- 1:25Speaker 2: You have to keep in mind some of those people
- 1:27Speaker 2: may not actually follow through. Yeah. Yeah, but even if
- 1:29Speaker 2: thirty percent of them did, it would be a great
- 1:31Speaker 2: Are we going to cap it at sure? Sure? Maybe

- 2:19Speaker 1: But it has approved gardening, not the good kind. Do
- 2:23Speaker 1: you get the reference? Do you know what gardening refers to?
- 2:27Speaker 2: You don't? Drugs? Oh that's what people call, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 2: weed and the like, Oh, this is I'm old, you know,
- 2:35Speaker 2: I know that. TikTok. That's right, Okay, I In case
- 2:39Speaker 2: it was unclear, I'm not that type of gardener. We
- 2:42Speaker 2: were actually talking about the gardening I've been doing in
- 2:44Speaker 2: my backyard with entirely different kind of weed. Totally. You're right.
- 2:49Speaker 2: We did talk about come join us. It's Patreon dot com,

- 3:14Speaker 1: that I write are like and the ones that Wendy
- 3:17Speaker 1: write are like.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I don't think that's accurate at all. Yeah, people don't
- 3:21Speaker 2: click on mine. I don't. People will click online stuff either.
- 3:26Speaker 2: They do. Your analytics are better than mine. Just take
- 3:29Speaker 2: the win. I'm going to take the W because I
- 3:31Speaker 2: feel like the big L on everything else in my
- 3:34Speaker 2: life right now. So, Hey, do you want to talk
- 3:37Speaker 2: about Nelly Knows, mister, I do so much? Uh what
- 3:43Speaker 2: do we start with this synopsis? That's right. Nelly and
- 3:46Speaker 2: Detective Michael set out to solve the murder of a
- 3:50Speaker 2: guest while at a lavish dinner. I need everyone to
- 3:53Speaker 2: know what I'm working with right here. I cannot changing glasses.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I can't like my aren't strong enough. But my regular
- 4:02Speaker 2: go oh did you get your bivocals? Yeah, but my
- 4:05Speaker 2: bifocals are only good for crafting. My bifocals are my
- 4:09Speaker 2: crafting while watching television, not for reading the computer.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I mean, I.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Suppose they could be.
- 4:15Speaker 1: We're gonna go with the readers for right now. David
- 4:18Speaker 1: Eistrasser directs Nelly Knows Mysteries All Manners of Murder. David
- 4:22Speaker 1: has thirty five directing credits and was responsible for the
- 4:24Speaker 1: first movie in the Nelly Nose Mysteries franchise. His other
- 4:28Speaker 1: work includes The Wish Swap?
- 4:30Speaker 2: Did I say the Wish Swap? It is a hard title?
- 4:33Speaker 1: The Wish Swap, Christmas at the Golden Dragon, and Campfire Christmas.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Catherine Wagner wrote the screenplay. She is a Canadian writer
- 4:41Speaker 2: with just two writing credits so far, including the first
- 4:44Speaker 2: Nelly Knows Mysteries movie.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Pascal Hutton returns as Nellie Parker. She's best known for
- 4:49Speaker 1: her long running role as Rosemary on When Calls the

- 4:57Speaker 1: The Christmas Cup, The Wish Swap, and No the bottomn
- 5:00Speaker 1: Cavin Smith co stars as Michael Hogan. He's also known
- 5:04Speaker 1: for his role as Leland Coulter on One Calls the Heart,

- 5:19Speaker 1: credits and also appeared in the first Nelly Knows Mysteries movie.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Laura Soltis plays Palmer. You'll likely recognize Laura as she's
- 5:30Speaker 1: appeared in many Hallmark projects, including several Hanna Swinson mysteries,
- 5:34Speaker 1: This Time Each Year, Holiday Crashers, and so much more.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Victoria Dunsmore appears as Breathe.

