
- 22:05Speaker 6: one ranked show in this country, which makes me sad.
- 22:09Speaker 6: So I just wonder who the hell these people are
- 22:12Speaker 6: and what they see. In him, in Charlie Sheen, in
- 22:15Speaker 6: that show.
- 22:16Speaker 1: In that kid. The kid's part of the show.
- 22:20Speaker 6: The whole thing is just an atrocity.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I don't know why it is continued on.
- 22:26Speaker 6: People love it.
- 22:27Speaker 1: People are begging it for it.
- 22:28Speaker 9: I know.
- 22:29Speaker 6: I don't get it.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:31Speaker 6: All right.
- 22:32Speaker 1: So we'll escape from that. Now, we were just originally
- 22:35Speaker 1: going to roll into today's movie. But as I... When.
- 22:40Speaker 6: I suggested watching this today, he was like, oh, yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 6: I need to watch that little Red Riding Hood thing
- 22:44Speaker 6: you guys were talking about. I was like, well, I
- 22:47Speaker 6: can set you up with that.
- 22:48Speaker 5: So.
- 22:49Speaker 6: It has now gotten so much attention around the Meltdown
- 22:52Speaker 6: compound here. The rest of the kids are going to
- 22:54Speaker 6: have to see it one by one.
- 22:55Speaker 1: The 42-meter movie Meltdown compound.
- 22:57Speaker 6: With gun towers and sniper rifles.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Protected against all the people we pissed off.
- 23:05Speaker 6: Attack dogs, you know. So, yeah, I was like, so
- 23:09Speaker 6: I'm thinking eventually everybody's going to have to watch it.
- 23:11Speaker 6: But today, you know, we've got you here. So I
- 23:14Speaker 6: think we're going to do a little, a miniature break here.
- 23:17Speaker 6: and come back with your reaction to this, the, the
- 23:20Speaker 6: Christina Ricci short film, little red riding hood. It's a
- 23:24Speaker 6: little bonus for this episode. We're going to get what
- 23:26Speaker 6: Greg thinks about it and then roll.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Into the full movie.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So we will be back shortly with his, um, thoughts
- 23:34Speaker 1: on that one.
- 23:34Speaker 10: Okay.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You come around here.
- 23:38Speaker 11: Shall we make your demands? With your own two hands, well,
- 23:55Speaker 11: tell me now, what are you.
- 24:04Speaker 6: Trying to do?
- 24:05Speaker 1: We are about to witness the takeoff of the first
- 24:07Speaker 1: manned rocket to outer space.
- 24:09Speaker 4: We pick up the count. Seven, six, five, four, three, two.
- 24:12Speaker 10: One, zero.
- 24:14Speaker 12: We're off to visit the planet that has reached the
- 24:16Speaker 12: Lord of the Stars.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Venus is loaded with candy.
- 24:18Speaker 8: Woo!
- 24:21Speaker 12: And I've seen the promise on Mars, to show the
- 24:23Speaker 12: fun fears among Saturn, when you're thirsty and sure it's
- 24:26Speaker 12: a spot. And Jupiter's really jumping, so pop on this
- 24:30Speaker 12: waterman's box, but the.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Best of them all are the planets, where all of
- 24:33Speaker 4: these dreams.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Are at hand.
- 24:35Speaker 12: And that is the spot we all head for, our
- 24:37Speaker 12: theater refreshment plan.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Hello, this is Peter Mayhew, listening to Movie Mountain.
- 24:56Speaker 10: Down.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Once there was a girl who went to take some
- 25:05Speaker 1: bread and milk to her granny.
- 25:07Speaker 6: That was it?
- 25:09Speaker 1: That was it.
- 25:14Speaker 6: All right, we're back for our little bonus sofa theater
- 25:18Speaker 6: feature here, right? You know, sometimes they run a short
- 25:22Speaker 6: film before the main feature, and that's what we have
- 25:25Speaker 6: just done. Again, we are talking about the Little Red
- 25:29Speaker 6: Riding Hood short film, directed by, I believe, David Kaplan
- 25:35Speaker 6: is who I'm going to blame for this, and yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 6: stars Christina Ricci. I'm trying not to go into it
- 25:41Speaker 6: because I gave you a full.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Rundown of my thoughts last week. So, yeah, Greg, you
- 25:48Speaker 1: have not seen it.
- 25:49Speaker 6: What was your take on this?
- 25:53Speaker 1: It was a joke that Mr.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Kaplan played on whoever watched it, is what it is.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It's nothing like any Red Riding Hood story I've ever seen.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Nope. I think it might be a must-watch.
- 26:12Speaker 6: Kind of. I wish we got some sort of kickbacks
- 26:16Speaker 6: from iTunes because it's available there, but I don't feel
- 26:20Speaker 6: comfortable telling people to spend anywhere from $ 3 to.
- 26:24Speaker 10: $ 5 to watch this.
- 26:25Speaker 6: But in a way, I feel like everybody needs to
- 26:28Speaker 6: see it, so I'm torn, really.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I can't believe they're charging $ 3.
- 26:34Speaker 1: That's just to view it. I think if you want
- 26:36Speaker 1: to download it, $ 4.
- 26:36Speaker 7: 99.
- 26:36Speaker 6: So that's the bargain because you're going to want to
- 26:39Speaker 6: show this to other people.
- 26:40Speaker 1: You're going to want to show it to your friends.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I And you got into it last week, I guess. Yeah, well,
- 26:47Speaker 1: once again, throw out the spoiler alert for this.
- 26:49Speaker 6: Go see it if you haven't seen it because it
- 26:52Speaker 6: needs to be seen.
- 26:53Speaker 1: It's ridiculous. I'm not going to say it's good, but.
- 26:56Speaker 6: For our purposes, it kind of needs to be seen because, again, we've.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Built it up quite a bit on this show. Oh, wow.
- 27:06Speaker 3: You know, I thought it was bad when I saw
- 27:09Speaker 3: the wolf in leotard.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Frolicking. Is frolicking the right word for that?
- 27:17Speaker 6: I won't argue that.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I think I used something else last week, but frolicking
- 27:21Speaker 1: will work.
- 27:23Speaker 3: It's definitely interpretive dance. I don't know what he'd be interpreting.
- 27:28Speaker 1: He is a.
- 27:32Speaker 6: Like super high end ballet dancer in the real world.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Obviously. I mean, it was over my head, whatever it was.
- 27:40Speaker 3: And, and I know he's got talent, but good Lord, um,
- 27:47Speaker 3: that was just a waste.
- 27:51Speaker 1: And I said, man, I will try not to repeat myself. Um,
- 27:55Speaker 1: I liked what they were doing visually with Grandma's house
- 27:58Speaker 1: and everything. That was kind of neat. Throwing it off,
- 28:01Speaker 1: making it different.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Christina Ricci, as creepy as it is, I can look
- 28:06Speaker 3: at her, and even if it's teasingly undressing, that's okay.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Which, once again, that's his fault.
- 28:13Speaker 6: It's not like he's.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Not knowingly doing this.
- 28:18Speaker 6: He knows how old she is. He's asking her to
- 28:21Speaker 6: undress for the camera. I mean, it's Even if he
- 28:24Speaker 6: doesn't show it to you, he's playing on that. He
- 28:27Speaker 6: knows that you are sitting there looking at her like that.
- 28:30Speaker 1: You're still thinking that even though you're, God, stop it.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Besides, we've all seen Black Snake move.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember.
- 28:39Speaker 6: So, yeah, it's not like, which we decided before, doesn't
- 28:42Speaker 6: that totally make it okay?
- 28:44Speaker 1: Because now she's 18. Now she's older. Now she's well
- 28:48Speaker 1: over 18. So it makes it totally fine to look
- 28:50Speaker 1: at her at any point ever before.
- 28:52Speaker 6: Wait, I shouldn't have had those thoughts about Casper, then
- 28:54Speaker 6: should I?
- 28:55Speaker 13: No.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Either way, go on with what you were saying.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Yeah, the conversation in the bed, the path that it
- 29:06Speaker 1: goes down. Well, actually, before then, the cat calling her
- 29:10Speaker 1: a slut. That's just a glimpse into the window of
- 29:14Speaker 1: where we're going. Right.
- 29:15Speaker 6: The road we're going.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And that's funny.
- 29:18Speaker 3: The cat's very cartoonish in the way it's puppeteered.
- 29:22Speaker 6: And the fact that it's a game puppet.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And the fact that it's a puppet. They didn't even
- 29:26Speaker 1: need that.
- 29:27Speaker 14: No.
- 29:27Speaker 1: They could have just put a cat in there. I mean,
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's narrated. It's not like he's actually needing to say it.
- 29:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 1: No one else is, you know, it's all narrated.
- 29:36Speaker 3: No one else even moves their lips in the movie.
- 29:39Speaker 10: Exactly.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Have very easily just been a cat. Why he chose
- 29:42Speaker 1: to make it a weird puppet.
- 29:43Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Right.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Um, yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 3: And then the conversation in bed after the, what big
- 29:51Speaker 3: mouth you have, then they go down a road that
- 29:55Speaker 3: I was.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Not prepared for. Um, and uh yeah it just you
- 30:02Speaker 1: know the the wolf is not only a frolicking ballet
- 30:06Speaker 1: dancer and grandma killer and pedophile but then likes it
- 30:14Speaker 1: that way you know that's that's pretty that's pretty that's
- 30:17Speaker 1: some pretty sick stuff that we're dealing with i've not
- 30:19Speaker 1: seen that on the internet yet you know and there's.
- 30:22Speaker 6: A lot of weird stuff on the internet but you
- 30:24Speaker 6: know what this kind of Because at least those you
- 30:27Speaker 6: know what you're getting yourself into. This one, I sat
- 30:29Speaker 6: down with a very different thing in my head of
- 30:33Speaker 6: where I thought we were going than where it ended up.
- 30:35Speaker 1: And then after that, it just kind of pitters off.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It's like, that's the climax of the movie.
- 30:42Speaker 6: It is.
- 30:42Speaker 1: It's the sad part.
- 30:43Speaker 6: I don't understand what they were doing.
- 30:49Speaker 3: And what's the very end, the little, was that supposed
- 30:52Speaker 3: to be a nail or a wolf's nail or was
- 30:56Speaker 3: that a hook? What was she was dragging across her face?
- 30:59Speaker 6: I thought it was just a shot from earlier. I
- 31:01Speaker 6: thought it was that shot of his nail when they
- 31:03Speaker 6: were still in bed. I thought it was just them
- 31:05Speaker 6: inserting that after the fact. Or maybe they were getting
- 31:09Speaker 6: it on and we just didn't see that.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I don't see it. Did she just want to go
- 31:12Speaker 1: to her house?
- 31:14Speaker 6: Because she was being very alluring to him, even after
- 31:17Speaker 6: the fact. Even when she knew it was a wolf there,
- 31:20Speaker 6: that little scene. She waited for him. She threw the
- 31:23Speaker 6: fruit to get his attention. She stayed just out of
- 31:25Speaker 6: reach the whole time.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 31:29Speaker 6: Again, what are we saying with what's going on in this?
- 31:32Speaker 6: Because it's creepy whatever it is.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Pedophiles can blame... their problems on The Little Girls. On
- 31:39Speaker 1: Fairy Tales.
- 31:42Speaker 6: I learned all my creepy behavior from Fairy Tales.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I can't watch Little Red Riding Hood the same anymore
- 31:49Speaker 1: after that one. It's tainted. It's tainted, yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 6: In so many ways.
