- 0:00Hebrews chapter 2. Let us pray our Lord, our King,
- 0:09our everything. Father.
- 0:11Father us Lord, we exalt your holy name above every other
- 0:17entity. God, I pray that fear of man
- 0:21will break off. God I pray in the name of Jesus
- 0:25that we will not succumb to all of the cares of this life.
- 0:30But God we will rise up Lord, and be great men and women of
- 0:34faith who are called by your name.
- 0:37Father, little Christ. Father, I pray that we will
- 0:41mirror and model the ministry of Jesus Christ to this wicked and
- 0:46perverse, this dying generation. God, I pray that you'll help us,
- 0:50Lord, to be your hands and feet. Lord, give us your eyes.
- 0:54Give us your ears. God, give us the right
- 0:56responses. Lord, let us feel the depths of
- 1:00the things that you feel, God, and take us to new heights with
- 1:03you as we study the Word today. God, I pray that the Word will
- 1:07get into US. Lord, I pray that the Word will
- 1:10discern us. God, I pray that the Word of God
- 1:14will quicken in the inner man and help us, Lord, help us to be
- 1:19those who are worthy to be called by your name.
- 1:24Lord, I pray that you'll help us, Lord, to not grow weary.
- 1:29Help us to not give up and slack off and forget God, but I pray
- 1:34that we will finish this race well.
- 1:37Help us God. Lord, I pray for marriages.
- 1:42God, I pray for people who are suffering under the illness.
- 1:48I pray for the incarcerated. God, I pray that you'll be so
- 1:51close to them. Lord, I pray that you'll whisper
- 1:55to them in the still small voice.
- 1:56God, I pray that you'll help the caretakers.
- 1:59God, I pray that you'll help those that are in the hospitals.
- 2:03God, I pray, Lord, that you'll help the staff.
- 2:07God, I pray that you'll help those that are trying to teach
- 2:11and teach well. I pray for all those of that are
- 2:14on the front lines, God. I pray that you'll help them,
- 2:16Lord, to see that they are ministers of reconciliation,
- 2:21God. They are instruments in your
- 2:23hand, God, And you are moving everything mightily on the
- 2:27prophetic timeline, God. So I pray that as we get out of
- 2:31our own understanding, God, that we'll get into your Word and let
- 2:35the word wash over us today and renew us today and give us the
- 2:41mind of Christ today. Lord, we love you, you, and this
- 2:44in King Jesus, holy and precious and powerful name, that I pray.
- 2:49Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 2:55Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things
- 3:00which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
- 3:05That is the call here, friends. That is what we are to do is we
- 3:09are to take heed, and we are to call into remembrance all of the
- 3:13ways that God has showed up. And for us to not be forgetful
- 3:18people, for us to not let our faith wane, friends, but we need
- 3:22to let it grow. We need to let it grow larger
- 3:25and greater. We need to increase our faith,
- 3:28friends, and we need to be more in tune with God than we ever
- 3:32have been. As time goes on, friends, it
- 3:36should become more and more intimate.
- 3:38It should not become blase. It should not just become
- 3:42calloused hearts, friends, but we desperately need to grow in
- 3:47the faith and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ by
- 3:51coming to him each and every day.
- 3:53His mercies are new every day. And we come and we sit and we
- 3:58learn at his feet, friends. And he's got many gems and
- 4:02jewels. He's got a treasure trove that
- 4:04He wants to show us and to give to us friends and let us
- 4:09discover as we get in. And we mine all of those.
- 4:13Then He gives them to us, and we will have those for all of
- 4:17eternity. But we do not need to be those
- 4:21who think that we've learned it all and that we know it all and
- 4:24that we fall down right here at the end of the race.
- 4:27Let us be the wise virgins that fill our lamps and trim our
- 4:33Wicks. And we look up and we see our
- 4:36redemption is drawing near. There are many who are going by
- 4:40the wayside and they say, yeah, yeah, yeah, we they've been
- 4:44saying that my whole life and it has not come.
- 4:48And there is the problem because they have started to become numb
- 4:53to all the promises of God. When the Bible said 2000 years
- 4:57ago that the day was near, how much more nearer is it today
- 5:02than it was back then? And that is the way you need to
- 5:05view it. You don't need to think that God
- 5:08is slack, as some are in the habit of doing.