- 5:46Speaker 1: Bedtime Stories.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Paul mcgillian plays Huck Spencer. Most recently saw him in
- 5:51Speaker 2: last Weekend's Sugar and Vice movie. This is his first
- 5:55Speaker 2: appearance in a Nelly Nos Mysteries film and marks his
- 5:58Speaker 2: one hundred and thirty four acting credit. It's very interesting
- 6:02Speaker 2: the crossovers we get in this movie, totally. Gabriel Rose
- 6:06Speaker 2: plays Clara Arlott. This movie marks her two hundred eighth
- 6:09Speaker 2: acting credit, and we saw her recently in Christmas Above
- 6:12Speaker 2: the Clouds as well as The Holiday Sitter and Firefly Lane.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Vincent Gale appears as Norman. This is his one hundred
- 6:19Speaker 2: and forty ninth acting credit, with previous appearances in Curious Caterer,
- 6:24Speaker 2: Foiled Plans, The Wedding Cottage, and Unexpected Grace.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Marky and Tarusiak plays Eli Flint. We last saw him
- 6:30Speaker 1: on Hallmark in twenty twenty four in True Justice Family Ties.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Interesting he plays the same character there, one we're expecting
- 6:37Speaker 1: to see again in two more True Justice movies coming
- 6:41Speaker 1: to Hallmark in the hopefully near future. Question, do you
- 6:44Speaker 1: think that's interesting that he's the same character.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they universe or nephew or some I can't
- 6:52Speaker 2: remember the relationship there. But why did they do that?
- 6:59Speaker 2: I wonder? I don't know Barry W. Levy appears as Adam.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You may recognize him from Hamewark roles in Holidays and
- 7:06Speaker 2: Leah's Perfect Gift. Most recently, he appeared in Accused, The
- 7:11Speaker 2: Karen Reid Story, The Lifetime Jim Was Not Good.
- 7:15Speaker 1: James Palladino appears as Teddy. This marks his twentieth acting credit,
- 7:19Speaker 1: though it's not his first time on Hallmark. He's previously
- 7:21Speaker 1: appeared in Scouting for Christmas, The Cases of Mystery Lane,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and Eight Gifts of Hanukkah. Friend of the show, Crystal
- 7:28Speaker 1: Lowe plays Michael's ex Leah.
- 7:30Speaker 2: We all know Crystal for her long running role as
- 7:33Speaker 2: Rita on Siinseeal Delivered. Also also noteworthy, Crystal will appear
- 7:39Speaker 2: in the forthcoming All for Christmas, which is a Whitney
- 7:42Speaker 2: Lovett Christmas movie set to air on Lifetime. People are
- 7:45Speaker 2: probably like, who's Whitney Lovett? Are you saying it's on Lifetime?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Because I told you it was on Like, yeah, yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 2: that is unconfirmed. It's unconfirmed. Okay, it's gonna be somewhere. Yes.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Dylan Willis appears as Josh. He's no stranger Hallmark Mysteries,
- 8:01Speaker 1: having played Lonnie in several Hannah s Whinson Mysteries. He's
- 8:04Speaker 1: also appeared in Holiday Crashers and Christmas with the Sings.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Andrea Rendell returns esh Sheriff Bergie Brahm. This marks her
- 8:12Speaker 2: sixth acting credit.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Let's take a quick break before we come back with
- 8:16Speaker 1: our first impressions.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Hey, Wendy, what is your first impression of all manners
- 8:28Speaker 2: of murder? Look? I don't make the rules, but Nelly
- 8:31Speaker 2: and Detective Hogan might be the it couple on Hallmark
- 8:35Speaker 2: right now.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Ooh, ooh, ooh, I can't wait. My first impression is
- 8:39Speaker 1: how many hidden panels can one house have?
- 8:41Speaker 2: Ooh? You know, I don't know if I ever told you.