- 31:58Speaker 1: And just the word usage for what they're saying. Yeah,
- 32:01Speaker 1: thank you. That was when we became screaming at the monitors.
- 32:07Speaker 6: What?
- 32:08Speaker 1: What? And I couldn't stay composed for the rest of it. No,
- 32:14Speaker 1: and I couldn't blame you.
- 32:15Speaker 6: I was trying to shut up and just sit there
- 32:17Speaker 6: because I knew it was coming.
- 32:20Speaker 1: It's a joke. It's a gag that they pulled on someone,
- 32:24Speaker 1: and that's all there is to it.
- 32:27Speaker 6: All right, we can leave it at that. That was
- 32:29Speaker 6: your sofa theater bonus feature there. So, yeah, now we're
- 32:33Speaker 6: going to actually go and watch– This week's Sofa Theater feature,
- 32:36Speaker 6: Alien Intruder. Which also sounds like a bad porn title.
- 32:40Speaker 6: That's what you said earlier. Alright, I think we see
- 32:45Speaker 6: our theme for this week.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Good lord.
- 33:17Speaker 10: Who's the baddest dude in the galaxy who's slicker than
- 33:21Speaker 10: superfly enjoy the casino cooler than captain kirk i'm.
- 33:25Speaker 6: Lando calrissian i'm the owner of this found establishment and
- 33:29Speaker 6: who might you be.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Cut the charm, Lando.
- 33:32Speaker 10: The Black Star Warrior. That's who.
- 33:38Speaker 5: Gambler.
- 33:39Speaker 10: Smuggler. Scoundrel.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I hate you.
- 33:43Speaker 10: Running his cons right under the nose of the Galactic Empire.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I've got the cargo. I've got the connections. You. You've
- 33:51Speaker 1: got the ship. Doing business with you is nothing but trouble.
- 33:54Speaker 1: The Empire would be all over me like stink on
- 33:56Speaker 1: a Wookiee. No offense. Trust me. With all due respect,
- 34:01Speaker 1: I don't think you realize who you're dealing with.
- 34:02Speaker 4: He's just one man, Lieutenant.
- 34:04Speaker 1: You give him way too much credit. No, gentlemen. He
- 34:09Speaker 1: is dangerous.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Calrissian must be destroyed.
- 34:14Speaker 10: But when the man tries to shut him down.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Next time you hire a pilot to move cargo for you,
- 34:21Speaker 6: make sure and hire one that won't dump it at
- 34:23Speaker 6: the first sign of an Imperial cruiser.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Landau Calrissian? are under arrest.
- 34:29Speaker 1: What charge?
- 34:29Speaker 5: Think of something.
- 34:31Speaker 10: Lando shuts the man up.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Think about this.
- 34:34Speaker 12: Don't be a fool, television!
- 34:42Speaker 10: And he brings trouble right to their front door.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I got a really bad feeling about this.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Don't worry. Works every time. This is nuts, Lando. We're
- 34:52Speaker 4: never gonna get out of here alive. Blast him!
- 34:55Speaker 1: That's not gonna work. I thought he said this works
- 34:57Speaker 1: every time.
- 34:58Speaker 10: Get back to the ship.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I got this.
- 35:00Speaker 10: Get between this brother and his woman, and space ain't
- 35:03Speaker 10: black enough to hide from him.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Vader.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Ah, Mr.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Calrissian.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Won't you join us? Oh, mama.
- 35:13Speaker 10: You got a lot of beautiful girls here, Vader. How
- 35:16Speaker 10: about I take that one off your hands?
- 35:23Speaker 1: I'll deal with you soon, Calrissian.
- 35:26Speaker 10: The Black Star Warrior. If you want to see him,
- 35:30Speaker 10: ask your mama.
- 35:36Speaker 15: Are you still looking for that special someone? Have other
- 35:39Speaker 15: dating websites let you down? Hi, I'm Craig Fritz Rualdo.

- 36:11Speaker 4: In the deepest regions of uncharted space.
- 36:15Speaker 9: There exists a danger more lethal than any being known
- 36:20Speaker 9: on Earth.
- 36:23Speaker 4: It turns man against man.
- 36:32Speaker 9: It terminates without conscience.
- 36:40Speaker 4: No remorse worse than a machine. Its name, Ariel. Wait
- 36:45Speaker 4: a minute, remember the first time we all saw it?
- 36:47Speaker 4: For God's sake, man, don't you remember what we all said?
- 36:49Speaker 1: That's my fiancée you're talking about.
- 36:51Speaker 4: We're looking for a few good men. Four convicts were
- 36:55Speaker 4: selected for our rescue mission.
- 36:58Speaker 10: Mancuso, Nick.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Navigator, first class.
- 37:00Speaker 4: What's he in for? Mutiny. Peter McClellan, engineer, first grade.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Wiped out an entire family on the Autobahn. Demolitions expert.
- 37:11Speaker 12: Blew an armored car, five dead.
- 37:13Speaker 4: What kind of time are you doing, DJ? Life.
- 37:16Speaker 10: Without parole.
- 37:16Speaker 4: A real computer jock. He's as good as they get.
- 37:20Speaker 4: There's a freighter running dark. We're going to go up there.
- 37:23Speaker 16: Hook her up until we're home.
- 37:26Speaker 4: There's one more thing. The Aphrodite program. He's talking about
- 37:30Speaker 4: virtual reality.
- 37:31Speaker 16: Friday nights at 5 o'clock, you all have the weekend off.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Our own private programs. You choose your woman, your fantasy.
- 37:40Speaker 9: But once underway, the crew has a close encounter with
- 37:43Speaker 9: a creature beyond their worst nightmares. Commander Skyler is interested
- 37:52Speaker 9: in more than just the mission. And virtual reality is
- 37:57Speaker 9: no longer harmless fun.
- 38:01Speaker 13: It ain't supposed to happen this way.
- 38:07Speaker 8: Ghosts of prairie dogs tell me to turn around. I'm
- 38:13Speaker 8: an intruder and I don't belong here. Anytime I drive anywhere,
- 38:36Speaker 8: There's something still down there waiting to come out.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
- 38:50Speaker 6: All right, we are back with this week's real, well,
- 38:55Speaker 6: I don't know, that's arguable. The second of this week's
- 39:00Speaker 6: Sofa Theater Feature.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 39:02Speaker 6: The full-length feature uh i guess you want to call
- 39:06Speaker 6: it that version.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Oh this was grueling you gotta sigh yeah you have
- 39:13Speaker 1: to sigh just to say the name of.
- 39:15Speaker 6: The movie oh yeah kind of this week's silver theater
- 39:20Speaker 6: feature is alien intruder the year yeah go ahead laugh at.
- 39:27Speaker 7: It.
- 39:27Speaker 6: The year is 1993. The director is Ricardo Jacques Gale.
- 39:32Speaker 10: Gale. I don't know.
- 39:34Speaker 6: However you want to pronounce this. Ricardo Jacques Gale. Okay.
- 39:40Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Sounds good to me.
- 39:42Speaker 6: Yeah. The plot, if you.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Want to go.
- 39:45Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I want to hear this.
- 39:47Speaker 6: It's There's not much to it. According to IMDb, space-traveling
- 39:51Speaker 6: convicts become the victims of their own fantasies when virtual
- 39:55Speaker 6: reality is made to go wrong. Made to go wrong?
- 40:00Speaker 1: Made to go wrong?
- 40:02Speaker 6: Okay.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I love IMDb.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Right.
- 40:04Speaker 1: They don't watch these movies.
- 40:08Speaker 4: No, I don't think.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Or they let just any idiot write it that was
- 40:12Speaker 6: sucker enough.
- 40:13Speaker 1: To have watched this.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Oh, wait, that was it.
- 40:16Speaker 17: Spoiler alert! We don't want to ruin this for you.
- 40:24Speaker 17: But before we even get to our version, it's time for.
- 40:30Speaker 6: And this story, I have to say, is probably one
- 40:34Speaker 6: of my favorite ones from the Waltz story. Mostly because
- 40:37Speaker 6: it has nothing to do with the movie.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Fantastic.
- 40:41Speaker 6: So yeah, we will hear what Billy Dee thought of
- 40:44Speaker 6: making Alien and Trudy.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Alien and Trudy, what was that? There was another low budget.
- 40:53Speaker 18: All I remember about that whole situation, if that's the
- 40:56Speaker 18: one I'm thinking about, was every morning going out to
- 41:01Speaker 18: Long Beach, I think it was Long Beach, and We
- 41:04Speaker 18: were using a warehouse out there, but every day you
- 41:06Speaker 18: had to pass a pig factory, but it was a
- 41:09Speaker 18: slaughter factory.
- 41:11Speaker 4: And I remember.
- 41:13Speaker 2: The stench was like horrific. But I remember one morning
- 41:18Speaker 2: I got up and I said, when they bring those
- 41:21Speaker 2: poor little pigs in the truck, I'm going to jump
- 41:24Speaker 2: out and.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Unlatch the gates and let them all free. That would
- 41:31Speaker 4: have been interesting on the news.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Billy Dee Williams, let's lose an entire group of people.
- 41:37Speaker 6: It has no bearing on the movie. I will say, though, yeah,
- 41:41Speaker 6: if nothing else, it has an odd tie-in to our
- 41:44Speaker 6: recent Oscar Mayer party. So, you know, there you go.
- 41:47Speaker 10: Oh, wow.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Well, that's, yeah, you got to love Billy Dee Williams.
- 41:53Speaker 6: Just for that story alone, you got.
- 41:55Speaker 1: To love Billy Dee, so.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Alright, Alien Intruder. Alien Intruder. Where would you like to begin?
- 42:04Speaker 3: I think start with 1993. I had to look it
- 42:08Speaker 3: up while we were watching it because I wasn't sure when... And,
- 42:11Speaker 3: you know, now that I think about it, that was
- 42:14Speaker 3: like that era of like that Silk Stalkings.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. That's kind of what this was like.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Okay, give me Silk Stalkings and Quantum Leap a little
- 42:25Speaker 3: bit so you get all the stories.
- 42:27Speaker 4: I know.
- 42:29Speaker 13: And.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I think you hit it right there, though.
- 42:32Speaker 6: I mean, I think somebody sat in a meeting and
- 42:35Speaker 6: the pitch was, okay.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Silk Stalkings, In space.
- 42:38Speaker 3: In space.
- 42:39Speaker 1: And that's all they had to say.
- 42:40Speaker 6: And some idiot went, all right, make it. Here's $ 14.
- 42:45Speaker 6: Now go make it.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I mean, it was like four sets.
- 42:49Speaker 1: There was like the factory, the hallway, the bridge. And
- 42:55Speaker 1: the sleeping chambers. And that was it. That was it.
- 42:58Speaker 3: And they kept shooting it from every different... Even the
- 43:01Speaker 3: other ships. The other ship was the exact same warehouse.
- 43:06Speaker 6: It wasn't a warehouse. It was a spaceship.
- 43:10Speaker 1: It was a warehouse that was like... Why do you
- 43:13Speaker 1: need a warehouse like this of all this empty space?
- 43:15Speaker 1: You know, space should be tight and cramped and there's
- 43:18Speaker 1: no room, you know.
- 43:19Speaker 4: No.
- 43:20Speaker 2: No.
- 43:20Speaker 6: No warehouses in space. That's what we need.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Oh, it was. And, you know, okay. I'm going to
- 43:28Speaker 1: stop here and be serious about talking about film.
