- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily pad production.
- 0:04Speaker 2: This is the team up play show podcast.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Previously in the city of bones.
- 0:36Speaker 2: When you crest and come over the highest skyscraper in
- 0:42Speaker 2: the city, which is probably the highest thing is maybe
- 0:45Speaker 2: the space barge, maybe there's one or two buildings that
- 0:48Speaker 2: are higher, your flight star disappears. Then tell me, Rigel,
- 0:54Speaker 2: wielder of starfire, what would you have of her? She
- 0:58Speaker 2: will free you from your curse. but also can allow
- 1:03Speaker 2: new power to be yours. This isn't good. Her mind has...
- 1:12Speaker 2: It's a traumatic brain injury, and I don't know what
- 1:16Speaker 2: she'll be like if and when she wakes, but she's
- 1:20Speaker 2: going to be out for quite some time. And she'll...
- 1:23Speaker 2: Will she have her memories? Like I said, I don't know.
- 1:28Speaker 2: With this kind of injury... There's no telling who will
- 1:31Speaker 2: wake up. Your body's awake. Back in Jameer's living room.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Is the lamp still hot?
- 1:41Speaker 2: Standing over you is a concerned-looking Maria, both the Veniam
- 1:48Speaker 2: Knight brothers, and Jackie. Ugh. It's been almost a month
- 1:53Speaker 2: in the real world, and the election is in three days. Oh, Jesus. Oh, Jesus.
- 2:19Speaker 2: The heroes of New Babel wake from a journey within Jason.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I was in my friend.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Jason's journey.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Where's the halal homies?
- 2:31Speaker 2: Jason was forced to confront the compartments he'd been creating
- 2:36Speaker 2: with the help of his friends. The murdering version of
- 2:40Speaker 2: the paper phantom has been defeated. You wake here in
- 2:44Speaker 2: Jameer's den and all your friends are around you. Before
- 2:47Speaker 2: the hubbub of worried questions begin, how is Jason feeling
- 2:53Speaker 2: in this moment about the work that's been done within?
- 2:57Speaker 2: What's new and what feels the same? Oh boy. I, oh,
- 3:06Speaker 2: I murdered a man. I hurt all those people. It
- 3:11Speaker 2: was me. And he's going to throw up a bunch
- 3:14Speaker 2: of black ink. Whoa. The carp. The carp. Let it out, buddy.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You're awake. You're awake. You're awake.
- 3:24Speaker 3: We're going to have to throw that carp. Why am
- 3:27Speaker 3: I so fucking hungry?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Because you guys have been, this is Jackie, freaking out.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Because you guys have been out for almost a month.
- 3:37Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 3:38Speaker 1: A month?
- 3:39Speaker 2: No, no. Oh, man. Yes, almost a whole month. It's like,
- 3:45Speaker 2: it's wild.
- 3:46Speaker 4: What?
- 3:47Speaker 1: I look down and see that I've been put in
- 3:50Speaker 1: my corgi pajamas and we're in the cots in the nest.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Did you guys like bathe us.
- 3:57Speaker 2: In a whole month? You took care of us? What happened? Paige,
- 4:03Speaker 2: where's Paige? Paige hasn't been by. Well, she's up? No,
- 4:11Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just Jackie.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Have my family been fucking scared.
- 4:18Speaker 2: To think I'm dead? I went by your family's, Jameer,
- 4:23Speaker 2: because I know them, and they seemed okay. I mean,
- 4:26Speaker 2: I've never just disappeared. I told them you were okay.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Did Dirk or someone talk to my family or Jill
- 4:32Speaker 1: or Gabe?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Dirk is there. Yes, I told your family that you
- 4:37Speaker 2: were safe. I didn't want to freak them out. We
- 4:41Speaker 2: didn't know what was going on. But you were breathing
- 4:44Speaker 2: and your bodies weren't deteriorating without food or anything. You
- 4:47Speaker 2: seemed to be sustained somehow.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Did a small fucking weirdo child run in here scurrying
- 4:54Speaker 4: and telling you about shit in the sewers in the
- 4:57Speaker 4: electrical grid?
- 4:59Speaker 2: Maria is there.
- 5:00Speaker 1: No.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well, it would have been nice to miss her scurrying.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Were we looking for that? We were just waiting for
- 5:08Speaker 2: an update. Yeah. That's okay. Oh, God. We had so
- 5:14Speaker 2: much shit.
- 5:15Speaker 3: We were going to fuck with those councilmen who didn't.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Wait, we got to vote.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Are we too late to vote?
- 5:24Speaker 2: I already missed the first election for you.
- 5:26Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 5:27Speaker 2: The election is in three days. There's still time.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I can still get my sticker.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Hang on.
- 5:34Speaker 4: I run over to any reflective surface and look at
- 5:37Speaker 4: my face. How's my mustache coming in?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Roll a guts check.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Is my body a reflective surface?
- 5:49Speaker 2: I think that's up to you. You have opal light.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I feel like it'd be like a fun house.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Mirror okay nice yeah I'll just like grab your head
- 5:56Speaker 2: and use your forehead try and look at.
- 5:59Speaker 4: My mustache that's a seven oh yeah I gotta roll
- 6:04Speaker 4: on a guts check not.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Bad a simple check because you're an adult man and
- 6:09Speaker 2: you haven't you've been out for a month so and
- 6:13Speaker 2: a month I rolled a four oh.
- 6:17Speaker 4: My god it's like very sparse and shitty.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah look at that buddy It's.
- 6:24Speaker 2: All I ever wanted.
- 6:25Speaker 4: It's too bad Arthur's not here to see it.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Rock fist comes up to you, pats you on the back.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I learned that patting while you were out. Pat, pat.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Feel good? Not 100%, but thank you. You're welcome.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Hey, you deserve all the pats, buddy. That was.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I didn't do anything.
- 6:56Speaker 1: What we went through in there was what you went
- 6:58Speaker 1: through in there.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I do not feel very good. So it's like a
- 7:02Speaker 2: reverse Narnia.
- 7:05Speaker 3: All that stuff happened in there for us pretty quick,
- 7:08Speaker 3: but out here so much time has passed.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I haven't listened to that VHS.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Jackie says, it's been a short time for you guys?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You didn't feel that long. like hours maybe a couple
- 7:21Speaker 2: few hours i mean it was dreamlike so time was
- 7:23Speaker 2: squishy but it we never like went to bed and
- 7:26Speaker 2: woke up and we.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Were in bed where were you oh it's hard to
- 7:33Speaker 4: explain but i've just been calling it the paper dimension
- 7:36Speaker 4: okay wait.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I look at the signals in jason's body is the
- 7:41Speaker 1: book still there The book is absolutely still there. You've
- 7:45Speaker 1: got the book, so what did you do?
- 7:49Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 7:51Speaker 1: What happened in there?
- 7:53Speaker 4: Well, I definitely didn't pull us in, but somehow when
- 7:58Speaker 4: Rigel killed the Phantom, it let us out.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I'm not 100% sure. Did I kill it? Yeah, you
- 8:07Speaker 3: still got your shit, right?
- 8:08Speaker 4: Paper? Paper?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Uh, I'll try. Uh, paper on. The paper wraps around you,
- 8:18Speaker 2: as it always has. Well, since you got your powers,
- 8:21Speaker 2: of course. Sure, sure.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Aw, a little baby wrapped in paper. Pretty cute.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Maybe I had the paper powers in me all along.
- 8:31Speaker 3: No, no, I think the book in your chest probably
- 8:36Speaker 3: has something.
- 8:37Speaker 2: To do with it.
- 8:38Speaker 4: You know what's kind of bullshit is you guys are
- 8:40Speaker 4: like children of destiny. And I'm just like, I got
- 8:43Speaker 4: randomly shot.
- 8:44Speaker 2: You know?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Well, hey, you were in the prophecy from the scurry
- 8:48Speaker 1: baby suit.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah, as a fucking tree. God damn it. They're awesome.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Why am I so fucking angry? I don't know. I would,
- 8:57Speaker 2: to defend myself.
