- 0:00Speaker 1: This is America.
- 0:05Speaker 2: He's got the best head of hair and podcasting. This
- 0:08Speaker 2: is America with Rich Valdez.
- 0:18Speaker 3: What's up, America. Welcome back. It's Rich Valdez keeping your
- 0:20Speaker 3: company tonight. And today we're talking about football, right, soccer.
- 0:25Speaker 3: The FIFA World Cup starts tomorrow. And President Trump appointed
- 0:29Speaker 3: somebody who's an accomplished and experienced federal executive. He's been
- 0:34Speaker 3: around for a long time. And somebody I know. He's
- 0:37Speaker 3: actually a former colleague of mine. Andrew Giuliani is the
- 0:40Speaker 3: executive director of the White House Task Force on the
- 0:44Speaker 3: World Cup.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Andrew Juliani, Welcome to the program.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Rich. Awesome to be with you, man. It's tough to
- 0:49Speaker 2: believe that we are on the eve of what's going
- 0:51Speaker 2: to be the largest sporting events not just in American history,
- 0:55Speaker 2: but also in world history. Here. What an exciting time.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Absolutely, And you know, I was doing some prep for this,
- 1:02Speaker 3: and I realized that this might be the biggest event
- 1:06Speaker 3: I've seen that I've ever had any involvement in discussing
- 1:10Speaker 3: and really covering. Because I got to tell you, I mean,
- 1:12Speaker 3: I remember the Olympics kind of a big deal. Super Bowl,
- 1:16Speaker 3: big deal. We did Super Bowl in New Jersey when
- 1:18Speaker 3: I worked for the state government. Governor Christy was there.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I was there as part of that team. Big deal.
- 1:23Speaker 3: But this is I think President Trump said it was.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I don't know how many super Bowls give us some
- 1:29Speaker 3: of those numbers.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Sure well, whether you look at it from a viewership
- 1:32Speaker 2: or a security perspective, this really is the largest event
- 1:35Speaker 2: we've ever seen in the country. Here, the Super Bowl
- 1:38Speaker 2: gets normally about one hundred and thirty million people watching it.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Somewhere two one hundred and twenty one hundred and thirty
- 1:43Speaker 2: million people watching a super Bowl. One point six billion
- 1:46Speaker 2: people watched the last World Cup Final. We're expecting over
- 1:50Speaker 2: two billion people to watch the World Cup Final. Between
- 1:53Speaker 2: the one hundred and four games that are going to
- 1:56Speaker 2: be going on the seventy eight in the United States
- 1:58Speaker 2: of America, we're expecting over ten billion views on television alone.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Forgetting about social media and all the other ways that
- 2:05Speaker 2: people will consume games. And then from a security perspective,
- 2:09Speaker 2: Rich you'll appreciate this considering what you did in New
- 2:12Speaker 2: Jersey there preparing for that Super Bowl, understanding the security
- 2:16Speaker 2: around a super Bowl, and then doing that seventy eight
- 2:19Speaker 2: times over a thirty nine day period. Whether you're going
- 2:24Speaker 2: to a game, whether you'll be around the stadium, whatever,
- 2:26Speaker 2: it'll be. Those perimeters around the stadium will look just
- 2:29Speaker 2: like a Super Bowl. You'll have multiple, multiple security checks,
- 2:34Speaker 2: multiple perimeters from counter uas. Every single game will have
- 2:38Speaker 2: counter drone mitigation as well. Last year only five events
- 2:42Speaker 2: in the United States, five sier level events, had counter
- 2:45Speaker 2: uas mitigation. This year, all seventy eight matches, we'll have it,
- 2:48Speaker 2: including one fan fest in every single host city throughout
- 2:52Speaker 2: the duration of the tournament. So there really really has
- 2:55Speaker 2: been nothing like this, and to do this time and
- 2:58Speaker 2: time again. You saw in New Jersey the build up
- 3:01Speaker 2: to the Super Bowl, what that took, the whole interagency process,
- 3:04Speaker 2: two states working together, all the different local law enforcements
- 3:08Speaker 2: working together to try to pull that off. Imagine doing
- 3:12Speaker 2: that seventy eight times over a thirty nine day period.
- 3:16Speaker 2: And then on top of that, by the way, you
- 3:18Speaker 2: have sail Force to fifty, you have Freedom to fifty,
- 3:22Speaker 2: you have the Great American State Fair, the Semi Quinn Centennial.