- 43:31Speaker 6: For a minute.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 43:32Speaker 6: Then we're not talking about this movie anymore.
- 43:34Speaker 13: Right.
- 43:36Speaker 1: There were parts of it that weren't horrible. Now, the script...
- 43:43Speaker 1: The script is really bad.
- 43:45Speaker 3: It was the 12-year-old kid watching Silk Stalkings in.
- 43:50Speaker 1: His room late at night.
- 43:52Speaker 6: Bad.
- 43:53Speaker 1: You know, and actually, yeah, that's about right.
- 43:57Speaker 6: Because, yeah, some of the lines that we noted... I
- 44:00Speaker 6: can only see that.
- 44:04Speaker 6: From a 12 year old going that would be so awesome.
- 44:08Speaker 14: It's like we were firing guns back and forth and
- 44:14Speaker 14: you said let's dance and my retort would be dance
- 44:18Speaker 14: on this and then I'd shoot you with a laser.
- 44:23Speaker 1: A blue laser.
- 44:24Speaker 3: You've only got a gun but I've got a laser.
- 44:28Speaker 1: That's a whole other thing.
- 44:30Speaker 6: When you enter into any of these science fiction movies
- 44:33Speaker 6: there's sort of that immediate okay what's the technology we're
- 44:37Speaker 6: dealing with you know and most of the time it's
- 44:39Speaker 6: super space lasers but then sometimes it's sort of retro
- 44:42Speaker 6: you get like aliens and they're just firing you know
- 44:45Speaker 6: normal machine guns and so once again you just have
- 44:48Speaker 6: to kind of put everything in perspective but then right
- 44:50Speaker 6: off the bat here it's like guns lasers it's like
- 44:54Speaker 6: shotguns yeah it's just A mixture of stuff that there's
- 44:58Speaker 6: no real explanation why this guy's got one, this guy's
- 45:01Speaker 6: got another, why they both exist in this little world.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 45:05Speaker 6: Why would you be carrying around a regular gun if
- 45:07Speaker 6: you've got lasers at your disposal? I mean, it doesn't...
- 45:11Speaker 6: Not only does it not make sense, but at the
- 45:13Speaker 6: same time, it doesn't explain why there's.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Some reason to force it to make sense.
- 45:17Speaker 19: Yeah, it.
- 45:19Speaker 6: The science, if you want to call it what they have,
- 45:22Speaker 6: is science.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Right.
- 45:23Speaker 6: Is, yeah, in question almost every step of the way
- 45:26Speaker 6: in this.
- 45:26Speaker 10: Right.
- 45:27Speaker 3: There is no feeling, the interior scene, well, the whole
- 45:31Speaker 3: thing is essentially interior scenes when they're on the ship.
- 45:35Speaker 3: There is no feeling, there's no, every movie has some
- 45:38Speaker 3: kind of, you have to deal with, you're in space.
- 45:42Speaker 3: You know, that's part of the canon. That's part of
- 45:47Speaker 3: something you have to do with a space project. none
- 45:49Speaker 3: of that's in here. No, there's no weird, there's anti-gravity.
- 45:54Speaker 3: There's no, none of that. There's, you know, there's Coke
- 45:56Speaker 3: cans and bottled water, just, just sitting out. Like I said,
- 46:01Speaker 3: there's just this open, plenty of open space that if
- 46:05Speaker 3: you were trying to save money and build a ship,
- 46:07Speaker 3: you would never have that much open space on a spaceship. And,
- 46:12Speaker 3: And apparently they run on steam power. Did you notice that?
- 46:16Speaker 1: They were fixing steam lines with PVC.
- 46:23Speaker 6: That was my favorite.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I was looking around and it was nothing but PVC pipe.
- 46:28Speaker 6: I'm like, wow, they couldn't even borrow somebody's boiler room
- 46:32Speaker 6: with real metal piping. They had PVC pipe everywhere.
- 46:36Speaker 1: It's just pitiful. Yeah, they didn't have any money for
- 46:40Speaker 1: the sets.
- 46:41Speaker 5: No, no.
- 46:41Speaker 3: They rented out a couple of warehouses and just shot.
- 46:45Speaker 10: It in there.
- 46:45Speaker 6: And the thing is, I don't fault people for that.
- 46:49Speaker 1: It's like, you know what?
- 46:50Speaker 6: I don't have any money either. But I think this
- 46:53Speaker 6: is the thing. I mean, there's a lot of people
- 46:55Speaker 6: out there shooting movies on shoestring budgets. The thing is,
- 46:58Speaker 6: you've got to realize what you're dealing with going in.
- 47:02Speaker 6: It's like, if you don't have that much money... Don't
- 47:04Speaker 6: set your story in space.
- 47:06Speaker 10: Right, right.
- 47:07Speaker 6: I mean, you learn from, you know, anybody along the way.
- 47:10Speaker 6: It's like you look at something like clerks. You know,
- 47:13Speaker 6: it's like that guy had no money. That guy went,
- 47:16Speaker 6: where am I at all day long? This stupid convenience store. Hey,
- 47:19Speaker 6: I'll just bring the camera in here at night and
- 47:21Speaker 6: shoot a movie here. Right. It feels real.
- 47:23Speaker 1: You know why? It's a real convenience store.
- 47:25Speaker 6: You know, it's like you look at something like that.
- 47:28Speaker 6: And there's plenty of other examples like that. But it's
- 47:30Speaker 6: just people who understand their limitations. budget-wise, you know, sets-wise, surroundings, actors.
- 47:38Speaker 6: It's like you've got to take all this stuff into
- 47:39Speaker 6: account when you're making this movie. You can write whatever.
- 47:43Speaker 6: If you're writing a novel, you can write whatever the
- 47:45Speaker 6: hell you want because you don't have to make it
- 47:48Speaker 6: take physical form in front of you. But a movie,
- 47:51Speaker 6: you need to understand your limitations going in.
- 47:55Speaker 1: And I don't know why, especially in this price range.
- 47:59Speaker 6: We hit this... And it may have been this time,
- 48:02Speaker 6: but I say that, but there's always been bad versions
- 48:05Speaker 6: of low-budget movies like this that they just don't understand that.
- 48:09Speaker 1: But they could have low-budgeted it enough.
- 48:13Speaker 6: Yeah, a better way.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Even with the story. Okay, let's say, hey, we've got
- 48:17Speaker 3: the story. Because the basic idea for the story, even
- 48:21Speaker 3: though it was muddy trying to figure out what it was,
- 48:24Speaker 3: that this.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Whatever it is, is infiltrating and taking over these guys'
- 48:34Speaker 1: fantasies and getting them to basically turn the ship over.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I guess that's what they're trying to do.
- 48:40Speaker 6: Kind of.
- 48:41Speaker 1: It doesn't really work out that way. I know. Is
- 48:44Speaker 1: she blowing it up? Is she... She's trying to take
- 48:47Speaker 1: out all of our fleet one ship at a time.
- 48:50Speaker 1: One ship at a time?
- 48:51Speaker 3: Yeah, four months apart or whatever. So it's a little...
- 48:55Speaker 3: But that, again... The idea that she's getting into our fantasies. Basically,
- 49:01Speaker 3: I'm sure someone was watching Next Generation and saying, what
- 49:05Speaker 3: happens if the holodeck is taken over by an alien intruder? Basically,
- 49:10Speaker 3: that's what you've got here. Basically. Basically. So that'll– you know,
- 49:17Speaker 3: the actual fantasy scenes were done pretty well.
- 49:20Speaker 6: They were better than these– again, if you look at
- 49:24Speaker 6: all of those, like, the sets that they work in
- 49:27Speaker 6: and– I mean– The.
- 49:30Speaker 1: 50s one, the Western one. The Western one was okay. Casablanca.
- 49:36Speaker 6: Casablanca, I don't know. Some of that office, the interior
- 49:39Speaker 6: on that office looked very set, like very cheaply built set.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But it was still better than the spaceship.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Better than the spaceship, I'll give you that.
- 49:48Speaker 3: And it was better than the Alcatraz 2 set, or
- 49:50Speaker 3: the new Alcatraz business set.
- 49:53Speaker 6: Yeah, once again, and this was just writing-wise, in any
- 49:57Speaker 6: futuristic story, I love when everything can be made futuristic.
- 50:00Speaker 1: By making it new or space. Right. That became the
- 50:07Speaker 1: joke for me the whole way. It'll be a piece
- 50:09Speaker 1: of space cake.
- 50:11Speaker 6: Once again, we're not joking. That's a line from the movie.
- 50:15Speaker 6: It'll be a piece of space cake. God, I wish
- 50:20Speaker 6: I was making that up. It'll be a piece of cake.
- 50:23Speaker 6: Space cake. Oh, God.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's that bad.
- 50:30Speaker 6: It's that bad.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Say goodbye, dickhead.
- 50:47Speaker 3: It's a 12-year-old that watched Silk Stalkings, that likes Star Wars,
- 50:52Speaker 3: and saw Next Generation with the holodeck and saw the movie.
- 50:57Speaker 1: And shot it himself with his lunch money.
- 51:00Speaker 6: With his Fisher-Price plastic camcorder that I had one of.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I need to dig that out and work that.
- 51:07Speaker 6: That was pretty impressive for a day, but doesn't mean
- 51:11Speaker 6: you need to shoot a feature film on it.
- 51:14Speaker 3: I have a major bone to pick about. I mean,
- 51:18Speaker 3: I know I'm jumping around and you might have some
- 51:20Speaker 3: better ideas.
- 51:21Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 51:22Speaker 6: I mean, that's the thing. When I thought about it afterwards,
- 51:26Speaker 6: I was just like, there's about a half an hour
- 51:28Speaker 6: worth of story here.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Like, this could have been an interesting episode on something, but.
- 51:33Speaker 6: Man, is it drug out. I mean, there's not really
- 51:36Speaker 6: that much to address in the overall plot. So, yeah,
- 51:39Speaker 6: go ahead and jump in wherever you want.
- 51:41Speaker 1: They have an android on the ship that they're taking
- 51:44Speaker 1: out to rescue in. And this guy stands around.
- 51:48Speaker 3: He's in maybe, what, six scenes or so?
- 51:53Speaker 6: My question is... He's an android? Right.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Did they really explain that ever?
- 51:58Speaker 6: I mean, they make the jokes as they come in,
- 52:02Speaker 6: but did they introduce him as that?
- 52:06Speaker 3: When they leave the dock and they're flying off into space,
- 52:10Speaker 3: the computer that says that some rescue ship is going
- 52:15Speaker 3: out and they give the little status updates. And they
- 52:17Speaker 3: say five humanoid or whatever and one android.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Or something like that.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Something along the line where she mentioned it, but it's
- 52:26Speaker 3: so fast.
- 52:27Speaker 1: That you can't get it.
- 52:28Speaker 6: And they don't associate that it's this weird guy. I mean,
- 52:32Speaker 6: once again, then they start making the jokes about, hey,
- 52:35Speaker 6: screw the trash compactor or whatever.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I mean, that stuff. And I was like, okay, I
- 52:38Speaker 1: guess this guy is some sort of robot.
- 52:40Speaker 6: Right. Again, it's like just bad character introduction slash development.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Right off the bat.
- 52:48Speaker 3: It doesn't speak. It doesn't involve itself in any way.
- 52:51Speaker 3: It doesn't affect the story in any way. It's just
- 52:55Speaker 3: another character that dies.
- 52:57Speaker 1: That's it.
- 52:58Speaker 6: Which is all they wanted, really.