- 5:11And they think that everything just goes on and on and on.
- 5:14And it's all about game, friends.
- 5:17And it's all about this world friends.
- 5:19That is where we air grievously is whenever we stop looking
- 5:24through the lens of prophecy, when we stop looking at all the
- 5:28things that are happening all around from the world through
- 5:31the lens of the Bible, and have a biblical worldview.
- 5:35If we are trapped in the culture and we're trapped in the here
- 5:39and the now, and we're trapped in prosperity and we're trapped
- 5:43in materialism and we're trapped in selfish, greedy gain and
- 5:47lustful desires, then you're going to miss it, friends.
- 5:50You're going to miss the whole mark and you're going to sin,
- 5:53and you're going to be just like the recipients of the book of
- 5:57Hebrews here that Paul was warning.
- 6:00Verse 2. For if the word spoken by angels
- 6:04was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience
- 6:08received a just repayment of reward. 3 How shall we escape,
- 6:16if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first
- 6:20began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by
- 6:25them that heard him? So here the writer of Hebrews
- 6:29wants them to know, and God Almighty wants us to know, to
- 6:34not grow weary, and to not just fall into sinful lusts.
- 6:39Friends, because if we neglect such greatest salvation, there
- 6:43is no other salvation apart from Jesus Christ.
- 6:47He is the only way unto the Father for God also, bearing
- 6:54them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with diverse
- 6:59miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to His own
- 7:03will. How will we escape the eternal
- 7:07separation from God Almighty if we do not place our faith
- 7:11accurately in Jesus Christ and Christ alone?
- 7:18There is no salvation apart from Jesus Christ, and if we neglect
- 7:24that, then we will forever be separated from a loving God who
- 7:31gave us the way. And His name is Jesus, and He
- 7:37showed us that with many miracles and with the gifts of
- 7:40the Holy Ghost, and He gives us no excuse.
- 7:46No one will stand before God Almighty and say that they did
- 7:50not know. All of creation proclaims His
- 7:55name. Even the rocks will cry out, and
- 7:58He can raise up sons to Abraham from these stones.
- 8:02We do not get to stand in front of a loving Almighty Holy God
- 8:07and tell Him that we did not know.
- 8:10He has given us chance after chance after chance after chance
- 8:17after chance, and His mercies are new every day.
- 8:20And if you woke up this morning, then He's not done with you and
- 8:24you have another chance to put your faith in Christ and Christ
- 8:29alone. It's not Christ plus self.
- 8:33It's not Christ plus the world. It's not Christ plus money.
- 8:38It's not Christ plus abilities. It's not Christ plus attributes.
- 8:44It's not Christ plus a party. It's not Christ plus your own
- 8:49selfish pleasures. It's Christ, and it's Christ
- 8:53alone that is going to get us there, and that is the only way
- 8:59that we will ever stand before an Almighty God and be seen as
- 9:04perfect and blameless and holy because of what Christ did. 54
- 9:12unto the angels has he not put in subjection the world to come
- 9:17whereof we speak? So you can see that not only is
- 9:21this world that we live in subject to God Almighty and to
- 9:27Christ, and the finished work that He snatched the keys to
- 9:30death and the hell, but the world to come everlasting and
- 9:34everlasting, is given to him. But he is seated right now
- 9:38awaiting the final time when God will put him on his rightful
- 9:43throne in literal geographical Jerusalem, and he will rule and
- 9:49reign for 1000 years. And we look forward to that. 6
- 9:57But one in a certain place testified saying what is man,
- 10:01that you are mindful of him or the Son of man, that you visit
- 10:05him? So Jesus Christ loved this
- 10:08messianic title, the Son of man. And you need to understand that
- 10:13Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man.
- 10:20He was no lesser man and he was no lesser God.
- 10:23He was beautifully both and if you try to take one away, then
- 10:30none of the scriptures make sense.
- 10:34It is Jesus Christ as God and Jesus Christ as man and here
- 10:40when he says what is man that you are mindful of him.