- 3:25Speaker 2: There's a small UFC fight you might have heard about
- 3:28Speaker 2: on the White House South Lawn in a couple of days,
- 3:31Speaker 2: just a few things going on here, Rich, So you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'll give you my address to send me some coffee
- 3:36Speaker 2: whenever you get a minute.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I love that fabid that we're out with Andrew Giuliani,
- 3:40Speaker 3: Executive Director of the White House Task Force on the
- 3:43Speaker 3: FIFA World Cup, And that is a great way to
- 3:46Speaker 3: set the stage because I want to touch on each
- 3:48Speaker 3: of those points. But I want to start with everybody
- 3:51Speaker 3: who you know is a local listener of mine. They
- 3:54Speaker 3: know you from radio, they know you from running for governor,
- 3:57Speaker 3: and they probably know you from a young version of
- 3:59Speaker 3: you that was, you know, next to the mayor back
- 4:02Speaker 3: when you know Mayor Giuliani was around in office. But
- 4:06Speaker 3: you know, I have kids. I'm in the broadcast business.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Neither one of my kids will touch a microphone. One
- 4:12Speaker 3: has the same personality as me, and she won't do it.
- 4:15Speaker 3: The other one is the more intellectual side of me,
- 4:17Speaker 3: the research side, and she's like, oh no, no, no,
- 4:20Speaker 3: But when did you know? I mean you come from
- 4:22Speaker 3: parents that were on TV. Talk to me about when
- 4:25Speaker 3: you figured out, Hey, not a bad gig. I think
- 4:28Speaker 3: I'm going to do this public life and be involved.
- 4:31Speaker 2: You know, I had the opportunity to volunteer on the
- 4:34Speaker 2: twenty sixteen Trump campaign. Obviously known the President for close
- 4:39Speaker 2: to three decades. I consider him like an uncle figure
- 4:42Speaker 2: to me in many ways, and after the president one
- 4:47Speaker 2: had the opportunity to work for him in the first
- 4:49Speaker 2: term in the White House, and a lot of the
- 4:51Speaker 2: things that I had the opportunity to work on, from
- 4:54Speaker 2: the visa side of getting athletes and coaches in during
- 4:58Speaker 2: the Great American Reopening in twenty twenty after COVID, to
- 5:03Speaker 2: the safety and security side of major events, even working
- 5:06Speaker 2: on landing the twenty eighteen World Cup bid. I remember
- 5:10Speaker 2: being with President Trump in the Oval Office that evening
- 5:13Speaker 2: after we landed the World Cup bid, and it was
- 5:16Speaker 2: an exciting but also slightly bittersweet moment because he knew
- 5:20Speaker 2: what it meant for the United States. Over our two
- 5:22Speaker 2: hundred and fiftieth birthday, he was excited, but he was disappointed, frankly,
- 5:26Speaker 2: that he was not going to be the President of
- 5:27Speaker 2: the United States at the time. We know what happened
- 5:30Speaker 2: in twenty twenty, then we know twenty twenty four happens
- 5:33Speaker 2: that incredible comeback by President Donald J. Trump, and he
- 5:37Speaker 2: is the forty seventh president of the United States gets to
- 5:39Speaker 2: not only host this incredible World Cup, not only the
- 5:43Speaker 2: Olympics in la in twenty twenty eight, but also be
- 5:47Speaker 2: the president of the United States over our two hundred
- 5:50Speaker 2: and fiftieth birthday. I couldn't think of a better host
- 5:53Speaker 2: to be able to show off American exceptionalism than our
- 5:56Speaker 2: forty fifth and forty seventh president of the United States
- 5:59Speaker 2: over or two hundred and fiftieth birthday.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Really well said, and I like to call him Trompito,
- 6:06Speaker 3: did all of this, Magnus, the forty fifth and forty
- 6:08Speaker 3: seventh president, because you know, I think that God has
- 6:13Speaker 3: a way of working things out, right, he said, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 3: I'm going to give you that second term.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You gotta wait a minute.
- 6:17Speaker 3: You got to wait a minute so that you can
- 6:18Speaker 3: you know, you can hold this down, because honestly, it's
- 6:20Speaker 3: a lot. I really I'm really floored by a how
- 6:24Speaker 3: much the administration is doing, but b how much you're doing.
- 6:28Speaker 1: How much?