- 8:58Speaker 1: He actually is just laughing. Like, it's great to see
- 9:01Speaker 1: you angry, actually.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Don't. Look at my mustache.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I poke him in the book. No.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Ow.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I'm more of a grandchild of destiny. I feel like
- 9:13Speaker 3: my grandma was the chosen one. I'm just kind of
- 9:16Speaker 3: drafting off her chosen one-iness. I haven't done the work.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I just got to make some wishes. But anyway, your
- 9:25Speaker 3: journey is valid and your struggle is real.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Shut the fuck up.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I'm trying to be supportive. Can you print a t-shirt
- 9:34Speaker 1: that says that?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Right now, it's not easy.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I'm not printing anything right now. We got work to do, okay? Yeah, yeah, okay. God.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I need therapy so bad. I gotta see my mom. Fuck. Oh, yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Gotta check in with some people. Like, how's the city?
- 9:54Speaker 1: I look around at the Rockfest and Dirk and Jackie
- 9:57Speaker 1: and Maria.
- 9:58Speaker 2: The city?
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah, like, were you guys able to keep things afloat
- 10:02Speaker 3: while we were down?
- 10:04Speaker 2: Did you think we were dead? Maria says, there has been...
- 10:09Speaker 2: I don't know how to say it. The city has
- 10:13Speaker 2: taken a break from... They... They kind of... came together
- 10:20Speaker 2: in Missing You. Anything that's gone on, Rock Fist, Everwing,
- 10:28Speaker 2: Dark Blade, have been able to figure it out. And
- 10:32Speaker 2: there's a new guy. What?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Is it?
- 10:38Speaker 2: He's been sliding around on these strange slides he creates,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and then he shoots hexagons at people.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Yes!
- 10:48Speaker 3: No way to know who that is.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that could be anyone.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Oh, he's out there doing it.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he popped up maybe because you've been gone, but
- 10:56Speaker 2: the city has missed you. They're calling for you. People
- 11:01Speaker 2: are wearing costumes and holding up signs. Where have our
- 11:07Speaker 2: heroes gone type of thing. I got to get out there.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Maybe let's eat and then get out there.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Shit, yeah. Fuck. The halal homies. So hungry. Did you
- 11:18Speaker 2: guys eat it when we went down? Rockfish says. Did
- 11:21Speaker 2: it go to waste? Rockfish says, yes.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I ate.
- 11:24Speaker 1: That's good.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Somebody should enjoy it. Thank God. That was good? Yes.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Better than going to waste.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I would hate to hear that good food went to waste.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It was good for me.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So good.
- 11:38Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Get me the mayo, the cracked pepper, some bread, and
- 11:41Speaker 3: whatever meat is in the fridge.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Right away, Rockfest says. Thank you, Rockfest.
- 11:48Speaker 1: What of the mayor? What are people saying he's up to?
- 11:53Speaker 1: Or what is he doing?
- 11:55Speaker 2: Everwing says we haven't heard from him. My understanding is
- 11:59Speaker 2: that he's still in ask in prison. Any sightings of
- 12:04Speaker 2: your sister, Darkblade? Or contact?
- 12:07Speaker 5: No.
- 12:08Speaker 2: None.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Any recent Wraith activity that's worth noting? People have been
- 12:16Speaker 2: leaving the shoot alone. And so, no. No Wraith.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I mean, I grab a hoodie from off the coat
- 12:22Speaker 4: rack filled with large oversized hoodies, a rice cracker, and
- 12:27Speaker 4: just in my mouth start heading outside, just leaving.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Oh, hey, hey. I got to check on Paige.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Jameer's giving himself a birdbath in the kitchen sink and saying,
- 12:41Speaker 3: I understand.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I'll be on comms. You'll be on comms? All right,
- 12:46Speaker 2: all right. We'll check in later.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Good luck.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Be safe. The three of you come to and are
- 12:52Speaker 2: attempting to deal with the new reality of the city.
- 12:56Speaker 2: As you go off your separate ways, trying to see family,
- 13:00Speaker 2: trying to find Paige, here's... The lowdown. Here's what you
- 13:05Speaker 2: get through just wandering the city again. After an event
- 13:09Speaker 2: like the explosion of the mayor's skyscraper, you may worry
- 13:13Speaker 2: that with no leader, the city might devolve into chaos.
- 13:17Speaker 2: But as you get back into the city, you realize
- 13:20Speaker 2: that's not the case at all. The whole city saw
- 13:23Speaker 2: Rigel holding up that building by himself. They saw Quanta
- 13:27Speaker 2: make sure that the judge ratified the vote to give
- 13:30Speaker 2: the people a chance. They saw the phantom saving lives
- 13:34Speaker 2: from inside the building. Something powerful happens when you love
- 13:39Speaker 2: your enemies. The city saw you save yours. And they've
- 13:44Speaker 2: been celebrating you. Like I said, costumes have been popping up. Phantom, Rigel,
- 13:50Speaker 2: and Quanta costumes all. There have been... Jameer, you pass
- 13:55Speaker 2: a comic book store next to the shoot. You see...
- 13:59Speaker 2: Issue one of Rigel the Paper Phantom and Quanta. Gotta
- 14:02Speaker 2: get three of those. There have been parties in your honor,
- 14:06Speaker 2: signs celebrating your deeds. When you had not been seen
- 14:09Speaker 2: for two weeks, the city came together to await your return. Yes,
- 14:15Speaker 2: there was chaos here and there, but the general feeling
- 14:17Speaker 2: was that we're going to be good until the heroes
- 14:20Speaker 2: get back. The mayor has been kept in prison, you
- 14:23Speaker 2: find out. Some of his staff as well, including... taylor's
- 14:28Speaker 2: killer katherine jameer you find out that that was thanks
- 14:31Speaker 2: to jackie you can have a conversation with her about
- 14:34Speaker 2: that later the true america gang has slunk back into
- 14:38Speaker 2: the old city hall and has kept quiet after their
- 14:41Speaker 2: defeat you all sought to make the city a better
- 14:44Speaker 2: place with your heroism some targeted use of your powers
- 14:49Speaker 2: and inspiring the people to achieve higher standards it seems
- 14:53Speaker 2: you've done so you still.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Gotta turn george olsen's money into dust It's on the list.
- 14:59Speaker 2: So the one thing that has been raging and raging
- 15:03Speaker 2: is the mayoral race. This is happening in three days,
- 15:07Speaker 2: the election. Yum, yum, yum. As you watch some of
- 15:12Speaker 2: the news and catch up on some of the, catch
- 15:16Speaker 2: up on magazines and newspapers, watch some news, here's what
- 15:19Speaker 2: you find out. The Soma campaign has been working hard
- 15:22Speaker 2: to build its base. They started testing a ground-based morphogenetic
- 15:28Speaker 2: field generator in no man's land west of the city.
- 15:32Speaker 2: It's housed in the very end of the chute and
- 15:36Speaker 2: is beginning to pour forth green from there. It's a
- 15:40Speaker 2: striking image that's used in a lot of... Just like
- 15:44Speaker 2: out in the field now, not in the dump. Exactly.
- 15:48Speaker 2: It's a striking image used in a lot of Cordula's
- 15:52Speaker 2: marketing campaign. Is that safe? It's my least favorite kind
- 15:56Speaker 2: of field generator, I'll say. What's the problem? She's been
- 15:59Speaker 2: touring the city with her son, making speeches in all
- 16:02Speaker 2: the neighborhoods, bringing along the fresh produce of the biodome
- 16:06Speaker 2: and now no man's land. It seems like her message
- 16:09Speaker 2: has got to the gangs as well. You guys were
- 16:12Speaker 2: privy to that conversation. There is very little crime that
- 16:16Speaker 2: isn't regulated by the gangs, and during her campaign, they
- 16:20Speaker 2: go pretty silent. They have reached their people, and the
- 16:24Speaker 2: movement for Cordula as a mayor feels powerfully grounded in
- 16:30Speaker 2: the sweat and tears of the real people of New Babel.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Her message is simple but potent. Wealth and power to
- 16:38Speaker 2: the people. A New Babel for New Babel. Henry Hilland
- 16:42Speaker 2: has been struggling. Tag terrorism, Tag being the true America gang,
- 16:48Speaker 2: has been an obstacle for him. They do everything they
- 16:51Speaker 2: do in his name He has vehemently disavowed them. You
- 16:55Speaker 2: guys find tape recordings of that and newspaper articles. He
- 16:59Speaker 2: called for their arrest. He personally led a raid on
- 17:04Speaker 2: Old City Hall attempting to get them out. See him
- 17:07Speaker 2: in a Kevlar vest with a gun in his hand
- 17:12Speaker 2: in some of the pictures trying to rush into City Hall.
