- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay and with me for
- 0:27Speaker 2: another great book interview interview. I'm still tired right now.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It's Sunday, guys. We are recording this separate lead than
- 0:35Speaker 2: our usual show for our book review is Katie, Katie,
- 0:42Speaker 2: how is your Sunday going? From the sound of it yesterday,
- 0:47Speaker 2: your weekend is not going completely great. But how's your Sunday?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I think we've confirmed that she's teaving Matt let me
- 0:55Speaker 3: sleep in, so I feel pretty good right now. I
- 0:58Speaker 3: do feel bad for Matt because he didn't came back
- 1:00Speaker 3: last night until like midnight, but he let me sleep so.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And let's see here, she is four months and so
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember when Amberlin started teething. So September,
- 1:17Speaker 2: so October, November, December, yeah, January New Year's was when
- 1:23Speaker 2: she started teething. Four months.
- 1:25Speaker 3: So yeah, my nephew did not start teething until he
- 1:30Speaker 3: was six months.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay, oh yeah, fun stuff. I do apologize
- 1:40Speaker 2: and we, like Abby said yesterday when we were texting,
- 1:45Speaker 2: Amberlin is definitely one going on thirty right now. She
- 1:53Speaker 2: wants to do everything herself. She already thinks she knows
- 1:58Speaker 2: more than us. Like she she's cute as can be. Guys,
- 2:03Speaker 2: I love my daughter so much, but don't let any
- 2:08Speaker 2: parent trick your child can be a little shit. That's
- 2:13Speaker 2: just the way it is. Because like even yesterday, we
- 2:18Speaker 2: had a very fun, adorable family time at the grocery store.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And I almost forgot that stores do this from time
- 2:26Speaker 2: to time, but uh, and it was like maybe our
- 2:29Speaker 2: second time into the store. It's a local grocery store
- 2:33Speaker 2: or whatever, and there was fish in the very back
- 2:37Speaker 2: where like the pet like food stuff is, well, there
- 2:41Speaker 2: was actual fish and like their little aquariums and stuff.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And Amberlyn had never seen fish in person, like she's
- 2:48Speaker 2: always seen them her very like her her favorite thing
- 2:52Speaker 2: on TV right now is Baby Shark, so she sees
- 2:56Speaker 2: fish all the time on that. She the new Little
- 3:01Speaker 2: Mermaid show on Disney Plus, so she knows about fish,
- 3:05Speaker 2: but she had never seen them in person. So when
- 3:08Speaker 2: I showed her like it opened like a whole new
- 3:12Speaker 2: experience into like her, her whole life. And I immediately
- 3:18Speaker 2: regretted it because I was like, Okay, it's time to
- 3:20Speaker 2: go and she immediately started to like do that, like eh,
- 3:24Speaker 2: and like started to like start a fit, and then
- 3:26Speaker 2: Abby quickly grabbed like a dog, squeaky toy. It was like,
- 3:29Speaker 2: look what I have. It's really sad that we can
- 3:33Speaker 2: basically treat our child like a dog, but it's hilarious also.
- 3:38Speaker 2: But anyway, like I said before, this is a book review,
- 3:44Speaker 2: and of course you clicked on this due to the title.
- 3:47Speaker 2: This is our Beware the Nameless book review. Of course,
- 3:51Speaker 2: this is written by zorryda Cordova. This is one of
- 3:58Speaker 2: the younger readers or specifically titled middle grade. I like
- 4:08Speaker 2: this one. I think I always like these in every
- 4:14Speaker 2: phase and wave that we get. One thing that has
- 4:18Speaker 2: started to be a very big trope of these series
- 4:26Speaker 2: of books is the fact that there are new Star
- 4:30Speaker 2: Wars creatures introduced in these books. And funny enough, just
- 4:36Speaker 2: like my daughter, you know, I think that kids gravitate
- 4:39Speaker 2: towards animals, and so I think it's a very smart
- 4:41Speaker 2: thing to do. I think it's really really fun. But
- 4:45Speaker 2: we have new characters in here related to old characters,
- 4:52Speaker 2: and I will say this, Zorida did everything possible to
- 5:00Speaker 2: reference and not reference the one character that this character
- 5:07Speaker 2: is related to like it was right on the customet
- 5:10Speaker 2: like the very in like it's basically right there. I'm like,
- 5:15Speaker 2: all you have to do is say the name. You
- 5:17Speaker 2: just have to say the name. And they didn't say
- 5:19Speaker 2: the name, and I'm like why. But yeah, I really
- 5:25Speaker 2: like this book. I think it's very fun. It gets