- 6:28Speaker 3: You know, it's kind of like very Trump right to
- 6:30Speaker 3: say we've got a million things to do, all right,
- 6:33Speaker 3: just Andrew.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Andrew can do a million things. Just give him coffee, right.
- 6:37Speaker 3: It just amazes me that that that's how and everybody
- 6:40Speaker 3: rolls with it, right, Everybody's like, no, I got to
- 6:42Speaker 3: keep up with the boss, you know, get me that
- 6:43Speaker 3: diet coke and let's roll. And I think it's phenomenal
- 6:46Speaker 3: because you really see, it's a stark difference, honestly, with
- 6:49Speaker 3: any administration I've seen. There's so much cranking out, so
- 6:52Speaker 3: much good stuff, so much publicity, so much pro America
- 6:56Speaker 3: putting us back on the map. Being in this business,
- 6:58Speaker 3: you know, nobody knows you have a radio or a
- 7:00Speaker 3: TV show if you're not out there telling people, Hey,
- 7:02Speaker 3: I'm on Fox, I'm on Newsmax, I have a radio show,
- 7:04Speaker 3: I have a TV show. You got to be out there.
- 7:06Speaker 3: And I think the United States is no different in
- 7:08Speaker 3: that regard. Right, we've got to tell people, Hey, we
- 7:10Speaker 3: can host the heck out of the FIFA World Cup.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You know, this is what we're gonna do. So you
- 7:16Speaker 1: talked about.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Some of the security concerns, and this is something that
- 7:21Speaker 3: I think a lot of people have a concern about
- 7:22Speaker 3: because this is I remember you talked about that drone
- 7:25Speaker 3: coverage and I remember that during Super Bowl and they're like, oh,
- 7:28Speaker 3: you know, it was a big deal for one event
- 7:30Speaker 3: that you know, you think the super Bowl is the
- 7:33Speaker 3: biggest thing we do, and now it's it's not the
- 7:35Speaker 3: biggest thing we do. We have all these big things
- 7:38Speaker 3: going on, and to me, that is just a difficult
- 7:41Speaker 3: idea to wrap the mind around. But when you do
- 7:43Speaker 3: wrap your mind around it, you realize, Wow, you're talking
- 7:46Speaker 3: about And just from my own knowledge of doing these
- 7:48Speaker 3: things you're talking about. Just I live about eight or
- 7:50Speaker 3: nine minutes away from MetLife Stadium. That's where my home is.
- 7:54Speaker 3: And I can tell you that going to the mall
- 7:56Speaker 3: where my daughter works in that mall. So when I
- 7:58Speaker 3: go there there's a concert, it's a nightmare. Right, that's
- 8:03Speaker 3: one concert, just one day. The state police, the local police,
- 8:09Speaker 3: just all sorts of things going on. How are you
- 8:11Speaker 3: navigating all of that minutia, all of that crazy?
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, first let me get in the drone side
- 8:18Speaker 2: of this, because I think there's been unbelievable progress since
- 8:21Speaker 2: President Trump took office. Back on June sixth of last year,
- 8:25Speaker 2: the President signed an executive order creating the Air Sovereignty
- 8:30Speaker 2: Task Force, and that executive order did two things. It
- 8:33Speaker 2: created that task force, but it also gave five hundred
- 8:36Speaker 2: million dollars of counter UAS coverage in the one big
- 8:40Speaker 2: beautiful Bill to state and local law enforcement stor states,
- 8:44Speaker 2: I should say, to be able to be reimbursed by
- 8:46Speaker 2: the federal government for drone mitigation equipment. What we did
- 8:51Speaker 2: when we saw that was we immediately ended up speaking
- 8:54Speaker 2: to the Air Sovereignty Task Force saying that, hey, look,
- 8:57Speaker 2: there are two pots two hundred and fifty million for
- 8:59Speaker 2: fiscal year twenty six, two fifty for fiscal year twenty seven.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Understanding all the special events that are going to be
- 9:06Speaker 2: going on in the eleven host cities in the National
- 9:09Speaker 2: Capital Region, we asked to make sure that those eleven
- 9:12Speaker 2: host states that are hosting World Cup and World Cup
- 9:15Speaker 2: related events and the National Capital Region get prioritized for
- 9:18Speaker 2: the first two hundred and fifty million dollars. They agreed
- 9:21Speaker 2: with that. We've then, on top of that, been able
- 9:25Speaker 2: to pass what's called the Safer Skys Act back in December,
- 9:28Speaker 2: passed through the NDAA at the end of last year,
- 9:31Speaker 2: which gave state and local law enforcement the authority to
- 9:35Speaker 2: be able to mitigate drones. Before that, state and local
- 9:38Speaker 2: law enforcement did not have the authority to be able
- 9:40Speaker 2: to do that. So you had sense exactly a FAA
- 9:42Speaker 2: thing that's exactly right. You had the SADS doing that.