- 10:44He took on the flesh friends. He felt the things that you and
- 10:52I feel. He hungered and he thirsted, and
- 10:59he was tired, and he was still fully gone.
- 11:04What an amazing thought. 7 And you've made him a little lower
- 11:12than the angels. You crowned him with glory and
- 11:15honor, and did set him over the works of your hands.
- 11:19So mankind is lower than the angels in regards to we are
- 11:26mortal and we have to eat, we have to sleep, and angels are
- 11:33immortal and they were here prior.
- 11:37But God calls us the masterpiece.
- 11:43We are made in His image, and this is the beautiful tapestry
- 11:48that the writer of Hebrews wants to harken us back to is that the
- 11:54angels are looking at mankind. And as Jesus in his full deity
- 12:01took on his earthly tent, that was subject to hunger and
- 12:06thirst. It was subject to the bodily
- 12:10movements, it was subject to all of the pressures and the cares
- 12:15of this life. He was still fully God.
- 12:18And it is so beautiful. Beautiful thing 8 And you have
- 12:26put all things in subjection under his feet, for in that he
- 12:29put all in subjection under him. He left nothing that is not put
- 12:34under him. But now we see not yet all
- 12:36things put under him. So he still awaits the time when
- 12:40God is going to put him on his throne in Jerusalem.
- 12:46And right now he's seated at the right hand and he says, I go to
- 12:51prepare a place for you. And that is what we will see one
- 12:55day. We will see everything under
- 12:59subjection. And right now the enemy is
- 13:02having a field day and he's having a hay day.
- 13:05And here the enemy thinks that he can outwit and outsmart God,
- 13:10but God will not be outwitted and outsmarted, friends.
- 13:15And you need to understand that all of the things that are
- 13:19happening in the world right now are on the prophetic timeline of
- 13:24how God has orchestrated it and is going to bring him the most
- 13:28amount of glory. And if all of the demons and all
- 13:32of the satanic revolt would have known that the work of the cross
- 13:38was going to disarm them and put them to public spectacle, they
- 13:43would not have placed Jesus Christ on that cross.
- 13:46What an amazing thought. And right now the adversary is
- 13:51writhing, knowing that his head is going to be crushed, and he's
- 13:57trying everything within his limited power to keep that from
- 14:01happening. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than
- 14:07the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and
- 14:14honor, that he, by the grace of God, should taste death for
- 14:19every man. Think about it, friends.
- 14:22Jesus Christ came as a little baby and lived 33 years on this
- 14:27earth and suffered a criminal's death on the cross.
- 14:32But then he snatched the keys to death and hell, and we do not
- 14:36need to fear death any longer because of the finished work of
- 14:40Jesus Christ on the cross. 10 For it became him for whom are
- 14:47all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to
- 14:51glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through
- 14:56sufferings. Jesus Christ the Captain of our
- 14:59faith. Jesus Christ the captain of our
- 15:03salvation. What an amazing title.
- 15:05We see Him at the helm, we see Jesus Christ steering the boat,
- 15:11we see everything pointed towards Him and everything
- 15:15points towards Him. And everything will always point
- 15:18back to Jesus Christ. Even in the Ezekiel temple.
- 15:22Everything will point back to the cross of Christ and what He
- 15:26did for us when He won and wrought our salvation.
- 15:30And He has brought many sons to glory.
- 15:33And I pray that that is your story, friends.
- 15:39And it was through his sufferings that we found
- 15:43healing, and it was through his death that we find life. 11 For
- 15:54both he that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of
- 16:00one, For which 'cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers.
- 16:06Jesus, our elder brother. What an amazing thought.
- 16:11He's not ashamed to call us his brothers, and he is sanctifying
- 16:17us and he's making us more and more like himself each and every
- 16:23single day. And you are blood bought and
- 16:26bulletproof from now until he calls you home.
- 16:30And if you get snuffed out early, if you find out you have
- 16:35disease, friends, if it is your time to depart from this world,
- 16:40then the sanctification process is finished. 12 saying, I will
- 16:50declare your name unto my brothers, in the midst of the
- 16:54church will I sing praise unto you.