- 53:00Speaker 3: That was kind of a good shot of it dead
- 53:03Speaker 3: with the thing protruding from its eye, whatever.
- 53:07Speaker 1: But that was it. I mean, there was no reason
- 53:09Speaker 1: to have that guy in that movie at all.
- 53:11Speaker 4: No, no.
- 53:12Speaker 6: He was probably, like, not even an actor. He was, like,
- 53:15Speaker 6: one of the lawyers that helped put this deal together.
- 53:17Speaker 1: They were like, look, we'll get you in the movie.
- 53:20Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm not very good at acting.
- 53:22Speaker 1: You won't even have to talk.
- 53:23Speaker 6: It's okay. You're a tall dude. We'll find something to.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Do with you. He literally stood there. I mean, it
- 53:29Speaker 1: didn't involve anything else other than that.
- 53:34Speaker 6: I want to address, and you specifically brought it up
- 53:37Speaker 6: right off the bat, so I will give you credit
- 53:40Speaker 6: for delivering the line, which was, if you can't afford
- 53:43Speaker 6: a good set, go with bad lighting. So that points
- 53:47Speaker 6: to you on that one, but the more I watched
- 53:50Speaker 6: after that, that's all I noticed is, oh my god,
- 53:53Speaker 6: you can't see anything in this.
- 53:57Speaker 1: And it didn't really distract me from the fact that
- 54:00Speaker 1: your sets are.
- 54:00Speaker 9: Terrible, but.
- 54:02Speaker 6: Really? And maybe this is just a really bad copy
- 54:06Speaker 6: we're looking at here. Maybe there's some master somewhere that
- 54:09Speaker 6: looks beautiful, but in some of these scenes, I'm just like,
- 54:13Speaker 6: these people are half-lit at best.
- 54:16Speaker 1: At best.
- 54:16Speaker 4: At best.
- 54:18Speaker 6: And even then, it's like you're lucky to figure out
- 54:20Speaker 6: what's going on and... That's why it's such a shock
- 54:24Speaker 6: to the system when they get to the old west.
- 54:26Speaker 6: And it's like it's outside.
- 54:27Speaker 1: And it's lit.
- 54:28Speaker 6: Right.
- 54:28Speaker 1: And it's like you can actually see.
- 54:30Speaker 6: So maybe that's why those feel so much better. Because
- 54:33Speaker 6: the 50s when it's outside almost entirely.
- 54:35Speaker 9: Right.
- 54:36Speaker 6: The west weren't.
- 54:37Speaker 1: I mean, they're all just like so much.
- 54:38Speaker 3: But you know when they're in the interior of his
- 54:40Speaker 3: fantasy on the beach, you can't see.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Anything going on in there. Yeah, it's back to being dark.
- 54:44Speaker 1: So they just didn't have a cinematographer whatsoever. They just...
- 54:48Speaker 1: Didn't have lighting, guys. I don't know.
- 54:50Speaker 6: But, yeah, there's just a major issue there with lighting that, again,
- 54:55Speaker 6: I don't know if there was just not a budget
- 54:57Speaker 6: for them to worry about it.
- 54:58Speaker 1: They were just, well, whatever. This is what we have.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Shoot it.
- 55:01Speaker 9: Right.
- 55:01Speaker 6: Or if really it was strategically planned, the set looks bad.
- 55:06Speaker 6: Let's keep the lighting low.
- 55:08Speaker 1: You know, it was very inconsistent lighting because sometimes it
- 55:12Speaker 1: was well lit and sometimes it wasn't. And that was
- 55:15Speaker 1: not a device of the camera. That was.
- 55:18Speaker 3: That person doesn't have a light meter. That's basically what
- 55:21Speaker 3: it was.
- 55:22Speaker 1: That person just does not know what they're doing. And
- 55:24Speaker 1: that's pretty early on.
- 55:26Speaker 6: I mean, you can work in a lot of pretty
- 55:28Speaker 6: low-end stuff and build your way up to that. I mean,
- 55:31Speaker 6: there's a lot of projects out there where you start
- 55:33Speaker 6: to learn that kind of stuff. And obviously, they do
- 55:36Speaker 6: not have that going. No.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Billy Dee. Do we want to talk about Billy Dee?
- 55:43Speaker 6: We can go into the actors individually. I will say
- 55:46Speaker 6: right now... that, that is the real crime in this
- 55:51Speaker 6: movie is I just, I feel so bad for Billy Dee.
- 55:53Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 55:54Speaker 6: Because he's a real actor. And even, I mean, of
- 55:57Speaker 6: what you're looking at here, he does what he can.
- 56:00Speaker 6: Like he, there's times when I'm like, that's delivered pretty good.
- 56:04Speaker 6: And that's, you know, he's, he's still like, he walks
- 56:06Speaker 6: in that first scene. I'm like, Matt, there's Billy Dee.
- 56:09Speaker 6: He's a badass already.
- 56:10Speaker 1: So I mean, though the writing is extremely clumsy.
- 56:14Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I don't care if it's, I don't care.
- 56:17Speaker 3: It, who it is, they're not going to be able
- 56:19Speaker 3: to deliver, deliver clumsy lines.
- 56:21Speaker 6: Well, I mean, and you just can't save it. Like
- 56:24Speaker 6: even if his delivery is awesome, when the person he's
- 56:27Speaker 6: up against is saying something, a stupid, right.
- 56:30Speaker 1: And B he's delivering it.
- 56:31Speaker 6: Not so great.
- 56:32Speaker 10: Right.
- 56:33Speaker 6: It's like, it just, it brings your performance down. Even
- 56:36Speaker 6: if you're doing a decent job, which I think again,
- 56:39Speaker 6: for this movie, he was doing, you know, top of
- 56:42Speaker 6: the line stuff, uh, But it doesn't matter because, I mean,
- 56:45Speaker 6: especially by the last half of the movie, he has
- 56:47Speaker 6: nothing to do. He just sits at a screen and
- 56:50Speaker 6: he sort of runs around a little bit at the
- 56:52Speaker 6: end there. But, I mean, there's a whole middle part
- 56:54Speaker 6: of the movie where he just has nothing to do
- 56:57Speaker 6: with the story. He just sits there.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah. He drinks. He drinks a lot, which.
- 57:02Speaker 6: We decided wasn't malt liquor.
- 57:04Speaker 13: No.
- 57:05Speaker 6: Then I said it was space malt liquor, so that
- 57:07Speaker 6: made it okay.
- 57:08Speaker 1: New space malt liquor. It's new space malt liquor. Was
- 57:11Speaker 1: he Schlitz? Is that who he.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Pitched for back in the day. Colt 45, that's right.
- 57:19Speaker 6: Ice cold, Colt 45.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Not back in the day, he's back on it again. Oh,
- 57:23Speaker 1: is he? A whole new ad campaign. I don't pay
- 57:26Speaker 1: attention to malt liquor, so sorry.
- 57:28Speaker 6: Actually, while we're on the subject, less than a block away,
- 57:32Speaker 6: right at the end of this street, there is a
- 57:34Speaker 6: weird little tiny neighborhood store, which feels like it's from
- 57:39Speaker 6: the 50s. I didn't even think they made these anymore,
- 57:41Speaker 6: but there's one down there that's closed half the time
- 57:44Speaker 6: anyway it's pointless that it exists other than the fact
- 57:47Speaker 6: that i walk by there every once in a while
- 57:49Speaker 6: and in the front window they have a.
- 57:53Speaker 1: A billy d.
- 57:54Speaker 6: Williams approved it says that like this location is billy
- 57:59Speaker 6: d williams approved it's a light up picture of him
- 58:02Speaker 6: holding a colt 45 and i i almost feel like
- 58:05Speaker 6: i need to go in there and just give them
- 58:07Speaker 6: a blank check Too bad they wouldn't get more than
- 58:09Speaker 6: about four bucks out of it. But I'm just like,
- 58:11Speaker 6: whatever it takes for me to get this light of
- 58:13Speaker 6: Billy Dee Williams, I think I need.
- 58:16Speaker 1: We might need a picture of that. Because this sign
- 58:19Speaker 1: is awesome.
- 58:21Speaker 6: So yeah, he again makes everything cooler. Even that weird
- 58:25Speaker 6: little store down the street, he makes cooler just by
- 58:28Speaker 6: his presence.
- 58:31Speaker 1: He couldn't save this movie. No, unfortunately.
- 58:33Speaker 6: No.
- 58:34Speaker 1: And even he kind of knows that.
- 58:36Speaker 6: I mean, if you're listening to him talk about it,
- 58:39Speaker 6: he's just like, oh, yeah. And in a way, I
- 58:43Speaker 6: like talking to people about that kind of stuff because,
- 58:46Speaker 6: I mean, it is one of those... I'm almost as
- 58:48Speaker 6: interested to hear what they have to say about the
- 58:50Speaker 6: bad movies as the good because, I mean, to me,
- 58:53Speaker 6: I just like hearing the stories. And when you talk
- 58:55Speaker 6: to normal people, you get that... I mean, you don't
- 58:58Speaker 6: always hear these, you know... Bright and shiny. I mean,
- 59:00Speaker 6: you go to normal media and all you get are
- 59:03Speaker 6: these fluff pieces that are just like, oh, we had
- 59:05Speaker 6: the best time making this movie and, you know, everybody
- 59:08Speaker 6: got along wonderful. and I kind of like it better
- 59:11Speaker 6: when actors are just like oh I want to forget
- 59:13Speaker 6: about that movie you know because that's a real person
- 59:16Speaker 6: and that's a real story and it's like I'm not
- 59:19Speaker 6: just doing it to mess with them I'm like if
- 59:20Speaker 6: you ask me about some bad job I had 10
- 59:23Speaker 6: years ago you know what I'll tell you how bad
- 59:25Speaker 6: it was it's like you know I think.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Maybe people will.
- 59:29Speaker 6: Say, oh, it's different when it's art. But I'm like, well,
- 59:32Speaker 6: it's art when it's good. When it's bad, it was
- 59:34Speaker 6: just a job. And even the actors will tell you that,
- 59:37Speaker 6: you know, this was a paycheck. I needed to take
- 59:41Speaker 6: care of whatever situation I was in.
- 59:43Speaker 1: This job came along and I took it.
- 59:45Speaker 6: And I don't think even they look at a lot
- 59:48Speaker 6: of the stuff that turns out bad as art. I
- 59:51Speaker 6: think they realize it's a job more than anybody.
- 59:54Speaker 1: And if they can't laugh at it and talk about it,
- 59:58Speaker 1: then they're assholes. That's the other thing.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: If you can't just, yeah, that was a part of
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: my life and I did it. There's a whole lot,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: like you said, a whole lot of jobs I took
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: that I didn't like who I was working for.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I didn't agree who I was working for. I hated
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: the job I was doing, but I did it because
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I needed that check. They're people just like we are.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: They need those checks.
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: That's kind of why I like... You really get a
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: sense of the people that you're talking to, too. I've
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: talked to several of them now that have actually kind
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: of laughed about it and be like, Oh, you know what?
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: This is a bad movie, but I had fun doing it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: And they'll give you reasons why they actually liked the experience.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: Even if the movie came out kind of cheesy or,
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: you know, even if it was bad overall, they'll tell
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: you it was bad and they'll tell you why. And I,
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: you know, I think that's kind of equally as interesting
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: going into these kinds of projects in talking about, it's
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: probably more interesting than the movie itself.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Um, The guy that played Lloyd.