- 17:15Speaker 2: If you remember, he used to be a police officer.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Despite these hurdles, he's made some very clever moves. He's
- 17:21Speaker 2: worked hard to use his wealth to rebuild the library,
- 17:24Speaker 2: fix hospitals, cover any damage the city has taken through
- 17:27Speaker 2: recent battles, including the blowing up of the mayor's building.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And this is the big one. With the support of
- 17:33Speaker 2: Cordula and the new city council, the new city council,
- 17:37Speaker 2: Cordula and... Henry decided that the new city council would
- 17:41Speaker 2: be those poor people that Mayor Stephenson had forced to
- 17:46Speaker 2: be the false city council. They had been found in
- 17:50Speaker 2: the building being held there. But with the support of
- 17:54Speaker 2: Cordula and the new city council, Henry Hillen has begun
- 17:58Speaker 2: to print American money and set up an exchange program
- 18:02Speaker 2: for new Babylonians. If you remember, that was one of
- 18:03Speaker 2: his major claims that the mayor was hiding the American
- 18:07Speaker 2: mint from From New Babel. So he is immediately delivering
- 18:11Speaker 2: on that claim. Oh, boy.
- 18:13Speaker 1: We got New Babel bucks. We got Phantom bucks. We
- 18:15Speaker 1: got American bucks.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Gotta get that exchange rate. Yes. And it is a
- 18:20Speaker 2: generous exchange rate program. So if you bring in your
- 18:24Speaker 2: New Babel bucks, it's a 50% increase. What if you
- 18:28Speaker 2: bring in your Phantom bucks? Yeah, what if Phantom bucks were?
- 18:30Speaker 2: You can try. There's also a small flat bonus taken
- 18:36Speaker 2: from the mayor's immense wealth that has been hoarded in there,
- 18:39Speaker 2: and it's being given back to the people. If you
- 18:42Speaker 2: come in to change out all your money, you can
- 18:44Speaker 2: get a tiny mayor bonus as well. Deep down, though,
- 18:48Speaker 2: his message remains the same, to become a part of
- 18:52Speaker 2: America again. This is the city you wake up to.
- 18:57Speaker 2: You have three days until the election. We're not going
- 19:00Speaker 2: to go into like full downtime, but like these three
- 19:03Speaker 2: days are yours to do with what you will. What's
- 19:07Speaker 2: the priority, gang?
- 19:08Speaker 1: I mean, we got to vote.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Like it'll make a difference.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Before we vote, I think immediately I would eat my sandwich.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I would, again, I'd want to kind of like, what's
- 19:25Speaker 3: it called?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Unmask life almost.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I would want to like, Ask Jackie, like, what lie
- 19:32Speaker 3: have you been telling my family? And then I want
- 19:35Speaker 3: to get over there and see my people.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I would want to check in with my parents
- 19:41Speaker 1: and Gabe and Jill and then maybe just like be
- 19:45Speaker 1: watching the news for like when I see like Joshua
- 19:48Speaker 1: out taking care of a problem. and just like go out,
- 19:51Speaker 1: ask Quanta and help. And that's how I find him again.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Great.
- 19:56Speaker 4: I'm certainly interested in hunting down page, seeing what her
- 19:59Speaker 4: situation is. If she's woken up, that's like priority number
- 20:02Speaker 4: one for me. I would like to check on the
- 20:05Speaker 4: status of the horrible glowing egg and Under the city.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I joined for that.
- 20:11Speaker 4: And then since I don't have anyone like that I
- 20:16Speaker 4: could really talk to, I guess like Manny would be
- 20:19Speaker 4: maybe like the only philosophy person I know who would
- 20:23Speaker 4: be like maybe understand what's going on. Who knows both
- 20:26Speaker 4: Jason and the Phantom?
- 20:27Speaker 2: I don't know. Unless you have better ideas about who
- 20:30Speaker 2: to talk to. I got no one.
- 20:32Speaker 3: This is where I wish we had a mental health
- 20:34Speaker 3: real life advertiser we could plug. Some telehealth service.
- 20:41Speaker 2: But we don't have Jason. You're not getting a dime
- 20:45Speaker 2: from us. Not a red cent.
- 20:46Speaker 1: New fab letter help.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 20:53Speaker 1: No, don't say wow to that. Let's say it's a
- 20:56Speaker 1: patronizing love because that's what I deserve.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Wow.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I can plug in anytime and check
- 21:03Speaker 1: on the power station.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah, all right. Well, yeah, you seem like you really
- 21:11Speaker 2: want to plug in.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like already reaching for an outlet in the nest. Yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'll just see what's going on.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Maybe we could like walk down there and look with
- 21:19Speaker 2: our fucking eyeballs.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, we could do that too, but I could, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I could get like a little head start peek. Okay. Okay.
- 21:27Speaker 2: We can walk. Okay, just chill out with the electricity stuff.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You're like shaking right now. No, I put my hands
- 21:36Speaker 2: on my legs.
- 21:38Speaker 4: No, I'm not.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Okay. Look at my mustache.
- 21:43Speaker 1: What mustache? Aha!
- 21:47Speaker 2: Jason is not happy.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I see your beautiful month-long grown mustache.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Look, I grew up In the system. I've seen this before.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I think you might have a problem.
- 22:00Speaker 3: What?
- 22:01Speaker 1: With what?
- 22:04Speaker 2: Well, whenever you're ready to admit it. I got you.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I don't have a problem. Let's go in the freaking tubes.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go in the tubes. I don't have a problem.
- 22:19Speaker 1: You have a problem.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Guy's going to check on the fire rock thing. Yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 2: see if it's down there. Yeah, you go down there
- 22:30Speaker 2: to the spot and nothing has changed with the fire rock.
- 22:35Speaker 2: It's still a big old fire rock that's kind of
- 22:37Speaker 2: pulsing with red light in the veins.
- 22:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I guess that's good, question mark?
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's not feeding off of the city
- 22:48Speaker 1: still or anymore since we stopped that.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't love that it's just down here, but...
- 22:55Speaker 2: I don't know if there's anything we can do.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Um, I could sense again. Cause before I, there was
- 23:00Speaker 1: like still some kind of personhood in there. I can
- 23:03Speaker 1: see what I can see.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yeah. I think developed.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I think without a role, you maintain the same information
- 23:09Speaker 2: that like there is some humanity left in this thing
- 23:15Speaker 2: and it is growing.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I can't, I can't really get a good read on it.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So I'm just going to, I'm just going to take some.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Power over here. I don't think you need any more power.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I just, you know, I want to get a good
- 23:25Speaker 1: read on it.
- 23:26Speaker 2: What are you going to do with the power?
- 23:28Speaker 1: It's going to help me see inside the rock cocoon.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Are you sure?
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Well, if that's what you said is true, then I
- 23:40Speaker 2: guess I believe you.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I feel I grab onto a nub. What were we
- 23:45Speaker 1: calling them? Nubs?
- 23:46Speaker 2: Nubbins. Nubbins.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I grab into a nubbin just to... Just to, yeah,
- 23:52Speaker 1: to get some, to feel some of that city power.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, you're able to. Even though I can see
- 23:59Speaker 2: in the cocoon without it. Latch on to the city
- 24:03Speaker 2: grid and tempted again to push out into the rest
- 24:07Speaker 2: of the continent. Everything that's connected.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yeah. I want to see the world again.
- 24:13Speaker 2: You do. I just freeze up. Just do it crazy.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Just freeze up.
- 24:19Speaker 4: This whole time too, Jason has just been still in
- 24:20Speaker 4: a hoodie, street clothes, hands in pockets. I'm just going
- 24:24Speaker 4: to put a big, like very specific, like paper talisman,
- 24:29Speaker 4: like a piece of tape that you'd put over a door,
- 24:31Speaker 4: you know?
- 24:32Speaker 2: And so if the cocoon rips, I just want to know. Sure.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Smart.
- 24:37Speaker 4: I mark it with specific magical rune symbols that I've
- 24:40Speaker 4: seen from the book. And just, if these break anywhere
- 24:45Speaker 4: in the city, hopefully should get notified.
- 24:51Speaker 2: You were out for a month. I'm just joking.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You did scare me. Yeah, there's still somebody in there.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Great.
- 25:02Speaker 1: The world is so big.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Are you 100% sure that it's healthy to plug into
- 25:10Speaker 4: the entire grid of the United States power system?
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Lucy the scurrier said there's room.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Okay, you're just acting kind of weird.
- 25:20Speaker 1: This is coming from you?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yeah. So I should know.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Weird how?
- 25:25Speaker 2: Weird how?