- 5:28Speaker 2: very scary at some points, And I do think that
- 5:31Speaker 2: is also a really weird trope of these books, is
- 5:34Speaker 2: that you.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Would think that they would that with it being a
- 5:37Speaker 3: younger Pater's book, a middle grade book, you'd be like, Okay,
- 5:41Speaker 3: let's stick away from the scary, but like, there's some
- 5:44Speaker 3: intense scenes.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, some very intense scenes. And I think it also
- 5:49Speaker 2: has to do with the fact that the the phase
- 5:54Speaker 2: three of this High Republic era is supposed to be
- 5:58Speaker 2: kind of dark and gloomy and scary, and we hope
- 6:03Speaker 2: that there is a happy ending to this whole thing,
- 6:08Speaker 2: but we know that this is just a part of
- 6:10Speaker 2: the story that's supposed to go into what some could
- 6:14Speaker 2: say is some of the darkest stories in film history
- 6:19Speaker 2: of Star Wars and stuff. So I don't know if
- 6:21Speaker 2: you can in this in a happy, go lucky, happy ending,
- 6:28Speaker 2: you know, there was a little bit of a tear
- 6:31Speaker 2: jerker here at the very end of this book that
- 6:34Speaker 2: I was very happy to see. But yeah, Katie, we
- 6:40Speaker 2: know that we recently discussed outside of the podcast that
- 6:46Speaker 2: we're going to be keeping these reviews somewhat spoiler free
- 6:52Speaker 2: due to the fact, of course that we get these
- 6:53Speaker 2: books a little bit early. Sometimes we want to be
- 6:56Speaker 2: able to push these book reviews out when everybody else
- 7:00Speaker 2: who gets these early do and so usually we do
- 7:06Speaker 2: like a like somewhat heavy spoiler stuff when it comes
- 7:09Speaker 2: to our favorite parts and stuff. But we're gonna try
- 7:11Speaker 2: to veer away from that and kind of talk around
- 7:13Speaker 2: it so that way you guys can go and grab
- 7:15Speaker 2: this book and experience it yourself, because we will always
- 7:19Speaker 2: say that reading it yourself is always better. And we
- 7:23Speaker 2: love these books and we want you guys to enjoy
- 7:25Speaker 2: them as well. So, Katie, where do you want to
- 7:28Speaker 2: start with? Beware the Nameless?
- 7:31Speaker 3: So I do want to mention this first, because we
- 7:34Speaker 3: always fail to talk about this, and I keep going
- 7:36Speaker 3: we need to talk about this, and I fail to remember.
- 7:42Speaker 3: But this book does have LGBTQ representation and its transgender.
- 7:51Speaker 3: She's a trans female, So there's representation there, and then
- 7:55Speaker 3: Kildo obviously in Escape from Valo he kind of built
- 7:59Speaker 3: the relationship with I can't remember that Gab Gabby, so
- 8:06Speaker 3: there's representation there. But I loved Tipped Up is just
- 8:13Speaker 3: my favorite. I love her so much.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I got really worried.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I did too.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I get really worried, and I was like, Zorida, don't
- 8:22Speaker 2: you dare? Don't I know you dare? But it makes
- 8:28Speaker 2: things interesting for the future of this phase because of
- 8:34Speaker 2: some things that we saw in Temptation of the Force
- 8:38Speaker 2: in regards to Bury and how Burry and a var
- 8:46Speaker 2: and and and all of that happened near the of
- 8:50Speaker 2: course climax of that book. I want to get into
- 8:52Speaker 2: that subject when we finally start talking about it again.
- 8:56Speaker 2: We'll have to veer away from some stuff, but I
- 8:59Speaker 2: do want to talk talk about that specifically. And just
- 9:03Speaker 2: wondering it made me think, like, you know, we we
- 9:08Speaker 2: we are so ingrained with these formulaic movies like the MCU,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and we're like, oh, you introduce these characters so that
- 9:15Speaker 2: way they can, you know, interact with each other in
- 9:18Speaker 2: future movies and stuff. For the MCU, I think it
- 9:23Speaker 2: only makes sense that with these little things happening in
- 9:27Speaker 2: these books. The connection that I'm trying to make with
- 9:31Speaker 2: Burry and Tip Tip, Like, I think you almost have
- 9:34Speaker 2: to have an interaction in a future book with them.
- 9:37Speaker 3: You have to, especially with that with that scene on
- 9:41Speaker 3: the Innovator. Yeah, at the end, like where should where
- 9:48Speaker 3: she connects? I'm just trying to say where she connects
- 9:50Speaker 3: with the Nameless?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Like, but does she? Like it's it's it's so very vague,
- 9:56Speaker 2: you know, And because the Egg for.