- 9:45Speaker 2: What is drone mitigation? Is this a shotgun? Is it
- 9:48Speaker 2: an accounter drone? Is it a missile? How do you
- 9:50Speaker 2: do it? Well, there are all different kinds of ways
- 9:52Speaker 2: to do that, and it's very different in around stadiums
- 9:55Speaker 2: and civilian settings that it is let's say, in the
- 9:58Speaker 2: field of combat, right, And I think that's one of
- 10:00Speaker 2: the things that's very very clear as well. They are
- 10:03Speaker 2: all different ways to do it, and we have multiple
- 10:06Speaker 2: different technologies deployed to be able to defeat different types
- 10:10Speaker 2: of text. Frankly, this is a space that's moving very
- 10:13Speaker 2: very fast. The half life's in this it's six weeks
- 10:17Speaker 2: to three months, which is amazing. And really this, you know,
- 10:20Speaker 2: this is sounds like a brag, but it really really
- 10:23Speaker 2: is true. Federal government generally is not equipped to move
- 10:26Speaker 2: that fast unless you have a leader that's willing to
- 10:28Speaker 2: push it that way. And that's really what Donald Trump,
- 10:30Speaker 2: that's what Secretary Mullen, that's what their mandates have been
- 10:33Speaker 2: to be able to make sure that we're able to
- 10:36Speaker 2: do this. But the story is really amazing because what
- 10:38Speaker 2: this has all led to, Right, the FBI created a
- 10:41Speaker 2: schoolhouse to train these local law enforcement to get them
- 10:44Speaker 2: up to speed. The DOJ deputize them in a task
- 10:48Speaker 2: force model. That way they would have the ability to
- 10:50Speaker 2: do this. And here's the story. Last year, in twenty
- 10:53Speaker 2: twenty five, five events, five special events were covered for drones.
- 10:57Speaker 2: This year in twenty twenty six, all seventy eight matches
- 11:00Speaker 2: for the World Cup are gonna be covered against drones
- 11:03Speaker 2: for drone mitigation, and one FanFest in every single city
- 11:07Speaker 2: for the duration of the World Cup will be covered
- 11:10Speaker 2: as well. So this is an unbelievable story of progress.
- 11:13Speaker 2: We're gonna keep pushing and pushing and pushing because we
- 11:16Speaker 2: have to. But it's really really amazing what this task Force,
- 11:19Speaker 2: with the Air Sovereignty Task Force, and what our federal
- 11:23Speaker 2: interagency partners, led by the leadership of President Donald J. Trump,
- 11:27Speaker 2: has done to make our country safe and our sky
- 11:31Speaker 2: safe for this World Cup.
- 11:33Speaker 3: You know, Executive Director Andrew Giuliani, I listened to what
- 11:36Speaker 3: you're saying, and I think I'm old enough to remember
- 11:40Speaker 3: a Chinese weather balloon just floating through our skies, right,
- 11:45Speaker 3: And it's amazing that that was acceptable and that was
- 11:47Speaker 3: a reality in this country and now you're telling me,
- 11:50Speaker 3: you know, I think I feel that much safer if
- 11:52Speaker 3: I know that we've got this drone mitigation technology. I
- 11:56Speaker 3: want to know that you're on it, you know, because
- 11:58Speaker 3: they were on it. And that's a relief. Because people
- 12:01Speaker 3: want to have fun with their kids. You know, nobody's
- 12:03Speaker 3: going to soccer to get plastered. It's not an adult affair.
- 12:06Speaker 3: This kid's going, this family's going. This is a big deal.
- 12:10Speaker 3: And I remember watching the Copa Medica whenever that was here,
- 12:14Speaker 3: was that last year, the year before, whatever it was,
- 12:16Speaker 3: And they did that in Miami and they were doing
- 12:18Speaker 3: these cutaways on the Spanish channel I think it was
- 12:21Speaker 3: on Nibi Sjongen and people were climbing the walls and
- 12:25Speaker 3: scaling the building. And I was like, that's a big
- 12:29Speaker 3: security concern. I mean, they did not have a handle
- 12:33Speaker 3: on that at that time, and I'm thinking this is
- 12:36Speaker 3: much bigger than that. Obviously, that's a challenge. What do
- 12:40Speaker 3: you have in place? Clearly you have a lot in place,
- 12:43Speaker 3: How does that work and what does it look like?