- 25:26Speaker 4: You just seem like desperate for more juice.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I mean, it's good juice. Right.
- 25:34Speaker 4: But if you wanted to stop, you could stop.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 2: So could you stop? Yes. Great. I mean, like I'm asking.
- 25:42Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Earlier you said, we don't need to plug in. We
- 25:44Speaker 1: can walk down there.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And then you did plug in just then.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Well, just now, because I wanted to see, because it
- 25:49Speaker 1: gave me the extra juice so I could see in
- 25:51Speaker 1: the rock, the lava rock cocoon thing.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Just promise me you won't do it anymore.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Why?
- 25:58Speaker 2: Because you could stop. You said you could.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I can stop. But what if, like, it helps, though?
- 26:04Speaker 2: Helps me do stuff.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Helps me be more powerful. And what if that's what
- 26:08Speaker 1: I have to do to help the city?
- 26:09Speaker 2: I don't know. More power isn't always a good thing. Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 2: that's just that.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Gets to her a little bit with where she's come from.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you're right. You, yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 1: You're right about that.
- 26:25Speaker 2: That's the first time you've ever said that?
- 26:27Speaker 1: That you're right about something?
- 26:28Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Can't be. I think so.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Can't possibly be.
- 26:31Speaker 2: If only someone was recording it, but I think.
- 26:33Speaker 1: You could listen to me. In 35 plus hours of
- 26:35Speaker 1: our interactions.
- 26:38Speaker 4: In all the episodes of our life, I don't think
- 26:40Speaker 4: you've ever said I've been right before. Well, you're right
- 26:44Speaker 4: about this.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Jameer, you wanted to check in with Jackie first or
- 26:52Speaker 2: go home first?
- 26:54Speaker 3: So, yeah, while Jameer is splashing red wine vinegar on
- 26:58Speaker 3: his sandwich, he's saying, Jackie, guys, I'm so sorry. I
- 27:05Speaker 3: must have scared you guys shitless. That was crazy. Jackie,
- 27:10Speaker 3: what lie have you been telling my parents as to
- 27:12Speaker 3: why I disappeared?
- 27:14Speaker 2: I told him, you're not going to like it. Oh, shit.
- 27:19Speaker 3: I mean, you had to do what you had to do,
- 27:22Speaker 3: but what did you do?
- 27:23Speaker 2: I told him you were hooking up with a girl
- 27:25Speaker 2: in SAS and that you didn't want to leave. What?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Too much fucking. I got pussy whipped for a month? Yeah,
- 27:38Speaker 2: that's what I know. It's weekly. I know it's weak,
- 27:41Speaker 2: but after the first week, like after the first few days,
- 27:45Speaker 2: I really had to commit to the lie, you know? Shit. Okay.
- 27:52Speaker 2: It's not a bad one for the first few days.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I can actually work with that. I think, um, thank you. Genuinely.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Thank you for saying something. I'm sure they weren't happy,
- 28:05Speaker 3: but it's better than nothing.
- 28:09Speaker 2: And, and Jamir, um, I found Catherine. Jameer stops. A
- 28:18Speaker 2: little bit of salami hangs from his mouth. You guys
- 28:23Speaker 2: left so quickly after the mayor's building fiasco that I
- 28:31Speaker 2: stayed there to do some cleanup with the Venium guys
- 28:36Speaker 2: and I found her. I punched her a few times.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And I wasn't super proud of that. And then I
- 28:45Speaker 2: took her to Elaine. And she's in jail. So she's
- 28:52Speaker 2: been in prison. Yeah. I was... I know I wasn't
- 28:57Speaker 2: as close to it all as you, but I was
- 28:58Speaker 2: as close to Taylor as you, you know. Yeah. No,
- 29:02Speaker 2: thank you. Thank you for doing that. Thank you for
- 29:06Speaker 2: getting her off the streets.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 2: She was a danger. Okay. Where's my costume? Oh, we
- 29:16Speaker 2: put them all in the nest. Okay. I'm just going to.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Do a fly around, make my presence felt, and then
- 29:25Speaker 3: I'm going to go to home. So thank you guys
- 29:29Speaker 3: for taking care of us and the house and the city.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Thank you. It means the world to me. Thank you,
- 29:37Speaker 2: says Rockfist. You can... be asleep for a whole month.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I can I don't like to it was on accident.
- 29:48Speaker 2: You know okay thank you can I sleep for a
- 29:51Speaker 2: month I wouldn't try um okay yeah Jameer rinses off
- 29:59Speaker 2: his dirty fingers in the sink, runs down to the nest,
- 30:05Speaker 2: changes quickly, flies through the tubes, and hits that new
- 30:12Speaker 2: babble air. And I do a.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Little zip around the city. I'm flying low. I'm wanting
- 30:19Speaker 3: to be seen.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and as you do, you notice that there's quite
- 30:26Speaker 2: the reaction to you being back. People cheer for you
- 30:29Speaker 2: as you fly by, shouting Rigel. And, you know, the
- 30:35Speaker 2: whispers of, he's back. Not the whispers, but the hollers
- 30:39Speaker 2: and yells of, he's back. They're back. The heroes are back.
- 30:45Speaker 2: As you blitz by. I'm back, baby. We're back.
- 30:49Speaker 3: All of us.
- 30:49Speaker 2: We're back.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Rigel's flying around.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Also, while I'm flying, just to test it, Rachel's going
- 30:58Speaker 3: to see how high he can fly.
- 31:01Speaker 2: With his new mistress giving him powers. Classic Pisces thing
- 31:07Speaker 2: to do.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Pisces always be flying so high.
- 31:12Speaker 1: They're flying high.
- 31:12Speaker 2: To test their new mistress powers. Jameer, you climb and
- 31:19Speaker 2: you climb. You look to your left, look to your right.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Start passing buildings higher and higher. Skyscrapers. You get past
- 31:30Speaker 2: the space barge, which is the highest thing in the city.
- 31:36Speaker 2: And you keep going.
- 31:44Speaker 3: I'm going to just keep going to the upper, lower, upper, lower, upper,
- 31:50Speaker 3: ducker atmosphere.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I don't know. The upper decker atmosphere. The upper decker.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I think he said ducker. Yeah, dude.
- 31:55Speaker 1: The upper decker.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I did. I said it. Well, hang on. An upper
- 31:58Speaker 2: decker is when you poop in the top part of
- 32:00Speaker 2: a toilet.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Correct.
- 32:01Speaker 2: What's an upper ducker? Is that when you put a
- 32:03Speaker 2: duck in the top part of the toilet?
- 32:05Speaker 1: So cute. But you have to leave it open so
- 32:07Speaker 1: you can paddle around.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but then when you flush, sometimes a feather gets
- 32:10Speaker 2: in the bowl and you're like, where's that feather from?
- 32:12Speaker 2: Hilarious prank. You got upper ducked. I got duckled. Jameer.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I got to sit in the duck chair. Love getting duckled. Jameer,
- 32:26Speaker 2: you get up to the ducker atmosphere and you start
- 32:30Speaker 2: to get cold and the air starts to thin and
- 32:36Speaker 2: your body you know like soon you'll start taking damage
- 32:39Speaker 2: and your body won't maintain itself through the atmosphere but
- 32:44Speaker 2: you get high.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Okay this is awesome let's go and yeah i i
- 32:51Speaker 3: tilt my flight star back down you tilt your flight
- 32:54Speaker 3: star back down you cover You cover your head and
- 32:58Speaker 3: your arms with blue starfire as you ignite and burst
- 33:05Speaker 3: back into the Ducker atmosphere or whatever.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Great.
- 33:10Speaker 3: And then, yeah, go toward the chute, change secretly, head home,
- 33:16Speaker 3: and knock on the door.
- 33:18Speaker 2: We'll jump back to you in a minute. Jason, first
- 33:20Speaker 2: thing you want to do? Page, please. Go see Page. Page, please. Yeah,
- 33:26Speaker 2: I'll go.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I'll go perhaps to the hospital, maybe like outside of
- 33:30Speaker 4: visiting hours and sneak in, just trying not to be seen. Again,
- 33:35Speaker 4: street clothes, hoodie, but using paper to badge my way
- 33:40Speaker 4: in and climb through windows and see if she's still asleep.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Jason, you slip through into the space barge infirmary, which
- 33:50Speaker 2: is enormous. It's basically like a a hospital, and they
- 33:54Speaker 2: operated as such for the people of the chute and
- 33:56Speaker 2: the station. The page that you had built within was
- 34:03Speaker 2: awake when you made it to her tower. This page
- 34:09Speaker 2: is still in a coma, sleeping.