- 9:59Speaker 3: A reason, because it's all going to be built.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Up exactly, and it's a book that's already come out,
- 10:05Speaker 2: so we'll go ahead and talk about it. Also with
- 10:07Speaker 2: Bury and their interaction with the Nameless, and we know
- 10:12Speaker 2: that they like cause the Jedi to be consumed by
- 10:17Speaker 2: fear and all of these different things. And because of
- 10:21Speaker 2: Bury's special connection to the force, he is an EmPATH
- 10:26Speaker 2: that can not necessarily control emotions, but he can.
- 10:37Speaker 3: He feels them deeply and he can help temper them exactly.
- 10:43Speaker 2: So with his connection to the force with empathy and
- 10:47Speaker 2: tep Tep's connection to the Force with creatures, and of
- 10:52Speaker 2: course their number one enemy being the Nihill and specifically
- 10:56Speaker 2: the Nameless, I think that's going to be a very
- 11:00Speaker 2: interesting connection, and I really hope that there is something
- 11:06Speaker 2: in the future because if there's not, that is a
- 11:09Speaker 2: huge missed opportunity for broader storytelling. And I think one
- 11:15Speaker 2: of the best things when it comes to stories like
- 11:17Speaker 2: this is these little heroes in our young wings, like
- 11:25Speaker 2: they of course, everybody is the hero of their own story, right,
- 11:28Speaker 2: but when it comes to the broader scale of the Jedi,
- 11:33Speaker 2: the Jedi Masters, Jedi Knights and all of this, Like,
- 11:38Speaker 2: I think it would be one of those MCU in
- 11:40Speaker 2: game moments that you're like, oh yeah, like the freaking
- 11:47Speaker 2: kill though in Tep Tep or fighting alongside Bury and
- 11:51Speaker 2: Bell and all these other things like that would be
- 11:53Speaker 2: so cool. And you know, uh, there's somewhat of a
- 11:59Speaker 2: precedent for it to happen because of the Guardian protocols,
- 12:03Speaker 2: but we technically still don't have masters for a Tip
- 12:08Speaker 2: Tip and Gildo and all of that. They're kind of
- 12:12Speaker 2: under Ram's care, but he's still technically a Padawan, So
- 12:18Speaker 2: maybe in the future we'll see something happen there. But yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 2: it's it's really thought.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I really thought Ram was going to get knighted at
- 12:26Speaker 3: the end of this.
- 12:28Speaker 2: It kind of sounded like that's what was happening, because
- 12:32Speaker 2: at the very end, there's like a little bit of
- 12:34Speaker 2: a council meeting and debriefing of the entire adventure that happened.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And I can't remember which council member said it, but
- 12:47Speaker 2: at the very end, they're like, oh, but Ram, you'll
- 12:50Speaker 2: have to stay here and and do this. And I
- 12:53Speaker 2: was like, Oh, he's getting knighted, Like that's crazy, that's
- 12:55Speaker 2: gonna be awesome, and it never happened. So I was like, yeah, oh, please.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Don't knight him off screen, y'all, please don't knight him
- 13:03Speaker 3: off screen. I want to see it. I need the emotion.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I think that there should be a book. Now. I'm
- 13:10Speaker 2: not saying that there should be a book where they
- 13:12Speaker 2: all get knighted all at once, but I think some
- 13:16Speaker 2: of these characters that we have been following, as far
- 13:20Speaker 2: as the padawan's, like, we saw Vernestra knights her padawan Emory, Yeah, Emory,
- 13:30Speaker 2: and it kind of meant nothing because he also was
- 13:32Speaker 2: just like, yeah, I'm not gonna be a Jedi anymore
- 13:34Speaker 2: type of thing. But you know, it was still very
- 13:37Speaker 2: emotional as raw. It was very fun, and it showed
- 13:40Speaker 2: character growth.
- 13:41Speaker 3: All right, y'all, we are going to hit our first
- 13:43Speaker 3: ad break and we will be right back in three
- 13:46Speaker 3: two one.
- 13:48Speaker 2: And I think moments like that we need that shown now.
- 13:53Speaker 2: The only one that we didn't technically get. I'm pretty
- 13:56Speaker 2: sure we technically did not get Bells.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Uh, Shadows of Starlight.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Oh, that was it was it was. It was inn
- 14:05Speaker 2: a comic. It wasn't a it wasn't in an actual novel. Uh.
