Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello, Christians.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is Dallas Beacham.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Stand by for good news.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: The disciples stood on the Mount of Olives and watched Jesus rise into the cloud.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: A cloud received him up.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: While they looked forward toward heaven, two angels stood by and said, This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven this day.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: This same Jesus will return, not another, not merely an idea or an unseen influence.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: The Jesus who was crucified, raised from the dead, and taken into heaven will come again in like manner.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Paul describes that moment in First Thessalonians four, sixteen and seventeen, for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: First the dead in Christ shall rise.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Think of that reunion.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: The saints who died generations ago rise with immortal bodies.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: The faithful who are still alive are changed.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Together, not divided by age, nation, distance, or death, they are caught up to meet Jesus.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: The expression caught up speaks of a sudden and powerful gathering.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Jesus had promised in John fourteen, three, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am there you may be also.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: At his coming that promise is fulfilled.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Matthew 24, 30 and 31 says that the Son of Man will come in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: He will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: The trumpet, the clouds, the coming of Christ, and the gathering of his people belong to one magnificent event.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: For believers, this is not a puzzle meant to produce fear.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Paul ends his description by saying, Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Christ's coming is our comfort because separation will end.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: The dead in Christ will rise, the living saints will be changed, all will be gathered to the Lord.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: But preparation matters.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Jesus told a story of ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Five were wise and had all in their lamps.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Five were foolish and unprepared.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: At midnight the cry came, Behold the bridegroom cometh.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Go you out to meet him.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: The wise entered with him, and the door was shut.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: The question is not simply do we know that Jesus is coming?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: The question is, are we ready to meet him?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Have we heard the gospel?
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Have we obeyed it?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Received God's spirit, and continued faithfully.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Yesterday we watched the graves opened in the first resurrection.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Today we have followed the saints into the clouds to meet their returning king.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Tomorrow we will consider the celebration that follows the marriage supper of the Lamb.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: I hope today's message has touched your heart and causes you to have a good day.