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it was in twenty twenty four, obviously different leadership
- 12:48Speaker 2: in the country at that point there. Yeah, but you're
- 12:51Speaker 2: right that Copa America. I think was a real wake
- 12:53Speaker 2: up call, not just for the country, but I think
- 12:56Speaker 2: also for the area of Miami. There's different leadership there.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I can tell you the ship Tarriff Sheriff Rosie is
- 13:03Speaker 2: unbelievable out there. She's done a great job. We saw
- 13:05Speaker 2: it with the Club World Cup last year. Probably the
- 13:08Speaker 2: biggest complaints that we got in Miami during the Club
- 13:11Speaker 2: World Cup was that the uber drop off was a
- 13:13Speaker 2: little further than patrons would like. Frankly, that's a lot
- 13:16Speaker 2: better than thirty thousand unticketed fans trying to rush the
- 13:19Speaker 2: stadium gates here when there's only one layer of security. Well,
- 13:23Speaker 2: the counter UAS coverage We mentioned what you'd see in
- 13:26Speaker 2: Miami and what you'll see in all these other stadiums
- 13:29Speaker 2: is you'll see three different perimeters that ultimately will guard
- 13:33Speaker 2: against that. They had no perimeters out there, they basically
- 13:36Speaker 2: were able to rush the gates. And this is something
- 13:39Speaker 2: that we've wanted to make sure law enforcement is prepared
- 13:42Speaker 2: for it. There's going to be triple the amount of
- 13:44Speaker 2: law enforcement as was available that day as well. They'll
- 13:47Speaker 2: also be limits in terms of tailgating in front of
- 13:51Speaker 2: the stadiums. If you have a ticket, you'll have the
- 13:53Speaker 2: ability to come on site and do that. But if
- 13:55Speaker 2: you don't have a ticket, you'll be turned away. They
- 13:58Speaker 2: have a fan festival at a front park in Miami,
- 14:01Speaker 2: all other kind of activations in the Miami area. So
- 14:04Speaker 2: that way, if you are unticketed, you can go there.
- 14:07Speaker 2: You still can have a blast, you can watch the
- 14:08Speaker 2: World Cup, you can gather for this incredible event. But
- 14:12Speaker 2: we also want to make sure, to the point that
- 14:13Speaker 2: you're saying, they're rich, that kids, that families have an
- 14:17Speaker 2: unbelievable experience at this World Cup. It should be enthusiastic,
- 14:21Speaker 2: it should be a lot of fun. The most important
- 14:24Speaker 2: part of having an unbelievable experience is making sure that
- 14:27Speaker 2: they're safe and they have an incredible story to tell
- 14:30Speaker 2: when they go home.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Andrew Giuliani, stick with me for a second. When to
- 14:34Speaker 3: take a quick pause right here, I mean, gooes, We're
- 14:36Speaker 3: coming right back.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I'm Rich Valdez, this is Amaria, this is Amara. President Pomis,
- 14:51Speaker 1: take your up, mister President. Welcome to the program.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Service. Well, thank you, Rich, and thank you for everything.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I know you very well and I have I listened.
- 14:59Speaker 3: But I have a lot of people that listen, and
- 15:01Speaker 3: they love your show, and I appreciate it very much.
- 15:04Speaker 3: All Right, if I'm many that, welcome back, it's Rich Valdess.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm still here, and so is Andrew Giuliani, Executive Director
- 15:10Speaker 3: of the President's Task Force, the White House Task Force
- 15:13Speaker 3: on the FIFA World Cup. And Andrew Juliani, listen. I
- 15:16Speaker 3: give you tons of credit. You sit there with a
- 15:18Speaker 3: bright face, a big smile. I think it's it's coffee
- 15:21Speaker 3: and a lot of grit, right, because I saw your
- 15:23Speaker 3: team in Texas, and I'm sure there's a lot of
- 15:26Speaker 3: great men and women, but it seems like you have
- 15:28Speaker 3: a skeleton crew of like elite special Forces operators, whether
- 15:32Speaker 3: it's comms or tech or whatever. You guys are fixing
- 15:35Speaker 3: every problem you can find and dealing with the security issues,
- 15:39Speaker 3: dealing with the logistical issues out there doing the pr work.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Talk to me about you know, I guess at different
- 15:45Speaker 3: angle here what a day in the life looks like,
- 15:48Speaker 3: because I think everybody sees and they're like, oh, look
- 15:50Speaker 3: at Andrew Giuliani. Looks so nice on TV. But I'm
- 15:53Speaker 3: guessing you're in a different city every week or so.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah, once, once this World Cup gets kicked off tomorrow.