- 14:10Speaker 2: But I hope that we get to see Ram because
- 14:14Speaker 2: I think he's kind of, well, he's not kind of
- 14:17Speaker 2: He's definitely earned it. He's gone through a lot. They've
- 14:20Speaker 2: put a lot of responsibility on somebody who is just
- 14:25Speaker 2: a padawan, you know, So I think it would be
- 14:28Speaker 2: very fun for them to do that.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Uh, the Guardian protocols and what he's experienced, especially in
- 14:36Speaker 3: Mission to Disaster that when Reef gets nighted, you would
- 14:41Speaker 3: have thought, hey, let's night Ram at the same time.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Mm hmm yep.
- 14:47Speaker 3: But no, Yeah, and Ram is not a huge factor
- 14:53Speaker 3: in this book. He plays more of a side character.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He does play more of a side character. He is
- 14:59Speaker 2: in involved. In the beginning of the book. He has
- 15:02Speaker 2: as literally like maybe an eight page chapter in the
- 15:06Speaker 2: middle of the book, and then he's at the end.
- 15:09Speaker 2: That's basically his side of the story. It is mainly
- 15:12Speaker 2: surrounding our characters of the Padawans. We have a new
- 15:16Speaker 2: or a young We do have a new young one
- 15:20Speaker 2: that joins our team, Jamil. Jamil is a young individual
- 15:30Speaker 2: that has some insecurity and possible jealousy issues. In the
- 15:38Speaker 2: very beginning of this book, you know, he's he's this
- 15:43Speaker 2: very impatient youngling that's like, why am I not a
- 15:46Speaker 2: Padawan yet? Like all of this crap is happening around
- 15:49Speaker 2: the galaxy and I'm not a Padawan? What is going on?
- 15:53Speaker 2: Kind of idea And he's not very vocal about it.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He's very internal about it, but those are his thought
- 16:01Speaker 2: But it's very interesting the decision he makes at the
- 16:04Speaker 2: very end because of his character growth, you know. But
- 16:09Speaker 2: he is a character that is introduced here. We are
- 16:13Speaker 2: also introduced to two new characters, one being the great
- 16:24Speaker 2: great great granddaughter of actual gray Lark.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Yes, because she talks about her grandma, but she references
- 16:38Speaker 3: the grandma as a gray Lark. So with it being
- 16:43Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Years I think, actually, yeah, but that's that's the one
- 16:53Speaker 4: that I was saying that they didn't reference Axel.
- 16:56Speaker 2: At all, like at all, And you know, I would
- 17:01Speaker 2: hope that through everything that happened in phase two, we
- 17:06Speaker 2: kind of get at the very end of face to
- 17:08Speaker 2: this tease of like, hey, he's learned his ways. Yes,
- 17:12Speaker 2: he has to go through some things, and there's got
- 17:15Speaker 2: to be a lot of character growth there, but we
- 17:18Speaker 2: as readers hope that that character growth happened, right, And
- 17:24Speaker 2: so with them being prominent in Coruscants still, you're like,
- 17:29Speaker 2: come on, like we have to like, is there no
- 17:32Speaker 2: update here? Is this really just a name drop and
- 17:34Speaker 2: that's it? Like come on, But we get her Zenny,
- 17:40Speaker 2: right is her name?
- 17:43Speaker 3: And she gets to wheel the lightsaber just like her
- 17:46Speaker 3: great Greek grandfather does.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and she is has a little bit of the
- 17:54Speaker 2: attitude in the very beginning of this as Axel very
- 17:59Speaker 2: much in this, like hey, I'm gonna do what I
- 18:02Speaker 2: want because nobody wants to do what I want, and
- 18:05Speaker 2: I think what I want is best for the people
- 18:08Speaker 2: that I care about, and that's what gets us in
- 18:12Speaker 2: this mess to begin with. She stows away on the
- 18:15Speaker 2: innovator and without them knowing, the innovator shoots off into
- 18:22Speaker 2: their mission and the younglings and Zinni are stuck on
- 18:26Speaker 2: the innovator and they're like, oh crap. Oops, is basically
- 18:33Speaker 2: their explanation for everything. But she isn't the only new character.
- 18:38Speaker 2: We get a new character in Truro Truro the Hut,
- 18:43Speaker 2: which I think personally and I do think Zorida probably
- 18:49Speaker 2: knew this as well and is probably why his frame
- 18:53Speaker 2: of reference is probably it is probably the reason why
- 18:57Speaker 2: his frame of reference is the last of this book.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Truro stole the story from me, and I think it's
- 19:06Speaker 2: more so because a lot of these books in the
- 19:10Speaker 2: High Republic do have a little bit of this sense
- 19:13Speaker 2: of a coming of age story, and I think it's
- 19:15Speaker 2: a very big stereotype and trope with these types of novels.