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: Gary Roberts.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Gary Roberts, yeah. He looks MC Ganey. They look... You
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: know who I'm talking about? Which one is Lloyd? Lloyd is.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: Is he the Western guy?
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: The Western guy. Okay, yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: You know, I mean, in a way, he was not...
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: terrible as a performer.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: No. Because I actually bought him as a dick.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Like, that's the thing. He's a horrible character, don't get
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: me wrong. I hate him when he's on screen.
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: Right. But I'm watching as it goes on, and I'm like, well,
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: as an actor, he's doing a good job.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: He probably did about the best job. He kind of did.
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: I mean, outside of Billy Dee, I mean, he's about
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: all you've got to work with here. And it's sad,
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: because he's obnoxious the whole time, and I hate him, but...
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: He sort of turns in a realistic performance where I'm
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: not buying DJ, you know?
- 1:01:50Speaker 9: No.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: He seems fake from the first second he's on screen.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: And the other, the Peter, the guy with the long
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: hair just doesn't fit, doesn't work.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Nothing works with him. Like, the look, the attitude, the,
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: I mean, everything about him just doesn't add up.
- 1:02:07Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: None of them go together. None of them belong on
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: this guy. None of them belong on the interest that
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: he has. None of them belong in a prison. I mean,
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: nothing matches with that guy especially.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: And then Maxwell Caulfield's role, the, I guess, lead character.
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: Our lead character is Maxwell Caulfield, if you're not familiar
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: with him.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: And good lord, he just seems like an ass, doesn't he?
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure in the real world I've heard some
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: pretty bad stories about him. So, again, maybe it's just
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: carrying over into this movie because, yeah, he just seems, like,
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: pissed off all the time in this.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: And, again, maybe it's not so much acting. Maybe, like,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: once again, this wasn't a great project.
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: So maybe that attitude's coming through in the character that
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: he's pissed that he even has to do this movie.
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: And it's coming through his neck. Right.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: And he, you know, like the woman who's coming on
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: to him after her shower, you know, he's like, hmm,
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: how dare you try to sleep with me.
- 1:03:09Speaker 8: You know.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: And he does the same thing with Ariel. He's like,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: how dare you, you know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: Well, maybe he was more interested in those other guys
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: in prison.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: He doesn't, yeah.
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: There's other options, you know, maybe we don't know about.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: But either way, he's being a dick regardless.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Yeah, but it seems completely natural is the thing.
- 1:03:28Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: He doesn't impress me much in the way of.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: He's never impressed me as an actor.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Right, right. I don't remember how many things I've seen
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: him in, but all of them.
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: I've not really been impressed.
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:03:43Speaker 10: Oh, man.
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: Do we want to round out the performances?
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I guess old Scoggins? Yeah.
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: I don't get it. And granted, she sort of disappeared now,
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: so we at least have that in our favor. But
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: at this point in time, like, in the 90s, this
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: whole era, like, the end of the 80s, well into
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: the mid-90s, like, people.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Acted like she was a big deal. Like, she was
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: a name. Granted, it was, like, in straight-to-DHS features. silk
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: stockings silk.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Stockings and stuff on cable and wasn't she on Lois
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: and Clark wasn't that like the most mainstream I think
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: that was like the closest to like a mainstream well
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: known project that she sort of broke through on but
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: even on there it was just like she was the
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: obnoxious chick on there it's like she was there to
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: balance out the cuteness.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Of Lois so you gotta have somebody be a jerk
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: and it was her She has that 1990 look. She does, really.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: Her structure to her face, everything about her is... And
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: it's not my cup of tea.
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: I think that's part of it with me. It's like...
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: And maybe this comes into play, as we mentioned earlier
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: in the episode. Maybe it's just that look. It's like she,
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: to me, looks like somebody who's trying really hard to
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: be attractive. And... there's not and if you stripped it
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: down there wouldn't be much there because I feel like
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: it's like she's kind of got the Monet thing going
- 1:05:20Speaker 6: on it's like if you looked at her I can
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: understand she's got all the trappings of what most quote
- 1:05:26Speaker 6: unquote guys would find attractive but I get up close
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: and I'm just like I don't want any of that
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: just like it becomes a big old mess.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Since we're going to talk purely superficially let's talk for
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: the women in this movie okay And you brought it up.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: The women from the advertisement of the fantasy women you
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: could be with, none of them. Not one of them
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: was attractive.
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: Well, that's the thing. I mean, they're running through these women.
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: And I'm like, okay, normally I wouldn't be that superficial.
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: But they're running through fantasy women. Like, this would be, like,
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: every bad Playboy playmate should be up there. Everybody in
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: the most, like, glossy, you know, superficial version of a chick...
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: Should be up there on the screen behind them. Perfect.
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: Especially perfect. Because they aren't even real. It's a virtual
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: version of a woman. So there would be no imperfections. And...
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: 98% of them are really unattractive.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I'm sure that these women... aren't unattractive. I mean, they're not,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: you know, you strip them down and you take them
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: away from the role that they're playing.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: I'm sure they're probably not. I don't want to be
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: an asshole and say that they're unattractive, but... Tell them
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: we're design blames. I'm loving these softballs. No, but what
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: I'm saying is... Again, if your show is supposedly showing perfection,
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: they better be pretty damn good looking.
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: And once again, it's like they're shooting this, I'm assuming,
- 1:07:04Speaker 6: in Hollywood. I'm like, there's not a shortage of not
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: only attractive women, but very fake, plasticky looking women. You
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: would think, and again, this is probably a budget limitation,
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: but it would be relatively easy to find... What, 12
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: girls maybe that they flipped through there?
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: They could bring them in and buy them lunch and
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: afford it. So it's not.
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: Just say, you're going to be in a movie. Even
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: for a second, you're going to be in a movie.
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: And there should be a line of girls in Hollywood waiting.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: With Billy Dee Williams. Yeah, waiting to do that.
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: And they still couldn't deliver on that. That's just kind
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: of sad that even that little second of the movie
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: also seemed kind of cheap.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Now, here's part two of the superficial portion of the show.
- 1:07:46Speaker 9: The.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: All of the women who were supposed to be the
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: lesser ones, the fantasy women of the guys, the four
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: fantasy women, but the lesser ones, not as attractive as Ariel...
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: all of them were better looking than her.
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: In my opinion.
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: And spoiler alert once again, what does she do to
- 1:08:08Speaker 6: them all?
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: She kills them all.
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: This becomes her role is to work herself into the
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: fantasy of each of these.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Guys very subtly, if you want to call it that.
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: And then by the next time we reenter this fantasy,
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: she basically takes out each of the women that they
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: were sort of allotted, as part of this deal, they
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: get to pick one of the women off that screen
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: and they insert them in this made-up fantasy that they,
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: I guess, design or at least get to pick the
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: scenario of. And then they get to, you know, do
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: whatever with this specific woman. You only get one woman,
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: you pick her out, that's it. Well, she disposes of
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: them and then takes over as the lead in their fantasies, basically.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: You know, that was the most interesting part of the movie.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I went into it and it failed.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: I was not thrilled with the fact that it took
- 1:09:02Speaker 6: that turn. Because I think as I was having so
- 1:09:05Speaker 6: much fun in the early part, because it was so cheesy,
- 1:09:09Speaker 6: I was kind of having fun with the sets and
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: the bad dialogue, and it was kind of fun. Well,
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: then it takes that turn, and it's like, at that
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: point it's not... as fun anymore. It's not funny because
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: the sets aren't as cheesy, and the dialogue's not quite
- 1:09:22Speaker 6: as bad.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: But it's just a bad movie. But it's just, yeah,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: that's the thing. It also doesn't get better.
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: I mean, it's slightly better than that mess of the beginning,
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: but it's not a good movie either. So at that point,
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: you lose all the fun that was in the first half,
- 1:09:36Speaker 6: and you're just kind of left with mediocre at best.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: But then, as you say that, I could at least appreciate...
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: the parts of it that were better at that point.
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: And then when you get out of those fantasies, like,
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: you do it once, and then, like, 15 minutes later,
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: you're back in them again. And once you leave them
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: that second time, the movie, like, steadily goes downhill.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: And that's saying something.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: And it's supposed to be the fast-paced... point of the
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: movie where all the actions happen and it's just like
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: okay get this.
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: Over with yeah it was grueling that last half and
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: i and.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: That's saying something the reason the path that i was
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: going down with the fact that it was the better
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: portion of the movie the turn it could have taken
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: is instead of showing that she had disposed of them
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: like the the girl on the beach um that could
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: have turned into a great horror movie at that point
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: where she was taking these women out in the fantasy.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: That could have been cool to watch.
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: Um, we didn't really get that.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: No, it shows you, you know, a bullet, a stray
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: bullet hits one of them. And one girl's just dead
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: on the beach. And I, You know, the whole tie
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: the guy up scene in bed.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: That was silk stocking. That was silk stocking. That was
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: massively silk stocking. That was just dumb. That was Brent
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: Hugh Diaries. Yes, it was.
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: Since we're doing early 90s here, yeah, let's go ahead
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: and throw in all the bad sex references of bad
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: sex cable projects.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: It could have then been ratcheted up horror movie, and
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: then you could have done the same thing on the ship.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: And made it almost a she's now someone after them.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: That could have been– it wasn't technical enough to be psychological.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: And that's what it was going for is, ooh, this
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: thing is getting us. Or even a Freddy Krueger, we
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: can't escape her.
- 1:11:32Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean, it could have gone a couple of
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: different ways there, and it didn't do either.
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: Uh-uh.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: And the way that it goes is the least interesting. Hey,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: put it this way.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: That 12 year old boy after the tied up scene
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: in the bedroom, he wasn't interested anyway.
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: At that point he took a nap and then the
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: screenwriter went in and.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: Went, what do I do with this?
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: Like, I don't care.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: I got off. That's all that matters.
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: All right, let me finish writing something here.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: So yeah, it really tailed off and.
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: And not soon enough. Like I was just like, Oh please.
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: By the end I was like, This last scene is
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: kind of dumb, but please let the credits roll so
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: we can be done with this.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: It was about two hours, and it could have been
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: an hour and a half.
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: A half an hour.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: I'm telling you.
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: At least an hour-long show, so it would have been
- 1:12:20Speaker 6: about 46 minutes. Once you throw commercials in. It could
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: have been one of those, and I don't think it
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: would have been any less. I think you could have
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: easily told this story that same way. taken out a
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: good portion of that filler in the last half of it,
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: and hopefully turned it into a better wrap-up, too, where
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: maybe either one, I mean, she could have turned into
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: some physical manifestation and they would have had to deal
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: with her, or she could have actually really gotten into
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: the heads of one of them and not just been
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: like genie whispering in their ear as they jump around,
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: but actually made them crazy.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Because, I mean, in the end, that's.
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: What this becomes. This is a story about space madness
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: and only it's this creature this they refer to more
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: as a virus but it's a virus that comes with
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: DNA from an alien or something weird like that so
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: I mean basically it's it's What's the cheapest way we
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: can have an alien movie and not have an alien
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: in it? I mean, it's called Alien Intruder, and, I mean,
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: you don't ever really see an alien. The closest scary
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: thing you see is Tracy Scoggins. I mean, they found, like,
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: a loophole in, well, we, you know, once again, budget limitations.
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: It's like they probably wrote it specifically because at the end,
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: do we have to have a big giant monster that
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: we fight?
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: No, because we can't afford one.
- 1:13:45Speaker 10: Mm-hmm.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: So instead, let's find this way to make it all
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: in their minds.