- 16:00Speaker 2: It's going to be a lot of travel. We're going
- 16:01Speaker 2: to make sure that we're in every single host city
- 16:05Speaker 2: at different points, seeing how their emergency operations centers have done. Frankly,
- 16:09Speaker 2: leading into this World Cup, that's what we did once
- 16:12Speaker 2: I got on the job. Last year, we had the
- 16:14Speaker 2: Club World Cup, which was a small appetizer compared to
- 16:18Speaker 2: this main event that we're having right now, but it
- 16:20Speaker 2: gave us an opportunity to be able to see these
- 16:22Speaker 2: emergency operation centers and looks at each of the eleven
- 16:26Speaker 2: regions that are hosting World Cup events and how they operate,
- 16:30Speaker 2: and see what potential holes exist and see where the
- 16:32Speaker 2: federal government can come in and do that. I lead
- 16:36Speaker 2: the day off with a staff sync, very very important
- 16:38Speaker 2: with my senior staff to make sure that we're in coordination. Then,
- 16:43Speaker 2: when you look at all of the agencies that this
- 16:45Speaker 2: ends up touching from our task force, it's everything from
- 16:48Speaker 2: Homeland Security to the State Department, to the Department of War, Treasury, Commerce, Transportation,
- 16:54Speaker 2: doj FBI. Those are just our name task force members.
- 16:58Speaker 2: But I could tell you working with h with my
- 17:00Speaker 2: friend Lee Zelden over at EPA working on issues there
- 17:04Speaker 2: with Brooke Rollins over at the Department of Agriculture. It's
- 17:07Speaker 2: been unbelievable to see the work of the federal government
- 17:11Speaker 2: here and what it takes to get everybody pushing in
- 17:14Speaker 2: the right direction. Also, I got to say, for an
- 17:17Speaker 2: event of this magnitude, it can't just be the federal
- 17:20Speaker 2: government when you look at the size and scope of this,
- 17:22Speaker 2: the whole country, really the whole continent. Over the course
- 17:25Speaker 2: of this the work with local law enforcement has been unbelievable.
- 17:30Speaker 2: State and local law enforcement. Look, we know there are
- 17:33Speaker 2: some political differences that I and certainly President Trump have
- 17:36Speaker 2: with the mayor of New York or the governor of California,
- 17:40Speaker 2: but kudos to law enforcement in all of these great areas,
- 17:43Speaker 2: the four hundred plus different law enforcement organizations that we
- 17:47Speaker 2: work with on a day to day basis, because they
- 17:49Speaker 2: come in every single day getting the job done, doing
- 17:53Speaker 2: everything they can for the people of New York, the
- 17:56Speaker 2: people of California, trying to make sure that their state,
- 17:59Speaker 2: that there's cities are safe, and we're happy to work
- 18:02Speaker 2: with them on a daily basis. Anybody who wants to
- 18:04Speaker 2: make this country safer, whether it's their cities, whether it's
- 18:08Speaker 2: their state or the United States as a whole. We're
- 18:10Speaker 2: here to work with.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Talk to me about the economic impact that this is
- 18:15Speaker 3: going to have in our country. You talk about all
- 18:17Speaker 3: these fan zone, these activations, lots of brands involved, your rebranding,
- 18:23Speaker 3: entire stadiums.
- 18:24Speaker 1: This is a massive undertaking.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Obviously a lot of money going into this, it's got
- 18:29Speaker 3: to be a lot of money coming out of it
- 18:31Speaker 3: as well.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Talk to me about the economic impact.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know how you're going to like this,
- 18:34Speaker 2: but I propose to FIFA that they rename MetLife Stadium
- 18:38Speaker 2: Giant Stadium again. That seemed to work pretty well for me,
- 18:41Speaker 2: But I don't know. The giants, I guess haven't earned
- 18:43Speaker 2: it over the last decade. We'll have to see with
- 18:45Speaker 2: Harball and Dart at the Helm here if they can
- 18:47Speaker 2: maybe you know, change the name and back over here.