- 34:12Speaker 4: I don't know if you can hear me, or if
- 34:17Speaker 4: you even know who I am, but I just wanted
- 34:24Speaker 4: to come and tell you I'm the paper phantom and
- 34:29Speaker 4: I love you. And if I have to keep one
- 34:33Speaker 4: of those things and lose the other, I'll keep you.
- 34:39Speaker 4: I kiss her on the forehead and I jump out
- 34:42Speaker 4: a window.
- 34:44Speaker 2: As you open the window to jump out, roll.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Break the glass and jump out the fucking door.
- 34:50Speaker 2: I'm out. Time to die. I said the thing, I'm done.
- 34:56Speaker 2: I said it. Roll a spirit check, Phantom. And you
- 35:01Speaker 2: can choose here if you added any powers to that
- 35:04Speaker 2: kiss or if it was just....
- 35:07Speaker 1: An empowered kiss. We can empowered kiss.
- 35:11Speaker 2: A kiss of life.
- 35:13Speaker 1: That's sexy.
- 35:15Speaker 2: I kiss your fucking ass. It was a platonic forehead kiss.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Kissing with lightning reflexes?
- 35:24Speaker 4: Okay, we can step out of this for just a second.
- 35:27Speaker 4: You shouldn't kiss people. While they're unconscious without their consent.
- 35:30Speaker 2: We know this. Yes, we know this. If people are
- 35:32Speaker 2: in a coma, their mouth does not taste good. No.
- 35:35Speaker 2: You don't want to kiss their mouth. The human mouth
- 35:37Speaker 2: is bad, guys. It is bad. It's a bad place.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Someone probably wiped off her forehead. I think that's what
- 35:41Speaker 2: I'm just trying to say.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I don't want to be gross.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Anyway. No, forehead is safe.
- 35:45Speaker 2: This is a difficult check. I'm rolling a D12. Okay.
- 35:48Speaker 1: For your loved one.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Four. Rolled a seven.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Okay.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Paige does not wake in this moment. And you jump
- 35:57Speaker 2: out the window.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Oh, that was good. Yeah, solid sound.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I won't even add a sound or I'll put that
- 36:05Speaker 2: next to a sound and we'll see which is better. Yeah,
- 36:10Speaker 2: I open the window, jump out, and then punch it
- 36:12Speaker 2: behind me just to be clear. Great.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Quanta or Ronnie, what do you.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Want to do?
- 36:26Speaker 1: I think I will similarly to Jimmy or Rigel go
- 36:31Speaker 1: out in my costume next.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And then plan to find family and friends.
- 36:38Speaker 2: You burst out into the city in your costume. People
- 36:43Speaker 2: are shouting your name. Cheering for you as they see
- 36:48Speaker 2: you on rooftop gatherings and in parks. Very excited you've returned.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I reach out my senses into the radio and cubes
- 36:58Speaker 1: and TVs to see if there's any emergent event happening
- 37:04Speaker 1: that Hexaguy might be at.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Reach out into the different radio systems in the city.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I'm standing on a roof like Daredevil, twitching my head around.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Very cool. Bank robbery in process in Kono. All units,
- 37:18Speaker 2: all units in the area. I believe. They wouldn't say that.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I believe.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I believe. Kind of. It's kind of like.
- 37:25Speaker 1: It's kind of like a robbery.
- 37:26Speaker 2: It could be 20 stories tall. It could be 40
- 37:29Speaker 2: stories tall. There's no way to know.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Somewhere between 20 and 40.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Hexaguy has showed up. Hexaguy is there. Hexaguy is on site. Kaboom.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I say to myself and then cringe.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Whoa, that was so good. You should put the kaboom
- 37:43Speaker 4: in next to that kaboom. Sounds better.
- 37:46Speaker 1: No, I say it to myself without kaboom. And then
- 37:49Speaker 1: I kaboom. To head to the bank.
- 37:54Speaker 2: You head there. The police have lined up. It's a
- 38:03Speaker 2: big bank in Kono. The police have lined up outside
- 38:07Speaker 2: with their firearms pointed towards the front entry door. And
- 38:13Speaker 2: you hear commotion inside.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I head for a utility box to turn to plasma
- 38:18Speaker 1: and ride that inside.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You do so. You get inside. The pieces of you
- 38:22Speaker 2: coming back together through the electricity. You see Joshua, you assume.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Someone throwing up hexagons as shields to block bullets. He
- 38:34Speaker 2: thrusts his arm forward and out of his knuckles comes
- 38:39Speaker 2: a sword-looking shape made of hexagons. He punches a guy
- 38:43Speaker 2: with that. who's far away, throws him across the room.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Hex guy is here. He's wearing all black and just
- 38:52Speaker 2: a balaclava over his head.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Classic start.
- 38:55Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 38:56Speaker 1: I hang out in the electricity just for like a
- 38:58Speaker 1: few heartbeats watching this go down and then strike in
- 39:04Speaker 1: back to back with him.
- 39:07Speaker 2: As you watch, he gets hit in the back with
- 39:11Speaker 2: a club hammer As he's disarmed, this guy of his gun,
- 39:14Speaker 2: he is new and sloppy. But you then come up
- 39:20Speaker 2: behind him back to back.
- 39:22Speaker 1: And I reach out and just put my hand on
- 39:24Speaker 1: the chest of the guy that hit him and say,
- 39:26Speaker 1: good night.
- 39:27Speaker 2: And friesle him. Friesle.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Him. Frazzle him.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Frazzle him to sleep. Roll a knowledge check. Plus your
- 39:35Speaker 2: control electricity is challenging. So I'm rolling a D10.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Six.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I rolled a seven. He gets shocked, but he doesn't
- 39:44Speaker 2: fall down. And then Hexaguy swings an elbow around and
- 39:50Speaker 2: And out of his elbow grows a length of hexagons
- 39:54Speaker 2: to try to slice at you. Hey, hey, hey, it's me.
- 39:58Speaker 2: It's Quanta.
- 39:59Speaker 5: Quanta.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Hey.
- 40:00Speaker 5: Quanta.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Hey.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Hi.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Thanks for coming.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I'm in over my head.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Let's take him out.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Okay.
- 40:07Speaker 2: How do you and Joshua take these guys out together?
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I... Get out my whitening, my white, my whitening whip.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Your whitening whip?
- 40:16Speaker 3: My whitening whip.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I used it on my teeth.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's, that's Quanta's next, uh, uh, uh, what's the word?
- 40:23Speaker 1: Collab with a brand.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah, with a whitening whip. Quanta. X. X.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Toothpaste.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Toothpaste brand.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Feel the whitening. Feel the whitening. Quantically whitening. Chase the whitening. No,
- 40:38Speaker 2: it's ride the whitening. Ride the whitening.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You feel it on your teeth though. And it's got the,
- 40:45Speaker 1: you know, like, you know, you know, back when, uh,
- 40:47Speaker 1: toothpaste had like confetti in it.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Back when it was fun.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Back when toothpaste was fun. It's like little lightning shaped
- 40:54Speaker 1: confetti in there.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:57Speaker 1: I daydream about that for a second. And then I
- 40:59Speaker 1: get out my lightning whip and, uh, His hexagons are
- 41:04Speaker 1: not conductive. I start taking out guys at further range
- 41:10Speaker 1: because he's more close up right now. So I start
- 41:14Speaker 1: around and letting him take the closer guys.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Your whip goes out. He ducks under it, trying to
- 41:19Speaker 2: leave you space and starts punching the rest of these guys. Eventually,
- 41:24Speaker 2: you guys handle them all. These are normal bank robbers.
- 41:28Speaker 2: You're able to give them over to the police and.
- 41:31Speaker 1: That was a lot of guys for one little bank.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, there's big stuff going on with the money.
- 41:37Speaker 2: If they get all this, turn it all in with
- 41:40Speaker 2: American Exchange.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Makes sense.
- 41:45Speaker 2: You got a rooftop to take me to? Sure.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Sure.
- 42:01Speaker 2: You guys zip up to a rooftop nearby. So where
- 42:05Speaker 2: you been? Asleep.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I called. I'm sorry.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Asleep.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Yeah. It was a whole thing with my friend. We
- 42:12Speaker 1: were stuck in a different dimension and asleep for a month.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Whoa. Okay.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Wow.
