Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's just gone twenty seven after five. News Talk said,
- 0:02Speaker 1: be awful for the family to see. I know this
- 0:06Speaker 1: is the people who were filming that tragic fatal accident
- 0:09Speaker 1: on the Southern Motorway. The news media will cover it up,
- 0:12Speaker 1: but you know they will film it, go out to
- 0:14Speaker 1: a story. They will film the bodies in the accident.
- 0:18Speaker 1: They would film the accident aftermath, but they would not
- 0:20Speaker 1: show it to the audience. Here we have social media.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Everyone's got a camera. It's the new word of mouth.
- 0:27Speaker 1: You film what you see and you post it online.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's the wild West, open slather. The cops are upset
- 0:33Speaker 1: with this.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Can I just say I thought that was disgusting? It
- 0:36Speaker 2: really was. I mean I saw some of the footage.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It was filmed before emergency services arrived. There were close
- 0:42Speaker 2: ups of people to cease in the van, an injured
- 0:44Speaker 2: line on the road.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, close ups of people who are injured lying on
- 0:48Speaker 1: the road. Not a nice thing to see or to experience.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But so long as you're not driving and filming, isn't
- 0:56Speaker 1: it actually potentially useful evidence? Couldn't it help with an investigation?
- 1:02Speaker 1: If police are able to review some of this footage
- 1:05Speaker 1: of a crash or the immediate aftermath of a crash.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Was that safety barrier strong enough? By the way, how
- 1:13Speaker 1: often does the truck's tire blowout? I mean that sounds
- 1:17Speaker 1: like a horrible thing to happen and frightening, but it
- 1:20Speaker 1: obviously happens, and then what You've got no control and
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's all over over, way back to the filming. It
- 1:27Speaker 1: is the new word of mouth. People don't just tell
- 1:30Speaker 1: each other what happened anymore. They need to show me.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Have you got the video? Have you got the video?
- 1:34Speaker 1: I mean, this is just the way I think that
- 1:36Speaker 1: society is going. I'm not saying that I on board
- 1:39Speaker 1: with it at all, but it's the way it's going,
- 1:42Speaker 1: isn't it. And there's very little chance we will turn
- 1:45Speaker 1: that ship around now, and trying to do so maybe
- 1:48Speaker 1: a little futile society. We are increasingly desensitized to stuff
- 1:55Speaker 1: and insensitive to the feelings of those around us. That's
- 2:00Speaker 1: just that's just who we are now, isn't it. It
- 2:02Speaker 1: has just gone twenty nine minutes after five. We're going
- 2:05Speaker 1: to talk about airport wait times and potential taxes in
- 2:10Speaker 1: the UK. For more from News Talks b listen live
- 2:14Speaker 1: on air or online. And keep our shows with you
