- Sean Graver: Okay, so you're giving everything you've got, and the paycheck doesn't reflect it. I mean, you know what the market rate is. You know what people with your skill set and your experience are making somewhere else. And you're sitting here doing the work, and the number on your deposit is not the number it should be. And you're starting to wonder if you're being taken advantage of or just being foolish for saying, Well, hey, welcome back to prayer before work. ⁓ the writer of Hebrews says this in chapter six, verse 10. God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints as you still do. So the context is people who served faithfully without any visible recognition or reward. But the principle is simple. God sees what other people don't. And he doesn't forget. So let's be clear about something first. This verse is not a reason to stay underpaid forever. Because sometimes the right move is to ask for what you're worth. I mean, have that conversation with your boss or maybe look at what else is out there in order to be a good steward of your own abilities and time. I don't think that's being greedy. It's it's really it's wisdom. But here's what this verse Versus actually addressing that place inside of you that wonders whether any of this matters? Whether anyone sees what you're really putting in? The answer is yes. God sees it. And according to this, he is not unjust, which means he doesn't overlook it. Your faithfulness isn't invisible, even when your boss doesn't see it. Which means that our character And the work isn't wasted even when it goes unrecognized. Now I know that doesn't make the situation feel better though, does it? But it does mean that what you do today, done with care and integrity, counts for more than the paycheck will tell you. So whatever decision you're working toward, ask for that raise, have that honest conversation, start exploring your options, but do it from a place of of clarity, not not bitterness. You are worth the conversation. So let's pray. Father, you see what we're putting into this, you see what it costs us. We don't want to grow bitter over the gap between what we give and what we get back, but we need your help holding it together. Give us wisdom about what to do and when to do it, and remind us today that you are not unjust. And that nothing we do with integrity is invisible to you. Help us to show up well. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. And go make today count.