- 1:13:49Speaker 14: And then they fight each other because it's crazy space madness.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: Well, you know, he even uses, Billy Dee even uses
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: that cop-out as far as saving money is he says
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: that the ships were made identically.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: So that they can use the same set.
- 1:14:05Speaker 9: Nice.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: They were smart. No, they weren't smart, but they tried
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: to be smart. They tried to be smart.
- 1:14:11Speaker 6: It didn't pan out for them so much.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I kept thinking that we were going to get
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: some kind of.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: Her becoming, revealing that she's an alien, but no, that
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: never happened.
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, again, there's a lot of other movies
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: that tried to do something, and the wrap-up becomes something
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: like that. The set-up isn't the same as this at all,
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: but in the end, a lot of sci-fi movies kind
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: of go that route, and it turns around, and you're
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: dealing with a much bigger life form, usually physically, because
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: then that can be your grand finale, is a big
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: monster-type creature to kill, and yeah, there's no battle.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: But that takes some kind of special effects.
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: Special effects and budget and.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: I guess the biggest special effects in this were either
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: the orange spaceships floating around... Which I was trying to decide,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: were those made out of Legos? I think they were made.
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: Out of Legos.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: And then.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: The blue lasers.
- 1:15:09Speaker 6: Which, the ones in the prison?
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Right. Those were pretty fancy. Oh, the red lasers on
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the bars? The bars, yeah.
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: There were the blue lasers on the gun, but then
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: when they were in prison, they had laser bars.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Right. I don't even know how to describe those exactly.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: They were red lines.
- 1:15:26Speaker 6: They were cutting edge of 1993 technology, I suppose, because.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: You know, it really puts in perspective.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I was.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: I was graduating high school in 1993, and it doesn't
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: seem like the world was like that.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: It doesn't seem like it was that long ago, really,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: in my mind. And I can't believe they put this
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: out in 1993.
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: And again, I think it's all budget, because I can
- 1:15:54Speaker 6: find new movies older.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Than that that look better than this. Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:58Speaker 6: And it's because they just had more budget to work
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: with and had more skilled people behind it that... know
- 1:16:05Speaker 6: how to make stuff look right, and know how.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: To hide it when they can't make it.
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: I mean, when they realize that it's 1980, and we
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: don't have the technology to do this, how do we
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: work around that? And there's just smarter ways to do that,
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: and they just didn't know how to do it, I'm assuming,
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: in this.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: There are student films, one of those 48-hour festivals, there
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: are student films that have No budgets and pull better
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: stuff off.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I mean, yeah. Which, again, I mean, you don't want
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: to totally trash them.
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: They try.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: They try.
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: They just– you just need to realize going in you
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: don't have the goods there, you know?
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Write something that you can manage.
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Write something that you're in one– if you don't have
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: a budget– Like I said, with Clerks, they filmed from
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: a car, a rooftop, outside of the store and inside
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: of the store.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: I mean, that was basically the movie.
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: And I mean, you can do, now especially, I mean,
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: you look at something like Moon. Moon is like nothing
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: budget compared.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: To major studio releases.
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: And it looks amazing.
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: Now, granted, it's a very different technological world now. But still,
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: I mean, just to compare, it's like, Once again, that's
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: somebody who knows how to work the system, knows how
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: to work around what they can't do. And again, a
- 1:17:31Speaker 6: lot of that is set in one place. Very limited
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: number of actors. It's like they realize what the budget
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: they're going in, who they can call favors in on
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: to make it look good. It's like they worked away
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: to make it look good.
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: Did you have a nice weekend, Van Cuso?
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: You changed the course. That's right. I'm supposed to be
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: your navigator. Why the hell didn't you tell me first?
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: You're on a need-to-know basis, Mancuso.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Or did you forget?
- 1:17:59Speaker 6: Okay, one of the only other things that seemed really
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: just laughable, and it was into these, I guess, as
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: we look back, the more interesting segments, but... Okay, so
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: you get.
- 1:18:12Speaker 9: What?
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: The weekend to go into these fantasies.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: And I think we even made some of these comments,
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: but I just really wanted to go into it. Why
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: are you wasting your time with all this other stuff?
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: You've got a fantasy world where you can do everything
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: and you're going to go in and like... Again, these
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: are guys in prison. Mm-hmm. In the real world, they're A, guys. B,
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: guys that just got out of prison. All you're going
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: to want to do is fuck.
- 1:18:40Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: I mean, let's be realistic. All these guys would want
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: to do is, I mean, and they're giving them a woman.
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: They're basically saying, this is all you're going to do.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Go go to town, have fun. And we go in
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: and we see scenes of him.
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: Running on the beach and working out on some sort
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: of equipment. I'm like, really? Your fantasy is to work
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: out on some sort of piece of equipment. And while
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: the girl that walks by half naked, you give attitude to.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: When she approaches him, he gives her attitude and walks
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: away from her.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: And then when Ariel's on top of him... He keeps
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: saying no, no, no.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: Is he gay?
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Then it wouldn't be his fantasy.
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, then it's their fault for not researching
- 1:19:24Speaker 6: what it was. But if so, he was playing along
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: because didn't he have to pick somebody? Wasn't there another
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: disc with guys on it? I mean, they should open this.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Up to everybody. Especially if they're getting guys from prison.
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure. We're probably going to run into that scenario.
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: Let's just go ahead and cater to everyone.
- 1:19:43Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: But not even that. Like, okay, even if you take
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: the girls out of it, I'm just like.
- 1:19:51Speaker 6: I could understand, I guess, if it was after a while,
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: you know? And they were up there a couple of months,
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: but still, I think for these guys, they're pretty dumb.
- 1:19:57Speaker 6: They would not get tired of sex right off the bat.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: No. If you're talking.
- 1:20:01Speaker 6: Years and years, eventually you'd bore with that, and you'd
- 1:20:03Speaker 6: want to move off, and maybe you would do other stuff. But,
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, he's devoting so much of his old
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: West time to gunfights.
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: Now, the steak thing, I can understand that he might
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: want a good steak cooked for him, but yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: That's all very, you know, self-indulgent. And riding a Harley
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: with a... Again, riding a Harley, eh.
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: Again, it seems like a real quick setup, but I mean,
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: we see nothing but him riding around and trashing a
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: small town and getting into fights with people. It's like, really?
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: This is your fantasy?
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: I don't know. It just seems so....
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well, what's the whole thing with the Casablanca fantasy?
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: That's such a waste of time.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: They're drinking, and he has that squirrely guy asking him.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: You got to give me the documentary.
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: Yeah. None of it goes anywhere. I'm just like, this
- 1:21:03Speaker 6: is your fantasy?
- 1:21:04Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:21:05Speaker 6: To rip off a 10 million times better movie.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: And steal lines kind of directly from it. And they
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: do steal.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: And they do.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Right. And characters and outfits.
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: I mean, everything about it, it's not like, I mean, first,
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: when they first get to it, I'm like, okay, he's
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: just doing like a noir kind of thing. Right. There's
- 1:21:23Speaker 6: plenty of movies that have that look. But as it
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: goes into, like, once he leaves the office, I'm like, no,
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: this is straight up Casablanca.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's fully intends to be.
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: But again, I mean, like, once again, these guys all
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: seem too dumb to do that. Like, I think Casablanca's awesome.
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: Maybe eventually I'd get around to wandering through Casablanca, but
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: I don't know. Not that I'm any better than these guys,
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: but it just seems fake is what it is. You know,
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: I'm just like, it seems very forced. And especially for
- 1:21:55Speaker 6: these characters, it just did not fit them that they
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: would be spending so much time on these little side
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: stories and extra plot lines and random side characters. And again,
- 1:22:07Speaker 6: I guess it's a movie we've got to allow for
- 1:22:09Speaker 6: some sort of scene to take place. But it just
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: all feels really fake to me.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's, well, you know, when you have a kid
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: that was 12 years old and watching Silk Stocking is
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: right at it. I'm convinced that that's what happened. If
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: you're going to get into fantasies, let's make them a fantasy. Although,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: you could have established with one line, if you wanted
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: to go down that line of, we've been on the
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: ship for three months, you could say, well, the first month,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: all I did was fuck.
- 1:22:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Okay. Say that. Get it out of the way.
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: In better developed characters, I think you would do that.
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: And they're like, well, okay, this is a fantasy. I
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: really can't explore this.
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: Where would you.
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: again, if we're going to steal from the holodeck idea, that,
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: I mean, if anybody made use of that little twist
- 1:22:58Speaker 6: in a plot line, I mean, you go back to
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: the Star Trek world, and specifically that TV series, it
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: spent so many episodes inside that, and sort of exploring
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: what you could do with a plot that takes place
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: in a fake situation, or what happens to these characters
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: when they're in this situation, and and where they do
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: end up going. And those characters all seem well-developed enough
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: that I buy that eventually, you know, granted, they probably
- 1:23:25Speaker 6: did the same thing.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Riker's kind of an idiot, too.
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: In the beginning, I'm sure all he did was fuck.
- 1:23:30Speaker 6: But eventually, you know, the other characters and more well-developed
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: characters come along, and I'm sure, you know, I buy
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: those stories. It's like those characters... feel real in exploring
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: those worlds. I mean, specifically, Picard goes into a film
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: noir world, and he does all that stuff.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: So, again, I buy it with him. I don't with
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: these guys. You don't with those guys.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: Well, didn't Data do the one where he was Sherlock Holmes?
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: And he wanted one so difficult that he couldn't solve it.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Boy, I'm geeking it out now.
- 1:23:59Speaker 6: But again, I think that's somebody using that to their advantage.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: That's somebody realizing that this really is unlimited in the
- 1:24:07Speaker 6: way that you can take the story and how much
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: you can explore things, like, you know, just very deep,
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: you know. I mean, most of what, especially Next Generation,
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: really got into that weird, like, Exploring the characters and
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: the motivations behind them, especially Data. Data had that big
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: humanity thing. He had the whole Pinocchio scenario going on.
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: So everything was about finding out how to be real
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: and what made you a person. So they used that
- 1:24:35Speaker 6: to sort of delve into all these different avenues.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: This movie does not. Yet this movie is epic.
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: After that. You know they watched it. You can't pretend
- 1:24:47Speaker 6: like they didn't.
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: That's the sad part. You're like.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: That's a TV show. Granted a TV show that had
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: a budget.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: And good writers. And good writers. And a good concept.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: And good actors. It's way better than it will ever be.
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: But.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Again you can see what.
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: They're trying to do on the TV show and what
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: they just painfully miss.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: At in this movie. Yeah, this is a miss the
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: entire time. Pretty much.
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: From the opening, just the music as the credits are going,
- 1:25:23Speaker 6: it just sounds cheesy. It sounds like it wants to
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: be sci-fi music in a sci-fi movie, and they're trying
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: really hard to be sci-fi movie music, and it's just
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: painfully cheesy, and it doesn't get any less cheesy when...
- 1:25:38Speaker 6: conway's on the.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Screen jeff conway i know jeff conway opens this movie
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: but he.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: Plays crazy so well because he's really crazy exactly i
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: mean that's that was that was probably the best casting
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: they did yeah in the entire movie i guess.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Okay maybe billy d billy d was a big.
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: Gift yes for this i mean i'm sure billy d
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: is what sold this movie i'm sure they had him
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: attached and then went okay, now we can get a
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: little bit of money, and now we can get other
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: actors on board, and yes, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: But Conaway, I didn't want any more from his storyline.