- 42:19Speaker 2: I want to ask more questions, but we only have
- 42:23Speaker 2: so much time.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Yeah, this is kind of it. Every day is You're
- 42:30Speaker 1: getting stuck in a dimension where you're holding up a
- 42:32Speaker 1: falling building.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys were amazing, by the way. Thanks. It
- 42:38Speaker 2: was incredible.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Hey, it's good to see you out here.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Yeah, fucking you got to me, and then you guys
- 42:51Speaker 2: saved that whole building from falling down, and then I was...
- 42:56Speaker 2: Being a fireman and there was a fire and they
- 43:00Speaker 2: weren't going to bring the trampoline in time. And so
- 43:04Speaker 2: I had to build like a huge slide for the
- 43:07Speaker 2: people and I did it.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw the newsreel.
- 43:11Speaker 2: It was cool. And then the news started calling me Hexaguy, which... Solid.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Is it? I like it.
- 43:19Speaker 2: I was thinking like Bone Shield.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Isn't that your dad's name?
- 43:23Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, my dad's name is Bones.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Dad giveaway.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah, there's something there I probably should deal with. But anyway,
- 43:35Speaker 2: that's a bad idea. Hexaguy is fine, I guess.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I like it.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I'm okay with it. It's good to see you.
- 43:43Speaker 1: You too. You know, if you could see in me
- 43:48Speaker 1: like I can see in you, you'd see that.
- 43:51Speaker 2: You can see in me? Yeah. Did we go over
- 43:53Speaker 2: that before? I don't think so. Yeah, I don't. What
- 43:58Speaker 2: do you mean you can see in me?
- 43:59Speaker 1: I can. Electricity is everywhere.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Even in our bodies.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Really? Human. Yeah.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So anytime you move, anytime you feel something emotional or physical,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I can see it.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Wow. You can't see me, though. Oh, interesting. Yeah.
- 44:20Speaker 1: But my suit kind of. Shows me sometimes.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Oh, I see. That's why it changes color.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but sometimes I control it.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Oh, like a mood ring?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, kind of like that, I think.
- 44:35Speaker 7: Wow.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:37Speaker 2: What color is it now, Quanta?
- 44:39Speaker 1: Blushing. Blushing pink.
- 44:44Speaker 2: He says, what does pink mean? Is it good?
- 44:48Speaker 1: You know, I'm like, I'm frazzled.
- 44:50Speaker 7: Okay. Okay.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Sorry, I interrupted you. If you could, if I could
- 44:54Speaker 2: see you like you could see me, but I kind
- 44:56Speaker 2: of can with your suit, I guess. Yeah.
- 44:59Speaker 1: So if you see, it's like, I kind of turned
- 45:03Speaker 1: like a little bit of orange in there. Um, I'm
- 45:08Speaker 1: scared too. When I put on the mask is what
- 45:10Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:13Speaker 1: As you know, as much bravado as I put on nowadays.
- 45:18Speaker 1: So thanks for being out here, even though you're scared.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Thanks. I'll be around if you guys need a, you know,
- 45:27Speaker 2: need a pretty worthless bonus guy.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Not worthless.
- 45:34Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not doing great. These things are hard
- 45:37Speaker 2: to control.
- 45:37Speaker 1: You'll get better. Yeah, you know, we're kind of building
- 45:45Speaker 1: a group, a team.
- 45:47Speaker 2: So I'll talk to the guys. All right. Let me know.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I haven't been out for a month. I got to
- 45:52Speaker 1: go check on some other people.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Okay. Good to see you. You too.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Bye.
- 46:01Speaker 2: He looks as you go away, makes himself a giant
- 46:04Speaker 2: slide down to the ground and slides on down. Jameer,
- 46:11Speaker 2: you want to check in with your family? Jameer takes
- 46:16Speaker 2: a deep breath, knocks on the door. And starts crying. Oh, God. Oh, God. Mama.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Mama.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Your mom comes to the door, opens it. I'm so sorry.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I messed up so bad.
- 46:44Speaker 8: I messed up so fucking bad.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 46:49Speaker 2: She grabs your wrist, pulls you into the house, and
- 46:54Speaker 2: slaps the back of your head as you come in lovingly.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Where have you been, Jameer?
- 47:00Speaker 7: She said I couldn't leave. She took my phone. I
- 47:08Speaker 7: didn't have a phone, sorry. She said I couldn't leave.
- 47:12Speaker 7: She didn't let me use the phone.
- 47:14Speaker 3: I was just trying to show her I was a
- 47:17Speaker 3: good guy.
- 47:19Speaker 2: And then she broke up with me. Tamir, what have
- 47:21Speaker 2: I told you about crazy women? Everything there is to know.
- 47:31Speaker 8: I messed up so bad. Listen, she wasn't a good person.
- 47:38Speaker 8: I'm not sure about it. I'm fucking so confused.
- 47:43Speaker 2: I'm so confused. What did she do to get you
- 47:49Speaker 2: in there, Jameer? What can we learn? What can we
- 47:51Speaker 2: look for next time? I don't want to talk about it.
- 47:55Speaker 2: You don't want to talk about it? You've been gone
- 47:58Speaker 2: for a month, honey. We haven't seen you.
- 48:01Speaker 8: She was very attractive physically, okay?
- 48:05Speaker 2: Your dad's sitting at the table reading a newspaper. Dad,
- 48:09Speaker 2: I missed you so bad. I'd go over and hug you.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I missed you, buddy. Hey, I heard you were getting...
- 48:17Speaker 2: Don't say anything else, please, Dad. You were getting it.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I fucked up. I messed up. I messed up.
- 48:26Speaker 3: So bad for so long.
- 48:28Speaker 8: I don't know how it got this bad.
- 48:30Speaker 2: It's okay. We've all made mistakes. Yeah, Jameer, go ahead
- 48:33Speaker 2: and roll a lie check with your family here. My
- 48:38Speaker 2: lie is a D4. I mean, maybe let him roll high.
- 48:44Speaker 2: His performance was great.
- 48:45Speaker 7: It was.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Yeah, roll high, Jimmy. Yeah.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Hey, thanks for pleading for me, guys. Ooh, I got
- 48:51Speaker 3: a five on my DCs.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 48:53Speaker 4: Nice.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Paid off.
- 48:55Speaker 2: They both have D4s, so they can't beat you. Okay. Oh, shit. Numbers.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Your mom rolled a four and your dad rolled a one,
- 49:05Speaker 2: which makes a lot of sense. That's pretty on track.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Your mom does narrow her eyes certainly at a close,
- 49:12Speaker 2: a close fail.
- 49:14Speaker 1: It's like the radio in the background is like, the
- 49:16Speaker 1: hero Rigel was spotted finally back after a month. Yeah.
- 49:21Speaker 8: Family is the most important thing in my life. I
- 49:26Speaker 8: wasn't thinking straight.
- 49:28Speaker 2: I wasn't thinking straight. Your dad gives you a hug.
- 49:31Speaker 2: It's okay, son. We all make mistakes. We all mess up.
- 49:35Speaker 2: It's okay. I messed up big.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Guys, it's been like a month almost, and I haven't
- 49:42Speaker 3: even stopped by for a meal.
- 49:45Speaker 2: I don't want to be that guy. You're not, Jameer.
- 49:51Speaker 2: You made a mistake. Your mom's like, yeah, you don't
- 49:56Speaker 2: want to be that guy, Jameer. If you keep down
- 49:58Speaker 2: this path, you will become that guy. You understand what
- 50:00Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 50:01Speaker 3: She ended things, and I know it wasn't my choice,
- 50:07Speaker 3: but I think now I've learned to not make the
- 50:10Speaker 3: choices that got me in that place. It was so dark.
- 50:16Speaker 6: And then there'd be brief moments where the light was
- 50:19Speaker 6: so bright and everything was perfect. And then it would
- 50:24Speaker 6: get real dark again for a while. But the good
- 50:28Speaker 6: times were enough to keep me going.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Your dad is nodding along with you, trying to get
- 50:35Speaker 2: back to his paper. Your mom says, Jameer, you sound
- 50:38Speaker 2: like a fool. What you're saying is foolish. Listen to yourself.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Listen to your words. She's like all over your ass
- 50:48Speaker 2: about this.
- 50:49Speaker 3: You're right. No, no. This is on me. This one's
- 50:52Speaker 3: on my head. I need to get wiser.
- 50:56Speaker 2: And Jameer barely sustains the lie with his family here. Perfect.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Got to get that sass ass. Ooh. Piece of sass.