- 18:50Speaker 2: But no, seriously, it really is a massive economic impact
- 18:54Speaker 2: that this World couple have. We're looking at over thirty
- 18:57Speaker 2: billion dollars in economic impact, seventeen billion dollars to GDP,
- 19:04Speaker 2: and those numbers were before we've seen the record sales
- 19:08Speaker 2: that have been hit because of this World Cup. The
- 19:11Speaker 2: previous high for tickets sold at a World Cup was
- 19:14Speaker 2: three point five million. That was actually back in nineteen
- 19:17Speaker 2: ninety four here in the United States when they were
- 19:20Speaker 2: only twenty fourteens. The last six iterations of the World
- 19:23Speaker 2: Cup had thirty two teams. Still they never topped what
- 19:25Speaker 2: was in the United States of America three point five million.
- 19:28Speaker 2: IFIFA told me last week that they crossed the six
- 19:31Speaker 2: million ticket sold threshold out of a little less than
- 19:36Speaker 2: seven million tickets. So it's really really amazing to see
- 19:39Speaker 2: the demand. And they're not fifty bucks, No, they're not.
- 19:42Speaker 2: And the President, the President's talked about that it's expensive, right.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I think that's what happens when you have a World
- 19:49Speaker 2: Cup and the incredible demand for tickets, and you add
- 19:52Speaker 2: in the great leadership of President Trump and the Golden
- 19:54Speaker 2: Age of America, you create this unbelievable and incredible demand.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I'll tell you a couple things so that he did,
- 20:01Speaker 2: or first off, one thing that FIFA did. They made
- 20:04Speaker 2: sixty dollars tickets available at every single match, a thousand
- 20:07Speaker 2: of them available. And you could see right now some
- 20:10Speaker 2: of the less in demand matches there's still tickets available
- 20:13Speaker 2: for less than two hundred dollars. If you end up
- 20:15Speaker 2: going on there now for the Brazil Moroccos, let's say,
- 20:19Speaker 2: or the Columbia Portugals, there's going to be a lot
- 20:21Speaker 2: more expensive than that to get in there.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Let's take two to those.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you one thing the President did which
- 20:28Speaker 2: I think is absolutely amazing. We announced this last week,
- 20:31Speaker 2: and I'm so so proud of the work that he
- 20:34Speaker 2: did in working with FIFA and Bank of America. Forty
- 20:39Speaker 2: five hundred and forty seven tickets will be available for
- 20:43Speaker 2: our military, veterans and first responders to all World Cup matches,
- 20:49Speaker 2: and two hundred and fifty for each US men's national
- 20:53Speaker 2: team game to celebrate our two hundred and fiftieth birthday.
- 20:56Speaker 2: The President wants to make sure that this really I
- 20:59Speaker 2: would say once in a lifetime, but we remember the
- 21:01Speaker 2: night in four World Cup, This few times in a
- 21:03Speaker 2: lifetime experience is enjoyed by America's greatest heroes.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Well, and it is once in a lifetime that we're
- 21:10Speaker 3: having a World Cup on our two hundred and fiftieth birthday.
- 21:13Speaker 1: That won't ever happen again.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Rich This is why, this is why you've got to
- 21:16Speaker 2: be out here messaging this year with me. I mean,
- 21:18Speaker 2: we gotta we gotta switch rolls over here.
- 21:20Speaker 3: You're no, But I mean I think I think that's
- 21:23Speaker 3: it's a really big deal.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And uh, it's a wild time to be doing what
- 21:27Speaker 1: you're doing. All right.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Look, I was leaving the studio a couple of days ago, yeah,
- 21:33Speaker 3: Monday night, and I totally forgot that President Trump was
- 21:37Speaker 3: coming to the garden. Man. Wow, it felt like New
- 21:42Speaker 3: Year's Eve by Harold Square. It was wild. Talk to
- 21:46Speaker 3: me about the Knicks. Uh, where do you see us going?
- 21:49Speaker 3: What's happening?