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: No.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: I was frustrated and bored with it early on. I
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: was like, I really don't care what's wrong.
- 1:26:19Speaker 10: With these guys.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: And it's like 10 minutes tough. Yeah. But he definitely
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: was the best part.
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: Of that, unfortunately.
- 1:26:25Speaker 10: That segment, I mean, yeah.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Unfortunately. I mean, the rest of it was.
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: Just bad special effects and bad pretend falling down because
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: I just got shot.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm not going to say that that part worked,
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: but he worked in that part.
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, again, doing the best with what little
- 1:26:44Speaker 6: you're given.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: He can do crazy just fine.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: He can do.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: Crazy just fine. No, I was, yeah, he did a
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: fine job. Much better than Maxwell Caulfield. Although he did
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: play a dick pretty well.
- 1:26:56Speaker 6: Once again, not sure that's acting.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: You know, again, I've mentioned this on other shows before,
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: and it's one of those things where I want a
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: character in the movie, especially my protagonist, the guy that's
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: going to make it out, I want to like that person.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: I want to identify with that person. I want something.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: They don't have to be a good person. They don't
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: have to be You know, they can be an asshole,
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: but there's got to be something about them. There was
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: no humility to that character. There was no, you know,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: nothing that I could identify with. And the one that
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: I honestly identified with was Lloyd more than any of them.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: He at least was a real person.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: I mean, he was a low end of the totem pole,
- 1:27:42Speaker 6: low end of the gene pool. Yeah.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: I mean, it was kind of like Biff.
- 1:27:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: You know, you don't like Biff. He's an asshole, but...
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: But there's a lot of guys out there just like Biff. Yeah,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: and you'll put up with him. And if Biff died,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: you know, you'd be pretty sad. Probably. For a little while.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Not sad, but.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Only now, because I'm attached to that character. Right. But
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: in the real world, he would be kind of a jackass. No,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: I'm talking about in the movie. In the movie, yeah,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: I guess.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Because when this guy is the sacrifice when he's killed off,
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, that was kind of like the one
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: guy I liked.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that was pretty much it.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: You know, you're hoping for that twist of the dick
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: lead actor gets killed off, and the one actor that
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: you didn't like in the.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Beginning, but maybe... Has to save the day. Yeah, you know, maybe,
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: you know... No. Unfortunately, no. They didn't give me that either.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: I don't like top billing guy getting out all the time.
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: Sometimes they have to mix it up, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: I guess with anything, even if you don't identify with
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: that specific character, in any scenario, they almost need to
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: give you a character that you can at least have
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: the perspective of, that gives you somebody that you're supposed
- 1:28:52Speaker 6: to see the story through their eyes, and it's like,
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: I don't want to see it through any of these people,
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: you know?
- 1:28:57Speaker 13: No.
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: There really isn't. I mean, the closest thing to a
- 1:28:59Speaker 6: likable character is Billy Dee. And by the end, he
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: becomes crazy too. So it's like you're left with nothing.
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: And really, that's what it feels like. In the end,
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: you're left with nothing. Just like, ugh. Yeah, it just becomes.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: Just kill him off and blow the ship up.
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: Yeah, let's hurry up and jettison your Lego ship out
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: into space so we can start the credits.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: It looked like, and this was before it, but it
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: looked like the.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Cardboard and plastic box that Buzz Lightyear comes in.
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: There you go.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: In Toy Story.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: It really did.
- 1:29:32Speaker 14: It's because he was out looking for the G sector.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: Do we want to go into the G sector?
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: Brian and I figured out during the G sector that
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: they're actually talking about the G spot.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: And you can play a.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: Drinking game to the anytime the G sector is mentioned.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: And it could be used for a euphemism for the G-spot,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: you drink. Once again.
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: But you'd be drunk fast. It's that one little segment.
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: It's like the number of times they say what they're saying,
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: and then the fact that right at the beginning we
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: made that smart-ass comment... And I couldn't listen to anything
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: they said after that because it all becomes about that.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: The G sector is a myth. Well, we're going out
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: there in the middle of it to go searching for it.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: You'll never find it.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: I mean, it's like everything about it just became ten
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: times funnier than anything they actually put thought into.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: Men get lost on the way to the G sector.
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: It's just so much better.
- 1:30:34Speaker 10: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Sometimes you got to MST this bitch up.
- 1:30:38Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: That was probably the most enjoyable moment of the evening.
- 1:30:44Speaker 6: Kind of, yeah.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: It sort of was.
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: So it was about a minute and a half's worth
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: of lines straight where every single one of them could
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: have been guys sitting around a poker table talking about.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: I can't find the G-spot. I can't find the G-spot.
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: Oh, yep.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that's the case with all these guys. Again,
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: the 12-year-old boy.
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: Yep, pretty much.
- 1:31:07Speaker 6: It all comes back to that skunk-ass polecat.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: A skunk-ass polecat.
- 1:31:14Speaker 6: Yeah, that once again is a line.
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: The redundant.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, isn't that redundant? They didn't really
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: think that line through at all, did they? No, I
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: did want to mention one thing.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: The explosion that was a pretty good pyrotechnics explosion, but then... Well,
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: that was at the gas station that exploded.
- 1:31:35Speaker 6: Yeah, the 50s one?
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: The 50s gas station. That was the best.
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: There was a decent one earlier on. There was a
- 1:31:40Speaker 6: couple of decent explosions, especially for this budget. But the
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: one in the 50s world, that was impressive.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: But then at the very end of it, there was
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: like this little... Fireworks. The little cones. It's like the
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: cones firework that spark at the edge of it. It
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: emits shower of sparks. Is that what you're talking about?
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: That's exactly what I'm talking about.
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: Light the volcano and step back because it will emit
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: a shower of sparks.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: And that's exactly what that was. It can't have been any.
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: I've seen those too many times because they shove a
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: hundred of those.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: In every case of fireworks that you buy.
- 1:32:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: And that's what, I mean, it was like this great
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: pyrotechnics explosion, you know.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Even with a guy being hurled from it.
- 1:32:26Speaker 9: Yep.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: That's one of the better stunts, dude. And then this little...
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: That one was still way better than the ones at
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: the prison escape.
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: You could see the big flamethrower mounted onto the floor
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: as the fire would shoot up out of it.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: I'm like, this prison was equipped with flamethrowers? Yeah, on
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: the ceiling. That just shoot up into the air?
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was so bad you could even see
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: the pilot portion of the flamethrower before.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: It's got a little spark and now, ooh, that one's
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: going to go, that one's going to go.
- 1:33:01Speaker 6: And because he's getting close to it. Right.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: But apparently new Alcatraz is... Space Sucker Jazz!
- 1:33:11Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: He's fitted with roofs that have flamethrowers. As all buildings
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: will have in the future.
- 1:33:21Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: I feel for humility. You're right.
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: You are a hard-working man, and this movie is so
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: beneath you, it's not even funny.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: You know what would have sold it if he would
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: have had a Lando cape?
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: What's... Yeah.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:39Speaker 6: What I was going to say, what's funny is so
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: many of his movies, they steal that photo. Because one
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: of the other ones on his list, I actually have
- 1:33:46Speaker 6: a version of. And it's like a bad 70s exploitation
- 1:33:50Speaker 6: kind of movie. And it's just a picture of him
- 1:33:52Speaker 6: on the front from the movie. But on the back,
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: it's him in the blue Lando game.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: And I was just like, that is not from this movie.
- 1:33:59Speaker 6: You are cheating.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: You can see Lobot in the back. Lobot is not
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: in this movie. This $ 1.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: 50 DVD is not that Lobot.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: They should have just gone ahead and named that Android Lobot.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: That would have been awesome. They should have just followed
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: him around all the time. That's pretty much what he
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: did is follow him around all the time. He talked
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: about as much as Lobot.
- 1:34:21Speaker 11: Wow.
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: That's... Alien and Turner.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: It would be one of those late night, you know,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: what's this? Oh, fuck it, I'll watch it. It's got
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: Billy Dee in it.
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: And I would have, I mean, this is, yeah, I'm
- 1:34:45Speaker 6: sure I would have watched this on VHS at some
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: point back in the day. Somehow I missed it then. Really,
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: that was even on the end of that. I mean,
- 1:34:52Speaker 6: this feels like an 80s straight-through VHS movie. And, yeah,
- 1:34:57Speaker 6: it still plays like that, only it was 93, which
- 1:35:00Speaker 6: kind of makes it a little more sad.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: Could they have had it in the can and just
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: held on to it?
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: Maybe.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: I mean, it's that bad. It is.
- 1:35:09Speaker 6: There's so many issues with this movie. All right.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Is there anything else that we can make fun of?
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like I want to say something good, but.
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: There's not a lot, really.
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: There's not a lot. I mean, I usually, more than
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: most people, try to find the best and even the
- 1:35:24Speaker 6: worst of movies, but.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: Oh, the Ariel character is just a waste.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: I'm not even talking about the actress. Yeah, she just.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: There is no.
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: character to her right granted in initially she's a virtual
- 1:35:39Speaker 6: reality program but as it goes on she's not but
- 1:35:43Speaker 6: they never give her any real character there's no identity
- 1:35:47Speaker 6: to her right and she like even as a virtual
- 1:35:50Speaker 6: reality character has nothing but quippy one-liners to say and
- 1:35:55Speaker 6: everybody and it's just yeah she's just annoying that's what
- 1:35:58Speaker 6: she is.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Yeah That's why they were all blowing that ship up.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: They were just enjoying it. They just want to get
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: away from her. I can't escape, so how about if
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: I die?
- 1:36:07Speaker 6: Leave me alone.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Then, right?
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: Another thing I groaned at is when Lloyd was talking
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: to DJ, and DJ was figuring out that it was
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: a virus on the ship, and Lloyd was concerned that
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: he was getting some kind of VD from his fantasy world. That, again,
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: is something a high school kid would have come up with.
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: But even a high school kid would know that when
- 1:36:37Speaker 6: you use a computer, you don't type the same two
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: keys over and over again.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: The DJ was doing his... He was like hitting the
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: F and the L. Just over and over. And that
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: was him. That's how you break into a navigation system
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: that's got a virus.
- 1:36:53Speaker 6: In new space, I guess.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: In new space.
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: FL, FL, FL, FL.
- 1:36:57Speaker 6: Well, the thing is, again, in complaining about the pacing,
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: the last half of this movie is just people typing.
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: You go through Billy Dee typing for a long time
- 1:37:09Speaker 6: and sitting in front of a screen and then... Once
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: he kind of takes a step out of the picture,
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: DJ comes in and he sits in front of a
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: screen and types for 10, 15 minutes. It's just, yeah.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: And even in the beginning, the captain of the Holly,
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: is that what it was called?
- 1:37:26Speaker 10: I guess.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: He's typing on a keyboard that is vertical.
- 1:37:30Speaker 9: Vertical.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: He's typing against it, and it's new. And, you know,
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: that probably was, you know, technology. Normally, you know, your
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: computer was connected like your Apple IIe, you know, where.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Like, it's all one machine. But this, it was actually separate,
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: and you could mount it on the wall and type
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: on it. It was new and fancy.
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: How amazing would that be if all of a sudden
- 1:37:54Speaker 6: you had the iPad II?
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: How big would that be?
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: Futuristic.
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: What movie were we talking about last week? Oh, in
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: Red Riding Hood, we were talking about last week. They
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: had iPods, didn't they?
- 1:38:07Speaker 6: Well, that's because Apple sponsored that movie.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: They were like, I don't care what you're set in.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: You're working in some product shops.