- 19:21Speaker 2: But it's a good thing, you know, Hey, It encourages
- 19:23Speaker 2: your younger readers to read these books, to find themselves
- 19:27Speaker 2: in these characters and then move forward. And with Truro, Yes,
- 19:32Speaker 2: Truro the Hut.
- 19:34Speaker 3: He loves it, just he has a little.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Bit of a history with his family in the sense
- 19:40Speaker 5: of like, hey, people see me as this type of
- 19:44Speaker 5: individual because of my namesake, right, because of who I am.
- 19:49Speaker 2: And we immediately realize almost immediately, hey, this dude is
- 19:56Speaker 2: not the same kind of hut. You know.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got a greenhouse, he loves looking at animals,
- 20:03Speaker 3: he's got an it farm.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And it fart like, I love this kid. He is
- 20:10Speaker 2: amazing to a point where he like is trying to
- 20:15Speaker 2: help his sister or his you know, in retrospect his
- 20:19Speaker 2: family with what we find out is, hey, you're going
- 20:25Speaker 2: to steal a huge weapon from the Night Hill, and
- 20:29Speaker 2: we're gonna use it because we heard this weapon is
- 20:33Speaker 2: like the one thing that the Jedi fear, and if
- 20:36Speaker 2: the Jedi fear them, we need to have them so
- 20:38Speaker 2: that way the Jedi can stay off of our backs
- 20:40Speaker 2: and we can run the cartels that we run, and
- 20:43Speaker 2: we could run the galaxy and all those different things.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Of course, that being the nameless and of course he
- 20:50Speaker 2: feels obligated to do so because of course he is
- 20:52Speaker 2: a hut. And things go awry, he is blasted into
- 20:59Speaker 2: you know, this planet. He now has a bounty on
- 21:03Speaker 2: his head. He runs into our heroes and they become friends.
- 21:08Speaker 2: It's very you know, classic kind of trophy tropiness of
- 21:13Speaker 2: this younger readers, but it's very fun. It's very fun.
- 21:19Speaker 2: We get to see the evolution of Truro and him
- 21:29Speaker 2: battling his inner self with like, Okay, I really want
- 21:33Speaker 2: to help my family, But do I really want to
- 21:36Speaker 2: help my family? And not because I don't want to
- 21:39Speaker 2: help my family, but more so because is this really
- 21:43Speaker 2: who I am? And like what they do is that
- 21:45Speaker 2: what I want to do? Because I love my greenhouse,
- 21:48Speaker 2: I love my animals, I love all these different things
- 21:51Speaker 2: and they want nothing to do with that. And I
- 21:54Speaker 2: think one of my favorite lines of this entire book
- 21:57Speaker 2: is when Tep Tep says, well, you're you like and
- 22:02Speaker 2: that's all that needs, That's all that matters. And I
- 22:05Speaker 2: think the best part of that is because she is
- 22:09Speaker 2: trans like she understands that more than anybody, like, hey,
- 22:14Speaker 2: the most important part is you. And he even says
- 22:18Speaker 2: that he's never heard that before. He's always heard, oh,
- 22:23Speaker 2: the most important part of me is that I'm a hut.
- 22:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yeah, So that's a really.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Beautiful point out. That's a good moment.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 3: I loved Chruro. I thought he was so cute to
- 22:41Speaker 3: like hit that younger demographic, but then also like giving
- 22:48Speaker 3: that those moments where it's like, what, like you said,
- 22:51Speaker 3: were tepe aps, like the most important thing for you
- 22:53Speaker 3: to be use you, and like that's important for young
- 22:57Speaker 3: kids to know, especially so I think Truro is like
- 23:03Speaker 3: the audience character in this Zenny. I can't get over
- 23:11Speaker 3: how much Zenny makes me feel like Axel in a sense,
- 23:18Speaker 3: like oh yeah, it's it's so funny. But also getting
- 23:23Speaker 3: that art waight work with her in the middle where
- 23:27Speaker 3: she's just holding the lightsaber. It's so good. The art
- 23:31Speaker 3: in this book. Who's the r by.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Did they even have the artist?
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yes, the illustrator is Peter and Thomson. He's in the back.