- 21:51Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you what I'm actually I'm hoping for
- 21:53Speaker 2: Nixon five, not just because I'm I'm a Knick fan,
- 21:55Speaker 2: but also because Game six there's also a game at
- 21:58Speaker 2: the Meadowlands day, so you could think about what Penn
- 22:02Speaker 2: Station would look like once fans get out and you
- 22:05Speaker 2: have Nick fans coming into Penn Station at the same
- 22:08Speaker 2: time right there. So that's why I'm open for Nixon five. Look,
- 22:12Speaker 2: I mean, it's been unbelievable to see the city rally
- 22:15Speaker 2: behind the Knicks. We want to make sure that people
- 22:18Speaker 2: are doing it in a safe way. Didn't like seeing
- 22:20Speaker 2: what happened in Brian Park. That's unacceptable, frankly, But let's
- 22:25Speaker 2: make sure that we don't enjoy this incredible moment. I
- 22:28Speaker 2: remember as as a kid it was my father's first
- 22:31Speaker 2: year in office, when the Knicks went to the finals,
- 22:34Speaker 2: the Rangers won the Stanley Cup and the World Cup,
- 22:37Speaker 2: all at the same time. Was in New York, was
- 22:40Speaker 2: in the United States. I actually the last NBA the
- 22:43Speaker 2: only NBA Finals game that I ever have been to,
- 22:45Speaker 2: was Game five of the nineteen ninety four NBA Finals,
- 22:50Speaker 2: And what people will remember from that day is it
- 22:52Speaker 2: was a pretty monumental day in sports. Arnold Palmer played
- 22:55Speaker 2: his last US Open round outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where
- 22:58Speaker 2: he grew up, had their parade down the Canyon of
- 23:02Speaker 2: Heroes for the nineteen ninety four Stanley Cup champions. You
- 23:06Speaker 2: had the World Cup kicking off in Chicago with the
- 23:10Speaker 2: President there and Oprah Winfeed making the declaratory statements. You
- 23:14Speaker 2: had the NBA Finals Game five, Patrick Ewing, John Starks
- 23:18Speaker 2: and the New York Knicks taking on the Houston Rockets.
- 23:21Speaker 2: And then what happened. Oj Simpson is driving his white
- 23:26Speaker 2: Bronco down the four h five freeway. They actually went
- 23:30Speaker 2: picture and picture on NBC and they took Oj as
- 23:34Speaker 2: the big picture, with the small picture in the corner
- 23:37Speaker 2: being Game five of the NBA Finals. So needless to say,
- 23:41Speaker 2: when the sports world collides around the World Cup, crazy
- 23:45Speaker 2: things happen. Let's just hope we're not covering something down
- 23:49Speaker 2: the four h five here in a couple of short days.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Well, put great place to leave it, Andrew Giuliani, Is
- 23:56Speaker 3: there anything else you want to mention?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Is there anything people need to know to make this
- 23:59Speaker 1: process better? Yeah?
- 24:01Speaker 2: I would say more than anything. Just enjoy it. This
- 24:03Speaker 2: is going to be an unbelievable summer to be able
- 24:07Speaker 2: to show off American exceptionalism to the world. What an
- 24:11Speaker 2: unbelievable time it is to be an American. What an
- 24:14Speaker 2: unbelievable time it is to be visiting the United States
- 24:17Speaker 2: of America. What we've tried to do on the task
- 24:19Speaker 2: Force is make sure that we strike that balance between
- 24:23Speaker 2: inviting the world. We want people that want to come
- 24:25Speaker 2: here enjoy the United States of America. Spend your hard
- 24:28Speaker 2: earned dollars here, have a blast, learn about the United States,
- 24:32Speaker 2: learn about our culture, learn about our greatness. Come here
- 24:35Speaker 2: while making sure bad actors do not get in the country.
- 24:38Speaker 2: At the same time, this is an unbelievable celebration of
- 24:41Speaker 2: our country. And Rich, let's really really keep that perspective
- 24:46Speaker 2: and let's really enjoy it.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Amen, Praise God, Hallelujah, Familia. That's Andrew Giuliani, Executive director
- 24:53Speaker 3: of the White House task for US on the FIFA
- 24:55Speaker 3: World Cup. As you can see, piece of cake. He's
- 24:58Speaker 3: got his feed up on the desk. He's taking it easy. Uh,
- 25:00Speaker 3: Andrew Julian and God speed to you, my brother. Thank you, Rich,
- 25:04Speaker 3: You're the best. Always rape me in with you.
- 25:10Speaker 2: This is a merry distant to Benet to Belie.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah,