- 8:43Speaker 2: One time, my family and I like my extended family
- 8:47Speaker 2: like parents and grandparents and brother and sister in law,
- 8:50Speaker 2: we rented a house out in the Palm Desert area
- 8:54Speaker 2: and the house was on Zillow at one point, and
- 8:59Speaker 2: I don't know why, but we were looking at these
- 9:01Speaker 2: photos and we're like, where's this room at It was
- 9:04Speaker 2: a hidden hidden panel room that we've found, and everyone
- 9:09Speaker 2: was like kind of freaked out, like don't don't close
- 9:12Speaker 2: the door behind you because you can't get out. Oh no,
- 9:15Speaker 2: I'm interested it was like a panic room. Basically, oh yeah, wild, Hey,
- 9:22Speaker 2: would you like about Nelly Know's mysteries? I want to
- 9:25Speaker 2: talk first about Pascal and Kevin Smith. Please do? They
- 9:30Speaker 2: are operating on another level of chemistry here, dude. I'd
- 9:33Speaker 2: watch them walk through Ikia together. God. I love a
- 9:38Speaker 2: good walkthrough Ikia. God. But you know, just there's no
- 9:45Speaker 2: denying that these two are spectacular together. And what I
- 9:50Speaker 2: noticed in this movie because we don't watch one calls
- 9:52Speaker 2: the Heart, so we're not. I mean, we see these
- 9:55Speaker 2: two show up like as little cameos and things, but
- 9:58Speaker 2: like not enough to like make a significant impression, right.
- 10:05Speaker 2: What I noticed in this movie is they react to
- 10:08Speaker 2: each other. They're not just reciting the line. They naturally
- 10:12Speaker 2: have this great sort of rapport with each other that
- 10:19Speaker 2: is obvious from years of working together and just being
- 10:22Speaker 2: good actors in general. I loved it. Their scenes felt
- 10:28Speaker 2: alive to me. I wanted I wanted to watch only them. Yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 2: their banter is off the charts charming. I would just
- 10:35Speaker 2: I would. I would watch a million seasons of them.
- 10:37Speaker 2: They are so good together.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And I'm going to jump to one of my likes
- 10:43Speaker 1: while we're talking about them. Okay, I love that they
- 10:46Speaker 1: are not making us wait for the romance to develop,
- 10:50Speaker 1: like yes, it's early, Like they're not kissing, they're not
- 10:52Speaker 1: in love, but they're not pretending like it's not happening.
- 10:56Speaker 2: We're not dragging it out. They're forward progress.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They're being honest with each other about the fact that
- 11:01Speaker 1: about the fact that there's an attraction and they like
- 11:03Speaker 1: each other and are you gonna ask me on a date?
- 11:05Speaker 3: And there's they're They're not like, oh, get out of
- 11:08Speaker 3: my business and it's so great and you're rooting for them.