- 16:59Jesus is not ashamed to call us his brothers.
- 17:03And here we can see the ekklesi of the called out ones singing
- 17:07his praises forever and ever. 13 And again I will put my trust in
- 17:14him. And again behold I and the
- 17:17children which God have given me.
- 17:20So we can see that Jesus Christ has a family.
- 17:25We can see that Jesus Christ is the groom and we are the bride.
- 17:29And it pleases God Almighty for us to all be 1 14 For as much
- 17:40then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He
- 17:45also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death
- 17:50He might destroy him that had the power of death.
- 17:54That is the devil. We are partakers of every
- 17:59inheritance of Jesus Christ, as He became a partaker of our life
- 18:04and how we have to live in the way that we have to die.
- 18:08And He came, and He lived it. He came and he experienced it as
- 18:13fully man and fully God. And now we get to partake in all
- 18:19of his inheritance, friends, for all of eternity, just by the
- 18:24simple act of belief. Believe in him, call upon his
- 18:30name, friends, and be saved. And something supernatural
- 18:36happens when he sends the Holy Ghost to indwell inside of you.
- 18:40And deep calls to deep. And he disarmed and dismayed and
- 18:48he ashamed all of the powers of hell and darkness and the devil.
- 18:54And he has no grip on us. He has no hold on us, friends.
- 18:58And we do not need to fear death. 15 And delivered them,
- 19:03who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
- 19:07bondage. That is, the greatest tool that
- 19:11the enemy has in his tool belt is fear of death.
- 19:16And how many people have squandered their inheritance for
- 19:20a mess of pottage because of this fear that grips them and
- 19:24overwhelms them, and they turn and tuck tail and they deny A
- 19:32risen Lord. And it is because they allowed
- 19:37the enemy to inflict them with fear of death.
- 19:42We do not need to fear the one that can kill the body, but we
- 19:47need to fear the one that could not only kill the body, but to
- 19:50cast your soul into hell. That is who we fear.
- 19:54If we will fear God, everything else bows unto him.
- 19:59We do not need to fear the defanged, declawed lion that
- 20:04tries to roar, the adversary that prowls.
- 20:09We do not need to fear him, friends, in the face of
- 20:14adversity. We cling to the hem of the
- 20:16garment, friends, knowing that it profits a man nothing to gain
- 20:22the whole world but to lose his soul. 16 For truly he took not
- 20:32on him the nature of angels, but he took on him the seed of
- 20:37Abraham. So when Jesus Christ came, he
- 20:42did not come as an Angel, He came as a little baby in a
- 20:45Manger. What an amazing thought. 17
- 20:49Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like
- 20:55unto his brothers, that he might be a merciful, faithful high
- 21:01priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for
- 21:06the sins of the people. That is the work of the cross.
- 21:09That is what He did for us. He reconciled us to God through
- 21:15His perfect life. He took on our sins and we took
- 21:23on His righteousness so that we can stand before an Almighty God
- 21:28and be at one with God. And we don't need to fear all of
- 21:33our sins that we have done or are doing or will do.
- 21:38And we do not abuse grace as some are in the habit of doing.
- 21:43But when we sin, we know that His mercies are new every day.
- 21:5218 will end here. For in that He Himself has
- 21:56suffered being tempted, He is able to aid them that are
- 22:02tempted. He helps us, friends.
- 22:06He gives us a way out. He gives us a clear conscience.
- 22:10He gives us a clean slate. We don't need to get marked and
- 22:14marred by our sins, friends. We need to know that they are
- 22:18all forgiven. They are all under the blood of
- 22:21Jesus Christ. And in that knowledge we will
- 22:26want to obey and to do the things that God has for us to
- 22:30do. And we can know that Jesus
- 22:32Christ felt all of those things and he never succumbed to any of
- 22:39them. And He can help us through all
- 22:43of our temptations and trials if we will place our faith in Him,
- 22:48if we will acknowledge Him in the fight and not try to go out
- 22:53on our own strength. And He is faithful to help us.
- 22:57I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 23:00Word. I know I sure have.
- 23:02I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 23:05I love you. We'll see you back here
- 23:07tomorrow. God bless you.