- 23:48Speaker 3: But yeah, the artwork in this one is really good,
- 23:52Speaker 3: especially because it pulls out those purple tones, which I
- 23:55Speaker 3: I love the purple tones. And I do think Zinny
- 24:01Speaker 3: Zinny was a good character Foil to have in here
- 24:05Speaker 3: for the Jedi, especially because she's specifically looking for her sister,
- 24:11Speaker 3: who was out on a mission in the same region
- 24:14Speaker 3: that they're going to, and it's hoping that they can
- 24:18Speaker 3: find her. And I believe her father as well. Yes,
- 24:23Speaker 3: but I loved her. I loved her little hairstyle with
- 24:27Speaker 3: the buns. I am wondering if Axel or if there's
- 24:32Speaker 3: like some ironm and aerno in like that. That yeah,
- 24:39Speaker 3: in the DNA now because of the hair colors.
- 24:41Speaker 2: And well because the hair colors, but also I believe, uh,
- 24:47Speaker 2: was it was it her sister or was it the
- 24:50Speaker 2: Jedi that was hanging out with her? Sister had like
- 24:53Speaker 2: the green freckles, which is something that.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Is Yeah, the Jedi had those, and they were comparing
- 24:58Speaker 3: because the Jedi had green hair too, but the sister
- 25:02Speaker 3: also had green hair.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 3: And I mean, obviously you can dye your hair and stuff.
- 25:08Speaker 3: But it's just interesting to me that one sister has blue,
- 25:10Speaker 3: one sister has greened like that seems not intentional. We're
- 25:15Speaker 3: to go into our second ad break and we'll be
- 25:19Speaker 3: right back. Kildo was good in the book. He played
- 25:23Speaker 3: I feel like he still played a lesser role. Tep.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Tep is probably the most primary Jedi along with jim Ill.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I think I think Jamil was probably our primary one here.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Kildo was surprisingly enough as the jokester in Mission to
- 25:42Speaker 2: Disaster or no, no, which one was they were they
- 25:47Speaker 2: escape from Escape from Ballo, Sorry, he was the jokester
- 25:51Speaker 2: in Escape from Bellow. Here he was the one that
- 25:55Speaker 2: had like the knowledge drops. He was the very wise Jedi.
- 26:00Speaker 2: But it's so funny because they're all young wings, so
- 26:03Speaker 2: it kind of again, it shows their character growth, it
- 26:05Speaker 2: shows their experience, and Kilda was in the very beginning
- 26:09Speaker 2: of the book like, oh, well, you know, we fought
- 26:13Speaker 2: the nameless and we've done this, and we have gone
- 26:16Speaker 2: on adventures and we have a lot more experience than
- 26:19Speaker 2: all you guys, you know, and Valid we did this,
- 26:22Speaker 2: and Valid we did that. Da da dah. But he
- 26:26Speaker 2: he was the the person throughout this book that was
- 26:32Speaker 2: kind of pushing them forward, was the word of the
- 26:35Speaker 2: ones that had the words of encouragement.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Zenny.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I really love her intuition. She and it plays a
- 26:47Speaker 2: really big part near the end of the book. But
- 26:50Speaker 2: you know, because of who she is, how she grew
- 26:54Speaker 2: up and everything else she and again, this this whole
- 27:00Speaker 2: universe of Star Wars. We've talked about this before that
- 27:05Speaker 2: on Ironically, racism is a very big thing in Star Wars.
- 27:11Speaker 2: It just is, and you get a bit of it
- 27:15Speaker 2: with Zenny from the very start when meeting True. Oh
- 27:20Speaker 2: you're a hut oh yeah, you know, all of these
- 27:23Speaker 2: different things being rude and nasty towards him. Oh, you know,
- 27:27Speaker 2: why did you do this? And dah da dah. And
- 27:31Speaker 2: you see her character growth through the book because she
- 27:36Speaker 2: meets another individual and internally you're reading her internal thoughts
- 27:42Speaker 2: and she's questioning like, oh, that's I shouldn't think that way,
- 27:45Speaker 2: like because I did it with Truro and look how
- 27:48Speaker 2: great he is and all of this stuff, But it
- 27:50Speaker 2: was still her intuition. I was like, something feels off
- 27:52Speaker 2: about this, Like I can't quite get it, but something
- 27:56Speaker 2: feels off, and ultimately helped out because that said character
- 28:02Speaker 2: was a nigh hill in quote unquote disguise. So I
- 28:06Speaker 2: think that was very, very fun to see it. And
- 28:10Speaker 2: I think that's the best thing about these books is
- 28:12Speaker 2: that you can see a character grow so much through
- 28:18Speaker 2: This book is only twenty four chapters, you know, a
- 28:22Speaker 2: total of I think from from chapter one to chapter
- 28:25Speaker 2: two is like three hundred and twenty something pages.