- 11:11Speaker 3: You're not like, yeah, god, we're gonna be seven movies
- 11:13Speaker 3: in while they're still like, oh, maybe he likes me.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Okay, So that is I have that in my notes
- 11:19Speaker 2: watching Hannah Swinston last weekend and watching this week, like
- 11:23Speaker 2: the contrast is so stark because we have Hannah last
- 11:27Speaker 2: week who's like filling butterflies, still over each yeah, and
- 11:30Speaker 2: like does he like me? Does he not like me?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Am I worthy of is La Nanna? Here we have
- 11:34Speaker 2: Nelly and Michael who are just like boom, yeah, we
- 11:38Speaker 2: like each other. Like there's an obvious attraction here, there's
- 11:42Speaker 2: no secrets about it. It's it makes it so easy
- 11:48Speaker 2: to root for them as opposed to Hannah and chatterw
- 11:51Speaker 2: are like, let's move on with it already.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yes, I love the tone of this movie, and I
- 12:00Speaker 1: love the way they use so many elements to communicate
- 12:04Speaker 1: that tone. For example, okay, Nelly's closed, so good, her car,
- 12:11Speaker 1: the music. We have that opening scene where the unknown
- 12:14Speaker 1: masked marauders steals something, and we cut straight from that
- 12:17Speaker 1: scene to Nellie emerging from her house, which I'm pretty
- 12:20Speaker 1: sure mimics the first movie.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Feels familiar, but the music immediately jumps into like jaunty music,
- 12:28Speaker 2: and we know who we are. It's Nellie's music, it's
- 12:32Speaker 2: her soundtrack. It tells us exactly who she is and
- 12:36Speaker 2: what the tone of the movie is. And I it's
- 12:39Speaker 2: just like a real quick change, and I loved it.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Whoever's decision that was. I have some little elements of
- 12:45Speaker 2: this movie that I really enjoyed. Go ahead.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I love that Nellie only ever talks to her grandmother
- 12:50Speaker 1: while she's walking with her walking club.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I love that little cast of characters.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I love that she's like, oh, just catching them walking by,
- 12:55Speaker 1: and she hops on in and has a little moment
- 12:58Speaker 1: with them. And that's where she meets Seli and all
- 13:00Speaker 1: of this, And there's a lot of good lines in
- 13:05Speaker 1: this movie, but I especially loved when they're like, oh,
- 13:09Speaker 1: should be good cop, bad cop? Who are you gonna be?
- 13:10Speaker 1: And then she goes, I'll be good cop. You seem
- 13:12Speaker 1: to like you've already chosen bad cop.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It was just such a great delivery. She's so fun. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 2: yeah totally. Here's a like that I have. This is
- 13:23Speaker 2: how you run an investigations. Again, I have to compare
- 13:28Speaker 2: to last week's detective work over at the Lake Eden
- 13:32Speaker 2: Hotel and in Spa whatever it was called.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Didn't this just feel like you're watching like Knives Out
- 13:39Speaker 1: or something where they're actually investigating as opposed to link
- 13:42Speaker 1: all this bumbling around.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Like yeah exactly. I was like, okay, Detective Hogan, like
- 13:48Speaker 2: he sat everybody down, he questioned everybody, he took samples,
- 13:53Speaker 2: and yeah, like this is what we see the crime
- 13:57Speaker 2: to see what they might have missed. Yeah, I was like, this,
- 14:01Speaker 2: this is how you do it. I also really enjoy
- 14:05Speaker 2: Nelly and Fiona's relationship, even though we only see Fiona
- 14:09Speaker 2: like in the work aspect, but I love their friendship.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It feels real their playful ribbing of each other. It's
- 14:19Speaker 2: like a believable friendship. Yeah. Put Veronica Long, that's her name,
- 14:24Speaker 2: who plays Fiona. Put her in more movies. Totally put
- 14:27Speaker 2: her in a lead movie. I think she's adorable. Yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 2: let her out of the work, let her out of
- 14:32Speaker 2: the office. M two more things. I love the parade
- 14:37Speaker 2: of familiar faces, Laura Saltis, I always enjoy. I love
- 14:41Speaker 2: that Crystal Low was in this movie. Yeah, I know