- 1:38:14Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: She's like, isn't there a Wolf app on this somewhere?
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: Wolf Destroy. I had to pay $ 1. 99, but it was
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: worth it. Let's throw angry birds at the wolf.
- 1:38:32Speaker 6: Oh, and while we're making fun of DJ, which, great,
- 1:38:36Speaker 6: that was a minute or so ago, but I have
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: to call him out for, in his dream sequence, I mean,
- 1:38:43Speaker 6: he's dorky enough in the real world, but when he
- 1:38:45Speaker 6: gets into his dream sequence... His hair suddenly looks like
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: vanilla ice.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: And he's riding around on a motorcycle, so suddenly I'm like,
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: are we in Cool as Ice? Did I switch movies
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: all of a sudden? You know, it was. It was
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: cut up around.
- 1:39:01Speaker 6: It was.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:02Speaker 6: And then he, like, he made it higher and it
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: stuck kind of up in that. It was totally cool
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: as ice. He just didn't have that bitchin' motorcycle suit.
- 1:39:10Speaker 6: He had, like, a Letterman jacket. He was still kind
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: of a dork, even in the 50s.
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: And, you know, if it's your fantasy, don't get your
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: ass kicked.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: That was Tracy Scoggins' fault. Oh, that was Scoggins' fault.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: She messed it all up. That skank. I think we
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: should go out on that. Okay. Tracy Scoggins is a skank.
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: I don't know anything about Tracy Scoggins, but she's a skank.
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: I don't like her.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:39:38Speaker 6: I can't help it. There's just something about her that
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: just has always.
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: Brian groaned when her name came up. Because I hadn't
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: watched the trailer in a long time.
- 1:39:50Speaker 6: I remembered then that I'd seen her in the trailer
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: and had that reaction then. But that was a long
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: time ago when I first watched the trailer.
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: Yeah. And then I remembered and went, ugh.
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: So, go check out Alien. Check it out. Go buy
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: yourself a copy. I don't know if it's in print.
- 1:40:12Speaker 6: Let us know how you guys feel about it.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: You're right. If you're a Billy Dee completist. Yeah, this
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: is definitely the end of the list. Or a Maxwell
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Caulfield completist.
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: You're a glutton for punishment there.
- 1:40:27Speaker 8: God.
- 1:40:28Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: We will take a break and be back with the
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: rest of the show.
- 1:40:33Speaker 19: It's hump day, boys. Hump diggity dog day. We are
- 1:40:37Speaker 19: sliding on down to the weekend. You boys keep learning
- 1:40:40Speaker 19: about that damn G-Sector, and old Mr. Pecker gonna pack
- 1:40:44Speaker 19: his bags and go on home.
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: You're back. Sector's uncharted, Lloyd. There's some electromagnetic probes out there.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: Every one of them's come back blank. What are you saying?
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: There's nothing there? According to our definition. But we're going
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: in there to rescue somebody.
- 1:41:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: Great.
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: Right smack in the middle of it. Dead space, gentlemen.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: Holy Jesus Christ.
- 1:41:15Speaker 19: I can't believe I'm sitting here playing poker with a
- 1:41:18Speaker 19: bunch of Alice's.
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: No one's ever made it out of there, man.
- 1:41:39Speaker 16: There are two rules to remember if you want to
- 1:41:41Speaker 16: have a good time. Rule number one, never run out
- 1:41:43Speaker 16: of Colt.
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: 45.
- 1:41:43Speaker 16: Rule number two, never forget rule number one. You want
- 1:41:49Speaker 16: to know why you should keep plenty of Colt.
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: 45 on hand?
- 1:41:52Speaker 16: You never know when friends might show up. I don't
- 1:41:55Speaker 16: claim you can have a better time with Colt.
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: 45 than without it. But why take chances? The power
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: of Colt. 45. It's part of your problem, you know.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: You haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: answered in the movies.
- 1:42:12Speaker 10: And now, on with the show.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: It takes a turn.
- 1:42:41Speaker 6: Is that it?
- 1:42:43Speaker 13: No.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: This one takes no turns. This one was swallowing downhill
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: right off the bat.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: I was going to go straight down a straight and
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: narrow towards suck.
- 1:42:54Speaker 6: Oh, poor Billy.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: This one is just flounders. Yeah.
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: It's like.
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: Okay, if it maintained the consistent bad the entire time,
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: that's fine, but it turned into like... It's fun bad.
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: That's the thing. Those first 20 minutes are fun. I'm
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: just like, oh, this movie's awesome. It's so cheesy and
- 1:43:12Speaker 6: bad and ridiculous.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: The guy with the big gun and the escape from
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: the prison.
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: By the time you get out of those hologram dream sequences,
- 1:43:26Speaker 6: it's just.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: It's almost like they were born with it. Yeah. And
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: they just like, yeah, we just got to get through this.
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: We just got to finish. Whatever. Fuck it. Just finish it.
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: Everybody seems bored with it.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: Yeah, we're still talking about the movie. We can't get
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: away from it. So, all right, we're back. And we're back. Oh, okay, kids,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: get out your secret decoder pins.
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: Set your pins to V2. Here is the message.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: It's me playing with my secret decoder pin.
- 1:43:52Speaker 6: But you're not making the noise.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:43:55Speaker 6: This is the worst fanfare I've ever had.
- 1:43:57Speaker 10: I know.
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: It is time for Movie Meltdown's Secret Circle reveal of
- 1:44:05Speaker 6: the next who knows how many features given where we're
- 1:44:08Speaker 6: going next week. Next week we will be heading to
- 1:44:12Speaker 6: the much anticipated next Horror Hound.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Yay.
- 1:44:15Speaker 6: Where I'm sure we will be pestering several celebrities and
- 1:44:19Speaker 6: probably running into other podcasters and listeners and it should
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: be interesting to No telling what will come of all this.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: Misty might get hauled to jail for trying to touch
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: Sean Patrick Flannery's face.
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: Probably. She's already said she wants to.
- 1:44:38Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: I don't know if she'll follow through on it.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:44:41Speaker 6: And Jay might already be there after, like, just asking
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: feldman a lot of crazy.
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: Questions right from what i hear.
- 1:44:48Speaker 6: He's pretty excited to see feldman i'm not even sure
- 1:44:51Speaker 6: why i don't know that he even likes feldman he
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: just gets excited and he's got the crazy fake feldman
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: sightings that have got him extra excited so.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: His girlfriend's got the other cory on her.
- 1:45:03Speaker 6: Leg yeah and i've told her to go up and
- 1:45:06Speaker 6: taunt him with it so Some trouble will ensue, I
- 1:45:10Speaker 6: am sure.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: Now, is this the event that Randy gets his mace?
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: See, now, I thought it would be fun if he
- 1:45:18Speaker 6: took it up there. Originally, I think Jay didn't think
- 1:45:20Speaker 6: about it, and he was just going to give it
- 1:45:22Speaker 6: to him there. But I'm assuming he's flying there.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: Flying there, right.
- 1:45:25Speaker 10: So, yeah.
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: He can't take that. I don't think that's going to
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: go over so well with him. But he could let
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: him see the mace.
- 1:45:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess he could show it and then bring
- 1:45:34Speaker 6: it back home. That seems like a tease, but we're
- 1:45:37Speaker 6: kind of sadistic.
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: We might do that. Here's your mace. I wonder if
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: they'll let him bring it in the room.
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: I see people bring a lot of fake weaponry. I
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: don't know if they'll realize that that one will actually
- 1:45:48Speaker 6: kill people.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: If he dresses up, he probably could save it.
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: Yeah, if he goes as an ogre or something, they
- 1:45:53Speaker 6: won't even notice that he could actually annihilate half of
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: that person.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, he could wipe out some. I mean, it's an impressive.
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: Video of jay bashing in that.
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: Coconut it's just yeah it like liquefied the thing it's
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: just yeah it's it's hardcore i.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: Had to show that to my wife it was i
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: was so impressed by.
- 1:46:13Speaker 6: It so oh so yeah that will be probably a
- 1:46:18Speaker 6: couple of episodes there i'm assuming we're gonna get a
- 1:46:21Speaker 6: good amount out of that hopefully so since we're making
- 1:46:24Speaker 6: the trip up there we're going to get something useful
- 1:46:26Speaker 6: out of it if i can help it so that
- 1:46:28Speaker 6: will be Coming at you the next couple of times.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: We're still deciding.
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: If nothing else, I'm assuming at least we know we
- 1:46:38Speaker 6: want to hopefully work in, as far as movie discussions,
- 1:46:42Speaker 6: we all want to see Sucker Punch. Desperately. Some of
- 1:46:46Speaker 6: us even have special crushes on the lead.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: Not even the guys. Right.
- 1:46:51Speaker 6: Last week, a certain.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Female cast member said she has a girl crush on
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: our female lead of this movie. You know, it's hard
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: not to have a crush.
- 1:46:58Speaker 10: Kind of, yeah.
- 1:46:59Speaker 6: I mean, I assumed that you and I would probably,
- 1:47:02Speaker 6: but even hearing her, I was like, well, yeah, I
- 1:47:04Speaker 6: can see that too. You can't fight it. She's just
- 1:47:07Speaker 6: that damn cute.
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: And she's cute, and like we talked about, there's something
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: odd about her as well.
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: Yeah, and she's not like obnoxious cute. She's not like...
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: overtly cutesy she's also like cute and I'm gonna kick
- 1:47:22Speaker 6: your ass at any given moment so I mean it
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: all sort of works in a perfect way to make
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: you like this girl so yeah we're hoping that comes
- 1:47:31Speaker 6: out next weekend as well so we're gonna try to
- 1:47:33Speaker 6: work in a viewing of that if we can squeeze
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: it in there somewhere between heading up there and coming
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: back and Misty not killing people for seeing them for
- 1:47:42Speaker 6: two days in a row so we'll see if we
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: can get all this worked out I make no guarantees laughing.
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: So with that, we will.
- 1:47:50Speaker 6: Once again remind you, last week we kicked off our
- 1:47:54Speaker 6: deal with Tweaked Audio. So, once again, we set you
- 1:47:57Speaker 6: guys up. We're giving you the deal. Go to tweakedaudio.com
- 1:48:01Speaker 6: and use the discount code MELTDOWN and get 33% off
- 1:48:05Speaker 6: and free shipping.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: Tweaked Audio.
- 1:48:08Speaker 6: Anything else to pass along?
- 1:48:10Speaker 9: No.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 1:48:12Speaker 6: Me either.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: I'm worn out by this movie.
- 1:48:13Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: And it's late.
- 1:48:15Speaker 6: It sucked the life out of me.
- 1:48:18Speaker 9: So.
- 1:48:19Speaker 6: Other ways that.
- 1:48:20Speaker 10: does it.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: We will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed.
- 1:48:23Speaker 6: Thanks for listening.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that was pretty shitty. It really was.
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: It really was.
- 1:49:22Speaker 7: Something about Opening the windows and doors I know How.
- 1:49:34Speaker 13: To move quietly Creep across creaky wooden floors I know
- 1:49:45Speaker 13: Where to find precious things In all your carpets and
- 1:49:51Speaker 13: drawers Slipping the clippers.
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: Slipping the clippers.
- 1:50:02Speaker 8: Through the talisman wires.
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: The sense of isolation In spite, in spite, in spite.
- 1:50:28Speaker 9: Hey!
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: Hey!
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: Hey!
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: You know I am.
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: Here I like you.