- 51:08Speaker 1: That's what they say. Best ass is in sass.
- 51:11Speaker 2: The best ass is in sass. What else did you
- 51:14Speaker 2: guys want to get up to in these three days
- 51:15Speaker 2: before the election?
- 51:16Speaker 4: I want to chat with Manny. Catch up. Talk to
- 51:21Speaker 4: someone who's an adult.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:23Speaker 2: How do you go about finding Manny Ellington?
- 51:26Speaker 4: Oh, well, I guess I sort of assumed he'd be
- 51:29Speaker 4: like at his job or something, or I Could look
- 51:32Speaker 4: up his library card information.
- 51:34Speaker 2: See if I got his address. I think you can
- 51:37Speaker 2: go to Ellington Electric. It is an enormous space on
- 51:41Speaker 2: the very edge of the west edge of Koso. So
- 51:46Speaker 2: it's in Colorado South. It's a huge and beautiful complex.
- 51:53Speaker 2: And there are windmills on the southwest side of the city.
- 52:00Speaker 2: that go out into no man's land, and that's what
- 52:03Speaker 2: Ellington Electric pulls from. Oh, sure, like wind turbines. Yes. Gotcha. Sorry,
- 52:07Speaker 2: wind turbines. Everyone calls them windmills. I knew what you meant. Oh, great.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I like to imagine the old rickety wooden ones now. Yeah,
- 52:14Speaker 2: they're just grinding up, like windmills are like grinding up flour. Yeah,
- 52:17Speaker 2: he's grinding up flour.
- 52:20Speaker 1: He has his one personal pet project where he's milling things.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Like the old school.
- 52:27Speaker 1: I like my peas freeze-dried and milled, Jason.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Who do you go in as? Just as Jason. You
- 52:35Speaker 2: go in as Jason. You come to the front desk.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Everything in here is pretty imperial. Stark, white, a lot
- 52:47Speaker 2: of light. The lady at the front desk narrows her
- 52:51Speaker 2: eyes as you walk in.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Hi. Hi, I'm here to see Manny Ellington. Did you
- 52:57Speaker 4: have an appointment? No, I just need to return something
- 53:01Speaker 4: to him. I pull out the book. Manny Ellington's book.
- 53:06Speaker 2: What's that?
- 53:08Speaker 4: It's just an important piece of information that I need
- 53:11Speaker 4: to deliver to Manny Ellington personally.
- 53:13Speaker 2: I know him. You know him? What's your name? Jason Turner.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Jason Turner? Okay. Okay. Wait right over there. She gestures
- 53:27Speaker 2: to some chairs that are built into the side.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Of the wall.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Whoa, fancy. You like working here? What?
- 53:36Speaker 4: It seems like this is a cool... I like all
- 53:39Speaker 4: the wind stuff and the stark white architecture. It's very fashionable.
- 53:46Speaker 4: Working here is awesome. Oh, it seems like you're really
- 53:49Speaker 4: excited about it. I actually really like it. I'll just
- 53:54Speaker 4: sit in these chairs.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Manny said that I need to work on my people skills,
- 54:00Speaker 2: so he put me at the front desk. He's a wise,
- 54:04Speaker 2: wise man. I also need to work on my people skills. Really?
- 54:10Speaker 2: What helps?
- 54:12Speaker 4: Sometimes being loud, finding an outlet. Take a seat.
- 54:20Speaker 2: I'll be with you shortly.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Are you?
- 54:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:23Speaker 2: All right.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 54:25Speaker 2: She calls up Jason Turner, and in a bit, Manny
- 54:29Speaker 2: comes down from an elevator. Jason. Hi, Mr.
- 54:37Speaker 3: Ellington.
- 54:39Speaker 2: It is good to see you. Do you have a minute?
- 54:44Speaker 2: Of course. I am surprised to see you, but it
- 54:46Speaker 2: is delightful to see you in my place of work. Normally,
- 54:50Speaker 2: I see you at yours.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:54Speaker 2: They're working on rebuilding it, I hear, so I haven't
- 54:56Speaker 2: been by yet. Yes, Hilland has a lot of plans
- 55:00Speaker 2: for this city. Sure. Come on up, please. Thanks. I
- 55:05Speaker 2: love your architecture. You ride the elevator with Manny into
- 55:10Speaker 2: the floor that is his office. It opens. And whereas
- 55:15Speaker 2: the rest of the building is pretty stark and... square
- 55:21Speaker 2: and imperial and lacks color. Immediately as the elevator opens,
- 55:27Speaker 2: you notice beautiful carpets, rugs laid out, gorgeous patterns and
- 55:36Speaker 2: fine stitching. You notice books on the walls. There are paintings,
- 55:45Speaker 2: beautiful paintings everywhere. Jason probably isn't an artist, but they
- 55:49Speaker 2: look impressive. There is a painting of a man, a
- 55:55Speaker 2: light in the top left corner. The light pours through
- 55:59Speaker 2: his mind, and behind him he holds his heart. And
- 56:03Speaker 2: the light pours through his mind into his heart.
- 56:06Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 56:07Speaker 2: That's a cool painting. Thank you. It is meant to
- 56:12Speaker 2: be Augustine the Saint. Oh. You see, also, there's not
- 56:20Speaker 2: a desk in here. There are beautiful couches, and the
- 56:24Speaker 2: couches surround a pool indoors, and the pool is not
- 56:29Speaker 2: for waiting. It is a shallow pool, and it has
- 56:33Speaker 2: lotus flowers blooming out of it. Oh, this is quite
- 56:38Speaker 2: the office you have here.
- 56:39Speaker 4: I was a little worried after, you know, your name
- 56:43Speaker 4: on the council got exposed, but it seems like you're
- 56:46Speaker 4: doing good.
- 56:46Speaker 2: When you are true to who you are, true to
- 56:52Speaker 2: the people that you've promised to serve, they know what's real.
- 56:58Speaker 2: That's interesting you bring that up. Do you mind if
- 57:00Speaker 2: I talk to you honestly, Mr. Ellington? I don't have
- 57:07Speaker 2: a lot of other people to talk to, and I
- 57:11Speaker 2: don't know. You seem trustworthy. I.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Could never and would never attempt to replace your lost father.
- 57:24Speaker 2: But I can speak to you as an older brother,
- 57:29Speaker 2: one that can help in times of need. Well, I
- 57:33Speaker 2: guess first things first, then.
- 57:37Speaker 4: I hold out my arms, clench my fists, and turn
- 57:39Speaker 4: into the paper phantom right in front of him.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Whoa. Bom-bom.
- 57:46Speaker 2: We've met before. His eyes widen. Well, well, well. That
- 57:54Speaker 2: is interesting.
- 57:56Speaker 4: I pull back the mask and everything's still paper phantom,
- 58:00Speaker 4: but now just Jason's head exposed on top. I'm having
- 58:04Speaker 4: a bit of a rough time here. You see, for
- 58:09Speaker 4: a long time, I thought the phantom was some.
- 58:14Speaker 2: magical.
- 58:16Speaker 4: entity that lived inside this book controlling me making choices
- 58:22Speaker 4: for me doing things on my behalf but I recently
- 58:27Speaker 4: figured out that it was me all along I'm the
- 58:31Speaker 4: paper phantom and I don't know that I can handle
- 58:37Speaker 4: all the things that I did or all the things
- 58:39Speaker 4: that the phantom should do I don't think I can
- 58:43Speaker 4: do this man.
- 58:45Speaker 2: He smiles. Consider the lotus flowers here. They cannot grow
- 58:56Speaker 2: in pure and clean water. They need muck, murk. I
- 59:02Speaker 2: have to bring in mud, not only in the base
- 59:07Speaker 2: of the pond, but as they grow. sprout. I keep
- 59:12Speaker 2: them here to remind me that we are all growing
- 59:17Speaker 2: into the most powerful version of what we can be.
- 59:24Speaker 2: I appreciate that sentiment, but consider the lotus flower. It
- 59:30Speaker 2: floats on top of the water.
- 59:35Speaker 4: I am drowning. The reason I came here to you,
- 59:39Speaker 4: I don't know if talking about this will help, but
- 59:45Speaker 4: I've already failed a little bit at the magic of this.