- 14:45Speaker 2: you had told me a couple of weeks ago she
- 14:48Speaker 2: was in it, but she was not showing up on
- 14:50Speaker 2: the IMDb right, And I was so thankful spoiler that
- 14:55Speaker 2: she wasn't the bad guy, because it was clearly obvious
- 14:58Speaker 2: the person who was stilling things at the beginning was
- 15:02Speaker 2: a woman. Oh I would like to talk about that
- 15:04Speaker 2: in a moment, okay, And I was like, oh, no,
- 15:07Speaker 2: is it Crystal Low, Which would have been fine because
- 15:12Speaker 2: you can play against character, but whatever. I just was
- 15:16Speaker 2: glad that I got to see some Crystal Low on
- 15:18Speaker 2: my TV. And finally, Paul mcgillion once again plays a
- 15:29Speaker 2: real jerk. He was a jerk last week, he was
- 15:31Speaker 2: a jerk this week. I don't remember him being is
- 15:36Speaker 2: he a jerk. He's just so rough around the edge.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Is rough around the edge, like he's not pleasant, He's
- 15:43Speaker 2: not warm, No, not at all. My final like is
- 15:47Speaker 2: I did think the mystery kept me engaged. It was
- 15:51Speaker 2: a little bit convoluted away always, and I'm just making
- 15:56Speaker 2: peace with the fact that there's all They're gonna always
- 16:00Speaker 2: throw these details at me and just enjoy the ride. Yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 2: just enjoy the ride. I always have to tell myself,
- 16:07Speaker 2: you don't have to figure it out. Yeah, so it
- 16:11Speaker 2: does not matter if the electricity went out or so. Anyway,
- 16:18Speaker 2: those are my likes. Let's talk wishes. I have a few.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I only have two. Actually need too too. I wouldn't
- 16:25Speaker 2: mind more backstory on Michael. I love that Leo was
- 16:31Speaker 2: his ex. I didn't love that it was his ex wife.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I almost wish it was like his ex girlfriend. I
- 16:40Speaker 2: don't know. I was like, oh, they have all this
- 16:42Speaker 2: history and he's hiding from her, like as an ex bows,
- 16:46Speaker 2: I feel like you issue you would be like anyway.
- 16:51Speaker 2: But I also need some more backstory on Nelly too,
- 16:53Speaker 2: Like I don't remember the first movie because it's been
- 16:57Speaker 2: so long, but I don't remember any backstory on her
- 17:00Speaker 2: at all. No.
- 17:01Speaker 1: All I really know about Nellie is she writes the
- 17:03Speaker 1: Nelly Knows column and she knows everybody and knows everything.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And that's just kind of her thing is She's like
- 17:09Speaker 1: Bumbleton's the name of the town. I don't remember anyway,
- 17:12Speaker 1: that's her thing is that she knows everybody in the
- 17:14Speaker 1: same Vein the fact that Michael and his ex wife,
- 17:19Speaker 1: he's like, I gotta go have closure with her. What
- 17:23Speaker 1: have you been doing for the past several years since
- 17:24Speaker 1: you've been divorced? I don't understand.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, like how is your divorce? So like, okay, bye,
- 17:30Speaker 2: and we never just like, hey, let's move on peacefully
- 17:32Speaker 2: with our lives, no harm, no foul. I thought that
- 17:35Speaker 2: was odd. In the beginning of a movie, when Nellie
- 17:38Speaker 2: arrives at work, Fiona says like, how's it.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Going with Detective Dreamy? Have you seen him around? And
- 17:43Speaker 1: Ellie's like, oh, once in a while. Here's the problem
- 17:46Speaker 1: that is not the fault of the writers or the
- 17:48Speaker 1: director or anybody involved in the making of this movie,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and it is only on the back end. How long
- 17:53Speaker 1: has it been what's the timeline here, because it's been
- 17:56Speaker 1: two years since we got the first installment of Nelly
- 17:58Speaker 1: Know's mysteries. This movie was filmed a year ago in
- 18:02Speaker 1: April twenty twenty five. It's now March twenty twenty six
- 18:05Speaker 1: for anybody who's paying attention. And that's the only thing
- 18:09Speaker 1: I think that's working against this movie is that it's
- 18:11Speaker 1: been so long that even you and I, who do
- 18:14Speaker 1: this for eight job, had to revisit our review and
- 18:17Speaker 1: be like, what's happening here? And so that works against
- 18:21Speaker 1: this a little bit. But I thought, overall this was
- 18:25Speaker 1: great and I would like to talk.
- 18:26Speaker 2: To you to see that. All right, go ahead, this is.