- 28:28Speaker 3: But it's also a short it's a small book because
- 28:32Speaker 3: it's not like regular size, so you hud your twenty
- 28:34Speaker 3: three pages. Yeah, so, and yeah, you even see Zenny's
- 28:41Speaker 3: growth because at the end, she and her mom are
- 28:44Speaker 3: taking in Turo and like trying to help him like
- 28:48Speaker 3: find his path because his sisters, like, no, you betrayed
- 28:51Speaker 3: the family. You're dead.
- 28:54Speaker 2: But at the same time, even Zenny says, like your
- 28:58Speaker 2: sister just saved you, Like she does probably think like, oh,
- 29:04Speaker 2: you're weak and all of this stuff, but she recognized that,
- 29:08Speaker 2: like you're not one of us, Like you're not this
- 29:11Speaker 2: like angry pirate, you know, drug lord type of individual.
- 29:18Speaker 2: You just want to play with your animals, you want
- 29:20Speaker 2: to play with your plants, and all of these other
- 29:21Speaker 2: things like go to school. Here's a whole bunch of credits,
- 29:25Speaker 2: go do whatever you want. And it's so funny because
- 29:31Speaker 2: true is like I can't believe you, and it's not
- 29:37Speaker 2: like I can't believe you. Like he's mad, but he
- 29:39Speaker 2: doesn't know what to feel. He's like he's being disowned,
- 29:43Speaker 2: but he's being let free. He has this like there's
- 29:47Speaker 2: so many emotions going on. But you're near the end
- 29:50Speaker 2: of his book. But I love the way Zorita ended
- 29:54Speaker 2: it because it leaves you on such an open path
- 29:59Speaker 2: of like like the last words legitimately let me read these,
- 30:06Speaker 2: because I think this was just a great way to
- 30:08Speaker 2: end the book. Was he Zoraida put it down as
- 30:18Speaker 2: he needed to be himself. The galaxy was his and
- 30:22Speaker 2: it was waiting. Possibilities are endless now for him.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and like.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I know that because of the way Star Wars was created,
- 30:36Speaker 2: we are so many years into the future when it
- 30:39Speaker 2: comes to the original trilogy. We jumped even further into
- 30:42Speaker 2: the future with a sequel trilogy. We jumped back with
- 30:46Speaker 2: a prequel trilogy, and there's just like so much good
- 30:51Speaker 2: stuff happening. Now, that's like what happened to True? Where's true?
- 30:56Speaker 2: Where's his legacy? Like what happened to him? And it
- 31:01Speaker 2: made me think because of how intellectual he is, he
- 31:09Speaker 2: would be a great partner for Oh shoot, uh remember
- 31:22Speaker 2: her name? Uh the scientists? No, the scientists uh uh Oh,
- 31:31Speaker 2: Temptation of the Force was Nils. Yes, yeah, I think
- 31:38Speaker 2: that they would have so much in common, like, hey,
- 31:45Speaker 2: our families. Our families are not the greatest people, but
- 31:49Speaker 2: we have decided to, you know, walk away and do
- 31:52Speaker 2: these great things for the greater good of the galaxy.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Like I need them to meet, Like I think that
- 31:58Speaker 2: would be fun as well. So that would be.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Cool because I'm betting there's like some sort of like
- 32:03Speaker 3: biological component too, in like the nigh hills, like past
- 32:08Speaker 3: phrase especially now that marci On has altered like the
- 32:12Speaker 3: key to get past the storm wall, and Troe could
- 32:17Speaker 3: be a great asset there. Yeah, because stars and I
- 32:21Speaker 3: can't remember her name. I know it starts with an A, but.
- 32:29Speaker 2: I think, hold on, I'm gonna look it up right now.
- 32:33Speaker 3: But she's she's not going to consider like the emotional
- 32:39Speaker 3: or like biological component because she's like sticking towards like
- 32:45Speaker 3: the crystals, like the computer programming side of things.
- 32:49Speaker 2: So true could really help Avon Star Wars.
- 32:52Speaker 3: I almost said.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Avon sun Veil because she changed her name. Remember, yes, yes.
- 33:00Speaker 3: But I just love these books. They always make you
- 33:03Speaker 3: feel so good at the end of them, Like they're
- 33:06Speaker 3: perfect for kids if you want to like start your
- 33:10Speaker 3: kid into reading Star Wars. I read like a third
- 33:14Speaker 3: of this book tomorrow just because she like appreciates when
- 33:18Speaker 3: she could hear my voice kind of thing. Like it
- 33:21Speaker 3: was like a couple chapters here and there, so she
- 33:25Speaker 3: didn't get the full story, but like I still felt
- 33:27Speaker 3: comfortable reading it to her out loud and stuff. I mean, granted,
- 33:30Speaker 3: she listened to one of my romance books out loud
- 33:35Speaker 3: on an audiobook, so I guess I shouldn't say I
- 33:38Speaker 3: felt appropriate when she listened to that book.