- 59:49Speaker 4: And I want to use you and your technology. I
- 59:52Speaker 4: want you to help me remove this. And I point
- 59:56Speaker 4: to the book. I don't, I don't want to be
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: the paper phantom anymore. I made the phantom before, and
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: if I keep trying to put my anger there, it's
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: just going to reform over and over and over again.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: I don't have any of the coping skills, the tools
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: to handle how to process my feelings.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: I never did. I can't do it. I don't want to.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: You didn't before, but perhaps you do now. What gives
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: you that impression? You're seeking wise counsel. Yeah. Thinking beyond yourself. Maybe.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I just don't... I don't know.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: Who I am without being the paper phantom. And so
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: I just want to go back to before. When it
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: was just Jason Turner. They're almost done rebuilding the library.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: I can go back to my life, my job. I
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: don't have a reason to fight anymore. What was your
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: reason in the first place? I didn't... It wasn't my reason.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: It was just a.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: I thought a separate voice telling me to. Telling me
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: to fight. Telling me to take things I wanted. I
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: was selfish. I hurt people.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: I killed people, Mr. Ellington. I can't be trusted with
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: this power. I don't want it. I didn't bring up
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: the lotus to say that you are blooming. I brought
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: it up to say that you are in the muck.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: You are sprouting, and you're in the dark, the dark night,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: before you bloom. Perhaps blooming and floating on top of
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: the water will mean the phantom is no longer a
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: part of you. But perhaps, perhaps not. Enough with the riddles.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Can you help me or not? I don't know what
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: you ask. I have no... I am not a magician.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: I am a... I am a scientist.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: My best understanding from the books I've read is some
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: kind of quantum entanglement. The book and me, me and
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: the book, it's the same thing, taking up the same space.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Shouldn't be possible, but if there's anyone in this city
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: that could undo it, It'd be you.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: I will need to run tests. And I will need
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: to make a plan. Sure. Just don't tell my friends.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: I don't think they'll understand. What has been said remains
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: between us and the flowers. Oh, by the way, here's
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: your ledger back. He widens his eyes. Thank you. I
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: was so worried. If this fell into the wrong hands,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: it could certainly be bad for me.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: Sure.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: I mean, it.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: All made sense to me. You've got money and you're
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: doing good things with it, I think. Maybe the only one.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad that it fell into your hands. Into
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: the hands of the paper phantom? Just Jason for now.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Just Jason for now. Well, come back for testing.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: Sure.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: After the election. There's a lot going on. Yeah. You
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: got it.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: It was good to see you. You too. Thank you
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: for trusting me. Of course. And he sees you out.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Do you guys want to do anything else before the election?
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Did we miss anything?
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: I mean I would go back to work.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: Yeah you go back to work I'm so sorry Look at.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: My face.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Ronnie sorry Where have you been Did somebody come by
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: and tell you No I'm so sorry I was like
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: in a coma.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: For a month A month I'm so sorry It was
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: like a whole thing with With.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: The paper phantom Oh my god Um, listen, I was
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: trying like to, you know, I kind of built like
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: a mystique around you journey, like journeying in like the
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: zone of the mind or whatever.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly what I was doing.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: Oh, good.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: So you nailed it. Yeah.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: People liked it. They're really, uh, getting excited for you
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: to come back.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: So.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Oh, well thank the God in you for that.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah. I, I just did what I could. Thank you. Um,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Gabe has kind of kept people, uh, Excited to see
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: you return. Nice.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: The second second coming of Veronica Dyson Cantor.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Good way to spin it.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Thanks, friend. Yeah, sure. You checking with Jill and your family?
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: They're all super concerned that you were gone. What do
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: you spin to them?
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: I mean, my dad knows that I'm Quanta. And I
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: feel like I haven't talked about it with my moms,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: but they got to know some things up. So I'll
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: just say I was I was with new friends.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: And they really needed me.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: It's lame. I know. I'm sorry.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: OK, honey, whatever you want us to believe. We were
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: just worried. That's all. I know.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: I really I'm sorry how much I make you worry.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Just check in, okay? Sandy says. Just check in every
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: now and again. Shoot us. Do you need, like, I
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: can buy you a cube. You want me to buy
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: you a cube? No, don't buy me a cube, Mom.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: It's okay. That's all I need. I just need you
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: to check in every now and again.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Okay? Yeah, I'm sorry. It's okay. We love you. Thanks.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I pulled Jill aside after family dinner. Hey, have you
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: gone to visit your co-worker, Paige Wright?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I have, yeah. Took her flowers the other day. Why
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: do you ask? How do you know her? Wait, how
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: do you know her?
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I know somebody who knows her.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Okay, cool. And I heard, obviously, about the accident. Yeah, terrible.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: I rolled my ankle real bad.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Well, obviously, you know.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: You know I know somebody who was there. Oh.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: She would not have seen the phantom. Oh, right.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: She just popped out of paper. Anyways, is there anything
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you can do for her?
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: Oh man, I didn't think about it. We're working with
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: a lot of experimental stuff. Nothing that I would want
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: to use on a person yet. It's so new.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I saw. It was like her
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: mind was like her brain was like erased. But rebuilding rapidly.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Like I could see all the connections being made new.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: I mean the MFG could have Some sort of influence
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: on heightened healing, react evolutionary. She starts mumbling a bunch
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: of science stuff. That's interesting. That's interesting. Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Man.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I just thought I would tell you what I know
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: if it could help her.
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: I'll go see her again. I'll look into it. Okay. Also,
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: good to see you.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Good to see you.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Sorry you were out so long. Me too.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: I love you.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Love you.
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: Bye.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: You catch up with the famine page. Jill. Sorry, the
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: famine Jill. Is there anything the three of you want
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: to do to... Vote.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: Vote.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: Vote. Vote.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Oh, okay, just me?
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Yes. Get it out. Get it. Rock the vote.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: We're going to rock the vote. We're going to rock.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: This, the vote. Other than voting, is there anything you
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: want to do to influence this election? The people... Are
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: excited that you've returned. They've seen Rigel and Quanta running
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: through the city again. They are asking, the people ask
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: for the opinions of the heroes of this city. Do
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: you do anything to reach the people or do you
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: let it lie as it is? Rigel would talk in
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: front of a camera. Yeah.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: Grabbed while he was flat around and someone asked him.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: You go right up into the camera. I fucked up. Oh, mommy.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: Puppy.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: It's a very puppy. I fucked up. I fucked up. Oh, mommy. Mommy. Sorry, mommy.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: I'm fucked up.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: Nah, Chase is too self-absorbed. He's not doing shit. Election
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: can happen. He's going to forget to vote.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Again. Yeah, I think Conta is happy that they like
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: with what they've done. And I think I think that
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Jason saying sometimes like power, you can have too much
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: power has like stuck with her for a few days
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: because it feels so similar to conversations she's had with
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Jillian before. And that kind of stops her from trying
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: to influence the election further. Okay.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Rigel, there would certainly be an opportunity for you
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: as you're flying around. Rigel, Rigel, come down. Come down.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: The people want to know.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Hi.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: It's good to be back, everyone. Thank you for taking
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: care of the city while me and my friends were away.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: And where were you, Rigel?
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: We were fighting some battles. We'll just keep it at
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: that for now. But this city has protectors. Not just
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: us who wear capes and fly around, but All kinds.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: All shapes and sizes out there. Well done, New Babylonians.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Yes, yes. But the election is coming up, Rigel. What
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: are you and what are your thoughts and the thoughts
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: of your fellow heroes? My hero friends and I will
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: be voting.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Not as Rigel, Quanta, and the paper phantom, but as
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: New Babylonians that we also are.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: Know that. And the current mayor is behind bars. And
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I believe that's where he should stay. And do you
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: have an opinion about what would be better for the city?
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Cordula Soma or Henry Hilland? I do have my opinions.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: And I'm going to express them in the ballot box.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Thank you for your time. And Rigel flies off. The
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: day before the election arrives, the city is quiet. And
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: as the sun breaks over the horizon and splits the clouds,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: a sidewalk sweeper comes upon a gruesome sight, which is
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: then reported and then broadcasted to every screen in the city.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Sofia Eldanta, Darius Jackson, An unnamed Irish gangster, the Oyabun
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Hasagawa and Cordula Soma, are found dead on the steps
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: of City Hall. What the? No. Their bodies have been
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: strewn across the stairs, and there is a message written
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: in blood. Judgment Satisfied. And that's where we'll end this
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: episode of the Team Up Play Show 5.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Cordula, no. No. Unnamed Irish mobster. Unnamed Irish mobster.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: He was my favorite one.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: I'm going to find the real guy.