- 18:30Speaker 1: My Crystal Low thought. I watched this on the screener
- 18:33Speaker 1: and the still image of the movie on the screener
- 18:36Speaker 1: is of Nellie and Michael with the character of Crystal
- 18:40Speaker 1: Low standing behind them, like, oh, oh, so when we
- 18:44Speaker 1: the scene, That's how I knew Crystal Low was in
- 18:46Speaker 1: it before I had seen it. When the movie opens,
- 18:49Speaker 1: the first thing we see is a small obviously a
- 18:53Speaker 1: woman breaking into the home, and I thought, oh, that's
- 18:58Speaker 1: Crystal Low because it looked like Crystal Low in what
- 19:03Speaker 1: we could see. And then we hear her speak to
- 19:05Speaker 1: the dog, and I'm like, oh, it's a woman's voice
- 19:07Speaker 1: that's a woman must be Crystal Low. Come to find
- 19:08Speaker 1: out it's not Crystal Low, but someone who, while masked,
- 19:11Speaker 1: could appear to be like Crystal Low.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, threw me off, is all I'm saying. On purpose.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I'm sure, yes, I have two other little ones.
- 19:20Speaker 1: At the beginning of the movie, she arrives at work
- 19:22Speaker 1: and she's like, Fiona's like, you got fifteen minutes, and
- 19:26Speaker 1: she's like, I actually have thirty, right, fine, But then
- 19:30Speaker 1: the widow calls makes her come over, which is which
- 19:34Speaker 1: is odd, but she just she leaves so she like
- 19:36Speaker 1: doesn't get her column turned in. She's like, I gotta
- 19:38Speaker 1: go and meet you with the widow, and I wanted
- 19:39Speaker 1: her to be like yo widow, let me finish up here.
- 19:41Speaker 2: And like yo widow. Yeah yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Anyway, the fact that they make it a point that
- 19:48Speaker 1: they're like your columns do and then she's like just
- 19:51Speaker 1: kidding you gotta go, yeah, supervise a dinner party.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah, who's odd? Why did you see that? Are the
- 20:01Speaker 2: manner look like the same one from the wedding cottage,
- 20:05Speaker 2: the maybe the wedding college. I don't know if it
- 20:07Speaker 2: is or not. It's dreamy. It's just dreamy looking. It's
- 20:11Speaker 2: giving Nancy Myers on the outside, like I want to
- 20:16Speaker 2: be there. You mentioned Nelly's car earlier. One thing I
- 20:24Speaker 2: noticed is on her car as well as Detective Hogan's
- 20:30Speaker 2: car on the front the license plate, which were both
- 20:33Speaker 2: off center. They were like mounted off center. Like interesting. Yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: I just thought that was strange. Yes, that's all. My
- 20:44Speaker 2: only other did you see that is the widow keeps
- 20:46Speaker 2: a loaded gun in the hallway. You know, this is
- 20:50Speaker 2: a very good point. I bumped on that too when
- 20:53Speaker 2: they talked about it. It's loaded. I was twenty twenty six.
- 20:56Speaker 2: What are you doing? I know, I know in an
- 20:58Speaker 2: unlocked case. Yeah, it's very irresponsible gun ownership, in my opinion.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Send your emails to Hello at Girls Gone Hallmark dot com.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I'm the in Portland. Yeah, like we're in a very
- 21:10Speaker 1: progressive area. I know not all of Oregon is progressive,
- 21:12Speaker 1: but Portland is. Anyway, what did you rate Nellie Knows Mysteries?
- 21:16Speaker 2: You know, I really liked it. I gave it four
- 21:17Speaker 2: point two five stars, gave it four stores. I thought
- 21:19Speaker 2: it was great.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, rate loved them. I actually want more
- 21:23Speaker 1: of these me too. This, I would say, is my
- 21:26Speaker 1: favorite of the currently airing mystery series.
- 21:28Speaker 2: You know, if I can't have the Cases of Mystery Lane,
- 21:31Speaker 2: I will take Nellie Know's Mysteries.