- 33:42Speaker 2: We have, of course, we have your ABC book that
- 33:46Speaker 2: you bought amber Ln that she very much appreciates. But
- 33:52Speaker 2: she has these two. I think they're like the classic
- 33:56Speaker 2: Golden spine of the Golden books. It's Star Wars. We
- 34:02Speaker 2: are the Resistance, and there's also like Star Wars like
- 34:09Speaker 2: you can be a Hero or something like that. I
- 34:11Speaker 2: can't remember what the title is, but she has us
- 34:14Speaker 2: read those stories almost every single day. I think Star
- 34:19Speaker 2: Wars is such a great starter for kids when it
- 34:24Speaker 2: comes to the not only sci fi drama genre, but
- 34:31Speaker 2: hero genre as well, because you know, you look at
- 34:35Speaker 2: even something like what we reviewed the other day being
- 34:37Speaker 2: Young Jedi Adventures like me and Amberlain watched that all
- 34:43Speaker 2: the time. It's it's it's vibrant, it's colorful. They have
- 34:47Speaker 2: great stories to tell for kids. So if you guys
- 34:50Speaker 2: are interested in introducing your kids to Star Wars, we
- 34:55Speaker 2: highly recommend these be the avenue to do so. They
- 35:01Speaker 2: really are great and we have, like like I said,
- 35:04Speaker 2: these books, uh do have small illustrations as well. Again
- 35:10Speaker 2: it's not a giant picture book, but being able to
- 35:13Speaker 2: read the story and then have some sort of visual
- 35:16Speaker 2: for your child. I think it's very fun as well.
- 35:20Speaker 3: And we're about to jump into our third ad.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Y'all.
- 35:24Speaker 3: We promise we'll be right back, we promise. Star Wars
- 35:27Speaker 3: is a great avenue towards building that imagination, I feel like,
- 35:32Speaker 3: because there's just so much potential where you could go
- 35:34Speaker 3: in any direction, like even I mean, that's how I
- 35:37Speaker 3: got involved with Star Wars was I saw episode four,
- 35:41Speaker 3: episode five, and then I saw episode two, so like,
- 35:44Speaker 3: and then I put together a trail in my head
- 35:46Speaker 3: because I thought Padme and Anakin were Luke and Lea, so.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Like.
- 35:53Speaker 3: It's just there's all sorts of possibilities involved. So I
- 35:57Speaker 3: just like we have have episodes like we did last
- 36:01Speaker 3: week where we're like, come on, guys, really like us
- 36:05Speaker 3: canceled Act lately, come on, But like the books are
- 36:08Speaker 3: where it's at.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that, you know, when it comes to
- 36:13Speaker 2: the importance of entertainment, but also just like creativity, you
- 36:24Speaker 2: have so much more that you can expand on with
- 36:27Speaker 2: with books, and I think that's it's super fun and
- 36:31Speaker 2: you know, it's it's people have like this weird notion
- 36:38Speaker 2: when it comes to like bookworms and like stereotypes and
- 36:41Speaker 2: all of that, but like, hey, there's nothing wrong with
- 36:46Speaker 2: escaping with a really good story. So yeah, I think
- 36:49Speaker 2: it's it's very fun. I think that's basically everything that
- 36:56Speaker 2: we can touch up on without getting into heavy, heavy spoilers.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Like we said, there are new creatures introduced into these books.
- 37:07Speaker 2: The turtles was a really fun part of the story
- 37:12Speaker 2: as well. Yeah, and again there there are some things
- 37:17Speaker 2: that feel like are lingering and might be connected to
- 37:19Speaker 2: other hopefully future stories of this Phase three. If you
- 37:25Speaker 2: guys haven't already, this I'm sure is dropping on the
- 37:32Speaker 2: same day as our normal episode if we don't drop
- 37:37Speaker 2: it sooner, So go check out our episode where we
- 37:42Speaker 2: will also be reviewing The Adventures Star Wars Adventures Volume.
- 37:48Speaker 3: One, High Republic Adventures.
- 37:51Speaker 2: High Republic Adventures Starry Volume one on our main show.
- 37:58Speaker 2: And I believe that is all because again we're reviewing
- 38:04Speaker 2: this in the future, so if there's any heavy news
- 38:08Speaker 2: stuff that comes out, of course you'll hear it there
- 38:11Speaker 2: as well. Guys. Of course, you can always find me
